- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by C Kick. This is episode 443.

- 0:24Reyes. Nate.
- 0:30Hello everyone. Hello.
- 0:34That's all I got for you. This is the best you're going to
- 0:39get. Late night with the boys.
- 0:44This is fun. Actually I do like the late
- 0:46night sesh. Way late for you.

- 0:52We used to do this back in the day.
- 0:54Dude, we used to do like. You would you would like edit
- 0:57until like 2:00 AM? Those were the those were rough
- 1:02nights, man, because we would have to.
- 1:04I was so I was so hard pressed about waiting until the the
- 1:11entire slate of games was over because I didn't want to miss
- 1:14anything. Because we must have been burned
- 1:16one or too many times of like a West Coast no hitter or
- 1:21something big happening. And we've we had already
- 1:23recorded. So I'm like, no, we have if when
- 1:25we record during the week, we have to wait to the end of the
- 1:28end of the slate of games to record.
- 1:30And then I'd have to record or I'd have to edit for like an
- 1:32hour. And that's back when I thought
- 1:36editing actually mattered. Now I'm just like, I'm gonna
- 1:38take our, I'm gonna take our audio, upload it.
- 1:40And the if the people don't like it, that's on them.
- 1:42That's nothing I can do. No need in cleaning it up.
- 1:46But yeah, this is a, this is a throwback for us.
- 1:48A little late night little 11:15 PM on the East Coast out here,
- 1:55and we're approaching your bedside.

- 2:35Nate already mentioned the notifications.
- 2:37That's how you're going to get them if you subscribe.
- 2:41We need the Subs. Any other housekeeping items
- 2:48before we get into what we have to talk about tonight?
- 2:52I shot an 87 on the course today and I feel pretty, pretty good
- 2:55about that. Pretty good.
- 3:00Lost one ball on hole one. That's it.
- 3:04And then it was all uphill from there.
- 3:06Downhill. Smooth sailing.
- 3:09Yeah. Proud of you.
- 3:11That's big time. Thanks.
- 3:13You had some chocolate today. Yeah.
- 3:14I did, yeah. Took a took a trip of the fam up
- 3:17to Hershey Park up in good old PA.
- 3:22Are you a milk chocolate or a dark chocolate?
- 3:24Guy so hot up there dude milk chocolate for sure I mean I
- 3:28don't discriminate against the dark chocolate I I will say my
- 3:31taste buds have evolved I'm I'm. I am proud of you for that.
- 3:35Yeah, I'm there. Like I I won't say no to it if
- 3:37it's offered to me, but I'm still a milk chocolate guy at
- 3:40heart so. Big dark chocolate guy.
- 3:42I think milk chocolate's pretty much a waste of time.
- 3:47Pretty much. A peanut.
- 3:50M and MA peanut M&M goes a long way for me though.
- 3:54That's milk chocolate. Yeah, that, that'll do it.
- 3:58But just straight up milk chocolate, like those Hershey
- 4:02kisses. Did you have some of those
- 4:03today? I actually didn't.
- 4:06I did have a Hershey bar, though.
- 4:07I mean, that's, that's standard. That's kind of, you know,
- 4:11checking the box. That's the whole like when in
- 4:15Rome thing, man, that's like getting, it's like getting pasta
- 4:18in Italy. You get a Hershey bar from
- 4:20Chocolate World at Hershey Park. That's very true.
- 4:24That's, that's your day right there.
- 4:25It's very true. But anyway, enough about
- 4:28chocolate. Let's talk about some baseball
- 4:30'cause that's what we like to do here on this show.
- 4:32Well, maybe not so much Nate as of late, 'cause my friend is my
- 4:37friend is down bad right now. I'm so pissed.
- 4:42So you. Might you might touch on that a
- 4:44little later towards the end of the episode, but before we even
- 4:47think about wrapping things up, we got we got to get into some
- 4:51some items here. We're talking Willie Mays, of
- 4:53course, Aaron Judge had a little bit of an injury scare.
- 4:58Mike Trout Speaking of injuries, shocker little behind schedule
- 5:04with with the rehab there. Grimace the streak finally ended
- 5:08tonight, but it's still I think it's still worth addressing the
- 5:12the importance and the impact that Grimace has had with the
- 5:16New York Mets. Going to talk some some Dodger
- 5:19City connects Part 2. And then, as always, we're going
- 5:24to get into some weekend weekend series to watch.
- 5:26So we get you primed up for the the weekend coming your way.
- 5:31But as I mentioned, have to have to start with the the sad,
- 5:36unfortunate news, the passing of Willie Mace.
- 5:43I feel like, I feel like this happens anytime we we lose one
- 5:46of the legends. It's, it's one of those things
- 5:51where you wish you would have that like there's almost this
- 5:58weird sense of guilt or regret that like you wish you would
- 6:01have done. At least for me.
- 6:04I'm, I'm not speaking for everybody, but I like, for me, I
- 6:06wish I would have done more to educate myself on the resume and
- 6:14the, the impact in the sport that this guy had while he was
- 6:17still with us. I I hate that I have to be that
- 6:19I'm, I'm learning about these, these deep cut Nuggets, these
- 6:23statistics, these accomplishments, these, these
- 6:27feats that he attained. I hate that I'm having to, to
- 6:31learn these things as we go following this unfortunate news.
- 6:37But on the flip side of that, you know, it's, it's, it's
- 6:43really, really cool to see how much this man is being
- 6:48celebrated across baseball. And, and I don't think, I don't
- 6:52think that's a stretch by any means.
- 6:55I, I think you, you look just about anywhere, any corner of,
- 6:59of baseball right now. And, and people are talking
- 7:01about what, how great of a player this guy was, how great
- 7:05of a man he was. I even on our trip today, I even
- 7:10before we left, I grabbed his, his autobiography off the shelf
- 7:14and I started reading that on the way up there because I was
- 7:16like, I want to get, I want to get into, into the mind of this
- 7:19guy. And, and, and even just in the
- 7:22first few pages, I'm like that. I can see why this man was so
- 7:26widely respected across baseball, but such a loss man,
- 7:33such a loss. And I hate to say, but this
- 7:36Willie Mays was one of those guys where he's just been around
- 7:40the game for so long that it got to a point where it was like is,
- 7:43is Willie Mays still with us? And you check and he's still
- 7:47kicking. I mean this man lived a long and
- 7:51and just full life 93 years old. Yeah, it's incredible.
- 7:58Yeah, I, I found myself doing that same thing.
- 8:02I don't know, like a week ago, one of our guys in the in the
- 8:05league, I think it's Matt, right, That works something with
- 8:11with baseball he's doing, he's setting everything up for for
- 8:15Rick Wood, the Rick Wood game. And I think he mentioned that
- 8:21Willie was supposed to come and I caught myself like I was like,
- 8:24hold on, is Willie still with us?
- 8:26And that was a week ago. But yeah, it's hurts, man.
- 8:32It hurts. I think it's really just like
- 8:43AAII don't like to like compare or anything like that, but like,
- 8:48I mean Hank Aaron hurt this. I don't know why this one just
- 8:52feels a little bit different. This one feels like it's just
- 8:57it's a little bit bigger. I don't I don't I don't know, no
- 9:00disrespect in any way, Just like I think it's just hitting home a
- 9:03little bit more with a lot of a lot of big baseball fans.
- 9:09I can. It is that like that like slight
- 9:12generation before. I know there's some crossover in
- 9:16there in their careers, but like I he's he's the legend dude,
- 9:25like he's, you know, there's kids literally that like are
- 9:29trying to emulate and his catch then that no, like we never got
- 9:36to watch him. You know what I mean?
- 9:37It's just like it's it's a it's a name that's timeless.
- 9:41It's going to last forever. To, to, to your point about the,
- 9:48the Hank Aaron comparison, I, I feel like I may have a thought
- 9:52as to why that is because I, I almost feel the same way.
- 9:55And again, no disrespect to Hank Aaron, obviously one of the
- 9:59greatest ever do it. But with Willie Mays, I, I think
- 10:01the difference here. And again, this is just
- 10:05speculation. This is just me thinking out
- 10:08loud. I think with Hank Aaron, there's
- 10:12this weird, I don't want to say stigma, but I think because the,
- 10:17the, the topic, the the home run king, that the conversation that
- 10:23surrounds that is so polarizing that there's this weird, I don't
- 10:29know, this weird angle that maybe people have with Hank
- 10:32Aaron and it made, it may not even be intentional.
- 10:35Maybe it's it's more of like a ricochet effect with Hank Aaron,
- 10:38where it's there they want to defend Barry Bonds so bad that
- 10:42like Hank Aaron kind of catches some strays from time to time.
- 10:46And that it's just anytime you hear Hank Aaron, you, you, you,
- 10:49your defenses go up and you're going OK.
- 10:52Like I got to, I got to be ready to defend my camp, whether it's
- 10:56Hank Aaron or Barry Bonds or or whoever else you want to put in
- 10:59that conversation. But with Willie Mays, I think
- 11:01the thing that that makes this different and the reason it
- 11:06maybe stings a little different is because this guy just all
- 11:10around like sure, he didn't have didn't have the exactly didn't
- 11:14have the home run title. Didn't you know, he's not in
- 11:17that that echelon with with Hank and and Barry Bonds, but just
- 11:22all around one truly, truly one of the best to ever do it.
- 11:26And it's like when you think Willie Mays, you're not thinking
- 11:30that same. You're not thinking along those
- 11:32lines of, of controversy or, or, or him being polarizing in in
- 11:38that way, whether well-intentioned or not.
- 11:42You just think incredible human being, incredible talent on the
- 11:49diamond. And when, when you lose a guy
- 11:53like that, it you just whether it's him or a guy like Hank
- 11:57Aaron, you, you just can't find anything negative to say about
- 12:00the guy. And it, it's, it's unfortunate
- 12:04again, like I already shared my thoughts and, and how like, I
- 12:08feel like I've had to respond where it's like, man, now I
- 12:11really he's, he's no longer with us.
- 12:14But now I feel like I, I owe it to myself to, and owe it to him
- 12:19to, to again educate myself more on, on just how good this guy
- 12:25was. But it's, it's even more
- 12:27unfortunate that, you know, there there are people that are
- 12:32younger than us with kids coming up that just, I don't even think
- 12:35have the slightest clue as to how good this guy was.
- 12:38But again, I'm always trying to find the positive and stuff like
- 12:41this. You know, whether it's dad,
- 12:43whether it's the uncle, the the older brother they had.
- 12:48They now have the opportunity now that the the celebration and
- 12:53and the it's really unfortunate, but the timing of this whole
- 12:57Rick would this game at Rick would feel like on.
- 13:00I mean, I'm, I am certain that there's going to be quite the
- 13:05celebration in store and I and I fully trust that they're going
- 13:08to have everything in place. And I think, like I said, going
- 13:11back to my point as these these younger kids are just people who
- 13:14are unfamiliar with his career. Did I mean, they now have the
- 13:18opportunity to really do a deep dive into just how good he was?
- 13:22I think there's definitely some celebrating that's going to be
- 13:27happening around this, this series, in this game.
- 13:31I I think, yeah, I mean, not to get like too negative here, but
- 13:36like we are in in this strange place in, in society.
- 13:43And I don't know if it's surrounded around social media,
- 13:46but it's like this this comparison to modern day players
- 13:52versus, you know, back then. And it's like, well, you know,
- 13:55they didn't see the same pitching back then or they
- 13:59didn't get to see the same type of arms coming out of the
- 14:01bullpen and just this back and forth.
- 14:04And it's almost like this degrading of guys that like have
- 14:09literally laid the path for why the game is what it is today
- 14:15then. And, and I think it's important
- 14:17that we, we still recognize greatness and, and not have to
- 14:23tear that down to build up our modern day, you know, amazing
- 14:28players. And it did and vice versa.
- 14:30Like, I don't think there's any reason to attack modern day
- 14:33players. It's just you can't compare guys
- 14:37across generations. It's just, it's not possible.
- 14:42But I think this there's, I've heard some chatter about maybe
- 14:46I, I think Buster only came out and said, you know, he thinks
- 14:50Willie may should be the new logo for MLBI.
- 14:54Think that there's, I mean, Can you imagine like this silhouette
- 14:57of, of the catch, like something like that?
- 15:00You know, I, I don't know that I think I think they're overall
- 15:07our, our baseball world media, everything is just going to do a
- 15:11really great job of educating. Even us, even, you know, people
- 15:17that have loved and fell in love with this game for years and
- 15:20have paid attention to as much as we can and absorbed as much
- 15:23as we can. There's just still so many
- 15:26things that we're we're not going to be able to uncover.
- 15:28I have some amazing Nuggets that I wanted to share tonight.
- 15:32I know you do too. So I think let's, let's educate.
- 15:36Let's just be a part of that, that mix of getting getting more
- 15:42of his stuff out there. Well, running through his resume
- 15:45that I alluded to just a few minutes ago in in case you're
- 15:50not familiar, just running through the basics here, but hit
- 15:53Willie Mays over the course of his career, obviously a Hall of
- 15:57Famer, two time MVP, 24 time All Star.
- 16:01And if you hear that and you go, how is that possible?
- 16:04You may not remember where he may have never heard, but this
- 16:07was back. He played it in a time when they
- 16:10had two All Star games in a season.
- 16:12So he was able to, you know it Willie Mays, I would venture to
- 16:17say probably didn't have any, any issue making it to both in a
- 16:22given year. So naturally he's going to be
- 16:23racking up those All Stars. So 24 time All Star.
- 16:27He was Rookie of the Year, was a 1954 World Series champion, was
- 16:33a batting champion and was a Major League player of the year.
- 16:37Over his career, accumulated a WAR of 156.2, had 3293 hits, had
- 16:46660 home runs, hit three O one over the course of his career,
- 16:52which by the way was 23 years, hit three O 1.
- 16:58I know, I know we talked about the home runs, you know the RB
- 17:03is even the OPS stuff like that. But to hit three O 1 over 23
- 17:11years, just just crazy. 2068 runs scored, 1909 RB is 339
- 17:20stolen bases. Again, touching on that true 5
- 17:23tool player aspect. He had a career OBP of 384,
- 17:28slugged 557 OPS of 940 and an OPS plus of 155.
- 17:36Yeah. Yeah, I did.
- 17:39I did read an article, I think it was actually Buster Oni that
- 17:43he talked about maybe him deserving more MVPS than just
- 17:50the two. And he went by like different
- 17:54years in his career where he could have won.
- 17:57And what he explained was that like back in the day, MVPS were
- 18:03the definition of that. And the voting was just a little
- 18:06bit different. It was for sure about like a
- 18:10winning ball club. It was for sure about the best
- 18:13team in baseball. And one of those players being
- 18:16like at like their leadership was for sure counted for in the
- 18:22voting. Like they, they hated to repeat
- 18:26MVPS. So there was like a lot of
- 18:29factors as to like why he didn't win more than two.
- 18:32And he actually wrote this article and went like year by
- 18:35year of what he did. And he thinks and, and Buster
- 18:38only like, you know, we, we can have our favorite writers and we
- 18:41can say what we want about writers.
- 18:43That guy knows a lot more about baseball than I think you, I or
- 18:46anyone listening right now. So for him to talk about this
- 18:49stuff, I, you know, you can kind of trust his, his opinion, but
- 18:52he talks about how like he very well thinks he could have had
- 18:55seven or eight MVPS if it was based on like today's criteria.
- 18:59Where is more stat based and less opinion based around
- 19:04leadership and the value to the team.
- 19:10I've got a lot of Nuggets. I'm going to try and not get too
- 19:14wordy for everyone. Just wanted to to screenshot
- 19:19some stuff here #1 Nugget. He is one of do do do do the no.
- 19:33He is the only player ever to have fifty home runs and 20
- 19:40triples in a season. He is.
- 19:47He had 70 extra base hits in 13 straight seasons.
- 19:53No other player has had thirteen seasons total, not just
- 19:57consecutive, ever total. You talked about the All Star
- 20:05appearances, 18 All Star as a starter, which is more than
- 20:13anyone else in history talks about guys that I brought up
- 20:18this, you know, this argument of when we talk about guys in the
- 20:21past of who they face and like what the big deal is about
- 20:24certain pitchers. But it brought up like Hall of
- 20:28Farmers that he's faced in the past.
- 20:30Warren Spahn, he had 253 played appearances against him.
- 20:35Don Drysdale 243 and he hit over 300 against both of them
- 20:42combined for three 18371 and a 596 slash line 59.
- 20:48Eight extra base hits and 31 home runs against those two guys
- 20:53face 14 Hall of Farmers overall with a 286 batting average at an
- 20:58859 OPS against Spawn Drysdale. Sandy Koufax, Robin Roberts,
- 21:05Fergie Jenkins Crazy names One of 33 members in the 3000 Hit
- 21:12club, but he is the only one with at least 3000 hits, A300
- 21:16average, 300 home runs and three hundred stolen bases splits.
- 21:24Righty versus lefty he had 3O2 average.
- 21:32No, this is at home, home and Rd. splits 3O2 average 335 home
- 21:36runs at home, three O 1 on the road with 325 home runs on the
- 21:42road. Hits 300 against righties with
- 21:48A-917-OPS3O5 with 1000 O 6 OPS versus lefties.
- 21:57Mays had at least a 300 average and a 925 OPS in every month
- 22:02except July. Mays often stepped up in big
- 22:09spots, posting a 965 career OPS in high leverage situations.
- 22:16Ranks fifth of all time. So just some amazing things that
- 22:23this man was able to do and just fun little stat Nuggets that
- 22:27really put it in her perspective on these numbers do transcend
- 22:31time and it transcends generations.
- 22:35And say what you will about competition or level of
- 22:38competition, but he did compete against some incredible players.
- 22:43And don't forget that that man served our country as well and
- 22:47missed a season and a half of time and very well could have
- 22:50passed Babe Ruth before Hank did if he didn't miss that time.
- 22:57In case you're wondering how how Willie Mays responded coming
- 23:01back as many of these guys did when they came back.
- 23:04Just lit it up. Lit it up by the way.
- 23:07Won in won in MVP the year he came back 1954, and then
- 23:11proceeded to his first year back 1954.
- 23:15Proceeded to be an All Star every season until 1972.
- 23:21So. Yeah.
- 23:25There you go. But yeah, to your point about
- 23:28the competition, that that's that's one of my biggest
- 23:31takeaways from again, I, I have so I still have so much to learn
- 23:35about Willie Mays and and what he was able to accomplish on the
- 23:38field. But that I, I have to say in, in
- 23:44the conversations I've had with people about Willie Mays and the
- 23:47things I've read, the things I've heard, watched, I have
- 23:50never, ever heard about the credibility of this guy's resume
- 23:57based on the era he played in, who he played against, or who he
- 24:03played with. Everyone agrees that the Willie
- 24:10Mays, regardless of era, was just one of the greatest talents
- 24:15this game has ever. Seen 3 decades, You know what I
- 24:18mean? Three decades from the 50s to
- 24:21the 70s and, and like, at what point are we going to just stop
- 24:27with that argument? Babe Ruth?
- 24:29Look, I understand that conversation.
- 24:32I get it. The 20s is different.
- 24:34But with what Willie was able to do the the the frontier that he
- 24:43just was able to conquer that he's he was Mike Trout before
- 24:51Mike Trout for for you young UNS.
- 24:53You know what I mean? Like he was full on the dude and
- 24:59like not that big of a guy either.
- 25:01I think I've read that he was like five 10170.
- 25:08Five, 10170. Yep.
- 25:10Flew around, just flew around and everything you did.
- 25:17Yeah, I was in in the reading I was doing kind of getting my
- 25:20thoughts together for for this episode to to talk about this.
- 25:24I was doing some some digging around and there was sort of a
- 25:29consensus among certain writers or reporters or whatever in that
- 25:38contrary to the way they feel about all the players from
- 25:42previous eras who maybe would struggle in today's game.
- 25:48Again, it seemed to be somewhat sort of a consensus that Willie
- 25:52Mays would actually hold his own today.
- 25:56Like they they were like this guy and they were talking the
- 25:59the point or the the reasoning behind that.
- 26:03That thought process was that so much of the game today has been
- 26:08crafted to support or not crafted, but has so much of the
- 26:13game today has been tweaked, I guess we could say, or designed
- 26:18to help improve the offense or support the offensive side of
- 26:24the ball, whether at the plate or on the bases.
- 26:26Could you imagine a guy like Willie Mays with the the the
- 26:29recently introduced changes to to stealing?
- 26:34I mean, what are we talking about here?
- 26:35I mean, you're, you're talking about smaller strike zones.
- 26:40You know it. Lower mound, I think a lot of
- 26:44people. Forget that was another point.
- 26:45Beginning of his career, he's facing guys that are thrown off
- 26:48of a freaking mountain man. I mean, I, like I said, I had, I
- 26:55would have no doubt that Willie Mays, if you plugged him into
- 26:58the game today, we would be, wouldn't even bat an eye.
- 27:02Fun little last nugget to drop. He was the one that he was the
- 27:07first one to win the inaugural Commissioners Award, which is
- 27:11now recognized as the Roberto Clemente Award for, you know,
- 27:16everything that they do off the field with philanthropy.
- 27:20So I think that's probably what your book is going to get into
- 27:23that like beyond these stats and and beyond the incredible ball
- 27:27player was I think the impact that he had off the field and
- 27:31his community. And like, I mean, it's still
- 27:34going to today, you know what I mean?
- 27:35Like they're about to put a nationally televised Major
- 27:38League Baseball game at a field that hasn't been touched and who
- 27:42knows how long because of him, whether he was alive or or not
- 27:48with us anymore. And so it's, it's a ripple
- 27:52effect that has open doors for so many different players.
- 27:57And I just, I feel for the Giants franchise, you know what
- 28:02I mean? This is a, this is a big one.
- 28:04And I don't know, I don't, I don't think 24 is going to get
- 28:10retired across across baseball, But I, I, I think there's going
- 28:15to be something, I think Willie is going to be forever
- 28:21memorialized in some way. I don't know how they're going
- 28:24to do it, but they're going to do it.
- 28:27And you know I. Hope they do anyway.
- 28:29Yeah, well, I was going to say, you know, we, we rag on Major
- 28:32League Baseball from time to time for just some of their lack
- 28:37of awareness or, or, or what have you.
- 28:39But I, I have no doubt that the, the right people in the room
- 28:46required to make that that kind of decision are going to make
- 28:49the right decision. And they're going to, they're
- 28:50going to do it right. Because like I said that and
- 28:53like we've like we've broken down and we didn't even really
- 28:56have to break it down. It's just kind of known around
- 28:59baseball that Willie Mays is is one of the greatest ever.
- 29:02Do it and and last. I think top three is not an
- 29:06unfair conversation at all. Not at all, not at all.
- 29:10But last thought for me and you, you kind of touched on it and
- 29:12feeling for the Giants. I feel like I, I, I already knew
- 29:17this guy was, was again, an incredible talent on the field,
- 29:20but also a great guy off the field.
- 29:22But it was in the first couple pages of that book that I was
- 29:25reading this morning that I think really put it in into
- 29:28perspective what kind of guy Willie Mays truly is.
- 29:31And he he started, there was a paragraph that I got to again
- 29:36right there in the right there towards the beginning.
- 29:39And he said something, something to the effect of, you know, when
- 29:43we, and then he put a dash and he said, just to be clear, when
- 29:48I say we throughout this book, I'm always referring to the
- 29:52Giants. And I'm like, this guy is a
- 29:56giant at heart. And it, I mean the, I think the,
- 30:01the respect that this guy had for his organization and the,
- 30:04and the respect that they had for him.
- 30:07And again, all of baseball just really speaks to the character
- 30:12of Willie Mays. That speaks to the magnitude of
- 30:17this loss. And I again, kind of bring it
- 30:23full circle here to to put a bow on it.
- 30:25I, I really hope and pray that the baseball does this right
- 30:28again. It it's terrible timing that we
- 30:33lost him this close to this game.
- 30:37I would have loved to and he he I think he's he had said that he
- 30:42wasn't going to be able to make it this year.
- 30:43I think he that was just announced like a day or two ago.
- 30:46I think their their plan was to have him in attendance, but just
- 30:50to not be able to have him with us for this game is is such a a
- 30:55huge loss. Obviously in the the time is
- 30:56terrible, but at the same time, it's it's just going to put such
- 31:02a spotlight on what they were trying to do with this game as
- 31:05well as the career of Willie May.
- 31:07So really looking forward to seeing what they do and not just
- 31:11with this game, but in throughout baseball that, like
- 31:14you mentioned, the ripple effect.
- 31:15I'd I really hope they memorialize him properly the way
- 31:21that he deserves to be. So any other thoughts before we
- 31:27move on? I, I don't, did you catch the
- 31:29radio Cubs game? That was the, I think the, the
- 31:35first guy to, I don't, I apologize for not remembering
- 31:38his name, but I think he was the first one to announce it.
- 31:42That was tough. That was a tough listen.
- 31:44It was Dave. Dave Fleming, Yeah.
- 31:46Fleming, yeah, he was. He was like, still commentating
- 31:52certain parts of the game, but you could tell that he was like,
- 31:54he was struggling. Yeah, yeah, that's a that was a
- 31:57tough clip to to hear. Yeah.
- 32:01Just a sad, sad one. Sad one.
- 32:05And what an amazing thing he was able to do for for our game.
- 32:12One of the best ever. Do it.
- 32:16Switching gears here, Aaron Judge avoided a little bit of a
- 32:25scare. You can obviously speak more to
- 32:27this, but I got to say when I when I saw this news come
- 32:31through or when I saw the, the notification, rather, I saw the,
- 32:34the video of, of the, the hit by pitch, I was like, dude, we're
- 32:38not. And I, I know, I know a Red Sox
- 32:41guy coming from a Red Sox guy. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm,
- 32:46I was sitting there like rack my brain.
- 32:48I'm like, are we really about to lose Mookie and Judge in the
- 32:53span of a week? Yeah, that would have hurt man.
- 32:56Like what is going on? Part of me still feels like
- 33:00there's I don't know. Part of me still feels like
- 33:03there's the Yankees lie, dude. They just lie about injuries.
- 33:07They've lied for years. They said nothing was wrong with
- 33:10his toe. And then all of a sudden two,
- 33:13you know, two months later, he's, you know, not who he was
- 33:16at. He's first.
- 33:19I don't know. He was for sure not available
- 33:21tonight. There were multiple pinch hit
- 33:23situations where I thought that he could have potentially, you
- 33:28know, made an impact on the game and he was just very much
- 33:31unavailable, which made me a little more nervous.
- 33:34And he he did come out and say that he wanted to play today.
- 33:38So curious to see if he plays tomorrow.
- 33:42Anyone listening on Thursday is probably just going to call us
- 33:45and, you know, call me an idiot for for not knowing, but this is
- 33:48Wednesday night, so we'll see. I don't know, man.
- 33:55It's it's a weird part of the game.
- 33:58It's not something that can really change.
- 34:01The quote that Mookie said was that you have to stay in.
- 34:05You have to stay in when when 99 rides up on your hands, but also
- 34:1192 slider tails away from you and you you still have to be
- 34:16able to reach that. Like there isn't enough time.
- 34:22We were taught growing up the whole like shoulder turn, wear
- 34:26it on the back and, and it's just, it's not really an option
- 34:29at this velocity and this amount of break that you see.
- 34:34I mean, these guys are facing stuff that it looks like it's
- 34:36coming at their face and they have to stay in.
- 34:40So it's just, it's a part of it that I don't, I don't think
- 34:43there was any intention. I, I think it's pretty obvious
- 34:45there. There's been a lot of back and
- 34:48forth hit by pitches and I, Glaber got one off the hand a
- 34:52few innings later. There's been a lot of back and
- 34:55forth with the OS and the Yanks. There's a lot of lot of
- 34:58chirping, lot of lot of stuff being built up at the moment in
- 35:04this series. But I'm just glad he's OK.
- 35:09For all we know now, hopefully he's OK.
- 35:15Yeah, you kind of you kind of touched on it, but it was dare I
- 35:20dare I use air quotes. It was confirmed that the X-ray
- 35:25and CT scan were negative, so. I don't believe any.
- 35:27I don't believe it. Because like, no, I don't and I
- 35:30don't blame you 'cause when Euriso.
- 35:32Was fine and then you know you had a concussion and it's like
- 35:35they. Just when you when you first
- 35:37started pushing that narrative, I was like, all right, that I
- 35:40mean it, they're Major League franchise.
- 35:42What are we really talking about here?
- 35:43But then like it, it was almost like week after week.
- 35:48It's like something new is popping up with the Yankees and
- 35:51an injury and it's it's not matching up.
- 35:55And then weeks past, months past even, and we find out, Oh, wait
- 35:59a minute, that injury that they said wasn't all that big of a
- 36:02deal. Oh, it's it's turned into months
- 36:06or it's turned into season ending.
- 36:08Yeah. So I I'm with you.
- 36:10I hear you and I don't I don't I don't put it past the Yankees
- 36:13anymore and I I have since adopted that that's narrative as
- 36:18well. Like when people like when I'm
- 36:19having little one off conversation with people and
- 36:21they're like, oh, like what's the deal with such and such?
- 36:23Like I'm not really I'm not really keeping up with with
- 36:26baseball the Yankees. But like I hear about such and
- 36:28such a name going down. I'm like you just wait you just
- 36:32wait to find out what actually happened with with fill in the
- 36:36blank player. But.
- 36:37We're what every and, and any Yankee fan that pretends to not
- 36:41be in this camp is a liar. We're all like, just at this
- 36:46point at like, there's so much lack of clarity and and
- 36:50transparency behind these things.
- 36:53Well, like a year or two ago, our and our more so you than me,
- 36:58but your big thing was the was the medical staff, like the
- 37:01training staff. And you're going, why are these
- 37:03like, why is this happening at such an alarming rate?
- 37:05Like why are guys pulling hammies?
- 37:08Why are guys tweaking, tweaking knees?
- 37:11But now it's evolved into, OK, clearly these things are just
- 37:16happening regardless, but why now are we not getting the
- 37:20clarity that we we deserve as fans or or whoever, like
- 37:24whatever. So strange.
- 37:26Very shady. Very.
- 37:27Shady. So strange they just hold
- 37:29everything tight to the chest and whatever close to the chest.
- 37:33But I it's gotten to the point where it's frustrating.
- 37:38I'm over it. I'm just glad he's all right.
- 37:41For all we know he's all right. I guess we'll see.
- 37:46Well, a guy that's who really knows whether he's all right.
- 37:52Mike Trout got the update. The least surprising update
- 37:59ever. After his surgery last month, if
- 38:06he if you're not remembering, he had a tormeniscus in his his
- 38:11left knee. He now has said that it's not
- 38:20going as planned. The rehab's not going as
- 38:22planned. The recovery is a little behind
- 38:25schedule. And yeah, like you said, the
- 38:29most I feel like that I like 2024 has been the season of
- 38:33predictable headlines. Major League Baseball clearing
- 38:36Ohtani of any and all of any and all charges.
- 38:39Mike Trout behind schedule with his with his recovery process.
- 38:43I mean, like, like, what's next, the Red Sox or A500 baseball
- 38:49team? I mean, like, these are just
- 38:51things we know. These are things we know.
- 38:57I, I mentioned this right after the injury that the 'cause I
- 39:00tore my meniscus and I had the conversation with the surgeon
- 39:03like it's either you scoop it out and, and you're in your back
- 39:09to normal in a couple months and it's risking long term.
- 39:14Can you, can you give a little insight there when you say scoop
- 39:17it out, like what are we really talking about?
- 39:19Here, I mean, it's, it's a tendon, like it's, it's a
- 39:21tendon. So they're just taking it like
- 39:23it's, it's, it's a tendon that's, you know, kind of
- 39:27separating the joints. Like it sits in the middle and
- 39:30like if it's gone, it's gone. Then you're just at that point,
- 39:33they'll inject some stuff to like give it a little bit of
- 39:37some buffer in between. But once that wears down, you're
- 39:40just bone on bone. So if it, if it's torn, like you
- 39:45may not know the answer to this, but you would know better than I
- 39:48would. If it's torn, do you then have
- 39:51to like sever it at the other end and then scoop it out?
- 39:55Is that what you're saying? Like is there like a a full on
- 39:57like removal process there? They just scrape it out, dude.
- 40:02They just scrape it out. And then there's stuff like in
- 40:04between and I'm not, I'm not a doctor, so like I can't, but
- 40:08this is the conference. I literally had this surgery.
- 40:10So they said that like we're going to you can either scoop it
- 40:13out and your recovery is like two to three months and you're
- 40:18and you're good to go. But like, you know, 10 years
- 40:21down the road, you're most, most likely going to have arthritis
- 40:24or you repair it, but you it takes longer for that to heal
- 40:29because they suture it back together and it just has to
- 40:33heal. So like.
- 40:35When you say when you say repair, you mean?
- 40:36Surgery, right? Like that surgery is like, well,
- 40:40either way, there's a surgery involved whether they take it
- 40:42out or suture it, but like it, it takes recovery.
- 40:47And I, I wore this like immobilizer from my ankle to my
- 40:50hip. And it had like the joints on
- 40:53the side of the knee that they would slowly unlock so I could
- 40:56get more movement to the point. And I remember being like six
- 41:00weeks after surgery, I was finally able to be like 90°.
- 41:04But at that point, like, I'm still crutching around like, and
- 41:07I'm not saying I have like everything at my disposal that
- 41:11Mike Trout does with trainers and rehab.
- 41:13And it's all day that you're doing this as a professional
- 41:16athlete. But it just comes down to
- 41:20whether it was repaired or scooped out, man.
- 41:22And if that thing was just taken out, then yeah, he probably
- 41:25could be back this year. But I genuinely don't see him
- 41:29coming back if it was just repaired And like, it's your.
- 41:34I don't think people understand like what your need is able to
- 41:37do planting, turning, twisting, all those things that like a
- 41:43baseball player has to do while hitting, while base running,
- 41:46while throwing, like these are all an issue.
- 41:50So like I, I can't imagine him coming back this year and I at
- 41:57best you're going to see like these pointless a BS in August
- 42:00where the angels are 15 games back and it's like it doesn't
- 42:04mean anything. And that's probably what it's
- 42:07going to get to. Which sucks because like I'm I
- 42:13am sick of this and I'd love to see him do his thing but.
- 42:20The last time we talked about this, what did I say?
- 42:22I, I don't even remember. It was something like just I, I
- 42:27don't necessarily know if I had thoughts on the way I would like
- 42:30to see this year finish for him like as a fan, as a Mike Trout
- 42:33fan and just a, a baseball fan in general.
- 42:36But looking ahead to 2025 or or really like if, if something
- 42:41injury wise is in store, God forbid for him in 2025, then
- 42:462026 whenever this time comes, I just want to see like a we we
- 42:55just need like a 75% games completed season for Mike Trout,
- 43:02just like at at at full health, minimal injury and then throw in
- 43:07like, you know, a a stint on the IL for 1/4 of the season.
- 43:13I don't know. It's 121 games if anyone's
- 43:16wondering. That's 75%.
- 43:17Well, I know we've, I know we've looked at this before, but
- 43:21what's, what's the, you said 121 a. 121.5.
- 43:28The last time he played 100 and OK, well, give me give me 2022
- 43:35Mike Trout. He played 119 games.
- 43:38If we can get back, if we can get that, like 120 would be just
- 43:42a nice clean round Number. But if you can give me 100 and
- 43:46119 games, 499 played appearances, like great.
- 43:52That's that 'cause that's what he had.
- 43:54He had a hundred. He played 119 games, 499 played
- 43:57appearances, 438 ABS and he put up 40 jacks that year.
- 44:03I'm not saying any 40 jacks, but like I'm looking more at the
- 44:07games at full health. That's that's that's all I need.
- 44:11I don't care what the numbers look like.
- 44:13I mean, I would hope that they would be Mike Trout esque, but
- 44:16as he gets older, as his body continues to deteriorate, we
- 44:20know, we know we're not going to get that.
- 44:22That's the biggest thing though, you know what I'm saying?
- 44:24Well. Just that's what I'm.
- 44:25Saying of like it, it's, it's muscle atrophy.
- 44:29It's like your quad, your hamstring, your calf, your hip
- 44:33like and now that all affects your lower back it like you're
- 44:36oblique. It now starts to be coming in
- 44:38the picture like all of those things are a ripple effect of
- 44:42that area not being taken care of.
- 44:45And that's what I'm saying just get like before, before it's too
- 44:48late because you know that his, his body is just kind of, I
- 44:51mean, I don't want to say like shrivel up, but it's just going
- 44:54to deteriorate to the point where there's just nothing
- 44:57really left. And it's going to be sad.
- 44:59But he's he's I truly believe he's not there yet.
- 45:02So whether it's next year, 2026, probably not 2027, but just like
- 45:09one of the next coupled a few years, just one more season.
- 45:14Give me those 119 games, Mike. We need one more year because I
- 45:18can't I can't keep watching, you know, 36 games in 20/21/82 and
- 45:2420/23/29 this year. Like I, I just, I, I can't do it
- 45:31anymore. We need one more before you go
- 45:33out because people just need one last look at the guy that we
- 45:40were dubbing as one of the greatest, if not the greatest
- 45:43ever. Do it robbed.
- 45:44We're robbed. Robbed of it, man robbed of it.
- 45:49But we'll see. We will see.
- 45:54I think you know what time it is.
- 45:57Oh boy, OK. I think you know what time it
- 46:01is. Name that player.
- 46:08Hall of Fame. No Hall of Fame.
- 46:12Active, not active. Did he play for more than one
- 46:20team? He did not one team.
- 46:23AO or NL? NL.
- 46:26East. No.
- 46:30Central. Central.
- 46:34OK, And now Central, Cardinals, Cubs, Pirates.
- 46:41What do we have left? One of my blanking Reds.
- 46:49He's not active first baseman. Yes, at one point.
- 47:09I didn't get enough questions off.
- 47:11You definitely did not. This is going to be the biggest
- 47:14shot in the dark. A Reds retired player not in the
- 47:22Hall of Fame at one point was a first baseman but played for one
- 47:30team the whole time. What?
- 47:43What? I don't even know a Red that was
- 47:48only a Red and isn't a Hall of Famer.
- 48:02This is on you buddy. I I can't give you any more
- 48:05help. You're really putting some time
- 48:18into this. I I appreciate the effort.
- 48:21I don't know. I don't know.
- 48:24I don't know if he, if he played first base at all.
- 48:27Pete Rose. I don't know how to answer this
- 48:34question. Technically yes, technically no.
- 48:37The answer is Pete Rose Junior. Did you know there was a Pete
- 48:43Rose Junior? No, but I think I get a half a
- 48:47point. That's what I.
- 48:48Think I mean, I'll give you a half a point, but I I gave you
- 48:52this impossible task of guessing Pete Rose junior only as a as a
- 48:55segue to bring to attention or or or bring to light the fact
- 49:01that there's a Pete Rose junior. I had no clue, but I saw it.
- 49:05I saw it. I don't even remember how I came
- 49:09across it. Be honest with you.
- 49:10It it was some one of those like random like MLB historical video
- 49:16accounts, I think, or whatever. And it was something I don't, I
- 49:19don't know what the day was marking, but it was just a
- 49:22random clip of Pete Rose in the crowd cheering on Pete Rose
- 49:26Junior after he got his first hit in Cincinnati.
- 49:29I I legitimately had no idea. And I know there's probably a
- 49:32bunch of people going, yeah, of course we know Pete Rose had a
- 49:35son named Pete Rose Junior. But.
- 49:36I don't I. Didn't know we Floyd.
- 49:38Whoever says that, I don't believe them.
- 49:43Well, OK, so get this. He wore 14 for the Reds and
- 49:54played in 11 games. Had 16 plate appearances and
- 50:03accumulated a WAR of -.3. Hit 143 in 1997.
- 50:11It's a cute story. That's what that was.
- 50:15That's what that was, an OPS plus of 6.
- 50:25I mean, hey, look, we're not we're not going for for Hall of
- 50:30Fame caliber players every time on this on this segment.
- 50:33Like what fun would that be? Like I'm giving you, I'm giving
- 50:36you the answers to the questions you asked me.
- 50:38But some of them, some of them are gonna be a little more
- 50:39challenging. Than I did Dad.
- 50:41Did Dad play for other teams? I I couldn't remember.
- 50:45That's what I was blanking on. Yeah, he played.
- 50:50Why am I blanking? Played with the Expos.
- 50:53He played with the Expos and the Phillies.
- 50:55That's what I was gonna say. I thought he was a Philly at one
- 50:56point. Yeah, so that that goes against
- 51:00my answers or or the answers to the questions that you're
- 51:04asking. So like, no, he Pete Rose.
- 51:07Dad did play for more than one team.
- 51:10But when you said Pete Rose, I'm like, yes and no.
- 51:14Like you're you're kind of there.
- 51:16You're kind of there. Speaking of being kind of there,
- 51:21are the Mets kind of there now that Grimace is at the helm?
- 51:26Like this is one of the the more random slash interesting slash
- 51:33arbitrary stories we've seen come across the desk in some
- 51:36time. Tell the people what the hell
- 51:39you're talking about if you. Yeah, So if you have literally
- 51:42no clue as to what I'm talking about, Grimace the, the beloved,
- 51:46well, maybe not so beloved. I, I, I think a lot of people
- 51:49would, would, I, I would venture say that a lot of people would,
- 51:51would chalk up Grimace as maybe a little more underrated as a,
- 51:55as a McDonald's character. No free ads, but I don't think
- 51:57McDonald's needs any help. Grimace threw out the first
- 52:01pitch at the Mets game, give or take a week ago.
- 52:05I think technically eight games ago.
- 52:06The streak did end tonight, but prior to what's today,
- 52:11Wednesday, prior to Wednesday night's game?
- 52:13Well, it's technically Thursday here on the East Coast. 12 O
- 52:154:00 AM. Prior to Wednesday night's game,
- 52:19the Mets were seven and O in their Grimace ERA and their
- 52:24self-proclaimed Grimace era. And people were wondering, did
- 52:31Grimace save the Mets? To which I, I told you that when
- 52:37the Rangers beat the the Mets tonight, their, their post game
- 52:42like final score graphic was not the night Grimace.
- 52:44And I was like, you know, I just, I love when teams buy in,
- 52:48you know, even even the opponents.
- 52:49I love, I love when teams run a league.
- 52:51Just buy into what the people are talking about.
- 52:54I absolutely love it. Couple notes here.
- 52:58I think that just because I'm here for the pettiness, I would
- 53:04love for somebody to bring out the Hamburglar, you know?
- 53:10Absolutely. Can we like, let's get the let's
- 53:14get the competitive juices flowing.
- 53:15If the Yankees did that, I think I would.
- 53:20Oh, that'd be awesome. I mean, I gotta go team Grimace.
- 53:22Like I I can't stand the Mets, but well, here's Grimace is AG
- 53:27dude. I mean, just look at him.
- 53:29I mean that if if he if you looked up the phrase just
- 53:33happened to be here in the dictionary, you're finding a
- 53:35picture of grimace on that page. I mean, the guy is just what?
- 53:40Value did Grimace bring to the gang.
- 53:48Can you name the other one? Some.
- 53:49Great milkshakes. Ronald McDonald's obviously in
- 53:53there. Ronald McDonald, Hamburglar
- 53:55Grimace. There was that.
- 53:59There was like one girl character, wasn't there?
- 54:03She had a funny looking face I think.
- 54:06Wow. Well.
- 54:08No, I'm not making that up. Here are here you are sticking
- 54:11up for the purple BLOB. Yeah, she looked like a duck or
- 54:16something. Where is it?
- 54:20What is that? What is that crew called?
- 54:27The Happy Meal gang or McDonald Land Gang?
- 54:31I'm seeing all sorts of options here I.
- 54:34Don't like either of those? Yeah, I don't like them either.
- 54:39The Ronald McDonald Gang. Also, did you see what is his?
- 54:43Name. Throughout the first pitch, he
- 54:45had the wrong glove on. I did see that, yeah.
- 54:48It's like buddy. That's that's a tough look.
- 54:50Wrong glove on the wrong hand. And like the I would imagine
- 54:55that was, by the way, the, the girl's name, Birdie, the early
- 54:59bird officer, Big Mac Hamburglar, Mayor, Oh, Mayor
- 55:05Mccheese, how can I forget? Mayor Mccheese, Mayor Mccheese,
- 55:10the whole, the whole gang's here.
- 55:13But yeah, the whole the grimace glove thing.
- 55:15Obviously he had that for that specific occasion.
- 55:20Like he's not just picking up Pete Alonzo's glove off the
- 55:23bench to go out and throw the first pitch.
- 55:25Like that's a large glove. And the fact that they couldn't
- 55:30even kind of get that figured out for him, it's like, hey, let
- 55:35us know what handedness you are and we'll get the right glove
- 55:40for you. They were just like, no, we're
- 55:41just going to make this generic glove and you're going to go out
- 55:43there and look like an idiot. Although it's tough for Grimace
- 55:45to look like an idiot because like I said, he's just chilling.
- 55:48He he ain't bothering nobody. It's a met thing.
- 55:51It's a met thing to do to the guy.
- 55:54Yeah, very. I think this, this really put
- 55:57Grimace back on the map #1 #2 I think we all just need to need
- 56:04to reflect our respect that we that we have for McDonald's.
- 56:09I'm a big McDonald's guy. You want me to?
- 56:12You want me to shed some light on this to you.
- 56:14Your two points there put Grimace back on the back, back
- 56:18on the map and giving some love to McDonald's.
- 56:21Can you do me a favor? Right quick, right quick.
- 56:24Pull up Twitter, go to McDonald's account right now.
- 56:27Tell me what you see. Wow, what are?
- 56:30We tell me they're not on board. McDonald's in the Steve Cohen
- 56:42met lid. They've bought in.
- 56:47McDonald's has. They have bought in.
- 56:50The ball with his signature grimace.
- 56:55I'm telling you dude, Grimace is is back.
- 57:00I'm about it, dude, for a while. That's what I'm saying.
- 57:07I saw, I saw people clamoring for him to take over the helm of
- 57:10the, the managerial seat and I, I couldn't couldn't agree more.
- 57:17I. Mean what do you got to lose?
- 57:19What do you have to lose? Put Grimace in the manager seat,
- 57:24See how things work out for you. I'd say they've been working out
- 57:26pretty well. You're seven and one in your
- 57:28last eight and now I'd venture to say that.
- 57:32To the caption Mets go Let's. Oh, the bio yeah.
- 57:37I'm thinking, I'm thinking Grimace is a known idiot, that's
- 57:43why the glove was on the wrong hand.
- 57:47Is that a part of this? That's a great point.
- 57:49Yeah, I didn't even consider that.
- 57:51Yeah. Known idiot doesn't know how to
- 57:54put on a glove. You're exactly.
- 57:55Yeah, that was way over my that completely missed that.
- 57:58That's on me. He's not all there, you know.
- 58:01That's on me. That's on me.
- 58:04The header pick? That's huge.
- 58:08That's, I mean, that's a McDonald's Patrick Starr if I've
- 58:11ever seen it. Yeah.
- 58:13What is that? What do you, what do you think
- 58:15he promoted to kids back in the day?
- 58:17Obesity. What is this?
- 58:19Oh, he was all about the milk. Oh, he at least he's a milkshake
- 58:22guy. He's the he's the milkshake man.
- 58:31All about all about the shakes. I'm giving them.
- 58:33Promote the kids obesity. That's terrible.
- 58:37Yeah. No, I mean, you're right.
- 58:38You're right. You're not wrong.
- 58:40You're not wrong. All right.
- 58:44We've we've given our our due respect to Grimace.
- 58:47I'm giving them a follow for sure.
- 58:49Let's go, Let's go, Mcdick's. Well, that's not what it's
- 58:53called. We've given our due respect to
- 58:57Grimace, but are you prepared to give your due respect to the
- 59:01Dodgers? New City connects.
- 59:04No. No, I didn't think so.
- 59:06Pop tarts gives me pop tarts vibes.
- 59:09I. Did you see my I know you saw
- 59:11my, my DIRECTV tweet, right? Please hold.
- 59:19Go to my replies and you'll see it.
- 59:22Scroll down. Scroll down a bit.
- 59:24Oh well, this is weird. I'm just looking at my face on
- 59:28your page while we're recording live.
- 59:31Yep, Scroll down to the the infographic that they put out on
- 59:37the jerseys. Like with all the details, Look
- 59:40at the look at the word mark on the jersey and then look at the
- 59:43DIRECTV logo. Tell me it's not identical.
- 59:47That's the same logo and I saw somebody said, which I don't
- 59:55know this is true, but somebody said DIRECTV headquarters is
- 59:58like 30 minutes from Dodger Stadium.
- 1:00:00I don't know if that's true, but that's, I mean, that's just
- 1:00:03lazy. If that's if that's the case, I
- 1:00:05mean, what are we doing? Yeah, what are, what are they
- 1:00:08saying here? Typeface inspired by signage at
- 1:00:14La Memorial Coliseum, our original home in LA.
- 1:00:18While the contrail and upward trajectory speak to our city's
- 1:00:22pursuit for the beyond what are we what?
- 1:00:26This is just the most vague, ridiculous.
- 1:00:30It's buzz buzzword word salad. It's.
- 1:00:34So bad it's not. It doesn't even.
- 1:00:40It doesn't have any substance. Why is so?
- 1:00:43No one's talking about the pop tarts.
- 1:00:45What? What's the pop tart darts dots
- 1:00:47for? Yeah, I mean, it's it literally
- 1:00:50looks like a lightly toasted strawberry pop Tart.
- 1:00:53The best thing on here is the hashtag ITFDB for Vin Scully.
- 1:00:59It's time for Dodger baseball. Yeah, but.
- 1:01:03Even that's lazy, man. Like that's such an easy win for
- 1:01:06the Dodgers. I'll just slap, just slap.
- 1:01:08It's time for Dodgers baseball in there.
- 1:01:09We'll we'll, we'll make him happy.
- 1:01:11I'd. Rather see Vin Scully's face on
- 1:01:13these things. Than put put Vin Scully's face
- 1:01:16right on the PEC, the number below it and call it a day.
- 1:01:20Yeah, what's up with the number being on the shoulder?
- 1:01:22What is that? That's not even baseball.
- 1:01:25It's. Absurd.
- 1:01:26And I know, I know. If you're listening, you're
- 1:01:28going, oh boy, another city connect for Kyle and Nate to
- 1:01:32complain. About, well, like just just.
- 1:01:33Do normal things like stop. Look, I know we're we're always
- 1:01:39talking about like think outside the box.
- 1:01:40No, I don't hate the hat, but look, I, I know we're always
- 1:01:43saying like, think outside the box, but like, don't just
- 1:01:48trample the box and then move to something else.
- 1:01:53You know, like stay within the realm of the box.
- 1:01:56Like stay at least stay in the same room as the box or even the
- 1:02:01same house as the box. But you know, stay within those
- 1:02:08boundaries a little bit. But I get it that they're all
- 1:02:11about the, the seeking, the the beyond, whatever that means.
- 1:02:15But yeah, the hash, the hats, the hats, not bad.
- 1:02:18But yeah, Pop tarts all the way. And then the last name under the
- 1:02:21under the number on the back. No, although it was brought to
- 1:02:27my attention this weekend and, and, and one of again, one of
- 1:02:30those things that I feel like you should know, but you just
- 1:02:32maybe don't because you don't really think about it.
- 1:02:35But I saw somebody post a graphic for softball and they're
- 1:02:38like, I finally figured or no, no, it wasn't softball, it was
- 1:02:41WNBA, they said. I finally figured out why the
- 1:02:44names, the last names on the back of the jersey are under the
- 1:02:46numbers. It's because so many of them
- 1:02:49have long hair and that you wouldn't be able to see read the
- 1:02:51name on the back of the jersey. I said, OK, well, that makes
- 1:02:54sense. But not in baseball.
- 1:02:57We're not dealing with ponytails at an alarming amount in Major
- 1:03:03League Baseball. So.
- 1:03:05The the pants have the pop tart thing going on too.
- 1:03:09I mean, are you surprised? Here's the real question.
- 1:03:16Here's the real question. Also for the picture of Will
- 1:03:19Smith, Freddy and Ohtani, you you couldn't get them the same
- 1:03:23belt. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:03:27Know there's three different Blues going on there.
- 1:03:30Well, that's just a cross baseball guy.
- 1:03:32The eyes just wear whatever belts they want.
- 1:03:33I don't know if you've noticed that.
- 1:03:34That's not a fan of that. That's the thing it.
- 1:03:37I'm not a fan of that. Little tangent here, if you if
- 1:03:40you like watching baseball on a regular basis, I just shattered
- 1:03:43the glass for you. Next time you watch, look at the
- 1:03:45belts around the diamond. It needs to be addressed.
- 1:03:48You'll be surprised how many belt, how many different belts
- 1:03:50you see. Here's the real question though.
- 1:03:54To kind of put a ball on this and we got to get out of here.
- 1:03:58These jerseys or the original lowest Dodgers?
- 1:04:02Jerseys, I guess these 'cause there's like this was like some
- 1:04:09effort. Fair, Yeah.
- 1:04:12The other one was like, I'm pretty sure you do this on like
- 1:04:16on your Mexican heritage day. Yeah, I legitimately think that
- 1:04:21was the thing. Yeah, yeah, I I don't get it.
- 1:04:26But enough about that. Every time a new city connect
- 1:04:29comes around or the topic comes around, I try to decrease the
- 1:04:32amount of time we talk about it every time.
- 1:04:34So hopefully we get it down to like 60 seconds.
- 1:04:37I'm cool. With that, by the end of this
- 1:04:39whole chapter of baseball, 'cause I'm over it Weekend
- 1:04:42series watch. What do you got?
- 1:04:45I don't want to. But you're going to.
- 1:04:49I don't want to. I hate my team right now.
- 1:04:54Tonight was tough dude. I'm I'm hurting.
- 1:04:58We got Braves going to New York, face off the Yankees, three-game
- 1:05:03set starting Friday. Again, I chose an Apple TV game.
- 1:05:10I don't know. Yeah, what's up with that, man?
- 1:05:12It's a weird streak going. I don't want to talk.
- 1:05:14About these free trials only last two months, dude.
- 1:05:16Like we got to, we got to wrap this up soon.
- 1:05:19I know that's not the right game.
- 1:05:23I have to click on this one. It's Carlos Rodon going against
- 1:05:26Chris Sale. I think that might be the one to
- 1:05:28tap into this. Is in New York, by the way.
- 1:05:31It's in New York, Stroman against Morton on Saturday and
- 1:05:36Sunday we got Waldrip going against Nesta.
- 1:05:40I vote that you watch on Friday and sign up for Apple TVI guess
- 1:05:49I'm so sorry I'm costing you money at this point and I'm
- 1:05:52sorry for recommending this team.
- 1:05:54That sucks right now and no one's healthy.
- 1:05:59I mean, look, we don't have a great sleight of games.
- 1:06:01I'll be honest, this weekend you're it's a rough weekend.
- 1:06:04Yeah. You're usually the one to shoot
- 1:06:06down just about every weekend of games.
- 1:06:08And I try to find like a couple gems here and there, but they're
- 1:06:10really it's just not. Not a great.
- 1:06:13Not great matchups this weekend. We do have the the LA series but
- 1:06:17nobody really cares about that. If we're being honest, I don't
- 1:06:20even think the LA fan like either team really cares about
- 1:06:22it. Ren Heefo going up against Jason
- 1:06:25Hayward. Like what?
- 1:06:29It's just an opportunity for them to fight in the parking
- 1:06:31lot. That's that's really all this is
- 1:06:35for me. I wait.
- 1:06:37Did you give all three or just Friday's game?
- 1:06:39All three. I moved pretty quick.
- 1:06:42I didn't even catch that I got I got so fixated on Friday.
- 1:06:46Friday, Friday, Friday is Rodon Chris Sale, Saturday was Charlie
- 1:07:00Morgan and Marcus Stroman, Sunday's Nestor and Waldrop.
- 1:07:05That's right for me. I'm going to have my eye on this
- 1:07:09Royals Rangers series. As of right now, we don't have
- 1:07:14updated starters for the Royals on updated starter for the
- 1:07:18Royals on Friday. So right now we have undecided
- 1:07:22going up against Nathan Niavaldi on again Friday, eight O 5
- 1:07:27that's Eastern. Saturday we've got Brady Singer
- 1:07:34versus Dane Dunning, 44 O 5:00 PM Eastern on Saturday and then
- 1:07:40Sunday, Sunday we've got Alec Marsh versus John Gray, 2:35 PM
- 1:07:46Eastern. So not exactly the greatest
- 1:07:48pitching matchups, but I feel like as of late, the last few
- 1:07:51weeks we've been giving you some pretty good pitching matchups.
- 1:07:53So maybe maybe pay more attention to the offensive.
- 1:07:57I think we're. Here to just say that you need
- 1:07:58to be paying attention to the Royals.
- 1:08:00The Royals are just making their tour around the United States,
- 1:08:04and they're just awakening a lot of people that they're good at
- 1:08:07baseball. Well, they're not awakening me
- 1:08:10because I was already on board with the Royals before the
- 1:08:12season even started, before the first pitch of the season was
- 1:08:14even thrown. I knew they were a good team and
- 1:08:17you can go back and listen. So I'm not making that up.
- 1:08:20Receipts, are there? You got anything else from
- 1:08:25people before we get out of here?
- 1:08:35I'm heading to the beach this weekend.
- 1:08:37We're heading to the beach with some friends.
- 1:08:38So we're going to be there for four days.
- 1:08:41So next time we're working this weekend.
- 1:08:43So yeah, sorry, sounds boring. Sorry.
- 1:08:47But we should be back Sunday, though.
- 1:08:49Should be back Sunday. I bought the frozen banana
- 1:08:52slices, the Reese's banana slices.
- 1:08:57Have you heard of those? Yeah, I have not, but that
- 1:08:59sounds like credible. It sounds great.
- 1:09:01I it's a miss. I think it's it's a miss.
- 1:09:05I know it's the texture is is a little weird.
- 1:09:08We're talking like official Reese's, like branded frozen
- 1:09:13strawberries covered or bananas bananas.
- 1:09:16Bananas, yeah. It's just a weird texture.
- 1:09:19It's it's it's hard to explain. So if you see them, I wouldn't
- 1:09:25recommend them, to be honest. So now they're just sitting in
- 1:09:28my freezer and they're probably going to be there A.
- 1:09:31While that's a tough, that's a tough, that's a tough way to end
- 1:09:34the week. Yeah, that's my closing
- 1:09:36thoughts. So good stuff everyone.
- 1:09:38Thanks for showing up. Thanks for hanging out with us
- 1:09:40tonight. All you people that are live

- 1:09:48out with us. Subscribe on YouTube.
- 1:09:50Do all those things and don't go chasing curveballs.
- 1:09:53We love you all as always. Looking forward to talking more
- 1:09:55baseball with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
