- Lucas: Hey everyone, welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with the wonderful Luna. Luna: Hi, I'm Luna! And Lucas, I have to say, last episode when we learned 'hoofd', 'hand', and 'voet', I was pointing at my head all day. Lucas: That's awesome, Luna. It means you're practicing. And today, we're going to keep building on that. We're going to learn three more body parts. Luna: Ooh, which ones? I hope we do the elbow or something fun. Lucas: Not quite the elbow today, but equally useful. Let's start with 'de arm'. That means 'the arm'. Luna: De arm. De arm. That's pretty straightforward. Like 'arm' in English, but with 'de' in front. Lucas: Exactly. And the plural is 'de armen'. But for now, let's just focus on the singular. So repeat after me: de arm. Luna: De arm. Lucas: Good. Now, next one: 'het been'. This means 'the leg'. Luna: Het been. Hmm, that one sounds like 'bone' in English, but it means leg. Interesting. Lucas: Right, it's a false friend. 'Been' in Dutch is leg, not bone. For bone we say 'bot'. But we'll save that for another day. Luna: Okay, so het been. Leg. Got it. Lucas: And the last one: 'het oog'. That's 'the eye'. Luna: Het oog. Het oog. That's a good one. I can point to my eye and say it. Lucas: Perfect. So let's practice all three. I'll say them slowly: de arm, het been, het oog. Luna: De arm, het been, het oog. Lucas: Great. Now, let's do a little exercise. I'll say a body part in English, and you say it in Dutch. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: Arm. Luna: De arm. Lucas: Leg. Luna: Het been. Lucas: Eye. Luna: Het oog. Lucas: Nailed it. Now, let's put them in a sentence. For example: 'Ik heb een arm.' That means 'I have an arm.' Try it. Luna: Ik heb een arm. Lucas: And 'Ik heb een been.' I have a leg. Luna: Ik heb een been. Lucas: And 'Ik heb een oog.' I have an eye. Luna: Ik heb een oog. Lucas, I think I can say these with my eyes closed. Lucas: Only if you're careful. Now, let me ask you a question: 'Heb je een arm?' That means 'Do you have an arm?'. Luna: Ja, ik heb een arm. Lucas: And 'Heb je een been?' Luna: Ja, ik heb een been. Lucas: And 'Heb je een oog?' Luna: Ja, ik heb een oog. Wait, that sounds weird, but grammatically it's correct. Lucas: Exactly. So now you know how to talk about these body parts. Let's do a quick roleplay. Imagine you're at a doctor's office and you hurt your arm. You can say: 'Ik heb pijn aan mijn arm.' That's 'I have pain in my arm.' Luna: Ik heb pijn aan mijn arm. Lucas: Great. Or 'Mijn been doet pijn.' My leg hurts. Luna: Mijn been doet pijn. Lucas: And 'Mijn oog doet pijn.' Luna: Mijn oog doet pijn. This is really practical. Lucas: Before we continue, I want to mention something. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Dutch, like learning these body parts makes you feel more confident... well, we deliberately don't run ads on these episodes. Luna: Yeah, that's a nice thing. No interruptions. Lucas: Right. And if you want to support that choice, the link is buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. That's buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It helps us keep making these lessons. Luna: Totally. Even a small coffee helps. But no pressure. Lucas: Exactly. Now, let's practice some more. How about we do a little 'Simon says' in Dutch? I'll say 'Raak je arm aan' which means 'Touch your arm.' Luna: Oh, fun! Raak je arm aan. Lucas: Raak je been aan. Luna: Raak je been aan. Lucas: Raak je oog aan. Luna: Raak je oog aan. Lucas, I can do this all day. Lucas: And you'll remember the words. Now, let's review one more time: de arm, het been, het oog. Luna: De arm, het been, het oog. Lucas: Perfect. That's it for today's episode. Practice pointing to these body parts and saying the Dutch words out loud. Luna: Yes, and we'll see you next time on Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Doei! Lucas: Doei!
