- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. But you're a guest to my home. You
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty, And I said, no, guest,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff,
- 0:35Speaker 1: So how did you dare.
- 0:36Speaker 2: To surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm Bridger Wine girl.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We are in the backyard. It's eerily quiet, I think,
- 0:58Speaker 3: because it's a Saturday in the children aren't at school,
- 1:01Speaker 3: and the dump truck isn't driving by. By the time
- 1:05Speaker 3: you're hearing this, it'll be I think January ish, which
- 1:09Speaker 3: is historically kind of a bad time for me emotionally,
- 1:13Speaker 3: as the rains come to Los Angeles and threatened to
- 1:16Speaker 3: flood my home. So God only knows where I'll be
- 1:20Speaker 3: mentally once you're actually hearing this. But right now I'm
- 1:22Speaker 3: on top of the world. I've never I'm thriving, never
- 1:25Speaker 3: felt better outside of I still haven't figured out how
- 1:29Speaker 3: I'm going to use my buy one, get one free
- 1:31Speaker 3: salad coupon I have Until I have two more weeks,
- 1:35Speaker 3: I'll figure that out. Is there anything else I need?
- 1:39Speaker 3: All of this was necessary. Everything I've said so far
- 1:41Speaker 3: was necessary. For me to say, and I don't know
- 1:44Speaker 3: that there's anything, but I do have the mic and
- 1:47Speaker 3: I can do whatever I want. I think that's it
- 1:51Speaker 3: for my intro today. I do have the mic, and
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'm kind of just dragging you through it. I don't
- 1:57Speaker 3: know why I think we should get into the podcast.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I adore today's guest. I think she's so funny. It's
- 2:02Speaker 3: Hannah Pilkus. Hannah, Hello, welcome to I said, no gifts.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Look at this crisp day we're having.
- 2:09Speaker 3: It's so it's unseasonably warm.
- 2:10Speaker 2: It really is, and you know that's concerning. It is
- 2:13Speaker 2: concerning selfishly, I'm enjoying this on this on this ripe Saturday.
- 2:19Speaker 3: It's a fall kind of has come to Los Angeles
- 2:22Speaker 3: despite it being mid December.
- 2:25Speaker 2: If you drive about an hour north, there's like a
- 2:27Speaker 2: two mile radius of red leaves, the pumpkin patch. Oh
- 2:32Speaker 2: so to see this little trumpy there, so maybe avoid it,
- 2:35Speaker 2: but pretty leaves.
- 2:36Speaker 3: If you get five minutes outside of Los Angeles, it
- 2:39Speaker 3: gets trumpy.
- 2:40Speaker 2: It's true.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Don't realize that about California. There's not a wasteland.
- 2:43Speaker 2: It's a big state.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so some might say a country within a country.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely think about Just sit quietly and consider that first.
- 2:53Speaker 2: To ruminate on that for ten to twenty minutes. No,
- 2:57Speaker 2: that's it's such a nice day.
- 2:58Speaker 4: We can't.
- 2:59Speaker 2: We can't.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I once was outside of an Albertson's and got on occasion,
- 3:06Speaker 3: I'm outside in Albertson's wandering the parking latch. That's kind
- 3:10Speaker 3: of a lifestyle I lead. But someone approached me with
- 3:14Speaker 3: a clipboard and I usually say no to these people,
- 3:17Speaker 3: and somehow they convinced me to sign it. And then
- 3:19Speaker 3: I learned that they were trying to it was a
- 3:22Speaker 3: petition to break California into two states. That's one of
- 3:26Speaker 3: the worst people you can run into.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I didn't know that there were people outside with clipboards
- 3:30Speaker 2: doing bad thing. Yeah, I thought it was exclusively like
- 3:33Speaker 2: Habitat for Humanity or and you.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Know what I do, that's wicked.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I recently saw it plug we hold your nail, let's
- 3:43Speaker 2: hold face for that? Is that I fake that I'm
- 3:46Speaker 2: going through a breakup. As I passed by this, I
- 3:50Speaker 2: know so. And they're not going to approach if you're
- 3:54Speaker 2: because it's not that I don't want to donate, but
- 3:55Speaker 2: I will do that on my own time costed on Colorado.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Do you know what the worst for me is when
- 4:02Speaker 3: I just I try to be polite, I just say no,
- 4:05Speaker 3: thank you, and then they get mad at me and
- 4:07Speaker 3: they act like it's just like, don't make me get
- 4:09Speaker 3: into an altercation with you. We all know that what
- 4:12Speaker 3: you're doing is God bless you. But what you're doing
- 4:15Speaker 3: is annoying. You know that you're being annoying, right, And
- 4:17Speaker 3: I'm just being polite to trying to get away from you.
- 4:19Speaker 2: And you know, but like historically anger or guilting someone,
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'm like a lot of us have escaped our oppressed
- 4:26Speaker 2: pass to not be confronted with that. So I think
- 4:28Speaker 2: it just hits a core something.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Oh, it feels very bad.
- 4:32Speaker 4: But you succumbed for the bad cause.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Well, they must have been holding a gun or something.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I don't know how that happens.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I've heard that that's their new tactic.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It's just a gun point right to your head, all right,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I'm sure, oh man, And I don't know how I
- 4:49Speaker 2: discovered that.
- 4:51Speaker 3: The whole thing I have that unfolded. I must have
- 4:53Speaker 3: been right.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Did you get an email saying thank you so much?
- 4:57Speaker 2: We're currently underway sawing California in half. It's all thanks
- 5:00Speaker 2: to your twenty five dollars donation. You pushed us over
- 5:03Speaker 2: the limit. Yeah exactly.
- 5:05Speaker 4: It's a telethon and you were the final.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Oh man, yeah that was uh so, I'll never do
- 5:11Speaker 3: it again. Sure, they kind of ruined me for signing things.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I feel you there.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sorry to hear about your dog this morning.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, my dog is he's he's his name's Nathaniel,
- 5:22Speaker 2: very stoics. I know it's I guess crisp is the
- 5:27Speaker 2: word today. He's just a very serious dog. Considering that
- 5:31Speaker 2: he is too, I would say funny parents, But he's
- 5:35Speaker 2: never smiled. He's never He looks for loose trash on
- 5:38Speaker 2: this on the ground and he and he confronted some glass,
- 5:42Speaker 2: oh the rest, and ended up in his paw, his paw.
- 5:45Speaker 2: That's terrible, I know. So we tweezed it out and
- 5:49Speaker 2: and it's so hard with dogs. My friend took her
- 5:51Speaker 2: dog to the vet yesterday and I'm like, just I'm
- 5:54Speaker 2: throwing money at it. I'm like, save him, save him,
- 5:56Speaker 2: whatever it takes. It's kind of like getting your car fixed.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I don't mean to reduce to but it's like a language.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You're not familiar with.
- 6:02Speaker 3: And they're like, I can get you to do anything right.
- 6:04Speaker 2: They're like, we need to fix the sneezel hopper and
- 6:06Speaker 2: you're like, here's two grand I kill them right. I
- 6:10Speaker 2: don't want here, Yeah, I don't want my sneezel hopper broken.
- 6:12Speaker 2: So but but it was like, can we handle this
- 6:16Speaker 2: and not take him to the vet where they're like, all,
- 6:18Speaker 2: he's here, let's do an MRI. You know, of course,
- 6:22Speaker 2: what kind of dog is he? He's like a little
- 6:25Speaker 2: bit of Jack Russell, a little bit of Chihuahua, a
- 6:28Speaker 2: little bit of Gnome.
- 6:29Speaker 4: He kind of looks like a house elf combination.
- 6:33Speaker 2: You know.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I love the ears of their own personality.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Sometimes they're up and he could take flight, and sometimes
- 6:38Speaker 2: they're down and he's sulking, and.
- 6:41Speaker 3: It's really cute. A dog name with dignity. I think
- 6:44Speaker 3: that some people, when we're giving them a funny name.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Everyone's lost their dignity. They just naming dogs.
- 6:50Speaker 2: What did I My friend is fostering two dogs named
- 6:53Speaker 2: Voodoo and Abra Cadabra, and you know, some foul play
- 6:56Speaker 2: was happening there.
- 6:57Speaker 4: I don't trust whoever named their dogs.
- 7:00Speaker 2: What are you?
- 7:00Speaker 4: Ab You're yelling that at the dog.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Woodoo almost works. Sure, it's just you're not saying abracadabra
- 7:08Speaker 3: every time. I guess maybe you've shorten.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It to abby.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Oh that's cute, but then just name it abby.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Then just name it. And because so Nathaniel Nate Nate,
- 7:17Speaker 2: that's a that's a great name for when he's in trouble, Nathan.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You'll boys Nate Nate when he's been good boy.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I love that.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I like that.
- 7:25Speaker 3: How did he handle the glasping pulled from his paw?
- 7:28Speaker 2: He's so interesting because his nails have gotten have you
- 7:31Speaker 2: seen the witches? Oh?
- 7:32Speaker 4: His nails so long and.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Coiled, because try as we might, we can't cut them.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Did we pring them to modern? Bet they can't cut them?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Right? He turns into I mean, and that's where he's
- 7:44Speaker 2: a little house elf. I imagine if a house elf,
- 7:48Speaker 2: you're on me, and that is that I'm human cottage core.
- 7:51Speaker 2: But he will he'll defend his nails till the ends
- 7:55Speaker 2: of time and you'll see the teeth come out. But
- 7:57Speaker 2: with the nail with the glass. He's actually quite mild manner.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's amazing. I guess he knew it was an emergency yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 2: he wanted it out. Yes, get this out of me now. Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Do you call that when you have something in your hand?
- 8:10Speaker 2: A splinter or a sliver?
- 8:12Speaker 4: I have never heard slipper.
- 8:14Speaker 3: This is crazy to me.
- 8:15Speaker 4: That's like remote. I call it a swapper.
- 8:18Speaker 2: What's a swamper a remote? It's my dad.
- 8:23Speaker 4: My dad's Dutch, and he's like, passle swapper a remote?
- 8:26Speaker 4: Like what is that troll?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yes, a swamper, but nothing further from what that is.
- 8:32Speaker 2: It's a lander at least it's certainly not in a
- 8:34Speaker 2: swamp a swamper.
- 8:36Speaker 3: There's something wet or mushy about it, exactly.
- 8:39Speaker 2: It's very hard, heavy, there's no weird viscosity to it.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Swamper swamper? Okay, but sliver more on that. Wow, so
- 8:47Speaker 2: this is interesting. Yeah, I've always called old dog. It's
- 8:50Speaker 2: really disrespecting your dog you've just left in the car.
- 8:52Speaker 2: This is kind of yours.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Like, actually, there's more glass.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Get me away from the stock owner.
- 8:57Speaker 4: I want to go to get my mri.
- 8:59Speaker 2: After all, if you even cared a little, you would
- 9:02Speaker 2: have spent four grand on me. Yeah, sliver.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I grew up in Utah and my family always called
- 9:09Speaker 3: them slippers. Slip, and then I've yet, you know, like
- 9:12Speaker 3: I've had them in my hands since been in a
- 9:15Speaker 3: relationship with my boyfriend, and he makes fun of me
- 9:17Speaker 3: every time I say sliver.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He's a splinter, you say, like, did you I have
- 9:20Speaker 2: a sliver? I have a sliver, But that would make
- 9:22Speaker 2: me think cake.
- 9:23Speaker 4: I'm a sliver of something.
- 9:25Speaker 3: But when I think of it, when I say a
- 9:26Speaker 3: sliver of cake, I imagine, well, it's a tiny thing,
- 9:28Speaker 3: like it gets in your hand. I'd love to get
- 9:30Speaker 3: a little piece of cake in my hand.
- 9:32Speaker 2: You know what.
- 9:32Speaker 4: You raise a really good point.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I've kind of solved this issue.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Splinter. Actually what the fanatics? Yeah, what's going on there?
- 9:40Speaker 2: Splint?
- 9:40Speaker 4: Splint?
- 9:41Speaker 3: I think right, we're thinking it helps.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I think teeny, you're carrying a bindle and your hand,
- 9:46Speaker 2: your arms in one of those right off.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Or it's like on your there's a big piece of
- 9:50Speaker 3: wood holding your legs together.
- 9:52Speaker 2: We've gone so far back in time, no modern innovation.
- 9:55Speaker 2: In the back of a wagon exactly in a cond
- 9:58Speaker 2: of stoke a wagon splinter.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Okay, you know what, it should just.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Be sliver now, it should be sliver, Onalisa, have you
- 10:03Speaker 3: ever heard sliver?
- 10:05Speaker 5: Never in my life, my family.
- 10:07Speaker 3: So this is starts where I start to know that
- 10:08Speaker 3: there were some dark things happening in my family.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Because Sliver does sound like the name of a horror film.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I does Sliver. You've got like the substance, and the
- 10:18Speaker 2: sequel is Slivers. Sliver slie a little, but it keeps expanding.
- 10:25Speaker 3: The thing about splinter body horror.
- 10:27Speaker 2: The thing about slippers is there actually are. There's nothing
- 10:31Speaker 2: more horrific than like a splinter or a sliver that
- 10:34Speaker 2: just won't give It won't go away because you're like, oh, no,
- 10:37Speaker 2: where do we go? From?
- 10:38Speaker 4: Where do we go?
- 10:39Speaker 2: It's kind of like a popcorn kernel that's just hanging
- 10:41Speaker 2: on for dear life and then you yell loud enough
- 10:43Speaker 2: one day and like it finally releases its clutches. Yeah,
- 10:48Speaker 2: but it is Those are just such painful things. Yes,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I just have.
- 10:52Speaker 5: To say that Sliver is actually an erotic thriller from
- 10:56Speaker 5: nineteen ninety three starring Sharon Stone, Billy Baldwin and Tom
- 10:59Speaker 5: Bear Insure.
- 11:00Speaker 2: So you know it's erotic of Sharon Stone's in it
- 11:03Speaker 2: and sas and she's got a sliver and then listen, that's.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Also an innuendo.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Oh of course that's and I didn't want to bring
- 11:11Speaker 2: it up because you'd said my family. But the first
- 11:13Speaker 2: thing I thought was, well, okay, that's just the mission
- 11:16Speaker 2: sensor this part of the pod.
- 11:19Speaker 4: That's neither here nor there.
- 11:20Speaker 3: That's the first thing we censor on this podcast is
- 11:22Speaker 3: the word slip.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Everyone calls in. I was so on board until the
- 11:27Speaker 4: Sliver part.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I am discussed.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I listen to this with my family and my stoic dog.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Wow, I wonder could you give us a synopsis of
- 11:37Speaker 3: what happens in Sliver. I'm little very curious. What does
- 11:40Speaker 3: Sharon get up to in Sliver?
- 11:42Speaker 5: I'm going to read the first paragraph of the plot?
- 11:45Speaker 3: Okay, right.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Carly Norris, a beautiful book editor in deborce in her
- 11:49Speaker 5: mid thirties, moves into the exclusive New York City Sliver building,
- 11:53Speaker 5: but she creates other tenants, including Zeke, video game designer,
- 11:59Speaker 5: Jack a novelist, Vita, a fashion model who moonlights as
- 12:03Speaker 5: a call girl, and Gus, a professor of videography at
- 12:06Speaker 5: New York University. They tell Carley that she bears a
- 12:09Speaker 5: striking resemblance to Naomi Singer, the previous tenant of her
- 12:13Speaker 5: apartment who fell to her death.
- 12:14Speaker 2: From her balcony.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Oh, there's so many opportunities for erotic foul play.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Oh one dred percent. Did we think Sliver was gonna be?
- 12:21Speaker 2: I thought it was going to come into play in
- 12:23Speaker 2: a different way than the name of the apartments. If
- 12:25Speaker 2: I saw they're called the Sliver apartments, I'm looking ass
- 12:28Speaker 2: that's not true New York real estate. I'll move into
- 12:31Speaker 2: the like the slip gutter because they've got yeah, the slipper.
- 12:38Speaker 3: That's you know, that is the last thing I would
- 12:39Speaker 3: have guessed as far as slivers go. But maybe slippers
- 12:43Speaker 3: also come into play elsewhere.
- 12:45Speaker 2: In the movie.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Sure, maybe there's a real sliverness to her apartment.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Sliverness if you will.
- 12:50Speaker 2: What year was that?
- 12:50Speaker 4: It kind of sounds like ghosts.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It feels like a lot of movies in that time
- 12:54Speaker 2: were very supernatural, sexy.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Supernatural of course, and we're kind of coming back to
- 12:58Speaker 3: these sort of things. It's ben a fit like in
- 13:00Speaker 3: the last year, very sexy movie time.
- 13:02Speaker 4: God is it?
- 13:03Speaker 2: And it's very sexy old I say, older women in
- 13:07Speaker 2: what are these called?
- 13:08Speaker 4: You?
- 13:09Speaker 3: You've said publicly that anyone over twenty is an older woman.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Even though I'm so and censor that out because we
- 13:16Speaker 2: actually don't need that. In this pod, I'm using a.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Lot of retinals, So I'm whatever, in your.
- 13:21Speaker 2: High school, I'm high school guest, go swampers.
- 13:27Speaker 3: We should have a high school guest at some point,
- 13:29Speaker 3: what would that be.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I've been watching Is It Cake and one of the
- 13:32Speaker 2: contestants is eighteen, and I'm like, oh my gosh, you
- 13:36Speaker 2: can't help but be just so eighteen a chick. They
- 13:38Speaker 2: brought up a walkman and he's like, I don't know
- 13:40Speaker 2: what that is. I like that because you feel so
- 13:43Speaker 2: shamed for your sheer existence. You're like, I guess I
- 13:46Speaker 2: am old as fun. What were we talking about?
- 13:50Speaker 3: We were talking about, uh, sexy movies.
- 13:53Speaker 2: We were sexy movies and then oh, oh that they're back.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I think, like, you know, the Nicole Kidman dating the
- 14:00Speaker 2: much Younger And there's two movies in a row that
- 14:02Speaker 2: are that. Oh wait choes the Zaccha Front one. Oh
- 14:05Speaker 2: that's right where they This is my heart. This is
- 14:08Speaker 2: what I have a hard time with that movie. They
- 14:10Speaker 2: only give the little kisses and they're supposed to be
- 14:12Speaker 2: having sex and they're doing this.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I don't know about you.
- 14:16Speaker 2: But when I'm making woodpe my mouth's opening. Just so
- 14:20Speaker 2: this is a high Grandma, we're not doing Pecs' not
- 14:24Speaker 2: PEX for PEX for sex, not on the watch.
- 14:28Speaker 3: PEX do not happen during second No.
- 14:31Speaker 4: But then this next movie seems hot.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It's like the A two four.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, and they have the sky Ferira song.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah. The whole thing is very dark and allurable purple tones.
- 14:42Speaker 2: It's kind of euphoria coated.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah, the boss girl is going after the intern. I
- 14:49Speaker 3: think it's gonna be very sexy.
- 14:50Speaker 2: It looks really good, and we're not gonna be seeing
- 14:53Speaker 2: any pecks in that.
- 14:54Speaker 3: No, not a peck to be seen.
- 14:56Speaker 2: We're gonna, in fact, we're gonna go close your mouth
- 14:58Speaker 2: a little. They're gonna be swallowing exactly. And then it
- 15:03Speaker 2: is the substance. Then they actually he.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Just swallows her and he bursts out of her.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, they go for it a little too hard and
- 15:10Speaker 4: eat the other.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Oh man, what other movies were out this year that
- 15:18Speaker 3: were sexy? There was the tennis film Challengers. Challengers Queer
- 15:22Speaker 3: was also I didn't seem clear yet. It's very slow,
- 15:26Speaker 3: but in a good way, okay, but very sexy.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Very honestly, I'm fine with slow if it's sexy. Oh yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 2: it's arguably we all need to slow down. Think you're
- 15:36Speaker 2: sexier if we slow down.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, start with a peck. Yeah, killed from a peck.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Peck and okay, and let's write some erotica right now,
- 15:45Speaker 2: start with a peck and just keep it nice and slow.
- 15:48Speaker 3: He thought it was just going to be a peck
- 15:49Speaker 3: from Grandma.
- 15:50Speaker 4: I got a CBS erotica novel for fun ones. Oh
- 15:53Speaker 4: and what made me laugh so hard about it is,
- 15:55Speaker 4: first of all, they're always virgins.
- 15:56Speaker 2: It's always like the woman and she's a virgin at
- 15:58Speaker 2: twenty eight, And to me, that's just so tragic. One
- 16:01Speaker 2: of those books, huge dork. And the funniest thing is
- 16:05Speaker 2: anytime that they'd have sex, she'd be like, or the
- 16:08Speaker 2: author would say, you know, he entered her with his
- 16:11Speaker 2: throbbing member and she sobbed, Like why is she always sobbing?
- 16:16Speaker 4: To me, that's the anti sexy, but she sobbed?
- 16:19Speaker 2: Does he pushed her against the wall? I'm like, but
- 16:22Speaker 2: she's enjoying it. I can't remember the last time. And
- 16:25Speaker 2: you know, I've had people say, like I cried at
- 16:27Speaker 2: the end of it. It was like so powerful, but sobbed.
- 16:29Speaker 3: That's like saying she weeped or bald.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Right, let's stop if she's sobbing, Let's take.
- 16:34Speaker 2: A beat, Let's find out what's happening emotional, Let's Netflix
- 16:37Speaker 2: and chill. Is everyone comfortable? Yeah, let's unpack some things
- 16:42Speaker 2: and then let's come back anyway. I highly recommend a
- 16:45Speaker 2: great book.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Have you read any more books in that category?
- 16:49Speaker 2: You know?
- 16:50Speaker 4: I haven't, but I am trying to get into like
- 16:53Speaker 4: Fantasy smunt.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, because there's that very popular series.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to remember the name, but so many
- 17:00Speaker 2: friends have said it's it's all the things you want
- 17:02Speaker 2: escapism in a time like this. Oh, come on, I'm
- 17:05Speaker 2: I mean California. If you heard California is gonna be
- 17:06Speaker 2: two states because of one donor uh And you got sexy,
- 17:11Speaker 2: so you got escapism in like other worlds and you
- 17:14Speaker 2: got right hot. Yes.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Former guest of the show Blair Saki. I was following
- 17:19Speaker 3: her Instagram stories recently and she really went on a
- 17:21Speaker 3: journey with these books.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I had the time of her life. I was like,
- 17:24Speaker 3: maybe it's time for me.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Fairies are doing things and yeah, having the time of
- 17:29Speaker 3: their life.
- 17:29Speaker 2: And they're in the forest and they're just rolling around
- 17:32Speaker 2: taking a bath among trees in that beautiful creed. They're
- 17:35Speaker 2: having taking a bath in a lily pad. I love that.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that's frogs everywhere.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Well, because what I when I when I wanted to
- 17:45Speaker 2: like get excited, what I would look up is people
- 17:48Speaker 2: genuinely having a connection with beautiful production designs.
- 17:52Speaker 4: That is something I've googled because.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I'm like, give me Sparta kiss and they've and they've
- 17:57Speaker 2: built a relationship.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I need an arc and I need like a gorgeous
- 18:01Speaker 4: cascading fountain or like a drape.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It really gets me going. A nice back, Give me
- 18:07Speaker 2: like a beautiful corset, give me gorgeous costume that's gonna
- 18:10Speaker 2: get nominated first.
- 18:11Speaker 3: I don't want to look at a dirty twin mattress.
- 18:13Speaker 4: No, I'm the opposite of that.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I really wanted to feel airbrushed, and the connection is important.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I need to feel like they've I guess I'm demisexual
- 18:22Speaker 2: in that way even when I'm watching things.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Yeah, we want those harlequtin romance to cover.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Sounds like it's kind of all those things.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Sounds exactly what we were all missing from Harry Potter.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Don't get me started. All that. Truly, the show's coming out,
- 18:40Speaker 2: and they were like, they auditioned thirty six thousand kids.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I'm like, really, you couldn't find three out of one hundred.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I just don't buy it. And you know they didn't
- 18:49Speaker 4: watch those tapes.
- 18:50Speaker 3: No, if they're not watching those self tapes.
- 18:53Speaker 2: No, there are all six thousand people submitted, is what
- 18:55Speaker 2: they should say. What are we talking about? So many
- 18:59Speaker 2: people leave it alone.
- 19:00Speaker 3: We've got new fantasy.
- 19:02Speaker 2: So that always drives me nuts is there's there's so
- 19:05Speaker 2: much fantasy smut that they could turn into shows, and
- 19:08Speaker 2: there's so much amazing original anything out there. I have
- 19:12Speaker 2: a hard time with the blank check remakes of things
- 19:15Speaker 2: because I'm not chomping at the bit to watch something
- 19:18Speaker 2: I've already seen.
- 19:19Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, especially if it was made it
- 19:21Speaker 3: within the last twenty years.
- 19:22Speaker 2: You see Gladiator two.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Not watching that it showed me nuts.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It's Gladiator one but kind of worse.
- 19:29Speaker 3: One of the an early sign of my homosexuality was
- 19:32Speaker 3: that I fell asleep during Gladiator and More Power Too.
- 19:35Speaker 3: I woke up from that movie and said, there's something
- 19:36Speaker 3: different about me, and.
- 19:38Speaker 2: You know, I fully support that. The only reason I
- 19:40Speaker 2: didn't fall asleep. Is because I was in Rome this
- 19:42Speaker 2: summer for my honeymoon. We went to the coliseum and
- 19:45Speaker 2: I go, you know, it will be fun to watch
- 19:47Speaker 2: the fictional version.
- 19:48Speaker 3: To see this in CG, but.
- 19:50Speaker 4: I watched it in four you know increments.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I watch it for thirty minutes, having to grony watch
- 19:54Speaker 2: another thirty. I mean, for all intents and purposes, that's
- 19:56Speaker 2: a nap. Yet it is like, let's go, you know,
- 19:59Speaker 2: eat and pasta come back.
- 20:01Speaker 4: But glad.
- 20:01Speaker 2: And also I'm just so the CGI of it all
- 20:04Speaker 2: is driving me so nuts these days. It's so jarring.
- 20:07Speaker 2: And I don't need to see sharks in the coliseum
- 20:10Speaker 2: phony baloney phony below. Well, actually that's real. The sharks
- 20:14Speaker 2: are real in the Colosseum. Somehow, they would fill it
- 20:18Speaker 2: with water and have like boat duels and they would
- 20:21Speaker 2: perfectly fair, perfectly fair.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Do I need the computerized shark?
- 20:25Speaker 3: If you're going to actually you have to build the
- 20:27Speaker 3: colosseum and fill it, build a minione and fill it
- 20:29Speaker 3: with one.
- 20:29Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
- 20:30Speaker 2: People need to start spending more millions of dollars to
- 20:34Speaker 2: actually build a colosseum. I don't want a single special
- 20:37Speaker 2: effect I don't really extras that are like, we've seen
- 20:40Speaker 2: that that's happening.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah, they I know they've got a lake or something
- 20:44Speaker 3: in the back of one of these lots.
- 20:45Speaker 2: You know that they throw up a couple beams and
- 20:50Speaker 2: I just I'm such a practical effects lover.
- 20:52Speaker 3: We all are.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, call me crazy, but I'm very like late nineties
- 20:57Speaker 2: Cynthie fantasy where you know, you pad it painted backdrop
- 21:00Speaker 2: and you had to suspend bleek to a degree.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Give me, give me a chance to imagine.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Yes, let my brain work for a minute.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Start with a peck and just let us You know,
- 21:11Speaker 2: that's sort of like fantasy for play.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Let me. It's really just giving it all up.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yes, all we need from CG is a pick.
- 21:19Speaker 2: That's what I'm Then the rest of.
- 21:22Speaker 3: The rest of it is leave it up to us.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Real sharks put everyone at risk.
- 21:27Speaker 2: One CGI shark. No, I think that. Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Even in the trailers of Gladiator too, I just thought, well,
- 21:34Speaker 3: that's not impressive to me.
- 21:35Speaker 2: That's literally just a video game with.
- 21:37Speaker 4: A lot of hot people, which look, that's what enticed me.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Of course, that draws you in, and.
- 21:41Speaker 2: You would think based off of my Google searches, but
- 21:44Speaker 2: there were no genuine connections. Okay, now single genuine, no
- 21:47Speaker 2: genuine connections. And the only woman in the film, she's
- 21:50Speaker 2: from the first Gladiator and all she really does is
- 21:55Speaker 2: like put her hood up and walk into like a
- 21:57Speaker 2: dark candlelight something and she's like no, and then she
- 22:01Speaker 2: like takes her hood down.
- 22:02Speaker 4: I was like, all she's done in this movie.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Is put her hood up and down and sort of
- 22:07Speaker 2: like Saunter, it's driving me.
- 22:10Speaker 4: And that's not character.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Development, but it is choreography. It's really good cho choreography. Really,
- 22:16Speaker 2: if it was a music video, we'd all be through. Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 2: and it was dramatic. They're like slow, but she's pretty
- 22:23Speaker 2: much nonverbal other and I feel like the accent work
- 22:25Speaker 2: is all over the place in these Gladiator movies, right, No,
- 22:28Speaker 2: I think what they I think Denzel joined and I
- 22:30Speaker 2: think the director was like, hey, Denzel, what's up do you?
- 22:34Speaker 2: Would you be down to do an accent? And he
- 22:36Speaker 2: was like no, and he's like, all right, I don't
- 22:37Speaker 2: know where is my guy? And then he's just in
- 22:40Speaker 2: training day it's and then there's like Scottish accent, like
- 22:44Speaker 2: no one everyone Italian accent.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Everyone just chose their own.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they all chat GPT accent and they it's hard.
- 22:53Speaker 4: It's so jarring. They're all into different universe.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I can't do that. No, just do. Imagine you're working
- 22:59Speaker 3: at a pizza parl or a Buka to Beppo.
- 23:02Speaker 2: That's what it was missing. Everyone needed to sound like
- 23:04Speaker 2: they were in a buabo a host how many It's
- 23:10Speaker 2: gonna be a long wait, really because I feel like
- 23:12Speaker 2: three quarters of the restaurant's empty.
- 23:15Speaker 4: No, it's still gonna be await.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Imagine you're a thirty five year old woman working in Riverside.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Exactly, and you're told to somehow keep Buka to Beppo cool,
- 23:25Speaker 2: so you don't ever seed anyone.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I think all of the Bukas are shutting down, are they?
- 23:29Speaker 3: I think a lot of them are going out of business.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I wonder what they're going to put in place of that.
- 23:33Speaker 4: In Pasadena?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Maybe an Alta, oh probably it always come at Alta
- 23:38Speaker 2: is kind of the new Halloween superstore. It is, and
- 23:41Speaker 2: it's I know, there's like makeup carried there that the
- 23:43Speaker 2: Sephora doesn't have. But there's something about I like walking
- 23:47Speaker 2: into a Sephora and spending rent.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I like that is Alta, the one that has almost
- 23:53Speaker 3: all Alta products. Yeah, okay, and then Sephora does it
- 23:56Speaker 3: all and it.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Kind of feels more like a CVS in that way
- 23:59Speaker 2: fora's got You know this model decided to start a
- 24:02Speaker 2: skincare line and you know, to your sugarn, it's good.
- 24:05Speaker 3: The celebrity had nothing better to do it.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and was like I made this, and it's like
- 24:10Speaker 2: did you or did you do? Like three photo shoots
- 24:12Speaker 2: holding it? But really good serums.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I used a serum.
- 24:17Speaker 4: What do you think about these masks, the.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Led ones see Eliot that is a so you do
- 24:22Speaker 2: have like newborn baby skin.
- 24:23Speaker 3: So there, those are a scam. Yeah, I hate to
- 24:28Speaker 3: break it to everyone.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Those are a scam.
- 24:30Speaker 3: And yeah, let's both look at the camera. Those that
- 24:33Speaker 3: may or may not be used. The red light footage
- 24:38Speaker 3: thing is not. I mean, maybe it's doing something for
- 24:40Speaker 3: you emotionally.
- 24:41Speaker 2: And that's and you know what, sometimes the placebo is
- 24:44Speaker 2: enough to maybe help you what's it called cortisol or
- 24:48Speaker 2: maybe you're developing or less is pumping through you sat
- 24:51Speaker 2: therefore you are retaining your.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Youth bare minimum. It's forced rest.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Sure. I think a lot of this stuff psychosmatic. I
- 24:58Speaker 2: think it's like, yes, it's exactly. It's an hour where
- 25:01Speaker 2: you just have.
- 25:01Speaker 3: To be yeah, you have to just take it easy
- 25:03Speaker 3: and feel Have you used one before?
- 25:05Speaker 2: I haven't, But I actually to counter that, I'm seeing
- 25:08Speaker 2: people wearing it, like on the elliptical, and I'm like,
- 25:11Speaker 2: okayel like this is defeating the purpose. That's like terminator level. Right,
- 25:15Speaker 2: that's frightening, right, it's frightening. I've never used it because
- 25:18Speaker 2: it's four hundred and fifty dollars.
- 25:20Speaker 4: It's a four US.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Oh no, no, I can't.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I'm going to spend four hundred and fifty dollars total
- 25:24Speaker 2: getting like sixteen things. Of course.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just layering, layering, layering.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I can't. It kind of feels like the vape where
- 25:31Speaker 2: you don't really know what it's doing and for all
- 25:33Speaker 2: we know, it's making you worse.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It really could be. Yeah, it's like it to me
- 25:38Speaker 3: is feeling a little bit like one of those in
- 25:40Speaker 3: the sixties, one of those machines that would shake you
- 25:43Speaker 3: for exercise, or like a waterbed or a water bed.
- 25:46Speaker 3: It's like these things that we will all look back
- 25:48Speaker 3: on to me like, of course it.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Was a fraud. It'll be like in a cranium game
- 25:51Speaker 2: where they're like in twenty twenty five, this fad hit
- 25:55Speaker 2: the market and we later learned was zapping everyone with
- 25:59Speaker 2: radiation like that is responsible for countless deaths. It's like,
- 26:03Speaker 2: have you guys seen final destination with the tanning bed?
- 26:06Speaker 3: It's that what happens in the tanning bed.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I think they tanned to get trapped in there. I
- 26:11Speaker 2: think that they roast like a land under a magnifying glass.
- 26:15Speaker 2: You would have to be in their days, and I
- 26:17Speaker 2: think that's the final destination of it all is it's
- 26:20Speaker 2: way it's hot, hot, hot.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I think you would die of dehydration before the lights
- 26:23Speaker 3: got to you.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Right. Well, and let's call them, let's write in that's
- 26:28Speaker 2: to our senator and that because that's what they we
- 26:30Speaker 2: need to write to our senators about that. That's the
- 26:34Speaker 2: most pressent. That's the most pressing thing in this political Wow.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I haven't heard cranium in a long time. I love
- 26:40Speaker 2: a good game ever played Cranium.
- 26:42Speaker 3: What a delightful game that is.
- 26:43Speaker 4: You got to keep the clay moist. Yeah, that's hard
- 26:46Speaker 4: to do.
- 26:46Speaker 3: That's ruined a lot of cranium board games.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Have too many small parts.
- 26:50Speaker 2: To keep track of.
- 26:52Speaker 3: You shouldn't have to have one that you keep wet.
- 26:54Speaker 2: That's true, that's true.
- 26:56Speaker 4: But you could always replace it with a play.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Though, right, But then you've got to are you getting
- 27:00Speaker 3: the play do or you're making the salt dough at home?
- 27:02Speaker 2: Right?
- 27:03Speaker 4: And sometimes they're very cryptic.
- 27:04Speaker 2: It's like, all right, sculpt the pentagon and you're like, okay,
- 27:08Speaker 2: I have thirty seconds. But I loved Cranium because I'm
- 27:12Speaker 2: not you know, I feel like it catered to each
- 27:14Speaker 2: type of thinker, like I'm not miss factoid, but I
- 27:16Speaker 2: am act out or pop culture. Such a good game,
- 27:20Speaker 2: it's a really good game.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I want to buy that. You should Cranium, reach Outaniumanium.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I wonder if they must still make it.
- 27:29Speaker 2: They do.
- 27:29Speaker 4: I just saw it at Romans. Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 3: I love that way more than your quip lashes.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Your I What I like about it is it's variety.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I love a variety live show, and I love a
- 27:38Speaker 2: variety game because anything gets boring after a while. Even
- 27:41Speaker 2: Pictionary starts off hot. That's how you know you did
- 27:45Speaker 2: stick figure and then it's over ninety minutes.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Oh all die, we're bad artists.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I care I'm such a bad artist, and I
- 27:53Speaker 2: get really activated.
- 27:55Speaker 4: If it's if I if I letting my team down.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, of course, you start to feel guilty, you
- 27:59Speaker 3: feel less than Yeah, it's a bad crictionary.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Feels like it caters to many different Now you.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Can fail three times and win once and sure like, Okay,
- 28:08Speaker 3: I'm still a person.
- 28:09Speaker 2: It's also an appropriate reasonably size board. Yes, yeah, it's
- 28:13Speaker 2: like a seventy minute game.
- 28:15Speaker 3: I feel like, Wow, I'm gonna get online after well, actually,
- 28:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna wait for this episode to release and see
- 28:20Speaker 3: if Cranium sends me a box.
- 28:21Speaker 2: That sounds like a good idea? Do you play? Like
- 28:23Speaker 2: D and D or those?
- 28:24Speaker 3: I want to play it so bad, but it's intimidating.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Do you play it? It's one of those things I'm
- 28:29Speaker 2: like if I love fantasy smut and I'm like such
- 28:31Speaker 2: a Jim Henson head, and I feel like I love
- 28:34Speaker 2: it in theory, but the patience required.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Oh so much patience.
- 28:37Speaker 2: It's overwhelming.
- 28:38Speaker 3: And I guess it's a welcoming community totally, but I'm like,
- 28:41Speaker 3: I might be the first person where they're like, we've
- 28:43Speaker 3: welcomed too many people.
- 28:45Speaker 2: I feel that there's a game store right by my
- 28:47Speaker 2: sister's apartment, and I'm one of those creepy people looking in,
- 28:50Speaker 2: like breathing into the glass, watching these collection of folks
- 28:55Speaker 2: have so much fun together playing it, and there's a
- 28:57Speaker 2: real joyousness.
- 28:59Speaker 4: But again, how do you like permeate?
- 29:01Speaker 2: How do you walk in as a brand new person
- 29:04Speaker 2: and ask them to explain new.
- 29:05Speaker 3: The rules and you've really are seeing each other naked.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I think it's very exposing.
- 29:09Speaker 4: What we need to do is probably build like a
- 29:11Speaker 4: virgin D.
- 29:12Speaker 3: And D right where everyone's pretty new and there's one
- 29:14Speaker 3: person who's just like slightly better as the dungeons. That's
- 29:18Speaker 3: what it is, and then the rest of us can
- 29:19Speaker 3: feel embarrassed together.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yes, because otherwise I think it would be their patients
- 29:24Speaker 2: would dwindle, as would you. Yes, yeah, because they're four
- 29:29Speaker 2: five it's like a cricket game, like five hours of
- 29:31Speaker 2: cosplay five.
- 29:32Speaker 3: That's the other thing. Risk and uh Dungeons and Dragons
- 29:36Speaker 3: and like I just simply don't have the time.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Well, Risk is a long game.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Oh it'll go for days.
- 29:42Speaker 2: God, No, and Monopoly is pretty long. No one's ever
- 29:45Speaker 2: finished Monopoly? Has anyone ever finished Monopoly?
- 29:48Speaker 3: You? I just learned the budget for the Monopoly Go
- 29:52Speaker 3: on the phone was five hundred million dollars just for
- 29:56Speaker 3: the marketing.
- 29:57Speaker 2: What's the Monopoly Go for the phone?
- 30:00Speaker 3: I'm shocked you haven't heard of this. They're everywhere. Who
- 30:02Speaker 3: is buying it? No one wants to play Monopoly the
- 30:05Speaker 3: real thing?
- 30:06Speaker 2: You know where They nailed it though, the McDonald's back
- 30:10Speaker 2: in the day. Of course, I loved that and was
- 30:12Speaker 2: convinced if I bought enough Big Max I would fill
- 30:16Speaker 2: the bord up.
- 30:16Speaker 3: We all were. We were all hoping to win a
- 30:19Speaker 3: Dodge Viper.
- 30:20Speaker 4: The Dodge Viper of it all.
- 30:23Speaker 2: That was brilliant. Today I did pull up in a
- 30:27Speaker 2: very loud Dodge Viper. I got a muffler installed so
- 30:31Speaker 2: that I'm always really loud when I pulled up, roaring
- 30:35Speaker 2: and it's parking. I did not know Monopoly Go was
- 30:39Speaker 2: a game, And so what are you to play alone?
- 30:42Speaker 4: I get to play by yourself.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I think probably it's it seems like a real bottoming
- 30:49Speaker 3: out for somebody like I really feel, for whatever reason,
- 30:52Speaker 3: I'm really against this particular app.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I agree.
- 30:55Speaker 3: It's just like that five hundred million dollars could have
- 30:58Speaker 3: funded a lot of our television shows.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I agree. Have you another thing that feels like bottoming out?
- 31:03Speaker 2: There's like a compute a video game that's showing up
- 31:06Speaker 2: on Netflix where you can be in a Hallmark movie.
- 31:09Speaker 2: You can play you know the girl that moved from
- 31:12Speaker 2: the big city to the small.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Town to help, you know, her widowed parent.
- 31:16Speaker 3: And I'm sorry, I'm Hallmark has become self aware.
- 31:20Speaker 2: The Hallmark movie is they know that they're bad now?
- 31:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so I and they're tipped into the bit and
- 31:26Speaker 4: we can see it.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I wanted when they were fully embarrassing themselves, of course.
- 31:31Speaker 4: But now I'm like, I can smell that you're trying
- 31:34Speaker 4: to be cringe.
- 31:34Speaker 3: We're in ugly sweater territory where it's like, again, it's
- 31:38Speaker 3: not a thing anymore because you got a hold of it.
- 31:41Speaker 3: And so I'm I'm just watching old ones, yes, when
- 31:45Speaker 3: they were still pure, so pure. That can't happen again.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Another network has to rise up with not enough money
- 31:52Speaker 3: to know that it's doing wrong, right, And then yeah,
- 31:55Speaker 3: but the monopoly thing again, back to that just a bit.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Did you watch the documentary on that I bailed pretty quickly.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Was it a monopoly dog?
- 32:02Speaker 3: It was a whole scam about the McDonald The McDonald's
- 32:05Speaker 3: thing was ultimately being cheated by the people on the inside.
- 32:11Speaker 3: It should have been a more interesting documentary.
- 32:13Speaker 4: But Doctor the Century, people on the inside are.
- 32:17Speaker 3: The vipers.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Didn't they just say with the United Healthcare thing, it's
- 32:20Speaker 2: oh boy, yeah, we shouldn't go down that road.
- 32:24Speaker 3: What is that on your left arm there?
- 32:26Speaker 2: So this is a Labyrinth quote, But I was shooting
- 32:29Speaker 2: something and they have to cover my tattoo for it,
- 32:32Speaker 2: so now it's just the weird residue. But it says
- 32:35Speaker 2: the babe with the power, oh from Labyrinth, of course,
- 32:39Speaker 2: I love David Bowie was a big sexual awakening for me,
- 32:42Speaker 2: as was Jennifer Connelly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it got covered
- 32:48Speaker 2: up and now is that's It's so amazing what they
- 32:51Speaker 2: can do with airbrush.
- 32:53Speaker 4: It starts off with this darker color and then they layer.
- 32:55Speaker 2: It's okay, it's like this like when my my friend
- 32:59Speaker 2: does drag and watching him do the makeup and the
- 33:02Speaker 2: science of it all, and that you start off with
- 33:05Speaker 2: a very dark line and then that blends. It's a
- 33:07Speaker 2: lot of uh color something, what's the an art color?
- 33:14Speaker 2: It's so extraordinary and that you can truly like change
- 33:17Speaker 2: the shape.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Of your nose right, Oh, it's amazing, like.
- 33:20Speaker 4: This, like gorgeous Cleopatra eye.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so impressed with I've never had the gift
- 33:25Speaker 2: of maidating, and I've done like the YouTube tutorials or
- 33:30Speaker 2: even at Sephora. I'm like, slow it down so I
- 33:33Speaker 2: can watch. And then still, I just had this trough
- 33:36Speaker 2: of loose makeup. The number I buy a blush and
- 33:39Speaker 2: within four days it's all over everything.
- 33:43Speaker 4: It's exploded. And I think there's two types of people.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I think there's the people with the really gorgeous makeup bag, yes,
- 33:50Speaker 2: not a stain in sight. And then I think there's
- 33:52Speaker 2: me who once maced herself because her mace got loose
- 33:55Speaker 2: in her makeup bag got on my blush and I'm
- 33:58Speaker 2: driving and you're driving doing your makeup and I like
- 34:01Speaker 2: home alone style, and I'd maced myself. So there's two
- 34:06Speaker 2: types of people. There's the people with a nice makeup
- 34:09Speaker 2: bag and the people who mace themselves because their purse
- 34:11Speaker 2: is an explosion.
- 34:12Speaker 3: I love a nice makeup bag where you hear the
- 34:14Speaker 3: clicking of all of the different makeups against each.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Other's kind amr Yeah.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Clicking and clacking. That's I think is very nice.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I don't really care.
- 34:22Speaker 4: To do my makeup, but I love the like looking
- 34:25Speaker 4: at makeup.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Oh all of it together, the possibility beautiful absolutely and
- 34:29Speaker 2: getting your makeup done or getting anyone like cutting your hair,
- 34:33Speaker 2: doing a thing that you absolutely can't do, and the
- 34:36Speaker 2: feeling the power.
- 34:37Speaker 3: We all could teach ourselves to cut our hair at home.
- 34:40Speaker 2: We could, but do we want to? I get a
- 34:42Speaker 2: little massage. Yeah, I lean back and is the temperature good?
- 34:47Speaker 2: I love that feeling. Well, do you know what a feeling?
- 34:50Speaker 2: I don't love? What? Tell me?
- 34:54Speaker 4: I'd love to know.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Well, you're gonna hear Hannah the podcast is called I
- 34:59Speaker 3: said no gift, and yeah, I was so excited to
- 35:03Speaker 3: have you here today. And I heard your car roar
- 35:06Speaker 3: into my neighborhood. I had to plug my ears, but
- 35:09Speaker 3: I was excited to have you here. And you know,
- 35:12Speaker 3: I thought we would just have a nice Saturday chat. Sure, sure, so,
- 35:16Speaker 3: And I know you've gotten emails. I know on at
- 35:18Speaker 3: Lisa has been calling you non stop to let you know.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Your podcast to not bring a gift right right, right,
- 35:24Speaker 2: delicently spelled out.
- 35:25Speaker 3: And so I was absolutely blown away when you came
- 35:30Speaker 3: into my backyard holding what is obviously clearly a gift.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Well, for all you know, that's my tote bag. You know,
- 35:38Speaker 2: that's that's where I keep my inhaler and all my makeup.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Probably you know that's where my mace is.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Your tote bag is a box with elves all over it.
- 35:46Speaker 4: And a card addressed to you.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Well, I guess I should ask, then is this a
- 35:52Speaker 3: gift for me?
- 35:53Speaker 2: It is? Okay, Well that's a gift for you. Should
- 35:55Speaker 2: I open it here? On the podcast? Yeah, I think
- 35:59Speaker 2: you ought to. It's as I says, there's something living
- 36:06Speaker 2: in there. There's a snake that up just that scene
- 36:11Speaker 2: from kill Bill, the way that I wrapped this and
- 36:15Speaker 2: stuffed it in there. I just want to warn you
- 36:17Speaker 2: it's shocking, shocking. It's sort of a Mary Poppins how
- 36:22Speaker 2: they're an umbrella in their situation.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Wonderful. Okay, so there's a little little card. I'm going
- 36:26Speaker 3: to open this up. Let's see here a lot of
- 36:30Speaker 3: tissue paper.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I think a box not filled with tissue paper is
- 36:34Speaker 2: such a waste.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Oh, it's a horrible idea.
- 36:36Speaker 4: A hollow if there's just a loose.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Given sliding around nothing, no, no care about me.
- 36:42Speaker 4: You don't care about you, never once scared about me.
- 36:44Speaker 3: You have low self a scene that you're trying to
- 36:46Speaker 3: make me have low selfish.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Why don't you take a look in the mirror, buddy.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of tissue here, So let's start.
- 36:55Speaker 2: And you're probably gonna need an explanation, okay, Okay, So
- 37:00Speaker 2: we're getting to some tissue. This is stuffed in.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Here, and I would say there's maybe a couple of gifts.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Okay, so I gotta be very careful, very ribbon.
- 37:09Speaker 2: What should I do here? And then I'm seeing a
- 37:11Speaker 2: lot of cotton very soon, My friends, this is incredible
- 37:17Speaker 2: and there are some things in the middle. It's a
- 37:19Speaker 2: two partner, Oh dazzling.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Okay. Okay, So now I found three little vials. Is
- 37:28Speaker 3: this everything?
- 37:30Speaker 2: Okay?
- 37:30Speaker 3: I just want to make sure because there's a lot
- 37:31Speaker 3: of cotton here.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Almost there's a surplus bloody it looks like a bloody bandage.
- 37:39Speaker 3: This was around your dog's paw.
- 37:42Speaker 2: I want to start by saying, this is a regift,
- 37:45Speaker 2: this is something that was very dear to me, okay,
- 37:47Speaker 2: and I'm passing. I'm so thrilled about this, and of
- 37:51Speaker 2: course I'm gonna need to explain to you what it is.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Okay, So they're three little vials. I mean they are
- 37:55Speaker 3: almost from an erotic fantasy because they're full of beautiful,
- 38:00Speaker 3: colorful glitter.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Now you know what, I don't think people are gifting
- 38:03Speaker 4: enough of what.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I don't think people are gifting enough magic, I think.
- 38:10Speaker 4: And I blessed all of those.
- 38:11Speaker 2: You blessed each one of them with different things.
- 38:14Speaker 4: The gift of spontaneity.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Okay, So which is which I'm holding the pink crack.
- 38:19Speaker 2: That's the gift of just magic.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Oh, this is pure mess, everyday magic.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Okay, So I should swallow sprinkle that over yourself or
- 38:27Speaker 2: something that you feel could use a little magic. A
- 38:29Speaker 2: piece of toast, piece of toast. You know, you're sitting
- 38:32Speaker 2: at your computer interior and you're deleting exterior, and you're deleting.
- 38:36Speaker 4: I need inspiration. I need a little magic. Sprinkle that
- 38:39Speaker 4: over your.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Twenty eighteen MacBook left just me, just me with a
- 38:43Speaker 2: MacBook that's overheating after fifteen minutes with a.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Cord that sparked the other day. I could use a
- 38:49Speaker 4: little magic, or maybe some money.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I finally had to get rid of my I tried
- 38:54Speaker 3: to stretch out a laptop about seven to eight years. Sure,
- 38:57Speaker 3: my MacBook was I think three or four years old.
- 38:59Speaker 3: But I got I was told I got the wrong model.
- 39:02Speaker 2: This thing, that's what it is. It's not that's a
- 39:04Speaker 2: decade old waffle iron. I know, if your MacBook's going,
- 39:08Speaker 2: then you have to get rid of that MacBook. My
- 39:13Speaker 2: MacBook needs one of those ports. It's so old.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so I was a little upset. I finally had
- 39:18Speaker 3: to get a new one. But I can dump this
- 39:20Speaker 3: into here.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, try the magic first. So that's the gift of magic.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 39:23Speaker 2: The silver is the gift of the fiscal gift. Oh,
- 39:27Speaker 2: it's a fiscal gift. Sprinkle that over something that you'd
- 39:29Speaker 2: like an upgrade. I'm going to freebase this. Sure, it's
- 39:34Speaker 2: do with that what you will. Okay, And that could
- 39:37Speaker 2: more be in the abstract as well. If you've got
- 39:39Speaker 2: kind of a self worth thing going on, and I
- 39:41Speaker 2: don't need to kind of project that onto you. You're
- 39:43Speaker 2: giving abundance, you're giving glowy skin. Yes, but if there's
- 39:48Speaker 2: something that you feel needs a glow up, or you know,
- 39:51Speaker 2: maybe your car, you want a night's oar, sprinkle that
- 39:53Speaker 2: over that.
- 39:54Speaker 4: You might be you might be at a dealership soon.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Okay, put this in the gas tank or the battery
- 39:58Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 39:59Speaker 2: And this is and then and so what we haven't
- 40:01Speaker 2: gotten to this one? Now, this is that's the gift
- 40:03Speaker 2: of passion.
- 40:03Speaker 3: It's a midnight blue right after hours.
- 40:06Speaker 2: That's an after hours gift. That's you to speak easy
- 40:09Speaker 2: with a whiskey sour and you're kind of and you're
- 40:11Speaker 2: kind of shuffling, and you've got one cube wearing nothing
- 40:13Speaker 2: but and you've got to tassel and you're swirling it
- 40:17Speaker 2: and you're going hellos uh. That's the gift of passion.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Taking a small vial of a mysterious thing into a bar, I.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Can't recommend it in that no one's gonna ask any questions.
- 40:28Speaker 2: And put it on and and and put and sprinkle
- 40:31Speaker 2: it into your neighboring friends drinks. So the tay too
- 40:35Speaker 2: can have the gift of passion.
- 40:37Speaker 4: No one will ask any questions.
- 40:39Speaker 3: No, I these are the most charming little vials I've
- 40:42Speaker 3: ever seen. They really do look magical, I think.
- 40:45Speaker 2: And you know, it's like we were talking about psychosomatic
- 40:47Speaker 2: the led mask. Being psychosomatic, you know, being maybe just bullshit,
- 40:51Speaker 2: but makes you feel like you're slipping from the fountain
- 40:53Speaker 2: of youth. These vials to me, whether or not there's
- 40:56Speaker 2: actual magic in there, you might feel like the act
- 41:00Speaker 2: of doing it gives you the magic.
- 41:03Speaker 4: I think so.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I think we could all benefit from acting like we're
- 41:06Speaker 2: children more often. Absolutely right, It's like we have to
- 41:09Speaker 2: read the artist's way to have fun. Right.
- 41:12Speaker 3: No, I don't need that.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I just need to sprinkle glitter all over everything and
- 41:15Speaker 2: put that in people's drinks. No, I I just I
- 41:21Speaker 2: love a little magic. I love a little whimsy in
- 41:23Speaker 2: the acts.
- 41:24Speaker 3: See what are you doing to bring whimsy into your life?
- 41:26Speaker 2: Getting labyrinth tattoos? Watching, going to puppet shows? Oh do
- 41:31Speaker 2: you go to Bob Baker Love Bob Baker. Jim Henson
- 41:35Speaker 2: Studios is about to start doing live puppet whose They
- 41:40Speaker 2: we do like muppet type shows. This was just brought
- 41:43Speaker 2: to my they do muppet puppet improv. Wow. I know,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and I somehow I've been missing this, but things like that, right, Uh,
- 41:52Speaker 2: just I don't know. Go take some paints to the park.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Frolic frolic, absolutely fry that out for size. I saw
- 42:01Speaker 2: a video of someone skipping and they were like, it's
- 42:03Speaker 2: a way more efficient way to get around. Now.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Listen, am I gonna skip around the Albertsons? No?
- 42:09Speaker 3: Maybe after you sign a petition to get California two states.
- 42:13Speaker 2: You're skipping with glee. Yeah, I didn't want that. Okay,
- 42:18Speaker 2: let me hear the face of that.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Before we started recording, I tried to sell you a
- 42:22Speaker 3: lot of crypto.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Right, but ethereum's up right now, so I hear, couldn't
- 42:28Speaker 2: be me to invest in that. I come from a
- 42:31Speaker 2: lot of fiscal bad, bad choices.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Like mother, like daughter.
- 42:37Speaker 3: But and also with crypto, I mean, I mean, I
- 42:41Speaker 3: guess it is kind of in this category where you're
- 42:43Speaker 3: just believing.
- 42:44Speaker 2: But this doesn't crypto. You're right, you're oh, my god,
- 42:48Speaker 2: is crypto whimsical?
- 42:49Speaker 3: Crypto is whimsical? Maybe this is how we ruined crypto
- 42:52Speaker 3: because we make it a little bit more less bro
- 42:55Speaker 3: And then all those guys are scared. They're like, I
- 42:57Speaker 3: don't want to be whimsical.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Crypto is make believe I give you this money.
- 43:04Speaker 3: It's taken the money is already such a fictional concept
- 43:08Speaker 3: that we've all agreed to, and it's taken it to
- 43:10Speaker 3: a new level, to erotic fantasy level that is unsustainable.
- 43:15Speaker 4: It's all made up. But at least we can print dollars.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Yes, I can hold a dollar, right, I mean I
- 43:20Speaker 2: kind of need something.
- 43:21Speaker 3: I need liquidity, right, I need something that I can
- 43:23Speaker 3: throw in someone's face and say, this is all you
- 43:25Speaker 3: care about.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Here's that money I owe you. Yeah, you do that
- 43:30Speaker 2: at the after hours bar as you're swirling your tassel.
- 43:34Speaker 2: You know what that gift is. That's the gift of drama.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's pure And I'm not talking about vander Pump Rules drama.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I'm talking about life, just having a bit more zest,
- 43:43Speaker 2: a bit doing everything, but just doing it a.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Bit extra extra extra. It feels like I feel like
- 43:49Speaker 3: a spray bottle of glitter would be a good self
- 43:51Speaker 3: defense tool. Sure, that adds a little extra fun to
- 43:54Speaker 3: the attack. You know, I love that, but but enjoy.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yeah, africadabra. Sorry, I was talking to my dog. I
- 44:05Speaker 2: was trying to fetch my dog over there and may
- 44:07Speaker 2: see you at the same time.
- 44:09Speaker 4: I love a spray bottle of mace.
- 44:13Speaker 2: That feels again like something that I would that would
- 44:15Speaker 2: accidentally leak in my purse. Is that an option for me?
- 44:19Speaker 2: Just a yeah, listen, I'm sure that you could buy
- 44:23Speaker 2: just loose mace on the internet on the dark web,
- 44:27Speaker 2: go all the way to the dark ones, just get
- 44:29Speaker 2: a ziploc bag of mace.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Speaking of the dark web, I was just listening to
- 44:34Speaker 3: a podcast called The kill List.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Have you heard of this?
- 44:37Speaker 3: It's about hired killers that people hire on the dark web,
- 44:43Speaker 3: and apparently it turns out it's mostly a scam. Sure,
- 44:46Speaker 3: but this the theory.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Ashley Madison of Hitman kind of the guy who created
- 44:53Speaker 2: this podcast. He's like, well, what's happening is these people
- 44:57Speaker 2: are hiring a killer for thousands and thousands of dollars.
- 45:00Speaker 2: It's not happening, but because they're willing to put that
- 45:02Speaker 2: money forth, they're probably gonna end up killing their spouse.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Because it's almost always this one hundred percent.
- 45:07Speaker 3: It's like, kill my ex wife. Here's thirty thousand dollars,
- 45:10Speaker 3: and then the dark web goes away and right now
- 45:13Speaker 3: they're just embarrassed.
- 45:13Speaker 2: How often is it actually like the ransom notes that
- 45:16Speaker 2: are being like I'm watching that, Jean Benet, Oh there's
- 45:19Speaker 2: a new one. There's a new one.
- 45:20Speaker 4: There's no new information.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Of course, that's how the Zodiac thing was.
- 45:23Speaker 2: I hate how Netflix is doing three part series that
- 45:26Speaker 2: need to be fifty minutes max, okause the first twenty
- 45:30Speaker 2: minutes is a series of jump cuts of people going
- 45:33Speaker 2: I've worked a long time in my field and I've
- 45:36Speaker 2: never seen a case like this, And then it cuts
- 45:38Speaker 2: to someone else, and you know, it's like journalist, I've
- 45:40Speaker 2: written a lot of stories and in all my years,
- 45:43Speaker 2: this story is the most hard hitting. Of course, over
- 45:47Speaker 2: and over again for like eight to fifteen minutes.
- 45:49Speaker 3: We've run out of true crimes.
- 45:50Speaker 2: We've run out of true Can people be committing more crimes? Yeah,
- 45:54Speaker 2: we've got to get so we can watch it and
- 45:56Speaker 2: be spooked in our beds. No. I love true crime,
- 46:02Speaker 2: and I'm sick of these these stretched out.
- 46:05Speaker 3: These documentaries on Netflix are wasting all of our time.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Yah.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Just I don't know if you watched the recent Zodiac one,
- 46:11Speaker 3: but I did. Absolute waste of everyone's time. No new information,
- 46:17Speaker 3: of course, the new testimonials are also I'm like, sorry,
- 46:21Speaker 3: I just think that I don't know that I believe this.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Maybe they're banking on people that don't know about the story,
- 46:26Speaker 2: the eighteen year olds that don't know what a walkman is,
- 46:28Speaker 2: the people that didn't see National Inquire articles about Jean Benet. Right, well,
- 46:33Speaker 2: just drag your old documentary at the top of the
- 46:35Speaker 2: pile and showing I'm not saying I don't understand why
- 46:39Speaker 2: we need a new one. Gosh, that's sort of the
- 46:41Speaker 2: theme of this episode is you got a blank check?
- 46:44Speaker 2: What are you gonna do the same thing.
- 46:46Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about Jean Benet again.
- 46:48Speaker 2: You're gonna do Gladiator and it's the same script. You're
- 46:50Speaker 2: You're not fooling us, And add a couple of sharks.
- 46:54Speaker 3: No, add some sharks to the Jean Benet story.
- 46:56Speaker 2: That's okay. If you're gonna do a Jan Benet do over,
- 47:00Speaker 2: add some sharks. Just it can be a loose theory.
- 47:05Speaker 2: We've gotten every other theory. Maybe there was a two
- 47:07Speaker 2: sharks in a trench coat that dressed a Santa Claus.
- 47:12Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Yeah, that's yeah.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Just I mean, if you're going to keep doing it,
- 47:16Speaker 3: just bring up some new theories.
- 47:18Speaker 2: It's so interesting that we as a society need crave
- 47:22Speaker 2: watching the like It's like SPU's the most popular, always
- 47:25Speaker 2: the most grizzly haunting stories that we gravitate towards.
- 47:29Speaker 4: What is that?
- 47:29Speaker 3: I think I feel like I've actually heard somebody. Somebody
- 47:32Speaker 3: had a pretty succinct explanation of why this is, and
- 47:36Speaker 3: I can't remember anything about it, but it was basically
- 47:38Speaker 3: like a part of it is self protection, where you're like,
- 47:42Speaker 3: you're you at least feel like you're learning how to
- 47:44Speaker 3: keep yourself from that happening to you, Okay, And then
- 47:49Speaker 3: I guess the rest of the rest of it were
- 47:51Speaker 3: just freaks that tracks.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Because when I was a kid, I would watch unsolved
- 47:54Speaker 2: mysteries the most haunting of all. Oh, because and what's
- 47:58Speaker 2: funny is in true crime in a way most of
- 48:00Speaker 2: them are unsolved mystery, Yes, but it's the fact that
- 48:02Speaker 2: they would end every episode and say, if you have
- 48:04Speaker 2: any information on the whereabouts or any further information on
- 48:08Speaker 2: this case, call this number.
- 48:10Speaker 4: There was one about it was.
- 48:12Speaker 2: A family that went to the Grand Canyon and they
- 48:14Speaker 2: were intents and the parents were in a tent and
- 48:16Speaker 2: the little kid was in a tent and apparate tent.
- 48:19Speaker 2: I know, well rude, because it gets very cold there
- 48:21Speaker 2: at night. Why weren't they all huddling together like three bears? Right?
- 48:25Speaker 4: But that was their prerogative. Maybe they wanted to.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Make some whoopee have meaningful sex in beautiful production design.
- 48:33Speaker 2: But they cut a hole in the tent and they
- 48:37Speaker 2: scooped the kid out, And it was one of those
- 48:39Speaker 2: where there really was a kidnapper and they've never found
- 48:41Speaker 2: the little girl. So I was convinced that someone was
- 48:45Speaker 2: gonna cut me out of something, of course, and scoop
- 48:48Speaker 2: me out naturally.
- 48:49Speaker 3: And we don't think it was just the parents and
- 48:51Speaker 3: they like it feels like a perfect excuse. While he
- 48:54Speaker 3: was in a different tent. How could I mean, of
- 48:56Speaker 3: course he got kidnapped.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Right exactly. You were asking for that right. So often too,
- 49:01Speaker 2: it's it's about wealth, right, like the Elizabeth Smart case,
- 49:04Speaker 2: they there was a ransom situation.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Smart. I grew up in Utah. Actually I can very
- 49:09Speaker 3: specifically remember this happening in real time, like my uncle
- 49:12Speaker 3: lived in the neighborhood, and like it was a horrible situation.
- 49:16Speaker 3: That situation was not ransom. It was a lunatic, a
- 49:20Speaker 3: religious fanatic who basically thought he was a prophet and
- 49:25Speaker 3: was trying to create a new uh something or other
- 49:29Speaker 3: with wives.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Oh, it's so interesting that I gave you the gift
- 49:33Speaker 2: of whimsy, and now we're talking about murder kidnapping gone
- 49:37Speaker 2: too far deptour there, and I thought, whose imaginations got
- 49:43Speaker 2: too big? Right? Right, if they just had.
- 49:47Speaker 3: A creative outlet, they wouldn't be kidnapping and throwing their
- 49:49Speaker 3: kids into the Grand Canyon.
- 49:50Speaker 2: That's if they had had the pixie dust, right, things
- 49:54Speaker 2: could have looked really different. It's not interesting as humans
- 49:57Speaker 2: that It's like we started magic and we still have
- 49:59Speaker 2: to skew to tragicy. Yes, we always just kind of
- 50:03Speaker 2: slide right. Uh, it's good to see you, my Uh.
- 50:10Speaker 3: The one unsolved mysteries that and this may have been
- 50:13Speaker 3: a what was the other one called America's Must Wanted Sure,
- 50:16Speaker 3: but this was must have been unsolved mysteries because.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Probably he was more for kids.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Why but I think it was like on Friday nights
- 50:24Speaker 3: when your parents went out, and so that's.
- 50:26Speaker 2: When you were turning guys, gather out and we're popping
- 50:29Speaker 2: on in some mysteries.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Put the candy and the popcorn and let's start this thing.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 3: For me, the one that stood out and I can
- 50:37Speaker 3: still remember was there was a guy that would call
- 50:40Speaker 3: Pizza Hut and have a delivery to like an and
- 50:42Speaker 3: it would end up being an empty field and the
- 50:44Speaker 3: person would get murdered.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Okay, spooky, who's delivering pizza to an empty field?
- 50:50Speaker 3: Well, they didn't have the Google address to check out
- 50:52Speaker 3: if it was an empty field or were.
- 50:53Speaker 4: They printing a map quest out and they had to
- 50:56Speaker 4: go that. You remember that?
- 50:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and your mom meant to drop you off
- 50:59Speaker 2: and she's like, what was west?
- 51:02Speaker 4: It's a cloth act.
- 51:03Speaker 3: I can't believe we survived through map Quest.
- 51:05Speaker 2: And I know what I just did to your ear
- 51:06Speaker 2: there with the sound I reached, I went into a
- 51:09Speaker 2: I went into Ariana Grande and wicked head voice.
- 51:12Speaker 3: I thought, blood rushing, and I want to apologize.
- 51:16Speaker 4: And when I do that next time, we'll do like.
- 51:19Speaker 2: What I think that was still probably peaking for someone
- 51:24Speaker 2: that has a low registered voice, I can go astoundingly.
- 51:27Speaker 3: It was a beautiful note you hit there. It's a
- 51:29Speaker 3: high sea.
- 51:32Speaker 2: There's been some confusion. I loved Wicked Yeah map Quest
- 51:39Speaker 2: and I was like, that's a crazy case.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a It was a dark one where
- 51:43Speaker 3: I guess all these pizza delivery people were vanishing and
- 51:45Speaker 3: all they wanted was to take the pizza.
- 51:47Speaker 2: And all they were probably doing was getting a summer
- 51:50Speaker 2: gigah to go back to school.
- 51:53Speaker 4: That sucks.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Vanished vanished, And I don't think that.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Murder is good, but that feels like an especially.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Because this one was These people were trying to have
- 52:00Speaker 3: fun and making a few extra bucks.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Because it's so fun to deliver pizza.
- 52:04Speaker 4: I'm always saying I'm loving doing that.
- 52:07Speaker 3: I will say I've never delivered pizza. I had a
- 52:09Speaker 3: friend who did deliver pizza, and we would go along
- 52:12Speaker 3: with him on occasional fun. You get to listen to
- 52:14Speaker 3: all your favorite music, you have the smell of pizza
- 52:16Speaker 3: in the air. As a teenager, at least, it was
- 52:19Speaker 3: a thrill. It's a very like teenage vibe.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Joining along reminds me of I was in an uber
- 52:24Speaker 2: the other day and there was just the uber driver's
- 52:26Speaker 2: wife in the front seat and me in the back,
- 52:28Speaker 2: and I thought, that's a choice. I wasn't mad at it.
- 52:30Speaker 2: We had a really nice conversation. I learned about their love.
- 52:33Speaker 2: But is that allowed.
- 52:34Speaker 3: I don't know that that's legal in the uber world, right.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I also had an uber driver watching the Disney movie
- 52:40Speaker 2: Ice Princesses while driving me. They had an iPad propped up.
- 52:45Speaker 2: iPad propped up, but.
- 52:47Speaker 4: The phone was loose.
- 52:48Speaker 2: The phone didn't have a magnet, but the iPad did,
- 52:51Speaker 2: and they were watching a future film that might I
- 52:54Speaker 2: add is gripping Michelle Trachtenberg, Kim Katrol.
- 53:00Speaker 4: She's a demanding stage mom of the ice.
- 53:03Speaker 2: It's but I thought, and I didn't even say anything,
- 53:07Speaker 2: you can't. I let them drive me from Pasadena to
- 53:10Speaker 2: West LA and we watched forty minutes in the freeway
- 53:14Speaker 2: of ice princesses.
- 53:16Speaker 3: If there's something bad happening in an uber or lyft
- 53:18Speaker 3: and you comment on it, now, it's.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Just going to get worse. That's exactly nothing will improve.
- 53:23Speaker 4: And I the least confrontational.
- 53:24Speaker 2: There could be a thumb in my soup and I
- 53:26Speaker 2: would be like, Oh, it's probably it's probably my thumb.
- 53:29Speaker 2: You know. It's so hard to ask for what you want.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I've got a massage. I've got I get like one
- 53:33Speaker 2: massage every two years, right, And it was way too hard,
- 53:36Speaker 2: and I suffered in silence for I was like, is
- 53:39Speaker 2: that And they even asked is that good? Yes? Awesome? Loving?
- 53:44Speaker 2: You know what, get even deeper in there, whatever's fun
- 53:47Speaker 2: for you. Let's grab another person to hop on top
- 53:49Speaker 2: of me. Just have them jump up and down. It's
- 53:53Speaker 2: so scary to us for what you want.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Oh, it's terrifying. I'm so mad at it.
- 53:58Speaker 2: When I like shop at the target or something thing
- 54:00Speaker 2: and I'll skip it.
- 54:03Speaker 3: You're not verble, No, I rarely speak up for myself.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Why is it so hard?
- 54:09Speaker 3: Well, it's kind of cozy not to.
- 54:12Speaker 2: I should have given you the gift of bravery. Oh
- 54:15Speaker 2: and given myself that.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Right next appearance, bring a full bottle of right self confidence.
- 54:21Speaker 2: But everyone, in a way is the cowardly lion. And
- 54:23Speaker 2: I don't know why the Wicked.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Your viper has a car wrap around it.
- 54:29Speaker 2: That's a Wicked billboard. It's one of those rotating They
- 54:32Speaker 2: paid me two hundred dollars to Wicked. Two dollars, just
- 54:36Speaker 2: five hundred million and two hundred dollars.
- 54:40Speaker 3: We have two hundred left. Find a lady with a viper.
- 54:42Speaker 2: And my viper got nineteen people to see Wicked. They're like,
- 54:46Speaker 2: it's so loud, that car so loud, it must be
- 54:50Speaker 2: telling the truth. Oh man, well you didn't. Actually, I gave.
- 54:54Speaker 4: You a two part gift.
- 54:56Speaker 3: And wait, what's the second part?
- 54:57Speaker 2: Will you threw it on the ground the cotton, that's
- 55:01Speaker 2: a gift that's actually the main gift. It's a wig. Okay,
- 55:04Speaker 2: so that is a gnomes that's a GNOME's beard. Oh
- 55:09Speaker 2: that you're supposed to tie that around.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Holding this up, it immediately becomes clear that it's a beer.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Did you just think that was like tissue paper? I
- 55:17Speaker 2: thought it was dirty cotton, And and you're not wrong.
- 55:21Speaker 2: This looks like.
- 55:22Speaker 3: A bandage from like a World War One hospital.
- 55:26Speaker 4: Because so maybe it's dual purpose.
- 55:28Speaker 2: When you get on your kind of Stoka wagon when
- 55:30Speaker 2: you're injured, you can use that, but you can also.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Full beer gnome old beer. I'll wear this until I
- 55:38Speaker 3: sweat at least.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Oh, I mean when this global winter we're having. Does
- 55:44Speaker 2: this suit me?
- 55:44Speaker 4: I think it's so good.
- 55:47Speaker 2: You can you can take that into the bedroom and
- 55:49Speaker 2: do with that what you will. You can walk around
- 55:52Speaker 2: the grove wearing that and just bring joy to young kids.
- 55:55Speaker 2: You can. You could also be Santa in that. It's
- 55:58Speaker 2: a gift that keeps on any white beer man. You
- 56:01Speaker 2: can be a white man. You can be a white
- 56:04Speaker 2: bearded white man. Everyone's asking for more of those.
- 56:08Speaker 3: I'm already sweating, but we'll keep it on for a
- 56:10Speaker 3: bit longer.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Where did this come from I was, and I'll show
- 56:14Speaker 2: you a picture in a minute, or I won't. I
- 56:18Speaker 2: was holding Yeah, I don't holding this. I'm developing a
- 56:22Speaker 2: neck problem. Yeah, and you can and we get it now.
- 56:25Speaker 4: You can always you can.
- 56:26Speaker 2: I won't be offended if you take that off. You
- 56:28Speaker 2: can wear it as a bib, a lobster bib. You
- 56:31Speaker 2: can also wear that a red lobster or the crab
- 56:34Speaker 2: shack and just get your your loose. I don't have
- 56:36Speaker 2: to wear a shirt with this.
- 56:37Speaker 3: I could wear this as kind of what are those
- 56:39Speaker 3: things called. It's like a sort of top.
- 56:41Speaker 2: Is this not a biby?
- 56:43Speaker 4: A dicky?
- 56:44Speaker 2: Uh?
- 56:46Speaker 3: I mean, it's kind of a Christina Aguilera.
- 56:49Speaker 4: Circa dirty era. It's just the front.
- 56:52Speaker 3: I wear this with chaps, also made of color.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Wear that with chaps, and then you do or do
- 56:58Speaker 2: not send me a picture. It's totally a to you.
- 57:00Speaker 3: It'll be a video. It'll be an hours.
- 57:04Speaker 4: Long, at least a live photo that goes on way
- 57:06Speaker 4: too long.
- 57:07Speaker 2: I love the live photo that ends up in a
- 57:09Speaker 2: nude at the very end, because you didn't know how.
- 57:11Speaker 4: It's like a zoom and you didn't know the camera
- 57:13Speaker 4: was on. I wasn't known this Halloween.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Oh, and my cousin and I have a tradition. I
- 57:19Speaker 2: go visit her in Atlanta because Atlanta's Halloween is is
- 57:23Speaker 2: quintessential Halloween town, not picture.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Atlanta is a Halloween town.
- 57:27Speaker 2: Got porches, You've got crunchy leaves, You've got the parents
- 57:30Speaker 2: are dressing up too. And something I will say is
- 57:33Speaker 2: all the parents of the kids in Atlanta were hot.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Oh interesting.
- 57:37Speaker 2: I don't know if my biological clock is taking or something,
- 57:40Speaker 2: but every mom and dad could get it.
- 57:42Speaker 3: They were smoking hot.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Well there, and they're dressing up in hot I'm talking
- 57:47Speaker 2: like Likera suit. Oh, they're dressing up like the Incredibles.
- 57:51Speaker 2: But if the Incredibles.
- 57:52Speaker 3: People are pretty hot, couple.
- 57:54Speaker 4: Kind of hot, right, they're wearing skin tight suits.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Oh beautiful. But that's not in addition the parents being
- 58:01Speaker 2: able to get it. The town is just gorgeous and
- 58:05Speaker 2: the porches are gorgeous, and everyone goes all out. But
- 58:08Speaker 2: with the tradition is that we I arrive and we
- 58:11Speaker 2: give ourselves about four hours to like put a costume together,
- 58:14Speaker 2: like we're a TLC show. And so yeah, so I
- 58:18Speaker 2: took construction paper and I made the pointy hat and
- 58:20Speaker 2: then I found mushroom stickers. And then I had this
- 58:23Speaker 2: kind of like berries and cream shirt with a fun
- 58:28Speaker 2: collar and overalls. And then she sewed. She's big into quilting,
- 58:34Speaker 2: and I don't know why you need that for a quilt.
- 58:37Speaker 4: The inside.
- 58:38Speaker 3: Yeah, this is like the batting. That's the word, bring
- 58:44Speaker 3: me the batching.
- 58:45Speaker 4: The swivel, what is it?
- 58:46Speaker 2: The swivel?
- 58:47Speaker 4: What's the remote called?
- 58:49Speaker 3: The swamper? The clicker?
- 58:51Speaker 2: Oh?
- 58:51Speaker 4: What do you call splinters?
- 58:52Speaker 3: Sliver?
- 58:53Speaker 4: Sliver?
- 58:53Speaker 3: Sliver is a better word for a control than swamper.
- 58:57Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 58:58Speaker 3: It's more of a sliver, especially for Apple TV.
- 59:00Speaker 2: But this is the inards of this is the quick
- 59:03Speaker 2: gets under the skin and and so she made that
- 59:07Speaker 2: for me and you're and it was a hot night.
- 59:09Speaker 3: She whipped this up one hundred four hours.
- 59:11Speaker 2: It's incredible. Put the ribbon around it. Do you have
- 59:14Speaker 2: the gift of crafty handiness?
- 59:16Speaker 3: Absolutely not. I was in a in The Ultimate craft.
- 59:26Speaker 4: Is it cake or did they mount to TV?
- 59:28Speaker 1: Both?
- 59:29Speaker 3: That's a movie. I want to see a TV show starring.
- 59:32Speaker 4: Shared Stone full frontal. Within the first.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Two minutes, she's trying to mount a TV. She's doing
- 59:39Speaker 2: it so sexy. The cameras mounted in the wall for
- 59:43Speaker 2: some reason. Oh what were you saying?
- 59:46Speaker 4: I'm so sorry. We deviated.
- 59:48Speaker 2: God only knows well.
- 59:51Speaker 4: Love a podcast for that love a deviation.
- 59:53Speaker 3: We were talking about beards and cotton and slivers and
- 59:57Speaker 3: sharing stone front fe Atlanta, And to me that actually
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: kind of crafty handiness. Oh yeah, not crafty.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Uh. I don't know.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: If you had to take sewing in middle school. I did,
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: and homack I bombed me too. I was like a
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: decent suit in other categories. I was like the student
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: that the teacher felt bad for, like I had to
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: stay after Oh what did you make? We had to
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: make wind socks?
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: What's a wind sock?
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: So that even what it's called socks that.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: You ParaSail in. What's a wind sock? I know about
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: a wind chime, I know about it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: I know what a wind sock is.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: It's like a it's like a fabric tube, different colors
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: that blows.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: The inflatable tube. Man, it's kind of.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: The predecessor of that thing. What is a wind sock
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: for beautiful decor? Oh, it's not to wear, not to
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: although it would make a slinky little costume.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Okay, I like a compression sock, but the opposite.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Imagine a what is the type of dress that, Yeah,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: you can imagine.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: Easy to call it that.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: What would you call it? A mobile of whimsy? Well,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: now with the personality as opposed to all these other
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: lame fucking.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: Mobiles, well that's a rooshock.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Welcome to earth Winds.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: I tried to make one with the Utah Jazz colors
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: and failed miserably, and then missus whoever she was, basically
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: had to take over the sewing machine for me. Oh,
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: I think I was scared of getting my fingers sucked in.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: I think that's really.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: Fing machines are spooky.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: I mean, it's a final destination moment, it is.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: And they make it look so easy on Project Runway,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: but they're they're moving their hands around a needle that's
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: puncturing over and over again.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Over and there they've got their foot literally on the gas.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: I'm with you, it's spooky.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not for me. My mom ansister are both
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: great quilters and sewers, but I didn't get that. I
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: didn't get that ability me neither.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: And it's and I love art. I love to consume art.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: I like you know. I guess my trade is performance.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Or performance if you will.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: I've been to wear a wig or kind of gnomes beer.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: A spiritual sewing machine.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: But the but the working with your hands. I also
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: hated woodworking class.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Oh, I mean, don't even get we started with that.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: And my brother in law is one of his an
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: imagineer and he's one of those people who can just
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: like whittle a walking stick.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: That was my dream job, to be an imagined imagineer.
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: But you lacked a lot of this.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: I simply didn't have one of the skills.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you didn't even have one of them. They're like,
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: you know what, we'll let us slide if you have
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: even one of the skills.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: The one physics class I took in college was literally
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: called how things work.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: So that's imagineering is crazy because in your head you're like, oh,
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: someone just comes up with ideas. No, they need to
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: be an architect, a physicist all around, greg yeh, which
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: because you got to work with that person.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: Yeah, all of like most of those things don't usually converge.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: It's like usually you have a real math brain, but
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: you're not creative, right, Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: It's like imagineers are physicists wearing Hawaiian shirts and you're like,
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: some people can't have it all.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Yes, I think they are probably one people that have
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: it all the other. I mean, what you've nailed what
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: an imagineer is, and I can't fit into that clothing.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I would have been laughed out of the imagineer in college.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: I don't think Eddie Bauer is our journey. I don't
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: think so. No, you're a dapper. You're dapper.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Let's be honest. I'm simply too dapper. That's the only problem.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Otherwise, you're so good at physics. Complete. That's the first interview,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: is they just they just have you mount to TV?
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: The second interview is is a cake situation?
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: They have to a hyper realistic cake?
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: She would have to do? Yeah?
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: Interesting, I need to get those imagineers on the line.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: I'm not happy with what they did with the Hollywood
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Tower of Terror.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: I haven't seen it yet. What do you like about it?
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: They turned it into a marveling and it was a
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: perfect ride. Did you ever go on it?
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Oh? I love the Okay, now I'm remembering. I love
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: the Tower of Terror. Are you talking about now? It's
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Guardian to the Galaxy. I went on that ride and
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: thought I was having a heart attack. You may, I
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: think this is what a heart attack feels like. But
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: how I who knew they could be so fun? Because
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: you're because you're dip, you're dropping, dipping and dropping. It's
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: because I took my focus pill that morning and then
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: and then you're on a thing with the Oh that's
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: a drop, and I'm already on my ten milligrams of
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: AfterAll that I'm prescribed, just blasted on it. Yeah, I was.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: I think I'm having a heart attack, but I'm but
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: I'm smiling ear to ear. I hear you, I hear you.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I I have no frame of reference. I never saw
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: the Tower of the Tower.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Dude, they said with the Tower of Terror was unlike
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: anything else on earth. Sure, it was so eerie and creepy.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: And then you got to go up and down and
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: up and down you got to see I mean everything
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: about it was so perfect.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: And now it's rock and roll because also story to
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: get us to the Guardians of the Galaxy, it's a
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: real it's a it's it's reaching, it's thin, it's a
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: thin storyline.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Yes, whereas the Hollywood Tower of Terror was, you're checking
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: into a haunted hotel. Of course this is going to
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: go wrong, right right, the.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: David S Pumpkins of spooky.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Yes, it was. It was very spooky. And I'll never
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: forgive them, and nor should you, and I have no
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: reason to. And I never know where.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Because it sounds like you love and you love aesthetic
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: as well, you know where you need to go. Then
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: it's called the Efteling. It's a theme park in Holland.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: It's the most incredible production design you've ever seen. What
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: is this? Gnomes, trolls, goblins, which you know I'm about,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: of course. And there's a ride called and it's and
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: it's really got a gorgeous ring to it. It's a
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: dream flight and it's it's a seven minute experience and
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: you go through a fairies a fairies land.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: I can't believe I've never heard of this.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: It's you got to go if you're ever going to Europe,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: definitely step passed through.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: And what is it called the Fling?
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: How do you spell that?
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: E F T E L I N G.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I think it won an award, several awards for like
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: best Ride.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: And I bet they have a bunch of delightful pastries.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: They oh gosh. They have Choco mel is, a better
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: chocolate milk, and in the winter they have a hot
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: chocomel with whipped cream and a candy cane. I'm going.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: And they have a fairytale village where they've recreated. Anton
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Peak is the illustrator and they approached him in like
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: the forties or something because it used to just be
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: like a park, and they said, would you want to
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: create the illustrations and and bring this fairy tale village
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: to life. It's the most whimsical thing you've ever seen.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: It's googling this as soon as the podcast. I'm the
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: show up now, so.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: You can get to your googling and I can get
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: to looking up people with a genuine connection.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: Beautiful production design. It's the weekend.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Let me have my fun.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Wow, this one's really delightful.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: It's great. That's my vacation. It's all practical. It's it's
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: all you know. It's like the none of the rides.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: It's not about speed there, it's all about.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: Just the being in the moment.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Yeah, vibes and world building.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: And now they could just get one elevator that drops,
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: They have something called Dance Macabre and I think in
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: theory it's kind of that and very you know, gorgeous score,
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: gorgeous production design. Okay, when are you there?
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: I was there. I went on a belated honeymoon. I
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: mean I've been a bunch.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I've been going since I was like three or four,
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: but I went most recently this summer with my husband,
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: and it's I really feel like a five year old
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: is your family from there? My dad's Dutch.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: That's why you said swamp.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: For oh, okay, so now we're getting we're unpeeling the
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: layers here. So maybe they call it the swamper over there.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: They maybe that's what it is. They really well they
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: you know what they call goosebumps antits, Oh.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: I don't like, which is like that's too small, that's.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: Way too small that I mean, that's my even.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Ant it would be.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: So I mean that ant has had some work done
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: and I've.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: Got some boldest ass bumps minor big.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Yeah. They also call it goose pimples.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Goose pimples. I've heard this, which kind of makes sense.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: It's like that gross chickens, right, Yeah, I think we
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: kind of we should have left it alone.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: Yeah, don't touch it.
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: Yeah, goose pimples him and tits bumps.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: You know it's it's an amal, it's you know, you
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: can interpret.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: It however you wish. Yeah.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just on a trip with some friends.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: In one of the we were in Mexico City, and
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: one ordered for breakfast eggs with ant caviar, which I guess,
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: I mean, it makes sense. I guess you can see
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: an ant egg.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: He's like eating a cricket.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: It's like eating a cricket. They say it's good protein
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: wrap put it in chocolate.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: You just have to get around if you. I think
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: if you weren't told, that's always my problem, the mental sure.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: But the texture of a cricket. Wouldn't you kind of
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: be like that's a bug. I don't know if you'd
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: be like, it's shit chicken?
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: Is it cake?
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: I don't know if you I'm really pushing that. I've
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: been realized, is it cake cake? You just got it
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: a wicket? And is it ca? Yeah? And I am
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: a new producer on this, trying to revive the show.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: They just had a holiday special They're back. Baby. Never
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: went away, It never went on. I never watched the show.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: I don't know how many people did I felt like
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: I had had enough after one TikTok or whatever. Sure,
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: I think I just am always like mind blown that
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: they pull it off right, that they make like a seashell.
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: Cake or or a walkman cake. Anyway, we can move on.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: This episode was recorded in April of twenty twenty. Yeah, exactly,
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: it does feel very twenty twenty Codd.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Okay, Well, is there anything left to say about this
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: gorgeous beer?
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: I just hope that you experienced the same magic that
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: Well, this is I already am. I mean, this is
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: a you know I feel.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: Wearing on just my arm for a good half hour.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: For a minute, I thought I was having perimenopause, and
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: I'm in my early thirties, but I had a full
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: he you were talking and I was I was like
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: a Dolly clock. I was melting. But I'm back.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: I had a water and I'm back.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: I just read All Fours by Miranda July.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Have you read that? Oh?
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: I love Miranda July.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: I haven't read.
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: Deals with this topic exactly periopause, And it makes me
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: wonder if she goes to my same gym she described
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: the gym described in this book.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: Uh, that's a very vivid description.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not that vivid of a description. It's just
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: there's a certain couple of things. It's the gym in
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: the book is in a basement, and it's run by
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: a husband and wife team, and the character is in La. Okay,
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: how many basement gyms run by husband and wife teams
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: do you think there are in La?
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Not?
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: Well, maybe a couple, but probably not many.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and are together. I love that they're deeply in love.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: They've got so they're probably just super fit.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: They're super fit, they have great taste in TV.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: They go to when they had go on a date.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: It's like a cryogenics chamber, they probably.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I love that for them.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: So I'm keeping my eyes out from Miranda. Okay, she
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: might be there. I'm maybe for all I know, I
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: was one of the characters in the book, I might
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: as well assume.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: But is there a description of a dapper.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Well, there's a character that she describes as someone who
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: simply could not be an imagineer.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: So that's what it is, and looked no for it
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: could definitely not mount the TV, definitely not.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: I gotta read that book.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I've got these beautiful magic glitters, which I'm
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: so excited about. And I have this beard which can
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: also be worn as a cute.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Little top and a bib for crapshack bibe almost to anything.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: I'm always your crab run off our live shows.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: I've only had one piece of clothing acceptable for our
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: live shows that's been given to me on the podcast,
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: and I've been wearing it, and Okay, so now I'm
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: starting to get a feeling this may come into play
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: at some point that feels even more inappropriate than what
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I have been wearing.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: And if you there's just you know, if you want
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: to if you it's a theme party, right theme, and
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: you know they're like no future.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: There's just so many things this beard could be.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: And I just can't wait to see it pop up
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: on your Instagram. Taxis Flourish. Can't wait to be stalking
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: to be sure that you wear that at least once,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: or otherwise I'm gonna be really upset.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: It will be on at least on Instagram once. Okay,
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: the listener, I feel like I never up top tell
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: people that we have an Instagram. It's like the last
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: thing I say in the credits of the podcast.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: Well, it's very sweet. But I guess I start my day.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I look at your Instagram and I go, it's gonna
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: be a good time to get going, And he said,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: no gifts.
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: I'm bringing a gift.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: I have the strength. Well, I think we should play
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: a game now, Okay, I love that on only what
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: do you.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Think should we play Gift Master? It's been a long time.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: I do think there are people that are mad. Okay,
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: we're gonna play the game called Gift Master. I need
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: to number between one and ten from you seven, Okay,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I speaking to me do some light calculations to get
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: out game pieces. So right now you can promote, recommend,
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: do whatever you want with the mic.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: It's so funny. I am. If it's out in January,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: I'm I just started on a TV show. We can
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: cut this out if it's not. But they haven't announced
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: it yet, so I'm afraid to announce it. So I
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: guess I'll just say I have a project coming and
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: just keep an eye out for when I can announce it.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: You can follow me on Instagram at Hannah pilkis h
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: A n n A h p I l k E
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: s there on my Instagram, you can you can learn
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: about the project I'm working on when I can talk
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: about it. What if it doesn't exist, I never announce it.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Keep teasing it.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: God, we keep going on that.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: I said, no gifts, podcasts in Hannah's and no announcement
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: to be found that But honestly, that's a good way
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: to keep people looking. Oh yeah, I've got a project
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: coming out that I can't announce, but I will soon.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: But check in daily and like and comment.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: This is very sky fererra behavior. Actually, she's been put
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: an album for the last I mean it's not her
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: fault entirely, the.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Rihanna of announcements. Yes, the Rihanna album.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: God, I love Rihanna and I would kill for another album.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: He's not putting out another album?
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Thing?
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: Why why bother at this point? Unless she really just
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: wants to is for fun?
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: But she's so good?
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Yeah she knows that.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: But but but but why you're saying because she's a billionaire. Yeah,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: but isn't it for the art?
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: But she has she has not. I mean, if she
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: puts something out, she could lose a lot. What if
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: it sucks?
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: That's so true. It's almost like when the when enough
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: time or your Ariana Grande and you just put out
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: on an album every four to five months, and no one.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Can keep tru got to put out. It takes the pressure.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Off, that's true. When was her last album? It's oh,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: it's been twenty eighteen or something sixteen. Yeah, it's been
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: eight years. Uh. Yeah.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: The pressure is so great on her now that it would.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Have to do only you putting it on. Yes, I'm
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: calling her days. I know what's gonna be your best announcement? Hey, yeah, Okay,
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: this is how we play gift ester. I'm gonna name
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: three celebrities and I'm going to name three gifts. Okay,
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: you're going to tell me which gift you would give
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: which celebrity and why. I love that some make perfect sense.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: Yes, okay, these are the celebrities we'll be playing with today.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Number one is Lorraine Brocco. Who is that She plays
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: Tony's therapist in The Sopranos. Okay, I know exactly The Sopranos.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: Of course, she plays doctor Jennifer Melfie. Okay, and she
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: does a bunch of other stuff. Number two is Killian Murphy. Great,
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: we all know Killian the Cheekbones for years, Yes, gorgeous,
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: And number three is Joe Jonas. Okay, I can picture
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: just a general Jonas. I don't know, Lorrain and Joe, Lorraine,
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Killian and Joe, and you'll be giving these gifts away.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: Number one is let's see a miniature fridge?
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: Okay? Nice?
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: Number two is a guest verse on the new single
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: of a problematic wrapper, sure, tricky territory. And number three
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: is the inability to trust.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: Okay, okay, I know what I'm gonna do.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna give the mini fridge to Killian because Lord knows,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: Killian's hydrating those cheekbones. That job is that cheekbones. I
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: just think everyone always says drink water, and no one does.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: They would sooner spend six thousand dollars at Sephora than
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: drink a bottle of water. Am I right?
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: I'm a raisin. This is the most water I've.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: Drank in a day in months and months, and yet
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: I'm still having heat flashes.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: You can kind of see him drinking from a straw.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: Too, totally definitely drinking from a.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: Sing off those cheekbones, and definitely heavy on spraying. Oh
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: and you know what, also, gorgeous person, gorgeous skincare They
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: say you should refrigerate your skincare so it doesn't go bad.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Oh I didn't know this some of it at least.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: So we're giving Killian the fridge, keep all the things
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: keeping killing looking aside, He's.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: Had all kinds of beautiful products in there.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I think the problematic verse to Lorraine, because what a
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: fun wild card. And you know, I think because so beloved,
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: it would be.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Fine, right, And she, like, at least fictionally, has a
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: history of dealing with problematic characters. Sure, you know she
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: really let Tony get things.
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh my gosh.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: What is it with shows about therapists with no boundaries shrinking?
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: I'm like, that's not right.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: I want a real boring therapist.
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: Client with you.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: No, that's on healthy you beat up someone in front
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: of your clients. No, it's unhealthy, and yet makes good
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: for good entertainment.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: And we all knew she was falling for Tony. How
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: could you not fall for Tony?
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: How could you know Tony? Okay, this is a fun fact.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: I was a child actor and I was driving to
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: a Law and Order audition, and I was at a
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: stoplight in New York City and I waved through the
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: window because I saw James Gandelfie and he rolled down
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: the window and he was like, how's your day And
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: I was like, I'm going to an audition and he goes,
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: You're gonna do great, so sweet, and then we rolled
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: up our windows and went about our lives.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: I've never heard a bad thing about him.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: Oh, No, one tells the salt of the earth sweet.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: And I was like eleven, and it just really meant
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: a lot a person, Okay. And then the inability to
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: trust Joe Jonas because Joe Jonas, Oh, because Nick Jonas
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: has the jealous song. Oh, and Joe Jonas feels left
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: out Joe Jonas jealous. No, I don't have brotherhood for
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: a second.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: No way they would let each other's.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: In fact, I think that they it was like a
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Korean pop group.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: They're not real siblings. They were just put.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Together they found very early on looking or they cloned
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: one of them.
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: They all look so alike.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: They really they're also teeny tiny.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I can't really, I would never be
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: able to separate them from each other. They kind of
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: just blurred together.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: And that's why I'm saying, let's let one of them
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: is not trusting, let's you know, let's link them even, right,
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: You're so a meshed? Is it n meshed? Yeah?
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: I think it's a meshed.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: Okay, well, because I said mshed, oh a meshed and
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: meshed and they're so n meshed.
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: I don't know if you're supposed to hit the end
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: so hard they're so n meshed?
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Yeah? Does that?
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: But that those are my answers.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: I think that's played. I think that's absolutely perfectly played.
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: Do I get eliminated if I answered them wrong?
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: No?
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: This is more of a beautiful thought exercise. I wish
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: you're kind of a good person for this actual Oh god,
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: you're kind of the ideal candidate to give Killy and
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: Murphia miniature fridge.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: Oh there is love and little mini Smeg fridge.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, those are so classy looking.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Is that Smeg or smag?
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: Now that's Smeg?
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Thank you all right? En meshed Smeg Shmeg fridge. I
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: think this is different.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: I got a Smeg fridge.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Sorry, Okay, you played it perfectly, And now it's time
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: for the final segment of the podcast. I said no
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: emails people right into I said no gifts at gmail
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: dot com and beg for answers. Okay, sure, my listener,
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: their lives are tatters, tatters and ruins, and it's embarrassing
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: for me as a host, but I uh, just you
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: take what you can get it. And so they're write
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: and begging. And I'll also tell the listener right now,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: if you want to send in suggestions for the gift
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: or a cursor Gift Master game, the email is always
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: the easiest.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: People. You've been begged so hard. I'm sure that you're
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: dying to send a question, and is your life in tatters,
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: then jump on.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: They're all losers.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: So if you want to join the bandwagon, do some
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: free work. Honestly, that does get through to me begging.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm about to send it. I'm an hold
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: on no listener.
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: You can of course send them through Instagram, but you
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: know I have to get into the doc. I'm taking screenshots.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: My life is becoming control. I've got enough on my plate.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Gem.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: We're only for sliding in.
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: If you want to hit on me, if you want
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: to comment on my body or say something disgusting, get into.
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: Answer for formal sad questions.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: Okay, we're gonna answer a question. Sure, great, This is
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Hello Bridger and mystery guest. That's a nice thing to
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: call you.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Although this question you were born mystery guest. Yeah, first name.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: Although this question may seem trivial and is definitely giving
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: first world problems, I have to ask. I am the
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: middle sibling on both sides of my family, so I
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: acknowledge my middle child personality. I'm a middle child as well,
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: so in the same boat here, I know that I
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: have a tendency to feel slighted and less important than
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: my older and younger siblings. I own that, especially when
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: it comes to my older sister. Okay, here we go.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: She is a mar Marha Marsha Yeah, signed Jan Brady.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: I was like, oh my god.
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: Really she is a very successful person with a magazine
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: worthy family. Her social Oh, I'm seeing a typo here
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: or social medial presence.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: She close the laptop. You can't proofread it.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: You don't care about writing into this podcast.
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: Fizzles because it's eight years old.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: Oh, this looks like a newer one. This is brand new.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Spoken her social media I'm editing as we go. Media
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: presence is filled with beautiful photos and witty, slash sincere,
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: slash well written captions.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: Since we are family and our children are of similar ages.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: We attend the same family gatherings and have camera albums
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: full of the same photos. However, lately it seems like
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: there is an unspoken race to post our pictures. She
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: will often demand I sent her any pictures I have taken,
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: and then and then kraft her Instagram posts with something
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: hilarious and cute with pictures I have taken. In contrast,
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: I also have cute sea photos, but I am not timely,
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: I am not as active as she is, and have
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: given up trying due to feeling like mine are a
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: poor man's second hand picture post.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Poor man's secondhand picture post. That's a verse poor man's
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: secondhand picture posts. Let's send that to tish.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: It Also, it also looks like I have stolen her pictures,
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: when in reality she has taken mine.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: So wild simply this is giving jonas.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: This is definite inability to trust. Yes, how do I
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: tell her I am not interested in this photo album
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: race and caption contest? And then I don't want her
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: to constantly steal my pictures.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: I sibling, you're giving them to her. I don't take them.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: This is great, but I get it. Sib shit is
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: no joke. Sibling stuff is real.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: I know it seems like a silly thing to be aggravated. Well, okay,
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: I'm gonna read this verbatim. I know it seems like
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: a thing be aggravated about. So we're missing and make
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: an edit. Put that in there, do a little extra.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: Send it back to them with like the red red
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: marks underlines, like it's like you're an editor for the
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: New York Times. Thank you for your submission.
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: Thank you for your submission. Here's where you went wrong.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: You missed one word. Okay, I know it seems like
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: a silly thing to be aggravated about, but it's just
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: another notch in the belt for all the of the
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: other things she seems to do better than me. Please
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: help Debbie.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: Okay, Debbie, Well you've been laughed out of the podcast.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: I think Debbie's got a delete Instagram. All meant to
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: be on my friend got off, and you know, she's like,
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: I'm not meant for this, I'm not meant for Everyone's like,
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: She's like, it feels like a never ending rivalry between
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: me and the rest of the Internet. Right, I gotta
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: go live my life without feeling like I have to
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: capture it. I really relate in terms of like, I'll
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: go on trips, I'll see friends, I'll go do something epic,
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: and I forget to take a picture because Sean for
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: a bit, I'm present. But it is I get it.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: I feel like there's inherent pressure.
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: Every therapist is the first I'm sure at first meeting
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: they're telling people compare and despair. Yeah, get off of
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: the but we're all trapped, right, especially if you rely
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: on it professionally, right, gun to your head twenty four
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: hours a day.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Right, that's how they got to sign the petition. But
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: I also think maybe their sister's better. Skidding, totally kidding, No.
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: I think Debbie, I think you need to Okay, first
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: of all, stop sending the pictures or put it. Let's
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: be honest, let's put.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: A water mark. Yeah, let's do Uh.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: Who is that? What's the company?
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: That's usually a watermark on the pictures. Getty, we get.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: And make it a hundred dollars to have to buy, yes,
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: and then sue her. Sue this woman, children come.
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: Take the firstborn style.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: Yeah. So that's one option. Okay, another option is there.
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: You're clearly setting a little trap for her, which is
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: send her the photo letter post first comment is I
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: took this.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: And then say pin this, pin this, keep writing pin
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: this until they pin it. Report and if they don't
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: do in forty eight hours, report the picture for inappropriate content,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: and then you could you have the evidence, you can
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: send it to Instagram. Look, I took it first, and
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: to me, that feels healthy and balanced.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: Instagram will take you seriously. They take all of these.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: Any report they take seriously, of course.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: And meanwhile, whatever her name is, Heather is now her
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: life is falling apart, and she's working even harder to
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: keep up appearances.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: She's begging you for more photos. Suddenly you're charging her.
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: You've started a little business of your own.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: Idea, Debbie, make your main photo verified check so that
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: you look verified, and then talk about clout. I bet
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: he doesn't have that. Heather doesn't have a check mark.
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: Heather isn't gonna know head from tails.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: That's she is gonna be destroyed.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: No, Debbie, I think your problem is absolutely valid.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Your sister wants you dead, and you have sister's gonna
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: send an email in next week, next time.
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: No, Debbie's gonna write under the name Heather, that's what's next,
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: and she's gonna try to make Heather look like she
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: has even more typos, right, and try to embarrass her. Right,
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: Debbie has already unfortunately already kind of exposed herself in
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: the biggest possible.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: It was very exposing. Yes, but you know what, I love, Debbie,
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: and I get it. I get it. When I, my
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: sister and I were kids, the running you know you
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: that thing you would do to just go, I would say,
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: we would say to each other, you think you're so cool,
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: but you look so dumb. And to these days, to
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: this day, those words haunt me, of course.
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: Waking. Yeah, Debbie, you are in a bad situation, and
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: we feel for you. Emancipate yourself from your sister who
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: lives in another house, emancipate her children from her. Just
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: do anything you can to kind of rougher up.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: Debbie. Have you seen the film Sliver? I think that's
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: what you need to start there and just follow whatever
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: you see in Slipper.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: That's right, Well, we answered the question perfectly, Debbie. Don't
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: write back in unless your Heather.
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: Debbie, don't write back.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: In looking forward to Heather's email.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Do people ever write back to your response?
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: On occasion? And I block report block of immediately change emails.
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: No, you're like Chapel, No, don't interact.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: Chapel took that from me.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: Chapel wrote into me, and my response she goes, wait,
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: you can do that. It's onto something here. We're gonna
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: block everybody, chap will reach out. Well, I'm so happy
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: to have these life changing serums and this beard which
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: trying to become a cape.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: There's so many things you can do with it.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: I mean, my chest is covered in sweat.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: Now you look like like the superhero of comfort, flying
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: through the class the tooth Fairy, and you just like
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: make people's threat count higher.
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: I'm cutting off the tooth Fairy and traffic right.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: You upgrade their temper pedis.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I've had such a wonderful time with you.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: To thank you for being here, even despite a dog emergency.
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course, fuck that guy. I love my dog.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: Uh, listener, the podcast is over. I've got to you know,
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: cool down, refresh my sad.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: No, I gotta change my shirt. Yeah, we've all got
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: We're all gonna change right here in front.
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: Of the cold swamper.
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: Right now, there's a better use. Send this episode to
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: your father when.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: You will I need to hear it.
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: Yeah, listener, the episodes over, move on, I love you, goodbye.
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: I said, No Gifts is an exactly right production. Our
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: senior producer is on Alisa Nelson, and our episodes are
