- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to another episode of Learn German with Fexingo. Luna: Hey Lucas! So glad to be here. What are we diving into today? Lucas: Today we're going to talk about the days of the week in German. Perfect for planning your week. Luna: Oh, I've been wanting to learn that! I always mix up Montag and Dienstag. Lucas: We'll fix that. Let's start with a simple phrase: Am Montag arbeite ich. Luna: Am Montag arbeite ich. So that means 'On Monday I work'? Lucas: Exactly. Am Montag arbeite ich. Let's break it down. 'Am Montag' means 'on Monday', 'arbeite' is 'work', and 'ich' is 'I'. Luna: Am Montag arbeite ich. I like how it sounds. So if I want to say I have a German class on Tuesday? Lucas: Great follow-up. That would be: Am Dienstag habe ich Deutschkurs. Luna: Am Dienstag habe ich Deutschkurs. Hmm, that's a bit long. Can you say it again? Lucas: Sure. Am Dienstag habe ich Deutschkurs. 'Am Dienstag' is 'on Tuesday', 'habe ich' is 'I have', and 'Deutschkurs' is 'German class'. Luna: Am Dienstag habe ich Deutschkurs. Okay, I think I got it. So what about weekends? I love weekends. Lucas: Me too. Let's learn 'Am Samstag gehe ich einkaufen.' That means 'On Saturday I go shopping.' Luna: Am Samstag gehe ich einkaufen. Shopping, yes! And Sunday? I usually just relax. Lucas: Perfect for you: Am Sonntag entspanne ich mich. 'On Sunday I relax.' Luna: Am Sonntag entspanne ich mich. That rolls off the tongue. Entspanne ich mich. I like that. Lucas: And if you want to talk about the whole weekend, you can say 'Am Wochenende mache ich Sport.' That's 'On the weekend I do sports.' Luna: Am Wochenende mache ich Sport. So 'Wochenende' is 'weekend'? That's handy. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with German, remember that listener support is what keeps our episodes ad-free. I always forget that one. Lucas: Wednesday is Mittwoch. So you could say 'Am Mittwoch lerne ich Deutsch.' That means 'On Wednesday I learn German.' Luna: Am Mittwoch lerne ich Deutsch. That's a good one for us! Let's practice all of them again. Lucas: Great idea. Repeat after me: Am Montag arbeite ich. Am Dienstag habe ich Deutschkurs. Am Samstag gehe ich einkaufen. Am Sonntag entspanne ich mich. Am Wochenende mache ich Sport. Luna: Am Montag arbeite ich. Am Dienstag habe ich Deutschkurs. Am Samstag gehe ich einkaufen. Am Sonntag entspanne ich mich. Am Wochenende mache ich Sport. Whew, that's a lot! Lucas: You did great! And remember, you can mix and match these. For instance, 'Am Freitag gehe ich ins Kino.' Luna: Am Freitag gehe ich ins Kino. Oh, I love that! But wait, what about Thursday? I don't think we covered that. Lucas: Thursday is Donnerstag. You could say 'Am Donnerstag besuche ich meine Eltern.' That means 'On Thursday I visit my parents.' Luna: Am Donnerstag besuche ich meine Eltern. Nice. So now I can plan my whole week in German! Lucas: Exactly. And don't forget, practice these phrases until we meet again. See you next time! Luna: See you, Lucas! Auf Wiedersehen!
