- 0:12Speaker 1: What's good people, is your boy and I see coming
- 0:14Speaker 1: to you live and direct. I got my main man
- 0:16Speaker 1: on the ones and twos, the Human Sports Almanac, the
- 0:20Speaker 1: one and only Jason Baum. Hey, Obama was good man,
- 0:26Speaker 1: how you feeling?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Hey? What up? Goodie? Good Friday? Yeah we made it.
- 0:31Speaker 2: We had it long work week, but hey, congratulations Adam Silver.
- 0:34Speaker 2: He can finally add his now and finally make the
- 0:35Speaker 2: NBA schedule. And we cannot figure out which networks we
- 0:37Speaker 2: can't find games on.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I felt Adam Silver's is pain today because you know,
- 0:45Speaker 1: your boy spent his morning watching the epic poem that
- 0:50Speaker 1: is The Odyssey in one of the only twenty five
- 0:54Speaker 1: Imax seventy millimeter theaters. There's one about forty five minutes
- 0:59Speaker 1: away from me. I made that trick. I got in
- 1:01Speaker 1: there at ten am showing and I watched it, so
- 1:04Speaker 1: I had everything set up for the episode. I knew
- 1:06Speaker 1: afterwards I was gonna have to come back here. I've
- 1:09Speaker 1: had an Aaron I needed to run didn't happen, and
- 1:11Speaker 1: then also had to pick up the kiddos get them home.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Then I had a little bit more like prep just
- 1:16Speaker 1: as far as like setting up the outline for the episode.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Had all the stuff, but had to put it in order,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and then I was gonna be good man, Bron. Thing
- 1:24Speaker 1: happens right before I'm supposed to leave the house. Therefore,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I have to get back. I have to change the
- 1:30Speaker 1: entire thumbnail. I have to go in change the title.
- 1:33Speaker 1: On all the different platforms, We're on all the platforms,
- 1:36Speaker 1: by the way, We're on YouTube. We are on Twitch.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I don't even know what Twitch means, but we're on there.
- 1:41Speaker 1: We're on Facebook, we're on Instagram, we're on x. You
- 1:45Speaker 1: can listen to replays of the live podcast wherever you
- 1:49Speaker 1: get your podcasts everywhere. It's at Independent, Nick at Independent
- 1:54Speaker 1: and Ice no K So yeah, man, So getting home
- 1:59Speaker 1: having to switch all that up. That's why we're coming
- 2:00Speaker 1: to you a little bit late today. But I appreciate
- 2:03Speaker 1: you sticking out with me on this Friday afternoon. Balm
- 2:06Speaker 1: and yeah Lebron to the seventy six ers.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty crazy, how it broke. You heard a lot
- 2:12Speaker 2: of us today apparently, and you know, through renting a
- 2:15Speaker 2: lot of our lives this morning.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, listen, ay man, he still moves the needle
- 2:19Speaker 1: like that, you know, all these years later him making
- 2:24Speaker 1: a decision is just as polarizing and just as newsworthy.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I don't think it will be quite as impactful, though.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So Lebron decides to go to Philly. Uh, this is
- 2:36Speaker 1: a decision that he makes after, you know, holding the
- 2:39Speaker 1: NBA hostage for a couple of weeks. Many people had
- 2:44Speaker 1: basically said it was down to either Miami or Cleveland.
- 2:47Speaker 1: These last few days, the Philly chatter was increasing, and
- 2:52Speaker 1: clearly it was for a good reason. I listened to
- 2:54Speaker 1: Shams talk about it, and he said, you know, he
- 2:56Speaker 1: kept reaching out to Philadelphia players, he kept talking through things,
- 3:01Speaker 1: and now he does end up taking his talents to
- 3:04Speaker 1: the city of brotherly love. So there's a couple of
- 3:09Speaker 1: different ways I want to look at this. I actually
- 3:13Speaker 1: I want to save the one that I think is
- 3:15Speaker 1: the most important. Actually, you know what we're gonna go
- 3:17Speaker 1: with it. First, First, we're gonna talk legacy. Secondly, then
- 3:20Speaker 1: we're gonna talk just overall basketball fit. Okay, So first
- 3:25Speaker 1: and foremost legacy wise, I think, out of all the
- 3:32Speaker 1: things that Lebron has done that give you a reason
- 3:37Speaker 1: to call him soft or not, put him in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: upper upper levels of the echelons with the Michaels, the Kobe's,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and the Brunson's. I think that if you uh really
- 3:56Speaker 1: take don't don't. I see you laughing at you might
- 3:59Speaker 1: not be on camera, but I see you over there.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I see you. I said it correctly, the Michaels, the Kobe's,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and the Brunson's. Now, if you want to look back
- 4:09Speaker 1: to things like the twenty ten twenty eleven finals, if
- 4:13Speaker 1: you want to look back to things like deciding to
- 4:17Speaker 1: form a super team down in Miami, if you want
- 4:23Speaker 1: to look to them doing that to be able to
- 4:25Speaker 1: beat Boston, still not be able to beat Boston, and
- 4:27Speaker 1: then going and recruiting one of the guys from Boston
- 4:30Speaker 1: that mister ray Allen, to come over there to finally
- 4:33Speaker 1: get over the hump. If you want to look at
- 4:37Speaker 1: deciding to go back to Cleveland when they're a much
- 4:40Speaker 1: better team to actually get the job there done, when
- 4:44Speaker 1: you couldn't bring them the championship as their prodigital son
- 4:49Speaker 1: drafted number one. You couldn't do it. Then you left,
- 4:53Speaker 1: You learned how to win. You gotta kumble under your
- 4:56Speaker 1: belt where. Don't get me wrong, those two championships in Miami,
- 5:02Speaker 1: he was great, but that was after you know, having
- 5:07Speaker 1: a Finals where Dwayne Wade was begging him, pleading with
- 5:10Speaker 1: him to just wake up and become himself. Then you
- 5:16Speaker 1: go back to LA and you know a d comes too,
- 5:22Speaker 1: so you're kind of looking at your post career career
- 5:27Speaker 1: and setting up the entire you know, you know Lebron
- 5:32Speaker 1: media mogul out in Hollywood as a member of the
- 5:36Speaker 1: Lakers with the cache haited that brings you and you
- 5:39Speaker 1: go out there and you get yourself another championship, albeit
- 5:45Speaker 1: in the bubble, with you know, not exactly the same conditions,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and I would say a championship that many people put
- 5:54Speaker 1: an asterisk next to, though I think that's stuff. Listen,
- 5:56Speaker 1: my team won during a strike year during the bubble.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I know I would I would still love that shit
- 6:01Speaker 1: the same. But all those things are things that some people,
- 6:07Speaker 1: depending on how they're inclined, could consider soft. And then
- 6:12Speaker 1: this offseason you decide that you have to leave LA.
- 6:16Speaker 1: There's a myriad of different reasons why that could be.
- 6:21Speaker 1: You weren't happy and it didn't really seem like they
- 6:23Speaker 1: wanted you back that much. You say, the decision is
- 6:25Speaker 1: not about money, it's about winning. You know, you have
- 6:29Speaker 1: the chance to go back home to a team that
- 6:31Speaker 1: made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year and
- 6:34Speaker 1: get them over the hump. There's talk that if the
- 6:37Speaker 1: Knicks had not won the championship, you would go back
- 6:39Speaker 1: there to be able to be the guy who brings
- 6:41Speaker 1: the championship back to New York. There's the whole thing
- 6:46Speaker 1: of going back to Miami, a team that you already
- 6:48Speaker 1: played with. Giannis just went there. You know, it doesn't
- 6:52Speaker 1: do too much for the overall le legacy if you
- 6:56Speaker 1: go there and win, other than just adding a fifth championship,
- 6:59Speaker 1: but there's this synergy. It's a place you've already done
- 7:02Speaker 1: it there. You know, you know you and Janna is
- 7:05Speaker 1: teaming up. There's some interest there. Instead, you decide to
- 7:12Speaker 1: go to the Philadelphia seventy six ers, a team that
- 7:18Speaker 1: just acquired the biggest i'd say the biggest player to
- 7:23Speaker 1: change teams this offseason, The most seismic move until Lebron's
- 7:27Speaker 1: decision was Philadelphia getting traded I'm sorry, Philadelphia getting Jaylen
- 7:32Speaker 1: Brown after the Boston Celtics society to blow up their
- 7:37Speaker 1: core and so they've already made a big swing. And
- 7:42Speaker 1: what this just goes to show you is that He's
- 7:48Speaker 1: always been this guy. He's still this guy. He just
- 7:52Speaker 1: simply wants to stack the deck in his favor. It's
- 7:59Speaker 1: not about what's fun and what could be cool. If
- 8:01Speaker 1: that was the case, it would have been Golden State
- 8:03Speaker 1: from the writ from the very beginning, it would have
- 8:06Speaker 1: been Golden State. They at one point everybody felt like
- 8:11Speaker 1: that was the leader in the clubhouse because first and
- 8:14Speaker 1: foremost Draymond decided to, you know, not opt in and
- 8:18Speaker 1: therefore give them more flexibility. And I think a lot
- 8:21Speaker 1: of people have just thought that that was the way
- 8:23Speaker 1: it was going to go, because it was the thing
- 8:24Speaker 1: that made the most sense basketball wise, overall interest, level
- 8:33Speaker 1: of coolness. But at the end of the day, he
- 8:38Speaker 1: decides to go to Philly. Philly who was fourth a
- 8:41Speaker 1: week ago and like I said, had been creeping up
- 8:44Speaker 1: throughout the week. If you listen to the people that
- 8:47Speaker 1: clearly were in the know, personally, it's the softest movie
- 8:52Speaker 1: could possibly make. It's soft, and it shows in my opinion. God,
- 8:59Speaker 1: it's hard for me to say that bron doesn't understand
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's something having to do a basketball that he doesn't
- 9:04Speaker 1: understand or doesn't get it. But not only it's not
- 9:08Speaker 1: even like I look at this and I'm like, man,
- 9:10Speaker 1: this is whack. Like, you know, now Philly's going to
- 9:13Speaker 1: be so good. They went and they made this super team, Like,
- 9:15Speaker 1: you know, this isn't how it's supposed to be. I
- 9:17Speaker 1: like it when a team builds a team from scratch
- 9:20Speaker 1: and you know, really has a core of guys as
- 9:22Speaker 1: opposed to just like assembling Avengers. All those things actually
- 9:25Speaker 1: are true. But the part that's not is is that
- 9:29Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to be that good adding
- 9:35Speaker 1: Lebron to that team, a team where I was already
- 9:39Speaker 1: saying with the addition of Jalen Brown that I felt
- 9:43Speaker 1: like this was going to be bad for the ascendants
- 9:49Speaker 1: to superstardom for a guy who I think has the
- 9:52Speaker 1: ability in Tyrese Maxi. But in addition to that, I
- 9:58Speaker 1: just see certain basket reasons why this just doesn't make sense. So,
- 10:04Speaker 1: first and foremost, there's a lot of mouths to feed.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna pull up a tweet something that I reposted
- 10:13Speaker 1: earlier from my guy xj over at Hot Hand Theory.
- 10:16Speaker 1: If you want to learn about basketball, especially from an
- 10:19Speaker 1: analytic perspective, go check out at Hot Hand Theory. With
- 10:25Speaker 1: my guys x J and Jeff. This is these are
- 10:28Speaker 1: some of the smartest people when it comes to basketball
- 10:32Speaker 1: that I've ever been around. And you know they're they're
- 10:36Speaker 1: they're friends of the show. They do great work over there,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and they do a great job of explaining it in
- 10:40Speaker 1: a way that's digestible for Neanderthals like me. But he
- 10:45Speaker 1: put up a tweet and he said, the only team
- 10:47Speaker 1: in the NBA, and this is XJ at Xavier J
- 10:52Speaker 1: designs the only team in the NBA with at least
- 10:56Speaker 1: four players who were within who were within the top
- 10:59Speaker 1: forty in usage Philly. No other team has more than
- 11:03Speaker 1: two seventy six ers. Won't miss a beat when embat
- 11:06Speaker 1: is out, but they also won't be considerably better when
- 11:09Speaker 1: everyone's healthy. This is a flawed roster construction in my opinion,
- 11:15Speaker 1: and I retweeted it and said, in Layman's terms, there's
- 11:21Speaker 1: only one basketball. There's only one basketball. And at the
- 11:25Speaker 1: end of the day, I really want to see how
- 11:27Speaker 1: they're going to try and make this work where you're
- 11:29Speaker 1: getting the most out of all these heliocentric basketball players.
- 11:36Speaker 1: So Edgecomb and Maxi and at times Jalen Brown are
- 11:41Speaker 1: going to be doing some standing in the corner, embads
- 11:49Speaker 1: entire just effect that he can have on the offensive
- 11:54Speaker 1: game if he's not setting a screen for a ball
- 11:57Speaker 1: handler who can then hit him on the pop or
- 11:59Speaker 1: hit him on the ro or he doesn't have the
- 12:01Speaker 1: ball in his hand on his own in an isolation setting.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Who's he's not that valuable. Who's gonna get Chris boshed
- 12:12Speaker 1: on this team? Who's gonna get Kevin Loved on this team?
- 12:18Speaker 2: Ball?
- 12:18Speaker 1: And there's some other stats about how much these guys
- 12:21Speaker 1: are used to having the ball. What do you got
- 12:22Speaker 1: for me?
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yes, sir so Sam Quinn from a CBS He had
- 12:27Speaker 2: a tweet earlier today after the news broke in. It
- 12:29Speaker 2: was about ten to fourteen am our time. Thirty seven
- 12:32Speaker 2: players in the NBA season last year touched the ball
- 12:36Speaker 2: at least sixty four or sixty eight point four times
- 12:39Speaker 2: per game. Five of them now play for the Sixers,
- 12:43Speaker 2: and in order, Tyree s Patsey ninety five point three
- 12:47Speaker 2: touches a game, DJ Edgecombe seventy point five touches a game,
- 12:52Speaker 2: Lebron seventy point one, Joel Embiid sixty nine point four,
- 12:57Speaker 2: Shalen Brown sixty eight point four. So yeah, Yeah, there
- 13:00Speaker 2: is only one basketball how do you share it?
- 13:04Speaker 1: And you have a coach, in my opinion, who is
- 13:07Speaker 1: not very inventive, and honestly, I don't really I don't
- 13:10Speaker 1: think Nick Nurse is that good. I know that I
- 13:13Speaker 1: thought that Mike Brown absolutely rint circles around him last
- 13:16Speaker 1: year in the Eastern Conference semifinals. And yeah, this team,
- 13:20Speaker 1: as far as them versus the Knicks is concerned. They
- 13:26Speaker 1: give me zero hesitation or pause. In that series, You're
- 13:34Speaker 1: gonna have Lebron James matched up against Og and Nnobi.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Og is going to absolutely lock him up, and Lebron
- 13:45Speaker 1: ain't gonna be able to do shit with Og trying
- 13:48Speaker 1: to guard him. I just don't see it, man, I
- 13:55Speaker 1: don't see it. You know, their bench is still weak,
- 14:00Speaker 1: and I'm telling you we're gonna look back on it
- 14:03Speaker 1: and be like that dude, MAXI, Man, I really thought
- 14:07Speaker 1: he was gonna be like one of them ones. He's
- 14:09Speaker 1: a good player, solid player, but he's gonna be one
- 14:12Speaker 1: of them one. But he's gonna be one of those
- 14:13Speaker 1: guys where you kind of wonder, what if he's gonna
- 14:18Speaker 1: get Chris boshed, where he does the things that you
- 14:24Speaker 1: ask him to do. Extremely well, but he doesn't become
- 14:34Speaker 1: this all encompassing heliocentric force that he clearly has the
- 14:40Speaker 1: potential to become. VJ. Edgecomb. VJ Edgecomb is never having
- 14:44Speaker 1: He's not gonna have one player run for him the
- 14:46Speaker 1: entire season. There's not gonna be any possessions where you're like,
- 14:49Speaker 1: all right, VJ, do your thing. Edge COB's gonna be
- 14:51Speaker 1: standing in the corner. He's gonna be running. This team
- 14:54Speaker 1: is gonna be good in transition. They are going to
- 14:56Speaker 1: be good in transition. I mean, uh, Lebron coming up,
- 15:00Speaker 1: and you know Edgecomb and Maxi on the wings out ahead,
- 15:03Speaker 1: and you know Jalen Brown, you know, trailing and finding
- 15:07Speaker 1: a spot. That's pretty that's pretty good. That's pretty good.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And you know, if Philly is looking at this anyway
- 15:14Speaker 1: other than we have to do everything with Mbead and
- 15:18Speaker 1: Lebron to just make sure we get them to the
- 15:21Speaker 1: playoffs as healthy as possible. That has to that, Like
- 15:25Speaker 1: they should be mapping out a whole game plan where
- 15:28Speaker 1: there's you know, no back to backs. You know, there's
- 15:30Speaker 1: gonna be like two three times throughout the season where
- 15:32Speaker 1: we just rest you for like three games straight. You know, they.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I mean, they have to do that definitely with Embid,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and they should be doing it with thirty with forty
- 15:40Speaker 1: two year old Lebron as well. I'll see it, man,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I really don't. I really don't. You know. It makes
- 15:48Speaker 1: the East a little bit more interesting for sure. You
- 15:50Speaker 1: know what it really is going to be great is
- 15:53Speaker 1: that next year in the playoffs, on our way to
- 15:59Speaker 1: a back to back t idol, when Jalen Brunson gets
- 16:03Speaker 1: to eliminate the guy who was too scared to come
- 16:08Speaker 1: here and be the one to bring us back. Brunson
- 16:13Speaker 1: embraced that challenge and he got in one championship. Well,
- 16:20Speaker 1: I don't think Lebron will ever have, which is like
- 16:24Speaker 1: the love of a franchise, an organization and a city.
- 16:29Speaker 1: He fans don't love Lebron like that. Laker fans definitely don't.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I don't even know if Cleveland fans do. There's a
- 16:36Speaker 1: lot of people who love Brin, but when you know
- 16:38Speaker 1: he leaves you twice, how much can you love the guy?
- 16:44Speaker 1: I saw a video yesterday of Jalen Brunson walking in
- 16:50Speaker 1: New York City. The East Coast has been getting the
- 16:54Speaker 1: crazy amount of rain here recently, he's walking in New
- 16:57Speaker 1: York City and he's walking from type place I presume
- 17:02Speaker 1: a restaurant. That's just what I don't know. But he's
- 17:04Speaker 1: walking from a restaurant to his vehicle is black chauffeur
- 17:10Speaker 1: truck obviously, and as he's walking from the one to
- 17:14Speaker 1: the other, there is somebody who like clearly like works
- 17:19Speaker 1: at the restaurant or whatever, who gives him like some
- 17:21Speaker 1: umbrella coverage as he comes out. And then there's somebody
- 17:26Speaker 1: at the truck who is there with the door open
- 17:29Speaker 1: and gives him some an umbrella coverage. Between those people
- 17:33Speaker 1: in the eight steps that he had to take, random
- 17:36Speaker 1: people on this street from New York City were reaching
- 17:40Speaker 1: out their umbrellas and putting them over Brunson's head. Bom,
- 17:43Speaker 1: have you seen this video?
- 17:47Speaker 2: I actually have to seen this video once you once
- 17:49Speaker 2: you put it in our notes yesterday for the UH
- 17:51Speaker 2: for Today's Jedi, I went and looked it up. I mean,
- 17:54Speaker 2: forty sake, that's that's nothing says love like getting an
- 17:58Speaker 2: umbrella to even walk you know, a steps?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Yo, This is this is literally These people are saying like,
- 18:04Speaker 1: oh no, no, I'm out here prepared with an umbrella. But
- 18:06Speaker 1: I will give up this umbrella for you, JB. Because
- 18:09Speaker 1: you know you you're the fucking King of New York.
- 18:12Speaker 1: He's literally like the whole King of New York thing. No,
- 18:15Speaker 1: it's real, He's literally the King of New York. This
- 18:18Speaker 1: is this is the type of ship that they only
- 18:20Speaker 1: do for kings where people are like, oh my god,
- 18:22Speaker 1: don't let JB get wet.
- 18:24Speaker 2: No, it is. It is very, very real. And the
- 18:27Speaker 2: reason I say that too is because you know, even
- 18:30Speaker 2: if you go back, this is kind of irrelevant, but
- 18:32Speaker 2: also kind of relevant. When Aaron Judge was going through
- 18:35Speaker 2: his free agency, if he had signed with the Giants
- 18:37Speaker 2: and he had done great, it wouldn't have hit the
- 18:39Speaker 2: same as hitting it wouldn't hit the same as he
- 18:41Speaker 2: had done it in New York. And now he had
- 18:43Speaker 2: his chances to keep blew it and he's not the
- 18:46Speaker 2: King of New York. Jalen Brudson clearly is, though.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know what the thing is is that
- 18:51Speaker 1: if the Yankees going they win the World Series and
- 18:53Speaker 1: and Aaron Judge is amazing in the World Series, in
- 18:56Speaker 1: these World Series MVP, that's like a great great Even
- 19:00Speaker 1: then I think he still just pulls even with him
- 19:02Speaker 1: he doesn't pull ahead because it's the Knicks are different. No,
- 19:04Speaker 1: it's a different thing.
- 19:05Speaker 2: And and it's Huhn did it first.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Nick did it first, and Nick did it for the
- 19:10Speaker 1: first time in fifty three years. It's a different thing.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yeah, No, the Nick did it first. They Brunt and
- 19:18Speaker 2: b Judge to the punch. So jone will get alove,
- 19:21Speaker 2: but he would still be behind Brunts and for New
- 19:23Speaker 2: York City popularity king in my opinion.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. And you know, we're gonna talk about Brunson
- 19:28Speaker 1: a little bit later and a certain snub. It seems
- 19:31Speaker 1: like he's gotten everything, but recently he's been snubbed and
- 19:34Speaker 1: it's uh, it is unleashed the fury of nicks Twitter
- 19:38Speaker 1: all over a certain video game outfit. We'll get to
- 19:42Speaker 1: that here in a second. But yeah, man, I don't
- 19:44Speaker 1: what do you think about the Broun thing, because I just,
- 19:46Speaker 1: for me, I don't see it, and I'm not and
- 19:47Speaker 1: I really I'm not being a hater. I think that
- 19:50Speaker 1: I think Philly got better. I think Philly got better overall.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I think for him personally, it is just the softest
- 19:55Speaker 1: thing that he could possibly do once again, to try
- 19:57Speaker 1: to take the path of least resistance. It's just typical Lebron.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And then also I think that basketball wise, I don't.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I don't think it's the best.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Fit, all right, So I'm gonna go from a basketball
- 20:07Speaker 2: So I'm gonna start with a basketball standpoint. We've been
- 20:09Speaker 2: talking to all this stuff about their offense. What we're
- 20:11Speaker 2: not talking about is their defense. They had the so
- 20:16Speaker 2: Philly was they had the eleventh. They had allowed the
- 20:18Speaker 2: eleventh most points per game in the league last season
- 20:21Speaker 2: a little over one fifteen. Maxi is still there and
- 20:25Speaker 2: Beads still there. Paul George, who's a good defender, no
- 20:27Speaker 2: longer there, but Brown is. However, edge Come's not great,
- 20:31Speaker 2: and we don't know what's on their bench, so those
- 20:33Speaker 2: defensive points were game allowed could go skyrocketting up. They
- 20:37Speaker 2: were only middle of the pack last year until Little
- 20:39Speaker 2: Offense to sixteen, so it'll probably bump it up a
- 20:43Speaker 2: little bit, but it won't make it a cheat code
- 20:47Speaker 2: and some of the other things are missing. They so
- 20:51Speaker 2: they traded Paul George, which you know I get for
- 20:54Speaker 2: salary matching and playoff payout. Yeah, layoff pa pandemic piece,
- 20:58Speaker 2: but he was still the best three point shooter on
- 20:59Speaker 2: that team last year. They don't have a single guy
- 21:02Speaker 2: last year who made over thirty seven percent on threes.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Where's the three point shooting in that in that starting lineup?
- 21:08Speaker 1: In today's NBA, you got a starting lineup and there's
- 21:11Speaker 1: not one guy there that you would even consider a
- 21:13Speaker 1: quote unquote shooter. There's some scorers, there're all there's there's
- 21:16Speaker 1: five scores, you know, definitely four like established scorers in
- 21:19Speaker 1: the league, and a fifth guy who shows the potential
- 21:22Speaker 1: to really be that. But there's not one shooter on
- 21:24Speaker 1: the floor. That's not the that's not the modern league,
- 21:27Speaker 1: not anymore.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Maxy, you know, he can get there, and he's gonna
- 21:32Speaker 2: that's probably a part of his game. He's going to
- 21:34Speaker 2: have to elevate this year. They're gonna need him to shoot,
- 21:36Speaker 2: you know, thirty eight plus percent from downtown, you know,
- 21:40Speaker 2: and edgecum is gonna have to probably go thirty six
- 21:42Speaker 2: thirty seven pm they do that. I'm saying they're gonna
- 21:46Speaker 2: have to not.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no, no, I know, I know, I'm
- 21:48Speaker 1: just I just you know, I don't see it happening.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I don't need it. So there's all that, and then
- 21:54Speaker 2: you have team pre throw percentage. Philly was very good
- 21:56Speaker 2: at that. Last year, they're fourth in league team three
- 21:58Speaker 2: throw percentage, they're a little under their shade, under eighty percent.
- 22:02Speaker 2: You know, Jaylen Brown last year right around that seventy
- 22:05Speaker 2: nine percent. Bron's out a seventy three seven five percent
- 22:09Speaker 2: drop from twenty four to twenty five.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, Bron that he's never been the level of free
- 22:17Speaker 1: throw shooter that he needs to be for a guy
- 22:19Speaker 1: who has the ball in his hands as much as
- 22:20Speaker 1: he does. And I think that you look at this
- 22:24Speaker 1: team and you say, Okay, offensively, it feels like it's
- 22:27Speaker 1: going to be a lot of like taking turns like
- 22:29Speaker 1: your turnmind turn type shit. And then also the other
- 22:32Speaker 1: thing that I feel like is that they're going to
- 22:38Speaker 1: they don't have Again, Nick Nurse is not the coach
- 22:41Speaker 1: to like unlock some like very creative offense where they're
- 22:45Speaker 1: able to, you know, just move and everybody's involved and
- 22:50Speaker 1: everybody's touched it and feeling good. And and yo, if
- 22:53Speaker 1: we get Jaylen Brown, you think he had a tough
- 22:57Speaker 1: time being a second option? What option is on this team?
- 23:04Speaker 1: Who's the first option on this team? I know this
- 23:10Speaker 1: whole Like, who's the leader who's not the leader. All
- 23:12Speaker 1: that other bullshit fuck that. I'm totally a believer, and
- 23:15Speaker 1: especially after what I just saw with my New York knickerbockers.
- 23:18Speaker 1: You need a one, a a clear one, a who
- 23:22Speaker 1: everybody knows who it is, and you need a leader,
- 23:27Speaker 1: a leader. Now Lebron is a leader. Can't take that
- 23:31Speaker 1: away from him. He is a leader. Guys will get
- 23:33Speaker 1: behind him. He understands the game, he knows the game.
- 23:35Speaker 1: He's going to do his best to just you know,
- 23:37Speaker 1: lead by example and also vocally we've seen that from Bron.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Is Jalen Brown ready to really take a back seat
- 23:44Speaker 1: because it seemed like he wasn't really willing to take
- 23:47Speaker 1: a back seat to Tatum.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Is he ready to for brink? The most funny ever?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Had the other interesting stat for Philly too, With all
- 23:55Speaker 2: these guys who touched the ball, they average under three
- 23:58Speaker 2: passes per offensive possession last year.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Jesus, is that crazy low?
- 24:04Speaker 2: That's like bringing that's basically actually bringing up the ball.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Give it to embad and just let him do whatever
- 24:09Speaker 2: right that's gonna happen.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Maybe if embiid gets if he if he gets doubled
- 24:13Speaker 1: one kick, like what is embiid gonna do when Lebron
- 24:16Speaker 1: is fucking dribbling the ball and doing this thing like
- 24:18Speaker 1: like and then I just I just don't see it. Man,
- 24:20Speaker 1: this is this is the classic. There's only one basketball situation.
- 24:24Speaker 1: It's that, I mean to a T and we've seen
- 24:27Speaker 1: this happen. This, this whole super team ship has not
- 24:29Speaker 1: worked in a long time. Clearly they feel like they
- 24:31Speaker 1: can be the ones to make it happen. I don't
- 24:33Speaker 1: see it. I don't see it all right, but you
- 24:38Speaker 1: know it'll be interesting for sure. I saw some people saying, like, oh,
- 24:42Speaker 1: you know, Nicks Phillies game one, gotta see it. I
- 24:45Speaker 1: still say it has to be Philly at Boston has
- 24:48Speaker 1: to be to me, that is that it has to
- 24:50Speaker 1: be game number one. But you know, hey, if it's
- 24:52Speaker 1: like some of these seasons here recently, Lebron probably won't play.
- 24:57Speaker 1: He'll probably be you know, just still uh, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 1: year and up to get ready last year. Remember he
- 25:02Speaker 1: didn't play for quite some time with the Sciatica. There
- 25:04Speaker 1: were some people that said that that was part of
- 25:06Speaker 1: just their overall game plan to have him fresh by
- 25:08Speaker 1: playoff time, which clearly he was, and Lebron listen, Lebron
- 25:11Speaker 1: a great season last year. Lebron's good. I think that
- 25:14Speaker 1: I like this version of Lebron that he's turning into.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You know, I almost feel I find myself rooting for
- 25:20Speaker 1: him a little bit more than I have previously. I
- 25:25Speaker 1: think that today he threw all that out the window
- 25:27Speaker 1: by going to Philly. And not just because I thought
- 25:29Speaker 1: I hate Philly, I hate it. I hate Philly as
- 25:34Speaker 1: definitely all their sports teams. The Eagles I don't hate
- 25:36Speaker 1: because I happened to be an AFC a Jets fan,
- 25:39Speaker 1: so therefore I don't have that hatred like a lot
- 25:41Speaker 1: of my Giants fans Bergsman Jew But I do you know,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I hate the Sixers, and that was something that I
- 25:47Speaker 1: has really really geared up these last few years, with
- 25:49Speaker 1: the NIXT meeting them three times in the playoffs, beating
- 25:52Speaker 1: them all three times, by the way, but you know
- 25:54Speaker 1: Joelle embiating the dirty shit that he does. But then
- 25:58Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Phillies, There's no I don't think there's a
- 26:00Speaker 1: team in sports I hate more than them. Fuck Chase Hutley,
- 26:02Speaker 1: Fuck the Phillies and everything else that the guy that
- 26:05Speaker 1: they have to do with. I fucked him that that
- 26:08Speaker 1: I fucked that park, that that frigging little bandbox, a
- 26:11Speaker 1: little league park that they play in. Fuck their fans,
- 26:14Speaker 1: fuck all of them. Okay, and the best Chiefs Thanks
- 26:16Speaker 1: are made in Jersey. But I dude, man, I I can't.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It's just so this was not to me about It
- 26:27Speaker 1: wasn't about legacy, the whole thing about like, oh, if
- 26:29Speaker 1: the Knicks had lost, he would have went there. If
- 26:30Speaker 1: that's true, it's because he thinks the Knicks are really
- 26:32Speaker 1: that good. Clearly, decision he made was this is the
- 26:35Speaker 1: easiest way for me to try and win. And he's
- 26:37Speaker 1: not a two year deal, player option for the second
- 26:39Speaker 1: year obviously player option. He could walk away from that.
- 26:42Speaker 1: But I wonder if that is a signal that he
- 26:46Speaker 1: really does want to have like a couple more years
- 26:48Speaker 1: of playing and this is not like his last year
- 26:50Speaker 1: in the SWANSA. I don't know. We'll see, because I
- 26:53Speaker 1: don't believe. I don't believe that bron will miss the
- 26:57Speaker 1: opportunity of a farewell tour. Seems like that's straight up
- 27:02Speaker 1: his alley, like he can't wait to have a farewell tour.
- 27:04Speaker 1: So if that's the case, then obviously he's going to announce,
- 27:07Speaker 1: you know, at least early on in that last season
- 27:10Speaker 1: that it is his last season, so everybody can can
- 27:13Speaker 1: give him his due. But yeah, man, you know, we'll see,
- 27:16Speaker 1: we'll see. It's gonna be interesting. So I spent my
- 27:20Speaker 1: morning watching The Odyssey Christopher Nolan, who I love obviously
- 27:26Speaker 1: Matt Damon, even if he doesn't hit all the time.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I don't think anybody can't talk about at least a
- 27:32Speaker 1: couple Matt Damon movies that they really like. And I
- 27:35Speaker 1: went and saw seventy millimeter Imax. There's only twenty five
- 27:40Speaker 1: of those in the country. I went to one that's
- 27:42Speaker 1: about forty five minutes away from me in Mesa, Arizona.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And the very first like scene as it starts, the
- 27:49Speaker 1: music comes on and there's been there's some bass, and
- 27:53Speaker 1: in the Imax, it's like I immediately like it's like
- 27:58Speaker 1: my seat shake, like you know, like it's there are
- 28:02Speaker 1: certain parts in the movie where the sound was so
- 28:04Speaker 1: intense that I was like, this may be the loudest
- 28:06Speaker 1: I've ever heard anything in my entire life.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I am.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I love Greek mythology. I love it. I've loved it
- 28:14Speaker 1: since I was a little kid. And we started learning
- 28:15Speaker 1: about it in school. I've continued to learn about it.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I watched like like, I don't even want I'm not
- 28:20Speaker 1: even in the anime. But Blood of Zeus is an
- 28:24Speaker 1: anime style cartoon that is based in Greek mythology. It's
- 28:33Speaker 1: on Netflix. I think there's been three seasons. It's excellent.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I also have a thirteen year old who she's really
- 28:38Speaker 1: in the Greek mythology. She was excited for me to
- 28:40Speaker 1: see the movie because she wanted to. She wanted because
- 28:41Speaker 1: I have to give the okay for her to be
- 28:43Speaker 1: able to go see it because it's raight our. I
- 28:44Speaker 1: got to see it first. And you know, I listen
- 28:46Speaker 1: to my kids. I certainly just like you know, certain
- 28:50Speaker 1: violence things like that, but like there's certain levels of
- 28:52Speaker 1: like violence and gore, and then there's certain subject matter
- 28:54Speaker 1: that I don't think their young minds need to see
- 28:56Speaker 1: just yet. I told her today when I picked herup
- 28:58Speaker 1: from school, she could see that movie. You can see
- 29:00Speaker 1: the movie and it's a two hours and fifty two
- 29:02Speaker 1: minute running time. And I went by. I went by
- 29:05Speaker 1: myself and it was dope.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: What a movie man, I mean the and I am
- 29:13Speaker 1: I am not the part. First of all, I don't
- 29:15Speaker 1: even like seeing movies in theaters. It's gotta really be
- 29:18Speaker 1: a movie, you get me. Uh really, the only movies
- 29:20Speaker 1: that I've religiously seen in theaters is me and my
- 29:23Speaker 1: dad have a thing with The Mission Impossibles. We always
- 29:26Speaker 1: go see those right when they come out in theaters.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And after that some of the Marvel movies. Like my
- 29:31Speaker 1: kids really in the Spider Man. Now, I grew up
- 29:32Speaker 1: loving Spider Man. We've watched the cartoon from the nineties together,
- 29:35Speaker 1: which the cartoon from the nineties, Spider Man is the
- 29:37Speaker 1: greatest cartoon, like like like superhero cartoon. It's I actually
- 29:42Speaker 1: think it's even better than the X Men cartoon that
- 29:44Speaker 1: was around that same time. Spider Man's even better. And
- 29:51Speaker 1: you know those Spider Man move Spider Man like, I'll
- 29:53Speaker 1: see that next week. Me and my son are super stoked.
- 29:55Speaker 1: We'll go see the Spider Man movie.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:57Speaker 1: But like, I don't really I don't really like to
- 29:58Speaker 1: see movie theaters.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Man.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I like to be able to get up and you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: go to the bathroom or just control my setting a
- 30:08Speaker 1: little bit more, be able to have whatever food or
- 30:11Speaker 1: drink at my fingertips without having to, you know, pay
- 30:15Speaker 1: exorbitant prices for garbage versions of all these foods. There's
- 30:19Speaker 1: anybody who starts to tell me any food other than
- 30:22Speaker 1: popcorn at the movie theaters is good, You're bugging. It's
- 30:24Speaker 1: all garbage. I'm not really a big candy guy, so
- 30:27Speaker 1: I'm not gonna sit there and eat candy. It's just
- 30:28Speaker 1: not not my thing. Thank my dad for that. And
- 30:33Speaker 1: so I really don't like seeing movies in theaters. But
- 30:35Speaker 1: then it was like everybody was like, yeah, you gotta
- 30:37Speaker 1: see it. And then it was like, well, it was
- 30:38Speaker 1: shot this particular way, and I even saw a couple
- 30:40Speaker 1: videos showing that, like they literally cut parts of the
- 30:43Speaker 1: screen off that you can't see the movie the way
- 30:46Speaker 1: it was intended if you don't see it. And I'm like, yo,
- 30:48Speaker 1: I live close enough to one of these fucking theaters.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I gotta go. So I went out there and it
- 30:53Speaker 1: was absolutely worth it. It's just a it's such an
- 30:58Speaker 1: epic story there is It's hard to find a movie
- 31:04Speaker 1: where there's a hero in modern times that you can't
- 31:09Speaker 1: say was loosely based on the Odyssey.
- 31:14Speaker 2: It is.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I mean, other than like the Bible, has there ever
- 31:17Speaker 1: been a story that has been told across the entire
- 31:21Speaker 1: world and been this well recognized, this many times duplicated,
- 31:28Speaker 1: and just this well known. It's fantastic. I loved it
- 31:30Speaker 1: when I was a kid reading it in school, even
- 31:32Speaker 1: though that version that we read in school is not
- 31:34Speaker 1: the real version. The real versions like seventeen hundred pages.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I can't say I've read that. And I listened to
- 31:41Speaker 1: Flagrant on the way home, and they talked about some
- 31:43Speaker 1: of the some of the differences and some of the
- 31:45Speaker 1: liberties that Nolan took in this version. First of all,
- 31:48Speaker 1: anytime it's a movie, you're gonna take liberties. Secondly, this
- 31:52Speaker 1: is a like realize, this was like an oral tradition
- 31:55Speaker 1: passed down over times, and even now the exact version
- 32:01Speaker 1: and exactly how things went. It's all mythology, and there's
- 32:05Speaker 1: multiple versions. So them switching it up a little bit
- 32:08Speaker 1: to make it more adaptable and more consumable on the screen,
- 32:12Speaker 1: that doesn't bother me. I'm not somebody who's like, I'm
- 32:14Speaker 1: some fucking you know, Greek mythology historian, and you and
- 32:20Speaker 1: I love you know, the Odyssey and the Iliad, and
- 32:23Speaker 1: you know, I've posters of Homer, which by the way,
- 32:26Speaker 1: no one, there's no there's no like confirmation that Homer
- 32:29Speaker 1: was even a real person. Homer might have been a
- 32:31Speaker 1: group of people from a particular place that that that
- 32:33Speaker 1: continued these oral histories, or it might have been a
- 32:36Speaker 1: person who knows there's not. The whole story of who
- 32:39Speaker 1: Homer actually even is is very, very cloudy. But there
- 32:46Speaker 1: are certain points that you know, there's certain things that
- 32:48Speaker 1: you remember from the story of you know this, there's
- 32:52Speaker 1: the story growing up that we all got that you're like,
- 32:54Speaker 1: you're looking forward to seeing. I don't think it's a
- 32:56Speaker 1: spoiler alert if I say that there's a Cyclops at
- 32:59Speaker 1: some point in the movie, and I mean you're expecting
- 33:01Speaker 1: the Cydeclops. You're getting ready for the Cyclops. And fuck man,
- 33:04Speaker 1: did it pay off. It was fucking awesome. It did
- 33:08Speaker 1: a perfect job of giving you things that are mystical,
- 33:12Speaker 1: things that are like, oh my god, you know, this
- 33:14Speaker 1: is not something that exists on earth as far as
- 33:17Speaker 1: we know, definitely not in modern times, making it look
- 33:21Speaker 1: real enough, and then making things look gritty and barbaric
- 33:23Speaker 1: enough to show the times. I love movies or shows
- 33:29Speaker 1: that give you that grittiness of a time long ago
- 33:34Speaker 1: and make you really feel it. Some great examples Brave
- 33:38Speaker 1: Heart probably my second favorite movie of all time, Claudiator
- 33:42Speaker 1: super high on my list, as well TV shows, Rome,
- 33:46Speaker 1: Game of Thrones. There's been like, Okay, Troy is a
- 33:52Speaker 1: movie people love Troy bomb. Well, how do you feel
- 33:54Speaker 1: about Troy?
- 33:59Speaker 2: I actually never saw I. Yeah, I'm not a big
- 34:02Speaker 2: movie guy either. I don't to theaters very much.
- 34:04Speaker 1: You fucking you don't go anywhere unless there it's a
- 34:07Speaker 1: it's a ballpark, a stadium, or an arena.
- 34:10Speaker 2: That's not true. Ever, now that I go to a
- 34:12Speaker 2: bar fair to watch it for my own games, you know.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So never saw Troy. Okay, Troy was a
- 34:21Speaker 1: movie that everybody made a huge deal about. Brad Pitt
- 34:24Speaker 1: and it. Oh, remind me to tell you about the
- 34:26Speaker 1: trailer from the Brad the Brad Pitt trailer from that
- 34:29Speaker 1: I saw today in the Coming Attractions. But Troy was
- 34:34Speaker 1: a movie that everybody there is I would say, is
- 34:36Speaker 1: overall pretty well received. Like what is the I'm looking
- 34:40Speaker 1: up what is Troy? When you go and you look
- 34:43Speaker 1: at it on like Rotten Tomatoes and this type of ship,
- 34:45Speaker 1: what kind of ratings? It looks seven point three on IMDb.
- 34:49Speaker 1: You know Troy, it's a it's a it's a pretty
- 34:50Speaker 1: well received movie. Overall, Rotten Tomatoes has fifty three percent. Okay.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I didn't think Troy was that good personally. Okay. So
- 34:58Speaker 1: the biggest issue for me with Troy was the fact
- 35:01Speaker 1: that it was rated PG thirteen. And you can't show
- 35:05Speaker 1: me a movie about those times and give it the
- 35:09Speaker 1: level of grittiness and it's barbarism a word, barbaricism, whatever
- 35:16Speaker 1: the fuck the word is. You can't give me that.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Level barbaric I believe is the term.
- 35:22Speaker 1: No, but that but that's not but that's that that
- 35:23Speaker 1: doesn't fit with whatever. You can't give me a level
- 35:25Speaker 1: of barbaric. That's not saying you can't. You can't show
- 35:29Speaker 1: me how barbaric the times were is a way to
- 35:30Speaker 1: say it. But there there should be some barbarism. And
- 35:32Speaker 1: if there's not, I'm inventing it. It's poetic license. You
- 35:35Speaker 1: can't give me the level of barbarism. It sounds like
- 35:39Speaker 1: sounds like somebody's ability to give a really good haircut. No,
- 35:42Speaker 1: but uh yeah, you can't give me that with the
- 35:44Speaker 1: PG thirteen You need you need r and this movie, man,
- 35:50Speaker 1: the effects, the visually the fucking audio of the sound.
- 35:54Speaker 1: I mean, Jesus, I mean it just it was unbelievable.
- 35:57Speaker 1: It was so good. I really really enjoyed it. I'm
- 36:03Speaker 1: contemplating whether or not I want to see it a
- 36:07Speaker 1: second time when my daughter goes to see it, because
- 36:11Speaker 1: it it was good enough, and I feel like it's
- 36:15Speaker 1: probably some things that I missed, And Okay, these are
- 36:18Speaker 1: a couple of things that are hard to do. When
- 36:21Speaker 1: you know how something's going to end, making you feel
- 36:24Speaker 1: compelled and anxious is hard to do. This movie did that.
- 36:30Speaker 1: When you when you're when you're watching something that is
- 36:38Speaker 1: supposed to you're going into it saying like this is
- 36:40Speaker 1: supposed to be so big, it's going to be so epic,
- 36:44Speaker 1: and for it to feel that big and that epic
- 36:46Speaker 1: without like feeling like campy and like it's like trying
- 36:49Speaker 1: to master and commander. Perfect example of a movie that
- 36:54Speaker 1: tried so hard to be so big and so epic.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I was like, dude, I saw that ship when I
- 36:58Speaker 1: was in college. Me and my boy Scott, we were
- 36:59Speaker 1: like Russell Crow on the high seat. It's gonna be
- 37:02Speaker 1: like Gladiator in the high seats. It's gonna be great.
- 37:04Speaker 1: That movie fucking sucked.
- 37:06Speaker 2: It was horrible.
- 37:07Speaker 1: We're sitting there where you're like, yo, and my man
- 37:10Speaker 1: Sky is somebody. He's this dude sees every fucking movie
- 37:12Speaker 1: it ever comes out, and I'm my bad, I hit you.
- 37:20Speaker 1: We might have walked out on I think we might
- 37:22Speaker 1: have walked down on it. Yeah, it was that bad.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I'm telling you though, this movie it felt that big.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Another thing that is really hard to do is have
- 37:30Speaker 1: a movie that has a two hour and fifty two
- 37:32Speaker 1: minute running time that doesn't feel like it drags. Did
- 37:35Speaker 1: not feel like it dragged. The first time I looked
- 37:37Speaker 1: at my clock, I was like, oh shit, we're already
- 37:40Speaker 1: an hour and a half in. So it didn't drag, man,
- 37:44Speaker 1: And there's a lot of build up, but they it's
- 37:47Speaker 1: somehow yet still doesn't drag. It's you know, we're moving,
- 37:49Speaker 1: we're moving, we're moving. When you well, you take seventeen
- 37:51Speaker 1: hundred pages and you put it into fucking three hours,
- 37:53Speaker 1: I guess you know it's got to be fairly action packed.
- 37:56Speaker 1: But it wasn't. Like it's not action packed like a
- 38:00Speaker 1: like you know, like a big like a fucking Bad
- 38:02Speaker 1: Boys or a Mission Impossible anything. It's not like, obviously
- 38:05Speaker 1: it's not like that. There is some awesome, awesome action
- 38:09Speaker 1: scenes and some just awesome like scenes of like even
- 38:13Speaker 1: just dealing with the elements in the high seas and shit.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And there is some disturbing somewhat disturbing scenes too, but
- 38:20Speaker 1: not too bad. And some of the dialogue is amazing.
- 38:25Speaker 1: And the way that it the way it's not totally consequential.
- 38:29Speaker 1: You're doing some jumping back and forth, but it's not
- 38:31Speaker 1: like a fucking pulp fiction where you're like, ah, what's
- 38:34Speaker 1: going on here? It's not like that at all. But
- 38:36Speaker 1: it's not completely linear, fairy good movie. It was awesome. Wait,
- 38:39Speaker 1: so bam, will you go see this movie in theaters?
- 38:41Speaker 1: You have no interest?
- 38:42Speaker 2: I actually do want to see this movie in theaters.
- 38:44Speaker 2: I mean the way you were hyping it up, way
- 38:45Speaker 2: other guys are happing up, I do want to go
- 38:46Speaker 2: see in theaters. You gotta find that. I'm acx. I
- 38:49Speaker 2: did just want to go back. Barbarism is actually the
- 38:51Speaker 2: correct term that you were using.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Let's go, man, let's go.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I did a little google. I looked at barbarianism and
- 38:56Speaker 2: it came up barbarism.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Man, Come on, I see this is the thing. Bro,
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'm not you know, you know, I'm not the smartest
- 39:05Speaker 1: guy in the world. I'm really not. But uh, every
- 39:08Speaker 1: once in a while I get one, right. I gotta
- 39:11Speaker 1: be a little more confident, see, I see, I gotta
- 39:13Speaker 1: I gotta say that ship with my chest next time. Yo, man,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I still can't believe Lebron made that move. I'm interested.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I'm interested now to hear what like some of the
- 39:26Speaker 1: different pundits and shit like that have to say. Speaking
- 39:28Speaker 1: of pundits, on the way home from the movie, listen
- 39:34Speaker 1: to Ryan Clark on The Pivot. I really like Ryan Clark.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I always have. I made that Claire in the last one,
- 39:41Speaker 1: and I'm a fan of his work. I was a
- 39:43Speaker 1: fan of him as a player. I'm a fan of
- 39:44Speaker 1: his work on TV. I know a lot of people
- 39:46Speaker 1: don't feel that way.
- 39:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I put up a real uh you know, of me
- 39:51Speaker 1: talking about Clark last time, and there's so many people
- 39:53Speaker 1: who just coming and like, oh, well, you know, his
- 39:57Speaker 1: his take sting, or he's a race bab there bump up, uh.
- 40:04Speaker 1: I you know, listen the way that he handled it
- 40:07Speaker 1: on the Pivot, him at certain points getting emotional talking
- 40:11Speaker 1: about how much he loved his job, talking about how
- 40:13Speaker 1: much he prepared for talking about how much love he's
- 40:15Speaker 1: gotten from somebody. He's so well respected in the industry,
- 40:18Speaker 1: by athletes, by other people that are TV media personalities.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I think that to me, that says a lot more
- 40:27Speaker 1: to me than the fucking the random Fox or Twitter
- 40:29Speaker 1: or even some of the people that I may know
- 40:31Speaker 1: that don't like him very much. He's well respected, He
- 40:35Speaker 1: does a good job. You might disagree with him, you
- 40:39Speaker 1: might think that he is this or that, and that
- 40:42Speaker 1: might bother you. I think that probably said. If you
- 40:45Speaker 1: disagree with him, then whatever's that's the whole reason that
- 40:48Speaker 1: he puts out content is to be agreed with or
- 40:50Speaker 1: disagreed with, you know what I mean, like to give
- 40:52Speaker 1: his perspective on it. But I think he's a dude
- 40:54Speaker 1: who does it with integrity. I think he's a good
- 40:57Speaker 1: guy to the people that are around him, and I
- 41:01Speaker 1: think he's very well respected amongst his colleagues. And you
- 41:05Speaker 1: can see why when you listen to this episode of
- 41:07Speaker 1: The Pivot Espien did him dirty. I don't care what
- 41:10Speaker 1: you say, not just the whole thing about him getting
- 41:14Speaker 1: told during a commercial break of NFL Live that he
- 41:18Speaker 1: had been let go. But also he goes into some
- 41:22Speaker 1: details I'm doing a podcast there she knew that she
- 41:26Speaker 1: just forgot. But also the the fact that he had
- 41:35Speaker 1: some signs leading up to it some different times where
- 41:39Speaker 1: you know, they change the schedule up on him and
- 41:41Speaker 1: like don't even let him know. He has to call
- 41:44Speaker 1: them and be like hey, like I'm I'm one this
- 41:46Speaker 1: time this time, and they can't even hit him up
- 41:48Speaker 1: and be like, hey, you know, this is the decision
- 41:52Speaker 1: that we've made, Like he has to reach out to them.
- 41:53Speaker 1: And these are people from get Up, which he helped build.
- 41:58Speaker 1: At one point get Up was failing and then they
- 42:01Speaker 1: kind of switched things up and he was part of
- 42:04Speaker 1: that crew that really got get Up getting back to
- 42:07Speaker 1: the point to where it is now. I guarantee you
- 42:09Speaker 1: Greene would say that I know green loves him and
- 42:11Speaker 1: loves having him on, and so I think this was
- 42:17Speaker 1: a decision that was a clear message to anybody who
- 42:20Speaker 1: wants to work for ESPN and Legacy Media at this point,
- 42:25Speaker 1: which is if there's certain issues that you want to
- 42:30Speaker 1: bring up and you want to talk about, you're not
- 42:32Speaker 1: going to be here. It is clear now that there's
- 42:38Speaker 1: nowhere in legacy media where you can point out racism,
- 42:47Speaker 1: the plight of minorities, you cannot bring that up. If
- 42:52Speaker 1: that is something that is already a story, you can
- 42:54Speaker 1: talk about it. If you're the person who is consistently
- 42:57Speaker 1: bringing it up and pointing it out, you're gone. You're
- 43:01Speaker 1: not going to be here. I think we've seen this
- 43:05Speaker 1: in sports for quite some time. To give a little
- 43:09Speaker 1: bit of a history lesson on me and my super
- 43:11Speaker 1: producer Bomb's relationship the year that cal that Colin Kaepernick
- 43:18Speaker 1: was clearly blackballed from the NFL. If you want to
- 43:23Speaker 1: look at that any other way, you're being blind or
- 43:25Speaker 1: are you?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Are you?
- 43:26Speaker 1: You personally don't want to identify and acknowledge the truth.
- 43:35Speaker 1: He was blackballed by the NFL for a peaceful protest. NFL,
- 43:40Speaker 1: the owners, their sponsors, they came in, they said, we
- 43:44Speaker 1: do not like this. They said, okay, we'll make sure
- 43:46Speaker 1: he don't get a job. It was it was so
- 43:48Speaker 1: clear to us, to anybody who's willing to look at
- 43:52Speaker 1: it through a truthful lens. But it was so clear
- 43:59Speaker 1: that the NFL also settled with him and gave him
- 44:01Speaker 1: sixty million dollars rather than go through a court case
- 44:03Speaker 1: where he was going to prove that that was the
- 44:05Speaker 1: case and their overall reputations were going to be I
- 44:11Speaker 1: don't know sullied a little bit more, but I don't
- 44:13Speaker 1: really think they give a fuck, to be honest. But
- 44:16Speaker 1: during that year that he was blackballed, I didn't watch
- 44:19Speaker 1: the NFL. I did not watch one game that entire season.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I feel like the biggest the biggest vote that you
- 44:27Speaker 1: cast is with the dollar that you spend and the
- 44:29Speaker 1: attention that you give. And I totally admit that I'm
- 44:34Speaker 1: somewhat of a fraud now because I only took off
- 44:36Speaker 1: that one year. I didn't just just just sign it
- 44:38Speaker 1: off forever. I admit that that's true, that's real. But
- 44:46Speaker 1: I think it has been super clear that the NFL
- 44:53Speaker 1: does not want this around their game. They do not
- 44:56Speaker 1: the people that make decisions. They do not want open
- 44:59Speaker 1: discourse about the roles that race may play in sports,
- 45:07Speaker 1: and in the NFL particularly. But ESPN has now shown
- 45:10Speaker 1: that they don't want that around their airwaves at all,
- 45:17Speaker 1: because Ryan Clark and coming out and talking about you know,
- 45:21Speaker 1: Angel Reese and Ryan Clark, you know, consistently being somebody
- 45:27Speaker 1: who is willing to point out when he thinks that
- 45:29Speaker 1: race is at play. I think was a major factor
- 45:32Speaker 1: in him getting fired. And so that year, going back
- 45:35Speaker 1: a little bit to where I didn't watch the NFL,
- 45:39Speaker 1: we had a jersey day at work. Baum and I
- 45:41Speaker 1: used to work together at a tech company, and we
- 45:43Speaker 1: had a jersey day at work, and I borrowed as
- 45:45Speaker 1: Kaepernick jersey and I got my share of flack and
- 45:53Speaker 1: or some of it unsaid, but just people notice and
- 46:00Speaker 1: seeing what I was saying by wearing that jersey and listen,
- 46:07Speaker 1: I'm not trying to make it like it was like
- 46:11Speaker 1: people were like up in arms because I wore a
- 46:13Speaker 1: cap in a jersey or anything like that. But I
- 46:14Speaker 1: had a couple conversations about it, and I had some
- 46:16Speaker 1: other people that, you know, I probably wasn't cool enough
- 46:18Speaker 1: and they definitely didn't have the balls enough to say
- 46:20Speaker 1: what they felt really felt, but I felt it, and
- 46:26Speaker 1: I just think, man, we're just we're continuing to see that,
- 46:29Speaker 1: and this is a way that I feel like we
- 46:31Speaker 1: are regressing as a people and specifically as a country,
- 46:35Speaker 1: where these same people that will scream for freedom of
- 46:39Speaker 1: speech when it is applicable and it is advantageous to them,
- 46:46Speaker 1: those same people will do everything to take that freedom
- 46:49Speaker 1: of speech away from people who point out things that
- 46:54Speaker 1: either they don't agree with or make them uncomfortable. And
- 46:57Speaker 1: I think it's a sad and it's a scary place,
- 47:00Speaker 1: especially where in the world it's supposed to be journalism.
- 47:03Speaker 1: This is this is not where we're going in the
- 47:05Speaker 1: wrong direction.
- 47:08Speaker 2: With the other thing. I was going to say, though,
- 47:10Speaker 2: this is not the first time it's happened at ESPN.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Got shout out Jamel Hill and Carry Champion here who
- 47:16Speaker 2: kind of got washed out like that as well. So
- 47:20Speaker 2: this is this is definitely not a new thing for
- 47:22Speaker 2: this network.
- 47:23Speaker 1: The slight difference, in my opinion is this is that
- 47:29Speaker 1: no matter how many people that you see on these
- 47:33Speaker 1: different you know platforms coming in in the comments, whether
- 47:37Speaker 1: it be in the comments of that reel or the
- 47:41Speaker 1: comments after he got you know, fired by ESPN the
- 47:45Speaker 1: tweet that announced it, there's so many people who are
- 47:48Speaker 1: anti him. What you can't argue is that he's extremely popular.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Like he's extremely popular in that space. If you ask
- 47:57Speaker 1: most people to say the top five on air, you know,
- 48:03Speaker 1: in front of the camera analysts of football, a lot
- 48:06Speaker 1: of people would say Ryan Clark and a lot of people,
- 48:09Speaker 1: like I said, in that industry respect him so much.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Jameel hill I like Jamail hill. I don't love Jamil Hill.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I liked to Mail hill I. I was always she was.
- 48:20Speaker 1: She was in that Lebratard world and so therefore I
- 48:23Speaker 1: heard a lot of her Lebratard. She was a consistent
- 48:25Speaker 1: contributor to anything that Lebtard was doing, and so and
- 48:28Speaker 1: then I watched the show with her and what was
- 48:30Speaker 1: his name? Michael A. Smith? Was was his name?
- 48:32Speaker 2: Was?
- 48:32Speaker 1: What was his name?
- 48:34Speaker 2: Bomb?
- 48:34Speaker 1: The dude she did the show with. Do you remember what?
- 48:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Michael Smith. Michael Smith used to be a Boston
- 48:38Speaker 2: kind of reporter. But then I was on ESPN around
- 48:40Speaker 2: the four and all the time.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, one of the strongest hairlines ever, Michael Smith.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Uh but uh yeah him and uh him and Jamil
- 48:48Speaker 1: hill and there so, I you know, so I knew
- 48:50Speaker 1: Jamal Hill. I liked her. She did not have the
- 48:52Speaker 1: level of popularity. She had a lot, plenty of respect
- 48:56Speaker 1: and all that. I mean, she's a real bona fide journalist,
- 48:58Speaker 1: but she did not have the level of popularity as
- 49:02Speaker 1: Ryan Clark has Nah and Carry Champion was more a
- 49:06Speaker 1: host and I like carry Champion, I like, you know,
- 49:08Speaker 1: I like what she brought. I thought she did a
- 49:10Speaker 1: good job. I do believe that those things were involved
- 49:14Speaker 1: with them and them probably you know, being showed the
- 49:17Speaker 1: door by ESPN was the fact that they were willing
- 49:20Speaker 1: to speak up about some of these issues. I agree
- 49:22Speaker 1: with that bomb. But my thing is that what makes
- 49:24Speaker 1: this different is you would think that ESPN, when looking
- 49:30Speaker 1: at the balance sheet, would say that Ryan Clark, as
- 49:33Speaker 1: a personality and as a draw brings more to this
- 49:36Speaker 1: company than he costs. And yet he still got let go.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I think because of the subject matter that he decides
- 49:44Speaker 1: to talk about. Go watch that episode of the Pivot
- 49:47Speaker 1: man him. Uh, you know, he he talks about like
- 49:49Speaker 1: wishing he had you know, done things better and like
- 49:51Speaker 1: made better relationships and stuff like that. Or you know,
- 49:54Speaker 1: he wanted to be on ESPN. He wanted to retire there.
- 49:57Speaker 1: He wanted to be like the old guy like Berman,
- 49:58Speaker 1: like popping in and doing shit. And he thought he
- 50:00Speaker 1: was gonna work there on TV until he was done
- 50:02Speaker 1: in the media game. And he wonders, like, you know,
- 50:05Speaker 1: should he have you know, been more selective with some
- 50:09Speaker 1: of the some of the different subject matter some of
- 50:12Speaker 1: the different leaks that came out about the whole you know,
- 50:15Speaker 1: back and forth he had with old dude about you're
- 50:17Speaker 1: not a you never played the game, And I was
- 50:19Speaker 1: listening to laboratory essay I talk about how and these
- 50:21Speaker 1: are guys obviously who were with ESPN for a very
- 50:23Speaker 1: long time and had a very unceremonious falling out with
- 50:26Speaker 1: them and have now gone on to build their own
- 50:29Speaker 1: thing with Metal Lark Media. And they were talking about
- 50:33Speaker 1: how if you know anything about the inner workings, as
- 50:36Speaker 1: soon as you see the leak, you know exactly who
- 50:39Speaker 1: an ESPN leaked it. And when vine Clark goes into
- 50:43Speaker 1: some of the stuff about how that incident was handled
- 50:47Speaker 1: and some of the thing about it, how it was
- 50:49Speaker 1: leaked in all that. Man, yeah, man, it's all those
- 50:54Speaker 1: guys who are over there.
- 50:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Listen. One of the reasons that McAfee and steven a
- 51:05Speaker 1: can demand the money that they want, the freedom that
- 51:08Speaker 1: they want, is because they have their own thing. And
- 51:10Speaker 1: that's why Ryan Clark's gonna be okay. But clearly it
- 51:13Speaker 1: got to a point where no matter how popular he
- 51:18Speaker 1: was and how much he brought in overall for the network,
- 51:23Speaker 1: it became less, it became less valuable to them juxtaposed
- 51:31Speaker 1: to his subject matter. And I think that's a shame.
- 51:33Speaker 1: I think it's a shame for ESPN. I think it's
- 51:34Speaker 1: a it's a shame for it's a shame for for
- 51:39Speaker 1: for media and for where we're at. And I also
- 51:43Speaker 1: think it's a regression. And the only person I don't
- 51:46Speaker 1: think it's a shame for is Ryan Clark. He's gonna
- 51:49Speaker 1: be all right, and he's gonna spread his wings and
- 51:51Speaker 1: do something bigger and better and he'll be just as
- 51:54Speaker 1: popular and reach more people. All right. Uh So two
- 51:59Speaker 1: K they announced that the cover boy for two K
- 52:05Speaker 1: twenty six is going to be Victor Wembamiana. This was
- 52:11Speaker 1: a surprise to many people. Many people assumed that it
- 52:14Speaker 1: was going to be the finals MVP, the guy who
- 52:16Speaker 1: brought a championship to a city who hadn't had won
- 52:18Speaker 1: in fifty three years, the guy who had a performance
- 52:22Speaker 1: that was as epic and as strong of a singular
- 52:27Speaker 1: performance in the finals that we've seen since dark and
- 52:32Speaker 1: the guy who beat with Victoriana in five games and
- 52:35Speaker 1: multiple times took it directly to him. You would think
- 52:38Speaker 1: that that would be the guy that would get the
- 52:39Speaker 1: two K cover. No, it went to Wemby Nick. Twitter
- 52:44Speaker 1: went absolutely bananas that that that that uh that that
- 52:48Speaker 1: that post that two K made announcing him as the
- 52:51Speaker 1: the the the champion. I'm sorry the cover boy and
- 52:56Speaker 1: the they called him a hero and they showed and
- 52:58Speaker 1: the clip that they show was you know him, an
- 53:00Speaker 1: animated clip of him in the garden. I listen, I
- 53:05Speaker 1: think it's whack. I'm always going to continue to fight
- 53:07Speaker 1: from a man JB whenever I get a chance. But
- 53:11Speaker 1: also I think the two K just dropped the fucking ball.
- 53:14Speaker 1: You know, Nicks gear is like fanatics and Nike and
- 53:18Speaker 1: and and NBA store all talking about how like yo,
- 53:21Speaker 1: they they've never had gear run out of stock like
- 53:26Speaker 1: this is. Obviously we know all of the records that
- 53:30Speaker 1: were set as far as the finals and the viewership
- 53:35Speaker 1: and just the overall love and fanfare around his team.
- 53:40Speaker 1: I just think it's it's a bad business move by
- 53:42Speaker 1: two K. But also I mean, you know, what are
- 53:45Speaker 1: we basing this on? And I also saw that like
- 53:47Speaker 1: out of the last like twenty thirty something years, only
- 53:49Speaker 1: like eight people who had won the championship previously were
- 53:53Speaker 1: made the cover board the next year. So okay, all
- 53:56Speaker 1: those things are said, they still should have made a
- 53:58Speaker 1: Brunson And then they also I think the other part
- 54:02Speaker 1: that short sighted. Is it opposite to my opinion? Many
- 54:07Speaker 1: people think that, hey, Wemby is gonna win so many championships,
- 54:11Speaker 1: He's got all this time to win all these championships,
- 54:13Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah. So then you know, you would
- 54:15Speaker 1: think that that that window of opportunity would exist. Maybe
- 54:19Speaker 1: this is them saying that, like, this is the last
- 54:21Speaker 1: time everybody's gonna give a fuck about Wemby because next
- 54:23Speaker 1: year he's not gonna be that good and be relevant.
- 54:25Speaker 1: So let's go ahead and get him out there.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Now.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Obviously he's foreign, so there's gonna be a lot of people.
- 54:29Speaker 1: I'm telling you, two K would have sold record record
- 54:33Speaker 1: amounts of copies if Brunson was on the cover, because
- 54:36Speaker 1: there's a whole lot of Knicks fans who don't fucking
- 54:38Speaker 1: play two K that still would have bought it. I
- 54:40Speaker 1: think they dropped the ball. What do you think? Bomb?
- 54:44Speaker 2: What I can try to get us insight on for
- 54:46Speaker 2: this is how many months of advance they determine this.
- 54:48Speaker 2: I feel like it's something that's kind of determined early
- 54:52Speaker 2: in the basketball season.
- 54:53Speaker 1: So if that's the case, then that's If that's the case,
- 54:54Speaker 1: that's free. It's idiotic. So what Okay, So if Wemby
- 54:58Speaker 1: would have fucking that, that can't be the case. If
- 55:00Speaker 1: we would have ruptured his achilles in the finals, he
- 55:02Speaker 1: wouldn't be the cover boy next year.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Maybe maybe not. I don't know.
- 55:05Speaker 1: He wouldn't he wouldn't have.
- 55:07Speaker 2: You have a source we can ask, shout up, shout
- 55:09Speaker 2: out guy, Ronnie on the horn. I will I will
- 55:13Speaker 2: get Ronnie on the horn, and eventually, at some point
- 55:16Speaker 2: I will do I will do my best to reach out. However,
- 55:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna look at this from a positive for a minute.
- 55:22Speaker 2: So you have all this championship glory that you guys
- 55:25Speaker 2: are rampling in as Nick fan base. This is just
- 55:27Speaker 2: a little added motivation for Brunton to take it personally
- 55:30Speaker 2: and come back even better next year, no doubt.
- 55:32Speaker 1: And you know he's going to as well. He's gay
- 55:34Speaker 1: like he he's one of those guys where he acts
- 55:36Speaker 1: like he don't pay attention to sh like this, but
- 55:38Speaker 1: he does. And Yo, man I I listen, I know
- 55:41Speaker 1: that he definitely he's on Twitter. He shout out to
- 55:44Speaker 1: him and Josh Hart for showing up to uh to
- 55:49Speaker 1: the Knicks have uh It's Knicks Twitter Day. They have
- 55:52Speaker 1: a basketball game. This is second year in a row,
- 55:55Speaker 1: and him and Josh Hart last year said that they
- 55:57Speaker 1: would go. They just need to switch up the weekend.
- 55:59Speaker 1: They switched at the weekend they showed up. Shut to
- 56:02Speaker 1: my guy, my boy, Harris Knickerbocker Banter, great dude, and
- 56:07Speaker 1: uh he won actually MVP. He played college ball. He
- 56:09Speaker 1: was out there, he was giving it to him. I've
- 56:10Speaker 1: seen some videos of him, you know, just just dag
- 56:14Speaker 1: jab step jab step three and you mug. But uh,
- 56:17Speaker 1: it's interesting, man, because you know, they clearly pay attention
- 56:22Speaker 1: to this shit that people say in this now that
- 56:25Speaker 1: they've won. You hear the way they talk about Becky Hammond.
- 56:29Speaker 1: You hear the way that Brunson talks about some of
- 56:30Speaker 1: the doubters and things like that. And they then and
- 56:32Speaker 1: the way they talk about how Brunson is already always
- 56:35Speaker 1: mentally like, you know, just looking just like like Bridges
- 56:38Speaker 1: talking about the fact that if y'all don't think he's
- 56:39Speaker 1: already thinking about how we're gonna repeat, and Brunston talking
- 56:42Speaker 1: about how he feels like he knows that there's gonna
- 56:44Speaker 1: be they have to be even better and it's gonna
- 56:47Speaker 1: be tough, but he feels like he knows how he
- 56:48Speaker 1: can make it happen. Clearly, this guy is the type
- 56:50Speaker 1: of dude who he's like, Okay, I'm not on the
- 56:53Speaker 1: cover word.
- 56:54Speaker 2: I mean, and that's the way to handle it too.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Like there's you know a lot of people who you know,
- 56:59Speaker 2: there's more ways you can handle it, but that the
- 57:01Speaker 2: way Brenson Talley is the correct way. There's people who
- 57:04Speaker 2: will say stuff and you can you can either get
- 57:07Speaker 2: all offended by it and let it bright, or you
- 57:08Speaker 2: can just all right, I bet let me lock in
- 57:10Speaker 2: and I'll prove you again.
- 57:12Speaker 1: And like you said at the parade, once you prove
- 57:15Speaker 1: them wrong, you don't have to say shit to nobody.
- 57:17Speaker 1: And yeah, man Spurs Spurs Spurs Twitter. So I I mean,
- 57:21Speaker 1: you know, I've dealt with I've dealt with Philly Twitter,
- 57:24Speaker 1: I've dealt with Pacers Twitter. Spurs Twitter is a different breed.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I mean the way that like even like like like
- 57:30Speaker 1: when shit just happens and like Brunson gets an award.
- 57:33Speaker 1: The way that they're in the in the in down
- 57:35Speaker 1: in the comments talking about like, well, enjoy it now
- 57:37Speaker 1: because it's the only thing he'll ever get. Like they
- 57:38Speaker 1: hate this guy so much. I get it. I can't
- 57:42Speaker 1: why you hate him. I mean, he fucking annihilated all,
- 57:44Speaker 1: he killed all, He opened up y'all's chests in the
- 57:46Speaker 1: middle of the goddamn garden floor, ripped out your heart
- 57:49Speaker 1: and ate it. I get it, I understand, But Jesus man,
- 57:52Speaker 1: give the guy some fucking do I mean, just or
- 57:54Speaker 1: just back back, just just back, I see. I don't
- 57:57Speaker 1: hate players that when players fucking kill the nick like
- 58:01Speaker 1: like Dwayne Wade. Dwayne Wade used to kill the Knicks,
- 58:04Speaker 1: kill us. I mean, damn fucking was the man. That
- 58:10Speaker 1: didn't make me dislike him. I just like players, and
- 58:12Speaker 1: they do soft shit when they do dirty shit. But
- 58:14Speaker 1: that didn't make me like dislike him. Like Tyrese Haliburton,
- 58:20Speaker 1: He's obviously had some success against the Knicks' He's his
- 58:23Speaker 1: team has eliminated our team from the playoffs two years
- 58:25Speaker 1: in a row. The reason I dislike him is like
- 58:30Speaker 1: the choking and I don't dislike him because he like
- 58:33Speaker 1: played like Pascal Sia, I could play really good when
- 58:36Speaker 1: we lost them, not last season, but the season before.
- 58:38Speaker 1: I don't hate Siakam now, like come on, man, like
- 58:42Speaker 1: I don't know. I just think these Spurs fans, they
- 58:44Speaker 1: cope so hard in the mentions, and I'm coming for
- 58:46Speaker 1: him too. Like I said, this is clop back season.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I'm not usually I'm somebody who's above that shit. I'm
- 58:51Speaker 1: not above nothing. I will get as petty as I
- 58:54Speaker 1: fucking can about these motherfucking New York Championship Knicks. If
- 58:58Speaker 1: you are out there in Twitter world and you talk
- 59:00Speaker 1: about the Knicks, you don't even have to be talking
- 59:02Speaker 1: to me. I don't give a fuck if I see it,
- 59:03Speaker 1: I'm coming for you with the fucking champs. Yoh, get
- 59:10Speaker 1: your get get brunts and fucking balls out your mouth,
- 59:14Speaker 1: and go worry about your team and what y'all gotta do. Ball.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I got a fair of foul man before we get
- 59:20Speaker 1: up out of here on this Friday. Unless you got anything.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Else, not heavy with it? All right?
- 59:27Speaker 1: So so oh okay, So I got a little transition
- 59:30Speaker 1: before I want to talk about Brad Pitt and the
- 59:34Speaker 1: and the the movie that there was a preview for. Yo,
- 59:37Speaker 1: Brad Pitt is a preview. It's him and he is
- 59:42Speaker 1: like a Special Forces Army special Forces dude who is retired,
- 59:48Speaker 1: and he's retired with his dog, his German shepherd, who
- 59:50Speaker 1: got blown up at one point while they were, you know,
- 59:54Speaker 1: in combat. And so now he's got like some some
- 59:57Speaker 1: some like some steel teeth, and he's got like a
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: he's got a steal leg, he's got a prosthetic, and
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: so now him and Brad Pitt are enjoying retirement together.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Brad Pitt is some sort of you know, pilot, and
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: they're in some small plane and they go down and
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: they're on like a fucking desert island type shit, and
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: they got to survive, and so it's just them to
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: the entire movie. Fucking looks awesome. If you know me,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: I love fucking dogs. I can't wait till my dad
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: about this movie. He loves fucking dogs. Movie's gonna be
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be sick.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Look that sounds like something I would see, Yes.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Yes, But any movie where you have just a guy
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: and a dog, ye, there's a chance it could be
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: a fucking duddy. It could be really good or it
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: could be absolutely horrible. So we'll see, we'll see, there's
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: another movie that I thought that that that there was
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: a preview for that was almost like.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: It was like.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: It was like an I Am Legend type shit, except
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: the the other things that you like. There was some
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: crazy event that killed off most of humanity, but what
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: you had to deal with was other humans that did
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: survive and then trying to band together, have your little
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: group and be able to fucking fight everybody else. So
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: there is this movie with Brad Pitt. I feel like
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: it's gonna be pretty good. You know, I'm into seeing it.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: But you know, I'm a dog guy. Okay, So I
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: am a dog guy through and through. I love dogs.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I've loved dogs my entire life. My dog is in here.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Give here see by the time we got a slebrity
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: appearance from Ox, a little celebrity on art the same
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: we're going from Boston, all right.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: So my American bulldog, he is highly trained. My dad
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: has bred big dogs. He's had an English master's, Neapolitan
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: masters now out in Arizona. He's got the South African Mastiff,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: the Borble. So we've always been around dogs. I've always
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: been around big dogs. I love dogs. I've really loved
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the act of training a dog and you know all
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: that and everything that comes with it. Love dogs, okay,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: But in the last decade, maybe a little bit longer,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: there's this new trend where every dog is either a
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: service dog or an emotional support dog. And everywhere from
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: airplanes to doctors' offices to grocery stores, you see multiple
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: people walking around with their dog and sometimes these dogs.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: So there's service dogs, okay, that's one thing. Then you
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: got the emotional support dog, where you know, this dog
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: can be in a stroller, in your arms, on a leash,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: whatever the case may be. Offices, countless times I've seen
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: people bring their dog into an office or make posts
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: online about them either bringing a dog to an office
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: or having a dog in the office. Baul, let me
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: ask you, man, So this whole thing with having an
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: emotional support dog and being able to have it in
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: the produce section of the grocery store, faaraphoul I.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Think it's foul. Can't you can't leave them for like
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: five minutes?
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Not just that, Listen, I love dogs personally too, but
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: at the same time, why does everybody else have to
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: have this this this this dog thrust upon them and
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: brought into their environment when they're going into a big
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: public place. First of all, what if somebody's allergic to dogs?
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: If I if I'm in an office and I'm allergic
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: to dogs, but this other, but this, but the my
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: manager loves to bring in their Golden Retriever and everybody
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: in the fucking office loves this fucking dog. It's just
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: like so happy and so nice, and clearly my manager
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: loves it because they bring it in. Now I have
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: to deal with this. I have to deal with this,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: or I have to be the one that comes to
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: them and say like, hey, by the way, just see
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: you know, like I'm allergic to dogs. Yeah, Like that's
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: just it's crazy to be able to make everybody just
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: assume that everybody else likes dogs wants to be around
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: a dog. And the other thing is that half the
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: time in the grocery store, I go to walk past
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: and your dog is like turning and like putting its
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: face towards me, Like you dog, don't I don't need
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: your dog's wet nose on.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Me on me.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: I see, I love dogs, and I look at dog,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that's a cool dog. I'm not one
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: of these people when I see a dog in public.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, it's a dog. Oh my god,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: is he friendly? Can I pet him? Ox loves the family,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: loves everybody. If you're a person who you don't know
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: and you get within our little range, he lets you
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: know by his outward his outward energy as well as
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: his growl that you don't walk up on him like that.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: He's a protection dog. He's protection trained, bite trained, all
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: those things. Like he's really about that shit. So you
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: gotta come to my house, be here for a minute,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: maybe come a second time before he warms up to you,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: and then you're good. He knows you're good.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: That's whole attentive Moose gets when he's walking out that dude,
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: Oh of course you've got you got big old club man.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Yes, yes, By the way, Moose is a Bassett Hound
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: for the listeners, for a listener that don't know. So therefore,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I mean obviously just an adorable, very cute, very just like,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: oh my god, look at this dog. But I'm telling you,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: man again, like so now I see people. I've seen
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: people in the fucking in the in the in the
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: in the produce section, and their dog is like fucking
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: sniffing the tomatoes or some ship.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Yo.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: You can't just bring your dog with you everywhere.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: If your dog is it's you cant no.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: It's just that people want to have their dog with
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: them and they see other people have their dog and
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: they're like, well fuck that, Well I I want to
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I want to have I want to have Scrumpy with
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: me too. And it's just like, come on, man, there's
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: certain places where it's just absurd to assume that everybody
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: else should want to have to deal with your dog.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: I completely agree this is this is for me one
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: foulve You don't even need to challenge or review. It's
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: foul foul ball man.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yeah, man, yo, listen, leave your fucking dog at home.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Take your dog to spaces where people are expected to
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: have dogs. If you have a legitimate service dog, a
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: seeing eye dog, some something like that, that is one thing.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: First of all, those dogs are expertly trained. They have
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: certain standards that they have to meet. Therefore, you know
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: they're trained well and they're not dogs, and they always
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: have the thing one that says like, do not pet me.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I'm a service dog. I'm with all that, but this
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: emotional support dog where it's like, well you know, I
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: get anxiety and having this dog. And I know people
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: personally who have forged those documents to be able to
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: take their dog places or on a plane. And I
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: know also people who have said, like, Yo, my doctor,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you just go to the doctor. You say like this
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: or that, like the love, They'll fucking do it all
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: for you. That shit is fucking ridiculous to me. Leave
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: your fucking dog at home. Don't have your goddamn dog,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: you know, walking up to me and sniffing me, or
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: being face to face with my six year I saw
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: motherfucker with a Saint Bernard in the goddamn grocery store. God,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: shit has got to control them.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: It's insane, Yo, it's insane. I just think that people
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: have really overdone this, and now it's gotten to a
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: point where, you know, it's almost impossible, Like can you
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: at a grocery store? Could you walk with somebody like
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: excuse me, Like there's no there's no dogs in the store. Uh,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: we're gonna need some sort of documentation or something.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: Like I can't.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I feel like it's so prevalent now that somebody at
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: a fucking Fries or a Walmart, or they couldn't even
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: do that.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I don't still get like how you can't have like
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: a sam little like ID car, like a driver's license.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, listen, I'm sure that there is some
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: sort of legal precedent where they could ask you to
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: produce that. Yeah, but would you be willing to get
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: the backlash of your local Facebook page talking about how
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: like they wouldn't let me with There's so many people
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: that they're just they love dogs so much that if
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: there's anything that is even remotely discriminatory against dogs, they're
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: they're they're just off the rip. There's a lot of
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: people out here, bomb. Yeah, they love dogs more than people.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I think if Michael Vick killed ray Lewis, allegedly allegedly
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: stabbed a guy, Michael Vick ran a dog ring, and
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: we see who who who got more trouble. I'm telling
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: you there's a lot of people out here that love
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: dogs more than people. And hey, listen, man, you can
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: love your dog as much as you want. Again, I
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: love dogs. I'm pro dog. Leave your fucking dog at home.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Your dog is not supposed to be in a.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Super market unless it's you know, an actual guide dog.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: Shout ut guy, dogs with a black from Marin by
