- 0:01Speaker 1: I'm not getting hold of much.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to fel Territory today on Wednesday, what is it July? Jeez,
- 0:19Speaker 3: twenty second, I've lost track of all Dayton time. I
- 0:21Speaker 3: know we're about ten days from the trade deadline.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Crotzy.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Uh, we're gonna have plenty of trade talk coming up
- 0:26Speaker 3: with Jim Bowden and Tim Britton. Uh, they're gonna give
- 0:29Speaker 3: us their mock trades. They're gonna see trades they hope happens.
- 0:32Speaker 3: They're gonna see trades they wish what happen, and they're
- 0:34Speaker 3: gonna give us a bunch of trades you know what
- 0:36Speaker 3: that aren't gonna happen. So it's a lot of pressure
- 0:38Speaker 3: on these teams the last ten days.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Yeah, pressure to win, not pressure to trade. Pressure to
- 0:44Speaker 4: trade is on the on the general manager. And that's
- 0:46Speaker 4: why none of those trades happened that we want to have.
- 0:48Speaker 4: We're gonna go all the mock trades everything. They're afraid.
- 0:52Speaker 4: They're afraid to make the trade that's gonna help their
- 0:54Speaker 4: team win this year, but it.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Could possibly do something to him next year.
- 1:00Speaker 3: No, No, we don't want to affect next year because
- 1:03Speaker 3: there might not be a next year. Because as we'll
- 1:06Speaker 3: get into later. The owners won a lot of crazy stuff.
- 1:09Speaker 3: The players won a lot of stuff crazy stuff too,
- 1:11Speaker 3: and we'll see if they can ever get to the
- 1:13Speaker 3: middle and make this something where we don't have to
- 1:16Speaker 3: lose games. I hate talking about it, but we're gonna
- 1:19Speaker 3: have to talk about it for the whole offseason, especially
- 1:21Speaker 3: once December first hits and there is no more CBA,
- 1:25Speaker 3: and then the owners will lock out the players. The
- 1:27Speaker 3: owners on MLB Network won't show a player because they
- 1:30Speaker 3: won't be allowed to, and the players won't be allowed
- 1:34Speaker 3: to do interviews.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Because it just gets awful.
- 1:37Speaker 3: So anyways, before we get too deep into it, let's
- 1:40Speaker 3: pull a Wilson Contreras and let's charge them ount.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Let's charge it.
- 1:49Speaker 3: The Blue Jays, The Blue Jays, the Blue Jays, one
- 1:51Speaker 3: of your former teams, one of your former roommates. They
- 1:53Speaker 3: lose twelve to two. Kevin Gosman got whacked around. They're
- 1:56Speaker 3: forty six and fifty five, nine games under five hundred.
- 2:00Speaker 3: What do the Blue Jays do do? They trade guys,
- 2:03Speaker 3: They try to get better. They're slowly dissolving into a
- 2:06Speaker 3: non playoff team. With the World Series hangover here, Cratzy
- 2:09Speaker 3: Johsh Schneider wasn't very happy after the game. There's no secret.
- 2:13Speaker 3: It's not gonna be easy. This is gonna be hard.
- 2:16Speaker 3: We just need to find some small wins and make
- 2:17Speaker 3: sure everyone knows this is gonna be hard. You got
- 2:19Speaker 3: to dig your way out of it. Is it too
- 2:21Speaker 3: late for the Blue Jays? And should they be sellers
- 2:24Speaker 3: with guys like Kevin Gossman?
- 2:30Speaker 1: I have to say it's too late.
- 2:31Speaker 4: So that means they're going to go on a nine
- 2:33Speaker 4: game winning streak and get back to five hundred and
- 2:36Speaker 4: be relevant. But even then, what is this team? What
- 2:40Speaker 4: is this team going to give you if they make
- 2:43Speaker 4: the playoffs? Do you hope that you can find somebody
- 2:48Speaker 4: to pitch in the postseason behind Dylan Cees? Is Trey
- 2:52Speaker 4: Savage gonna be the guys? His innings limit that they've
- 2:55Speaker 4: started out the season like kind of mitigating, yes, he
- 2:58Speaker 4: had the shoulder thing, but now it's like, you know,
- 3:01Speaker 4: where would you get to? It just feels like the
- 3:04Speaker 4: sense of urgency it's gonna come up a little too late,
- 3:08Speaker 4: Like it's just not it's not the team that they
- 3:11Speaker 4: thought they had last year and added to and strengthened
- 3:16Speaker 4: in the offseason, and now this is where they're This
- 3:19Speaker 4: is where they're standing, nine games under five hundred, well
- 3:22Speaker 4: back in a tough American league East.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yes, but did they really strengthen the team.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Dylan Seese has been great, Kevin Gosman's regressed right, Alejandro
- 3:30Speaker 3: Kirk has gotten worse. He was injured, but he hasn't
- 3:33Speaker 3: had a great year. They lost Boba Schet. I know
- 3:36Speaker 3: Okamoto has hit some home runs, but again he's not
- 3:38Speaker 3: Boba shitt. They some of the other guys, varshow haven't
- 3:41Speaker 3: played as well. George Springer has been heard, hasn't played
- 3:44Speaker 3: as well. Vlad hasn't been nearly as close to the
- 3:47Speaker 3: flat he was last year. So on paper they strengthened.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Were the Blue Jays just to flash in the pan though,
- 3:52Speaker 3: because one year they got hot. No could they go
- 3:54Speaker 3: on a fourteen game win streak like the Red Sox
- 3:56Speaker 3: have done well. See, but if they do that, they're
- 3:59Speaker 3: right back in this race. The problem is the way
- 4:02Speaker 3: they played there in last place, the way they played
- 4:04Speaker 3: and we said this about the Red Sox not that
- 4:06Speaker 3: long ago. The problem with the Blue Jays is it
- 4:08Speaker 3: might be too late because they'd have to win just
- 4:09Speaker 3: about every game in order to give their front office
- 4:12Speaker 3: hope that they can stay alive in this race.
- 4:14Speaker 4: And hopefully we can keep that graphic up that was
- 4:17Speaker 4: just up.
- 4:17Speaker 1: For people who were listening.
- 4:19Speaker 4: You have all of all of the Blue Jays offensive
- 4:23Speaker 4: stats up there, and you look at it and you go, well,
- 4:26Speaker 4: how does it compare to last year? It's eerily similar
- 4:31Speaker 4: in some categories. The fact that you know their ops
- 4:35Speaker 4: isn't very high. They don't strike out very much, They
- 4:38Speaker 4: never scored a ton of runs. The difference was they
- 4:42Speaker 4: were able to get more timely hittings. They were able
- 4:44Speaker 4: to run the bases a little bit better last year.
- 4:47Speaker 4: And I think the biggest thing I said it yesterday.
- 4:50Speaker 4: They had MVP type of seasons from different guys. You
- 4:54Speaker 4: had guys like Barger come out of essentially nationally, come
- 4:58Speaker 4: out of nowhere. Obviously Blue Jay fans knew who he was.
- 5:02Speaker 4: He's been hurt this year. You had Ale Hondra Kirk
- 5:05Speaker 4: get his extension before the season. He was hurt this year.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Is he fully healthy now that he's back? Like there's
- 5:12Speaker 4: value in these players. They just this is why it's
- 5:16Speaker 4: so tough to win a World Series, let alone get
- 5:20Speaker 4: to the World Series. And the prime example is this team.
- 5:24Speaker 4: To me, I think on paper, like AJ said, they
- 5:27Speaker 4: strengthened their team and it hasn't worked out. This is
- 5:30Speaker 4: also why teams say, we're not adding We're not gonna
- 5:34Speaker 4: add extra depth. We're not gonna say, okay, we got
- 5:37Speaker 4: Bieber back. We know he's not going to start right away.
- 5:39Speaker 4: We're gonna go get ceased before the market even develops,
- 5:41Speaker 4: and we're gonna pay what we think he's worth. He
- 5:44Speaker 4: started the All Star Game. We're gonna go out and
- 5:46Speaker 4: we're gonna get a Max Schurzer. Why do you need
- 5:48Speaker 4: that guy? Well, he's got he's got you know, he
- 5:50Speaker 4: got nine starters now to start the season. They don't
- 5:53Speaker 4: need Okamoto. Oh man, we got Okamoto too. Teams aren't
- 5:57Speaker 4: willing to do that because of this reason. Right now
- 6:00Speaker 4: they're nine games under five hundred. Why would we spend
- 6:02Speaker 4: all that extra money because you know, there's just a
- 6:05Speaker 4: little bit of extra value we're adding to the team.
- 6:08Speaker 4: And unfortunately this is this is when front offices are correct.
- 6:13Speaker 4: And then I look at all the Rays, the Brewers,
- 6:17Speaker 4: the way the Cardinals started out this year. That's where
- 6:19Speaker 4: front offices are incorrect. You add to those teams and
- 6:22Speaker 4: they're better in their playoff contenders.
- 6:28Speaker 5: If you're watching us, you already know we're wearing mack
- 6:30Speaker 5: Weldon right now as we talk about a great brand
- 6:33Speaker 5: that makes things so comfortable and easy to wear. But
- 6:35Speaker 5: if you're listening to the show, let me tell you
- 6:37Speaker 5: a little bit more about mac Weldon with my friend
- 6:40Speaker 5: Aer Kratz.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it's comfortable, it's light, it's summertime right now. For me, though,
- 6:47Speaker 4: they cater to what I need tall clothes. Normally, when
- 6:51Speaker 4: I buy tall clothes it's like something that's cumbersome and boxy.
- 6:55Speaker 4: It still fits incredibly well, super light, perfect for the summertime.
- 7:01Speaker 1: They got me all covered.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Comfortable performance material can be yours. Mack Weldon is the spot.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Don't sweat the heat this summer. Feel as effortlessly cool
- 7:13Speaker 5: as you look. With mack Weldon. Go to Mackweldon dot
- 7:15Speaker 5: com and get twenty percent off your first order of
- 7:17Speaker 5: one hundred and twenty five bucks or more with promo
- 7:19Speaker 5: code foul. That's m ackw e L d o N
- 7:22Speaker 5: dot com code f o u L.
- 7:25Speaker 3: There's a lot of mock trades out there right now.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Did we see the did we show we haven't showed
- 7:30Speaker 3: the Kevin Gossman right comments about this could be his
- 7:32Speaker 3: last start at home for the Blue Jays. I mean,
- 7:37Speaker 3: this is interesting. He asked about this possibly being his
- 7:39Speaker 3: last start before the deadline. I'm not going to think
- 7:42Speaker 3: about that too much because I'm a Blue Jay right now.
- 7:44Speaker 3: The focus is on this team. That's where my mind's at.
- 7:47Speaker 3: But yeah, that is kind of crazy to think about.
- 7:50Speaker 3: He's been there for a while, He's been really good
- 7:52Speaker 3: for the Blue Jays for a long time. If this
- 7:55Speaker 3: is his last start, he did walk off the mound
- 7:57Speaker 3: and enjoy it a little bit longer, took a little
- 7:59Speaker 3: bit more time going in and out between endings. So
- 8:02Speaker 3: if it is the last start, he's had a heck
- 8:03Speaker 3: of a run in Toronto and we'll see if he
- 8:06Speaker 3: ends up somewhere else, And if it's not the blue Jays,
- 8:08Speaker 3: the Blue Jay fans get to cheer him on for
- 8:10Speaker 3: a couple more months and hopefully they get hot.
- 8:13Speaker 4: You were a good player on a bad team towards
- 8:15Speaker 4: the end of your career. Do you feel like there
- 8:18Speaker 4: was a day when you were like the Braves team
- 8:20Speaker 4: is the one I'm thinking about.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You guys were like eighty.
- 8:22Speaker 4: You guys were like five hundred, and then all of
- 8:24Speaker 4: a sudden you collapse. Was there a day when you
- 8:27Speaker 4: were like, man, I feel like this is going to
- 8:29Speaker 4: be it and nobody else felt that or did you
- 8:32Speaker 4: feel it the whole season because him, his antics and
- 8:35Speaker 4: his words after the game showed it was like, ah, man,
- 8:40Speaker 4: this might be it.
- 8:42Speaker 2: No, I didn't think that.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I mean that one year the Braves kind of came
- 8:47Speaker 3: to me and they told me they were going to
- 8:48Speaker 3: trade me, but it was more of they just traded
- 8:51Speaker 3: everybody else away, and so from that moment on, it
- 8:53Speaker 3: was like, oh, wow, well we don't have a team anymore,
- 8:55Speaker 3: so how are we going to play?
- 8:56Speaker 2: And you know, we barely got through some games. So No,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I think Osmond.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Feels it a little bit more because he still has
- 9:01Speaker 3: a bunch of value, and I think the Blue Jays
- 9:04Speaker 3: are trying to do right by him if he's out
- 9:06Speaker 3: of if they are out of contention, they'll send him
- 9:08Speaker 3: to a team with a chance to win a World Series,
- 9:10Speaker 3: something that you know, Kevin Gosman hasn't had the opportunity
- 9:13Speaker 3: to do yet. But here's some trade listen Mitch mannon
- 9:17Speaker 3: you know who covers the Blue Jays has had some
- 9:20Speaker 3: five mock trades for the Blue Jays.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You know he said who says no? But the Blue
- 9:25Speaker 3: Jay's front office mats say no. In the other front
- 9:27Speaker 3: offices might say no. So let's take a look at these.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Kevin Gosman to the Cubs and again I don't know
- 9:31Speaker 3: a lot about these prospects.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Brooks Capele and Brett Bateman okay.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Cool, Jeff Hoffman and Dalton Varshow to the Phillies for
- 9:39Speaker 3: Justin Crawford.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I don't know that the Phillies would do that.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Sean Keys to the Rockies for Brenton Doyle. Again with
- 9:45Speaker 3: the rock I mean with the Rockies want to give
- 9:46Speaker 3: up Brenan Doyle. Maybe George Springer to the Red Sox.
- 9:49Speaker 3: And I don't know who Jojo Engracia is, but he's
- 9:51Speaker 3: got a cool name. He's in high a ball. Shane
- 9:54Speaker 3: Biaver to the Rays for Ryan Valaide and Joe Boyle.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Ryan Valaide can smash, so I don't know if the
- 9:59Speaker 3: Rays would do that right. And then Max Shu's are
- 10:01Speaker 3: the Washington for feel good story to end his career,
- 10:05Speaker 3: although Max i don't think Max would want to go
- 10:07Speaker 3: to the Nationals. Max would want to go to a
- 10:08Speaker 3: team of the chance to win. So I mean the
- 10:10Speaker 3: school as that one sounds, it's a bonus trade. I
- 10:12Speaker 3: don't know that it would happen. He'd rather probably say, hey,
- 10:14Speaker 3: send me to the Dodgers and let me sit on
- 10:16Speaker 3: the bench and I'll just be the party coordinator every while.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So uh, I don't know. What do you think about
- 10:22Speaker 2: these trades?
- 10:22Speaker 3: I think, yeah, it's cool for Mitch to say this,
- 10:24Speaker 3: but I don't know that some of the organizations would
- 10:25Speaker 3: make I don't know that justin Crawford, the Phillies would
- 10:28Speaker 3: give up.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Justin Crawford for Jeff Offfman, a guy they've had already.
- 10:31Speaker 4: No, but would they give up justin Crawford for Kevin Gosman?
- 10:37Speaker 4: You know they're looking for that. Do they want to pay?
- 10:40Speaker 4: And that's the biggest thing, Like, like everybody can come
- 10:44Speaker 4: up with their mock trades, all that stuff. Kevin Gosman
- 10:47Speaker 4: into the Phillies rotation. Well, the Phillies need a fifth starter.
- 10:50Speaker 4: They don't need a one through three. Is Kevin Gosman
- 10:53Speaker 4: now the fourth starter?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Pumping? You know?
- 10:56Speaker 4: Aaron Nola who throws tonight for the Phillies to the
- 10:58Speaker 4: fifth spot. Like how teams, the only way they would
- 11:01Speaker 4: end up giving away or trading one of their outfielders
- 11:05Speaker 4: for the Phillies especially is if they got.
- 11:08Speaker 1: A right handed hitting outfielder instead.
- 11:10Speaker 4: And I think justin Crawford they had enough faith in
- 11:13Speaker 4: him to be out there to start the year. I
- 11:16Speaker 4: think he's become a little bit more of a platoon
- 11:19Speaker 4: because Derek Hill, your White Sox, Derek Hill has been
- 11:22Speaker 4: smashing it and he's been killing lefties. I think it's
- 11:25Speaker 4: one of those things that all these mock trades, irregardless
- 11:30Speaker 4: of where you think guys are going to go. I
- 11:32Speaker 4: think the Jays have moved up the list with guys
- 11:34Speaker 4: that have value for other teams. Varshow Gosman. I think
- 11:39Speaker 4: somebody in that bullpen. I think somebody valuable in the bullpen.
- 11:43Speaker 4: They may be able to say, Okay, we'll be able
- 11:45Speaker 4: to offload some of Hoffman's contract, which hasn't really worked
- 11:48Speaker 4: out well for the Jays.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Here's one for you that's I mentioned Alejandro Kirk or Vealezuela.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Vealonzuela played really well while Kirk was down. Alejandro signed
- 11:58Speaker 3: to a long term deal with a team want to
- 12:00Speaker 3: take a chance on someone like Alejandro Kirk, and the
- 12:02Speaker 3: Blue Jays say, hey, we're gonna go with Valanzuela.
- 12:05Speaker 4: No, I think it's I think they're the only reason
- 12:09Speaker 4: that I would even think about that they would think
- 12:11Speaker 4: about it is because Valezuela did so well when Kirk
- 12:16Speaker 4: was gone, and now since he's been kind of relegated to.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That backup role.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Not backup, but I would I would call Alejandro Kirk
- 12:25Speaker 4: backup role where Alejandro is not playing ag Perzinski six
- 12:29Speaker 4: days a week and if there's a seventh game, somebody
- 12:31Speaker 4: else might play for seven innings. Like I think it's
- 12:34Speaker 4: a young catcher who proved his worth in the big leagues,
- 12:37Speaker 4: and I think his rhythm looks like it's a little
- 12:39Speaker 4: off since he's become kind of the split role backup catcher.
- 12:45Speaker 4: And I don't think the Blue Jays get rid of
- 12:48Speaker 4: Alejandro Kirk. As much as we're talking about this, we're
- 12:51Speaker 4: I don't know, I'd have to look at how many
- 12:52Speaker 4: Let's see, we're ninety one hundred and one games. In
- 12:56Speaker 4: one hundred and one games ago, people were still thinking
- 12:59Speaker 4: that we're going to be in the World Series. As
- 13:01Speaker 4: a front office, you're not going to say, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 4: we got so far with Alejandra Kirk, I think it's
- 13:07Speaker 4: time to trade them.
- 13:08Speaker 1: No, I think it's pieces that are expiring.
- 13:10Speaker 4: I don't think they're gonna I think they're gonna reload
- 13:12Speaker 4: with whatever they feel like they need. Possibly, I know
- 13:16Speaker 4: this is weird, Possibly a DH position that they thought
- 13:21Speaker 4: they could fill that George Springer filled for them last year.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Like they have holes to fill that I don't think
- 13:26Speaker 4: they can fill now. But if they offload some players
- 13:30Speaker 4: before at the trade deadline in the offseason, they can
- 13:33Speaker 4: fill those spots.

- 14:35Speaker 3: Kyle Teel is expected to miss six to twelve weeks
- 14:39Speaker 3: with a high left ankle sprain, per Murking Scott Murkin, Uh, yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 3: this sucks here for the White Sox. Six to twelve
- 14:48Speaker 3: weeks though, is a wide range of time. Is it
- 14:52Speaker 3: all pain management. I've never high I've never had a
- 14:54Speaker 3: high ankle sprain, so I don't understand. But he was
- 14:56Speaker 3: carried kind of carried off the field the other night
- 14:58Speaker 3: in Toronto, I mean in Texas. Excuse me, I just
- 15:03Speaker 3: it's a wide range. And this is why I think
- 15:05Speaker 3: the White Sox will be in for shopping for a catcher.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I don't know what they're willing to give up for
- 15:10Speaker 3: a ketcher kratchy, but they've got to be in the
- 15:12Speaker 3: at least in.
- 15:12Speaker 2: The in the discussions to get a catcher. Edgar Kiro's
- 15:16Speaker 2: up now.
- 15:16Speaker 3: He was not good when he was there and they
- 15:19Speaker 3: were counting on Teal coming back and covering. Honestly, Drew
- 15:22Speaker 3: Romo has not been good. He got off to a
- 15:23Speaker 3: great start, but apparently the true jet can't fix all
- 15:25Speaker 3: your flaws.
- 15:27Speaker 2: What do you think you're with, Kyle Teel?
- 15:30Speaker 4: I mean, first of all, six to twelve weeks. It's
- 15:32Speaker 4: a wide range because I was told by an athletic
- 15:36Speaker 4: trainer that when you get into the high ankle spring.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Now I never understand.
- 15:39Speaker 4: I'm like, well, just your whole ankle, but it's a
- 15:42Speaker 4: different area that that ligament has taken a long will
- 15:47Speaker 4: take a longer time to heal up and create stability again.
- 15:53Speaker 4: And you know as well as anybody like you're sitting
- 15:55Speaker 4: on your you're sitting on your legs, yes, but the
- 15:58Speaker 4: whole base of that is your ankle, and then other
- 16:00Speaker 4: stuff starts creeping in. But six, like, let's say it
- 16:02Speaker 4: goes twelve weeks, white sox are out of it by then,
- 16:06Speaker 4: like we're we're not We're not in the season anymore.
- 16:09Speaker 4: So to me, I think this loss is huge for
- 16:12Speaker 4: the White Sox. Where do they go? I don't I
- 16:15Speaker 4: don't think you can just go pick up a starting catcher,
- 16:19Speaker 4: a big league starting catcher.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I get it.
- 16:21Speaker 4: We've talked about the last two days. Adlie Rutchman, Well,
- 16:24Speaker 4: now he's hurt, and now Basillo's hurt for the Warrioles
- 16:27Speaker 4: too so, and Goodman's been brought up and Shy Langueleers.
- 16:32Speaker 4: I just don't think one the White Sox are able
- 16:36Speaker 4: to They haven't made any moves this year that tell
- 16:39Speaker 4: me that they're gonna be like, yeah, we're gonna we're
- 16:41Speaker 4: gonna do that, We're gonna go for this one position.
- 16:46Speaker 4: And I just think it's a very tough injury at
- 16:50Speaker 4: an opportune time from a guy who's been out and
- 16:53Speaker 4: so they're winning without him.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I get that.
- 16:56Speaker 4: But I think Kyle Teel is one of the guys
- 16:58Speaker 4: that is part of this championship mentality, like a different
- 17:04Speaker 4: like look, just like a different intensity that I haven't
- 17:08Speaker 4: seen with other White Sox teams in the last few years.
- 17:12Speaker 3: All Right, we mentioned Sam Besillah, we hadn't even got
- 17:14Speaker 3: to that yet. But yes, he's joining out of the
- 17:15Speaker 3: Rutchmand today on the eyele, do we know what's wrong
- 17:17Speaker 3: with Sam because I don't. I haven't heard much wrong
- 17:20Speaker 3: of them, just saying he's joining out of the Rutchman.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Right now, they have Sam Huff and Chadwick Trump as
- 17:25Speaker 3: their active catchers. Jonathan Rodriguez, an outfielder, is going to
- 17:29Speaker 3: take the roster's part of Masaio. We just mentioned the Orioles.
- 17:33Speaker 3: They were on a nice winning streak. He's out with
- 17:36Speaker 3: left wrist inflammation, by the way, so he's he's out. Uh.
- 17:40Speaker 3: This this one tends to me to think the Orioles, though,
- 17:44Speaker 3: are gonna be sellers now. And the thing about the
- 17:48Speaker 3: Orioles is if they sell, how much pressure is on
- 17:51Speaker 3: Michae Elias because injuries suck, but you can't control them.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And now you have both your catchers out right before
- 17:56Speaker 2: the trade deadline.
- 17:58Speaker 4: This might be the best thing for my Elias. He's
- 18:01Speaker 4: been so reluctant to trade any of his prospects to
- 18:07Speaker 4: get big leaguers, like, oh, no, we're winning, who would
- 18:11Speaker 4: I get rid of? Who would I? And I think
- 18:13Speaker 4: the moves he's made has kind of put his team
- 18:16Speaker 4: in this spot and it might be better for him now.
- 18:20Speaker 4: He's like, all right, well, both the catchers are cooked.
- 18:23Speaker 4: We've been losing here after a nice, nice long winning streak.
- 18:27Speaker 4: I guess we'll kind of stam pat. I really still
- 18:30Speaker 4: think these next few these next few games, I say,
- 18:34Speaker 4: they have about seven games to prove. Hey, you know what,
- 18:36Speaker 4: We're going to stay in this thing. It's not a fluke.
- 18:39Speaker 4: And I mean, I'm sorry, but you can't have Chadow
- 18:44Speaker 4: with Trump and Sam.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Huff for the rest of the time.
- 18:46Speaker 4: But the Basayo injury, because that injury came out while
- 18:49Speaker 4: we were on the show, I didn't know what it was.
- 18:51Speaker 4: He's dealt with this risked irritation. He said he has
- 18:55Speaker 4: a growth earlier in the year, and it almost sounded
- 18:58Speaker 4: like the front office coaches manager of Nike shack is
- 19:02Speaker 4: sure who said it. I'd have to go back and
- 19:04Speaker 4: look at it, but they were kind of like, you
- 19:06Speaker 4: know what, there's sometimes that we got to play through
- 19:09Speaker 4: some things, and Samuel Basia was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 19:13Speaker 4: I know what I need to play through and what
- 19:15Speaker 4: I can't.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So I don't know. I don't know where this.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Goes ways shoulder. It's a shoulder. I was, I was badly.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Richman went with the left rist, so it was Pasio's shoulder.
- 19:27Speaker 3: It was a right shoulder. So it's kind of hard
- 19:28Speaker 3: to be a catcher if you can't throw with your
- 19:30Speaker 3: right shoulder.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Or or hit because that's your front side left hand
- 19:37Speaker 4: and you're you're pushing with that with that front shoulder,
- 19:39Speaker 4: and I just it's a tough spot. I think it's
- 19:43Speaker 4: great for Michael Oas so he doesn't have to be
- 19:45Speaker 4: put in a hard spot between a rock and a
- 19:47Speaker 4: hard place. Like I can't get rid of many of
- 19:48Speaker 4: my prospects. How am I supposed to upgrade if I
- 19:50Speaker 4: get it? Look at what it I got rid of
- 19:52Speaker 4: Joey Ortiz and I got and dial Hall for Corbyn
- 19:55Speaker 4: burns Like I did that, I'm not going to do
- 19:57Speaker 4: that again. Like who knows what Michael Oas is thinking,
- 20:00Speaker 4: But he hasn't hit the right buttons.
- 20:02Speaker 1: The dudes in the.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Field need to play, and now it's going to be
- 20:05Speaker 4: even tougher because they lost their all star Adlie Ritchman.
- 20:09Speaker 4: All right, Next is Jack Flaherty is on the il
- 20:11Speaker 4: with right flexer inflammation, which if you don't know what
- 20:15Speaker 4: that is, that's a right kind of four army for
- 20:19Speaker 4: elbow e four army.
- 20:21Speaker 3: It's kind of about right in here. Usually it is
- 20:22Speaker 3: where or Kimby on top. It just depends on where
- 20:24Speaker 3: you're flexing. This is not good for the Tigers, the
- 20:27Speaker 3: team that's made a little bit of a run to
- 20:29Speaker 3: get back into this. But you know from Bravaldez pitched
- 20:33Speaker 3: terrible last night. Jack Flerty has been pitching really well.
- 20:35Speaker 3: To lose him at a key time, this might signal
- 20:39Speaker 3: the end for the Tigers and maybe Terry school.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Man, especially since the Tigers since the beginning of June
- 20:48Speaker 4: I think have been hitting, or maybe the beginning of
- 20:50Speaker 4: Yeah it was before June. They've they've been or it's
- 20:53Speaker 4: been June they've been hitting. I just think it's too little,
- 20:57Speaker 4: too late.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I get it.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Frams one start, it's never good you have you don't
- 21:02Speaker 4: even get out.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Of the first inning.
- 21:05Speaker 4: I just think this is the time, because let's say
- 21:07Speaker 4: they're a five hundred team today and they're not, but
- 21:10Speaker 4: let's say they were. Yes, you still have Errek scougl. Yes,
- 21:13Speaker 4: your offense is improving, but Framber hasn't been that low
- 21:17Speaker 4: three Zra guy that I think they paid for when
- 21:20Speaker 4: they got them Jack Flaherty had turned it around. But
- 21:24Speaker 4: you know what, besides Schooble, how many of these dudes
- 21:26Speaker 4: are going deep into the games consistently and this bullpen
- 21:29Speaker 4: just does not strike enough guys out. So I have
- 21:32Speaker 4: a tough time saying, yeah, they should, they should trade,
- 21:37Speaker 4: or they should they should push all in because this
- 21:39Speaker 4: is the last time they have school. I just don't
- 21:41Speaker 4: think it's a good enough team, and I think it's
- 21:44Speaker 4: time to shift to Okay, what kind of epic hall
- 21:48Speaker 4: can we get for Tarrek Scouble and what do we
- 21:51Speaker 4: need to reset this organization to win sooner rather than later.
- 21:55Speaker 7: What if you can actually have it all?
- 21:57Speaker 5: And I'm talking about mint Mobile taking the premium wireless

- 22:57Speaker 3: If you're watching on TV and on the podcast Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Joshua Caroda grauer a's hottest hitter. Under his emergency surgery
- 23:07Speaker 3: for rupture testicle. On Monday night, he hit a foul
- 23:11Speaker 3: ball off his nether regions. He finished the about he
- 23:14Speaker 3: actually got a hit in single one played a half
- 23:15Speaker 3: enning of defense. He managed to play for through it
- 23:19Speaker 3: for an inning. Marcotte had to go to the hospital.
- 23:22Speaker 3: He had to have emergency surgery. He's in great spirits.
- 23:24Speaker 1: He was joking.
- 23:25Speaker 3: His personality is amazing, said Katsee. Martine Diego said this,
- 23:29Speaker 3: I think he might be the only player in history
- 23:31Speaker 3: to rupture testicle, stay in the game, get a hit,
- 23:34Speaker 3: and play another half inning of defense.
- 23:36Speaker 2: So al, but I'll say this.
- 23:38Speaker 3: So when I coach kids and high school kids, and
- 23:42Speaker 3: I was just again at USA Baseball, I tell people
- 23:46Speaker 3: this all the time. There's kids that don't want to
- 23:48Speaker 3: wear a cup. And let's say, if you played the outfield,
- 23:51Speaker 3: I can't control it. If you pitch and it's uncomfortable,
- 23:53Speaker 3: can't control it. But if you play catcher or you
- 23:56Speaker 3: play infield, I tell people this all the time. I
- 23:58Speaker 3: saw Adrian Beltre, who was in the Hall of Fame.
- 24:00Speaker 3: He's got a bunch of gold gloves. He got hit
- 24:03Speaker 3: in the nether region and had this same problem. He
- 24:05Speaker 3: had to go to the hospital and have emergency surgery
- 24:07Speaker 3: on a testicle. And I look at him and say,
- 24:09Speaker 3: are your hands better than Adrian Beltra? They all say no,
- 24:12Speaker 3: And then I say, We'll wear a dang cup because
- 24:14Speaker 3: exactly so, listen, it sucks, it hurts, but at least
- 24:19Speaker 3: a cup hopefully we'll save you from having to have
- 24:22Speaker 3: surgery and on a ruptured testicle.
- 24:25Speaker 4: I saw Yadir Molina was wearing a cup and had
- 24:29Speaker 4: a ruugher testicle, and then he went to the the
- 24:32Speaker 4: whatever the bulletproof cup is. But I have two stories
- 24:35Speaker 4: because I've been coaching high school baseball now for four years,
- 24:39Speaker 4: and just this year, I was talking to the infielders
- 24:42Speaker 4: and I'm like, guys, why are we oh laying balls?
- 24:45Speaker 4: Why are we sidestepping balls? I was like, do we
- 24:48Speaker 4: not have our cups on? And they all kind of
- 24:50Speaker 4: just looked around, like, I'm my guy, seriously, do you
- 24:54Speaker 4: not have a couple on? They're like, no, we don't
- 24:58Speaker 4: wear a cup. And I was flabbergasts. As much as
- 25:01Speaker 4: my mind was blown by that, I told the guys,
- 25:03Speaker 4: I'm like, we gotta go get a we gotta go
- 25:05Speaker 4: get a cup. Like you guys gotta go get a cup.
- 25:08Speaker 4: I can't have you. You gotta square the ball up.
- 25:10Speaker 4: It's uncomfortable. I don't want to. You're gonna wear a cup,
- 25:14Speaker 4: You're gonna square it up. You're a better player with it.
- 25:16Speaker 4: As much as my mind was blown to that, this
- 25:19Speaker 4: past weekend, the second catcher on my son's team came in,
- 25:25Speaker 4: caught the very first pitch of the get or didn't
- 25:27Speaker 4: catch the very first pitch of the game, foul tip,
- 25:30Speaker 4: very first pitch of the game, right into the cup,
- 25:34Speaker 4: and I was like, oh man. I was like, ah,
- 25:36Speaker 4: everyone feels for you. You know you're catching and he
- 25:40Speaker 4: stayed down. Young man stayed down for a long time
- 25:44Speaker 4: and came out of the game, and I.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Was like, oh my gosh.
- 25:46Speaker 4: I was like, I got hitting the cup a lot,
- 25:49Speaker 4: a lot as a catcher, it is, but not coming
- 25:52Speaker 4: out of the game third inning, I heard something that
- 25:55Speaker 4: I had never heard before in my life. And maybe
- 25:56Speaker 4: you had heard this before, AJ, but I'd never heard before.
- 26:00Speaker 4: He's never worn a cup. And he's been a catcher
- 26:02Speaker 4: his entire life. He's never ever worn a cup. I
- 26:07Speaker 4: couldn't believe it. So everybody who's listening out there, even
- 26:11Speaker 4: if you watch a game, you should be wearing a cup,
- 26:14Speaker 4: like I just Terry Francona said it. He's like, I
- 26:17Speaker 4: don't even I don't even watch a game without wearing
- 26:20Speaker 4: a cup. Like I think that's hilarious, But it's like
- 26:22Speaker 4: that's just never in my It's never in my vernacular.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I'm going to Milwaukee later on this week. I'm packing
- 26:29Speaker 4: a cup. Sorry, I got kids, I got I got
- 26:33Speaker 4: all the kids I need. That is not something I'm
- 26:36Speaker 4: willing to take. Take a take a flyer on. Hopefully
- 26:40Speaker 4: I don't get hit now. Sorry, I can't do.
- 26:42Speaker 6: It all right?
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, workup, kids. That's the moral of the story.
- 26:47Speaker 3: And by the way, before we get out of injury suck,
- 26:49Speaker 3: here's a good here's a good story. Max Reed's gonna
- 26:52Speaker 3: skip his rehab and he's gonna pitch Game two for
- 26:53Speaker 3: the Yankees against the Pirates. Maybe he saw the Pirates lineup.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:56Speaker 2: He wants to pitch in New York. But this is
- 26:58Speaker 2: one positive story.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Max Freed will skip his rehab outing a start game
- 27:02Speaker 3: two of today's double header against the Pirates. Welcome back,
- 27:07Speaker 3: Garrett Cole and Max Freed. Garrett Cole pitching Game one,
- 27:10Speaker 3: Max Free pitching Game two. Sorry, Pirates hitters, but good luck.
- 27:13Speaker 7: Against that Todd father. Are you hitting some games this summer?

- 28:23Speaker 3: All right, So another update on the collective bargaining. We've
- 28:26Speaker 3: talked about enough. I'm tired of it. I'm sure Crats
- 28:28Speaker 3: is tired of it. Everyone's kind of tired about it.
- 28:30Speaker 3: But talking about it.
- 28:32Speaker 2: But here it is.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Baseball America tweeted inside the new MLB Players Association proposal
- 28:37Speaker 3: for the amateur draft, which is very important to Baseball America.
- 28:40Speaker 3: By the way, moving the draft of June. I'm for it.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Put it in Omaha. That way, the best college players
- 28:45Speaker 3: allegedly are there and people want to come. Preserving draft
- 28:49Speaker 3: eligibility for high school and junior college players and expanding
- 28:51Speaker 3: eligibility to college sophomores.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I'm okay with this. I don't have a problem with this.
- 28:55Speaker 3: I wish they would keep it college juniors the way
- 28:57Speaker 3: it's been, but high school players should be able to go.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Junior college people should be able to go. And I like,
- 29:04Speaker 3: if you bake the decision to go to a big school,
- 29:06Speaker 3: you have to stay for three years. I think that's
- 29:08Speaker 3: the penalty and the tough choice you have to make
- 29:10Speaker 3: if you're that could keep twenty rounds. I wish it
- 29:13Speaker 3: was long more than that. Permitting clubs to trade draft picks.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I don't know why they've never been able to do that.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Increase signing bonuses, well, yeah, the Player Association wants more
- 29:22Speaker 3: money for signing bonuses, maintaining competitive balance selections for smaller markets, fine,
- 29:27Speaker 3: no problem. And then increase signing bonus pools for lower
- 29:30Speaker 3: revenue teams. Fine, give them a better chance to sign
- 29:34Speaker 3: better players if they think that'll help.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I like this.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Proposal from the PA.
- 29:39Speaker 3: The owners will never go for it because they're gonna say, oh,
- 29:41Speaker 3: you're getting everything you want, all the players want. But
- 29:43Speaker 3: I think this is a good start to try to
- 29:45Speaker 3: figure this thing out. And then if you're going to
- 29:47Speaker 3: say the World Draft, the international Draft, I don't know
- 29:49Speaker 3: that that's going to happen. But for me, I like
- 29:51Speaker 3: what the PA did. I like all of these suggestions
- 29:54Speaker 3: they have. You know, you could tweak a thing here
- 29:56Speaker 3: or there, but the biggest one for me, move the
- 29:59Speaker 3: draft to But the reason they won't move the draft
- 30:02Speaker 3: of June is because in July then they don't need
- 30:05Speaker 3: short season teams, they don't need as many teams in
- 30:07Speaker 3: the minor leagues, and they can just keep the player.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Like a lot of these players that are drafted in July,
- 30:14Speaker 3: they don't sign to almost August, and then they barely
- 30:16Speaker 3: get to play.
- 30:17Speaker 2: They might get a few bats or a couple innings.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Some of them don't play at all.
- 30:20Speaker 3: We're in the old in the past, if you were
- 30:21Speaker 3: drafted in June, you sign, you got that first season
- 30:24Speaker 3: in and accounted towards you having to be protected on
- 30:27Speaker 3: the forty man, it doesn't count anymore. So therefore, guess
- 30:30Speaker 3: what the owners gain another round of control on minor
- 30:32Speaker 3: league players.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I have to look at this round of proposals differently
- 30:39Speaker 4: than just all as a player, like, oh, obviously you
- 30:41Speaker 4: love this because you were a player. My and I
- 30:45Speaker 4: even tweeted it last night. I want all of these
- 30:48Speaker 4: proposals to grow the game, to be better for fans.
- 30:52Speaker 4: I want this to be So, how are these proposals
- 30:55Speaker 4: better for fans? If we shift it to June? You
- 30:58Speaker 4: know what we can do. We can make a spectacle
- 31:00Speaker 4: out of Omaha. We can make a spectacle out of
- 31:03Speaker 4: a college World Series. Yes, not everybody's going to be there,
- 31:07Speaker 4: but you know how many are going to be there,
- 31:09Speaker 4: way freaking more than we're in Philadelphia this year, and
- 31:11Speaker 4: you can have it in one stable location. Now, we're
- 31:14Speaker 4: growing anticipation for the draft that Major League Baseball has said, hey,
- 31:20Speaker 4: you know what, we are not saying it out loud,
- 31:23Speaker 4: but we want to quiet quit on the minor leagues
- 31:26Speaker 4: and just allow colleges to spend the money.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And for fans who.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Say, oh, well, they'll just pump some money into the colleges,
- 31:34Speaker 4: No they won't. It's not going to create better players.
- 31:37Speaker 4: That's not development. Colleges don't develop players. Wake Forest develops pitchers,
- 31:43Speaker 4: Tennessee develops pictures. West Virginias get their pitching lab. Yes,
- 31:47Speaker 4: there are places that do really good at creating a
- 31:50Speaker 4: type of player and increasing talent. But college is not
- 31:55Speaker 4: the place where you should allow your minor league development
- 31:58Speaker 4: to happen. Because coaches need to win, want to win.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Colleges pay them to win. So to me, Major League
- 32:05Speaker 4: Baseball shifts it back to June like it was. Now,
- 32:09Speaker 4: you have a marquee event that's already there, let's just
- 32:12Speaker 4: piggyback off of that. Let's join forces, and possibly some
- 32:16Speaker 4: of the guys that are going to get drafted are
- 32:18Speaker 4: already there because they're already playing on those teams.
- 32:21Speaker 1: So that's one of the things that I really like.
- 32:24Speaker 1: And the other thing that I like is.
- 32:25Speaker 4: The fact that the fans would be able to watch
- 32:30Speaker 4: this and now have an anticipation something that is completely
- 32:35Speaker 4: I mean, even the place that hosted the draft last
- 32:37Speaker 4: year or this season in Philly. They were breaking the
- 32:41Speaker 4: set down while we were still talking about while we
- 32:44Speaker 4: were still watching coverage. Stuff like that doesn't happen in
- 32:48Speaker 4: sports that really show their draft or highlight their draft.
- 32:52Speaker 4: And I think this is something that Major Baseball needs
- 32:56Speaker 4: to make sure when they counter back to the players.
- 32:59Speaker 4: It's not only about the money. I get a lot
- 33:01Speaker 4: of CBA is about money. I understand that, but it's
- 33:05Speaker 4: there has to be a fan experience. There has to
- 33:07Speaker 4: be a fan interaction anticipation that grows the game that
- 33:13Speaker 4: I think if both sides are willing to do that,
- 33:16Speaker 4: it's going to be a lot easier to find that
- 33:18Speaker 4: common ground and not argue so much and maybe not
- 33:22Speaker 4: miss any games next year.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's the key. Let's not miss any games.
- 33:27Speaker 3: And by the way, if you want to see a
- 33:28Speaker 3: really good breakdown of three things I saw this today,
- 33:31Speaker 3: Bridge Rowley broke down three things today on her Instagram
- 33:34Speaker 3: profile about things people aren't talking about as far as
- 33:38Speaker 3: the CBA comes the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. It was
- 33:42Speaker 3: owners don't care if they miss regular season games. They
- 33:44Speaker 3: don't make that much money off them. Especially in April.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Owners only owners have a big thing coming because there's
- 33:50Speaker 3: going to be some new TV agreement deals having to
- 33:53Speaker 3: be reached and if they can't promise one hundred and
- 33:54Speaker 3: sixty two games, they're going to lose money. And then
- 33:57Speaker 3: the third one was an international draft and how David
- 33:59Speaker 3: Ortiz is a Nelson cruise and some other players put
- 34:01Speaker 3: the kaibash Ona at the Union last year. So if
- 34:04Speaker 3: you got a minute, go to britt Duoli and listen
- 34:06Speaker 3: to her Instagram post because it's pretty interesting on some
- 34:09Speaker 3: different things that most people don't talk about. They're under
- 34:11Speaker 3: the radar, things that will definitely be negotiated in this
- 34:15Speaker 3: new CBA. So it's just so much stuff. We're going
- 34:18Speaker 3: to cover it for months, but you know, kind of
- 34:21Speaker 3: rattle on this because we love it.
- 34:24Speaker 4: I love it, I do. I know you keep saying, Ah,
- 34:26Speaker 4: I'm so sick of it. I love it because I
- 34:28Speaker 4: think we're at a inflection point that the owners are
- 34:34Speaker 4: really trying to put their foot down, and I think
- 34:37Speaker 4: they're missing the boat on what fans actually won. I
- 34:41Speaker 4: think they're missing the boat on connecting with the fans
- 34:45Speaker 4: at a time when I think fans are super connected
- 34:48Speaker 4: to the game, and I think we have a chance
- 34:50Speaker 4: to really improve the game. And I think the owners
- 34:54Speaker 4: are really really worried about their private activity and bottom line,
- 34:59Speaker 4: and I think I think it's a chance that we
- 35:01Speaker 4: can grow the game and push it forward with a
- 35:05Speaker 4: lot of good initiatives that could be put into this
- 35:07Speaker 4: CBA if we just get the greed factor out of
- 35:10Speaker 4: the way on both sides.
- 35:13Speaker 3: All right, well we can talk about this tomorrow. I'm
- 35:16Speaker 3: over it, and tomorrow knows Scott again, It'll be Kratz
- 35:20Speaker 3: and I.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Tomorrow again.
- 35:22Speaker 3: So as players only, catchers only, we'll get into more
- 35:25Speaker 3: trade rumors.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I'm sure.
- 35:26Speaker 3: With the guests, I'm sure we'll get into more CBA talk.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Hopefully no one else gets injured. A lot of games
- 35:32Speaker 3: on now, a lot of games come. So thank you
- 35:34Speaker 3: all for watching. And crats out today is not a thing.
- 35:37Speaker 3: So here's what my foul territory had. It's the same
- 35:39Speaker 3: one I've worn since day one. It kind of stinks
- 35:41Speaker 3: a little bit, it's kind of yellow, but you know.
- 35:43Speaker 2: What, we keep rolling. See you guys tomorrow.
