Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, favorite time of the week.
- 0:04Speaker 1: You get to download the crazy sheet. You get to
- 0:06Speaker 1: talk about some college football with Mark and Scotty. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: here in the podcasting studio. Scotty's at home. Brother, how
- 0:12Speaker 1: the hell are you after last week?
- 0:13Speaker 2: Man, I'm great. How about that week last week?
- 0:17Speaker 1: It's good.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I mean, that was fabulous. The ending of the UCF
- 0:22Speaker 2: game is one of the craziest games I've ever seen.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It was.
- 0:27Speaker 1: It was a really long 15 minutes. Watch. I can
- 0:30Speaker 1: just say that. I mean, it was, it was like, wait, okay. That,
- 0:33Speaker 1: that happened.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Never seen that. Okay. Great.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yep. Okay. Yeah. I mean, it was exciting play after
- 0:39Speaker 2: exciting play. I mean, just, there was just a lot
- 0:42Speaker 2: to love in, in that ball game. I thought the
- 0:45Speaker 2: greatest thing and it didn't, and I still can't figure
- 0:47Speaker 2: out how they ruled what they ruled on the kick.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Frost makes a great decision to kick on third down.
- 0:54Speaker 2: They recover it. His helmet gets snatched. They said he
- 0:58Speaker 2: took his helmet off, so it was a 15. He
- 1:00Speaker 2: didn't take his helmet off. That was a totally BS dollar.
- 1:04Speaker 2: They said he took him off, so check it out.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Totally trying to salvage BYU getting a W there and
- 1:10Speaker 2: get it to overtime, because the kid should have gotten
- 1:13Speaker 2: another kick at it. He should have, and that was
- 1:15Speaker 2: a great block to stop it. Not saying they wouldn't
- 1:17Speaker 2: have blocked it again, because they almost blocked that extra
- 1:19Speaker 2: point on the first one, but on the first score
- 1:22Speaker 2: in overtime, but Great ball game there. Fighting Burt Bielema's.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oregon's just not that good. I mean, they're really not. Minnesota,
- 1:33Speaker 2: my man row the boat, getting it done. He's got
- 1:35Speaker 2: a tough three-week stretch. He won that game last week.
- 1:38Speaker 2: They're at Indiana this week. And then they host UCLA
- 1:44Speaker 2: next week. This is a gigantic line this week. So
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm absolutely fascinated to see How they handle that this weekend. Big,
- 1:57Speaker 2: big number. Row the boat's getting it done. I mean,
- 2:00Speaker 2: just a lot of fun stuff. Virginia Tech. I won
- 2:03Speaker 2: so many underdog bets last week. I hadn't had a
- 2:07Speaker 2: week like that in forever. Last week was good, yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It was really good. Had a couple of those Moneyline
- 2:13Speaker 1: parlays that came home for us. Had a bunch of
- 2:16Speaker 1: stuff that was off the pod that came home, though.
- 2:18Speaker 1: upset about that uh you gotta get more shake up
- 2:21Speaker 1: in college football texas tech finally lifted their skirt and
- 2:25Speaker 1: showed their true colors after just getting run out of
- 2:27Speaker 1: the building by cincinnati after just all the lip service
- 2:30Speaker 1: that cody campbell gave it and that texas tech team
- 2:33Speaker 1: may not be done losing you're gonna find out if
- 2:35Speaker 1: they've got any mustard left in the tank when they
- 2:37Speaker 1: play this week against a arizona team that can run
- 2:40Speaker 1: i mean run run run run and so uh that'll
- 2:43Speaker 1: be an interesting game. But yeah, I mean, when you
- 2:45Speaker 1: start looking at the national picture, you and I talked
- 2:47Speaker 1: about this off air, so we'll bring it up. I
- 2:49Speaker 1: think it's going to be interesting to watch, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: we're here we are in propaganda season with all of
- 2:53Speaker 1: the things going on in the election cycle. And you
- 2:58Speaker 1: look up and you've got eight, you've got sec and
- 3:01Speaker 1: big 10 that are going to be trying to figure
- 3:02Speaker 1: out how can we get in the most teams we
- 3:04Speaker 1: can possibly get into the college football playoff. And you're
- 3:07Speaker 1: looking at, they're going to have to start doing some
- 3:09Speaker 1: campaigning to make sure these nine and three and Maybe
- 3:12Speaker 1: even some 8-4 teams get in. And, again, I'm not
- 3:15Speaker 1: against it. I'm here to tell you that I want
- 3:17Speaker 1: the best teams in the tournament. There's not two group
- 3:20Speaker 1: of five teams that deserve to be in the tournament
- 3:22Speaker 1: this year.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely not.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Like, if you put that Boise State team, like, stuck
- 3:29Speaker 1: around with that Oregon team, and that Oregon team's not
- 3:32Speaker 1: very good. But, I mean, you put New Mexico out
- 3:35Speaker 1: there against anybody, and they can't come from behind. If
- 3:38Speaker 1: they're down by 14 points, that team can't come back.
- 3:40Speaker 2: No.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And there's not really another group of five team that's
- 3:44Speaker 1: just shining. It's like, hey, come over here and play.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Well, that loss for JMU last week was gigantic. I mean,
- 3:52Speaker 2: that was big. But you watch this, and does anybody
- 3:56Speaker 2: that watches college sports really think that JMU is one
- 4:02Speaker 2: of the best 12 teams in America? No. So let's
- 4:04Speaker 2: get– Even if they hadn't lost, I don't care if
- 4:08Speaker 2: they'd have gone 12-0. They weren't one of the best
- 4:10Speaker 2: teams in America. Let's get teams in there that matter.
- 4:13Speaker 2: It's a fun story. Everybody has in their mind that, oh,
- 4:19Speaker 2: we're going back to the NCAA tournament days. Well, the
- 4:23Speaker 2: NCAA tournament doesn't even have upsets anymore. These teams can't
- 4:27Speaker 2: compete with the very best teams in America, especially when
- 4:31Speaker 2: they're prepared to play. Let's just be real and let's
- 4:34Speaker 2: get the best 24 teams. This is not everybody gets
- 4:37Speaker 2: a trophy as much as all these liberal ass sports
- 4:40Speaker 2: writers want to make it that way. It isn't. Let's
- 4:43Speaker 2: get the best teams. Let's give me the 12 best teams.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I will say this on Boise. I'm not positive. They
- 4:49Speaker 2: may not be. They look good. They've won in some
- 4:51Speaker 2: bad spots. They've covered numbers and some tough spots. You know,
- 4:56Speaker 2: like this week, I love them. I think I think
- 4:58Speaker 2: they're going to put wood to Texas State. Boise may
- 5:02Speaker 2: be a good team. They're a great story, obviously. But
- 5:06Speaker 2: they're going on to a point where you really have
- 5:09Speaker 2: to consider them starting to be a brand. And I understand,
- 5:14Speaker 2: certainly not on the level of the true brands of
- 5:17Speaker 2: our sport. But Boise's been winning and beating people for
- 5:20Speaker 2: long enough and being competitive for long enough that for me,
- 5:23Speaker 2: they get the benefit of the doubt. And oh, by
- 5:25Speaker 2: the way, they're the only team that's gone to the
- 5:27Speaker 2: playoff and had a chance to win and didn't get
- 5:29Speaker 2: the shit kicked out of them.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Well, and let's flip it around, too, real quick. We're
- 5:34Speaker 1: kind of all over on this open, but that's fine.
- 5:37Speaker 1: That's kind of where the college football season is going. Texas,
- 5:40Speaker 1: you know, we talked about it two weeks ago. Was
- 5:42Speaker 1: Sark going to get Sark fired or was Arch going
- 5:44Speaker 1: to get Sark fired? And they may be a package deal.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You know, they float the idea of the media, hey,
- 5:50Speaker 1: we're letting the backup play. They leave him in last
- 5:54Speaker 1: week and they win the game against Ole Miss. I mean,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and everybody, I shouldn't say everybody, I mean, that was
- 6:00Speaker 1: the sexiest underdog last week was Ole Miss. It's like,
- 6:03Speaker 1: why are they the underdog? Wrong team favored. Anytime you
- 6:06Speaker 1: hear wrong team favored, you need to go back to
- 6:08Speaker 1: the other side of the game because obviously no one
- 6:10Speaker 1: knows what they're talking about. But you've got a Texas team,
- 6:13Speaker 1: wounded dog, and they still have a path to get
- 6:17Speaker 1: in because say what you want to, they've got the
- 6:20Speaker 1: best non-conference win ever. In the country, in my opinion.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Oh, no question. With Ohio State, no doubt about it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: If Ohio State continues to win, especially with a backup quarterback,
- 6:33Speaker 2: that win just continues to look better and better. Ohio
- 6:36Speaker 2: State's a 10-2 football. Hell, even 9-3, they're going to
- 6:40Speaker 2: get in with a backup quarterback and a loss to Texas.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I guarantee you they do.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But a 9-3 Texas with losses to Florida, Ole Miss–
- 6:52Speaker 1: It's Florida, Oklahoma, and LSU I think gets in.
- 6:54Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And then you go back and figure out, okay, what
- 6:59Speaker 1: are you going to do? Now, I will say this too, though,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and I've knocked this game day environment for a while.
- 7:04Speaker 1: The game day environment in Austin last week I thought
- 7:06Speaker 1: was great.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I did too. And look, did you watch the feed?
- 7:11Speaker 2: ABC is different than everybody else on like on direct TV.
- 7:15Speaker 2: They give you the chance to get when you go
- 7:18Speaker 2: to the high def version and it stays in the
- 7:20Speaker 2: stadium on, on ABC, everybody else you see commercials, but
- 7:24Speaker 2: you don't, you, I thought their in-stadium environment was fabulous.
- 7:29Speaker 2: When you're away from commercial, you're not seeing it. Lights
- 7:32Speaker 2: are out. They're doing some stuff with the lighting and
- 7:34Speaker 2: playing all kinds of stuff on the things. The fans
- 7:37Speaker 2: are showing their lights on their phones and things like that.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I thought it was outstanding. I really did think, boy,
- 7:43Speaker 2: Texas is taking a step forward. That is not the
- 7:47Speaker 2: Austin I have participated in several times. I think there's
- 7:52Speaker 2: a lot of teams out there. If you're looking at Mark,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you something. When you get to playoff,
- 7:58Speaker 2: everybody needs to hear me. You better hope Lane Kiffin
- 8:00Speaker 2: doesn't get in. They're the only team in college football
- 8:05Speaker 2: that I feel like is getting better every time they
- 8:07Speaker 2: go out. They blew it. There's no way in hell
- 8:11Speaker 2: he punts again ever. I feel sorry for anybody that's
- 8:14Speaker 2: got the lead. There's no way he punts again like
- 8:18Speaker 2: he punted against– Kentucky. He knew he blew that game.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Won't do it again. I just feel like that team's
- 8:24Speaker 2: getting better. And now that they got trade as greenback,
- 8:27Speaker 2: that's a different football team. That guy is a problem.
- 8:30Speaker 2: He is a problem trying to cover and you got
- 8:34Speaker 2: a game plan for him and they can run the football.
- 8:37Speaker 2: This is the first time LSU has been able to
- 8:38Speaker 2: run the football in a decade. It feels like, I mean,
- 8:42Speaker 2: it does feel like since like 2019, they were so
- 8:46Speaker 2: they struggled running the football so much under Kelly and,
- 8:49Speaker 2: And it's amazing because there's so much talent in Louisiana.
- 8:52Speaker 2: You think you could go find somebody to run the
- 8:54Speaker 2: dead gum football, but the, they were not able to
- 8:58Speaker 2: do it. I think Kiffin's got this team trending in
- 9:01Speaker 2: the right direction. He has got, he's gotten more out
- 9:05Speaker 2: of this quarterback and say what you want about him. Uh,
- 9:09Speaker 2: you know, I, there's times I go through that there's
- 9:11Speaker 2: things I laugh about and think he's funny because he's
- 9:14Speaker 2: tweaking everybody. But at the end of the day, do
- 9:16Speaker 2: I think he's a good dude? No, I don't think
- 9:18Speaker 2: he's a good dude, but he's a great football coach.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And what he is is a great developer of quarterbacks
- 9:25Speaker 2: because you can say whatever you want to say. We
- 9:27Speaker 2: got a, we got a laundry list of them. Now
- 9:29Speaker 2: what he did with dart, but, but before dart, what
- 9:32Speaker 2: he did with the guy before dart, um, What was
- 9:36Speaker 2: that guy's name? Oh, God, why am I forgetting? It
- 9:39Speaker 2: went to the Panthers. That guy had no business getting drafted.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And yet he had made him a quarterback. And here
- 9:45Speaker 2: he comes with Sam Leavitt again. Leavitt's more accurate with
- 9:48Speaker 2: the football. He's always been a great athlete. But he's
- 9:51Speaker 2: learning how to play quarterback, which is different. He's still
- 9:54Speaker 2: a huge problem with his legs. But guess what the
- 9:57Speaker 2: best quarterbacks in NFL are a problem with their legs.
- 10:00Speaker 2: He's going to end up making Sam Levitt some money,
- 10:03Speaker 2: a ton of money. And because this quarterback class has
- 10:06Speaker 2: fallen apart and it's just not very good at the top.
- 10:10Speaker 2: So you don't want to play the Tigers. That's my opinion.
- 10:12Speaker 2: You look at who's trending. I think they are trending up.
- 10:15Speaker 2: They still got a really tough schedule down the stretch.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Still got Bama. Still got Texas. You know, they've got–
- 10:21Speaker 2: I mean, obviously, they're going to end up 8-4 and
- 10:24Speaker 2: not make the playoff at all. But if they do,
- 10:26Speaker 2: you better look out. This team's going in the right direction.
- 10:31Speaker 1: No, I totally agree with you there. It is one
- 10:33Speaker 1: of the trending teams that I've found. And so, I'm
- 10:36Speaker 1: going to– that's one of the teams that I think
- 10:37Speaker 1: you really need to keep your eye on coming home.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Because if they get through this next stretch with Bama, Texas,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and Tennessee, then they finish with Arkansas. And if they
- 10:46Speaker 1: get through their 3-1– They're in. And if they get
- 10:51Speaker 1: through 4-0, they're going to have the confidence of King David,
- 10:54Speaker 1: Old Testament style.
- 10:55Speaker 2: If they go 4-0 through that mark, they're going to
- 10:58Speaker 2: get a bye. Probably.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You imagine having to play a home game at Tiger Stadium?
- 11:02Speaker 2: Let me tell you what's possible. Can you imagine them
- 11:05Speaker 2: and Ole Miss rematching in the South District Conference Championship?
- 11:08Speaker 2: Because that is possible. Everybody knows I don't want Ole
- 11:12Speaker 2: Miss going just because it's been great because it's going
- 11:14Speaker 2: to go away next year. And to say that they
- 11:16Speaker 2: never went will be awesome as a Mississippi State fan
- 11:19Speaker 2: because it will drive them nuts. But– That would be
- 11:23Speaker 2: great theater. How could you not want to watch that
- 11:26Speaker 2: game again? The way it ended and the way those
- 11:29Speaker 2: Ole Miss kids treated him, there's going to be grit
- 11:32Speaker 2: in his teeth. Oh, that'll be a fabulous game and
- 11:37Speaker 2: a fabulous environment to send out the SEC championship on.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I don't know if it'll happen because both of them
- 11:43Speaker 2: play games they can lose. There's a lot to go on,
- 11:46Speaker 2: but I think if both went out, they're certainly going
- 11:50Speaker 2: to be right there. to have a chance for a rematch.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Oh, boy. College football. It never ceases to amaze. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: you look up this week and you've got more storylines
- 11:59Speaker 1: that come along. So, like I said, I'm for more product.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm for better product on the field. I'm kind of
- 12:05Speaker 1: of the opinion if we're going to go to a
- 12:07Speaker 1: 2014 playoff, I'm all for getting like an 18 group
- 12:10Speaker 1: of five playoff put together. We too.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Why in the world is nobody talking about this? Why
- 12:17Speaker 2: is nobody saying let's take– the group of five and
- 12:22Speaker 2: put them in their own playoff.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I would totally.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Cause you could absolutely do like an 18 playoff with them.
- 12:29Speaker 2: If the best group of five, cause here's the thing,
- 12:32Speaker 2: the best group of five is generally going to be
- 12:34Speaker 2: ranked in the top 24. Sure. Generally. So he's going
- 12:39Speaker 2: to qualify anyway. If we're doing this the right way,
- 12:42Speaker 2: it's going to end up being the top 24 teams.
- 12:44Speaker 2: That's what it should be. No automatic qualifiers. Get your
- 12:48Speaker 2: ass in the top 25. That's what needs to happen.
- 12:51Speaker 2: If that's the case, let's take the next best eight,
- 12:55Speaker 2: or in some years it'll be next, you know, they
- 12:59Speaker 2: may get two playoff teams, and then we get the
- 13:03Speaker 2: whole top ten, the best ten teams in that. Do
- 13:06Speaker 2: you know how much fun it would be to watch
- 13:08Speaker 2: some of those teams? I have no desire to watch
- 13:11Speaker 2: New Mexico play Ole Miss. I don't. But I think
- 13:16Speaker 2: it'd be a ton of fun to watch New Mexico
- 13:19Speaker 2: play JMU. I think that game's fun to watch. Wazoo
- 13:25Speaker 2: and New Mexico. Just some fun games throughout the year
- 13:32Speaker 2: would be great to watch. Oh, yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Totally agree with you. All right, Scotty. Had a good
- 13:37Speaker 1: week last week. Let's see if we can keep the
- 13:39Speaker 1: momentum going. I don't necessarily love this board like I
- 13:42Speaker 1: did last week's board, but I think we can find
- 13:45Speaker 1: some nuggets in there. As we record this, it's Wednesday afternoon,
- 13:49Speaker 1: just after 12 o'clock. I don't have anything on the
- 13:52Speaker 1: CUSA games on Wednesday, but I can get involved in
- 13:55Speaker 1: some Sun Belt Billy on the bounce back. Last week,
- 13:59Speaker 1: this is a team that lost to Appalachian State. They
- 14:02Speaker 1: kept flashing back to that old FCS game that they
- 14:06Speaker 1: played a long time ago. App State got the big
- 14:10Speaker 1: upset win. Matching up this week, James Madison's laying 21,
- 14:13Speaker 1: overrunners 49 and a half. Playing a Troy team, Troy
- 14:18Speaker 1: team is rough. They're three and four straight up, but
- 14:20Speaker 1: they're two and five to cover on this one and
- 14:23Speaker 1: one and six to the under. Their rush defense is bad.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's really, really bad. They're averaging up, giving them 220
- 14:30Speaker 1: yards per game once they've gotten matched up in these spots.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I think James Madison is just going to line up
- 14:35Speaker 1: and just run over this team. And I think it'll
- 14:37Speaker 1: wear them down pretty quick, cover the 21. Give me
- 14:40Speaker 1: James Madison minus 21 to get my week started on
- 14:43Speaker 1: Thursday night.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Yeah, my book's got it 20 and a half like
- 14:46Speaker 2: this line as well. But, Mark, wait a minute. You're
- 14:50Speaker 2: telling me you don't want to bet over 78? And
- 14:56Speaker 2: the over under of North Texas and Florida, Atlanta, 78
- 15:00Speaker 2: and a half. We've said this a hundred times every
- 15:04Speaker 2: time there's a number that big. Don't you have to
- 15:07Speaker 2: bet it? But don't you have to also think about
- 15:09Speaker 2: a first half under?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 15:11Speaker 2: That is so many points. Hell, you say five's your number.
- 15:15Speaker 2: That's five touchdowns. Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 1: They have to score it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Well, six touchdowns. That's right. Yep. In the first half.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So look, there's also a lot of these games. They
- 15:27Speaker 2: they get started a little slow and then it's a
- 15:29Speaker 2: scorefest second half. I simply am going to take this
- 15:33Speaker 2: just because I want to see him go over 78
- 15:37Speaker 2: and a half. This is a gigantic number. No, this
- 15:41Speaker 2: is not an official play, but come on. Don't we
- 15:43Speaker 2: have to just take a little piece of money on
- 15:46Speaker 2: 78 and a half on Thursday night?
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm going to do you one better, Scott. I'm going
- 15:50Speaker 1: to take a parlay. I'm going to take 78 and
- 15:54Speaker 1: a half. I'll call it 78 because I got 77
- 15:57Speaker 1: in my book on the North Texas game. And then
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'm going to go down to the Iowa-Wisconsin game, which
- 16:04Speaker 1: is the lowest total on the board at 38 and
- 16:06Speaker 1: a half or somewhere in there. I'm parlaying those together
- 16:09Speaker 1: for $ 50, and then on the other $ 50, I'm going
- 16:12Speaker 1: to hedge out a teaser on totals. Maybe not a
- 16:16Speaker 1: common bet that most people use is teasing college football totals,
- 16:20Speaker 1: but just trying to add myself a little more value there.
- 16:22Speaker 1: That's how I'm going to split up 100 just to
- 16:24Speaker 1: get myself involved. That's one of the grosser– I thought.
- 16:27Speaker 2: You were going to tell me you were going to
- 16:28Speaker 2: give me a first half under and a game total over.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I may.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I may.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I may do that too. I don't even know if
- 16:36Speaker 1: I can do that. That may be too correlated if
- 16:38Speaker 1: I get that done. Give me James Madison, minus 20.5.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Staying right there in the weekday slate, Scott. Tulane at Charlotte.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Charlotte's getting 10 points. I don't know that Tulane covers this.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I mean, Charlotte may be getting a little bit better.
- 16:53Speaker 1: They're only giving up 40 points a game. You got
- 16:55Speaker 1: any action here?
- 16:56Speaker 2: I do not. But, man, how big of a mess
- 17:01Speaker 2: is Tulane? Will Hall struggling a little bit going back
- 17:04Speaker 2: to the place where he was the coordinator under Willie Fritz.
- 17:10Speaker 2: If I took this, I feel like you have to
- 17:12Speaker 2: take Tulane, man. Gosh, Charlotte is bad. They are bad.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Beat Temple. Oh, Baylor, UCF. This would be a great
- 17:21Speaker 1: spot to bet Baylor after last week's debacle. Baylor just
- 17:25Speaker 1: got their nuts ripped off in the Kansas game and
- 17:28Speaker 1: blew that one. UCF in the craziest ending you've ever
- 17:32Speaker 1: seen in the BYU game that's here. I hate this.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's on a short week, and they're playing at home.
- 17:38Speaker 2: They fired Dave Aranda just to rally the troops.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Probably the only way I would play this is I
- 17:45Speaker 1: wouldn't even take the 1.5. Just take better than the
- 17:46Speaker 1: money line. I may get there. I haven't decided yet.
- 17:50Speaker 2: If this game holds to form, you should get there.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Every time we've seen a big win, we've seen somebody
- 17:57Speaker 2: go out and play like dump. It was the whole
- 17:59Speaker 2: reason we took Central Florida last week. And doesn't it
- 18:03Speaker 2: feel like they're going to come do it again? I
- 18:05Speaker 2: think Baylor is every bit as talented as this football team. So, yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 2: I kind of like this play.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Give me the Bears. Let's put it on the board.
- 18:13Speaker 1: California traveling across the country to play NC State. Again,
- 18:18Speaker 1: new coaching problem that you've got in this spot. NC
- 18:21Speaker 1: State laying seven against a Cal team that seems like
- 18:24Speaker 1: an absolute mess. I might get involved in this. You
- 18:27Speaker 1: know what we should do, Scott? Let's do this. Three-game
- 18:29Speaker 1: Moneyline Parlay. Baylor, NC State, and I don't know if
- 18:34Speaker 1: I can do it. Do we take Maryland? Maryland? With
- 18:37Speaker 1: Mike Loxley getting fired and you kicking Spurton Field over there.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I mean, you make me better.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't matter who Maryland Institute does football coach
- 18:44Speaker 2: because I've not looked. There's no way he's as bad
- 18:46Speaker 2: as Mike Loxley. So they're probably upgrading. Oh, my God.
- 18:51Speaker 2: That is three ugly games. But you're right. If it
- 18:55Speaker 2: follows form, all three of them got a chance to
- 18:58Speaker 2: win the ball game. Fired coaches come back, baby.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Moving down. Duke laying seven against Boston College. Over under
- 19:07Speaker 1: here is 47 and a half. I'll tell you what, man.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Manny Diaz has done one heck of a good job
- 19:12Speaker 1: at Duke. I have not heard his name get floated
- 19:15Speaker 1: yet as somebody that might be able to– I saw
- 19:18Speaker 1: Brian Kelly's name get floated to go to Maryland. If
- 19:21Speaker 1: you hire Brian Kelly to go to Maryland, you are
- 19:24Speaker 1: about to send yourself into a death spiral of terrible
- 19:27Speaker 1: out there is my opinion. But Duke minus seven in
- 19:31Speaker 1: this game here. I'll tell you what, Boston College– Got
- 19:34Speaker 1: to be one of the more surprising teams to me
- 19:35Speaker 1: this season. I didn't expect this team to win four games.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Here they are sitting at four and three. They're five
- 19:39Speaker 1: and two to the number. They've kind of started to
- 19:42Speaker 1: figure some things out. You have any love for Duke
- 19:44Speaker 1: or BC in this one?
- 19:46Speaker 2: Man, I actually like Duke, but this number just feels
- 19:49Speaker 2: a little too... big for me. I feel like BC
- 19:52Speaker 2: may be able to stay within this number, but I
- 19:54Speaker 2: do love Duke. They, Diaz has done a good job.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And just think he had their, their immense approached from me,
- 20:02Speaker 2: had him under a two year contract. What's this team
- 20:05Speaker 2: like if they've got him back?
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yeah, no kidding. I'm serious.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Um, Could be interesting.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Notre Dame laying 30-and-a-half over under 56-and-a-half as they travel
- 20:14Speaker 1: to Navy. Unless this game is being played. Oh, nope,
- 20:18Speaker 1: never mind. This game is being played at Gillette Stadium.
- 20:21Speaker 1: So they're playing this game in the Boston area. Laying
- 20:24Speaker 1: 30-and-a-half here. I would take Navy plus 30-and-a-half. Here's why.
- 20:27Speaker 1: You've got Notre Dame on a dead look ahead against
- 20:30Speaker 1: Miami in this spot. They're going to limit the amount
- 20:33Speaker 1: of possessions they get because they run the ball. I
- 20:36Speaker 1: don't know what benefit you get from blowing out Navy.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I mean, Notre Dame has an exactly one-game season left,
- 20:43Speaker 1: and it is to beat Miami next week to assure
- 20:45Speaker 1: themselves that they get in. Give me Navy plus 30
- 20:48Speaker 1: and a half. Not my favorite play. I'm going to
- 20:50Speaker 1: throw a half a unit at this one.
- 20:52Speaker 2: I actually like this number. I think Navy is going
- 20:55Speaker 2: to stay within it because at the end of the day,
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'm going back to what your buddy said a couple
- 20:59Speaker 2: of weeks ago. They don't beat good teams, and they
- 21:01Speaker 2: certainly don't blow them out. This is the third-best team
- 21:04Speaker 2: on their schedule.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And they're 2-5. I understand.
- 21:09Speaker 2: This is probably the third best team on that schedule.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Notre Dame doesn't play anybody. And you're right, this is
- 21:16Speaker 2: a look ahead, but this is Navy's Super Bowl. And
- 21:20Speaker 2: this is a really, really big spot for them. I
- 21:23Speaker 2: think it does help them that it's in Gillette, meaning
- 21:26Speaker 2: helps Notre Dame that it's at Gillette. But I think
- 21:30Speaker 2: Navy's going to stay within this number. I think they're
- 21:32Speaker 2: good enough to stay within the number, but I also
- 21:34Speaker 2: believe that Notre Dame will not try to embarrass these guys.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Arizona, being Lubbock, early game Saturday morning, 11 o'clock kickoff
- 21:42Speaker 1: local time, 10 o'clock kickoff body time for the Arizona Wildcats.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Arizona's getting three and a half. Both these teams come
- 21:49Speaker 1: in here six and one. Fifty-four and a half is
- 21:52Speaker 1: the over-under on this one. Both these teams are three
- 21:54Speaker 1: and four against the spread. A couple things with me
- 21:57Speaker 1: on this one. I've watched Tech play every game this season.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I thought they were fugazi. I gave out ten and
- 22:02Speaker 1: a half last week. I thought they would rally the wagons.
- 22:05Speaker 1: They look like dog shit. I've said this every time
- 22:07Speaker 1: I've watched them. I have not seen the leadership on
- 22:11Speaker 1: this team yet step up. It's not from last year.
- 22:14Speaker 1: They couldn't trust the dogs that you've got. You've got
- 22:16Speaker 1: an Arizona team that can run and run and run.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And I also love the fact that Noah– how do
- 22:23Speaker 1: you say it? Papita, his brother, the quarterback's little brother,
- 22:28Speaker 1: is the outside linebacker. Bro's 5'7, just dart rushing the
- 22:32Speaker 1: whole time, just super blitzing, at 5'7. You can't find him.
- 22:35Speaker 1: He just sneaks through and just makes tackles. Give me Arizona,
- 22:38Speaker 1: plus 3.5. I think they're a live dog here. I
- 22:41Speaker 1: think the running game is going to give Texas Tech problems.
- 22:45Speaker 1: And I've not seen Texas Tech, even though they're scoring
- 22:49Speaker 1: 35 points a game, go back and look at it.
- 22:50Speaker 1: It's a lot of Fugazi in there. Give me Arizona,
- 22:53Speaker 1: plus 3.5. Totally think they're a live dog in this one.
- 22:57Speaker 2: I love it. I like this, too. Texas Tech was
- 23:00Speaker 2: disappointing last week. I did not expect them to lose,
- 23:05Speaker 2: certainly not get their doors blown off, but I was
- 23:08Speaker 2: not surprised by any stretch. It wouldn't have surprised me
- 23:12Speaker 2: at all that they didn't cover. Here comes an Arizona team.
- 23:15Speaker 2: They are a different team in Lubbock. This is a
- 23:18Speaker 2: short trip for Arizona. I really think they stay within
- 23:24Speaker 2: the number, and I think they are a live dog.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I think this game could go over to Arizona's defense
- 23:29Speaker 1: isn't great, but I like Arizona to give me the points. Wisconsin, Indiana,
- 23:34Speaker 1: excuse me, Wisconsin, Iowa, three and a half Iowa land
- 23:37Speaker 1: points at home. Lowest total, 36 and a half currently
- 23:40Speaker 1: as we sit here today. You got Wisconsin coming off
- 23:43Speaker 1: probably one of the biggest wins Luke Fickles had since
- 23:46Speaker 1: he's been there. I mean, he saved his job. He
- 23:48Speaker 1: was firmly getting fired coming into the season. He's turning
- 23:52Speaker 1: the truck around. He's five and two, comes in here
- 23:54Speaker 1: to an Iowa team. Iowa last week lost their running back.
- 23:58Speaker 1: They lost another player on the offensive line. If you're
- 24:01Speaker 1: going to go anywhere, I'm going under 36.5. It's just
- 24:04Speaker 1: the number's low. It's gross. Give me Iowa. They win
- 24:08Speaker 1: the game 3-2.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I love it. Sylvester Croon style. This is going to
- 24:14Speaker 2: be a really low-scoring game, but I think Iowa's going
- 24:16Speaker 2: to get this done and cover this number. I'll try
- 24:18Speaker 2: to buy this hook down to three, but I think
- 24:22Speaker 2: they win this game. This sets up for such a
- 24:24Speaker 2: flat spot for Wisconsin. Big, huge win. Going on the
- 24:29Speaker 2: road to a good football team. Just does not look good.
- 24:36Speaker 2: And Iowa has to win. I mean, they really need
- 24:39Speaker 2: a win.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Michigan Rutgers, you got anything there?
- 24:43Speaker 2: Line's 14. Yeah. Man, you're talking about an ugly game.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I think it'll probably stay within the number. Fascinated to
- 24:49Speaker 2: see what Michigan does at quarterback. Rotating quarterbacks isn't going
- 24:53Speaker 2: to work, boys. You need to decide what you want.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 24:56Speaker 1: They're rotating anymore. I think they're done. I think they're
- 24:58Speaker 1: going to car.
- 24:59Speaker 2: I think they are now, but at the end of
- 25:03Speaker 2: the day, Underwood's gone, and he's going to find greener pastures.
- 25:08Speaker 2: The question is, does Kiffin even want him?
- 25:14Speaker 1: I don't know. I was impressed with Underwood last week
- 25:18Speaker 1: when the game ended, the first player off the bench
- 25:20Speaker 1: to grab a card, give him a hug and congratulate
- 25:22Speaker 1: him was Underwood.
- 25:23Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And, you know, so I'm not going to throw.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Shade on the kid. I'm telling you, he was outstanding
- 25:27Speaker 2: when they pulled him two weeks ago. That kid's taking
- 25:30Speaker 2: a step forward. And he's not going to have any
- 25:34Speaker 2: problem finding a coach to take an opportunity on him.
- 25:39Speaker 2: He's got too much upside. But, no, I do not
- 25:41Speaker 2: have anything on this game.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Ole Miss hosting in the weird SEC. We want to
- 25:46Speaker 1: be the only game on at 1145 time slot. On
- 25:50Speaker 1: the SEC network, laying 13.5 to an Auburn team. Over
- 25:54Speaker 1: under here is 57.5. I think if Auburn's got a
- 25:58Speaker 1: chance to maintain a winning record for the season, this
- 26:01Speaker 1: is kind of a game they really need to win.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Looking at this schedule with Ole Miss, Ole Miss is 5-2.
- 26:09Speaker 1: You're kind of on the point where can they lose
- 26:10Speaker 1: anymore and still make the playoffs? They're laying 13.5. Game
- 26:14Speaker 1: that they played against Texas last week, Came down to it.
- 26:17Speaker 1: They fought all the way back in that one. You
- 26:19Speaker 1: think Ole Miss can cover 13 and a half here?
- 26:23Speaker 2: The only reason I think they'll cover 13 and a
- 26:25Speaker 2: half is because this line, the first time I saw
- 26:27Speaker 2: it was, holy smokes, this looks like too much. And
- 26:30Speaker 2: that's probably because I've got SEC bias and I've been
- 26:33Speaker 2: watching football for too much. This ain't remotely the same
- 26:36Speaker 2: Auburn team. They're a one-trick pony. I mean, hell, they
- 26:42Speaker 2: got the hell beat out of them last week, and
- 26:44Speaker 2: Brown had an 80-yard touchdown run or whatever. They can't
- 26:48Speaker 2: do anything if he can't run the ball. I think
- 26:50Speaker 2: the Rebels figure out how to stop him from running
- 26:52Speaker 2: the football. I think the Rebels have a heyday. They'll
- 26:55Speaker 2: get him out on the edge. It was interesting watching
- 26:58Speaker 2: Texas just keep Trinidad Chambliss in the box and knock
- 27:01Speaker 2: down passes all day long. Now, look, they've also got
- 27:04Speaker 2: dudes on the defensive line that the average bear doesn't have,
- 27:09Speaker 2: and they're gigantic. So not everybody can follow that same
- 27:12Speaker 2: game plan, but I think you are going to see
- 27:14Speaker 2: more and more teams try to do that. But I
- 27:17Speaker 2: think that also leads to guys running wide open for
- 27:20Speaker 2: Ole Miss because this team's not nearly as talented as
- 27:23Speaker 2: that Texas defense.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Florida, Georgia, world's largest cocktail party now being held inside in.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Atlanta.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Florida's getting 11 and a half here. You look at
- 27:34Speaker 1: this line, man, and you kind of want to jump
- 27:36Speaker 1: on the Florida plane and just say, can we stay
- 27:39Speaker 1: within the number and what we get here? But I
- 27:41Speaker 1: think for Florida to stay within this number, It's going
- 27:44Speaker 1: to take some explosive plays. I really do believe that
- 27:47Speaker 1: because I think Georgia is going to kind of grind
- 27:49Speaker 1: this game down into something that's manageable for them. I
- 27:53Speaker 1: like Georgia here, but I got no play.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Well, again, I think this is the same thing as
- 27:59Speaker 2: an Ole Miss line. You look at it and you
- 28:01Speaker 2: want to take Florida plus 11 and a half. I
- 28:04Speaker 2: guess exactly what the books are wanting you to do.
- 28:07Speaker 2: At the end of the day, this team has to
- 28:09Speaker 2: run the football. They have to. Are they really going
- 28:13Speaker 2: to be able to do that against this Georgia defense?
- 28:15Speaker 2: I don't think so. As bad as Georgia looked a
- 28:18Speaker 2: couple of weeks ago against Auburn, I think they've had
- 28:21Speaker 2: a week off to get their mind right. I think
- 28:23Speaker 2: they come out, play with some swagger. It's basically a
- 28:26Speaker 2: home game, which let me lament for a moment that
- 28:29Speaker 2: I hate that it's not in Jacksonville and the cocktail party.
- 28:32Speaker 2: And I know why they moved it, but still. I
- 28:36Speaker 2: still just miss it. I miss tradition in some of
- 28:39Speaker 2: these sports. Plus, I hate that I never got to
- 28:42Speaker 2: go to that game in Jacksonville. So, it's a whole
- 28:45Speaker 2: different deal. But it does feel like, much like the
- 28:48Speaker 2: Ole Miss line, I think Georgia's probably going to cover this.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Minnesota getting 20-and-a-half, going to Indiana, 41-and-a-half is the over-under
- 28:57Speaker 1: on this. Minnesota's 5-and-2. I mean, don't look now. They
- 29:00Speaker 1: win this game, and they've kind of written their truck
- 29:03Speaker 1: to get to it. Oh, and P.J. Fleck is just
- 29:08Speaker 1: collecting all the Big Ten trophies. He's got the jug.
- 29:11Speaker 1: He's got the pig.
- 29:12Speaker 2: It's the first time since 1978 they've had those three
- 29:16Speaker 2: trophies they've got for what is it, Iowa, Michigan?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that they've got all three of those trophies. I
- 29:23Speaker 2: read that this week.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I knew that last week after going into it because
- 29:27Speaker 1: I was with a Big Ten fan watching the game. Anyway,
- 29:30Speaker 1: I got to think that this is probably going to
- 29:31Speaker 1: be the sexy underdog of the week, getting 20 and
- 29:34Speaker 1: a half at Indiana. Now, Indiana is one in seven
- 29:37Speaker 1: against the number. And the reason I bring this up
- 29:39Speaker 1: is we got to– so used to watching Indiana last
- 29:42Speaker 1: two years, just gas can teams. They haven't been able
- 29:45Speaker 1: to do that this year. And I am convinced now,
- 29:49Speaker 1: having watched this team play multiple times, that he is
- 29:52Speaker 1: not going to let Hoover lose a game. He is
- 29:55Speaker 1: more worried about Hoover losing a game than he is
- 29:57Speaker 1: going to give him the keys to win the game.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Because when you've got Becker and Marsh out there on
- 30:01Speaker 1: the outside, those guys are two NFL wide receivers. And
- 30:06Speaker 1: most college teams don't have enough scheme or anything to
- 30:08Speaker 1: cover them here.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Well, and this defense is so good. Yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 1: And that's where he's going to rely on it. But
- 30:14Speaker 1: I think it's baked into this number. Indiana is getting
- 30:17Speaker 1: 20 and a half. I think it's sexy dog of
- 30:19Speaker 1: the week. I don't know if I can get there.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I got no play on it yet. I feel like
- 30:23Speaker 1: I'm going to end up with an Indiana ticket, but
- 30:25Speaker 1: I haven't gotten home yet.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Well, you take Indiana. I'll be on the opposite side
- 30:28Speaker 2: of you. I'm going to take the row of your
- 30:30Speaker 2: boats plus 20 and a half. I just think the
- 30:33Speaker 2: number is too big.
- 30:34Speaker 1: It is big.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Are you really going to tell me that you're stunned
- 30:38Speaker 2: if Minnesota wins this game? No. Because I'm not. At all.
- 30:41Speaker 2: And with that over-under, all it takes is one turnover
- 30:45Speaker 2: or something crazy to happen, and boom, they got an
- 30:48Speaker 2: experienced quarterback. I think they stay within this number. But again,
- 30:52Speaker 2: this is just like... The other two games we've talked about,
- 30:56Speaker 2: this number looks so wonky that you're like, oh, this
- 31:00Speaker 2: is obvious. Well, that probably means you ought to take
- 31:02Speaker 2: the other side of it. But I'm going to get
- 31:04Speaker 2: suckered in because I like P.J. Fleck. Plus, this is
- 31:08Speaker 2: also just helping me out with the loss of Kamario Taylor.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I want them to keep winning because it just continues
- 31:14Speaker 2: to say how good of a football team Mississippi State
- 31:16Speaker 2: was going to be had the kids stayed healthy. Oh, man.
- 31:19Speaker 1: A couple other games you got around here. Northwestern traveling
- 31:22Speaker 1: out to Oregon. Line here is three and a half. Northwestern, again,
- 31:26Speaker 1: six and one, sitting right up there at the top
- 31:28Speaker 1: of the Big Ten and where they're at, five and
- 31:30Speaker 1: two against the number. This is an exciting offense. Aiden
- 31:33Speaker 1: Childs is in here, obviously transferred over to Morgan State,
- 31:36Speaker 1: ended up over here after going to Michigan State for
- 31:39Speaker 1: a couple of years with the coach. Now he's got
- 31:41Speaker 1: Chip Kelly calling the plays. Offense is creative. I think
- 31:45Speaker 1: Chip Kelly, if he wants to be an offensive coordinator
- 31:47Speaker 1: next year, He's probably going to get the opportunity to
- 31:50Speaker 1: do it. I love what they're doing. Oregon team, Dante
- 31:53Speaker 1: Moore's coming out. He's out for the rest of the season.
- 31:55Speaker 1: They've got a couple of other injuries now that they've lost.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I'm assuming they're going to go with Dylan Riola again
- 31:59Speaker 1: this week, but I haven't looked at it that closely
- 32:02Speaker 1: because they've been going back and forth on the quarterbacks.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I don't know how much they got left in the
- 32:08Speaker 1: tank at Oregon because you've got to think these guys
- 32:11Speaker 1: came back to try to win the whole thing. And
- 32:13Speaker 1: this season has just been a disaster. They're laying three
- 32:17Speaker 1: and a half. Give me Northwestern. I'm going to call
- 32:19Speaker 1: it on the road. Get the win outright at Autzen.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I love it. You're going upset. I love it. All right.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I'll take I'll take I'll ride with you on that.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Oh, yes. Scotty, where's the next game you got on
- 32:33Speaker 1: your board that you're looking at here? I'm scrolling through
- 32:35Speaker 1: a couple more.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Give me. Boise, baby. I love this line. Probably my
- 32:40Speaker 2: favorite line of the week. This team went on the road.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I bet against them last week. They burned me. They
- 32:45Speaker 2: just keep dominating people. They just keep doing it. They
- 32:49Speaker 2: figure out how to do it. I think they get
- 32:51Speaker 2: Texas State at home. It is always tough to go
- 32:54Speaker 2: to Boise. The blue turf will be rocking. Give me
- 32:57Speaker 2: Boise laying ten and a half. I think they win
- 32:59Speaker 2: this game by three touchdowns. Nice.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I like where you're headed there. Clemson getting six points
- 33:06Speaker 1: at Florida State. This is a primetime game that I
- 33:10Speaker 1: think will be very lightly watched. Boy, these teams have
- 33:13Speaker 1: fallen off. But if Florida State pulls this off, number one,
- 33:17Speaker 1: I think it saves Norvell's job. But number two is
- 33:21Speaker 1: you've got to start thinking it's time for Dabo to go.
- 33:24Speaker 1: But they're getting six points coming into this game. I
- 33:26Speaker 1: don't know how good this team is. I'm going to pass.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I've got no action here. I just don't know. I
- 33:31Speaker 1: would lean Florida State, but I don't want to lay
- 33:33Speaker 1: six points with them. Do you have any play here?
- 33:36Speaker 2: Man, you feel like Florida State is just locked for dead.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I know their entire fan base is just miserable they
- 33:42Speaker 2: can't fire him. Because they're probably not going to fire
- 33:44Speaker 2: him again this year because they still owe him so
- 33:46Speaker 2: much money.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 2: It is wild to me that they basically just mailed
- 33:52Speaker 2: it in on the staff. But here they are with
- 33:55Speaker 2: a chance to win their favorite at home against Clemson.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I think if you'd have told their whole fan base, hey,
- 34:01Speaker 2: you're going to be six and a half point favorites
- 34:02Speaker 2: at home against Clemson at the end of October, they'd
- 34:06Speaker 2: have been like, oh, great, we're going to have a
- 34:07Speaker 2: chance to make the playoff. That's not the case for
- 34:11Speaker 2: either one of these teams. But wow, how far they
- 34:15Speaker 2: have fallen. And it's really, to me, Mark, it's at
- 34:18Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage. That really is where Clemson has
- 34:21Speaker 2: fallen off as offensive and defensive lines aren't remotely close
- 34:26Speaker 2: to what they were. Is it coaching? Cause they've lost
- 34:29Speaker 2: a lot of coaching. Those are great. Those are great
- 34:31Speaker 2: things to wonder. No head coach is great on his own.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Every time you look at a, at a great program
- 34:37Speaker 2: and you can do this going back to years, you
- 34:39Speaker 2: go look at a coaching staff and you see a
- 34:42Speaker 2: team that really makes a run and they go through
- 34:46Speaker 2: a legendary run and you're going to look at that
- 34:48Speaker 2: coaching staff and there's going to be some fabulous coaches
- 34:52Speaker 2: on the staff every time. I mean, it, it, it's
- 34:56Speaker 2: amazing how much you can do it. And, and I
- 35:00Speaker 2: think that may be the case with them is that that,
- 35:03Speaker 2: that Dabo has lost it or is it that they're
- 35:06Speaker 2: just simply not as good of a staff as they
- 35:09Speaker 2: used to be? I think that's a legitimate question. I
- 35:12Speaker 2: really do. I hate it for Clemson fans because that's
- 35:16Speaker 2: such a great environment when they're good, but this just
- 35:19Speaker 2: isn't the same team, the same program. There's going to
- 35:21Speaker 2: be a lot of calls for Dabo to step down,
- 35:24Speaker 2: Willie leave, you know, et cetera. It's boy, this is,
- 35:30Speaker 2: You know why we're going 24 teams, and I say
- 35:32Speaker 2: this all the time. It has nothing to do with
- 35:36Speaker 2: that they think it's good for college football. This is
- 35:38Speaker 2: about saving people's jobs and spending less money firing coaches
- 35:44Speaker 2: and firing athletic directors. That's all this is about. Yeah,
- 35:47Speaker 2: it's going to bring in more money for the schools,
- 35:49Speaker 2: but it's going to save their ass a hell of
- 35:51Speaker 2: a lot more than they're going to make.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I would agree with you there. I have no–
- 35:56Speaker 1: I mean– I don't know. Got nothing there. One game
- 36:00Speaker 1: I do like in the ACC, North Carolina at home
- 36:03Speaker 1: hosting Miami. This is, again, primetime game, ABC. Bill Belichick,
- 36:09Speaker 1: they lose last week to Syracuse. You're giving them 14
- 36:12Speaker 1: points here, over-unders 52.5. North Carolina team's kind of a
- 36:16Speaker 1: hard watch. I love Miami. I'm still on Miami. I
- 36:20Speaker 1: got a Miami LSU. I think Miami LSU is kind
- 36:23Speaker 1: of going for the national championship here. Miami's got to
- 36:27Speaker 1: look ahead. They got Notre Dame in front of them.
- 36:29Speaker 1: We already talked about this in the Navy game earlier.
- 36:32Speaker 1: You got Miami on the road in this one. Give
- 36:34Speaker 1: me North Carolina plus 14. This team's been pretty good
- 36:37Speaker 1: against the number. And so the teams when they've been underdogs,
- 36:40Speaker 1: they've covered. So give me North Carolina plus 14. I
- 36:44Speaker 1: think they stay within this number here. And I don't
- 36:47Speaker 1: know how much Miami wants to blow these guys out.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Give me 14 points and I'll take it.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Marky, I got a couple for you.
- 36:52Speaker 1: All right.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Give me SC as in South Carolina SC plus four
- 36:57Speaker 2: and a half at Notre Dame at Oklahoma. That Oklahoma
- 37:01Speaker 2: team's just not very good. I watched them with the
- 37:03Speaker 2: Bulldogs last week. State's a mess without Kamario Taylor, and
- 37:06Speaker 2: yet there they were in the fourth quarter with a
- 37:09Speaker 2: chance to win that ball game. Yes, Oklahoma missed a
- 37:12Speaker 2: couple of field goals. Probably won't happen because he is
- 37:16Speaker 2: a really good kicker, even though he struggled a little
- 37:18Speaker 2: bit this year after winning the Lou Groza last year.
- 37:20Speaker 2: But he's still a talented player. But at the end
- 37:22Speaker 2: of the day, no Kamario Taylor. Oklahoma ought to be
- 37:25Speaker 2: blowing those guys' doors off. They suck on defense. I mean, Mateer, yeah, everybody, oh,
- 37:31Speaker 2: he threw for 300 yards. State was playing bend, don't break.
- 37:34Speaker 2: And guess what? They never broke. They didn't get those
- 37:38Speaker 2: long touchdowns, and there they were with a chance to
- 37:40Speaker 2: win the ball game. I think a healthy Lenore Sellers
- 37:43Speaker 2: is going to be able to do enough against this
- 37:45Speaker 2: defense to cover and possibly win in Norman. And every
- 37:51Speaker 2: fan in Columbia, if they win these last two games back-to-back,
- 37:55Speaker 2: is going to be pissed off because there's going to
- 37:57Speaker 2: be a guy who saved his job.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I think, I honestly think, and I thought this would happen,
- 38:03Speaker 1: and I've kind of watched it. I've only met him
- 38:05Speaker 1: a couple of times. I think Lenore Sellers has gotten
- 38:07Speaker 1: comfortable in Kendall Brow's offense, and I think they've become
- 38:10Speaker 1: comfortable with each other as the season's gone, and it's improving.
- 38:14Speaker 1: And so, yeah, this roster, I mean, keep in mind
- 38:16Speaker 1: a couple weeks ago his best defensive player hit somebody
- 38:18Speaker 1: in the face, you know, and got suspended for a game.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I mean, it looks like they've kind of started. If
- 38:23Speaker 1: you win here, they've got this thing back on the rails,
- 38:26Speaker 1: and it's another Clemson matchup at the end of the
- 38:28Speaker 1: season that you're going to have with the squad. So
- 38:30Speaker 1: I don't know. It's interesting.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Hold on, before we get off to South Carolina, I
- 38:36Speaker 2: will say this. Mississippi State fans, if you've been watching
- 38:42Speaker 2: the internet at all, there are people that want to
- 38:44Speaker 2: fire Jeff Levy. And I'm like, you people are idiots.
- 38:48Speaker 2: You're so stupid, I can't talk to you. The only
- 38:50Speaker 2: way I can guarantee you that Kamario Taylor is not
- 38:54Speaker 2: in maroon and white, the only way I can for
- 38:57Speaker 2: sure 100% say it is if you fire Jeff Levy.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Because guess where his ass is going to end up
- 39:02Speaker 2: as the offense coordinator at A & M or the
- 39:05Speaker 2: offense coordinator back in Oklahoma? And guess where Kamario Taylor
- 39:09Speaker 2: is going to be? Right there with a whole hell
- 39:11Speaker 2: of a lot more talent around him and a whole
- 39:12Speaker 2: lot more money with a coach that knows how to
- 39:15Speaker 2: use him. Go ahead and fire him. But Oklahoma, man, gosh,
- 39:20Speaker 2: how are they this bad on offense? It's just amazing
- 39:24Speaker 2: to me. And they're this good on defense. It is amazing.
- 39:29Speaker 2: He's a fabulous coach. coach but it's clear he can't
- 39:32Speaker 2: find an offense coordinator coaching matters coaching matters and that
- 39:38Speaker 2: goes back to what we were talking about with Clemson
- 39:40Speaker 2: go ahead sorry didn't mean to cut you off on.
- 39:41Speaker 1: This no no I totally agree with you here and
- 39:43Speaker 1: so I mean I've got a couple more in these
- 39:45Speaker 1: spots that I'm interested in um Mississippi State goes to Austin.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Texas is coming after that huge win. They're laying 20-and-a-half
- 39:53Speaker 1: against two Bulldogs with Billy Bucket. Where are you going here?
- 39:57Speaker 2: It's interesting to see if Swan's going to get healthy enough,
- 40:01Speaker 2: who truly should be State's backup, but has been injured.
- 40:06Speaker 2: At some point, they think he's going to be able
- 40:08Speaker 2: to– be able to play at the end of the day.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Texas is going to gas can these guys. What in
- 40:13Speaker 2: the world have you got to play for? State's kind
- 40:15Speaker 2: of down. They got Vandy coming into Starkville next week,
- 40:18Speaker 2: Auburn coming in, and then Tennessee Tech. I think they
- 40:21Speaker 2: focus on those three games and how to win them.
- 40:24Speaker 2: and I think Texas makes this a cakewalk pretty easy
- 40:29Speaker 2: as they get out there. Arch Manning, they ought to
- 40:31Speaker 2: be able to run the football, and I think Arch
- 40:33Speaker 2: will be able to do some things in the passing
- 40:35Speaker 2: game as they're kind of beat up. Jefferson, one of
- 40:37Speaker 2: the cornerbacks for State, is beat up, had to leave
- 40:40Speaker 2: the game, although he did walk off under his own power.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Should be banged up. I think Texas kills these guys.
- 40:51Speaker 1: SC.
- 40:51Speaker 2: SC.
- 40:52Speaker 1: At home, Saturday evening, Ohio State. Ohio State's laying six
- 40:56Speaker 1: and a half. Both these teams with six wins. People
- 40:59Speaker 1: have just written SC up for dead. I've heard conversations
- 41:03Speaker 1: that Lincoln Riley could be the next Baylor coach. Bro
- 41:06Speaker 1: has a job currently, just in case you're wondering. Ohio
- 41:09Speaker 1: State coming here to back up quarterback. Arguably one of
- 41:12Speaker 1: the top two or three rosters in the country. Traveling
- 41:15Speaker 1: to LA, I think you're going to get SC's best
- 41:18Speaker 1: shot here. If you give me SC plus seven, I'm
- 41:21Speaker 1: taking it, and give me SC on the money line, baby.
- 41:24Speaker 1: I think this is the Lincoln Riley.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Live dog. I like where you're going. I love this game.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Give me the fight Lincoln Riley. They go lay a
- 41:32Speaker 2: turd on their third trip going across at least two
- 41:36Speaker 2: time zones in five weeks. They got these guys coming
- 41:40Speaker 2: out west now, making the three-hour trip. Oh, yeah. This
- 41:45Speaker 2: sets up perfect for the fighting Lincoln Rileys. I like it.
- 41:49Speaker 2: I think we're going to get a cover, and, yes,
- 41:51Speaker 2: I think they're a live dog. I like it here.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Oh, Washington, Nebraska. Washington getting seven and a half, coming
- 42:00Speaker 1: to play the corn. Corn's five and two, baby. What
- 42:04Speaker 1: are you going to do? I don't know, man. Looking
- 42:07Speaker 1: at this one, you kind of think Washington's getting right.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I kind of want to lean on the corn, but
- 42:12Speaker 1: I don't know if I want to lay seven. This
- 42:14Speaker 1: team is 6-1 against the number. Nebraska Cornhuskers. They will
- 42:18Speaker 1: get bowl eligible if they win this game. Why am
- 42:21Speaker 1: I saying that? Because they have wandered through the wilderness
- 42:25Speaker 1: of bowl season for so long. I think people thought
- 42:28Speaker 1: Matt Rule was going to get shit-canned, me being one
- 42:31Speaker 1: of them. They win here. They go bowling. Does Washington
- 42:34Speaker 1: come and upset their apple cart?
- 42:37Speaker 2: Going to be fascinating to see. I think this is
- 42:40Speaker 2: a great game. I will not bet on this because
- 42:42Speaker 2: both these teams scare me a little bit on the
- 42:47Speaker 2: betting side. But I do think the quarterback change in
- 42:50Speaker 2: Washington has helped them. And I think at the end
- 42:55Speaker 2: of the day, this team's now playing as a team
- 42:57Speaker 2: instead of a disjointed group with a talented quarterback. But
- 43:02Speaker 2: I don't know if I want to bet on them
- 43:03Speaker 2: on the road because Nebraska is better. I will pass
- 43:06Speaker 2: on this game. But if I did bet it, I
- 43:08Speaker 2: would probably take the points and go with Washington.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Last one I've got, I'm going with the USA 10 p.m.
- 43:17Speaker 1: get-back game of the week. Oregon State, Fresno State. Give
- 43:21Speaker 1: me over 57.5 in this one. Oregon State's offense has
- 43:25Speaker 1: just been absolutely electric. They're averaging 42 points a game.
- 43:29Speaker 1: You actually can get them at over 31.5 if you
- 43:32Speaker 1: can get a team total. Take that.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Take the over.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Take the whole thing. I think they're going to beat
- 43:37Speaker 1: Fresno State. This Oregon State team's coming off a bye.
- 43:41Speaker 1: They're rested. Offense is exciting. This coach may have played
- 43:44Speaker 1: himself into another job. Quarterback may be moving on to
- 43:47Speaker 1: another job after this. I don't know. I've loved watching
- 43:50Speaker 1: this team play. They had two great showings against both
- 43:54Speaker 1: University of Houston and Texas Tech early in the season.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I bring that up. Because if they somehow manage to
- 44:01Speaker 1: win this conference and win the Pac-12, you could be
- 44:04Speaker 1: looking at Oregon State as a group of five team
- 44:06Speaker 1: to get the bid, which that's kind of awesome. Because
- 44:08Speaker 1: this is a team, them and Wazoo, that were just
- 44:11Speaker 1: absolutely thrown out with garbage on the Pac-10 when it
- 44:14Speaker 1: fell apart or Pac-12. But go ahead and give me
- 44:16Speaker 1: the team total and give me the over in the
- 44:18Speaker 1: Oregon State Beaver game. I'm ready for this one, baby.
- 44:21Speaker 1: It's one of my top points.
- 44:22Speaker 2: I love it. I got one more for you. Give
- 44:25Speaker 2: me the Purdue Boilermakers. Plus eight and a half at
- 44:28Speaker 2: Penn State. I think Penn State is a mess. I
- 44:32Speaker 2: think Purdue's just good enough to stay within this number,
- 44:35Speaker 2: but they might be a live dog too. Not going
- 44:37Speaker 2: to surprise me at all if they figure out how
- 44:39Speaker 2: to win this ballgame. Just think Penn State's not going
- 44:42Speaker 2: to have enough to separate. This Purdue team's been able
- 44:44Speaker 2: to score, which is what's surprising. And I think ultimately
- 44:49Speaker 2: that's going to be what gives us a cover but
- 44:52Speaker 2: gives us a chance for an upset in Happy Valley.
- 44:58Speaker 2: My Penn State friends are not going to enjoy it,
- 45:00Speaker 2: but I like Purdue here, plus eight and a half.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I kind of like it, too. The only other thing
- 45:06Speaker 1: I've looked at, New Mexico, under 41 and a half.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I don't know how San Jose State's going to score
- 45:11Speaker 1: in this game, and I think they're just going to
- 45:13Speaker 1: suffocate them on defense. And New Mexico just doesn't blow
- 45:17Speaker 1: people out. They move at a snail's pace of an offense.
- 45:20Speaker 1: 41 and a half is a low number, but I
- 45:23Speaker 1: don't think they get there, especially after last week with
- 45:25Speaker 1: New Mexico winning that big one against San Diego. I mean,
- 45:28Speaker 1: North Dakota State, I could go under 41 and a half. But,
- 45:31Speaker 1: I mean, that's about all I've got, man. I've gone
- 45:33Speaker 1: through the board. I wanted to take Wake Forest. I
- 45:35Speaker 1: don't like the line at all. I think they're fun
- 45:38Speaker 1: with Gio Lopez. That's a team probably I could get
- 45:40Speaker 1: down with taking a team total over in that one.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I think the Cincinnati-Utah game is fascinating. I mean, because
- 45:48Speaker 1: you've got two teams coming into this one with huge
- 45:51Speaker 1: gains from last week. I mean, Houston– I mean, this
- 45:54Speaker 1: is a terrible spot for Utah. If you like spots,
- 45:58Speaker 1: I think you take Cincinnati here. By the hook, get
- 46:00Speaker 1: you to a touchdown. Cincinnati got that big win last
- 46:03Speaker 1: week after Texas Tech. You can't tell me they hadn't
- 46:05Speaker 1: been looking forward to that all season long. One of
- 46:07Speaker 1: the better showings they've had. Utah had to come back
- 46:11Speaker 1: and beat– I mean, had to beat Houston, and then
- 46:13Speaker 1: next week they got the holy war on deck. A
- 46:16Speaker 1: lot of look ahead in this spot here. I totally
- 46:20Speaker 1: could get down with this. And then the only other
- 46:23Speaker 1: thing I might take is I might take me a
- 46:24Speaker 1: little over on Colorado State. But I don't like Utah State.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I may take their team total. This team is 7-0
- 46:31Speaker 1: to the over. So you're starting to get some trends
- 46:34Speaker 1: in here that make some sense. But a lot of
- 46:36Speaker 1: games I like. I think they're going to be interesting
- 46:38Speaker 1: and fun to watch, but I just don't like the
- 46:40Speaker 1: lines on them. And so that's kind of where I
- 46:42Speaker 1: am with the board. Not my favorite board. I'm looking
- 46:44Speaker 1: forward to next week.
- 46:45Speaker 2: I'm going to dig into ECU hosting Temple a little bit.
- 46:49Speaker 2: That's minus five and a half. I just hadn't had
- 46:52Speaker 2: enough time to dig into that game yet. And the
- 46:54Speaker 2: other game that my gut is telling me to ride,
- 46:58Speaker 2: and I want to find out if BYU's running back
- 47:01Speaker 2: is back, but 16 and a half hosting ASU. This
- 47:05Speaker 2: is a team that struggled mightily. And I watched every
- 47:08Speaker 2: minute of that game with Texas A & M. We
- 47:11Speaker 2: now know Texas A & M is terrible. And I
- 47:16Speaker 2: realize now that Arizona State is about what I thought
- 47:19Speaker 2: they were going to be, not a great football team.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I think BYU comes back and gets right after being
- 47:25Speaker 2: pissed off and frustrated they lost that ball game last week.
- 47:28Speaker 2: When we look at that, if the tailback's back, I'm
- 47:30Speaker 2: going to lay the 16 and a half.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Gotcha. Folks, it's been great. We love everything. Give us
- 47:35Speaker 1: a few comments. Leave me a funny comment next week
- 47:37Speaker 1: so I know that you're listening for one. Let's hope
- 47:40Speaker 1: we can win some more, cash some more tickets. College
- 47:42Speaker 1: football season, baby.
- 47:43Speaker 2: There's nothing like it. Mark, before we go, I got
- 47:45Speaker 2: two things to leave on. First, if your Baylor Bears
- 47:48Speaker 2: coaching search goes anywhere past Jeff Traylor and him not
- 47:51Speaker 2: saying no, then everybody in Waco is a dumbass. Go
- 47:55Speaker 2: back to Brink's truck up because y'all got plenty of money.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Go hire that guy and go win some football games.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Get that team right. Second question is, do they touch
- 48:04Speaker 2: base with Rule? And will he think about moving? I
- 48:08Speaker 2: know that sounds nuts. But, man, it's hard to get
- 48:12Speaker 2: talent to Nebraska. And Waco's got it everywhere around them.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I think those two guys are two guys that if
- 48:20Speaker 2: they don't talk to, they're nuts. I think absolutely crazy
- 48:23Speaker 2: if they don't. And then the flip side, if you're
- 48:26Speaker 2: Maryland and you don't talk to Dan Mullen and Jason
- 48:31Speaker 2: Eck about your job, then everybody up there ought to
- 48:34Speaker 2: get fired. Everybody. And I could throw in a couple
- 48:38Speaker 2: of other coaches, too. But at the end of the day,
- 48:41Speaker 2: those are guys that have been proven head coaches. And
- 48:44Speaker 2: Dan Mullen's from that area of the country. and the
- 48:48Speaker 2: guy's always figured out how to win with less talent.
- 48:52Speaker 2: And that's exactly what Maryland has to have. I would
- 48:56Speaker 2: lean towards Jason Eck just because he's younger, and I
- 49:00Speaker 2: love the guy the way he coaches. But, again, if
- 49:04Speaker 2: you're Maryland, you get past those two names. They need
- 49:07Speaker 2: to have said no before you go to anybody else.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Brian Kelly, really? I mean, come on, man. You know, but,
- 49:16Speaker 2: you know, whatever. That's that's the truth. Again, we got
- 49:19Speaker 2: a lot of got a lot of moron, a lot
- 49:22Speaker 2: of moron A.D. 's out there. So we'll see what happens.
- 49:25Speaker 2: But those are those are four names that they are
- 49:28Speaker 2: both those jobs ought to talk to.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Folks, love it.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Everybody have a great week.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Hope you make a couple more bucks. Have a couple beers.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Enjoy that.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Tip your bartenders, and we'll be back at you next week.
- 49:38Speaker 1: As always, stay safe.
