- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for Back to the Basics in Healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic. We're here with Dr.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Harley.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, Dr. Harley.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, John.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Going to talk about T5 today. We're working our way
- 0:08Speaker 1: down the spine and T5 is kind of not quite
- 0:12Speaker 1: in the middle, but getting close. Right.
- 0:14Speaker 2: We're getting towards the kind of middle part of like
- 0:16Speaker 2: kind of the hump in your back. We're working our
- 0:18Speaker 2: way down the spine. So we are almost halfway through
- 0:21Speaker 2: the thoracic spine.
- 0:23Speaker 1: In the upper middle area here. And this is connected to,
- 0:26Speaker 1: of course, the T4 and the T6, but it also...
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's got a bunch of parts of your body that
- 0:31Speaker 1: it's kind of connected to, isn't it?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Right. We've talked about so far through the thoracic spine
- 0:37Speaker 2: how we're seeing more organ function as the nerves through
- 0:41Speaker 2: our thoracic spine go to different organs in our chest
- 0:44Speaker 2: and abdominal cavity. So last week we talked about gallbladder.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Now we're getting to the liver.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And the liver is kind of an important one. Right.
- 0:52Speaker 2: That's our big blood detoxing, filters the blood. Kind of
- 0:56Speaker 2: a really big, important organ. It's one of our bigger
- 0:59Speaker 2: organs in our body.
- 1:01Speaker 1: And what are some things that somebody might notice if
- 1:03Speaker 1: they're having an issue with T5?
- 1:06Speaker 2: They can have even like liver pain. So our liver
- 1:10Speaker 2: hangs out in the right side of like right underneath
- 1:12Speaker 2: our rib cage. So we can see just kind of
- 1:15Speaker 2: your right side, not your left.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Side, John. I'm feeling the wrong side. It's like your
- 1:21Speaker 1: right or my right? Apparently my right. Yeah.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So we can start seeing more kind of blood type conditions,
- 1:27Speaker 2: or we might see like iron deficiencies, anemias, circulation issues. Again,
- 1:33Speaker 2: that's all dealing with our blood flow and make sure
- 1:35Speaker 2: that our blood is being filtered and cleaned of different
- 1:39Speaker 2: byproducts that.
- 1:40Speaker 1: We need to get rid of. And circulation is kind
- 1:42Speaker 1: of a big deal. And that's one of those things,
- 1:44Speaker 1: if blood's not circulating properly, you can have all kinds
- 1:46Speaker 1: of other issues that come from that too, right?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you can start seeing more issues in our extremities,
- 1:51Speaker 2: like our hands and our feet. So, you know, colder hands.
- 1:54Speaker 2: We can see issues in our feet, especially with like
- 1:56Speaker 2: diabetic people having more issues there with like the pins
- 1:59Speaker 2: and needles, tingling, all that sort of not fun stuff.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Because there's that phrase, cold hands, warm heart. But you're like, no,
- 2:06Speaker 1: it's not warm heart. You have an issue with your T5.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So when it's cold, we do have that issue as
- 2:11Speaker 2: our body takes to pull all the extra blood flow
- 2:14Speaker 2: out of our extremities to keep our heart warm. So
- 2:16Speaker 2: I mean, that's a good thing in a way, but
- 2:18Speaker 2: not if you're having it all the time.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So if somebody is having some issues with that, and
- 2:22Speaker 1: this time of year, we might have cold feet or
- 2:25Speaker 1: cold hands for other reasons too, because it's just starting
- 2:27Speaker 1: to get cold out. But if that is something that
- 2:29Speaker 1: I notice a lot and I go, maybe I'm having
- 2:31Speaker 1: a circulation issue. When I come in and chat with
- 2:33Speaker 1: you about that, that's something that you can kind of
- 2:35Speaker 1: find out and maybe be able to help kind of
- 2:37Speaker 1: correct that.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It's definitely something that we can identify if it's a problem,
- 2:40Speaker 2: if you're noticing you're having it all the time, or
- 2:42Speaker 2: if it's just off and on, or maybe you do
- 2:46Speaker 2: have a family history of liver issues, you know, adjusting
- 2:49Speaker 2: this by making sure that the nervous system is functioning
- 2:51Speaker 2: to its best ability is going to help a lot.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I think we've talked about this before that, you know,
- 2:58Speaker 2: genetics kind of load the gun, but our environmental stressors
- 3:01Speaker 2: pull the trigger. So even if you're, you know, Having
- 3:04Speaker 2: a family history of things doesn't mean that you have
- 3:06Speaker 2: to have a full-blown disease of it. Being preventative and
- 3:11Speaker 2: maintaining your health can help avoid a lot of those issues.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Very nice. So somebody listening is going, hey, you got
- 3:16Speaker 1: my attention. I'm interested in learning more about this because
- 3:18Speaker 1: I have this little thing or that little thing. What
- 3:20Speaker 1: is the best way for them to connect with you
- 3:22Speaker 1: here at Balanced Life Chiropractic?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Simple as getting us on the phone.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Give us a call.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Our phone number is 605-215-1785. Or you can reach out
- 3:30Speaker 2: to us on our Facebook page at Balanced Life Chiropractic.
- 3:33Speaker 2: We even have a book online option on our website.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Very nice. That's a great option if you're afraid to
- 3:37Speaker 1: talk to people. You're like, I don't want to call
- 3:39Speaker 1: and talk on the phone. Just click on the website,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and you'll probably still eventually talk to her when you
- 3:44Speaker 1: come in. Although if you say, I don't want to
- 3:45Speaker 1: talk to you, just come in and fix me. Have
- 3:47Speaker 1: you ever had that where I don't want to talk
- 3:48Speaker 1: to you? Maybe not quite that much.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I have not. We really focus on communicating with our
- 3:53Speaker 2: patients and learning more about you. So we kind of
- 3:56Speaker 2: need to talk to you to find more about you.
- 3:57Speaker 1: But she makes it easy. So if you're afraid to
- 3:59Speaker 1: talk to people, maybe you don't call. Maybe you go
- 4:01Speaker 1: to the website. But when you get here, have a
- 4:03Speaker 1: nice chat because she wants to help. And you can
- 4:05Speaker 1: go to the website. You can book right on there.
- 4:07Speaker 1: The website, once again, very simple, very easy. BalancedLifeSD.com.
