- 0:00We are starting a new book today, The Book of Ezekiel from
- 0:04the Bible and starting with chapter 1.
- 0:08And this time I actually have an additional resource besides the
- 0:12study Bible that I have and I'm reading simultaneously with the
- 0:18chapters that we're covering this new book that was released
- 0:22by Amir Sarfati called Exploring Ezekiel, and I highly recommend
- 0:28it. You can buy it on Amazon or
- 0:32probably through Behold Israel is his website.
- 0:37But Amir is spelled AM, IR Sarfati is TSARFATI.
- 0:47And this book about Ezekiel, here's his caption from it.
- 0:51The next big war, Earth's final days, and your eternal
- 0:56destination. So this is really going to be an
- 1:01interesting book to get through. And I'm just going to take it
- 1:04chapter by chapter as I've done before.
- 1:06And let's get started. First, let's pray, Dear Lord,
- 1:10please be with us as we read through this chapter.
- 1:15Give us wisdom and insight and understanding.
- 1:18We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. So let's get started here.
- 1:24In my 30th year, in the fourth month, on the 5th day, while I
- 1:29was among the Exiles by the Kibar River, the heavens were
- 1:34opened and I saw visions of God. Now there's some things that I
- 1:39don't really have to add. Actually, there's a little bit
- 1:42more. Let's continue verse 2 on the
- 1:445th of the month, it was the fifth year of the exile of King
- 1:49Jehoiachin. The word of the Lord came to
- 1:52Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, by the Kibar River in the
- 1:56land of the Babylonians. There the hand of the Lord was
- 2:00on him. So there's some things that I
- 2:04this is what I so appreciate things that Amir shares and I do
- 2:10think it's very worth it to get the book.
- 2:12Like I said, I just started reading it, but it's very, very
- 2:15good so far. Just the things, the commentary
- 2:18that he says it's easy to read, not, you know, like in a very
- 2:23conversational type book. So the one thing that when we
- 2:31get into this, there's going to be a lot of strange imagery
- 2:35that's talked about. And I love that Amir, you know,
- 2:40immediately says this vision is not an allegory and that that is
- 2:46important for us to keep in mind.
- 2:49And and then it's not a myth. And Ezekiel ties his visions and
- 2:55events to specific days in history.
- 3:00And so I think what I'll do is I'm going to just read a few
- 3:03paragraphs from Amir's book because he says it's so much
- 3:09better than I could. So the 4th month was Tammuz,
- 3:13which was the Babylonian name given to honor the Mesopotamian
- 3:18God of fertility. The Hebrews called it Nissan.
- 3:22The 30th year most likely was referring to Ezekiel, marking
- 3:28the age when one in the priestly line could begin his service.
- 3:33Now see, that's something that I wouldn't know.
- 3:36And I think Amir is from Israel. So he is he can add so much
- 3:42light to the Old Testament and understanding what Jewish,
- 3:48Jewish culture holds. And I think that is just so
- 3:52important when we read the Bible is to have that perspective.
- 3:56So that's another reason why I highly recommend his books.
- 3:59Plus he is a man of God. Great speaker too.
- 4:02If you're not following him, he's on Telegram.
- 4:04If you want to keep up to date on world events that are
- 4:07happening and how they relate to the Bible.
- 4:10He's also on YouTube. It's called Behold Israel is the
- 4:15name of his website and I think his YouTube account and also,
- 4:20well, Telegram is his name, but he has a lot of pretend follow.
- 4:26Well, he has a lot of fake accounts that use his name, but
- 4:30he has probably the last time I looked, I guess over 600,000
- 4:34followers. So if you follow him on
- 4:36Telegram, if you want to stay up to date with probably a lot of
- 4:41what this book is going to be about, he'll be featuring on
- 4:44that Telegram channel as it unfolds.
- 4:48Anyway, getting back to Ezekiel, so he the 30th year, most likely
- 4:54referring to Ezekiel marking the age when one in the priestly
- 4:58line would begin his service. See, that is something only
- 5:04someone from from Israel would know.
- 5:08Knowing Knowing that, we would need a more definite temporal
- 5:13anchor than his personal timeline.
- 5:15Ezekiel also told his readers that it was the fifth year of
- 5:19King Jehoiachin's captivity. That was a date that every
- 5:23Israelite could place. King Jehoiachin, also known in
- 5:28the Bible in some Bible translations as Kunaya, was the
- 5:33second to last monarch of Israel, grandson to the last
- 5:38good King Josiah, and son of Jehoiah Kim.
- 5:44He came to power after his father rebelled against
- 5:46Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar was the king of
- 5:49Babylon. Some translations have
- 5:51Jehoiachin at age 8 and some at 18 when he ascended to the
- 5:56throne. Most likely the latter is true
- 5:59because three months later, when Nebuchadnezzar exiled him to
- 6:03Babylon, he brought with him his mother and his wives, among
- 6:08others. As we mentioned earlier, this
- 6:11was the same exile that took Ezekiel and 10,000 others to
- 6:15Babylon, the Last King in the Davidic line.
- 6:19Jehovah's godless legacy is one that fits the history of the
- 6:23Jewish people of this failed monarch.
- 6:26Jeremiah wrote thus says the Lord, write this man down as
- 6:31childless, a man who shall not prosper in his days, for none of
- 6:35his descendants shall prosper sitting on the throne of David
- 6:39and ruling anymore in Judah. So Jeremiah who was a prophet
- 6:44also, I'm adding to this now. Jeremiah who was a prophet also,
- 6:48he, his prophecy came true. Again, this when prophecies come
- 6:54true and they come to fruition. This just shows us that the
- 6:57Bible is real, the Bible is true, prophecy is true.
- 7:01And we can look at this book of Ezekiel as another.
- 7:05It is a prophetic book and that these things will come to pass
- 7:10someday when it gets into the prophecy.
- 7:12This part is not necessarily about prophecy, so I just have a
- 7:17little bit more to read. Again, most Israelites would
- 7:19recognize the fifth year of Jehoiachin's reign.
- 7:23However, that particular event doesn't show up on most of our
- 7:27wall calendars today, so let's interpret it.
- 7:30Let's interpret up placing the date as July 31st, 593 BCA real
- 7:39day on a real timeline. So that is some insight from
- 7:47Amir and another thing that he mentions in his book.
- 7:51What you are about to read has had theologians puzzled and
- 7:55confounded for 2 1/2 millennia. And we he reminds us that the
- 8:05imagery that we see was not the purpose of this vision that
- 8:12Ezekiel has. It wasn't to understand what he
- 8:15was seeing, but the purpose was to give Ezekiel A commissioning
- 8:21to for God to tell Ezekiel what he wanted him to do.
- 8:28So it was different than the book of Daniel, which we just
- 8:31read. This is what Amir says.
- 8:32To Daniel, God wanted to give insight into the future.
- 8:36To Ezekiel, God wanted to give a glimpse of himself.
- 8:43So let's get started back to the book, the Bible.
- 8:48I looked and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north, an
- 8:53immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by
- 8:57brilliant light. The center of the fire looked
- 9:00like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like 4
- 9:05living creatures in appearance. Their form was human, but each
- 9:10of them had four faces and four wings.
- 9:13Their legs were straight. Their feet were like those of a
- 9:17calf and gleamed like burnished bronze under their wings.
- 9:22On their four sides they had human hands.
- 9:26All four of them had faces and wings, and the wings of one
- 9:31touched the wings of the other. Each one went straight ahead.
- 9:35They did it. They did not turn as they moved.
- 9:39Their faces looked like this. Each of the four had the face of
- 9:43a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a
- 9:48lion, and on the left side of an ox each also had a face of an
- 9:54eagle. Such were their faces.
- 9:57They each had two wings spread, spreading out upward, each wing
- 10:04touching that of the creature on the other side, and each had two
- 10:09wings covering its body. Each one went straight ahead.
- 10:13Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning
- 10:18as they went. The appearance of the living
- 10:20creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches.
- 10:26Fire moved back and forth among the creatures.
- 10:30It was bright and lightning flashed out of it.
- 10:34The creatures speed back and forth like flashes of lightning.
- 10:38As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the
- 10:41ground beside each creature with its four faces.
- 10:46This was the appearance and structure of the wheels.
- 10:49They sparkled like Topaz, and all four looked alike.
- 10:54Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel as
- 11:00they moved. They would go in any one of the
- 11:03four directions. The creature's face.
- 11:07The wheels did not change directions as the creatures
- 11:10went. Their rims were high and
- 11:13awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around.
- 11:19When the creatures moved, the wheels beside them moved, and
- 11:23when the living creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also
- 11:27rose. Wherever the spirit would go,
- 11:30they would go, and the wheels would arise along with them.
- 11:35Because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels,
- 11:39when the creatures moved, they also moved.
- 11:43When the creatures stood still, they also stood still.
- 11:47And when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels along
- 11:51with them, because the spirit of the living living creatures was
- 11:55in the wheels. Spread out above the heads of
- 12:00the living creatures was what looked something like a vault,
- 12:05sparkling like crystal and awesome.
- 12:09Under the vault, their wings were stretched out, one toward
- 12:13the other, and each had two wings covering its body.
- 12:18When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings,
- 12:21like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty,
- 12:27like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they
- 12:32lowered their wings. Then there came a voice from
- 12:36above the vault over their heads as they stood with lowered wings
- 12:41above the vault. Vault over their heads was what
- 12:45looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the
- 12:51throne was a figure like that of a man.
- 12:55I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up, he looked like
- 13:01glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from down there
- 13:07down he looked like fire and brilliant light surrounded him.
- 13:13Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so
- 13:18was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the
- 13:23likeness of the glory of the Lord.
- 13:26When I saw it, I fell face down and I heard the voice of one
- 13:31speaking. That's the end of chapter 1.
- 13:35So this entire description that Ezekiel went through is
- 13:40something that is also was also seen by John in the Book of
- 13:46Revelation. And Ezekiel himself shares
- 13:50another vision that even elaborates more in chapter 10.
- 13:56He calls them cherubim. Ezekiel 10 verse 14.
- 14:01Each of the cherubim had four faces.
- 14:05One face was that of of a cherub, the second the face of a
- 14:10human being, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the
- 14:13face of an eagle. And he also, he, he says then
- 14:19the cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures
- 14:22I had seen by the Kibar River. So he sees them a second time in
- 14:26chapter 10. He talks about these creatures
- 14:28that he saw. Now what's similar is what John
- 14:31saw in the Book of Revelation that he documented in two
- 14:36chapters, Revelation 4 and Revelation 14.
- 14:40So in chapter 4 verse 6 of Revelation, John says also in
- 14:47front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of of
- 14:52glass crystal clears crystal. In the center around the throne
- 14:57were four living creatures. They were covered with eyes in
- 15:02front and in back. The first living creature was
- 15:05like a lion. Remember this, the the ones that
- 15:08Ezekiel saw had these four different faces.
- 15:11It says the first living creature was like a lion, the
- 15:14second was like an ox. The third had a face of a man.
- 15:17The 4th was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living
- 15:21creatures had 6 wings and was covered with eyes all around.
- 15:25Even under its wings, day and night, they'd never stop saying
- 15:29Holy, holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is
- 15:34to come whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and
- 15:39thanks to Him who sits on the throne.
- 15:41Whenever the creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him
- 15:45who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever.
- 15:48The 24 elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and
- 15:53worship him who lives forever and ever.
- 15:55They lay their crowns before the throne and say you are worthy
- 15:59our Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power.
- 16:02For you created all things, and by your will they were created
- 16:07and have their being. Then in Revelation chapter 14,
- 16:13it says that it talks about them again.
- 16:20This is this is about the 144,000.
- 16:24So Revelation 14 verse 3 and they sang a new song.
- 16:28These are the 144,000 before the throne and before the four
- 16:34living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song
- 16:38except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
- 16:42So that's a whole nother story. But these are several different
- 16:46visions of the throne of God where these same things are
- 16:49seen. And it's interesting in the
- 16:51Bible how, you know, God established that the testimony
- 16:55of two witnesses is required for something to be truth.
- 16:58So God in his, you know, design of law and order, he actually
- 17:05has two witnesses, Ezekiel and John, who share the same thing.
- 17:10Now, one other thing that these cherubim are also angels.
- 17:19They are a certain type of angels.
- 17:21And as I've appreciated that Amir said this because in if you
- 17:27have been listening to the podcast, there was some
- 17:31speculation that I gave about them being angels.
- 17:35And we know that there are some good angels and there are some
- 17:41what we call fallen angels or angels who rebelled against God.
- 17:45So here's another a sample from Amir's book.
- 17:51What Ezekiel and later John saw surrounding the throne of God
- 17:56were angels. However, they were very
- 17:59different than the cute little diapered Valentine cherubs who
- 18:03live on Hallmark cards. Aren't angels supposed to be
- 18:07beautiful and ethereal rather than cow faced or eagle beaked?
- 18:12Sometimes they are almost our most infamous among the cherubim
- 18:17is Lucifer, of whom the Lord said through Ezekiel.
- 18:23So we'll read about this in the future.
- 18:26You were the perfect seal, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
- 18:31You were the anointed cherub who covers I established you.
- 18:36You were on the holy mountain of God.
- 18:39You walked back and forth in the midst of the fiery stones.
- 18:43You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created
- 18:48till iniquity was found in you. Your heart was lifted up because
- 18:53of your beauty. You corrupted your wisdom for
- 18:57the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground.
- 19:02I laid you before the kings that they might gaze at you.
- 19:08And that will be found in Ezekiel chapter 28 verses 1214
- 19:13through 15 and 17. So we do know that, you know,
- 19:19Lucifer rebelled against God. He wasn't satisfied with who God
- 19:24created him to be and he wanted to be more.
- 19:26He wanted to be a God, which brings about the speculation
- 19:30that I had in a prior chapter, which I think it's just
- 19:32interesting to contemplate and the reality.
- 19:37I mean this, this also to me, this also a comes to the
- 19:45authenticity of the Bible. So go back in ancient time, in
- 19:50ancient history in Mesopotamia, in Egypt, in all of these other
- 19:56countries, the ancient countries and look at the gods that they
- 20:01worshipped. And you will notice, you will
- 20:04see like a God with an eagle head, You will see gods with
- 20:09wings. You will see a bull God like I
- 20:14think Molech was that where they sacrificed children to that God
- 20:19and they they aren't gods. The point is.
- 20:21But here's what I believe. This is a theory and it just
- 20:26seems like it's affirmed in so many different ways
- 20:31archaeologically, when we find artifacts, when the world finds,
- 20:35discovers artifacts from ancient times and they see these
- 20:39depictions. I don't think these depictions
- 20:42were myths that people made-up. I think these people, they
- 20:47weren't, I don't think they were dumb people back then.
- 20:49I think that they, they were, you know, I don't think they
- 20:52were ignorant, stupid, whatever you want to call it.
- 20:55I, I don't think they were like Stone Age type people.
- 20:59I think they were intelligent people, as intelligent as we
- 21:02are. And they literally saw things
- 21:06like Ezekiel saw these, you know, he is having this reaction
- 21:11to this vision that he's like falling down on the ground like,
- 21:14Oh my Lord, what is this? Could you imagine if you had
- 21:18this vision, if you were out in the woods somewhere or out by a
- 21:23river somewhere and all of a sudden you are, I don't know, I
- 21:26guess he was with other people here, but all of a sudden you
- 21:29saw these things. I mean, it would be kind of
- 21:32terrifying or maybe peaceful, depending on if you, the spirit,
- 21:38the spirit that was behind it. And so Ezekiel saw this.
- 21:42I think other people in ancient history saw these things too.
- 21:47And that's how they, they called them gods because that's what
- 21:50they saw. That's the only thing they saw.
- 21:52That's what they thought God was.
- 21:54And then they started worshipping it.
- 21:56But I think these were actually the fallen angels who wanted to
- 22:00be worshipped like God. And so all these different old
- 22:04ancient religions that were established that worship these
- 22:09entities are beings other than the true God himself.
- 22:13They're actually worshipping fallen angels and don't even
- 22:17know it. The angels seem to have a way
- 22:22about coming to people with quote new revelations that take
- 22:29away Jesus out of the picture because Jesus is essential for
- 22:33salvation. So Jesus is the way, the truth
- 22:37and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through
- 22:41him. So and then Jesus gives us the
- 22:44Holy Spirit and in order to inherit the Kingdom of God, we
- 22:50need the Holy Spirit. So these fallen angels don't
- 22:53want us to share in God's Kingdom.
- 22:56They don't want us to inherit the Kingdom of God.
- 23:00So what do they have to do to make that not happen?
- 23:03They have to make people take Jesus out of the picture.
- 23:07Keep doing your religion, but take Jesus out and don't talk
- 23:11about the Holy Spirit because it's so critical and crucial for
- 23:17us to have to be in the Kingdom of God.
- 23:20So I really think this is kind of like eye opening information
- 23:25and look it up yourself. Look at all these different
- 23:29ancient gods that the Egyptians worshipped that you know,
- 23:36Babylon, Mesopotamia and the the gods of the you know, the small
- 23:42G gods, which I believe are fallen angels that the Bible
- 23:45talks about, and they could be other beings.
- 23:47Maybe they aren't fallen angels, but you know, there are some
- 23:51that you know, the bull face. I mean it just and then you have
- 23:54a human also, which could be, you know, cursor for the
- 23:59Antichrist, the lawless one. But these are some created
- 24:05beings that God created that want to be a God that came and
- 24:10manifested and were seen by human beings.
- 24:14So very interesting stuff. And this book, you know, it has
- 24:19a has a lot in it. It's a great book to read.
- 24:22So I will wrap this up today. Don't want to make it too long.
- 24:25This is probably my shortest one in a while, but I hope if you,
- 24:30if you want to get closer to God, it says faith comes by
- 24:33hearing the word and hearing the word about the gospel message
- 24:36about God's Kingdom, when we hear about God's Kingdom and
- 24:40that his intention is for us to be there.
- 24:43That's why I am reading a chapter a day every day and
- 24:47doing this podcast. Hopefully someone else will
- 24:49listen to it as well. And if you want to be on the
- 24:53same path and start the new year, right, we're just a few
- 24:56days into the new year. Subscribe to the podcast and
- 25:02come back and listen to it when you can.
- 25:03I know a lot of them tend to be long.
- 25:05So whenever you get the chance to do it, it's great for drive
- 25:09time or maybe even walking because walking is a good thing
- 25:12to do to get some exercise. So maybe you can get a lot of
- 25:17exercise and listen to one of these podcasts.
- 25:19Anyway, I hope your year is starting out well and that you
- 25:23subscribe and that you come back and that you share this with
- 25:26other people because ultimately we all are here.
- 25:30Anybody who's studying the Bible, we all want people to
- 25:34enter the Kingdom of God because that's God's will.
