- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Night.
- 0:04Speaker 2: You're listening to tech Talk Radio and you're gonna learn
- 0:07Speaker 2: a lot.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:12Speaker 3: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Seanda Weird, and.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm justin leme.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Oh good to see everybody. Uh, how's everybody doing? Like
- 0:19Speaker 2: you survived Valentine's Day?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Look at that we did? Yeah we did? I think
- 0:25Speaker 1: you did.
- 0:26Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Wait wait it was Valentine's Day. Oh my god. Oh no,
- 0:30Speaker 1: You're just gonna kill me.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Between work and the flu going to our house, I
- 0:36Speaker 3: don't think we even noticed it was Valentine's Day.
- 0:38Speaker 1: To be honest, Yeah, you still you sound like you
- 0:40Speaker 1: still have a little bit of that cold too.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Hang out. It's yeah, I can definitely tell I'm still
- 0:44Speaker 3: congested a little bit, like I'm a little horse. It's
- 0:46Speaker 3: been Caitlyn got sick, I got sick, Max got sick,
- 0:49Speaker 3: Kitlen got sick Max. It was just a rotating Yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 3: it's it's been going around our community. There are schools
- 0:56Speaker 3: that closed because over sixty percent of the class was
- 0:59Speaker 3: out sick.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 1:01Speaker 3: So it's it's definitely going around this area pretty hard
- 1:04Speaker 3: right now.
- 1:04Speaker 4: You know Valentine's Day for me, I just I never
- 1:06Speaker 4: believed in Valentine's Day, right, I think it wasn't it?
- 1:09Speaker 4: What is?
- 1:09Speaker 3: It?
- 1:10Speaker 1: Wasn't Valentine's Day a manufactured holiday.
- 1:12Speaker 3: It's all Hallmark Holiday.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and they you know, Hallmark has like twelve hundred
- 1:18Speaker 2: skews plus of different greeting cards for Valentine's Day, you know,
- 1:23Speaker 2: l gift bags, gift gift wrap cards, the whole bed.
- 1:26Speaker 2: We always like to share when we get like a
- 1:29Speaker 2: new piece of technology. Sean, you decided to go ahead
- 1:32Speaker 2: and buy some tech.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I decided to buy that printer for myself.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Oh so it's not okay, So it's not a printer.
- 1:39Speaker 2: It's a scanner.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Sorry, it's a scanner. It looks like a printer because
- 1:43Speaker 3: it's a printer. It scans photos. It's I haven't got
- 1:48Speaker 3: it plugged in yet. I did open the box. But
- 1:51Speaker 3: I'm excited to get it. But we talked about it.
- 1:54Speaker 3: It's the same one than Andy talked about about a
- 1:56Speaker 3: month ago. Its steeps and Fast Phototo Fast Photo six
- 2:00Speaker 3: hundred or something sixt eighty. Yeah, I'm excited to get
- 2:02Speaker 3: it because I've got a ton of the four by
- 2:06Speaker 3: sixes that didn't have negatives with them from my family's archive.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Wow.
- 2:10Speaker 3: So I can now just pack in about sixty to
- 2:13Speaker 3: seventy photos and let it just go scan scan.
- 2:16Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 2:17Speaker 3: If you're doing them, it's gonna cycle through. If you
- 2:19Speaker 3: do them at three.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Hundred DEPI I mean, it's super fast. If you do
- 2:23Speaker 2: them at six hundred, I mean it's a little slower,
- 2:25Speaker 2: but it's still better than lifting up the flatbed, you know,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and putting them on there and then having to resize them.
- 2:32Speaker 2: The software does it all. I even took I don't
- 2:35Speaker 2: know why, but my family from Burma, they would do photos,
- 2:39Speaker 2: but they were like thumbnails almost. I mean they were
- 2:41Speaker 2: like stamps and uh, that's the size of the photos.
- 2:45Speaker 2: You put them in an album and I'd had to
- 2:48Speaker 2: take them out of the album. But I got a
- 2:50Speaker 2: bunch of those and I scan them with the EPSOM
- 2:53Speaker 2: Fast Photo and they handled it without jamming or anything.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It was really cool.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I'm excited to do it. It's just gonna get the
- 3:00Speaker 3: project finished because that's all that I've left. Anything that
- 3:03Speaker 3: had negatives or positives that I scanned, It all done
- 3:07Speaker 3: right now. It's all categorized by at least what I
- 3:09Speaker 3: know by year or what information was provided to me
- 3:12Speaker 3: by my family, And I've just got to go from
- 3:15Speaker 3: the sixties all the way up through the early to
- 3:18Speaker 3: the mid two thousands.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So are you gonna do the Maida data because you
- 3:22Speaker 2: can put the Maida data in just I will be
- 3:25Speaker 2: put like.
- 3:25Speaker 3: I'm going to be sorting it by year and then
- 3:29Speaker 3: by event hopefully like this is what I think the
- 3:31Speaker 3: event is and some of the people that are in them, right,
- 3:35Speaker 3: But with some of the software, you can photo tag that.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I'm going to dump them into Google Drive and Google Photos,
- 3:42Speaker 3: which will then tag the people that have already tagged
- 3:45Speaker 3: in other albums with my family's archive, and it should
- 3:48Speaker 3: populate the same use the same data already existing. This
- 3:51Speaker 3: is a project that I've been working on since twenty nineteen.
- 3:53Speaker 3: You guys have kind of been following along the whole time.
- 3:55Speaker 3: So it's it's it's weird that it's taken five years,
- 3:58Speaker 3: but it's just a lot of work.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're preserving it for the future generations because oh.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's are they paying you for this?
- 4:06Speaker 3: They bought me, like they bought me the the Wolverine
- 4:09Speaker 3: film scanner. They bought me the epsent flatbed scanner. So
- 4:12Speaker 3: they bought all that equipment for me knowing that it
- 4:14Speaker 3: was gonna take me time.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Good, Yeah, at least at least you're not just having
- 4:18Speaker 4: to like invest for like no return. Besides, you know,
- 4:21Speaker 4: obviously you know archiving this stuff.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But yeah, the.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Return, the return for me is seeing my family enjoyed
- 4:27Speaker 3: the pictures.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Some years ago, we used to have a place out
- 4:29Speaker 2: here called Flickos and they had a super eight millimeter
- 4:34Speaker 2: camera projector rig and I took one of my eight
- 4:36Speaker 2: millimeter films in and I had a transfer. And it's
- 4:39Speaker 2: great because I have it. It's not the best looking thing.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And now I understand, like our buddy Mitch, Mitch Goldstone
- 4:45Speaker 2: who is at scan my photos. They have an eight
- 4:48Speaker 2: millimeter film scanner. But what it doesn't frame by by frame.
- 4:52Speaker 2: So it will take a frame of that eight millimeter film,
- 4:56Speaker 2: you know, scan it, then another frame, then another frame
- 4:59Speaker 2: and it photo correct, city color correct. It does all
- 5:02Speaker 2: this amazing work. I'm I'm wondering now VHS is a
- 5:05Speaker 2: little different, you know, bottle of wax. I got a
- 5:09Speaker 2: question from GYM this week too, asking, hey, question a
- 5:13Speaker 2: good system program to dub VHS to hard drive and
- 5:16Speaker 2: is that something that you've done, I mean, and what
- 5:19Speaker 2: did you end up using.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I bought a RCA to HDUMI converter, which then will
- 5:25Speaker 3: upscale it to either seven twenty or ten a D
- 5:28Speaker 3: depending on Whateveryone wasn't the most ideal way to do
- 5:31Speaker 3: it because it kind of botched the resolution a little bit.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I think on the upscale, what really you need is
- 5:37Speaker 3: is some something that will retime it because it tapes
- 5:41Speaker 3: are need to be timed, so you need somebody that
- 5:44Speaker 3: has a time based corrector in it.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 3: What I would look into and there is getting a
- 5:51Speaker 3: VHS DVD combo that can write to hard drives because
- 5:55Speaker 3: you can put the tapes in and it'll copy it
- 5:58Speaker 3: as you're going into the hard drive. Oh nice, that's
- 6:00Speaker 3: a way to do it. Otherwise, I just was playing
- 6:03Speaker 3: out of the VH to put the tape in RCA
- 6:06Speaker 3: out to this device that was clocking it, and I'd
- 6:09Speaker 3: have to look at I don't remember what it's called.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I'd have to I bought it off Amazon HDMI to
- 6:13Speaker 3: a black Magic H two six four encoder. Right it
- 6:17Speaker 3: was going out analog getting converted to digital and capturing
- 6:21Speaker 3: as an H two six four because a lot of
- 6:23Speaker 3: people have the ability to bring capture cards in, but
- 6:26Speaker 3: they're either going to capture at a much lower resolution
- 6:30Speaker 3: or a much higher resolution, because if you just go
- 6:32Speaker 3: out and buy, say like a black Magic deck link
- 6:34Speaker 3: card or a capture card from Alcado four K or something,
- 6:38Speaker 3: you still have to have a program that will record,
- 6:40Speaker 3: either bring it in and record it with OBS that
- 6:44Speaker 3: then you can do some H two six four encoding.
- 6:45Speaker 3: You're gonna need a processor that supports HG six four encoding,
- 6:48Speaker 3: or you're gonna use like the black Magic software, but
- 6:51Speaker 3: that's gonna capture like pro reds or ABC you know,
- 6:55Speaker 3: or DNxHD like the much higher lossless codecs that are
- 7:00Speaker 3: going to take it with no more space.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I was, I told him, because the one I bought
- 7:03Speaker 2: ended up buying when I and doing it a little
- 7:06Speaker 2: later on was the Diamond VC five hundred SE. It's
- 7:09Speaker 2: a kind of a one touch VHS camcorder a digital
- 7:12Speaker 2: file converter, so it does that and it's not bad.
- 7:15Speaker 2: It has a little screen on it. The problem is
- 7:18Speaker 2: finding a good VCR to do it. I had a
- 7:20Speaker 2: VCR with some you know, head issues, so you had
- 7:23Speaker 2: a little noise on it. I'd almost recommend buying a
- 7:25Speaker 2: brand new VCR if you don't have one, or have
- 7:28Speaker 2: one that has just got very low life on it,
- 7:31Speaker 2: and trying it that way. And also, don't forget if
- 7:33Speaker 2: the tapes have been sitting around a long time, like
- 7:35Speaker 2: they can actually have some of that that problem on
- 7:38Speaker 2: the tapes themselves, and there's no way to get to
- 7:40Speaker 2: really get around that, not really. So I mean, that's
- 7:45Speaker 2: that's one thing to look at. And the one from Diamond,
- 7:47Speaker 2: it's not that expensive. I think you can find that
- 7:49Speaker 2: on Amazon for I want to say, like around fifty
- 7:51Speaker 2: or sixty bucks.
- 7:52Speaker 1: We got to touch on something that I figure is
- 7:54Speaker 1: so cool.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So we talked a few weeks back about Zomboid Pro
- 8:01Speaker 2: Project Zomboid Project Zomboid. We had a couple of comments
- 8:05Speaker 2: from the opus clip that we had put on our
- 8:07Speaker 2: social media on TikTok and and Instagram reels and Facebook.
- 8:11Speaker 2: People liked it. One guy said it's his most favorite
- 8:14Speaker 2: game ever. And then I get this audio file from
- 8:18Speaker 2: Justin and I'm listening to this and he goes, oh,
- 8:21Speaker 2: by the way, I might be a voice in the game,
- 8:24Speaker 2: And so here. We're gonna play the clip from you
- 8:26Speaker 2: for you so you could hear justin in Project Zomboid.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Here you go.
- 8:31Speaker 4: My name is Pastor James Hartnell. I am in what
- 8:35Speaker 4: was once a place for radio broadcast. It is now
- 8:39Speaker 4: a mausoleum. Hey, walking mausoleum. I have been bitten. I
- 8:45Speaker 4: am not long for this world. I came here to
- 8:50Speaker 4: this room to pray with you for our souls, our
- 8:55Speaker 4: father who art?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Oh, but here they do not worry. I am ready
- 9:04Speaker 1: for this. God bless you, get back, get back who
- 9:14Speaker 1: art in heaven?
- 9:16Speaker 3: How it be.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Thy name? That is awesome?
- 9:22Speaker 3: All right?
- 9:22Speaker 2: You gotta tell us the story behind this that you
- 9:25Speaker 2: may be one of the voices in the game. Kind
- 9:27Speaker 2: of recap a little bit about this game.
- 9:30Speaker 4: This is a game. It's on Steam. It's a PC game.
- 9:34Speaker 4: It has been around since twenty thirteen, as I think
- 9:36Speaker 4: it was when the very first iteration of this game
- 9:39Speaker 4: came out. But it is as a zombie survival game,
- 9:44Speaker 4: and it looks a lot like the original SIMS.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I think it's generated interest in SIMS again, hasn't it.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I wouldn't really necessarily go that far because I know
- 9:55Speaker 4: the SIMS just also re released their twenty fifth anniversary
- 9:59Speaker 4: edition of the same Yes, but the game does look
- 10:02Speaker 4: a lot like SIMS. And I'll be honest, a lot
- 10:05Speaker 4: of times I'll be over at our neighborhood brewery and
- 10:09Speaker 4: I'll be playing Project Zomboid and I'm walking. People walk
- 10:12Speaker 4: by me and they're like, oh, you're playing the SIMS.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I'm like, no, No, I'm not. I'm playing Project Zomboid. Basically,
- 10:18Speaker 4: what it is, it's a survival game. You are a
- 10:24Speaker 4: survivor in an apocalyptic event that takes place in Knox County, Kentucky.
- 10:28Speaker 4: You will not survive the game because the game actually
- 10:30Speaker 4: when you start the game, it actually says this is
- 10:32Speaker 4: the story of how you died, and and you will
- 10:36Speaker 4: die in the game because the zombies will get you. Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 4: it's just how long can you survive and what can
- 10:41Speaker 4: you accomplish during that time before the zombies get to you.
- 10:45Speaker 4: So I've been playing the game a lot, and it
- 10:47Speaker 4: recently had a resurgence and popularity because the developers, Indie Stone,
- 10:52Speaker 4: they came out with a new update called Build forty two,
- 10:55Speaker 4: and they basically revamped everything in the game. They made
- 11:00Speaker 4: the combat better, they made the AI of the zombies better,
- 11:05Speaker 4: they made a lot more stuff you can do as
- 11:07Speaker 4: a character. It's just it's like basically a completely revamped
- 11:12Speaker 4: game and people are loving it. And as of the
- 11:15Speaker 4: recording of this show, everybody's talking about it. PC game,
- 11:19Speaker 4: PC gamer, all kinds of different websites are all talking
- 11:23Speaker 4: about this is the best zombie survival horror game you
- 11:28Speaker 4: can get right now on Steam and it's only twenty bucks.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So I'm playing it right And there's a lot of mods.
- 11:33Speaker 4: You can add a lot of mods because the developer,
- 11:36Speaker 4: it's a very small team and they can't fix all
- 11:38Speaker 4: the bugs. So there's a huge modding community out there.
- 11:41Speaker 4: And one of the mods I believe was called better
- 11:44Speaker 4: TV Radio because there are televisions and radios in the game,
- 11:49Speaker 4: like stations, right yeah, yeah, and you can get a radio,
- 11:52Speaker 4: you can tune into a station. But the thing is
- 11:54Speaker 4: is the radio stations and even the TV they all
- 11:57Speaker 4: sound like the old Peanuts.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Characters, like the Woom.
- 12:02Speaker 4: So this particular mod decided, hey, let's get some voice actors,
- 12:06Speaker 4: let's let's re let's redo the lines, because the lines,
- 12:09Speaker 4: the text is on the screen, it's just.
- 12:12Speaker 1: The voices are just like we.
- 12:14Speaker 4: So they said, let's go ahead and let's let's let's
- 12:16Speaker 4: do this. Let's make a professional. So I went to
- 12:19Speaker 4: their discord channel and they said, hey, look, we're hiring
- 12:22Speaker 4: voice actors. Here are all of the lines that we
- 12:24Speaker 4: need to recording, and a lot of them were already taken,
- 12:27Speaker 4: including the one that you just heard was taken by
- 12:32Speaker 4: this but it was called Pastor John. And so I
- 12:35Speaker 4: saw this and I said, you know what, I have
- 12:37Speaker 4: all the equipment, you know, because we do tech talk radio,
- 12:40Speaker 4: I have a studio in my house, and I've got
- 12:42Speaker 4: a lot of experience. I said, you know, I'm gonna
- 12:44Speaker 4: give this a shot. So I went home and I
- 12:47Speaker 4: took one take what you just heard right there, took
- 12:50Speaker 4: one taken, and I recorded the voice and I sent
- 12:53Speaker 4: it in to the discord channel. And the admin of
- 12:58Speaker 4: that particular mod that was running the discord, Oh my god,
- 13:02Speaker 4: he goes, where have you been? I needed you like
- 13:04Speaker 4: six months ago. That's awesome, he goes, there, there's a
- 13:07Speaker 4: lot of the lines that I've already given away. We've
- 13:09Speaker 4: already put him into the game. But you I'm giving
- 13:12Speaker 4: you this one, even though I already gave it to
- 13:14Speaker 4: somebody else. I'm given you this one and I want
- 13:16Speaker 4: you for other things. And on top of that, he
- 13:19Speaker 4: also mentioned that he is in talks with Indie Stone
- 13:22Speaker 4: to make his mod part of the Bass game. Oh
- 13:26Speaker 4: very nice, right, So if that happens, then I will
- 13:30Speaker 4: be in the base game. That's because a voice, and
- 13:32Speaker 4: it's just a random voice. But they are going to
- 13:35Speaker 4: be doing in the future. Their plans are to do
- 13:37Speaker 4: not only just more TV more radio voices in the game,
- 13:41Speaker 4: but also they're going to introduce NPC characters, right. Those
- 13:45Speaker 4: characters are gonna have voices, So I may end up
- 13:48Speaker 4: doing a lot more voiceover.
- 13:49Speaker 2: You might be an nc that's awesome, I might be
- 13:52Speaker 2: an NBC. How much is this game to play?
- 13:55Speaker 4: Me? Well, for for projects on Boyd it's twenty bucks.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Twenty bucks and it provides hours and hours of entertainment.
- 14:02Speaker 3: If you have a PC, can you can you get it?
- 14:05Speaker 1: Yes, it's on PC.
- 14:07Speaker 4: It's on Steam, so if you can, if you got Steam,
- 14:09Speaker 4: I think you can even get it on Mac. If
- 14:11Speaker 4: you have a Mac and you have Steam Client, I
- 14:13Speaker 4: believe they have a version for that now. If you
- 14:15Speaker 4: have a PlayStation or an Xbox. Unfortunately, no, this is
- 14:19Speaker 4: only a PC game, but I would highly recommend projects
- 14:23Speaker 4: on board. It doesn't require a huge amount of graphics
- 14:26Speaker 4: power or processing power. It is a very old school
- 14:30Speaker 4: looking game, but it is super super good.
- 14:34Speaker 2: All right, speaking of PlayStation, can't do this and not
- 14:38Speaker 2: talk about it. I know that justin you do play PlayStation, Sean,
- 14:42Speaker 2: do you? Oh you don't anymore? No, okay, because I
- 14:46Speaker 2: was wondering if you were affected by this twenty four
- 14:48Speaker 2: hour outage, which is apparently gonna cost Sony some money.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, they went down and they're they're gonna
- 14:54Speaker 2: be doing payouts.
- 14:56Speaker 4: The funny thing was that they never they never they
- 14:58Speaker 4: never said what was the cause. They said, oh, it
- 15:00Speaker 4: was a equipment maintenance or something like that. A lot
- 15:05Speaker 4: of people are thinking, hey, this was probably a hack.
- 15:07Speaker 4: I mean, because you don't have equipment failure like that
- 15:11Speaker 4: on that kind of scale for that long unless it
- 15:15Speaker 4: was a hack. Now that that harkens back to what
- 15:17Speaker 4: was it twenty eleven, right when they had the famous
- 15:20Speaker 4: Sony hack where they were down for like three straight
- 15:22Speaker 4: weeks or something like that, where.
- 15:24Speaker 1: They stole the people's data. Why.
- 15:27Speaker 4: I was living in San Diego at the time. I
- 15:29Speaker 4: remember that happening, but the twenty four hours and they
- 15:33Speaker 4: were basically radio silent, like they were just coming out, Yes,
- 15:37Speaker 4: we are aware that some people are having a problem.
- 15:39Speaker 4: We are working on it.
- 15:40Speaker 1: And it's like, I'm sorry some people, everybody.
- 15:44Speaker 2: They kind of took like what Microsoft did in this lap,
- 15:46Speaker 2: remember that the last Doubt outage that they had that
- 15:50Speaker 2: was really bad. They just really didn't say anything for
- 15:53Speaker 2: a long time because they.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Were trying to figure it all out.
- 15:55Speaker 4: And yeah, I really think there was a lot more
- 15:58Speaker 4: of the story than what they were even leading on.
- 16:00Speaker 4: And I really think it was some sort of a
- 16:02Speaker 4: breach in their system and they were trying.
- 16:04Speaker 3: To Usually usually when it's radio silence is because they
- 16:07Speaker 3: don't know, right, Yeah, Usually it's like, oh, here's why,
- 16:11Speaker 3: and it's either some facade or it's half truth.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But nothing Yeah, wow, Yeah, there was something going on.
- 16:20Speaker 3: The twenty eleven outage lasted twenty three days.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Twenty three days, okay, and.
- 16:25Speaker 3: It compromised seventy seven million PlayStation user accounts.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah are people still now?
- 16:30Speaker 2: When you think about this, okay, you go back to
- 16:33Speaker 2: think of some of the big hacks where it's been
- 16:35Speaker 2: medical systems, you know, hospitals, medical data.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I don't know banks have been ever hit.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You know, schools have, one of our school districts here
- 16:45Speaker 2: have when something like this happened. How long can those
- 16:49Speaker 2: repercussions affect the customer base that has data, whether it
- 16:55Speaker 2: be phone numbers, email?
- 16:56Speaker 1: How long is that stuff going to be floating around decades?
- 17:00Speaker 3: Who knows? Who knows where the data went?
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it goes to the dark web, goes
- 17:04Speaker 1: to the gets.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Sold, and then it gets resold and resold and resolved.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Now, I mean this is this is how you get
- 17:11Speaker 4: This is how you get these these these scam emails
- 17:14Speaker 4: and the scam text messages and things like that is
- 17:18Speaker 4: because your information was exposed onto the dark web to
- 17:22Speaker 4: the highest bidder, and a lot of times those highest
- 17:24Speaker 4: bidders are from foreign countries like North Korea, China, Russia.
- 17:29Speaker 4: You know, those are the top three biggest hacking countries
- 17:32Speaker 4: out there besides the United States. But you even got
- 17:36Speaker 4: countries like Czech Republic there's actually a pretty decent size
- 17:40Speaker 4: hacking community and the Czech Republic, but the biggest ones
- 17:43Speaker 4: are you know the first three that I mentioned. So, yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 4: once your data is in the on the dark Web,
- 17:48Speaker 4: it's out there forever.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Would you recommend that people take that offer that they'll
- 17:53Speaker 2: get usually they'll get an offer for free credit monitoring
- 17:56Speaker 2: for a year to be able to keep an eye
- 17:58Speaker 2: on that.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Would you recommend they do that?
- 17:59Speaker 3: Or so you have to be really careful with that,
- 18:02Speaker 3: because do you remember the experience hack? Yeah, right, the
- 18:07Speaker 3: credit model, the credit whatever, the one of the big
- 18:09Speaker 3: credits place. Right. So they released almost like immediately this
- 18:16Speaker 3: police signe. You know, here's this customer agreement. It'll give
- 18:19Speaker 3: you X amount of free stuff from us. But it
- 18:23Speaker 3: negated a bunch of the court stuff like liability and
- 18:28Speaker 3: like and it went around like wildfire because people were like,
- 18:31Speaker 3: this is the answer. It's gonna protect your data that
- 18:34Speaker 3: they're saying, it's gonna be so good for you, But
- 18:37Speaker 3: it ended up being well, hey, a class action lawsuit
- 18:40Speaker 3: got filed two months later, and people were like, well,
- 18:43Speaker 3: I can't be I'm not part of that. I can't
- 18:45Speaker 3: be a part of that because I signed this agreement before.
- 18:48Speaker 3: All right, you have to be very careful when companies
- 18:50Speaker 3: come very forward, very quickly with these ye too good
- 18:54Speaker 3: to be true offers, because they're just looking out for
- 18:58Speaker 3: their back end.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, totally. Ye never.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I never signed those. I mean, I've been a victim
- 19:02Speaker 4: of multiple and they're always like, hey, we're offering you,
- 19:06Speaker 4: you know, three free years of credit monitoring, and then
- 19:09Speaker 4: you read the fine print. Yeah, exactly what Sean said
- 19:11Speaker 4: is you sign this, you take this offer, you lose
- 19:14Speaker 4: your right to sue us in the future or even
- 19:17Speaker 4: be just become part of a class action lawsuit against
- 19:20Speaker 4: us by taking this offer. So I'm always like, nope,
- 19:24Speaker 4: somebody would. I'm gonna sit back and see what happens.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Somebody wants to ask me when you sign up for
- 19:28Speaker 2: stuff online, whether it's you know, maybe maybe through a
- 19:31Speaker 2: vendor of a product that you like and you want
- 19:33Speaker 2: to sign up to get information, that you use a
- 19:36Speaker 2: social media email account that's not tied to a main account,
- 19:40Speaker 2: like say you have an account through your ISP, whether
- 19:42Speaker 2: it be Infinity or Cox or you know, any of
- 19:47Speaker 2: the cable services Google Fi, that you use one that
- 19:51Speaker 2: is separate and just like.
- 19:52Speaker 1: A Gmail or a Yahoo or even AOL.
- 19:56Speaker 4: So there there are a lot of people that do
- 19:59Speaker 4: and a lot of people that do this, and this
- 20:00Speaker 4: is kind of where I would love to have Matt,
- 20:03Speaker 4: you know, if he was here tonight, Simon, because he
- 20:05Speaker 4: is the cybersecurity expert. But I do know that a
- 20:09Speaker 4: lot of IT professionals, and especially cybersecurity professionals, they have
- 20:15Speaker 4: fifteen twenty twenty five email addresses.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Right because I mean you can sign up for them.
- 20:20Speaker 1: They're free.
- 20:21Speaker 4: I mean they're all free, yeah, right. And what they
- 20:23Speaker 4: do is they assign those email addresses to particular types
- 20:28Speaker 4: of things that they do on the internet. For instance,
- 20:32Speaker 4: online shopping, they'll use one particular email address. Then for
- 20:38Speaker 4: any type of registration of products that they buy, they'll
- 20:42Speaker 4: use a different one because then they can track who
- 20:46Speaker 4: is selling the information. Because if they go to register
- 20:49Speaker 4: a brand new email address that has never been out
- 20:51Speaker 4: there before, and they register a product and all of
- 20:53Speaker 4: a sudden, bam bam bam bam bam, they're getting hit
- 20:55Speaker 4: with spam emails. They're like, yeah, this company just sold
- 20:58Speaker 4: my information even though they said they wouldn't.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Interesting stuff. Are we gonna take a break. We come back.
- 21:04Speaker 2: We've got a couple of listener questions. We got some
- 21:06Speaker 2: news of some tech as well. We'll be back with
- 21:09Speaker 2: more of Tech Talk Radio.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de weird and I'm justin.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Let me find us on the web at tech talk
- 21:15Speaker 4: radio dot com.
- 21:15Speaker 1: We'll be right back and now back to tech talk radio.
- 21:20Speaker 1: All right, So we have a listener question here.
- 21:23Speaker 4: It says I have started a new home based business,
- 21:26Speaker 4: and I was looking for ways to get the word out.
- 21:28Speaker 4: A buddy of mine told me not to bother with
- 21:30Speaker 4: a website. He says most people use social media to
- 21:33Speaker 4: get the word out. I wanted to get your thoughts
- 21:35Speaker 4: on needing a website. Oh that's a yeah. No, I
- 21:41Speaker 4: disagree with what your buddy says. I think everybody needs
- 21:45Speaker 4: to have a website.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I agree with you, But the cost of a website
- 21:49Speaker 1: has gone up.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Correct.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Well, I think it depends on what you're putting on there,
- 21:55Speaker 2: and it depends on how much you want on the website.
- 21:58Speaker 2: You know, there are some people put everything they do,
- 22:00Speaker 2: you know, the deep have a blog, baby have?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Sure? Yeah?
- 22:05Speaker 2: But like, all right, so you started a website, uh,
- 22:08Speaker 2: for your your DJ business?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Right? Yeah?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, And but that that probably wasn't too much of
- 22:15Speaker 2: an investment. What I did was I basically I use
- 22:18Speaker 2: Wix like a build your own kind of Yeah, it's
- 22:20Speaker 2: like Squarespace.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Wix, you know, stuff like that. They also have an
- 22:24Speaker 4: e commerce platform built in, which I you know, obviously
- 22:27Speaker 4: I didn't need to use the e commerce, but I
- 22:29Speaker 4: what I did was I use the Wix program or
- 22:32Speaker 4: process to buy the domain, which obviously you have to
- 22:36Speaker 4: buy the domain name, right, and then the hosting of
- 22:39Speaker 4: the actual website, which I believe. I think I get
- 22:41Speaker 4: five website pages on my platform.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Is it on?
- 22:45Speaker 1: Is it on Wix?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Are they the hosting company or well, they're the hosting company,
- 22:49Speaker 2: but it doesn't have a Wix domain. It uses my
- 22:52Speaker 2: personal domain. Okay, who's theirs?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Cool?
- 22:55Speaker 4: So, uh yeah, it's my own personal domain, but it
- 22:58Speaker 4: is hosted by Wix. And I also get an email
- 23:01Speaker 4: address so if I want to, you know, people want
- 23:04Speaker 4: to email me, that goes through Wix as well. And
- 23:07Speaker 4: I used a little bit of their social media tool
- 23:11Speaker 4: which just kind of helps promote my website to search engines.
- 23:14Speaker 4: It's called SEO Search engine optimization, right. And then I
- 23:18Speaker 4: what I did was I think I bought I bought
- 23:20Speaker 4: the three year package because it was a better deal
- 23:23Speaker 4: because I knew I was going to have the website
- 23:24Speaker 4: for a while. Yeah, and I think I want to say,
- 23:27Speaker 4: I think I paid five hundred dollars for three years
- 23:30Speaker 4: all of this, which means hosting domain, name, email, everything,
- 23:35Speaker 4: all all of it for like five hundred bucks.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the idea of just putting it on
- 23:40Speaker 2: social media, if you're just on Facebook or Instagram, doesn't
- 23:44Speaker 2: it just kind of really it doesn't say too much
- 23:46Speaker 2: about the professionalism or you know that you could be
- 23:50Speaker 2: a trustworthy I don't, I don't know.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Also, also, content on social media disappears. I mean you're
- 23:56Speaker 4: not going to be able to go back and visit
- 23:58Speaker 4: that content very easily. I mean, yes, if you follow
- 24:00Speaker 4: the person on social media or whatever, you might, but
- 24:03Speaker 4: a lot of those social media what he's talking about,
- 24:06Speaker 4: this home business, he's probably talking about things like advertising
- 24:10Speaker 4: on social media, which means he's going to be paying
- 24:13Speaker 4: for advertisements which are going to reach a lot of people.
- 24:16Speaker 4: But most people just skip right by the advertisements.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:21Speaker 4: So, to have your own website, which is like a
- 24:23Speaker 4: home base for your business, you know that that that's
- 24:27Speaker 4: that's gonna be where.
- 24:27Speaker 1: You wanted to go.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Yeah, of course with the email address, with your own domain, Uh,
- 24:33Speaker 4: you know, you'd be justin at you know, tech talk radio, right, right,
- 24:36Speaker 4: you know, that's that's that's that's a more personal way
- 24:40Speaker 4: of doing it. Actually, you know what I forgot to
- 24:42Speaker 4: mention part of that Wix deal was I actually got
- 24:44Speaker 4: five hundred business cards as well. Oh, actual business cards,
- 24:48Speaker 4: actual business cards.
- 24:49Speaker 2: That's a great it's a great idea. Actually, yeah, yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 2: that is good. I you know, I find having that
- 24:54Speaker 2: email address is also a certain benefit because somebody give
- 24:57Speaker 2: it has their own bay business.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It's just look so much better, I think.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 4: I mean you've got a business and you're like, oh, yeah,
- 25:04Speaker 4: I have a home business.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I do I don't know.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Let's say I do home painting and and and you
- 25:09Speaker 4: can reach me at Justin at gmail dot com. Ah,
- 25:13Speaker 4: it just doesn't seem professional. Yeah, you know, when you've
- 25:15Speaker 4: got a Gmail dot com or an Aol dot com
- 25:18Speaker 4: or a Yahoo dot com, it just doesn't seem professional.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Sean, what do you think I agree with Justin?
- 25:24Speaker 3: I mean, I think having a presence where somebody can
- 25:28Speaker 3: come and look at your content. It also depends on
- 25:30Speaker 3: what you're selling or what you're doing, right, if it's
- 25:34Speaker 3: it all depends. But like if you want to you
- 25:37Speaker 3: have to use some of those tools, Like you can
- 25:39Speaker 3: try and do all your own search engine optimization and
- 25:41Speaker 3: all that stuff. But it's like it's a job on itself,
- 25:44Speaker 3: Like it's about what about of work you want to
- 25:47Speaker 3: put into it to get out of it, because you
- 25:50Speaker 3: can put as much time and effort into it, but
- 25:52Speaker 3: if you're not going to get any return in your investment,
- 25:56Speaker 3: have somebody else build it for you.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Now, let me take this in a completely different direction.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Though Now I don't know what this person's business is.
- 26:02Speaker 4: They didn't mention everything in a question. There is a
- 26:05Speaker 4: couple different people that I particularly watch on YouTube that
- 26:08Speaker 4: I just happen to naturally find within the YouTube algorithm,
- 26:13Speaker 4: and they are landscapers, right, and they do these videos
- 26:17Speaker 4: where they do a time lapse of them like mowing
- 26:20Speaker 4: a person's lawn and making it look all nice. And
- 26:23Speaker 4: I've seen those ing like a storm drain or something
- 26:27Speaker 4: and they're doing like a time lapse. Those are like
- 26:30Speaker 4: organic social media because you're not really putting a lot
- 26:35Speaker 4: of effort into it except for just simply recording the
- 26:38Speaker 4: video and then putting it up on YouTube and hoping
- 26:41Speaker 4: somebody finds you. That's one way of doing it. So,
- 26:43Speaker 4: like if you're a landscaper, and you want to showcase
- 26:45Speaker 4: your work, why not throw up a YouTube channel, But
- 26:49Speaker 4: the algorithm is going to have to pick you up,
- 26:52Speaker 4: and that's almost impossible nowadays, right, So to have a
- 26:55Speaker 4: website where you could, you know, you could take those
- 26:57Speaker 4: videos that you've made of you doing your work and
- 27:01Speaker 4: put them on your website, which then drives traffic to
- 27:04Speaker 4: your YouTube channel, which then gets you more subscribers, which
- 27:08Speaker 4: then in turn makes the algorithm pay more attention to you.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, and now next thing.
- 27:15Speaker 1: You know, you're a millionaire.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Well the other idea, too, would be that if you
- 27:19Speaker 2: have the website, still invest in social media by having
- 27:24Speaker 2: your presence and that's where you put a lot of
- 27:26Speaker 2: content and again drive it back to your website. I mean, yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 2: that would make sense. So don't just say both ways,
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah dude, do do it both ways. Don't just say okay,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I got a website, I'm good and not paying attention
- 27:36Speaker 2: to it and not do any updates to it.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Do the do both of them.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Social media and that and you know that that's probably
- 27:43Speaker 2: a better way.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Or even radio advertising.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Yeah, radio advertising too, and link link link your YouTube
- 27:49Speaker 4: channel to your website. So people go to your website,
- 27:52Speaker 4: they see your videos that are hosted on YouTube, which
- 27:54Speaker 4: then brings them to the YouTube channel, which then gets
- 27:57Speaker 4: them to subscribe to you, and then it affects the algorithm.
- 28:00Speaker 4: So I mean, there's all. There's it's a it's a
- 28:02Speaker 4: big game, man like. It's it's really hard to get
- 28:04Speaker 4: noticed on social media anymore, to be honest.
- 28:07Speaker 1: All right, So having having a website is the best
- 28:09Speaker 1: thing to do.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Great question there, Sean, do you want to do? You
- 28:11Speaker 2: want to handle the next question you.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Want to do? Because I've been reading that question. I've
- 28:16Speaker 3: been looking at options because I have several that just
- 28:18Speaker 3: came right off the top of my head. All right,
- 28:20Speaker 3: the next listener question, And for one, I'm going to
- 28:22Speaker 3: comment on this because it says I found a flash
- 28:25Speaker 3: drive with a bunch of Windows media video files on it.
- 28:28Speaker 5: I hope it was there, right that that that is
- 28:32Speaker 5: I saw? Yeah, you found it outside. I hope it
- 28:35Speaker 5: was your street.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Don't plug it at anybody, don't know, like, well, clearly
- 28:39Speaker 3: you did because you know it has movie files on it,
- 28:41Speaker 3: right right, I'm going to give good faith here and
- 28:44Speaker 3: trust that this is your flash drive that you may
- 28:46Speaker 3: have just had laying around in your house. There are
- 28:50Speaker 3: good options, all right?
- 28:51Speaker 1: What they want? They want to know what?
- 28:53Speaker 3: So the best one is free? All right?
- 28:56Speaker 1: So they wanted to, so they want the question is
- 28:58Speaker 1: they wanted to? They want to? Way to convert these
- 29:00Speaker 1: right easily?
- 29:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sorry, I didn't read the rest of the question.
- 29:02Speaker 3: My fault. I found a flash drive with a bunch
- 29:05Speaker 3: of Windows Media video files on it. Is there a
- 29:07Speaker 3: way to convert them easily? I don't mind spending a
- 29:10Speaker 3: few dollars? Or is there a free option? There are
- 29:13Speaker 3: several free options for this, all right. Handbreak is the
- 29:18Speaker 3: number one video transcoding piece of software. I could recommend
- 29:23Speaker 3: it anybody.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I always thought that Handbreak was just for you know,
- 29:25Speaker 2: a way for me to get my DVD movies into
- 29:28Speaker 2: a file.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Then that is probably the one number one reason I
- 29:32Speaker 3: use it for is you can put a DVD in
- 29:33Speaker 3: and rip it and it gives you a file. It
- 29:36Speaker 3: will take essentially any media platform you can think of
- 29:40Speaker 3: within reason. Right, Obviously, your computer has to have the
- 29:43Speaker 3: CODEC to be able to do it. Windows Media files
- 29:46Speaker 3: Windows wmvs are one of them. You can then convert
- 29:50Speaker 3: it to just audio as an MP three. You can
- 29:52Speaker 3: convert it to a HT six four. You can do
- 29:55Speaker 3: all sorts of stuff with it. The other one that
- 29:57Speaker 3: I recommend, and this is something I recommend to everybody
- 29:59Speaker 3: that's install on their Nuke Fresh and stuff, Windows whatever,
- 30:03Speaker 3: VLC Player.
- 30:04Speaker 1: VLC player, Oh yeah.
- 30:06Speaker 3: VLC player is probably the most They call it the
- 30:09Speaker 3: Swiss Army Knife of media players. It's free, it's open source,
- 30:14Speaker 3: it's it looks like a little traffic cone. It's it's
- 30:17Speaker 3: it's cool. They can convert with that. Also, it's a
- 30:21Speaker 3: little bit more complicated, it's a little bit more you
- 30:23Speaker 3: to kind of have a little bit more technical knowledge
- 30:25Speaker 3: to understand exactly what you're trying to do with the
- 30:27Speaker 3: the software self. But that one's also free. Okay, but
- 30:30Speaker 3: it'll play pretty much any media format on the planet,
- 30:33Speaker 3: which is incredible. And then if you are very tech
- 30:37Speaker 3: savvy and you want to try to do it yourself
- 30:39Speaker 3: with a little bit of Python coding, f fm peg,
- 30:43Speaker 3: f f m peg, all right, ffm peg is it's
- 30:47Speaker 3: it's this. It's an open source process that runs in
- 30:51Speaker 3: the background on your computer, so it doesn't have a
- 30:53Speaker 3: web interface. It's built into a lot of other products
- 30:56Speaker 3: you can use it. And then run either a Python
- 30:59Speaker 3: script to say I want to transcode this file to
- 31:02Speaker 3: this file. Except we use it at work all the
- 31:05Speaker 3: time to transcode nd I and base bay. There are
- 31:09Speaker 3: certain processes that we use it for that are way
- 31:12Speaker 3: more advanced than the general users that we're gonna do.
- 31:14Speaker 2: All right, One question I'm wondering about, Sean. Why would
- 31:17Speaker 2: somebody want to move from Windows Media video files to
- 31:23Speaker 2: maybe another format?
- 31:25Speaker 1: Uh? What would be the reason for that?
- 31:27Speaker 3: If for space compatibility?
- 31:30Speaker 1: Okay, all right, So.
- 31:31Speaker 3: If I send you a Windows Media file, how are
- 31:33Speaker 3: you gonna play it.
- 31:34Speaker 1: On my computer?
- 31:36Speaker 3: Will it work?
- 31:38Speaker 1: I think so?
- 31:40Speaker 5: If you have Windows Media Player installed.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Uh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 3: It might It may or may not be installed. You
- 31:48Speaker 3: might have to go to the place or downloaded.
- 31:50Speaker 1: So what the best place to play a file would be?
- 31:53Speaker 1: What format? MP four or so?
- 31:56Speaker 3: Yeah, It's like if you think of it from a
- 31:59Speaker 3: phone level, right, most phones record in H six four
- 32:03Speaker 3: and PIG four because that's the most compatible with existing
- 32:07Speaker 3: devices in the world. Right now, if you have it
- 32:10Speaker 3: set to most performance, you're gonna get HVC, or you're
- 32:14Speaker 3: gonna get a pro res or something or whatever. The
- 32:17Speaker 3: Google's shoosing pro res ra or black Magic raw or
- 32:21Speaker 3: whatever format there are. So H two six four or
- 32:25Speaker 3: H six five here hopefully soon will be the most compatible.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Meaning it, most software and devices are going to be
- 32:32Speaker 3: able to read that codec and play it back. If
- 32:36Speaker 3: you send somebody at WMV a Windows media file and
- 32:40Speaker 3: they're on a Mac or an iPhone or an Android,
- 32:44Speaker 3: they're probably not gonna be able to play it straight away.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Got it?
- 32:47Speaker 3: If you send them an MP four that's encoded H
- 32:50Speaker 3: two six four, they'll be able to play it because
- 32:53Speaker 3: those devices are licensed to play those codecs and can
- 32:57Speaker 3: can can play those back video and audio.
- 33:00Speaker 2: And in some cases the compression algorithm may work a
- 33:03Speaker 2: little better with a different file format, right, I mean,
- 33:05Speaker 2: so you're going to save space.
- 33:07Speaker 3: So Windows media files are less compressed than H six fours,
- 33:12Speaker 3: but depending on how big the file is, it could
- 33:16Speaker 3: be a worse looking in compression though than H twx four.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Got it, H two six four and H six five
- 33:23Speaker 3: are more efficient codex They may and they could create
- 33:27Speaker 3: can create smaller file sizes, but at greater quality. So
- 33:32Speaker 3: you start getting into you know it's w mvs, A
- 33:35Speaker 3: v I S and certain other file structures. You get
- 33:39Speaker 3: more data less compression, but the file sizes are bigger,
- 33:44Speaker 3: all right. You know, it depends on what flavor of
- 33:46Speaker 3: the codec is. It might compress things differently.
- 33:48Speaker 2: But and Adobe, what do you think do they have?
- 33:51Speaker 2: They have software that's free.
- 33:53Speaker 3: So there are a couple Adobe products. You can get
- 33:55Speaker 3: Adobe Express, which is not one that I've used in
- 33:58Speaker 3: a long time. But then they have the Adobe Media
- 34:01Speaker 3: Adobe Media Encoder. So if you were part of an
- 34:05Speaker 3: enterprise level Adobe Suite, or you have access to the
- 34:09Speaker 3: Adobe Suite, if you're paying for like the video package
- 34:12Speaker 3: or the photo package, you might have the ability to
- 34:15Speaker 3: get Adobe Media Encoder. Again, it's very simple to open it,
- 34:19Speaker 3: say here's my file, and then tell it what you
- 34:21Speaker 3: wanted to give you and it'll spin out the file
- 34:25Speaker 3: usually usually no time at all.
- 34:27Speaker 2: It's been a while since I've looked at it, but
- 34:29Speaker 2: I've used Roxio Easy Creator in the past and Roxio Studio,
- 34:35Speaker 2: and they have a They have a conversion program for
- 34:37Speaker 2: video on there as well, which works pretty good, but
- 34:40Speaker 2: you gotta buy the program. I mean, that's the thing
- 34:41Speaker 2: you got versions versus that.
- 34:43Speaker 3: You know, back back in you know, the early two thousands,
- 34:47Speaker 3: when ripping DVDs was popular, right, and this is where
- 34:50Speaker 3: the term toaster came from, because people would burn, yeah,
- 34:54Speaker 3: DVDs and then they would pop out like toast. That's
- 34:56Speaker 3: kind of where the key where term toaster came from.
- 35:00Speaker 3: So it was kind of a funny thing. But yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 3: you had roxyo, Nero, a handful of other ones that
- 35:06Speaker 3: were popular at the time. But then it kind of
- 35:08Speaker 3: all fell back in And if you if you look
- 35:10Speaker 3: into the kind of the internet side of burning DVDs
- 35:16Speaker 3: and blu rays, the two you're gonna find for DVDs
- 35:19Speaker 3: is handbrake.
- 35:20Speaker 2: And for hand raise awesome, make make MKV, make mgv's good,
- 35:24Speaker 2: very good too, but handbreak is absolutely awesome.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It's a great idea.
- 35:27Speaker 3: All Right, we got to.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Take another quick break. We come back with more of
- 35:30Speaker 2: tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And I'm justin. Let me send us an X at
- 35:36Speaker 1: tech talk Radio. We'll be right back now back to
- 35:40Speaker 1: tech talk Radio.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I was asked a question the other day, and it's
- 35:44Speaker 2: a good question. We've been talking about tariffs. That subject
- 35:47Speaker 2: has come up and it's not you know, the subject politics,
- 35:51Speaker 2: but the question has been if you've been wanting to
- 35:54Speaker 2: get maybe something that's tech wise that is not made
- 35:58Speaker 2: here in the United States, and that it's a variety
- 36:01Speaker 2: of products, motherboards, graphics cards, of the Nintendo's switch to
- 36:06Speaker 2: which is going to be you know, be out. Could
- 36:09Speaker 2: tariffs affect the costs of some of the technology that
- 36:13Speaker 2: we may be wanting to buy because they're going to
- 36:16Speaker 2: be going both ways.
- 36:17Speaker 3: It definitely will. I mean, there's no way that a
- 36:19Speaker 3: ten tariff increase in China is not going to increase
- 36:23Speaker 3: product costs. Yeah, of course it is. How much stuff,
- 36:27Speaker 3: how much technology is made.
- 36:28Speaker 1: In China, Yeah, all of it. Yeah, I mean.
- 36:32Speaker 3: It's weird to say, but I would say seventy more
- 36:35Speaker 3: than seventy five percent of the world's stuff. Yeah, it's Maine, China.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Well you got you've got other countries like Vietnam and Thailand.
- 36:44Speaker 2: And but I mean what technology has made here in
- 36:46Speaker 2: the United States. You know, you think about that when
- 36:51Speaker 2: it comes to other boards. Uh, there are companies out there.
- 36:53Speaker 2: We think of HP, We think, oh HP, right, great
- 36:57Speaker 2: American company, Hilda Packard. Most of their products are probably
- 37:01Speaker 2: coming from offshore.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Yep, yep.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Maybe if you look at if you look at just
- 37:07Speaker 3: how much impact there was just from COVID shutting stuff
- 37:12Speaker 3: down for a period of time. Then that didn't increase
- 37:15Speaker 3: the cost at all. It just disrupted the supply chain.
- 37:18Speaker 3: So if you increase the cost and that offsets the
- 37:22Speaker 3: supply chain, that's going to have a domino effect in
- 37:25Speaker 3: the same direction. So it's gonna there's going to be
- 37:29Speaker 3: a price ke on everyday goods and every day technology
- 37:34Speaker 3: and consumer technology. That's people are going to see.
- 37:37Speaker 4: So go ahead, justin looking at to chime in here
- 37:40Speaker 4: real quick with this, I mean, what is what what
- 37:42Speaker 4: is the what is the end goal here? Because I mean,
- 37:44Speaker 4: I know, saving money, Well, we're gonna we're gonna eventually
- 37:50Speaker 4: have to dive into a little bit of politics on this,
- 37:52Speaker 4: which was out trying to get too deep into politics.
- 37:55Speaker 4: But I think the end goal is that Trump wants
- 37:58Speaker 4: to have more of these companies bring back these products
- 38:01Speaker 4: into America, to have American companies manufacture these products. I
- 38:06Speaker 4: think the problem with that is we don't have the infrastructure.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I don't believe.
- 38:11Speaker 4: I mean, maybe maybe I'm wrong, but I don't believe
- 38:14Speaker 4: we have these types of factories that Taiwan and China
- 38:18Speaker 4: have where they can manufacture the silicon to make the
- 38:22Speaker 4: nvidiate chips and the you know, the CPUs and the
- 38:25Speaker 4: motherboards and other things like that. I just don't think
- 38:28Speaker 4: we have that. But then on top of that, it's
- 38:31Speaker 4: all about paying the living wage.
- 38:33Speaker 1: You're going to drink.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Bring jobs back to America. Sure, that's the end goal, right,
- 38:37Speaker 4: but at what cost? Because now these companies are getting
- 38:41Speaker 4: this stuff made for pennies on the dollar, and this
- 38:43Speaker 4: is just the way the world works. You bring these
- 38:46Speaker 4: back to America, Now you're gonna have to pay these
- 38:47Speaker 4: people that do this stuff at a living wage unless
- 38:51Speaker 4: we go completely automated and we just have robots make everything.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Right, which some companies would love. Intel does have a
- 39:00Speaker 2: plant in uh Tempe Arizona, a silicon processing plant for
- 39:06Speaker 2: you know, the processors and whatnot. So there is there
- 39:09Speaker 2: is some manufacturing that goes on here in the United States,
- 39:11Speaker 2: and it's probably beyond that. There's other products that we've seen.
- 39:15Speaker 2: But it does make you wonder, should that then people
- 39:18Speaker 2: start thinking about, Okay, I've been saying we're gonna update
- 39:21Speaker 2: my computer, I'm gonna get new motherboard, I'm gonna and
- 39:23Speaker 2: they like.
- 39:24Speaker 1: To do it themselves.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Should they be just going ahead and buying them now
- 39:27Speaker 2: rather than waiting because the price is gonna go again,
- 39:31Speaker 2: you know, yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 3: If you can. And you know, I don't know if
- 39:34Speaker 3: I would be spending a lot of my reserve cash
- 39:37Speaker 3: right now. Yeah, you don't know what the market's gonna do.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Like with these tariffs, it's gonna unsettle so much. There's
- 39:42Speaker 3: so much uncertainty that investing in a new a big
- 39:47Speaker 3: technology debt, of like buying stuff, it might not be
- 39:51Speaker 3: the most wise decision right now.
- 39:52Speaker 1: There are other products too.
- 39:53Speaker 2: We think about Apple as well, a smart watch. Didn't
- 39:56Speaker 2: want to buy one like an Apple watch, but you
- 39:58Speaker 2: want to monitor your heart justin you went with the ring.
- 40:02Speaker 1: How's that been working out for you? I actually really
- 40:05Speaker 1: like it.
- 40:05Speaker 3: You know.
- 40:06Speaker 4: I have the pixel Watch three and I got that recently.
- 40:10Speaker 4: When I got the pixel nine fold, I got a
- 40:13Speaker 4: free pixel Watch three.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I really, honestly don't even use.
- 40:16Speaker 4: The pixel Watch three for what it is mostly used for.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I mean, I get the vibration on my wrist and
- 40:22Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, I got something I gotta respond to.
- 40:24Speaker 4: But personally me, my eyesight's not the greatest, so I
- 40:29Speaker 4: have to wear reading glasses. I can't read my watch.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Oh I can't. I can't look at it.
- 40:33Speaker 4: I mean I can't put it far enough away from
- 40:35Speaker 4: my face to be able to read the tiny little
- 40:37Speaker 4: print on the watch. And I don't wear my glasses
- 40:39Speaker 4: all the time. I only wear them when I need
- 40:41Speaker 4: to look up something close. So for me, the pixel
- 40:44Speaker 4: Watch just really doesn't do the trick, whereas the Aura ring,
- 40:48Speaker 4: I just set it and forget it. And the pixel
- 40:51Speaker 4: Watch has to be charged basically every day. The Aura
- 40:56Speaker 4: ring is once every eight to ten days.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Oh wow. And it only takes sixty minutes to charge.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Now, and it's a cost wise versus the pixel Watch. Well,
- 41:06Speaker 2: the pixel Watch was a good deal. You've got it
- 41:08Speaker 2: with the full thing. It's it's, it's, it's it's equivalent.
- 41:10Speaker 4: I would say it's about three fifty to four hundred
- 41:13Speaker 4: and fifty dollars, depends on which finish you want, If
- 41:15Speaker 4: you want the gold or the silver finish, it's obviously
- 41:18Speaker 4: going to be more. But yeah, it's about But here's
- 41:20Speaker 4: the cool thing about the r A ring, and it's
- 41:24Speaker 4: not applicable to the pixel Watch or the Apple Watch
- 41:28Speaker 4: or anything else, is that the r A ring is
- 41:30Speaker 4: actually FSA eligible.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Nice.
- 41:33Speaker 4: So if you have an FSA through your health insurance company,
- 41:37Speaker 4: they will pay for the ring and they will pay
- 41:41Speaker 4: which this is now this is the funniest part about it.
- 41:43Speaker 4: They will pay the monthly subscription to the or A ring.
- 41:49Speaker 4: They will not pay the yearly subscription, which makes no
- 41:53Speaker 4: sense to me because you're actually saving money if you
- 41:55Speaker 4: do the yearly subscription. Right, but at least with my
- 41:59Speaker 4: particular health insurance company, which is through UMR, They're like, look,
- 42:04Speaker 4: we don't make the rules. We'll pay for the monthly
- 42:06Speaker 4: at five ninety nine a month, but we're not gonna
- 42:09Speaker 4: pay for the yearly at fifty bucks. I'm like, wait,
- 42:13Speaker 4: you're just you're literally you're literally wasting money because like
- 42:16Speaker 4: fifty bucks for the year or six bucks a month, right, Like,
- 42:20Speaker 4: what the heck with the smart watch, though, you don't
- 42:23Speaker 4: pay a monthly do you?
- 42:25Speaker 3: No?
- 42:25Speaker 1: No, no, smart Watch, No you don't.
- 42:27Speaker 4: I mean well, unless you got LTE, if you got
- 42:29Speaker 4: this cellular connectivity then obviously yeah, but that's usually tied
- 42:32Speaker 4: in with your phone plan or whatever.
- 42:33Speaker 1: You don't really notice it. It's kind of just there.
- 42:36Speaker 4: But with the R ring, you need it. It's like
- 42:38Speaker 4: a five or six dollars a month subscription to get
- 42:40Speaker 4: the extra benefits. But what I like about the R
- 42:43Speaker 4: ring is it's way more accurate. I'll be working out
- 42:47Speaker 4: or doing something and then my R ring is like, hey,
- 42:50Speaker 4: we detected you're doing a workout. Thirty minutes later, the
- 42:52Speaker 4: pixel watch is like, hey, you just did a workout.
- 42:55Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, like thirty minutes ago. All right.
- 43:00Speaker 2: So Apple is doing something kind of different, which I
- 43:03Speaker 2: thought was cool. They're putting out the power Beats Pro too.
- 43:07Speaker 2: These are earbuds. Basically, you wear them in your ear. Right,
- 43:11Speaker 2: It's not just music though, this is kind of this
- 43:13Speaker 2: is different. So you imagine you're working out in the gym, right,
- 43:17Speaker 2: so you put these in, You're listening to music. It's
- 43:20Speaker 2: monitoring your heart rate, so it can tell if you're
- 43:24Speaker 2: getting a good workout, if you're you know your your
- 43:27Speaker 2: heart is accelerating or your heart is running at a
- 43:31Speaker 2: good workout pace. So if you're doing a workout.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I thought their Apple Watch was supposed to do that.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Well, say you don't say you don't want to wear
- 43:37Speaker 2: an Apple Watch, but you can wear these these power
- 43:40Speaker 2: Beats Pro listening to music and it's going to twofold
- 43:43Speaker 2: also monitor your heart, which is some people may go
- 43:47Speaker 2: if that's kind of cool. Now they're set to retail
- 43:49Speaker 2: for about two hundred and forty nine dollars. Although just
- 43:52Speaker 2: from what you're saying, justin I think the ring would
- 43:54Speaker 2: probably be a better alternative.
- 43:56Speaker 4: I mean, if you're looking for a true health benefit,
- 43:59Speaker 4: like a health tracker, I think the Aura ring is
- 44:02Speaker 4: right up there with along with like the Garmin or
- 44:05Speaker 4: or a couple of the other ones out there. But
- 44:07Speaker 4: like when it comes to just overall general like it
- 44:11Speaker 4: does everything. Yeah, the Apple Watch is a great watch.
- 44:14Speaker 4: The Epixel watches is decent, but I don't know much
- 44:18Speaker 4: about these these new earbuds you're talking about.
- 44:20Speaker 1: But yeah, for like a.
- 44:22Speaker 4: True and true, set it and forget it health monitor, the.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Aura ring is great.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Now.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I have the Apple Watch and it monitors sleep apnea,
- 44:29Speaker 2: which is this too. Mike Cardiologist wanted to he's, you know,
- 44:32Speaker 2: keep an eye on that, and I did and I
- 44:35Speaker 2: don't have an issue, which is kind of cool that
- 44:36Speaker 2: my Apple Watch was able to see that. So you
- 44:40Speaker 2: do the same thing with the ring. You get the
- 44:42Speaker 2: sleep appia notification or.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Sleep apnea notification. It also can do other stuff for cardio,
- 44:49Speaker 4: like a arrhythmia. Yeah, yeah, it can detect a rhythmia.
- 44:52Speaker 3: It also attracts can track episodes of hyper attack of cardia. Yes, right, right,
- 44:58Speaker 3: all right.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I want to ask you guys something Chrome extension plug ins.
- 45:02Speaker 2: What do you guys think about this? I mean, some
- 45:04Speaker 2: people say, don't do plugins. Don't plug into your Chrome
- 45:07Speaker 2: browser or your Edge browser or whatever browser.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Are you using.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Don't use Chrome period. You're you're not a fan of Chrome,
- 45:15Speaker 2: not anymore. No, Like what made you kind of say
- 45:18Speaker 2: I'm done with Chrome?
- 45:19Speaker 4: Well, I mean, just take a look at your task manager,
- 45:22Speaker 4: you know, after you install Chrome and you put a
- 45:24Speaker 4: couple of these extensions on. Look at how much resources
- 45:27Speaker 4: Chrome is taking up on your computer. I mean, it
- 45:30Speaker 4: is absolutely ridiculous how resource intensive Chrome is. And then
- 45:36Speaker 4: you might say, oh, well, then that's fine, I'll just
- 45:38Speaker 4: go use I'll go use Microsoft Edge. Edge is Chromium based,
- 45:43Speaker 4: It's gonna use the same amount of resources.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Firefox.
- 45:46Speaker 4: I've never really been a Firefox fan until about the
- 45:49Speaker 4: past two years.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of people say Firefox is great.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Well, no, Firefox is great, obviously, I love Firefox, and
- 45:58Speaker 4: Firefox doesn't use half of the resources that Chrome does.
- 46:01Speaker 4: But the thing is is that you've got all the
- 46:04Speaker 4: big tech companies now that are coming after Firefox. Because
- 46:08Speaker 4: Mozilla is the company that makes Firefox. They're a nonprofit organization.
- 46:12Speaker 4: They don't have a lot of money to advertise, they
- 46:14Speaker 4: don't have a lot of money to you know, fend
- 46:16Speaker 4: off lawyers and things like that. It's actually way better
- 46:19Speaker 4: I think Firefox. I've used Opera, I've used Brave. Okay,
- 46:23Speaker 4: first off, don't ever, ever ever use Brave.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Originally we thought it was good, and then Brave was
- 46:28Speaker 2: supposed to be the privacy browser.
- 46:30Speaker 4: It is the exact opposite. If I were to rate
- 46:33Speaker 4: my browsers, I'm gonna ask Sean the same question. But
- 46:35Speaker 4: if I were to rate my browsers from first to fourth,
- 46:38Speaker 4: I would say Firefox first, Edge second, Opera third, and
- 46:43Speaker 4: Chrome fourth John Chrome.
- 46:45Speaker 3: For compatibility at work and with devices that are mass produced,
- 46:50Speaker 3: Chrome is the most wide probably the most widely used,
- 46:53Speaker 3: so it has the most compatibility with software and development
- 46:56Speaker 3: and things that we use. I would say for personal use, mose, Firefox, right, Chrome, Safari.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Edge, Oh, forget so far, the Apple one. So I
- 47:09Speaker 2: found a plug in, so we've been trying to troubleshoot
- 47:12Speaker 2: an internet provided signal lots of dropouts, and they kept
- 47:17Speaker 2: saying it was not that bad. I checked at twenty
- 47:19Speaker 2: nine disconnects in one day with an extension that a
- 47:23Speaker 2: Chrome extension that helped me that I was able to
- 47:25Speaker 2: get in the Google Store called Internet Connection Monitor. I
- 47:30Speaker 2: checked out the privacy statement developer disclosed that it will
- 47:33Speaker 2: not collect your use your data. They declare your data
- 47:36Speaker 2: as not being sold to third parties outside of the
- 47:39Speaker 2: approved use cases, not being used for transferred for purposes
- 47:43Speaker 2: that are unrelated to the item's core functionality, and not
- 47:47Speaker 2: being used or transferred to determined credit worthiness or for
- 47:50Speaker 2: lending purposes. Why they had to say that, I had
- 47:53Speaker 2: no idea, but Internet Connection Monitor basically will sit in
- 47:56Speaker 2: the background if your browser is open or even minim
- 48:00Speaker 2: it will then track your Internet connection. You can click
- 48:04Speaker 2: on it and it will tell you how many times
- 48:06Speaker 2: you dropped out, how long the dropout was, And I
- 48:10Speaker 2: just I found it to be very helpful because this provider,
- 48:13Speaker 2: this ISP who is based here in southern Arizona, was saying, well,
- 48:18Speaker 2: it's not dropping out that much.
- 48:20Speaker 1: And it was was able.
- 48:22Speaker 2: We were able to actually show them that versus what
- 48:25Speaker 2: I was getting with Exfinity where it would stay on
- 48:29Speaker 2: for you know, days at a time. So again, I
- 48:33Speaker 2: like this. I like this plug in. I you know,
- 48:34Speaker 2: I want to say Internet connection monitor. But again, it's
- 48:37Speaker 2: a Chrome plug in plug in that you can get
- 48:39Speaker 2: from the Google Store. Don't get it anywhere else. Only
- 48:42Speaker 2: get it through Google Store if you're going to get it.
- 48:44Speaker 2: But that one was pretty good for us to be
- 48:46Speaker 2: able to say, no, we've been up this long, et cetera.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Interesting, All right, all.
- 48:50Speaker 3: We extension for Chrome that I use is ad block plus?
- 48:55Speaker 4: Is it ad block plus? They're they're blocking all of
- 48:58Speaker 4: those like YouTube and all those things. They're blocking all
- 49:01Speaker 4: of those ad blocking extensions on Chrome. However, they're not
- 49:06Speaker 4: blocking them on Firefox. Oh really yep, Oh I'm.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Gonna have to look into that, all right.
- 49:11Speaker 3: Keep it's kind of a battle of attrition, right YouTube
- 49:14Speaker 3: will block it, ad block will put on a patch,
- 49:16Speaker 3: YouTube will block it, ad Blocker put it'll keep fighter.
- 49:18Speaker 3: They're fighting back and forth.
- 49:20Speaker 4: On Well, yeah, that that has been the historical case.
- 49:23Speaker 4: But now YouTube has come out with a way that
- 49:26Speaker 4: basically just shuts down ad block plus permanently. I don't
- 49:30Speaker 4: know how they're doing it, but the thing is is
- 49:32Speaker 4: if you use Firefox doesn't affect it.
- 49:34Speaker 2: All Right, now the quick break, We'll be back with
- 49:36Speaker 2: more of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Seanda Weird.
- 49:39Speaker 4: And I'm Justin Lemme find us on Facebook at facebook
- 49:42Speaker 4: dot com for slash tech Talkers.
- 49:44Speaker 1: We'll be right back and now fact to tech talk Radio.
- 49:47Speaker 5: Now.
- 49:48Speaker 4: I don't know about you guys, but there was a
- 49:50Speaker 4: certain sporting event that happened last Sunday.
- 49:55Speaker 1: All right, the puppy Moe was called.
- 49:57Speaker 2: The Super Bowl, the Puffy People, Super superb.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Superb Owl, superb Owl?
- 50:03Speaker 4: What did you what Owl? What did you think of it?
- 50:06Speaker 4: First off, I hate both teams. I mean, I'm a
- 50:08Speaker 4: Denver Broncos fan, so obviously inherently I have to hate
- 50:11Speaker 4: the Kansas City Chiefs, all right, But I also hate
- 50:14Speaker 4: the Philadelphia Eagles because I think their fans are terrible.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Where where was it in four K? People were saying
- 50:19Speaker 2: I was supposed to get it in four K?
- 50:21Speaker 1: Well yeah you have to.
- 50:22Speaker 4: Well, first off, you have to have the ability to
- 50:24Speaker 4: get four K. So, uh, I have YouTube TV and
- 50:27Speaker 4: I have the four K plan. The four K feed
- 50:31Speaker 4: was on Fox Sports, okay, the actual Fox Sports four
- 50:35Speaker 4: K channel. If you were trying to watch it on
- 50:38Speaker 4: your local Fox affiliate, you were only going to get
- 50:41Speaker 4: seven to twenty p as the resolution. Now, some people
- 50:44Speaker 4: were saying to b was offering it in four K,
- 50:47Speaker 4: which I did not touch it out.
- 50:48Speaker 1: It could be too, B's like, it could.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Be a free like a free service like Pluto and
- 50:53Speaker 2: some of the other ones that are out there.
- 50:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 50:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I have a feeling they would charge for that one.
- 50:58Speaker 1: But uh yeah, but.
- 50:59Speaker 3: I I did.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I watched it.
- 51:00Speaker 4: I watched it on the four K feed on on
- 51:03Speaker 4: my televisions. And I think the NFL finally realized that
- 51:07Speaker 4: people were onto them about the referees helping the Kansas
- 51:11Speaker 4: City Chiefs over the course of the last few seasons,
- 51:15Speaker 4: because it was a huge social media thing. Everybody's talking
- 51:19Speaker 4: about the refs and how they're helping the Chiefs. And
- 51:22Speaker 4: then we get to the Super Bowl and Patrick Mahomes,
- 51:24Speaker 4: the quarterback of the Chiefs, gets blasted in the face
- 51:28Speaker 4: with an obvious face mask, and the Chiefs and the
- 51:31Speaker 4: refs are like, I didn't see anything, oh man, And
- 51:34Speaker 4: so I think the refs are like, hey, look, we
- 51:36Speaker 4: got you here.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Now you're on your own.
- 51:38Speaker 4: And it really honestly showcased how bad the Chiefs really
- 51:41Speaker 4: are when you don't have the refs working for you.
- 51:43Speaker 2: You know, upset the Chiefs fans, we're already upset. Yeah,
- 51:48Speaker 2: all right, technically though, we're watching the we're watching the
- 51:52Speaker 2: halftime performance and then into the game afterwards.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Oh that was good.
- 51:56Speaker 3: There was a.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Scene where Gloria said, is that a drug? Do they
- 52:01Speaker 1: actually fly? And Sean, you would know this.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Do they fly drones over the playing field or is
- 52:06Speaker 2: these the ones that are on wires that you're not
- 52:09Speaker 2: supposed to see?
- 52:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I would have to do some research. It's likely
- 52:13Speaker 3: the skycam. They likely rid multiple skycams. Yeah, but I
- 52:17Speaker 3: can't imagine they would have gotten permission to fly a
- 52:20Speaker 3: drone inside the stadium during.
- 52:23Speaker 4: Well, I think there actually was a it's a I
- 52:26Speaker 4: think it's a it's a law or something. Well, obviously
- 52:28Speaker 4: it's a law without drones, but I think there was
- 52:31Speaker 4: a there's that safety thing. That's why those sky cam
- 52:34Speaker 4: they they are drones, but they are attached to a
- 52:37Speaker 4: tether so that the drone can't fly off and hit somebody.
- 52:41Speaker 3: There there there there. There are four wires right and
- 52:45Speaker 3: certain spaces of the stadium, and then it's all tracked
- 52:47Speaker 3: by which reel is pulling in that kind of thing.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Like a lot of times they'll use multiple so that
- 52:53Speaker 3: certain ones get certain zones. And it's actually interesting because
- 52:56Speaker 3: working with in the stadium at nor a name, they
- 52:59Speaker 3: use skycam or spider cam depending on who's paying for what.
- 53:02Speaker 3: But they if they're using multiple, they actually have the
- 53:05Speaker 3: software that maps out by regional values so that they
- 53:10Speaker 3: can't cross over and cross the lines and all this stuff.
- 53:13Speaker 2: All right, best commercial for me before we get out
- 53:16Speaker 2: of here, I gotta say it's got to be the
- 53:17Speaker 2: Matt Damon commercial, which was just I love that one.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Did you guys have one?
- 53:24Speaker 4: The case of the Mondays the Monday Light, the course
- 53:27Speaker 4: light with the sloths, Oh my gosh, yeah yeah yeah,
- 53:32Speaker 4: speed Chase and the guy walks in the apartment. He
- 53:34Speaker 4: throws the can of course light at his friend who's
- 53:36Speaker 4: a slop and the can goes right by him as
- 53:39Speaker 4: he's slowly raising his hand. That was my favorite one.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Or or the Seal, the Seal doing the Mountain Dew
- 53:47Speaker 4: commercial as an action as seal.
- 53:50Speaker 1: That a great one.
- 53:51Speaker 3: You know, I saw a couple in the first half. Yeah. Then,
- 53:54Speaker 3: like I said earlier in the show, it's been a
- 53:57Speaker 3: rotating week, multiple weeks of sickness in my family. After
- 54:00Speaker 3: the halftime show, we were all out. It went right
- 54:04Speaker 3: right to bed.
- 54:04Speaker 1: All right.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Well, I will say that in the in the TV community,
- 54:08Speaker 3: they're all talking about the score bug, score bug with graphic,
- 54:12Speaker 3: with the graphic with the score. Oh yeah, how totally
- 54:17Speaker 3: out of left field that came.
- 54:19Speaker 1: That was ridiculous with the.
- 54:21Speaker 3: Everybody thought it was wrong because of the the opacity
- 54:25Speaker 3: level behind the numbers and the fonts coming off or
- 54:28Speaker 3: like the text was way bigger.
- 54:30Speaker 1: It's just so bush league.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Every tech blog or discord channel that I'm on was discussing, discussed,
- 54:37Speaker 3: discussing how awful the score bug looked from a TV person, like,
- 54:43Speaker 3: that's all I was focused on.
- 54:45Speaker 2: All right, listen, Uh, we're hoping that everybody feels better,
- 54:48Speaker 2: sean in your household, that they get over this bug
- 54:51Speaker 2: and that uh, we'll have to next week talk about
- 54:54Speaker 2: the spy kits that you both got if you had
- 54:57Speaker 2: some fun with that, So we'll save that for next week.
- 54:59Speaker 1: A tech talk radio I'm Andy Taylor.
- 55:02Speaker 3: I'm Seonda Weird, and I'm Justin.
