Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This med podcast. Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only
- 0:12Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer
- 0:16Speaker 1: new Arth, and today we're joined by Stephen Rinella, Jannis Poutellis,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Brodie Henderson, Ryan Callahan, Maggie Hudlow, Krinn Schneider, Randall Williams,
- 0:24Speaker 1: and Megan Baker. Megan, this is your first time on
- 0:26Speaker 1: the show. Gonna make a correct oh in the show? Now?
- 0:31Speaker 1: It was Baker, I just got married. Okay did you
- 0:34Speaker 1: get married between like? Uh? Now? And when Corin set
- 0:38Speaker 1: you up as a guest. I know I got married
- 0:41Speaker 1: back in May m and and so what what would
- 0:43Speaker 1: be the correct way? Megan? Megan Denin And we're joined
- 0:47Speaker 1: by Megan Denen. Megan, this is your first time on
- 0:50Speaker 1: the show. How do you think you're gonna do at
- 0:52Speaker 1: Meat Eater Trivia? I've been playing this every week since
- 0:56Speaker 1: you guys brought it out, and I am petrified. Okay
- 0:59Speaker 1: this and like you play against other folks, right? Yeah?
- 1:03Speaker 1: Me and my husband play it. How's that normally go
- 1:06Speaker 1: car rides and we pause it a lot and really
- 1:09Speaker 1: think about things. So actually having to be real time,
- 1:11Speaker 1: it's gonna be a little difficult. Who's better though, between
- 1:14Speaker 1: the two of you. It goes back and forth depending
- 1:16Speaker 1: on what the topic is. What what would be like
- 1:19Speaker 1: your strength versus his? You think my strength are usually
- 1:22Speaker 1: animal species and region stuff. He definitely understands more like
- 1:26Speaker 1: hunting and firearms better. Okay, I have to admit it
- 1:29Speaker 1: was tough to write a question that would be throwing
- 1:31Speaker 1: a bone to an airport biologist. I was gonna ask
- 1:35Speaker 1: you about those, Yeah, we have a bone, what do
- 1:38Speaker 1: you know? Where are you gonna ask an airport No.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I went and I found your bio from and it
- 1:49Speaker 1: said what you studied in college? So I tried to
- 1:51Speaker 1: find something that would appeal to that. Now, if you're
- 1:55Speaker 1: not familiar, this is a ten round quiz show with
- 1:57Speaker 1: questions from me theaters, four articles which are hunting, fishing,
- 2:01Speaker 1: conservation and cooking, and there's a prize. Meat Eater will
- 2:04Speaker 1: donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the
- 2:08Speaker 1: winners choosing and each week here at meat Eator Trivia,
- 2:10Speaker 1: we reveal a new stat. Earlier this week, Lebron James
- 2:13Speaker 1: broke Kareem Abdul Jabbar's record for most points in NBA history.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So today, we're looking at who scored the most points
- 2:21Speaker 1: in Meat Eater trivia history. At the top of the
- 2:24Speaker 1: leaderboard is Steve with one hundred seventy nine correct answers.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That's followed by Brody with one hundred sixty five points,
- 2:32Speaker 1: Janis with one hundred forty one points, Cal with ninety
- 2:35Speaker 1: one points, Set with seventy nine points, and Krinn with
- 2:40Speaker 1: sixty nine points. Nice, what really sixty nine points? I'm
- 2:45Speaker 1: shocked at we were going to bring that up? Ye exactly?
- 2:50Speaker 1: Are you calling the ten she got when you told
- 2:52Speaker 1: her the answers? She didn't get it perfect game that game,
- 2:56Speaker 1: but I think that does count. If you took those away,
- 2:59Speaker 1: she'd probably like sixty was the biggest mistake of your career.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Go on, it's thrown off every stat Yep, mess this
- 3:09Speaker 1: stuff up. Did you guys call each other about your
- 3:11Speaker 1: sweatshirts this morning? We did not, No, we didn't. But
- 3:15Speaker 1: I mean, let's be fair here. I mean, you recount
- 3:19Speaker 1: the stats of this game at the drop of a hat.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It's got nothing to do with cream abdul jubar, all right,
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's constantly Let's reinvent another way to look at the leaderboard.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You're exactly right now, Steve. You weren't here when we
- 3:36Speaker 1: introduced a segment that we're going to use every now
- 3:38Speaker 1: and then, but we're going to call it our zero
- 3:40Speaker 1: percent or question of the week. And this is a
- 3:42Speaker 1: question that we had on a previous game where nobody
- 3:45Speaker 1: got the correct answer. So this week we are going
- 3:48Speaker 1: back to episode three thirteen for a question that nobody
- 3:51Speaker 1: in the room got right here. It is when archery
- 3:54Speaker 1: companies advertise Ibo speed. What does the IBO stand for?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I got it? What is it? You got to say it? Yeah?
- 4:05Speaker 1: Wasn't it? U? I can't remember. Does anybody have a game?
- 4:10Speaker 1: It was like International Bow Organization or something. So the
- 4:13Speaker 1: answer you gave during that game was International Bow Organization.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But that's wrong, exactly. The correct answer was International Bow
- 4:20Speaker 1: Hunters Organization. Uh. The incorrect answers we had given were
- 4:25Speaker 1: International Bow Org and Initial Bow Operation. So nobody retained
- 4:29Speaker 1: that information episode. I'm ashamed though that I don't know
- 4:33Speaker 1: it no, but I think it's worth noting that I,
- 4:37Speaker 1: even though I've gotten older, I still think the exact
- 4:40Speaker 1: same way. Yeah, a whole year older. Do we have
- 4:43Speaker 1: some housekeeping to get to? On last week's episode, of trivia.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I gave examples of questions that were written by AI technology.
- 4:50Speaker 1: As we learned creating trivia questions about hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and cooking is not a strong suit for robots, but
- 4:58Speaker 1: I did find a good use of the power of
- 5:00Speaker 1: AI technology. I asked chat gpt to write me a
- 5:05Speaker 1: twenty line poem about Stephen Ronnella, and this is what
- 5:08Speaker 1: it came up with. Oh Wownes, Brace yourself. In the
- 5:15Speaker 1: wilds of America's vast lands, there's a hunter with a
- 5:18Speaker 1: passion for hands on demands. With a bow or a rifle,
- 5:22Speaker 1: he tracks his prey and brings back the bounty in
- 5:25Speaker 1: his own unique way. Stephen Ronnella a man of the
- 5:28Speaker 1: woods with a love for the hunt that never quite
- 5:30Speaker 1: stood still. He roams through the mountains and streams, sharing
- 5:34Speaker 1: his stories and his wild meat dreams. He's a teacher,
- 5:38Speaker 1: a mentor, and a guide showing the way to a
- 5:41Speaker 1: more sustainable side. He tells of the beauty that can
- 5:44Speaker 1: be found in the creatures we hunt, in the food
- 5:47Speaker 1: that surrounds, from the deserts to the forest. He lives
- 5:52Speaker 1: for the land and the creatures he's known. He harvests
- 5:55Speaker 1: the wild with respect and with care, and shares his
- 5:58Speaker 1: knowledge with all who would dare. So here's to Stephen Rinella,
- 6:02Speaker 1: a Hunter of Note, a man who helps us better
- 6:05Speaker 1: understand the remote. His love for the land and his
- 6:08Speaker 1: passion for the chase will continue to and guide in
- 6:13Speaker 1: this wild, wild place. It sounds like twice the night
- 6:20Speaker 1: before Christmas. It's got that same old Bob's creation. Sam
- 6:27Speaker 1: mcgheel also, I think we should put a Hunter of
- 6:29Speaker 1: Note on your tombstone. Yeah, my favorite you know, earlier
- 6:34Speaker 1: I was saying the worst thing you ever did in
- 6:35Speaker 1: your career, that that's the worst thing. My favorite line though,
- 6:40Speaker 1: was sharing his stories and his wild meat dreams. Now,
- 6:47Speaker 1: the Shelby index for this game is a three, so
- 6:50Speaker 1: our winner should get about six correct answers. With that,
- 6:53Speaker 1: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand and everything? How's
- 7:02Speaker 1: it just tend to win everything us? Question one the
- 7:15Speaker 1: topic is cooking. Which of these recipes did not make
- 7:21Speaker 1: Vice's list of the greatest Stoner foods of All time?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Is it pizza Nacho's, Sloppy Joe Pizza, Pizza French toast,
- 7:30Speaker 1: or pizza bagels. Which of these recipes did not make
- 7:35Speaker 1: Vice's list of the greatest stoner foods of all time?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Pizza nachos, Sloppy Joe, Pizza, Pizza French toast, or pizza bagels.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I would imagine nobody knows this one. Just going to
- 7:49Speaker 1: be taking an educated guess. There's absolutely no way that
- 7:53Speaker 1: this fits. It said, Yeah, this is so stupid. Don't
- 7:58Speaker 1: you think about how stupid it was? So yeah, brought
- 8:00Speaker 1: it up. You're gonna have to keep, you know, adding
- 8:03Speaker 1: on to the dumbest thing I've ever done, indulging in
- 8:08Speaker 1: shacky tobaccy. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 8:12Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Steve saying pizza sang pizza
- 8:18Speaker 1: French toast, Megan saying sloppy Joe pizza, Randall sang sloppy
- 8:22Speaker 1: Joe pizza, Brody sang pizza French toast. Cals that wasn't
- 8:26Speaker 1: pizza French toast, Karen saying pizza French toast, Jana saying
- 8:30Speaker 1: pizza French toast. The correct answer is sloppy Joe, pizza.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Megan and Randall got it right. Pizza Nacho's, Pizza French
- 8:40Speaker 1: toast and pizza bagels were all on Vice's list. Sloppy
- 8:43Speaker 1: Joe Pizza is actually from our website. If you want
- 8:46Speaker 1: to learn how to make it, then go to the
- 8:48Speaker 1: media dot com and check out Dan Venison Sloppy Joe Pizza.
- 8:54Speaker 1: That best thing you ever did? Brought it around at
- 8:58Speaker 1: the end, question too. Question topic is mountain men. This
- 9:02Speaker 1: next great question comes to is via Clayton Stewart. If
- 9:05Speaker 1: you have a question you think is right for Mediator Trivia,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you can send it to trivia to mediator dot com.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Three states hosted an official mountain man rendezvous between eighteen
- 9:15Speaker 1: twenty five and eighteen forty. Name one of those states.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Three states hosted an official mountain man rendezvous between eighteen
- 9:26Speaker 1: twenty five in eighteen forty Name one of those states. Steve,
- 9:31Speaker 1: could you get all three if you had to? Rest
- 9:36Speaker 1: of the room looks just as confident as Steve does.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Everybody have an answer? Don't do it? God? Can you
- 9:44Speaker 1: get credit? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 9:48Speaker 1: Steve saying Wyoming, Maggie sang Wyoming, Meghan sang Alaska, Randall
- 9:53Speaker 1: and Brodie and Cal saying Wyoming, Corin saying Colorado. Jannis
- 9:58Speaker 1: saying Wyoming the three dates or Wyoming, Utah and Idaho.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I would have got them all three. Wyoming hosted the
- 10:06Speaker 1: event eleven times, while Utah hosted it four times and
- 10:10Speaker 1: Idaho hosted it twice. But you gotta keep in mind
- 10:13Speaker 1: those states weren't states. Sure you're acting like their hosting Olympics,
- 10:18Speaker 1: all right? Colorado, Colorado had a rendezvous. I mean maybe
- 10:22Speaker 1: the Rivers had a different mine named than too. I
- 10:24Speaker 1: would say, it's uh still right. The eighteen twenty nine
- 10:28Speaker 1: rendezvous was actually split between Wyoming and Idaho. The gathering
- 10:31Speaker 1: came to an end after eighteen forty due to decreased
- 10:34Speaker 1: beaver populations, shrinking markets, and declining prices. Hosted a rendezvous
- 10:40Speaker 1: prior to that, so I thought Kick Carson like wandered
- 10:45Speaker 1: through the old rendezvous site. Well, Kick Carson was hanging
- 10:50Speaker 1: out all over up here. You know what, I would
- 10:53Speaker 1: have said, what's that? And what is now? These states?
- 10:59Speaker 1: Do you get Spenser because they're not stay it's at
- 11:01Speaker 1: the time. Question three the topic is conservation. What auto
- 11:08Speaker 1: brand came under fire from conservation groups after a twenty
- 11:12Speaker 1: eighteen Super Bowl commercial showed its vehicle driving through a lake.
- 11:18Speaker 1: What auto brand came under fire from conservation groups after
- 11:23Speaker 1: a twenty eighteen Super Bowl commercial showed its vehicle driving
- 11:28Speaker 1: through a lake. Steve with a quick answer, Yeah, but
- 11:32Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. Okay, I currently have
- 11:34Speaker 1: a beef for similar reasons with an automaker right now.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Tell us about it. They are advertising driving through the
- 11:42Speaker 1: wilderness with the new It's just like, do you think
- 11:48Speaker 1: it's the same offender as the answer to this question?
- 11:50Speaker 1: I can't say that. Okay, God, you know how this
- 11:53Speaker 1: room comes apart. God, does everybody have an answer for
- 11:59Speaker 1: what the auto brand is? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 12:03Speaker 1: We have Steve saying Jeep. Meggie sang Toyota, Megan saying Jeep,
- 12:08Speaker 1: Randall sang Jeep, Brodie sang Nissan, cal saying Toyota, con
- 12:16Speaker 1: saying Jeep. The correct answer is Jeepe. The Super Bowl
- 12:24Speaker 1: ad was made to promote the twenty eighteen Jeep Wrangler.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Two days after the game, Trout Unlimited's president sent a
- 12:31Speaker 1: letter to Chrysler saying this quote the commercial that aired
- 12:36Speaker 1: on Sunday might appeal to some, but to sportsmen and women,
- 12:39Speaker 1: it was wrong headed. At our farm in West Virginia.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We will occasionally drive across a designated ford, a hardened
- 12:46Speaker 1: crossing meant to pass vehicles over a creek. But your
- 12:49Speaker 1: ad showed someone driving a Jeep straight up a stream
- 12:52Speaker 1: bed as if it were an acceptable practice. Jeep never
- 12:56Speaker 1: pulled the ad, but they did defend the commercial by
- 12:58Speaker 1: saying it was a man made lake in a man
- 13:00Speaker 1: made waterfall. Kaw, what's your issue with Toyota? I was
- 13:07Speaker 1: one hundred percent sure it was Toyota. I'm not that
- 13:10Speaker 1: I watched the Super Bowl, but I thought it was
- 13:13Speaker 1: so that. I have a huge issue with my current Toyota,
- 13:17Speaker 1: which sucks gas like it's like I can't drive past
- 13:22Speaker 1: a gas station gas. It's like it runs on gas
- 13:27Speaker 1: and sucks the gas out of other vehicles like it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: it's brutal. You just falling apart on me. Question for
- 13:34Speaker 1: the topic is biology. What animal does an ich theologist study?
- 13:43Speaker 1: What animal does an ich theologist study? Ich theologist? I
- 13:49Speaker 1: can spell that for you. I see th h y oologist. Steve,
- 13:55Speaker 1: you made a groan? Was it like a good? I
- 13:57Speaker 1: got this? I knew it, but now I don't know
- 14:01Speaker 1: if I knew it. Okay, Brody, you got this one.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I'm not saying, I want, what's your homunculus talking to
- 14:11Speaker 1: you about? It's not it doesn't know. There's a lot
- 14:16Speaker 1: of it's a current and like a different part of
- 14:19Speaker 1: my mind. And I was like, I was like, oh,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but then I'm like, am I wrong? Yes, you're wrong?
- 14:24Speaker 1: You know what? I don't know if we talked about
- 14:26Speaker 1: it enough when you had a divine intervention, give you
- 14:29Speaker 1: an answer, But it was a wrong answer, wasn't it
- 14:36Speaker 1: was great? So you can't even trust him anymore? Does
- 14:39Speaker 1: everybody have an answer for what an ichthyologist good? Be honest? Sure,
- 14:47Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying fish,
- 14:50Speaker 1: Maggie sang turkey, Megan sang muscles, Randall sang fish, Brodie
- 14:55Speaker 1: sang fish, Cant saying insects, Corin saying lice, Jannis saying lizards.
- 15:04Speaker 1: The correct answer is fish. Man of ye, a lot
- 15:11Speaker 1: of talent room. Did you get that? Bill? Fish got it?
- 15:16Speaker 1: Very embarrassing. There are twenty seven thousand species of fish,
- 15:20Speaker 1: making them the most diverse group of vertebrates on the planet.
- 15:24Speaker 1: According to Professor Michael Barton, the first ichthyologists were actually
- 15:28Speaker 1: hunters and gatherers because they had to learn how to
- 15:31Speaker 1: obtain fish in abundance and at what times they were
- 15:33Speaker 1: most availed. So you're saying no degree you needed. That's right.
- 15:36Speaker 1: That's great now, Megan, that was the one I was
- 15:38Speaker 1: throwing to you. Because you studied biology and ecology in college.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I thought that would be a gimme. So required to
- 15:45Speaker 1: take four oology classes and I skipped out on fish biology.
- 15:48Speaker 1: What were the four you took? Then? Ornithology, herpetology, and mammology.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So birds, what was the next one? Toads, tugs? Right, yeah, birds,
- 15:56Speaker 1: reptiles and mammals. Question five, the topic is public lands.
- 16:02Speaker 1: This is our Peak Refuel question of the week, which
- 16:04Speaker 1: was won by Mike Vance for sending this great question.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Mike is going to get a week's worth of peak
- 16:10Speaker 1: refuel meals and a book signed by Steve. What National
- 16:15Speaker 1: Park leads the country in fatal bear attacks? This is
- 16:20Speaker 1: going back to the year nineteen hundred? What National park
- 16:24Speaker 1: leads the country in fatal bear attacks? Going back to
- 16:29Speaker 1: what year nineteen hundred? Megan with the quickest answer. The
- 16:33Speaker 1: rest of the room staring at the ceiling trying to
- 16:37Speaker 1: envision a map, see where all the bear attacks are happening,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and you're saying just bear attacks, fatal bear attacks? What
- 16:45Speaker 1: National Park leads the country in fatal bear attacks? Most
- 16:51Speaker 1: of the rooms yet to come up with an answer, Randall,
- 16:54Speaker 1: how you feel about this one? I've narrowed it down
- 16:57Speaker 1: to four or five, so I've got to be honest
- 17:02Speaker 1: with the blank board. Megan's change your ants for multiple
- 17:05Speaker 1: times now he's got I think that's the Latvian smirk?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Is that like him not knowing that? Oh? I mean
- 17:12Speaker 1: I can see his board again? What National Park leads
- 17:19Speaker 1: the country in fatal bear attacks? Yeah? I think I
- 17:24Speaker 1: got it. Okay, Well, I'm gonna leave here. You can
- 17:30Speaker 1: cross it out when you do when you read it,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I don't. I wouldn't mind if you just read the
- 17:36Speaker 1: one I crossed out. We can do that, be honest.
- 17:39Speaker 1: How were doing? I got an answer? Is everybody ready? Brody?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Oh man, Brody's waffling over there. I'm trying to figure
- 17:50Speaker 1: out if you're messing with us or not. It's a
- 17:52Speaker 1: lot easier to pick when you haven't got any of
- 17:54Speaker 1: the rest of him. Rain been ready to roll for
- 17:58Speaker 1: a while, Brody, Come on, Brody, all right, hold on
- 18:07Speaker 1: this is a senior moment. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Remember what Remember Steve that crashed out, Cat May and
- 18:17Speaker 1: cat My, cat My, Glacier National Park, Maggie saying Glacier,
- 18:23Speaker 1: Megan saying Donald saying Glacier, Man, Brody saying Glacier, cal
- 18:30Speaker 1: saying Catman Brody crossed out Shannandoah. Dude, he said bear,
- 18:34Speaker 1: not grizzly bears. I'm gonna go ahead and say it
- 18:36Speaker 1: right now. I think we're all wrong. I don't think
- 18:38Speaker 1: we have a right and saying saying Glacier this we
- 18:43Speaker 1: do have a correct answer in the room. It's Glacier
- 18:46Speaker 1: National Park. She's right here in Montana. And that that
- 18:50Speaker 1: that Denali ship was good? Though, Man, do you that
- 18:53Speaker 1: little factory to go with that? Since the year nineteen hundred,
- 18:56Speaker 1: there have been twelve fatal bear attacks in Glacier National Park.
- 19:01Speaker 1: That's followed by Yellowstone with eight didnally and Glacier Bay
- 19:05Speaker 1: and cat My? Now, how how am I supposed to
- 19:08Speaker 1: say that? Because I I looked it up online and
- 19:10Speaker 1: I saw cat May. But it's cat My. You're you're
- 19:14Speaker 1: like the closest I've never heard it pronounced cat You
- 19:16Speaker 1: saw you saw online, said cat m a hy. I
- 19:20Speaker 1: listened to some pronunciations, but you're the closest thing we
- 19:22Speaker 1: have doing affronciation, so we'll go with We'll go with
- 19:25Speaker 1: your version. You cha GIFP pronunciation, although each and I
- 19:31Speaker 1: walk you through my my thinking. Let me finish this.
- 19:33Speaker 1: The last fatal happened on May seventeen, nineteen ninety eight.
- 19:39Speaker 1: The twenty six year old victim was a solo hiker
- 19:41Speaker 1: who was attacked by a mother grizzly that was with
- 19:44Speaker 1: two cubs. Steve, how did you get that one right?
- 19:46Speaker 1: Because there's that famous occurrence that was written about in
- 19:50Speaker 1: the book. I think it was Jet was it Jack?
- 19:53Speaker 1: Was uh? The same guy that wrote the Give a
- 19:55Speaker 1: Boy a Gun? I think about I don't know, but
- 19:58Speaker 1: it was like a man the grizzlies, well they had
- 20:01Speaker 1: there was when one night, just a freak currency one night,
- 20:05Speaker 1: different ends of the park, two women got killed one
- 20:08Speaker 1: night by grizzlies, totally different grizzlies, different parts of the park.
- 20:11Speaker 1: And it was what set in two right there, that
- 20:14Speaker 1: that incident is what set in motion the idea that
- 20:17Speaker 1: menstruating women are more likely to be attacked by bears.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You know, Phil we're halfway through the game of trivia.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Give us a scoreboard update with zero points, and in
- 20:25Speaker 1: last place is Crin Schneider. She's fifth on the leaderboard,
- 20:30Speaker 1: though for most points that's true. I worked on the
- 20:33Speaker 1: edge Glacier National Park for a lot of years, and
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'll tell you one thing that does not get talked
- 20:38Speaker 1: about is anything bad happening to anybody inside Glacier National
- 20:43Speaker 1: Park doesn't doesn't dive well with the marketing. And with
- 20:47Speaker 1: one point we have Ryan Callahan with two points apiece
- 20:52Speaker 1: are Meghan and Maggie, Janis and Brody have three, Steve
- 20:57Speaker 1: has four and a perfect game Randall in first place. Yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 1: rand oh, randle Man just coming in like a roll.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Although to be fair, he did get that uh stoner
- 21:11Speaker 1: question right, well, yeah, one of them. Right. Answer about
- 21:14Speaker 1: that stoner question is he looked visibly perturbed, like he
- 21:17Speaker 1: picked the wrong one, and then when the answer got
- 21:19Speaker 1: read out, he kind of straightened up. He's like, that
- 21:24Speaker 1: was a great question. Did you look into black bear
- 21:28Speaker 1: fatal attacks in state parks by a chance? No, because
- 21:31Speaker 1: this was National Park? No, I know, but I just
- 21:33Speaker 1: thought maybe you would have dug around a little bit
- 21:35Speaker 1: farther because how about comedy parts? Did you look at
- 21:38Speaker 1: that municipality for the park? I would like to bring
- 21:44Speaker 1: the stoner question back up. What do you man who
- 21:47Speaker 1: eats French toast pizza? And what is it? Is it
- 21:50Speaker 1: covered in syrup? Is it savory? You're gonna have to
- 21:52Speaker 1: take it up with advice sounds so often? Maybe coming
- 21:55Speaker 1: to our website soon. No, I won't allow it. Are
- 21:58Speaker 1: you big stoner? Randle? You find bit? Yeah? What are
- 22:05Speaker 1: your guard rails? He's a little stoner, like you know,
- 22:11Speaker 1: Randall's a little stoner. And it said Randall's a big stoner.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I think it was the same amount of stoner. That's
- 22:19Speaker 1: a good point. Question six, the topic is hunting. Name
- 22:33Speaker 1: three of the four animals with the most entries in
- 22:37Speaker 1: the Booning Crockett record book. Back to say that again,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Name three of the four animals with the most entries
- 22:46Speaker 1: in the Booning Crockett record Book. You need to name
- 22:50Speaker 1: three of the four. Brody, We've learned on previous games
- 22:54Speaker 1: that your strongest suit is hunting. How do you think
- 22:56Speaker 1: you're gonna do on this one? I think I got
- 23:01Speaker 1: one right so far. Okay, name three of the four.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But you said deer is not an acceptable answer. I
- 23:09Speaker 1: never said anything. Okay, Randall, is this going to keep
- 23:13Speaker 1: the perfect game going? I have no idea. Okay, only
- 23:17Speaker 1: write down three answers. If you do four, you get
- 23:19Speaker 1: it wrong. Steve, you're gonna get this one right. Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I'm feeling good about it. That's more interested in what
- 23:25Speaker 1: Randall's got going on? Three of the four animals. Does
- 23:29Speaker 1: everybody have an answer? Yannie's still writing about Karan gets
- 23:35Speaker 1: it wrong. I'mn'm going for zero. Does everybody she's going
- 23:48Speaker 1: for the imperfect game? Does everybody? Maggie's racing Maggie, how
- 23:52Speaker 1: are you doing? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 23:57Speaker 1: have Steve saying white tail, elk, black bear. Maggie sang whitetail,
- 24:02Speaker 1: big horn, black bear. Megan sang whitetail, elk, mule deer,
- 24:07Speaker 1: Randall sang whitetail, mule deer, rocky mountain, elk, Brodie saying whitetail,
- 24:13Speaker 1: black bear, elk, Cal saying whitetail, mule deer. What's that
- 24:18Speaker 1: last one? Black bear? Krinn saying whitetail, black bear, elk,
- 24:23Speaker 1: Jannis saying whitetail, elk mule deer. The four animals are whitetail,
- 24:30Speaker 1: black bear, mule deer, and pronghorn. I don't know if
- 24:35Speaker 1: anybody got it right. Now, Cal got it right. Everyone
- 24:38Speaker 1: else had elk in there said yeah. Then the minute
- 24:41Speaker 1: he said, someone said Rocky Mountain elk, I'm like, I
- 24:43Speaker 1: got that wrong, because it won't be that way. They
- 24:46Speaker 1: divided up into all the damn different elk. There are
- 24:48Speaker 1: eighteen thousand, two hundred eighteen whitetail deer entered in the
- 24:51Speaker 1: Boone and Crockett record book. That's followed by four thousand,
- 24:55Speaker 1: six hundred seven black bear, four thousand, two hundred sixty
- 24:59Speaker 1: six mule deer, and four thousand, two hundred forty one pronghorn.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Even if you add all three subspecies of elk together,
- 25:06Speaker 1: there are only two thousand, seven hundred thirty two. And
- 25:09Speaker 1: God thinks everything Spencer does it is shoucking. I mean,
- 25:12Speaker 1: eighteen thousand whitetail seems like not that many. For help, Yeah,
- 25:18Speaker 1: gonna be a popular answer there. I mean a lot
- 25:22Speaker 1: of stuff he does that Spencer does is stupid. But
- 25:26Speaker 1: that little tidbit now, and then that little tidbit where
- 25:29Speaker 1: he knew that people were gonna write elk, but it wouldn't.
- 25:33Speaker 1: He's like, people are gonna write out but it doesn't
- 25:35Speaker 1: count because it's gonna be like Rocky Mountain two, Lee Roosevelt.
- 25:39Speaker 1: And then and then he thought about that, and then
- 25:41Speaker 1: he thought to make a little factoid that's right, that
- 25:45Speaker 1: helps satisfy that question. Question seven, very good topic is cooking.
- 25:52Speaker 1: This next great question comes to his via Meggie Shrek.
- 25:55Speaker 1: If you have a question you think is right from
- 25:57Speaker 1: Meata to trivia, you can send it to trivia to
- 25:59Speaker 1: meat eater doc com. What is the main ingredient in
- 26:03Speaker 1: cowboy candy? What is the main ingredient in cowboy candy?
- 26:12Speaker 1: Nobody has come up with an answer yet. I got
- 26:14Speaker 1: Maggie Hudlow, you got this one right. I don't know, okay.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Rest of the room not as confident. What is the
- 26:22Speaker 1: main ingredient in cowboy candy? Do you know what Randal?
- 26:28Speaker 1: I think? So? Is this a this is a food?
- 26:31Speaker 1: Is that? The topic is cooking? What is the main
- 26:36Speaker 1: ingredient in cowboy candy? It's not like shotgun shells or
- 26:40Speaker 1: something like that. Some of the rooms yet to come
- 26:44Speaker 1: up with an answer. Be honest, you gotta think you're
- 26:48Speaker 1: gonna get this one. No, what percent chances it that
- 26:51Speaker 1: you get it? Sounded the press? What percentage? I don't know?
- 26:58Speaker 1: What is the main ingredient in cowboy candy? Does everybody
- 27:00Speaker 1: have an answer? I'm just sorry, man, go ahead and
- 27:05Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Steve saying beef, Maggie sang beans,
- 27:10Speaker 1: Megan saying beef, Randall sang halapinos, Brodie sang molasses, Cal
- 27:16Speaker 1: saying popcorn, then saying peanuts. Janis is saying meat. We
- 27:22Speaker 1: have a correct answer in the room. It's halapinos. Well done,
- 27:25Speaker 1: rand Oh my god, you listen. Just off the bat
- 27:32Speaker 1: he got hired, Steve. No, I just Cowboy candy is
- 27:39Speaker 1: essentially when you can handle a pino peppers with apple cider,
- 27:43Speaker 1: vinegar and sugar. They are sweet and spicy and weren't
- 27:46Speaker 1: great in cocktails, on burgers with cream cheese, and in
- 27:50Speaker 1: baked beans. The condiment originated in Texas in the nineteen twenties.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I was thinking about cowboy caviar, slightly jarred condiment, garnish.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I should say anything with cowboy and it. Randall will
- 28:06Speaker 1: get up, big stoner cowboy rand Question eight, the topic
- 28:14Speaker 1: is woodsmanship. What gender specific term describes an uncastrated adult
- 28:21Speaker 1: male horse. What gender specific term describes an uncastrated adult
- 28:30Speaker 1: male horse? Guarantee Randall doesn't get this one? Why is that? Cal? Oh?
- 28:37Speaker 1: I can't read it one more time? The topic is woodsmanship.
- 28:40Speaker 1: What gender specific term describes an uncastrated adult male horse?
- 28:46Speaker 1: You said, you think you got it right? What's the
- 28:50Speaker 1: cast rating? That's a great question too, Oh, I can
- 28:53Speaker 1: tell you that too. While we put that in parentheses.
- 28:56Speaker 1: If you'd like and then and then what do you
- 29:00Speaker 1: associate with whom in the room? That would be a
- 29:02Speaker 1: good follow up. Cal might have been a hint. Is
- 29:07Speaker 1: everybody ready, Megan, you have an answer? Oh? Just changing it, Koran?
- 29:14Speaker 1: Did Cal's hint? Give it to you? Okay, you guys
- 29:17Speaker 1: just like you guys. These people just do you see
- 29:20Speaker 1: how they look? It's like it's not even an attempt
- 29:23Speaker 1: to conceal their board. That's why we're moving to new offices,
- 29:26Speaker 1: just so we can have a new podcast. Yeah, go
- 29:30Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying stallion,
- 29:33Speaker 1: and he's sang the castrated version is a gelding. Maggie
- 29:36Speaker 1: sang Stallion. Megan sang mustang, Randall sang stallion, Brodie sang stallion,
- 29:42Speaker 1: Cal saying stallion, Korn saying mustang, Jannis sang stallion, and
- 29:47Speaker 1: the castrated version is a gelding. The room did well.
- 29:49Speaker 1: The correct answer is stallion. A mustang is a feral horse.
- 29:54Speaker 1: A foal is a juvenile horse that can be male
- 29:57Speaker 1: or female. A juvenile male is a a juvenile female
- 30:01Speaker 1: is a philly. A castrated adult male is a gelding,
- 30:05Speaker 1: an uncastrated adult male is a stallion, and an adult
- 30:09Speaker 1: female is a mayor. So we have two questions left.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Give us a scoreboard update. What do you got? I
- 30:15Speaker 1: got a question for you. Um, when someone decides to
- 30:17Speaker 1: offer up extra information that wasn't asked for, if they
- 30:21Speaker 1: got that information wrong, Steve, Steve pointed out though he
- 30:25Speaker 1: was going to put it in parentheses and to be right, no, no,
- 30:30Speaker 1: I called it out. Okay, just check bill. Give us
- 30:33Speaker 1: a scoreboard update. With two questions left, Krinn, Megan, Maggie,
- 30:38Speaker 1: cal Jannis, and Barrody have all been eliminated from I
- 30:43Speaker 1: was gonna say that last comment frustration with Randall in
- 30:48Speaker 1: the room. Players two players left are Steve with five
- 30:53Speaker 1: points hand Randall with seven. Yeah, but wow, come on,
- 30:57Speaker 1: don't give up. Man. The next two wrong. Here my
- 31:02Speaker 1: heart is beating like a drum. Here question question of nine.
- 31:11Speaker 1: The topic is fishing. This next great question comes to
- 31:14Speaker 1: his via logan what's rich. If you have a question
- 31:17Speaker 1: you think it's right from media to trivia, you can
- 31:19Speaker 1: send it to trivia to mediator dot com. Phil is
- 31:22Speaker 1: going to play you one minute of a song about fishing.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You need to tell me who the artist is. Take
- 31:28Speaker 1: it away, Phil, Oh, well, look for the artist. Need
- 31:42Speaker 1: to name the artist. Oh my gosh, he's got an
- 31:46Speaker 1: answer already. I know all the songs like this, but
- 31:57Speaker 1: not this one. The soundtrack of My Youth. It's getting cocky.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Now here we are will come from way behind, way behind,
- 32:09Speaker 1: rubbing his brow. It feels like, wait a minute, this
- 32:19Speaker 1: is my favorite part. Let's just wait. Great great tune,
- 32:23Speaker 1: just like it for the drums. Oh yeah, there might
- 32:44Speaker 1: be some guitar sounds there. Maybe I haven't heard anything
- 32:46Speaker 1: about fishing it listen, clothes said hands on the wheel,
- 32:52Speaker 1: didn't say anything about staring into monitors. Okay, go ahead
- 32:58Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Steve sang Air supply
- 33:03Speaker 1: Maggie without an answer. Billie Joel Brodie sang Billy Joel,
- 33:11Speaker 1: cal saying Phil Collins care in without an answer. Janna
- 33:14Speaker 1: sang menute work. The correct answer is Billy Joel. The
- 33:19Speaker 1: song is the down Easter Alexa Randall. It doesn't kind
- 33:23Speaker 1: of sound got it? He did something. Let me tell you.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Have you seen the movie, You've seen the documentary Hired Guns.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I don't believe I have. It's about sessions musicians. Yeah,
- 33:35Speaker 1: it's like they get like if you're let's say you
- 33:37Speaker 1: got a rock band or you're a performer, you got
- 33:39Speaker 1: the people you tour with, but that's not who you
- 33:42Speaker 1: have record And the documentary is about the maestro's right,
- 33:48Speaker 1: like the absolute best and everything, And it's the guys
- 33:51Speaker 1: that do the albums. Sometimes they'll tour, but it's like
- 33:54Speaker 1: if you if you're gonna do an album, these are
- 33:57Speaker 1: the people that come in and do the album. A
- 34:00Speaker 1: through current on. That is what an asshole Billy Joels.
- 34:04Speaker 1: It's mostly about it's it's it's about being a sessions musician.
- 34:09Speaker 1: It's mostly about the industry's hatred of Billy Joel. That's
- 34:16Speaker 1: why he only plays Madison Square Garden anymore. He doesn't
- 34:18Speaker 1: have to two a round with all those folks who
- 34:20Speaker 1: don't like him. So that's why I didn't put that
- 34:21Speaker 1: down with all of his session musicians. Is one of
- 34:30Speaker 1: the best catalogs out there. Piano Man scenes from an
- 34:32Speaker 1: Italian restaurant. Uptown Girl, I mean we didn't start the fire.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Two disc Billy Joel Greatest Hits CD was just the
- 34:41Speaker 1: way you are repeat my whole, my whole childhood, moving Out.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Billy Joel released that song on his nineteen eighty nine
- 34:48Speaker 1: album Stormfront, which went quadruple platinum. It's about a struggling
- 34:52Speaker 1: fisherman on Long Island who can barely make ends meet
- 34:56Speaker 1: a down east here. It's a type of boat that's
- 34:58Speaker 1: popular among lobster fisherm in New England, and Alexa is
- 35:02Speaker 1: his daughter's name. Thus Joel called the song the down
- 35:05Speaker 1: Easter Alexa. He was sold as Sasha's musician. He told
- 35:12Speaker 1: him you're too nice as career advice. And here we
- 35:18Speaker 1: are today with Steve not answering like that linger. We
- 35:23Speaker 1: have one question left. We know our winner already that
- 35:26Speaker 1: randall take that home for the weekend. Okays the game anyway?
- 35:32Speaker 1: See how badly the poem was right. Steve just shares
- 35:38Speaker 1: his knowledge is a mental what's wrong? Baby? He smokes
- 35:52Speaker 1: a little weed? Question ten, the topic is public land.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Which state is home to the Tuskegee National Forest and
- 36:02Speaker 1: Talladega National Forest? I got it right, Randall may not
- 36:09Speaker 1: get this one right again? Looking for which state is
- 36:12Speaker 1: home to the Tuskegee National Forest and Talladega National Forest.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I wish folks could have witnessed that Steve just threw
- 36:23Speaker 1: his eracer at our guest. Megan's not going to come
- 36:28Speaker 1: back on this show. You're going to get this one right?
- 36:35Speaker 1: I don't think so. Okay, does everybody have an answer
- 36:38Speaker 1: for which state is home to the Tuskegee National Forest
- 36:42Speaker 1: and Talladega National Forest? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 36:47Speaker 1: We have Steve saying what's that? Say Alabama? Maggie sang Minnesota,
- 36:53Speaker 1: Megan sang Tennessee, Randall sang Florida, Brody sang Alabama, Canl
- 36:58Speaker 1: sang Alabama, r In saying Michigan, Jannis saying Tennessee. The
- 37:03Speaker 1: correct answer is Alabama. Nice. Did you say Michigan ran?
- 37:08Speaker 1: Because of Steve's reaction? I did? That was why I
- 37:13Speaker 1: changed my answer now, Jannis, what was up with all
- 37:17Speaker 1: that confidence to get that one wrong? I don't know, okay,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I thought that was in Tennessee. At just twelve thousand acres.
- 37:27Speaker 1: The Tuskegee is the smallest national forest in America at
- 37:31Speaker 1: seventeen million acres. The Tongus National Forest in Alaska is
- 37:35Speaker 1: the biggest national forest. That means you could fit one thousand,
- 37:37Speaker 1: four hundred Tuskegee National Forest in the Tongus. How badly
- 37:43Speaker 1: did Randall win? Did you win by one or two? Two?
- 37:45Speaker 1: Randle finished with eight. Stephen Brody were up next with
- 37:48Speaker 1: six points of piece. We'd be having a showdown if
- 37:54Speaker 1: it wasn't for that cowboy question in the stoner question'd
- 37:58Speaker 1: be like like tiebreaker. But now it's like, oh yeah
- 38:06Speaker 1: the old days, which was a week ago, are you
- 38:10Speaker 1: only got eight? Yeah? Oh I thought you were going
- 38:12Speaker 1: for perfect games. You get to choose where the five
- 38:17Speaker 1: hundred dollars donation from meat eater goes. So what's it
- 38:20Speaker 1: gonna be? Uh, let's do TRCP. What do you like
- 38:25Speaker 1: about that? Kiss? Wonderful organization guaranteeing all Americans quality places
- 38:35Speaker 1: to hunt and fish. They get a lot of stuff
- 38:37Speaker 1: done behind the scenes and just proud and happy to
- 38:41Speaker 1: support the mission. Well done, randall. Megan, thank you for
- 38:44Speaker 1: joining us. I bet you beat your husband when this
- 38:46Speaker 1: episode comes out, right, I'll let you know. Okay, now, Megan,
