- 0:04Hi, I'm Pete Smith on Compass Point.
- 0:06Today, let's look at how the sinful nature of a Christian can
- 0:09be subdued so that the fruit of the Spirit may grow and ripen.
- 0:13The answer, writes John Stott, lies in our attitude toward it.
- 0:16Galatians 524 and 16, those who belong to Christ Jesus, have
- 0:21crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
- 0:25Live by or in the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires
- 0:29of the sinful nature. We must take up an attitude of
- 0:32such fierce resistance and ruthless rejection toward the
- 0:35sinful nature that only the word crucifixion will do to describe
- 0:39it. But we must surrender the
- 0:41undisputed authority of our lives to the Spirit who lives
- 0:44within us. The more we make it a habit of
- 0:46saying no to the sinful nature and yes to the Spirit, the more
- 0:50the ugly works of the flesh will disappear and the fruit of the
- 0:53Spirit will flourish.
