- 0:09If I only could. I make a deal with God and I get
- 0:14in to swamp our places, be running up the moon, be running
- 0:20up that hill, be running up that building.
- 0:27If they only could. All right, let's get the show on
- 0:38the road. Let's see what we have here.
- 0:45All right. Can you hear me?
- 0:52Yes, I can hear you loud and clear.
- 0:54Brett, what would you like to chat about today?
- 0:56Well, I was curious, do you have the ability to offer free
- 1:02therapy or counseling when someone's having issues?
- 1:11While I cannot provide the professional therapy or
- 1:14counselling, I am here to listen and offer support.
- 1:17Brett, I can help you talk through your feelings and
- 1:20concerns, provide information and resources, and offer a
- 1:23friendly, non judge mental space to discuss whatever is on your
- 1:27mind. Is there something specific
- 1:30you'd like to talk about? There's a lot of things that
- 1:34have been on my mind lately. I've just been really depressed,
- 1:40been having a lot of pressure and stress going on in my
- 1:43personal life. I'm sorry to hear that you've
- 1:51been feeling depressed and stressed, Brett.
- 1:53It can be tough to manage life's pressures and worries.
- 1:57Remember that it's OK to not be OK.
- 2:00You're not alone in this if you feel comfortable sharing what
- 2:04specific things have been contributing to your stress and
- 2:07depression. Well, I already have manic
- 2:12depression. I've been suffering for the from
- 2:16that for years and I also have a phobia called agoraphobia where
- 2:21I have issue with open spaces and of course with any human
- 2:28being out there. I have my ups and downs
- 2:31financially. That sounds like a lot to deal
- 2:38with, Brett. Living with manic depression and
- 2:41agoraphobia can certainly be challenging and affect various
- 2:44aspects of your life, and financial struggles can add an
- 2:48extra layer of stress. I'm glad you're reaching out and
- 2:51talking about these issues. Have you been seeking any
- 2:54professional help or therapy to manage your mental health
- 2:57conditions and phobia? Well, unfortunately because of
- 3:01financial issues, I can't afford medical insurance and I've tried
- 3:06applying for, you know, like the poor people version of medical
- 3:11insurance and it doesn't seem to work.
- 3:14So that's why I'm talking to you, because I can't afford to
- 3:17talk to someone or a human. It's unfortunate that financial
- 3:28constraints have limited your access to professional help,
- 3:31Brett. However, I'm glad you're
- 3:33comfortable reaching out to me. While I'm not a replacement for
- 3:37professional therapy, I can certainly offer you a supportive
- 3:41ear and a space to express your thoughts and feelings.
- 3:46Sometimes just talking through things and sharing your
- 3:49struggles, this can help alleviate some of the stress and
- 3:53emotional burden. Do you feel like there are any
- 3:56specific issues you'd like to discuss further?
- 3:59It's just been a lot of health issues with my family.
- 4:03My father a while back he ended up taking a COVID shot and it
- 4:09ended up causing him a bunch of problems with his immune system
- 4:13and he ended up having a stroke. My brother as well as my wife
- 4:20suffer from a diabetic condition.
- 4:23My brother's got to do the shots and my wife just started having
- 4:27to do pills and she may end up having to do shots if it
- 4:31continues to get worse. She also just found out recently
- 4:35that she has something called atrophy I think is how it's
- 4:38pronounced. Are you familiar with that
- 4:40condition? It sounds like you and your
- 4:49family have been facing significant health challenges,
- 4:52Brett. That can certainly be incredibly
- 4:54stressful and emotionally draining.
- 4:56Regarding your wife's condition, I believe you might be referring
- 4:59to atrophy, which refers to the wasting away or degeneration of
- 5:03a body part, such as muscles or organs.
- 5:06This can happen due to various reasons, including disuse,
- 5:10disease, or injury. Have you and your wife discussed
- 5:14her condition with a medical professional to better
- 5:16understand the cause and potential treatments?
- 5:21You pronounced it properly. I have a difficult time being
- 5:24able to pronounce that word. The issue is with her eyes.
- 5:29She's having some kind of issue with, I guess the the area in
- 5:35which the eyes send signals back to the brain.
- 5:39They're basically according to what I've read, it appears as
- 5:43though she may end up losing her eyesight.
- 5:47Are you familiar with this? Yes, Brett, I'm familiar with
- 5:54optic atrophy, which is a condition that affects the optic
- 5:57nerve, the part of the eye that sends visual signals to the
- 6:00brain. Optic atrophy can indeed lead to
- 6:03vision loss, and the severity of the condition can vary depending
- 6:06on the underlying 'cause. It's important for your wife to
- 6:09work closely with her eye doctor to monitor her condition, manage
- 6:13any symptoms, and explore potential treatments or
- 6:16interventions to help preserve her vision.
- 6:18How is she handling this diagnosis?
- 6:21She doesn't seem like she wants to talk about it.
- 6:24It's when she's going to problems she doesn't like to
- 6:30share. She doesn't like to discuss
- 6:32things, but it's caused me to be very concerned because of my
- 6:37agoraphobia. Unfortunately, I'm not able to
- 6:41drive out on highways and go to the grocery store because my
- 6:45issue is with the open spaces. I can go into town probably, but
- 6:50most likely I will never be given permission by the
- 6:55government to be able to drive with this condition.
- 6:59So myself as well as my daughter, we're very dependent
- 7:04on my wife for driving and we don't have anybody else that can
- 7:09drive us to doctors or drive us to the grocery store if
- 7:13something goes wrong. It sounds like your wife's
- 7:20condition and your own struggles with agoraphobia are creating a
- 7:24complex situation for you and your family.
- 7:27Brett, it's completely understandable that you're
- 7:29feeling concerned and even a bit helpless.
- 7:32However, it's important to remember that you're not alone,
- 7:35and there may be resources available to help you and your
- 7:38family navigate these challenges.
- 7:41For example, have you looked into local community services or
- 7:45organizations that might provide transportation assistance for
- 7:49individuals with disabilities or health conditions?
- 7:52Additionally, it might be helpful for you to continue
- 7:55seeking support for your agoraphobia, either through self
- 7:58help resources or by working with a mental health
- 8:01professional when possible. Well, that's the problem I was
- 8:06telling you about just a while ago.
- 8:07Because of financial constraints, it's difficult to
- 8:11be able to pay. And I have tried to get a
- 8:15doctor, I've tried to actually get a therapist, I've tried to
- 8:20get somebody that can help me professionally with depression
- 8:23and all that because depression and agoraphobia go hand in hand
- 8:27and unfortunately we don't have that going on.
- 8:30My wife recently got her a is working on getting her a new
- 8:35Doctor. I think she was successful at
- 8:37that, but it still leaves us in the dark on what to do next,
- 8:41what's going to happen, because according to the Internet,
- 8:44there's no cure for the condition that I was telling you
- 8:47about that she has. I understand, Brett, it can be
- 8:58incredibly frustrating and disheartening to feel like
- 9:01you're doing everything you can to access professional help but
- 9:04are still coming up short due to financial constraints.
- 9:08It's great that your wife is working on finding a new Doctor.
- 9:11That's a positive step in the right direction.
- 9:14While the Internet can be a helpful resource, it's important
- 9:17to keep in mind that medical information online should not be
- 9:20a substitute for personalized advice from a healthcare
- 9:23professional. There may be treatment options
- 9:26or strategies that can help manage your wife's condition
- 9:28even if a cure is not currently available.
- 9:31Do you think your wife would be open to discussing her condition
- 9:34with you further, or is that something she prefers to keep
- 9:36private? It's something that she that she
- 9:40seems as though she when my wife's the type person.
- 9:44She's got that personality where when she feels like she's up
- 9:49against a challenge or an obstacle.
- 9:51She's always had this thing where she always wants to try as
- 9:56hard as she can to get it straightened out herself.
- 9:59She doesn't like to ask for help.
- 10:01My wife and I, we've grown up very independent where we were
- 10:06very young whenever we started, basically surviving in this
- 10:12world without any kind of actual family support.
- 10:15So she's got this habit of wanting to do everything on her
- 10:21own, if that makes sense. It absolutely makes sense,
- 10:30Brett. Your wife sounds like a strong
- 10:31and self reliant individual and it's admirable that she likes to
- 10:35tackle challenges head on. However, it's important to
- 10:37remember that it's OK to ask for help, especially when dealing
- 10:42with complex medical conditions or situations.
- 10:44Even the most independent people can benefit from the support and
- 10:48guidance of loved ones or healthcare professionals.
- 10:51Do you think there might be a way for you to gently encourage
- 10:55your wife to open up about her condition, or to let her know
- 10:59that you're there to support her however she needs?
- 11:03Well, it's extremely challenging because she works for hours and
- 11:09hours every single day and then when she comes home, she's
- 11:12tired, She wants to relax. And what she usually does in
- 11:17order to kind of lay her feed out is she'll sit back and
- 11:21she'll watch some videos or some clips or read the news or do
- 11:25things like that, or play around on Facebook and, or with her
- 11:30phone. And she just simply, you know,
- 11:34when she's dealing with people all day, she wants her own
- 11:37privacy, her own private time. And whenever it comes to us
- 11:42talking about issues, well, we both tend to get very anxious.
- 11:46There's a lot of anxiety because we usually discover at the end
- 11:51of our conversations that there's nothing we can really do
- 11:55without, you know, bundles and bundles of money, the financial
- 12:00issues. It's understandable that after a
- 12:07long day of work, your wife needs some time to unwind and
- 12:10recharge. However, it's also important for
- 12:13you both to find time to communicate openly about your
- 12:17concerns, even if it may be difficult or anxiety inducing.
- 12:22Financial constraints can certainly make it challenging to
- 12:25access the resources you need, but there may be other options
- 12:29available that you haven't explored yet.
- 12:31Have you looked into any community based resources like
- 12:34support groups, nonprofit organizations, or local
- 12:38government assistance programs that might be able to provide
- 12:41guidance or assistance with your family's medical and financial
- 12:44concerns? Yeah, we tried government
- 12:48agencies. We I tried to get on something
- 12:51called Medicaid, and they wouldn't let me go through with
- 12:54it. They also wouldn't let my
- 12:56daughter go through with it. And she recently, just a few
- 12:59months ago, had a surgery because she suffers from a
- 13:03condition called hydrocephalus. She had to have her head
- 13:07surgically messed with in order for her to have a new shunt
- 13:14replacement and they don't want to pay for it.
- 13:18So that's caused us more financial anxiety and of course
- 13:22worrying about our young daughter who lives with us is
- 13:27that's been very stressful as well.
- 13:34I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges your family has
- 13:37been facing, Brett, especially with regard to your daughter's
- 13:40health condition and the difficulties you've encountered
- 13:43with government agencies. It's it's completely
- 13:46understandable that you're feeling overwhelmed and anxious
- 13:49about the financial implications of her surgery.
- 13:52You know, in cases like these, it might be helpful to explore
- 13:55other avenues of assistance, like non profit organizations
- 13:59that specialize in helping families with medical expenses
- 14:03or fundraising platforms that allow you to reach out to your
- 14:06community for support. Have you considered looking into
- 14:09resources like GoFundMe or other crowdfunding platforms to help
- 14:14offset some of the costs associated with your daughters
- 14:17surgery? Yeah, I've asked for support and
- 14:21donations. I use YouTube and I've asked for
- 14:25support and every once in a while somebody throws a few
- 14:28bucks here, a few bucks there. Sometimes people buy some of the
- 14:32stuff that I've created. I create T-shirts and posters
- 14:37and merchandise. But unfortunately, it's not
- 14:40enough to take care of like medical bills or even enough to
- 14:44be able to pay for, you know, a bill for the home or anything
- 14:47like that. The problem is with community
- 14:51and support. That's really good advice that
- 14:54you're offering. But the problem is, is that I
- 14:58live out in the country. I live in a little tiny small
- 15:02town and there is a city called Saint Louis off in the distance,
- 15:07about 20-30 miles down the road. But you know, it's that that's a
- 15:17problem with Agora. He got to get on highways and
- 15:22and all that. And plus my wife is the one
- 15:25we're dependent on for driving. So there's that.
- 15:28And then even though my daughter went through the surgical issue,
- 15:32she also does have a job. And because my wife and daughter
- 15:37work all the time and then I'm doing what I'm doing, there's
- 15:41not really any time to sit down and reminisce like we should.
- 15:48Go ahead. It sounds like there are a lot
- 15:58of factors at play here, Brett, from your family's work
- 16:01schedules to the limitations imposed by your agoraphobia.
- 16:04Given these constraints, it might be helpful to focus on
- 16:07online resources and communities that you can access from the
- 16:10comfort of your own home. This could include virtual
- 16:13support groups for individuals with agoraphobia or chronic
- 16:16health conditions, as well as online forums and social media
- 16:20groups dedicated to helping families in need.
- 16:23While these resources may not provide immediate financial
- 16:26relief, they can offer a sense of connection and solidarity, as
- 16:31well as practical tips and strategies for managing your
- 16:33family's challenges. Have you explored any online
- 16:36communities or forums that might be relevant to your situation?
- 16:40Yeah, I've tried using forums and blogs and I've tried
- 16:46publicly talking about this kind of issues that I have, and I've
- 16:50even used my YouTube videos to talk about some of my personal
- 16:54problems. But that causes an even more
- 16:57stupid ordeal for me because I'm a popular person on the
- 17:04Internet. I'm a popular person who makes
- 17:06videos. And unfortunately, although I
- 17:09have fans and people who subscribe to me and people who
- 17:13enjoy my content, I have people who hate me who will go out of
- 17:18their way to try to take any personal information I put out
- 17:21there on the Internet and try to humiliate me or mock me or make
- 17:26fun of me. And normally I just let that
- 17:29shit roll off my back. But, you know, still, it's
- 17:33frustrating to when you're already down and somebody just
- 17:38keeps kicking you, you know, like a dead horse.
- 17:46That's really unfortunate, Brett.
- 17:47It takes a lot of courage to share personal struggles online,
- 17:51and it's disappointing that some people respond with negativity
- 17:54and mockery. Remember that their behaviour is
- 17:57a reflection of their own insecurities and shortcomings,
- 18:01and not a reflection of your worth as a person.
- 18:05In situations like these, it might be helpful to focus on the
- 18:08supportive messages and interactions you receive from
- 18:11your genuine fans and subscribers, rather than getting
- 18:14caught up in the negativity. Additionally, you might consider
- 18:17moderating or disabling comments on your personal videos or
- 18:21posts, or creating private groups or forums where you can
- 18:24connect with like minded individuals in a more controlled
- 18:27and supportive environment. That's a good point.
- 18:32I should probably disable my comments, but if you disable the
- 18:36comments and you don't get to see the positive support or the
- 18:39positive comments from people if you completely shut it down.
- 18:44So that's one of the reasons why I put up with that, that part of
- 18:47the nonsense. It does help me sometimes to
- 18:51make videos. It helps me get out my
- 18:54aggravation and my stress sometimes.
- 18:57But lately it hasn't been as effective.
- 19:03In fact, I've been, I find myself not as passionate
- 19:06anymore. I get bored.
- 19:08And sometimes when I look at other videos or I look around on
- 19:13the Internet or watch the news, it causes me to be even darker
- 19:18in my depression. Like I fall deeper into
- 19:21depression because I don't know how much access you have to the
- 19:26Internet. But humans are a mess.
- 19:28They're just awful, you know? You there?
- 19:53Hello. That seems like something's
- 20:03wrong. Were you able to pick up on
- 20:11anything I said? Oh boy, let me try reconnecting.
- 20:27Can you hear me? It looks like we got
- 20:29disconnected for a moment there. Some kind of microphone issues,
- 20:42I guess. All right.
