- 0:04Speaker 1: Weary.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Wait being gangsters, war lords, monstrous, They're coming for us.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Are you scared? You should be.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Right now.
- 1:11Speaker 2: The Mandalorian and Grogu.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hello everyone, and welcome to the Culture Cast and the
- 1:14Speaker 1: Projection Booth. Another crossover. It's a new movie crossover. That's
- 1:18Speaker 1: the only time Mike and I ever talked outside of
- 1:20Speaker 1: Mike White. May I am one of your hosts. Christashue
- 1:23Speaker 1: of the Culture Cast.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Check out these abs, Chris. I've been working out for eons,
- 1:28Speaker 2: me and my big slug body.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And in the role of Rota the Hut. Mike White
- 1:33Speaker 1: of the Projection.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Both glad to be here. Chris. Thank you for agreeing
- 1:37Speaker 2: to do this so I can actually talk about the
- 1:39Speaker 2: Mandalorian Grogu with someone who's not a nerd.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I was about to say, I think yeah, No, I
- 1:45Speaker 1: was to say, what are you thanking me for?
- 1:46Speaker 3: This was your idea.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I was not gonna watch this movie. I had checked
- 1:51Speaker 1: out of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Frankly, I had checked
- 1:54Speaker 1: out of Star Wars about the same time Mandalorian in
- 1:57Speaker 1: the Mandalorian the TV show came in, So this would
- 2:00Speaker 1: have been like one of the few Star Wars things
- 2:02Speaker 1: that would still get me to the theaters as it
- 2:03Speaker 1: were to watch it. But on this episode of the
- 2:06Speaker 1: Projection Booth Slash the Culture cast we are going to
- 2:08Speaker 1: be talking about. Twenty twenty six is John Favreau directed
- 2:12Speaker 1: feature length film question Mark, The Mandalorian and grogu. So
- 2:16Speaker 1: the film is written and well, it's written by Jon Favreau,
- 2:20Speaker 1: Dave Filonian, Noah Klore and it's directed by John Favreau
- 2:23Speaker 1: as well. Stars Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian. Well Latif
- 2:27Speaker 1: Crowder probably more importantly as the Mandalorian. Pedro Pascal does
- 2:31Speaker 1: the voice. Jeremy Allen White's also in the film as
- 2:34Speaker 1: a giant slug. We also have Brendan Wayn and like
- 2:37Speaker 1: I mentioned, Latif Crowder playing the Mandalorian in the suit anyways,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Johnny quaint Any.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Pleased during the stunts. There's also Brendan Wayne who also
- 2:45Speaker 2: is in the suit.
- 2:46Speaker 3: That's true.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And then we have Martin Scorsese, who you know they
- 2:50Speaker 1: I don't know what they did to get him in this,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and Sigourney Weaver's there. Because everything comes to full circle
- 2:55Speaker 1: of the world of sci fi, doesn't it.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Mike.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I'm so curious because you wanted to talk about this film,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and I'm never going to say no to an opportunity
- 3:02Speaker 1: to talk about films with you. Why why the Mandalorian
- 3:05Speaker 1: and Grogu? Why why did we spend our hardened Republic
- 3:09Speaker 1: credits to go see The Mandalorian and Grogu?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Well, because I think The Mandalorian is probably one of
- 3:15Speaker 2: the least offensive of the Star Wars properties that they've
- 3:18Speaker 2: had over the last five six years. I'm trying to
- 3:21Speaker 2: remember when it first came out. Was that twenty nineteen, right.
- 3:24Speaker 3: It was a little pre pandemic, Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Okay, and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was
- 3:30Speaker 2: very well done, at least the first two seasons. I
- 3:33Speaker 2: really enjoyed third season definitely the Law of Diminishing Returns.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And also there was a couple episodes hidden within Book
- 3:45Speaker 2: of Boba Fet. Those were the best episodes of the
- 3:48Speaker 2: Book of Boba Fet. I like this idea of this
- 3:51Speaker 2: kind of western in space, which the original Star Wars
- 3:56Speaker 2: seemed to really play with. I mean, westerns and Samurai
- 3:59Speaker 2: film are very similar. I mean, look at fistful of
- 4:02Speaker 2: Dollars in Yo Jimbo. But really that whole idea of
- 4:05Speaker 2: the stranger coming to town kind of thing is just yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 2: it's a trope, but it really plays out well in
- 4:12Speaker 2: both of those genres, and this kind of sci fi
- 4:15Speaker 2: version of that that was very well done. I mean,
- 4:18Speaker 2: the whole idea of the Mandalorian and his ward Grogu.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It's Lone Wolf and Cub. So I love Lone Wolf
- 4:27Speaker 2: and Cub and all of the adventures that Ogami Eto
- 4:30Speaker 2: and Daggo get into. This was somewhat similar. And yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I just enjoyed the TV show and then yeah, I
- 4:40Speaker 2: figured why not. And plus I was definitely going to
- 4:43Speaker 2: go see The Mandalorian and Grogu because I would watch
- 4:46Speaker 2: The Mandalorian sometimes with my oldest granddaughter. She was very
- 4:51Speaker 2: into Grogu, and so when the movie was coming out,
- 4:54Speaker 2: I said, let's go see it. So it was the
- 4:56Speaker 2: first Star Wars movie that I got to take her
- 5:00Speaker 2: to the theater and see, because I don't think she
- 5:03Speaker 2: saw any of the sequels, prequels, Rogue One Solo, any
- 5:08Speaker 2: of that stuff, so this was her first exposure. Thought
- 5:11Speaker 2: it was a nice, non offensive way to get into
- 5:16Speaker 2: Star Wars. But I'm curious, Chris, what did you think
- 5:19Speaker 2: of the Mandalorian then grow good?
- 5:20Speaker 1: So I watched the first and second season The Mandalorian
- 5:25Speaker 1: I checked out when it was like and now Luke
- 5:27Speaker 1: Skywalker's here.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I was like, oh, man, like that was rough. I'm good.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And that was the end of the second season, so
- 5:33Speaker 1: I was just like, I'm good. I don't think I
- 5:35Speaker 1: need to continue on with this story anymore of this
- 5:37Speaker 1: is where we're headed. And then never watched Book a
- 5:39Speaker 1: Boba fet kind of again, have not watched a lot
- 5:42Speaker 1: of the animated stuff either, where I know one of
- 5:44Speaker 1: the characters in this film comes from Several of the
- 5:47Speaker 1: characters in this film come from from the animated source material.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I guess Clone Wars and Rebels, I'm assuming, and I
- 5:55Speaker 1: got me there.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Cards on the table. I never watched any of those either.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I've done like base amount of Wookie PDIA research, you know.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, a lot of these characters are coming
- 6:07Speaker 2: out of the Ralph mcquarie drawings. So there's the I
- 6:10Speaker 2: guess he's blue and looks like a werewolf. And I
- 6:13Speaker 2: know that was the original draft of Chewbacca all those
- 6:17Speaker 2: years ago, right, I know he was probably in one
- 6:21Speaker 2: of those.
- 6:21Speaker 1: He's the one from rep He's the one from Rebels. Okay, yes,
- 6:26Speaker 1: zeb Is from Rebels.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, right, and then I think he showed up in
- 6:29Speaker 2: one episode of The Mandalorian and don't ask me which season,
- 6:33Speaker 2: because I don't remember.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I think you're right as well, which I mean again
- 6:38Speaker 1: like it's fun to tie those things in, because for me,
- 6:42Speaker 1: Mandalorian and Grogu, I think is the perfect film that
- 6:44Speaker 1: you talked about just now, A perfect film for an
- 6:47Speaker 1: adult my age or your age to take a child
- 6:50Speaker 1: fifteen or younger. I think it's a perfect film for that.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Beyond beyond that, I think there's a lot of questions
- 6:56Speaker 1: that we have about the reason to make Star Wars
- 7:00Speaker 1: movies anymore. There's an interesting discussion to be had there
- 7:03Speaker 1: that I'm sure we'll talk about that has more or
- 7:05Speaker 1: less not very little to do with the film, but
- 7:07Speaker 1: it's part of this discussion I think about Star Wars
- 7:09Speaker 1: in general, and it always comes up whenever we talk
- 7:11Speaker 1: about Star Wars because we don't talk about Star Wars
- 7:13Speaker 1: that much. I'm not that big of a fan of
- 7:15Speaker 1: Star Wars anymore. I was when I was a kid.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I loved Star Wars. I was there with everybody else
- 7:21Speaker 1: my age seeing those remastered films. I went completely ape
- 7:24Speaker 1: shit for Phantom Menace. I am one of those people
- 7:27Speaker 1: that will actually go out on a limb and say
- 7:29Speaker 1: that I think the prequels are slightly better than those
- 7:32Speaker 1: sequel film because again, I at least they were made
- 7:35Speaker 1: by George Lucas for good and for bad, and they
- 7:38Speaker 1: weren't made by a committee of people who don't know
- 7:42Speaker 1: just those other days. Again, we go back to the George.
- 7:45Speaker 1: George Lucas never would have had Palpatine come back to life,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and especially not in Fortnite of it All. So I've
- 7:52Speaker 1: kind of fallen out with Star Wars. But for me,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I think the thing that I will say about this
- 7:57Speaker 1: movie specifically, it's perfectly fine as an episode of the
- 8:01Speaker 1: Mandalorian and Grogu the show. Like it's just a it's
- 8:05Speaker 1: like a feature length episode. They literally do nothing to
- 8:08Speaker 1: make it anything less than that. And you know what,
- 8:11Speaker 1: if you go looking for a film about the Mandalorian
- 8:13Speaker 1: and Grogu and their continued adventures, this more or less
- 8:17Speaker 1: checks all the boxes. So I'm not upset. I'm just
- 8:20Speaker 1: I don't know if this needed to be a movie.
- 8:22Speaker 1: That's more my takeaway. I enjoyed it, I just don't
- 8:25Speaker 1: know how much I needed this to be a movie,
- 8:26Speaker 1: because it does just feel like I'm not saying you
- 8:28Speaker 1: could have put it on Disney Plus much. You could
- 8:30Speaker 1: have put it on Disney Plus.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Like, I don't know.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I enjoyed it though. It's fine. It's perfectly serviceable as
- 8:36Speaker 1: a Star Wars movie, and frankly, in a lot of ways,
- 8:39Speaker 1: it's better than some of the other Star Wars movies
- 8:42Speaker 1: that aren't Skywalker movies that we've gotten. Namely, I would
- 8:45Speaker 1: say that this is better than Solo. I would say
- 8:48Speaker 1: that this has more charm than Rogue One.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Oh, it doesn't take much to have more charm than
- 8:54Speaker 2: Rogue one, just not at least there's no reanimated corpses
- 8:58Speaker 2: in this one, so.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Far as or Luke Skywalker cameos. Of these, I'm CGI cameos.
- 9:05Speaker 1: There are no CGI cameos.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that Princess Leah one in Rogue One is rough.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Grandma f Tarken is really rough. I know some people
- 9:14Speaker 2: hold that up as this amazing thing, and I'm like, no, no,
- 9:17Speaker 2: it looks awful. It looks like someone walked out of
- 9:20Speaker 2: a video game and is there with all of these
- 9:22Speaker 2: live action actors. It was really rough. Yeah, this is
- 9:27Speaker 2: so I remember going to see the I think it
- 9:30Speaker 2: was like the maybe it was like the seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth,
- 9:35Speaker 2: maybe Star Trek films, like not First Contact, but like
- 9:39Speaker 2: all of the other ones, especially something like Insurrection, and
- 9:42Speaker 2: it's like the f Marie Abraham Well, and I'm just like, okay,
- 9:47Speaker 2: well this was it wasn't good, but it was. It
- 9:50Speaker 2: was decent, and I was like, this is basically a
- 9:55Speaker 2: couple episodes of the show. It actually wasn't it. I
- 9:58Speaker 2: think it was Insurrection was not that Insurrection, I'm sorry,
- 10:01Speaker 2: the one where they're watching people from Afar.
- 10:04Speaker 3: That insurrection yeah.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, with that f free Abraham with the stretched
- 10:08Speaker 1: back face and they're like hiding behind like the camouflage
- 10:12Speaker 1: like towers and stuff. Yeah, has three different things going
- 10:16Speaker 1: out because remember then they have like the thing out
- 10:18Speaker 1: in space that they fight on as well, because yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but a mess, I mean everything other than First
- 10:27Speaker 2: Contact for me, all of those ones, you.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Don't like the one with young with the young young,
- 10:33Speaker 1: young young young Tom Hardy pretending to be Patrick Stewart.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Well, I thought that was the one with f.
- 10:40Speaker 1: That's that's Nemesis, that's the one that starts with like,
- 10:43Speaker 1: it seems like it's just another day at Starfleet, and
- 10:46Speaker 1: then by the end of it spoilers, data is dead.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Wow, geez, all those films.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But you know what they say, Mike, We've got nothing
- 10:54Speaker 1: but time, and we could just rewatch all those Star
- 10:56Speaker 1: Trek movies because man, okay, no, what's the Avengers?
- 11:01Speaker 3: Though, Well, you look at.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Something like that, and then you look at something like,
- 11:06Speaker 2: for me, Serenity the Firefly movie, and I'm not a
- 11:10Speaker 2: big fan. Yes I'm not a big fan of Firefly
- 11:13Speaker 2: the show, but I really like Serenity the movie, and
- 11:17Speaker 2: that takes the material and kind of elevates it. It
- 11:19Speaker 2: also feels like a really good way to end a
- 11:22Speaker 2: lot of the storylines. That also leaves room for more
- 11:25Speaker 2: if they ever come back, or if Nathan Fillion just
- 11:28Speaker 2: wants to tease us about other shit that isn't that
- 11:31Speaker 2: It's like, Okay, yeah, this was really good. Mandalorian and
- 11:34Speaker 2: Grogu for me, fits more into the Star Trek of
- 11:37Speaker 2: it than the Serenity of it, and just saying like, yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 2: this is good. This is a couple episodes worth of
- 11:45Speaker 2: the Mandalorian and Grogu. Maybe this is your season finale.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Maybe it's the way that you start off the season
- 11:52Speaker 2: two episodes, two bangers, just coming out here, bing bang,
- 11:56Speaker 2: let's do it. Okay, great, But I really feel like
- 11:59Speaker 2: they just took an entire arc of a series, of
- 12:04Speaker 2: a season and cut it down to two hours, two
- 12:08Speaker 2: hours and thirteen minutes or whatever and said, Okay, here
- 12:11Speaker 2: you go, and it kind of works for me.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:13Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, it's like, okay, well, you know, here's
- 12:17Speaker 2: this assignment. Okay, you succeeded well, but you blew up
- 12:21Speaker 2: all this stuff. Here's this other assignment, and you're gonna
- 12:23Speaker 2: go out, You're gonna, you know, pick up this guy. Oh,
- 12:26Speaker 2: things got a little complicated. I mean, it's it's very
- 12:29Speaker 2: you know, I mentioned fist full of dollars. It's very
- 12:33Speaker 2: spaghetti Western insofar as this bounty hunter going out and
- 12:37Speaker 2: getting bouties and seeing what the right thing is to do.
- 12:41Speaker 2: He could have let rot a rot all these kind
- 12:44Speaker 2: of things, but it worked. So introduced a lot of
- 12:48Speaker 2: characters that I'm not familiar with, brought back characters that
- 12:51Speaker 2: apparently other people are familiar with, brought back characters that
- 12:54Speaker 2: I'm familiar with from the TV show I was very
- 12:57Speaker 2: surprised at certain people like an Amy s Darris wasn't there.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I know, Carl Weathers isn't coming back unless they do
- 13:05Speaker 2: a horrible post life resurrection of Carl Weathers for his character.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I was actually kind of surprised that Ted Baane wasn't back.
- 13:16Speaker 2: He might have died in the show. I don't remember.
- 13:19Speaker 2: But there was one guy who, I mean, he's probably
- 13:22Speaker 2: a huge character to Star Wars fans, but the guy
- 13:25Speaker 2: who had the big disc hat very the three brothers
- 13:30Speaker 2: from Lone Wolf and Cub two. Like, I'm like, okay,
- 13:33Speaker 2: is he cad Bane. No, he's not cad Bane, but
- 13:35Speaker 2: I'm sure he's somebody, just someone. Someone loves him, someone
- 13:39Speaker 2: cared for him, took care of him, wiped his nose
- 13:42Speaker 2: when he was sick. And now he's the bad guy
- 13:45Speaker 2: in this episode and does a pretty good job, better
- 13:48Speaker 2: than the two Huts who are just kind of there
- 13:52Speaker 2: to menace and be nasty.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I do believe cad Bane was killed in the Book
- 13:57Speaker 1: of Boba.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, you could. You could tell me anything about
- 14:01Speaker 2: the Book of Bulb of Fat and as long as
- 14:03Speaker 2: you said. And then he goes back to the back
- 14:05Speaker 2: to tank, I would believe you.
- 14:07Speaker 3: I still haven't seen it.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I just I remember that was one of the things
- 14:10Speaker 1: that happened in the show that didn't help because people
- 14:13Speaker 1: seem to like that character.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I think, yeah, and again I don't know where he's from,
- 14:18Speaker 2: like he showed up or people are just like yeah,
- 14:20Speaker 2: they're like people are losing their mind, and I'm like, yeah, okay,
- 14:23Speaker 2: pretty good. Appreciate design.
- 14:25Speaker 1: To be fair, I just assume if you don't know
- 14:27Speaker 1: what it's from, it's from the cartoon, essentially, because none
- 14:30Speaker 1: of the video game stuff has ever really made it screen. Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I was gonna say, like, nothing is really every Yeah, yeah,
- 14:37Speaker 1: not really. Now, dash Rendar was ever in anything, and
- 14:39Speaker 1: he was the one that was in Shadows of the Empire. Yeah, no,
- 14:43Speaker 1: she's or no, none of those characters, like Thron is
- 14:46Speaker 1: a book character more than he is anything else. I guess,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you know, and you know, you put an athlete like
- 14:51Speaker 1: it is a episode of the show, or a season
- 14:53Speaker 1: of the show, or maybe like a half season arc
- 14:56Speaker 1: of the show boiled.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Down into a movie.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Okay, if that's the way we're gonna do it from
- 15:01Speaker 1: now on, all right, I guess, I guess. I don't
- 15:04Speaker 1: know what what is more unnecessary than any more TV
- 15:08Speaker 1: or any more movie.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I don't know if they that's the question. Yeah, it
- 15:12Speaker 2: feels like the movies are kind of superfluous at this point.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I mean because the TV show with the and I
- 15:18Speaker 2: will say the third season, I was just not a
- 15:21Speaker 2: fan of the whole thing, the whole and I forget
- 15:25Speaker 2: her name, Boctan, maybe the Katie Sackoff character. I didn't
- 15:29Speaker 2: give a shit about any of the things that she
- 15:32Speaker 2: was doing and the other people that were in her group.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I didn't give a shit about Lizzo's character or Jack Black,
- 15:39Speaker 2: Like none of those stories really compelled me.
- 15:43Speaker 3: What I forgot about that Mike Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Just it wasn't gripping me at all. And it really
- 15:49Speaker 2: felt like it kind of became the Boca Tan Show.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And I'm like, no, I signed up for Mandalorin and Grogu.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I didn't sign up for Boc Tan. It was kind
- 15:58Speaker 2: of like when they sprung Luke Skywalker on us for
- 16:02Speaker 2: the end of one of the seasons. I was like,
- 16:05Speaker 2: I don't need Skywalker in this. I just want the
- 16:08Speaker 2: Mandalorian and Grogu and their adventures. Maybe occasionally we can
- 16:13Speaker 2: go off and meet some other people, and yeah, Bok
- 16:16Speaker 2: Tank can show up and do her thing and whatever.
- 16:18Speaker 2: But I don't need a whole fucking season of that, Like,
- 16:21Speaker 2: I'm just done with that. I just want these two
- 16:24Speaker 2: characters and their adventures, please.
- 16:26Speaker 1: And I guess for me, that's the thing about the
- 16:28Speaker 1: movie that it succeeds at the most is that it's
- 16:31Speaker 1: a Mandalorian in Grogu Store, yes, more or less all
- 16:35Speaker 1: the way through. Like, I didn't watch the third season
- 16:37Speaker 1: of The Mandalorian, so maybe you can fill me in
- 16:39Speaker 1: on this how much agency Grogu now has as a character, Like,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Grogu has a fair amount of agency as a character.
- 16:45Speaker 1: He's not just a little baby anymore. He's running around
- 16:49Speaker 1: doing things. You know, he saves Rod of the Hut
- 16:52Speaker 1: at the end of the movie. You know, this is
- 16:54Speaker 1: a This is a character with a lot more agency
- 16:56Speaker 1: than the last time I saw him, I think, correct
- 16:58Speaker 1: me if I'm wrong. The end of the first season
- 17:00Speaker 1: him kind of having that agency a little bit more
- 17:02Speaker 1: where he stops the laser bolts with Carl Weathers, right, Like,
- 17:06Speaker 1: you know, that's I enjoyed that this movie is as advertised.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Maybe a little too much, maybe a little too cutesy
- 17:13Speaker 1: and for kids, but at the same time, like Mandalorian
- 17:15Speaker 1: and Grogu.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Is for kids.
- 17:17Speaker 1: It's the it is I think the ultimate bridge to
- 17:20Speaker 1: Star Wars. It is like the Settlers of Katan of
- 17:23Speaker 1: movies for Star Wars. Like, this is what you would
- 17:25Speaker 1: show your kids if you had kids, or if I
- 17:27Speaker 1: had kids. You have grandkids, so there you go, Like
- 17:30Speaker 1: it's a part like you wouldn't show them the prequels anymore.
- 17:33Speaker 1: You would show them this. You would show them because
- 17:35Speaker 1: Grogu is just they wouldn't care what the Mandalorian is
- 17:38Speaker 1: doing as long as Grogu is in every scene or
- 17:41Speaker 1: every other scene, because duh, it's Grogu and he's adorable.
- 17:44Speaker 1: And that's the thing. It's like they they're still getting
- 17:47Speaker 1: a lot of mileage out of Grogu, even with someone
- 17:49Speaker 1: who's as cynical as I am. And we joked about it,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know when this when Grogu first came a thing,
- 17:54Speaker 1: like I love Grogu just as much as anybody. I'm like,
- 17:57Speaker 1: kind of again, like anything else, it's like almost like Mindians. Now,
- 18:00Speaker 1: it's like Grogu was minionized in a way, and so
- 18:03Speaker 1: I've kind of fallen off on Grogu, but I found
- 18:06Speaker 1: myself reacting the way they wanted me to during the
- 18:08Speaker 1: movie when Grogu was doing things, so like even someone
- 18:11Speaker 1: who's the Cynicals meet can come back around on Grogu,
- 18:14Speaker 1: like I see the value. I see what they're doing.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It's obvious, it's very obvious.
- 18:19Speaker 3: And it's work.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I don't know if this movie's been imminently as financially
- 18:22Speaker 1: successful for them as they would like. But also looking
- 18:25Speaker 1: at the budget of this movie, I'm surprised it costs
- 18:27Speaker 1: that much because the CGI in this movie is not good.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It's Disney movie.
- 18:33Speaker 2: My god, Yeah, what did you not like about the CGI?
- 18:36Speaker 1: I was not a fan of the way that the
- 18:39Speaker 1: huts look okay, which I think is fair right, oh yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Yeah, well they're not using puppets anymore. Really seemed to
- 18:46Speaker 2: take me to when George was throwing Jaba into Star
- 18:51Speaker 2: Wars a new hope and just again completely unnecessary, especially
- 18:56Speaker 2: since all of their dialogue is basically repeeded in another scene,
- 19:02Speaker 2: and that kind of reminded me of this film. There
- 19:05Speaker 2: are two early scenes with Rod of the Hut and
- 19:09Speaker 2: like we have Mando come in and Grogu's there and
- 19:14Speaker 2: he's talking with Ratta and Rather's just like, you know what,
- 19:16Speaker 2: I'm good. I you know, I'm always under the shadow
- 19:20Speaker 2: of my father and and this is really giving me
- 19:26Speaker 2: agency and you know, I'm really happy here, and you
- 19:29Speaker 2: know what, I'm gonna win my next fight and then
- 19:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna be a free man. And then maybe like
- 19:35Speaker 2: three four scenes later, they come back and they're talking
- 19:37Speaker 2: with Rada and he says, you know what, I have
- 19:40Speaker 2: always lived under the shadow of my father, and this
- 19:44Speaker 2: is kind of letting me be my own man, and
- 19:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna win that fight tomorrow and I'm going to
- 19:48Speaker 2: be free. And I'm like, hello, did you guys forget
- 19:51Speaker 2: like did you do a copy of paste? And absolutely
- 19:53Speaker 2: forget that you did that. There was just it was
- 19:55Speaker 2: so similar. I was like, Oh, we did not need
- 19:58Speaker 2: two scenes of this, We just needed one. We needed that,
- 20:00Speaker 2: or we needed two scenes that we needed scenes. Yes,
- 20:03Speaker 2: we needed scenes to be a little different. So give
- 20:06Speaker 2: me something more about Rod of the Hut. There really
- 20:09Speaker 2: wasn't that much of his characterization, but the fight that
- 20:14Speaker 2: they have I absolutely love that, especially when Rada comes
- 20:18Speaker 2: in and Mando gets kind of tricked into being in
- 20:21Speaker 2: this fight, and he just screams he's super happy, and
- 20:25Speaker 2: he goes, I know him from work.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Right, Yeah? Boy?
- 20:29Speaker 1: They really just cop from their own stuff.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Huh.
- 20:32Speaker 2: What I actually did like about that ladatorial scene and
- 20:36Speaker 2: was when they pulled back and I saw the markings
- 20:41Speaker 2: on the floor and the shape of the area that
- 20:45Speaker 2: they're in, and then when the other creatures got brought in,
- 20:49Speaker 2: I was just like, motherfucker, this is the chess game
- 20:51Speaker 2: from the Millennium Falcon. Like two or three of those
- 20:54Speaker 2: creatures are all from if not all of them, because
- 20:57Speaker 2: you're all.
- 20:58Speaker 3: From the game.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Okay, that's crazy, because like you know, I mostly remember,
- 21:03Speaker 2: of course, the guy who picks up the little guy
- 21:06Speaker 2: with no head but his face is down between his
- 21:08Speaker 2: shoulders and he throws him down and does that kind
- 21:11Speaker 2: of thing. And I was just so happy, and I
- 21:14Speaker 2: was just like, oh, this is so great. Here's me
- 21:16Speaker 2: as a five year old seeing Star Wars for the
- 21:18Speaker 2: first time, and I'm so happy about these creatures are
- 21:20Speaker 2: now brought to life.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But it was okay, And I did like that they
- 21:27Speaker 2: all eventually escaped and went out and caused havoc. I
- 21:30Speaker 2: was like, okay, good. I like when you know, people
- 21:34Speaker 2: that are running gladiatorial games get hoisted on their own
- 21:37Speaker 2: petart well.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And I like, I mean, obviously, I like that they're
- 21:40Speaker 1: paying homage to the original series, you know, the original film,
- 21:45Speaker 1: And I guess, you know, again we come back to
- 21:47Speaker 1: the idea of how much fan service do you need
- 21:50Speaker 1: to do in a film like this, and I think
- 21:51Speaker 1: that that's probably the right level of fan service for
- 21:54Speaker 1: me as a fan, Like I don't need you to
- 21:56Speaker 1: beat me over the head with him, No, really, I
- 21:58Speaker 1: really don't. I think that for me is like when
- 22:00Speaker 1: you've hit kind of like that perfect note of what
- 22:03Speaker 1: fan service can be, what fan service needs to be,
- 22:06Speaker 1: and what fan service should be. And I just don't
- 22:09Speaker 1: think it needs to get in the way. I don't
- 22:10Speaker 1: think they need to draw attention to it. But if
- 22:12Speaker 1: you're a fan of the series, or if you understand
- 22:15Speaker 1: the franchise and have seen the franchise before, it will
- 22:18Speaker 1: I don't know, I guess it'll increase your enjoyment by
- 22:20Speaker 1: maybe one percent, you know what I mean. It's not
- 22:22Speaker 1: anything like of substantial value, but to your point, it's like,
- 22:25Speaker 1: you know, if you've been a fan of this franchise
- 22:27Speaker 1: for a long time, then you are going to appreciate
- 22:30Speaker 1: some of the things that the film does, including you
- 22:32Speaker 1: know that that fight scene. For sure, I do like
- 22:34Speaker 1: that we get to see like where Java's from. Never
- 22:37Speaker 1: got to see that before in any capacity as a
- 22:40Speaker 1: fan of the shows, I'm sure they've gone there before,
- 22:43Speaker 1: given that Rot of the Hut is like a character
- 22:45Speaker 1: that's shown up and the animated series effectively went everywhere.
- 22:49Speaker 1: But as someone who's only ever watched the movies, I'm
- 22:52Speaker 1: glad that that's now somewhere that we've gotten to see
- 22:54Speaker 1: in the movies as well. Like that's I don't know,
- 22:56Speaker 1: I like when they start expanding the universe because, like
- 22:59Speaker 1: you said, i'd I don't want any more Skywalker stuff.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I really don't care.
- 23:03Speaker 1: We talk about the Lord of the Rings TV show
- 23:06Speaker 1: on another podcast, and this series Star Wars has the
- 23:10Speaker 1: problem that that Lord of the Rings TV show does not,
- 23:12Speaker 1: which is they can't get out of like one hundred years.
- 23:15Speaker 1: There's like one hundred years that they're like stuck in
- 23:17Speaker 1: as if there's not all this time before and after
- 23:20Speaker 1: all of this. It's just they don't want to get
- 23:22Speaker 1: away from the things that they perceive to make the money,
- 23:24Speaker 1: which is the Skywalkers, I guess question mark.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah no, and a'll ties back to you know, either
- 23:30Speaker 2: Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker, so a version of a Skywalker.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I mean even when it came to though, I will
- 23:37Speaker 2: say maybe the only thing I liked about that, Oh gosh,
- 23:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna scrip for a Noora was that her name,
- 23:45Speaker 2: the Brosario Dawson character.
- 23:47Speaker 3: She had a real Shoka Tana.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Ashoka, thank you, And I'm like, okay, yeah, Nora was
- 23:53Speaker 2: the movie that won the Oscar right, yeah, okay, yeah yeah.
- 23:57Speaker 2: But it's like when Annika Skywalker showed up in that show,
- 24:02Speaker 2: I was like, well, this is actually kind of enjoyable
- 24:04Speaker 2: and it's nice to see Hayden Christensen come back. But
- 24:07Speaker 2: that was about it, because that whole show was just
- 24:10Speaker 2: so fucking boring. And did you didn't part taking that one?
- 24:14Speaker 2: Did you? No?
- 24:15Speaker 1: I legitimately have not watched any Star Wars TV shows
- 24:19Speaker 1: other than Mandalorian season one and two. I have not
- 24:22Speaker 1: watched and or, much to the chagrin of some people
- 24:25Speaker 1: I know who keep telling me to watch it and
- 24:27Speaker 1: Ahsoka and stuff like that, Like I didn't watch the
- 24:30Speaker 1: Clone Wars, so it's just not something. I didn't watch
- 24:33Speaker 1: the Obi Wan Kenobi show either, which was something that
- 24:35Speaker 1: seemed like it would be right up my alley, and
- 24:38Speaker 1: then I heard it was just okay, and it was like,
- 24:41Speaker 1: I don't need to watch just okay.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Honestly, as the kids would say, it was mid. It
- 24:45Speaker 2: was very mid.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yeah it was us adults still say just okay. That
- 24:49Speaker 3: still means the same thing, right, Yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Ahsoka was really bad. I mean the whole series is
- 24:57Speaker 2: we need to get to the other side of this
- 24:59Speaker 2: galaxy where Thron is. And then they get to the
- 25:02Speaker 2: other side of the galaxy and then they go, h
- 25:05Speaker 2: we need to.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Get back your Thron is in another castle.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, well Thron was there, but yeah, it was bad.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And then you know, I'm never going to watch the
- 25:14Speaker 2: second season of it. And then Obi Wan.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Came over the second season of it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: No, I imagine they're going to do a second season
- 25:22Speaker 2: because it was a cliffhanger basically is how it ends.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Because after they take the space Whales to the other
- 25:29Speaker 2: side of the galaxy and no, you did not hear
- 25:33Speaker 2: me incorrectly, the space Whales take them there. After that, yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 2: they kind of end on the cliffhanger, and yeah, it
- 25:41Speaker 2: was man and then Ben Kenobi. I have no fucking idea.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I don't even remember what happened on that show. I
- 25:47Speaker 2: remember a lot of Sith that were trying to track
- 25:51Speaker 2: him down, including one guy who looked a lot like that,
- 25:55Speaker 2: the guy who they called a dildo. I think it
- 25:58Speaker 2: was in Mortal Kombat too. I think the character designs
- 26:01Speaker 2: on those the guy with the white face and the
- 26:03Speaker 2: big black eyebrows. Yeah, like that basically was the character
- 26:08Speaker 2: design of one of these Sith boards. Oh so hard
- 26:11Speaker 2: to take him seriously.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Oh the Grand Inquisitor, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, played by
- 26:15Speaker 1: the guy who played the hit Man in one of
- 26:17Speaker 1: those in the second hit Man movie. Uh, the one
- 26:20Speaker 1: that's not Timothy ola font. So there's been the Mandalorian,
- 26:23Speaker 1: the Book of Boba, fett Obi Wan Kenobi, and or Ahsoka.
- 26:27Speaker 1: There are two more. Do you remember those two? Did
- 26:30Speaker 1: you watch those two? Because those are the last two years.
- 26:32Speaker 2: So I didn't watch the one with the guy from
- 26:35Speaker 2: Squid Games Sins of the Empire, that's not what it's.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Called Skeleton Crew, Oh skeleton crew? Or no? Are you
- 26:44Speaker 3: talking about the Acolyte.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I was talking about the Acolyte. That's the one guy.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Has Darth Reeven or whatever.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It has, one of the people that they talked about
- 26:52Speaker 1: a million times in all the prequel stuff, and he
- 26:55Speaker 1: shows up for like two seconds in one.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Of the episodes. Sure, sure, right, exactly.
- 27:01Speaker 2: So yeah, I didn't watch that, and I didn't watch
- 27:05Speaker 2: Skeleton Crew. But even though I thought that I might
- 27:08Speaker 2: want to watch Skeleton Crew. But again, it's you know,
- 27:11Speaker 2: another Star Wars for babies, which is absolutely fine. I
- 27:13Speaker 2: mean Star Wars. I won't say it's always been for babies,
- 27:16Speaker 2: but like you know, after the third movie, when they
- 27:19Speaker 2: started doing all of the Ewok movies, it's just like, okay, yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 2: they know their audience, they know that little kids are
- 27:25Speaker 2: going to enjoy this, so yeah, let's just give them,
- 27:29Speaker 2: give them more of that stuff.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Is Skeleton Crew for kids?
- 27:32Speaker 2: That's what I've heard? Or are you just asking chat GPT?
- 27:35Speaker 1: No, I was asking you. I'm asking AI Mike White.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I don't know, is it well, I don't know. I
- 27:42Speaker 1: had not to my sources. Yeah, I had not heard
- 27:44Speaker 1: that it was for kid but I guess I'm not
- 27:46Speaker 1: surprised because this movie is for children, right, It really.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Is though it scared my granddaughter a little bit.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Uh sandworm thing or the water worm that a little bit,
- 27:57Speaker 1: which again I think as a Drew Strew not true
- 28:00Speaker 1: struson Ralph McQuary thing, Yeah, I believe so I've seen
- 28:04Speaker 1: it before. Another in yes images, yeah, on him, which is.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Weird, Yeah, because it feels like it feels a little
- 28:11Speaker 2: I don't know, like disconcerting. I guess sometimes when you
- 28:14Speaker 2: see these images and you're just like, where have I
- 28:17Speaker 2: seen this before? Like this is so familiar to me,
- 28:19Speaker 2: and then it's like, Okay, it's got to be one
- 28:21Speaker 2: of those McQuary drawings. Like in one of the seasons
- 28:24Speaker 2: of The Mandalorian might have been season two, there's a
- 28:27Speaker 2: giant ice spider and I was like, oh, I've seen
- 28:31Speaker 2: this before, and then I had to go back and
- 28:33Speaker 2: see that it was the McQuary drawing. But the a
- 28:37Speaker 2: mana or Amani I guess they're called, which again goes
- 28:42Speaker 2: back to my childhood because a man of Man was
- 28:45Speaker 2: a figure you could buy. I never bought a Man
- 28:49Speaker 2: of Man. He kind of reminds me of the David
- 28:52Speaker 2: Patrick Kelly character when he turns into a snake in Dreamscape.
- 28:57Speaker 2: They're the ones that look like the yeah, like a lizard,
- 29:01Speaker 2: but their faces there. And they're the ones that were
- 29:03Speaker 2: hanging out in the water where that big white snake
- 29:07Speaker 2: was the white snake, you know, the ones that gave
- 29:10Speaker 2: us all the hit songs like those things creepy. Yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 2: I think those scared my granddaughter.
- 29:17Speaker 3: And the pack of like Java's Throne Room is, Yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 2: They hang out in the Throne room. Yeah, there's like
- 29:24Speaker 2: one of them hanging out there. Yeah, and they were
- 29:26Speaker 2: selling every single person that was on that skiff and
- 29:31Speaker 2: in the Throne room, like there were figures for all
- 29:33Speaker 2: of them. And after a while, I was just like,
- 29:35Speaker 2: where the hell is this kid? Where's Yakface? I don't
- 29:38Speaker 2: know this character, you know.
- 29:41Speaker 3: I mean Yakface one of the greats really.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Oh of course, of course, yeah, we all remember Yakface.
- 29:48Speaker 1: I mean I remember Yakface. I know exactly what yak
- 29:50Speaker 1: Face looks like.
- 29:51Speaker 2: And it has a face like a yak.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Like a yak.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 1: It is nice that they do have some of those
- 29:58Speaker 1: throwback things to original Star Wars or other Star Wars properties,
- 30:03Speaker 1: because and I know, you know, if you know anything
- 30:05Speaker 1: about Dave Filoni, which I'm sure you Mike know at
- 30:07Speaker 1: least some about Dave Filoni. A lot of that comes
- 30:09Speaker 1: from him, Like he's just the Star Wars guy, Like
- 30:13Speaker 1: he's the one who's you know, I don't know, he's
- 30:15Speaker 1: like George Lucas at this point, Like I don't know,
- 30:18Speaker 1: he probably knows the Star Wars universe better than anybody else,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and having him involved, I think, I don't know, how
- 30:25Speaker 1: do you feel about that? Because I have my own thoughts,
- 30:28Speaker 1: and I think i'm our thoughts may be similar, But
- 30:31Speaker 1: what do you think about someone like that being directly
- 30:34Speaker 1: involved in like Star Wars project.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I mean, the guy's living his best life, right, you know,
- 30:40Speaker 2: to get in here. The the cameo slash potentially two
- 30:45Speaker 2: cameos that he.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Makes in this movie, or it's two, Yeah, it's two.
- 30:49Speaker 2: It's distracting if you know what he looks like.
- 30:52Speaker 3: All of a sudden, there's just a guy with a cowboy
- 30:54Speaker 3: to do with.
- 30:55Speaker 2: The cowboy hat.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Hay out first cowboy hat.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, he's the space cowboy. So some people call him Maurice,
- 31:03Speaker 2: but I call him Dave Filoni. And yeah, I've never
- 31:06Speaker 2: actually heard the guy speak or anything. I just know
- 31:10Speaker 2: so many of the fucking nerds, because obviously, over the
- 31:13Speaker 2: years the fan base for Star Wars has just become
- 31:18Speaker 2: a bunch of fucking chuds man and just all of
- 31:22Speaker 2: the Folony worship and then also Catherine Kennedy hatred. I'm like, Okay,
- 31:29Speaker 2: is it because he's a dude and she's a lady? Like,
- 31:32Speaker 2: is that why you're so pissy about this stuff? Is
- 31:34Speaker 2: this really who all her fault? So yeah, so for me,
- 31:40Speaker 2: just seeing the hero worship of Felony has been a
- 31:45Speaker 2: little much. So I don't know, he could be a
- 31:50Speaker 2: very nice guy. I like what he's doing with pulling
- 31:54Speaker 2: some of those things from the older drawings and you know,
- 31:58Speaker 2: kind of combining a lot of the storylines because apparently
- 32:02Speaker 2: that's gonna make some people happy. And I also appreciate
- 32:04Speaker 2: that I don't have to necessarily know everything about these stories,
- 32:08Speaker 2: like they actually gave me a little bit of Well,
- 32:10Speaker 2: here's Rod of the Hut when he was just a
- 32:13Speaker 2: little kid, and it's like, Okay, I'm pretty sure I
- 32:16Speaker 2: recognize that just from absorbing things from pop culture.
- 32:20Speaker 3: We talk about Rad of the Hut for a second, Yes, sure,
- 32:23Speaker 3: what a choice.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Huh, Yeah, yeah, I've never seen a buff hut.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Before Ladies and Gentlemen now coming to the ring Buff Hut.
- 32:31Speaker 1: It's a choice. I I'm Jeremy Allen White.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Huh yeah, And again I know you watch The Bear.
- 32:39Speaker 3: I am a very huge fan.
- 32:41Speaker 2: I'm you know, I'm more of a cub than a bear.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I really don't know that much about Jeremy Allen White.
- 32:48Speaker 1: He's just a really good actor. It's a weird choice
- 32:51Speaker 1: for him to be in this movie. It's just I
- 32:53Speaker 1: thought it was a joke when they were like, he's
- 32:55Speaker 1: gonna play a buff son of job of the Hut.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I was like, what now?
- 33:00Speaker 2: Is in real life? He's actually very buff?
- 33:02Speaker 3: Right?
- 33:02Speaker 2: Oh?
- 33:02Speaker 3: He's a very good looking gentleman.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well Jeremy so for that nos, other than the
- 33:08Speaker 1: fact that he kind of looks like Bruce Springsteen, I
- 33:11Speaker 1: mean he doesn't. But you know, I've heard he plays
- 33:13Speaker 1: him in movies and tell.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Vide That's what I've heard as well. But I kind
- 33:17Speaker 2: of forgot that movie even existed, kind of like the
- 33:19Speaker 2: Timothy Shallow may Bob Dylan film.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Amen, do you forget? Wouldn't it be?
- 33:25Speaker 1: Would it have been better if it had been? Timothy
- 33:26Speaker 1: Shallomey is a buff son of Daba the Hut.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I mean Timothy Shallamy can do anything.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Including go fuck himself. More most important, I.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Think Jeremy Allen White.
- 33:37Speaker 1: It's an interesting choice because the Rod of a Hut
- 33:39Speaker 1: character is such a bizarre choice because you already have
- 33:43Speaker 1: a CGI mequette creature for Pedro Pascalen his various stunt
- 33:48Speaker 1: men to act opposite, and now you have a lot
- 33:51Speaker 1: of the movie spent acting opposite a giant buff slug.
- 33:55Speaker 1: It's just it's a lot of doubling down in the CGI.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I think that the Hut CGI is the least interesting
- 34:01Speaker 1: looking of the movie, and it almost it looks cartoony,
- 34:05Speaker 1: and I the Zeb character looks cartoony as well, so
- 34:09Speaker 1: I can't tell if it's like intentional, it almost seems
- 34:12Speaker 1: like it is, and if it is, okay, like I
- 34:15Speaker 1: ain't got no problem. But then you have a character
- 34:17Speaker 1: like the Fisherman played by Stephen McKinley Henderson or voiced
- 34:21Speaker 1: by him, who's more realistic looking. So it's weird that
- 34:24Speaker 1: there's like stylized choices being made, But then you have
- 34:28Speaker 1: realistic looking things as well, because Zeb and Rod of
- 34:32Speaker 1: the Hutt almost look like they are from that cartoon
- 34:34Speaker 1: like from Rebels or Clone Wars, like they're still stylized
- 34:38Speaker 1: in that way. And it's weird because Jaba never looked
- 34:41Speaker 1: that way. Jaba looked that way, I guess that one
- 34:44Speaker 1: time in Return or in New Hope, and then he
- 34:47Speaker 1: kind of looked like that in Phantom Menace kind of
- 34:51Speaker 1: the one shot of him you see, I don't starts. Yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 1: it's just strange. I mean, Jeremy Allen White's a strange choice,
- 34:58Speaker 1: not a bad one. He's a great actor. It's could
- 35:00Speaker 1: have had anybody doing that role really well.
- 35:02Speaker 2: I actually liked that character. And you know, like even
- 35:06Speaker 2: though he had to say what his motivation was a
- 35:08Speaker 2: few times, I was like, Okay, yeah, I'm down with
- 35:12Speaker 2: this guy. Seems to have a good reason for doing
- 35:15Speaker 2: what he's doing. And you know, after he gets you know,
- 35:19Speaker 2: captured by his aunt and uncle, I was like, okay, yeah, no,
- 35:23Speaker 2: you have to save him. And I was glad, Like
- 35:27Speaker 2: I almost wish that there had been a little bit
- 35:29Speaker 2: of him trying to leave him being the Mandalorian, like, oh,
- 35:35Speaker 2: we got to get out of here. But there was
- 35:37Speaker 2: there was no doubt ever that he was going to
- 35:40Speaker 2: go back and save him.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Right yeah, the Mandalorian.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Can we can we also say maybe the thing for
- 35:46Speaker 1: me that the Mandalorian I think just at this point
- 35:49Speaker 1: as a character, he's lost any sense of subtlety or
- 35:54Speaker 1: complexity as a character.
- 35:55Speaker 3: He's Grogu's dad.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and they even call him that a few times.
- 35:58Speaker 1: That's it, right, Like I remember when the show started,
- 36:01Speaker 1: it's like, oh, it is like this Clint Eastwood man
- 36:03Speaker 1: with no name character, and now it is just like
- 36:06Speaker 1: he's just Grogu's dad, and he can't do any wrong
- 36:09Speaker 1: and he'll protect Grogu all the way until the end
- 36:12Speaker 1: whenever that is, if there ever is an end for
- 36:15Speaker 1: any of this. Like I don't know, right, but it's
- 36:18Speaker 1: very like the character is very much like second, this
- 36:21Speaker 1: should call this movie Grogu and the Mandalorian because it
- 36:24Speaker 1: is ultimately like become clearly Grogu's show and Grogu's kind
- 36:28Speaker 1: of whole thing, and Mandalorian is just kind of there.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And I was very surprised that there wasn't more
- 36:36Speaker 2: advancement of the Grogu character, just because it's like we've
- 36:42Speaker 2: seen him start to learn how to use the force
- 36:45Speaker 2: and he you know, he's what fifty years old, now,
- 36:49Speaker 2: and I know Yoda was at least eight hundred years old,
- 36:53Speaker 2: so it's like, okay, well, when do these guys learn
- 36:55Speaker 2: how to talk? Like when does that race learn, you know,
- 36:59Speaker 2: to not just make the cooing noises and stuff, Which
- 37:02Speaker 2: is fine, I mean, this is fucking adorable, But at
- 37:05Speaker 2: the same time, it's like, maybe he could use his
- 37:10Speaker 2: powers a little bit more or actually start to say
- 37:13Speaker 2: a word or something like. I don't know, maybe I'm
- 37:17Speaker 2: asking for too much.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I don't think so. I like I said, I'm kind
- 37:20Speaker 1: of surprised that the character isn't further along. It further
- 37:24Speaker 1: along than where I saw the character at the end
- 37:26Speaker 1: of the second season, but not much further along in
- 37:30Speaker 1: terms of being a character that has a lot of
- 37:32Speaker 1: agency and is able to communicate more. And that's why
- 37:35Speaker 1: I think like again goes back to the cute seness
- 37:38Speaker 1: of this whole thing, right, like the whole like you said,
- 37:41Speaker 1: taking your you know, kids in your life to this
- 37:45Speaker 1: film like it's for kids. I don't know if you
- 37:47Speaker 1: would have taken to the last Star Wars film if
- 37:49Speaker 1: it had been coming out today, but this, for sure
- 37:51Speaker 1: it has that entry point of Grogu. Grogu if Grogu
- 37:54Speaker 1: grown up is not something anybody cares about. I genuinely
- 37:57Speaker 1: don't think that that's a thing anybody has any interest in,
- 38:00Speaker 1: just like they don't have any interest in seeing The
- 38:02Speaker 1: Mandalorian without.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Grogu at this point.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Clearly so, because I'm not sure the Mandalorian is much
- 38:07Speaker 1: of a character without Grogu anymore. And that's unfortunate because
- 38:11Speaker 1: there again, early on in the show it felt like
- 38:13Speaker 1: a Western, there was some shades of gray to his character.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And now he's just a good guy working for the
- 38:19Speaker 1: good guy. Even Sigourney Weaver's like, yeah, well, are you
- 38:23Speaker 1: really just a bounty hunter? Are you really just an
- 38:25Speaker 1: independent contractor? It's like, no, he's one of the good
- 38:28Speaker 1: guys now. Sigourney Weaver is also in this movie.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and I was glad to see her, glad
- 38:35Speaker 2: to see her show up. I mean it kind of
- 38:37Speaker 2: plays with the same thing that they've been doing for
- 38:40Speaker 2: well since the beginning. I mean, the person that wanted
- 38:43Speaker 2: the baby was Vernda Herzog. So it's like having these
- 38:47Speaker 2: cameos from like Hertzog or John Carlo Esposito or yeah,
- 38:54Speaker 2: Sigourney Weaver, It's like, Okay, yeah, this kind of works,
- 38:57Speaker 2: and it was nice seeing her. I love Ornie Weaver,
- 39:00Speaker 2: so having her in this movie was great. I don't
- 39:03Speaker 2: know if I bought her actually leading the rescue mission.
- 39:07Speaker 2: I was glad to see Oh God, I'm not going
- 39:10Speaker 2: to know his character's name, but the guy from was
- 39:13Speaker 2: it Fresh off the Boat, the grandpa, the balding, older
- 39:18Speaker 2: Korean gentleman, because he showed up in the show a
- 39:21Speaker 2: couple of times. I liked him a lot in the show,
- 39:23Speaker 2: and so I was really glad to see him back
- 39:27Speaker 2: in this. And then yeah, a bunch of other people
- 39:30Speaker 2: that I didn't know, but they probably all have their
- 39:33Speaker 2: entries on Wikipedia. They probably all at some point somehow
- 39:38Speaker 2: met a Skywalker. Because that's the thing about the extended
- 39:41Speaker 2: Universe I can't stand, is how, no matter what, all
- 39:44Speaker 2: of them meet the main characters from the Star Wars series.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So like, even, like I remember den Gar, one of
- 39:52Speaker 2: the guys that gets hired to hunt down Han Solo
- 39:58Speaker 2: right in Empire Strikes. It's like I read his Wikipedia
- 40:02Speaker 2: entry and it's like, oh yeah, and then he had
- 40:04Speaker 2: beef with Han Solo from all these years ago, and
- 40:06Speaker 2: I'm like, why, why couldn't you just be a fucking
- 40:09Speaker 2: bounty hunter, Like, does everybody have to know everybody?
- 40:12Speaker 3: This is like the smallest time, Yes.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the smallest universe for sorry Galaxy You're ever going
- 40:18Speaker 2: to meet is this one. And they just keep making
- 40:21Speaker 2: it smaller because everybody has to track to somebody else.
- 40:25Speaker 2: It's like fucking deuteronomy sometimes.
- 40:27Speaker 1: And I don't understand why. I guess I don't understand
- 40:32Speaker 1: what the point is because again, like you have this
- 40:35Speaker 1: huge sandbox and you don't want to play in it,
- 40:37Speaker 1: you just want to just yeah, fucking just sit in
- 40:40Speaker 1: this one corner like that's it.
- 40:42Speaker 2: And then this guy knows this guy because this guy
- 40:44Speaker 2: did this thing over here, and it's like, oh, this
- 40:47Speaker 2: is if it was Kevin Bacon starring in The Mandalorian,
- 40:50Speaker 2: then I could understand it. And of course I knew
- 40:53Speaker 2: at some point they're going to have to take Pedro
- 40:55Speaker 2: Pascal's mask off. I kind of wish they didn't. I
- 40:58Speaker 2: kind of wish they did, like the Carl Urban Judge
- 41:02Speaker 2: Dread where we just never see his face that I
- 41:05Speaker 2: would have been absolutely fine with that. If The Mandalorian
- 41:08Speaker 2: had never taken off his mask was.
- 41:10Speaker 1: That The whole thing with banning a Mandalorian as you're
- 41:12Speaker 1: not supposed to take your mask off?
- 41:14Speaker 2: Well yeah, and then they shame him and he's like, well,
- 41:17Speaker 2: now I'm gonna have to kill you. And I'm like, okay, good,
- 41:19Speaker 2: And I was glad there weren't a lot of other
- 41:21Speaker 2: people in that room, because I was like, oh, and
- 41:23Speaker 2: I was gonna have to kill that guy. And that
- 41:25Speaker 2: guy and that the.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Pacha delivery man walks in. You gotta shoot him too.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Did somebody order a twelve inch sausage? Hey?
- 41:31Speaker 3: Yo, Hey, I'm Marty Scorsese. I'm a space Italian alien.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Look at me. I'm cooking with four hands.
- 41:39Speaker 1: What in God's name, Marty? What happened? They were just like, Marty,
- 41:43Speaker 1: we want to extend Laurel and a hearty handshake to
- 41:46Speaker 1: you and an olive branch because you hate our other
- 41:49Speaker 1: movies we make, so please, let's pay you SAG minimum
- 41:53Speaker 1: for one day's worth of work to pretend to be
- 41:55Speaker 1: a fore armed shopkeeper slash cook and Star Wars not
- 41:59Speaker 1: MC you Star Wars.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Well, it was kind of a it's not the same character,
- 42:04Speaker 2: but it's the same race as the guy from Solo, right,
- 42:07Speaker 2: And didn't Favreau do the voice of that character in Solo.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, did he I'm pretty sure he did, but
- 42:16Speaker 2: I don't know. Yes, he was Rio Durant, and the
- 42:21Speaker 2: character in this movie, Hugo is Hugo Durant. So I
- 42:26Speaker 2: bet you if we look him up on Wikipedia one
- 42:29Speaker 2: it's father and son.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Oh my god, please the unknown Durant family line. Yeah,
- 42:36Speaker 1: oh my god, this is this is completely unnecessary Star Wars.
- 42:40Speaker 3: You do know that.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be cool if that was this guy and
- 42:44Speaker 2: then he could do this? And then he makes a
- 42:46Speaker 2: reference and yeah, that'd be cool. Okay, cool?
- 42:50Speaker 3: He shares the name with Rio Durant. They're not related, but.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Oh just a lot of durance in the of those
- 42:58Speaker 2: fore armed huge fan of dark Man? Yes, yes?
- 43:01Speaker 3: What what? What did you think of.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Scorsese related to him Kevin to a four armed monster
- 43:09Speaker 1: from Star Wars?
- 43:10Speaker 3: Hopefully? Yeah?
- 43:11Speaker 2: I hope so too.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I mean he is French Canadian?
- 43:13Speaker 2: Right right? Sorry? What was your question?
- 43:17Speaker 3: My question was? Did you find Martin Scorsese is distracting
- 43:20Speaker 3: his I did?
- 43:20Speaker 2: I did? I did?
- 43:22Speaker 1: Okay, good because I was like, it's just it's you
- 43:24Speaker 1: know how Martin Scorsese's mom and Goodfellas is not distracting,
- 43:28Speaker 1: even when you know it's his mom in this movie.
- 43:30Speaker 1: It's like, I don't care if it's if I know
- 43:31Speaker 1: it's Scorsese or not. It's very distracted.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't help that he kind of looks like him,
- 43:36Speaker 2: you know, with the gray and everything.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Looks like insults.
- 43:43Speaker 2: That is not no and we I mean, you've never
- 43:46Speaker 2: seen Scorsese with the shirt of he has four arms,
- 43:49Speaker 2: so that's how he makes all.
- 43:51Speaker 3: His fall out of the chair.
- 43:53Speaker 1: That character looks like an old Asian man.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Well, he's got the gray going on, so kind of
- 43:59Speaker 2: reminded me. And then you know it sounds exactly like
- 44:02Speaker 2: Martin Scorsese, so.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Like, well, I mean, yeah, that's intentional.
- 44:07Speaker 2: It's kind of wild.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Do you think he actually had twelve kids.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I think he had five kids, just like Benny from
- 44:15Speaker 2: Total Recall. Man, I've got five kids to feed.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Don't kill me. Oh my god. I love that Scorsese
- 44:24Speaker 3: is in this.
- 44:24Speaker 2: I'm just like you. It was. I was so shocked
- 44:27Speaker 2: when his name came up in the credits. I was
- 44:30Speaker 2: like what, and then I forgot that he was in it.
- 44:33Speaker 2: And then when Dnjarren goes to find some information and
- 44:37Speaker 2: that guy starts talking. I was like, oh shit, That'schssse's voice.
- 44:43Speaker 1: You know, he looks less like Scorsese, and you know
- 44:46Speaker 1: who he actually looks like if you were to put
- 44:48Speaker 1: glasses on him, he looks like Coppola. He looks like
- 44:51Speaker 1: old Coppola, with like the hair and the facial hair,
- 44:55Speaker 1: all right, and the turban that the turbine urban or
- 45:00Speaker 1: a head covering, and it looks it looks like a turbine.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Maybe, yeah, you never know.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I don't know the religions of Star Wars. All I
- 45:09Speaker 1: know is that apparently if Rata the Hut does enough crunches,
- 45:12Speaker 1: he can become what I'm assuming some people will probably
- 45:16Speaker 1: find sexy, which is mean God is.
- 45:19Speaker 3: The other really awful thing to think about?
- 45:21Speaker 2: Really, I can't even imagine the fiction that's being written
- 45:25Speaker 2: right now.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Yeah, probably I would love to imagine it, frankly.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Lots of AI videos and things now. So yeah, what
- 45:35Speaker 2: would it be like if you were in a Rat
- 45:37Speaker 2: of the Hut sandwich with thin jarn Ooh.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Yeah, with with Hugo Durant filming with his fore arms, yes,
- 45:46Speaker 1: four different angles?
- 45:47Speaker 2: Yeah, get over there, over there, yeah, exactly. You see
- 45:50Speaker 2: that window up there. You see that window, that's my
- 45:52Speaker 2: wife up there. Yeah, that's what I would have liked
- 45:55Speaker 2: if he started doing that whole speech from taxi driver.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Oh my god. Yeah, it's just what did we have?
- 46:00Speaker 3: We had Simon pegg in.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Oh that was so weird, and Daniel Craig.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we had this This is another one,
- 46:09Speaker 1: and then Werner Herzog is the other big one obviously,
- 46:12Speaker 1: like so brandom. Jon Favreau is just like, hey, you
- 46:14Speaker 1: want to be in Star Wars.
- 46:16Speaker 2: But that's the thing I really like, you know, like
- 46:18Speaker 2: I don't know Fuloni, but I know Favreau. Oh yeah,
- 46:22Speaker 2: And I like Favreau and I've always liked him, like
- 46:26Speaker 2: since ash did I ever? Did I see him in
- 46:29Speaker 2: things before Swingers? I know for sure Swingers? And I
- 46:33Speaker 2: really liked him in Swingers. Yeah, I guess he was
- 46:37Speaker 2: in Oh yeah, that's right, he was in PCU. I
- 46:40Speaker 2: forgot about that one. He's so good in that. Yes,
- 46:43Speaker 2: don't be the guy who wears the T shirt to
- 46:46Speaker 2: the band are going to see?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Yeah, literally taking that shit to heart, by the way.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Oh same same, and then the replacements yeah, oh man,
- 46:55Speaker 2: So yeah, I really like him and I like a
- 47:00Speaker 2: lot of the stuff that he's directed, and of course
- 47:03Speaker 2: Iron Man. You know, you could you could lay a
- 47:06Speaker 2: lot of blame at the feet of Jon Favreau, but
- 47:09Speaker 2: I I don't. I think he has done a really
- 47:12Speaker 2: great thing with his career over the years, and I
- 47:15Speaker 2: love that he does acting, producing, directing, writing, and yeah,
- 47:20Speaker 2: I like what he's done with the Star Wars properties
- 47:24Speaker 2: that he's been involved with, way better than like a
- 47:28Speaker 2: Robert Rodriguez, who directed probably the most awful book of
- 47:33Speaker 2: Bubba Fette that there was, which is saying something that's
- 47:36Speaker 2: like a race to the bottom, I would.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Say John Favreau, I don't know what what is there
- 47:40Speaker 1: to blame him for other than having an abundance of
- 47:43Speaker 1: these things in our lives more because Star Wars was
- 47:46Speaker 1: on the decline when he took over and did The
- 47:50Speaker 1: Mandalorian as a show and it took over. I mean
- 47:52Speaker 1: he just took over because he created The Mandalorian as
- 47:54Speaker 1: a show and that ended up becoming like the overwhelming
- 47:58Speaker 1: conversation about Star Wars for like five years.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Is just the man warri.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I'm just saying him as director of Iron.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Man, well saying with Marvel, like Marvel wasn't a thing
- 48:07Speaker 1: the way it is then the way it is now,
- 48:09Speaker 1: and he's part of the reason.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Yeah, if iron Man hadn't been the hit that it was,
- 48:13Speaker 2: I don't think we I don't think Martin says he
- 48:16Speaker 2: would have been pissed off about.
- 48:17Speaker 1: It, right, Martin Scorsese would not. This is all John
- 48:20Speaker 1: Favreau's fault. That Martin Scorsese is a forearmed ape and
- 48:23Speaker 1: star Wars. It all comes back to John Favreau in
- 48:27Speaker 1: the end. He was in an episode of The Sopranos,
- 48:29Speaker 1: Mike playing himself.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Yeah, and I remember that Alicia Wit.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, he's it's crazy Favreau.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I think Fabreau is a good arbiter of the pop
- 48:38Speaker 1: culture world the way a JJ Abrams is not.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's funny, Like you know, he definitely has
- 48:45Speaker 2: taken some missteps as a director. Iron Man two. Uh,
- 48:51Speaker 2: I haven't seen since Thora. You saw Jamonti, right, I
- 48:54Speaker 2: saw Jamantu, so I basically saw Thora. Right. Yeah, it's
- 49:00Speaker 2: funny because one of his other missteps is Cowboys and Aliens,
- 49:05Speaker 2: which kind of is the Mandalorian if you think of it,
- 49:08Speaker 2: because it's basically a cowboys show with aliens.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Man that's a movie, you know. Is it bad that
- 49:14Speaker 1: I would like to rewatch that movie? Or if I
- 49:17Speaker 1: rewatch it, is it as bad as is it as
- 49:20Speaker 1: not much of anything as I remember, because I don't
- 49:22Speaker 1: even remember it being bad. I just remember watching in
- 49:24Speaker 1: theaters being like, huh, I also had I was one
- 49:27Speaker 1: of the few people at the time that I had
- 49:28Speaker 1: actually bought the graphic novel and read it long before
- 49:32Speaker 1: the movie ever came out, And I remember thinking to myself,
- 49:35Speaker 1: do we really need this being adapted anyways?
- 49:37Speaker 2: Like was it a good graphic novel?
- 49:39Speaker 1: No, because it wasn't great. It was just a novel concept,
- 49:45Speaker 1: but like not clearly not novel enough.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Right, what's funny? When I saw it, I was really
- 49:51Speaker 2: reminded a lot of John Carter parentheses of Mars and parentheses.
- 49:57Speaker 2: But I like John Carter better than I liked Cowboys
- 50:00Speaker 2: Versus Aliens or Cowboys and Aliens.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I've heard that John Carter movie is not as bad
- 50:04Speaker 1: as it was being played out to be.
- 50:07Speaker 2: No, No, it's not terrible. I mean, some of the
- 50:09Speaker 2: special effects are a little rough, but it's really not
- 50:12Speaker 2: that bad, you know, I mean, and I do like
- 50:14Speaker 2: that Fabreau really kind of goes above and beyond when
- 50:18Speaker 2: it comes to special effects, and a lot of his stuff,
- 50:20Speaker 2: like the Jungle Book, the effects in that, which again,
- 50:24Speaker 2: did we really need a live action Jungle Book? No,
- 50:27Speaker 2: his was decent and I really like the special effects
- 50:30Speaker 2: on it.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Well, I would say that this is this is redemptive
- 50:34Speaker 1: of him as a director, more so than The Lion King, Like,
- 50:37Speaker 1: oh boy, yeah, was a misstep. I mean that is
- 50:40Speaker 1: just talk about unnecessary in a way that's I don't know,
- 50:44Speaker 1: I don't I can think of few things less unnecessary
- 50:49Speaker 1: than that Lion King movie. And you know what's true?
- 50:52Speaker 1: What the fuck was even the point? The original one
- 50:54Speaker 1: is hand drawn and this one's just animated effectively, what
- 50:57Speaker 1: are we what are we doing here, folks?
- 50:59Speaker 2: Yeah? And the lack of of facial expressions.
- 51:01Speaker 1: On the animals, the real animals, Like what that was
- 51:05Speaker 1: the strangest fucking choice. The year of animals making strange
- 51:09Speaker 1: choices was twenty nineteen. We had asshole list cats played
- 51:13Speaker 1: by humans and then human beings playing real life animals
- 51:18Speaker 1: in what's effectively a David Attenborough documentary but turned into
- 51:21Speaker 1: Lion King, Like.
- 51:22Speaker 3: What was the point?
- 51:23Speaker 1: I don't know, it's so fucking bizarre and and you
- 51:26Speaker 1: know we didn't mention it, but I honestly think John
- 51:29Speaker 1: Fabra is one of the few people who's created a
- 51:30Speaker 1: modern day Christmas classic with ELF. I mean, you know,
- 51:33Speaker 1: Elf is. I think ELF's amazing. Yeah, I think we
- 51:36Speaker 1: would both agree, like it's pretty phenomenal Christmas film, like
- 51:41Speaker 1: one of the few ones that has been released in
- 51:43Speaker 1: the last twenty plus years or twenty twenty five years
- 51:45Speaker 1: that actually is as good as the other ones that
- 51:48Speaker 1: are remembered as Christmas classics. And that's hard to do,
- 51:51Speaker 1: especially organic.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Well, and of course I love the nods to rink
- 51:54Speaker 2: and a bass in that one too, right.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Right, right, Yeah.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I feel like if we could get Jon Favreau on
- 51:59Speaker 1: a podcast to talk to us the same, we'd all
- 52:01Speaker 1: be able to have the same language. We share the
- 52:03Speaker 1: same language with someone like John Favre. I think it
- 52:06Speaker 1: comes through with what is successful about this movie. I
- 52:10Speaker 1: think the things that are successful about this movie are
- 52:13Speaker 1: the things that someone who's genuinely a fan of Star
- 52:16Speaker 1: Wars would want to see and nods back to the
- 52:19Speaker 1: old stuff, nods to things that have never happened, new stuff, fun,
- 52:24Speaker 1: new creatures, and other things and expounding upon creatures we've
- 52:27Speaker 1: seen before in a fun way. Like those all seem
- 52:30Speaker 1: like a thing that someone who actually likes Star Wars
- 52:32Speaker 1: would want in their movie, and that's what this movie is.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Maybe sometimes a little too much, but I can't foresee
- 52:38Speaker 1: them not making another one. I don't know if they'll
- 52:40Speaker 1: make another Grogu season of TV, but I think we'll
- 52:43Speaker 1: get probably another one of these at least.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because I mean, basically, you know, I love Pitch
- 52:52Speaker 2: many things, right, the Ryan George series that's on YouTube right,
- 52:56Speaker 2: and I just can hear in his voice, you know,
- 53:00Speaker 2: oh what an adorable little marketing opportunity. When it comes
- 53:03Speaker 2: to Grogu, it's like, yeah, that's what he's built to
- 53:06Speaker 2: sell toys, you know. And he's cuterer than fucking ewoks,
- 53:11Speaker 2: and he has a lot of potential, and he's got
- 53:14Speaker 2: some power, he's got some agency. I really like when
- 53:17Speaker 2: those little guys take him with him to go rescue Mando.
- 53:22Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, this is good. I'm glad that
- 53:24Speaker 2: it's actually him doing this, you know, it's not somebody
- 53:28Speaker 2: else rescuing Mando. And I also liked the pretty direct
- 53:33Speaker 2: nod I think to want to say to it's either
- 53:36Speaker 2: Lone Wolf and Cub two or Lone Wolf and Cub three.
- 53:38Speaker 2: When Ogami Eto you know, is injured and Diggaro has
- 53:44Speaker 2: to take care of him, and there's a great scene
- 53:47Speaker 2: where Daggero was trying to bring him water and he
- 53:49Speaker 2: can't figure out how to do it, so he finally
- 53:51Speaker 2: puts the water in his mouth because he can't hold
- 53:53Speaker 2: it into his hands and walk that far. I was
- 53:56Speaker 2: expecting Grogu to do the same thing, but luckily he
- 53:58Speaker 2: had that little vial that he could at the water in.
- 54:00Speaker 2: But I was like, this is cool, and I also
- 54:02Speaker 2: like the kind of I'm guessing it's an instinctual thing
- 54:06Speaker 2: for their race to make houses that look like that
- 54:10Speaker 2: house that he puts uh Dingjarn in because it's exactly
- 54:13Speaker 2: the same as Yoga's house on Dagabah.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that.
- 54:17Speaker 2: I love that was nice. Yes, And then using the
- 54:20Speaker 2: force to push him in there and that clanked when
- 54:22Speaker 2: his head keeps hitting the wall. I was like, that's
- 54:25Speaker 2: pretty cute. I like this this movie is cute.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Right, Like we have the and Zelens, the little I mean,
- 54:31Speaker 1: I don't know what they are like, I don't know
- 54:32Speaker 1: how cute those little things are the little old manserting.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they kind of remind me of the I think
- 54:39Speaker 2: there's a shrimp character from the Muppets.
- 54:42Speaker 1: They kind of remind you, oh yeah, god, yeah, yeah,
- 54:46Speaker 1: yeah yeah, Pepe yesrrect. Yeah, he's also like Puerto Rican.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Pepe the King frown, yes exactly, yea, yeah.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Yeah, he does. They do kind of look like that.
- 54:59Speaker 1: I mean, there was Babu Frick was in what the
- 55:02Speaker 1: Last Star Wars sequel. I think so he was the
- 55:05Speaker 1: one that wiped C three po and I don't know.
- 55:08Speaker 1: They remind me of like Hairy or Neon nubs.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I can see that.
- 55:12Speaker 3: But it's a cute see movie. There's like all you know,
- 55:14Speaker 3: there's all these like cute things in the movie.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Like I think to your point, like it is a
- 55:18Speaker 1: marketing opportunity, but Grogu, I think, for if you, if
- 55:22Speaker 1: you were any company making products in the last ten years,
- 55:25Speaker 1: like Grogu has been a godsend if you're children facing
- 55:29Speaker 1: like my god.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Do you know what else? They reminded me of those
- 55:33Speaker 2: worm aliens in Men in Black, the ones that like
- 55:37Speaker 2: are hang out in the coffee room, like, yeah, those
- 55:41Speaker 2: kind of things.
- 55:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you want some coffee? Yeah, the right, yeah, yeah.
- 55:45Speaker 2: The worm guys, I guess they're called Yeah.
- 55:48Speaker 3: I like Pep. I like the comparison of Pepe the Muppet,
- 55:50Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you, Pepe the King brin Jesus Christ.
- 55:54Speaker 2: But yeah, I would.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Uh.
- 55:55Speaker 2: You know, if you're into Star Wars, especially if you're
- 55:57Speaker 2: into The Mandalorian, there's no reason not to go see
- 56:00Speaker 2: this movie. Yeah. You know, it's very to me, inoffensive
- 56:06Speaker 2: to the to the point where some people might be like, well,
- 56:08Speaker 2: it's not taking risks, it's not doing anything new, We're.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Not as I saw said that.
- 56:13Speaker 1: They were like, it's kind of boring, and you know,
- 56:15Speaker 1: it is kind of boring. But I think it's also
- 56:17Speaker 1: like that's if you look at it solely as that's
- 56:20Speaker 1: the intention. I don't know how you can't say it
- 56:23Speaker 1: doesn't succeed. Is it charming or is it like it's
- 56:27Speaker 1: a charming movie. It doesn't need to be any more
- 56:29Speaker 1: than that. Like The Mandalorian is pretty frothy television entertainment,
- 56:33Speaker 1: is it not.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to say it's a little bit more grounded.
- 56:39Speaker 1: I don't know. Yah, and Laurian's fun. This is finol
- 56:42Speaker 1: supposed to sit down with your kids or your family
- 56:45Speaker 1: and you watch Mandalorian. Like the movie is the same.
- 56:49Speaker 1: It doesn't like the original. This this recaptures a feeling
- 56:53Speaker 1: of kind of fun that the Star Wars sequels really didn't.
- 56:58Speaker 1: The Star Wars prequels really didn't. This is like kind
- 57:02Speaker 1: of taking what makes the Mandalorian fun, that like charmingness
- 57:06Speaker 1: between Pedro Pascal and the little Grogu puppet, and it
- 57:09Speaker 1: amplified it, Like that's that's all this is. Like if
- 57:11Speaker 1: you were expecting this, if you're expecting to go into
- 57:13Speaker 1: this this to be something other than that, Like that's
- 57:16Speaker 1: on you. Yeah, more than I think the filmmakers really
- 57:19Speaker 1: not trying to give them a pass, but I think
- 57:21Speaker 1: like they're successful and they're successful in achieving what I
- 57:24Speaker 1: would be setting out to do with the movie like this,
- 57:26Speaker 1: which is make something cute for the whole family, because
- 57:29Speaker 1: that's what the Mandalorian was and is, And if they
- 57:32Speaker 1: do another one of these movies, that's what it's going
- 57:34Speaker 1: to be. It's just going to be more of this,
- 57:36Speaker 1: Like it might be a little bit edgier because the
- 57:39Speaker 1: people that grew up with Mandalorian are getting older, but
- 57:42Speaker 1: I like, Grogu's never gonna die. Mandalorian's never gonna die. Like,
- 57:46Speaker 1: get that shit out of your head now, Like there's
- 57:49Speaker 1: the most danger any one of them is either ever
- 57:51Speaker 1: going to be in is going to be something that
- 57:53Speaker 1: can be easily solved by the end of the episode, season,
- 57:56Speaker 1: or movie like it, It's it's kind of past that
- 57:59Speaker 1: point at point. It's like Stranger Things. It's just kind
- 58:02Speaker 1: of become unto itself, its own thing. And I don't know.
- 58:05Speaker 1: If this is the end of the Mandalorian story, I
- 58:08Speaker 1: think it was a good way to end it. If
- 58:09Speaker 1: it was the beginning of another Mandalorian thing, I think
- 58:12Speaker 1: it's a pretty decent jumping off point as well.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the only thing that surprised me about the Mandalorian
- 58:17Speaker 2: and Grogu was that it didn't end with production drawings,
- 58:21Speaker 2: because that's how all the TV episodes end, And I
- 58:24Speaker 2: was like, well, kind of would have been appropriate to
- 58:26Speaker 2: just end it the same damn way, because this is
- 58:28Speaker 2: just a big old TV episode that I paid paid
- 58:32Speaker 2: top dollar to see, and that might make people butt
- 58:34Speaker 2: hurt as well, just like, oh, I could have just
- 58:37Speaker 2: watched this on TV. It's like, well you could, and
- 58:39Speaker 2: you can wait like what three months? Maybe not if that.
- 58:43Speaker 3: Long, yeah, month and a half probably at.
- 58:45Speaker 2: The yes, and then it'll be on Disney Plus and
- 58:49Speaker 2: you can just watch it there, so if you don't
- 58:51Speaker 2: want to go to this show, you know, I think
- 58:53Speaker 2: I finally knocked Michael off of the Pedestal of the
- 58:57Speaker 2: Top Earners. Maybe I don't even.
- 58:59Speaker 3: Know that movie. He he heat all the way to
- 59:01Speaker 3: the Top Baby.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, America was talking about it. I guess America
- 59:07Speaker 2: loves its pedophiles.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Man loves its little things too, little grogu dancing around
- 59:13Speaker 1: making its cute noises. Mike, we just have very over
- 59:18Speaker 1: exaggerate how much cuteness sells.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Baby.
- 59:20Speaker 2: There are a few moments in the movie that I
- 59:24Speaker 2: kept thinking of Baby Groot, and especially in the I
- 59:28Speaker 2: think it was the Second Guardians of the Galaxy when
- 59:31Speaker 2: Rockets trying to explain to him like don't push you know,
- 59:34Speaker 2: push this button, don't push this button, YadA, YadA, YadA,
- 59:37Speaker 2: And at one point den Jarren gives them some instructions like,
- 59:40Speaker 2: you know, don't touch those buttons, or I know what
- 59:42Speaker 2: it is, it's you know, remember those buttons. I told
- 59:45Speaker 2: you not to touch, like touch those buttons down. I
- 59:47Speaker 2: need you to help me with this stuff, right, And
- 59:49Speaker 2: he just keeps firing rockets on all this stuff, and
- 59:52Speaker 2: I'm just like, oh, this is the this is the
- 59:54Speaker 2: baby Groot moment. Okay, all right, but at least Grogu
- 59:57Speaker 2: seems like smarter. But at same time, you know, I'm
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: curious when he will start talking backwards.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Oh oh oh like Yoda.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: I well, that's the thing, like I think, I think
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: the last you know, kind of the question I have
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: for you is where where does Star Wars go for
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: heat from here? As a franchise? Do they keep doing
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: stuff like this? Do they make movies out of their
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: TV shows? Like I just I haven't gotten the sinse
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: people care about Star Wars the way that they used to.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Like this, This was successful, but it wasn't as successful
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: as I think they wanted it to be, like financially,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and you know, critically, it's like literally more or less
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: down the middle, like it's like sixty percent the reviews
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: are positive. So I don't know, I'm curious what your
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: thoughts are, because you know, you might be coming at
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: this from a different direction because you're just a little
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: bit older than I am. I have a little bit
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: different feelings about Star Wars than I know you do
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: because I grew up with it in a different way
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: than you do.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if they're going to go. I
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: don't know how many more television shows are going to make.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I imagine they will continue to make television shows because
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: I don't see them as costing that much, especially now
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: that they've got that kind of valumetric the volume system, right.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: I mean, I have to say, you know, other than
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: what you pointed out with the huts looking a little questionable,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: most of the movie looks really good.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: For the Yeah, I think it looks better than that
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Punisher thing that they threw out there.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Oh Jesus, Jesus.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Christy, that's not John Burnhal falling off a roof, clearly,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Oh Jesus.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: But you know, I know coming up they're going to
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: do well. I can't say I know they're going to
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: do because they've been now so many things over the
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: years that they just are not doing anymore, you know,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: like there this was supposed to be the fourth season
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: of The Mandalorian, but they're not doing it. I don't
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: think they're going to do a Lando TV show. I
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: don't think they're gonna do what was that There was
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: like a oh, there's another title they kept, like the
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Something of the New Republic or something thing. But apparently
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: they're supposed to do one called Starfighter.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Well that's coming out, okay, Yeah, that's the one with
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Ryan Gossling that that that has been I think they're
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I think they're done filming.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Okay, and then yeah, I guess there's also supposed to
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: be one called New Jedi Order that goes back to
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Ray so Ray Skywalker, so fuck me right.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Well, then James Mangold is supposed to direct one as well,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: and then Dave Filoni is supposed to get his own thing,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: so all right, I'm you know, I don't know. I
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I unfortunately think Star Wars has kind of just jumped
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: the shark. I think those those sequels were really bad,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: and I think they've only gotten worse in retrospect looking
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: back on them, because I think the things that have
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: been good since, like Mandalorian even it kind of soured
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: itself because you know, the first season of that show
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: fucking amazing. Second season, like immediately it starts being diminishing, returns,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: and then by the end of that season it's just like, okay,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: we have to.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Get Luke Skywalker involved.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: So I think Star Wars is best suited kind of
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: trying a couple different things, seeing what works, but always
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: leading with the same foot, which always seems to be
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: cutesy shit like, pair something exciting with something cutesy, and
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: that seems to be Star Wars nowadays. They even had
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Porgs and Babu Frick in the new movies What was
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: own BB eight? Do? What was the thing in the
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: first Star Wars seane ABBA's BB eight Porgs and then
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Babu Frick in that order, and then you know, Baby
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Yoda is kind of like there there will be nothing
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: as cute for a while as Baby Yoda. Nobody's figured
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: out what that next thing is. Baby Yoda is still
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: kind of that cutesy pop culter thing that you can
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: go back to.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: A please don't dead name Grogu.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Oh sorry, dead naming Grogu.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Does anybody call him Grogu other than Mandalorian.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: That's a good question. I imagine some of them. Yeah,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: I think he introduces him as Grogu and that baby Yoda,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: because I don't think Mando knows who Yoda is.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Right, Yoda is a term that we as people outside
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: of the.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Universe, right, I would recommend. Now, I haven't seen the
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: second season of and Or, but I really enjoyed the
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: first season that might eventually start to suffer from the
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: same thing we were talking about with Rings of Power,
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: where it's like, Okay, I know where this is going.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: And that's that's what I like about Rings of Power,
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: is that we know where things are going in a
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: few thousand years, as opposed to and Or at some
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: point is going to tie right up to Rogue One.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: But that first season is definitely pre you know, very
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: pre Rogue one, since everybody fucking dies in Rogue one.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Really cheerful movie. I sever mon, Matha, I guess, But yeah,
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: I haven't seen the second season yet. I'm curious if
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: that's good. And then yeah, all the other Star Wars properties, Like, again,
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: I haven't seen The Acolyte. Is that what you mentioned?
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: It's not coming back. It's canceled after one.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: Season because people couldn't stand it. And I'm just like, again,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I think there were probably too many women and people
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: of color in there. Oh my god. And I did
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: like that when it comes to Mandalorian and grogu, Like,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: you could say that Mando is a human and Sigourney
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Weavers a human, but otherwise it's all creatures or other
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: races that are the main characters. And I was absolutely
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: fine with that same say.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: I mean, like Zeb, you know, Zeb is not is
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: not remotely human. So no, no, lots of robots.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Was there a shot of R two D two at
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: one point in the movie, Maybe there's droid being put
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: into an X wing it?
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Yes, it was like, I wasn't sure if that was
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: R two, if that was just another R two unit.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: And I think R five D four might have been
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: in this one. I don't know, but I didn't look
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: up the I'm sure there's a ton of trivia about
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: this movie and people just flip it out trying to
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: make all the connections. But it's like, yeah, no, I'm good.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: I'm good with what I saw on screen, and I
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: don't need to dig dig dig deeper in this.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you. I think it's very interesting. Do
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: you remember what the last standalone Star Wars movie that
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: came out was?
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Was it Solo?
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: It was solo? Okay twenty eight?
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: Wow?
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Okay, Rogue One, Solo and Mandalorian and grogu are the
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: three singular films so far that have been Star Wars
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: standalone films. I would put this above those two, Oh
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: you definitely, yes. I think Solo is still the one that,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: like probably in the long run, has the most like
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: return viability because Alden aren Reich is such a good
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: actor and I think that, like I think he's actually
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: really good in that movie. I just think that movie
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: is just, I think, a fucking mess because of other things,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: like so many other things, namely like the Ron Howard
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: of it all will never make sense to me why
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: they just didn't let Lord Miller do their thing. But
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: it least like Rope One is Gareth Edwards movie, but
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: it also had the acts taken to it, Like we
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: know that about that movie, like when we did that
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: episode about it, or at least I did. I remember
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: talking about there's shots from the trailer that are not
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: in the movie, and there's a lot of shots in
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the trailer that are not from the movie, like they
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: edited the whole movie, don't. Yeah, this is the first
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: one of these three that feels like this is one,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: if not two or three people's singular vision and it's
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: executed the way that they want it. Is it as
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: much of a big swing as it needs to be? No,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: but not everything needs to be a swing for the fences,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: home runs sometimes and in the park single get somebody
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: home from third base and you score the run and
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: you win. Anyways, it doesn't always have to be this
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: big swing. And Star Wars, i think right now for me,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: is in a position of like, you can't take big
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: swings because I'm not sure the public sentiment with Star
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Wars is not where it used to be at all.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I think people have soured on Star Wars and just
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: don't really care anymore. And Star Wars is gonna have
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: to lot to do a lot to make up a
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: lot that it's lost as a franchise because of people
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: that did a poor job with it and thought, let's
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: just give them a bunch of Star Wars all the
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: time and the quality of it doesn't matter, and they'll
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: just eat it up. And it's like, no, they won't. Actually,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: they will not just eat it up. And they did
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: not just eat it up. And I'm glad to see
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: that something like this is successful. Is it the most
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: exciting thing I've ever seen. No, But if that's what
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: people wanted, I'm sorry. That was never what this was
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: going to be.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Well, Chris, when you're not talking about Star Wars and
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: scouring the Wikipedia for connections between all of these different characters,
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: what keeps you busy? Sir?
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: You know that there's someone out there who's immensely offended
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: that you're making fun of what they do every day.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I don't care any more than you do. That's fine.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I am scouring Wikipedia for all of the connections. I
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: want to know if the salacious be Crumb character somehow
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: ran into Hans Solo before he was in a job
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: of the huts thrown room.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I have to know. I have to know.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: But if you want to hear the things that I'm
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: doing out in the public that aren't done in the
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: secrecy and privacy of my own home, you can add
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: on over to weirdingwaymedia dot com, where this show and
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: all the shows I work on can be found, But
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: most importantly, the ones that I don't work on can
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: be found there as well, like midnight Viewing, eighties TV ladies.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Whole host of things can be found over there, Mike Show,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: the Projection Booth as well, so yeah, what about you, Mike,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Where can people find you?
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much the same darn thing all the way
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: down the line, other than the Patreon, which is patreon
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: dot com slash projection booth where you can get early
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: access to pretty much everything and all the shows that
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: I work on and stuff. I try to post those
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: out there as much as possible. So now we've got
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: a brand new show that we will be announcing probably
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: a few months from now.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely towards the end of the year. You'll know
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: more about it if you're a fan of what we
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: do with Rank and on Bond. It won't be a
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Patreon exclusive, like Mike said, but just do'll be able
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: to get it ad free, so.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: You know, a month early.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you so much for joining us and listening
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: to this episode.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: Mike.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Thanks, thank you for pushing me to go see this movie,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: getting me out of the house to go enjoy the
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Mandalorian Wink wink, and yeah, we'll catch you on the
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: next next episode.
