Welcome to Film Curious, the podcast that takes a step back from the constant
• 0:04
media consumption to discover and ponder great films across genres and time.
• 0:09
A podcast where we let our intrigue guide us.
• 0:12
You can say we're addicted to the feeling that movies supply.
• 0:17
  But, why make a podcast?
• 0:19
I do have a microphone and some thoughts
• 0:21
and that's all you really need these days, right?
• 0:24
But if I'm being serious, it's because watching movies
• 0:26
isn't the only part of film that's great.
• 0:29
It's sharing that wonder and excitement,
• 0:32
the giddiness or heaviness, depending on the film, of walking out of a theater
• 0:37
or putting down the remote and needing to talk about what you experienced.
• 0:41
It's delving into worlds and mirrors they create for us.
• 0:44
It's asking ourselves the questions they pose and seeing how others relate.
• 0:49
Film connects us to places we may never go, kinds of people
• 0:52
we may never meet, stories we likely will never live,
• 0:56
but somehow, we're made to feel like we're there for it all.
• 0:59
So to all you film lovers, casual theatergoers, at-home
• 1:03
movie watchers, and streaming scrollers out there.
• 1:06
We hope this podcast can be a friend to you. One you
• 1:09
  listen to and talk
• 1:10
with or at when you don't know what to watch
• 1:13
or you don't have anyone to talk to you about what you've seen
• 1:16
or you have no idea what you just saw and want some help digesting it.
• 1:20
  We're here.
• 1:22
And who is this friend, you ask?
• 1:25
My name is Ashley Bernhardt and I'm the host of this thing.
• 1:28
You can say I'm a collector of interests, too many really.
• 1:31
I should probably get rid of some of them.
• 1:33
I'm a writer, photographer, video editor, motion designer,
• 1:37
and if my ambition endures and if fate permits, a filmmaker one day.
• 1:42
And I'll be joined from time to time by co-hosts who I think are much
• 1:46
smarter than me, especially when it comes to film and storytelling.
• 1:50
  You'll be hearing from me
• 1:51
each week about the movies that captivate and capture my attention,
• 1:54
as well as my wonderful co-hosts throughout the month.
• 1:57
Think of Film Curious as your gateway into any and every kind of movie,
• 2:02
and don't be afraid to explore whichever ones pique your interest.
• 2:06
  I know I will.
• 2:08
  So take a dip.
• 2:11
  The water's fine.
