- 0:01In recent years there has been a lot of focus on what is called
- 0:04the Law of Attraction. It has been mainly used to act
- 0:08as some kind of a wish fulfilling action that one
- 0:11undertakes by focusing on specific affirmations or
- 0:15visualizing results which then are attracted to your focus and
- 0:20create the result you are seeking.
- 0:23This is, however, a very limited application of a much more
- 0:27general action of the universal consciousness of Oneness.
- 0:32What we frequently fail to appreciate, however, is that
- 0:35this Law of Attraction operates mostly without our conscious
- 0:39intervention, through the vibratory patterns that we
- 0:42radiate out and the corresponding response we
- 0:46receive from the external creation.
- 0:50People frequently remark how they suddenly thought of someone
- 0:53they had not heard from in a long time, and then contact took
- 0:57place shortly thereafter. Or they find out that they had a
- 1:01dream about some relative dying and later determine that the
- 1:05individual died just at that time.
- 1:09We hear people speak about inexplicable synchronicity
- 1:13between what they were thinking about and what came into their
- 1:16presence. Of particular note is the role
- 1:20of a strong emotion, such as fear to bring the feared object
- 1:25or event upon one. For the spiritual seeker, this
- 1:29synchronicity or law of attraction works to highlight
- 1:33the higher aspiration that brings forth the aid and in many
- 1:37cases manifests the teacher at the time the student needs that
- 1:42help. Paramahamsa Yogananda describes
- 1:46in his Autobiography of a Yogi the spiritual aid and solace he
- 1:51received at various times of crisis as well as the appearance
- 1:56of his guru at the right stage to further his spiritual
- 2:00progress. This same function of attraction
- 2:03also brings the spiritual seeker very clear indications of needed
- 2:08progress by placing in front of him circumstances, events and
- 2:13situations that highlight the ongoing operation of the old
- 2:18external being and its reactions.
- 2:21This provides the seeker the opportunity, if he takes these
- 2:25things in the right spirit, to recognize the weakness and the
- 2:29limitation that he is called upon to address at that time to
- 2:33make the next stage of progress in his spiritual path.
- 2:38Srioro Bindo writes quote. What we have within us creates
- 2:43the circumstances outside us. When one does sadhna, it is
- 2:48constantly seen that so long as there is an important defect
- 2:52somewhere, circumstances so happen that the occasion comes
- 2:56for the defect to rise until it is thrown out of the being.
- 3:02If one can take the coming of these circumstances
- 3:05clairvoyantly as a call and an opportunity for conquering the
- 3:09defect, then one can progress very quickly.
- 3:16When the soul is meant to go forward and there is an external
- 3:20weakness, circumstances do come to help the external being
- 3:25against itself. There must be a truly sincere
- 3:29aspiration behind. Otherwise it does not happen.
- 3:35When someone is destined for the path, all circumstances, through
- 3:39all the deviations of mind and life, help in one way or another
- 3:44to lead him to it. It is his own psychic being
- 3:48within him and divine power above that used to that end.
- 3:54The vicissitudes both of mind and outward circumstance.
- 3:59End Quote. The Mother notes quote Always
- 4:05circumstances come to reveal the hidden weaknesses that have to
- 4:08be overcome. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindu
