- Shaun: Hello and welcome back to The Reset, this is episode 94 with me, Sean Tucker. This is what I would do differently if I was building a business and I cared about my health and for some reason I just couldn't master the discipline, the effort, what it took to get myself into the gym and actually working out again properly. So for about two years or so, I wasn't really consistent with hitting the gym, with exercising regularly. ⁓ When I say exercising, I was walking every single day, but I wasn't. I wasn't exactly taking proper care of my movements and stretching and strengthening and doing all these things because honestly, I was too stressed out and living in my own head. I had a gym, a garage gym that was 15 meters away from my house. It was literally on the property that I was living. and I didn't use it for about two years. I went in there, I trained clients, but I didn't use it for myself. I was still doing yoga. I was doing a 21 minute practice that I've done for the last four and a half years consistently every single day, but I was really just surviving. I was just coping with the daily hustle and bustle of trying to make my business work for me. And this is what I would do differently. So in this episode, maybe take some notes, jot some things down and learn from my mistakes. Because what I'm doing now is exactly what I would have done a few years ago if I had known that there was support available and these things were available. Number one, the very first thing that I would have done is I would have joined a community based event, be it a run club, be it a fitness movement, just something if money was stretched. Running is free. Most park runs are free from my imagination because I haven't been to one, but yeah, most community events from my understanding are free, especially when they're fitness related. This is why I started my fitness for dads every single Sunday morning. And it's not just dads, by the way, any man can join. This is specifically for those guys who maybe they even work out. Maybe they don't, maybe they haven't been doing it for a while and want to get back into it. We meet once a week, 6 a.m. on a Sunday, so it avoids that time away from your family that you probably hold so dearly, especially on the weekends. So looking back, I lived... Like I said, 15 meters away from the gym. But I still wasn't doing it. And so to get out of your head, you really need to, I don't know, face what you're running away from as well. That's what I had to do. That's why having a space you can go to, to open up and to actually receive support and help on the thing you're struggling through, I think that's what I would do differently too. So that's number two, is that I would actually seek support, seek help. Because I think as a man, we tend to want to carry things by ourselves. We don't want to express that there is something off about us. There is something that is deeply bothering us. And I'll be open and honest, for me it was actually feeling like a failure. for a very, very long time. I felt like my business was not up to scratch. I couldn't really provide a sustainable. stable income. especially in the online space. Put me in the in-person space and I flourish. But the online space is a different, it's a different battle. It's a different beast. It requires a different level of commitment. I had a six figure business, PT business when I was operating inside a commercial gym. When COVID lockdowns came around, of course they stopped my gym, my PT business from operating, but I didn't pivot my business to online. I waited about a year and a half before I took my business online and I lost all of the momentum that I had built. within creating that six figure business. Anyway, today's not really about a sub story. It's just what would I do differently? Seek help earlier. That's the point is number two is seeking help and seeking support, but doing it a lot earlier than what you think you need. Because your thoughts will keep convincing you that you're okay. You don't need to ask for help. If you just sleep it off, it'll be fine. But the thing is it will keep weighing on you. Your sleep will become affected and you get harder and harder to get out of bed each day. And look, the grind isn't really worth it. The grind of pushing yourself to become someone you think you have to be, honestly, it's not worth it. I would much rather be connected to myself and actually uncover what things light me up so that I can start pursuing things that actually feel meaningful and impactful. Not only to me, but to the people around me. Number three, what would I do? I would not only ask for support and seek help, but I would actually really sit with myself and ask the question, is this really what I want to be doing? Because in this space, there's a lot of people doing really well and there's a lot more people really just scraping by. And there's a lot of people who are not even scraping by. They do it for a few months and then they stop because they've run out of money. That's just the truth. And so if you're not ready to stomach the path of uncertainty, maybe don't choose this path. Choose a different path. Because it takes a lot of guts, a lot of guts, a lot of courage. really stay true and really be committed to waking up each day and going to battle because that's what it is. You're literally going to battle not really against anyone else but yourself. your mind will trick you and your mind will also encourage you. So it's which wolf do you feed? Do you feed the one of anger and resentment or do you feed the one of bliss and joy? Half the time we are unaware of which wolf we are feeding so my suggestion is give it your best shot. Don't have a backup plan unless you really, really, really need one, but at least know how to receive support when you need it. Be it financial, it emotional, physical, whatever. Those are my three points. Point number four. This is ⁓ Point number four, this one's an interesting one. Everyone will try and convince you you need their product or service. So be very, very mindful of how you spend your time, your money, and your energy. because people will use what you have and they will convince you in many ways that you'll need their thing. And this is even to do with products like there's a lot of AI subscription tools that you can use now. I know from experience it's easy to click sign up because it sounds like a good idea at the time and this is the same with buying courses, buying products, buying coaching, pretty much anything. Just be really mindful and maybe even have a budget. I mean I'm still yet to have a strong enforced budget in my business but I'm still in the startup phase and this is I think why people go broke in the startup phase because they don't know their numbers. They don't know what they can spend, they don't know what they can really use their money for, and they don't know how to spend their time properly. So be really mindful of that one, because that will destroy your business faster than anything else. Yeah, those are my four tips. I would love to know which one you like the most, which one you've learned the most from, and which one you can actually maybe take from this episode and start implementing straight away. Let me know. Yeah, I'm excited to hear the results from that. And thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate you tuning in. And if you found value in the episode, share it with one person. That's all I ask. Thanks so much and look forward to seeing you in tomorrow's episode.
