• 2:38
Speaker 5: Commissioner Lance Wheeler. How you doing, man, I'm doing well.
• 2:41
  Speaker 3: Good morning.
• 2:42
Speaker 5: You got caught in one of those rainstorms, she told me.
• 2:44
Speaker 6: Yeah, I was actually putting the two girls to go
• 2:47
Speaker 6: to daycare in the truck and that rain came down quick,
• 2:50
Speaker 6: and you know, I took it like a champ.
• 2:51
  Speaker 3: That's what a dad does.
• 2:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, but I see when they're a little bit older.
• 2:54
Speaker 5: And this is why it's probably a good thing I'm
• 2:56
Speaker 5: not a father, because when they're a little bit older,
• 2:59
Speaker 5: you could say, get the truck ready for dad.
• 3:02
Speaker 6: Well, I think Aubrey would do that, but she's three
• 3:05
Speaker 6: and I'd be afraid she might take off.
• 3:07
Speaker 5: Well, that's true. So you don't want to get to
• 3:09
Speaker 5: you know, to get tamped with grand theft auto at
• 3:11
Speaker 5: three years old. That's what that we would do in
• 3:13
  Speaker 5: southern West Virginia. That's not a Knawk county. I don't
• 3:17
Speaker 5: want to talk to you about today, And anyone that
• 3:20
Speaker 5: knows me, Commission knows I'm an animal lover one thousand percent.
• 3:24
Speaker 5: But we're just come out that the fixed Charleston clinic
• 3:27
Speaker 5: that offered low cost veterinary services will be closing. What
• 3:31
Speaker 5: can you tell us about that.
• 3:32
  Speaker 3: Well, i'd say they're closing.
• 3:33
Speaker 6: I think they're refocusing their interest and trying to help
• 3:37
Speaker 6: out the fostering and the adoption animals. You know, it's
• 3:42
Speaker 6: getting a lot more expensive to run just about anything
• 3:45
Speaker 6: these days, and the animal shelters no different, and so
• 3:48
Speaker 6: they're looking at what they can do with the adoption
• 3:51
Speaker 6: and the fostering and making sure they're focusing on those
• 3:54
Speaker 6: those animals and taking care of them. The walk in clinic,
• 3:58
Speaker 6: I think they're going to take away some of you know,
• 4:00
Speaker 6: push back some of those resources. But you know, when
• 4:03
Speaker 6: Bethinite Havily, the executive director, called me and told me this,
• 4:06
Speaker 6: I immediately had a concern for low cost spae and neuter.
• 4:10
Speaker 6: You know, this isn't the spade neuter for the adoption
• 4:12
Speaker 6: and the fostering, but the walk ins. And we have
• 4:16
Speaker 6: a lot of activists, I will call them. We have
• 4:18
Speaker 6: a lot of community activists. We have a lot of
• 4:20
Speaker 6: volunteers that do a lot of trapping of their own
• 4:23
Speaker 6: in their community with feral cats and stray dogs, and
• 4:26
Speaker 6: they'll bring them to the animal shelter just for the
• 4:29
Speaker 6: intention of making sure that they're spade and neutered and
• 4:31
Speaker 6: that they we're not re overpopulating our community with feral
• 4:35
Speaker 6: cats and stray dogs. And so that's obviously something they
• 4:39
Speaker 6: can't do on a private veterinarian it's too expensive for them.
• 4:42
Speaker 6: I want to make sure that here in our community
• 4:44
Speaker 6: we're taking care of that issue so we don't have
• 4:47
Speaker 6: an overpopulation. So I immediately got with a good friend
• 4:50
Speaker 6: of mine, great partner, Rachel Burgess with the Fix and Clinic.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: And if you haven't heard of the Fix and Clinic,
• 4:56
  Speaker 3: look them up.
• 4:57
Speaker 6: They are a low costs animal care center that will
• 5:00
Speaker 6: do spade and neuter, they'll do flea and tick. They're
• 5:03
Speaker 6: they're a nonprofit and I've reached out to them and
• 5:06
Speaker 6: before we've had good conversations with the Animal Shelter and
• 5:10
Speaker 6: then obviously Fixing Clinic, and they've been working really well together.
• 5:13
Speaker 6: And immediately Rachel Burger said, we want to help, and
• 5:16
Speaker 6: so we've gotten with Bethinlely Haveley. They're creating a plan
• 5:20
Speaker 6: to be able to anyone that walks into the Animal
• 5:23
Speaker 6: Shelter says, hey, I have an animal that I need
• 5:25
Speaker 6: to have spader neutered. They're going to refer them over
• 5:28
Speaker 6: to the Fixing Clinic and they're going to get that
• 5:30
Speaker 6: taken care of at a low cost.
• 5:31
  Speaker 3: I think that's.
• 5:32
Speaker 6: Important again for these community activists that are doing such
• 5:35
Speaker 6: a great job of making sure that we don't have
• 5:36
Speaker 6: an overpopulation, but giving them an option to go somewhere
• 5:40
Speaker 6: outside of a private veterinarian.
• 5:42
Speaker 5: And yeah, on every Friday, you know on the show
• 5:44
Speaker 5: I have Angie Gilliwater from the Canal Charleston Humane Association
• 5:47
Speaker 5: aud and I mean you could just hear it in
• 5:49
Speaker 5: her voice the issues they have with the over crowding
• 5:52
Speaker 5: up there. I means a matter of fact, as of
• 5:53
Speaker 5: last week she said on the Friday segment that we
• 5:56
Speaker 5: do that they were not going to be accepting any
• 5:59
Speaker 5: pet up there, any strays unless they were sick in
• 6:04
Speaker 5: like emergency care situation. So you can find one running
• 6:07
Speaker 5: in your neighborhood. I mean, there's nothing the can do,
• 6:09
Speaker 5: but they have nowhere to put them.
• 6:10
Speaker 6: You know, they do an excellent job. And it's not
• 6:12
Speaker 6: just Kennall County. They have helped out assist some of
• 6:15
Speaker 6: our other sister counties, Putnam County for instance. You know
• 6:18
Speaker 6: we're all aware it was in the media they were
• 6:20
Speaker 6: having some issues with their administration at that time. I
• 6:23
Speaker 6: immediately got bethinitely Hay. I told her, listen, I need
• 6:26
Speaker 6: you to call the Putnam County Commission, you know, will
• 6:29
Speaker 6: help where we can. And we got them back on
• 6:31
Speaker 6: their feet and they're doing a lot better for Putnam County.
• 6:33
Speaker 6: I know, I think that affects Cannall County because I
• 6:35
Speaker 6: don't think feral cats and stray dogs, no boundaries, so
• 6:40
Speaker 6: being able to help them too that they've done an
• 6:41
Speaker 6: excellent job, but Fix Some Clinic's done an excellent job
• 6:44
Speaker 6: here in Kannall County as well. I'm very proud of
• 6:46
Speaker 6: the work they're doing. And so by them being able
• 6:48
Speaker 6: to take more and more of these spade and newters,
• 6:51
Speaker 6: it's going to come at a costs. And so this
• 6:53
Speaker 6: Thursday at the County Commission meeting, I'm going to be
• 6:56
Speaker 6: proposing to the Commission looking at ten thousand dollars to
• 6:59
Speaker 6: go to the Fix the Clinic to help assist them
• 7:02
Speaker 6: in this transition of taking more and more of these
• 7:04
Speaker 6: animals for spade and neutered. You know, again, it's not
• 7:07
Speaker 6: something that's cheap. They run as a nonprofit. This is
• 7:10
Speaker 6: a loss every single time. I think this ten thousand
• 7:13
Speaker 6: dollars would help. I would like for this money to
• 7:16
Speaker 6: come from the Dog Tucks Fund. This is the non
• 7:19
Speaker 6: traditional tax dollars that people pay for the dog tax
• 7:24
Speaker 6: we have. The count of Commission have always used this
• 7:26
Speaker 6: money for anything to do with animals. I think this
• 7:30
Speaker 6: is appropriate and I think this is going to help
• 7:32
Speaker 6: them in this transition. Without this money, I think it's
• 7:34
Speaker 6: going to be very difficult for them to take on
• 7:36
Speaker 6: this much demand. But again, this has been a great
• 7:39
Speaker 6: partnership between the Humunity Association and Fix the Clinic, and
• 7:43
Speaker 6: being able to do this is going to be great
• 7:45
Speaker 6: for our community, especially the animal lovers like you and I.
• 7:49
Speaker 5: Dave talking again with the knockknandymmistier, Lance Wheeler, Dave Alan
• 7:52
Speaker 5: showing five ety live brought to you apart by Husband's Pizza.
• 7:54
Speaker 5: This month get a large eight and inch Pepperoni pizza
• 7:57
Speaker 5: and in order to Sentiment Bytes twenty ninety nine, pick
• 8:00
Speaker 5: up or get delivery by going to husbands Pizza dot com.
• 8:02
Speaker 5: We had a text here it says, I love Love Love,
• 8:04
Speaker 5: that's three loves. They fixed the clinics such a great
• 8:07
Speaker 5: caring group of people.
• 8:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, they really are.
• 8:10
Speaker 6: You know Rachel Burgess, I talked to her many times
• 8:13
Speaker 6: and uh, she is a she is a volunteer, she's
• 8:15
Speaker 6: a trooper, and they've got a great organization up there.
• 8:18
Speaker 3: They invited me up.
• 8:19
Speaker 6: I got to see behind the scenes of how they're
• 8:21
Speaker 6: able to take one so many animals, uh, to get
• 8:24
Speaker 6: them spade and neutered and help take care of them.
• 8:25
Speaker 6: And again it's not just the faral cats and straight oggs.
• 8:29
Speaker 6: We have a lot of low income households that can't
• 8:31
Speaker 6: afford to go to a private veterinarian to get these services,
• 8:34
Speaker 6: and they take them on to help them because at
• 8:37
Speaker 6: the end of the day, you know, we care about
• 8:38
Speaker 6: the animals and we care about their owners who love
• 8:41
Speaker 6: and cherish their their their little animals.
• 8:43
  Speaker 3: As well.
• 8:44
Speaker 5: Mentioned earlier Commissioner that Tim Brady from the UH from
• 8:48
Speaker 5: the Charleston cv B will be on the show to
• 8:50
Speaker 5: talk about the the Bikes of the Bike event next
• 8:52
Speaker 5: week and it's going to be it's gonna be absolutely huge.
• 8:55
Speaker 5: I know you guys on the county side are are
• 8:58
Speaker 5: very interested to see what happens there as well.
• 9:00
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 9:00
Speaker 6: Actually, you know our CVB that we just recently revitalized,
• 9:05
Speaker 6: we got certified by the state. You know that's a
• 9:07
Speaker 6: big deal because you can't fund the CVB through the
• 9:11
Speaker 6: hotel motel tax money unless it's certified, and so getting
• 9:15
Speaker 6: that accreditation was huge and we just actually recently our
• 9:18
Speaker 6: board with the Kennall County CVB just approved I believe
• 9:22
Speaker 6: it was ten thousand dollars maybe five thousand dollars to
• 9:25
Speaker 6: help support this bike event, because again, this is an
• 9:28
Speaker 6: absolutely incredible event, and this is one of those big
• 9:31
Speaker 6: events that it's not just supporting Charleston. No, we see
• 9:34
Speaker 6: this county wide and even stretching into some of our
• 9:37
Speaker 6: neighboring counties. The effect, the economic development effect of that.
• 9:42
  Speaker 3: Event being here.
• 9:43
Speaker 6: You know, I was able to go in Charleston with
• 9:46
Speaker 6: my family and some friends and we got to watch
• 9:48
Speaker 6: the bike's race. It's something that you just can't find
• 9:51
  Speaker 6: anywhere else.
• 9:52
Speaker 5: And I'm interested to see. And we'll talk to Tim
• 9:54
Speaker 5: about this how it comes off this year because last
• 9:57
Speaker 5: year and Tim and Mayor Goodwin and the folks will
• 9:59
Speaker 5: tell you, you know, I don't say they didn't know
• 10:01
Speaker 5: what they were doing. They certainly did, but you learn
• 10:03
Speaker 5: as you go and year two and three is where
• 10:05
Speaker 5: you really kind of kick into gear and say, well
• 10:08
Speaker 5: this work. This Ddon, We're going to try this traffic pattern,
• 10:11
Speaker 5: you know, and so it's gonna be a great event.
• 10:13
Speaker 5: We'll talk to Tim Brady about that coming up a
• 10:15
Speaker 5: little bit later on. Now, you got big happenings in Clindennon.
• 10:18
Speaker 6: I understand we have big happenings happening everywhere, but tomorrow
• 10:22
Speaker 6: and Clindon and we're really excited about this. You know,
• 10:25
Speaker 6: the County Commission's been working with the Town of Clinden
• 10:28
Speaker 6: and Mayor k Summers for a couple almost say, a
• 10:31
Speaker 6: couple of years now when she came into my office
• 10:33
Speaker 6: and told me that they had this big idea for
• 10:35
Speaker 6: a trailhead with the Elk River Trail system that's going
• 10:39
Speaker 6: through Clindonon and so we got with them and started
• 10:44
Speaker 6: applying for grants. We did some matching funds as well
• 10:46
Speaker 6: from the County Commission, and so tomorrow we're going to
• 10:49
Speaker 6: have the ribbon cutting.
• 10:50
  Speaker 3: For this trailhead.
• 10:51
Speaker 6: You know, the Elk River Trail is about forty eight
• 10:53
Speaker 6: miles long, goes into Braxton County, and this is just
• 10:56
Speaker 6: another thing we talk about the cycling. This is just
• 10:59
Speaker 6: another thing of attracting people here into our community, but
• 11:03
Speaker 6: also at the same time giving opportunities for our locals
• 11:07
Speaker 6: to be able to enjoy the outdoors safely, have a
• 11:11
Speaker 6: place that they can take their e bike or their bicycle,
• 11:14
Speaker 6: mountain bike, maybe just go for a walk or a jog.
• 11:18
Speaker 6: And having these opportunities I think is incredible again for
• 11:22
Speaker 6: our community, but also for the economic development. You know,
• 11:24
Speaker 6: when you start saying, Hey, come on over here from
• 11:27
Speaker 6: Pennsylvania to see the you know, the bike race. Not
• 11:33
Speaker 6: everyone's watching the bike race for twenty four hours. You know,
• 11:36
Speaker 6: through the whole weekend. They're going to have other opportunities
• 11:39
Speaker 6: go out, So going to be able to go to
• 11:41
Speaker 6: Clendon and and having this this trailhead that they can
• 11:44
Speaker 6: park at safely walk dog bike however they choose. I
• 11:48
Speaker 6: think it's going to be really big, and I think
• 11:50
Speaker 6: it's going to be big for Clinton and which deserves
• 11:52
Speaker 6: as much economic development opportunities as we can give them.
• 11:55
Speaker 5: She's something else, the mayor of Clindena, she's something else
• 11:58
  Speaker 5: or what.
• 11:59
Speaker 6: She is as I've always said, she is the best
• 12:02
Speaker 6: representative for that town. She will fight for her people,
• 12:05
Speaker 6: for her constituents. She will not accept no as an answer,
• 12:10
Speaker 6: and she does that with love for her people, her town,
• 12:12
Speaker 6: her community. That's where that that fight and that fire
• 12:16
Speaker 6: that everyone talks about with the mayor Summers comes from.
• 12:19
Speaker 6: It comes from her love.
• 12:20
Speaker 5: She's an amazing lady. Before we let you go, last
• 12:23
Speaker 5: week or I think it was the last week, maybe
• 12:24
Speaker 5: the week before, we had on County Commission President of
• 12:26
Speaker 5: benso Lango talking about the future of the Capital Sports Complex.
• 12:31
Speaker 5: Any comment from you.
• 12:32
Speaker 3: On them, Well, I think he said it best.
• 12:34
Speaker 6: You know, we're on pause right now because of a
• 12:36
Speaker 6: lot of different things going on. Obviously, you know, looking
• 12:39
Speaker 6: at what the federal government's seven million dollars was going
• 12:43
Speaker 6: to you know bring in was going to be helpful.
• 12:45
Speaker 6: But you know, I look at the budget and I
• 12:47
Speaker 6: start to think, you know, this is going to be
• 12:49
Speaker 6: a very costly construction. And you know, just recently the
• 12:54
Speaker 6: Kennell County Commission just had to increase our jail bill
• 12:57
Speaker 6: by a million dollars for the year. We had look
• 13:00
Speaker 6: at our PIA costs have gone up five hundred thousand.
• 13:05
Speaker 6: It was going to be eight hundred thousand. But unfortunately,
• 13:08
Speaker 6: in my office with staff, we were able to move
• 13:11
Speaker 6: them things around and we actually made it a little
• 13:13
Speaker 6: bit more cost saving without changing the healthcare coverage for
• 13:16
Speaker 6: our employees. And so when you start looking at all
• 13:19
Speaker 6: the things that have increased in our budget, and you know,
• 13:23
Speaker 6: the judicial Annex is another example. You know, we just
• 13:26
Speaker 6: had to take a fifteen million dollar bond out on that,
• 13:29
Speaker 6: you start looking at the seven million it didn't come
• 13:31
Speaker 6: from the federal government. You start looking at the County's budget.
• 13:34
Speaker 6: You know, I think that this is something that we
• 13:36
Speaker 6: have to stop be you know, findicial responsibility to the taxpayers,
• 13:41
Speaker 6: making sure that we're doing the right thing and making
• 13:44
Speaker 6: sure that this is something that's affordable. So by stopping
• 13:48
Speaker 6: reevaluating and doing it the right way, I think is
• 13:52
Speaker 6: the correct thing to do. Rushing this and just jumping
• 13:55
Speaker 6: into it and starting putting you know, concrete on ground
• 13:59
Speaker 6: and pillars and having a ribbon cutting just for a construction,
• 14:03
Speaker 6: just so we can have a building that's unfinished, I
• 14:05
  Speaker 6: think that's irresponsible. I think this is something that's we're
• 14:09
Speaker 6: going to continue to work on. You know, look at
• 14:11
Speaker 6: all the great things we've done with the hat film,
• 14:12
Speaker 6: McCoy trail, Dirt Bites, the Appalachian Outlaw Trails that we
• 14:16
Speaker 6: announced right here on this show coming to eastern Kennall County,
• 14:19
Speaker 6: the trail Head and Clennon and along with the Gravity Trails.
• 14:23
Speaker 6: You know, we've been moving that needle in the right
• 14:25
Speaker 6: direction for as many outdoor recreational things events as possible.
• 14:30
Speaker 6: Even Shawnee Sports Complex, the renovations we've been put in there.
• 14:34
Speaker 6: So we want to make sure that with everything we're doing,
• 14:37
Speaker 6: we're doing it correctly. I think the pause is the
• 14:39
Speaker 6: right move. If you're calling it.
• 14:41
Speaker 5: A pause, you're not a pause or a halt or whatever.
• 14:43
  Speaker 6: You're not absolutely done. No, I don't think it's done.
• 14:46
Speaker 6: I think there's still work to be done. But we
• 14:48
Speaker 6: have to be realistic, and we have to be realistic
• 14:50
Speaker 6: of not getting too far ahead of ourselves and building
• 14:55
Speaker 6: something that we can't afford. And so if we're going
• 14:58
Speaker 6: to build it, we're going to make sure that we
• 14:59
Speaker 6: do it we responsibly, and that's why we're pausing.
• 15:02
  Speaker 3: We're reevaluating.
• 15:03
Speaker 6: But at the end of the day, we know having
• 15:05
Speaker 6: a sports complex in Charleston is going to be a
• 15:09
Speaker 6: game changer for this community, for this county, for the state.
• 15:13
Speaker 6: But it doesn't mean that all the great things that
• 15:15
Speaker 6: we've done haven't moved this needle in the right direction.
• 15:18
Speaker 6: I see in the future Kennall County being the capital
• 15:22
Speaker 6: of the world for outdoor recreation. Nowhere in this United
• 15:27
Speaker 6: States can you find a urban area like Charleston that
• 15:32
Speaker 6: you're fifteen minutes away from backwoods right and you can
• 15:36
Speaker 6: literally fifteen minute drive be at the largest trail system
• 15:41
Speaker 6: for ATVs, side by sides, dirt bikes, with the Appalachian
• 15:44
Speaker 6: Outlaw Trails twenty minutes away, you can be at the
• 15:47
Speaker 6: largest dirt bike park east of the Mississippi. You don't
• 15:53
Speaker 6: see those things anywhere else. We have a real opportunity
• 15:56
Speaker 6: with low hanging fruit, to be that capital where people
• 15:59
Speaker 6: go when they think tourism, they think side bay sides,
• 16:02
Speaker 6: they think dirt bikes, they think walking trails, they think hikes.
• 16:05
Speaker 6: They're going to thank Canall County and that's our goal.
• 16:08
Speaker 6: That's what we're doing with our Conventions Visitors Bureau, That's
• 16:11
Speaker 6: what this county has been doing for years now, and
• 16:14
Speaker 6: having the Capital City Sports Complex will be the icing
• 16:17
Speaker 6: on the cake. But again, we're going to do it
• 16:19
Speaker 6: right and we're going to do it fiscally responsible.

  Speaker 3: Gotcha.
• 19:47
Speaker 5: Hey, If you hear that sound, that buzz and static,
• 19:51
Speaker 5: you know what that is. That's the Internet trying to
• 19:52
Speaker 5: connect in West Virginia. What's what's up with the latest
• 19:56
Speaker 5: on the Internet's mister Macklhenny, we don't have it. Okay, thanks, thanks,
• 20:02
Speaker 5: thanks for being here.
• 20:03
Speaker 3: Now what do you got.
• 20:05
Speaker 11: Well, West Virginia has long been in need both for
• 20:10
Speaker 11: and so who would like to connect, but also for businesses,
• 20:15
Speaker 11: including entrepreneurs. I mean, you know, one thing the pandemics
• 20:18
Speaker 11: showed us is that if people are properly equipped, they
• 20:21
Speaker 11: can do their work from home and maybe start their
• 20:25
Speaker 11: own business or side business or whatever. And having greater
• 20:29
Speaker 11: connectivity in West Virginia would be a long sought blessing.
• 20:35
Speaker 11: West Virginia officials felt really good and confident about a
• 20:41
Speaker 11: federal Internet expansion program that began under the Biden administration. Uh,
• 20:48
  Speaker 11: there's a new there's a new sheriff in town. Though,
• 20:50
Speaker 11: and President Trump and his administration in particular Commerce Secretary
• 20:54
Speaker 11: of Lutnik have have paused the program just to reassess it.
• 20:59
Speaker 11: And it may be fine, maybe, you know, just just
• 21:03
Speaker 11: a matter of all right, we're going to take a
• 21:04
Speaker 11: look at this. But the thing is, West Virginia was
• 21:08
Speaker 11: you know, right at the right at the touchdown yard marker,
• 21:12
Speaker 11: right right ready to score, had had gotten most of
• 21:16
Speaker 11: its plan together and felt like, all right, we are,
• 21:20
Speaker 11: you know, just within a lightning strike of getting uh,
• 21:26
Speaker 11: you know, millions of dollars to expand West Virginia Internet
• 21:33
Speaker 11: to underserved and unserved communities. Senator Capito is frustrated by
• 21:39
Speaker 11: this by this pause, She both sent a letter to
• 21:44
Speaker 11: Lutnik asking him to expedite the review uh and and
• 21:48
Speaker 11: to move ahead with things, and then talked about this
• 21:52
Speaker 11: delay in a meeting with reporters from West Virginia late
• 21:57
Speaker 11: last week. This was just a broad ranging, regular Capital briefing,
• 22:01
Speaker 11: but this was one of the top topics on her mind.
• 22:04
Speaker 11: She said, there's a whold on our application right now.
• 22:07
Speaker 11: Capital said we were six weeks away from having our
• 22:09
Speaker 11: application approved so that we could begin work turn the
• 22:13
Speaker 11: door to get the last of these broadband connections to everybody.
• 22:16
Speaker 11: And then she concluded her statements to West Virginia reporters
• 22:20
Speaker 11: by saying, I'm very frustrated.
• 22:23
Speaker 5: Well, you know, and Brad, those of us.
• 22:26
Speaker 11: That live people could be listening to you streaming right
• 22:28
Speaker 11: now if we just had better broadbands.
• 22:31
Speaker 5: Well, I don't know if anybody wants to see that,
• 22:32
Speaker 5: but I will say this, you know, here in the
• 22:35
Speaker 5: Canal Valley for the most part, we're very fortunate. And
• 22:38
Speaker 5: there may be people listening to us here Kanah Putnam
• 22:40
Speaker 5: surrounding areas. I'm thinking, what are these guys talking about.
• 22:44
Speaker 5: You go to certain areas of this state. I want
• 22:46
Speaker 5: to go ahead and hazard to say the majority of
• 22:49
Speaker 5: the state you go to, you're going to struggle with
• 22:53
Speaker 5: not only internet, you're going to struggle with cell phone.
• 22:55
Speaker 5: I mean, you know where, God bless her, where my
• 22:58
Speaker 5: stepmother lives. And granted it is kind of a it
• 23:02
Speaker 5: is kind of fur piece removed where she lives. If
• 23:06
Speaker 5: it rains, she doesn't have a landline in her house.
• 23:09
Speaker 5: If it rains like to rain, like we had to
• 23:10
Speaker 5: roll through the Kanal Valley by an hour ago. I
• 23:12
Speaker 5: promise you I try to call her right now. She
• 23:14
Speaker 5: has no phone and that's where we are. She has
• 23:17
Speaker 5: no landline cell phones, that's not even an issue. She
• 23:19
Speaker 5: hasn't had internet in months, and there's a variety of
• 23:23
Speaker 5: reasons for that, and the companies will tell you, Look,
• 23:26
Speaker 5: it is not economically feasible for us to go in
• 23:29
Speaker 5: and provide internet to all those people. And I understand that,
• 23:34
Speaker 5: but I also understand that if we are a state
• 23:37
Speaker 5: that fancies ourselves, as you well know, Brad, and we
• 23:40
Speaker 5: hear all of our elected officials say we want we
• 23:42
Speaker 5: want these people. Now that after COVID and now that
• 23:44
Speaker 5: everybody's you know, living in a remote world and nobody
• 23:46
Speaker 5: has to go into the office anymore. We want people
• 23:49
Speaker 5: to come to West Virginia, to work here, to play here,
• 23:52
Speaker 5: to raise their families here, whatever. We want them here.
• 23:54
Speaker 5: Because when they're not working, they can go to the
• 23:56
Speaker 5: New River Gorge, they can go four wheeling, or they
• 23:58
Speaker 5: can do whatever else we want to do. We got
• 24:01
Speaker 5: to get this figured out in West Virginia, and but
• 24:04
Speaker 5: it comes and God bless Kelly Workman and those folks
• 24:06
Speaker 5: that are doing all they can. I know, on the
• 24:08
Speaker 5: state wide level, we got to look at Washington and
• 24:11
Speaker 5: say something's got to happen here. I mean, you know,
• 24:13
Speaker 5: does that meant to editorializing too much?
• 24:17
  Speaker 11: No, I don't think so. And I think you're right
• 24:19
Speaker 11: that in the canav Valley it's easy to forget that
• 24:22
Speaker 11: much of the rest of the state is unserved or underserved.
• 24:26
  Speaker 11: And you know, I mean it's it's not only I
• 24:28
Speaker 11: think Internet for residential use, whether it's streaming Netflix or
• 24:34
Speaker 11: Prime or whatever, but also trying to to encourage the
• 24:41
Speaker 11: kind of business development that relies on reliable Internet, whether
• 24:47
Speaker 11: that's a company or whether it's you know, you could
• 24:52
Speaker 11: you could live very near the kind of beautiful locations
• 24:56
Speaker 11: you've described, the New River Gorge or Canaane Valley or whatever,
• 25:01
Speaker 11: and this day and age, you could potentially do your
• 25:05
Speaker 11: own business or have your own business on the side
• 25:09
Speaker 11: if you could just connect properly. And that's the challenge
• 25:12
Speaker 11: that Westerga continues to face. I mean, some of the
• 25:15
Speaker 11: callers or textures or whoever may say, well, what about Starling,
• 25:19
Speaker 11: what about satellite Internet, and that that could be an answer,
• 25:22
Speaker 11: you know, for residential customers. But I think for the
• 25:27
Speaker 11: kind of business reliability that we're talking about, it requires,
• 25:32
Speaker 11: you know, probably a more fiber based, reliable signal.
• 25:36
Speaker 5: The day violand showing five Vitty Live is brought to
• 25:38
  Speaker 5: you apart by Jute j O o T security system
• 25:41
Speaker 5: that is protected by Jute dot com or follow them
• 25:43
Speaker 5: on Facebook and I'll say this and we'll move on,
• 25:47
Speaker 5: you know it. And people hear the term internet and
• 25:50
Speaker 5: they think, well, it's just something for entertainment. Look, if
• 25:52
Speaker 5: you don't have quality Internet, you can't you can't run
• 25:54
Speaker 5: a business at all, period. And Internet is the water
• 25:59
Speaker 5: slash gas slash sewage of the mid twentieth century. That's
• 26:06
Speaker 5: where it is. I saw this kind of caught my interest, Brad.
• 26:10
Speaker 5: I saw where the governor is advertising for I'm quoting
• 26:14
Speaker 5: here top talent to join our official team in Charleston, energetic,
• 26:19
Speaker 5: detail oriented individuals who thrive in a fast paced environment
• 26:23
Speaker 5: to help with the mountain steak comeback. And I saw
• 26:27
Speaker 5: that last night, saw that it was posted on the
• 26:30
Speaker 5: Governor's pages, and I thought, well, you know, this whole
• 26:33
Speaker 5: radio thing doesn't work out, maybe I've got a future.
• 26:36
Speaker 11: Oh yeah, And you know, the nature of the ad
• 26:39
Speaker 11: is very inspiring. Who wouldn't be for you know, West
• 26:43
Speaker 11: Virginia's rise to be the city and the mountains? What
• 26:47
Speaker 11: is the the state in the mountains? The yeah, whatever,
• 26:51
Speaker 11: It's incredibly inspirational, except that I can't remember the specific
• 26:56
Speaker 11: and seeing a specific I looked at that, and I
• 26:58
Speaker 11: will tell you that will not be me just to
• 27:01
Speaker 11: lay that on the table. But I did take a
• 27:04
Speaker 11: look at it. First thing I thought was, well, who laughs,
• 27:06
Speaker 11: who's he trying to replace? I don't know the answer
• 27:09
Speaker 11: to that. Maybe no one maybe someone I have no idea,
• 27:13
Speaker 11: but then you get down into it and it encourages
• 27:16
Speaker 11: you to apply, but doesn't really say what you're applying for.
• 27:20
Speaker 5: Well, you just got to be energetic into tail oriented.
• 27:25
Speaker 11: Students or anything else except for that level of inspiration.
• 27:29
Speaker 5: So that's again, if you're interested in that position, you
• 27:32
Speaker 5: can you can you know, log onto the governor, social
• 27:35
Speaker 5: media and elsewhere that'll take you to it. I did
• 27:37
Speaker 5: think it was interesting though that they said that they
• 27:39
Speaker 5: might and I'm kind of paraphrasing here, they must be
• 27:41
Speaker 5: able to work in Charleston, which I look, I completely understand. Uh,
• 27:45
Speaker 5: but you don't see a lot of jobs that said,
• 27:46
Speaker 5: because normally with most job seekers these days, they say
• 27:50
Speaker 5: can I work from home? And obviously this kind of
• 27:52
Speaker 5: job you're gonna have to be around the Charleston area.
• 27:54
Speaker 5: And again with this governor, we have seen he's at
• 27:56
Speaker 5: the capitol and he's certainly traveling around the state of
• 27:59
Speaker 5: West Virginia, and not just to give out checks. He's
• 28:01
Speaker 5: actually doing this stuff. He's actually a part of I
• 28:04
Speaker 5: don't know, I just thought that was I thought that
• 28:07
Speaker 5: was entry. I saw that last night on the socials.
• 28:09
Speaker 5: As the kids would say, all right, what else are
• 28:11
Speaker 5: you working on today, sir?
• 28:15
Speaker 11: You know, the governor I think, does have a briefing
• 28:18
Speaker 11: in the Parkersburg area. He and his staff do a
• 28:23
Speaker 11: great job of letting you know he'll be somewhere, but
• 28:26
Speaker 11: not letting you know what they will be there about.
• 28:30
Speaker 11: So that remains a little bit of a mystery talk
• 28:33
Speaker 11: line which is coming up as Congressman Riley Moore. Of course,
• 28:38
Speaker 11: I made some jokes about the federal budget reconciliation when
• 28:41
Speaker 11: we first began, but it is a big week in
• 28:44
Speaker 11: Washington regarding federal finances, extension of the Trump tax cuts
• 28:49
Speaker 11: from twenty seventeen, some tinkering with medicaid that I am
• 28:54
Speaker 11: still trying to understand to be able to afford the
• 28:58
Speaker 11: continuation of those cuts. So perhaps Congressman More can let
• 29:04
Speaker 11: us know a little bit more about what he's thinking.
• 29:06
Speaker 5: All right, we'll be listening for you, and we'll be
• 29:09
Speaker 5: reading you. And because we have quality internet here in
• 29:13
Speaker 5: the Kanaw Valley, that won't be an issue.
• 29:17
Speaker 11: That is great and I am relieved, and you know,
• 29:20
Speaker 11: for the folks around the rest of the stage, hopefully
• 29:24
Speaker 11: you at least have good sell service.
• 29:25
Speaker 5: All right, Brad, always a pleasure, my friend. We'll talk
• 29:28
  Speaker 5: again soon.
• 29:29
  Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.

Speaker 5: for them to run Internet. So Dave alludes to the
• 33:44
Speaker 5: federal government footy, the bill to install internets. That's not
• 33:47
Speaker 5: exactly what Dave said. Texas some more context for Trump's

Speaker 5: state corruption? Where's the outrage magus? You know, if Biden's
• 34:13
Speaker 5: name were on all this, you all would have an
• 34:14
Speaker 5: aneurism as a texture. Tim Brady, who frequently calls his aneurysms,
• 34:20
Speaker 5: but I don't know that he actually has them, is
• 34:21
Speaker 5: with us in studio and how you doing, man.
• 34:23
Speaker 17: Man, I'm great, I'm great. We are just days away
• 34:27
Speaker 17: from you know, amazing cycling racing in the city. Of Charleston.
• 34:32
Speaker 17: But before we talked that, I actually wanted to tell
• 34:34
Speaker 17: you thank you. I learned something from your radio program
• 34:37
  Speaker 17: this morning.
• 34:37
  Speaker 3: Wow.
• 34:38
Speaker 17: Yeah, so I you know, you and I talked a
• 34:41
Speaker 17: lot about tourism and tourism related things. You're on the
• 34:44
Speaker 17: board of Directors at Putnam County and their CVB.
• 34:47
Speaker 5: Let it be known for the record, I'm the president.
• 34:49
Speaker 5: You are the el presidente for for one more month.
• 34:52
Speaker 5: My tournaments next month, But go ahead.
• 34:53
Speaker 17: But you know, we've often said that tourists don't care
• 34:56
Speaker 17: about municipal boundary lines, while I found out this morning
• 34:58
Speaker 17: neither do feral cats. Yeah, the go there you go,
• 35:00
Speaker 17: So thank you, Lance Wheeler.
• 35:02
Speaker 5: I foresee pamphlets, brochors going out attention. Feral cats don't
• 35:07
Speaker 5: like it in this county, go to that county.
• 35:09
  Speaker 7: You know.
• 35:10
Speaker 5: It could be the official the official symbol of the
• 35:13
Speaker 5: of the Charleston tv B could be a feral cat.
• 35:16
Speaker 5: It might already be all right, all right, So next
• 35:19
  Speaker 5: week bike's coming to town. Yes, sir, there's a there's
• 35:23
  Speaker 5: a smooth transition. There's why you're a pro. There's a
• 35:26
Speaker 5: there's a smooth transition coming to town.
• 35:27
Speaker 17: Twenty twenty five USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships begin
• 35:31
Speaker 17: Monday in the city of Charleston, run for eight straight days.
• 35:34
Speaker 17: We've got para athletes this year. The whole thing kicks
• 35:38
Speaker 17: off with para cycling road races. Riders of different don't
• 35:42
Speaker 17: know what part are riders of different physical abilities. Some
• 35:45
Speaker 17: of them are they don't have arms, they don't have legs.
• 35:48
Speaker 17: They there are blind cyclists, so you you've got all
• 35:52
Speaker 17: types of different uh, mechanisms that they ride. So these
• 35:57
Speaker 17: are these are paralyzed pair of athletes. Uh, competing in
• 36:01
Speaker 17: the city of Charleston. Uh, that's gonna be great.
• 36:03
  Speaker 4: Uh.
• 36:03
Speaker 17: They have road races on Monday. They've got time trials
• 36:06
Speaker 17: on Tuesday, and then the uh the other categories of
• 36:11
Speaker 17: cyclists begin on Tuesday and and run through Memorial Day, all.
• 36:15
Speaker 5: Right, and again, when can people expect for the folks
• 36:19
Speaker 5: to start? I mean, I know you guys are already
• 36:20
Speaker 5: preparing here, but when can we start seeing like, you know,
• 36:22
Speaker 5: the the trailers come in, the people coming in. When
• 36:25
Speaker 5: can we expect the population of Charleston to basically triple
• 36:29
Speaker 5: triple might be a strong word, but actually there are
• 36:31
Speaker 5: some of them are already in town.
• 36:33
Speaker 17: You know, anecdotally, I can tell you that we've seen
• 36:36
Speaker 17: teams and individual riders practicing on the hills on Bridge
• 36:39
Speaker 17: Road and over on Worts Avenue. There was a family
• 36:42
Speaker 17: from Europe that's in for the cycling races that were
• 36:45
Speaker 17: up at Lola's over the weekend and I think drank
• 36:49
Speaker 17: the place out of Pironi. That's a true story, as
• 36:52
Speaker 17: I'm told. But they're already here. But we'll see Penis start.
• 36:55
Speaker 5: A choice, by the way, it's one of my favorite beers.
• 36:57
Speaker 5: It's not a bad choice, it does it does show
• 36:59
Speaker 5: that good taste. Yeah, they'll start.
• 37:02
Speaker 17: A lot of folks will start coming in this week Thursday,
• 37:04
  Speaker 17: Friday Saturday.
• 37:06
  Speaker 3: You will start.
• 37:06
Speaker 17: Seeing construction of the start finished trusts begin on Friday afternoon.
• 37:12
Speaker 17: After five o'clock Friday evening, you'll see construction of the
• 37:16
Speaker 17: start finish line area in front of the four points begin,
• 37:19
Speaker 17: uh and fencing will start going up over the weekend.
• 37:21
  Speaker 3: So you'll really.
• 37:21
Speaker 17: Start to see it develop Friday, Saturday Sunday in preparation
• 37:26
Speaker 17: for for racing on Monday.
• 37:27
Speaker 5: And one of the things that people most well, I
• 37:30
Speaker 5: guess one of the most frequently asked questions that I
• 37:32
Speaker 5: get you get, the city gets and whatever is if
• 37:34
Speaker 5: maybe and everybody loves that this thing is coming to town,
• 37:37
Speaker 5: it's just, you know, a unbelievable the amount of people
• 37:40
Speaker 5: that are going to be here and the amount of
• 37:42
Speaker 5: money it's going to bring in. And you mentioned the restaurants,
• 37:44
Speaker 5: Lolas and all the others are going to be very
• 37:45
Speaker 5: happy about that is How does it affect the person
• 37:47
Speaker 5: that lives in Charleston. I mean, you know, I work
• 37:50
Speaker 5: at a I work at it. Well, I do work
• 37:51
Speaker 5: at thentown Charleston, but work at a law office downtown.
• 37:54
Speaker 5: What am I going to see? I'm a drive into
• 37:56
Speaker 5: work Monday through Friday next week or so.
• 37:59
Speaker 17: By and large, what you're going to see is very
• 38:01
Speaker 17: little disruption, especially if you're not on the boulevard. I
• 38:04
Speaker 17: will say that I hope that we built up some
• 38:06
Speaker 17: trust and goodwill last year because we communicated a plan,
• 38:10
Speaker 17: we had a plan, we worked the plan, and we
• 38:12
Speaker 17: kept the disruptions to a minimum, and we want to
• 38:14
Speaker 17: reapply that formula this year. I can't say enough about
• 38:17
Speaker 17: the Charleston Police Department, Charleston Public Works, Street Department all
• 38:23
Speaker 17: pitching in to help every department in the city of
• 38:27
Speaker 17: Charleston somehow participates in the execution of this race, and
• 38:30
Speaker 17: they're wonderful. But we had a good plan and most
• 38:35
Speaker 17: of the road closures, unless you're right down in the
• 38:37
Speaker 17: heart of it on the boulevard, are not hard closures.
• 38:39
Speaker 17: They're rolling closures, meaning that when we have the opportunity,
• 38:43
Speaker 17: we can flow traffic. So by and large, our hope
• 38:47
Speaker 17: is that if you see any disruption, it's minimal and
• 38:49
Speaker 17: it's you know, maybe give yourself ten or fifteen extra
• 38:51
Speaker 17: minutes to get to work. But we've tried to make
• 38:55
Speaker 17: this plan to the point where people can get where
• 38:59
Speaker 17: they need to get to it just take them a
• 39:00
  Speaker 17: little long.
• 39:01
Speaker 5: What about in the residential neighborhoods, what can those people expect?
• 39:04
Speaker 17: So the residential neighborhoods impacted most are if you think
• 39:07
Speaker 17: about the Saturday, Sunday Monday races, the climbs on Wartz
• 39:11
Speaker 17: Avenue and then coming back down Oak Ridge in Greenbrier,
• 39:14
Speaker 17: and then you've also got the climb of Bridge Road
• 39:16
Speaker 17: and then the descent of Louden Heights and again those
• 39:19
Speaker 17: are rolling closures. So as the peloton or pack of
• 39:22
Speaker 17: riders goes through, obviously we shut down the streets there's
• 39:25
Speaker 17: no traffic. But once the pack has gone through, we
• 39:28
Speaker 17: know we've got twenty to twenty five minutes to flow
• 39:31
Speaker 17: traffic and get people in and out before the race
• 39:34
Speaker 17: comes back around on the circuit. So those residents again
• 39:38
Speaker 17: in those neighborhoods, give yourself a little extra time, you know,
• 39:41
Speaker 17: fifteen twenty extra minutes on a Saturday, Sunday, Monday to
• 39:44
Speaker 17: get where you need to go. But our goal and
• 39:47
Speaker 17: our hope is that everybody gets where they need to
• 39:49
Speaker 17: go with as little disruption as possible.
• 39:52
Speaker 5: I mean, and that's what you know. Last some of
• 39:54
Speaker 5: the ques, it really wasn't people complaining, they were just questioning,
• 39:57
Speaker 5: Like you know, on a Saturday afternoon, I'm just picking
• 40:00
Speaker 5: times out of there. Here tim three o'clock on a
• 40:02
Speaker 5: Saturday afternoon, my kids got a Little league game. I
• 40:04
Speaker 5: need to be able to get out. You should probably
• 40:06
Speaker 5: plan accordingly. And where is the best place to go
• 40:09
Speaker 5: to get all this information? Because I know you guys
• 40:11
Speaker 5: put it all out there social media, whatever. Where is
• 40:13
Speaker 5: the best place to go to get to get the guidelines?
• 40:16
Speaker 17: So if you go to CHARLESTONWV dot com on our
• 40:18
Speaker 17: home page and you click to the link to the
• 40:21
Speaker 17: bike race information. All of the maps in the schedule
• 40:24
Speaker 17: for the races are there. The City of Charleston website
• 40:27
Speaker 17: also has very detailed information on road closures. Checked it
• 40:31
Speaker 17: this morning and it's up to date. So between the
• 40:35
Speaker 17: CVB website, CHARLESTONWV dot com, and the City of Charleston's website,
• 40:39
Speaker 17: you can find the information that you need. And you know, again,
• 40:44
Speaker 17: you know, last year was funny. There was a lot
• 40:46
Speaker 17: of anticipatory grief going into the event. As the way
• 40:49
Speaker 17: I would put it, a lot of people were worried
• 40:51
Speaker 17: and complaining and talking about the negative impacts. Once things
• 40:56
Speaker 17: got started. Last year, all of it disappeared. It just
• 40:59
Speaker 17: went away because again we had a plan, we worked
• 41:02
Speaker 17: the plan, and we followed through on what we said
• 41:03
Speaker 17: and I think that that, hopefully again that built up
• 41:05
  Speaker 17: some goodwill.
• 41:07
Speaker 5: I mean I mentioned, you know, of course, I work
• 41:09
Speaker 5: here on Virginia Street in Charleston. The Thursday night last year,
• 41:12
Speaker 5: I was subbing for Steve Annimal. We did a live
• 41:14
Speaker 5: broadcast in marw one on one on Capitol Street. We
• 41:16
Speaker 5: do that a couple of times a month. We had
• 41:19
Speaker 5: no issues whatsoever. Matter of fact, it was kind of cool.
• 41:21
Speaker 5: To be out there, you know, doing a live broadcast
• 41:23
Speaker 5: while all this is going on, and we're going to
• 41:25
Speaker 5: be all of our station gonna be a big part
• 41:26
Speaker 5: of it this year as well.
• 41:27
Speaker 17: Yeah, we've actually worked harder to engage on the radio
• 41:32
Speaker 17: side the West Virginia Radio Corporation stations this year. I
• 41:35
Speaker 17: know we've got a designated watch zone on Thursday and
• 41:38
Speaker 17: Friday nights during the Criterion Race. It's the corner of
• 41:41
Speaker 17: Coarier and Hail Streets. I know V one hundred they're
• 41:44
Speaker 17: going to have the watch zone there on those Thursday
• 41:47
Speaker 17: and Friday nights. I think Woody at the Bead is
• 41:49
Speaker 17: going to do some different things potentially down on Capitol
• 41:51
Speaker 17: Street from what I'm told. But I think we're what
• 41:55
Speaker 17: we've tried to do this year. You know, we figured
• 41:57
Speaker 17: it out last year. We got through last year, and
• 42:00
Speaker 17: then figure out where can we augment this, Where can
• 42:03
Speaker 17: we create some ancillary activity, create a more fun environment,
• 42:06
Speaker 17: so we can amplify what we did last year and
• 42:08
Speaker 17: make it more fun for the community this year. So
• 42:10
Speaker 17: we've got some watch zones, the V one hundred watch
• 42:12
Speaker 17: zone there at the corner of Courier and Hail. We've
• 42:16
Speaker 17: got a watch zone at the end of Capitol Street
• 42:17
Speaker 17: in partnership with Sam's and Groove and Blue Parrot and
• 42:22
Speaker 17: the bars and restaurants down there on that first block
• 42:24
Speaker 17: of Capitol Street. Of course, Live Claus is going to
• 42:26
Speaker 17: be a great place to watch the night races as well,
• 42:28
Speaker 17: working with Arts Amplified to create live music in the
• 42:31
Speaker 17: park Thursday and Friday nights and all day long Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
• 42:34
Speaker 17: Can't say enough nice things about Brian Cooper and the
• 42:36
Speaker 17: job he's done in helping to organize that. And then
• 42:40
Speaker 17: Emily Crouch and all the folks up at Bridge Road
• 42:42
Speaker 17: creating a watch zone at the shops of Bridge Road
• 42:45
Speaker 17: on Monday Memorial Day. That's going to be a great
• 42:48
Speaker 17: place to watch as well.
• 42:50
Speaker 5: All right, Tim, I know you've got a lot to do,
• 42:52
Speaker 5: and I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule today.
• 42:54
Speaker 5: Go ahead, I just do.
• 42:55
Speaker 17: I would be remiss if I left out of here
• 42:58
Speaker 17: without thanking just a couple of organizations I mentioned the
• 43:02
Speaker 17: City of Charleston, the support from Mary Amy Goodwin and
• 43:05
Speaker 17: her whole staff. This doesn't happen without their full support.
• 43:09
Speaker 17: This year, we've brought in a presenting sponsor in Spilman.
• 43:12
Speaker 17: Thomas in Battle, Mike Basil and all of the folks
• 43:16
Speaker 17: at Spilman have been a big part of planning this
• 43:18
Speaker 17: year's event, and their support has allowed us to create
• 43:22
Speaker 17: some of these other fun activities that we wanted to do,
• 43:24
Speaker 17: so really need to thank them. And then the other
• 43:27
Speaker 17: big partner in all of this, and there are a
• 43:30
Speaker 17: lot of partners, but I want to specifically call out
• 43:32
Speaker 17: CAMC and the CAMC Foundation. They provide all of our
• 43:35
Speaker 17: medical care for free in exchange for their sponsorship, and
• 43:40
Speaker 17: this doesn't happen without the complete and full buy in
• 43:43
Speaker 17: from the team at CAMC making sure that all of
• 43:45
Speaker 17: the writers stay safe. So I really just wanted to
• 43:48
Speaker 17: make sure before I get out of here today that
• 43:50
Speaker 17: I thank those three organizations specifically. There are a lot
• 43:53
Speaker 17: of others and I appreciate all of them, but those
• 43:57
Speaker 17: three organizations this does not happen without their support.
• 44:01
Speaker 5: Well, we're basically turning the station over to you next
• 44:04
Speaker 5: to oh Man, what is he? If you could see
• 44:06
Speaker 5: that on camera, what an evil grin he had there,
• 44:08
Speaker 5: it'll be all it'd be all wrestling talk, and bring
• 44:11
Speaker 5: Matt Sutton in. It'll just be it'll be terrible, but
• 44:13
Speaker 5: Adam Harris as well. All right, but yeah, we're gonna
• 44:16
Speaker 5: be talking a whole lot about this. I'm going to
• 44:17
Speaker 5: actually devote an entire show one day next week. Try
• 44:19
Speaker 5: to get the mayor in here and some of the
• 44:20
Speaker 5: other folks. Maybe I'd love to have some of the
• 44:22
Speaker 5: writers if they're or the sponsors or whomever on the show.
• 44:25
Speaker 17: I'd love to bring in the executive director of USA Cycling,
• 44:28
  Speaker 17: Brendan Quirk.
• 44:29
  Speaker 3: He's a great guy.
• 44:30
Speaker 17: I'd love to bring him in one day next week
• 44:32
Speaker 17: and let him talk about say and I just want to.
• 44:34
  Speaker 3: Say too, Dave.
• 44:36
Speaker 17: I really appreciated a lot of the things that that
• 44:38
Speaker 17: Commissioner Wheeler was saying while he was in here about
• 44:40
Speaker 17: outdoor recreation because this all ties together, this cycling race
• 44:44
Speaker 17: and some of the outdoor recreation development, and we're working
• 44:47
Speaker 17: on additional developments activities on the CVB side. It all
• 44:52
Speaker 17: goes hand in hand, and I think we all have
• 44:54
Speaker 17: a common goal of making Connaw County and Charleston the
• 44:58
Speaker 17: capital of outdoor recreation and this part of the country,
• 45:01
Speaker 17: and it's all of these things working together collaboratively to

Speaker 5: the news? Inflation is down, gas and food prices are down.
• 48:22
Speaker 5: Trump secured trade deals with the UK and China. Stock

Speaker 5: store here. Jeff has the story posted on the website.
• 48:55
Speaker 5: This morning. Police have now released the names of the
• 48:57
Speaker 5: four people that were involved in a double fatal Mother's

• 49:23
Speaker 5: Day morning Sunday. It's tragic story, and again Jeff has
• 49:26
Speaker 5: more posted about it at wv metronews dot com. Look
• 49:30
Speaker 5: who's here, it's our good buddy TJ.
• 49:32
  Speaker 2: Meadows.
• 49:33
Speaker 13: I must have missed the fact that pharmaceutical prices instantly
• 49:36
Speaker 13: went down yesterday by eighty percent.
• 49:37
Speaker 5: I was going to read this text to you to
• 49:39
Speaker 5: get your response. Let me read it to you again.
• 49:41
Speaker 5: Inflation is down. Okay, inflation is down, that's true. Gas
• 49:45
Speaker 5: and food prices are down.
• 49:47
  Speaker 3: Is gas down?
• 49:48
Speaker 5: I have to look at that one.
• 49:50
  Speaker 13: I don't know if I guess, well, I.
• 49:51
Speaker 5: Just did a big haul at the grocery store over
• 49:54
Speaker 5: the weekend. I would argue with some of that, some
• 49:56
Speaker 5: of the Trump secured trade deals with the UK China.
• 50:01
Speaker 13: And how come China gets as good a deal as
• 50:03
Speaker 13: the UK our long standing ally somebody answered that one
• 50:06
Speaker 13: for him. The stock market is up, Yes it is,
• 50:08
Speaker 13: but it was also artificially taken down.
• 50:11
Speaker 5: Trump secured the release of the American hostage from MAMAS.
• 50:14
Speaker 13: I haven't looked at that much, but I'm glad the
• 50:15
  Speaker 13: gentleman's out.
• 50:16
Speaker 5: And took on big pharma, cutting prescription prices by up
• 50:20
  Speaker 5: to eighty percent.
• 50:21
Speaker 13: This week hasn't happened yet. Announced his EO two, but
• 50:25
Speaker 13: nothing is dropped yet. Okay, this leand up, like this
• 50:28
Speaker 13: land up, like tariffs. They'll take a five percent haircut.
• 50:30
Speaker 13: He'll call it victory. We'll move on, all right.
• 50:34
Speaker 5: What else you got looking? What else you're looking at?
• 50:36
Speaker 13: So you know on today, I'm going to tell you what, man,
• 50:41
Speaker 13: there's not enough ram left for everything that's going on
• 50:44
Speaker 13: in the world right now. Jared Halprin joins us.
• 50:47
Speaker 5: Coming up at ten oh six, we'll talk.
• 50:49
Speaker 13: Actually, you know, what what did I do here?
• 50:53
Speaker 5: By the way, while you're looking up here, Tex says
• 50:56
Speaker 5: gas is down, but it literally just.
• 50:57
Speaker 13: Came down today. Okay, I'll have to go look at it.
• 51:00
Speaker 13: I know the RBOB the wholesale price is what I
• 51:02
Speaker 13: tend to watch a little bit. I think it was
• 51:04
Speaker 13: going to trade down a little bit, but you know,
• 51:06
Speaker 13: look look at it.
• 51:08
  Speaker 5: Look at oil.
• 51:09
Speaker 13: Let's see what happens with oil and if oil stays down,
• 51:11
Speaker 13: because oil has been down for a while now. So look,
• 51:17
Speaker 13: I didn't plan to talk about this president of the
• 51:19
Speaker 13: United States. I don't care Republican Democrat, Trump, Biden, whomever.
• 51:23
Speaker 13: They don't control the.
• 51:24
  Speaker 14: Price of oil.
• 51:24
Speaker 13: They don't control the price of commodities. I mean the
• 51:26
Speaker 13: market does that now. They can't they can't do anything
• 51:30
Speaker 13: to improve the price, but sometimes they can interfere and
• 51:33
Speaker 13: artificially screw it up. And I think that's what we've seen.
• 51:35
Speaker 13: So hopefully we're seeing a return to normal. And look,
• 51:38
Speaker 13: I'm not trying to hate on Trump, but I think
• 51:42
Speaker 13: you have to look at all of this stuff for
• 51:43
Speaker 13: what it is. We're casting these huge visions and we're
• 51:48
Speaker 13: settling for very very little. Somebody explained to me why
• 51:51
Speaker 13: China essentially gets a better deal than our long standing
• 51:54
Speaker 13: ally great Britain. Explain that to me, because I'm still
• 51:56
Speaker 13: stretching my head on that.
• 51:57
Speaker 5: I thank you. A lot of other people are, But
• 51:59
Speaker 5: to try living without Chinese products and see what happens're
• 52:02
Speaker 5: supposed to live without British products.
• 52:04
Speaker 13: Well, even Best said yesterday, we're not trying to decouple
• 52:06
Speaker 13: anymore because we can't.
• 52:07
Speaker 3: We're not ready for it.
• 52:09
Speaker 5: And maybe that's someone's fault, but we can't. All right,
• 52:11
Speaker 5: Quick text Trump reverse Biden's IRA A cap of insulin
• 52:14
Speaker 5: says it's extra. All right, we gotta leave it there.
• 52:16
Speaker 5: Coming up on the show tomorrow, Folks in the Mountain,
