- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'm back normally.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Joe with normal takes the wed Day.
- 0:09Speaker 1: It's weird.
- 0:10Speaker 3: I'm married out in ham. I'm Carol Markowitz. How are you,
- 0:13Speaker 3: Mary Catherine?
- 0:14Speaker 1: Happy New Year, Happy New Year.
- 0:16Speaker 4: I'm making it, man, We got it. We got through
- 0:19Speaker 4: the holidays. I flew down to the Sugar Bowl to
- 0:22Speaker 4: watch the dogs lose.
- 0:25Speaker 1: But everybody was very nice.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Even as I walked back on Bourbon Street among the
- 0:31Speaker 4: revelers who.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Were all Ole Miss fans.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Everything went fine, aside from the actual result of the game.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Any New Year's resolutions.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Not in particular, just to kind of get myself back
- 0:44Speaker 4: in order.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I made it to the gym today. What about you.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean other than like, you know, see the
- 0:48Speaker 2: inside of a gym at some time, some point, I'm
- 0:51Speaker 2: going to focus more on developing friendships this year. I've
- 0:55Speaker 2: been in Florida four years, and like, I know a
- 0:58Speaker 2: lot of people here, and I'm always and I have
- 1:00Speaker 2: stuff to do. But like I have to just like
- 1:03Speaker 2: start making plans with my kids friends, you know, mom,
- 1:07Speaker 2: Like I have to. I have to just do better
- 1:09Speaker 2: at stuff like that. So that's that's the one for
- 1:10Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. Right, Yeah, and.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Also four years in Florida.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I told the Internet that it was January second. It
- 1:19Speaker 2: turns out it was January third. So in general I
- 1:21Speaker 2: just need to get more organized. But yeah, four years Floridian.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Very happy about that and couldn't be glad, you know,
- 1:27Speaker 2: couldn't be better than when mum Donnie became mayor of
- 1:30Speaker 2: New York to be like I live in Florida.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Actually that four years happened fast. Well.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Another person had some New Year's resolutions that he executed
- 1:40Speaker 4: on on January third, that Donald Do you know that
- 1:44Speaker 4: President Donald Trump engaging in his foreign policy doctrine, which
- 1:50Speaker 4: is sort of you can just do things you could
- 1:52Speaker 4: just do you can just do things, you do things.
- 1:54Speaker 4: He did those things in Venezuela on January third, and
- 1:58Speaker 4: the dark of night with one hundred and fifty aircraft
- 2:01Speaker 4: executing a precision apprehension illegitimate President Nicholas Maduro YEP from
- 2:08Speaker 4: Caracas along with his wife, who have both been indicted
- 2:11Speaker 4: in New York for several years now, carried them out
- 2:14Speaker 4: of the country. No casualties to American troops, although there
- 2:18Speaker 4: were some injuries I think which are minor. Everybody high
- 2:21Speaker 4: tailed it out of there and TBD on Venezuela.
- 2:24Speaker 1: But Maduro is in a cell in New York right now.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Unbelievable, right.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I mean, look, you know it's funny because if you
- 2:32Speaker 2: had asked me on January twod should the US go
- 2:35Speaker 2: in and depose Maduro? I would have been like, no,
- 2:38Speaker 2: death not. But now that we've done it successfully, I'm like,
- 2:41Speaker 2: that's good. My concern would have been losing American lives.
- 2:45Speaker 2: It wouldn't have been international law, it wouldn't have been
- 2:48Speaker 2: you know, anything else other than would an American die
- 2:52Speaker 2: in this operation? I would not have wanted that no
- 2:55Speaker 2: American died. So I can look back at it and
- 2:58Speaker 2: be like, that was excellent. This is why you don't
- 3:00Speaker 2: lack people like me, President, because I would be like,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know if we should do this.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Well, so I'm with you. I like a little I
- 3:08Speaker 1: don't know. But let me let me.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Say this part first, watching General Raisin Kane explain this
- 3:14Speaker 4: operation after it is already done and everyone's back, yep.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I think it's been dominant to note it took a
- 3:21Speaker 4: shorter amount of time to apprehend him than the last
- 3:24Speaker 4: episode of Stranger Things, so they were, They were in
- 3:27Speaker 4: and out of there between that and the Aaran strike,
- 3:31Speaker 4: which again we were. You know, I would have been like,
- 3:34Speaker 4: maybe a little squeamish about how is this gonna go?
- 3:36Speaker 4: Watching our military so insanely competent and its leaders be
- 3:43Speaker 4: insanely competent is something I have been starved for, man, yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 4: maybe ten years, just to watch an instanation do what
- 3:50Speaker 4: it's supposed to do. So Delta Force is down there
- 3:53Speaker 4: taking care of business, and that part in and of
- 3:56Speaker 4: itself is gratifying. And I think perhaps some in the
- 4:01Speaker 4: media and liberals in general underestimate. Yes, people don't care
- 4:05Speaker 4: about foreign policy that much, but the demonstration of American
- 4:09Speaker 4: competence and power they do care about, and that part
- 4:13Speaker 4: made me go, whoo, my goodness. I also want to
- 4:18Speaker 4: note one of my favorite tweets because the meaning of
- 4:20Speaker 4: this news event.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Oh my god, so good, almost like nothing I've ever seen.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Someone said today of Venezuela and named Delta Force, Donald
- 4:29Speaker 4: Trump Vasquez will be born. So so good that part,
- 4:34Speaker 4: that part just is inspiring to me. And I think
- 4:38Speaker 4: my concern is what happens next, and American lives obviously
- 4:43Speaker 4: was my first concern.
- 4:44Speaker 1: What happens next.
- 4:45Speaker 4: However, I do think Secretary of State Marco Rubio has
- 4:49Speaker 4: been thinking about this problem since the year nineteen ninety.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Nine took over.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, so since his twenties, he's been like, what would
- 4:59Speaker 4: we do right if we had this chance?
- 5:01Speaker 1: And so that makes me feel better about it.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I mean, speaking of competence, like, does anybody appear more
- 5:06Speaker 2: competent than Secretary of State Marco Rubio?
- 5:09Speaker 3: I just think he is on buyer.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Really, the memes about him taking on more jobs, like oh,
- 5:15Speaker 2: now he's going to have to be coach of the
- 5:17Speaker 2: Miami Dolphins, and now he's going to have to run Venezuela,
- 5:20Speaker 2: Like I would trust him to do all of that,
- 5:22Speaker 2: and he's just fantastic. It's so funny how starved we
- 5:27Speaker 2: were for this kind of competency. Look, the joke is
- 5:31Speaker 2: that we wanted a grown up in the room. Is
- 5:34Speaker 2: it surprising that that grown up is Donald Trump?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yes, but he is.
- 5:40Speaker 2: He's the grown up in the room who is like
- 5:42Speaker 2: taking care of business, blocking out the crazy voices around him,
- 5:48Speaker 2: and there are crazy voices around him, and just going
- 5:51Speaker 2: for it, making America great again on the world stage.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I'm so impressed. I am just I don't know.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Everybody who's listened to me and has watched me and
- 6:01Speaker 2: read me for years knows that I wasn't like Donald
- 6:05Speaker 2: Trump is the guy who's going to get things done,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and yet here he is just exceeding all expectations on
- 6:12Speaker 2: every level.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Well, I think what he's engaged in doing, which I
- 6:15Speaker 4: really appreciate, even when I'm nervous about whatever eventuality is
- 6:19Speaker 4: coming next. What I appreciate that he's doing is he
- 6:22Speaker 4: is re establishing deterrence, and it's a place where I
- 6:25Speaker 4: can have more leeway for him, because having lost deterrence
- 6:30Speaker 4: in such dramatic ways after the Knistan pull out and
- 6:33Speaker 4: all of that, and no one responsibility and no one
- 6:36Speaker 4: being punished for it, re establishing deterrence requires very muscular
- 6:43Speaker 4: actions because people will not believe you once you've lost
- 6:47Speaker 4: that right. I think people are believing him, and one
- 6:51Speaker 4: of the folks who must believe him now, as I
- 6:54Speaker 4: believe there was a Chinese delegation on the ground, and
- 6:56Speaker 4: that was just within several days of this event, and
- 7:02Speaker 4: so I think that sends a message as well to
- 7:04Speaker 4: China and to people in another hemisphere. But I'm open
- 7:08Speaker 4: to the idea that this is our hemisphere. We're taking
- 7:10Speaker 4: care of business. Thissus Maduro is from the beginning illegitimate. Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 4: Taves was illegitimate. He just takes over and starts nationalizing businesses.
- 7:20Speaker 4: They of course took Venezuela, which is an incredibly resource
- 7:23Speaker 4: rich place, down to just grating, awful, rationed poverty.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I've been there years.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I've been there as a child. It was, I mean,
- 7:34Speaker 2: beautiful and amazing. It was a very hot spot for
- 7:38Speaker 2: I don't know, there was a time period where Russian
- 7:41Speaker 2: immigrants were really into going to Venezuela's I'd been there
- 7:43Speaker 2: more than once. It was gorgeous and somewhere that, you know.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I hope tourism comes back. I hope they come back.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I hope the whole place recovers. The glee from Venezuelans
- 7:54Speaker 2: is just so beautiful to watch. I've loved every minute.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I think we have some clips we're going to play.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Because it's not just the glee from them, it
- 8:02Speaker 4: is also, to my mind, one of the most thorough
- 8:07Speaker 4: social media punishments for libs that I have seen, because
- 8:11Speaker 4: Venezuelans keep taking to social media to say, guys, you're
- 8:15Speaker 4: getting this wrong, right, let me explain why. So we
- 8:18Speaker 4: do have a couple clips of a couple of Venezuelans
- 8:21Speaker 4: explaining to the libs why this matters and why they're happy.
- 8:24Speaker 5: This is a video for all those liberals and leftists,
- 8:28Speaker 5: mostly American that I've seen in the media complaining about
- 8:32Speaker 5: what's going on in Venezuela, complaining about this military attacks
- 8:37Speaker 5: against military buildings, against government buildings that we're attacked today
- 8:46Speaker 5: in the early morning. What the fuck is wrong with you?
- 8:50Speaker 5: We have had twenty seven years of dictatorship in our
- 8:56Speaker 5: country that has censored us, that has talk to us,
- 9:01Speaker 5: that has killed us, and that made us go away
- 9:05Speaker 5: from our country like they made us run away from
- 9:09Speaker 5: our own homeland. Do you ever imagine that you will
- 9:14Speaker 5: have to do that? Like you do you even put
- 9:17Speaker 5: yourself in the situation of what does that mean?
- 9:23Speaker 4: All right? And then we have another one. This is
- 9:25Speaker 4: the nature of many of them. My feet is just
- 9:28Speaker 4: full of them. And it's a delight because this is
- 9:30Speaker 4: the information they know.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Are you an American or other First world or with
- 9:34Speaker 6: democracy privilege, who's all of a sudden, very very concern
- 9:39Speaker 6: about the United States taking the oil of Venezuela. Well,
- 9:43Speaker 6: let me tell you something, fear not, because Iran and
- 9:47Speaker 6: Cuba have been receiving free Venezuelan oil for decades in
- 9:53Speaker 6: exchange of protecting the dictator that has been exiling, killing us,
- 9:57Speaker 6: and disappearing us for twenty six years. So please, you
- 10:01Speaker 6: should be more concerned about the dictator that is killing us,
- 10:05Speaker 6: exiling us, and disappearing us than the United States taking
- 10:09Speaker 6: our oil. We are not concerned about that, So why
- 10:12Speaker 6: are you concerned about that? Be concerned about the imperial
- 10:16Speaker 6: powers of Iran and Russia, who are already in Venezuela.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I saw another influencer say, yeah, you know, the United
- 10:25Speaker 2: States is there for oil? What do you think Russia
- 10:27Speaker 2: and Iran are there for their rapa recipes?
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yes, there has been a lot of quality commentary mm
- 10:33Speaker 4: hmm on this, and yes, what do you think those
- 10:36Speaker 4: forces were there for? They were there to coalesce close
- 10:39Speaker 4: to America, to put to give a foothold to.
- 10:42Speaker 1: All of our worst enemies in that area.
- 10:45Speaker 4: By the way, Venezuela, of course has a close relationship
- 10:48Speaker 4: with Russia. Russia put out a very strongly worded statement
- 10:52Speaker 4: about this, so apparently that ally ship was not quite
- 10:57Speaker 4: as ally as they had hoped.
- 10:59Speaker 1: When it came down to it. Yeah, l was whisked
- 11:02Speaker 1: out of the country.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so the legal part of it, Law Professor Glenn Reynolds,
- 11:08Speaker 2: he's instapundon. He's one of the people I turned to
- 11:10Speaker 2: to break down stuff like this, he writes, brought to
- 11:13Speaker 2: the United States and put on trial Noriega. He's talking
- 11:16Speaker 2: about Manuel Noriega, and that's kind of the precedent for this.
- 11:20Speaker 2: And his lawyers made the same arguments that Maduro supporters
- 11:23Speaker 2: on the left are making now, violations of the UN Charter,
- 11:26Speaker 2: illegal rendition, head of state, community, et cetera. None of
- 11:30Speaker 2: these convince the courts, and for reasons that are likely
- 11:32Speaker 2: to obtain here. Of course, one wild card may be
- 11:36Speaker 2: the Trump rule, which is that anything Trump does is
- 11:38Speaker 2: judicially suspect. Basically, all the best people know Trump is
- 11:43Speaker 2: no good. That's stupid, but it would be wrong to
- 11:45Speaker 2: entirely discount its power.
- 11:47Speaker 3: So that's really where we are.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Whether the courts will find that this was an illegal
- 11:54Speaker 2: action because Donald Trump was involved. But the Southern District
- 11:58Speaker 2: of New York apparently he is taking this quite seriously,
- 12:02Speaker 2: and they're prosecuting them there.
- 12:05Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 12:06Speaker 2: But you know, he was indicted five years ago. The
- 12:09Speaker 2: Biden administration happened during that time. They could have, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 2: done something with that indictment and they didn't.
- 12:14Speaker 3: So here we are, he's in the US.
- 12:17Speaker 2: It's just the whole operation, the fact that they were
- 12:20Speaker 2: able to do this and bring him to the US,
- 12:23Speaker 2: and it's really just a miraculous thing to watch. Well.
- 12:26Speaker 4: And we should note also that Democrats before now were
- 12:31Speaker 4: very in favor of ending the Maduro illegitimate yep illegitimate
- 12:38Speaker 4: presidency of Venezuela. He ran against someone in twenty twenty four,
- 12:44Speaker 4: not the woman who won the Nobel Prize but she
- 12:48Speaker 4: was barred from running, but the guy who ran it
- 12:52Speaker 4: against him in twenty twenty four one, with like sixty
- 12:54Speaker 4: seven percent of the vote. It was very clear, and
- 12:57Speaker 4: he of course just overrode Thatto. The woman who was
- 13:02Speaker 4: leader of the opposition has since left the country, like
- 13:04Speaker 4: Democrats at the time, because it happened on their.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Why right, we're like, this is reprehensible.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Biden put a twenty five million dollar bounty on his
- 13:15Speaker 4: on what would lead to his arrest, and it's amazing
- 13:18Speaker 4: to me how loudly. Democrats say, no, we just say
- 13:22Speaker 4: stuff we don't mean all.
- 13:25Speaker 1: The time, and they're proud of it. They're like, no, no, no, no,
- 13:27Speaker 1: we did.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Yeah, we put a twenty five million dollar bounty on it,
- 13:30Speaker 4: but like we didn't mean that.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't mean go get him. We just meant like,
- 13:34Speaker 3: hope he comes to us.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Right, like what? And they think they think that's a
- 13:38Speaker 1: point in their favor.
- 13:39Speaker 4: I mean, Kamala's statement about it was very much just
- 13:42Speaker 4: like this is absolutely outrageous that this would ever happen.
- 13:46Speaker 4: It's like, but your own administration put it a million
- 13:48Speaker 4: dollar bounty on it, What did you think.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Was gonna happen? Like it would be really funny.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Actually, if Trump collects that bounty and puts it towards
- 13:54Speaker 2: the ballroom.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I believe.
- 13:56Speaker 4: I believe Rubio has already argued that we saved fifty
- 13:59Speaker 4: million by doing this, which is the argument I make
- 14:02Speaker 4: when I'm when I buy on sale things at Target.
- 14:04Speaker 4: So like I I mean, for sure understood, my dude understood.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I'll also note that Donald Trump was seen shopping for
- 14:13Speaker 2: marble in Lakeworth, Florida, near where he lives in Palm
- 14:18Speaker 2: Beach like looking at tile and marble slabs.
- 14:21Speaker 3: The day this happened.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yes, it was like yes, h.
- 14:25Speaker 4: He also arrived at his mar A Lago New Year's
- 14:31Speaker 4: Eve party and was asked, you know what his New
- 14:34Speaker 4: Year's Eve resolution was, and it was for world peace,
- 14:37Speaker 4: which I enjoyed very much. Of course, knowing that this
- 14:39Speaker 4: is going to happen. Also, can I briefly say Milania
- 14:45Speaker 4: what a god is? Sometimes you just have to say
- 14:48Speaker 4: like right, wow, wow, Okay, So that's just a brief aside.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, Milania needs a moment.
- 14:57Speaker 4: As it stands now, Jim Garretty writes about out who's
- 15:00Speaker 4: in charge in Venezuela at this point? Now Donald Trump
- 15:02Speaker 4: has said we're in charge, but we're not sure exactly
- 15:04Speaker 4: what that means.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Meet the new boss, the vice president of the old boss.
- 15:09Speaker 4: In the early morning hours of Saturday, in the US
- 15:11Speaker 4: military executed one of the most stunningly proficient operations in
- 15:14Speaker 4: its history, grabbing Nicholas Maduro. But apparently the Trump administration's
- 15:18Speaker 4: plan is to leave Maduro's vice president, Delcy Rodriguez, in
- 15:21Speaker 4: charge as head of the Venezuela state and to hope
- 15:24Speaker 4: that the threat of additional military action keeps her in line.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Right now, I think from what I can gather from
- 15:30Speaker 4: Rubio on the Sunday shows scolding all of the anchors,
- 15:35Speaker 4: it seems like they envisioned something possibly with the official
- 15:41Speaker 4: opposition led by Matado, who Trump was not very complimentary
- 15:45Speaker 4: of at this At this presser she dedicated his Nobel
- 15:49Speaker 4: Price today. From what I gather, their sense was that
- 15:54Speaker 4: they weren't prepared to handle the military to have enough
- 16:01Speaker 4: to be seen as legitimate. So in the meantime, what
- 16:04Speaker 4: they've decided to do, and I'm just layman's terms in basically,
- 16:07Speaker 4: put a blockade on oil, strangle this leadership and say
- 16:12Speaker 4: here's what you have to do. We're going to tell
- 16:14Speaker 4: you what to do, and then we will have elections,
- 16:16Speaker 4: and I believe the Chevistas can be involved in those elections,
- 16:19Speaker 4: and then presumably the opposition would be elected.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Right right, they could be involved in the elections, but
- 16:25Speaker 2: nobody's electing them.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Everyone wants to eat, so.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Yes, yes, they'd like to eat something other than zoo animals,
- 16:31Speaker 4: which is a thing that happened in Venezuela at one
- 16:34Speaker 4: point because people needed food.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Well, we're going to take a short break and come
- 16:37Speaker 2: back with even more news that happened in the last
- 16:41Speaker 2: few days.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Be right back with more on normally.
- 16:47Speaker 2: We are back on normally where Also while we were off,
- 16:51Speaker 2: a nine billion fraud scandal was uncovered in Minnesota. Nick Shirley,
- 16:58Speaker 2: he's a YouTuber, taped him self visiting multiple child care
- 17:01Speaker 2: facilities that were receiving large amounts of taxpayer dollars but
- 17:06Speaker 2: were largely empty. How did the liberal media react to this?
- 17:11Speaker 2: Did they say, Wow, this is a really great find,
- 17:14Speaker 2: Nick Shirley.
- 17:15Speaker 3: They did not. You might be sure to find out
- 17:18Speaker 3: Mary Catherine.
- 17:19Speaker 2: But the big news today is that Minnesota Governor Tim
- 17:23Speaker 2: Walls is not running for reelection. You have to imagine
- 17:28Speaker 2: because of all of this.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so funny, because I was told that the
- 17:32Speaker 4: fraud was either non existent or small or probably pretty
- 17:37Speaker 4: good and also made up by Republicans and also made
- 17:40Speaker 4: up by Nick Shirley, even though there were investigations and
- 17:43Speaker 4: indictments and local coverage of this in the past. Right,
- 17:46Speaker 4: But for some reason, all this fakeness also precipitates the
- 17:51Speaker 4: dropping out of the race of the current governor of
- 17:54Speaker 4: the state of Minnesota, who has now gone from VEEP candidate.
- 17:57Speaker 1: YEP told nothing within a year and a half.
- 18:03Speaker 2: That is such a good point, you know, about how
- 18:06Speaker 2: if it's all fake, then why is he resigning or
- 18:09Speaker 2: why is he not running for reelection?
- 18:11Speaker 4: Well, yeah, well I can give you the answer from
- 18:14Speaker 4: his statement, which is an insane statement. I'm gonna start
- 18:17Speaker 4: from the beginning, just so you see how quickly he
- 18:19Speaker 4: modulates to blaming others. Good morning and happy met New Year.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Like many Minnesota's, I was glad to turn the page
- 18:25Speaker 4: on twenty twenty five. It was an extraordinarily difficult year
- 18:27Speaker 4: for our state, and it ended on a particularly sour note.
- 18:30Speaker 4: For the last several years, an organized group of criminals
- 18:32Speaker 4: has sought to take advantage of our stage generosity, and
- 18:35Speaker 4: even as we make progress in the fight against the frosters,
- 18:38Speaker 4: we now see an organized group of political actors seeking
- 18:42Speaker 4: to take advantage of the crisis. I won't mince words here.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Donald Trump and his allies in Washington, in Saint Paul
- 18:48Speaker 4: and online want to make our state a colder, meaner place.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Well we can't. We can't make it colder, dude, like
- 18:54Speaker 1: you live in Minnesota.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah, but yes, it's a He really kicked over quickly
- 19:01Speaker 4: to blaming someone else. For this fraud that doesn't exist
- 19:03Speaker 4: but kind of exists. But he's a super fraud fighter.
- 19:05Speaker 4: But also he has to drop out.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Of the race. Yeah, Like Snopes looked into this and found.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Nick Shirley's claims to be quote unverified because quote a
- 19:14Speaker 2: spokesperson for the Minnesota Department of Human Services DHS said,
- 19:18Speaker 2: and the statement that it had visited all of the
- 19:20Speaker 2: facilities in Shirley's video at least once in the six
- 19:24Speaker 2: months proceeding December twenty twenty five, as part of the
- 19:27Speaker 2: department's typical license process.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Oh well, I know.
- 19:31Speaker 3: It's like, oh, okay, well, I guess if they visited,
- 19:33Speaker 3: then there's nothing to see here.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they totally visited.
- 19:37Speaker 4: And it's not at all obvious that everyone in this
- 19:40Speaker 4: process is bought off or bought in to this process.
- 19:45Speaker 4: And that's the thing to me, is this, all of
- 19:47Speaker 4: this is so gigantic, The scale is so great that
- 19:50Speaker 4: you didn't not know in Sorry, the whistleblowers have been
- 19:54Speaker 4: very loud, they have their own Twitter account. They have
- 19:56Speaker 4: repeatedly come to state government to say this is how happening.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Mostly been rebuffed, although there have been some There have
- 20:03Speaker 4: been some indictments and there are federal indictments as well.
- 20:06Speaker 1: But then even the New York Times.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Had to admit and it's reporting finally, not in twenty
- 20:10Speaker 4: twenty four, when they could have connected walls to this
- 20:12Speaker 4: and it would have been helpful diver but like a
- 20:15Speaker 4: month ago, they were like, yeah, so a lot of
- 20:18Speaker 4: people were afraid of being called racist because it was
- 20:21Speaker 4: right twenty twenty three. Yeah, and this is like a
- 20:23Speaker 4: marginalized community doing fraud, so they couldn't say anything about it.
- 20:27Speaker 3: It's just such bs.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Because here's the thing, and I said this on the
- 20:31Speaker 2: show before, like I would say that, you know, bad
- 20:35Speaker 2: stuff goes on in every immigrant community and in non
- 20:38Speaker 2: immigrant communities.
- 20:39Speaker 3: But when I see a fraud scandal break in Brooklyn,
- 20:42Speaker 3: my first reaction is like, please don't be you know,
- 20:44Speaker 3: from the former Soviet Union. Please.
- 20:46Speaker 2: And if it is, all of us are like, oh,
- 20:49Speaker 2: you guys are the worst, Like you make us look
- 20:51Speaker 2: so bad, like this is just horrible. Nobody's like, oh,
- 20:56Speaker 2: you're so you know, you're attacking our ethnicity.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Nobody says that.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Nobody at all argues that fighting crime on behalf of
- 21:05Speaker 2: all of us is somehow anti Exoviet, Like come on
- 21:10Speaker 2: and it's so offensive that they're trying this because these
- 21:14Speaker 2: people are Smali.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Like again, any it could happen anywhere, and.
- 21:18Speaker 2: That actually should be the message that it's not limited
- 21:20Speaker 2: to Smali community. You should probably look into other communities
- 21:23Speaker 2: as well, and there's nothing racist about it.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Actually.
- 21:28Speaker 4: One of the things I like about this scandal is
- 21:30Speaker 4: that because the media is so focused on saying not
- 21:33Speaker 4: just Somali Americans, they have admitted things they don't really
- 21:39Speaker 4: admit regularly, which is like all states and all programs
- 21:44Speaker 4: have a bunch of fraud, which is useful to me
- 21:47Speaker 4: as someone who actually cares about the fraud in all
- 21:50Speaker 4: of these programs that you guys have been dismissing for
- 21:54Speaker 4: so long. So it's nice to hear them finally admit
- 21:57Speaker 4: that as a way of defending waltson all of the right.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Right, this happens everywhere, like okay, go fight that.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Okay, great, let's let's get on all of that please,
- 22:06Speaker 1: right right.
- 22:08Speaker 4: And I do they always say in all of these waste,
- 22:11Speaker 4: fraud and abuse issues, they always say so so dropping
- 22:14Speaker 4: the bucket. Okay, First of all, this isn't a dropping
- 22:15Speaker 4: the buck Yeah, billions of dollars. Second of all, every
- 22:20Speaker 4: single dollar that is not stewarded in the way it
- 22:23Speaker 4: should be is taken from an American who could use
- 22:27Speaker 4: it for honest means instead of fraud. And many of
- 22:29Speaker 4: those Americans are suffering right now trying to pay for
- 22:33Speaker 4: wait for it, childcare yep, while it's being given away
- 22:37Speaker 4: to people who are not engaging in childcare.
- 22:39Speaker 2: That's right, and I really hope that Republicans don't let
- 22:43Speaker 2: this go.
- 22:44Speaker 3: This is just it's such a.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Giant scandal, and Republicans are so just very easily distracted.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I will say the Republican Study Committee members, Representatives Radfinstead,
- 22:57Speaker 2: Peter Staber, and Michelle Fishbeck, are demanding answers from Tim
- 23:02Speaker 2: Walls about the fraud. They have given him until today
- 23:05Speaker 2: to commit to full cooperation with federal investigators. We'll see
- 23:10Speaker 2: if anything comes of any of that. I would love
- 23:12Speaker 2: to see Republicans, you know, die on this hill. This
- 23:16Speaker 2: is really important to the American people. I think one
- 23:19Speaker 2: of the other things that people have said in the
- 23:20Speaker 2: last a week or so about the scandal is like
- 23:24Speaker 2: all of these scandals are showing us that there's so
- 23:28Speaker 2: much money where people are just you know that there's
- 23:31Speaker 2: already a universal basic income for so many people in
- 23:35Speaker 2: America and not like we don't even know about it.
- 23:38Speaker 2: It's wrong, it's unfair, it hurts us all. We need
- 23:42Speaker 2: to stop it, and like this is where Republicans can
- 23:44Speaker 2: really shine.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and it increasingly makes a bunch of honest people go,
- 23:49Speaker 4: why am I being?
- 23:50Speaker 3: Why am I working?
- 23:51Speaker 4: Why am I trying to open a childcare center and
- 23:53Speaker 4: getting told by the state that I have to meet
- 23:54Speaker 4: all these regulations when none of these other people have.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Right, Why are we putting on makeup and doing this
- 23:59Speaker 2: podcas so when we could just open a childcare center,
- 24:02Speaker 2: Like that's ridiculous.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I'd be great at a no childcare childcare center, say
- 24:07Speaker 4: fantastic at that for millions of dollars. One last thing,
- 24:11Speaker 4: which is that it looks like Minnesota Senator Amy Klobachar
- 24:14Speaker 4: will get into the race for governor. On the Republican side,
- 24:17Speaker 4: you have Mike Lindell, the my pillow guy who has announced,
- 24:20Speaker 4: and Lisa Damouz, who was the head of the Minnesota
- 24:23Speaker 4: Republicans in the state, who would be the sensible choice
- 24:26Speaker 4: to take on at Amy clobchart And by the way,
- 24:28Speaker 4: one more thing, as I said, no one in power
- 24:31Speaker 4: as a Democrat didn't know what was going on here. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 4: Clobachar is gonna sound all tough like she's, oh.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I'm the one to get to the bottom of this.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And she might even be convincing because she is a
- 24:41Speaker 1: tough lady. But she wasn't being tough on it before.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Now, why not, right, she hoped nobody would find out.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll be right back with one more segment of
- 24:52Speaker 2: normally coming right up.
- 24:56Speaker 4: All right, we're back on normally with a little bit
- 24:58Speaker 4: of now it can be told. It turned out that
- 25:00Speaker 4: in academia and in San Francisco, the Libs are learning
- 25:03Speaker 4: they were wrong and we were right a long time ago.
- 25:06Speaker 4: But you know, I welcome these realizations. The first one
- 25:09Speaker 4: comes from Harvard President Alan Garber, who said in an
- 25:12Speaker 4: interview that the university went wrong by allowing faculty activism
- 25:16Speaker 4: in the classroom, arguing professor's political views have chilled free
- 25:19Speaker 4: speech and debate on campus. Part of the quote is
- 25:23Speaker 4: how many students would actually be willing to go toe
- 25:25Speaker 4: to toe against a professor who's expressed a firm view
- 25:28Speaker 4: about a controversial issue. I think he's obviously right about this,
- 25:31Speaker 4: but it's not just the expressing right. The expressing is
- 25:34Speaker 4: not the problem. It's that you only hired people who
- 25:38Speaker 4: believe one thing, and part of what they believe is
- 25:42Speaker 4: that everyone must believe what they believe. So that doesn't
- 25:45Speaker 4: really allow for a lot of back and forth.
- 25:48Speaker 2: It really doesn't. And look, the kids who are different
- 25:52Speaker 2: from their professors know to cater to them. I wrote
- 25:55Speaker 2: a paper in college that I found a few years
- 25:57Speaker 2: ago about how the family is an outdated got an a,
- 26:01Speaker 2: got an a.
- 26:02Speaker 4: So I found I found a little bit of a
- 26:05Speaker 4: squishy gun control paper when I was back at my parents'
- 26:07Speaker 4: house and.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Was like, whoa.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Somebody, somebody definitely signaled to me that I was not
- 26:11Speaker 4: going to get an error if I didn't say this.
- 26:14Speaker 4: But yes, and I think it requires kids being braver now,
- 26:18Speaker 4: adults in college. But it requires them being braver now
- 26:21Speaker 4: because the punishments are worse than when I was in school.
- 26:23Speaker 4: And even when I was in school, you were ripping
- 26:26Speaker 4: something to stick up for what you believed. So I
- 26:29Speaker 4: appreciate him acknowledging be told, yeah, we'll see what happens. Meanwhile,
- 26:33Speaker 4: in San Francisco, Jonathan Carl of ABC traveled to interview
- 26:38Speaker 4: the San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lourie about the challenges that
- 26:42Speaker 4: San Francisco faces and this is what he's realized.
- 26:45Speaker 1: We have a clip of him.
- 26:46Speaker 7: What went wrong in this city? I mean, San Francisco
- 26:49Speaker 7: had become the symbol of in some ways progressive or
- 26:53Speaker 7: liberal failure.
- 26:54Speaker 2: For what happened here.
- 26:55Speaker 7: We lost our way as a city. We all know
- 26:58Speaker 7: that we had, you know, career politicians that were focused
- 27:03Speaker 7: on what was next for them instead of what was
- 27:05Speaker 7: best for San Franciscans. And what I've tried to do
- 27:09Speaker 7: is focus on getting results for the people of San Francisco.
- 27:13Speaker 2: And what specifically was.
- 27:14Speaker 5: It was it a approach of not enforcing the laws.
- 27:19Speaker 7: I think we got away from the basics of government
- 27:23Speaker 7: now today, if you come to San Francisco to commit
- 27:26Speaker 7: a crime, we're going to catch you and we're going
- 27:29Speaker 7: to prosecute you. If you come to San Francisco to
- 27:32Speaker 7: deal drugs or to do drugs, we're going to prosecute you,
- 27:37Speaker 7: and we're not going to tolerate it for as long
- 27:39Speaker 7: as I'm mayor, and I think we sort of had
- 27:42Speaker 7: a lais a fair attitude. We said, Okay, it's somebody's
- 27:45Speaker 7: right to do drugs. Our progressive value sort of overtook
- 27:50Speaker 7: a common.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Sense, sure did bars on the ground. Man, we will
- 27:54Speaker 4: be prosecuting crimes.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 27:58Speaker 4: And by the way, they at laissez faire, they're only
- 28:02Speaker 4: laissez fair toward criminals.
- 28:03Speaker 1: That's the problem.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Normal people who live in San Francisco have to follow
- 28:07Speaker 4: the rules, and the rules are onerous and terrible and
- 28:11Speaker 4: make you want to leave San Francisco, which is what
- 28:13Speaker 4: a bunch of companies have done.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Michael Malice was in New York the last few
- 28:17Speaker 2: days and he posted to his ex about how everything
- 28:21Speaker 2: in like the local stores and the Dwayne Reads and
- 28:24Speaker 2: the CVS's, is locked up and you have to go
- 28:27Speaker 2: find an employee for everything and how is that a
- 28:30Speaker 2: business model? And of course it's not. And all of
- 28:32Speaker 2: these companies are going to leave these places that make
- 28:35Speaker 2: it so impossible. I was also in Singapore over the break.
- 28:38Speaker 2: It was my second time there, and I get it.
- 28:41Speaker 2: We shouldn't have the death penalty for like spitting on
- 28:43Speaker 2: the ground, Okay, but what if what if we just
- 28:48Speaker 2: enforced the laws that we have with the punishments that
- 28:52Speaker 2: we have for those laws, Like, how would that go?
- 28:56Speaker 1: It's so crazy. It just might work.
- 28:59Speaker 3: But let's see what San Francisco does here, and.
- 29:02Speaker 4: We'll see what happens with Mom Donnie, who's currently weighing
- 29:04Speaker 4: in on the Venezuela raid because we really need him
- 29:07Speaker 4: on that.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yeah, well we'll see.
- 29:10Speaker 2: We didn't even get to talk about Mom Donnie, but
- 29:11Speaker 2: that's okay because there'll be lots of opportunities to.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Talk about Zora, Mom Donnie in the future. Thanks for
