Transcript
- 0:08Suze: January 11th, 2026. Welcome everybody to the Women and Money
- 0:13Suze: podcast and everybody smart enough to listen. Suze O here
- 0:18Suze: and today is Suze School, and this is the podcast
- 0:22Suze: that many of you have been waiting for. You have
- 0:26Suze: wanted to hear about what's gonna happen to money, what
- 0:30Suze: should you be investing in? Where is the economy going?
- 0:34Suze: You have been waiting and waiting cause it's a new year.
- 0:37Suze: So, everybody's making new projections, but I opened up this
- 0:41Suze: year not making new projections. I opened it up with
- 0:45Suze: telling you things that I really wanted you to know
- 0:47Suze: that had nothing to do really with, if the stock
- 0:50Suze: market went up or the stock market went down. It
- 0:53Suze: had to do with how you make more money out
- 0:56Suze: of the money you already have, which is really the
- 0:59Suze: focus of the Women and Money podcast.
- 1:03Suze: This isn't a podcast, everybody, if you're just joining us
- 1:06Suze: for the first time, where all we talk about is
- 1:10Suze: what you should invest in, what you should be buying,
- 1:12Suze: you should be selling the economy, we talk about you.
- 1:17Suze: It's personal finance. It's what do you personally need to
- 1:21Suze: know to make your life better. The things that nobody
- 1:26Suze: really wants to deal with a trust, a will, what
- 1:29Suze: kind of retirement account? Should you refinance your house? Should
- 1:33Suze: you even buy a house? Not is real estate going up,
- 1:36Suze: is real estate going down? No. Of course, we talk
- 1:39Suze: about some of those things, but not everything
- 1:44Suze: hat has to do with you being financially successful is
- 1:48Suze: about buying and selling stocks.
- 1:52Suze: So, just know that the other day I was interviewed
- 1:56Suze: by Kiplinger's magazine. I don't know when it's coming out,
- 1:59Suze: but that's all right, and they asked me something to
- 2:03Suze: the effect of, what is it that I would want
- 2:06Suze: everybody to know? Something like that. I don't remember the
- 2:08Suze: exact phrasing.
- 2:10Suze: And I said, the most important thing everybody should know
- 2:15Suze: is that you can never fix a financial problem with money.
- 2:20Suze: And so many of you think that your problem out there.
- 2:25Suze: It is all about not having as much money as
- 2:28Suze: you need or want or knowing what to do with
- 2:31Suze: your money or whatever it may be.
- 2:34Suze: You and your money are one. I've said this before,
- 2:37Suze: I'll say it forever. So if your money is a
- 2:41Suze: financial chaotic mess, it means you are a chaotic mess
- 2:46Suze: cause you're the one who controls your money.
- 2:50Suze: The other thing that I found a little bit fascinating
- 2:53Suze: is that as I was reading some of the posts
- 2:57Suze: on the Women and Money podcast wall, so there is
- 3:01Suze: a community app called Women and Money, and you can
- 3:04Suze: download it by going to Apple Apps or Google Play,
- 3:08Suze: and there's little boxes that you can search the podcast,
- 3:13Suze: you can do all kinds of things, but there's a
- 3:15Suze: wall where many people post, and I was reading a
- 3:18Suze: few of them.
- 3:19Suze: And people were saying, Suze, can you make this more
- 3:24Suze: for retired people? I feel like everything is still for
- 3:28Suze: people who are just working, and I'm now getting older.
- 3:32Suze: Don't talk to me about getting older. I'm gonna be 75.
- 3:35Suze: Right? But that I'm getting older and I need advice.
- 3:39Suze: What do I do now that I'm no longer working,
- 3:42Suze: now that I'm in my retirement years, what should I do?
- 3:47Suze: Listen to me very closely, everybody.
- 3:51Suze: What you do with money is not based simply on age.
- 3:57Suze: It's based on
- 4:00Suze: your economic situation. There are many, many people in retirement
- 4:06Suze: that don't worry about money because they've done everything I
- 4:10Suze: ever asked them to do over 30 or 40 years
- 4:12Suze: and now they have a lot of money, their home
- 4:15Suze: is paid off, everything is fine now they just kind
- 4:18Suze: of wanna know how do they keep it safe, what
- 4:20Suze: do they do, things like that. We talk about that
- 4:23Suze: all the time if you think about it. Maybe you're 33.
- 4:28Suze: And other 33 year olds are doing really great.
- 4:33Suze: And you're trying to keep up with them, I don't know,
- 4:36Suze: but you're a different 33 year old based on your
- 4:40Suze: economic situation, cause maybe you haven't been able to find
- 4:43Suze: a job or whatever it is. So, stop feeling like
- 4:47Suze: I'm in retirement. You need to talk to retirement people
- 4:51Suze: more than you're talking to others.
- 4:54Suze: And some of you on the actual app agreed with everybody. Yeah,
- 5:00Suze: I wanna hear more about what should I do now
- 5:02Suze: with my money that I'm in retirement.
- 5:05Suze: I was like, can you tell I got a little
- 5:07Suze: aggravated at all of you? I wanted to say, really?
- 5:11Suze: Do you think I haven't been talking directly to all
- 5:14Suze: of you? Of course I have. But if you are
- 5:18Suze: in your retirement years and you've done everything that I've
- 5:23Suze: ever asked you to do, you would be investing then
- 5:27Suze: like a 45 year old, a 55 year old. You
- 5:31Suze: wouldn't be investing because you were older if all your
- 5:35Suze: bases were covered.
- 5:39Suze: So, depends on your individual situation, what you need to know.
- 5:45Suze: And there's so much you need to know. There are
- 5:48Suze: basic rules.
- 5:50Suze: Own your home outright if you're going to stay in
- 5:52Suze: it forever by the time you retire. Make sure that
- 5:55Suze: you're totally out of debt. Downsize to decrease your expenses
- 5:59Suze: so that you can afford things. Cut out things if
- 6:03Suze: you don't have enough money. Maybe look into getting a
- 6:06Suze: guaranteed income source through an immediate annuity. There are so
- 6:10Suze: many things, and especially for you, for those of you
- 6:13Suze: 50 and older, my book,
- 6:16Suze: The Ultimate Retirement Guide for 50+. I wrote an entire
- 6:19Suze: book for all of you. Are you kidding me?
- 6:23Suze: By the way, I think if you go on the
- 6:25Suze: Women in Money app,
- 6:27Suze: and you look at the Suze shop. I think that
- 6:30Suze: book is there still for $10 and that includes shipping.
- 6:34Suze: Might want to check that out. Just know if you're
- 6:39Suze: needing something, I'll eventually get to it cause I do
- 6:42Suze: cover everything you need to know sooner than later when
- 6:47Suze: it comes to money regardless of your age, but
- 6:53Suze: today, I do want to give you an overview of
- 6:57Suze: what I think is happening in the economy and also
- 7:00Suze: kind of tell you why I just wanted to wait
- 7:03Suze: and not come out of the gate 11 days ago with,
- 7:07Suze: this is what I think, here's your new forecast for
- 7:09Suze: the year. I just wanted to see what was gonna happen.
- 7:13Suze: I just did. I wanted to see what we'd be
- 7:16Suze: affected by Venezuela because it was obvious that was going
- 7:19Suze: to happen.
- 7:21Suze: What was going to happen with ICE? What was gonna
- 7:23Suze: happen if something went wrong, and it did.
- 7:27Suze: So, I just wanted to see how would it affect
- 7:30Suze: the markets.
- 7:33Suze: Were the markets going up? Were they going down? What
- 7:35Suze: were they doing? What was AI doing? I just wanted
- 7:38Suze: to see things get a hold for me to be
- 7:42Suze: able to then say, OK.
- 7:45Suze: This is what I think, and now I'm gonna share
- 7:49Suze: it with you, so I want all of you to
- 7:51Suze: listen to me now.
- 7:53Suze: I just said it, but I'm going to say it again.
- 7:56Suze: There is so much noise right now about the markets,
- 8:00Suze: about politics, about interest rates, about what should I do,
- 8:04Suze: what shouldn't I do, AI, oil prices, elections, headlines, and
- 8:10Suze: in my opinion, they are all designed to scare you.
- 8:16Suze: And they scare you so badly, you don't even want
- 8:19Suze: to open your statements. You become this little thing that
- 8:22Suze: sticks their head in the sand and goes, I can't
- 8:25Suze: deal with anything. I can't watch TV. I don't want
- 8:27Suze: to see the news, I don't wanna do this, I
- 8:29Suze: don't wanna do it. I just don't wanna know, and
- 8:32Suze: you turn on HGTV.
- 8:36Suze: Well, that's what KT says. Can we just watch HGTV?
- 8:38Suze: Can we just stop watching the news? So, here is
- 8:42Suze: the truth though, that I want you to hear loud
- 8:46Suze: and clear from me.
- 8:48Suze: I personally believe that the foundation of this market remains
- 8:55Suze: strong and that the trends that matter most are still,
- 9:00Suze: in my opinion, working in your favor. I want to
- 9:04Suze: talk about the United States of America for a second,
- 9:08Suze: cause a lot of people are emailing and saying, Suze,
- 9:11Suze: don't you think we should invest overseas? Don't you think
- 9:14Suze: you should be recommending cause you never have some global
- 9:18Suze: investments and things like that?
- 9:20Suze: And the answer to that is no, I don't think so.
- 9:24Suze: I think that the United States is still the place
- 9:28Suze: of the most extraordinary opportunity out there, and it has
- 9:32Suze: nothing to do with politics.
- 9:36Suze: You have got to leave politics out of the decisions
- 9:40Suze: that you make with money. Have I not said to
- 9:43Suze: you that anger is the number one internal obstacle to
- 9:48Suze: wealth when you are angry, when you are afraid, when
- 9:51Suze: you are ashamed.
- 9:53Suze: You buy at the wrong time, you sell at the
- 9:56Suze: wrong time, your emotions rule you versus you ruling your emotions,
- 10:02Suze: and therefore you ruling your money.
- 10:05Suze: So, I personally believe that right here in the United
- 10:09Suze: States of America, when it comes to investing,
- 10:12Suze: I'm going to keep my money at home, just that simple.
- 10:18Suze: There's a lot going right in the markets and in companies,
- 10:23Suze: but there's a lot going wrong for many, many people
- 10:27Suze: out there. It is true that many of you are
- 10:31Suze: losing your jobs, you're losing your health insurance, you're losing
- 10:36Suze: all kinds of things. I get that.
- 10:40Suze: And I'm sorry to say that's not what this podcast
- 10:44Suze: today is about, cause those are serious, serious problems that
- 10:49Suze: I don't know how they're gonna fix. But sometimes what
- 10:53Suze: goes on, broad-based, doesn't necessarily believe it or not, reflect
- 10:59Suze: in the market.
- 11:01Suze: So the economy is one thing, the stock market is another,
- 11:07Suze: how you live, I'm repeating this now, how you are
- 11:11Suze: affected by what's going on and how you live and
- 11:14Suze: how it's affecting your personal lives is different for every
- 11:17Suze: single one of you. So I want you to keep
- 11:21Suze: in mind before I now go on to tell you
- 11:24Suze: what I think about just the stock market, about investments.
- 11:30Suze: I want you to keep in mind I so get
- 11:33Suze: how hard it is on many of you.
- 11:36Suze: But again I'm just talking about the markets here, number one.
- 11:44Suze: Number two, anything that you hear me say obviously can
- 11:47Suze: change if things in the world change because we're living
- 11:51Suze: in a very volatile time.
- 11:55Suze: When I tell you I like an ETF or a
- 11:58Suze: stock or something like that, rule of thumb is you
- 12:02Suze: are not to go out and rush and buy it.
- 12:06Suze: You are to throughout this entire year dollar cost average
- 12:11Suze: into everything little by little.
- 12:15Suze: And it's just that simple. So when you hear me say,
- 12:19Suze: I like such and such over this, I like this
- 12:22Suze: over that, which I'm going to say in a little bit,
- 12:25Suze: that doesn't mean tomorrow you go out and you just buy, buy, buy.
- 12:30Suze: You are to wait till these stocks go down, till
- 12:33Suze: the ETFs go down, cause this market is not gonna
- 12:37Suze: go straight up. This market is still gonna be a
- 12:40Suze: serious roller coaster.
- 12:43Suze: So when I give you pricing and things like that,
- 12:46Suze: I'm talking about probably by the end of the year.
- 12:50Suze: This is where many of those things will be, but
- 12:53Suze: they will not be there next week or two weeks
- 12:56Suze: from now. So if you are going to be investing
- 13:00Suze: in these markets.
- 13:02Suze: Just no, bottom line, they will go up and down.
- 13:07Suze: They're gonna go in and out, they're gonna go all
- 13:09Suze: over the place. We still have to deal with tariffs,
- 13:13Suze: they still have an effect on everything, so all of
- 13:16Suze: that has to be dealt with, but overall.
- 13:20Suze: This is what I want to tell you. I have
- 13:22Suze: noticed and I think will probably happen with certain areas
- 13:27Suze: of the market over the next year. And the number
- 13:32Suze: one rule of investing is you only invest with money
- 13:37Suze: that you do not need for at least five years
- 13:41Suze: or longer. When I say investing, that means in the
- 13:44Suze: stock market. So this is long term.
- 13:49Suze: Even if we have a bad year this year, it's OK.
- 13:52Suze: Years from now, everything, if you keep dollar cost averaging
- 13:57Suze: and have the patience to just stick it out, you
- 14:02Suze: should be fine. So with that, let's begin.
- 14:08Suze: What's interesting about what is changing right now, if you
- 14:12Suze: look at the big picture.
- 14:14Suze: Is that when I look at everything, I'm seeing a
- 14:18Suze: very broad-based expansion in the market. What do I mean
- 14:23Suze: by that? I'm not just seeing that a handful of
- 14:26Suze: tech stocks are just pulling everything higher and higher and higher,
- 14:31Suze: and if you weren't invested in those seven stocks or
- 14:33Suze: whatever they were, you really didn't make as much money
- 14:37Suze: as you could have, which depressed a lot of you.
- 14:41Suze: But what's happening right now really matters, everybody, because when
- 14:47Suze: growth spreads across financials, industrials, these are different areas of
- 14:52Suze: the market, all right?
- 14:54Suze: Financials, industrials, consumer spending, what else? Material, maybe, health care,
- 15:00Suze: small companies, value stocks, that tells me something very important.
- 15:07Suze: It tells me that this is not a fragile market,
- 15:11Suze: but this actually is a healthy one.
- 15:16Suze: Now, the other day, I went in and I have
- 15:18Suze: a CD somewhere, and it came due, and the person
- 15:23Suze: that I like dealing with was saying to me, Suze,
- 15:26Suze: do you want to renew for another three months, six months,
- 15:29Suze: one year, whatever it is, and I personally decided, all right,
- 15:33Suze: I'm going to renew for one for six months and
- 15:36Suze: then one for 12 months because it's possible interest rates
- 15:41Suze: are going to continue lower. Do I know if they're
- 15:44Suze: going to go lower or not? No. Do I understand
- 15:48Suze: anything about what the feds are going to do? Who
- 15:51Suze: even controls the feds? Do I understand any of that anymore? No.
- 15:55Suze: But when I don't know exactly, I split what I do.
- 16:01Suze: Six months, OK, gave me a little bit higher interest
- 16:03Suze: rate than a year, but if interest rates go down,
- 16:06Suze: at least I lock that money up for a year,
- 16:08Suze: and this was all very short term money. It was
- 16:12Suze: not long term, not for investment. It was just for
- 16:15Suze: me to see.
- 16:17Suze: What's happening, right? Cause as all of you know, we
- 16:19Suze: sold the island, so we have some money, more money
- 16:23Suze: to invest, so I just want to see what's really
- 16:26Suze: happening out there.
- 16:28Suze: So, yeah, lower interest rates possibly, lower mortgage rates, maybe
- 16:33Suze: a little bit, lower gas prices, most likely, a weaker dollar, probably,
- 16:40Suze: but all of that helps companies earn more money. And
- 16:45Suze: when companies earn more, guess what? Stock prices tend to
- 16:51Suze: follow now.
- 16:53Suze: This isn't me speculating. No, this is me just telling
- 16:57Suze: you what happens in history. Let's begin this investment outlook
- 17:04Suze: with the Standard and Poor's 500 index. The reason I
- 17:08Suze: like to start there is because out of all the
- 17:11Suze: indexes which are compiled of many, many stocks that are
- 17:15Suze: indicators of is this section going higher, how are we doing.
- 17:20Suze: I like the Standard and Poor's 500 index, and I
- 17:24Suze: really thought that last year it would finish at least
- 17:29Suze: between 7,000 and 7,400 if you remember. It almost got
- 17:34Suze: there but not quite. On Friday it closed, I think,
- 17:38Suze: at 6,966. OK, so we were almost there, not quite, but.
- 17:44Suze: I would not be surprised if in 2026,
- 17:50Suze: if we saw the Standard and Poor's 500 index hit
- 17:55Suze: at like 7,600 right in there, I would not be
- 17:59Suze: surprised if it even went as high as 8,000. However,
- 18:03Suze: only time will tell. Now, the reason that I like
- 18:08Suze: that is that the majority of you, if we're right,
- 18:12Suze: if that happens, and remember it's gonna go up, down,
- 18:14Suze: it's gonna do its thing.
- 18:16Suze: A lot of you are invested in the Standard and
- 18:20Suze: Poor's 500 index through a Standard and Poor's 500 index ETF.
- 18:26Suze: Whether it's VOO, SPLG, even VTI, which is even more expansive,
- 18:31Suze: you already are exposed to that.
- 18:35Suze: So, I like that for you, and the reason that
- 18:38Suze: I told you over the past year or so, wouldn't
- 18:41Suze: kill you to have 50% of your money in something
- 18:44Suze: like VOO, which is an ETF that invests in the
- 18:47Suze: Standard and Poor's 500 index, or SPLG, same thing.
- 18:52Suze: And then maybe go deeper into individual stocks that we
- 18:57Suze: named in the past, and I'll go through those again
- 19:00Suze: before this session is over. I thought that would give
- 19:03Suze: you the biggest bang for your buck. So, for me,
- 19:08Suze: I find this encouraging, and the reason
- 19:14Suze: that it makes me feel encouraged is because the Standard
- 19:18Suze: and Poor's 500 is going up without it relying on
- 19:23Suze: the Magnificent Seven.
- 19:26Suze: It means again that participation in this stock market is widening,
- 19:34Suze: and if it's widening in the stock market, it's because
- 19:37Suze: it's widening in the economy, and that means strength is spreading.
- 19:43Suze: So when markets broaden like this, I take it as
- 19:48Suze: a very bullish signal and again for those of you
- 19:52Suze: who don't know,
- 19:54Suze: when it's a bull, the market tends to go up.
- 19:56Suze: When it's a bear, the market tends to go down
- 20:00Suze: because you get eaten. But I'm feeling positive about it,
- 20:05Suze: just so you know. We all have to be very
- 20:09Suze: clear about something here, and I wanna talk about technology
- 20:13Suze: and artificial intelligence.
- 20:17Suze: I'm going to say it over and over again, just
- 20:20Suze: like I do most things in life. Artificial intelligence is
- 20:25Suze: not a trend.
- 20:27Suze: It is a transformation.
- 20:31Suze: Do you hear that?
- 20:34Suze: The semiconductor sector, which is the backbone of AI, it's
- 20:41Suze: those little chips and things that run everything, they remain essential.
- 20:49Suze: So these companies are no longer optional, they are the
- 20:53Suze: infrastructure of everything that is happening out there.
- 20:58Suze: And as I said a minute ago, now that we're
- 21:00Suze: seeing this strength expand beyond just those biggest names into
- 21:05Suze: other things like memory, analog chips, equipment makers, all of that.
- 21:10Suze: Again, I'm gonna go back to, if you own broad-based
- 21:16Suze: market funds such as the Standard and Poor's 500, which
- 21:20Suze: I already talked to you about, you already own this theme,
- 21:25Suze: cause the top holdings of the Standard and Poor's 500
- 21:30Suze: are the stocks, and again, that's exactly how most of
- 21:34Suze: you should be invested.
- 21:38Suze: But a lot of you are saying, Suze, how can
- 21:41Suze: this be true? I can't afford rent, I can't afford
- 21:45Suze: to buy a home. I can't afford to buy food.
- 21:49Suze: I can't afford to do all of these things. I
- 21:53Suze: understand that very well.
- 21:55Suze: And I understand that unemployment's a little crazy here. I
- 21:59Suze: understand inflation did not do what we wanted. I get
- 22:02Suze: that things are going up higher. I get that we
- 22:05Suze: don't even get as much for our money when we
- 22:07Suze: go out. Do you know, I love Taco Bell? Listen,
- 22:11Suze: I just love Taco Bell, and I don't have any
- 22:13Suze: problems saying it. And my favorite thing when I do
- 22:16Suze: get to go to Taco Bell, cause it's always a treat,
- 22:19Suze: is a bean burrito without cheese. So the other day,
- 22:23Suze: we were out, and I said, KT, let's go to
- 22:26Suze: Taco Bell. She said, OK, right? And we go to
- 22:30Suze: Taco Bell, I get my usual bean burrito without cheese,
- 22:34Suze: like I just told you. Now, I've been doing this
- 22:38Suze: for probably almost 40 years now, just so you know.
- 22:44Suze: And I know the size of a bean burrito. Not
- 22:48Suze: only was it more expensive than normal, but the size
- 22:52Suze: of it was, I swear, 25% littler than what a
- 22:58Suze: normal one would have been.
- 23:01Suze: And I'm like, oh well, that's great, you know, even
- 23:04Suze: if they're charging the same, they're giving less. So, I
- 23:07Suze: understand very well that the struggle that many of you
- 23:10Suze: are going through personally.
- 23:13Suze: And that is also what we try to deal with
- 23:15Suze: on the Women in Money podcast. However,
- 23:18Suze: Even if that is true.
- 23:22Suze: That doesn't mean that the markets
- 23:26Suze: aren't strong. Why is that? Because I have to tell you,
- 23:31Suze: regardless of how hard it is out there, what I
- 23:34Suze: don't understand is if it is so hard on you,
- 23:39Suze: why is the consumer still spending? I don't know. I
- 23:44Suze: don't know where that money is coming from. Are they
- 23:46Suze: putting it on their credit cards? Probably. I don't quite
- 23:49Suze: get it.
- 23:50Suze: But they are still out there, so the American consumer
- 23:55Suze: has not disappeared. And what's interesting is I find that
- 24:01Suze: probably investing in consumer discretionary stocks or ETFs more than
- 24:09Suze: traditional consumer staples
- 24:12Suze: is probably the way to go. What is a consumer discretionary, everybody?
- 24:19Suze: It's when the consumer has money,
- 24:22Suze: and they go out and they buy things that they
- 24:25Suze: don't absolutely need. It's at their discretion. A consumer staple
- 24:31Suze: is when you go out there and you have to
- 24:33Suze: buy toothpaste or whatever it is, it's something that you
- 24:37Suze: absolutely need. Now, there are incredibly strong consumer staple names
- 24:44Suze: like Procter and Gamble, and Walmart and Costco. I don't
- 24:48Suze: have a problem if you own those.
- 24:50Suze: However, there are also incredibly strong consumer discretionary stocks like Amazon, Tesla,
- 24:59Suze: Home Depot, things like that. For those of you who
- 25:04Suze: like ETFs better, exchange traded funds better than individual stocks,
- 25:09Suze: all right, consumer discretionary is XLY.
- 25:13Suze: Consumer staples are XLP, OK, if you even wanna venture there,
- 25:21Suze: but that's something that's possible. So this isn't about chasing things.
- 25:27Suze: This is about recognizing where everything is shifting to, and
- 25:32Suze: believe it or not, that's where it's shifting. Financials.
- 25:38Suze: I said this before, a little bit ago, but I
- 25:41Suze: have to tell you, I think banks are benefiting from AI,
- 25:47Suze: from all the scale, from efficiency of how they're doing everything,
- 25:51Suze: so therefore,
- 25:54Suze: Is it possible that there's money to be made in
- 25:57Suze: buying the ETFs that invest in big banks, symbol BKX
- 26:03Suze: or regional symbol for the ETF there is KRE. Very possible. So,
- 26:09Suze: it's another area that's just a little bit of a
- 26:12Suze: diversification away from AI and things like that.
- 26:18Suze: You gotta look at right now, the industrials and the
- 26:23Suze: transportation stocks. Think about this, industrial stocks, what our industry
- 26:28Suze: here is made up of.
- 26:31Suze: Transportation, how everything moves, all of those have hit new highs,
- 26:39Suze: and that tells me one thing.
- 26:42Suze: That economic activity is still moving just that simple.
- 26:49Suze: Next, let's talk about energy.
- 26:52Suze: Energy is very interesting here and a little bit difficult, however,
- 26:58Suze: I personally like utilities versus energy. While it's true that
- 27:05Suze: maybe we'll see oil and everything around 50, maybe even
- 27:09Suze: lower and then some, you know, companies are gonna benefit
- 27:12Suze: from it. Just for an overall view, I'm favoring the
- 27:17Suze: ETF XLU. These are symbols that I'm giving you, everybody...
- 27:22Suze: Over XLE, which was the energy ETF, and for a
- 27:29Suze: long time I liked the Energy ETF XLE. We started
- 27:34Suze: buying it, by the way, in March, I think it
- 27:36Suze: was of 2020, and we made a lot of money
- 27:39Suze: on that. But right now, if you're looking for other
- 27:42Suze: things to do, I'm just telling you I like utilities
- 27:47Suze: more than energy, but that's just me.
- 27:51Suze: Next, health care.
- 27:53Suze: Health care, believe it or not, is back and listen
- 27:57Suze: to me, everybody, because this matters to every one of you.
- 28:02Suze: Health care has quietly rebuilt itself. It's strong. Major health
- 28:08Suze: care indexes are approaching new highs. Big insurers, believe it
- 28:14Suze: or not, are stabilizing.
- 28:17Suze: And I told you this again before, biotech, yeah, biotech
- 28:22Suze: is beginning once again to show opportunity, and I told
- 28:27Suze: all of you to purchase the ETF XBI and, you know,
- 28:35Suze: it may be my favorite ETF of all.
- 28:39Suze: Right now, it just might be. So, when it starts
- 28:43Suze: to dip, that is when you want to buy. Now,
- 28:48Suze: let me just give you individual things cause I know
- 28:50Suze: you're saying, but Suze, do you still like Palantir? Do
- 28:53Suze: you still like IONQ? Yes, of course I do. Palantir,
- 28:58Suze: long term.
- 29:00Suze: It's something you want a dollar cost average into, and
- 29:03Suze: when it's taken down by the idiots out there, you
- 29:06Suze: might wanna buy more. So, I still like Palantir, I
- 29:10Suze: still like IONQ. I still like SMH, the ETF for
- 29:15Suze: semis at $389 like it, I think it should be bought.
- 29:20Suze: I like those things a lot. I like Nvidia.
- 29:25Suze: I like almost everything that I've told you about. I
- 29:28Suze: even like Amazon. I really do. I also like the
- 29:33Suze: ETF QQQ at 626. Don't be surprised if it ended
- 29:37Suze: the year around 760. So these are all things that
- 29:41Suze: I really like, but here's what's really important.
- 29:47Suze: I would not be afraid right now. Do not let
- 29:51Suze: what's going on in this world scare you out of
- 29:55Suze: making your money, make more money. I get it's not
- 29:59Suze: great when something goes down dramatically.
- 30:03Suze: But look at it as an opportunity versus a loss.
- 30:07Suze: You only lose when you've sold something. If you own something,
- 30:12Suze: and you still like what they're doing, you like their earnings,
- 30:16Suze: you like the company, you like where it can go
- 30:18Suze: in the future, just hold on. So, here's what I
- 30:23Suze: really want you all to remember.
- 30:26Suze: You do not need to trade to make money. You
- 30:30Suze: do not need to predict. You do not need to panic.
- 30:34Suze: Do you hear me? Here is what you need. You
- 30:39Suze: need diversification. You need patience, and you need a long
- 30:44Suze: term plan that you can stick with.
- 30:47Suze: Because when the market's broaden like they're doing now, costs
- 30:52Suze: come down, and when costs come down, guess what happens,
- 30:56Suze: everybody earnings improve. This isn't fear this is opportunity and
- 31:02Suze: as always I've told you, you wanna find the best
- 31:06Suze: financial adviser in the world, look in the mirror.
- 31:10Suze: Because what happens to your money directly affects the quality
- 31:13Suze: of your life, not a financial advisor's life, not my life,
- 31:17Suze: nobody's life but your own, and this is everything that
- 31:20Suze: you can learn and know what to do. It's just
- 31:25Suze: that simple overall, just a few more things, which is
- 31:30Suze: real estate.
- 31:32Suze: I do think depending on where you live, real estate
- 31:34Suze: prices might go up a little bit. I don't think
- 31:37Suze: you're gonna see the total escalation as you saw in
- 31:41Suze: the past years. So it's starting to be more of
- 31:44Suze: a buyer's market, in my opinion. Mortgage rates very possibly
- 31:49Suze: will come down to around 5.9%.
- 31:52Suze: And many of the people who have been hanging on
- 31:54Suze: to their homes simply because they have a 2 or 3%
- 31:58Suze: interest rate may realize they're never gonna see 2 or 3% again,
- 32:02Suze: so they may start to move rents, because many places
- 32:05Suze: are building more and more rental things. Rents could probably
- 32:10Suze: be negotiated, something for you to think about if you're
- 32:14Suze: renewing a lease where you are renting. Bitcoin.
- 32:19Suze: Bitcoin up, down, just hold on for dear life. Its
- 32:23Suze: future is there, it's not quite there yet, but just
- 32:28Suze: if you're doing it, hold on again. I like buying
- 32:31Suze: Bitcoin through the ETF iBit, IBIT. A lot of people
- 32:36Suze: buy it directly. There's all kinds of ways to buy it.
- 32:39Suze: It's a way that you can participate if you want.
- 32:43Suze: Gold and silver, I don't know.
- 32:46Suze: I don't know, they've gone up dramatically here. Maybe they'll
- 32:49Suze: go up more, maybe not. Again, if you want a
- 32:53Suze: little bit of your portfolio in there, OK, I favor Bitcoin,
- 32:56Suze: by the way, over gold or silver, but it's just,
- 32:59Suze: if you're gonna buy gold, can you just do me
- 33:02Suze: a favor? Don't buy the actual commodity itself.
- 33:07Suze: Once you own the actual commodity, somebody can steal it.
- 33:11Suze: If you go to sell it, can you just tell
- 33:13Suze: me how you're gonna sell it? You have to go
- 33:15Suze: have it re-assayed to make sure that you didn't drill
- 33:17Suze: out the middle of the bar. It's not that easy.
- 33:21Suze: You wanna buy a few coins? OK. But if you
- 33:24Suze: really wanna do it, then buy an ETF GLD or
- 33:28Suze: whatever it may be. Just know, I think there's better
- 33:31Suze: money to be made elsewhere.
- 33:34Suze: I personally still love dividend paying stocks that will pay
- 33:38Suze: you income, I think as time goes on, the way,
- 33:42Suze: especially if you are in retirement years, is not to
- 33:47Suze: necessarily buy bonds, and that's how you invest when you
- 33:50Suze: get older, no.
- 33:52Suze: As time goes on and you are older and you're
- 33:55Suze: looking for income, dividend paying stocks that are good quality,
- 33:59Suze: that pay you a good dividend along with some of
- 34:02Suze: your money invested purely for growth, that will be your
- 34:06Suze: key to be able to sustain yourself when it comes
- 34:10Suze: to retirement. So, there are so many more things that
- 34:14Suze: I can talk to you about, but that's why we
- 34:16Suze: have another year
- 34:18Suze: of the Women in Money podcast, and I don't have
- 34:20Suze: to do it all at once. All right. So, until
- 34:25Suze: Thursday when Miss Travis joins us again.
- 34:29Suze: And tonight is another episode of Landman. In fact, it's
- 34:33Suze: probably on right now. If you haven't watched that series,
- 34:38Suze: you might wanna watch it. One of our favorite things
- 34:41Suze: that we have seen. OK. Until next Thursday, there's only
- 34:47Suze: one thing that I want you to remember, and it
- 34:48Suze: is this people first, then money, then things. Now you
- 34:54Suze: stay safe. Bye-bye.
