A first look at Madison’s new men’s shelter
After months of delays, a highly-anticipated men’s shelter is slated to open its doors on September 1st. The purpose-built shelter, located on Madison’s east side, is a joint effort between the city and Dane County that aims to fill a gap in services and connect more people to stable housing. WORT’s Brian Standing made the trip to Bartillon Drive on Monday evening for an early tour of the new facility, where he had a chance to speak with Jim O’Keefe, Madison’s director of Community Development.
