- 0:01Speaker 2: Bring us in.
- 0:03Speaker 3: Are you ready to roll?
- 0:04Speaker 4: Boop.
- 0:06Speaker 5: Boop.
- 0:07Speaker 6: Boop.
- 0:17Speaker 7: Hi, this is Tom Kane, the voice of Yoda.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:21Speaker 8: You are good.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's showtime.
- 0:32Speaker 8: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:35Speaker 8: Picture Association of America.
- 0:36Speaker 5: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:41Speaker 8: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And there's one thing I do know, son, and that
- 1:19Speaker 2: is you are here for a reason.
- 1:31Speaker 9: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I'm Brian.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I'm Patrick. I'm David.
- 1:36Speaker 9: The trio of terror is back. We are coming to
- 1:41Speaker 9: you live from Patrick's, what are we calling this for
- 1:44Speaker 9: him now?
- 1:44Speaker 2: The basement. Oh, the lower level.
- 1:47Speaker 1: The lower level.
- 1:48Speaker 3: The lower level.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I've got a sign.
- 1:50Speaker 1: The underground.
- 1:50Speaker 2: It's not up yet.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It's not up, but I have a sign. We're so underground.
- 1:53Speaker 2: We're so underground. We were underground before it was cool.
- 1:56Speaker 9: Live from Patrick's lower level, where we're going to be
- 1:59Speaker 9: watching this wonderful film.
- 2:01Speaker 1: The Raid.
- 2:03Speaker 9: But before we get to that, we haven't hung out
- 2:05Speaker 9: for a while now, so what's up with you guys?
- 2:08Speaker 1: How's it been?
- 2:08Speaker 9: What have you watched?
- 2:12Speaker 1: All I do is work.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I sleep and work.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And then no movies.
- 2:17Speaker 9: That's not life.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I just saw the brand new Lord of the Rings.
- 2:22Speaker 9: Oh man.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Are we going to talk about that too? No, it
- 2:24Speaker 1: was rough.
- 2:25Speaker 2: We're going to skip that.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I saw Hunger Games. Oh my gosh. We could do
- 2:29Speaker 1: a whole other episode. I could rant about The Hobbit.
- 2:33Speaker 1: That trilogy offends me so hard. You get offended by everything. No,
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm really not. You know, I think what made it
- 2:41Speaker 1: worse is that, you know, in between the second and
- 2:44Speaker 1: third movie, I revisited the original Lord of the Rings books. Like,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I went back and read them all. Because I hadn't
- 2:48Speaker 1: read them since high school. And so I remember going
- 2:50Speaker 1: into the original trilogy, like, oh, man, it was a
- 2:52Speaker 1: great representation of the books. And then I read them again.
- 2:54Speaker 9: I'm like.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It was an okay representation of the book.
- 2:58Speaker 9: See, that's what you get for reading.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'm going to pause him right there and I'm going
- 3:01Speaker 2: to say within the next 45 seconds, he's going to
- 3:04Speaker 2: bring up how the old where they like filmed it
- 3:06Speaker 2: and then animated over it was better and that's going
- 3:08Speaker 2: to lead into the witch movie that ripped off Harry
- 3:12Speaker 2: Potter or whatever.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Harry Potter ripped it off.
- 3:13Speaker 9: Now, the original Hobbit animated one is good.
- 3:16Speaker 1: The Littlest Witch?
- 3:17Speaker 9: And even The Return of the King is good, but
- 3:19Speaker 9: that Lord of the Rings Ralph Baschi thing, that was terrible.
- 3:23Speaker 3: That rotoscope nonsense.
- 3:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Now in rotoscope sounds like a intestinal surgery you know
- 3:30Speaker 2: it's scope later this year.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah it's like you know with the hobbit movies
- 3:34Speaker 1: it was so they're so pretty and they're so well
- 3:37Speaker 1: made but it's just like it's weird because it's the
- 3:41Speaker 1: same thing with michael bay i don't i wish i
- 3:42Speaker 1: had a switch i can turn it off like i'm
- 3:44Speaker 1: sure they're fantastic great entertaining movies if you could turn
- 3:48Speaker 1: your brain off from the source material if you could
- 3:49Speaker 1: just do that i'm sure they're great But it's like,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I haven't figured out how to do that disconnect yet.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So it's like, I'm watching this. I mean, don't get
- 3:57Speaker 1: me wrong. That, spoiler free, but the Matrix-ish fight with
- 4:03Speaker 1: all the ringwraiths was awesome. I'm like marking out as
- 4:07Speaker 1: a geek, like, oh my God, this fight is amazing.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But at the same time, there's this other part of
- 4:11Speaker 1: me that's like kicking myself and... Why was that in
- 4:15Speaker 1: the movie?
- 4:15Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 4:15Speaker 1: See, that was my thing. I was like, this is
- 4:17Speaker 1: so amazing. But it was a little bit of that
- 4:19Speaker 1: Yoda thing, too, where like, you know, here's like Saruman's,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you know, Christopher Lee's old elderly self, you know, and
- 4:26Speaker 1: then next thing you know, he's like roundhouse and jumping around,
- 4:29Speaker 1: bouncing off walls, doing Matrix stuff. And you're like, oh
- 4:31Speaker 1: my gosh.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I think him and Agent Smith, they had like something
- 4:34Speaker 2: in their contract where we need to be in the
- 4:36Speaker 2: movie for six minutes, Mr. Anderson. Give me a sword
- 4:41Speaker 2: and let me at him.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Because in the second one or the first one, they
- 4:46Speaker 2: totally play up that whole, oh.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We're going to have the necromancer.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It's going to be this thing.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And then you see the third one, you're.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Like, oh, he was in it for 36 seconds.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I just thought.
- 4:56Speaker 9: It was weird when Trinity wandered in the background.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Right?
- 5:00Speaker 2: The Merovingians running.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Like instead of a cat going up the staircase twice,
- 5:05Speaker 1: like a goblin walks by twice. And they're like, didn't
- 5:08Speaker 1: we just see that goblin?
- 5:10Speaker 2: It's when they change something.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yeah, deja vu.
- 5:14Speaker 7: Okay, okay, okay.
- 5:15Speaker 2: The raid.
- 5:16Speaker 3: That's later.
- 5:17Speaker 5: We're going to watch it.
- 5:19Speaker 9: I mean, we're... For super geek... And actually, it's been
- 5:23Speaker 9: a while, so we've been bouncing around in different places.
- 5:25Speaker 9: I don't think I've sat down since I've seen it.
- 5:28Speaker 9: I haven't talked with anybody about the new Seven trailer.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Episode Seven.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Oh, fuck my life, Seven.
- 5:36Speaker 9: Do you guys want to go into that for a moment?
- 5:43Speaker 2: You know, what got me about it is that Black
- 5:44Speaker 2: storm trooper.
- 5:46Speaker 1: It just felt like a teaser, not a trailer. Even
- 5:49Speaker 1: though it was the official trailer, like this is still
- 5:51Speaker 1: so teaser. You cannot put.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Is it just the tip?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Pretty much. It was just the tip because you cannot,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you can't come up with any even guesses at story
- 6:00Speaker 1: from that. Every scene was so independent of the next
- 6:04Speaker 1: scene that it was impossible to even go, you know, oh,
- 6:08Speaker 1: well it's going to be about this. Like everyone is
- 6:09Speaker 1: still completely confused as to what this is going to be.
- 6:12Speaker 1: What more do you want?
- 6:13Speaker 4: Oh man.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 6:14Speaker 9: Is that a switch I can turn off on movie?
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'm a huge Abrams fan. I loved Early Lost and
- 6:21Speaker 1: I loved Fringe. And in Fringe, it was on purpose.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That's the thing. Everyone thinks it's just... I can't defend
- 6:26Speaker 1: Star Trek. I don't know why... I mean, they are
- 6:28Speaker 1: in space. I can't defend the solar flares in Star Trek.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But in Fringe, it was on purpose. There was something
- 6:34Speaker 1: that that meant. When there were solar flares, in the
- 6:36Speaker 1: context of the story, that meant that there was something
- 6:38Speaker 1: going on. Spoiler free, but... He's like, that looks cool.
- 6:43Speaker 2: It's so long in between Abrams movies that when I
- 6:46Speaker 2: get really depressed, I just have my wife's China flashlight
- 6:48Speaker 2: in my eyes. It makes it.
- 6:52Speaker 1: All better. I got a little scared when he said
- 6:54Speaker 1: he was going to do Star Wars because it's like,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I love the first Star Trek movie, but the second
- 6:58Speaker 1: Star Trek movie has so many plot holes. It's a
- 7:02Speaker 1: good movie, but the plot holes are massive.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Name one plot hole.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Um.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Immortality?
- 7:08Speaker 5: Who?
- 7:08Speaker 4: Who?
- 7:09Speaker 1: Immortality.
- 7:10Speaker 9: By the end of the movie, everyone can have it?
- 7:11Speaker 1: They created immortality, but it's like people are supposedly dying?
- 7:17Speaker 1: That's what got me. We recreated that death scene from
- 7:21Speaker 1: Wrath of Khan, switched, but we recreated it. I'm like,
- 7:23Speaker 1: but wait, this dude over here, his whole body is
- 7:25Speaker 1: seething with immortality. What does it matter? We can bring
- 7:29Speaker 1: this dude right back to life. What does it mean? Okay,
- 7:35Speaker 1: second plot hole.
- 7:39Speaker 2: That's my point.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Well, no, no. The thing is that it'd be super
- 7:42Speaker 1: geeky stuff. Like, it was like the whole beginning. It's
- 7:45Speaker 1: been so long since I watched in my head. We
- 7:47Speaker 1: could watch that tonight.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Not in Thai.
- 7:50Speaker 1: But it was like the way they, like I said,
- 7:53Speaker 1: Star Trek dorking me. I forget all that. Don't worry.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It had to do with the whole.
- 7:58Speaker 9: Like, why are they down on that?
- 7:59Speaker 1: It was like, yeah, the volcano place and whatever was
- 8:03Speaker 1: going on there. They had to distract the people. It
- 8:05Speaker 1: was like they weren't supposed to be seen, but they
- 8:08Speaker 1: had parked the ship next to the volcano. It was
- 8:11Speaker 1: just all this weird stuff where it was like, how
- 8:15Speaker 1: did they land that ship underwater without them seeing it?
- 8:17Speaker 1: Even if you're invisible, you just submerged a huge vessel
- 8:22Speaker 1: into the water. There's just so much going on there.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I was like, all right, this is a no-brainer.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Would you rather see a movie with just invisibility, or
- 8:27Speaker 2: would you rather see the Enterprise under the ocean?
- 8:30Speaker 1: How cool is that? And they dive off the cliff
- 8:33Speaker 1: and they.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Swim down to it.
- 8:35Speaker 9: Scotty doesn't like it.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I wanted more Klingons. That Klingon stuff was a tease.
- 8:38Speaker 1: It's coming in the third one. It's coming.
- 8:40Speaker 3: You know it's coming.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I wanted that so bad there.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Does it not bother people that he's not directing the
- 8:45Speaker 2: third one or any more Star Wars movies?
- 8:47Speaker 1: Is he not doing another Star Wars movie? I thought
- 8:49Speaker 1: he was doing.
- 8:49Speaker 3: No, no, he's just doing the first one.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He's only doing the first one. They've already given.
- 8:52Speaker 2: No, you know Godzilla's doing the second one. No, no, it's...
- 8:56Speaker 2: It's not Gareth?
- 8:57Speaker 3: No, it's not Gareth.
- 8:58Speaker 9: I'm actually more interested in what comes up in like
- 9:01Speaker 9: 8 and 9 because they're giving it to.
- 9:04Speaker 7: Who's the guy?
- 9:04Speaker 2: Who's the guy? It's somebody that just did a movie
- 9:08Speaker 2: with a heavy CG.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You have to be a lot more specific than that.
- 9:11Speaker 9: It's the Bruce Willis movie where he like.
- 9:14Speaker 1: No, I didn't know that, though. I thought Abrams was
- 9:16Speaker 1: all three.
- 9:17Speaker 9: Abrams is the first one, and then it's.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So whose choice was that? Did he decide to dip out,
- 9:23Speaker 1: or did they just go, hey, thanks for part seven,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you can go along now?
- 9:27Speaker 9: I think that was his choice. I think he wanted
- 9:29Speaker 9: to relaunch the franchise. I'm sure he'll stay on as
- 9:33Speaker 9: executive producer, but I think he wants to get different
- 9:36Speaker 9: directors giving different takes on everything.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Interesting. I mean, you know, the original trilogy was not
- 9:42Speaker 1: directed at all by the same person.
- 9:44Speaker 5: No.
- 9:44Speaker 9: And it got better once we ditched Lucas.
- 9:48Speaker 3: But then it kind of took a turn.
- 9:50Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 3: So who knows?
- 9:53Speaker 1: I think that kind of stuff would be so tough
- 9:56Speaker 1: to do. I was going to say, with all the
- 9:57Speaker 1: side movies and stuff that they're talking about doing, it's
- 10:01Speaker 1: too bad we couldn't do a Shadow of the Empire
- 10:04Speaker 1: on film. I thought that storyline was really neat.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Except it doesn't exist.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Well, nothing does now. Didn't he come out and say that?
- 10:12Speaker 1: For years, he's been okaying all this comic books, novels. Well,
- 10:16Speaker 1: that's why he's making.
- 10:17Speaker 9: Money with it, too. Now he doesn't make money off anything.
- 10:23Speaker 9: But I guess that was the Disney people, really, right?
- 10:26Speaker 9: Because that happened when they bought it.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess they were the ones that were like,
- 10:30Speaker 1: they shut down. Everyone that did the comics wasn't like
- 10:32Speaker 1: Dark Horse and stuff. They shut everything down. No one's
- 10:35Speaker 1: stories pertaining to Luke of Star Wars stuff is canon
- 10:39Speaker 1: as of now. It's like only the trilogy. I assume
- 10:43Speaker 1: they still acknowledge the prequels, unfortunately. It's like, can we
- 10:46Speaker 1: just count that as fan fiction too? It's like, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 1: in that other fan fiction we did, we can go
- 10:50Speaker 1: and say those don't count either. And go and take
- 10:53Speaker 1: that back home. I thought all the hype about his
- 10:56Speaker 1: lightsaber was funny though. Like how many people got upset
- 10:58Speaker 1: with that cross guard.
- 11:00Speaker 9: Well, I kind of knew it was coming because it's
- 11:03Speaker 9: the repeat of the trailer for Phantom Menace. It's like
- 11:07Speaker 9: we had that long period where we didn't have anything.
- 11:10Speaker 9: And then they're like, all right, well, we can't just
- 11:12Speaker 9: show lightsabers. We got to one-up it. And we had
- 11:14Speaker 9: that shot of the other lightsaber kicks in. And we're like, oh, shit.
- 11:18Speaker 9: So we had to kind of do that again or
- 11:21Speaker 9: we were going to be going backwards.
- 11:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 9: You know you love those extra little blades on the lightsaber,
- 11:26Speaker 9: don't you, Ben?
- 11:26Speaker 2: They're going to come out with a gun blade lightsaber pretty.
- 11:29Speaker 9: Soon, I hope. I heard somebody say they're going to
- 11:32Speaker 9: make a gun that shoots lightsabers to one-up it.
- 11:35Speaker 2: It's just a laser gun.
- 11:37Speaker 9: No, it has to fire a lightsaber.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I'm Han.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Solo.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Is it Rain Johnson? Does that sound right? Star Wars
- 11:46Speaker 1: Episode VIII to be written and directed by Rain Johnson.
- 11:48Speaker 7: It's Ryan. It's his weird spelling.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I'm an idiot. So he has to be a cool kid.
- 11:54Speaker 1: He's going to make it rain, but not.
- 11:57Speaker 9: Looper.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That's it.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Looper, dude.
- 11:59Speaker 9: Fucking Looper.
- 11:59Speaker 1: God, fucking Looper. But that's the thing.
- 12:02Speaker 9: I thought Looper was pretty impressive, just plot-wise. And then
- 12:06Speaker 9: if you go back, he's also the one that did Brick,
- 12:10Speaker 9: which is like phenomenal.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Brick is actually phenomenal. Which one was Brick?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Brick is the same kid from Looper, young Bruce Willis.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And somebody gets murdered, but Brick... you learn all these
- 12:20Speaker 2: cool slang words, and that's pretty much why they made
- 12:22Speaker 2: the movie.
- 12:23Speaker 9: Well, no, it's basically, it's film noir, but it's film noir.
- 12:26Speaker 9: It's like a basic old school, like, 30s, 40s film
- 12:28Speaker 9: noir movie, but it's set in modern day high school.
- 12:31Speaker 5: It's awesome.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Really?
- 12:32Speaker 9: So all the little, like, games that go on in those, like,
- 12:36Speaker 9: in the underworld, dealing with the bad guys, it's like
- 12:39Speaker 9: kids getting class, kids doing, you know, dealing drugs in
- 12:42Speaker 9: the hallway. Like, everything is still represented, but it's in
- 12:45Speaker 9: a modern high school version.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Wasn't Newsies kind of in a weird way like it
- 12:49Speaker 1: was kids acting like adults no.
- 12:51Speaker 9: That's more bugsy malone really.
- 12:53Speaker 2: But it'll be fun when you've got like a little
- 12:55Speaker 2: baby luke skywalker acting like it's a western noir and
- 12:59Speaker 2: not yoda oh god they're gonna ruin it.
- 13:01Speaker 9: Again no i mean really that's the thing i i
- 13:04Speaker 9: got to the point i was like i don't i'm
- 13:06Speaker 9: fine with this like i i'm fine with taking lucas
- 13:08Speaker 9: out of the equation because he came up with some
- 13:10Speaker 9: great stuff i won't totally trash him He did some
- 13:13Speaker 9: really amazing stuff.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Luckily, me's are not in the noose of movies.
- 13:17Speaker 9: No, I'm talking like in the 70s. He did some
- 13:20Speaker 9: really great movies in the 70s. He turned it over
- 13:23Speaker 9: to somebody good in 80. And then it's kind of
- 13:25Speaker 9: steadily gone downhill since then. So it's like I really,
- 13:28Speaker 9: I think it's best to take his universe and give
- 13:32Speaker 9: it to other people and let other people do it.
- 13:35Speaker 9: And I was okay even with the Disney thing because
- 13:36Speaker 9: I'm like Disney is the only- They're the only people
- 13:40Speaker 9: that have money to throw behind it. They're the only
- 13:42Speaker 9: people that are also, at this point, seemingly smart enough
- 13:46Speaker 9: to let them do their thing. They haven't messed up Marvel.
- 13:49Speaker 9: They're just like, do your own thing. We just want
- 13:51Speaker 9: to cash the checks.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I'm fine with all of these things.
- 13:55Speaker 9: It's all promising. It could go wrong, but I think
- 13:57Speaker 9: it's more promise than we've seen in 25 years from
- 14:01Speaker 9: Star Wars.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I have hope.
- 14:03Speaker 6: A new hope.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I feel like Disney is the new Medici family. Like
- 14:08Speaker 1: they are like the great sponsors of great art. Like seriously, Disney.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You want to take a Tony Stark and do something beautiful?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Here's the money. Like seriously, like, you know, when I
- 14:18Speaker 1: first got Marvel, I was like, here we go. You know,
- 14:21Speaker 1: I was expecting all these cartoons and kind of like
- 14:23Speaker 1: doing their kiddie thing. But when they just kind of like,
- 14:25Speaker 1: you know, we're like, hey, Joss, go do what you want.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I was like, oh my gosh, like this is fantastic.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Like you are just trusting your artists to do the art.
- 14:35Speaker 1: You know, it's like just. Just back them up. Let
- 14:37Speaker 1: them do their thing. They're going to take care of you.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Only they would have bought Godzilla.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Minus the Ant-Man hiccup.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But otherwise, they've been pretty solid. Not a fan of
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Ant-Man thing? Wow. What's the hiccup?
- 14:47Speaker 2: All I'm going to say is I was really not
- 14:48Speaker 2: looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy, and I took
- 14:51Speaker 2: a bet. that it was going to be the downfall
- 14:53Speaker 2: of Marvel.
- 14:55Speaker 1: And you lost.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And I've never been so wrong, Master Bilbo.
- 14:59Speaker 9: Not only is it amazing, because I just re-watched it
- 15:02Speaker 9: about a week ago.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I did too. I just watched it last.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Week again too.
- 15:05Speaker 9: I just saw it on the old internets. It was like,
- 15:07Speaker 9: it's going to come in as the top grossing movie
- 15:10Speaker 9: of the year. Nice. And I'm like, that?
- 15:12Speaker 7: I wouldn't even have guessed that.
- 15:13Speaker 9: It deserves it. It does. It's really well put together. Like,
- 15:18Speaker 9: even on top of, like, just being a geek and, like,
- 15:20Speaker 9: liking the property and all that, but, like, it's well written.
- 15:23Speaker 1: It's well structured as a movie.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I understand this whole juxtaposition with, like, how lighthearted Marvel
- 15:29Speaker 2: is and how dark DC is.
- 15:31Speaker 7: And wrong, usually.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And wrong.
- 15:34Speaker 2: But I think it's genius for them to, like, have
- 15:37Speaker 2: their main movies are, like, 5% comedy, 95% true-to-source material
- 15:44Speaker 2: or action-oriented or whatever. Mm-hmm. But I think it's wise
- 15:47Speaker 2: of them to throw in the filler movies just being
- 15:49Speaker 2: fucking hilarious. And I was so wrong.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It's beautiful. I remember somewhere about halfway into that movie
- 15:57Speaker 1: when I realized there was enough into it where I
- 16:00Speaker 1: could start forming an opinion. I remember having Star Wars feelings.
- 16:04Speaker 1: There was part of me that was just like, this
- 16:06Speaker 1: is what Star Wars was. It was like, every time
- 16:08Speaker 1: they go somewhere, it's like, oh my gosh, what's this
- 16:10Speaker 1: place going to be like? Who's going to be here?
- 16:11Speaker 1: What kind of people and things are going to go
- 16:13Speaker 1: on there?
- 16:13Speaker 2: Why is that thing shaped like a skull?
- 16:14Speaker 1: Everything was so... was awesome it's like so much interesting
- 16:18Speaker 1: stuff and part of me is just like i i
- 16:20Speaker 1: think it's your move star wars i think you know
- 16:23Speaker 1: guardians of the galaxy just kind of kind of up
- 16:25Speaker 1: to anything they're on they would.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Put ron perlman in that as his character from godzilla
- 16:30Speaker 2: yeah the only room from improvement would have been well.
- 16:33Speaker 9: That's the next one you gotta have room to go
- 16:35Speaker 9: somewhere yeah i guess so well that's that's the thing
- 16:37Speaker 9: that's what i heard was um people with kids sitting
- 16:41Speaker 9: in the theater watching their kids and being like this
- 16:43Speaker 9: is their star wars like this is going to be
- 16:46Speaker 9: That moment, 20, 30 years from now when geeks are
- 16:49Speaker 9: sitting around talking about like, well, I remember the first
- 16:51Speaker 9: time I saw Guardians of the Galaxy when I was
- 16:53Speaker 9: a kid. And like, people still do that with Star
- 16:55Speaker 9: Wars now. And it's like, it will be interesting to
- 16:57Speaker 9: see what becomes that. And if Star Wars itself can
- 17:01Speaker 9: do that or if it's just going to be Guardians
- 17:03Speaker 9: of the Galaxy.
- 17:04Speaker 1: This is the sound of me shaking my head. What's
- 17:06Speaker 1: kind of another interesting thing that kind of another similarity
- 17:09Speaker 1: between Guardians and Star Wars is apparently they've chose not
- 17:13Speaker 1: to go with the source material on his father. And
- 17:17Speaker 1: so maybe we could have that Darth Vader weird twist
- 17:21Speaker 1: thing where we find out his father. Cause I mean,
- 17:23Speaker 1: they seriously said it's like, it's not going to be
- 17:24Speaker 1: Nova or whoever his dad is in the comic. They
- 17:27Speaker 1: already said, it's like, no, we're, we're actually changing that.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You know, his dad is going to be someone different. So,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know, you could almost set up a weird Darth
- 17:35Speaker 1: Vader ish thing, have someone completely weird, bad guy ish,
- 17:40Speaker 1: end up being his dad and be some kind of
- 17:42Speaker 1: stunner for the kids.
- 17:43Speaker 9: No more prequel action. I want to go forward.
- 17:46Speaker 8: No doubt.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I will be happy if Guardians of the Galaxy never
- 17:50Speaker 2: mixes with any other Marvel property.
- 17:52Speaker 1: They kind of said that. Well, no, but they've already said, like,
- 17:55Speaker 1: Guardians 2 is still not going to have any connection
- 17:57Speaker 1: to Avengers. What will be smart, and what I think
- 18:01Speaker 1: they're going to do, is just when all of this
- 18:04Speaker 1: stuff comes to a head at the end, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 1: when they're fighting Thanos... Then when they drop in, I mean,
- 18:11Speaker 1: so much backstory. I mean, even if they literally just
- 18:13Speaker 1: drop in for the fight, you will have to clean
- 18:18Speaker 1: the entire floor of the theater because everyone's going to
- 18:21Speaker 1: be like, oh my God, like everyone is on screen together.
- 18:24Speaker 1: This is it.
- 18:24Speaker 2: If they were smart though, they would not put them
- 18:26Speaker 2: on screen together, but they would have different theaters of war.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Like there's the war on Earth.
- 18:31Speaker 1: So like they're blowing up the reconstructed Death Star while.
- 18:35Speaker 2: They're out there taking care of it.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Do you see all these Star Wars things kind of
- 18:37Speaker 1: happening here? Like I think Whedon just kind of like,
- 18:40Speaker 1: you know, undercut Abrams is like, I got your Star
- 18:43Speaker 1: Wars right here, buddy.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Like, don't even worry about it. But you know that
- 18:46Speaker 2: Mickey's cashing all those checks.
- 18:48Speaker 1: No doubt. And Leia's a new Disney princess and Groot
- 18:51Speaker 1: is the new Chewbacca. No, I'm stoked. I can't wait.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Oh boy, keep buying tickets.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Sustenance.
- 19:05Speaker 9: Is that pizza? All right. I think pizza's here, so
- 19:09Speaker 9: we should probably take a break, and we'll, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 9: load up on pizza, watch this movie, and then we'll
- 19:14Speaker 9: be back to talk to you.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Word.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Good evening.
- 19:17Speaker 8: It's intermission time, and during the next 10 minutes, we
- 19:20Speaker 8: invite you to visit our refreshment stand located in the center.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Of the driveway.
- 19:24Speaker 9: You like our pizza pies made from a famous Italian recipe.
- 19:28Speaker 4: They're waiting for you right now at the concession stand.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Enjoy tempting food at its best.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Hey, Misty, do you have your earbuds strapped in? I
- 19:36Speaker 7: do not.
- 19:37Speaker 9: Well, that's probably because you didn't go to tweakedaudio.com and
- 19:40Speaker 9: get your tweaked audio earbuds because they're awesome.
- 19:44Speaker 7: I don't like things in my ears. You're the worst
- 19:47Speaker 7: pitch person ever.
- 19:48Speaker 9: I am.
- 19:49Speaker 4: I have my.
- 19:50Speaker 9: they're awesome they're the wood ones they're deluxe look at
- 19:53Speaker 9: this shit that's pretty.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Fancy and i guess if i were to shove any
- 19:56Speaker 5: implement in my ear it would be those.
- 19:58Speaker 9: We don't recommend you shove anything else in your ear
- 20:00Speaker 9: that's kind of why we were hooked up with tweaked
- 20:02Speaker 9: audio it's the only thing we recommend you shove in
- 20:04Speaker 9: your ear for medical purposes really If you damage your eardrum,

- 20:21Speaker 9: and free shipping.
- 20:22Speaker 7: Is it better than 5% discount? Not that 5% discount
- 20:24Speaker 7: that you were looking at in that catalog.
- 20:26Speaker 9: No, the discount you will be getting from Tweaked Audio
- 20:28Speaker 9: will be a hell of a lot better than the 5%.
- 20:30Speaker 7: It's a third off.
- 20:31Speaker 1: You get a third off.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Holy shit, if I had math, that would be awesome.

- 20:59Speaker 7: eyes to lightning moves. You're welcome. They're not going to
- 21:02Speaker 7: like me promoting their item, are they? Actually, they have
- 21:04Speaker 7: a pretty good sense of humor. Tweaked Audio is kind
- 21:07Speaker 7: of awesome.
- 21:07Speaker 8: Just go to tweakedaudio.com. When you check out, enter the
- 21:10Speaker 8: discount code MELTDOWN. Then you'll get 33% off and free shipping.

- 21:21Speaker 5: I'm C. Thomas Howell, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 21:38Speaker 6: It's part of your.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Problem, you know. You haven't seen enough movies.
- 21:54Speaker 8: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 21:59Speaker 4: And now, on with the show.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Oh, I got a live one here.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Yeah, the voiceover.
- 22:36Speaker 1: The voice is classic.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I hated it so much for so long, and then
- 22:40Speaker 2: I just accepted that that is the Batman of our time.
- 22:43Speaker 6: Where's my microphone? That's yours.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And you know he's going to be like, Superman, I
- 22:51Speaker 2: choose you. God, did you see the Batsuit?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I saw that little, like.
- 22:58Speaker 2: That little squiggle picture or whatever?
- 23:00Speaker 1: Little clip of a blurry video that someone put. I
- 23:02Speaker 1: thought it was neat that they did the white eyes.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Like, did his eyes actually, like, glow white?
- 23:06Speaker 4: Which.
- 23:06Speaker 1: You know, at first I was like, it looks a
- 23:08Speaker 1: little sci-fi-ish, but I mean, the original animated cartoon, his
- 23:11Speaker 1: eyes are always bright white, so it is kind of new.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It doesn't look sci-fi, but it does look like it's
- 23:15Speaker 2: Stark Industries.
- 23:17Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 23:19Speaker 1: But it was, you know, I'll give him this. My
- 23:20Speaker 1: thing is that, you know, I'm definitely one of those
- 23:25Speaker 1: haters on the Superman movie. I had a good time
- 23:27Speaker 1: in the theater, do not get me wrong. You should
- 23:28Speaker 1: have seen.
- 23:29Speaker 2: This motherfucker go to town when they released that they
- 23:31Speaker 2: had to do the scenes from the end of the
- 23:34Speaker 2: Superman movie again. And he let everybody know.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I posted on that show.
- 23:39Speaker 2: He posted the minute. I, like, saw it, and I'm like,
- 23:41Speaker 2: wait a minute, Dave Luke.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Oh!
- 23:42Speaker 1: Because I'm one of those haters. I came out of Superman. Like,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and this is the thing.
- 23:46Speaker 2: They've planned the whole DC universe.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I don't actually like Superman. As far as DC, you know,
- 23:53Speaker 1: Sandman and Batman. That's about all I really like. So,
- 23:57Speaker 1: you know, going into it, it's not like my dreams
- 24:01Speaker 1: were crushed or anything. But I was just like, wait.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I've always understood Superman to be the guy that doesn't
- 24:07Speaker 1: let anyone get hurt. It's like, this fight's not going
- 24:10Speaker 1: to happen here. We're going to take it over there
- 24:12Speaker 1: somehow so that people don't get hurt. He gave zero
- 24:15Speaker 1: fucks in that movie. I mean, not only that, he's
- 24:18Speaker 1: like turning over the semi guy's truck because he insulted
- 24:22Speaker 1: him at the little shithole diner he's eating. It's like
- 24:25Speaker 1: he was such a... dick when you really think about it.
- 24:28Speaker 1: You don't act like you care. You act like you
- 24:30Speaker 1: have an ego, but you don't act like you care
- 24:33Speaker 1: about the people around you.
- 24:34Speaker 2: The Hulk movies just suck. You can't make a good
- 24:36Speaker 2: Hulk movie. You make a background character out of the
- 24:40Speaker 2: Hulk and he's perfect. Like in the Avengers background. Superman's
- 24:44Speaker 2: a background character. But all of the DC superheroes are
- 24:48Speaker 2: actually a background character.
- 24:49Speaker 1: For Batman.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Except for Batman.
- 24:50Speaker 1: There's the rogues gallery and there's the heroes gallery. And
- 24:52Speaker 1: it's actually all, instead of DC, it should just be like, what,
- 24:55Speaker 1: BW for Bruce Wayne. Oh my God. BW Comics.
- 24:58Speaker 9: Well, that's the thing. I mean, with Superman, Superman more
- 25:01Speaker 9: than a character is an ideal.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You know, it's.
- 25:04Speaker 9: Like he has to stand for these things. And one
- 25:09Speaker 9: of which is you don't just take people out.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Like, I don't know.
- 25:13Speaker 9: I think that's what they missed is like all of
- 25:17Speaker 9: the basic... And I'm blaming Zack Snyder. I don't know
- 25:19Speaker 9: if he's really responsible. But I'm just like, why.
- 25:22Speaker 1: He.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Just did the lens play.
- 25:23Speaker 9: You would like.
- 25:23Speaker 1: You've got.
- 25:25Speaker 9: The whole thing. His whole ideals are built on that
- 25:28Speaker 9: Ma and Pa Kent thing. And Pa Kent's telling you,
- 25:32Speaker 9: don't risk yourself.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Don't get busted.
- 25:34Speaker 9: Don't save anybody.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Don't get found out. That was so confusing to me.
- 25:39Speaker 9: I'm like, why is it that the Smallville Pa Kent understands?
- 25:44Speaker 9: He was such a better Pa Kent and he created
- 25:48Speaker 9: the Superman that we know. And the Kevin Costner version
- 25:51Speaker 9: is just like, whatever you do, don't help anybody. And
- 25:54Speaker 9: I'm like, that's No, that's not.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I felt like they grabbed that weird side story father
- 26:02Speaker 1: from a random X-Men story angle. The parent that's just like,
- 26:05Speaker 1: oh my God, my son's a mutant? Okay, you can't
- 26:07Speaker 1: let anybody know. And somebody became Dad Kent. All of
- 26:10Speaker 1: a sudden, that character was Superman's dad. Like, oh my God,
- 26:13Speaker 1: don't let anybody know. It's like, dude, he's Superman. Yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 1: there's a reason. This is different.
- 26:19Speaker 9: He is Superman, and most of what he becomes is
- 26:21Speaker 9: because he's raised with these American Midwestern values and he's
- 26:25Speaker 9: all about helping people. And it's like, they didn't do
- 26:28Speaker 9: any of that. Like they missed all of that shit.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I just want a movie where he does the thing
- 26:33Speaker 2: that the, like the train tracks are out.
- 26:38Speaker 3: It's already out there.
- 26:38Speaker 9: You can go find yourself a copy of that. And
- 26:41Speaker 9: it has a good Superman.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I actually like that one.
- 26:43Speaker 9: I know.
- 26:44Speaker 1: The first two are awesome.
- 26:45Speaker 2: They're great.
- 26:46Speaker 1: What about the fourth one?
- 26:47Speaker 5: Why?
- 26:48Speaker 1: What about the fourth one? Quest for Peace, man. To
- 26:50Speaker 1: tie back why, like, you know, I, I made a
- 26:52Speaker 1: big deal about them rewriting the ending is because... It was.
- 26:55Speaker 2: A huge deal. It shut down the internet.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I felt like.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It was like North Korea hacked Facebook for a day.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Look, Zack Snyder went in, he made this movie, and
- 27:05Speaker 1: it was a very, I don't want to say selfish Superman,
- 27:08Speaker 1: but it was not the shepherd of humanity, the shepherd
- 27:11Speaker 1: of earth kind of thing that you usually get from
- 27:13Speaker 1: the comics. It's more of him like, you know.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 27:17Speaker 2: What if they secretly... already wrote the entire DC story
- 27:22Speaker 2: arc for like 15 movies. And it's not until like
- 27:25Speaker 2: the third movie that he becomes the shepherd of America.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Well, and that's what I think is going to happen now.
- 27:29Speaker 2: His colors are red, white, and blue.
- 27:30Speaker 9: Well, that's what we, we had somebody on the show
- 27:32Speaker 9: bring that up before. They were like, well, he's an
- 27:34Speaker 9: alien at this point. I'm like, but he's not supposed
- 27:36Speaker 9: to be now. He's been here for like 25, 30 years.
- 27:38Speaker 1: He skipped his childhood stuff, but it happened. You showed us,
- 27:42Speaker 1: you know, bits and pieces of him in flashback. We
- 27:44Speaker 1: understand it. He's been here for 20 years or so.
- 27:46Speaker 1: He's not, he's supposed to be in here by now.
- 27:49Speaker 9: The reason he's, you know, truth, justice in the American
- 27:53Speaker 9: way is because he was created as a superhero here.
- 27:57Speaker 9: His values and ideals all came from this, like protect everybody,
- 28:01Speaker 9: save America kind of thing. And it's like all that's out.
- 28:04Speaker 9: It's like he just landed here the day before the
- 28:06Speaker 9: movie started and he could care less about these insignificant
- 28:09Speaker 9: little ants that live on this planet. That's, That's where
- 28:12Speaker 9: I think it totally doesn't even make sense or understand
- 28:16Speaker 9: what Superman is supposed to be.
- 28:18Speaker 2: But how sick was that x-ray vision shit?
- 28:19Speaker 1: That was cool. My thing ultimately, though, and again, the
- 28:25Speaker 1: only reason I even mentioned they changed it is because
- 28:26Speaker 1: I felt like, so they put, they had this version
- 28:29Speaker 1: of Superman in mind and they released it and they
- 28:31Speaker 1: went with it. And the backlash was so, I don't
- 28:34Speaker 1: want to say the backlash was hard because I don't
- 28:35Speaker 1: know if, you know, If you're the one complaining, it
- 28:38Speaker 1: seems like everybody's complaining. So maybe it's just me and
- 28:41Speaker 1: my surrounding peers that were grumpy. But I found tons
- 28:45Speaker 1: of actual comic writers and stuff that were really upset
- 28:48Speaker 1: with it. So I felt like what they did is
- 28:51Speaker 1: they're trying to swerve everybody and go, oh, this was
- 28:53Speaker 1: all by design. This was all by design. And that's
- 28:56Speaker 1: what's going to happen. You're going to learn he's going
- 28:57Speaker 1: to feel real bad about this. Yet you had to
- 29:01Speaker 1: rewrite the N to accommodate this. It's all by design.
- 29:06Speaker 1: This is me doing air quotas. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 29:09Speaker 1: You don't get to respond to everyone's backlash and act
- 29:12Speaker 1: like you were the smart kids that planned this out
- 29:15Speaker 1: this way. No, no. I'm calling you out right now.
- 29:19Speaker 2: You're not bringing up one thing that I really want
- 29:21Speaker 2: to hear about.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Which is? This movie. Has it already come out?
- 29:27Speaker 3: Superman?
- 29:28Speaker 2: Well, I mean, like, before it. Wasn't there, like, a
- 29:30Speaker 2: Superman movie exactly like it, almost scene per scene?
- 29:33Speaker 1: What are we talking about?
- 29:36Speaker 2: I don't know. Name one thing about the Superman movie. Like,
- 29:39Speaker 2: one aspect. of it like an action scene or a
- 29:42Speaker 2: bad guy or.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Are we talking about dragon ball z you know what
- 29:44Speaker 1: you're saying that essentially this was dragon ball z with
- 29:46Speaker 1: a superman character no give me just anything because the
- 29:48Speaker 1: fights were very very dragon there was lots of swinging
- 29:51Speaker 1: around throwing to the ground kicking around in.
- 29:53Speaker 2: The air movie with dragon ball z like fight scenes
- 29:57Speaker 2: Maybe with a world engine that's terraforming a planet and
- 30:01Speaker 2: trying to enslave the human race. An entire movie tinted
- 30:05Speaker 2: with a green spectrum of lighting. A movie where there's
- 30:08Speaker 2: one hero who is the one.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Scene per scene, they're exactly the same.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Are you serious?
- 30:14Speaker 2: I'm serious. Think of when he's walking in the end
- 30:17Speaker 2: of Superman through Destructed Metropolis and when Morpheus puts.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Neo in the real world.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And then think of all those scenes where Neo just
- 30:25Speaker 2: flies up into the clouds and he has that low camera.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Angle up with him turning, just like Superman.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Think of when Superman's flying away from the world engine
- 30:33Speaker 2: thing and the squids are chasing him. I'm just saying,
- 30:37Speaker 2: this movie's already come out.
- 30:40Speaker 1: The Matrix just influenced way too many people. Blade Runner.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Damn you, Blade Runner.
- 30:45Speaker 1: So, speaking of, this is a good tie-in, how about
- 30:49Speaker 1: that Ghost in the Shell movie that's going to happen
- 30:51Speaker 1: with Little Miss Scarlett Johansson.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I just got done watching Ghost in the Shell Arise yesterday.
- 30:58Speaker 2: And I am probably the biggest Ghost in the Shell
- 31:00Speaker 2: fan you've ever met.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I'm cautiously optimistic.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Let me tell you one thing. If they would have
- 31:08Speaker 2: not called it Ghost in the Shell and just called
- 31:09Speaker 2: it the Black Widow movie, I would have been fine
- 31:12Speaker 2: with it. I don't know. I'm hoping that she just
- 31:15Speaker 2: doesn't have lines because I can deal with everything else.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Her little fight scene in Iron Man 2 in the
- 31:20Speaker 2: hallway was promising.
- 31:21Speaker 1: That was fantastic.
- 31:22Speaker 2: That was fantastic. Like she can be choreographed or stunt
- 31:24Speaker 2: doubled and she looks great in tight outfit.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You know, when you got Joss Whedon behind her, I mean,
- 31:28Speaker 1: he's been training Buffy for like almost a decade. So
- 31:31Speaker 1: he had the choreography.
- 31:32Speaker 2: I'm just saying, as long as she doesn't have to talk.
- 31:34Speaker 9: I've gotten totally on board with Miss Scarlet these days. Good.
- 31:38Speaker 6: I didn't.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Did you see it?
- 31:40Speaker 9: I remember for years we used to just like, you know,
- 31:43Speaker 9: she's cute, whatever. But these last several years, I'm like,
- 31:46Speaker 9: she's turning.
- 31:47Speaker 1: In Under the Skin. Under the Skin is amazing.
- 31:49Speaker 9: Like, she needs to be getting Oscar nominations for that.
- 31:53Speaker 9: And she probably won't because it's such a weird, tiny movie.
- 31:55Speaker 2: And she's Scarlett Johansson.
- 31:56Speaker 1: She's that, too.
- 31:58Speaker 9: But I'm like, she, again, I think she's going way
- 32:01Speaker 9: beyond people's expectations at this point. I think even in, like, Avengers.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I think she was undervalued in the beginning.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Really good in the Avengers. She was never given the
- 32:08Speaker 1: roles that she needed. I think going into it, they
- 32:10Speaker 1: thought that Scarlett Johansson, well. Black Widow and Hawkeye were
- 32:13Speaker 1: just going to be these background characters. And I think
- 32:15Speaker 1: there's a huge, including me, I think there's a huge
- 32:17Speaker 1: amount of people that want them to have their own movies. Like, no,
- 32:19Speaker 1: don't just, I want to watch them together. I don't
- 32:22Speaker 1: know if individually they could carry it.
- 32:24Speaker 9: It's no accident.
- 32:25Speaker 1: But do some backstory on them too.
- 32:27Speaker 9: Like driving force in Captain America 2.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:31Speaker 9: Right.
- 32:31Speaker 1: She's a major character. Have you read the.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Updated comics, whatever they're called? Ultimates? The Ultimates?
- 32:37Speaker 9: No.
- 32:38Speaker 2: So, Do you know her story about being the rogue
- 32:41Speaker 2: agent the whole time? Like she's still working for the Russians?
- 32:43Speaker 1: I remember there was some point in Marvel. Wasn't there
- 32:47Speaker 1: like a Secret Wars? Civil Wars. I thought it was
- 32:52Speaker 1: a Secret Wars where she's actually working for someone still
- 32:55Speaker 1: and has been duping Stark the whole time.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I'm really interested to see what they do with the
- 32:58Speaker 2: Civil Wars storyline. Like if it's going to be the
- 33:00Speaker 2: same for the comic books because that was already done
- 33:02Speaker 2: in X-Men. So now I don't know.
- 33:04Speaker 1: God, do you want to talk about the whole mess
- 33:06Speaker 1: that is Spider-Man being involved in now?
- 33:08Speaker 2: No, they shouldn't do it.
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's confirmed. I know it's confirmed. Like it's confirmed they
- 33:11Speaker 1: got enough rights to use him for Civil Wars and
- 33:13Speaker 1: apparently he might cameo in future Avengers stuff.
- 33:17Speaker 2: You know what he's allowed to do, according to me,
- 33:18Speaker 2: is like when Nick Fury's giving them the lowdown on
- 33:20Speaker 2: here's the guy we need to go kill and this
- 33:22Speaker 2: is how we're going to do it. He can sit
- 33:24Speaker 2: in the background and make fun, like hanging upside down
- 33:26Speaker 2: on the web and he's like poking fun at them.
- 33:28Speaker 1: You're not a Spider-Man fan? Are you not an Andrew
- 33:30Speaker 1: Garfield fan?
- 33:31Speaker 2: I'm a Spider-Man fan, and I'm an Andrew Garfield fan.
- 33:34Speaker 2: You just can't put him... Hang on. I'm not a
- 33:37Speaker 2: fan of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. Let's put it that way.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Well, I'm the one in three then. I liked him
- 33:44Speaker 1: as Spider-Man.
- 33:45Speaker 2: It's too much. You can't put him in the Marvel movies.
- 33:47Speaker 2: You cannot.
- 33:48Speaker 5: It is.
- 33:48Speaker 9: No, it's just.
- 33:50Speaker 1: It's so important for Civil War's art, though. He was such,
- 33:53Speaker 1: he was like that guy that could tip the scale.
- 33:56Speaker 1: And I did read those comics. I was all about that.
- 33:59Speaker 1: And when Stark made him the Iron Spider outfit, here's
- 34:02Speaker 1: the thing. If you only read strictly the Civil War's comics,
- 34:07Speaker 1: like just the ones that were called Civil War's, because
- 34:09Speaker 1: when I was the whole, what, like six months I
- 34:11Speaker 1: was going on, everyone's solo comics were still tied into
- 34:14Speaker 1: that storyline.
- 34:15Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 34:16Speaker 1: One of the greatest fights I've ever seen in my
- 34:18Speaker 1: life is just in Spider-Man's solo album, album, solo comic.
- 34:22Speaker 7: Oh man, I love that album.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Spider-Man's about to drop the hottest.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Album of 2015. He has a fight, you know, when
- 34:29Speaker 1: he first tries to leave Stark, there's a fully fleshed
- 34:33Speaker 1: out fight between Spider-Man and Stark. And there's this really
- 34:36Speaker 1: fantastically artsy end to it where it's like the panels,
- 34:41Speaker 1: the illustrated panels are like essentially showing that he's slowly
- 34:44Speaker 1: closing his eyes and having this inner thought And he's
- 34:46Speaker 1: kind of like, you know, I've always wondered like, you know,
- 34:49Speaker 1: how much web do I have? Like how much, you know,
- 34:52Speaker 1: could I really do if I really just went all in,
- 34:54Speaker 1: you know, and shot everything I had in me? Sounds
- 34:57Speaker 1: kind of pornographic. But like Stark is coming at him
- 35:00Speaker 1: like down the alley or whatever. And like, you know,
- 35:02Speaker 1: eventually that last panel, you know, like is like all
- 35:05Speaker 1: black where he's shut his eyes and he's just webbing
- 35:08Speaker 1: as much as he can. And you turn the page,
- 35:10Speaker 1: that last image is like the entire alley is a
- 35:13Speaker 1: block of white. It is all fucking web. But right
- 35:17Speaker 1: in the middle, you can see this glowing orange where
- 35:19Speaker 1: it's like stark in the middle of all this web
- 35:22Speaker 1: like stuck in it. It was like goosebumps. It was
- 35:25Speaker 1: so awesome. And it was like, if they put that
- 35:28Speaker 1: scene in the movie, oh my God, it will be
- 35:31Speaker 1: so awesome to like have Spider-Man just soloing Iron Man
- 35:36Speaker 1: like it's nothing.
- 35:38Speaker 9: You're getting your hopes very, very high.
- 35:40Speaker 2: So I guess I am hopeful about the Ghost in
- 35:42Speaker 2: the Shell movie with Scarlett Johansson. Well, here's what I'm
- 35:45Speaker 2: hopeful about. I hope that it does well enough to
- 35:48Speaker 2: get us the Akira movie.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Sigh. You know, here's the thing. I say here's the
- 35:55Speaker 1: thing a lot.
- 35:55Speaker 6: I apologize.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Ghost in the Shell. Yeah, there is those episodic versions,
- 36:02Speaker 1: but Ghost in the Shell the movie stands alone just fine.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I feel like Akira, that movie is good.
- 36:09Speaker 2: You need three stories.
- 36:10Speaker 1: But, oh my gosh, that comic is huge.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's massive.
- 36:13Speaker 1: And I would really, if you're going to try to
- 36:15Speaker 1: do that, please, at least. At least a trilogy, but
- 36:19Speaker 1: if not, go for TV. Please go for TV with it.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Netflix, pick it up.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, straight to Netflix. I'm totally behind that. I'm
- 36:26Speaker 1: totally behind that.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And please, internet gods, if you're listening, don't let the
- 36:30Speaker 2: Wachowskis have it.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Please don't let the Wachowskis have it. How weird is that?
- 36:34Speaker 1: There was a time when you would have loved the
- 36:36Speaker 1: Wachowskis to have something.
- 36:37Speaker 2: I would have loved the Wachowskis to have it, but
- 36:38Speaker 2: then they did Cloud Atlas, and then they did Jupiter Ascending.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I know it's not even out yet, but... I bet
- 36:44Speaker 2: in two years I'll re-listen to this and I'll be like,
- 36:46Speaker 2: I was right.
- 36:49Speaker 1: You hear that new DC movie, Suicide Squad.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I've heard about that.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Where Jared Leto's playing Joker. Did you hear that Will
- 36:58Speaker 1: Smith is playing Deadshot? Really? Will Smith is Deadshot.
- 37:01Speaker 2: I only read anything that has Harley Quinn's name in it. Well,
- 37:04Speaker 2: she's in it too, but I forget the name of
- 37:05Speaker 2: the girl playing her. I hadn't seen the movies that
- 37:07Speaker 2: she was in. What's the Leonardo DiCaprio makes lots of money?
- 37:11Speaker 3: Sick.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Wolf of Wall Street, it's her.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 37:14Speaker 2: She's very attractive.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I haven't seen her in anything.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't seen a picture of her.
- 37:17Speaker 2: She's very attractive.
- 37:18Speaker 1: But seriously, I'm just, I'm not pessimistic. I just, it's
- 37:23Speaker 1: a little, it makes my head spin a little to
- 37:25Speaker 1: imagine Jared Leto's Joker conversing with Will Smith as Deadshot.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Like to see that on a screen, I kind of
- 37:32Speaker 1: don't see it.
- 37:33Speaker 2: They're making a Batman movie without Batman.
- 37:37Speaker 4: Right?
- 37:37Speaker 1: Here's the thing, though. Like we were kind of talking earlier,
- 37:40Speaker 1: you know, about all those DC animated movies. The DC
- 37:44Speaker 1: animated movies are so good. They are so well-read.
- 37:47Speaker 5: They are.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Like, they are super good, and I've never understood... Exactly.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I've never understood why you can't take these scripts and
- 37:53Speaker 1: do movies because they're so... That Flashpoint Paradox movie would
- 37:58Speaker 1: destroy Avengers. And I love Marvel, but that story arc
- 38:02Speaker 1: is golden. What Batman is in that is so... above
- 38:07Speaker 1: and beyond. It's awesome. But the Suicide Squad one was
- 38:13Speaker 1: like the most recent one. It was just like a
- 38:14Speaker 1: year or so ago. And I was like, I thought
- 38:17Speaker 1: it was super good. It did not do that well.
- 38:19Speaker 1: But for me, what I thought was so incredible about
- 38:22Speaker 1: it was how interesting it was that Batman wasn't in
- 38:25Speaker 1: it in the sense that since you're following the villains,
- 38:28Speaker 1: it was neat that like, you know, in essence, they're like, okay,
- 38:31Speaker 1: you know, we're here at point A and we got
- 38:32Speaker 1: to get to point B across town and You know,
- 38:35Speaker 1: and someone would just be like, all right, well, let's
- 38:36Speaker 1: take main, turn left on second, let's go. And the
- 38:39Speaker 1: other guys would be like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Batman will
- 38:42Speaker 1: totally see us if we just walk down Main Street.
- 38:45Speaker 1: What are you talking about? And they're all like, oh, okay, sewers.
- 38:50Speaker 1: It was just so neat seeing them so paranoid of him.
- 38:53Speaker 1: To where like when he did show up, it was
- 38:55Speaker 1: like Godzilla showing up. It was all like, oh shit, run.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Like everyone's just like, get the fuck out of town.
- 39:00Speaker 2: But not Gareth Edwards Godzilla, right?
- 39:02Speaker 1: It was so, I thought it was incredibly interesting how
- 39:04Speaker 1: like you told this Batman story where he felt not
- 39:08Speaker 1: like the bad guy, but like the Terminator. He was
- 39:11Speaker 1: kind of like Arnold Schwarzenegger. He showed up and everyone
- 39:14Speaker 1: just broke. It was like, get the hell out. We'll
- 39:16Speaker 1: meet up later. Just get out of here. Batman's here.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I think the only problem with all this bullshit in
- 39:20Speaker 2: me is like, I'm what? I'm 29. And for the
- 39:24Speaker 2: first 24 years of my life, there was only.
- 39:30Speaker 2: One joker and now there's a new fucking joker every
- 39:33Speaker 2: two weeks and you know they should have really just
- 39:37Speaker 2: like even skipped heath ledger and just let mark hamill
- 39:39Speaker 2: be the joker He is pretty awesome.
- 39:41Speaker 1: He's pretty awesome. But he couldn't have done it on screen.
- 39:43Speaker 1: I love his voice, but he couldn't have done it
- 39:45Speaker 1: on screen. He'd have been drinking.
- 39:48Speaker 9: He's going to be back on screen.
- 39:50Speaker 1: That would be great. With the beard, it's great. He
- 39:52Speaker 1: looks really cool with the beard.
- 39:54Speaker 2: I completely support him. He's very Obi-Wan.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Which is what you want at this point. That's kind
- 40:00Speaker 3: of awesome.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Is he living on Dagobah?
- 40:01Speaker 2: Is he not living on Dagobah?
- 40:02Speaker 9: See, that's what I'm wondering as we loop back around
- 40:05Speaker 9: to Star Wars.
- 40:05Speaker 2: He's not Dagobah's student.
- 40:06Speaker 9: If all that, because they show all those scenes with sand,
- 40:10Speaker 9: and I'm like.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Do not take place on Dagobah.
- 40:13Speaker 9: Well, no, I'm just kind of like, in this, the
- 40:15Speaker 9: most remote planet, if there's a bright center of the universe,
- 40:20Speaker 9: it's the planet that's farthest from. Nobody freaking goes there,
- 40:23Speaker 9: but yet, the center of the damn universe, how many
- 40:26Speaker 9: movies have ended up back on this planet? I'm like,
- 40:30Speaker 9: oh my God, two out of the original trilogy ended
- 40:32Speaker 9: up back on this damn planet.
- 40:33Speaker 1: We went back there again. It's like the Bronx of
- 40:35Speaker 1: the universe, but apparently everything happens in the Bronx. Everything
- 40:38Speaker 1: happens in this shithole planet. I know. It's a desert planet.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Did you see on YouTube the fan-made George Lucas cut
- 40:47Speaker 2: of the trailer?
- 40:48Speaker 9: That was awesome.
- 40:49Speaker 1: It is amazing.
- 40:50Speaker 2: That was awesome. It basically takes every scene and computer
- 40:53Speaker 2: generates something more in the background. So when the guy
- 40:56Speaker 2: lifts his head up on Tatooine, there's like, Tandans and
- 40:59Speaker 2: Dungars in the background. And then like 18 more TIE Fighters.
- 41:03Speaker 9: Yeah, that's my favorite is the TIE Fighter that's already
- 41:05Speaker 9: surrounded by them and there's.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Just like 4,000 TIE Fighters.
- 41:09Speaker 2: And then like the lightsaber, it's like.
- 41:11Speaker 1: It's like a fan of blades comes out of it.
- 41:15Speaker 1: It's amazing. I recently watched the riff tracks of the
- 41:19Speaker 1: Star Wars trilogy.
- 41:20Speaker 9: Original?
- 41:22Speaker 5: No, they.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Well, that's what I was going to mention is they did.
- 41:24Speaker 9: Or one, two, and three.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Well.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Four, five, and six. For me, it's originals.
- 41:31Speaker 9: That's what I meant by originals.
- 41:33Speaker 1: The riff tracks of those, but the ones they did
- 41:34Speaker 1: were the updated ones with all the CGI stuff. There's
- 41:37Speaker 1: a lot more to make sure of. I was like,
- 41:39Speaker 1: oh my gosh, why is that thing in the background?
- 41:41Speaker 1: What is that there for? Come on, how did this
- 41:44Speaker 1: add to anything?
- 41:46Speaker 2: It added to my childhood, thank you, because I was 12.
- 41:48Speaker 2: That was sweet to see that one scene of the
- 41:53Speaker 2: Millennium Falcon flying through Class A.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Oh, dude, the end of the trailer?
- 41:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I was going to say, that was the one thing
- 41:58Speaker 1: for me, the most exceptional thing in the Episode 7
- 42:00Speaker 1: trailer was that Millennium Falcon at the end. Because you
- 42:03Speaker 1: didn't get that in the prequels. The Falcon was not
- 42:05Speaker 1: in the prequels. So seeing that again, I got a
- 42:08Speaker 1: little stiff. I got a little bit of wood there.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Wasn't it weird that they.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Didn't homage the Falcon in 1, 2, 3? They should
- 42:13Speaker 2: have had it when it was owned by whoever.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Didn't someone mention it in Episode 3? I thought in
- 42:17Speaker 1: a Clone Wars-ish one, someone mentioned it. I don't think so.
- 42:21Speaker 9: It wouldn't surprise me if they did, but I don't
- 42:23Speaker 9: remember that happening.
- 42:24Speaker 2: They should have, like, Lando should have pulled up for
- 42:26Speaker 2: a burger end or something, because it would have been
- 42:28Speaker 2: his at the time or whatever.
- 42:29Speaker 9: Right. Young him.
- 42:30Speaker 2: And he's going to be like, he's like young, he's
- 42:32Speaker 2: got like the fuzzy dice, and he's like, I'm going
- 42:34Speaker 2: to go to.
- 42:35Speaker 1: The Kessel Run or whatever. Or no, what would be
- 42:37Speaker 1: like a, what's a space creature? Instead of a cult, like,
- 42:41Speaker 1: you know.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Blaster 45. Yeah, it's got something. It's not as bulky
- 42:44Speaker 2: as a cult 45.
- 42:46Speaker 9: No, I think it'd be funny if he was still
- 42:48Speaker 9: hanging out with a young nine gnome.
- 42:49Speaker 5: Right?
- 42:51Speaker 9: It's like, dude, we're going to get some of my
- 42:52Speaker 9: chicks tonight.
- 42:53Speaker 6: All right.
- 42:53Speaker 1: It's a Nerf 45. It's Nerf herders, right?
- 42:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Nerf herders.
- 42:58Speaker 9: Or maybe it was like his father.
- 42:58Speaker 1: It's like saying Nerf. Like, it is just the word Nerf,
- 43:01Speaker 1: isn't it? Oh, Lucas, you're so original.
- 43:03Speaker 7: It's his father, so it's an 8-0.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Hey, Nerf didn't exist back then.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Maybe he invented Nerf.
- 43:08Speaker 8: God, Elvis.
- 43:09Speaker 2: But, so, this is another idea about Star Wars. It's
- 43:14Speaker 2: gotten real, like, little group of people versus the government
- 43:19Speaker 2: and galactic empire. But it started off with, like, all
- 43:22Speaker 2: his ideas coming from the really old samurai films about, like,
- 43:25Speaker 2: wearing your own samurai against the imperial government.
- 43:29Speaker 1: A piece of information that absolutely blew my mind was
- 43:34Speaker 1: that Lucas wanted Toshiro Mifune to play Darth Vader. How,
- 43:40Speaker 1: I mean, James Earl Jones is awesome, but me being
- 43:43Speaker 1: a samurai dork. Holy F. If Toshiro Mifune would have
- 43:47Speaker 1: played Darth Vader. Could you imagine how awesome it would
- 43:49Speaker 1: have been?
- 43:49Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. If Luke Skywalker, like of those movies,
- 43:53Speaker 2: they really didn't have sword choreography. So it was very
- 43:56Speaker 2: much like old medieval English sword fighting. Stupid sword fighting.
- 44:00Speaker 1: It's more fencing.
- 44:01Speaker 7: Yeah, fencing.
- 44:02Speaker 2: How cool would it have been if Darth Vader was
- 44:05Speaker 2: like katana style samurai work where it was just one stroke.
- 44:10Speaker 1: There was a game for PlayStation 1 called Jedi Battles.
- 44:15Speaker 1: It was a side-scrolling kind of platform thing, but you
- 44:17Speaker 1: got to pick somehow at the time. I don't think
- 44:20Speaker 1: the prequels were out, so I guess this was all
- 44:22Speaker 1: just fan fiction-ish. Official universe. You could pick four or
- 44:27Speaker 1: five different people to be, and they all had different
- 44:29Speaker 1: color sabers and stuff. But one of them did the
- 44:32Speaker 1: short sword down style, where the blade was going down,
- 44:35Speaker 1: and did a lot of side things. I thought that
- 44:38Speaker 1: was so amazing. And I was like, why don't you
- 44:40Speaker 1: flesh this kind of stuff out? Why does everyone... You know, dude,
- 44:43Speaker 1: just that standard sword fencing style, it's like, well, I mean,
- 44:47Speaker 1: obviously they kind of went with it with, you know,
- 44:49Speaker 1: Darth Maul, and obviously, you know, these new movies, everyone's
- 44:52Speaker 1: going to have, I mean, because this thing's like a
- 44:53Speaker 1: lightsaber claymore. That thing is big and wide.
- 44:57Speaker 2: But they need a return to the, like, this old
- 45:00Speaker 2: samurai movie way of, like, you're one hero, you're seven heroes, whatever,
- 45:05Speaker 2: but it's like, it's getting too political.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I wouldn't be offended if he just straight up homaged
- 45:14Speaker 1: kurosawa movies period it's like all right we're gonna grab
- 45:16Speaker 1: you know we need a side story mission for this
- 45:19Speaker 1: jedi yojimbo we're gonna write a sci-fi yojimbo here you
- 45:23Speaker 1: go you know we want something where like you know
- 45:26Speaker 1: they underestimate the struggle on this planet over here and
- 45:29Speaker 1: we set a couple jedi out cool seven samurai happening
- 45:31Speaker 1: over here on this planet i have no problem with
- 45:33Speaker 1: that like these stories like you know maybe to people
- 45:38Speaker 1: my age it would be regurgitated but These are good
- 45:41Speaker 1: classic stories. The core stories have been regurgitated so many
- 45:44Speaker 1: times and other, like I heard you're about to do
- 45:46Speaker 1: another Magnificent Seven movie. I mean, you know, this same
- 45:49Speaker 1: story has been told over and over and over because
- 45:52Speaker 1: it's that good. You know, it's like, I feel like
- 45:56Speaker 1: that's where you can do rebooting right. If it's a
- 45:59Speaker 1: good story, reboot that good story. Don't reboot something because
- 46:02Speaker 1: it was successful 20 years ago. That doesn't mean anything now.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Since all the Jedi are in hiding, lone wolf and cub.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Fuck yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Like Han and Leia's kid. Han and Leia's kid. And
- 46:14Speaker 1: Luke's kind of training them. They're kind of trying to
- 46:17Speaker 1: find a new place to set up the rebellion.
- 46:19Speaker 2: And like Emperor Palpatine's clone or whatever the bad guy
- 46:22Speaker 2: is in this one.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I wonder what they'll do to Horace and both of them.
- 46:24Speaker 1: They said they're not acknowledging Timothy's on, but there has
- 46:27Speaker 1: to be a new bad guy. I mean, there has
- 46:29Speaker 1: to be a new bad guy.
- 46:31Speaker 2: He has basically given it away. He is, I mean,
- 46:34Speaker 2: I don't know, and it's not really given away, but
- 46:36Speaker 2: I think it's Emperor Palpatine reincarnated. He's doing all this
- 46:40Speaker 2: fucking CG work with his cloak on.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Oh, you know, it's interesting. I did read, I don't
- 46:45Speaker 1: think this was like a legitimate person saying it. I
- 46:47Speaker 1: think there was someone like reporting on Star Wars, so
- 46:50Speaker 1: this isn't like fact, but he was making the argument
- 46:53Speaker 1: that you don't see Palpatine die. You know, it's like
- 46:56Speaker 1: you see him get thrown down that ravine And in
- 46:59Speaker 1: the same context, he's like, we saw that happen to Luke,
- 47:02Speaker 1: and Luke lived. Luke lived through that.
- 47:05Speaker 2: With one hand.
- 47:05Speaker 9: Right.
- 47:06Speaker 1: And he's like, there's nothing that says that Palpatine is dead. Like,
- 47:10Speaker 1: there was a big explosion of energy, but maybe he
- 47:13Speaker 1: blew up a reactor on the way down?
- 47:14Speaker 9: Like, I don't know.
- 47:15Speaker 1: You know, like, whatever he was doing to live, maybe it.
- 47:18Speaker 9: That seems like such a cop-out. Like, we can't even
- 47:20Speaker 9: come up with a new villain.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Where he gets reincarnated and all that bullshit.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I read the three Timothy Zahn books that were supposed
- 47:27Speaker 1: to be quoted, 7, 8, 9. And in those, like,
- 47:29Speaker 1: Palpatine was dead, but his essence was still in space. Like,
- 47:33Speaker 1: when Leia and whoever else was with her, they're on
- 47:35Speaker 1: their way to Kashyyyk, and they fly by that area.
- 47:40Speaker 1: And apparently, because she's sensitive to the Force, like, she feels, like,
- 47:43Speaker 1: this rage and this anger and this darkness to where
- 47:45Speaker 1: she's kind of like, oh, shit, that's not good. Like,
- 47:48Speaker 1: that felt... Forces it into a body a little bit. Yeah, like,
- 47:51Speaker 1: to where she was kind of, like, afraid about it. So, yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 1: I mean, they could go that angle. But, like I said,
- 47:56Speaker 1: you know, they... real quick to shoot down. When they announced,
- 47:59Speaker 1: not when they bought Star Wars, but when they announced
- 48:02Speaker 1: another trilogy, like the second thing out of their mouth
- 48:05Speaker 1: was like, it's not Timothy's on stuff.
- 48:07Speaker 9: Well, because they knew.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Like immediately. They're like, finally. There's so many good characters
- 48:12Speaker 1: in those books. Mara Jade is awesome.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Mara Jade is what it's all about.
- 48:16Speaker 1: That is Luke's wife. Serious, you want a good angle
- 48:19Speaker 1: for Luke's wife, it's Mara Jade. Like that whole angle
- 48:22Speaker 1: was great.
- 48:22Speaker 9: But I feel like the Luke we have now isn't
- 48:24Speaker 9: going to have a wife. He looks like he became Ben.
- 48:27Speaker 9: So it's like Ben's just an old crazy hermit living
- 48:30Speaker 9: by himself who at least has this connection to his
- 48:32Speaker 9: sister so he's not totally old crazy Ben.
- 48:35Speaker 1: But doesn't that mean that the only girl he's kissed
- 48:37Speaker 1: is his sister? Oh, that's fine. That's bad.
- 48:42Speaker 9: That's all right.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Slight tree branch. You know, they released all those photos
- 48:48Speaker 1: recently of like the behind the scenes of Star Wars.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I don't know if those were out way before or not,
- 48:52Speaker 1: but I've seen a lot of them lately where it's like, oh,
- 48:53Speaker 1: here's like 60 photos of, oh my God, Carrie Fisher
- 48:58Speaker 1: was hot.
- 48:58Speaker 2: She's so hot.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Like it's like, there was like 60 some photos and
- 49:01Speaker 1: 50 of them were her. Like everyone's just following her
- 49:03Speaker 1: around taking pictures.
- 49:04Speaker 9: I was like, gosh, Leia was hot.
- 49:06Speaker 1: I mean, I remember thinking she was cute, but this
- 49:08Speaker 1: was like another level. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 49:10Speaker 1: She was 80s fine for real. I'm following her around
- 49:14Speaker 1: with a camera, too.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Get off my plane.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I thought Hayden Christensen was really good.
- 49:22Speaker 2: Stand-alone Qui-Gon movie. Stand-alone Qui-Gon movie. Bring him back.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it's already confirmed.
- 49:27Speaker 2: I'll find you, and I'll kill you with my lightsaber.
- 49:30Speaker 1: It's already confirmed that Boba Fett's going to stand alone.
- 49:32Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 49:33Speaker 1: It's pretty much confirmed that there's some kind of a Han, Londo...
- 49:36Speaker 1: Young one, right? kind of thing. Something about their history. See,
- 49:41Speaker 1: I don't have... But you've got to recast them. That's
- 49:42Speaker 1: where it gets weird.
- 49:43Speaker 2: See, what's rough is when Han was originally shot, he
- 49:45Speaker 2: was young.
- 49:46Speaker 4: So how.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Is he going to be 12? Because how old was Harrison? 30-something.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Young enough.
- 49:53Speaker 1: He was still older than... Well, I mean, you know,
- 49:55Speaker 1: when I say young, I mean before.
- 49:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:56Speaker 1: You know, like, how did... You know, obviously, they used
- 50:00Speaker 1: to kick it. They were boys, so it's going to
- 50:02Speaker 1: be about them kicking it and tricking the Falcon.
- 50:04Speaker 2: I used to have such a problem with that. Drinking
- 50:07Speaker 2: grape soda.
- 50:10Speaker 9: I used to have such a problem with that, like, recasting.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Oh, you can't recast. And I'm like, you know what?
- 50:16Speaker 9: I'm kind of at the point now, I'm like, fuck it.
- 50:18Speaker 9: I'd rather have a good performance from somebody else than
- 50:21Speaker 9: worry about, it's.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Not the same guy.
- 50:23Speaker 3: I'm like, hmm.
- 50:25Speaker 9: And that's been that same thing with Indiana Jones. I'm like...
- 50:28Speaker 9: I'd rather see more versions of Indiana Jones. Get somebody good,
- 50:32Speaker 9: write a good script, shoot some more movies. I don't
- 50:34Speaker 9: care that it's not here to support anymore. He's too
- 50:37Speaker 9: old to do it. I liked the Young Indiana Jones
- 50:39Speaker 9: series when it was the teenage version. The little kid
- 50:42Speaker 9: was boring, but the other ones were good stories. And
- 50:45Speaker 9: I'm like, do more of those.
- 50:47Speaker 2: In fact, let the people who wrote the Young Indiana
- 50:51Speaker 2: Jones write the DC movies.
- 50:52Speaker 9: Really? like let them come back and do something i
- 50:55Speaker 9: don't know i think there's better story the same thing
- 50:57Speaker 9: star wars any any of this i'm like there's good
- 51:00Speaker 9: stories in that universe whichever one we're talking about like
- 51:04Speaker 9: as long as you tell a good story cast some
- 51:06Speaker 9: good actors get a decent director it's like i don't
- 51:09Speaker 9: i don't care i'm losing all of those like hard
- 51:12Speaker 9: bound like oh god you can't remake that oh god
- 51:14Speaker 9: you can't cast another actor like i don't know i
- 51:16Speaker 9: think i'm losing that that framework that used to be
- 51:19Speaker 9: so like geek oriented that i had i'm to the
- 51:22Speaker 9: point now i'm like i'd rather see good movies yeah
- 51:24Speaker 9: right i don't know they need to do some.
- 51:26Speaker 2: More of the more of the religious psycho-spiritualistic heavy shit
- 51:31Speaker 2: the occult stuff yeah it exists in the.
- 51:33Speaker 9: Because it pissed people off when we went into the
- 51:35Speaker 9: outer world right so go back to religion So what
- 51:40Speaker 9: we've learned is we don't really need to watch a
- 51:42Speaker 9: movie on these because we're just going to spiral off
- 51:44Speaker 9: and talk about others.
- 51:45Speaker 2: We just actually, what we need to do is in
- 51:47Speaker 2: a few weeks, let's do one of these and just
- 51:49Speaker 2: watch trailers on YouTube.
- 51:51Speaker 9: Now that I'm totally down with that.
- 51:53Speaker 7: We can definitely do that.
- 51:54Speaker 2: New Olivia Wilde movie where she's got demon eyes looking
- 51:57Speaker 2: real good.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Olivia Wilde.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Looking real good. I can get Wilde.
- 52:00Speaker 9: She is, but what about the movie?
- 52:02Speaker 2: Seriously?
- 52:06Speaker 3: So yeah, there's our plan.
- 52:07Speaker 1: We'll be back with trailer talk.
- 52:10Speaker 2: We can call that trailer trash.
- 52:17Speaker 9: Will the Trio of Terror ever actually get around to
- 52:19Speaker 9: talking about the movie they sat down to discuss? And
- 52:21Speaker 9: if so, can they focus on that movie for more
- 52:24Speaker 9: than ten minutes.
- 52:24Speaker 1: At a time?
- 52:25Speaker 9: Tune in to our next exciting installment for the answer
- 52:28Speaker 9: to these and many other questions you never really ask. Otherwise,
- 52:34Speaker 9: that about does it.
- 52:34Speaker 7: We will return next time.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 52:58Speaker 4: Through all the ragged truth, you left one pointed lie.
- 53:06Speaker 4: A nice series of words for goodbye. Who's playing on
- 53:10Speaker 4: your team? He has a certain flair. I'm stuck on
- 53:50Speaker 4: interface My heart does not forget Checking out at this
- 53:58Speaker 4: point is no sweat Chilled back.
- 54:01Speaker 9: To number nine.
- 54:05Speaker 1: You made my heart go blind You act so cold.
- 54:12Speaker 6: But you still look so fine. Crying on my heels.
- 54:22Speaker 6: Crying in tension and tears. Crying on my heels.
- 54:38Speaker 4: Crying tangents.
- 54:50Speaker 6: Crying tangents. Crying tangents. Crying down your tears Crying down
- 55:21Speaker 6: your tears Crying down your tears.
- 55:52Speaker 2: So yeah, before we watch this after the intro, I'm
- 55:54Speaker 2: definitely going to demo Transformers 3 for you. I'm sorry
- 55:58Speaker 2: it's Transformers 3, but it does have beautiful video and
- 56:01Speaker 2: wonderful audio.
- 56:03Speaker 3: And stupid plot.
- 56:04Speaker 4: Is this on?
- 56:04Speaker 2: Is this live?
- 56:05Speaker 9: You say words.
- 56:07Speaker 1: I just watched it.
- 56:08Speaker 2: I'm going to make you watch it.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Yeah, seriously, man. I have not seen the Teenage Mutant
- 56:15Speaker 1: Ninja Turtles movie. And I have not seen... I don't
- 56:19Speaker 1: know how many Transformers movies there even are now. I
- 56:21Speaker 1: saw the first one in theaters. Unfortunately. Gravitron.
- 56:24Speaker 3: They're all offensive.
- 56:26Speaker 2: No, the fourth one is exceptionally bad.
- 56:28Speaker 9: You love Marky Mark, don't you?
- 56:30Speaker 2: I am pumped that Marky Mark's in the fifth one.
- 56:33Speaker 2: But the fourth one has the worst CG I've ever
- 56:36Speaker 2: seen in my life.
- 56:37Speaker 5: So bad.
- 56:38Speaker 2: It's as bad as The Matrix Reloaded.
- 56:41Speaker 3: He's not even trying anymore, I'm pretty sure.
- 56:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to think what was bad about The Matrix Reloaded.
- 56:46Speaker 2: The Agent Smith 9 million fight scene.
- 56:48Speaker 1: You didn't like that?
- 56:49Speaker 2: I liked the fight scene. I did not like the CG.
- 56:52Speaker 2: When you can see it, like, bloop! And Keanu Reeves
- 56:54Speaker 2: is a stick figure. And his jacket does not reflect light.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he did kind of look like Stretch Armstrong there
- 57:00Speaker 1: for a while. Just looked very, like, He doesn't love
- 57:03Speaker 1: Stretch Armstrong. Keanu Reeves as Stretch Armstrong. No, like, I
- 57:09Speaker 1: have no interest in seeing the Turtles movies or the
- 57:11Speaker 1: Transformers movies.
- 57:12Speaker 2: He's supposed to.
- 57:13Speaker 9: That's how this works.
- 57:14Speaker 3: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
