- 0:00Speaker 1: Did you do that just for me?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Sure, as far as far as you know it's Katie.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Well, I mean it is from Texas, Chainsaw Massacre.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hi Katie for sure.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Hi guys.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Well, you see, we've come into a new year and
- 0:13Speaker 3: I am currently in a very big predicament of needing
- 0:18Speaker 3: a new intern.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You need another loan?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Oh, well, I mean I'll.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Take another loan by all means, as long as I
- 0:23Speaker 3: don't have to pay it back. But I am in
- 0:26Speaker 3: need of another intern.
- 0:28Speaker 2: How much do we charge interns to work here?
- 0:30Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:30Speaker 2: So much.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Well it's classified as an internship, so it is seven
- 0:34Speaker 3: to twenty five an hour, which I know is not
- 0:36Speaker 3: great or I do them. Yeah, oh it's you have
- 0:41Speaker 3: to legally in Utah. But I know it's not a
- 0:44Speaker 3: lot of money, but it is worth all of the experience,
- 0:48Speaker 3: especially if you want to be in the radio industry,
- 0:52Speaker 3: the media and entertainment industry.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Well that rules almost everybody.
- 0:56Speaker 3: No, I mean, hey, look, I was one of those weirdos.
- 0:59Speaker 3: But but we've also I mean we've pulled a couple
- 1:03Speaker 3: of younger kids that are younger than me that really
- 1:05Speaker 3: want to help out with this and be in this industry.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So it's a good way to get your foot in
- 1:10Speaker 3: the door. Obviously, the hours are early. It's about what
- 1:15Speaker 3: time does an intern have to arrive five forty five am,
- 1:18Speaker 3: So all of us are normally here about five five fifteen,
- 1:21Speaker 3: five forty five for the interns until about ten thirty
- 1:25Speaker 3: since they have to edit the podcast and finalize that
- 1:28Speaker 3: after the show.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So it's only a couple of hours, and it will be.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Every other day or so, since four hours, it is
- 1:38Speaker 3: four hours, four and a half about for forty five
- 1:42Speaker 3: minutes anyways, and you're going to.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Do all kinds of things. Katie is going to teach
- 1:48Speaker 4: you all kinds of stuff. If you want to know
- 1:49Speaker 4: about editing, yep, if you want to know, and we
- 1:52Speaker 4: do video and audio because we've actually had interns who
- 1:56Speaker 4: are interested in doing TV kind of stuff.
- 1:58Speaker 2: That kind of stuff can be helpful. Adie can teach
- 2:00Speaker 2: you to dress a wound.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I actually can, yes, I can. It may not be
- 2:04Speaker 3: completely professional, but she.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Can tell you all the rules of soccer.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I can tell you all the rules of raving. It
- 2:11Speaker 1: is a fun job.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I try and make it entertaining for the interns. It's
- 2:14Speaker 3: really cool to learn the entertainment side. The ins and
- 2:18Speaker 3: outs of radio audio editing. There are no prerequisites to
- 2:23Speaker 3: me hiring you.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Will train you with everything you need to learn.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's we have somebody new in there right now.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's Allison. You guys will meet her now.
- 2:32Speaker 2: She as Alison as Katie made it fun for you so.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Far, I hope so, but wound yet not yet. We're
- 2:43Speaker 3: working up to that one. But there's no prerequisites. So
- 2:46Speaker 3: if you don't know how to do the audio audio.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Editing, I will teach you that. If you you know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: if you've.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Never worked, you don't, you know, you really don't have
- 2:53Speaker 2: to know anything.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I mean, you guys didn't graduate from college, did you?
- 2:57Speaker 2: You got to know you? So I did? I did? Didn't?
- 3:01Speaker 2: You got to know your own.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Always, because you don't need a prerequisite to be in radio.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But it's it's a fun.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Job because you tried. Gina Kerry didn't even try the effort.
- 3:14Speaker 1: The effort shows KU radio shows, thank you.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But I was one of the crazy kids that always
- 3:21Speaker 3: wanted to be in radio growing up, and so it
- 3:24Speaker 3: was a dream come true to step in here. And
- 3:26Speaker 3: I want to give the opportunity to those that want
- 3:29Speaker 3: to be in this industry and help them excel in
- 3:33Speaker 3: this industry.
- 3:33Speaker 2: You don't have to have it. Just the desire to
- 3:36Speaker 2: do it is enough. It's a big enough I need
- 3:39Speaker 2: done anything.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I need reliability, I need punctuality, and I need your communication.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And we need your shoes shined every day a big
- 3:51Speaker 2: smile one.
- 3:52Speaker 4: You don't have to have shiny shoes.
- 3:53Speaker 1: My shoes are matt and they are brand new.
- 3:56Speaker 2: But yes, the trash man has a question.
- 4:00Speaker 5: If I intern, can I play D and D with you?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Look, I am trying.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I am trying to start in next ninety six D
- 4:07Speaker 3: and D groups so.
- 4:09Speaker 1: We can we can talk. We can talk. But it
- 4:13Speaker 1: is it is a fun job.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I know it's obviously you'll have to have a second
- 4:16Speaker 3: job after it.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I know the hours are early, but so.
- 4:20Speaker 2: If you're from a wealthy family, this would be the best.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I mean, look, I had three jobs when I was interning.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I did have three jobs with you, with doing different things.
- 4:30Speaker 3: But it really is a major foot in the door
- 4:32Speaker 3: to excel in almost any media industry.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And you'll get to.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Help out on things like we do lights Camera Brunch.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Which is coming up the podcast, help out with kind
- 4:41Speaker 3: of stuff like that.
- 4:42Speaker 2: We'll give you a donut every once in a while.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Depending sometimes you can come onto live broadcast with us
- 4:47Speaker 3: to do the video stuff.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It just you can buy coffee for me.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you can run over to a market street girl.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I used to do that for you. Guys.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I don't make you do that because I hardly breakfast
- 5:00Speaker 3: in the morning. But I am in search of an intern.
- 5:04Speaker 4: That kind of people get a hold of you.
- 5:06Speaker 3: You can reach out to me either at radio from
- 5:09Speaker 3: Hell at X ninety six dot com. I will keep
- 5:12Speaker 3: an eye on that email, or if you want to
- 5:15Speaker 3: try and get me directly, see Jones at b Way
- 5:18Speaker 3: Media and you can get me and I will reply
- 5:22Speaker 3: as soon as possible.
- 5:23Speaker 2: The letter c C as a cat.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Yeah, here's another question. Would you take a fifty year
- 5:29Speaker 5: old social worker?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Sure, hey, my mom was a social worker. We'll have
- 5:33Speaker 3: lots to talk about.
- 5:35Speaker 5: But but it also works good if you are going
- 5:38Speaker 5: to school.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Allison is in the middle of school, she's she's or
- 5:42Speaker 3: she is earning intern credit, which is a big deal.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And so that's also the opportunity that you can turn.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You can learn and get intern credit for school. You
- 5:52Speaker 3: do have to be eighteen or older, So just a
- 5:55Speaker 3: heads up. I need you out of high school obviously. Yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and then and just their early morning hours. And the reliability.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Reliability is my number one because I depend on my
- 6:08Speaker 3: interns so much.
- 6:10Speaker 4: That there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes here.
- 6:12Speaker 4: I know it doesn't seem like it. I know it
- 6:14Speaker 4: seems like we're just winging it.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I do so much and I depend on the interns
- 6:19Speaker 3: so much. And uh, you know, there are great perks
- 6:23Speaker 3: when it comes to interning. You can get cool things
- 6:26Speaker 3: sometimes ortimes.
- 6:27Speaker 4: There are tickets that we don't give away exactly.
- 6:31Speaker 5: Yeah, but you'll learn how to produce podcasts. You'll learn
- 6:33Speaker 5: how to produce video feed so.
- 6:36Speaker 3: That from live streaming to making videos and posting them
- 6:39Speaker 3: on social media's podcast recording, which I even started my
- 6:43Speaker 3: own podcast after doing this with you guys, and so
- 6:47Speaker 3: it really can help with any media audio.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And I'd like it if you had a really cool
- 6:53Speaker 2: car and wouldn't mind driving me around once in a while.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, if you have a really cool car or
- 6:59Speaker 3: have a lot of sticker on your car. I have
- 7:00Speaker 3: a lot of stickers in my car. Everybody knows if
- 7:02Speaker 3: I'm there, But yeah, please reach out. It is a
- 7:06Speaker 3: great opportunity and I really do need some reliable help.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So that's it.
- 7:10Speaker 4: I mean, you know, that's how Katie started. That's how yeah, Nick.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I mean.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Corey Cameron Diez.
- 7:17Speaker 2: She excelled and she's working for the big boys now.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah. She and I'm very proud of her.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And it's really cool to see those interns that we
- 7:26Speaker 3: have brought in excel in the future. And it's not
- 7:30Speaker 3: like I'm trying to hold you down as an intern.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I want to help you develop this ability and this
- 7:35Speaker 3: knowledge and excel in the radio industry if that's what
- 7:38Speaker 3: you're looking for.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Media.
- 7:39Speaker 2: We had an intern once who went went on to
- 7:42Speaker 2: work at Abbat Crombie and Finch Lovely.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Well, you guys had an intern that's now a lead
- 7:46Speaker 1: singer of a.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Band Butcher Baby, such Baby.
- 7:51Speaker 1: That's right, thank you.
- 7:53Speaker 3: But yeah, so there's a lot of opportunities that can
- 7:56Speaker 3: go from just starting an internship.
- 7:59Speaker 5: You know, my aunt is in her nineties and she
- 8:02Speaker 5: lives over here in American Towers.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Great, maybe she's she doesn't sleep, ye, I mean.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Hey, it's it's a quick walk.
- 8:10Speaker 3: But yeah, so radio from Hell at X ninety six
- 8:13Speaker 3: dot com or c as in kat Jones at g
- 8:17Speaker 3: B waymedia dot com.
- 8:18Speaker 2: We have had we've we have had a couple of
- 8:20Speaker 2: mature interns.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, and I do not judge by age.
- 8:28Speaker 4: You just have to be eighteen.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Like, yes, yeah, so please reach out. In turn, I
- 8:33Speaker 1: need it.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Uh And you're like, you want to get this taken
- 8:38Speaker 2: care of?
- 8:39Speaker 3: This? Is it? Yeah?
- 8:40Speaker 1: As soon as possible.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Yes, I need help because Alison can only do so
- 8:47Speaker 3: many days, so you'll be it'll be switching off days.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And it's nice that Alvin there comes in and helps out.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Alvin and Spencer and all the other names that I'll
- 8:55Speaker 3: give Tanner. I don't know Tanner right, but yeah, so
- 9:00Speaker 3: please reach out and and help me out.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Look, if I say, hey, Alvin, how you doing? Look, see,
- 9:08Speaker 2: you gotta.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Quit responding to that Tanner.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Make him say your name. I think he loves it,
- 9:14Speaker 1: call me name. So thanks you guys. I appreciate it.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I really want to get that out there and I'll
- 9:21Speaker 3: be feeling this as soon as possible.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So in turn, please.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I love you radio. Yeah, well, good luck in radio.
- 9:34Speaker 2: And don't think you can be like us and drink
- 9:36Speaker 2: on the job. That's another. Thanks.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Everybody in America pretty much either had a radio or
- 9:42Speaker 4: had access to one, and you could use it for free.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Soon, you'll be able to walk into your Admiral deal
- 9:49Speaker 2: the store and confidently behy the style of radio or
- 9:52Speaker 2: radio phonograph you want. Radio, I have a couple of those.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Do now, I do
