- 0:00Speaker 1: Saturday, September 19th, 1953, marked ABC's 51st Space Patrol episode,
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Spies from Planet X. Space Patrol intelligence has received
- 0:12Speaker 1: word that Prince Baccarati, believed to be at his remote
- 0:16Speaker 1: Planet X stronghold, may have been seen in Saturn City.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Commander Buzz Corey and Cadet Happy head for the Saturn
- 0:24Speaker 1: City spaceport, where their inquiry involves a man thought to
- 0:28Speaker 1: be the Prince's cousin and the Baccarati family jewels. Ed
- 0:33Speaker 1: Kemmer and Lynn Osborne lead the cast in a script
- 0:36Speaker 1: by Lou Houston with Larry Robertson directing. Here is the
- 0:40Speaker 1: original broadcast.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Sweet Jacks, Rice Jacks, and Good Hot Ralston present Space Patrol!
- 0:55Speaker 3: I adventure in the wild, vast reaches of space.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Missions of daring in the name of interplanetary justice. Travel
- 1:01Speaker 2: into the future with Buzz Corey, commander-in-chief of the Space Patrol.
- 1:09Speaker 3: In today's transcribed adventure, Buzz and Happy are at the Saturn.
- 1:12Speaker 2: City spaceport following a man they believe to be a
- 1:15Speaker 2: cousin of Prince Baccarati.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Let's close in. Just a minute, Benson.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yes?
- 1:26Speaker 3: I thought you promised to stay on Saturn. Oh, did I, Corey? Commander,
- 1:30Speaker 3: it's Prince Makarov. Get him, Hap. All right, Malangro, use
- 1:32Speaker 3: your ray gun.
- 1:37Speaker 4: That does it, Malangro. Get them aboard the ship. We'll
- 1:39Speaker 4: give them a one-way trip to Planet X. We'll return
- 1:46Speaker 4: in just a moment with.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Today's exciting space patrol adventure, The Spies from Planet X. Say, gang,
- 1:56Speaker 2: have you met the twin space patrollers who've just moved
- 1:58Speaker 2: in down the block a ways? A couple of real
- 2:00Speaker 2: swell fellas and supercharged all the way. Well, now's your
- 2:04Speaker 2: chance to meet them.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Here they are. I can't choose them. I'm Space Patroller
- 2:10Speaker 3: Tom Smith. And I'm Space Patroller Danny Smith. Man, oh, man,
- 2:13Speaker 3: am I seeing double. You look alike and you talk alike.
- 2:16Speaker 5: And we eat alike.
- 2:17Speaker 3: We had our bite-sized checks today.
- 2:19Speaker 6: How about you?
- 2:19Speaker 3: Did I have my bite-sized checks today?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Did I have a big bowl full of rice checks
- 2:23Speaker 2: or wheat checks? The best tasting cereals from here to
- 2:25Speaker 2: the outer orbit of Pluto? Well, you bet I did.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I'm supercharged just like both of you. Now, Space Patroller.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Did you power up with that bite-sized Chex nourishment this morning?
- 2:35Speaker 2: You know, no other cereal, flake or puff, contains so
- 2:38Speaker 2: much nourishment in such concentrated bite-sized form. That's why Rice
- 2:43Speaker 2: Chex and Wheat Chex are official cereals of every space.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Patroller in the universe.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So, gang, take a tip from these supercharged twins, and
- 2:50Speaker 2: every day before you blast off for school or play,
- 2:53Speaker 2: have yourself a power breakfast with.
- 2:55Speaker 3: White-sized Rice Chex!
- 2:57Speaker 5: White-sized Wheat Chex!
- 2:59Speaker 6: Ooh!
- 3:04Speaker 2: And now, today's Space Patrol adventure, The Spies from Planet X.
- 3:08Speaker 2: In recent weeks, Buzz has successfully thwarted attempts by Prince
- 3:12Speaker 2: Baccarati to sabotage United Planet's defenses.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Space Patrol intelligence has been convinced that Prince.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Baccarati, former ruler of Neptune, was holed up in his
- 3:21Speaker 2: fabulous castle on the remote Planet X, recouping his strength.
- 3:24Speaker 2: But a Space Patrol agent has reportedly seen Baccarati in
- 3:28Speaker 2: Saturn City. In response to this report, Commander Corey and
- 3:31Speaker 2: Cadet Happy are speeding toward the planet Saturn.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Commander, if that really is Baccarati, he sure got a
- 3:38Speaker 7: lot of nerve.
- 3:39Speaker 2: All we know is that this man reported to be
- 3:40Speaker 2: Baccarati has been dealing with the Zocra importing company of
- 3:43Speaker 2: Saturn City. Zocra importing? A small outfit, practically a one-man operation.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Run by Emil Zocra. Seems to specialize in knick-knacks and
- 3:52Speaker 2: curios from the different planets.
- 3:54Speaker 7: Do you think knick-knacks would make Baccarati come all the
- 3:56Speaker 7: way to Planet X and risk getting caught?
- 3:58Speaker 3: I can tell you more about that, Happy, when we
- 3:59Speaker 3: talk to Mr. Zandra.
- 4:06Speaker 2: A few hours later, Buzz and Happy walk down a
- 4:08Speaker 2: small side street in Saturn City. Most of the shops
- 4:11Speaker 2: are closed for the day, except one shabby little store,
- 4:15Speaker 2: in which a dim green light casts a weird glow
- 4:18Speaker 2: over shells of dusty vases, statues, and carvings. A replica
- 4:22Speaker 2: of an outmoded spaceship hangs above the door. On it,
- 4:25Speaker 2: in luminous letters, are the words, Zakra Importance.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Here we are, Hattie.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I don't see anyone inside. Maybe they're closed by the door.
- 4:35Speaker 6: It's open. Somebody must be in there. Let's go in.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Oh, look at the dust. I wouldn't say business was
- 4:50Speaker 3: exactly booming. Anybody here? Let's try the back door.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Uh-oh.
- 4:59Speaker 5: Commander, look.
- 5:00Speaker 3: The man on the floor behind the counter. I'm still breathing.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Maybe I.
- 5:07Speaker 6: Somebody's stuck under the ground. Is it Zucker? I don't know.
- 5:11Speaker 6: Somebody's coming to get me. I'm just hoping to.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Hold it, Baccarati. You came back to finish the job,
- 5:24Speaker 2: I suppose.
- 5:25Speaker 5: The job? I don't know what you're talking about.
- 5:28Speaker 3: His voice, sir. His voice is different.
- 5:31Speaker 5: He looks like Baccarati. What's your name? I... Baccarat.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Huh?
- 5:37Speaker 5: I'm surprised to hear that name after all these years.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Most people know me as Vance and Thomas Vance. Are
- 5:44Speaker 3: you related to Prince Baccarati?
- 5:46Speaker 5: My cousin. Unfortunately, Family resemblance. I see.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Well, take a look behind that counter and see if
- 5:53Speaker 2: that man resembles anyone you know.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Hey, Doc, what's that? I thought perhaps you could tell us.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Why would I?
- 6:05Speaker 3: What are you doing here, Mr.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Benson?
- 6:08Speaker 3: I was just busy. Were you expecting your cousin?
- 6:16Speaker 5: No, I should say not.
- 6:17Speaker 3: All right, Benson. We're going to get Mr.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Zocker to a doctor, and we'll have a little talk
- 6:21Speaker 2: at Space Patrol Headquarters. While Cadet Haffey scans the files
- 6:29Speaker 2: for information on Thomas Benson, Commander Corey at Saturn City
- 6:32Speaker 2: Headquarters questions the man who bears such a striking physical
- 6:36Speaker 2: resemblance to the evil Prince Baccarati. And you know absolutely
- 6:39Speaker 2: nothing of your cousin's whereabouts?
- 6:40Speaker 5: No, Commander.
- 6:42Speaker 3: We haven't had any contact since... Well, since he was
- 6:45Speaker 3: forced to leave Napa, and we were.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Never very friendly, even with birds.
- 6:49Speaker 3: And your home is on Neptune. You're just visiting Saturn.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 6:52Speaker 3: It's a business trip.
- 6:54Speaker 5: I've been here about a week.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I've completed the check, sir.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That'll be all, Mr. Benson, for the time being. You
- 7:02Speaker 3: plan to be in Saturn City for a while? Why, yes.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Yes, I do, Commander.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I'm at the Alcor Hotel.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Good.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I may want to talk to you some more. Call
- 7:11Speaker 3: me any time.
- 7:13Speaker 6: Good night, Commander.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Good night.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 7: That isn't the craziest thing. That guy's a dead ringer
- 7:21Speaker 7: from Baccarati, but he sounds different than I expected.
- 7:23Speaker 5: What did you find out, Hunky?
- 7:25Speaker 7: Oh, uh, he's Thomas Benson, engaged in the manufacturing business
- 7:28Speaker 7: on Neptune. First cousin of Prince Baccarati.
- 7:30Speaker 5: Why?
- 7:30Speaker 3: Changed his name from Baccarati to Benson. This'll kill you soon.
- 7:34Speaker 3: At Prince Baccarati's request, he saved the family from embarrassment.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Oh?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, the prince didn't want to be disgraced by a
- 7:40Speaker 2: cousin who worked. Does Benson have any criminal records?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Oh, no, sir.
- 7:45Speaker 7: Spends his spare time collecting little statuettes, mercury jade, mostly.
- 7:49Speaker 5: What about Zakra?
- 7:50Speaker 3: Well, he'll pull through all right, sir, but he's still
- 7:51Speaker 3: in a coma. He hasn't got a record either.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I was hoping this cousin might be an important link
- 7:55Speaker 2: in Prince Baccarati's spy ring. Somehow, Baccarati manages to get
- 7:59Speaker 2: information to and from the United Planets and Planet X. Yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 2: and with the space at home channels being monitored the
- 8:04Speaker 2: way they are, and Planet X almost blocked it.
- 8:06Speaker 3: There's a leak somewhere, Hattie. Well, it sure isn't Vincent.
- 8:09Speaker 7: Why, in a whole week, Vincent's space patrol guard didn't
- 8:11Speaker 7: see anyone get through to Vincent that didn't have copper identification.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Space patrol gone? Yes, sir.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Benson asked for special protection around his home in Neptune
- 8:19Speaker 7: City a couple weeks ago. Why did they want special protection? Well,
- 8:22Speaker 7: he told the Neptune City chief he'd received an anonymous threat. Well,
- 8:25Speaker 7: after a week, the chief figured it was just a crank,
- 8:27Speaker 7: and he called the patrol off.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Why didn't you mention that before? Well, gee, sir, I
- 8:32Speaker 3: guess I figured it wasn't important.
- 8:33Speaker 7: If Baccarati's cousin was spying for the prince, he wouldn't
- 8:36Speaker 7: ask for space patrol protection, would he?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Or would he? Well, we're in Saturn City, Hap. I
- 8:43Speaker 3: think we'll keep an eye on Thomas Benson.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Meanwhile, far out in space, avoiding the regular space lanes,
- 8:53Speaker 2: a space cruiser races toward Saturn. In it are Prince
- 8:57Speaker 2: Baccarati and his scientific aide, Dr.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Malangro. This night is excellent, Your Highness. If I hadn't
- 9:05Speaker 3: helped you make up, I swear I'd never recognize you.
- 9:08Speaker 3: We'll pass the scheduled inspections. And since the space patrol
- 9:12Speaker 3: has no reason to suspect that I'll be on Saturn,
- 9:14Speaker 3: we'll have no trouble. But why is your cousin Thomas
- 9:17Speaker 3: doesn't have the jewels with him on Saturn? Of course
- 9:19Speaker 3: he's got them with him. That's why he left Neptune
- 9:22Speaker 3: and came to Saturn to hide the jewels.
- 9:25Speaker 4: I know those threats would worry him, and when a
- 9:27Speaker 4: man like my cousin is frightened, he doesn't trust his
- 9:29Speaker 4: own judgment from one minute to the next.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Then trying to find a safer place for the jewels,
- 9:34Speaker 3: he practically brings them out into the open? That's right.
- 9:37Speaker 4: He taught it would be clever to conceal millions worth
- 9:41Speaker 4: of jewels with a dealer in worthless junk like Zocra.
- 9:44Speaker 3: But evidently Zocra knew nothing of the gems. I'm sure
- 9:48Speaker 3: your agent could have made him talk. My men bungled there.
- 9:51Speaker 4: You should have known my cousin wouldn't trust a small
- 9:54Speaker 4: shopkeeper with that much treasure.
- 9:56Speaker 3: What Thomas had in mind probably was to conceal.
- 9:59Speaker 4: The gems in various great abracs without Dr.
- 10:01Speaker 3: s knowledge. My agent should never have struck the doctor.
- 10:05Speaker 3: At least, not until he was sure Thomas was complete
- 10:07Speaker 3: at his arrangement.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Yes, Excellency.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Now your cousin will be frightened away. Oh, that would
- 10:13Speaker 3: be all right, Melania. I've got to. I need them
- 10:16Speaker 3: to pay off my agency.
- 10:17Speaker 4: And to buy information, I need to keep ahead of
- 10:19Speaker 4: Commander Corey.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Of course you will. Five minutes out of bad news today.
- 10:24Speaker 3: He's made excellent time from Planet X, your Majesty. He
- 10:27Speaker 3: won't have much to spare.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Knowing Thomas, the way I do, he's probably getting ready
- 10:31Speaker 4: to leave Patron to look for another place to hide.
- 10:40Speaker 5: His dreams. Commander.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Yes, Happy?
- 10:42Speaker 7: I just picked up some information about Thomas Benson. His
- 10:44Speaker 7: book passage on the space queen for Neptune for tonight.
- 10:47Speaker 2: He told me he was staying here on Saturn for
- 10:49Speaker 2: a while. Well, let's get out to the spaceport.
- 10:50Speaker 3: And find out why Thomas Benson is suddenly anxious to
- 10:53Speaker 3: return there.
- 10:57Speaker 2: At the Saturn City spaceport, Thomas Benson nervously paces back
- 11:01Speaker 2: and forth in an almost deserted wing of a big
- 11:04Speaker 2: terminal building, unaware that two men are watching his every move.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Attention, please. The Space Queen will blast off for Neptune
- 11:13Speaker 3: in 20 minutes.
- 11:14Speaker 8: Gate 9 is now open.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Passengers are requested to board the ship immediately.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Just a moment, Thomas.
- 11:24Speaker 3: What's your hurry?
- 11:25Speaker 5: Well, I don't believe I know you. If you don't mind,
- 11:29Speaker 5: I've got to get aboard. Don't you recognize your own cousin?
- 11:32Speaker 5: It's you. That's right.
- 11:36Speaker 9: Your royal relation, Prince Baccarat. Now, if you'll be good
- 11:40Speaker 9: enough to hand over those jewels.
- 11:43Speaker 5: I haven't any jewels. Now, come, come, Thomas.
- 11:46Speaker 4: My father's death, you received quite a fortune in precious.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Gems, and I won them. But they're mine. He willed
- 11:53Speaker 3: them to me. He willed them to Baccarati. You have
- 11:56Speaker 3: renounced our noble name. You're no Baccarati. You're just plain
- 12:00Speaker 3: Thomas Bentley.
- 12:02Speaker 9: Now I need those jewels to restore the name Baccarati
- 12:05Speaker 9: to the former lusper.
- 12:06Speaker 3: In the solar system.
- 12:07Speaker 5: You're mad.
- 12:08Speaker 3: All geniuses are considered mad by the ordinary. And the stupid.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I can put those gems to good use now. Now
- 12:16Speaker 3: hand them over. You don't think I'd be carrying them
- 12:20Speaker 3: with me?
- 12:21Speaker 9: Perhaps not. You're anxious to get back to Neptune. Therefore,
- 12:26Speaker 9: the jewels are still there.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Very well.
- 12:30Speaker 4: I'll take you to Neptune in my ship.
- 12:32Speaker 5: No, you can't.
- 12:33Speaker 3: You're wanted by the space patrol if they catch me.
- 12:35Speaker 3: They won't catch me. You didn't recognize me.
- 12:38Speaker 9: My own cousin and Commander Torrey walked within 20 feet of.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Me while he was following you.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Torrey.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Good.
- 12:48Speaker 3: You can't possibly take me away with what I hear.
- 12:50Speaker 6: Then he knows who you are.
- 12:54Speaker 3: He doesn't think you're Prince Baccarat.
- 12:56Speaker 5: He knows where. And if you try to support him.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I have an idea. Get into this vacant room over there.
- 13:02Speaker 3: We'll change clothes. And I'll remove this disguise. Hurry up! Attention, please.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Gate 9 will close in one minute.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Passengers bound for Neptune on the space queen must board
- 13:18Speaker 4: the ship immediately.
- 13:19Speaker 3: What happened to Benzie, sir? You think he's home? He
- 13:21Speaker 3: may have. He leaves the terminal.
- 13:23Speaker 6: He'll be followed.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Come on, Benzie.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Go and see that other gate.
- 13:26Speaker 6: That Benzie?
- 13:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 13:29Speaker 3: That gate leads to the private cruiser blast off. That
- 13:32Speaker 3: Benzie's pulling a fast one, eh? One happens to follow him, sir.
- 13:45Speaker 3: He's heading for the big private prison. He's in the
- 13:47Speaker 3: shadow of this freight-loading person.
- 13:49Speaker 6: All right, come on.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Let's close in.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Just a minute, Benson. Yes? I thought you promised to
- 13:56Speaker 3: stay on Saturn. Step over here under the light. Anything
- 13:59Speaker 3: to oblige, Corey? Commander, it's Prince Baccarati. Get him, Hap.
- 14:02Speaker 3: All right, Malenko. Use your ray gun.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Neatly done, Malenko.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Now, help me get Corey and the cadet aboard my ship.
- 14:12Speaker 4: After we get the jewels, we'll give the commander a
- 14:15Speaker 4: one-way trip to Planet X.
- 14:22Speaker 2: We'll return to space patrol in just a moment.
- 14:34Speaker 8: That was an F-86 Sabre Jet Fighter in actual combat
- 14:38Speaker 8: in Korea.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I'm George Welch.
- 14:40Speaker 8: Chief test pilot of the Sabre Jet at North American Aviation.
- 14:44Speaker 3: In Los Angeles.
- 14:45Speaker 8: The Sabre is 37 feet long, weight 8 tons.
- 14:50Speaker 3: The wings are swept back at a 35 degree angle
- 14:53Speaker 3: and their span is 37 feet.
- 14:55Speaker 8: The top speed of the Sabre Jet is more than
- 14:58Speaker 8: 650 miles an hour. I was lucky enough to make
- 15:02Speaker 8: the first flight in the F-86 Sabre Jet. The first
- 15:05Speaker 8: time up for the 50th, every flight is important. That's
- 15:09Speaker 8: why I have to keep in top shape. I like
- 15:12Speaker 8: to eat good food.
- 15:13Speaker 5: With lots of energy in it.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Rice Chex and Wheat Chex meet that test.
- 15:17Speaker 5: And they taste exactly right.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I think you'll like them too.
- 15:21Speaker 1: No other cereal, puffed or flaked, contains so much nourishment
- 15:25Speaker 1: in such concentrated bite-sized form.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Rice Chex.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Wheat Chex. And now back to the spies from Planet X.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Prince Baccarati donned a disguise and came to Saturn to
- 15:43Speaker 2: steal a fortune in precious gems from his cousin Thomas Benson,
- 15:46Speaker 2: who totally resembled the evil prince. Thinking they were following Benson,
- 15:50Speaker 2: Monson Hattie were overpowered by Baccarati and Dr. Malangro, and
- 15:54Speaker 2: now are captives in the prince's private cruiser heading toward Neptune.
- 15:58Speaker 2: In the compartment with them is their fellow prisoner, Thomas Benson.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I'm telling you the truth, Commander. I was only going
- 16:04Speaker 3: back to Nets to protect my... Why didn't you tell
- 16:06Speaker 3: me that before?
- 16:07Speaker 5: You realize I should have told you everything, but.
- 16:10Speaker 3: I didn't want to bring my cousin's name into it.
- 16:12Speaker 3: You see, I've managed to live down the fact that
- 16:15Speaker 3: I'm a Baccarat. I wanted to avoid unpleasant bliss.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Someone's outside the door.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I can only put my hands free.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Take it easy now.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Ah, gentlemen. Are you enjoying the trip? Well, Baccarati, going
- 16:31Speaker 3: to a masquerade? I've resumed my disguise. You see, we'll
- 16:35Speaker 3: be landing on Neptune in a few minutes. After my
- 16:37Speaker 3: cousin gives me.
- 16:38Speaker 4: The jewels from his vault, I shall remove my disguise
- 16:41Speaker 4: and return to my.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Ship as cousin Tom. You're going to leave me in
- 16:46Speaker 3: Neptune's city, then?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:48Speaker 3: When I have the jewels, you'll be of no further
- 16:50Speaker 3: use to me, cousin. Why do you need the jewels, Baccarati?
- 16:54Speaker 3: I understood you were rich.
- 16:56Speaker 4: But it costs quite a bit to maintain my spy
- 16:58Speaker 4: system under United Planets, Commander.
- 17:00Speaker 3: And you must admit, it's quite effective. It has been
- 17:04Speaker 3: so far, Baccarati. Frankly, I don't see how you'd do it.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I mean, maintain contact between Planet X and Eurasia.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Oh, I might as well tell you, Corey, since there
- 17:13Speaker 3: is nothing you can do about it.
- 17:16Speaker 4: I have a robot receiving station on Saturn's eighth moon.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Funny we haven't picked up any messages from it. Not
- 17:22Speaker 3: at all.
- 17:23Speaker 9: Yes.
- 17:24Speaker 3: You see, there are no transmitters at the station, merely receivers.
- 17:28Speaker 3: But what good does it do for a robot just
- 17:30Speaker 3: to receive messages?
- 17:31Speaker 4: They're recorded on tape and automatically indexed electronically for the
- 17:35Speaker 4: agent they're intended for.
- 17:37Speaker 2: When your spies visit moon number eight in space, you
- 17:39Speaker 2: have to get their information.
- 17:40Speaker 5: And instructions and go back to work.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 17:44Speaker 4: An occasional innocent-looking prospecting ship visiting the deserted moon.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Never arouses suspicion.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Very clever, Baccarati.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Thank you, Commandant.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Uh, now, Cousin Thomas, I'll release you. We're about to land, Corey.
- 17:57Speaker 4: You and the cadet will remain in the ship till
- 17:59Speaker 4: I return.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Dr.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Malangro will see that you're in town.
- 18:09Speaker 2: A few moments later, two men of almost identical size
- 18:12Speaker 2: and build get out of a surface car in front
- 18:14Speaker 2: of a handsome dwelling in Neptune City.
- 18:17Speaker 5: They enter the building and proceed to a large room.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Nervously, one of the men presses a button in the wall.
- 18:23Speaker 5: Panel slides silently.
- 18:25Speaker 9: You can fill up panels. Now open the case. I
- 18:29Speaker 9: can't remember the combination. I have a few tricks that
- 18:32Speaker 9: will jog your memory. Two very sensitive electronic combinations.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Look, I'm... I don't think I can.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Just try it and quit stalling! Open it!
- 18:49Speaker 5: There. The jewel for that in the box.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Open it up.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Not that I doubt your honesty, of course. Are you
- 18:58Speaker 5: sure this is all of them? Yes.
- 19:01Speaker 3: All right.
- 19:03Speaker 9: I'll be running along, though, Thomas. First, I'll take the
- 19:05Speaker 9: precaution of using this ray gun on you. After all,
- 19:12Speaker 9: I couldn't have you spreading.
- 19:13Speaker 4: An alarm till I'm safely on my way back to
- 19:16Speaker 4: Planet X.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Removing his disguise, Prince Baccarati boldly returns to the Neptune
- 19:30Speaker 2: City spaceport, boards his ship, and blasts off.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Now, an hour later, with Dr.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Malengo at the controls and the ship headed toward Planet X,
- 19:38Speaker 2: the prince taunts his prisoner, Commander Corrin.
- 19:41Speaker 3: You see, Commander, everything is working fine. You're out of juice.
- 19:46Speaker 3: What did you do with your cousin, Baccarati? Oh, he'll
- 19:49Speaker 3: be alright. in a few hours.
- 19:51Speaker 9: You know, for years I hated the idea that Thomas
- 19:54Speaker 9: looked like me.
- 19:55Speaker 3: It offended my sense of individuality. Now I'm glad of it. Oh,
- 20:01Speaker 3: the approach warning. Something's wrong. Space patrol ship approaching at
- 20:04Speaker 3: two o'clock, Your Highness. What are your orders?
- 20:06Speaker 4: Space patrol ship? Confirmed it. Comets couldn't have put an
- 20:10Speaker 4: alarm in this quickly. Hurry, come out front of me.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Get moving.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Do you see.
- 20:20Speaker 6: It, your highness?
- 20:21Speaker 3: Of course I see it. That's why I brought Cory
- 20:23Speaker 3: out here. We can use him to persuade the ship
- 20:25Speaker 3: not to fire on us. Excellent idea, your highness. Wait.
- 20:29Speaker 3: That's a robot starship. That's right, Baccarati. It's sending out
- 20:32Speaker 3: electronic information on your position and vector. I'll fix that, Belangroth.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Use the proton gun. At once, Excellency. Hurry up. As
- 20:39Speaker 3: said before, it can relay our vector. Stand right where
- 20:42Speaker 3: you are, Corey. I got it, your Highness. Lone two fish.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Good work, Merangro. It certainly is. Now there won't be
- 20:54Speaker 3: any doubt that the patrol ship will come after us.
- 20:56Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 20:57Speaker 2: When that robot ship stops sending a space drone signal,
- 20:59Speaker 2: a squadron will immediately come here to investigate.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Merangro, change our vector now. Any place but for Planet X.
- 21:06Speaker 3: I know. That's where Saturn, Moon Number 8. I can
- 21:11Speaker 3: hide out there till we learn it's safe to return
- 21:13Speaker 3: to Planet X. Come on, Corey, back to your compartment.
- 21:23Speaker 3: He changed vectors, huh? Where's he taking me? He wants
- 21:25Speaker 3: to hide out on Moon Number 8. Smart move, huh?
- 21:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:29Speaker 3: What's that in here? It's the jewel box.
- 21:32Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And I'd pick it up while Baccarati was excited over
- 21:35Speaker 3: the space report.
- 21:36Speaker 5: That's right.
- 21:36Speaker 3: So what good are they going to do us?
- 21:38Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Except it'll worry Baccarati when he misses him.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Can't stand a kiss.
- 21:43Speaker 3: There's a locker under that seat. See if we can
- 21:45Speaker 3: get it open. There's only some weapons in here.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We can.
- 21:51Speaker 7: Ah, just the spacesuits.
- 21:53Speaker 3: How many spacesuits?
- 21:54Speaker 5: Three.
- 21:55Speaker 3: And here's an economy report.
- 21:56Speaker 7: Hey, hey, we could cut our way out of the
- 21:58Speaker 7: compartment and watch Baccarati and Marlena.
- 22:00Speaker 3: They're armed.
- 22:01Speaker 5: If we failed, it would be our last chance.
- 22:03Speaker 3: With these spacesuits, maybe we could get out of the ship.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I know. Through the cargo loading tube. Happy, get those
- 22:09Speaker 3: suits out. I'll go to work from the door with
- 22:11Speaker 3: the automotor. Take this space phone out of the search.
- 22:13Speaker 3: There's no sign of the ship in the viewscope, Johannes.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Good.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Then we've thrown them out. We can reach moon number eight.
- 22:27Speaker 3: We'll be in the pier.
- 22:28Speaker 10: Man of Chlor-A calling all space patrol units. The Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn, Saturn.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Listen, we need to call it. How did he get us?
- 22:35Speaker 3: I don't know. The Locker. He got into the Locker.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Those extraspaces. Come on, we've got to stop him. Fan
- 22:41Speaker 3: a quarry to all space patrol units. Vince Baccarati is
- 22:44Speaker 3: heading for Saturn Moon Number 8 in a private cruiser.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Be careful. The ship is armed with a proton gun.
- 22:49Speaker 3: They're gone. Get out of the compartment. Your Highness, they
- 22:52Speaker 3: must have left the ship.
- 22:53Speaker 5: The cargo chute.
- 22:54Speaker 3: They've escaped. Wait. Get back to the control compartment. Hurry.
- 22:57Speaker 10: I'm unable to give the registry number of Baccarati's ship,
- 22:59Speaker 10: but it's a Class B cruiser. This vector is approximately
- 23:03Speaker 10: 40 degrees sun-regulus orientation.
- 23:05Speaker 3: If something's found at Milango, he'll have every ship in
- 23:07Speaker 3: the universe after us. Look out the starboard viewport. There
- 23:11Speaker 3: they are. I knew it. They're floating along with the ship.
- 23:14Speaker 3: What is that that Corey's called? They haven't heard him yet.
- 23:17Speaker 3: They will soon enough. The proton gun. That will fix him. But,
- 23:21Speaker 3: Your Highness... Get out of my way. We've got to
- 23:23Speaker 3: stop hurrying.
- 23:24Speaker 4: And that proton gun will do the trick.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Your Highness will only... Attention all space patrol units. This
- 23:29Speaker 3: is an emergency. This will silence him. Commander Corey calling
- 23:32Speaker 3: all units.
- 23:33Speaker 2: This is an emergency.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Bees without a trace.
- 23:39Speaker 6: Both of them.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Now, that will take care of Cory for sure. If
- 23:43Speaker 3: we can't continue to moon number eight, someone may have
- 23:45Speaker 3: hurt his face. We'll change back to it. Perhaps we
- 23:48Speaker 3: can proceed directly to planet X. The space patrol will be... Oh, no.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It's an alien. The jewel. Well, where is the jewel, Bob?
- 23:57Speaker 3: I had it in my hand a while ago. That's
- 23:59Speaker 3: what I was trying to tell you. You put the
- 24:02Speaker 3: mirror near the control panel and I'll roll the chip
- 24:04Speaker 3: and tear it. My treasure. Corey had it when the
- 24:09Speaker 3: proton gun blew him up. My tools disintegrated. Why didn't
- 24:13Speaker 3: you warn me? You're a idiot. I have to think
- 24:17Speaker 3: of everything around here. Now what are we going to do?
- 24:20Speaker 3: You won't need those tools now, Baccarati. Corey. Take care
- 24:23Speaker 3: of Malingo, Happy. Yes, sir. All right, Baccarati. Are you
- 24:33Speaker 3: going to be sensible, or can I fix it so
- 24:35Speaker 3: nobody will mistake you for your cousin? I've had enough.
- 24:39Speaker 3: I said you were in those spacesuits. Sure you did.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I didn't want you searching the ship for the spacephone
- 24:46Speaker 3: I was really using, so I used two suits as decoys.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We're heading for moon number eight. You're going to show
- 24:52Speaker 3: me that robot receiving station, Baccarati.
- 24:59Speaker 2: A few hours later, Buzz sets Baccarati's cruisers down on
- 25:02Speaker 2: the rocky surface of Saturn's moon number eight. Then he
- 25:05Speaker 2: and Happy hold ray guns on Malangro and Baccarati as
- 25:08Speaker 2: the four men clad in spacesuits step out on the
- 25:10Speaker 2: Ilo Saturn.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Keep moving, Baccarati.
- 25:15Speaker 6: Man at the foot of this big cliff, Corey.
- 25:18Speaker 3: You and Malangro go first. Watch your step, Happy. That's
- 25:20Speaker 3: quite a drop. Move along, Malingro.
- 25:23Speaker 2: You're in my way.
- 25:24Speaker 3: You're right. On your right, grab Malingro. He's falling. Grab
- 25:28Speaker 3: that ledge. He's got it, sir. All right. Study now, Malingro.
- 25:32Speaker 3: I've got pull with your arm.
- 25:34Speaker 7: Hang on to me.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yes, sir.
- 25:36Speaker 9: All right, now.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Pull. I've got you, sir. Now, just relax, Malingro. You're
- 25:41Speaker 3: all right. There.
- 25:46Speaker 6: That was close.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Sorry, mess, Malingro. So, watch it next time.
- 25:50Speaker 10: It looked to me as though Baccarati pushed Malangro instead
- 25:53Speaker 10: of trying to help him.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Where is Baccarati? He's gone. I forgot all about him.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Trying to save Malangro. He's timed up and headed for
- 26:01Speaker 3: the ship. You watch Malangro. I'll go up after him.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Yes, sir.
- 26:05Speaker 6: We're too late.
- 26:07Speaker 3: There he goes. Get that.
- 26:11Speaker 7: Baccarati's willing to kill this guy to make a getaway,
- 26:13Speaker 7: and Malangro says, good luck.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I have an idea. Baccarati won't get very far. Space
- 26:18Speaker 3: patrol ships will be showing up pretty quick. Commander, the
- 26:21Speaker 3: proton gun.
- 26:22Speaker 6: Baccarati can blast us to bits.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Not without the proton firing cell.
- 26:26Speaker 5: Huh?
- 26:26Speaker 3: I removed it from the gun right after the fight.
- 26:28Speaker 3: I took that along with the jewels. Oh, boy, that
- 26:30Speaker 3: sure saved our lives.
- 26:31Speaker 8: Come on.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Let's get down to the receiving station. With that information,
- 26:34Speaker 3: we can round up Baccarati's spies in a few hours.
- 26:41Speaker 2: An action preview of next week's exciting adventure in just
- 26:44Speaker 2: a moment.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Hi, Space Patrollers. It's the day of the big parade
- 26:48Speaker 3: on Terra. And just about every space patroller and his
- 26:51Speaker 3: little brother have turned out to watch the fun. Man,
- 26:57Speaker 3: it sure is a swell parade. Hey, wait a minute.
- 26:59Speaker 3: What's that coming down the street now? Why, it's the
- 27:01Speaker 3: Space Patrollers Drama Bugle Tour number five. All the way
- 27:05Speaker 3: from Venus City, Venus.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Now, just listen to those supercharged bugles and hear those

- 27:20Speaker 2: their bite-sized checks today. And how about you guys? You know,
- 27:24Speaker 2: the best way in the universe to start off the
- 27:25Speaker 2: day is with a big bowl full of bite-sized dice
- 27:28Speaker 2: checks or wheat checks. because no other cereal, plate, or
- 27:32Speaker 2: pot contains so much energy in such concentrated bite-sized forms. Yes, sir,
- 27:37Speaker 2: you're packing in plenty of vitamins and minerals with every
- 27:40Speaker 2: delicious bite you take, and that means energy plus for you.

- 27:53Speaker 2: So before you march off with the day, have yourself
- 27:56Speaker 2: a better breakfast.
- 27:57Speaker 3: A real Space Patrol breakfast with.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Nice checks or weak checks.
- 28:05Speaker 3: And now, a preview of next week's exciting Space Patrol adventure.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Buzz and Happy have trapped one of Prince Baccarati's spies
- 28:12Speaker 2: in a sub-basement in Jupiter City.
- 28:17Speaker 3: It's no use, Happy. We can never break it down.
- 28:19Speaker 3: That's right, Cory. You can't escape. Sirkin's coming for my
- 28:22Speaker 3: speaker up there. Sirkin, listen to me. You listen to me.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I'm getting off this planet, Cory. Prince Baccarati tipped me
- 28:29Speaker 3: off that a guided missile has been launched toward Jupiter City.
- 28:32Speaker 3: There's nothing you can do to stop it.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Be sure to join us again next week for the
