March 31 - Hope During the Long Wait · Bible Chat Devotional

Welcome to Bible Chat where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in scripture and relevant for today, March 31st.
• 0:11
Hope that holds. Waiting can wear on the heart.
• 0:15
When you have prayed for something again and again, when
• 0:17
you have hoped for change, healing, clarity, or
• 0:20
breakthrough and nothing seems to move, it can start to feel
• 0:23
heavy. Proverbs chapter 13 verse 12
• 0:26
says hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire
• 0:30
fulfilled is a tree of life. That verse understands something
• 0:33
  very human. Delayed.
• 0:35
Hope hurts, waiting is not always easy, and disappointment
• 0:39
can quietly drain your strength if you are not careful.
• 0:42
But the story does not end there.
• 0:45
Proverbs chapter 13 verse 11 says wealth gained hastily will
• 0:49
dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase
• 0:52
it. God often works little by
• 0:54
  little. He grows things steadily.
• 0:57
He forms character patiently. He builds faith over time.
• 1:01
And Psalm 37, verses 3 to 4 says trust in the Lord and do good.
• 1:06
Dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
• 1:10
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires
• 1:12
of your heart. That is such a strong and tender
• 1:15
  invitation. Trust while you wait.
• 1:17
Do good while you wait. Stay close to faithfulness while
• 1:21
you wait. Delight in God while you wait.
• 1:24
That means waiting is not wasted space.
• 1:27
It is a place where God teaches us to lean on him, not just on
• 1:30
outcomes. It is where our desires are
• 1:33
deepened, refined, and sometimes even reshaped.
• 1:37
Sometimes we think we are waiting only for an answer, but
• 1:40
God is also growing us in the process.
• 1:43
Maybe you are carrying a hope that feels delayed right now, a
• 1:46
prayer that seems unanswered, a promise that feels far away, a
• 1:50
need that still hurts. God sees that he is not distant
• 1:55
from your disappointment, He is present in it, and he is still
• 1:58
trustworthy even when the timing feels difficult.
• 2:01
Hope that holds is not hope built on perfect circumstances.
• 2:06
It is hope anchored in the character of God.
• 2:08
His timing is wise, His love is steady.
• 2:11
His work is often quiet, but it is never absent.
• 2:14
So keep trusting. Keep doing good, keep taking the
• 2:18
next faithful step. Little by little, God is at work
• 2:21
in ways you may not yet see. And when your heart grows tired,
• 2:24
return to Him, not just for what he can give, but for who He is.
• 2:29
Because the deepest hope is not only that God will come through,
• 2:33
it is that God Himself is near faithful and enough.
• 2:36
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:39
being faithful when waiting feels hard.
• 2:42
You see the hopes I carry and the places where my heart feels
• 2:45
tired. Help me to trust you.
• 2:48
Do good and remain steady while I wait for your timing.
• 2:51
Teach me to delight in You more than in quick answers and
• 2:54
strengthen my heart with hope that holds in Jesus name, Amen.

Proverbs chapter 13 verses 11 to 12 World English Bible Wealth
• 4:31
gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand
• 4:35
makes it grow. Hope deferred makes the heart
• 4:37
sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
• 4:41
Psalm chapter 37 World English Bible by David Don't fret
• 4:47
because of evil doers, neither be envious against those who
• 4:49
work unrighteousness, for they shall soon be cut down like the
• 4:53
grass and wither like the green herb.
• 4:55
Trust in Yahweh and do good. Dwell in the land and enjoy safe
• 4:59
  pasture. Also.
• 5:00
Delight yourself in Yahweh and He will give you the desires of
• 5:03
your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh.
• 5:06
Trust also in Him, and He will do this.
• 5:08
He will make your righteousness shine out like light and your
• 5:11
justice as the noonday sun. Rest in Yahweh and wait
• 5:15
patiently for Him. Don't fret because of Him who
• 5:17
prospers in His way, because of the man who makes wicked plots
• 5:21
happen. Cease from anger and forsake
• 5:23
  wrath. Don't fret.
• 5:25
It leads only to evil doing, for evil doers shall be cut off.
• 5:29
But those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land, for yet
• 5:32
a little while, and the wicked will be no more.
• 5:34
Yes, though you look for his place, he isn't there.
• 5:37
But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight
• 5:40
themselves in the abundance of peace.
• 5:42
The wicked plots against the just and gnashes at him with his
• 5:45
teeth. The Lord will laugh at him, for
• 5:48
he sees that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn out the
• 5:51
sword, and have bent their bow to cast down the poor and needy
• 5:54
to kill those who are upright on the path.
• 5:57
Their sword shall enter into their own heart.
• 5:59
Their bows shall be broken. Better is a little that the
• 6:02
righteous has than the abundance of many wicked.
• 6:05
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken.
• 6:07
  But Yahweh upholds the righteous.
• 6:09
Yahweh knows the days of the perfect.
• 6:12
  Their inheritance shall be forever.
• 6:14
They shall not be disappointed in the time of evil.
• 6:16
In the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
• 6:19
But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be
• 6:22
like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish, vanish like
• 6:26
smoke. The wicked borrow and don't pay
• 6:28
back, but the righteous give generously.
• 6:30
For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land.
• 6:33
Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.
• 6:36
A man's steps are established by Yahweh.
• 6:39
He delights in his way. Though he stumble, he shall not
• 6:42
fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand.
• 6:44
I have been young, and now I'm old, yet I have not seen the
• 6:47
righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.
• 6:51
All day long. He deals graciously and lends.
• 6:54
His offspring is blessed. Depart from evil and do good,
• 6:57
live securely forever. For Yahweh loves justice and
• 7:00
doesn't forsake his Saints. They are preserved forever.
• 7:03
But the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
• 7:06
The righteous shall inherit the land and live in it forever.
• 7:09
The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom.
• 7:11
His tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his
• 7:15
heart. None of his steps shall slide.
• 7:17
The wicked watch the righteous and seek to kill him.
• 7:20
Yahweh will not leave him in His hand nor condemn him when he is
• 7:23
judged. Wait for Yahweh and keep His
• 7:26
way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land.
• 7:29
When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
• 7:31
I have seen the wicked in great power, spreading himself like a
• 7:34
green tree in its native soil. But he passed away, and behold,
• 7:38
he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could
• 7:41
not be found. Mark the perfect man and see the
• 7:44
upright, for there is a future for the man of peace.
• 7:47
As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together.
• 7:50
The future of the wicked shall be cut off, but the salvation of
• 7:53
the righteous is from Yahweh. He is their stronghold in the
• 7:57
time of trouble. Yahweh helps them and rescues
• 7:59
them. He rescues them from the wicked
• 8:02
and saves them because they have taken refuge in Him.
