- 1:02Keith Malinac,
- 1:03uh,
- 1:04has had a really bad health turn
- 1:06in his life.
- 1:07Uh,
- 1:08he was on the show doing a show in the studio here right next door,
- 1:11um,
- 1:12and in the middle of the show,
- 1:13uh,
- 1:13wound up not feeling right.
- 1:15In the middle of them talking,
- 1:17just kind of packed up his stuff and walked out in the middle of the Pat Gray program.
- 1:21Uh,
- 1:22Jeffy was texting him and saying,
- 1:23hey,
- 1:23dude,
- 1:23what's going on?
- 1:24You just,
- 1:24you left.
- 1:25He said,
- 1:25I think I'm having a stroke.
- 1:26He drove himself to the hospital,
- 1:28which is a line from Ferris Bueller.
- 1:30Ferris Bueller,
- 1:30he drove,
- 1:31would you believe he drove himself to the hospital?
- 1:34That's basically what Keith did,
- 1:36um,
- 1:36which does not surprise me at all with Keith.
- 1:38Um,
- 1:39but,
- 1:39uh,
- 1:40he had a serious stroke and is in real trouble and is fighting for his life right now,
- 1:45um,
- 1:46and,
- 1:46uh,
- 1:46he's in a coma
- 1:47and it's really rough,
- 1:48man.
- 1:48It's,
- 1:49it's eating me up,
- 1:50honestly,
- 1:51and,
- 1:51uh,
- 1:51I,
- 1:51you know,
- 1:52I hate starting shows with this type of stuff,
- 1:54but like I feel like it's important.
- 1:55If you are a person who is a praying person,
- 1:58uh,
- 1:58if you're not,
- 1:59uh,
- 1:59you should consider it.
- 2:00I think you might like,
- 2:01uh,
- 2:01you might like it,
- 2:01but if you are a person who,
- 2:03uh,
- 2:04would say prayers for Keith Malinak.
- 2:06Um,
- 2:06please do.
- 2:07He really needs them right now.
- 2:08Um,
- 2:09it is a,
- 2:09he's in a critical moment.
- 2:10I think he's,
- 2:11they described it as critical but stable condition.
- 2:14Uh,
- 2:14strokes,
- 2:14from what I understand,
- 2:15you know,
- 2:15the first week is really,
- 2:16really important.
- 2:17Uh,
- 2:17it gets rough for a week and hopefully it starts to improve.
- 2:20We hope he comes out of it.
- 2:21I don't know what to even expect,
- 2:22man,
- 2:23at this point.
- 2:23I'm,
- 2:23uh,
- 2:24this sucks.
- 2:25Uh,
- 2:26so I love Keith.
- 2:26He was on the show,
- 2:28this show,
- 2:28not that long ago.
- 2:29He was on for our NFL,
- 2:30uh,
- 2:31fantasy draft.
- 2:31He has a team in that,
- 2:32in that,
- 2:33in that draft.
- 2:34Huge Atlanta Falcons fan,
- 2:36um,
- 2:36and,
- 2:37uh,
- 2:37I don't know.
- 2:38I don't even know what to say about it.
- 2:39Uh,
- 2:39if you are interested in,
- 2:40if you have financial resources you'd like to help Keith out with,
- 2:43there's a gifts and go available,
- 2:45um,
- 2:45help Keith Malinak with,
- 2:47uh,
- 2:47medical bills,
- 2:48you know,
- 2:48as we all know,
- 2:49when these things happen,
- 2:50no one is prepared for them,
- 2:52so.
- 2:52Um,
- 2:53people are raising money.
- 2:54He's a great guy.
- 2:55I can't say enough about him.
- 2:56I love him.
- 2:57So
- 2:58this sucks.
- 2:59And I,
- 2:59uh,
- 2:59I don't know what to say about it,
- 3:01uh,
- 3:01other than that.
- 3:02So please help if you can.
- 3:03OK.
- 3:04Uh,
- 3:0522 days till the election,
- 3:06uh,
- 3:07a big election here,
- 3:08uh,
- 3:08all over the country,
- 3:09and,
- 3:09uh,
- 3:10there's early voting already happening in 14 states.
- 3:13The headlines are all over the place.
- 3:14Let me give you a few just to start you off.
- 3:16Senate flippers,
- 3:17uh,
- 3:17yes,
- 3:17it's happening.
- 3:18The Senate race is most likely to flip
- 3:20less than a month from election day.
- 3:22They go through a bunch of the races there for Senate control.
- 3:26Uh,
- 3:26Washington Post says Trump could face a new threat in January,
- 3:29a Democratic Senate.
- 3:30Which is a very real possibility now.
- 3:32I mean,
- 3:33prediction markets think it's over a 50% possibility.
- 3:36Gosh,
- 3:36it's hard to believe with the way this map is set up that they could,
- 3:39the Republicans could lose,
- 3:41but it is definitely possible.
- 3:42Money is
- 3:43flowing in.
- 3:44We might get into that on tomorrow's show a little bit more detail,
- 3:46but MAGA money moves,
- 3:47uh,
- 3:47Politico headline,
- 3:50uh,
- 3:50plots uh final midterm money moves.
- 3:53Uh,
- 3:54thanks for the alliteration
- 3:55on that one,
- 3:56Politico.
- 3:57Um,
- 3:57and,
- 3:58you know,
- 3:58the election is a big thing.
- 3:59Uh,
- 4:00it is,
- 4:00it's a tough thing and a lot of people have election,
- 4:03a lot of people who I talked to who watch this show or listen to the show on podcast,
- 4:06by the way,
- 4:07it's available at youtube.com/atpredictableshw,
- 4:09predictableshow.com,
- 4:10and wherever you get your podcast,
- 4:11if you go for the Predictable
- 4:13with Stu,
- 4:13you can find it.
- 4:15A lot of people who listen to the show and watch the show are like,
- 4:17I don't,
- 4:18like,
- 4:18I,
- 4:19I'm kind of interested in prediction markets,
- 4:20but it's not necessarily my top priority.
- 4:22I wanna know what's going on with the elections.
- 4:24And so we try to give you a,
- 4:25a blend of both of those things.
- 4:27That's what this show does.
- 4:28We look at election news,
- 4:30uh,
- 4:30and news of the day,
- 4:32uh,
- 4:32culture,
- 4:33sports,
- 4:33all those things through the lens of prediction markets.
- 4:36Um,
- 4:36but it's not like an insider trading show.
- 4:38We're not like,
- 4:39you know,
- 4:39going deep into jargon and,
- 4:40and,
- 4:41uh,
- 4:41trading strategies.
- 4:42We'll show you some of that stuff,
- 4:43especially unpredictableShow.com,
- 4:45but we,
- 4:45you know,
- 4:46wanna make sure you get the best information on the election
- 4:48as is possible.
- 4:49Um,
- 4:50Calci is one of the big prediction markets here in the United States.
- 4:53They have a midterms hub that kind of gives you a quick look.
- 4:56Like,
- 4:56do you have the Senate up by any chance here,
- 4:58Adam,
- 4:58can we show that?
- 4:59Um,
- 4:59this is the CalSci,
- 5:00uh,
- 5:01midterms
- 5:02hub that they put together,
- 5:03which kind of puts all their election information.
- 5:06Um,
- 5:06in one place,
- 5:08it makes it easy for you to understand.
- 5:10Um,
- 5:11uh,
- 5:11here it is.
- 5:11Yeah,
- 5:11scroll down to the map if you would,
- 5:12Adam.
- 5:13Uh,
- 5:13Democrats have a 62% chance,
- 5:15uh,
- 5:15to control the Senate,
- 5:16and if you look here,
- 5:17every state has a number on it.
- 5:18That's the percentage
- 5:19of that particular party to win.
- 5:21Blue means Democrat,
- 5:22red means Republican,
- 5:23of course.
- 5:24Yellow is a very close toss-up type state.
- 5:27Prediction markets only see two states
- 5:29that are less than have less than a 60% favorite.
- 5:32That would be Iowa with Ashley Hinson at 58%
- 5:34and Maine
- 5:35with,
- 5:36uh,
- 5:36I think that's,
- 5:37uh,
- 5:37it's,
- 5:38uh,
- 5:38I think,
- 5:38uh,
- 5:39yeah,
- 5:39it's Troy Jackson leading 57 to 43,
- 5:42um,
- 5:42in that particular race.
- 5:43All the other ones have favorites over 60% right now.
- 5:46And you can kind of look at these and you,
- 5:47and you could say,
- 5:48well,
- 5:48I think,
- 5:48uh,
- 5:48you know,
- 5:49in Ohio,
- 5:49actually Houston's the favorite.
- 5:50What are they doing?
- 5:51They don't know what they're talking about.
- 5:53Uh,
- 5:53and you look at that and you say,
- 5:54oh,
- 5:54actually,
- 5:54you know,
- 5:54Sherrod Brown's favored.
- 5:55Uh,
- 5:55he's actually at 59% or 60%,
- 5:58depending on,
- 5:58uh,
- 5:59what number you have,
- 6:00um,
- 6:00there.
- 6:01And
- 6:01one of the things I talk about with people is like,
- 6:03I think I know better than this,
- 6:04but I'm not gonna blow all my money on this.
- 6:06I'm not gonna go out there
- 6:08and go on prediction markets and put my money out there and
- 6:10wind up losing it because I don't know what I'm doing.
- 6:12There's a lot of really sharp people
- 6:14on,
- 6:14on these markets,
- 6:15some that have been doing it for a long time.
- 6:16I,
- 6:16as I said,
- 6:17I've been doing this,
- 6:18uh,
- 6:18since at least 2014.
- 6:20Um,
- 6:20on prediction markets.
- 6:22I've been there for a long time and I'm not nowhere near as sharp,
- 6:24right?
- 6:25Like there are people who really,
- 6:26there's like people from like Morgan Stanley and their trading,
- 6:28right?
- 6:28There,
- 6:29there's all sorts,
- 6:29just like when you're trading stocks.
- 6:31Um,
- 6:32or,
- 6:32or something like that.
- 6:33There's,
- 6:34if there's money to be made,
- 6:35there's experts in that field
- 6:36and really smart people in there trying to make it.
- 6:39So,
- 6:39I can understand why you might feel,
- 6:42uh,
- 6:42like I can't go on these prediction markets cause I don't wanna lose
- 6:45money.
- 6:46And we were trying to think of a way
- 6:48to,
- 6:48to get people to understand these markets,
- 6:49to play with them a little bit and,
- 6:51and have fun in these markets because that's a big part of this.
- 6:54This,
- 6:54you know,
- 6:54stock,
- 6:55stock trading.
- 6:55I mean,
- 6:55Jim Crammer,
- 6:56Jim Cramer,
- 6:57people make fun of Jim Cramer and,
- 6:58and get on his case.
- 6:59I,
- 6:59I've always liked Jim Cramer.
- 7:01He's an entertaining guy.
- 7:02And he makes,
- 7:03uh,
- 7:04he makes stock market,
- 7:05uh,
- 7:06trading fun.
- 7:06Like you watch that show and it's,
- 7:07he's got lots of energy and it's just a lot of fun.
- 7:10Um,
- 7:11with prediction markets,
- 7:12they're just fun.
- 7:12Like they're,
- 7:13whether you're involved in them on a day to day basis,
- 7:15if it's part of your investment portfolio,
- 7:17if you just drop a few bucks here and there because you're just interested in it,
- 7:20or if you never
- 7:22ever trade.
- 7:23That page that I just showed you,
- 7:24that midterms hub,
- 7:25gives you information about the election,
- 7:27does not give you,
- 7:28I mean,
- 7:28you can trade from it,
- 7:29but
- 7:30you can go there for free.
- 7:30You don't have to be logged in or anything.
- 7:32And you can get information about every state
- 7:34where people think that it's going to land.
- 7:3775% of people who go to Calci
- 7:39go there for that information.
- 7:41They never trade.
- 7:42And that's totally OK.
- 7:43But I do think it's fun
- 7:45to get involved in these things,
- 7:46and I think it's fun to kind of bring you a,
- 7:48a,
- 7:48a,
- 7:48a,
- 7:48a little bit along and then I was like,
- 7:49well,
- 7:50how can people do this without feeling like they're gonna lose a lot of money?
- 7:53We,
- 7:53what we need to do is come up with a way
- 7:54for people to participate in prediction markets
- 7:57without risking a cent.
- 7:59Now,
- 7:59of course,
- 8:00you could do that by just reading the information,
- 8:01but that's,
- 8:02you know,
- 8:02it's interesting,
- 8:03but not necessarily fun.
- 8:04You can get on prediction markets,
- 8:05but you gotta put,
- 8:06you gotta have some risk on that.
- 8:08Well,
- 8:08we came up with a new way,
- 8:10a way for you to participate in prediction markets
- 8:12to show whether you can pick these elections,
- 8:15right or wrong,
- 8:16and it won't cost you a cent.
- 8:18And you might say,
- 8:19well,
- 8:19that's kind of cool,
- 8:20I might wanna try that out to see if I can test my my my will,
- 8:23but
- 8:23I wanna go a little farther than that,
- 8:25because not only
- 8:26can you come and do this with us,
- 8:29and uh participate in what I'm about to show you
- 8:31for free,
- 8:33but also,
- 8:33you'll have a chance for us to fund your prediction market for you.
- 8:38We
- 8:39have started something new,
- 8:41uh,
- 8:41at predictableShow.com.
- 8:43And,
- 8:43uh,
- 8:44if you wanna get to it directly,
- 8:45you can go to
- 8:46senatefantasy.com or Senate Fantasy League.com,
- 8:50wherever you wanna go.
- 8:50One of those two.
- 8:51It's a fantasy league,
- 8:52OK?
- 8:53We've set it up like a fantasy league that uses real prediction market data
- 8:57for you to test your predictions
- 9:00and your uh uh uh uh uh your market acuity
- 9:03against everyone
- 9:05that you know around the country and more.
- 9:07Um,
- 9:08We've removed all the risk from this,
- 9:10so you can't lose any money.
- 9:12You can,
- 9:12well,
- 9:12we can lose money cause we're gonna,
- 9:14we're gonna give you money
- 9:15if you win.
- 9:15Um,
- 9:16but there are cash prizes to this that you can fund your election market account.
- 9:19I mean,
- 9:19technically,
- 9:20I can't tell you what you can do with the money.
- 9:21You can do with it whatever you want.
- 9:22If you wanna,
- 9:23you know,
- 9:23you wanna buy it on,
- 9:24uh,
- 9:24those,
- 9:24those new Taco Bell meal boxes,
- 9:26that's fine too.
- 9:27But
- 9:27the idea here is to kind of fund your prediction market
- 9:30account or add to your prediction market account if you want.
- 9:33We'll do that for you.
- 9:34If you wanna take place,
- 9:35uh,
- 9:36take part in the Senate,
- 9:37Senate Fantasy League.
- 9:39This is something that I developed.
- 9:41Uh,
- 9:41I'm,
- 9:41I love these ideas.
- 9:42These are really fun for me.
- 9:44I hope they're fun for you as well.
- 9:46And you can do this for free at Senatefantasy.com.
- 9:49Let's bring it up.
- 9:50Senate Fantasy.com.
- 9:51This is what it looks like right now.
- 9:51It is live.
- 9:52You can draft your Senate fantasy team.
- 9:55You're gonna pick 8 candidates from 8 Senate races.
- 9:59Your score,
- 10:00you don't have to worry about that.
- 10:01We will calculate all of that for you and put it on a nice big leaderboard.
- 10:05Um,
- 10:05there are,
- 10:06uh,
- 10:06you know,
- 10:06of course,
- 10:06you know,
- 10:07rules to play,
- 10:07but it's free to play.
- 10:09No purchase necessary.
- 10:11And I think,
- 10:12uh,
- 10:12Monday,
- 10:13uh,
- 10:13November 2nd,
- 10:13yeah,
- 10:13it's midnight,
- 10:14basically the night before election.
- 10:17Uh,
- 10:17election day.
- 10:18So you can,
- 10:18you can join this at any time up till
- 10:20then.
- 10:21Uh,
- 10:21if you scroll down,
- 10:21how to enter,
- 10:22kind of gives you some,
- 10:23uh,
- 10:23overview stuff.
- 10:24So,
- 10:24you can sign in,
- 10:25you draft 8 candidates,
- 10:26candidates,
- 10:26you just have to submit it before the lock time.
- 10:29The scoring basically starts,
- 10:30uh,
- 10:31every team score starts with a score of 1000 and
- 10:33it goes up and down depending on what you picked.
- 10:36Um,
- 10:36and the,
- 10:37the price that you get at the time that you draft is what locks in.
- 10:41Um,
- 10:41if you go down to prizes,
- 10:42there we go.
- 10:42Uh,
- 10:43first place,
- 10:432500 bucks.
- 10:45Nothing wrong,
- 10:452500 bucks.
- 10:47Put that in a prediction market account,
- 10:48we'll grow it together.
- 10:49Second place,
- 10:50$1000 in cash.
- 10:51Third place,
- 10:51$500 in cash.
- 10:52If you finish in the top 10
- 10:54$100 in cash,
- 10:55plus,
- 10:56uh,
- 10:56by the way,
- 10:57that first place,
- 10:58lifetime premium subscription to predictableshow.com.
- 11:02Uh,
- 11:02second place,
- 11:03you get a year of the premium subscription as well.
- 11:05It's 3rd place,
- 11:06and then,
- 11:06uh,
- 11:07you get a year as well premium subscription for 4th to 10th.
- 11:10And then,
- 11:10even if you finish in the top 100,
- 11:12you get something,
- 11:12you get 3 months free of the premium subscription.
- 11:15All sorts of stuff goes on.
- 11:15So let's,
- 11:16let me show you how this works real quick.
- 11:17Let's just do a little,
- 11:18uh,
- 11:18there is a practice draft
- 11:20that is available right on that home screen,
- 11:22so you can try this a few times before you submit your official team.
- 11:25Uh,
- 11:26only one entry per email address,
- 11:28so you gotta get that done.
- 11:29But,
- 11:30uh,
- 11:30I don't know if there's some,
- 11:31there might be some limit on how many you can total do in total,
- 11:34but one per email address.
- 11:35Um,
- 11:36you,
- 11:36I don't know,
- 11:37maybe you can get a couple in there,
- 11:38a couple of different email addresses.
- 11:39You got a work address,
- 11:40you got a home address,
- 11:40maybe you got a couple of teams in there even.
- 11:42Um,
- 11:42OK,
- 11:42so you go in there and do,
- 11:44let's do try a practice draft to kind of show how this works.
- 11:46This is basically exactly what it looks like
- 11:48when you do it.
- 11:49Um,
- 11:49it says to sign in and draft your team.
- 11:51So,
- 11:51uh,
- 11:52team name,
- 11:53uh,
- 11:54How about uh where is?
- 11:57James Tallarico.
- 12:00Why not?
- 12:01I mean,
- 12:01we found him,
- 12:01but he's so small,
- 12:02you could lose him in a crowd easily,
- 12:04to be honest.
- 12:05OK,
- 12:05Adam's gonna put his name in there.
- 12:06He's filling this out for me.
- 12:08And you do start practice and this will bring you to the draft,
- 12:10uh,
- 12:11rules screen.
- 12:12Quickly with the rules.
- 12:13You're gonna draft 8 candidates from each different races.
- 12:15You don't have to be like,
- 12:16oh gosh,
- 12:16do I have to know everything about the race?
- 12:18We're gonna give you the information as you go.
- 12:19The site will calculate your score.
- 12:20You don't have to worry about that.
- 12:22The one thing in the rules that is important for you to know is your MVP,
- 12:25your most valuable politician.
- 12:27Um,
- 12:27that one will count double.
- 12:29So,
- 12:30that's the first pick you're gonna make.
- 12:31We'll show you that here in a second.
- 12:32All teams score,
- 12:33uh,
- 12:33start with a score of 1000.
- 12:35It'll go up and down from there.
- 12:36If a long shot wins,
- 12:37your score will increase a lot.
- 12:38If a heavy favorite wins,
- 12:39your score will increase a little.
- 12:41Uh,
- 12:41if your long shot loses,
- 12:43your score will decrease a little.
- 12:44If your heavy favorite loses,
- 12:46your score will decrease a lot.
- 12:48Uh,
- 12:48a bunch of other stuff,
- 12:49you gotta be 18 year old or blah,
- 12:50blah,
- 12:50blah,
- 12:50blah,
- 12:51blah.
- 12:51OK.
- 12:51So start the draft.
- 12:52Let's go to this,
- 12:53and I'll explain the scoring system a little bit as we go.
- 12:55This is your,
- 12:55uh,
- 12:56main draft screen.
- 12:57And I'll explain this for people on podcast as well.
- 12:59What we're looking at here
- 13:00is a fancy map of the United States of America with
- 13:04every state there's a Senate race going on highlighted for you.
- 13:07Uh,
- 13:07the,
- 13:07uh,
- 13:07there's a special highlight for the kind of close races,
- 13:10right?
- 13:10The ones we've been talking about most often,
- 13:11which is Alaska,
- 13:12Texas,
- 13:13Kansas,
- 13:14Nebraska,
- 13:14Iowa,
- 13:15Michigan,
- 13:16Ohio,
- 13:17and Maine,
- 13:18thought to be the most competitive races.
- 13:20They're highlighted in yellow
- 13:22if you're looking for those specifically,
- 13:23but every race is listed.
- 13:25Now,
- 13:26your first draft here,
- 13:27uh,
- 13:27round 1 of 8 is your most valuable politician,
- 13:29your MVP,
- 13:30uh,
- 13:31and your win or loss will count 2 times.
- 13:33So,
- 13:34the way to think about this
- 13:36is if,
- 13:37let's click on,
- 13:38uh,
- 13:38let's do,
- 13:39um,
- 13:41Let's do Nebraska.
- 13:42Click on Nebraska here in honor of our friend Keith Malinak,
- 13:45who,
- 13:45by the way,
- 13:46would love this idea.
- 13:48He's,
- 13:49he's a fantasy and,
- 13:50and a,
- 13:50uh,
- 13:51fantasy league and a politician,
- 13:52uh,
- 13:53a politics nerd,
- 13:54so he would absolutely love this.
- 13:56So you click on the state and it brings up the candidates that are available there.
- 13:59Pete Ricketts
- 14:00at 69%,
- 14:01and Dan Osborne,
- 14:02the independent
- 14:03slash Democrat at 31%.
- 14:06Um,
- 14:07You can pick either one of these
- 14:10to be
- 14:11your,
- 14:12uh,
- 14:12your candidate.
- 14:13Now,
- 14:13what,
- 14:13if you think about it this way,
- 14:14if you take,
- 14:15uh,
- 14:15Pete Ricketts at 69%,
- 14:18you've got 31 cents of profit there,
- 14:20right?
- 14:2031% of profit.
- 14:21It can go,
- 14:21it's,
- 14:22if you,
- 14:22if you're correct,
- 14:23it's gonna go from 69% to 100%.
- 14:24So you're gonna get 31%.
- 14:26Uh,
- 14:26there,
- 14:27and of course,
- 14:27this being the MVP,
- 14:28you're gonna get double that percentage.
- 14:30Uh,
- 14:31if you were to go to Dan Osborne,
- 14:32you're getting it at 31%,
- 14:34so you got 69%.
- 14:36Much more room on the upside
- 14:37and much less room on the downside.
- 14:40However,
- 14:41if you lose,
- 14:41you get 0 points for that candidate.
- 14:43If you win,
- 14:43you get that profit percentage.
- 14:45So,
- 14:45uh,
- 14:46let's just,
- 14:46uh,
- 14:47pick Pete Ricketts here as our MVP.
- 14:49So you draft him and if you see on the right side of your screen,
- 14:52You have your lineup kind of forming there.
- 14:54Your MVP at the top,
- 14:56Pete Ricketts,
- 14:56he's locked in at 69%.
- 14:59Then your next round,
- 15:01round 2,
- 15:01you have to draft a Republican.
- 15:04As it notes in the rules there,
- 15:05you don't have to agree with their policies,
- 15:06you don't have to like them.
- 15:07Remember,
- 15:08these are prediction markets.
- 15:09You're taking your,
- 15:10uh,
- 15:10emphasis out of this.
- 15:11Uh,
- 15:12you,
- 15:12you don't invest with your heart.
- 15:14That's the 12th Amendment to the predictable Constitution.
- 15:16Do not invest with your heart.
- 15:17So,
- 15:18you might be a Democrat and be like,
- 15:19I don't wanna pick a Republican.
- 15:20Well,
- 15:20you have to.
- 15:21If you want to participate in this contest,
- 15:22you gotta pick one.
- 15:23So pick one,
- 15:23maybe go to,
- 15:24uh,
- 15:24Maine.
- 15:25Uh,
- 15:26click on Maine and you bring that up.
- 15:27You got Susan Collins there.
- 15:28If you note here,
- 15:29you can't pick Troy Jackson cause he's a Democrat.
- 15:31This is a Republican-only round,
- 15:33so you pick Susan Collins,
- 15:34she's at 33.
- 15:36Is that right?
- 15:3633%?
- 15:38I don't think that's right.
- 15:38We just looked at that.
- 15:39She's like a 40-something.
- 15:41Hm,
- 15:42there's something wrong with that.
- 15:42Anyway,
- 15:43this is a test run,
- 15:44doesn't really matter that that might be locked with earlier prices.
- 15:46OK,
- 15:46so you click draft.
- 15:47Uh,
- 15:48so you have,
- 15:48uh,
- 15:48Susan Collins locked in at 33%.
- 15:51Then
- 15:52you go,
- 15:53uh,
- 15:53to the next round,
- 15:54which is draft a Democrat.
- 15:55Again,
- 15:55you might not like Democrats.
- 15:56You might think they're,
- 15:57they suck.
- 15:58Their taxes are too high.
- 15:59It doesn't matter.
- 16:00You're looking for opportunity.
- 16:02Which
- 16:02one can you find that has the,
- 16:04uh,
- 16:04lowest price
- 16:06that you think is going to win?
- 16:07So here we might go to,
- 16:09I mean,
- 16:09our name is where is James Tallarico?
- 16:11Let's pick James Tallarico in Texas.
- 16:13So you click on Texas,
- 16:14right there,
- 16:14there's James Tallarico.
- 16:15He's at 60% right now.
- 16:16You click draft on him.
- 16:18Uh,
- 16:18then you,
- 16:19you go by regions here,
- 16:20uh,
- 16:21the eastern region.
- 16:22Um,
- 16:22we already picked Susan Collins in Maine.
- 16:24Let's go to North Carolina and pick Cooper.
- 16:27There,
- 16:27uh,
- 16:28he's at 92%.
- 16:29So,
- 16:30again,
- 16:30he is probably gonna win.
- 16:31He's a heavy favorite.
- 16:32You don't have that much of a run on Roy Cooper.
- 16:35Uh,
- 16:36but,
- 16:36uh,
- 16:37you know,
- 16:38you,
- 16:38uh,
- 16:39you do have a big downside there.
- 16:41If you go with his opponent in that.
- 16:42Race,
- 16:43you've got a big,
- 16:44you have a lot of upside and only a little bit of downside.
- 16:47So it's,
- 16:47it's a balancing act here.
- 16:49Which way will you go?
- 16:50The,
- 16:50uh,
- 16:51the Southern region,
- 16:52region,
- 16:53a lot of states there,
- 16:54not a lot of close races.
- 16:55Let's go to South Carolina there and maybe pick,
- 16:57uh,
- 16:57Graham Nordone.
- 16:58Um,
- 16:59Darlene Graham Nordone,
- 17:00she's at 87%.
- 17:01We get a little bit of value maybe out of that if she,
- 17:02you know,
- 17:03wins.
- 17:03And I,
- 17:03I,
- 17:03I keep telling you this though,
- 17:04that is at the fringes of the wave.
- 17:07That race is at the fringes of the wave.
- 17:10Usually what happens in South Carolina is
- 17:12Democrats get a couple of polls,
- 17:13they get excited and lose.
- 17:15If this is a,
- 17:16that's one of the ways you'll know if this is a really big Democratic wave,
- 17:18if somehow she wins.
- 17:20Uh,
- 17:21let's go with Ashley Hinson in Iowa from the Midwest,
- 17:23our next round
- 17:24here in the 6th out of 8.
- 17:26Uh,
- 17:27there,
- 17:27and then we,
- 17:28uh,
- 17:28from the west,
- 17:29we can go with,
- 17:30what do we think here?
- 17:31Let's go,
- 17:31um,
- 17:32let's get in the,
- 17:33let's get mixed up in the Alaska thing for a second.
- 17:35Let's go with,
- 17:35uh,
- 17:36Sullivan in Alaska.
- 17:37You got a big,
- 17:37uh,
- 17:37underdog.
- 17:38Uh,
- 17:39he's only at 30% right now.
- 17:40You got a nice run there.
- 17:41And finally,
- 17:42at the end,
- 17:43uh,
- 17:43we've got a flex position.
- 17:44So have you ever done fantasy leagues before?
- 17:46Usually you have a position that's called the flex position,
- 17:49which means you can kind of go anywhere you want.
- 17:50So this is similar
- 17:51to that first round where you could pick any state in the country.
- 17:54However,
- 17:54this one only counts once.
- 17:55Your flex position,
- 17:56let's go.
- 17:58Uh,
- 17:58let's go to Minnesota.
- 17:59Let's pick another underdog here.
- 18:00Go to Minnesota.
- 18:01Give me a long shot here with,
- 18:02uh,
- 18:02Michelle Tafoya.
- 18:04She's at 10%.
- 18:05Uh,
- 18:05it's close play with polling.
- 18:06Let's give it a shot.
- 18:07OK.
- 18:07So this is our,
- 18:08our,
- 18:08uh,
- 18:09lineup here.
- 18:09It gives you,
- 18:10you picked all your picks,
- 18:11uh,
- 18:12starting score of 1000,
- 18:13uh,
- 18:13it gives you your MVP.
- 18:14Susan,
- 18:15we got Pete Ricketts,
- 18:16Susan Collins,
- 18:16James Tallarico,
- 18:17Roy Cooper,
- 18:18Darlene Graham Nordone,
- 18:19Ashley Hinson,
- 18:20and Dan Sullivan,
- 18:21and oh,
- 18:21Michelle Tafoya
- 18:22in our flex position.
- 18:24Uh,
- 18:24now,
- 18:24you get to lock it in here on the,
- 18:26on the right.
- 18:26Let's say though,
- 18:27you're like,
- 18:27you know what,
- 18:28I don't think,
- 18:29I think Michelle Tafoya is too much of a reach there.
- 18:31Go to change picks.
- 18:33If you click change picks,
- 18:34it'll bring you back to the screen.
- 18:35And if you go to your team on the right,
- 18:37uh,
- 18:37there's a team block there.
- 18:39You just go down to,
- 18:40um,
- 18:41uh,
- 18:41your team at the bottom where it says Michelle Tafoya.
- 18:44There's an X
- 18:45next to that.
- 18:46Um,
- 18:47and you just click the X,
- 18:48or let's,
- 18:48maybe let's get rid of Darlene Graham Nordone.
- 18:50How about that in the southern region,
- 18:52Adam.
- 18:52So on the right there where it says your team,
- 18:55uh,
- 18:55Darlene Graham Norman,
- 18:55click X,
- 18:56and then it'll clear that one out,
- 18:57and then it will bring you back to the southern screen.
- 18:59You can click instead Georgia
- 19:01and go with,
- 19:02uh,
- 19:02Mike Collins.
- 19:03Uh,
- 19:04so you go there and that's,
- 19:05that it brings you to this lock it in stream.
- 19:07When you're done locking it in.
- 19:08Uh,
- 19:08you have to click the 18 or older,
- 19:10one entry per email address,
- 19:11uh,
- 19:11blah,
- 19:12blah,
- 19:12blah,
- 19:12legal jargon we had to put in there.
- 19:15And then you save your team,
- 19:16and
- 19:16when you save your team,
- 19:17it'll email you your team,
- 19:19you'll get access,
- 19:20you'll understand where you are,
- 19:22um,
- 19:22what your team is,
- 19:24and then you'll have a leaderboard.
- 19:25Click on see the leaderboard.
- 19:26I don't know if that'll work here with the practice team,
- 19:27but,
- 19:28uh,
- 19:28yeah,
- 19:28uh,
- 19:29some,
- 19:29there's one team in there called the Tizzlers.
- 19:31I don't know who the,
- 19:32who the Tizzlers are,
- 19:33but there they are.
- 19:34Uh,
- 19:35the Tizzlers are in,
- 19:36uh,
- 19:36their with their fantasy league.
- 19:38Um,
- 19:39yeah,
- 19:39there is a premium subscriber with that name.
- 19:41What is it?
- 19:41Is it Tizzle or Tizzler Tizzler?
- 19:43Yeah,
- 19:43something like that.
- 19:44Um,
- 19:44so maybe that's his team.
- 19:45Uh,
- 19:45maybe he's the first one in here.
- 19:46I don't know.
- 19:47I'm just looking at this for the first time.
- 19:48Um,
- 19:48but
- 19:49that's what it is.
- 19:50There'll be a leaderboard there.
- 19:51It will update regularly,
- 19:52like,
- 19:53you know,
- 19:53multiple times a day,
- 19:54uh,
- 19:54as the,
- 19:54as the prediction market data changes.
- 19:57You'll start right at 1000.
- 19:59Every team starts at 1000 and depending on the values of these markets,
- 20:02it'll go up and down.
- 20:03You don't have to worry about that cause it'll calculate it for you.
- 20:04You get to see where your,
- 20:06uh,
- 20:06position is on the leaderboard.
- 20:07Uh,
- 20:08it's a lot of fun
- 20:09and,
- 20:10uh,
- 20:10it'll continue to update as you go.
- 20:12I mean,
- 20:13you know,
- 20:13like if you wanna put one in,
- 20:14uh,
- 20:14right away,
- 20:15uh,
- 20:15it's great.
- 20:16If you wanna put it in,
- 20:18wait a little bit,
- 20:18you can maybe put one in from your work address,
- 20:20one in from your home address,
- 20:21whatever you want.
- 20:21You know,
- 20:21just don't go too crazy with it.
- 20:22I mean,
- 20:23no they'll,
- 20:23it'll pick up bots and stuff trying to get like 50,000 entries in there.
- 20:26But,
- 20:27you know,
- 20:27put,
- 20:27you wanna put a couple in,
- 20:28a couple of different
- 20:29ways to play,
- 20:30uh,
- 20:30feel free.
- 20:32Check it out.
- 20:32It's gonna be a lot of fun and it's a way to understand these markets.
- 20:35Test your predictions against your friends.
- 20:36Send it around to your friends.
- 20:38Post it on social media,
- 20:39get it out there
- 20:40because we wanna get a lot of people in here and it'll be a lot of fun.
- 20:42I guess if you're trying to win the money,
- 20:43you're like,
- 20:43I don't want anyone else in here.
- 20:44What am I doing?
- 20:45But it's gonna be fun.
- 20:46It's gonna be a fun exercise
- 20:47and you can go up against
- 20:49uh your friend.
- 20:49Maybe at some point we'll send away.
- 20:51For you to group you versus your friends.
- 20:53That would be a fun feature to add,
- 20:54like,
- 20:55you know,
- 20:55you all can
- 20:56kind of subscribe together,
- 20:57to make a little friend circle for a little side league.
- 20:59We'll also be having some of the people from,
- 21:01uh,
- 21:02you know,
- 21:02I'm sure some of the people of the Blaze will jump in,
- 21:04uh,
- 21:04friends of the show and everything else.
- 21:05We'll have a way where you can see how we're
- 21:08doing in these things because I'm gonna submit a team.
- 21:11I don't know.
- 21:11If I win,
- 21:11do I get the money?
- 21:12Does that work,
- 21:13Adam?
- 21:14I don't see why not.
- 21:16I mean,
- 21:16I,
- 21:16I should get the cash.
- 21:18You know,
- 21:19if I win,
- 21:19I get the cash,
- 21:20right?
- 21:21There's a lot of strategy that goes into it.
- 21:23If you think of,
- 21:24uh,
- 21:24I'm gonna pick all people at 95% and I'll win all of them.
- 21:27That's good,
- 21:28but,
- 21:29of course,
- 21:29you're only getting that 5 cents of profit.
- 21:31So your score
- 21:32will be above 1000,
- 21:34but it might not be way above 1000.
- 21:36And if you lose one of those big ones,
- 21:37you're gonna,
- 21:38you know,
- 21:38drop a lot of points because of that.
- 21:40You might say,
- 21:41I'm gonna go with all long shots.
- 21:42Well,
- 21:42that's cool.
- 21:43You got a lot of upside there.
- 21:44And if you hit a bunch of them,
- 21:45you probably will win the competition,
- 21:47but
- 21:47Everyone that you lose,
- 21:48you're just gonna wind up dropping and you'll probably be below 1000.
- 21:52It's not a lot of people with 5% chances win.
- 21:55If you catch the right one though,
- 21:56it could be interesting.
- 21:57Uh,
- 21:57it's gonna be,
- 21:58I think,
- 21:58an interesting mix between,
- 22:00um,
- 22:00people
- 22:01taking
- 22:01the,
- 22:02the heavy favorites,
- 22:03maybe a mixture,
- 22:04maybe a bunch of underdogs.
- 22:05I don't know.
- 22:06Uh,
- 22:06it's,
- 22:07it's gonna be really cool to see how you guys decide to build your teams,
- 22:11and it will be a really fun exercise to watch this play out over the next 3 weeks.
- 22:15Again,
- 22:15I don't know if we have that prize screened up again,
- 22:16but
- 22:17The prizes are pretty cool.
- 22:18Uh,
- 22:19we're starting out with,
- 22:20I mean,
- 22:20maybe,
- 22:20I don't know,
- 22:21maybe if this thing gets successful,
- 22:22we'll,
- 22:22uh,
- 22:22we'll even grow the prizes,
- 22:23who knows?
- 22:24But it's 2500 bucks for first place.
- 22:26Uh,
- 22:26I think it's $1000 for second place,
- 22:28uh,
- 22:28and third place is $500.
- 22:29Top 10,
- 22:30gets you 100 bucks to put in your,
- 22:31uh,
- 22:31prediction market account.
- 22:33Uh,
- 22:33and then a bunch of cool other perks
- 22:35like subscriptions to predictableShow.com and so much more.

- 23:11That's what's gonna happen.

- 23:15This is what happens to my fantasy team.
- 23:16You know what my big,

- 23:48Back in a second.
- 24:08Welcome to Candidate Countdown.
- 24:10We look at one candidate a day that you
- 24:11might wanna consider for a prediction market position,
- 24:14one that I'm looking at.
- 24:15Usually,
- 24:15we take it from,
- 24:16directly from Stu's picks.
- 24:17By the way,
- 24:18all my picks,
- 24:18it's over 350 of them now
- 24:20in every prediction market,
- 24:22uh,
- 24:22that I hold,
- 24:22every position that I hold is available
- 24:25at predictableShow.com for premium subscribers.
- 24:27So if that's interesting to you.
- 24:28If you're in these markets,
- 24:29wanna test out where I am and check those out.
- 24:32It's all available at predictableshow.com.
- 24:34We did have a curse going on for a while.
- 24:36It it seemed like every candidate I featured in this,
- 24:39uh,
- 24:40was immediately cursed.
- 24:41That seems to have passed mostly.
- 24:43I think most of my positions now have come back to pretty much normal.
- 24:46That's good,
- 24:47um,
- 24:47uh,
- 24:48at least for my,
- 24:49my wallet.
- 24:50Um,
- 24:50today's though,
- 24:51countdown,
- 24:51candidate countdown,
- 24:52we're only 22 days away from the,
- 24:54uh,
- 24:54midterm election,
- 24:55and today's candidate is going to be
- 24:57Roy Cooper,
- 24:59Democrat
- 25:00from North Carolina.
- 25:02Now,
- 25:02I will say,
- 25:02I got in on,
- 25:03look how nice he looks,
- 25:05right?
- 25:05He just seems like a nice guy.
- 25:06Doesn't he?
- 25:07Look at him.
- 25:08He's just a nice guy,
- 25:09look at that kind smile,
- 25:11the nice warm window sill in the background.
- 25:14It was a nice day when this picture was taken,
- 25:16isn't it?
- 25:17Look at him.
- 25:18I mean how could you not vote for that guy?
- 25:20Now,
- 25:20I don't like a lot of his policies,
- 25:21so that's probably why I wouldn't personally vote for him,
- 25:22but
- 25:23That being said,
- 25:24he is,
- 25:25uh,
- 25:25I think a heavy favorite,
- 25:26and I've made this case before,
- 25:28uh,
- 25:28that
- 25:29I don't think it's a race where Republicans should be putting money.
- 25:32Um,
- 25:33and that sucks because,
- 25:34uh,
- 25:34you know,
- 25:34I,
- 25:35North Carolina should be a winnable state for Republicans.
- 25:37I just think that Cooper is one of those guys who works really well in that state.
- 25:40He's well liked in that state,
- 25:41and I don't think
- 25:43Republicans are gonna be able to win there this time.
- 25:45So that's where I am.
- 25:46If I was putting the money around,
- 25:47that's what I would do.
- 25:48They have pulled some money out of there,
- 25:49it seems.
- 25:50This is what the Calci market looks like right now.
- 25:53This is the prediction markets for,
- 25:55um,
- 25:55Roy Cooper to win.
- 25:56He's currently at 95.1%. Now,
- 25:59I've been buying,
- 26:00if you go back to like April,
- 26:01uh,
- 26:01this is where I was kind of the areas I started buying Roy Cooper.
- 26:04He's in the mid-80s,
- 26:05low to mid-eighties here.
- 26:07He rises,
- 26:08uh,
- 26:08through April,
- 26:09uh,
- 26:09to the high 80s and kind of gets into that 88,
- 26:1289 area in July.
- 26:14And it's been rising into the low 90s and above through the summer
- 26:17and recently peaked at around 96%.
- 26:22I mean,
- 26:2296% is a little much,
- 26:23frank
- 26:24frankly for,
- 26:26uh,
- 26:26for Cooper.
- 26:27It's not a lot of value there.
- 26:28He might be a 96% favorite,
- 26:30but like,
- 26:32Uh,
- 26:32you know,
- 26:324%.
- 26:32You can find other markets with better odds.
- 26:34In fact,
- 26:34we're going to try to find one right now because
- 26:36this isn't just about Roy Cooper winning this race,
- 26:38which I do think he will.
- 26:39It's about the margin he wins by.
- 26:42If you have ever dealt with prediction markets,
- 26:44you probably know this,
- 26:44but if you're new to prediction markets,
- 26:46first of all,
- 26:47I'll just remind you,
- 26:47predictable 101.com,
- 26:49great resource,
- 26:49it's completely free for you to learn how to use prediction markets.
- 26:52Predictable101.com.
- 26:53But
- 26:54Uh,
- 26:54one of the things they have on these is not just who's gonna win,
- 26:57but who's gonna win and by how much,
- 26:58a margin market.
- 27:00And if you could look at that,
- 27:01usually the way Calci has these organized,
- 27:03it's a couple of different ways,
- 27:04but if you scroll below,
- 27:05go back up a little bit to show where you are here,
- 27:07Adam,
- 27:07cause this is,
- 27:08this is what we were just looking at a second ago.
- 27:09This is the main
- 27:10screen,
- 27:11right?
- 27:11You go to North Carolina Senate winner,
- 27:13you get Cooper,
- 27:13you get Watley.
- 27:15Scroll down below that,
- 27:16and they will give you the submarkets in many cases,
- 27:19it's not in every case.
- 27:20You kinda get,
- 27:20by the way,
- 27:20some information here.
- 27:22Um,
- 27:22you also get kind of a race intel section
- 27:24which gives you what the polling might look like,
- 27:26what the fundraising looks like,
- 27:27some basic stuff.
- 27:28And then under that you get a bunch of different,
- 27:30uh,
- 27:30uh,
- 27:30markets.
- 27:31Will Cooper outperform the polls?
- 27:32Uh,
- 27:33what,
- 27:33what,
- 27:33what vote will he get in certain counties?
- 27:35What vote percent will he get total?
- 27:37Voter turnout is another one that is down there.
- 27:40And then margin of victory,
- 27:41which is what we're gonna look at right now.
- 27:43Margin of victory,
- 27:44if you click on that,
- 27:45um,
- 27:45the way.
- 27:46It's different setup in,
- 27:47in different places,
- 27:49but if you see above,
- 27:51um,
- 27:51go up just a little bit here,
- 27:52um,
- 27:53right there,
- 27:54you see the number there with like a scroll.
- 27:56Right now,
- 27:56it's on Cooper 9+ points.
- 27:58So will Cooper win
- 28:00by 9 or more?
- 28:02He's at a 53% chance to do that.
- 28:04Um,
- 28:05so that is what the most recent price is.
- 28:08If you click on those numbers above though,
- 28:09lower it to 7 or 5,
- 28:12It will just adjust for you and give you that market.
- 28:14So will he win by 7 points?
- 28:16Now,
- 28:16let's,
- 28:16look at,
- 28:17will he win by 5 points.
- 28:18That's at 83%.
- 28:20Uh,
- 28:215 points,
- 28:21I think he will win by 5 points.
- 28:23I think he probably will win by 7 points.
- 28:25Both of those give much better,
- 28:26uh,
- 28:27profit percentage.
- 28:28Now,
- 28:28you are,
- 28:29it's,
- 28:29you know,
- 28:29it is,
- 28:29I hate to bring gambling references into this
- 28:31because that's what everyone says prediction markets are.
- 28:34Some of the,
- 28:34some of the organizational aspects of it are similar to that.
- 28:38In that like,
- 28:39OK,
- 28:39you're not looking at a margin.
- 28:40It's almost like a line in a football game,
- 28:41right?
- 28:42Like it's,
- 28:42you know,
- 28:43Philadelphia Eagles,
- 28:44they would need plus at this 0.5 points.
- 28:47This is,
- 28:47uh,
- 28:48here will
- 28:49Cooper,
- 28:50uh,
- 28:50win?
- 28:51Will he win by 5 points?
- 28:51Will he win by 7?
- 28:52Will he win by 9?
- 28:54The mar the markets there are pretty interesting.
- 28:56Um,
- 28:56a couple of things going on.
- 28:57Let me give you a couple of quick headlines from North Carolina.
- 28:59We might bring that,
- 29:00uh,
- 29:00that North Carolina market up one more time here at the end,
- 29:02Adam.
- 29:03Uh,
- 29:03North Carolina is shifting Democrat.
- 29:05Why is that happening?
- 29:06I mean,
- 29:06they,
- 29:07I will say their argument in here doesn't seem all that convincing.
- 29:09African-American voters have always existed in North
- 29:11Carolina and have always voted Democrat,
- 29:13uh,
- 29:13or at least for,
- 29:14not always,
- 29:14but for a very long time.
- 29:16Um,
- 29:17this is one quote that I kind of found funny.
- 29:19This is from,
- 29:20uh,
- 29:21who is it,
- 29:21uh,
- 29:21Chris Cooper.
- 29:23He says,
- 29:23uh,
- 29:24what's the,
- 29:25what is the,
- 29:26uh,
- 29:26why is,
- 29:26why is,
- 29:27uh,
- 29:27Roy Cooper,
- 29:28the governor
- 29:29and looking to be senator,
- 29:30so difficult to beat?
- 29:31He says,
- 29:31quote,
- 29:32his secret sauce in some ways
- 29:34is mayonnaise.
- 29:41I don't know.
- 29:42It's not,
- 29:42I don't know if I want that said about me.
- 29:44I do like some mayo though.
- 29:46I gotta say.
- 29:47He,
- 29:47his secret sauce in some ways is mayonnaise,
- 29:49right?
- 29:50He's been able to avoid scandal.
- 29:51He's rhetorically disciplined.
- 29:53You could spend all month looking for rhetorical gaffes from
- 29:55Roy Cooper and you're just not going to find any.
- 29:57So he's a careful politician.
- 29:59He doesn't make rhetorical mistakes.
- 30:01He's disciplined on the stump,
- 30:03and that all has amounted to a multi-decade
- 30:05career in North Carolina politics as a Democrat.
- 30:08That,
- 30:08what I just read to you,
- 30:09the definition.
- 30:11Of mayonnaise.
- 30:14Uh,
- 30:15Trump Cooper attack that probably his most vulnerable thing in this race,
- 30:18by the way,
- 30:18uh,
- 30:18Trump Cooper attack,
- 30:20uh,
- 30:21Tampa Free Press,
- 30:22uh,
- 30:22covering this,
- 30:23uh,
- 30:24he's targeting him on his crime record,
- 30:25which is not good.
- 30:27Uh,
- 30:27he released,
- 30:28uh,
- 30:28where did I put my,
- 30:29I put my phone.
- 30:30I had my phone.
- 30:31I had some notes on my phone I wanted to hit.
- 30:32Where did I put it?
- 30:33Oh,
- 30:33here it is.
- 30:34Sorry,
- 30:34it's underneath my desk.
- 30:35That's,
- 30:36that's how you do a professional broadcast,
- 30:37boys and girls.
- 30:37If you're going to broadcasting school,
- 30:38if you're looking for that.
- 30:40Uh,
- 30:40just,
- 30:40you know,
- 30:40just feel free to use that as an example.
- 30:42Um,
- 30:43so,
- 30:43uh,
- 30:46He released a bunch of criminals,
- 30:48particularly around COVID.
- 30:49There was that weird era where Democrats were like,
- 30:51hey,
- 30:51how can we help COVID?
- 30:52What if we released all the prisoners?
- 30:55Gavin Newsom was big into that one as well.
- 30:57I don't understand the philosophy all that much.
- 30:59I guess the idea was they would be passing it to each other in prison,
- 31:02but instead,
- 31:02we released them so they can murder us outside of prison.
- 31:05I don't know how that works exactly.
- 31:06Um,
- 31:07but,
- 31:07uh,
- 31:08just going through his,
- 31:08uh,
- 31:09election results,
- 31:09here we go.
- 31:10Um,
- 31:11he,
- 31:12let's see,
- 31:132016 barely won.
- 31:142020,
- 31:15he won as well.
- 31:16Smaller margins than the 5 and 7 we were just talking about.
- 31:19Um,
- 31:20but he,
- 31:20he typically would go,
- 31:21uh,
- 31:22you know,
- 31:23uh,
- 31:23he wins by a decent amount.
- 31:25Um,
- 31:25he's a little bit better
- 31:26than the Democratic presidential
- 31:28ticket in both of the elections,
- 31:30uh,
- 31:30that he was involved in.
- 31:31Um,
- 31:32uh,
- 31:33polling is interesting.
- 31:35He's leading,
- 31:36uh,
- 31:36by high single digits.
- 31:37Let me just give you a rundown of some of these polls.
- 31:39Trafalgar had Cooper up by 8.
- 31:41East Carolina had him up by 7.
- 31:43Big data poll had him up by 12.
- 31:46Q Qantas has been more of a Republican leader this cycle has him up by 5.
- 31:51Fabrizio,
- 31:5211 for Cooper,
- 31:53and Opinion Diagnostics has Cooper up by 8.
- 31:57Those are the most recent polls according to the,
- 31:59uh,
- 31:59New York Times.
- 32:01Uh,
- 32:01Anything else,
- 32:01he's got tons and tons of money,
- 32:03probably 6 or 7 times the money,
- 32:04which is interesting because,
- 32:05uh,
- 32:05Watley is a big RNC guy.
- 32:08He has access to money,
- 32:09but it's just tough in this particular climate.
- 32:12So that's kind of what we're looking at for that race.
- 32:14Give me back that,
- 32:14uh,
- 32:14that,
- 32:15that,
- 32:15uh,
- 32:16situation one more time.
- 32:17If you look at it and you think Cooper is gonna win,
- 32:18you can go with him to win and you can win,
- 32:20you know,
- 32:204 or 5% on your money.
- 32:22And there's nothing wrong with 4 or 5% on your money in 3 weeks.
- 32:25That's a really good return,
- 32:27boys and girls.
- 32:28I mean,
- 32:28I'm not smart enough off the top of my head,
- 32:30uh,
- 32:30to do that,
- 32:31uh,
- 32:31APR
- 32:32Rachel,
- 32:32but if you think of it's 4 weeks,
- 32:33it's about a month,
- 32:35you know,
- 32:35you figure about by,
- 32:36by,
- 32:37uh,
- 32:3713,
- 32:38so you're 5 times 13,
- 32:39you're at 65%,
- 32:40uh,
- 32:41APR.
- 32:41You're not getting that of your bank account.
- 32:43In fact,
- 32:43you're probably not getting 4% for the year on your bank account.
- 32:46You can get 4%
- 32:47in
- 32:47just 3 weeks if you believe Cooper is going to win this race.
- 32:51In addition to that though,
- 32:53you can get better at,
- 32:54like,
- 32:54the fact is,
- 32:55you know,
- 32:56give me Cooper plus 3 for a second on this,
- 32:58uh,
- 32:58real quick,
- 32:59Adam.
- 32:593 is at 94%,
- 33:01not much value there.
- 33:025 is I think where the value starts to kick in.
- 33:04At 5 points,
- 33:05him winning by 5%.
- 33:06Again,
- 33:06you're talking about,
- 33:07you know,
- 33:0751,
- 33:0746,
- 33:08something like that.
- 33:09Close race,
- 33:10closer than the polls typically show.
- 33:12You can get 17%
- 33:14on your 83 cents investment.
- 33:16That's,
- 33:17you know,
- 33:17you're getting up around 20%,
- 33:20right?
- 33:20Uh,
- 33:20you're,
- 33:20you're,
- 33:21you're right around 20%
- 33:22on your,
- 33:23uh,
- 33:23profit margin.
- 33:24And then,
- 33:24of course,
- 33:25you're doing that in 3 weeks,
- 33:26which means your APR is ridiculous with that rate.
- 33:29Uh,
- 33:29if you go up to 7%,
- 33:30you get a little bit risky.
- 33:31You can get 7,
- 33:32Cooper by 7 at 73%.
- 33:34So again,
- 33:35that's a 27 cents
- 33:36profit on every 73 cents you invest.
- 33:38And if you want to get a little frisky,
- 33:40you go up to 9%,
- 33:41which a lot of the polls,
- 33:42by the way,
- 33:42as I just pointed out,
- 33:43has him winning by 9%,
- 33:45um,
- 33:45or more.
- 33:46You can get that basically doubling your money
- 33:48in 3 weeks,
- 33:49and if you go up to 11,
- 33:50if you wanna get really frisky.
- 33:5234% chance for that to happen.
- 33:54Now,
- 33:54it's a big margin in North Carolina.
- 33:57Uh,
- 33:57but the polls consistently show him generally in
- 33:59striking distance with some people who are undecided.
- 34:02It's not crazy.
- 34:04And then you're getting,
- 34:04uh,
- 34:05you know,
- 34:0566 cent profit on your 34 cents investment.
- 34:09So that's where we are right now in that market.
- 34:11We're gonna take a quick break and come back with more in just a moment.
- 34:29Hedge your life.
- 34:30It's something that I do all the time.
- 34:31My friends make fun of me for it because I
- 34:34really do use prediction markets to hedge things in my life.
- 34:38Like if I'm gonna be disappointed personally in my life,
- 34:41I want to get paid
- 34:42for my pain.
- 34:44That is some,
- 34:44how I look,
- 34:45it's a big reason I use prediction markets,
- 34:47frankly.
- 34:48Um,
- 34:48you may have seen this over the weekend.
- 34:49Eagles and Commanders make poor decisions to cost them wins during the
- 34:52tough week for the NFC East.
- 34:54NFC Week East is a brutal,
- 34:56brutal place to be.
- 34:57It's like,
- 34:58uh,
- 34:58you know,
- 34:59uh,
- 35:01I mean,
- 35:01I was gonna give,
- 35:02I'm gonna give dark war references,
- 35:04but I won't do that.
- 35:04Um,
- 35:05bottom line is it's a catastrophe of a division.
- 35:08The Eagles have lost two games in a row that they were at 97% chance to win.
- 35:12I don't know if that's ever happened in the history of the NFL.
- 35:15Maybe it has.
- 35:16Uh,
- 35:16but both of them were crushing for me.
- 35:18Um,
- 35:19now,
- 35:19I've told you before,
- 35:20one way that I hedge my life here,
- 35:22because this is actually real for to me.
- 35:24Like I
- 35:25will,
- 35:25my mood is up and down,
- 35:27my enjoyment of life is up and down based on whether the Eagles win.
- 35:30You might think that's stupid.
- 35:31You might have something totally different.
- 35:32You might have an American Idol candidate.
- 35:34You're like,
- 35:34I gotta have that guy win.
- 35:35If he doesn't win,
- 35:36I'm gonna be so pissed off.
- 35:37Whatever your thing is,
- 35:38it could be a stock price,
- 35:39it could be the Bitcoin,
- 35:40it could be,
- 35:41uh,
- 35:42politics is a great way to do it.
- 35:43Um,
- 35:43you know,
- 35:44if you have a candidate that you're like,
- 35:45if your home state is like,
- 35:46like,
- 35:47you know,
- 35:47I could do this here.
- 35:48Uh,
- 35:48in Texas.
- 35:49If Tallarico wins,
- 35:50I'm gonna be very disappointed.
- 35:51If Hinojosa wins as governor of Texas,
- 35:53I'm gonna be really disappointed.
- 35:55Uh,
- 35:55I do.
- 35:55I think I did.
- 35:56No,
- 35:56I don't have it as a position.
- 35:58I would normally in a hedge your life position though,
- 36:00I would say,
- 36:01put money on Hinojosa.
- 36:03Because
- 36:03if,
- 36:04if,
- 36:04if she wins,
- 36:04it's gonna probably cost me money in taxes,
- 36:06but also,
- 36:07it's going to be something I'm not gonna be happy with.
- 36:09So I should get paid for that pain.
- 36:10The Philadelphia Eagles are the prime example of this.
- 36:12It's easiest to do in sports because there's wins,
- 36:14there's losses all the time.
- 36:16Um,
- 36:17and yesterday,
- 36:18the Eagles had a
- 36:19quote unquote,
- 36:20game-winning drive in which they kicked a field goal with 8 seconds left in the game,
- 36:23and you think to yourself,
- 36:24at that point,
- 36:25what are the,
- 36:26uh,
- 36:26of course,
- 36:27they've won the game.
- 36:27Now,
- 36:28I,
- 36:28being a long-suffering Eagles fan,
- 36:30recently things have been very good,
- 36:31but I went through many,
- 36:32many decades of them
- 36:34losing in the most inconceivable ways.
- 36:36Um,
- 36:37I,
- 36:38uh,
- 36:38took that opportunity to hedge my life.
- 36:41This is how I would use this,
- 36:42and it's how I did use it yesterday.
- 36:45And the way I think about it is,
- 36:46what,
- 36:47what amount am I willing to lose,
- 36:49uh,
- 36:50to pay for this victory?
- 36:52What
- 36:53dollar amount am I willing to lose for the Eagles to win this game?
- 36:56They should win,
- 36:57right?
- 36:58But what amount of money am I willing to just throw away
- 37:01to to buy this victory for myself,
- 37:04right?
- 37:05And
- 37:06it depends on how big you look at those things.
- 37:08Uh,
- 37:08my number last night with 8 seconds left in the game,
- 37:10I said to my son,
- 37:11first of all,
- 37:11this game is not over.
- 37:13I was getting texts from Eagles fans who were like,
- 37:14I can't believe they came back.
- 37:16They didn't come back yet.
- 37:16There's still 8 seconds left in this game.
- 37:18And of course,
- 37:19there's a good chance they will blow it some.
- 37:21What happened was,
- 37:22of course,
- 37:22they kicked the ball off.
- 37:24Instead of kicking it into the end zone,
- 37:26uh,
- 37:26they,
- 37:26uh,
- 37:27decided to,
- 37:27uh,
- 37:28you know,
- 37:28let them come.
- 37:29By the way,
- 37:29their mistakes were more previous than that.
- 37:31I didn't think that was the worst decision in the world,
- 37:33but the bottom line is the guy ran it all the way back to like the,
- 37:35the,
- 37:36the 40 yard line,
- 37:37and then,
- 37:37uh,
- 37:37Cam Little of the Jacksonville Jaguars hit a 57 yard
- 37:40field goal and the Eagles lost with 8 seconds left.
- 37:42Uh,
- 37:42he kicked it at the buzzer.
- 37:44Uh,
- 37:44that being said,
- 37:45uh,
- 37:45prediction markets had a great opportunity for me to hedge my life last night,
- 37:48which was,
- 37:49I could,
- 37:49it was 2 cents.
- 37:51That's where it was sat at,
- 37:512 cents on the markets.
- 37:54So I was able to buy,
- 37:54I,
- 37:55I was like,
- 37:55you know what,
- 37:5520 bucks.
- 37:56I'll throw 20 bucks at this.
- 37:57I don't care.
- 37:57If I lose the 20 bucks,
- 37:58great.
- 37:59I want the Eagles to win.
- 38:0020 bucks,
- 38:00bought 1000 shares,
- 38:02uh,
- 38:02of the Eagles to lose that game.
- 38:04And so I got a nice profit out of that.
- 38:07Now,
- 38:07I will say,
- 38:07did I feel better about it at the time?
- 38:09No.
- 38:10I didn't,
- 38:11because I care way more
- 38:13about the Eagles than winning $1000.
- 38:15I,
- 38:15I'll be honest with you,
- 38:16I don't,
- 38:17I,
- 38:17that did not soften my pain all that much at all,
- 38:20but
- 38:21I did get paid for that pain.
- 38:23And,
- 38:23you know,
- 38:23at a risk of 20 bucks,
- 38:25which,
- 38:25you know,
- 38:25again,
- 38:26uh,
- 38:2620 bucks is 20 bucks,
- 38:27but I was willing to lose it,
- 38:28uh,
- 38:29a very nice profit,
- 38:30uh,
- 38:30off of that particular thing.
- 38:32And
- 38:32at the same time,
- 38:33I got also paid on my 15,
- 38:35will the Eagles win 15 or more games,
- 38:37which by the way,
- 38:37I've been telling you for many,
- 38:39many weeks,
- 38:39the answer to that is absolutely freaking out.
- 38:42So that one paid out as well.
- 38:44As soon as they are
- 38:45mathematically incapable
- 38:47of winning,
- 38:48uh,
- 38:48that 15th game,
- 38:49uh,
- 38:49you get paid out on those markets as well.
- 38:51So I do like those
- 38:52as well.
- 38:52Uh,
- 38:53so that is how I hedge my life,
- 38:54in case you wanted an example of that.
- 38:55Politics is another great way,
- 38:57uh,
- 38:57to do it if you're,
- 38:58if you're interested.
- 39:00If you are a person who's like,
- 39:01you know what,
- 39:01maybe,
- 39:02uh,
- 39:02that's what I'll do with my Senate fantasy league.
- 39:03I will go on the SenateFantassy.com and I will,
- 39:06uh,
- 39:06click all Democrats,
- 39:08I think there's one you have to pick a Republican,
- 39:09but maybe I'll click all Democrats cause I like the,
- 39:11I like the Republicans or maybe the reverse is for you.
- 39:13Whatever it is,
- 39:14that's a nice way cause if all those people wind up winning,
- 39:17Maybe you'll win the Senate Fantasy League.
- 39:192500 bucks at stake for first prize.
- 39:21Uh,
- 39:22lots of prizes.
- 39:22Everyone in the top 100 wins something.
- 39:24Lots of really cool stuff there.
- 39:26We put together this little explainer video.
- 39:27If you missed my thing,
- 39:28uh,
- 39:29earlier.
- 39:29This is a quick,
- 39:30easy way
- 39:31to understand it,
- 39:31but get your teams in.
- 39:32This is gonna be lots of fun.
- 39:34Senate Fantasy.com.
- 40:30All right,
- 40:30predictable postmortem is here.
- 40:32We'd like to look at some positions we talked about on the show.
- 40:35How do they resolve?
- 40:36Uh,
- 40:36sometimes they don't,
- 40:38you know,
- 40:38resolve from weeks and weeks or months and months.
- 40:40And I wanna keep you updated on the positions that
- 40:42we talked about and the positions that we took.
- 40:45Trump media advisor Katie Zakaria.
- 40:48Named White House press secretary.
- 40:49Can't say I knew who,
- 40:50uh,
- 40:50Katie,
- 40:51uh,
- 40:51very well,
- 40:52uh,
- 40:52before this.
- 40:52We will all,
- 40:53I'm sure,
- 40:53get to know her
- 40:54in the coming months.
- 40:55Um,
- 40:56one of,
- 40:56one of our big plays here was to go no on Scott Jennings.
- 41:00Of course,
- 41:00he's the CNN commentator,
- 41:01not because I,
- 41:02I mean,
- 41:02I honestly think Jennings would be actually a very good.
- 41:05Uh,
- 41:05candidate for that job.
- 41:07Um,
- 41:07however,
- 41:08he's doing very well on his own.
- 41:09He's got his own kind of private thing going.
- 41:11He's making lots of money.
- 41:12He's got a high profile,
- 41:13he got his own show,
- 41:14uh,
- 41:14lots of,
- 41:15he's got a really good life and the life as a press secretary,
- 41:18especially for someone.
- 41:19I mean,
- 41:20you have to just be dedicated to it.
- 41:21Like it has to be the thing you've always wanted to do,
- 41:23to do it.
- 41:24Uh,
- 41:24if you are a person
- 41:25who's young and up and coming,
- 41:26like I guess Katie is,
- 41:27uh,
- 41:27that might be more of an attractive position,
- 41:29but I think life is misery in that freaking job,
- 41:31uh,
- 41:31to be honest with you,
- 41:32no matter what party or president is there.
- 41:34Um,
- 41:34so we had that,
- 41:35and let me show you that market,
- 41:36by the way.
- 41:36You can see here,
- 41:37there's some an investigation going on.
- 41:39Um,
- 41:39if you see that green light straight up,
- 41:41that's your girl,
- 41:42Katie.
- 41:42Uh,
- 41:43give me the last,
- 41:43uh,
- 41:44month or so here,
- 41:45Adam,
- 41:45if you could.
- 41:46Um,
- 41:46you see,
- 41:47really she was at 0%.
- 41:49I guess she was on there,
- 41:50but
- 41:50really no chance and just shot up to 100% as,
- 41:52you know,
- 41:53there's no real predictive,
- 41:54uh,
- 41:55uh,
- 41:55percentage on this one,
- 41:57per se.
- 41:58She was a long shot and she won.
- 41:59Um,
- 42:00so there is some investigation on some people who placed oddly timed,
- 42:03um.
- 42:05Uh,
- 42:05wagers on this,
- 42:06uh,
- 42:06if you will,
- 42:07last minute.
- 42:07I don't know if they knew.
- 42:08I don't know if it's a wager
- 42:09or an investment,
- 42:10if you know what the outcome is.
- 42:11Uh,
- 42:12again,
- 42:12they were very small.
- 42:13We're talking about like $1000 and they're investigating them,
- 42:15but,
- 42:16you know,
- 42:16I guess you,
- 42:17no matter what the title,
- 42:18you should not be insider trading.
- 42:19If you happen to be doing that,
- 42:20don't do it.
- 42:21But we said no on Jennings because it was the hype one.
- 42:23I liked going against the hype and I also like going against a guy who had a very cushy,
- 42:27nice lifestyle,
- 42:28not wanting to take a terrible job.
- 42:29So we won on that.
- 42:30If you held,
- 42:31held it,
- 42:31it got a little rough,
- 42:32a little bumpy there for a while,
- 42:34but we were excited to hold on to that.
- 42:35And another one,
- 42:36again,
- 42:36I,
- 42:36I want you to be,
- 42:37to be honest with you,
- 42:37I know nothing about the WNBA.
- 42:39I know,
- 42:39I know Caitlin Clark.
- 42:41I know Sophie Cunningham.
- 42:42I know a couple of people,
- 42:43uh,
- 42:43in the league.
- 42:44But I do know politics and I do know
- 42:47that league.
- 42:48And there was no freaking way.
- 42:49They're gonna give the face to the girl,
- 42:52um,
- 42:53boys can't play in girls sports movement in the
- 42:55WNBA whether she wants that title or not.
- 42:57I don't think she does.
- 42:58Uh,
- 42:58she,
- 42:58I mean,
- 42:59she believes it,
- 43:00but I don't think she's trying to be known for that per se.
- 43:02She's just been asked about it a bunch of times,
- 43:04but Sophie Cunningham was not going to get an award from this freaking league.
- 43:07Of all leagues in the world,
- 43:08they were not gonna give Sophie,
- 43:09I don't care if she averaged 80 points a game,
- 43:11they were not going to give her an award.
- 43:13So we said no on Sophie Cunningham
- 43:15for the 6th
- 43:16player of the Year,
- 43:17I believe is what they call it in the WNBA.
- 43:19And
- 43:19Valkyrie's Janelle Stallone.
- 43:22Uh,
- 43:22wound up winning.
- 43:23Uh,
- 43:24now,
- 43:24I don't even think that,
- 43:24honestly,
- 43:25Sophie Cunningham really should have been the award
- 43:27winner looking at the stats at least.
