- 0:00Hide sports podcast every local sport across the district. This is Kevin Dailey,
- 0:20the sports for It here on one oh five point nine, bringing you the
- 0:25focus on a high sports show. On this the twenty ninth day of February.
- 0:32Fellas, do you know what that means? Twenty ninth of February.
- 0:36Will stay out the way because it's the day that women can cast a side
- 0:40tradition, go down on one knee and propose to you. If you're a
- 0:48runner, go for a run, a very long run. Mean while on
- 0:58the show this week, I'm afraid we have no guests available. Couldn't track
- 1:02anybody down, but typical I had three for next week and one for the
- 1:06week after, So we have a mixture of sports and a bit more music.
- 1:11We've got reports on football, rugby, hockey, including a special report
- 1:19on the Optimist under fourteen boys team who are now in the semi final of
- 1:23a national Cup. We've got news of the Ashford ten k basketball and wheelchair
- 1:29basketball, plus any other sporty snippets that I can find. So in the
- 1:34meantime, have a little listen. To start in the show, we've got
- 1:38abba does your Mother Know? Followed by local music and Lenny local music there
- 1:57Lenny and ready to fluff. I think he crashed the right time for some
- 2:04football news. Now, Well, it was a wet and miserable Saturday as
- 2:07two of our local clubs had their games postponed. Unfortunately, Concord Rangers from
- 2:12Canvey Island in Essex were at the Folks in Victor ground when the game was
- 2:15called off around two o'clock after the pitch was declared playable at half past ten.
- 2:21Now you have to feel for Concord, but it's not in Victor's fault.
- 2:23They don't call the game off. It's a referee and if it pours
- 2:27down while the away team are traveling, that's the worst scenario. But this
- 2:30season has been one of the wettest I can remember. It's happened so many
- 2:35times to traveling teams. Excuse me, well, I was at the ground
- 2:40around one thirty and what's a referee make two pitch inspections about half an hour
- 2:45apart and was told in good faith that he would have started the game if
- 2:49it was at all possible, especially as Concord had traveled and already five games
- 2:53behind in Victor. Tuesday evening, another home game was scheduled and fortunately this
- 2:59one went ahea. However, he ended in a Neil Neil draw in front
- 3:01of four hundred and eighty two fans. Now, on a side note to
- 3:06this, congratulations must go to the former guests of the show, Aidie Dwks
- 3:10and his colleague Charlie Prescott for transmitting the commentary live from Sheeriton Road in their
- 3:16very first home broadcast under the banner of Seasiders Radio. And this is really
- 3:22becoming popular now speaking to aid and Charlie, people you know that are on
- 3:27holiday or expats, as he said, living in Malta, or even if
- 3:31you're living up north somewhere, you can tune in and listen to the game.
- 3:35And Saturday they will be broadcasting live once again. As in Victor traveled
- 3:38to Chessant for an away fixture on Saturday. Hive Town suffered the same as
- 3:46in Victor, but their game was called off at the early inspection and their
- 3:49opponents, sitting Born, were duly informed, so there was no traveling.
- 3:53Tuesday evening it was another home game scheduled, this time against Little Hampton,
- 3:58which is nearly one hundred miles one way trip, but thanks to the ground
- 4:01staff who worked their socks off. The game was played as we hear the
- 4:05this report from Tom illerby Hive managed to cling onto a narrow lead and take
- 4:11three points at home to Little Hampton Town at Riachfield Stadium on Tuesday night.
- 4:15Due to the weather, this match was the first home game in three weeks
- 4:18for Hive, making the victory even sweeter for the fans. Manager Steve Watt
- 4:23was unable to attend the match and play the responsibility of management in the hands
- 4:26of assistant Alex Fischer, but he made five changes from the seventy two defeats
- 4:30Chathamtown a week ago in the Kent Senior Cup as Jake Embury, Franni Collin,
- 4:34Jack Sevenson, kaigar Rand and Kean Garlinge all returns at starting eleven.
- 4:40The game started in Hyde's favor as in the eighth minute Johann Kney Bryant hit
- 4:44a powerful looping shot past the outstretched palm of the goalkeeper James Binfield into the
- 4:48top corner, giving Higher one nill lead. The first half continued with neither
- 4:53side managing to get on the scoreesheet and Hythe had to make a change as
- 4:56Kean Garlinge went down injured and was helped off the pitch. The rest of
- 5:00the match went on with the visitors dominating and Hide struggling to get the ball
- 5:03out of their own half, but despite the pressure from Little Hampson, they
- 5:06didn't manage to break past the Canons defense. The full time whistle blue to
- 5:11mark and much needed three points for Hythe in their race for the playoffs.
- 5:15The Canons will face a tough challenge on Saturday as they traveled to fifth place
- 5:17side Herne Bay at three pm. I had a big thank you there,
- 5:21Tom. Let's our man pitch side. It's ended in the report We're down
- 5:25to you Tom, well as Tom says, the next fixture is an away
- 5:29game on Saturday against Herne Bay. But they've got an artificial pitch, shows
- 5:32every chance that that will go ahead. But as a bit worrying for Hive
- 5:38because the next four games they're all at home, so let's hope that the
- 5:42old pitch dries out by then. Now. One game that was on was
- 5:46played in Dartford in the Kent County Premier League, and that was Fleet Down
- 5:49United versus Hawkins Town, one that Hawkins might have wished was postponed as they
- 5:55went down for one. This was made even worse as their close rivals Halls
- 5:59AFC beat Stansfield three to one, putting Hauls top of the table two points
- 6:03ahead of the Hawks and still they've still got that game in hand now.
- 6:08This Saturday, Hawkins visit Tentterdon Town who they very recently drew two all with
- 6:13so to maintain the pressure on Hales they need three points. That's the definite.
- 6:17Hauls themselves have a tough fixture though, that's a way to fleet Down
- 6:20United, who must be feeling very confident after last week's victory over the Hawks.
- 6:27Moving on to Garret Wilson's in Victor disability team now and they fought hard
- 6:32for their one nil victory over a quality Welling United death side. Welling struck
- 6:38the crossbar twice in the first after taking advantage of the wind. The game
- 6:44was a neil neil at halftime. In the second half, keeper Wayne Froud
- 6:47had a quiet game as in Victor pushed on. The goal came from an
- 6:51excellent corner delivered by Billy Hayter which found the head of Peter Lee and went
- 6:56flying into the net. In Victor then saw the game out, winning one
- 6:59ne and doing the double over Welling. Man of the match went to Troy
- 7:02Harding, so overall a great all round team performance, so well done to
- 7:06Garret Wilson and the team there. Now I've seen this Welling Deaf team play
- 7:11actually a couple of times now and they are really one of the best teams
- 7:14in the league. Well did you see that Maystone FA Cup game? There
- 7:19was no way Coventry were going to do what Inswich did and underestimate the opposition
- 7:24and they run out five new winners. Despite the loss, the Stones fans
- 7:29had a great evening and we'll be telling FA Cup stories for years to come.
- 7:32The cup runners put the club, the town and the fans on the
- 7:35map and it has proved once again there is nothing like the magic of the
- 7:40FA Cup. Some people say that it's the FA Cup now it's the same
- 7:43old stuff, you know, but it's not. There's there's always a story,
- 7:46isn't there. You know, there's always a team and this year it
- 7:49was Maystone and they make everybody want to watch the game. Well, w
- 7:55will Maystone take it out on the next opponents or will they be a little
- 7:58bit flatch? I think? Well, I looked up the fixture and believe
- 8:01it or not, the next game is the way at Dover and Dover are
- 8:03really struggling at the foot of the table. So this game is either going
- 8:07to go two ways. Over are going to get their first win for ages
- 8:11or Maystone are just going to murder them. Anyway, Maystone United FC,
- 8:16I want to say a big thank you to everybody involved at the club for
- 8:18giving us, all US football supporters in Kent and around the globe, some
- 8:22wonderful football memories. You did yourselves proud. Nineteen eighty four Howard Jones there
- 8:43they late to get to know you well, and do you remember him?
- 8:46But he's like a spiky head, a really bit of a one off,
- 8:50really, I think he used to do stuff on his own, but he
- 8:52made quite an impact, didn't have many hits. But I'm having a bit
- 8:54of fun in the studio here actually because I was looking up something about Howard
- 8:58Jones and then it's got how to get late to get to know you will
- 9:03lyrics. So I've got the lyrics up. I've been singing me had Off
- 9:05here in the studio. That's quite an easy one to sing too. But
- 9:07have you done this at home before? It had come on own up.
- 9:11You've gone on YouTube, clicked on the lyrics of a song, singing along
- 9:15and think, do you know what? I've been singing the wrong words for
- 9:16years? But anyway, I love that track. Howard Jones liked to get
- 9:20to know you well. Okay, bit of hockey news. Now. The
- 9:26Folks and Optimists got back on track and fielded all twelve teams at the weekend.
- 9:31The stats, however, showed that it was not one of their best
- 9:33weeks. They played twelve, they scored goals four was twenty, goals against
- 9:39was thirteen. The amount of games they won was only three, They lost
- 9:45five and they drew four. Now the men's first eleven drew one against gore
- 9:50Court thanks to a late equalizing goal from Jamie Miller hayse Things. The Seconds
- 9:54look to stay at the top of the league in the Kenny Vickser League with
- 9:58a four niel victory over Canon. Garrett Llewellyn scored once and lorc and Doyle
- 10:03got a hat trick. The third to beat Ash for two to one goals
- 10:05coming from Freddy Brown and Kyle Mackett. The fourth team drew one all with
- 10:09New Indond Nomads thanks to a goal from alex Cross. The fifteen loss to
- 10:13four ones and Mardern Russet's. The six team lost six to Ford. That
- 10:18must have been a game ten goals there six to four to Gillingham and Courian's
- 10:22and the seventh team drew three all, also with the Gillingham and Coourian side.
- 10:26Now this was a great result for the seventh team actually because injuries to
- 10:31players caused a bit of a reshuffle at the last minute and the league leaders
- 10:35and Coourians only scored late in a goal to equalize. The Ladies First eleven
- 10:39drew one all with burnt Ash from Bexley Becky Whitt scoring the goal. The
- 10:43Ladies Second's, thirds and fourth team all lost two nil to Canterbury, gord
- 10:48Call and Dartford respectively. But the good old fifteen they go marching on as
- 10:52they beat the burnt Ash side three to one goals coming from Wendy Blackall,
- 10:56Janet Fuller and Emmy Gainsford, despite the game being briefly halted due to a
- 11:01Hailstone blizzard. Now, last last Sunday, it was yeah, I went
- 11:07down to the Three Hills and what's the wonderful game of hockey? And I
- 11:11was caught up with an old friend of mine called Brian Murrell. But we're
- 11:15going to play some music and we're going to do another report on the hockey
- 11:18under fourteens. Well, great punches tracked there from Wax the Bridge to Your
- 11:41Heart. It didn't make many songs, just a couple, but there was
- 11:48a product. So byproduct of TENCC. When TENCC packed up, two of
- 11:52them got together again and put that song out and yeah, I really really
- 11:56enjoyed that one. So I'm playing a bit more music today because we haven't
- 12:01got a guest in and it just kind of gives me a chance to have
- 12:05a look at the playlist and there's a great playlist. I've got to thanks
- 12:07for us for putting all these great songs in and it does make a little
- 12:11bit of difference to me. I mean, when we have guests in,
- 12:13we might have a nearly a twenty minute chat and if you get two of
- 12:18them in an hour. So I get the chance today to play loads more
- 12:20music. But it's time to do a bit of sport now. On Sunday
- 12:26afternoon, I went to the Three Heels to watch the Optimist Under fourteen boys
- 12:30team take on Saffron Walden in the quarter final of the England Hockey Tier two
- 12:35National Cup. Well it's a good job I got there before the game started
- 12:37because Oscar Daily and no relation by the way he put the ball in the
- 12:41back of the saffron Walden net with less than a minute on the clock.
- 12:45The Ops looked much the more confident side, but it took until halftime before
- 12:48Alfie Ball made it too nil. The Ops Boys came out the stronger in
- 12:52the second half, with Oscar getting his second goal and Harry Rowe making it
- 12:56for n Il. Now bearing in mind this game is played with four periods
- 13:01of fifteen minutes each, so if you like three quarter time the opposite switched
- 13:05off a little bit and saffron Walden pulled two goals back. The next came
- 13:09the goal of the match from me. This was scored by will Ball,
- 13:11who calmly rounded the goalkeeper and stuffed it in a net and then went on
- 13:16to score again, making it a final score of six goals to three and
- 13:20a place in the semifinals. So with four teams in the semifinals, if
- 13:24an away fixture is made, the other three teams are as follows. First
- 13:30is Wallingford, which is thirteen miles south of Oxford. That's a one way
- 13:33trip of one hundred and twenty six miles. The second one is Winchester,
- 13:37one way trip of one hundred and thirty miles. Then that's just north of
- 13:41Southampton. But the third one, which they don't really want a tool is
- 13:45Timperlei, which is a suburb of Manchester, and that's a one way trip
- 13:48of nearly two hundred and seventy miles. Now, while I was watching the
- 13:52under fourteens, I was joined by an old friend of mine in every sense
- 13:56of the word, Brian Murrell. And now I don't mean that disrespectfully when
- 14:00I say an old friend, but when I tell you that Brian is still
- 14:03playing for the men's seventh team and that in April he joins and not for
- 14:07the first time the England listened to this the England over eighties national hockey side
- 14:13as they will welcome a Dutch side of a Dutch over eighties side for a
- 14:18match to be staged in Canterbury. Now we chatted at length about his England
- 14:22career and how he's trying to stay injury free whilst enjoying his hockey with the
- 14:26seventh team and it was very interesting to note that he told me that some
- 14:31of the under four teens that we were actually walking watching played for the seventeenth
- 14:35the day before, and there was definitely a few of them that you could
- 14:39tell. And I don't know much about hockey, but you could tell they
- 14:41were much mature hockey wise for their age, after gaining experience by playing against
- 14:46senior opposition. Now, Brian is a very private and modest man who doesn't
- 14:50like a fuss, and he declined the offer of coming on the show,
- 14:54but you've got to take your hat off to him, and he still plays
- 14:56the game he loves at the age of eighty three, not just for his
- 15:01club but for his country. So I'll be keeping an eye on that result
- 15:05in April. Oh. By the way, a coach for the under fourteens
- 15:09is Drian Rowe, and the Shoe texts me to say that the draw had
- 15:13been made for this MS and that the boys are lucky enough to have a
- 15:16home tie against Winchester on the seventeenth of March, so avoiding along away journey.
- 15:22The finals been scheduled for the twenty eighth of April. No venue chosen
- 15:26as yet, they might choose a venue somewhere halfway between where the two teams
- 15:30are, and I will say that my last bit of hockey news is hopefully
- 15:35coach Adrian will be free to come into the studio a couple of days before
- 15:37the semi finals played. So that was a really really exciting morning for me
- 15:43and it was great to cratch up with Brian Murrell. He is such a
- 15:46gentleman, you know, and he deserves all the credit he can for just
- 15:50playing that lovely game. Right time for the music now, and we've got
- 15:54Criss Cross and a song called jump Penny Lane there. I member ors I
- 16:18current track there and you know what, I've been to Penny Lane and it's,
- 16:22to be honest, there's nothing special about it. It's just an ordinary
- 16:25street in Liverpool and it's got the barber shop there where he shaved and of
- 16:29the customer. But it's just it's known all around the world. And if
- 16:34you go on one of the go to Liverpool and go to on one of
- 16:37those magical mystery tours, it will take you to Penny Lane and it takes
- 16:42you to Strawberry Fields and you've got to have your picture done by the sign
- 16:47Penny Lane. Gold knows how many of those signs have gone missing over the
- 16:51years. The first one definitely did. Whoever's got that is sitting on a
- 16:55gold mine. But if you get a chance and you love your sixties music,
- 16:59go to liver, go to the cavern, do the ferry, cross
- 17:03the Mersey, you will have such a wonderful time, I'll tell you.
- 17:06Okay, so times knocking on a little bit, and because I've got no
- 17:08guessing, I've been talking a lot. I'm playing a lot of music.
- 17:11But we've got some cracky music on the playlist today and I'm just enjoying it
- 17:18so much. Next week I have got some guests in I'll tell you about
- 17:21those in the second half of the show. So but coming up in the
- 17:25second half, I'm hoping to catch up to date and bring what sorry bring
- 17:29you up to date. I've got some rugby news, I've got some running
- 17:32news. I went to the ash for ten k on Sunday, so i'd
- 17:36be telling you about that. And I've got some news from the Saints basketball
- 17:38team, and also a little catch up on the wheelchair basketball team that top
- 17:44of the league. You know, they're doing really really well. There's not
- 17:47many games left to go, so there's every chance that they could win that
- 17:49league, right, So I'm gonna hopefully this song will take us up to
- 17:55the news. And this is Gabrielle. Give me a little more time and
- 17:57I'll see you after break. One oh five point nine Academy, The Folkston
- 18:03and Hide Squads Podcast. One five point nine Academy, The Folkston and Hide
- 18:19Squats Podcast. This is Kevin Daily, back with you here on one of
- 18:33five point nine for the Folks on a Hive sports show. I do apologize,
- 18:37but I couldn't pin any guests down this week. It is a tough
- 18:41time to try and get him in on a Thursday midday. But I might
- 18:45even have three guests in next week. It's it's like buses. You eat,
- 18:48none come along, then you get through at once. Well, we've
- 18:56still got some more local sports to get through. I've got rugby to tell
- 19:00you about. Some running news. Me and Missus Ferrick went up to Ashford
- 19:06to watch the Ashford ten k I'll be telling you about that. And we've
- 19:10been catching up with the Folks and Saints basketball and the Folkston Arrows wheelchair basketball.
- 19:15So there's plenty in this half. Oh and I'm going to do my
- 19:18little bit about Heartbeat. Play a couple of songs from Heartbeat. I love
- 19:23Heartbeat. I know I'm going to get a lot of stick for this,
- 19:26but they play such great songs from the sixties, always linked in with the
- 19:30story. And I know I've told you before, but I've been to Heartbeat
- 19:37Country. I had a point in the adens Field Arms and I loved it.
- 19:41In the meantime, we have got starting the second half, we've got
- 19:45super Trump and Dreamer and then some local music, you know, no local
- 20:14music there or FeelA, and you know what I used to love working with
- 20:18all FeelA. They are such a lovely two sisters and a brother, A
- 20:22bit like the cause. Really, you know, you think, how could
- 20:25they work together? They surely they must argue all the time, but they
- 20:27made some great tracks and got to know mom and Dad and they're just a
- 20:32lovely, lovely big family. They're kind of gone their separate ways now,
- 20:34which happens, you know, people growing up and making their own direction in
- 20:40life. But it's lovely to hear them back on local music. Oh Radio
- 20:45is time for a bit of rugby news now now with the Six Nations taking
- 20:48part of the weekend, folks in Rugby Club's third fifteen was the only result
- 20:52I could find, but it was good news as they beat Sheppy by twenty
- 20:56seven points to seven. This lifted them off the bottom of the table,
- 21:00one place above Faversham. The Saturday, all three teams are in action.
- 21:03The first fifteen welcome Matstone to the Burlington Fields who are in eighth position in
- 21:07the league, whilst Folks Doing have slipped down to fourth out of twelve teams.
- 21:11The second fifteen are away at Snowden who are sixth out of ten,
- 21:15whilst the Seconds are third in the table and the third team are at home
- 21:19to Old Graves Indians who are fourth and as we said earlier, the Thirds
- 21:23on our ninth out of ten teams. And looking back at the weekend sixth
- 21:29Nations Ireland certainly looked unstoppable whilst England lost to Scotland. But you have to
- 21:33feel for the Italians. Did you see that finale? Ah and nail bitten?
- 21:37Was it now? Kasher missed it? This was how it went.
- 21:41The score line's thirteen all, and it had passed the eightieth minute of the
- 21:45game. But unlike most games, the game doesn't end in the eightieth minute.
- 21:49It carries on, especially if a team just won a couple of points.
- 21:53It carries on until the ball goes out of play, so it could
- 21:56go on for another five minutes. Anyway, it was thirteen all and the
- 22:00Italians had to just score with quite a straightforward conversion to win the game.
- 22:07Now, the kicker has a countdown of thirty seconds in which he must kick
- 22:10the ball. With about ten seconds left on the clock, the ball wabbled
- 22:14and fell off the tee, so Paolo Garbizzi had to rush to replace the
- 22:18ball, step back take his run up. No doubt his concentration and his
- 22:22focus had been disturbed. However, he hurriedly took the kick and it agonizingly
- 22:29sailed and it hit the upright, the outside of the upright, and they
- 22:33missed the chance, denying them of the victory. It would have been the
- 22:37first time that Italians have been in France for a very very long time,
- 22:41if in fact they have ever beaten them at all. And it was such
- 22:45a drama, it really was. Everybody felt for the Italians. They played
- 22:48so so well. Lady horsiver a bit of music and oh I haven't heard
- 22:53this one for a long time. XTC make him plans for Nigel. Well,
- 23:25a really strange song there called a by a group called Space a female
- 23:29of the species. And I wonder whether our presenter in chief Ross put that
- 23:34in on purpose, because do you know what they is today February twenty ninth,
- 23:40and do you know what that means? Be careful, fellas, don't
- 23:41go home too early, because if you're just in a relationship, perhaps living
- 23:47together, it's traditional that the female of the species can get down on one
- 23:51day and ask you to marry them, putting you in a sport and oh
- 23:56dear, I don't think i'll go home today, right So anyway, once
- 23:59again, I've been watching my recorded episodes of Heartbeat, and you know what,
- 24:03I know I'll get a lot of stick for this, but I just
- 24:06loved the songs and I just love the way that they link in with the
- 24:08sixties music, with the storyline. For example, when I was watching last
- 24:12night, there was a lady retired and moved to Yorkshire, lovely, prim
- 24:17and proper lady, and she loved her painting, and she was in her
- 24:19garden painting a quaint little cottage and this song came on. I am just
- 24:34mad, She's just there. We go Donovan there. I bet you haven't
- 24:48heard that for a long time. Nineteen sixty six. And as I said,
- 24:53this lady who was doing her painting in the front garden there and this
- 24:57farmer come along. And this lady loved the countryside, but she soon changed
- 25:03the mind when the farmer, the next door farmer, he was doing muck
- 25:06spreading in the field next door, and it went all over her and her
- 25:08canvas. So I should have seen her. I could smell it through the
- 25:11tilly, I'll tell you anyway. The next scene that was a little Boy
- 25:15about a little boy. He was around about ten years old. He was
- 25:19constantly at the beck and call of his mum, who wasn't very well.
- 25:22She was pretty poorly and she got very lonely. She wouldn't let him play
- 25:26football, and sometimes she made him stay home from school and just sit there
- 25:30while she fell asleep on a sofa. So whilst all this was going on,
- 25:34this particular song, I was focusing on the poor young lad and this
- 25:40is what they played the Worry. Well. What a great track that was,
- 26:23and it just fitted in so well with the storyline about this poor little
- 26:26ten year old. It's a heartbeat always as a happy ending always has a
- 26:32happy ending though, And yeah, it's really really if you get a chance
- 26:36to just go on YouTube and listen to some music and see how it affects
- 26:40the scenario at the time. And someone that loved to sing songs on Heartbeat
- 26:45was Gina, the Liverpool bar maid from the aidens Field Arms. And I've
- 26:52had a pint in the aidens Field Arms, you know, Have I told
- 26:53you that before? Probably now she went on to sing songs. It's just
- 26:57like Lulu. She was kind of Lulu look alike, but Lulu did once
- 27:02appear on the show. But one of the many particular favorites that I enjoy
- 27:07her singing was this one, and it's her rendition of the Supremes and where
- 27:12did Our Love Go? Vo Devo, let me go, Supremes? Where
- 27:33did our Love Go? Come? On? Girls? Which one were you?
- 27:34Was you the one in the middle, Dinnah Ross or was you one
- 27:37of those ones in the background. We don't hear much about it anymore,
- 27:41but this is the very reason why I love Heartbeat, and only the early
- 27:45ones, the sixties ones, because the story relates, and if you like,
- 27:51I grew up in those times and I just those music I've been playing
- 27:55today will still be going in twenty years time, Rightio, So are we
- 28:00going to play? What's the time? Okay? Perhaps I will do a
- 28:03bit of sport as it is a sports show. Well. Last Sunday morning
- 28:07myself and Missus Ferrett went to watch the Ashford ten k. It was a
- 28:11relaxing morning for me, not being on the mic, not setting up at
- 28:14the crack of dawn, just watching and enjoying. Following loads of running friends
- 28:18who I never normally get to talk to when I'm busy. Eleven runners from
- 28:21the Folks and Running and Athletic Club took part. First mail across the line
- 28:25was Simon Ramsey, who actually finished fourth overall in a time of thirty six
- 28:29minutes and four seconds, followed by Nicki Goodwin who was third lady overall in
- 28:33forty one minutes of fifty eight seconds. Special congratulations go to Torbyn Jessen thirty
- 28:40nine to twenty one now he was the first in his VET male sixty age
- 28:44group, and Kathrine O'Connor forty four to thirty nine she was first in the
- 28:48female VET fifty in her age group. So World un two Tauburn and Katheryne
- 28:52there for winning your age groups. Other times where Tony's got fifteen nineteen,
- 28:59Diane Parsons fifty one eleven, Phil Bridge's fifty one twelve, Jenny Quinn fifty
- 29:04four to twelve, Jonathan Drinkwater fifty seven forty five, Autum Richardson won our
- 29:10three minutes and nine seconds and Katherine Curtis won hour nineteen exactly seven. S
- 29:17Avcent Harriers also took part. Private place went to former guests of the show.
- 29:21Darren Scrivens all his guests of the show in the last couple of weeks
- 29:23ago. There's so many former guests of the show that are still putting out
- 29:26excellent sporting performances. Anyway. Darren was twelve overall b and his PEB by
- 29:33a minute in a time of thirty eight minutes, twenty six seconds. Other
- 29:37times were Mike Hayley forty six forty three, Craig Hoveman forty nine twenty seven,
- 29:41Jenny Spalane fifty three fourteen, Steve Waite in Now he also knocked a
- 29:47minute off his PEB in a time of fifty three forty four, Ian McMahon
- 29:52fifty four thirty and Carolyn Waite's fifty six twenty six now. The winner was
- 29:56a lively twenty one year old called we Gatar's her home from Ashford Athletic Club,
- 30:02in a time of thirty one minutes thirty seven seconds. Now he is
- 30:04a protege of a coach for the club, Stella Bando. Now. Sue
- 30:08and I have known Stella for many years and it was great to catch up
- 30:11with her now. She seemed a little bit nervous and a bit excited and
- 30:15a bit anxious as another one of her pupils, Marshall Smith, was running
- 30:18in the Brighton Half Marathon, a race in which he came second last year.
- 30:22Well later on that afternoon I checked the results for the half and was
- 30:26pleased to find out that Marshall Will gone one better and one in a time
- 30:30of one hour, seven minutes seventeen seconds, eleven seconds ahead of his nearest
- 30:33rival. So massive congratulations must go to coach Stella. She must be very
- 30:37proud of her two star pupils Marshall and Wegata both winning races eighty miles apart.
- 31:12There we go. That's the original Buddy Holly Heartbeat song. I've finally
- 31:18had my heartbeat fixed. This week that's because we've got had no guests in
- 31:22and I've had plenty of time to just have a chat and play a bit
- 31:25more music. I might cancel my guests for next week. I've enjoyed it
- 31:27so much, but no, no, next week, I've got to I'll
- 31:30tell you about that in a minute, right, because I've still got a
- 31:33bit more sport to do, and we've got news from the Saints basketball team.
- 31:37This gets a bit complicated. I'll try to explain it. Now.
- 31:40The boys under fourteen's beat seven Oaks by ninety seven points to twenty five.
- 31:45Now, sadly, the under eighteens lost to the talented Northfleet Crusaders by one
- 31:48hundred and ten points to forty four. The under twelve mixed team, and
- 31:52I did find out that the age group of under twelve is a mixed boys
- 31:56and girls, and then when they get to fourteen, they go into each
- 32:00gender of the girls order boys. Anyway, the under twelves mixed team beat
- 32:05Worthing Thunder by eighty nine points to thirty six. And then they played a
- 32:08different Worthing team and beat them by ninety four points to sixteen. Now,
- 32:14if that wasn't enough, the under fourteen's team took on two Worthing under fourteen's
- 32:17team and beat both of them. I mean, what an achievement. That's
- 32:22four games are without defeat. Four games to Folks them against Worthing. But
- 32:25the under fourteen story doesn't end there. What it is is the Worthing have
- 32:30got so many children down in that area that they managed to put two teams
- 32:34together and put them in the same league. So if Folks then go down
- 32:37to Worthing there is a chance. I'm sure it's amicable that they played both
- 32:44of them and the Saints have played Worthing are coming up to Folks them this
- 32:49Saturday and they've got two games. They've got one eleven fifteen and then one
- 32:53at five fifteen. That's amazing well done. Now other fixtures of the under
- 32:59eighteens once again again they play Northfleet Crusaders. That's going to be a tough
- 33:04game. The under sixteen boys played the Kent Panthers that they come from Rochester.
- 33:08Then on Sunday the under sixteen girls play against the Cambridge Cats. Now
- 33:14the Folks and Arrows Wheelchair basketball team sit top of the table, one point
- 33:17above the Thames Valley Kings, with the game in hand, so if just
- 33:22three more games to go before the season is over, they need to keep
- 33:24the pressure on if they're to win the league. Last week they traveled to
- 33:28Chichester and beat the Suthern Sharks by fifty seven points to thirty four. The
- 33:32next their next fixture is not until the twenty third of March when they play
- 33:37Herowood Heat, which means a trip to Cambridge. Now, the last times
- 33:40these two teams met in Folkston, the Arrow has won by forty four points
- 33:44to thirty six in a very close game. Right, a bit of music
- 33:47now, as we are wrapping up the show, we just got some tracks
- 33:50to play and this one is the David Bowley dancing in the street. Stop
- 34:00you up David Bowie there. I'm not quite sure if Mick Jagger was in
- 34:24there, but I do remember that a classic video with Bowie and Jagger dancing
- 34:29industry. It's one of for them special live aid concerts. I think you
- 34:31know a video It was really great when two super singers get together and then
- 34:37they started doing kind of compilation. The idea caught on, didn't it.
- 34:40So yeah, great times in the music industry. Well that's it for me
- 34:45for another week. It looks like, yeah, another weekend coming up,
- 34:47so let's hope all the local football goes ahead. They'll be playing right up
- 34:52till Christmas. But no, the league, they got to get the fixtures
- 34:55in, you know, And it could be that people like well, especially
- 35:00Concord Rangers World Concorded Rangers. They're about five games behind already. They could
- 35:04be playing Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday. You just don't know this. Running
- 35:08the weathers that have never been so bad. Effects in the pitches, it's
- 35:12been really, really tough. Next week I hope to have on the show
- 35:15two members of the Nice Work running event team telling us what it's like,
- 35:21if you like, behind the scenes, what it takes to put on a
- 35:22running event. Now, this is just ahead of the twenty mile and a
- 35:28half marathon at lid where many folks and athletes will be taking part in their
- 35:30preparation for the build up to the London Marathon. Sort of turn up,
- 35:34get your number and run, don't you. But there is so much more
- 35:37to erase than meets the eye. There's so much behind the scenes, risk
- 35:42assessments, medical cover the list just goes on and on and on. So
- 35:46but next week I'm hoping to be joined by the managing director Rachel of Nice
- 35:54Work, and also the chief timer, Kevan is going to be telling me
- 36:00like what it's like. People expect their time, expect you to be right,
- 36:02and you know, chip timing is quite a science, so listen out
- 36:08next week. Well that's it for me. As I say, I've got
- 36:12a pretty quiet, sporty weekend, but I'm sure something will crop up,
- 36:17so stay dry and I'll catch up with you next week.
