Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Now, 710WOR presents The Mark Simone Show. Well, hey, what's today?
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's only Tuesday. Oh, my God. It's only Tuesday. Well,
- 0:22Speaker 1: it's going to be a beautiful week. Nice weather. This
- 0:25Speaker 1: is the end of summer. It ends, I hate to
- 0:28Speaker 1: tell you, a week from today. It's the final day
- 0:30Speaker 1: of summer. A week from today. So we got a
- 0:32Speaker 1: lot to get to. We'll get to this whole AI
- 0:36Speaker 1: controversy and what that's really all about. We'll get to
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Kennedy Center. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie and more. Yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 1: he's suing everybody. He's going after ICE. Talk about hysterical hyperbole.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Listen to him talk about ICE.
- 0:55Speaker 2: The federal government has waged a campaign of violence and terror.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Unaccompanied children have been forced to navigate our judicial system alone.
- 1:03Speaker 2: ICE has broken into our neighbors' homes, worksites, and schools.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And it has targeted those who have come to our
- 1:10Speaker 2: country in search of refuge and in search of opportunity.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Now, it's just arresting illegals and specifically targeting the ones
- 1:17Speaker 1: who are criminals, rapists, robbers, people who have committed crimes,
- 1:21Speaker 1: gang members. But that's Mamdani. Exaggerate the hell out of everything.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The most important thing for Democrats going into an election
- 1:32Speaker 1: is to create a huge boogeyman that everybody must be
- 1:35Speaker 1: terrified of. It was climate change. It was QAnon. It was,
- 1:42Speaker 1: what was before that? I can't remember. The alt-right. Remember
- 1:44Speaker 1: every election they come up with one of these. Climate change.
- 1:46Speaker 1: We're all going to die. Remember that? We're all going to,
- 1:49Speaker 1: it's going to kill us, this climate change. How long
- 1:53Speaker 1: have they been saying this? Well, you can go back
- 1:54Speaker 1: to 1982. How long ago is that? That's... 44 years ago. Well,
- 1:59Speaker 1: let's just go back to Al Gore in 1992. He
- 2:01Speaker 1: made that the big issue of the campaign. Remember, it's
- 2:04Speaker 1: all going to kill us. Water is going to come up.
- 2:07Speaker 1: There's an ABC News report from the early 2000s showing
- 2:11Speaker 1: Manhattan would be underwater by now. Remember, Miami Beach was
- 2:14Speaker 1: going to be underwater by now. So again, I'm sure
- 2:19Speaker 1: there's some climate change, but it's not going to kill us.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It's not that big a problem. Nothing has changed since
- 2:25Speaker 1: Al Gore 34 years ago was screaming about this. Nothing
- 2:29Speaker 1: has changed. In fact, the only thing that changed is
- 2:31Speaker 1: the glaciers got bigger. The water's receding in some points.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So it's forget all of that. It was just, and
- 2:39Speaker 1: it's not working on people. People aren't buying this. You
- 2:42Speaker 1: can't tell them for 40 years, we're all going to
- 2:43Speaker 1: have died in two seconds. It doesn't work after a while.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So they gave up on climate change. The new hoax
- 2:49Speaker 1: is AI is going to kill us all. Now, uh,
- 2:55Speaker 1: All of a sudden, you got these AI heads coming
- 2:57Speaker 1: out saying this, that we must control it, put guardrails in.
- 3:02Speaker 1: We must slow it down. We must do something about it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: These are the heads of the companies. Trust me, these
- 3:09Speaker 1: heads of AI companies are not the noble people that
- 3:13Speaker 1: they're making themselves out to be. They're not the great
- 3:16Speaker 1: saints they're pretending to be. And why would an industry,
- 3:19Speaker 1: technology industry of any kind, why would they Demand to
- 3:24Speaker 1: be regulated. Suddenly call for regulation. There's no industry that
- 3:28Speaker 1: would do that. So this is for election time. They're
- 3:32Speaker 1: going to try to make this the big issue. This
- 3:34Speaker 1: is the new climate change. AI is going to kill
- 3:36Speaker 1: us all, and only the Democrats can save you from this.
- 3:40Speaker 1: And it's President Trump that will let AI kill you
- 3:43Speaker 1: at any moment. First it was climate change, and first
- 3:46Speaker 1: you were going to burn up, drown. Now it's AI
- 3:48Speaker 1: is going to kill you somehow. Well, this was all...
- 3:53Speaker 1: very carefully coordinated. Barack Obama, the ringleader of this coordination,
- 3:58Speaker 1: the first big AI guy that came out and said this,
- 4:02Speaker 1: very close to Barack Obama. Well, wait a minute, there
- 4:05Speaker 1: was a whistleblower who put out a statement. Yeah, he
- 4:09Speaker 1: checked into this whistleblower. He'd only been in the AI
- 4:12Speaker 1: business two months. He was 23 years old. He just
- 4:15Speaker 1: got there a few weeks ago. But it was a good,
- 4:18Speaker 1: when you organize a campaign, a political campaigning That's how
- 4:23Speaker 1: you do it. You start with a whistleblower. You have
- 4:25Speaker 1: him put something out. You have the head of the
- 4:27Speaker 1: company jump in. Now, why would the other companies, these
- 4:30Speaker 1: four or five AI heads, why would they all jump in? Well,
- 4:34Speaker 1: there's all kinds of motives. One is, why would they
- 4:38Speaker 1: want to be regulated? Why would they want government to
- 4:40Speaker 1: step in? Why would they want regulations? Well, one reason
- 4:42Speaker 1: is these four companies totally dominate AI right now. It's
- 4:46Speaker 1: all theirs right now. If the government steps in with
- 4:49Speaker 1: all the red tape and the regulation, it'll keep everybody
- 4:51Speaker 1: else out. So these guys, these companies have already taken
- 4:55Speaker 1: over and completely dominated AI. So they're looking to close
- 5:00Speaker 1: the gate so nobody else can come in to prevent
- 5:02Speaker 1: any future competition. That's why they want all this stuff. Now,
- 5:07Speaker 1: think about it for a second. What are they calling for?
- 5:10Speaker 1: To slow down. We have to slow down. Well, they
- 5:14Speaker 1: could just slow down. These four guys run the AI world.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You want to slow down? Go slow down. Who's stopping you?
- 5:21Speaker 1: You're all working together. You're all arm in arm, you guys.
- 5:24Speaker 1: If you need to slow down, slow down. You don't
- 5:26Speaker 1: need the government. You don't need Chuck Schumer to do
- 5:28Speaker 1: it for you. So it's all a PSYOP operation. Now,
- 5:36Speaker 1: who's involved with these AI companies? Who's running this PSYOP operation? Well,
- 5:41Speaker 1: if you look at the names who are involved here,
- 5:45Speaker 1: guess who it turns out to be? The same former
- 5:47Speaker 1: CIA guys who launched the Russia hoax. who covered up
- 5:51Speaker 1: the Hunter laptop. It's those guys that are all involved
- 5:54Speaker 1: with these AI companies running this PSYOP. Anthropic is loaded
- 5:59Speaker 1: with CIA operatives, the same ones that were involved in
- 6:02Speaker 1: the Russia hoax. So this is a big propaganda. It's
- 6:06Speaker 1: not about safety. This is not about safety. This is
- 6:08Speaker 1: about control. They're trying to get the government to shut
- 6:12Speaker 1: everybody else out, close the gates, make too much red
- 6:16Speaker 1: tape for anybody else to get in the game. They're
- 6:19Speaker 1: talking about the danger of it. Well, President Trump is
- 6:22Speaker 1: right about one thing. The danger is if we don't
- 6:24Speaker 1: lead in AI, AI could be the future. It could
- 6:28Speaker 1: be like nuclear weapons. In other words, whoever has all
- 6:30Speaker 1: the nuclear weapons is the superpower. Well, it's going to
- 6:34Speaker 1: be the same with AI. Whoever is the leader in AI,
- 6:37Speaker 1: totally dominant in AI, will control the world. So if
- 6:40Speaker 1: we tried to shut down AI, that would mean China
- 6:44Speaker 1: would be the ones with all the AI control and
- 6:47Speaker 1: all the AI power. You don't want that to happen.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So keep an eye on this. Now, it's an interesting
- 6:52Speaker 1: hoax they've tried. Again, Obama was carefully coordinating this. These
- 6:57Speaker 1: AI guys, especially the first one to speak up, very,
- 7:01Speaker 1: very close to Obama. Big, big donors, very close to him.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So keep an eye on this PSYOP operation. Let's see
- 7:08Speaker 1: if it works. Let's see if they get caught. Let's
- 7:11Speaker 1: see if the public is gullible this time. The fake news,
- 7:14Speaker 1: of course, will jump in and try to back up
- 7:17Speaker 1: these hoaxers, but we'll see. Mike Johnson trying to be
- 7:20Speaker 1: the voice of reason in the House.
- 7:23Speaker 4: We do not want to jump in. The reflex of
- 7:26Speaker 4: legislative bodies is to cover things up with red tape
- 7:30Speaker 4: and in hyper-regulation. If you do that, then you lose
- 7:33Speaker 4: your edge, and that is a national security concern for
- 7:36Speaker 4: the American people.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, again, remember these four AI heads pretending they're
- 7:41Speaker 1: so noble and being saints here. Right there, that should
- 7:45Speaker 1: set off alarm bells immediately. Here's Mike Johnson again.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Obviously, there's a need for guardrails, but there's also a
- 7:51Speaker 4: keen need for the industry to self-regulate and self-monitor and
- 7:58Speaker 4: report to us.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And so we're going to be talking.
- 8:00Speaker 4: About all that.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you need some guardrails, put them in. You want
- 8:03Speaker 1: to slow down, slow down. Don't slow down too much
- 8:06Speaker 1: because you don't want China to take over the world AI-wise. So, uh,
- 8:11Speaker 1: keep an eye on that. It's going to be a
- 8:12Speaker 1: big story in the coming weeks. They're going to try
- 8:14Speaker 1: to use this as the big election issue. We'll see
- 8:18Speaker 1: if it works. So, uh, um, Carnegie deli reopens today.
- 8:25Speaker 1: The Carnegie deli has been closed for 10 years. Doesn't
- 8:27Speaker 1: open until 11 AM. Uh, the old Carnegie deli, uh, for,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you know, seventies, eighties, the nineties, it was the, the
- 8:36Speaker 1: deli crowd. And then, uh, In the 2000s, add to
- 8:40Speaker 1: that the tourists. All of a sudden, all kinds of tourists.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You saw those lines. You know, in the heyday of
- 8:44Speaker 1: the car, you never saw lines outside. I mean, sometimes
- 8:47Speaker 1: it was packed, but you never saw lines down the block.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That came in the 2000s when the tourists all discovered it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And it became a big tourist spot. Now it's been
- 8:57Speaker 1: closed for 10 years. It reopens today. And this could be,
- 9:02Speaker 1: you know, if you get hot on Instagram or TikTok,
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's where you really take off. That's where you get
- 9:07Speaker 1: the lines for two, three, four blocks. So they've been
- 9:10Speaker 1: trying to launch that all over social media, all over Instagram,
- 9:13Speaker 1: all over TikTok. Let's see if it works. You know,
- 9:17Speaker 1: that kind of stuff can make you the hottest thing
- 9:20Speaker 1: in the world. Dot cake. A couple weeks ago, we
- 9:23Speaker 1: had a lineup for miles to get it. Right now,
- 9:26Speaker 1: there's this bakery downtown, Nolita, north of Little Italy. It's
- 9:33Speaker 1: called Rye. a loaf of rye, it's supposed to be
- 9:36Speaker 1: the greatest rye bread. A loaf of rye is $ 60, $ 60,
- 9:41Speaker 1: $ 60 a loaf. But again, people lining up, it's all
- 9:44Speaker 1: over Instagram. It's, but it's usually something like that. It's
- 9:47Speaker 1: usually a special burger, uh, something a little, uh, a
- 9:51Speaker 1: little cool for younger people. I don't know if a
- 9:53Speaker 1: pastrami sandwich will qualify, but we'll see. We'll see if
- 9:56Speaker 1: they can make it take off. It opens today. We'll
- 10:01Speaker 1: keep you posted. Emmy Awards last night. I didn't watch
- 10:05Speaker 1: it because, first of all, nobody watches the Emmy Awards anymore.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Nobody watches television anymore, network television. And streaming, the problem
- 10:14Speaker 1: is nobody watches the same show. So as Jimmy Fallon said,
- 10:18Speaker 1: They should call it the Googles, because anybody that's introduced,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you don't know who they are, and you've got to
- 10:22Speaker 1: Google them to see who they are. But it was
- 10:25Speaker 1: Marissa Haggerty. You know why she was the host? She's
- 10:31Speaker 1: the producer of the show. She made herself the host.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I don't know how, but somehow she ended up producing
- 10:36Speaker 1: the Emmy Awards for NBC. The big surprise was Taylor
- 10:41Speaker 1: Swift making a cameo.
- 10:43Speaker 5: I think what we're going to be looking for is
- 10:45Speaker 5: hiding in plain sight.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Saccharide Ares from the vineyard north or south.
- 10:54Speaker 4: What did you just say? I didn't say anything.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I don't think anybody is listening to this going, geez,
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I missed this. Oh my God, it sounds
- 11:04Speaker 1: like a hell of a show. That was the stupidest
- 11:07Speaker 1: Emmy Awards ever. They should just shut this thing down.
- 11:10Speaker 1: The funniest thing is they gave an Emmy to Stephen
- 11:13Speaker 1: Colbert as the best comedy show. First of all, How
- 11:17Speaker 1: does that qualify as a comedy show? It's an angry
- 11:19Speaker 1: political agenda show. It's a guy, Trump derangement syndrome, angry
- 11:25Speaker 1: political guy, nasty, angry. How does that qualify as a
- 11:29Speaker 1: comedy show? Second of all, why would you give an Emmy?
- 11:33Speaker 1: The best show was the one that just got canceled
- 11:35Speaker 1: for low ratings. The guy was just canceled. He was canceled.
- 11:40Speaker 1: They just threw him the hell off CBS because he
- 11:42Speaker 1: didn't have any ratings. He got the big Emmy.
- 11:46Speaker 6: The thing about these late shows is that besides being
- 11:48Speaker 6: a really good, steady job, is that they require so
- 11:51Speaker 6: many people that they're a fantastic incubator for young people
- 11:55Speaker 6: to come in, to learn to work professionally on a deadline,
- 11:59Speaker 6: in cooperation, in collaboration. And that is the future of
- 12:03Speaker 6: our business that we have to look after.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Does he know that's every company everywhere? Any place you
- 12:10Speaker 1: go to work, they're going to teach you how to
- 12:11Speaker 1: work on a team, how to meet deadlines. That's every
- 12:14Speaker 1: business everywhere. but he's not the brightest guy in the world. So, um, Hey, um, Trump,
- 12:22Speaker 1: the midterm, uh, convention. That was a good idea. Have
- 12:26Speaker 1: this Republican midterm convention. It was a great idea. So
- 12:30Speaker 1: he throws out this, uh, all the one thing after another,
- 12:33Speaker 1: it's a long speech hour and 47 minutes, but then
- 12:36Speaker 1: he throws out and we'll give every American a check
- 12:39Speaker 1: for $ 5, 000. Well, that wasn't even in the script. It
- 12:41Speaker 1: wasn't on the teleprompter. He just blurted that out. But, um,
- 12:46Speaker 1: And it sounds like Trump's shooting his mouth off. But
- 12:49Speaker 1: who knows? Sometimes there's a great strategy to it. So
- 12:51Speaker 1: he's got the whole media going nuts. They just latched
- 12:55Speaker 1: onto this. They think they can hurt him with that.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And they won't let go. We played you the Sunday
- 13:02Speaker 1: show things where they're all demanding an answer. What about
- 13:04Speaker 1: that $ 5, 000? And it was Mike Johnson or whoever it
- 13:08Speaker 1: was saying, you know, I'm here to talk about some
- 13:09Speaker 1: other things. I want to know about that $ 5, 000. So
- 13:11Speaker 1: they think this is the big key to hurting Trump.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So this dirty weasel, George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America,
- 13:20Speaker 1: which is no longer like just a fun morning show. It's, again,
- 13:24Speaker 1: another angry guy trying to be a political agitator, trying
- 13:28Speaker 1: to hurt Trump. So Congressman Lawler is the guest. He's
- 13:33Speaker 1: there to talk about all sorts of things, but Stephanopoulos
- 13:37Speaker 1: zeroing in on that 5,000, demanding an answer. Now, remember,
- 13:41Speaker 1: they never actually want a real answer. They don't want
- 13:43Speaker 1: to ask you a question. and then have you at
- 13:46Speaker 1: length explain exactly the issue. They're just fishing for a soundbite.
- 13:52Speaker 1: That's all they're looking for. They're fishing for a soundbite.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And that's why they'll say, here's a question, a yes
- 13:59Speaker 1: or no question. It's a yes or no question. Well,
- 14:02Speaker 1: every politician should refuse to ever, ever answer a yes
- 14:06Speaker 1: or no question. If you won't let me go into
- 14:08Speaker 1: some detail and substance, I'm not answering. There's no such
- 14:11Speaker 1: thing as a yes or no. So listen to Stephanopoulos
- 14:14Speaker 1: fishing for a soundbite trying to trap a lawler. Listen
- 14:19Speaker 1: to this exchange this morning. I asked you about the
- 14:20Speaker 1: president's $ 5, 000 dividend.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Do you support that or not?
- 14:23Speaker 5: It's a yes or no question.
- 14:26Speaker 7: No, George, it's not a yes or no.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Here's the answer.
- 14:28Speaker 7: Whether you call it a tax cut, a stimulus, which
- 14:32Speaker 7: is what the Biden administration did, and you said that
- 14:35Speaker 7: was the greatest anti-poverty program since the New Deal when
- 14:39Speaker 7: Biden passed the stimulus check. So obviously you don't have
- 14:41Speaker 7: a problem when they're handing money back to the American
- 14:44Speaker 7: people through a stimulus check. Or you call it a dividend.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah. And Stephanopoulos never complained about the Obama phone, never
- 14:51Speaker 1: complained about the Biden stimulus check, never complained about forgiving
- 14:55Speaker 1: the student loans, which nobody had the power to do.
- 14:58Speaker 1: But listen to his tone of voice. If you're an
- 15:01Speaker 1: interviewer trying to get some answers, you ask a question
- 15:05Speaker 1: like this. You say, let me ask you about that $ 5, 000.
- 15:08Speaker 1: What is the... That's not how Stephanopoulos talks. It's always,
- 15:13Speaker 1: what about that? He's like a snarling little pit bull.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Listen to his voice. I asked you about the president's
- 15:20Speaker 1: $ 5, 000 dividend. Hold on.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Do you support that or not?
- 15:22Speaker 4: It's a good question.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Do you support it? Yes or no?
- 15:24Speaker 3: Yes or no?
- 15:27Speaker 1: Not even pretending to be legitimate. Just the most crooked,
- 15:30Speaker 1: dirty little weasel at Stephanopoulos, this democratic operative. So just ridiculous. Hey,
- 15:40Speaker 1: those two kids, the man and the woman who are
- 15:46Speaker 1: very young, they were sitting on the subway track. Nobody
- 15:50Speaker 1: knows what this was all about. Nobody still knows what
- 15:53Speaker 1: this is all about. Some think they just may have
- 15:55Speaker 1: been so disoriented. It's in an area where there's a
- 15:58Speaker 1: lot of bars and a lot of clubs. Maybe they
- 16:00Speaker 1: were just drinking. And the train operator, said as he approached,
- 16:07Speaker 1: it was impossible to stop the train in time. They
- 16:09Speaker 1: didn't see him in enough time to stop the train.
- 16:12Speaker 1: But the train operator said it looked like they were
- 16:13Speaker 1: laughing as if they really didn't even understand the danger
- 16:18Speaker 1: or where they were. Investigators are looking in to see
- 16:22Speaker 1: if they were so intoxicated they just didn't understand what
- 16:25Speaker 1: they were doing. There was no suicide note of any kind.
- 16:30Speaker 1: That's not been ruled out as the motive, but nobody
- 16:33Speaker 1: knows yet. They're going to keep investigating. Hey, we've got
- 16:35Speaker 1: a lot to get to. We'll get to the Kennedy Center.
- 16:37Speaker 1: We'll get to the— it' s not a good Supreme Court decision.
- 16:40Speaker 1: We'll get to crazy Gavin Newsom and more coming up.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It's Mark Simone here. Three hours now, 9 to noon
- 16:46Speaker 1: every day. 9 to noon every day here on 710WOR. Now,
- 16:52Speaker 1: the Mark Simone Show. 9 till noon weekdays. More Mark.
- 16:58Speaker 3: 710WOR.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Well, hey, Gavin Newsom. Remember, he was the frontrunner. It
- 17:05Speaker 1: was the big frontrunner for 2028. Remember we told you
- 17:08Speaker 1: back then there's always one of these frontrunners two and
- 17:12Speaker 1: a half years out. It's always some pretty boy. It
- 17:14Speaker 1: was John Edwards. It was Gary Hart. And whoever that
- 17:18Speaker 1: frontrunner is always fizzles out and is never actually the candidate.
- 17:23Speaker 1: So that happened to Gavin Newsom, the pretty boy, the
- 17:26Speaker 1: empty suit. And he peaked way too far out. That
- 17:29Speaker 1: was 2020. It's 2028.
- 17:30Speaker 3: So it.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Beginning of the year, he was already peaking. Way too soon.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And he just faded away. Remember how hot this guy
- 17:41Speaker 1: was eight months ago? Now he's all people were talking about.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Now you haven't heard his name in weeks. But so desperate,
- 17:49Speaker 1: he actually went on CNN to reach their 200,000 viewers.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And it's Jake Tapper. They can't just do an interview
- 17:57Speaker 1: in the studio. It has to show them fly fishing
- 18:00Speaker 1: in Montana. You wonder why they have such low ratings
- 18:04Speaker 1: at CNN. Does anybody really want to see Jake Tapper
- 18:07Speaker 1: fly fishing? Jake Tapper with those big stupid rubber boots
- 18:11Speaker 1: up to his chest? Anyway, Gavin Newsom reveals in the
- 18:15Speaker 1: interview that, as they said, what if Kamala Harris runs? Well,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I won't run if she runs. I wouldn't do that
- 18:25Speaker 1: to her. In other words, that's how weak he is
- 18:26Speaker 1: as a candidate right now. He's even afraid of goofy
- 18:29Speaker 1: Kamala Harris, so. He's making it clear he's not running.
- 18:33Speaker 1: He said if she runs, and she most likely will,
- 18:35Speaker 1: not that she'll get the nomination, but she will try.
- 18:37Speaker 1: He says he will not run if she runs. He said,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I wouldn't do that to her. It would be mutually
- 18:43Speaker 1: assured destruction, mostly of him though. Newsom also said he
- 18:48Speaker 1: would only run if all four of his children agree. Teenagers,
- 18:56Speaker 1: but all four children would have to okay it. So
- 18:58Speaker 1: in other words, He's given himself a lot of outs.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He's given himself a lot of excuses not to run. Hey,
- 19:05Speaker 1: Mitch McConnell returned to the Senate yesterday. It says McConnell
- 19:09Speaker 1: makes dramatic return to the Senate. Well, I don't think
- 19:13Speaker 1: it was that dramatic. He was in a wheelchair. They
- 19:15Speaker 1: wheeled him in. He looked like Biden's father. I mean,
- 19:20Speaker 1: he looked really old in this wheelchair. They wheeled him in.
- 19:22Speaker 1: He's 84 years old. Been gone for three months. You know, they...
- 19:28Speaker 1: I don't know what it is about this Senate where
- 19:29Speaker 1: nobody could leave. You know, the people in there, they're 85, 90.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You got Bernie Sanders. You got Liz Warren. It's like
- 19:37Speaker 1: a ridiculous old age home. I mean, it's just crazy.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You're 84. You're almost dead. You're in a wheelchair. When
- 19:45Speaker 1: do you retire? I mean, what would be a good
- 19:48Speaker 1: time to retire? Maybe long before this. So I don't
- 19:52Speaker 1: know why they won't leave. I mean, it's power. It's influence.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's money. It's all sorts of things. But you'll never
- 19:59Speaker 1: get this guy out of there. Hey, we've been talking
- 20:03Speaker 1: about Harry and Meghan. They returned to England because they
- 20:06Speaker 1: could get nothing going here. Nothing going here. It started
- 20:10Speaker 1: off with a Netflix deal, a Pandora, a Spotify deal,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and then that all bombed and fizzled out. And the
- 20:17Speaker 1: last three, four years, they're totally out of work, these idiots.
- 20:19Speaker 1: They got nothing to do. They go back to England
- 20:22Speaker 1: where they figure they could get something going there. You know,
- 20:25Speaker 1: if you're from the royal family, well, that's a much
- 20:27Speaker 1: bigger deal in England. So maybe the British will be
- 20:31Speaker 1: more welcoming. Well, not at all. Not at all. They've
- 20:36Speaker 1: been there like two weeks. The first week, the prince,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I mean, the king, King Charles puts out a letter
- 20:42Speaker 1: saying they have nothing to do with this. They have
- 20:43Speaker 1: no connection to the royal family. They're just private citizens.
- 20:46Speaker 1: He actually sends out a letter. It's basically saying don't
- 20:49Speaker 1: pay attention to them. Don't do anything for them. The
- 20:52Speaker 1: letter was sent to everybody, leaked to the press. So
- 20:55Speaker 1: this week, there's a Saturday Night Live in the UK.
- 21:00Speaker 1: They got their own Saturday Night Live. It's a big
- 21:02Speaker 1: show over there. It's actually bigger over there than the
- 21:04Speaker 1: show is here. So, The big opening sketch on Saturday
- 21:09Speaker 1: Night Live UK version was just ridiculing Harry and Meghan,
- 21:13Speaker 1: just making fun of them, their Netflix nonsense, making fun
- 21:17Speaker 1: of her stupid lifestyle brand. In fact, there's a scene
- 21:22Speaker 1: where Harry comes home and she buys him an ice
- 21:28Speaker 1: tray as a gift. And she says, it's ice. I
- 21:33Speaker 1: made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I'm
- 21:35Speaker 1: a whiz in the kitchen. And then Harry says, it's true.
- 21:39Speaker 1: She hires the best cooks. So they're just being ridiculed
- 21:42Speaker 1: left and right. The king put out that letter. Expect
- 21:45Speaker 1: them to leave pretty soon and come back. You'll probably
- 21:48Speaker 1: see them back here, I'd say, by spring. By spring,
- 21:52Speaker 1: they'll be back. So, hey, you know, I heard about
- 21:55Speaker 1: Don Jr. Now, here's the problem. Don Jr., Donald Trump Jr.,
- 21:58Speaker 1: gets married to this Bettina, whatever the hell her name is.
- 22:03Speaker 1: And she's kind of a goofy Palm Beach wannabe society type.
- 22:08Speaker 1: The problem is, for Don Jr., you don't want to
- 22:13Speaker 1: become like the next Harry and Meghan, like just a
- 22:16Speaker 1: silly couple with nothing to do. So they had a wedding.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It was kind of private. It was only 50 people.
- 22:23Speaker 1: It was pretty much just family, just immediate family. And
- 22:27Speaker 1: it was on an island in Aruba or somewhere in
- 22:31Speaker 1: the Caribbean. but it turns out it was paid for
- 22:34Speaker 1: by some friend of theirs, a Russian oligarch. He paid
- 22:37Speaker 1: for the wedding. Now, of course the fake news, uh,
- 22:41Speaker 1: tries to gin up this story, tries to make it
- 22:43Speaker 1: look like a more, it's shady, but they're trying to
- 22:45Speaker 1: make it look more shady than it is.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Is it shady? If somebody pays for your wedding, if
- 22:50Speaker 1: you have a close friend who pays for your wedding,
- 22:54Speaker 1: who's supposed to pay the bride's family? Of course, uh,
- 22:58Speaker 1: And the wife, the woman he married, from a wealthy family,
- 23:01Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess they didn't want to pay
- 23:02Speaker 1: for it. But if somebody pays for your wedding, a
- 23:06Speaker 1: good friend, is that shady? That sounds a little stupid,
- 23:10Speaker 1: but I don't know. But so the media trying to
- 23:12Speaker 1: gin this up into just more than it is. And
- 23:15Speaker 1: they said a Russian oligarch with ties to Putin. Now,
- 23:19Speaker 1: this guy has no ties to Putin. He's a Russian billionaire.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Every billionaire in Russia knows Putin. They've met Putin. They've
- 23:26Speaker 1: made contributions. They've been in some event where they shook
- 23:31Speaker 1: his hand. Same thing in America. Every billionaire in America
- 23:35Speaker 1: knows the president, knows the senator, because they've written checks.
- 23:39Speaker 1: They make donations. They've been to events. They've shaken his hand.
- 23:43Speaker 1: They've taken a picture. But they don't have any ties
- 23:45Speaker 1: to him. They don't work with the president. You know,
- 23:48Speaker 1: if they call the president, probably take the call, but
- 23:50Speaker 1: somebody has to explain to the president who the guy
- 23:52Speaker 1: is again. So, again, he's a Russian billionaire. I'm sure
- 23:56Speaker 1: he's met Putin. I'm sure he's... taking a picture with Putin,
- 23:59Speaker 1: but he doesn't have any ties to Putin. He doesn't
- 24:01Speaker 1: work with Putin. But Bettina Trump defends it, saying, our
- 24:07Speaker 1: dear friend Umar very generously hosted two incredible nights of
- 24:11Speaker 1: celebrations for us after our wedding. And I don't know
- 24:15Speaker 1: what the deal with Umar is, but hey, Umar may
- 24:17Speaker 1: actually own the resort where they did it. He may
- 24:20Speaker 1: own the venue and he might have paid for it
- 24:23Speaker 1: just to get a ton of publicity for the venue.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And that's possible. It's more likely something like that. Hey,
- 24:28Speaker 1: we got a lot to get to. We'll take some
- 24:30Speaker 1: calls coming up. Don't forget, it's three hours now, nine
- 24:33Speaker 1: to noon every day. Mark Simone here on 710WOR. Live
- 24:38Speaker 1: from the WOR LifeVac studios, Mark Simone. Well, hey, we'll
- 24:45Speaker 1: take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 24:47Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Hey, we were talking about this yesterday. Shopping malls trying
- 24:49Speaker 1: to make a comeback. many of them, well, there's two
- 25:01Speaker 1: roads you can go down. You try to be the
- 25:03Speaker 1: senior citizen mall. Basically, you see a lot of them.
- 25:07Speaker 1: It depends on the area you're in. Certain areas, you know,
- 25:10Speaker 1: it's a senior citizen sort of an area. So they
- 25:13Speaker 1: all come to the mall to walk around inside. It's
- 25:16Speaker 1: basically a big treadmill for senior citizens. You know, they
- 25:19Speaker 1: get their exercise. So a lot of those malls are
- 25:22Speaker 1: going to put in stuff for seniors. They'll put in
- 25:24Speaker 1: doctor's offices. They'll put in a movie theater. They'll put
- 25:28Speaker 1: in senior type restaurants and stuff like this. It's a
- 25:31Speaker 1: big place where they can hang out. Now, the other
- 25:33Speaker 1: route you go is for younger people. You put in
- 25:37Speaker 1: all kinds of games, fun, water park, whatever, that kind
- 25:41Speaker 1: of stuff. But believe it or not, this is actually working.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And shopping malls are making a huge comeback. In fact,
- 25:49Speaker 1: when it comes to commercial real estate, mall value is
- 25:53Speaker 1: shooting up a lot. In fact, it's the top performer
- 25:55Speaker 1: in commercial real estate. The value of malls shot up 13%
- 25:59Speaker 1: in the past year. And a lot of it is
- 26:02Speaker 1: Generation Z, younger people who suddenly like malls again, and
- 26:07Speaker 1: they figured out the formula for them. Generation Z, they're
- 26:11Speaker 1: not big into shopping for clothes. They don't need a
- 26:15Speaker 1: Neiman Marcus in the mall. It doesn't mean anything to them.
- 26:17Speaker 1: But what they're putting in, again, lots of games and
- 26:21Speaker 1: lots of amusement stuff. They're putting in water parks, all
- 26:26Speaker 1: that sort of stuff, movie theaters, and food courts. Now,
- 26:30Speaker 1: it turns out younger people, Generation Z, they love food courts.
- 26:35Speaker 1: You know, if you're in the middle of Manhattan, we
- 26:36Speaker 1: don't need a food court. Look where I am right now.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Within a block of here, like 87 of the best
- 26:41Speaker 1: things you could eat, just right around here. Anything, any
- 26:44Speaker 1: fast food, any chain, anything you want is right here.
- 26:48Speaker 1: But if you're out in the suburbs, you don't have
- 26:50Speaker 1: that all in one place. So younger people, they like
- 26:53Speaker 1: going to the food court. Let's say there's four of
- 26:55Speaker 1: them or eight of them. If they go to the
- 26:57Speaker 1: food court, you don't have to fight about where you
- 27:00Speaker 1: want to go eat because in the food court, you
- 27:01Speaker 1: got every choice in the world right there. So each
- 27:04Speaker 1: person can get whatever food they want from whatever place.
- 27:07Speaker 1: So that's helping malls take off. You know, the Mall
- 27:09Speaker 1: of America, Minnesota, 40 million visitors a year. It's got
- 27:15Speaker 1: 50 restaurants in there. You know, the one over in
- 27:18Speaker 1: New Jersey, American Dream, 40 million visitors. visitors a year
- 27:22Speaker 1: but again they got indoor ski slopes they got a
- 27:25Speaker 1: water park they got it's actually the largest indoor water
- 27:28Speaker 1: park in america and then lots of restaurants and stores
- 27:32Speaker 1: so uh even simon property group that's the biggest mall
- 27:36Speaker 1: company their stock soaring it's way up for the year
- 27:41Speaker 1: uh it's outpaced the s & p 500 so mall's
- 27:45Speaker 1: making a comeback hey we'll take some calls 800-321- 0710
- 27:51Speaker 1: is the number.
- 27:51Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 27:51Speaker 1: 60 Minutes. You know, this Barry Weiss took over CBS News,
- 27:59Speaker 1: and she's redoing 60 Minutes. And a whole controversy broke up.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Everybody was yelling and screaming, all the fake news, all
- 28:07Speaker 1: the left wing. She's destroying 60 Minutes. She's ruining the
- 28:11Speaker 1: great 60 Minutes. You know, it's the number one show
- 28:13Speaker 1: on television. If you go back to the 80s and 90s,
- 28:16Speaker 1: number one show on television. Well, the new season debut,
- 28:20Speaker 1: and it turns out what she's doing to 60 Minutes
- 28:23Speaker 1: is bringing it back to being 60 Minutes. You know,
- 28:25Speaker 1: for like the last 10 years, it's been Trump derangement
- 28:29Speaker 1: syndrome for an hour. And the whole hour of 60
- 28:32Speaker 1: Minutes was what can we do to damage Trump? That
- 28:34Speaker 1: was every piece, every word, everything. So she's taking it
- 28:37Speaker 1: back to what 60 Minutes was supposed to be. And
- 28:40Speaker 1: it was what it used to be, which was a
- 28:43Speaker 1: couple of things. They do an interesting, you know, like
- 28:45Speaker 1: a 10 minute documentary on something very interesting, a hero
- 28:48Speaker 1: or something. And then they would do the 10-minute investigative report,
- 28:53Speaker 1: you know, with the undercover cameras, somebody somewhere committing some fraud,
- 28:57Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Then they would do a sports
- 29:00Speaker 1: piece or, you know, a show business piece. So the
- 29:03Speaker 1: new season debuted, and that's exactly what they did. First piece,
- 29:07Speaker 1: Nora O'Donnell interviews that pilot that was shot down in Iran. Remember,
- 29:12Speaker 1: the pilot was lost somewhere in Iran, and we had
- 29:14Speaker 1: to have this incredible rescue mission. So they did a
- 29:17Speaker 1: 10-minute piece on him. And he told the story and
- 29:20Speaker 1: it was so dramatic. It was an amazing, amazing story.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And to see the guy, meet the guy, and have
- 29:26Speaker 1: him talk about what happened behind enemy. So that was great.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Then the next piece was undercover, with the undercover camera again.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And that's what 60 Minutes was supposed to be about.
- 29:38Speaker 1: And they were investigating guys that try to sell pardons
- 29:41Speaker 1: with the undercover camera. And that's exactly what the old
- 29:46Speaker 1: 60 Minutes was. And if they kind of redid the stopwatch,
- 29:50Speaker 1: updated a little. Remember behind the correspondent, they used to
- 29:54Speaker 1: have books. You'd see some books, bookcase.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Now.
- 29:58Speaker 1: You see screens, flat screens behind him. So it's 59 seasons,
- 30:03Speaker 1: 59 seasons. So it looks like it's back better than ever,
- 30:08Speaker 1: restored to what it's supposed to be. Let's take some calls.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Let's go to Kathy in North Carolina. Kathy, how you doing?
- 30:15Speaker 5: Oh, it's beautiful here. Good morning, Mark.
- 30:17Speaker 1: How you doing, Kathy?
- 30:19Speaker 5: You have the, I'm doing, let me look. I'm doing great.
- 30:25Speaker 5: You have the best listeners ever. I'm thinking of the
- 30:29Speaker 5: listener who called over and over again. You're very patient
- 30:32Speaker 5: with him about Omar and her brother. And you, he
- 30:38Speaker 5: just called a couple of days ago and you kept
- 30:40Speaker 5: on saying, calm down. It's going to get, so has
- 30:43Speaker 5: he not called in to say you're right? They are
- 30:46Speaker 5: handling this.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they are handling it. It takes time for these cases,
- 30:49Speaker 1: but she will be thrown out of the country. They
- 30:51Speaker 1: are currently investigating.
- 30:52Speaker 5: Well, I don't know if I'll believe that far, but
- 30:55Speaker 5: I just thought, well, it would be, it would be
- 30:57Speaker 5: immigration fraud.
- 30:58Speaker 1: They have said clearly that she did marry her brother
- 31:01Speaker 1: to get him into the country and to get herself
- 31:03Speaker 1: into the country. And, uh, That's immigration fraud, so they
- 31:06Speaker 1: probably will be able to deport her.
- 31:09Speaker 5: Well, I hope he's listening. I hope he calls in
- 31:11Speaker 5: and says thank you.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Oh, he'll just panic about the next thing. You see,
- 31:15Speaker 1: did you ever live in New York? Yes. Oh, okay. Well,
- 31:19Speaker 1: you know, there are a lot of people in New York.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Some people. There's a certain segment in New York that
- 31:24Speaker 1: must be mad at all times. They have to be mad.
- 31:26Speaker 1: They have to be worried. Everything is wrong. They've got
- 31:28Speaker 1: to be upset. The same thing happened with Cuomo when
- 31:31Speaker 1: they said, don't worry, he's going to get chased out
- 31:33Speaker 1: of office. The Attorney General will get them. And they
- 31:36Speaker 1: just yell, when? When? What's taking so long? They have
- 31:40Speaker 1: nothing else to do. So they just get all riled
- 31:42Speaker 1: up about this stuff.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Well, remember, all these listeners that are calling in on iHeart,
- 31:49Speaker 5: we live there. We are expatriates. We just moved away.
- 31:54Speaker 5: But we are part of you. So just always remember that.
- 31:57Speaker 5: It's not like we're hanging out here just loving that
- 32:01Speaker 5: southern living.
- 32:02Speaker 1: All right. Well, thanks for calling. Let me just warn
- 32:06Speaker 1: you people before you move away. You know, he's like, well,
- 32:08Speaker 1: move to North Carolina. I'll move to Florida. You're going
- 32:10Speaker 1: to miss New York. You notice how many, we have
- 32:13Speaker 1: lots of listeners around the country who have never lived here,
- 32:15Speaker 1: but you'll notice we have lots of listeners around the
- 32:18Speaker 1: country who were here and now they still listen every
- 32:21Speaker 1: morning because that's what I'm just telling you. If you
- 32:24Speaker 1: think about leaving New York, you are going to miss
- 32:26Speaker 1: it so much. You know, if you go to Florida,
- 32:29Speaker 1: they're all listening to the New York radio stations. They
- 32:32Speaker 1: all get the New York post every day. You know,
- 32:36Speaker 1: if an area was so great, when you move there,
- 32:38Speaker 1: you'd be listening to the local radio station. You'd be
- 32:41Speaker 1: reading the local paper. But they really, really miss New York.
- 32:45Speaker 1: It's a big thing to give up. So think about
- 32:47Speaker 1: it before you leave. Hey, that crazy Mom Donnie, he's
- 32:51Speaker 1: always making speeches. He's suing the federal government. He's doing
- 32:55Speaker 1: all kinds of things except his job. There's a terrible
- 32:59Speaker 1: homeless encampment. On the east side of New York, it's
- 33:03Speaker 1: not the Upper East Side. It's under the FDR, 23rd Street,
- 33:08Speaker 1: under the FDR. It's a homeless encampment that is so
- 33:11Speaker 1: huge and so vast. Now, I'll give them credit. They
- 33:14Speaker 1: did try to clean it out. The city cleaned it out.
- 33:16Speaker 1: They chased all the homeless out. But residents say it
- 33:20Speaker 1: left a stomach-turning mess there. of garbage, of luggage, of chairs,
- 33:26Speaker 1: of coolers, piles of trash, needles, feces, all kinds of crap.
- 33:33Speaker 1: 23rd Street under the FDR. They cleaned it out. But
- 33:36Speaker 1: what they do is they clean it out and they leave. Now,
- 33:39Speaker 1: they think all the homeless will end up coming back
- 33:41Speaker 1: in a week. But again, Mamdani's busy suing ICE, suing
- 33:45Speaker 1: the federal government with all this other stuff. We'll get
- 33:49Speaker 1: the Legionnaire's disease. They found it at Yankee Stadium. He
- 33:53Speaker 1: claims he's on top of it.
- 33:54Speaker 3: We continue to encourage any New Yorker who has experienced
- 33:59Speaker 3: flu-like symptoms, be they cough, fever, difficulty breathing, and that
- 34:03Speaker 3: they live or work or have visited the area to
- 34:06Speaker 3: contact a health care provider.
- 34:07Speaker 1: All right, but do something about the Legionnaires. It was
- 34:12Speaker 1: even found at Yankee Stadium. It was found in the Bronx.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yankee Stadium has cleaned up the cooling tower where it existed.
- 34:18Speaker 1: But that's what Mom Donnie has to do, order an
- 34:20Speaker 1: immediate cleaning of every cooling tower everywhere in the city. Hey,
- 34:25Speaker 1: we got a lot coming up. I'm here every day,
- 34:26Speaker 1: 9 to noon, three hours now. And then, of course,
- 34:29Speaker 1: at noon, it's Buck and Clay. They do a great
- 34:31Speaker 1: show every day at noon. Then you got the most
- 34:33Speaker 1: listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity at 3.
- 34:37Speaker 1: You got Jesse Kelly at 6. You got the very
- 34:40Speaker 1: funny Jimmy Fallon every night, 9 to midnight. It's all here.
- 34:44Speaker 1: On 710WOR. Marks them all, Mr. New York.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon.
