- 5:52is City Councilhole's first reading of budget for the twenty
- 5:56twenty six twenty seven fiscal year. Notes that budget is
- 6:01comparable to last year's. In budget statement, city received sixty
- 6:05one thousand, six hundred and thirty five dollars and nine
- 6:08cents in municipal road aid from the state. By Miranda M. Cantrell,
- 6:15The West Liberty City Council, during a special May twenty
- 6:18six meeting, held the first reading of a budget ordinance
- 6:22for the twenty twenty six twenty seven fiscal year. The
- 6:26meeting was held a day after the regularly scheduled date
- 6:30of May twenty fifth, due to Memorial Day holiday. Mayor
- 6:34Kyle Risner issued a statement to the council outlining the
- 6:38proposed budget, which totals eight million, sixty nine thousand, three
- 6:44hundred and fifty one dollars across all funds. This year's
- 6:48budget is comparable to last year's budget with a few changes.
- 6:52As you know, inflation is on the rise and at
- 6:55some point the highest levels We have seen in many
- 6:58years letters from companies almost daily talking about the prices
- 7:04of materials and supplies that are rising along with fuel cost.
- 7:09We have planned to purchase four vehicles, one for police,
- 7:13one for sewer, one for street and one for gas.
- 7:17The police department and administrative administration departments have planned for
- 7:23some software changes that will help keep the city in
- 7:27compliance and help keep things as efficient as possible. The
- 7:32only change in revenue expected at this time is two
- 7:36point seven percent CPI increase for gas, which is based
- 7:42on the national inflation rate, and the second part of
- 7:46the water and sewer rate increase that was implemented last
- 7:50year that was to span a three year term. We
- 7:55hope this will help offset some of the increases we
- 8:01are facing from our suppliers. As for general operations, no
- 8:05major changes are expected. Following the budget presentation, Councilman Rusty
- 8:10Linden made a motion that was seconded by Council Grant
- 8:14Sorrel to approve the budget Ordinance on the first reading.
- 8:18The motion carried unanimously. Council members are expected to hold

- 8:38are addressed in the new code. City Attorney Daniel Frederick

- 8:47to a discussion. Regarding subdivision regulations, City Clerk Amy Williams
- 8:52told the Courier during a June first interview the subdivision's
- 8:56regulations must be addressed in a separate ordinance. However, other
- 9:02items unanimously approved during the meeting, including the following as
- 9:07per minutes, as per minute, as per meeting minutes. I'm
- 9:12sorry about that. Budget amendments. First reading, the council approved
