- 0:19Speaker 2: You guys have a good weekend.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Good Memorial Day weekend.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's great, Fran thanks for asking joining good.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I painted a door.
- 0:25Speaker 1: The weather stuck. Yeah, the weather wasn't great. It seems
- 0:27Speaker 1: like a moment, all right, we got our mowen in
- 0:30Speaker 1: a Memorial Day get in. I did I count about you? Evan?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I know, I don't know. By the way, Brad, that
- 0:35Speaker 1: guy that gets owned your house, did you see that?
- 0:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:37Speaker 1: So that was wild.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Turns out somebody who was listening used to live in
- 0:41Speaker 5: the house, and that was pretty cool. I guess the
- 0:44Speaker 5: guy owns a chateau in France.
- 0:45Speaker 6: Now my pretrevious owner is now living in a chateau
- 0:48Speaker 6: in France. But I my friend's just a common get dismissed.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Ota started and you know one of your contributors, you know,
- 0:56Speaker 5: isn't there.
- 0:56Speaker 2: How would you how do you handle that?
- 0:58Speaker 7: I mean, I love seeing the Drake may is here,
- 1:00Speaker 7: you know, And I know that was a point with
- 1:02Speaker 7: Brady later in his career that he wasn't really around
- 1:04Speaker 7: for this stuff.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Seriously, you don't think that Jazelle had an influence on
- 1:07Speaker 5: him not being here those years.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I'd be like Jiselle, where you want many fri.
- 1:10Speaker 5: What's of Tom Brady? He just got his own things.
- 1:12Speaker 5: But when he was here he was perfect. Oh I
- 1:14Speaker 5: saw that perfect Andrew from Eastern Europe, right, sat a
- 1:18Speaker 5: little listener on Listener crime.
- 1:20Speaker 1: We always love that. We all love to bash on
- 1:22Speaker 1: Christen and La although I cannot stand him. Is Eldred
- 1:26Speaker 1: for me?
- 1:27Speaker 5: He's unbearable. Eldred is on the line to defend his honor.
- 1:30Speaker 5: What's up, Eldred?
- 1:32Speaker 8: Hey, you know what, I don't mind it. Hey, Like
- 1:34Speaker 8: I told, I'm mixed, Milita, I can get joined.
- 1:39Speaker 9: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:43Speaker 9: deals by a Toyota dot Com.
- 1:47Speaker 5: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:51Speaker 5: at Jillette.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Stadium, and we've got some stuff to talk about.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Yesterday was the first Ota that the media had access to. Yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 5: so I admittedly was only out there for a brief
- 2:03Speaker 5: period of time.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I had other things to do.
- 2:05Speaker 5: But when I was out there, saw some interesting things,
- 2:08Speaker 5: and we'll talk about it. It's Evan, it's Paul, it's me,
- 2:10Speaker 5: it's Deuce, it's Alex and the booth.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And so let's jump right into it.
- 2:14Speaker 5: That's the top of the news as far as I
- 2:16Speaker 5: can see, is yesterday's OTA.
- 2:18Speaker 2: So first thoughts, well.
- 2:22Speaker 7: First, just good to be back out watching a little
- 2:24Speaker 7: bit of football, right and the weather was always happy.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I was happy. Perfect you to.
- 2:33Speaker 7: Really take away, Paul, what was your disclaimer atop of
- 2:35Speaker 7: your tweet? Hard to take a lot away from a
- 2:38Speaker 7: no contact passing camp.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Uh So, Mike Vrabel, you know, can I just start
- 2:43Speaker 6: off and we'll get plenty of thoughts and opinions about,
- 2:46Speaker 6: you know, the first day OTA. Okay, but Mike Rabel
- 2:48Speaker 6: spent a good chunk of his press conference explaining the
- 2:52Speaker 6: same stuff that Bill Belichick used to brow beat us.
- 2:54Speaker 6: What this is, you know, teaching time. It's it's not
- 2:58Speaker 6: time for evaluations. It's not you know, we're installing, We're
- 3:01Speaker 6: doing this. There's a lot of learning going on. So
- 3:04Speaker 6: I put what I thought was as harmless as tweet
- 3:07Speaker 6: out as you could possibly do by saying, not much
- 3:10Speaker 6: to evaluate in this teaching passing camp setting. But I
- 3:17Speaker 6: thought that looked like there was a little uh, you know,
- 3:20Speaker 6: like Drake May in the past, the receivers didn't necessarily
- 3:23Speaker 6: seem to be on the same.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Page a lot.
- 3:26Speaker 3: You can't use that terminology.
- 3:29Speaker 6: So someone someone one and admittedly this is not you know.
- 3:33Speaker 6: I love you guys, I love the listeners, I love
- 3:35Speaker 6: you know the interact. This was one person, so I'm
- 3:37Speaker 6: not painting with a broad brush. It was literally one person. Well,
- 3:42Speaker 6: wasn't that what happened last year? We threw four interceptions
- 3:45Speaker 6: and everybody lost their minds. Maybe you might want to
- 3:47Speaker 6: add a little perspective to it.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I think that's fair.
- 3:53Speaker 6: I didn't say anything about like the seasons lost evaluate anything.
- 4:01Speaker 5: That was the first So if that's if you can't
- 4:05Speaker 5: evaluate anything, but you say that they weren't on the
- 4:07Speaker 5: same page as a user, as a reader, I want
- 4:10Speaker 5: to know what does that mean?
- 4:11Speaker 3: The same page as always, because that that signifies what
- 4:15Speaker 3: that means mental errors and guys running the wrong routes
- 4:18Speaker 3: and like that. They don't like it when you use okay,
- 4:22Speaker 3: but I need to know that, like what is not
- 4:24Speaker 3: the They.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Weren't on the same page. But we're going in areas
- 4:27Speaker 6: that there weren't receivers.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Okay, I need to know that specific well, I.
- 4:32Speaker 7: Misconnections, Yeah, I mean obviously, I just I give I
- 4:36Speaker 7: completely and totally give up what.
- 4:39Speaker 6: I couldn't have been more harmless. Like I'm there's nothing
- 4:43Speaker 6: to evaluate, there's no pads.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Okay, but you made an evaluate. You made a judge.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I thought you did help.
- 4:51Speaker 5: You made a judgment that they weren't on the same page.
- 4:54Speaker 5: That's a judgment from what you saw.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I'm not mad at you about it. I'm just trying
- 4:58Speaker 3: to help you with the terminology because you learn, like
- 5:02Speaker 3: you learn the trigger words for the fan base, you know, and.
- 5:05Speaker 6: You tweet babies say it that can't hear anything that
- 5:12Speaker 6: might not sound like they're in Super Bowl.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I want to know more.
- 5:16Speaker 3: And I know this sounds extremely pretentious, but when you
- 5:19Speaker 3: tweet as much as I do about the team, you
- 5:22Speaker 3: start to learn, like the the buzzwords of like what
- 5:25Speaker 3: bothers people right, Like I tweeted yesterday that had a
- 5:28Speaker 3: similar thing happened where I tweeted about Drake May throwing
- 5:32Speaker 3: the interception in practice yesterday. It was a pass intended
- 5:36Speaker 3: for Kyle Williams and that immediately became a referendum on
- 5:39Speaker 3: Kyle Williams' entire career and outlook because he's up, Kyle
- 5:43Speaker 3: Williams still struggling. And I was like, I literally said
- 5:46Speaker 3: that Drake May threw the ball inside on an out route,
- 5:50Speaker 3: which is on the quarterback, and he said it so
- 5:52Speaker 3: at the podium after practice. But you tweet about that,
- 5:56Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, I'm like, oh God, what
- 5:57Speaker 3: did I do? Because like now people are are I
- 6:00Speaker 3: can on Kyle Williams, and like you know that you
- 6:02Speaker 3: just have to that they have these little things that
- 6:05Speaker 3: are sensitive.
- 6:06Speaker 6: They just rather read the tweet and read what was
- 6:08Speaker 6: written as opposed to what you said.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Well that's a problem.
- 6:11Speaker 6: All all of a sudden, now it's a referendum on
- 6:13Speaker 6: Kyle Williams. Evan didn't write that. Evan didn't say Kyle
- 6:16Speaker 6: Williams is a problem, but he still doesn't look like
- 6:18Speaker 6: he knows where he's going.
- 6:19Speaker 5: But I think my main point is if you leave
- 6:21Speaker 5: something up for interpretation, it will get interpreted many different ways.
- 6:25Speaker 3: But that's why I tried to spell it out exactly
- 6:27Speaker 3: what happened.
- 6:30Speaker 6: Were on the same page, That's what happened. What way
- 6:33Speaker 6: the balls weren't getting completed.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Okay, that's that's information I need.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But I'm not going to give you stats. That's a
- 6:39Speaker 1: waste of time.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I didn't say that.
- 6:41Speaker 6: I didn't say I but I really can't believe we didn't.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I didn't say what if you know, if if if
- 6:46Speaker 5: Rabel's tell him to go left and they go right,
- 6:48Speaker 5: that's not being on the site.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Hey, I don't know where Rabel's telling him to go.
- 6:52Speaker 6: I'm not qualified to say.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Okay, but you know that they.
- 6:55Speaker 6: I know the ball was going someplace that the receivers weren't. Okay,
- 6:58Speaker 6: that's a time sometimes were in the right place. I'm
- 7:01Speaker 6: not telling you.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Who was right and who was wrong right, but but
- 7:03Speaker 5: that's what I need to know, is like what does
- 7:05Speaker 5: that mean?
- 7:06Speaker 2: What is not being on the same page means?
- 7:08Speaker 10: Like?
- 7:09Speaker 1: What does it mean to you?
- 7:10Speaker 2: I wasn't there.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I don't know, Like if someone.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Said to you that didn't look like the receivers and
- 7:14Speaker 6: mentor around the same page, what would it mean.
- 7:16Speaker 3: To mental communication?
- 7:18Speaker 6: Could Okay, so it didn't mean that the season's over
- 7:21Speaker 6: like the one guy interpreted, Well, that's fine, but that's
- 7:24Speaker 6: all I'm saying. It's not that hard.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I'm just saying, if you.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Interpreted it, you didn't see it. You you interpreted the
- 7:30Speaker 1: tweet properly.
- 7:31Speaker 5: But to Evans's point, you will get that when you
- 7:35Speaker 5: say those certain things.
- 7:36Speaker 6: But admittedly, and this is why I started off by
- 7:38Speaker 6: one singular person.
- 7:40Speaker 1: No, that was it.
- 7:42Speaker 6: No I had I mean again, not to sound non pretentiously.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Evin sounded.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Like retweets whatever. Probably not as many as Evan because.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I don't tweet a lot of it.
- 7:55Speaker 6: Listen, I had a lot of interactions Evans right, one
- 7:58Speaker 6: person that told me to get to find some perspective.
- 8:02Speaker 1: One one person.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Evan's right, though, there's a lot of fans that they're
- 8:07Speaker 5: on the edge of their seat. They want they would
- 8:11Speaker 5: rather have. After this first day, everything looked great, Wow,
- 8:15Speaker 5: may look sharp and you know this guy was catching this.
- 8:19Speaker 5: And when they don't hear that, it's like, I understand
- 8:23Speaker 5: that because you know they they they're nervous about their team.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think that it did. The offense in
- 8:31Speaker 3: general looked like the first day of OTA now is
- 8:35Speaker 3: their second day technically, but the second day of OTA
- 8:38Speaker 3: is where you know, there were some instances where you know,
- 8:41Speaker 3: the ball was sailing on Drake May a little bit
- 8:43Speaker 3: and was that because the receiver wasn't in the right
- 8:45Speaker 3: place or whatever, you know, who knows, Like they could
- 8:48Speaker 3: only tell us that, but that is to be expected
- 8:51Speaker 3: for this time of year. And he also didn't have
- 8:53Speaker 3: his full you know, MATC. Collins wasn't there, Kaisehon Boody
- 8:56Speaker 3: wasn't there. Was the first time he's throwing to Romeo
- 8:58Speaker 3: Dobbs and a lie situation and there was a couple
- 9:01Speaker 3: of plays to Dobbs out.
- 9:03Speaker 6: That was the tweet before that tweet, yeah, which I
- 9:06Speaker 6: wrote just attendance, which is another one that I found
- 9:10Speaker 6: almost impossible to sort of criticize. I mentioned the seven
- 9:13Speaker 6: guys that Mike Rabel mentioned wouldn't be practicing worth mentioning
- 9:18Speaker 6: that those guys weren't practicing again one guy, it's really
- 9:23Speaker 6: not it's really not worth mentioning. But it gave you
- 9:25Speaker 6: something to tweet about sport. And he called me a
- 9:28Speaker 6: sports a term. I can't say, Oh, that's that's jo Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 6: I can't say it.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that's I get that one. I mean, like, come on, guy,
- 9:36Speaker 5: you know, like attendances news, we had to.
- 9:38Speaker 6: Say, like I didn't say, like, this is something to
- 9:41Speaker 6: really worry about. I don't know where Gonza is going
- 9:43Speaker 6: to become regular season time.
- 9:45Speaker 2: You just factually put it out there, that's all.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It's not worth mentioning.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that is worth not worth mentioning.
- 9:50Speaker 7: Obviously, you have to mention the attendance to me ties
- 9:53Speaker 7: into some of the most interesting takeaways of the day,
- 9:55Speaker 7: which were just kind of the depth that was exposed.
- 9:59Speaker 7: Seeing Andrew Rupsych who was on the practice squad and
- 10:02Speaker 7: last year getting some snaps at left guard, you're seeing,
- 10:05Speaker 7: you know, no Harold Landry, no Gay Bacchus, So you're
- 10:07Speaker 7: seeing some thin depth a the edge. And then with
- 10:09Speaker 7: Al Gonzalez and Carlon Davis, you're seeing you know, guys
- 10:13Speaker 7: like Chucky Trees, Charles Woods, Kendall wildor I'll give you.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Another example related to attendance. I was out there briefly.
- 10:20Speaker 5: When I was out there, I saw a lot of
- 10:22Speaker 5: Pop Douglas action underneath. Okay, Booty wasn't there, Hollins wasn't there,
- 10:28Speaker 5: And that might be why instead of coming to the conclusion, oh,
- 10:33Speaker 5: they're going to feature Pop Douglas a lot this year. No,
- 10:37Speaker 5: they had to do what they had to do with
- 10:38Speaker 5: the receivers that were there.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, this is also Pop Douglas's time to shine. Pop
- 10:43Speaker 3: Douglas is like if it was seven on seven, Pop
- 10:45Speaker 3: Douglas would be a Hall of Famer. Like, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 3: he's last year. He was great in the spring, in
- 10:51Speaker 3: the early summer as well. But that's the biggest thing
- 10:54Speaker 3: that Duece pointed out. This time of year. It's not
- 10:57Speaker 3: so much about the results of like how everybody looked
- 11:00Speaker 3: and what Drake May's completion percentage was. It's you know,
- 11:03Speaker 3: who's playing where, Who's who's there? First of all, you know,
- 11:07Speaker 3: just attendance, and then also like who's playing where? You know,
- 11:10Speaker 3: is Caleb Blowmoo on the left side or is on
- 11:13Speaker 3: the right side? Is you know, who's taking Harold Landry's spot?
- 11:18Speaker 3: You know, is Elijah Ponder yesterday? You know, those types
- 11:21Speaker 3: of things I think are probably the most important things.
- 11:24Speaker 3: You know, Andrew Rupsich seems like he's first up to
- 11:28Speaker 3: win that job as a backup interior guy. You know,
- 11:31Speaker 3: obviously Ben Brown was playing mostly at center yesterday. So
- 11:35Speaker 3: like those are the things that really like the clues
- 11:38Speaker 3: that really have meaning, Like this is not the time
- 11:42Speaker 3: to jump to conclusion like anything and that's what I said.
- 11:46Speaker 6: To actually when you know, somehow I got out of
- 11:48Speaker 6: my happy place, because I was in a very happy place.
- 11:51Speaker 3: We came in hot, like we a pre show was hot,
- 11:53Speaker 3: and now you.
- 11:54Speaker 6: Know so well the pre show that was.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So just I'm just gonna let everybody know. Pre show.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Fred said he wished we could continue that on air
- 12:05Speaker 6: because quote, I would bury.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Him and to.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Evan, not me the first time ever.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I said that to you know, Mike and I
- 12:16Speaker 6: with Mike Giardi and Mark Pella, a couple other guys.
- 12:19Speaker 1: And just that's all.
- 12:21Speaker 6: You look, You're looking at personnel groupings. You're trying to say, oh,
- 12:23Speaker 6: you know Andrew repsits, what do I know about him?
- 12:25Speaker 6: He looks like they're trying to give him, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 6: some reps on the inside. Ben Brown at center, as
- 12:30Speaker 6: Evan just mentioned, you know someone interesting. Just looking at
- 12:33Speaker 6: some different guys, you have no Carlton Davis, no Christian Gonzales.
- 12:37Speaker 6: The boundary corners were like Filldor and Charles Woods and
- 12:43Speaker 6: little Karan fronty.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Is it Karan?
- 12:45Speaker 3: I think I think it's Koran.
- 12:46Speaker 6: Yeah right, yeah, I think it's Korans he said, really quietly.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Had an interception during the shut your mouth, Evan, how
- 12:57Speaker 1: about a report from Lan Lewison Island.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Yes, and that was the other one that was big
- 13:01Speaker 3: out of yesterday. It was like Land Larson's you know,
- 13:04Speaker 3: it seems like he's RB three right now, and it's
- 13:06Speaker 3: like I get where you. I get why you got
- 13:09Speaker 3: there because he was the third guy up and he
- 13:11Speaker 3: was it was Stevenson Henderson Larrison. But I think with
- 13:14Speaker 3: him and rupsis that both those guys were at least
- 13:18Speaker 3: in the building last year and we're here for right
- 13:23Speaker 3: so like let's you know, wait and see.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I think at this point all you know is what
- 13:30Speaker 5: and who what they were doing and who was doing it.
- 13:33Speaker 5: You don't know the why. You don't know the why
- 13:36Speaker 5: or anything beyond that.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we need to stack some practices first,
- 13:40Speaker 3: Like we'll be back out there Tuesday, we'll be back
- 13:42Speaker 3: up there the following week, and then we'll have mini camp.
- 13:44Speaker 3: By the end of mini camp, like you probably will
- 13:46Speaker 3: start to get a feel for at least how the
- 13:49Speaker 3: table is set for training camp. So right now, like
- 13:52Speaker 3: I said, it's who's playing where who's the first guy
- 13:55Speaker 3: up off the bench? When you know Vera Tucker's not
- 13:57Speaker 3: a full go yet, so it's rupsich. It's notable that
- 14:01Speaker 3: that he's ahead of Makai Butler, the two udfa's, you know,
- 14:06Speaker 3: the players like that. I think that's notable. Their plan
- 14:09Speaker 3: for Caleb Blomo is notable. It seems like, at least
- 14:13Speaker 3: right now, he's training at right tackle and it's the
- 14:17Speaker 3: Morgan Moses replacement plan and we're not even really talking
- 14:21Speaker 3: yet about him playing on the left side potentially, so
- 14:24Speaker 3: that that's notable. You know, Gonzalez's absence, if we want
- 14:27Speaker 3: to talk about that big picture, incredibly notable. But how
- 14:32Speaker 3: Drake may throw or the pick he did throw in
- 14:35Speaker 3: the practice, I like, I'm not I'm not gonna do it.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I don't know what the fans can get to this point.
- 14:40Speaker 7: But like now, I've been seeing enough of OTAs in
- 14:42Speaker 7: training camps to know that I've seen hundreds of practices
- 14:45Speaker 7: that have been up down everything in between. I've seen
- 14:49Speaker 7: them get smoked by Minnesota in the joint practice. What
- 14:51Speaker 7: does it ultimately mean in the not much? Like it's
- 14:54Speaker 7: hard to look at, especially the first OTA, when you
- 14:56Speaker 7: know how much work these guys have to do to
- 14:59Speaker 7: install all this stuff, Like so what they're not on
- 15:02Speaker 7: the same page.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Not a big deal.
- 15:03Speaker 8: Now.
- 15:03Speaker 7: I was making fun of all a little bit because
- 15:04Speaker 7: I said, oh, that's what you know, Baron Morton.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You know he's twelve for twelve. A couple of weeks ago,
- 15:08Speaker 1: you didn't seem to have a problem, you know, like
- 15:09Speaker 1: then we started playing that game.
- 15:10Speaker 7: Yeah, but that's why to me, the first thing was like,
- 15:13Speaker 7: let's just get back out there. I mean, it doesn't
- 15:15Speaker 7: feel like the season really ended yet, Like I'm seeing
- 15:17Speaker 7: Rabel and like I'm like, did we went to the
- 15:19Speaker 7: Super feels like they're right back into everything happening again.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It's just I'm shocked by how short the.
- 15:25Speaker 7: Off seasons seem with these Super Bowls, And I don't
- 15:27Speaker 7: know how you guys did it three years in a row,
- 15:29Speaker 7: where it must have just felt like you were doing
- 15:32Speaker 7: work three straight years.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Like I mean, it's just relentless, especially when you win it.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Then then there's the parade and all the content that
- 15:39Speaker 5: comes after that.
- 15:40Speaker 7: And that's what I didn't know, Fred is like to
- 15:42Speaker 7: be on the inside of one of these now, is
- 15:44Speaker 7: you realize just the mental grind of I don't know,
- 15:48Speaker 7: we might be going to Denver for the AFC Championship
- 15:50Speaker 7: next week.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You know, yet we are you know, travel all that stuff.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Now they're coming back. When are we going? When's the route?
- 15:55Speaker 7: Like all the planning and everything that goes into it's
- 15:58Speaker 7: not just having to play the playoff games and the
- 16:01Speaker 7: pressure that of course comes with that, it's also just
- 16:04Speaker 7: everything that's going on with it. It's like it's just
- 16:06Speaker 7: the whole party doesn't end. You're constantly everybody is working.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's no, it's cool.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I mean it's like crazy to me now, couple, I
- 16:14Speaker 3: was getting bored, Like you know, it's like how many
- 16:16Speaker 3: more times can I talk about Will Campbell's arms?
- 16:18Speaker 1: Like jeez.
- 16:19Speaker 3: But it is different, and you know it's for us.
- 16:22Speaker 3: It's Deuce is in kind of a new experience to
- 16:25Speaker 3: to do this, and like you know, the NFL has
- 16:27Speaker 3: done a great job of stretching out. It's scheduled to
- 16:30Speaker 3: be a year round thing, but now truly you feel
- 16:32Speaker 3: that where it's like we went to the super Bowl,
- 16:34Speaker 3: two weeks later, we're in Indianapolis for the Combine, then
- 16:37Speaker 3: in free agencies two weeks after that. Then the Draft
- 16:40Speaker 3: is a month after that, then the schedule release comes
- 16:42Speaker 3: and now here we are again and they're practicing. It
- 16:44Speaker 3: is right, and it's like it was like and we
- 16:47Speaker 3: never left. It really did feel that way, like it
- 16:49Speaker 3: just felt like it was a continuation almost of what
- 16:52Speaker 3: we were watching in January.
- 16:54Speaker 7: Yeah, did I mean it felt like on the field
- 16:56Speaker 7: we were talking about Rabel seemed like same old Abel
- 16:58Speaker 7: going around the different position group.
- 17:00Speaker 1: She could hear his voice, you know. I think that's
- 17:02Speaker 1: just when he's in his element.
- 17:04Speaker 6: A lot of energy, he loves to do. Yeah, I agree,
- 17:07Speaker 6: he was very able. Like on the field I was.
- 17:09Speaker 6: And you had asked us, Freddy on Tuesday, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 6: things that would surprise us, And one of the things
- 17:15Speaker 6: I said would be surprising to me happened.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Christian Gonzalez wasn't out there.
- 17:20Speaker 3: And the biggest story of the day.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I thought that was.
- 17:23Speaker 6: I was you know, it wasn't stunning or anything. And
- 17:25Speaker 6: again it's not some referendum on the season. I was
- 17:29Speaker 6: a little surprised just because I had seen some photos
- 17:33Speaker 6: of him being here and I just wondered, you know,
- 17:36Speaker 6: did he have something to do yesterday? Was it because
- 17:38Speaker 6: the media was there yesterday? I don't don't know. I
- 17:41Speaker 6: don't have any of those answers. But I did find
- 17:44Speaker 6: that a little surprising and something to monitor.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Well, it's something monitors, particularly when you get to the
- 17:49Speaker 5: mandatory part, not only if he's here, but is the
- 17:52Speaker 5: out there, because we've heard that's the term hold in
- 17:55Speaker 5: where the player is on campus so he doesn't get fine,
- 17:59Speaker 5: but you know, my my calf hurts a little bit.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I can't get out there, you know. Yeah, so that
- 18:06Speaker 5: that once we get to the mandatory mini camp, then
- 18:09Speaker 5: I'll start to be like, okay, well this is this is.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Not real football, but it's real football ish, Whereas like
- 18:16Speaker 3: the first two phases, they're just like running windsprints and
- 18:18Speaker 3: stuff like that out there. So there's really no risk.
- 18:22Speaker 3: There's a little bit of risk of participating in eleven
- 18:24Speaker 3: on Eleven's it's not a ton, but it's it's a
- 18:28Speaker 3: little bit of a risk. And so now this is
- 18:29Speaker 3: the real stuff.
- 18:30Speaker 5: And I would imagine, you know, in today's NFL, it's
- 18:34Speaker 5: modus operende for all agents to advise their clients in
- 18:37Speaker 5: his situation to do what he's doing.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Don't take that risk. It's not I hate you, I'm
- 18:42Speaker 1: not showing up.
- 18:43Speaker 5: It's I'm not going to go out there and maybe
- 18:46Speaker 5: blow out my hamstring.
- 18:48Speaker 6: You know, like just some crazy somebody late last week
- 18:53Speaker 6: blew out an achilles. I think, right, And I forget
- 18:56Speaker 6: the player was not a player that was necessarily front
- 18:59Speaker 6: of mind for me.
- 19:00Speaker 1: But it does happen.
- 19:02Speaker 5: It does happen, And now now I set myself back
- 19:04Speaker 5: in my own leverage and negotiation.
- 19:06Speaker 7: Yeah, I just feel like this is how it happens
- 19:08Speaker 7: now with star players like this, Like he's gonna kind
- 19:11Speaker 7: of do the dance and then they're gonna up their
- 19:13Speaker 7: offer or whatever.
- 19:14Speaker 1: And you know, I just hope that they come to a.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Question is do they have an offer out there?
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 19:18Speaker 3: I mean the reporting in Seattle. You know, Devin Witherspoon
- 19:21Speaker 3: and Gonzalez are like tied at the hip, same draft class,
- 19:24Speaker 3: both all pro caliber players. Witherspoon, according to the reports,
- 19:29Speaker 3: they did make an initial offer and they are like
- 19:32Speaker 3: worlds apart. They said like the offer was nowhere close
- 19:35Speaker 3: to being acceptable for Whetherspoon. So similar things are going
- 19:39Speaker 3: on in Seattle with their star corners.
- 19:40Speaker 5: The only reason why I bro if I was the
- 19:42Speaker 5: Patriots though, you know, and this is just me, I
- 19:46Speaker 5: would try to get ahead of Weatherspoon. I would try
- 19:48Speaker 5: to be the gut the team that makes that first
- 19:51Speaker 5: off or make it a big one, you know, make
- 19:53Speaker 5: it the cornerback market setting offer. But come in first
- 19:57Speaker 5: because whatever weather is going to come in now, you
- 20:00Speaker 5: gonna have to beat that.
- 20:00Speaker 6: I would definitely want to do that as the team
- 20:02Speaker 6: as well.
- 20:04Speaker 1: If he wants to wait, I want to make sure
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm second.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Okay, well, as long as Gonzalez is on the same
- 20:09Speaker 5: page as me. Okay, you want to wait for Witherspoon,
- 20:13Speaker 5: we'll wait. Here's the offer we're gonna make right now,
- 20:17Speaker 5: but we're not gonna do any negotiating until then.
- 20:21Speaker 2: After Witherspoon what happened.
- 20:24Speaker 5: But I want to know from Christiper what happens if
- 20:26Speaker 5: that gets delayed, what happens if he has to hold out?
- 20:29Speaker 2: What's going to be your stance? Yea, like because we
- 20:32Speaker 2: need you out there, Christian.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think that you know some of that though,
- 20:35Speaker 3: Like if Witherspoon comes in at thirty two, which is
- 20:39Speaker 3: right now pretty much the going right Trent McDuffie went
- 20:41Speaker 3: for a thirty two. If Witherspoon goes for thirty two, like,
- 20:44Speaker 3: so Gonzalez is gonna get thirty two to five, like,
- 20:46Speaker 3: and we're really gonna like that's like this huge deal
- 20:49Speaker 3: of order of operations to.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Get I gets thirty five seems like a number.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I think it's less the total number.
- 20:54Speaker 3: It's more than guarantee, right, So they're all coming in
- 20:57Speaker 3: around fifty million and guaranteed, whether it's Sauce Stingley, Trent McDuffie.
- 21:02Speaker 3: So like, I think at the end of the day,
- 21:05Speaker 3: you have like a parameters based off of what Trent
- 21:07Speaker 3: McDuffie just signed of, Like that's the top of the
- 21:09Speaker 3: market for a cornerbacks. Each cornerback now is gonna come
- 21:12Speaker 3: in probably like five hundred thousand dollars more than.
- 21:15Speaker 1: The last ye.
- 21:16Speaker 3: So like at the end of the day, not to say,
- 21:19Speaker 3: like to us five hundred thousand dollars is like life changing,
- 21:22Speaker 3: but to five hundred thousand dollars for the Patriots and
- 21:24Speaker 3: the salary cap and all that kind of stuff is
- 21:27Speaker 3: not really a detriment. So, uh, those two guys are
- 21:30Speaker 3: gonna be, you know, tied together. They're they're gonna have
- 21:34Speaker 3: very similar contracts, very similar guarantees and all that kind
- 21:37Speaker 3: of stuff, And both of them right now are playing
- 21:40Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 21:41Speaker 6: Of hardball with their teams, and you're gonna probably see
- 21:43Speaker 6: the same thing happen next year when all the quarterbacks
- 21:46Speaker 6: are up. Right, you know that draft class looks really good.
- 21:49Speaker 6: If if Jayden Daniels bounces back this year, there could
- 21:52Speaker 6: be four guys looking to renegotiate with Caleb Williams. Drake
- 21:55Speaker 6: may obviously at the top of that list, but both
- 21:57Speaker 6: Knicks two and maybe Dan yep. So they're all going
- 22:02Speaker 6: to want to wait to see what the other gets.
- 22:04Speaker 6: And you know, only one of them is going to
- 22:05Speaker 6: wind up being the highest paid guy, right, and.
- 22:08Speaker 5: That's probably going to be the last one who's generally
- 22:10Speaker 5: how it works.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see what the quarterback
- 22:14Speaker 3: contracts because there's been some scuttle but about adjusting the
- 22:19Speaker 3: salary cap for the quarterback contracts, whether it's the quarterback
- 22:23Speaker 3: contract doesn't count one hundred percent towards the salary cap,
- 22:27Speaker 3: or the quarterback contract is you know, has a cap
- 22:31Speaker 3: to it that it's like a max contract like they
- 22:33Speaker 3: do in the NBA or something like that, because like,
- 22:36Speaker 3: you know, like that, I think that it not counting
- 22:39Speaker 3: to the full percentage.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Of the cap could work. Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I think that's because like if you're going to pay
- 22:44Speaker 3: Drake May sixty five million dollars a year like you
- 22:48Speaker 3: the Patriots have to do it, and you know that's
- 22:52Speaker 3: the going rate, but that really does change what you
- 22:55Speaker 3: can do.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Do you think the owners would like that, because then
- 22:57Speaker 5: that takes away their excuse to say, oh, we had
- 22:59Speaker 5: a give quarterbacks so much money we can't give you.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I don't think the owners would like that.
- 23:04Speaker 6: Like in the NBA, you know, to Evan's point, you
- 23:06Speaker 6: can go over the cap, like to sign your own guys,
- 23:10Speaker 6: like you know, that's why you know, Brown and Tatum
- 23:11Speaker 6: or Max players, but cap purposes like they're way over
- 23:15Speaker 6: the cap.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's why Bill chishm came in what do
- 23:19Speaker 1: you call them in the second apron deey.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Banners, like you know, he came in and he you know,
- 23:24Speaker 6: he sold off some parts because that number is so high.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I don't think the NFL owners would like that.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know, so it's that is it's it's
- 23:34Speaker 5: something to look at the fact that he wasn't there.
- 23:35Speaker 5: But there's other notable Mac Collins wasn't here. There's yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 5: both corner the other cornerback Carlton Davis wasn't here.
- 23:43Speaker 7: I've seen pictures of him the photo galeries that he's
- 23:46Speaker 7: been around, but it's just a little in Texas. I
- 23:48Speaker 7: saw someone online and something. I mean, he's been around too.
- 23:51Speaker 7: When he came out to the to the Six Lives
- 23:54Speaker 7: with us, he was at the shop. But it's just
- 23:56Speaker 7: jarring and you see how important those two guys are
- 23:59Speaker 7: and how quickly it drops off. And you know, it's
- 24:01Speaker 7: impossible to have six great corners that.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You believe in.
- 24:04Speaker 7: But you know, Fildor has been a traveling Guy's been
- 24:07Speaker 7: with a bunch of teams. I mean, Charles Woods did
- 24:09Speaker 7: okay as the third filling corner, but you know with
- 24:12Speaker 7: with Draymond Jones and and and Ponder at the edges too.
- 24:16Speaker 1: You know, it's just you see kind of where the
- 24:17Speaker 1: cracks could be if the Jones is gonna be one
- 24:20Speaker 1: of the starters. Watch.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Yeah, Well I just think you hope that like this
- 24:23Speaker 3: opportunity allows some of those guys to emerge and and
- 24:27Speaker 3: like maybe develop and maybe you know, Karen Punt is
- 24:29Speaker 3: a player, like and you're not going to get a
- 24:32Speaker 3: look at him. I mean he had seven picks in
- 24:36Speaker 3: college too, so like it's a guy that that has
- 24:39Speaker 3: production on the ball from his college tape. The gay
- 24:42Speaker 3: back is one also worries me, Like gay back is
- 24:45Speaker 3: didn't participate in rookie mini camp, then first day of
- 24:49Speaker 3: OTAs that we're out there for he's not out there again. Uh,
- 24:52Speaker 3: that could be one of it could be injury. It
- 24:54Speaker 3: could be contract with him too. You know, those second
- 24:56Speaker 3: round picks want garant full four years of guarant ted money,
- 25:01Speaker 3: and it's starting to kind of trickle into the second round. Obviously,
- 25:04Speaker 3: the first round is all guaranteed. Last year, I think
- 25:06Speaker 3: it was through the top fifty. Most of those guys
- 25:08Speaker 3: got guaranteed. He was fifty five, So like does it
- 25:11Speaker 3: stretch all the way to him? So maybe it's contract related. Uh,
- 25:14Speaker 3: he had the hamstring during the pre draft process. Maybe
- 25:17Speaker 3: it's injury related.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I don't like it.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I don't like it when you drafted the guy in
- 25:20Speaker 3: the second round and the health of all.
- 25:23Speaker 1: He's the one.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Most only three that you're talking about really realistically having
- 25:27Speaker 7: a chance I think, to contribute. But he's the one
- 25:28Speaker 7: that you it was kind of penciling, like you're gonna
- 25:30Speaker 7: need this guy at least on third down.
- 25:32Speaker 1: At the very least he's the third edge guy.
- 25:34Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I think that Jones and Landry will start,
- 25:37Speaker 6: but yeah, I expect Akis to be a contributor from
- 25:40Speaker 6: day one.
- 25:41Speaker 3: That was like I'm almost more concerned about that than
- 25:44Speaker 3: I am with Gonzales, Like they'll.
- 25:45Speaker 6: Figure out are.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yet, But with Acus, like if they you know, you
- 25:51Speaker 3: never want to draft the guy that's hurt, Like that's
- 25:54Speaker 3: never a good way to start, because we've seen this
- 25:56Speaker 3: before where like the train starts and if a rookie's
- 25:59Speaker 3: not on the train when the train starts with everybody
- 26:02Speaker 3: else and they fall behind and then they sometimes they
- 26:05Speaker 3: never catch back up. That's right, and that that can
- 26:07Speaker 3: be really difficult to do. Uh. So we'll see. Hopefully
- 26:10Speaker 3: he's out there next week or at mini camp once
- 26:12Speaker 3: we get to that portion.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Next Tuesday we get our next crack, right, yes, and
- 26:16Speaker 6: the next two Tuesday.
- 26:17Speaker 7: How did Dobbs look? Okay, I mean I think he's bigger. Granted,
- 26:22Speaker 7: Paul and I were talking about we were standing next
- 26:24Speaker 7: to him. We were sitting, you know, above on the
- 26:26Speaker 7: on the hill and I mean he was standing next
- 26:28Speaker 7: to Chishim and Pop Douglas and I'm like, he looks
- 26:30Speaker 7: pretty big.
- 26:31Speaker 1: You know he's kind of standing amongst the small guys.
- 26:33Speaker 7: But you know, the first play of eleven's he hit
- 26:36Speaker 7: him on a little slant. They had a couple you
- 26:38Speaker 7: know where Drake kind of overshot him going up the
- 26:40Speaker 7: sidelines a couple of times.
- 26:41Speaker 6: But you can see he's a big physical I mean,
- 26:43Speaker 6: I want to see. So in an effort not to
- 26:49Speaker 6: further fan the fins, I said to Mike there was
- 26:53Speaker 6: like second or third rep. It's like a deep fade
- 26:57Speaker 6: down the sideline. Dobbs May throws it out to him,
- 27:01Speaker 6: probably overthrew him by like five yards, like really not close,
- 27:04Speaker 6: And I went, should.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I tweet it?
- 27:08Speaker 7: May?
- 27:08Speaker 1: And Dobbs struggled just not. They can't seem to get
- 27:11Speaker 1: to it was.
- 27:12Speaker 6: I was just joking, never realizing that, you know, I
- 27:15Speaker 6: was gonna end up there anyway. Not doing that, I
- 27:18Speaker 6: still ended up there.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Look like he got like maybe caught up on some
- 27:21Speaker 3: contact and like in my head when the ball is
- 27:23Speaker 3: in the air, I was like, keep running like like
- 27:25Speaker 3: he can, Like Drake's gonna throw this ball fifty yards,
- 27:28Speaker 3: like you need to keep running now. He played with
- 27:30Speaker 3: Jordan Love so like you would think that he has
- 27:32Speaker 3: that understanding because it was like a blitz they sent
- 27:35Speaker 3: to through the B gap and Drake kind of threw
- 27:37Speaker 3: it off his back foot, and I think Dobbs stopped
- 27:39Speaker 3: to look for the ball, thinking that the ball was
- 27:41Speaker 3: coming and the ball was was upfield, and I think
- 27:44Speaker 3: he was kind of surprised at how much arm strength
- 27:47Speaker 3: was you know.
- 27:47Speaker 7: Part of it right like that, Yeah, all this now
- 27:49Speaker 7: they're getting a feel for each other, like you know,
- 27:51Speaker 7: Drake talked about it, understanding where he wants the ball,
- 27:54Speaker 7: Dobb's understanding where Drake likes him to be. You know,
- 27:57Speaker 7: this is it's there's such a chemistry to it that,
- 28:00Speaker 7: you know, to expect these guys to come out and
- 28:01Speaker 7: just be firing passes.
- 28:02Speaker 6: All over thee a little bit much.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I just think that like the slantedy cor right out
- 28:08Speaker 3: at the shoot of practice, like that's going to be
- 28:09Speaker 3: his game. Like throwing fades to him down the sideline
- 28:12Speaker 3: is not why Romeo Dobbs is here like that, agree
- 28:15Speaker 3: that you know his game is going to be the
- 28:16Speaker 3: possession stuff, the underneath stuff.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Moved the chains that I also stay in the receiver position.
- 28:20Speaker 7: It felt like Kyle Williams getting specifically pumped up a
- 28:24Speaker 7: little bit by Vabel in the pregame. You know, it's
- 28:25Speaker 7: just it, it feels to me reading between you know,
- 28:28Speaker 7: reading the tea leaves a little bit with how they're
- 28:30Speaker 7: kind of talking about him that you know they're hoping
- 28:32Speaker 7: for big things out of him this year.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You know it's trying too hard. Yeah, I trying to
- 28:36Speaker 1: convince us too hot. I don't know.
- 28:37Speaker 7: I really feel like he's either going to be boomer
- 28:39Speaker 7: busts this year. Like I just I can't quite put
- 28:42Speaker 7: my finger. I thought, I think he looks like he's
- 28:44Speaker 7: in good shape. I think he does. Like I didn't
- 28:45Speaker 7: really notice Drake looking a little bigger. That didn't really,
- 28:48Speaker 7: but I did feel.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Like Williams is, we don't have that right, thick yoked.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I Kyle Williams like the backup X, right. I mean
- 29:01Speaker 3: we all expect Aj Brown to be here, So Brown, Dobbs,
- 29:05Speaker 3: Mac Collins, you know, probably Pop I would think would
- 29:08Speaker 3: still be here. And like it's Kyle Williams, your fourth
- 29:11Speaker 3: or fifth receiver at best.
- 29:13Speaker 1: And you know that's how I feel about Yeah, it
- 29:16Speaker 1: gets to that point and it's not piece more than likely.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but I feel like that's you know, like we
- 29:22Speaker 3: were talking about the other day, Like Kayshaun Booties in
- 29:24Speaker 3: the last year of his contract, he's probably a little
- 29:26Speaker 3: bit redundant day J Brown. Kyle Williams is the guy
- 29:29Speaker 3: that's still developing, Like, that's the guy that should be
- 29:31Speaker 3: behind AJ Brown. Yeah, you know that's the type of
- 29:33Speaker 3: player when you talk about getting a J.
- 29:35Speaker 7: Brown being twenty nine, you still would love to have
- 29:39Speaker 7: Kyle Williams in the pipeline and have him developing and
- 29:41Speaker 7: feeling like, all right, if one of these guys does
- 29:43Speaker 7: get hurt.
- 29:43Speaker 1: It's going to mean more opportunities for him.
- 29:45Speaker 7: You know, Hollins and Douglas also free agents next year too,
- 29:48Speaker 7: So you know, you can't make everything happen if it
- 29:51Speaker 7: is dobbson Brown, you're gonna need another guy or.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Freddie fair amount of AJ Brown talk.
- 29:56Speaker 6: When the players you know came out, you know they
- 30:00Speaker 6: Milton Williams about him, obviously they were teammates in Philly.
- 30:04Speaker 6: A lot of good things to say about AJ Brown.
- 30:09Speaker 6: We'll see, you know, next week. I think it could
- 30:11Speaker 6: happen as early as Monday, Right, Monday's June first, Right,
- 30:16Speaker 6: We'll see how quickly that that ends up getting sorted out.
- 30:18Speaker 6: But it certainly seems like the Patriots players are more
- 30:21Speaker 6: than willing to talk about AJ Brown in a way
- 30:24Speaker 6: that you would.
- 30:25Speaker 5: Think that also that plus, if the Eagles were taking
- 30:29Speaker 5: in calls through their channels, they would get it out
- 30:32Speaker 5: there that we're still picking up the phone.
- 30:35Speaker 3: That's what's getting out of im.
- 30:37Speaker 1: That's how I've been reading it.
- 30:39Speaker 7: She's kind of been I feel like talking to the
- 30:41Speaker 7: Eagles and Chefter's talking to the Patriots.
- 30:43Speaker 3: It feels like that's like, you know, I don't know
- 30:45Speaker 3: where we're at. Perhaps she's annoying me. I don't know
- 30:48Speaker 3: what his motivation is like here, like he's either doing
- 30:53Speaker 3: one of two things. He's trying to, like Alie Roseman's
- 30:56Speaker 3: trying to like drum up a market again for AJ
- 30:58Speaker 3: Brown and so Rappitport came out yesterday and said like
- 31:02Speaker 3: that they still are haggling over detail, like they don't
- 31:06Speaker 3: have any terms agreed to. The Patriots are holding out
- 31:08Speaker 3: and don't want to give up a first round pick,
- 31:10Speaker 3: and basically made it sound like their their world's apart
- 31:14Speaker 3: here on a trade. And then Schefters on the other
- 31:17Speaker 3: side saying this has been done for months, essentially like
- 31:20Speaker 3: he's tweeting out things like the expected trade to the Patriots.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yeah, during just recently during draft weekend, I know that,
- 31:28Speaker 1: but I'm talking about the last few days.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Schefter has I think last week he
- 31:33Speaker 3: was on his podcast saying that, you know, like it's
- 31:36Speaker 3: still he still is staying, staying firm that he's going
- 31:39Speaker 3: to be a Patriot, you know. And then Rapaport's on
- 31:41Speaker 3: the other side, and I think that for some reason.
- 31:44Speaker 2: You know, they both worked for the same company base.
- 31:46Speaker 6: But something I think maybe maybe Rapaport is talking more
- 31:52Speaker 6: to Howie Roseman, and as Evan just said, Roseman's trying
- 31:56Speaker 6: to say, hey, Ian, see if you could drum.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Up the play both sides, the plain little competition, and you.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Know, and Adam's talking a little bit more to the Pagets.
- 32:04Speaker 6: They're like, yeah, you know, you know, we pretty much
- 32:06Speaker 6: have the parameters done. I would just say one thing.
- 32:09Speaker 6: There's a lot of people that keep talking about this,
- 32:11Speaker 6: and I understand the whole June first aspect of this.
- 32:14Speaker 6: They're like, well, they can't they might not be able
- 32:16Speaker 6: to do it June first. They might have to wait
- 32:18Speaker 6: till like the third or the fourth, because they don't
- 32:20Speaker 6: want to make That's what I was going to say.
- 32:21Speaker 6: But I don't really understand, like why does it look
- 32:23Speaker 6: bad like they could do it today if there's nothing
- 32:26Speaker 6: preventing them from doing it today except for Philadelphia doesn't
- 32:29Speaker 6: want to do it for cap purposes. Right the trade
- 32:31Speaker 6: deadline the new league year started at the beginning of March.
- 32:36Speaker 6: You can make a trade anytime you want until the
- 32:38Speaker 6: trade deadline comes in the middle of the season Halloween whenever.
- 32:42Speaker 6: It is, like, they don't have to wait till a
- 32:44Speaker 6: certain day to make it look good.
- 32:45Speaker 5: That's what I That was my Well, it's not a
- 32:47Speaker 5: matter how it looks, but can is there a rule
- 32:50Speaker 5: about this whole cap thing that you can't do a
- 32:54Speaker 5: deal and wait until June first?
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 32:56Speaker 3: No, but what you can but you can have This
- 32:59Speaker 3: is the second thing I will wanted to bring up.
- 33:01Speaker 3: There's this undercurrent of that, like the NFL doesn't want
- 33:04Speaker 3: this to happen right on June first because it looks bad.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I don't get it, like almost like it's tampering before
- 33:09Speaker 3: the league year starts, right, But that but that's we're
- 33:12Speaker 3: not in a tampering window right now. We're in We're in.
- 33:16Speaker 2: If it's tampering.
- 33:17Speaker 3: We're in an open transfer.
- 33:19Speaker 5: This is a financial rule, and they don't want to
- 33:22Speaker 5: Like maybe I don't know. Is there a rule that
- 33:24Speaker 5: you can't set a deal in place and then wait
- 33:27Speaker 5: until June first to make it official?
- 33:30Speaker 3: You can't, Yeah, but like the rule is that there is.
- 33:32Speaker 1: A rule, but I don't think there is.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I don't know, But there's a difference. We're saying, like,
- 33:36Speaker 3: there's no rule saying that you can't negotiate though.
- 33:40Speaker 6: This is what there's a rule every day and then
- 33:42Speaker 6: the trade.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Actually there's a rule saying that saying.
- 33:47Speaker 5: What you're saying is you're talking, talking, talking, Oh we
- 33:50Speaker 5: just happened to get on the same page June first.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Like, I don't understand why there is something like you.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Know, I don't know.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I don't understand that belowboard.
- 34:01Speaker 3: I don't understand why the if that's an element of this.
- 34:03Speaker 3: And you know, obviously Chefter and Rappaport now kind of
- 34:07Speaker 3: work for the same people. But Rapaport has always been
- 34:09Speaker 3: an NFL media guy, And like, is there a chance
- 34:13Speaker 3: that the league is saying, hey, guys, like let's make
- 34:16Speaker 3: this at least look like they waited until June first?
- 34:18Speaker 3: But I still can't figure out why that matters. It's
- 34:21Speaker 3: not the league year. Like when you like, you make
- 34:23Speaker 3: a trade before the league year, they don't like that
- 34:26Speaker 3: because it's tampering.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Right, So you know then you can say, well, then
- 34:30Speaker 5: why don't just announce it? Well, the player can't be
- 34:33Speaker 5: on campus until it's official.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Right, and that all I understand.
- 34:38Speaker 6: Now, I would wonder, and I don't think these kinds
- 34:41Speaker 6: of cases come up that often. But the way this
- 34:44Speaker 6: is going to play out, if it plays out the
- 34:46Speaker 6: way we all think, and come June first, the trade comes,
- 34:49Speaker 6: even if it's not to the Patriots, whoever it goes to,
- 34:51Speaker 6: I wonder if the league would just say, yeah, we
- 34:53Speaker 6: let you designate a cut in March and just designated
- 34:57Speaker 6: a post June first cut. I wonder if they'll just say,
- 34:59Speaker 6: you know, if you want to do that with a trade,
- 35:01Speaker 6: you can also do that with trade like one. You
- 35:03Speaker 6: can't just like do it for all your transactions one
- 35:07Speaker 6: you can designate post June first. I have This is
- 35:10Speaker 6: kind of silly to me.
- 35:12Speaker 3: I've asked several people like Miguel and people like that
- 35:15Speaker 3: that know way more about the salary cap than I do,
- 35:18Speaker 3: as to why it's allowed to do it with a
- 35:21Speaker 3: free agent, Like you can release a player and designated
- 35:24Speaker 3: it post June one, but you can't trade a player
- 35:26Speaker 3: and designated post June one. I don't understand what the
- 35:29Speaker 3: difference is like either way the players. There is no
- 35:31Speaker 3: difference to me.
- 35:32Speaker 6: And the reason why they made that change in the
- 35:34Speaker 6: first place is because it was beneficial to the player.
- 35:36Speaker 1: If the player knew he was.
- 35:38Speaker 6: Going to get released, he didn't want to wait and
- 35:40Speaker 6: be on the market on June first. You know, now
- 35:44Speaker 6: everybody has all made their moves, maybe they look at
- 35:46Speaker 6: it as well. If it's a trade, he's going to
- 35:48Speaker 6: a specific team, he's not looking for a job. But
- 35:51Speaker 6: at the same time, it's not ideal for the player.
- 35:53Speaker 3: This is like, what's the circus that this is turning into?
- 35:56Speaker 3: Is like getting crazy? Like you know, and now all
- 35:59Speaker 3: the reports coming out. Rappaport has one thing, Schefter has another.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Then I saw Josina Anderson put her like reporting in
- 36:06Speaker 3: the in the hat and now she's got her reporting
- 36:09Speaker 3: out there, and it's like, this is all just We're
- 36:12Speaker 3: just going all over the place with this and all
- 36:14Speaker 3: of it is waiting just because at four one on Monday.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Now it's a post June one trade and the Eagles
- 36:20Speaker 3: salary cap.
- 36:21Speaker 7: Is going to be It's silly And is there a
- 36:23Speaker 7: world where I'm just like speculating, But like Kaishan Booty
- 36:26Speaker 7: is just studying the Eagles playbook on his own. AJ
- 36:28Speaker 7: Brown is studying the Patriots playbook on his own, you know,
- 36:30Speaker 7: like everybody knows. But we just have to go through
- 36:32Speaker 7: the charade of waiting till I get what you guys
- 36:36Speaker 7: are saying. I mean, ultimately get the play around the team.
- 36:37Speaker 7: If you know he's going there, you know, they make
- 36:40Speaker 7: the best thing for the team and the preparation in
- 36:42Speaker 7: the off season.
- 36:42Speaker 5: I'm sure there's something that we don't know about that
- 36:46Speaker 5: the reason why the teams have to wait beyond just
- 36:51Speaker 5: you know, the cap thing. I don't know, but it's
- 36:55Speaker 5: only the cap thing.
- 36:56Speaker 2: So then why are they waiting.
- 36:58Speaker 3: They have to wait because they did they have to
- 37:00Speaker 3: wait for the cap to process the trade. Now, I
- 37:03Speaker 3: think there's a chance that we could, you know, Sunday night.
- 37:06Speaker 3: I'm not making any plans, like there's a chance that
- 37:08Speaker 3: Sunday night, they like wrap a sheet or schefter could
- 37:11Speaker 3: tweet out barring any like failed physicals Max Crosby, Like
- 37:16Speaker 3: the Patriots and the Eagles have a trade. AJ Brown's
- 37:19Speaker 3: going to New England. He's probably got the post already,
- 37:22Speaker 3: you know, Monday morning, like whatever. But for some reason,
- 37:24Speaker 3: maybe it's content. Maybe it's just because they want to
- 37:27Speaker 3: give this as much time to talk about the clicks.
- 37:29Speaker 3: I mean, look at us, we're talking about it again
- 37:31Speaker 3: for the seventeen times.
- 37:32Speaker 1: All right.
- 37:32Speaker 5: A five to five past five hundred is the hotline
- 37:34Speaker 5: podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address. Phone
- 37:40Speaker 5: lines are lit up, emails are coming in. Uh So,
- 37:44Speaker 5: let's get right to it. We'll start with Sam in
- 37:46Speaker 5: North Carolina.
- 37:47Speaker 1: What's up? Sam? Hey?
- 37:48Speaker 2: Sam?
- 37:50Speaker 10: Hey, Hey Sam, I just want to say, by listening
- 37:57Speaker 10: to it yesterday and like even in bar like, I
- 38:00Speaker 10: feel like we're homes because we're we're all the same
- 38:03Speaker 10: age and everything, and it's just a good conversation when
- 38:05Speaker 10: you're riding and just listening, I feel like I'm a
- 38:07Speaker 10: part of it. I feel like you contradicted yourself yesterday though,
- 38:10Speaker 10: because you said Drake May is undoubtedly a superstar when
- 38:15Speaker 10: he's teetering on that level. He really is, But I
- 38:18Speaker 10: feel like he's still a young star in the lead
- 38:20Speaker 10: because you turn around and you said, he has to
- 38:21Speaker 10: do it again, and I agree. I feel like he
- 38:24Speaker 10: checked so many boxes last year, except for the clutch
- 38:29Speaker 10: situations because he didn't really have to. I point to
- 38:32Speaker 10: the Baltimore game.
- 38:32Speaker 7: Though.
- 38:33Speaker 10: If he can be that in clutch situation, he's undoubtedly
- 38:38Speaker 10: a superstar. There's no doubt about it, and he's waiting
- 38:41Speaker 10: to burst. But I don't feel like he's a superstar yet.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Well, listen, one season does not make a superstar.
- 38:49Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Yeah, even if he had won the super Bowl, I
- 38:51Speaker 1: don't think.
- 38:51Speaker 5: I think it's too early to I think make anyone
- 38:54Speaker 5: a superstar after one good season.
- 38:57Speaker 3: I think where I was coming from with that was like,
- 38:59Speaker 3: Drake made the brand, is a superstar, Drake May the player,
- 39:03Speaker 3: like you got it, Like I want to see him
- 39:05Speaker 3: do it again, But like there's no like Drake May
- 39:07Speaker 3: is now a brand name quarterback in the league. He's
- 39:10Speaker 3: a superstar.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got his own nickname.
- 39:13Speaker 5: You know, he's the Pharaoh's Drake May.
- 39:19Speaker 3: That that that's what it. Those are kind of two
- 39:22Speaker 3: separate things. Maybe it's semantics, but like Drake May's you
- 39:26Speaker 3: know persona, his his actual brand has reached a level
- 39:31Speaker 3: now because I think we were talking about the last
- 39:33Speaker 3: question that Tom Current asked, which I thought was a
- 39:35Speaker 3: pretty good question, which is like, how do are you
- 39:37Speaker 3: handling being Drake May, which like changed a.
- 39:41Speaker 5: Lot in the in the words of Andy Hart, is
- 39:45Speaker 5: he a top tier quarterback?
- 39:46Speaker 2: Or is he a quarterback in the top tier?
- 39:49Speaker 3: We don't. I think we don't know that yet, right,
- 39:51Speaker 3: I don't think. I think that element is the element
- 39:53Speaker 3: we don't know yet. Now we do know that for
- 39:56Speaker 3: NFL fans, like Drake May is now a household name.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Like if you are somebody that has that is an
- 40:02Speaker 3: NFL fan, you know who Drake May is and he's
- 40:05Speaker 3: a star. Is he an elite quarterback yet?
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 40:09Speaker 3: We don't know.
- 40:09Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 40:10Speaker 5: He's getting he's on the right path, but certainly has
- 40:14Speaker 5: the tools, but there's more work to do and he'd
- 40:17Speaker 5: be the first to admit it.
- 40:18Speaker 7: How'd you guys feel about I mean, I felt with
- 40:19Speaker 7: Brady it was the one Super Bowl run.
- 40:22Speaker 1: It was like that's really cool.
- 40:23Speaker 7: But you know, as a casual fan just watching it,
- 40:25Speaker 7: I'm like, well, this guy kind of came out of nowhere.
- 40:28Speaker 7: Things kind of lined up, you know, and then I
- 40:32Speaker 7: kind of checked out in O two a little bit,
- 40:34Speaker 7: and then three they came back with a vengeance. And
- 40:36Speaker 7: I remember they talked about this on the radio this morning.
- 40:38Speaker 7: I remember Bellchick saying, mid O three was when we
- 40:41Speaker 7: felt like Brady really grasped what we were trying to do,
- 40:44Speaker 7: understood the why of all of it. So, you know,
- 40:47Speaker 7: I think there's still time for Drake.
- 40:48Speaker 6: But I had my my some doubts and reservations heading
- 40:52Speaker 6: into two, and then you know, he comes out and
- 40:54Speaker 6: he lit it up in O two when they led
- 40:56Speaker 6: the league and touchdown passes, and I was like, Okay,
- 40:58Speaker 6: they made the right call, because you remember they gave
- 41:00Speaker 6: him the contract after all one, I know, and people said, no, no,
- 41:05Speaker 6: it was in French right because there was a lot
- 41:07Speaker 6: of indecision not everybody, and everybody recognized what Brady had
- 41:10Speaker 6: done in O one, but they were like, you know,
- 41:12Speaker 6: like you said, Mike, it kind of came out of nowhere.
- 41:15Speaker 6: Or is this guy really that good? I mean, the
- 41:17Speaker 6: leaves touchdown passes again and O two. That's the biggest difference.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Though, Like Drake May is a third overall pick, like
- 41:23Speaker 3: he didn't come out.
- 41:24Speaker 6: Oh yeah, it's a big It is a different thing
- 41:27Speaker 6: because you know that people were wondering about Brady's skills.
- 41:31Speaker 6: Now we all watch Brady as a rookie even and
- 41:34Speaker 6: we're like, his skills were drastically undersold.
- 41:36Speaker 1: When we all saw him on the practice.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Field, were like, he throws the ball just fine, He's
- 41:40Speaker 6: got good size.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You know, he looks like he has an idea of
- 41:44Speaker 1: what he's doing.
- 41:44Speaker 6: Like, I thought his skill set was under sold, but
- 41:48Speaker 6: it pales in comparison to Drake May's skill set.
- 41:50Speaker 5: I think Brady's story is the perfect example of people
- 41:54Speaker 5: just reading headlines about Michigan. Why didn't he play everything
- 41:58Speaker 5: not really knowing the situation in Michigan. Yeah, yeah, and
- 42:01Speaker 5: if you had it, you'd be like, no, he's really good.
- 42:03Speaker 6: No they I think they knew the situation. I think
- 42:06Speaker 6: that instead of blaming Lloyd Carr, they blamed Tom Brady.
- 42:11Speaker 10: Right.
- 42:11Speaker 6: Well, you know I think that a lot of people said, well,
- 42:13Speaker 6: if he was really that good, yes, he would have
- 42:15Speaker 6: taken the decision out of his hands. No, he was
- 42:19Speaker 6: that much better than Drew Henson was, and for some reason,
- 42:22Speaker 6: Lloyd Carr wouldn't do it that was on Lloyd Carr.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Yeah right, Yeah, I mean easy to say in retrospect,
- 42:29Speaker 1: and I'd say I feel pretty good.
- 42:31Speaker 7: I mean AJ Brown move hopefully going to happen, and
- 42:34Speaker 7: if that is the case, then I feel good about
- 42:37Speaker 7: how they're building around him, the priorities they're showing, you know,
- 42:40Speaker 7: making these guys a priority, showing the willingness to move
- 42:44Speaker 7: on from something that worked last year because you don't
- 42:47Speaker 7: know how many more years it's going to work. For
- 42:49Speaker 7: making the offensive line a priority.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Go get Vera Tucker. I mean they you know, there's
- 42:52Speaker 1: some chances that they've taken, but I think when.
- 42:55Speaker 7: You talk about putting protection around him and putting the
- 42:58Speaker 7: weapons around him, you know they're doing aretty good jobs.
- 43:00Speaker 6: Can't argue that. You can't argue that they haven't done
- 43:03Speaker 6: enough to support Drake May. They've taken tackles in the
- 43:06Speaker 6: first round the last two years. They've taken a wide
- 43:09Speaker 6: receiver that they're gonna they're gonna trade for that. A
- 43:12Speaker 6: lot of people would be interested in a J.
- 43:14Speaker 5: Brown.
- 43:15Speaker 6: They took a tight end this year in round three
- 43:17Speaker 6: to replace the second tight end from last year. They signed,
- 43:21Speaker 6: you know, they signed Vera Tuka As you said, I
- 43:24Speaker 6: love saying Vera Tukah. You know, to solidify an offensive line,
- 43:30Speaker 6: they add another guy and put resources into when Romeo dobs.
- 43:33Speaker 6: Like Fred just mentioned, you can't argue that they haven't.
- 43:37Speaker 6: They haven't really done anything to help their young quarterback.
- 43:41Speaker 6: They have some continuity with Josh McDaniels two years in
- 43:44Speaker 6: a row, first time in four years that he's had
- 43:46Speaker 6: the same offensive system.
- 43:49Speaker 3: It just shows that, like obviously Drake Mays much more
- 43:52Speaker 3: talented quarterback. But they did not do this for mac Jones,
- 43:56Speaker 3: and maybe Mack would failed anyway.
- 43:58Speaker 6: They didn't do it for Brady at the but the
- 44:00Speaker 6: argument there was that Brady didn't need it.
- 44:03Speaker 3: But you know Mac Jones from twenty one to twenty two,
- 44:06Speaker 3: Devant Parker. Yeah, they didn't do what they're doing.
- 44:09Speaker 1: No doubt that mac Jones got done dirty. Yeah he did.
- 44:12Speaker 1: He did.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Like I don't think he's ever gonna be.
- 44:15Speaker 1: We say thank you to him too. Like Matt Patricia.
- 44:17Speaker 2: No, I wouldn't put him on the level of Matt Patricia, but.
- 44:21Speaker 3: He has part of the reason why they failed.
- 44:23Speaker 5: Let's put it this way, Matt Jones has the right
- 44:26Speaker 5: to complain about what happened here, He has the he has.
- 44:29Speaker 1: The right right or not, he's probably gonna do it. No,
- 44:32Speaker 1: but he there's ever there's reason for him to complain.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Not to relitigate that whole thing. But like he needed
- 44:39Speaker 3: it more than Drake did. Yeah, you know, because he
- 44:41Speaker 3: didn't have physical ability, right. And so if they had
- 44:44Speaker 3: gone into twenty two and they traded for like an
- 44:46Speaker 3: AJ Brown type of player and they signed a Romeo
- 44:49Speaker 3: Dobbs type of player and they were building up the
- 44:51Speaker 3: line and doing what we would have felt a lot.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Better about it still be here.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Yeah, Now he don't know about that, but you know
- 44:57Speaker 3: it would have set him up a lot more for
- 44:59Speaker 3: success than what they.
- 45:00Speaker 5: He could have handled it a little better on his end.
- 45:03Speaker 5: Two sure, but I you know, like he's a young
- 45:08Speaker 5: guy and he's kind of probably freaking out, like what's
- 45:10Speaker 5: going on here?
- 45:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know Elliott was here for that. So
- 45:13Speaker 3: like maybe Elliott Wolf, even though he wasn't the one
- 45:15Speaker 3: making the decisions at that time, he was still in
- 45:18Speaker 3: the building and he probably sat back and said, we're
- 45:21Speaker 3: not doing that again to another first round pick at quarterback,
- 45:24Speaker 3: Like this time, when we get our chance, we're going
- 45:26Speaker 3: to make sure he has aj Brown and he has
- 45:28Speaker 3: Romeo Dobbs, and he has an offensive line, and he
- 45:30Speaker 3: has two running backs that can tote the rock and
- 45:33Speaker 3: we're going to make sure that he's taken care of.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, letting Jacobe Myers walk, I mean, like the
- 45:37Speaker 1: one guy that he.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Can only replacing him with Juju, like and like just
- 45:41Speaker 3: doing a one for one swap, and like, you know,
- 45:43Speaker 3: that was the time, Like that was the time to
- 45:45Speaker 3: go all in and pay a bunch of dudes and
- 45:49Speaker 3: bring in a bunch of free agents and help, and
- 45:51Speaker 3: they just didn't.
- 45:51Speaker 1: It might be my shining moment was that's one of
- 45:54Speaker 1: my bigger misses.
- 45:55Speaker 5: Well, they did bring in a lot of free agents
- 45:58Speaker 5: that one year in twenty one.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, they didn't stack it, Like they didn't build
- 46:04Speaker 3: on his rookie season, you know, and last year was
- 46:06Speaker 3: kind of Drake May's you know, first season, like I
- 46:09Speaker 3: don't really count as rookie season anymore. And you know,
- 46:12Speaker 3: they didn't just stick by and stay complacent. They went
- 46:15Speaker 3: out and they did all the things that Paul listed.
- 46:18Speaker 5: All right, let's go back to the phones. Christian in La.
- 46:21Speaker 5: What's up, Christian?
- 46:25Speaker 11: Hey, you're doing today are doing this afternoon?
- 46:27Speaker 2: Okay a couple so a.
- 46:30Speaker 11: Couple of things pop up. One, I did want to
- 46:33Speaker 11: double down on what you guys said about the job
- 46:35Speaker 11: that the NFL has done in making that edict that
- 46:38Speaker 11: football doesn't stop. The game to stop, but football doesn't stop,
- 46:43Speaker 11: and it's really put it in that stratosphere where the
- 46:46Speaker 11: game is sort of at the game. There's so many
- 46:49Speaker 11: things that line up from day to day moments, moments
- 46:52Speaker 11: that are equally and as intriguing sometimes as the actual
- 46:56Speaker 11: games on Sunday. So kudos to football from making sure
- 46:59Speaker 11: that it doesn't stop. Secondly, I did want to touch
- 47:02Speaker 11: on what Evan was saying about Drake May now hitting
- 47:05Speaker 11: superstar status, but someone's kind of uh, you know, jumped
- 47:08Speaker 11: on that this morning. But there's an element I think
- 47:10Speaker 11: also about how the family then the gets becomes scrutinized,
- 47:14Speaker 11: and you know, off field stuff and everybody in his
- 47:17Speaker 11: circle orbit becomes a little more under a microscope. And
- 47:20Speaker 11: I think that part is what we're wondering. How is
- 47:23Speaker 11: Drake May prepared for you know, yeah, he's getting into
- 47:26Speaker 11: media training now, but how is he prepared for the
- 47:28Speaker 11: stuff that people are going to try to take you
- 47:31Speaker 11: down right, They're going to try to find something to
- 47:34Speaker 11: break your continuity, to make it seem like he's, you know,
- 47:37Speaker 11: a diva whatever it is. But they they're all going
- 47:38Speaker 11: to come after him. And I'm wondering how he's set
- 47:40Speaker 11: up for that. And then and then, uh, last point
- 47:44Speaker 11: and that I wanted to make was but what is
- 47:47Speaker 11: the tone that Mike Rabel is going to set? Because
- 47:49Speaker 11: we've been with the team post Super Bowl wins, and
- 47:52Speaker 11: we've been with the team posting bow loss, and the
- 47:54Speaker 11: tone that gets set in that off season and that
- 47:57Speaker 11: that mini camp, in that camp really does to me
- 47:59Speaker 11: the fine how we're going to bounce back?
- 48:02Speaker 8: Take it up the air?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Okay?
- 48:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean he lost some leaders last year and
- 48:08Speaker 5: now he's got to figure out who are my leaders
- 48:10Speaker 5: this year? But I have full confidence that Mike Vrabel
- 48:14Speaker 5: will be able to set the tone that helps his
- 48:18Speaker 5: team this year.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I think the tone is but we need to go
- 48:22Speaker 3: even harder.
- 48:23Speaker 12: You know.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Kyle Williams, I don't know if his Instagram, snapchat, whatever,
- 48:27Speaker 3: but he posted yesterday after practice and was like, why
- 48:30Speaker 3: does it already feel like it's training camp? Because of
- 48:32Speaker 3: how like hard practice was? And I think that they
- 48:36Speaker 3: you know, they're not. You know, Deuce has talked about
- 48:38Speaker 3: it like there's no more shortcuts. Like last year was
- 48:41Speaker 3: the first year in the system. It was the first
- 48:43Speaker 3: year for the coaching staff, and now I feel like
- 48:46Speaker 3: their tone is like we need to go up and
- 48:49Speaker 3: eat again another and.
- 48:51Speaker 5: I think there they they could get into it faster,
- 48:54Speaker 5: Like there was some you know, like, you know, what
- 48:57Speaker 5: are we doing today?
- 48:57Speaker 2: What are we doing tomorrow?
- 48:58Speaker 5: Not not not that they weren't organized last year, but
- 49:01Speaker 5: there was some feeling out of like, you know, how
- 49:04Speaker 5: do these days look Now? I think you're right into it.
- 49:07Speaker 7: Yeah, new coaching staff, a lot of pieces from different parts, right,
- 49:10Speaker 7: we're working together for the first time. Grabel had that
- 49:14Speaker 7: kind of tone of just you know, it went better
- 49:16Speaker 7: than it went last year, I think, is what he said. Yeah,
- 49:18Speaker 7: so all that stuff helps, but it's you know, I
- 49:20Speaker 7: just think they're gonna need it all. They're gonna need this,
- 49:23Speaker 7: you know, aj Brown, They're gonna need him, They're gonna
- 49:26Speaker 7: need you know, Drake may to take that step. And
- 49:29Speaker 7: it goes back to I forget how you put it
- 49:30Speaker 7: last year, Paul. You were saying like their window is
- 49:34Speaker 7: like this to this wins, but all bets are off.
- 49:36Speaker 7: If Drake may just plays make his mind, it makes
- 49:39Speaker 7: them you know, ultimately the leap there, Yeah, and I
- 49:41Speaker 7: think you know there's another leap to be made kind
- 49:44Speaker 7: of against these really good defenses. And you know, I
- 49:47Speaker 7: liked what Drake had to say yesterday about going back
- 49:49Speaker 7: and watching the Super Bowl and the plays that he
- 49:50Speaker 7: wants back. And you know, I I I like that
- 49:53Speaker 7: better than the Heidish flush that I can't like. I
- 49:55Speaker 7: want that to eat it and I want to learn,
- 49:57Speaker 7: you know, I want him to you know, know what's
- 49:59Speaker 7: waiting for him when he has to go into that
- 50:00Speaker 7: Seattle Kingdom.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Is it still the kingdom? You know they're gonna be rockets.
- 50:04Speaker 1: It's gonna be a what a way to open the season.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's gonna be really cool. It does
- 50:08Speaker 1: huge tasks.
- 50:09Speaker 3: It feels like this is you know, last year was
- 50:12Speaker 3: a little bit of like lighting in a battle. This
- 50:15Speaker 3: feels like they want to like almost more business like
- 50:18Speaker 3: in a way of like now you know, you.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Know what the you know what you're looking for, you
- 50:23Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 50:24Speaker 7: Like the way they played like they kind of.
- 50:27Speaker 6: So it is funny, like I thought last year, they did,
- 50:30Speaker 6: you know, a good job of using sort of the doubt,
- 50:32Speaker 6: you know, the schedule and that stuff, you know, to
- 50:35Speaker 6: prove people wrong.
- 50:36Speaker 1: And then you're like, well then you went to the
- 50:38Speaker 1: super Bowl, so you can't do that again. But I
- 50:40Speaker 1: think they are doing it again.
- 50:42Speaker 6: I think that they they're hearing people sort of talk
- 50:46Speaker 6: about it's going to be harder this year, yea, And
- 50:48Speaker 6: I think that's kind of the motivation. I think that
- 50:51Speaker 6: there there was a lot of them that were asked
- 50:53Speaker 6: about opening in Seattle, and they are I think using
- 50:57Speaker 6: it as an opportunity to sort of show that last
- 51:00Speaker 6: year was no fluke and they expect to be contenders again.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 51:04Speaker 7: I mean there might not be a ten game win
- 51:05Speaker 7: streak this year, you know, like it might be a
- 51:07Speaker 7: little bit more of an up and down battle. But
- 51:10Speaker 7: I think no matter how this season kind of goes,
- 51:12Speaker 7: and I think injuries will be a huge part.
- 51:13Speaker 1: I mean that's something last.
- 51:14Speaker 7: Year that you know, they were incredibly lucky with injuries
- 51:17Speaker 7: last year, they really didn't have to battle through much,
- 51:20Speaker 7: especially after seeing some of the depth and specific spots,
- 51:22Speaker 7: which again every team has to deal with.
- 51:24Speaker 1: But I think you're going to get to the end
- 51:25Speaker 1: of this season. Regardless of how goes.
- 51:27Speaker 7: They're going to be a much better football team at
- 51:29Speaker 7: the end of this year, and you know, going into
- 51:31Speaker 7: twenty twenty seven, if they can get some momentum going
- 51:34Speaker 7: and build off of this season. I just I think
- 51:37Speaker 7: I'm really gonna like where they're at after this year.
- 51:38Speaker 7: It sounds weird to say, like, but I just think
- 51:41Speaker 7: this is the year you need to have. You need
- 51:43Speaker 7: to go against all these really good teams and get
- 51:45Speaker 7: just such a huge sample size for Drake May this
- 51:47Speaker 7: year of going playing in tough places and tough defenses,
- 51:50Speaker 7: and like, like Christian said, people are coming for you
- 51:54Speaker 7: this year.
- 51:54Speaker 1: They know the Patriots are kind of the Patriots thirty one.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Other teams are trying to do the exact same thing
- 51:59Speaker 5: we're doing. Uh, Todd's and Gardner, what's up?
- 52:02Speaker 1: Todd?
- 52:05Speaker 13: Hey guys, I'm sorry to that emailer if this has
- 52:09Speaker 13: been repeated, because I know they don't like that. But Paulie,
- 52:12Speaker 13: I'm so glad that you put that tweet out there. Man,
- 52:14Speaker 13: I got friend updated me. I knew that this was
- 52:17Speaker 13: too good to be true. I knew this was gonna
- 52:19Speaker 13: fall apart, you know, it's just everything. Yeah, coming off
- 52:22Speaker 13: the wheels. Drake may can't find anybody downfield. He's got
- 52:26Speaker 13: no connection with the receivers. You know, can just you
- 52:29Speaker 13: don't replace them. Maybe do we have that option? Or
- 52:32Speaker 13: you think maybe we can get some better morning he
- 52:36Speaker 13: was in you know, what do you think we're gonna
- 52:37Speaker 13: be able to do?
- 52:37Speaker 10: Here?
- 52:38Speaker 1: Paul? A lot of work to be done.
- 52:41Speaker 5: I know that was all sarcasm, but good, good, good one.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Eldred in North Carolina.
- 52:47Speaker 1: What's up?
- 52:49Speaker 8: Hey, hey man, Hey, love to show love y'all always,
- 52:52Speaker 8: Hey Powell. I agree with you, man, it's a passing camp.
- 52:55Speaker 8: You ain't gonna get one hundred percent all the time anyway,
- 52:59Speaker 8: even with receivers. And if we do get a J. Brown,
- 53:03Speaker 8: they're gonn miss him a couple of times too because
- 53:04Speaker 8: he ain't used to him. So what's the hack. That's
- 53:07Speaker 8: the passing camp. And if you ain't played sports before,
- 53:10Speaker 8: even in high school, we had the same Durham problem
- 53:12Speaker 8: until you got in the season, so I don't understand.
- 53:16Speaker 8: But but Evan, thank you for hitting on your senior Anderson.
- 53:21Speaker 8: But did you read her report that she came out
- 53:23Speaker 8: with the other day Thursday?
- 53:26Speaker 3: Rather I read one that they had this morning. I
- 53:29Speaker 3: don't know if you're talking about the same one.
- 53:31Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, the same one. What he's saying that New
- 53:34Speaker 8: England now don't want to give up the first and
- 53:36Speaker 8: they're haggling over it, and I'm gonna read to what
- 53:38Speaker 8: she said in the last part. However, Anderson also added
- 53:42Speaker 8: that when dealing with Howie Roseman and the Eagles, nothing
- 53:46Speaker 8: is one hundred percent until it's completely finalized. Any other
- 53:49Speaker 8: team could swoop in. And that's how this rose and
- 53:53Speaker 8: they haggling over the first round, first round conversation. Patriots
- 53:58Speaker 8: want to but how he ain't going forward. Yeah, so
- 54:05Speaker 8: if we get him, we get him. If we don't,
- 54:07Speaker 8: well that's just that's the way I look at it.
- 54:10Speaker 1: All right, Thanks, Eldred, appreciate the call.
- 54:13Speaker 6: See that's the thing that I like the most is
- 54:15Speaker 6: the way Mike talked about sort of the optimism heading
- 54:19Speaker 6: into the season. I feel really good about things, even
- 54:22Speaker 6: if they don't get them. Now I think they're going to.
- 54:24Speaker 6: I think it's all about a done deal. But even
- 54:27Speaker 6: if they don't, I feel like that whole second year
- 54:31Speaker 6: with Drake and you know, Dobbs comes in, you know,
- 54:35Speaker 6: maybe he won't be as efficient as Digs was last year.
- 54:37Speaker 6: He's not as good a player as Digs was, you know,
- 54:40Speaker 6: so there might be some drop off there, But I
- 54:42Speaker 6: think that the natural progression of some other spots, you guys,
- 54:45Speaker 6: I think.
- 54:46Speaker 1: On Tuesday, we talked about.
- 54:47Speaker 6: The addition to Reggie Gilliam could impact a guy like
- 54:50Speaker 6: Trevion Henderson. I like where they are, even if it
- 54:53Speaker 6: doesn't end up happening.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they got options. I again, I always have
- 54:57Speaker 1: to Travon whenever I watch him practice, like he fat,
- 55:00Speaker 1: like he's just he's otherworldly fast. I'm always I know.
- 55:04Speaker 7: On Tuesday, we talked about being a little bit like
- 55:06Speaker 7: Lukewarm on his outlook for second season.
- 55:08Speaker 1: But he continues to jump off the.
- 55:10Speaker 7: Off the field with how fast and how well he moves,
- 55:12Speaker 7: so hopefully he can find those creases a little bit
- 55:15Speaker 7: more consistent.
- 55:16Speaker 3: I like where they are. I don't love it. If
- 55:19Speaker 3: they have a J. Brown, I love it, And I
- 55:21Speaker 3: don't thought you a level like Doyn't get me wrong,
- 55:25Speaker 3: but you're just looking out there yesterday, and you know,
- 55:28Speaker 3: Booty and Matt Collins certainly would help, but you don't
- 55:32Speaker 3: really have a guy like you have Romeo Dobs, I
- 55:34Speaker 3: think is a really good second wide receiver. I don't
- 55:37Speaker 3: know if Romeo Dob he might be miscast a little
- 55:39Speaker 3: bit as a number one wide receiver.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Plus, we need to know how much the offensive line
- 55:44Speaker 5: is approved, you know, because even if you have a J. Brown,
- 55:48Speaker 5: if if that doesn't get better, then you're going to struggle.
- 55:51Speaker 5: At the time, yeahs the better team.
- 55:54Speaker 3: I thought. Will Campbell looked like he was in great shape,
- 55:57Speaker 3: good and you actually not to make it a thing
- 56:00Speaker 3: like when you looked at him standing next to Lomu,
- 56:03Speaker 3: you could tell that one person has been in the
- 56:05Speaker 3: NFL for a calendar year and the other is a rookie,
- 56:08Speaker 3: you know, just in terms of mass, like just pure
- 56:11Speaker 3: muscle and the ass you have a.
- 56:13Speaker 7: City even when when Campbell stands next to Rabel, like
- 56:15Speaker 7: because you know, I always think of Rabel as like
- 56:17Speaker 7: a really good size guy, you know, play in that position,
- 56:21Speaker 7: and the Campbell's that.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Was a big guy.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Because it's a big different job.
- 56:25Speaker 5: Kale writes in Hello, my name is Michael, longtime listener.
- 56:28Speaker 5: It sounds like Paul is pessimistic about the offense this
- 56:31Speaker 5: early in the off season.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Could call it he's down all right, we're gonna take
- 56:36Speaker 1: a break.
- 56:36Speaker 6: I love that they rallied to my defense. I'm really
- 56:39Speaker 6: I'm touched to.
- 56:39Speaker 5: Take a break when we come back. More calls and emails. Uh,
- 56:43Speaker 5: it's all Patriots today. We're not in the off season
- 56:45Speaker 5: right now.
- 56:46Speaker 2: We're we're we're in there.

- 59:06Speaker 15: With great reaction to seeing the Seahawks on the schedule
- 59:08Speaker 15: for week one, I think it's a it's it's a
- 59:11Speaker 15: chance for us to get some extra motivation, dear in
- 59:14Speaker 15: training camp, you know with the starting off with the bang,
- 59:16Speaker 15: you know, like that, you know, a chance to get
- 59:17Speaker 15: a opponent that you.
- 59:19Speaker 16: Left the bad taste in our mouth.
- 59:20Speaker 15: So I think it's, you know, something for us that's gonna,
- 59:23Speaker 15: you know, really make us work. You know, we gotta,
- 59:25Speaker 15: you know, bring it week one. You know, on the
- 59:26Speaker 15: road in a tough environment. You know, with their you
- 59:28Speaker 15: know they're gonna be hanging their banner and and that's
- 59:29Speaker 15: the part of it. So I think it's gonna be
- 59:31Speaker 15: it's gonna be interesting, and it's gonna be fun. It's
- 59:33Speaker 15: gonna be a tough task. So it'll be something for
- 59:35Speaker 15: us to be gutture motivation and make training camp better.
- 59:39Speaker 1: About watching the Super Bowl and some guys that said
- 59:41Speaker 1: they don't want to go back and rewatch these super Bowl.
- 59:43Speaker 16: Some guys have said, yeah, you know, learn from the mistakes.
- 59:45Speaker 16: All that quits yourful lot of question.
- 59:48Speaker 15: I think you definitely take a peek at it, you know,
- 59:49Speaker 15: for me, you know, on the biggest stage and a
- 59:52Speaker 15: big game.
- 59:52Speaker 16: And I had a lot of players that wish I
- 59:54Speaker 16: had back. I think you can. You know, I definitely
- 59:55Speaker 16: watched it, and you know.
- 59:57Speaker 15: At such a young point in my career where you know,
- 59:59Speaker 15: I can still learn some much and first time playing
- 1:00:01Speaker 15: that defense, so you can learn things and learn, you
- 1:00:04Speaker 15: know about the game.
- 1:00:04Speaker 16: So I think there's definitely.
- 1:00:06Speaker 15: Some parts that you you know, maybe throws that I
- 1:00:08Speaker 15: maybe skip or you know know that now I don't
- 1:00:10Speaker 15: want to watch that again.
- 1:00:11Speaker 16: But there's definitely the game.
- 1:00:12Speaker 15: I think you can learn so much from just you know,
- 1:00:15Speaker 15: mistakes that you make yourself drink.
- 1:00:17Speaker 17: Is there is there if you enter your second full
- 1:00:19Speaker 17: year under Josh, is there anything specific that you know
- 1:00:24Speaker 17: you don't do as well as you should that you
- 1:00:26Speaker 17: want to work on to create growth in this year.
- 1:00:29Speaker 15: I think as an offense, we're just trying to you know,
- 1:00:31Speaker 15: keep the ball, you know, you know, moving forward, and
- 1:00:33Speaker 15: I think kind of handle the negative plays and realize
- 1:00:35Speaker 15: that when we keep the ball, you know, ahead of
- 1:00:37Speaker 15: the chains or you know, in positive plays or just
- 1:00:40Speaker 15: really avoiding negative plays is the biggest thing that you know,
- 1:00:42Speaker 15: we're working as an.
- 1:00:43Speaker 16: Offense to try to you know, maintain that.
- 1:00:45Speaker 15: And I think we put some points on the board
- 1:00:47Speaker 15: and we've show them that we can be hard to
- 1:00:48Speaker 15: stop when we do that. And then just like I
- 1:00:50Speaker 15: mentioned the details, you know, little things of all execution
- 1:00:53Speaker 15: and inside of each play that go along the way
- 1:00:55Speaker 15: with us, you know, stand ahead.
- 1:00:56Speaker 16: Of the chain. So you guys use a good amount
- 1:00:58Speaker 16: of tempo today.
- 1:00:59Speaker 15: Obviously used it points last season, but is that something
- 1:01:01Speaker 15: that maybe like to lean more into this season as
- 1:01:03Speaker 15: you're now more comfortable in the offense.
- 1:01:05Speaker 16: I think it's tough with the you know, it makes
- 1:01:06Speaker 16: it tough on the defense.
- 1:01:07Speaker 15: You know, they got to get into calls and sometimes
- 1:01:09Speaker 15: you know, the defense coordia is trying to get the
- 1:01:10Speaker 15: linebacker to make a call and the linebacker mayor made
- 1:01:12Speaker 15: a call and just it's tough on them. It's tough
- 1:01:14Speaker 15: on the guys up front, you know, sols, the past
- 1:01:15Speaker 15: ros down. I think it's an advantage for you know,
- 1:01:17Speaker 15: any offense, but I think it's tough when you got
- 1:01:19Speaker 15: to balance. You know, you're running to play fast, but
- 1:01:22Speaker 15: also making it a good play and not just incompletion
- 1:01:24Speaker 15: or something negative.
- 1:01:25Speaker 16: So that's what we're really trying to work on.
- 1:01:27Speaker 15: And I think you can only use tempo as much
- 1:01:29Speaker 15: as you know how well you're execute and how well,
- 1:01:30Speaker 15: how how good you are at it.
- 1:01:32Speaker 16: So working towards that and feeling.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: That out.
- 1:01:36Speaker 18: Going into yours, Uh second, yeah, he will.
- 1:01:39Speaker 16: He's got a great mindset.
- 1:01:40Speaker 15: I think he's kind of understands the business and what
- 1:01:44Speaker 15: this league is about.
- 1:01:44Speaker 16: You know, he kind of got a a similar experience
- 1:01:48Speaker 16: to me.
- 1:01:48Speaker 15: You know, obviously the seasons that we have were different
- 1:01:50Speaker 15: between mind and his my first year, but you know
- 1:01:51Speaker 15: he got the full you know, length of the season,
- 1:01:53Speaker 15: you know, the ups and downs of it.
- 1:01:54Speaker 16: And I think he's got a great attitude.
- 1:01:56Speaker 15: He's working his butt off in there those offensive linem
- 1:01:58Speaker 15: and then they've been doing a great job in the
- 1:01:59Speaker 15: way room now listening the same weights as them, but
- 1:02:02Speaker 15: I've been there with them, so it's fun to watch them.
- 1:02:05Speaker 15: I think, you know, he's going to be He's got
- 1:02:06Speaker 15: a little bit of a you know, a little extra
- 1:02:08Speaker 15: you know, motivation for himself to to prove to us
- 1:02:11Speaker 15: and prove to himself. He's can be a you know,
- 1:02:13Speaker 15: one of the best players in this league at his position.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Where are you of the A. J.
- 1:02:17Speaker 12: Brown rovers?
- 1:02:17Speaker 16: How much do you know about him?
- 1:02:18Speaker 8: And you know a guy like that, Yeah.
- 1:02:21Speaker 16: I think it's part of the NFL.
- 1:02:23Speaker 15: They throw names around there around every team, depending whoever
- 1:02:26Speaker 15: looks best in the graphic and the jersey on social media.
- 1:02:29Speaker 15: So you know, I'm really just focused with have some
- 1:02:31Speaker 15: new guys in here that I'm working with, and I
- 1:02:33Speaker 15: know there's some you know, a lot of talk with that.
- 1:02:36Speaker 15: But you know, if he ends up being our team, great,
- 1:02:38Speaker 15: you know what a great player. And if he doesn't,
- 1:02:40Speaker 15: we still we have worked these guys here, so it's
- 1:02:41Speaker 15: it's self balance.
- 1:02:42Speaker 16: But I know he's a phenomenal player.
- 1:02:45Speaker 18: Romeos getting a connection with him or is that still
- 1:02:49Speaker 18: kind of a working I think it's working.
- 1:02:50Speaker 16: I think it's building. I think it's you know, he's eager.
- 1:02:52Speaker 15: That's the best thing you see in a in a
- 1:02:54Speaker 15: new receiver in a new offense like Romeo. You know,
- 1:02:56Speaker 15: it's different terminology. It's been in office for a couple
- 1:02:58Speaker 15: of years, the same quarterback. You know, I kind of
- 1:02:59Speaker 15: got kind of learn, you know, highlights to do things
- 1:03:02Speaker 15: how I like to see it when he's running routes,
- 1:03:03Speaker 15: and I think it's just gonna be it better and better.
- 1:03:05Speaker 15: And he's a great player. He's he's got some great
- 1:03:07Speaker 15: He's already been a great player in this league. So
- 1:03:09Speaker 15: looking forward to you know, building that connection and you'll
- 1:03:11Speaker 15: find his role in this.
- 1:03:12Speaker 16: Offense negative players.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: We saw the interception today.
- 1:03:15Speaker 15: What happened on I just left that out inside. You know,
- 1:03:18Speaker 15: you can't do that in this league. It's as simple
- 1:03:19Speaker 15: as that. So I think, you know, it's part of
- 1:03:23Speaker 15: you know, thrown out route to the field and and
- 1:03:24Speaker 15: not being you know, outside with the football.
- 1:03:26Speaker 16: These these players in this league are going to take
- 1:03:28Speaker 16: it the other way.
- 1:03:28Speaker 15: So you know, I think that's that's about it.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Again.
- 1:03:34Speaker 18: This is I think the first time five seasons that
- 1:03:36Speaker 18: you have the same offensive coordinator going from one year
- 1:03:39Speaker 18: to the next. What's it like to be able to
- 1:03:43Speaker 18: kind of have that experience. We'll get to work with
- 1:03:45Speaker 18: Josh and how that continuity run through, because again you
- 1:03:48Speaker 18: even had.
- 1:03:49Speaker 16: It in a while.
- 1:03:50Speaker 15: It's been awesome. I think not only just go and
- 1:03:52Speaker 15: rehashing over last season and how much we learned and
- 1:03:54Speaker 15: how much we kind of bounced ideas off each other,
- 1:03:56Speaker 15: but also just you know, relearning the little details that
- 1:03:58Speaker 15: he maybe top me last April or last March that
- 1:04:02Speaker 15: you just kind of man, Okay, if that happens, I
- 1:04:04Speaker 15: remember that and maybe get that.
- 1:04:06Speaker 16: But you know, I feel like I got good graphs
- 1:04:07Speaker 16: of it.
- 1:04:07Speaker 15: I got to continue to got to you know, show
- 1:04:09Speaker 15: that I have a good graph fit to my teammates
- 1:04:11Speaker 15: in the field and make a decision and put us
- 1:04:12Speaker 15: in good plays. So that's what I'm working towards, you
- 1:04:14Speaker 15: know here in O t As and it's pretty much
- 1:04:16Speaker 15: passing camp. So it's it's beautiful for me just to
- 1:04:18Speaker 15: get back there and sling the rock. So it's it's
- 1:04:20Speaker 15: great work for me and it's awesome to try to
- 1:04:23Speaker 15: take the next steps in this offense.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:04:26Speaker 19: You mentioned the bad taste from the super Bowl performance.
- 1:04:29Speaker 19: Have you leaned into that and kind of moving through
- 1:04:32Speaker 19: your off season if you tried to get that out,
- 1:04:34Speaker 19: how you kind of embraced, you know, that aspect of
- 1:04:38Speaker 19: things in becoming a better version.
- 1:04:39Speaker 16: So you know, I think that people always say flushed it.
- 1:04:41Speaker 15: I think it's hard to flush you know, a game
- 1:04:43Speaker 15: like that at that you know, extent in our sport
- 1:04:46Speaker 15: at the highest level. But at the same time, let
- 1:04:48Speaker 15: it what you learn from it, and let them motivate
- 1:04:50Speaker 15: you and let you, you know, experience what awesome experience
- 1:04:53Speaker 15: it was, you know, the learning experience and a chance
- 1:04:56Speaker 15: to feel you always wonder what it's like, you know,
- 1:04:58Speaker 15: and I got to you, I got to feel that
- 1:05:00Speaker 15: and didn't play you know, we didn't play our best,
- 1:05:02Speaker 15: you know, as a team and especially myself, you wish
- 1:05:04Speaker 15: to play better. But that's something I can, you know,
- 1:05:08Speaker 15: work on today or work on tomorrow to get back
- 1:05:10Speaker 15: and just try to get to that that same spot
- 1:05:13Speaker 15: and be on the right side of it.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Maybe not any one with the same stakes, but Sunday, yeah.
- 1:05:19Speaker 15: That the same stakes at all. It'll be fun, it'll
- 1:05:21Speaker 15: be awesome, be a lot of people. Hopefully we get
- 1:05:23Speaker 15: some fireworks after I hadn't hit a softball, so hopefully
- 1:05:27Speaker 15: some of the guys in the team will be hitting,
- 1:05:28Speaker 15: and hopefully it's at home runs or maybe some strikeouts,
- 1:05:31Speaker 15: so it should be fun.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: How do you look at this.
- 1:05:34Speaker 15: They changed with the season you had last year running
- 1:05:39Speaker 15: up for the m v P, playing in the Super Bowl.
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: I was it different in May of twenty twenty six five.
- 1:05:45Speaker 15: And you yeah, I think you try not to hopefully
- 1:05:47Speaker 15: have a change, you know. I think you try to
- 1:05:48Speaker 15: have the same same reasons why you're coming into work,
- 1:05:52Speaker 15: you know, same reasons why you want to, you know,
- 1:05:53Speaker 15: win football games. And I think that's what the one
- 1:05:55Speaker 15: of the best things we're seeing about this team is
- 1:05:57Speaker 15: we want to you know, you know, get a get
- 1:05:59Speaker 15: back and you kind of not feel like, you know,
- 1:06:02Speaker 15: last year was just a you know, one off year,
- 1:06:04Speaker 15: and we're trying to prove ourselves, you know, to to ourselves,
- 1:06:07Speaker 15: you know really and then and then to the to
- 1:06:09Speaker 15: this football to this football league that we're a tough
- 1:06:11Speaker 15: team to beat.
- 1:06:12Speaker 16: We're gonna bring it every day.
- 1:06:13Speaker 15: And I think that's what this identity and what we're
- 1:06:15Speaker 15: building here is starting to become. And I think that
- 1:06:17Speaker 15: takes it takes a little bit of work, you know,
- 1:06:20Speaker 15: to not just have a year like we did and
- 1:06:22Speaker 15: and just you know, it's hard not to have a
- 1:06:25Speaker 15: natural fall off or have a natural get complacent. So
- 1:06:29Speaker 15: it's gonna be uh, it's gonna be a tough challenge.
- 1:06:30Speaker 15: But at the same time, I think we're up forward
- 1:06:32Speaker 15: and I like the guys and how we've been, you know,
- 1:06:34Speaker 15: working towards that.
- 1:06:35Speaker 16: Thank you guys.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: And now great moments in history.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: You know, when you're looking at the trunk of the stem,
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: you got to worry about the branches.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Did you stack them? Yeah? Yeah, leak, Yeah, I haven't
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: seen that beast thing?
- 1:06:56Speaker 10: Is that?
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: What are you getting into?
- 1:06:57Speaker 16: That?
- 1:06:57Speaker 10: Is that?
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: No?
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: I did get I stepped on another horn.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: It's nest. This has happened multiple times. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: my Freddy, I worry about you arms. He's just stomping
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: around my legs. I worry about So you got like
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: multiple stakes.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Like twenty beast things. Yeah, I got attacked.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we need like we need you. The season starts.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: Luckily I'm not allergic to it, but I am swollen
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: and itchy.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: So what they get just on the armor arm and legs?
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: Yeah, Freddy, can you not step on it's a jungle
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: out there.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: All right back here and Patriots Sun Filterday five to
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: five past five hundred podcasts at patriots dot com as
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: the email address, a lot of Patriots talk We're back
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: into it.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Full bore, full bore.
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: However, Jeff and Vancouver says, UH just wanted to make
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: sure that Paul knew about an upcoming earth winded Fire
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: documentary set to drop on HBO June third.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Did you know about that? WHOA? No, I did not,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: but I will be sure to check.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: It out because Paul is a big earth Wind and
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: Fire fan. Would you say that's your favorite band?
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I would say it's probably my favorite.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: You like them the way these guys like Bruce Springsteen with.
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: These guys, So no, Matt Smith, I don't think I
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: have that affinity for any anything. Like the people that
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: are like really into Bruce, I haven't think saying but yeah,
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: the earth Wind and Fire and the Commodorees down the Summer,
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: I mean, that's Stevie. That's my sweet spot, right Oh,
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: I love Stevie is one of the wonder Wind and
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: Fire secretly was born in Motown, so seriously, one of
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: the three best albums maybe that's ever been produced.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: I was at a music festival and I was we
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: were there for Green Day to be honest, but Stevie
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Wonder was like the last person to perform, and we
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: were actually planning on leaving after Green Day. I'm not
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: gonna lie to you, And then Stevie got up there
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: on the piano and just started going and like we
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: were like, just it's actually unbelievable. We need to stay
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: for this. So he ended up staying and watching Stevie
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Wonder too, and he was fantastic. Yeah, he was still,
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: you know, doing the bobs and the weed.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: He was there for Green Day and Steve Wonder. I
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: don't know who this is, Stephen. You saw Stevie Wonder
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: by accident.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: Yeah, we were there. It was Chain Smokers Green Day,
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: which is what we were really there for.
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: Was Stevie Wonder at this and then Stevie Wonder and
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: it was so bizarre and it's kind of weird.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, you know that Green.
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: Day is like our Oh no, that's I'm not a
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: huge Green Day fan, but I'm not. This is knock
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: Casions Green Day, Like, yeah, trying to figure out why, you.
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: Know, the Dave Matthews Band is coming to Great Woods
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: in a couple of weeks.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: One of the city of the Worst that was the
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: experiences of my life.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: It's perfect.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: So of course Mike is alluding I have You might
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: not know.
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: I got bamboozled into going to a Dave Matthews concert
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: with my girlfriend.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I saw Matthews here, I've seen him. It was the
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: old Foo.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: I just remember they were.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Carlos Santana that day.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. I was powdering, that makes sense.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I was powering.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: They just played Ants Marching for like twenty minutes and
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: it was great. They just kept going and going and going,
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: and each person in the band got their own solo,
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: their own ten seconds of fame, and it was just
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: they must have played Ant's Marching for twenty five minutes.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: And I'm not as it was.
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: I saw Santana. They opened for Dave Matthews, but then
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: Carlos came out and played with Dave Matthews, which that
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: was like, wow.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: That was great.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: Kevin Chris with a T I A N Rights in
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: Deuce is incredible, mad when they go twelve four and
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: mad that he has to grind in his work when
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: they go to the super Bowl. There is no pleasing you.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: As Doctor Evil would say, oh not mad, not mad.
- 1:11:10Speaker 7: I just feel like it went by fast. That's all
- 1:11:12Speaker 7: I mean, it did go I mean it's been it's
- 1:11:15Speaker 7: been great. I still have my vacations ahead of me,
- 1:11:17Speaker 7: so you know there's still time to get away.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: But it just all happens so fast.
- 1:11:20Speaker 7: But I mean, honestly, if you like things going by
- 1:11:23Speaker 7: I mean I going to the super Bowl is.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Great, going to the Combine is always is a great time.
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: I just hate time going by fast, and especially my age,
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: I want to slow it down a little bit.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: I just hate like having nothing, like nothing to do,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: no place to be like that. Like that, really, that
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: boredom sets in. Yeah, and sometimes in the off season
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: when you have a six month off season that can
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: happen this year that hasn't happened.
- 1:11:47Speaker 7: It's like those five weeks of the playoffs that you're
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: at home just kind of watching the playoffs each week
- 1:11:52Speaker 7: and we're doing shows talking about the playoffs and stuff
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: like it. Just it feels such a world apart from
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: when you're actually in it, and like going to the
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: locker room, you know, it's the playoff pressure.
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: And you know all that Rick and Riverside Rhode Island
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: reminds me of Bob, the old Bob Coosey when he
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: used to do the Red Celtics game Wick Welby with
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: the we.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Bound remember that watch it.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: Anyway, Rick says, has.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Any second or third year players look like they've had
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: some body development? We have heard Williams in may look
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: noticeably bigger. Have you observed any other players who may
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: have added some muscle mass just Williams?
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: For me, I didn't really many didn't really stand out
- 1:12:33Speaker 7: to me, but Williams seemed a little bit like he
- 1:12:35Speaker 7: had gotten some weight.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Lower half especially.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: But that's like one of those big speed butts.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Speed guys like that got big lower half thick.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: He has big lower halfs. Matthew, Yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: The fun little moment.
- 1:12:49Speaker 7: I don't know you caught it yesterday, but they were
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: doing some sprints warming up, and it was Pop and
- 1:12:53Speaker 7: Kyle Williams kind of side by side, and it seemed
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: like they were connor racing each other, but not really,
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: but like you could see that they were. They were
- 1:12:59Speaker 7: pretty and I was surprised that that Douglas was because
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: I think if Douglas is really quick but not necessarily
- 1:13:05Speaker 7: a blazer.
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: Yeah, straight line speed. This was just a straight sprint
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: and you know, Williams was faster, but not by as
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: much as I thought.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: I think there are both four or four guys so
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: the their forties weren't too far off.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: Jackie in and I, but just simply wants to know
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: what about Caleb Lomu.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: One of the things that did not to go pessimistic,
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: but one of the things that did dawn on me
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: was especially without Akis out there, like how much contributions
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: are they really going to get this year from this
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: draft class? You know, like Lomu looks like he's on
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: the long term Morgan Moses replacement plan for now. You know,
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: maybe he develops quickly and you know it really gets
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: into a heater in training camp and gets involved in
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: the starting line up there. But right now, you know,
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: Eli Reridan I first time out didn't do anything bad,
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: didn't do anything good, just didn't really stand doubt either way.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: And then I think we all don't really have a
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: ton of expectations for the day three guys that they
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: that they picked to be like, you know, huge impact players.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: So we're so used to these last couple of draft classes,
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: like guys coming on and immediately being like the best
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: player on the field, at their position, and I just
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: don't know if we're gonna we're gonna have to adjust.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: You're not gonna say that the case, right, That's not
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: gonna be the case anymore. Where you know, you draft
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Drake May and then you draft Will Campbell, even going
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: back to Gonzo, Like, we've had three straight drafts where
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: your top picks have been day one starters or you know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Drake May, you know, long term starters, and this doesn't
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: doesn't have the same feel to this draft class.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Maybe browns out there next week, that might that might
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: help some of that.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Well, the free agent class is different, but the draft
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: class specifically, you know, Raredan like it was clearly behind
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: Hill and Hunter Henry at least like, so you know,
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: him getting into the mix is going to be we'll see,
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: you know, we'll see.
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: Kevin in Providence. I'd love to hear Paul's thoughts on
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: who was working for who? Between Adam Schefter and Ian
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: Rappaport's conflicting reports on the A. J. Brown trade, talk.
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: Not gonna see the Florida Mike yead. I thought Mike's
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: theory was plausible.
- 1:15:09Speaker 7: Now it sounds like Rapaports pumped the brakes. And Schefter's
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: like done deal. So I mean, I've had enough work
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: experience to know that negotiations are all ongoing always and
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: you're always trying to find ways to get leverage or
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: you know, points that you can make the other side concede.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: So you know, even if they have the.
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: Framework of a deal, there might always be a better
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: deal out there. So I know, I wouldn't rule anything
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: out of you know, them trying to keep the door
- 1:15:36Speaker 7: open for someone to swoop in and say, you know what,
- 1:15:38Speaker 7: we've done a week of OTAs we realize we need
- 1:15:40Speaker 7: a guy like aj Brown and we're gonna do what
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: it takes to steal in from the Patriots.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: The only thing out because I called said I was
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: annoyed by Ian Rappaport, But like in his defense, I
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: do think there's a chance that they discussed the trade
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: months ago. They both agreed that there could be a
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: trade to be had between the two parties. The Eagles said, hey,
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: we're going to wait till June first, and the Patriots said,
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: call us on May twenty eighth, and we'll.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: You know, we'll do the rest a little bit more.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: We'll do the rest of the negotiation. I think that
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: there's other business to be handled, is my point. Like
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: you have the draft, you have you know, you have
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: to make your draft picks, you have other free agency moves.
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: You know, if you can't do the deal till June first,
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: then the final negotiation and getting it actually over the
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: hurdle probably is happening right now.
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: Yeah, so you can also look at it too, you know.
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: You know, we talked about Gonzales and you know the
- 1:16:31Speaker 6: contract that he is presumably going to get, and maybe
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: there's some money moving that you have to do to
- 1:16:38Speaker 6: sort of prepare for something like that too. You got
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: aj Brown's money coming on the books, you got perhaps Gonzales' money. Now,
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: Gonzalez's money this year probably will not necessarily impact anything,
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: you know, one way or the other, but Browns will,
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: and maybe you get some money moving to do.
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Jackie and Auber again, who is a big Michigan
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Wolverines fan. We Michigan fans all knew that Brady should
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: have started ahead of Drew Henson. When Lloyd Carr recruited Henson,
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: he promised him he would start, which was a cardinal
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: sin against the legacy of beaucham Beckler, who famously declared
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: the only thing Michigan would ever promise a recruit was
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: a locker into football uniform.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Oh go.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Bo Scham Butckler reference wasn't expecting that one.
- 1:17:28Speaker 20: Sure, let's see that was a tough one to root
- 1:17:33Speaker 20: for Bo Scham Beckler against Woody Hayes. Yeah, it's a
- 1:17:36Speaker 20: tough one there, hard choosing sides on that one.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: You hate them both.
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: Not a huge fan of either one, I mean both,
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: but great coaches. I'm not saying that they just don't.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Like hardcore coaches.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: John Wooden not not your guy. John Wooden was a
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: big time cheater. Was he brutal? Really brutal?
- 1:17:56Speaker 6: So you know, he used to tell me these stories,
- 1:17:59Speaker 6: the late great Allen Greenberg who covered them and uncovered
- 1:18:03Speaker 6: a lot of these scandals that for some reason were
- 1:18:05Speaker 6: just swept under the rug.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: So like violating n C double A rules huge.
- 1:18:10Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, unbelievable boosters, like paying the roster and like
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: way before you know, Yeah, at.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: His time, I was always I always leaned a little
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: bit more to Ohio State over Michigan. Like I just
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: felt like Michigan always played this like old school smash mouth,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: run the ball forty times.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: But you're talking now.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, like Ohio State plays like NFL football, but they
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: play actual.
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: But in the seventies when it was Boschambacher against Woody Hayes,
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: it was two.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Like I just you know, in my lifetime, I
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: feel like Michigan still is like defense, run game, line.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: Of scrimmage largely that's accurate, and like they always just
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: beat teams because they were just Michigan. They had bigger dudes.
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: And right now, I would root for Ohio State against Michigan.
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: There was a time I would root against I would
- 1:18:58Speaker 6: root for Michigan against Ohio State just so I could
- 1:19:00Speaker 6: buzz balls.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: But I think Evan's right, Like the way that Michigan
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: plays now is kind of hard. That's kind of weird.
- 1:19:07Speaker 7: Like do you have a army Navy or like you
- 1:19:09Speaker 7: even though you're not really rooting every time I think
- 1:19:12Speaker 7: I root for Michigan.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I don't like you said that. I'm like, who do
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: I I don't really have a dog in that fight.
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: I don't have a dog in the army, but you do.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Now, I always root for Navy.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: I forget which one it is Army or Navy, but
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: one of them has like this has like modernized, like
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: the triple option offense, and it's like, actually, like Navy,
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: it's actually pretty pretty cool to watch.
- 1:19:36Speaker 6: They throw the ball a little bit more, both of
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: them do.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: So it's well, you guys are too old.
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: But I when I was a kid on you know,
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: New Year's Day, you'd have like Nebraska versus Oklahoma, and
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: they would wear the tear away jerseys. So they run
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: the ball so much. By the end of the game,
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: the running backs in rats.
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: So but those were two old school coaches, Tom Osborne
- 1:19:58Speaker 6: and Berry Switzer and I and I enjoyed why then, Yeah,
- 1:20:01Speaker 6: and they largely ran the ball too.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was this game, the Army Navy game
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: that I when I went, I mean that's what it was.
- 1:20:07Speaker 16: It was.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: And that's like, because we don't have a team in
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: the New England area to really latch onto. That's why
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: it was never like huge into college football because like
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: the game just wasn't aesthetically pleasing to me. Like they
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: didn't throw enough, they didn't do any like it was
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: just four yards in a cloud about that now though, No,
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: now the games they opened the game up a little
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: bit more, it's more interesting.
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: Uh, Cody says, I'm loving all the talk on which
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: Patriots have beefed up this offseason.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: It's my favorite spring topic life.
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: Rumors were or are there reports out of Kansas City
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: the Taekwon Thornton is looking.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Huge replace like a Google I saw something.
- 1:20:45Speaker 7: I'm talking about Jade and Daniels being really skinny, that
- 1:20:48Speaker 7: he's lost weight. I don't know if that was pretty weight. Yeah,
- 1:20:51Speaker 7: that's I don't know if it was an AI generated thing.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I'm not sure that was a good decision.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: I'm not sure that's possible.
- 1:20:55Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: Well, you know, you come across something on Twitter now
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: and you have no idea if it's true or not,
- 1:20:59Speaker 7: or somebody just generated in an image, but I just.
- 1:21:01Speaker 6: Automatically assume it's not real, and then someone will say, no,
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: that was actually okay.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: That I know that he has talked about being more
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: Brady Esque like pliability and Gumby like instead of like
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: going the other way, and Lamar's gone back and forth
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: with it. Lamar's added weight, lost weight, and you know,
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: sort of you don't want to sacrifice your speed as
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: a quarterback like that. So it's it's kind of a
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: hard line to walk. But I think Jenden Daniels wants
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: to go more with like being flexible and avoiding injury
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: that way. Instead.
- 1:21:35Speaker 7: It's definitely AI because I'm seeing like I see the
- 1:21:37Speaker 7: original picture and then you know that someone else has
- 1:21:39Speaker 7: taken it and like skinnyified him, and it's like he weighs.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: One hundred and forty pounds. It looks like he's tiny.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: So like when I do Kyler like baby yea or something.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Let's go to the phone. Brad's in California. What's up, Brad? Brad? Okay, goodbye?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Brad gave up on us. He wasn't waiting that long.
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: No, Jeremiah writes in for Ota is all I look for,
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: and Drake is if he looks comfortable and confident when
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: running the plays, as well as if the ball's going
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: to the right place. That being said, how did Drake
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: look and team? From the little amount you saw not good?
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: Did he look confident?
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: I gotta admit I look at absolutely nothing comes to Drake.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: He's so low on my list of things that I
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: care about. Out of these practices, Like yesterday we were
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: joking we went thirty five minutes into catch twenty two.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: We hadn't even talked about Drake May yet yeah, because
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: I agree he's a stud. He's going to be fine.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: That's his reason.
- 1:22:38Speaker 6: My reason is doesn't matter, Like it's just really doesn't
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: once you already know how a guy throws a football,
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: like if he was a rookie, if this was his
- 1:22:47Speaker 6: first OTA. I'm watching him see how the ball comes
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: out of his hand and stuff like that. But I'm
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: not getting lost. And you know, does he look comfortable?
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: I don't know, like, yeah, yes, yeah, he looks like
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: he is right up. I don't look at any of
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: that's off. I thought he looked very comfortable at his
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: press conference just today. I made that comment, you know,
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: during the break when we were just talking about it,
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: because we played the replay of it. But OTAs are
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: not a time to necessarily evaluate all these kinds of things.
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: You know, is the where's the ball going? I mean,
- 1:23:18Speaker 6: if you were looking at that yesterday, you wouldn't be happy.
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: I'll just say that. But I don't think it matters
- 1:23:23Speaker 6: at all. I think it's completely and utterly meaningless.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: First OTA practice last year threw four picks.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: As I was reminded on and then he was the
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: runner up.
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: Thanks for gaslighting me, f so I just yeah, I
- 1:23:35Speaker 6: think this is the first thing you should have a
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: little perspective.
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: My point though, is that this is the first time,
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: probably since Brady left, where I'm not like going into
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: the practice thinking I need to kind of grade the quarterback,
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: and it's every day it's like good practice, bad practice,
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: good practice, Like this time Mike this summer, he's fine.
- 1:23:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I do find myself wondering what it might look
- 1:23:55Speaker 7: like if they, you know, were to get aj Brown
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: and Gonzales and Davis aren't back, and then you maybe
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: get into some competitive portions of OTAs or something.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: You know, how does that kind of look I just
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: intrigued of like, like receivers.
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: They didn't even use a guy out there yesterday. It
- 1:24:11Speaker 6: was like everything was like running around on the like
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: you know, I doves a couple of times went down,
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: you know, the sideline, but like it kind of looked
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: like they.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Didn't really even have an X receiver yesterday. Yeah.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: I'd love to get back to the days where you've
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: got talent both sides of the ball and they're pushing
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: each other in practice.
- 1:24:26Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little different because like Digs didn't like
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Gonzo and Digs didn't match up as much because they
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: don't play really the same roles, you know. But but
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: Brown and Gonzales, those guys are gonna go toe to toe.
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: And I remember the one cool thing that Jets ever did.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: It was their hard knocks and it was Sauce and
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: Garrett Wilson and there was no sound. It was just
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: all natural sound of like a minute of the two
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: of them just doing rep after rep after rep irons.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: And yeah, maybe we can steal that for forge and
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: do that with Gonzo.
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: And NFL film's magic right there. Yeah, good, good direction.
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: Ashton is in Hawaii and he's a little worried. He's
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: a little bit of a doom and gloomer. I'm a
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: bit worried about our depth at receiver as of now,
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: and wanted your opinion and what direction they would go
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: if the following things occur. AJ Brown's not traded. Booty
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: no longer wants to play here and they have to
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: trade him for six or seven. Kyle Williams does not
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: take a year or two leap and is looking rough
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: through the preseason, continuing to show a poor connection with
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: Drake and Diggs has already signed with another team. I
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: know This is a lot of ifs and the worst
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: case scenario. But the more I've been thinking, the more
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: I realize how bleak things would look if things do
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: not play out as we've been told in this scenario,
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: what would you do to hold down the receiver room
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: this season?
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: Various sports that made me blush. I don't think absolutely
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: everything bad can happen.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, I don't really see a world where AJ
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: Brown isn't here and neither and neither is Kaishan Boody.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: Like if AJ Brown's not here, then like, what's Kashan
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: Boody's gripe? Like he's going to start, He's going to
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: have his rollback? Like what's why would he not under contracts?
- 1:26:19Speaker 16: Right?
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: Like why would he now then turn around and not
- 1:26:21Speaker 7: be here? Yeah, I mean it's also just sorry Drake,
- 1:26:24Speaker 7: but it's on you now. I mean, it's kind of
- 1:26:26Speaker 7: what they did with Brady at points.
- 1:26:27Speaker 6: I do think that all of the things that that
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: email said are they're not like impossible, but you are
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: talking absolute worst case scenario everything that you could possibly
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: I think this is probably the best depth they've had
- 1:26:43Speaker 6: a receiver. I don't even know how long since when
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: since Edelman Amadola Gronk.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: I would say, like seven that group twenty seventeen with
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: Brandon Cooks. Cooks, Yeah, I mean like eighteen when Josh
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: Gordon was here, got good again, and then Josh Gordon
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: did the Josh Gordon thing.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: And so let's play the other side of the coin.
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: If AJ Brown does get traded and Kyle Williams just
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: get a little better, and Raridan plays well super Bowl
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: and Gillian plays well, and the offensive line can improve
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: the way we hope it should.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Now, what are we talking about aout? That's what we're
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: talking about it.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: You're talking about having one of the better offenses in football.
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: I would even expand that to the team.
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: I think you on paper got one of the better
- 1:27:29Speaker 7: teams in the league, and that you know, your talent
- 1:27:31Speaker 7: is all there.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Can you execute? Can you stay healthy? But let's go.
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: I like think let's go that much more. I like
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: thinking about that much more. Yeah, if every single thing,
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: if a meteor hits the stadium, and yeah, everything goes before.
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: The NFL can be revived after the army like everything else,
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: it'll be somewhere in between those two scenarios.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Yeah, whereas I mean, best case scenario the worst case, I.
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: Mean, some of those things will happen, because last year
- 1:27:56Speaker 7: was like everything kind of went right, you know, like
- 1:27:58Speaker 7: last year we kept saying it'll meet in the middle,
- 1:28:01Speaker 7: and that.
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: The best case scenario was the Super Bowl was like
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: everything fell into places. You did everything right, you took
- 1:28:07Speaker 6: advantage of inferior opponents, and you didn't really have a
- 1:28:10Speaker 6: ton of injuries. And Drake May made this enormous leap,
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: completed seventy plus percent of his passes and all those
- 1:28:17Speaker 6: deep balls and Kayshawn Booty making one handed catches in
- 1:28:20Speaker 6: the snow, like everything worked out.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: Yep uh.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: Paul in the Colony writes in I just wanted to
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: get this in before June first. I think the most
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: likely scenario is that back in the spring, both the
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: Patriots and Eagles said to each other, if today was
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: June first, we would have a deal. But since it
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: wasn't June first, and lots could change for either side
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: in the meantime, we will reevaluate on June first, so
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: hopefully both sides still feel the same.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Just my two cents are very possible.
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: I think something like that is something like possible. I
- 1:28:49Speaker 6: think they've probably been in contact. That's the only part
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: of that I would disagree with. I think they've probably
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: been in contact all along, you think so, yeah, or
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: regularly since then. But I do think that they put
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: the perimeters of a deal together understanding that they weren't
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: going to be able to consummate a deal until June first.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: Travis in West Virginia.
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: Paul likes to throw around the stat that Brady led
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: the league in TV passes in O two. He only
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: threw twenty eight, which is the second lowest league leading
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: total in the last forty five seasons, not counting the
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: strike seasons. It's like touting a guy who won a
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: batting title but only hit two seventy. Yeah, but he
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: did the best in the league that year, So whatever
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: the reason was, he still led the league.
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: Like Paul, if he threw twenty eight touchdowns, like, there
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: would be an asterisk. If it was the year that
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: Jameis Winston through thirty and thirty or league in touchdown passes. Yeah,
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: he led the league interceptions too, you know, like that
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: would be an asterisk. But he threw more touchdown passes
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: than any other quarterback in the league that year.
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: It was also a different time. Twenty eight now doesn't
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: sound like very many, but back then.
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: But he had the numbers even back then that wasn't
- 1:29:59Speaker 6: a high total. Yeah, but the email is right.
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: But like, were there seasons where somebody else had like
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: twenty nine and they were just you know, like those
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: things are always very I mean I.
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: Put more stock in your eyeball test. I mean you
- 1:30:10Speaker 7: watched he was much better in two, like one touchdown.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: He got.
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: That was the beauty of Brady is he got better
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: every year.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I mean he did. You could see it.
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: You could see little things that he did better from
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: one year to the next. I mean, I can't tell
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: you I'm not a you know, I'm not Josh McDaniels.
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: I can't break down exactly what he did better, but
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: just the eyeball test you watched him. Yeah, you know
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: two he was better in OH one and No. Three
- 1:30:33Speaker 6: was better than OH two, Like you could see them.
- 1:30:35Speaker 7: That's interesting thing to me is like what are those
- 1:30:37Speaker 7: little details, like you know, if you could talk to
- 1:30:39Speaker 7: Josh of like you know, what is the progression of
- 1:30:42Speaker 7: your system and what do you feel like, Yeah, Drake
- 1:30:44Speaker 7: got this last year, but these were the things that
- 1:30:47Speaker 7: he needs to improve the details. I think probably it's
- 1:30:49Speaker 7: somewhere in the details. But what are those details? You know,
- 1:30:52Speaker 7: what's probably what you talked to, Recognition of what the
- 1:30:54Speaker 7: other team's trying to do, anticipation of you know, they're
- 1:30:58Speaker 7: going to try to throw this kind of disc guys
- 1:31:00Speaker 7: at me.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: But it might look this way, but it's not going to.
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: He's the line about Belichick saying that halfway through three
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: they felt like he had really gotten to the point
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: where mentally, that's it.
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: Even beyond that, Brady was a fanatic about his own mechanics,
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: so he would work on his own with like Tom
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: House or whoever it was.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: I forget who was passing coach was Martinez to Okay,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: it's but he would he.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: Was a fanatic about I mean, I remember come out
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: with that towel and he keep the talent in his arms,
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: so we didn't get this arm too far away from
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: his body.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: Like little things like that. He was always looking to improve.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: I would say, he like kind of perfected throwing mechanics,
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: and in a lot of ways, it's like one of
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: the few quarterbacks that actually significantly improved arm strength over
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: the course of his career. Like most of the time,
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: like guys that are the arm strength, it's kind of
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: God give in and it is what it is. But
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: he was able to maximize every ounce of God given
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: ability that he had by perfecting mechanics, and like I mean,
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: his arm strength definitely improved. Maybe it was never bad,
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: like you know, some of the reports were saying it
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: was pre draft.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: But like he never had the nood alarm that some
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: people said, but.
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: It definitely got stronger and.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Could make up towards the he's missing it mac Jones.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: Mac Jones is the guy with the already shoot a shooter.
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: But the more I've seen a Brady talk, you know,
- 1:32:35Speaker 7: various places now, like even for an NFL player, he
- 1:32:39Speaker 7: is a unicorn of how obsessive compulsive he is with
- 1:32:42Speaker 7: preparation and competitiveness like that to me is just every
- 1:32:46Speaker 7: time you hear him talking about it and like about
- 1:32:48Speaker 7: what he used to do and what you know, like
- 1:32:51Speaker 7: those kind of things he's and most of these guys,
- 1:32:53Speaker 7: I don't think you make it to professional sports without
- 1:32:56Speaker 7: being kind of an overly competitive a hole.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Like that's just like that's just how those guys are.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: They want to win it everything.
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: But he is above and beyond, and then there's the
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: ones that go beyond that, like the Michael Jordan's birds.
- 1:33:10Speaker 7: But it's like not healthy, like you know what I mean,
- 1:33:12Speaker 7: Like I can't like get it straight of like you know,
- 1:33:14Speaker 7: I feel like I'm pretty competitive and like you know,
- 1:33:16Speaker 7: I like to win, but I don't. It's not going
- 1:33:17Speaker 7: to ruin my day if I lose to my friend
- 1:33:19Speaker 7: in tennis, like we go, you know, hack around a
- 1:33:21Speaker 7: little bit.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: But he got knocked out.
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: He lost, could be joker jolt.
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: He was up, he won the first two sets, he
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: lost the last two six one six ones.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: I think he got hurt.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know the details.
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: No, he got hurt.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Oh he did get hurt. Yeah, okay, Joker. I just
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: looked at the score and I said he had.
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: To be he got hurt, and he was like trying
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: to he was already up two sets, right, so he's
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: just trying to gut it out and like see if
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: he could just win.
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: The third seedd okay.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: So that like in a way it makes me feel
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: better because I know he didn't like collapse, like there
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: was a reason why he lost six.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: Playing at all.
- 1:33:58Speaker 16: So he's out.
- 1:33:58Speaker 6: So that's why I think Joe has a chance to
- 1:34:01Speaker 6: steal another major major he.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: Does, and he looked.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: It's like Tom Brady in two thousand and two in
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: his touchdown titles. Yeah right and boom right. He'll only
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: have to win two matches to win it.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: Colton Shreveport.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: Gonzo's absence doesn't necessarily concern me, as it concerns his
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: skills slash learning the defense. I'm also not concerned about
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: him getting eventually signed, especially since this team claims to
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: be draft and developed. I'm not even concerned about the
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: contract dollar amount since he.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Is the eighteen.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: Of the one beat of pat Curtains one A corners
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: in the league.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: With that, he's top five.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: It's top five.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, I think many Patriots fans will have sticker
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: shock at first, but as Paul says all the time,
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: the cap is flexible.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: In four years for thirty five million a year is
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: going to.
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: Be a steal by the end of the contract, to
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: quote John Malkovic and rounders, pay the.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: Man his money.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Pay the man has money.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Two.
- 1:35:06Speaker 7: I mean, we saw be Zalez's value in the playoffs
- 1:35:09Speaker 7: right during the season. Not a lot of number ones
- 1:35:12Speaker 7: like I think this year you're going to see more
- 1:35:14Speaker 7: of those kind of justin Jefferson jsn uh, you know,
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: number are different receivers. He's gonna like you know what
- 1:35:21Speaker 7: I mean, that's like you saw in the Super Bowl,
- 1:35:23Speaker 7: Like you're gonna need a guy like that to go
- 1:35:24Speaker 7: against the best of the best.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: And I think you'll see it this year with him
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: a lot more frequently.
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: Be a little surprised if he got thirty five. Thirty
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: five seems a little rich. Thirty two probably like, but
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: thirty five seems like like for a corner, that's a
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: lot of money. Like you're paying thirty five to receivers,
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: you're paying thirty five to pass.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Us going down, yeah, just going up.
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but thirty thirty five would be three million.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: Thirty two to thirty five is a jump. But yeah,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: I don't know a lot.
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: Of How much do you need to be consciously preparing though,
- 1:35:53Speaker 7: for Drake May's contract, Like, I mean, how much of
- 1:35:55Speaker 7: this aj Brown potential taking on that contract, having to
- 1:35:59Speaker 7: pay Gonzales?
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: You know, I mean it's this.
- 1:36:02Speaker 7: Do you think this is going to be limiting over
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: the next year? You know, are you expecting not a
- 1:36:07Speaker 7: big free agency next year?
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: You're talking about money wise, right, like salary cap versus cash.
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, let me.
- 1:36:12Speaker 6: Straight up, it's a legit concern because that I think
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: sort of hamstrings you to what you want to do
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: in the off seasons. And if you're going to give
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: twenty nine million to A J. Brown or something like that,
- 1:36:28Speaker 6: and you're going to give a signing bonus to Christian Gonzales,
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: that's going to be sizable. And I know, like cap wise,
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: the first year for Gonzales, the first year for May
- 1:36:37Speaker 6: next year is going to be very modest. That's how
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: these contracts are generally structured, is that, you know, the
- 1:36:45Speaker 6: bigger money he gets pushed down the road when you
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: get a chance to decide, oh, okay, well I've had
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: him for three or four years and maybe he's not
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: as good as I thought.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: You two with him.
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: Most likely A J. Brown is not going to be
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: here when you're paying both of those guys the maximums
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: of their contracts, like like we're talking about three years
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: from now at the minimum. But from a cash perspective,
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: it's a fair point if but you're also like this scenario,
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: like your team should win the Super Bowl, right right?
- 1:37:12Speaker 7: No, I mean it's I think for me too. It
- 1:37:15Speaker 7: puts it just a little more focused on guys like
- 1:37:17Speaker 7: Kyle Williams. You know, are you gonna this year? You know,
- 1:37:19Speaker 7: let's say you get AJ Brown, he tails off at
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: the end. You don't feel like that's going in the
- 1:37:23Speaker 7: right direction. You'd love to turn to Kyle Williams and
- 1:37:26Speaker 7: have you know, a potential guy on the roster is
- 1:37:27Speaker 7: probably a couple different positions, you feel, especially with the
- 1:37:30Speaker 7: rookie class, you know that.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like the Kyle Williams thing is like,
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: if you're gonna pay AJ Brown and you're gonna pay
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: Christian Zales and you're eventually going to pay Drake May,
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: you can't also pay Kaishan Boody.
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't also pay.
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: Kaishan Boody and Matt Collins and to Mario Douglas and
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: go right down the line. So the guys that you
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: drafted at wide receiver like Kyle Williams on a rookie
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: contract still like you're going to have to that's your depth,
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: Like that's going to now be either your depth. You're
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: not going to be able to pay a J. Brown,
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: Romeo Dobbs, Kaishan Boody, Collins, like you're not going to
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: do that. Yeah, So some of these receivers that you drafted,
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: Kyle Williams, you know, maybe it's an afton Chisholm as
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: an undrafted guy like those are going going to now
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: be your back endo the roster player Henry.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Free agents year.
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: That's one that's a good spot to focus on, Mike,
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: if your concern comes through. So you give a big
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: signing bonus to Gonzales, You're paying guaranteed money to AJ
- 1:38:24Speaker 6: Brown and you're gonna give a big signing bonus at
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: least to May next year, and then you end up
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: having to lose Mac Collins and to Mario Douglas and
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: even let's just say Kyle Williams is sort of ready
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: to replace a J.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: Brown. Okay, what's perfect scenario. Yep, you know, so.
- 1:38:44Speaker 6: Two years Brown's gone, Hollins is gone, Douglas is gone,
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: You left with Kyle Williams and left, and Chisholm, you know,
- 1:38:51Speaker 6: Booty's gone because he didn't I'm assuming he's gonna be
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: gone this year. So you can't just say, well, we
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: got a draft a wide receiver in Round one. Yeah,
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: you probably do, but you're also going to have to
- 1:39:01Speaker 6: augment that with some veteran you know, Dobbs will be
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: here and Kyle Williams will be here. Do you need
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: to have you need to sign somebody else to help
- 1:39:10Speaker 6: that group out. That costs money. It just costs you
- 1:39:14Speaker 6: a good chunk of money to get Dobbs in the
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: first place. Two years from now, that number is going
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: to be that much higher if you're you know this again,
- 1:39:22Speaker 6: I don't have any respect for the cap, but I
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: do respect the almighty dollar cash matters to everybody.
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: I mean, this is exactly what's happening in Kansas City,
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: exactly kind of what's happening in Buffalo is they're paying
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: the quarterback. So in their mind, the quarterback should be
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: raising the tie like it's you know, it's on Patrick
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: Mahomes to make Taekwon Thorton and Rashid Rice and you know,
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: Travis Kelcey at this stage of his career and he's
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: got to make that work. And because he's the guy
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: that's making fifty plus million dollars a year to make
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: it happen. And so for the next two or three years,
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: when you have Drake May on his rookie contract, this
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: is when to make the aj Brown trade. This is
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: when and you can sign Milton Williams at the top
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: of the market. This is your time to spend some money.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: But once it comes back around and Drake May is
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: the highest paid player on your team, You're not going
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: to spend the money like that anymore.
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: Giorgio says, I'm in the Navy. Thank you for your service,
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: and I've been stationed overseas in Italy for the past
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: few years. I'm down in Sicily or else I would
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: have tried to run into Paul during his Italy trip. Anyway,
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: I saw that the tickets to the International Games went
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: on sale at ten am today. I logged in to
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: buy tickets only four hours later and saw that it
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: was already almost sold out. I bought tickets on what
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: seems to be the second level around midfield. My only
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: other option was the end zone seats, which also included
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: access to the lounge and were cheaper than the midfield
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: once however, I think midfield gives a better view of
- 1:40:46Speaker 5: the game and then than end zone seats.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: Hope to get your guys thoughts on the matter and
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: any other advice you could give for the whole trip.
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: Love all the content you put out, Well, that's great
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: that you got tickets. I would say mid midfield, midfield
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: better absolutely, And if you're in second level, you're not
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: that high up, so it sounds like you.
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: Got reallyich now we're talking about yep.
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: So my advice though, was keeping keep alert with what's
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: going on on patriots dot com and and uh Patriot's
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: social because as we get close to the game, we'll
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: probably announce things for fans to show up to Thursday, Friday,
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: Saturday leading into the game, so uh, just keep an eye.
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: Out for that.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: I know that we actually started planning that stuff today
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: eating just before.
- 1:41:35Speaker 16: I got here.
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: Well that you can meet Fred, but really the people go. Yeah,
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: he was the MC for the one in London. He
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: was up there.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: I'll have my Munich jersey. Fantastic. It'll make Brian Morey
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: go and be the m C of those things anymore.
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: No, it was such a it was such a good
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: party that I think didn't didn't mister Craft come twice
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: that one, the one in London.
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: And the one in London.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: It was so came back and then he called me
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: said should I come back again? Like I most of
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: people have left. Yeah, no, he was really taken by
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: the reception he got.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: From the crowd.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: It was a banger.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: I mean that was great.
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: That party was that was wild. The bar was two
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: floors and like it was packed.
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: It was packed.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds fun to see having fun.
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: By a drink the whole night.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: Wasn't that Like, wasn't that memorable? Yeah?
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah?
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: And didn't you feel bad that we lost the game?
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Yes, the fans we also lost the game by getting
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: run on seventeen straight times, right, it was it was, yeah,
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: like I really do. I'm with you. I hope that
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: that we win one uh in Munich this year for
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: the for the fonds, because those those fans are uh.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: It was so refreshing to like be there when they
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: were not good and the fans could not have been
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: more excited just to see the Patriots in person. And
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: it had nothing to do with the fact that they
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: were probably like three and ten at the time or whatever.
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: And then here and rightfully so, but here, the negativity
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: around the team was just so all over the place
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: that it was kind of like a refreshing just respite
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: from that that we you were around people that just
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: love football and just wanted to be there and we're
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: happy to be there.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: I love you well.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: But now but now we're going back as a team
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: that was just in the super Bowl and like is
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: on the right swing and like hopefully it reflects that
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: one they beat their line.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Last two was the lost of Jacksonville and that one
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: and then the indie one in Germany.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: Literally the end of the Mac Jones Bill Belichick thing.
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: We used to win on the international games all the time,
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: some brutal ones.
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: But the party in London the night before the game
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: was it was a banger certified.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: The first time we went to London. That was a
- 1:43:50Speaker 6: memorable party. That was a lot of fun. That sports bars,
- 1:43:54Speaker 6: a sports like oh sky sports zone something like that.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: There was like a night was like Evan's.
- 1:43:59Speaker 6: Talking about people everywhere, Andy Hart hanging out inside the
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: red velvet ropes. Every time we needed a beer, He's like,
- 1:44:06Speaker 6: go go, go take a lot. That was why can't
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: you go interact with everybody?
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: That was wild And we.
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: Had this the stage and everybody singing. Zolac was up
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: there and oh it was wild. We were charging I
- 1:44:21Speaker 5: think five bucks or five pounds of person to get
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: in and it was all cash.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: How many quid is that?
- 1:44:28Speaker 13: So?
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: And the place was packed. At the end of the night,
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: I had to take all the money and take it
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: back with me to the hotel. I couldn't get you know,
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: a cab or whatever they call it there. And so
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: here I am walking from this place to where our
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: hotel was, which is at least a mile and a
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: half away, my pockets literally bulging out. I probably had
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: over over five thousand pounds on me. And if anyone
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: knew that, I would have been a dead man, you know.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: I could have gone to the click, could have just
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: taken it from you. I don't think they necessarily how
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: to kill you.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: I wasn't going to just give it to them. I
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: would have put up a fight. They would have subdued you,
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: they would have they would have wrestled them. I would, right.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: I mean, there's like people when we were walking in
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: that were like asking me if I could like get
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: them in because the line was like so far down there, and.
- 1:45:21Speaker 21: I get yeah, the armies out there, like the army
- 1:45:26Speaker 21: is here. Literally it was like the biggest fan evan
- 1:45:31Speaker 21: it was.
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: I was with the army.
- 1:45:34Speaker 10: I was.
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: And and huge he couldnt. Neil could not have been
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: more frustrated that I was getting like recognized. He's like,
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: oh god, come on, and he was so merry.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Drinks, Get yourself a drink. I told you, did you
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: bring both with the West bath?
- 1:45:52Speaker 16: No?
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: I got that.
- 1:45:53Speaker 6: A lot of the nowhere dressed suld have been within
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: this building, the people that we worked with every day.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, Oh it's funny.
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: He was so mad. He has a come on. Really,
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: I was like, hey man, we got fans. What can
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: I say?
- 1:46:08Speaker 8: Uh?
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: David and Louisville.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: I've been a loyal listener since two thousand. Wow, thank you,
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: thank you.
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: I've never emailed or called the show, but have likely
- 1:46:16Speaker 5: missed only a handful of episodes over the years. I
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: got to tell you, Paul was sneaky good on Tuesday.
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: Some of the best content is subtle, but a keen
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: ear can pick up hilarious asides. In the first half
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: of the show, while talking about the off season program,
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: Paul slipped in a Spacoli isn't.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: It our time?
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: Reference, followed in the second half with a Ferris Bueller
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: they all think he's a righteous dude reference. While talking
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: about high school clicks, neither reference was even acknowledged by
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: the rest of us.
- 1:46:45Speaker 6: We're so used, so hold on, yeah, I need to
- 1:46:48Speaker 6: defend Mike.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: I need to Mike you.
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: So right here, Mike and I played the two man
- 1:46:53Speaker 6: game very well and we set both of those up intentionally, So.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: Mike absolutely knew what was going on. But we hear them.
- 1:47:01Speaker 6: But it's so you guys put me under paint on mind.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:47:05Speaker 6: This is some text to pe you, like if you
- 1:47:07Speaker 6: got to listen a little, you know, absolutely in on
- 1:47:10Speaker 6: that he set me up both times for.
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: If they think he's a righteous dude.
- 1:47:17Speaker 6: You said that the dweeds the wasteis.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: You said all that, and I said, they think.
- 1:47:22Speaker 7: That that makes me happier when I come up with
- 1:47:23Speaker 7: like a movie reference that I know Paul will get
- 1:47:25Speaker 7: and I can you know, yeah, subtly.
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: So those scraps were strictly for listeners with discerning taste
- 1:47:30Speaker 5: of meaningless pop culture. Not sure if it was the
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: extra bowls of pasca pasta in Italy that's given him
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: his energy.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: Or what, But keep it up good, Paul.
- 1:47:41Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, well, every once in a while, I do
- 1:47:43Speaker 6: have fun with the pop culture stuff. And if you
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: want more of that the comic stylans of PP and
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: the Deuce. Tune into the pre and post game show
- 1:47:51Speaker 6: because there's a lot of that going on on those show.
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: More Paul praise. Pat says Paul, I just get you, bro.
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: Two things.
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: The last show that I couldn't agree more with was
- 1:48:03Speaker 5: your take on Dodd Schula being one of the most
- 1:48:05Speaker 5: overrated head coaches.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: In NFL history.
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: One play Well in Peoria, Yeah.
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: And Michael Keaton as Bill Bljowski in Night Shift was
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: pure gold. Two of his movies from that area, you
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: guys left out that I thought this Michael Keaton were
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: pretty terrific. Comedies are The Dream Team, which bos a
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: great cast and one of my personal favorites Johnny Dangerously.
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: Oh, Johnny Dangerously terrific battle mission on my part, Oh,
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: that's them both very well.
- 1:48:31Speaker 7: The only thing I think there's one I remember very
- 1:48:35Speaker 7: little of that movie, but the one thing that always
- 1:48:37Speaker 7: stuck with me was like they're going through a tunnel
- 1:48:39Speaker 7: and he was like, you know, if any one of
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: those tiles comes down, you know, the whole oceans coming through,
- 1:48:43Speaker 7: And I just like one of those throwaway lines in
- 1:48:45Speaker 7: a movie. Now, like every time I go through a tunnel,
- 1:48:47Speaker 7: Like I just always like going to Logan Airport. I
- 1:48:49Speaker 7: always like that, always popping head.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: But Johnny Dangerously is Dangerously once. Yea terrific movie. Roman
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: Maron another one though. I feel like that was when
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: we all got cable. It was in the HBO cycle
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: and so we all watched it a thousand times.
- 1:49:03Speaker 7: And so, like you know, when I was on the
- 1:49:05Speaker 7: show with you and Hardy, like all of a sudden
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: we just had this like communication of eighties movies, Like.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Does that exist anymore? Like the kids these generations, like
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: my kids don't really watch movies. They're not watching movies
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: over them, they don't watch them over again. Like there's
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: no quote, Like how much like our generation you like
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: quote movies do each other. It's like a way of
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: communicating me with.
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: A lot of mine, we do that, but like obviously
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: not with the eighties movieses. Like I think that probably
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: the most quoted movie, uh for my friend group is Stepbrothers,
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: which like we'll just like constantly say things from that
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: movie back and forth. I think that's good, but that
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: that's not I don't know what, like almost twenty years old. Yeah,
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: like Stepbrothers, Super Bad, Anchorman like.
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: Was funny, you know, like stuff like that.
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: Anchorman is a movie that I that I quote a lot, like.
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: Yeah like that, Oh yeah yeah. But I don't know
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: if that's happened. So that's what sex there's the best.
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: I don't know if that happens with the modern like
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: the gen alpha kids. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: It's all you know, tiktoks and short form videos. Yeah,
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: I don't know, it's just different Tyler and Ludlow. I
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: wrote that only quotes the science fiction movies. I don't
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: remember the quotes. Godfather is like the only one. Oh,
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: that's true, that's one that's quoted.
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: I wrote in last Thursday and sparked the documentary discussion
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: and wanted to throw my hat in the ring on
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: who I think would be great for this project in
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: terms of casting. Fred Jason Bateman, Paul Michael Rappaport, Deuce,
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: Paul Rudd, Evan, Jesse Eisenberg, Alex Jenna Ortega, Marine, Matt
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: Liam Neeson.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: That's a good one.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: Takings another quotable one.
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: MLB Brie Larson, Okay, I can see it. Eric, Chris Gethard,
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: Chris Gethard, Who's Chris Gethard?
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: I don't know who that is.
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: And Andy Channing Tatum just kidding. Jack Black Black would
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: be a good Andy.
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't really see you and Michael Rappaport making
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: so yeah, I don't.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I don't love it, not gonna lie.
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: Michael rapp report doesn't look anything like you.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Well, we're going looks. That's a tough one. I mean,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: it's like there's only so many Leonardo DiCaprio's nice.
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: I think it's established. My girlfriend thought I looked like
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: Rob Low.
- 1:51:20Speaker 6: I don't know how many more times I can say
- 1:51:21Speaker 6: it on the show before someone says, Paul.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: You're out of your mind.
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: Anthony and Seattle. Evan, I'm sorry. I love you.
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: I don't mean to call you out, but I must
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: correct something you said on the show. Evan seems to
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: be under the impression that the Eagles went to back
- 1:51:37Speaker 5: to back Super Bowls. He has said on an episode
- 1:51:40Speaker 5: of PU that the Eagles lost the Super Bowl and
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: went back the next year and won it. I was
- 1:51:44Speaker 5: surprised no one corrected him at the time, but I
- 1:51:46Speaker 5: let it go. Was there a year in between them?
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: Yes, and then yesterday?
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: I did not correct it, and then yesterday on Cash
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: twenty two, he said that Milton Williams has been to
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: three straight Super Bowls.
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: So now it's one of those small things that's really
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: bothering me.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: I'm really sorry that Evan is unique.
- 1:52:04Speaker 7: I feel like we get it's not a lot, but
- 1:52:07Speaker 7: there is certainly a genre of emails of people apologizingly
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: calling in to correct Evan on something.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: I feel like it.
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: I think he jump.
- 1:52:18Speaker 6: I feel that's falid in the second somebody gets going
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: like best guy ever, right there, Evan, that's true, but.
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: That's kind of a compliment because he puts forth his
- 1:52:29Speaker 5: statements with a lot of count.
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, that's totally Somebody finds a crack like that.
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: Yeah no, that's totally valid, and then exactly that's it,
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: and there I will actually it was actually three and
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: four years or whatever.
- 1:52:42Speaker 7: But it's always like it's not like you messed up
- 1:52:44Speaker 7: something like significantly that changes what you were trying to Like,
- 1:52:47Speaker 7: it's just like a minute detail that they catch you
- 1:52:50Speaker 7: on it.
- 1:52:50Speaker 3: Like, yeah, sorry, I forgot which ones were the Eagles
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: chief super Bowl orders?
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: Yeah no, but I I actually should have picked up
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: on that because I was making the comment about I
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: think the Super Bowl loser thing is real. I think
- 1:53:05Speaker 6: that has impacted a lot of teams over the years.
- 1:53:10Speaker 6: I think it even impacted the Patriots at times. Now,
- 1:53:13Speaker 6: they won in eighteen after losing in seventeen, right, I
- 1:53:16Speaker 6: get that, right, that's correct, So it was not not one.
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: Hundred percent, but I do think that's valid.
- 1:53:23Speaker 6: And then when when Evan used the Eagles, I should
- 1:53:26Speaker 6: have said, well, no, actually they had a huge drop
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: off and they were kind of a mess. They got
- 1:53:32Speaker 6: a really good start the following year after losing to
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: Kansas City. Then they lost like their last five or
- 1:53:38Speaker 6: six games in a row or something got blown out
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: by Tampa Bay in the playoffs in between.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: So that's that's on me. I missed that.
- 1:53:45Speaker 7: I kind of feel that though, Like the thought definitely
- 1:53:48Speaker 7: hit me when we were at the Super Bowl. It
- 1:53:50Speaker 7: was the end of the game and we were kind
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: of walking out of the stadium and it was like,
- 1:53:52Speaker 7: and I I think I heard somebody saying, it's like
- 1:53:55Speaker 7: everything you do is now just to get back to
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: this point and make a few more plays, and like
- 1:54:00Speaker 7: just thinking about again going back to what I said
- 1:54:02Speaker 7: of just what a grind it is to get through
- 1:54:03Speaker 7: the playoffs, and like I kind of understand it a
- 1:54:06Speaker 7: little bit better now of like it's it's a lot
- 1:54:08Speaker 7: to be, like we got to go through all that
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: again just to maybe change ten plays, you know at
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: the end.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: You know, I don't know, maybe more.
- 1:54:14Speaker 6: But I never really thought of it about me, like
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: we got to go through all that again.
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: Well, just put yourself you talk about it in a way,
- 1:54:24Speaker 5: like think about it, Like I didn't play a lot
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: of video games when I was growing up, but I
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: watched my son and he played those types of games
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: where you get to a certain point.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: If you screw up, you got to go back to
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: the beginning. But you know all the things to do
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: to get back.
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: To that other point again, you know, you know all
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: the tricks this y I just enabled added Saquon, which
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: like took them the first time they went to the
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: Super Bowl, they didn't have Saquon, and then they added
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: Saquon and that took them to that. I don't think
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: the overall point, even though I might have messed up
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: the years, that overall, the overall point, I don't think
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: really changes. Like the Eagles lost to Super Bowl, had
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: to get happier and then got back and won it. Yeah,
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: and Jalen Hurts is I think the first one since
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: l Way to lose the Super Bowl and then come
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: back and go back and win it.
- 1:55:09Speaker 7: But I think it's It's a good example though, of
- 1:55:11Speaker 7: saying you kind of need to change and you know, Barkley,
- 1:55:14Speaker 7: like if you acquire a J. Brown, that's that kind
- 1:55:17Speaker 7: of change the equation and be a different team this time.
- 1:55:20Speaker 7: Don't try to run it back with the same team
- 1:55:22Speaker 7: and do the same thing.
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: Doctor Alec Thornton from Berlin, right sin about quick Quicksand.
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: I'm fifty seven now, and so far I've somehow managed
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: to avoid the dual threat of quicksand and the Bermuda triangle.
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: I consider myself quite lucky, as I have spent most
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: of my working life as a geographer traveling to places
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: where quicksand exists, or so I was led to believe
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: this was all factual, or so I thought based on
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: episodes of six Million Dollar Man Gilligan's Island gets Smart.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: The lone ranger in the classic film Blazing Saddles, So
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: he doesn't tell me whether he thinks it's it does exist?
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: I know it does You ever see Blazing Saddle? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: I don't know is still on TV.
- 1:56:03Speaker 6: I don't know what that well, well, it's kind of satires,
- 1:56:07Speaker 6: satire right over some people's heads.
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, it was pretty racist, It's like, but it
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: was actually watching bro I mean, mel Brooks did a
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: play about Hitler, you know, like, you know, so he's Jewish.
- 1:56:22Speaker 5: I think, so you can get away with it. So
- 1:56:26Speaker 5: we're getting to the end here, so we're a little
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: off the rails. But Chris writes in my favorite quote
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: from a movie comes from the Jerk. Whenever I am
- 1:56:35Speaker 5: any place and over here someone mentions special purpose, I'll
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: pop out, I've got a special purpose and keep walking
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: while giggling to myself.
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: That's good. That's a good one, like the Jerk. Yeah,
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know the Jerk.
- 1:56:50Speaker 6: I know the movie, I know what it is, I
- 1:56:52Speaker 6: just don't My dad has talked about that one.
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: It's a special purpose, is talking about his private I'm
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: gonna purpose.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: Oh, like thick they're shooting at these cans.
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:57:05Speaker 5: That's going to be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: I hope everyone has a good weekend. Anything going on
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: that we need to know about.
- 1:57:15Speaker 6: So you should probably let everybody know. We have an

- 1:57:29Speaker 5: So Tuesday's show late start to thirty Eastern time, right
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: from the practice, so we'll have immediate reaction from.
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: The second OTA that we've had.
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: Uh, you know, and just because we have had access
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: to that OTA doesn't mean they haven't been out there.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: So let's see what they've done in a week. So
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: that'll be on Tuesday, and then.
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: Cash twenty two back on Wednesday at noon.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: Yeah, regular time. Yes.
