- 0:08Speaker 2: Follow her on Twitter x oh even better at substack
- 0:11Speaker 2: on substacks, she's got columns and podcasts and videos and
- 0:14Speaker 2: interviews and all sorts of stuff. Just go to and
- 0:17Speaker 2: Culture dot substack dot com and culture. How you doing.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Fine? Then? So how are you, Mark Simone?
- 0:26Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what the hell happened
- 0:30Speaker 2: last night.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Well, I've been warning all of you forever. Actually, I
- 0:35Speaker 1: hope you appreciate my amazing restraint and not attacking Cuomo
- 0:40Speaker 1: at least not as much as usual for the last
- 0:43Speaker 1: few weeks. No, he was a sure loser. There are
- 0:45Speaker 1: a million reasons to hate Cuomo. I still, you can't
- 0:49Speaker 1: run the experiment twice. And it was the foreign born
- 0:52Speaker 1: and women that apparently took the Communis mussolm over the top.
- 0:56Speaker 1: They were very excited about them and ha haha, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: now they'll have to live with him. But everybody should
- 1:01Speaker 1: have just gotten behind. Adams immediately told force Sliwa and
- 1:05Speaker 1: Cuomo to drop out, because that just makes it a
- 1:08Speaker 1: clearer choice what you you can keep what you have now,
- 1:11Speaker 1: which you may not like or some get something much
- 1:14Speaker 1: much worse. But when you have I mean, I guess
- 1:18Speaker 1: the New York Posts on an art of somebody had
- 1:20Speaker 1: an article some woman writing Cuomo killed my husband. I
- 1:24Speaker 1: still voted for him. When when that's what it's coming
- 1:27Speaker 1: down to. I mean, I salute that poor woman trying
- 1:31Speaker 1: to keep Dommy out. But they're just there are just
- 1:35Speaker 1: too many reasons I hate Andrew Cuomo.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the problem is going into the primary, he
- 1:39Speaker 2: scared Adams out with his big name recognition is billions
- 1:42Speaker 2: of billionaires donor money in it. So Adams didn't enter
- 1:46Speaker 2: the Democratic primary and he might have done better against
- 1:48Speaker 2: Mom Donnie in those debates. Cuoma was a disaster.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and he also represents everything Mom Dommy voters
- 1:59Speaker 1: are against the old school establishment and Democratic Party, which
- 2:05Speaker 1: I don't know they voted for that too. But and
- 2:08Speaker 1: worst of all, to get to have the billionaires getting
- 2:11Speaker 1: behind him as the best choice, I mean, it just
- 2:13Speaker 1: shows you the point you and I have made many times.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Rich people are just such morons about politics.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the kiss of death. Whenever the big donors,
- 2:23Speaker 2: the big billionaires are behind somebody, it's a guaranteed loss.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You could shout it out one hundred percent of the time.
- 2:29Speaker 1: So yes, I'm speaking of the Virginia governors, right, Yes,
- 2:35Speaker 1: that Winsome Sears. What's the full name win Some Earl Sears,
- 2:40Speaker 1: Earl Sears. That's it. Yeah, for one thing, it's too
- 2:43Speaker 1: long and name too complicated. You on something simple like
- 2:45Speaker 1: top two years ago when she was three years ago,
- 2:51Speaker 1: four years ago she was elected lieutenant governor. That was
- 2:55Speaker 1: catt for Republican donors. Oh my gosh, we have a
- 2:58Speaker 1: woman and a person of color and it's a Republican.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We must run this person for president. Whereas, as I
- 3:06Speaker 1: keep pointing out, probably because of this rocket fuel that
- 3:11Speaker 1: black Republicans get in order to win the nomination when
- 3:14Speaker 1: they might not have given given other other demographics, Black
- 3:19Speaker 1: Republicans have a long history of lots of enthusiasm and
- 3:24Speaker 1: then losing.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So these big, big donors, so they always you're right,
- 3:29Speaker 2: like like what Colma, They said, well, he's got the experience,
- 3:31Speaker 2: but it was a very bad experience.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And Domini nailed him on that in the second debate.
- 3:38Speaker 1: He was writing about an experience and that's exactly what
- 3:42Speaker 1: mom Donnie came back with. Yeah, it's the worst kind
- 3:44Speaker 1: of experience. You did this, this and this, and I
- 3:48Speaker 1: mean I think the biggest one is he well two
- 3:51Speaker 1: of them. As we have discussed, he is one of
- 3:55Speaker 1: one of the New York politicians most responsible, and he
- 3:59Speaker 1: was governor for the cashless veil law when when Democrats
- 4:03Speaker 1: were about to get control of both houses of the legislature.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think this was, what was it like twenty seventeen
- 4:10Speaker 1: to eighteen me it's fairly recently. He vowed on the
- 4:14Speaker 1: campaign trail. It was when he was running for his
- 4:15Speaker 1: third term, so whenever that was, he vowed on the
- 4:18Speaker 1: campaign trail that the first bill he would sign would
- 4:22Speaker 1: be cashless veil, and that, of course has has ripped
- 4:26Speaker 1: the city apart with with criminals running while looting, killing, stabbing, raping,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and and of course the COVID shutdowns when he was
- 4:35Speaker 1: just an absolute authoritarian and we now know every one
- 4:38Speaker 1: of his measures was a disaster. He destroyed kids' lives,
- 4:42Speaker 1: destroyed endless businesses, kept packing states that were doing it right,
- 4:48Speaker 1: like Florida, and forcing Floridians when they flew in, Oh
- 4:54Speaker 1: my gosh, you've got to be quarantined. Like you know,
- 4:56Speaker 1: we're coming from a lepers colony, and of course Florida
- 4:59Speaker 1: did far better than New York did on COVID without
- 5:04Speaker 1: destroying any businesses and allowing the citizens to live free.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you know the problem that there's no we don't
- 5:11Speaker 2: have a Republican party in New York. Democratic Party is
- 5:13Speaker 2: a huge machine with infrastructure, lots of people. There's nothing. No,
- 5:18Speaker 2: how do we ever fix that?
- 5:21Speaker 1: Well, it's very hard. I noticed this years ago, and
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe New York, but also California. I've met.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I've met at the Metropolitan Republican Club, or I'd sometimes
- 5:31Speaker 1: do speeches and book signs on the Upper East Side.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Sometimes you'd meet, you know, a candidate running for this
- 5:38Speaker 1: or that office as a Republican, and I always kind
- 5:42Speaker 1: of laugh and say, why why are you doing this?
- 5:46Speaker 1: You have no chance of me. But this is where
- 5:49Speaker 1: I don't know. I think we need to kidnap the
- 5:54Speaker 1: New York's billionaires, tie them up, and force them to
- 5:57Speaker 1: do what we say, which is to find some one
- 6:00Speaker 1: who can run as an independent. What did Bloomberg run
- 6:02Speaker 1: asks first time, both both a Republican and an independent.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but you gotta remember it was right after nine
- 6:07Speaker 2: to eleven. Rudy Giuliani was the greatest hero in America,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and he campaigned for Bloomberg. That's what put Bloomberg over
- 6:13Speaker 2: the top.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yes, and also the city what got Giuliani elected. I mean,
- 6:19Speaker 1: this city has had twenty years of Republican rule until
- 6:23Speaker 1: Democrats came in and started slowly, just not slowly, actually
- 6:26Speaker 1: quite rapidly dismantling it. And Giuliani got in after after
- 6:32Speaker 1: New York City became became Charles Bronson's death wish. So,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I mean, I guess this is semi good news for Republicans.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Not New Yorkers, but Republicans. Okay, let's see what the
- 6:47Speaker 1: communist Muslim does. He'll have a record by the time
- 6:50Speaker 1: midterms roll around next year.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Now, if you watch his victory speech, the smiling salesman
- 6:56Speaker 2: all of a sudden had a really angry tone to him.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Is that indication that he's going to be a lot
- 7:01Speaker 2: worse than we think?
- 7:04Speaker 1: I assume A lot of people have commented on that.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I especially liked his very first sentence, fighting socialist Eugene
- 7:12Speaker 1: dem Oh, that that's got a big cheer from the audience.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, we've got to take away women's right
- 7:19Speaker 1: to vote. I think he's he's experienced the blowback and
- 7:26Speaker 1: he will go back to being the smiling mom Donnie
- 7:30Speaker 1: now because that You're absolutely right, that was quite jarring.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And boy, that's not bringing us together.
- 7:36Speaker 2: No, and now would you agree with our other guests,
- 7:38Speaker 2: this is it. We're done with Andrew Cuomo. We don't
- 7:41Speaker 2: have to worry about him running for anything again.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Speaking of the unkind things, the snottiness of Mom Donny's
- 7:49Speaker 1: victory siege, one of the first things he said was,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I hope I'll never have to say we've destroyed a
- 7:56Speaker 1: political legacy. I hope I will never have to say
- 7:59Speaker 1: the word cloma again. Yes, I mean, I happen to
- 8:02Speaker 1: agree with that. I don't think i'd say that in
- 8:05Speaker 1: a magnanimous victory speech. You're supposed to be saying, and
- 8:09Speaker 1: you know, I congratulations to the other side. We ran
- 8:11Speaker 1: a tough campaign. They always act as if I might
- 8:15Speaker 1: add here, because I've heard people commenting on Mom Dammi's
- 8:19Speaker 1: snippy victory speech. They always say, oh, well, this comes
- 8:23Speaker 1: from Trump. What do you expect it's Trump? Oh my gosh.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Trump is exactly the opposite.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He is totally magnanimous.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Yeah, he likes to joke around. He's a professional wrestler.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Everybody laughs, We have a good time. His victory speeches
- 8:40Speaker 3: are I mean, you recall he was reaching out like.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Mad to the Democrats, to the New York Times his
- 8:45Speaker 1: first term, and you know they responded by impeaching him twice.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah, well we got through to Blasio, we got through
- 8:53Speaker 2: the pandemic. We'll get through this, right, It'll be okay, yes, okay, Yes.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It is New York City. And also, as usual, as
- 9:03Speaker 1: we've talked about, whenever these socialists claim they're doing something
- 9:06Speaker 1: for the poor, the rich benefit them up. So I
- 9:08Speaker 1: think we're gonna be fine.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Mark, that's a good point. Excellently. Let's end on that
- 9:15Speaker 2: happy note. Everybody follow and Culture on Twitter, also substacks.
