- 0:12Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode forty six of Ravellio for
- 0:15Speaker 1: June eleventh, twenty twenty six. I'm Emy and.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'm Nicole, and in this episode, we'll be discussing moments
- 0:38Speaker 2: never seen on screen before that we may see in
- 0:41Speaker 2: the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series, And for the first
- 0:46Speaker 2: time since our inception, we're going to be jumping right
- 0:50Speaker 2: into that because there's no news.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It's crazy. I never thought we lived to see the day.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, yeah, there might be a little something
- 1:02Speaker 2: out there. Please call us out if there's some news
- 1:04Speaker 2: that you've seen in the last couple of weeks.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You know what that means. As soon as we get
- 1:09Speaker 1: off this call, something's gonna happen.
- 1:11Speaker 2: It is because we're recording this on June sixth, so
- 1:14Speaker 2: there is several days before when we're recording this and
- 1:18Speaker 2: when it comes out that things could happen and news
- 1:21Speaker 2: could break. So yeah, but for now, we have no news.
- 1:27Speaker 2: No post on this Saturday. It's not Sunday Saturday, but
- 1:31Speaker 2: no post on this Saturday.

- 1:59Speaker 1: so we're breaking our main discussion into three bits here.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So we've got book only moments that we're not in
- 2:10Speaker 1: the movies but they were in the books. We've got
- 2:13Speaker 1: brand new moments that we know we're going to be
- 2:16Speaker 1: getting in the HBO series, not in the books or
- 2:20Speaker 1: the movies. And then we're going to talk about some
- 2:24Speaker 1: scenes that we really hope that we get to see
- 2:27Speaker 1: in the series. So kicking us off, we're going to
- 2:33Speaker 1: take a look at some of those book only moments
- 2:37Speaker 1: that didn't make it into the original movies that we
- 2:41Speaker 1: know we're getting in this series, which I feel like
- 2:44Speaker 1: this is like people who are excited about the series
- 2:49Speaker 1: are excited for this reason. I feel like that's kind
- 2:52Speaker 1: of the main thing you hear from people is, Oh,
- 2:56Speaker 1: we're finally going to get to see those book moments.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So one of those first ones that got confirmed pretty
- 3:06Speaker 1: early on, like as soon as they started filming, was
- 3:09Speaker 1: Uncle Vernon's very strange morning that he has in that
- 3:14Speaker 1: first chapter of The Sorcerer's Stone. We saw a bunch
- 3:19Speaker 1: of photos of the filming of this. There's a great
- 3:24Speaker 1: photo of Vernon with his little iced bun and he's
- 3:28Speaker 1: just crashed into dedalistiggle. I'm so excited that they're actually
- 3:35Speaker 1: starting with this because this makes me so happy.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think that, and I know we've
- 3:42Speaker 2: you know, obviously, some of these things we've kind of
- 3:44Speaker 2: talked about in other episodes before, kind of shared our
- 3:47Speaker 2: thoughts in those boots, so some of this might be,
- 3:49Speaker 2: you know, things that we've said before. But I think
- 3:53Speaker 2: that obviously having the show and having more run time
- 3:56Speaker 2: allows us to see more of that first chapter because
- 4:00Speaker 2: obviously the movies we kind of get dumped right into it,
- 4:04Speaker 2: right with you know, Harry being brought to Private Drive,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and we don't really get to see anything about the
- 4:14Speaker 2: normal day that became very kind of not normal for
- 4:18Speaker 2: certain people leading up to it. And I think that
- 4:21Speaker 2: it's a really good backstory or context, and I'm just
- 4:25Speaker 2: really excited to see more of like just the Muggle
- 4:28Speaker 2: world kind of like I think we'll kind of see
- 4:30Speaker 2: more of that or just seeing Yeah, we just don't
- 4:34Speaker 2: get a lot of like seeing the witches and wizards
- 4:37Speaker 2: like in the Muggle world, in the movies in general,
- 4:40Speaker 2: but we know we have book only scenes where we
- 4:44Speaker 2: do have our witches and wizards like in the Muggle world.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So I'm excited for that.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I'm curious too just to see how they do this
- 4:53Speaker 1: because in that first chapter of the book, a lot
- 4:57Speaker 1: of the context and information we get is kind of
- 5:00Speaker 1: like through Vernon's thought process. So it'll be interesting to
- 5:05Speaker 1: see how they film this and how they kind of
- 5:08Speaker 1: info dump I mean, some of.
- 5:11Speaker 2: That they could do. I think the one good thing
- 5:15Speaker 2: about like a visual medium obviously over the book is
- 5:21Speaker 2: that you can kind of switch more easily between other
- 5:26Speaker 2: people's points of view because you're not just reading like
- 5:31Speaker 2: somebody's point of view or somebody's thoughts.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Like I mean, could they.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Do like a voiceover kind of thing, like of his thoughts,
- 5:41Speaker 2: Like could they add maybe some dialogue in there, like
- 5:49Speaker 2: when he like gets home and is like just like
- 5:54Speaker 2: telling like Petunia about everything that happened, And maybe they'll
- 5:57Speaker 2: be just some of his thoughts that we get in
- 5:59Speaker 2: the Boo book might be translated into actual dialogue that
- 6:02Speaker 2: he shares with somebody, or maybe it'll just come through
- 6:08Speaker 2: in like the acting, you know.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But there's like definitely a lot of things they could do.
- 6:18Speaker 2: With that, So I guess, yeah, it'll be interesting to
- 6:19Speaker 2: see how they add in those thoughts. Is this going
- 6:24Speaker 2: to be like, are we gonna, I like picture seeing
- 6:26Speaker 2: this just like montage kind of thing of like Vernon's
- 6:29Speaker 2: day and all these different things that happen, rather it
- 6:33Speaker 2: than being this like continuous kind of scene.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Like is he going to be like grumbling to his
- 6:40Speaker 1: coworkers about the weirdos in the street, like what right?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Like yeah, like he can were going to get I
- 6:45Speaker 2: think they could definitely add some dialogue there to put
- 6:49Speaker 2: his thoughts into the show, because I think it's important.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I think the fact that they're including this in the show,
- 6:58Speaker 2: I think means that we will get some of like
- 7:00Speaker 2: that verbalization of his thoughts, because why would you film
- 7:03Speaker 2: all these scenes and everything and have like no dialogue.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But if they do it really cleverly, they could also
- 7:09Speaker 2: do it in this montage way that doesn't have any
- 7:11Speaker 2: dialogue but does still portray.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Feelings.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, like you said, like, I think there
- 7:18Speaker 1: will be more importance on that conversation with Petunia when
- 7:21Speaker 1: he gets home, because in that conversation, doesn't she confirm
- 7:28Speaker 1: what Harry's name.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Was I think so because he said people he was
- 7:32Speaker 2: hearing a name but couldn't quite remember what the name was.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And yeah, she's kind of like wait, what, like that
- 7:37Speaker 3: is his name?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Right, because like when he's on his way to work
- 7:41Speaker 1: and stuff. It's something that's where we get the inner
- 7:44Speaker 1: thoughts of like, oh, the Potter's kid, wasn't.
- 7:49Speaker 3: He such as Henry Harry?
- 7:51Speaker 1: You know what was the name? So yeah, I guess
- 7:54Speaker 1: they could really use that conversation at home to kind
- 7:58Speaker 1: of lay that up a little.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Better when I think we see that a lot in
- 8:02Speaker 2: like other mediums, like where sometimes like I think of
- 8:07Speaker 2: like when I'm watching shows or movies or something, right,
- 8:09Speaker 2: and like people, if you listen to some of the
- 8:13Speaker 2: dialogue and compare to like how things actually happen in
- 8:16Speaker 2: real life, sometimes it's kind of weird, like when people
- 8:19Speaker 2: meet up and they're like Amy, right, and like when
- 8:25Speaker 2: and then you're like Nicole and like that happens a
- 8:28Speaker 2: lot in show, right. That happens a lot in shows,
- 8:31Speaker 2: And like when I see you in person, I don't
- 8:33Speaker 2: go Amy, Yes that's my name, and I think and
- 8:40Speaker 2: obviously in shows and stuff, right, they do that. So
- 8:43Speaker 2: the viewer is like, oh, that's Amy, But in real life,
- 8:49Speaker 2: we don't talk that way. So I think we'll see
- 8:52Speaker 2: a lot of that, like you know, where it's like
- 8:55Speaker 2: you know, or they'll say something like I don't know, Amy,
- 9:00Speaker 2: you must be really tired after that or whatever, just
- 9:03Speaker 2: to give context, like they have to put that context
- 9:06Speaker 2: in the dialogue.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But sometimes I'm just like, wow, I never talk like this.
- 9:10Speaker 2: So I think that like we will get some of
- 9:12Speaker 2: that to help fill in the things that are like
- 9:18Speaker 2: just those written words in the pages. It'll be and
- 9:22Speaker 2: actually to that point, it'll be really cool. And hopefully
- 9:26Speaker 2: we get to see just more of a dynamic between
- 9:28Speaker 2: like Vernon and Petunia, because in the movies, like we
- 9:32Speaker 2: don't get a ton of that, Like we don't. I
- 9:35Speaker 2: don't think we never see just really like the two
- 9:39Speaker 2: of them just having a conversation about like.
- 9:41Speaker 1: What is going on right, Like what is their relationship
- 9:45Speaker 1: and their marriage really like like I don't really know,
- 9:50Speaker 1: like are they in love?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Are they tolerating each other? Right? Are they just together?
- 9:55Speaker 1: For Dudley, Like we never see them disagree really taking
- 10:02Speaker 1: them out to the shack in the middle of the ocean, right,
- 10:05Speaker 1: she is a little bit like what But other than that, yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 1: they're never really arguing, but we don't ever see them
- 10:12Speaker 1: like affectionate towards each.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Other like they're dynamic. Is very I don't know if
- 10:17Speaker 2: the book really gives us a good description of their
- 10:20Speaker 2: dynamic either, because they're kind of like they're just there
- 10:24Speaker 2: for certain plot things because of like the fact that
- 10:27Speaker 2: just Harry's there and they're obviously key to that. But
- 10:30Speaker 2: I think the show could explore that like a little
- 10:34Speaker 2: bit more. But now I'm jumping ahead because that's not
- 10:36Speaker 2: a book only thing. That's kind of like what could
- 10:38Speaker 2: be added, But yeah, just more Dursleys, Like I think
- 10:47Speaker 2: that's just that'll be cool.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. So another thing that we know that we're
- 10:54Speaker 1: getting is Peeves, which is kind of strange to me
- 11:03Speaker 1: because they still haven't confirmed the casting for Peeves, but
- 11:08Speaker 1: they keep saying, yes, Peace is in this, so I'm like, okay,
- 11:13Speaker 1: so we've got like the opposite situation of what happened
- 11:15Speaker 1: with the films where Peeves was cast but never made
- 11:19Speaker 1: the movies. Now we know he's going to be in
- 11:23Speaker 1: the show, but we don't know who's playing him.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Right, which I mean, I think that the whole casting
- 11:31Speaker 2: announcements have been like very interesting and like really weird about.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Just all over the place.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It is, and like what is being selected as being
- 11:42Speaker 2: announced or found out is just really weird. Like we'll
- 11:46Speaker 2: talk about it in a little bit actually about I
- 11:49Speaker 2: guess one piece of news that we did have, but
- 11:50Speaker 2: we're including it in the main discussion. Like it's kind
- 11:53Speaker 2: of just like a really random casting thing for us
- 11:55Speaker 2: to find out where I feel like there's probably a
- 11:58Speaker 2: lot of cast I mean, no, there's probably a lot
- 12:01Speaker 2: of casts here that we haven't had any kind of
- 12:03Speaker 2: formal announcement of and there never will be, So I mean,
- 12:07Speaker 2: they obviously have to have somebody I think for Peeves,
- 12:09Speaker 2: unless they're planning to just film that later and then
- 12:15Speaker 2: add it in, or if they're just it's gonna be
- 12:17Speaker 2: all CGI obviously and then they're just having a voice actor,
- 12:21Speaker 2: or are they gonna have somebody actually like acting as
- 12:25Speaker 2: Peeves and then just put the effects on it after,
- 12:28Speaker 2: like right, you know, I guess they could go either way.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And I guess if they're just gonna do it all CGI,
- 12:34Speaker 2: like if they're just gonna make him fully a CGI
- 12:35Speaker 2: character and have somebody voice him, I can see why
- 12:40Speaker 2: maybe we haven't gotten an announcement, right, but if they
- 12:42Speaker 2: have somebody that's actually gonna be on set acting and
- 12:45Speaker 2: then they just do special effects after, I mean, it's hard.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Because he's like he's not a ghost, he's a poltergeist.
- 12:52Speaker 2: But like we did see real actors and actresses portraying
- 12:56Speaker 2: the ghosts in Hugial movies, so they.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Absolute could do that. So it's just I can't imagine
- 13:03Speaker 3: they'll just do him all CGI.
- 13:06Speaker 1: But like I guess, especially for like facial expressions, like
- 13:09Speaker 1: I feel like you need an actor for that, even
- 13:11Speaker 1: if it is going to be CGI after, Like.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I yeah, I mean, I guess. Like the one thing though,
- 13:26Speaker 2: is that because Peeves is a poltergeist and not like
- 13:31Speaker 2: a ghost, does he like actually look fully like a
- 13:37Speaker 2: human like the ghosts do, because I know, like I
- 13:42Speaker 2: feel like in the books, like we do get some
- 13:47Speaker 2: descriptions about him, like we do know that he has
- 13:50Speaker 2: like a solid body, and we know that he's he's able, yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 2: and he's able to like interact with objects, but as.
- 14:02Speaker 1: A nose because the gum from the keyhole gets shoved
- 14:05Speaker 1: up its nose.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yep, And we know, I know, there's like description about
- 14:09Speaker 2: like what his eyes look like and his like smile,
- 14:12Speaker 2: like his grin, like I know we have a description
- 14:14Speaker 2: of that, so I guess. I mean, it does sound
- 14:17Speaker 2: like he does have like all humanoid features, So I
- 14:21Speaker 2: guess they could totally have somebody portray him and then
- 14:24Speaker 2: maybe with special effects. I don't think he'd looked the
- 14:28Speaker 2: same as a He shouldn't look the same as a ghost,
- 14:32Speaker 2: like a human ghost, because he's not. But I think
- 14:36Speaker 2: that's where the special effects could make him look maybe differently.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, but they could. But because of that,
- 14:49Speaker 3: they could.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Totally go with a CGI character if he's not gonna
- 14:53Speaker 2: look like a human ghost.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I don't know which.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I mean, it can be done, and it can be
- 15:01Speaker 1: done well. I mean I think of like Gollum from Rays,
- 15:05Speaker 1: that's totally CGI, but like they used the human expression
- 15:10Speaker 1: to influence how they were doing it.
- 15:11Speaker 2: So I think if your right, like Andy Serkis was
- 15:16Speaker 2: still a Gollum. I think Avatar my favorite, like one
- 15:19Speaker 2: of my favorite movies of all time. It's all CGI,
- 15:22Speaker 2: but it's all being acted by humans with motion capture.
- 15:25Speaker 2: So I guess that's kind of yeah, what I was
- 15:26Speaker 2: getting at is either they could have someone come.
- 15:29Speaker 3: In and do motion capture and do CGI.
- 15:31Speaker 2: They could have somebody not come in and do motion
- 15:33Speaker 2: capture and just fully do CGI and do a voice actor,
- 15:36Speaker 2: or they could have somebody there like acting and then
- 15:41Speaker 2: do some kind of special effects. I guess I'm hoping
- 15:44Speaker 2: it's maybe like motion capture.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like that would work best for him.
- 15:49Speaker 2: M hm.
- 15:53Speaker 1: We also know that we're getting Professor Binns and his
- 15:58Speaker 1: History of Magic class, so that's exciting because like, I
- 16:05Speaker 1: feel like we need that moment of him entering through
- 16:07Speaker 1: the blackboard. It's so classic. Yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we'll absolutely get that scene because I
- 16:18Speaker 2: think a scene like that is like made for film TV.
- 16:24Speaker 2: But I also understand why, like we didn't get it
- 16:27Speaker 2: in the movie, just because there just wasn't enough time.
- 16:30Speaker 3: We didn't.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I think all of the all of the class moments
- 16:34Speaker 2: that we got in the movie were very like specific
- 16:39Speaker 2: for the plot, and we're like more necessary. But obviously,
- 16:42Speaker 2: as we've talked about a lot, there's a lot more classroom,
- 16:46Speaker 2: every day moments in the books that I feel like,
- 16:51Speaker 2: in addition to just History of Magic, I think that
- 16:54Speaker 2: we'll see a lot more of those like book only
- 16:57Speaker 2: classroom moments for example, Like I guess, like and I
- 17:03Speaker 2: guess maybe I'm getting ahead too, because we're gonna talk
- 17:05Speaker 2: a little bit later about what we're hoping to see.
- 17:07Speaker 2: But I think, like in our last episode, right when
- 17:09Speaker 2: we were talking about like the centaurs and like you
- 17:13Speaker 2: know when Forriends comes and teaches astronomy, like I would
- 17:16Speaker 2: love to see some of their like astronomy classes, and
- 17:19Speaker 2: like we don't get to see that those are in
- 17:21Speaker 2: the book. We don't get to see them in the
- 17:23Speaker 2: film because they're not really necessary for the plot, but
- 17:26Speaker 2: in something like the show gives us an opportunity to
- 17:29Speaker 2: see those moments.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Right, And I feel like the benefit of including more
- 17:36Speaker 1: of those classroom moments where maybe nothing super important is
- 17:40Speaker 1: happening is it builds the environment, so there's world building there,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and it also like builds the characters more because we're
- 17:50Speaker 1: seeing them in everyday moments and how they interact with
- 17:54Speaker 1: each other. So we're gonna see like Ron falling asleep,
- 17:58Speaker 1: Hermione getting annoyed that they're not taking notes, like all
- 18:01Speaker 1: of these little things. That just makes the world that
- 18:04Speaker 1: much richer and allows it to breathe. Like we know
- 18:08Speaker 1: there's so much action in the Harry Potter stories, but
- 18:13Speaker 1: I think having those moments of like calm and allowing
- 18:18Speaker 1: the story in the world to breathe is what makes
- 18:21Speaker 1: the books so good. I think a lot of complaints
- 18:26Speaker 1: about the films is that it just feels like you're
- 18:30Speaker 1: just going boom boom, boom boom boom from one action
- 18:32Speaker 1: scene to another.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Scuse you kind of are because of timing, And I
- 18:38Speaker 2: think the to that point, like the mundane, everyday, realistic
- 18:42Speaker 2: things that we get in the book is what makes
- 18:45Speaker 2: at least for me, is what makes like the book
- 18:49Speaker 2: in the world like feel real.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not the moments where.
- 18:53Speaker 2: We have battles and that's not like wizard bazzles, right Like,
- 18:57Speaker 2: we don't have that in real life. So like that's
- 18:59Speaker 2: not the part that's making me be like, oh wow,
- 19:01Speaker 2: this world and it's so real. It is those everyday
- 19:03Speaker 2: moments of seeing them in class and dealing with homework,
- 19:07Speaker 2: right Like reading those books when I was that same age,
- 19:10Speaker 2: going to class and doing homework is what made it
- 19:14Speaker 2: just seem like real.
- 19:17Speaker 1: There's like late nights in the common room when they're like, well,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I've got ten pages due tomorrow.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Right, and like it reminds me of like when I
- 19:24Speaker 2: was in college, right, and I would sit in the
- 19:26Speaker 2: common room of like my dorm room with my friends
- 19:29Speaker 2: and we'd be doing work and it's like, that's exactly
- 19:32Speaker 2: what like Harry Ron and Hermione were doing, and like
- 19:35Speaker 2: those moments, Yeah, we just don't get that in the film.
- 19:39Speaker 3: And I do love those moments in the book, and.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Whenever I do any kind of like rereads or anything,
- 19:44Speaker 2: those are the moments I forget about, like in a
- 19:47Speaker 2: general and I think those are the moments that stick
- 19:50Speaker 2: out to me more when I'm rereading than the big
- 19:52Speaker 2: stuff because the big stuff, like is in the film,
- 19:56Speaker 2: and I watch the films all the time. So I
- 19:59Speaker 2: do feel like what makes me reread is not to
- 20:01Speaker 2: re experience those big moments, it's to experience the little moments.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And I think that we will get those in the show.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I think obviously some stuff is still going to get
- 20:11Speaker 2: cut because we still have time limits with a show.
- 20:16Speaker 3: But yeah, and I think was it like the I
- 20:23Speaker 3: don't know if this was the same.
- 20:25Speaker 2: And everything's blending together now and it's been a little
- 20:27Speaker 2: bit since I've like rewatched the like documentary and everything
- 20:29Speaker 2: that we got or I don't know if this was
- 20:31Speaker 2: in an article or maybe I'm completely making this up
- 20:34Speaker 2: right now, but I feel like at one point the
- 20:37Speaker 2: showrunners talked about like wanting Obviously we talked a lot
- 20:42Speaker 2: about them mentioning it being like natural and wanting to
- 20:45Speaker 2: feel really naturalistic, but I feel like there was also
- 20:48Speaker 2: mentions of like things feeling like realistic and real, and
- 20:54Speaker 2: so I think if that is, you know, and I
- 20:57Speaker 2: think we were worried about that, right, Like what do
- 20:59Speaker 2: you mean, like this is a fantasy world, Like things
- 21:01Speaker 2: aren't going to feel real. But I think if they
- 21:04Speaker 2: are wanting things to feel real, then we will see
- 21:07Speaker 2: those book only moments of the students just in the classroom.
- 21:10Speaker 2: We did talk like you know about and this is
- 21:13Speaker 2: like again me jumping ahead a little bit to the
- 21:15Speaker 2: brand new section, but like they talked about like seeing
- 21:18Speaker 2: the teachers and like the teachers lounge, right, So like
- 21:21Speaker 2: I do think that we will see maybe lots of
- 21:26Speaker 2: history and magic classes because I you know, like I don't.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope. So So another thing that's ben confirmed
- 21:38Speaker 1: that we're going to get, which is interesting that this
- 21:41Speaker 1: got confirmed because it's like several seasons away the full
- 21:46Speaker 1: pency of memories shown in order, and that's something that
- 21:51Speaker 1: was reported after that set visit where a bunch of
- 21:55Speaker 1: fans and influencers visited the set. So yeah, that's not
- 22:03Speaker 1: until quite later. But I'm glad that they've said this
- 22:09Speaker 1: and hopefully like hold themselves to this because I feel
- 22:12Speaker 1: like we need those.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm kind of confused too why this got
- 22:16Speaker 2: confirmed so early, because like, we don't even know if
- 22:19Speaker 2: the show will make it that many seasons, and so
- 22:23Speaker 2: what are they already planning this far ahead for that?
- 22:26Speaker 2: But I think that.
- 22:30Speaker 3: We, like, if the.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Show makes it that far, Like I probably would have
- 22:35Speaker 2: never questioned that we would have gotten this because I
- 22:38Speaker 2: think that makes really good I always think, like what
- 22:40Speaker 2: makes really good TV, what makes really good film? And
- 22:43Speaker 2: I think those kind of like I feel like TV
- 22:46Speaker 2: and TV shows love a good flashback, and at the
- 22:49Speaker 2: end of the day, like, what are pencive memories but flashbacks?
- 22:53Speaker 3: So I just think that it will.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Work really well like in a TV show, and like,
- 22:58Speaker 2: and obviously it made sense why we didn't get them
- 23:00Speaker 2: all in the movies.
- 23:01Speaker 3: We only got what was like key.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But to your point that you said before, like, I
- 23:08Speaker 2: think this will also be really good too, just for
- 23:11Speaker 2: like character and plot development, because you get some additional
- 23:14Speaker 2: character moments, like additional plot moments.
- 23:17Speaker 3: That maybe no are not like.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Vital to the final story like what we did see
- 23:24Speaker 2: in the film, but they're obviously important too, like they
- 23:27Speaker 2: were in the book for a reason, so there is
- 23:31Speaker 2: still Yeah, they're still important. I mean it's to me
- 23:34Speaker 2: every word in the book is important, like yeah, I
- 23:37Speaker 2: mean not like and but like you know, like every
- 23:40Speaker 2: like thing that's presented in the book is important in
- 23:42Speaker 2: some way, whether it's important to the overall plot or
- 23:45Speaker 2: it's important just to like the world building.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Mm hmm. I mean it's so funny because those lessons
- 23:53Speaker 1: that Harry has with Dumbledore with the Pencive memories, that
- 23:57Speaker 1: is such a huge chunk of the Half Prince book,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and it's so funny to me that it's such a
- 24:04Speaker 1: tiny little blip in the movie.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I mean, let's be real though, like I do like
- 24:11Speaker 3: the Halfwood Prince film yeah for what it is.
- 24:15Speaker 2: But if I were to say, because I think I've
- 24:18Speaker 2: mentioned before, like and I need to figure this out
- 24:20Speaker 2: when I actually finish a reread of the whole series.
- 24:23Speaker 2: But I think that Halfwood Prints, at this day and age,
- 24:25Speaker 2: will probably inch up to be my favorite book. I
- 24:28Speaker 2: never thought anything would dethrone Prisoner of Azkaban, but I
- 24:32Speaker 2: do think Halfwlood Prints will I do. And there is
- 24:35Speaker 2: so much like lore in that book, which is why
- 24:41Speaker 2: I love it. And let's be real that Halfwood Prince
- 24:45Speaker 2: film is like zero lore.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I mean there's a little bit in there, right, we
- 24:50Speaker 3: get a.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Little bit of pencive memories, we get a little bit there,
- 24:54Speaker 2: but like.
- 24:55Speaker 1: It's so glossed over though.
- 24:57Speaker 2: It's like the worst book to film adaptation of like
- 24:59Speaker 2: the entire series in my opinion. But I understand why
- 25:03Speaker 2: because there is so much info dump in that book.
- 25:06Speaker 3: That is important to the greater world.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I think would a casual viewer care so much about
- 25:13Speaker 2: that stuff? Like, say you have someone who's just a
- 25:15Speaker 2: movie person, hasn't read the book, doesn't really care about
- 25:18Speaker 2: the universe. Would they really care about all of that lore?
- 25:22Speaker 2: Probably not, And so I get why it gets.
- 25:24Speaker 3: The acts in the film.
- 25:27Speaker 2: But I think the good thing with the TV show
- 25:29Speaker 2: is that I don't think they have to care so
- 25:32Speaker 2: much about while some people might only be watching our
- 25:38Speaker 2: show and never reading the books. I think it's like,
- 25:41Speaker 2: we're just going to do it, Whereas like the movies
- 25:43Speaker 2: are like, we have such a limited amount of time
- 25:45Speaker 2: and we have a lot of people who watch these
- 25:48Speaker 2: films who haven't read the books, so we need to
- 25:50Speaker 2: make sure that we're putting in all the main stuff
- 25:52Speaker 2: that still tells the story. But the show can be like,
- 25:56Speaker 2: screw that, we have all this time. We're going to
- 25:59Speaker 2: show you what we and the books that you were missing.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And it's so funny to me because I feel like
- 26:06Speaker 1: I understand why the movies did this and kind of
- 26:10Speaker 1: did play to the casual viewer a little bit more.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But also the casual viewer is going to go to
- 26:16Speaker 1: a movie like that and be like it was fine, right,
- 26:21Speaker 1: Like they're not going to be super into it. They're
- 26:23Speaker 1: just gonna be like, yeah, visually a good well, but
- 26:29Speaker 1: if you added the layers that make it such a
- 26:33Speaker 1: good story, a casual viewer would watch it and be like,
- 26:37Speaker 1: oh wow, this was like actually a very like well
- 26:40Speaker 1: thought out, good story. Whereas I feel like a lot
- 26:45Speaker 1: of times people who haven't read the books but only
- 26:47Speaker 1: watch the films, the takeaway is just like that was entertaining.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Like yeah, And it's funny because I the amount of
- 26:55Speaker 2: times I say to my boyfriend, who like is a
- 26:57Speaker 2: movie only person but also not he's weird because he's
- 27:01Speaker 2: a casual movie only viewer, but like also is like
- 27:05Speaker 2: really intrigued by Harry Potter and the store of Harry Potter,
- 27:09Speaker 2: and like asks questions that I think a casual person
- 27:11Speaker 2: wouldn't ask, so like lots of times, Like I just say,
- 27:14Speaker 2: I just remember saying to him so many times, like
- 27:16Speaker 2: well in the book like that, you know, like that
- 27:19Speaker 2: is touched on so much deeper or like you would
- 27:21Speaker 2: get the answer to the question you just asked me
- 27:23Speaker 2: if you'd read the dang book.
- 27:24Speaker 3: So I think that the.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Show will be really good because again I guess you
- 27:29Speaker 2: know me, I always like to compare it to something else.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I think of Game of Thrones, right. Game of Thrones
- 27:34Speaker 2: is another book series that has extensive detail in the books,
- 27:40Speaker 2: way more than Harry Potter, Like it's high fantasy. It
- 27:43Speaker 2: is it is, you know, you have to devote time
- 27:46Speaker 2: to read that series. But I do not think at
- 27:49Speaker 2: all that that show, especially the earlier seasons, pandered to
- 27:55Speaker 2: like just a casual fan base. There still was a
- 27:59Speaker 2: lot of political stuff involved, Like there was a lot
- 28:02Speaker 2: of those nuances, a lot of conversation, a lot of dialogue.
- 28:06Speaker 3: It wasn't just all action action.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Action, and people appreciated it.
- 28:10Speaker 2: It worked and fans right, people decided, I want to
- 28:15Speaker 2: go read the books now because they watched the show.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So I do hope that this show like has that
- 28:23Speaker 2: same kind of thing. Like we aren't we aren't going
- 28:26Speaker 2: to make this just for the casual viewer. We are
- 28:28Speaker 2: going to include things from the books, but we also
- 28:30Speaker 2: have to make it makes sense to people who haven't
- 28:32Speaker 2: read the books, because we obviously can include every single
- 28:35Speaker 2: thing from the book, but they're going to be able
- 28:37Speaker 2: to balance that a lot more than like the films
- 28:41Speaker 2: ever were able to.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. In one of those more like detailed
- 28:48Speaker 1: kind of background things that we do know we're going
- 28:50Speaker 1: to get is a closer look at Dumbledore's past. So
- 28:57Speaker 1: I don't know when that's going to come into play,
- 29:01Speaker 1: but I think that's kind of cool.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I really hope that we like get like a scene
- 29:10Speaker 2: of like Dumbledore looking in the mirror of Arisaid and
- 29:13Speaker 2: we get to see like what he sees because obviously
- 29:16Speaker 2: it's again that like we know, like.
- 29:19Speaker 1: We get that scene and Fantastic Beast, but I think, yes,
- 29:22Speaker 1: I think that would be good to have.
- 29:24Speaker 3: It in this and him in an older age and stuff.
- 29:27Speaker 1: And I think too, that's still what he's seeing.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Yes, especially because like we know that like when him
- 29:34Speaker 2: and Harry are talking about the mirror and everything, like
- 29:38Speaker 2: it's when he's much older, and I just feel like
- 29:42Speaker 2: it may have changed for him compared to what we
- 29:46Speaker 2: see in Fantastic Beasts.
- 29:48Speaker 1: And that's funny because when I like reading the books,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I always assumed that what he saw was his family.
- 29:57Speaker 3: I still agree with that.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I think that's what he he sees at that point
- 30:01Speaker 1: in his life.
- 30:02Speaker 3: In the book Arianna Alive with the family.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Only reason he's seeing Grinnelvald in Fantastic Beasts, I think
- 30:10Speaker 1: is because that one that time in his life. I
- 30:13Speaker 1: don't know that he has quite as many regrets at
- 30:15Speaker 1: that point like I think he does.
- 30:17Speaker 3: The things haven't happened fully, yes at that point.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Right, So I think that at that point in his life,
- 30:25Speaker 1: maybe his regrets are framed more in like I kind
- 30:29Speaker 1: of regret that relationship, but I also really want what
- 30:37Speaker 1: it could have been correct, whereas once he's aged, he's like,
- 30:41Speaker 1: that was never going to be what I wanted it
- 30:43Speaker 1: to be, So therefore I don't desire that anymore. What
- 30:47Speaker 1: I really want is my family back.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I think that what the story that they were starting
- 30:55Speaker 2: to tell in Fantastic Beasts basically is that. And I
- 31:00Speaker 2: think that once if we had gotten through that whole
- 31:03Speaker 2: story and got to like their big battle and everything,
- 31:06Speaker 2: that really is like the full I guess ending of
- 31:11Speaker 2: their dynamic, then absolutely I don't think that the Dumbledore
- 31:16Speaker 2: who comes out of that.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Duel would be the.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Same Dumbledore that we see in Fantastic Beasts, so I
- 31:29Speaker 2: do think it is different. I also think that obviously
- 31:32Speaker 2: in Fantastic Beasts they also kind of, like in my opinion,
- 31:36Speaker 2: utilize that scene as like a.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Plot moving forward thing.
- 31:44Speaker 2: And to help tell some of the plot, whereas if
- 31:49Speaker 2: we were to see it in the TV show from
- 31:51Speaker 2: like the book that it's not. It is obviously relevant
- 31:54Speaker 2: to the plot, but it's not like telling you the
- 31:57Speaker 2: plot or showing you the plot. It's just the like
- 32:00Speaker 2: ancillary thing of like this is worth what dumble Doore
- 32:02Speaker 2: sees like, we don't what Dumbledore sees has no bearing
- 32:06Speaker 2: on like the overall story, it has bearing on his character.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Grinnovald isn't really important in the Harry timeline.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Right correct, He's right, right?
- 32:17Speaker 2: So I think that that would be to include that
- 32:21Speaker 2: scene as well would be a really nice tie in
- 32:24Speaker 2: to fantastic these films to show exactly what we've been
- 32:29Speaker 2: talking about, that progression of his character and to get
- 32:33Speaker 2: us to the Dumbledore that we know in Harry's time.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And I kind of hope that they do it in
- 32:39Speaker 1: a way that holds that back at first, Like, I
- 32:43Speaker 1: don't really want to see Dumbledore looking in the mirror
- 32:46Speaker 1: of Aara said in season one and he sees a
- 32:50Speaker 1: little girl and a woman in like, I don't want
- 32:55Speaker 1: that to be right away. I want that mystery of
- 32:59Speaker 1: what does he really see? Is he telling the truth
- 33:01Speaker 1: about what he sees? I want that there until later,
- 33:05Speaker 1: and then I want us to start to get like
- 33:07Speaker 1: the little drips of Dumbledore lore that eventually leads us
- 33:13Speaker 1: to that moment of the King's cross between life and
- 33:18Speaker 1: death situation where he starts to explain and then it
- 33:22Speaker 1: starts to connect. It makes sense, But.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I like see this scene in my head of
- 33:29Speaker 2: like you know, like him telling Harry about like you know,
- 33:32Speaker 2: obviously trying to dissuade Harry from keep to keep keep
- 33:35Speaker 2: going back, you know. But then we see that like
- 33:38Speaker 2: every night Dumbledore goes.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I just don't have to see what he sees.
- 33:43Speaker 1: But when I just see him entering the room and
- 33:45Speaker 1: like standing in front of the mirror.
- 33:47Speaker 2: I just like see it in my head, like I
- 33:49Speaker 2: just see like he's like telling him, like, you know,
- 33:51Speaker 2: do not do it because this is because you know people,
- 33:55Speaker 2: you know, what is it, like waste away in front
- 33:58Speaker 2: of it. And then we just see him like like
- 34:00Speaker 2: montage clips of him doing that what he's telling Harry.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Not to do.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Such a good visual too, like because Dumbledore is so
- 34:08Speaker 1: old at that point, if the words are waste away
- 34:12Speaker 1: in front of it. And then we see like old
- 34:14Speaker 1: man Dumbledore with his beard just like longingly staring at
- 34:20Speaker 1: the mirror. Like that's just a really good illustration.
- 34:24Speaker 3: And I think it like works for his character.
- 34:27Speaker 2: I think that the one thing that I'm excited about
- 34:31Speaker 2: to see more about Dumbledore's past is that. And again
- 34:36Speaker 2: like tying it to Fantastic Beasts, we started to get
- 34:39Speaker 2: that right, and I think that it's really important because
- 34:43Speaker 2: with Harry we obviously when like we we learn a
- 34:47Speaker 2: lot about Dumbledore, and especially comparing to the films, right,
- 34:51Speaker 2: so what we see of Dumbledore in the films is
- 34:54Speaker 2: really mainly like just Harry's like perspective of Dumbledore. The
- 34:58Speaker 2: only glimpses I think we get of anything that like
- 35:02Speaker 2: there there's more to him than that is in the
- 35:06Speaker 2: last film when we like or when we start to
- 35:12Speaker 2: you know, I don't know when we get to hear
- 35:13Speaker 2: like you know, he's not the man that you thought
- 35:15Speaker 2: he was or did he tell you this? And like
- 35:16Speaker 2: all of that kind of stuff, but like that's never explored.
- 35:19Speaker 3: It's like a.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Throwaway line to be like hey, book readers, we're gonna
- 35:23Speaker 2: throw this in because you know that there's more into
- 35:25Speaker 2: his past.
- 35:27Speaker 3: And then you know, we just get this.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Like throwaway in a throwaway line of like that's your sister,
- 35:32Speaker 2: like and it's just what we don't get to see
- 35:34Speaker 2: any of that. It's just like what I said like before,
- 35:37Speaker 2: like those just declarations that's like I'm gonna tell you
- 35:40Speaker 2: really quick, this portrait is of your sister, but like
- 35:44Speaker 2: you really don't get any more detail about it. And
- 35:46Speaker 2: it's like this, like see book readers. We still included
- 35:49Speaker 2: there's Arianna's portrait, right, but like we started to explore
- 35:53Speaker 2: that in Fantastic Beasts, but still really didn't get there
- 35:56Speaker 2: because we were so focused on like just the Dumbledore,
- 35:59Speaker 2: like Grindelvaldyne. And I think it's important because Dumbledore is
- 36:03Speaker 2: not a perfect character. He's such a flawed man and
- 36:06Speaker 2: like Harry doesn't see him that way, and but others
- 36:12Speaker 2: recognize that he is. And I think that we have
- 36:16Speaker 2: the time to explore that in the show, and Dumbledore
- 36:20Speaker 2: is such a beloved character and such a big character
- 36:23Speaker 2: that that would be really cool to explore because.
- 36:28Speaker 3: It does.
- 36:30Speaker 2: It is important to like his character and like what
- 36:34Speaker 2: he's doing with Harry because like obviously we have some
- 36:43Speaker 2: characters and stuff that like in the film, right, like
- 36:45Speaker 2: we do get snape like calling Dumbledore out like you've
- 36:49Speaker 2: just been raising him like a pig for slaughter and
- 36:50Speaker 2: stuff like that, Right, But when you're just reading Harry
- 36:53Speaker 2: talk about Dumbledore, like Harry doesn't feel that way, like
- 36:57Speaker 2: he doesn't feel like growing up right that dumb is
- 37:00Speaker 2: just it's like Dumbledore is helping me, Like Dumbledore is
- 37:05Speaker 2: my my father. Figure, like when in reality Dumbledore was
- 37:09Speaker 2: really kind of still kind of doing certain things for.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I wouldn't say personal gain, but like you know what
- 37:17Speaker 3: I mean, I.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Think it's good the greater good, which is very similar
- 37:21Speaker 2: to his old friend grindel Wald.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Isn't it. But but I do.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Think what Dumbledore was doing for the greater good was
- 37:28Speaker 2: actually for the greater good, because getting rid of Voldemort
- 37:30Speaker 2: was actually for the greater good. But yeah, we'll table
- 37:34Speaker 2: that for if we ever want to do a Dumbledore
- 37:36Speaker 2: deep dive. But I think that this is good for
- 37:39Speaker 2: his character development, and I'm excited and excited to see
- 37:44Speaker 2: how it ties into what, like I said, what we've
- 37:47Speaker 2: already seen from Fantastic Beasts.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Mm hmm. So this next one is kind of a
- 37:53Speaker 1: weird one, and we just found this out like shortly
- 37:59Speaker 1: before recording. So morgana is going to be included, which
- 38:06Speaker 1: I mean, we see the chocolate frog card in the book,
- 38:10Speaker 1: so I guess this is like a thing that's in
- 38:12Speaker 1: the book that's like going to be in the TV show.
- 38:15Speaker 1: But we know this because actress Zoe Calhoun has been
- 38:21Speaker 1: cast as Morgan le Fay according to Visiting World Direct,
- 38:25Speaker 1: and that is confirmed on IMDb as well. Yeah, so
- 38:34Speaker 1: I guess we're getting like the full Harry and Ron
- 38:38Speaker 1: trade and chocolate frog cards situation and.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and this is what we were referencing earlier
- 38:44Speaker 2: in terms of just the way some of the casting
- 38:46Speaker 2: announcements have been really weird because I think, but this one,
- 38:50Speaker 2: I don't this one wasn't like again, this isn't like
- 38:53Speaker 2: an official casting announcement.
- 38:54Speaker 3: So this isn't HBO coming.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Out and saying like we've cast more Ghana, Like, this
- 38:59Speaker 2: is just something that news sites have found. So but
- 39:03Speaker 2: I think that it's like, yeah, it's just interesting. But yes,
- 39:08Speaker 2: I think that this means that again, you know, what
- 39:10Speaker 2: we were talking about earlier is just I think further
- 39:12Speaker 2: confirmation of seeing those more like mundane, like everyday kind
- 39:17Speaker 2: of scenes. And I also think too that just this
- 39:22Speaker 2: whole thing speaking of like character development, like we were
- 39:25Speaker 2: just talking about with Dumbledore, like getting these additional scenes
- 39:28Speaker 2: like with Ron as well as also really exciting because
- 39:31Speaker 2: there's a lot of book only Ron moments that we
- 39:34Speaker 2: do not get in the films. I think his character
- 39:37Speaker 2: got the most like of the main trio, like his
- 39:39Speaker 2: character obviously got the most altered in my opinion, from
- 39:46Speaker 2: what we see in the book, and I think that
- 39:48Speaker 2: the show now has the opportunity to like course correct
- 39:52Speaker 2: a little bit and actually like portray Ron how he
- 39:56Speaker 2: is portrayed.
- 39:56Speaker 3: In the books.
- 39:58Speaker 2: And so I'm excited for like more of these like
- 39:59Speaker 2: little scenes with Ron, especially because a little actor who's playing.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Him is so cute and so cute, and this scene
- 40:07Speaker 3: I could just see the tool. It's just gonna be cute.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I can't wait. I'm so excited for this, huh Okay.
- 40:17Speaker 1: So then we're going to move into some brand new
- 40:20Speaker 1: moments that are not in the books or the movies
- 40:24Speaker 1: that we know we're getting in the TV series. First
- 40:28Speaker 1: up on that list is the one that we got
- 40:30Speaker 1: pretty early on, and that is the Flamel's. If you remember,
- 40:36Speaker 1: we got some photos of them filming this scene with
- 40:40Speaker 1: Dumbledore and Nicholas and Paranel Flamel and it looks like
- 40:45Speaker 1: they're on a beach somewhere. So I think, yeah, this
- 40:52Speaker 1: is one of those scenes that's going to kind of
- 40:54Speaker 1: extend the world a little bit, Like we know that
- 40:56Speaker 1: this happens, we know that he I'm sure met with
- 41:01Speaker 1: them about the protection of the Stone and also later
- 41:05Speaker 1: had to discuss with them their decision to live without
- 41:11Speaker 1: that stone for that short amount of time that that
- 41:12Speaker 1: would be. Yeah, but we're going to get that and
- 41:17Speaker 1: we're going to get to see that.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Yeah, these brand new scenes will be very interesting because
- 41:24Speaker 2: it's like I think some of them are going to be,
- 41:27Speaker 2: like you just mentioned, like this one where we know
- 41:30Speaker 2: what happened and like there there is still a tie
- 41:33Speaker 2: to the book because we know what happened, and they're
- 41:36Speaker 2: just extending and kind of like having to create what
- 41:41Speaker 2: that conversation actually looked like and extend and yeah, create
- 41:44Speaker 2: something new, but we know that, like it's reference. But
- 41:48Speaker 2: I think we're also going to get a lot of
- 41:50Speaker 2: and as we'll talk about in a little bit here,
- 41:51Speaker 2: we're going to get some brand new stuff that like
- 41:54Speaker 2: is not even alluded to at all in the book.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Yeah, directly something that just occurred to me as we
- 42:02Speaker 1: were talking. So if we're getting that chocolate frog scene,
- 42:07Speaker 1: we're getting more ghana. Obviously, that's also the first time
- 42:13Speaker 1: that Harry runs across Nicholas flamel Is in that scene
- 42:17Speaker 1: on the chocolate Frog card. So I do feel like
- 42:23Speaker 1: they're going to be planting more flamel throughout this season
- 42:28Speaker 1: than the movie did for sure, and making sure we
- 42:31Speaker 1: kind of get those hints because in the Sorcerer's Stone film,
- 42:37Speaker 1: we don't really get any until Hermione finds him in
- 42:43Speaker 1: a book, like yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Right right, it's just like okay, cool, this random wizard
- 42:48Speaker 2: that we just talked mentioned where right, we don't get that?
- 42:53Speaker 2: And I think that's something too that'll be really nice
- 42:55Speaker 2: about the show, because we know that the books are
- 42:57Speaker 2: filled with foreshadowing and it's filled with easter eggs and
- 43:01Speaker 2: like when you's that's the best thing about rereading the
- 43:04Speaker 2: books is because you realize, oh my god, this was
- 43:06Speaker 2: here the whole time, Like how how did I not
- 43:08Speaker 2: know it? And you wouldn't know it until after the
- 43:10Speaker 2: thing comes to pass. So I think that the show
- 43:14Speaker 2: can kind of play with that a little bit and
- 43:15Speaker 2: play around with that. And I think that this does
- 43:18Speaker 2: confirm that we will get that. I don't want to
- 43:22Speaker 2: say for certain, but I think what to to the
- 43:24Speaker 2: point you just made, like if we're going to like
- 43:26Speaker 2: show like mor GANA, then I feel like the whole
- 43:30Speaker 2: reason why they're adding that scene too is so that
- 43:32Speaker 2: they can introduce Nicholas Will MoU yes as well.
- 43:35Speaker 1: It makes perfect sense now that like my brain has
- 43:38Speaker 1: made that connection.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, okay, it's like cool, we get to
- 43:42Speaker 2: see Morgan. I'm so glad for the actress that she
- 43:44Speaker 2: gets the probably two seconds on screen that this scene
- 43:48Speaker 2: will be on car moving just maybe ever so slightly.
- 43:55Speaker 2: But what is the bigger plan here? Because I think
- 44:00Speaker 2: you're right. I think that's exactly why they're going to
- 44:02Speaker 2: include this scene because I think while we're talking about
- 44:04Speaker 2: this and talking about like them being able to add
- 44:07Speaker 2: in all these other things, I think at the end
- 44:09Speaker 2: of the day, the things they add in is still
- 44:12Speaker 2: going to be intentional.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Like they're not.
- 44:14Speaker 2: They're still not like I said earlier, They're still not
- 44:16Speaker 2: going to have time to put everything in, So there
- 44:20Speaker 2: is still going to have to be some intentional decisions.
- 44:22Speaker 2: And I do think that's probably including that chocolate frog
- 44:25Speaker 2: scene is probably intentional for that reason. But I still
- 44:29Speaker 2: stand by my statement that it will also be really
- 44:31Speaker 2: good character development for Harry and Ron.
- 44:33Speaker 3: In addition, mm hmm.
- 44:36Speaker 1: So speaking of character development, this next item I would
- 44:41Speaker 1: have to imagine is purely for that reason, and that
- 44:46Speaker 1: is seeing Draco at home and this got confirmed from
- 44:51Speaker 1: the actor who plays Draco, lox Pratt, who says, quote,
- 44:56Speaker 1: you get to see him at home and start to
- 44:58Speaker 1: see why he is who he is, and even maybe
- 45:01Speaker 1: you'll feel a bit of sympathy towards him. Draco has
- 45:05Speaker 1: loved but has this crippling family pressure.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'm actually really excited about this, not just because I'm
- 45:14Speaker 2: a Draco fan and I'm a fan of the Malfoy
- 45:17Speaker 2: family dynamic, So I'm really excited for that. And I
- 45:22Speaker 2: think I think this is important because like, what is
- 45:27Speaker 2: it like in the films, like Tom Felton gets like
- 45:30Speaker 2: thirty minutes of screen time or something like that when
- 45:32Speaker 2: you actually add it all up. But like at the
- 45:35Speaker 2: end of the day, like Draco is like such an
- 45:37Speaker 2: important character to the story, and I think in the movie,
- 45:42Speaker 2: like he does be calm, like he is a main character,
- 45:45Speaker 2: but he's also like not like he's also a background character.
- 45:50Speaker 2: And so I think that like it is really important
- 45:52Speaker 2: for us to like see a little bit about like.
- 45:57Speaker 3: What made him like who he is.
- 45:59Speaker 2: And I think it also sets up the like redemption
- 46:02Speaker 2: of Draco that we like ultimately get to see and
- 46:05Speaker 2: like again, like it wouldn't be an episode if I
- 46:08Speaker 2: didn't bring up Curse Child, but like, obviously, like we
- 46:10Speaker 2: don't really fully see his full redemption through Cursechild, and like.
- 46:16Speaker 3: So I think it extends.
- 46:17Speaker 2: There, but like we do start to see it towards
- 46:20Speaker 2: the ends of the books, like and yeah, I just
- 46:28Speaker 2: I think too, Like people love Draco, like he's a
- 46:34Speaker 2: fan favorite, and obviously when they were making the films
- 46:40Speaker 2: didn't know necessarily that that was gonna happen, right, So
- 46:43Speaker 2: they have a little bit of like foresight now in hindsight, like.
- 46:49Speaker 1: And then the importance of his character too.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Right, which we didn't fully know right the movies were
- 46:54Speaker 2: coming out as the books were still being written, So
- 46:56Speaker 2: there's a lot that not everybody was privy too. So
- 46:59Speaker 2: I think now they have the yeah, not the foresight
- 47:03Speaker 2: they can't predict, they have the hindsight that Draco is
- 47:06Speaker 2: an important character and is a beloved character by the fan.
- 47:09Speaker 2: So now it's like, let's give them what they want,
- 47:12Speaker 2: Let's give them more Draco.
- 47:13Speaker 3: And I'm excited for it.
- 47:15Speaker 2: And I'm excited for this actor because I actually just
- 47:18Speaker 2: recently watched.
- 47:18Speaker 3: An interview with him.
- 47:20Speaker 2: It's just a random interview, and I'm like, this boy
- 47:24Speaker 2: is Draco, Like he just like oozes Draco just in
- 47:28Speaker 2: his regular Like I don't know how to explain it,
- 47:31Speaker 2: Like go watch any interview with him and you'll see
- 47:34Speaker 2: what I mean. Like I just am like, I just
- 47:36Speaker 2: feel like he was just like perfectly cast. I mean,
- 47:39Speaker 2: we'll see how it translates into the actual film and
- 47:41Speaker 2: the actual or the show and the actual acting. But
- 47:44Speaker 2: I'm just like excited to see him being able to
- 47:46Speaker 2: do more things because he just I am liking what
- 47:49Speaker 2: I see of him as Draco so far. And the
- 47:54Speaker 2: Malfoys are just a interesting family. I mean, as we
- 47:58Speaker 2: talked about when we did our episode on them.
- 48:02Speaker 1: And I think to not just Draco's importance to the plot,
- 48:06Speaker 1: but Narcissa's right, like she's literally the reason that Harry's
- 48:11Speaker 1: able to survive in the forest. And I think seeing
- 48:16Speaker 1: Draco at home with his parents is going to set
- 48:19Speaker 1: up that moment a little bit better because we really
- 48:23Speaker 1: only get a couple glimpses of Draco and his mother together,
- 48:27Speaker 1: like enough to know that, like, yes, she cares about
- 48:30Speaker 1: her son, But I think seeing them interact from the
- 48:36Speaker 1: very first season onwards sets up that bond a little
- 48:40Speaker 1: bit better and kind of understanding her motivation and maybe
- 48:46Speaker 1: where she's coming from in that moment of confirming that
- 48:49Speaker 1: her son is alive and uncovering for Harry just so
- 48:53Speaker 1: that they can get back to that castle, so she
- 48:55Speaker 1: can go find her son get the heck out of.
- 48:58Speaker 2: There, and just seeing her like a mother and like
- 49:01Speaker 2: just the motherly instincts that we know are there because
- 49:04Speaker 2: of like what you just said, all the actions she
- 49:06Speaker 2: takes later, and also just her you know, everything with
- 49:13Speaker 2: the unbreakable like vow and everything like that's all for Draco,
- 49:16Speaker 2: you know, and she's doing all of that as a mother,
- 49:19Speaker 2: And it'd be very interesting to see too, just the
- 49:21Speaker 2: dynamic of like even her dynamic with Lucius because like
- 49:26Speaker 2: we talked about this a lot too in the Malfoy
- 49:29Speaker 2: episode and kind of just their their motivations or maybe
- 49:35Speaker 2: like you know, is some of like what she doing
- 49:39Speaker 2: just this like passiveness because of like the family she
- 49:41Speaker 2: was born into and then the family she married into.
- 49:44Speaker 2: But she's really like, deep down, has maybe more morals
- 49:48Speaker 2: than that, or like maybe becoming a mother made that
- 49:51Speaker 2: for her. And so I think these little moments will
- 49:54Speaker 2: show that.
- 49:55Speaker 1: I mean, we see her blow off Bellatrix quite a
- 49:59Speaker 1: bit when they're do that Unbreakable fowl.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Because she's choosing her son over.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I feel like her sister, and her sister's her sister's.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Belief system and morals and values.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yes, And I think it's really important because is Narcissa
- 50:18Speaker 2: in with the Death Theaters. Absolutely, she's married to one.
- 50:22Speaker 2: I mean I don't ever get confirmation if she is
- 50:24Speaker 2: one herself either, but like she's right in that circle, right,
- 50:29Speaker 2: So it's very easy to quickly peg her as just
- 50:32Speaker 2: being Bellatrix two point zero, but she's not at all.
- 50:38Speaker 2: And I think exact, yeah, exactly to your point is
- 50:40Speaker 2: that seeing Draco at home is not just seeing Draco
- 50:42Speaker 2: at home, It is also seeing Narcissa and Lucy at home.
- 50:46Speaker 2: And maybe we even see Dobby or No. I feel
- 50:49Speaker 2: like we can't see Dobby earlier because that would just kind.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Of mess with Chamber of Secrets a little bit. But
- 50:54Speaker 3: maybe I guess not because we already know. We have to.
- 50:57Speaker 3: I feel like we have to remember we're going into this.
- 50:59Speaker 3: We're already book reader.
- 51:00Speaker 2: The story's already been out, so we already know that
- 51:02Speaker 2: Dobby is at the Malfoys, so I could see them
- 51:05Speaker 2: throwing Dobby in in the first season.
- 51:08Speaker 1: A quick second, Right, it doesn't.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Change the fact that Harry learns it later if we.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Know it, right, Yeah, I think that's just it's it's
- 51:19Speaker 1: really interesting to explore those characters because they're not good
- 51:24Speaker 1: people by any means. But I think it's just it
- 51:30Speaker 1: adds a different layer again to the story of being
- 51:33Speaker 1: able to kind of see them interact and get a
- 51:36Speaker 1: glimpse into their world as to maybe why they are
- 51:39Speaker 1: the way that they are.
- 51:41Speaker 2: And I think I mean, like I've said a million times,
- 51:43Speaker 2: at least for me, I love the villains in any story.
- 51:47Speaker 2: I think sometimes they're more intriguing than the heroes. And
- 51:51Speaker 2: I think this will provide a really good juxtaposition to
- 51:54Speaker 2: like the Weasleys, because like, we do get to see
- 51:57Speaker 2: a lot of the Weazleys at home, right, We see
- 51:59Speaker 2: a lot of the wee Is at home in the movies,
- 52:01Speaker 2: and so we get to see a lot of like
- 52:03Speaker 2: what a like loving Wizarding family household looks like, and
- 52:09Speaker 2: we really don't get to see the opposite side of that,
- 52:12Speaker 2: because we don't see Draco at home, and he is
- 52:15Speaker 2: the opposite side of that.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Which though it's interesting because the Weasley's. Yes, it's
- 52:22Speaker 1: like obviously like a loving family dynamic, but there is
- 52:29Speaker 1: also this crippling family pressure, like blacks Pratt said in
- 52:34Speaker 1: his quote about Draco correct, Like if you think about
- 52:38Speaker 1: how pressured the twins are by Molly in doing well
- 52:43Speaker 1: in school and staying in school and not having their
- 52:46Speaker 1: joke shop career, that's family pressure. You've got Percy, who
- 52:52Speaker 1: is like arguably trying very hard for like parental approval,
- 53:00Speaker 1: which is why he does half the things he does,
- 53:01Speaker 1: but then he just like severs ties with them later
- 53:04Speaker 1: because he's just gone too far. You've got Ron, who's
- 53:08Speaker 1: always like competing with his brothers for the attention, and
- 53:12Speaker 1: he's like kind of like this forgotten child. He's like,
- 53:16Speaker 1: I really like new dress robes, please.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Not just And I think that's actually a really good
- 53:21Speaker 2: point because obviously, like.
- 53:25Speaker 3: I don't know, please.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Don't comfort me about this, I guess, but like I
- 53:30Speaker 2: think that like the way that we see the Weasley's
- 53:32Speaker 2: portrayed is obviously in such a positive way, right, because
- 53:36Speaker 2: like that's how Harry sees them, and it's like his
- 53:38Speaker 2: powne family. But like to your point, there is like
- 53:42Speaker 2: a lot of similarities there to the Malfoys. In terms
- 53:45Speaker 2: of this family pressure, it's just maybe a little bit
- 53:48Speaker 2: I mean, Draco's family pressure is maybe a little bit darker, right,
- 53:52Speaker 2: and a little bit more colder exactly. But at the
- 53:57Speaker 2: end of the day, family pressures, family pressure, and so
- 53:59Speaker 2: I think it'll be a really good thing to see
- 54:03Speaker 2: those families juxtapus juxtap Oh, my.
- 54:06Speaker 3: God, in juxtaposition juxtapose. There we go. I don't know
- 54:11Speaker 3: why I could say.
- 54:11Speaker 2: That, but like to realize that, like maybe all of
- 54:15Speaker 2: these characters are not as like different as we think.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Like I think of like.
- 54:21Speaker 2: My man serious, right, like he talks about like you know,
- 54:25Speaker 2: the world is not split into good people and death theaters,
- 54:28Speaker 2: Like there's gray in between. And I think every character
- 54:31Speaker 2: has gray and to the point that you just made
- 54:34Speaker 2: like the Weasleys are not all perfect and they're super
- 54:40Speaker 2: wholesome and like they are perfect little people, you know
- 54:43Speaker 2: what I mean, Like there's not no one is perfect,
- 54:46Speaker 2: No family is perfect, no family dynamic is perfect.
- 54:50Speaker 3: And I think we just think.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Of like Weasley's good, Malfoy is bad, but people serious,
- 54:57Speaker 2: there's gray area.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Yeah, there. People can want what's best for their kids,
- 55:02Speaker 1: and that comes from love and care. It doesn't necessarily
- 55:06Speaker 1: mean that that's not also a.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Negative, especially when it comes to pressure. Right.
- 55:14Speaker 2: I think of in the real life too, write people
- 55:17Speaker 2: or children that feel pressured to pursue certain career paths
- 55:22Speaker 2: because you know, they're both their parents are doctors, and
- 55:25Speaker 2: their parents have instilled the entire life that you will
- 55:29Speaker 2: continue to you will continue the family of doctors and
- 55:32Speaker 2: all of that, And like, is it coming from a
- 55:34Speaker 2: malicious place from the parents. Not always Sometimes to your point,
- 55:37Speaker 2: it's coming from we want what's best for you. If
- 55:39Speaker 2: you pursue this career, you'll be doing good for people,
- 55:42Speaker 2: you'll be financially set.
- 55:44Speaker 3: You know.
- 55:44Speaker 2: It's like we you're smart, and we've you know, we've
- 55:47Speaker 2: raised you to be smart, and they just want what's.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Best for you.
- 55:50Speaker 2: But to that kid, it's this immense pressure of like
- 55:55Speaker 2: I don't want to disappoint my parents, and I've got
- 55:58Speaker 2: to get good grades. And sometimes I think the parents
- 56:00Speaker 2: don't realize the pressure that they're putting on their kids
- 56:03Speaker 2: in that way because it is coming from a good place.
- 56:06Speaker 2: And I think that like, even if the Malfoys are bad,
- 56:10Speaker 2: I think that like there probably was still like some
- 56:15Speaker 2: good and some love in some moments. I mean, maybe
- 56:17Speaker 2: just between Draco and Narcissa, but it's it just isn't so.
- 56:21Speaker 3: It isn't so black and white.
- 56:23Speaker 2: And I think I could see Molly and Arthur not
- 56:25Speaker 2: realizing the type of pressure that their kids were under.
- 56:29Speaker 3: I don't think it was a malicious, intentional.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Thing to make Percy feel that way, or to make
- 56:33Speaker 2: the twins feel that way, or to make Ron feel
- 56:35Speaker 2: that way.
- 56:37Speaker 3: It just kind of happened, and.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Like they were still great people and still great parents
- 56:42Speaker 2: despite it.
- 56:43Speaker 3: And I think, like.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Narcissa, I think, and I think I said this in
- 56:48Speaker 2: the Malfoy episode two and we've already been alluding to it.
- 56:51Speaker 3: I think she was probably.
- 56:52Speaker 2: A very good mother, like a very good mother, probably
- 56:56Speaker 2: one of the best mothers that we had in.
- 56:58Speaker 3: This series, but still like.
- 57:02Speaker 2: There was other things at play there, right, And I
- 57:06Speaker 2: think if she could have maybe pulled Draco away from
- 57:08Speaker 2: this life earlier, I.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Think maybe she would have.
- 57:11Speaker 2: And that doesn't make her like a bad person just
- 57:14Speaker 2: because she's a Malfoy and she's on this other side.
- 57:16Speaker 2: And so I think the whole point we're trying to
- 57:19Speaker 2: make here is that the show will have the opportunity
- 57:22Speaker 2: and hopefully we'll be able to see that more and
- 57:26Speaker 2: maybe start thinking about some of these characters in the
- 57:28Speaker 2: gray more than like the movies made everything more black
- 57:34Speaker 2: and white when it came.
- 57:36Speaker 3: To a lot of characters.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Yeah, another character whose home life we're going to get
- 57:42Speaker 1: to explore a little bit more is Hermione. And this
- 57:46Speaker 1: is another thing that kind of got dropped after that
- 57:48Speaker 1: set visit. You know, it's Ben said that we're going
- 57:52Speaker 1: to see Hermione get her Hogwarts letter. There's also this
- 57:56Speaker 1: picture floating around of filming at King Cross and the
- 58:01Speaker 1: actor who plays Hermione's dad is in the background near
- 58:04Speaker 1: the Weasleys, so we'll get some of those interactions. We'll
- 58:09Speaker 1: see Hermione at home, which is kind of cool.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I definitely.
- 58:17Speaker 2: I think this is just another example of what we've
- 58:20Speaker 2: been talking about that it does seem like there is
- 58:22Speaker 2: a lot of intentional choices being made for the show
- 58:25Speaker 2: to like focus on the characters, because at the end
- 58:29Speaker 2: of the day, like the characters are like what make
- 58:31Speaker 2: the story and what make this world above and beyond
- 58:33Speaker 2: the plot, And this will be really cool too, Like
- 58:36Speaker 2: we obviously just talked about like being able to see
- 58:40Speaker 2: the comparison between two very different wizarding families. But this
- 58:44Speaker 2: will open up the door to see, like what does
- 58:46Speaker 2: this look like for these muggle born children who like
- 58:50Speaker 2: get this Hogwarts letter and learn about this. I mean
- 58:52Speaker 2: we obviously we get it a little bit with Harry,
- 58:56Speaker 2: but it's not the same. Like Harry's just in a
- 58:58Speaker 2: category of his own, and it's very.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Well know that the wizarding world exists.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Right, they were from him right theer what and there,
- 59:08Speaker 2: and we know like they're dentists, right, they're very intelligent
- 59:11Speaker 2: people like and to just to grapple with that, like
- 59:14Speaker 2: to be like.
- 59:16Speaker 3: Having it got to be a hoax, right or spam.
- 59:19Speaker 2: As we would call it now, right, Like I think
- 59:22Speaker 2: it'll just be really interesting because we know we have
- 59:24Speaker 2: a lot of muggle born children and like what did
- 59:26Speaker 2: that look like for them when all of a sudden
- 59:28Speaker 2: they get this letter in the mail and they don't
- 59:30Speaker 2: have And to get that letter in the mail is
- 59:32Speaker 2: very you know, to compare to Harry.
- 59:33Speaker 3: I mean, Harry had literally someone.
- 59:35Speaker 2: From that world who is a wizard come and tell
- 59:40Speaker 2: him about it and show him. He got to see
- 59:44Speaker 2: you know that it's real but like Hermione, it's just
- 59:48Speaker 2: you're just like here's this.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Letter, right, do they send someone to all of the
- 59:52Speaker 1: muggle borns to kind of.
- 59:54Speaker 3: Do like did like a social worker.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Also to how would they know how to get into
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Diagon Alley to go shopping?
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: That's like see and I hope we maybe explore that
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: because like again, yeah, we only see that from Harry's perspective,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: and he knows how to do it because he has Hagrid.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: They're guiding him.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Right, how would you possibly know? Like you would get
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: your supply list and be like cool, where do I
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: buy this stuff?
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Like the local Halloween costume store?
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Like where am I going to find a cauldron with
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: the specific like inches of bottom thickness? Like I don't know?
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Or do you think that like the muggle Born children
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: get like a couple extra letters in there that like
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: explain some of these things, or like me meet like
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: a representative from Hogwarts will be at this place at
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: this time. Please meet there and we will guide you
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: into Diagon Alley.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: They got to right, like yeah, you.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Know, why have I never Let's go back to like,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: you know, our Unanswered Questions episode and add this because
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I have never thought of that, how the heck do
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: the Muggle the Muggle families know what to do?
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Like you could, like sure you could say, hey, like
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: go to this place, the Leaky Cauldron, and walk in
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: and then go out back and there's a brick wall,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: but like, how are you going to know what bricks
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: to do? Don't? Because I would it even work if
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: you don't have a wand because Hagrid tops it with
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: his umbrella, which.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Is wond right because obviously the wizard families would get
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: there through wizard ways, like we see the Weezleys go
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: through Flute Like, yeah, well, I hope the show like
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: answers this, and like I guess it'll be a question
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: of whether it's we consider it canon or not, Like
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: do we think that like jk Rowling like gave them
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: I mean obviously we know that she's involved with the
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: show in some way.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: Did she get them to kind of like hey, this
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: is how you know? Here's Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I just picture this little Hogwarts representative meeting all the
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: little muggle born children at this time?
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Could it be detlistiggle though?
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: And I picture them like as a tour group like
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: with the like yeah, and then they'll give them like
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: a little umbrella and.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: It's like, okay, everybody follow me, and like I just
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: I just picture it.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: But yeah, these are the questions we want answered, is
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: like the logistics of this, and Hermione is like our
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: key to getting the answer to this logistics because she is,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: you know, a muggle born child that navigated this. And yeah,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: and I also want to see Hermione's dad and like
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Arthur Weasley like interacted too.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I also really love the idea though, of like if
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: we're seeing Hermione get her Hogwarts letter, we're seeing Draco
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: at home. I like the idea that maybe the first
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: time all of these students are shown is not when
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: they're meeting at Hogwarts. Like, I think it's important to
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: show them all earlier, like separately, because they are their own,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: separate characters and it's not like Hermione and Ron so
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: often just kind of get lumped in as like sidekicks
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: to Harry, but like they're their own people. So like,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: I think that would be a nice way to introduce
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: all these kids, is before they get to Hogwarts in
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: their individual situations and worlds, and then we see them
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: all come together.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: So another Hermione centric thing that we are getting is
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: a look at the Gryffindor girls dormitory, which we never
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: get to see in the movies or the books. So
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: that's fun. And we know that the boys can't enter
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: because they would just go down the slide, So that
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: means we're getting Hermione alone or Hermione with the other
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: girls in the dormitory, which is cool.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Yeah, which again I think to the point you just made,
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: I think it'll be really cool to see especially Ron
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: and Hermione as like their own separate people, because I
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: do agree that, like, especially in the films, they do
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: really kind of get this like sidekick vibe because.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: There's that day without Harry, Like that's what we need
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: to know and what we need to see.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Right and there, and their individual personalities and who they
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: are as individual.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: People is like essential to like their group dynamic and
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: like the things they do together as a group.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: And obviously we get a lot of like Hermione's so smart,
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: she's the brightest witchever Age and we wouldn't be here
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: without Hermione because she knows all these things. But like
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: you know, but she's like she's also like more than that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I feel like she gets reduced a lot to just
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: being like this book smart no at all, and like
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: she is like, don't get me wrong, she is a
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: bad don't want to swear add the word smart.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: Witch and they would.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Have died a million times without Hermione knowing the spell
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: or knowing something she read in a book. But she's
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: more than that, I mean, And she says it too,
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: like books and cleverness only, you know, I mean, that's
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: only a part of what gets you so far, you know.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: And it's like I just I don't, like, I don't
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: want her to ever feel reduced that she's only good
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: for her intelligence, because she's more than that. And like
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: so it'll be very interesting to see like how, yeah,
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: how she interacts with the other girls, especially because like
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: we know that, like I mean, she doesn't really become
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: like really great friends with the other girls in a
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: lot of ways, and like what was that dynamic, Like,
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: like were these other girls just like jealous of her?
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Like was it like what went into that?
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Like I could I could see her getting picked on
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: and clearly not being like the popular ones. So maybe
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: like the clicks formed and she was kind of on
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: the outside but then also you've got her being such
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: close friends with Harry. What does that do? Does that,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: like you said, does that create jealousy from the other
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: girls of like you're best friends with Harry Potter, Like
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: now we're jealous of you. I don't know.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: I mean, I think too, it'll be interesting to see
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: I hope, like to jump into I guess like Chamber
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: of Secrets too, Like I hope, and when we get
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: that series that we also explore like what things were
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: like for Hermione and Ron when like a lot of
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: people started, you know, thinking like Harry was like the
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: air like of Slytherin and was like, oh my god,
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: he can talk to snakes and everybody's talking about him, right,
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: and like what did that look like for Hermione and Ron,
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: because like obviously, like they stood by him during all
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: of that, and like did they also experience that from people?
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: We get to see it in the film from Harry's perspective, right,
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: like he walks in and people are whispering about him
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: or looking at him, or it's very obvious to him,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: like people are talking about me, but like what about
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Hermione and Ron? And that's important to their character because
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I think despite everything, like who was with him till
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: the end? It was them, even when Ron.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Goes through his little what he goes through.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: And goblet of fire, right, I mean, get a little
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: bit of a little temper tantrum kind of thing, if
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: that's what we want to call it, but at the
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: end of the day, and like and then ironically it
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: hap again with Ron later, but you know, he's a
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: little influenced at the time. But we know that Ron,
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: I mean, and I hope we explore that a little
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: bit more too. And now we're getting off the main
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: thing of the girl's dormitory. But again, I guess still
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: just talking about these extra character moments, and I'd love
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: to get more of like what was going through like
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Ron's head when he was like kind of pulling back
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: a little bit, and what was going through like Hermione's
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: head when she was stepping in in those moments, or
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: having to juggle the two friendships, or or even insourcers
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Stone before the three of them really became bonded, right,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Like everything starts with her like overhearing like Ron talking
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: smack about her, and then you know, and then they
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: and then they have this moment of bonding and then
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: they're inseparable after that, Like what was was part of
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: that driven by the dynamics she had like with the
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: girls in the dormitory, and it's just feeling very like
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: an outsider.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, be interesting.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: And this will also like give us an opportunity to
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: see some of the other like girl characters too, that
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: are very much in the background in the films and
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: but that we know are there and we know they've
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: already cast some of them, you know, right for this
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: first season, so we'll also get to kind of see
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: more about them.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, And we've alluded to this a little bit
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: as we've been talking.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Of especially men leads to another thought and then you
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: just go down the rabbit hole.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: But that's scenes that we hope that we see. So
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: what do you think, Nicole, what do you want to
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: see in the series?
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: I mean, this is when I saw this question in
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: the doc I was like, we could do a whole
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: episode like just on this section because there's so much
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: in the books that we don't But I mean, we've
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: definitely alluded this to this and actually my bullet point
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: looks like it's tied very much to your first bullet
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: point here is I'm just more excited to hopefully see
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: more about Valdemore's backstory and like the full backstory, because
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: we obviously just get like little glimpses of it in
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: terms of like what we need to know. But there's
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: so much they could explore there, right, Like we could
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: get so much more of Tom Riddle as like a
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: little kid, as a teenager in like Chamber of Secrets
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: kind of era.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: We could get so much.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: At the orphanage.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I would love to see more about Baltimore, like not
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: like making the horror cruxes per se because that's a
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: little dark, but like obtaining these items to like make
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: the horror cruxes, Like could this be flashbacks? Like could
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: they do flashbacks with it? I was also thinking about obviously,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: like with Fantastic Beasts, we left a lot of unanswered
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: questions about Naghine and could the show pick that up
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: and could the show introt like through I mean obviously
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: would be through flashbacks like this. Obviously a lot of
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: these things were really heavily relying on flashbacks. But could
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: the could the show explore how Naghini and Valdemore came
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: to be, because especially if we're focusing so much on Horcrux,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: is like they're opening the door to explaining a little
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: bit more about Naghini since we know that she has won. Yeah,
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: so I just want more about Tom Riddle and Baltimore
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: and also exactly what you have in your first bullet point.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: I basically just want like half flood prints, Like my
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: that's that sums that. I just want everything we get
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: in Half Blood Prince.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: We want the show, yes, yeah, yeah, because yeah, my
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: first point was I want more Muropian Tom Riddles Senior,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: which I know I said last episode of when we
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: were talking about Muropi. But it would be so interesting
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: to see like her decision to take him off the
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: love potion, what his reaction is when he stops taking
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: the love potion, her being alone and pregnant, trying to
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: navigate that. Like there's just so much there that would
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: just make really good TV. Honestly.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: I also no, I was just gonna say, just be
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: cool like it to kind of tie into like the
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: first part with Valdemore's backstory, right, like that's that's part
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: of his backstory, and I think that like he's our
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: main villain, and like we do get a lot about
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: him and his backstory, but like we know there's more
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: there and there's more to explore, and like again, a
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: lot of people love a good villain backstory and it
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: really helps explain him and his motives, and like in
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: the movies, like we get it in the book and
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: the movies we get kind of just like here's this
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: villain who's like out to get Harry, who doesn't want
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: to like die, and he had a little bit of
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: a hard childhood and was in an orphanage.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: I mean, do we really We don't.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Really I might be missing something, but I feel like
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: we don't really learn much else about him other than that,
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: whereas like what we get in the books and like
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: his backstory and his upbringing and his family and like
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: again talking about family dynamics like.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Play a role in him his character.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean I know, like we've already talked
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: about the pensive scenes and that we are going to
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: get those in their entirety, which I think is so
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: important because when you think about the book scene with
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Dumbledore's memories of going to visit Tom Riddle at the orphanage,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: there's so much in that scene that makes it very
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: obvious that like yes, he had a crappy childhood, but
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: there's something about this person that like he is just
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: like inherently just bad. Like there's like those moments where
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: in Dumbledore's memory and like Harry watching this, where it's
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: just like certainly it's yeah, he's just yeah, something's not right.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: And yeah, I think that comes down to, you know,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: do you believe people are born evil or made evil?
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: And I think some art is born that way. No,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: no amount of he could have had the best childhood
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: in the world, he still probably would have ended up
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: being who he is. Yeah, So there there's so much
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: there that like could be shown to kind of show
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: that too.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: And it's something that is like I mean obviously the
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: movies showed did depict that a little bit, but like
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: that scene is so short in the movie and.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: It just is like a taster. But I think that.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: It's you know, when thinking about things to cut out
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: when you're doing an adaptation, I think like the backstory
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: of your villain is something that is not something that
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: I would immediately think would be on the chopping block.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: I think that that actually would be something you'd really
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: want to include, especially if you have more time. And
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: obviously the movies included. I think I actually don't fault
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: what the movie is included. I don't think they would
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: have had time to include anything else. I think I
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: do think that I will say, like I do love
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: those scenes and have with prints, but to the point
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: that I want to see more of it, and I
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: know there's more of it from the books.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: They were done really well, it just wasn't give me more.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Like I want to see more, and so I think
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: the show at least I hope that, yes, the movie
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: or the show will show us much more.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So then another thing I want to see.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: I really want to see the Death Day party, just
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: because I love that chapter of the book so much.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: And then I also would love to see more of
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: the Order of the Phoenix and what they're doing, Like
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: we don't see a lot of the adults in the
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Order of the Phoenix, like having meetings and like exchanging
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: information and stuff like that, because the kids are kind
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: of like banished to.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: The upstairs, so we are too.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but I would love to see, like put us
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: in that room when Snape is there giving his reports,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: like have us there for conversations about what Lupin has
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: to go and do amongst the werewolves, Like I want
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: to know more about everyone's role in what was going
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: on on during that.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: I agree because I think again comparing it to the movies,
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: like you said, we don't get to see any of that,
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: and a lot of our knowledge of what everybody's doing
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: is just because we read the books, and we know from.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: The books books it's pretty limited.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: That's something I think they could definitely, like you, like,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: like earlier when we were you know, talking about the flammeels, right, like,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: here's this one little kind of throwaway and let's expand it.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: I think that everything that's kind of mentioned in order
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: of the Phoenix has the possibility to be like, let's
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: grab this little line and expand on this, because I
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: think this would be really interesting to see, and also
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: even getting scenes of like them doing said things would
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: be really interesting as well, and I think would make
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: really good TV and adds to the story but also
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: stays true to the story and also would be like
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: I hope a lot of movie only watchers watch the
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: TV show, like we said to to like really get
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: a sense of like this story is so much grander
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: and like has more depth than like you can even imagine.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: And it will fill in so many of those plot
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: holes and kind of give answers to things that maybe
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: they didn't know.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like my boyfriend, Yeah, you think about a lot
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: of a lot of his questions, like.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Well he's going to watch the show?
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, Like there's no he has no choice, There
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: is no.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: Choice in the matter. But I think that it will.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think for those people that you know, are
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: really interested in the story, Like I hope that, yeah,
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: seeing all these extra scenes will the eye opening and
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: maybe we'll get more book readers because then, like I
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: said earlier with Game of Thrones, right, maybe it'll inspire
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: more people to want to.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Read the books.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean I think too, I hope that
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: we also just get it. I know we've talked a
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: lot about character moments of like our big characters, but
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: I also hope we get to see like other little
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: things like I don't know, like with Fred and George
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: and like well you know them after they leave Hogwarts
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: and you know, setting up the joke shop and them
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: getting like Harry's Triwizard Tournament money, like like just like
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: those little things and those little interactions that like, of
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: course we're never gonna make the movies. But I think
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: are just really like wholesome things and good for character
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: and things that were going on in the background that
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: obviously were important enough to.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: Make them into the pages of the book. Yeah.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: And I mean again, like we said, we could talk
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: about this section forever, because there's a million things I
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: can think of that I hope we see.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: But well, maybe we'll just have to revisit it.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Not a time.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: I know, I need to like do a reread and
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: like flag all my pages of like I hope.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: This is in the show. I hope this is in
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: the show.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I can, Yeah, I can think of a ton.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: I just also hope that like we get more like
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: serious black in the show. Yeah, yeah, I hope, like
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: and I think to your point, I think that would
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: also play in a lot with if they do more
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: with Order of the Phoenix and like the meetings with
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: the adults and everything, and that would obviously bring him in,
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: you know, a lot more. I think that it's Unfortunately
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: the movies, it's a very quick thing with him, right,
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: Like we get this introduction of who he is, we
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: learn he's not bad, and then all of a sudden,
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: you know, we get this brief little thing of him
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: and goblet of fire in the fire and then we
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: kind of just that's like it, and then he just
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: pops up in order of the Phoenix and then dies.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and we don't even get him with buck Beak
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: and like buck Beak living at Grimmel Place. No, I'm singing,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: God rest you very hippogriffs.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Like there's so many like, oh my god, I just
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: I just love Sirius so much. There's so many like
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: moments there. And I think to even like, you know,
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: to the way the movies kind of have to rush
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: his character don't necessarily do a great job at explaining
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: like why Harry has such a reaction to him dying.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: I mean we know why, right, Like he he's the
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: closest person he has to his parents and he just
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: got him back in his life and now he's taken
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: from him. So it makes sense why Harry like feels
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: that way. But I think, like there's so much more
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: to like their relationship. Yeah that just doesn't get touched
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: on in the movies, but could have the opportunity to
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: expand on in the show.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh, there's so many opportunities.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: They better just plan to make those later books like
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: fifteen episodes.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: Yep, we don't wonder about money constraints and anything.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: Obviously, please don't overwork anybody to film everything.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: But let's go back to the days when like.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Shows were like fifteen to twenty episodes a season, like Supernatural,
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: like that show, like those are really long seasons.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: Let's go back to that.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: It's about to leave, grab on to the pok key,
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: all right. So for our porty segment, we wanted to
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: talk about something going on at the Harry Potter New
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: York Store. So if you're heading to New York City
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: this summer, there's a new scavenger hunt going on at
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: the Harry Potter New York Store, and it's inspired by
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Fantastic Peace. Yay, we love it when Fantastic Beasts gets
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: some attention. So when you walk into the store, there's
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: a newspaper vending case with copies of The New York
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Ghost in it, which is the newspaper from those films,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: and that newspaper holds your instructions for the scavenger hunt,
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: which the newspaper itself is a cute little souvenir. The
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: illustrations are really nice. So the way this works. There
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: are Niffler sculptures hidden throughout the store and you have
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: to find them all. So each Niffler has a corresponding
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: illustration in the newspaper, so you can mark them off
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: as complete when you find them. And once you find
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: them all, you can show your completed newspaper to a
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: staff member for a prize, which the prize is not
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: super impressive. Gonna say, it's just a sticker. The button
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: that was given out for the Christmas one also wasn't
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: super impressive, but I think was better than a sticker.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: But the sticker's cue it has a Niffler on it.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: It's about the experience. Yeah, it's a fun doing.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: It, like we just got that button, but I think
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: it was really fun to do it, and it really
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: tested our knowledge. And I was gonna say, this sounds
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: much easier, yes, than what we did for the Christmas time.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't see anything about word scrambles. Maybe there is,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: and maybe I'm mistaken, but this looks a little bit
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: more straightforward. But honestly, like I said, like the newspaper's
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: super cute, and like I would keep the newspaper as
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: a souvenir.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: So nice.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: Well, I like that the store is kind of always
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: adding little things like this to I guess encourage return visits,
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: and then while you're there you're probably gonna buy something.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: But it it's fun. I think that. I think we
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: said this before. I just I just love that all this,
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: like especially the New York Store, It's like it's more
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: than just a store. Like I just like that they
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: have experiences as part of it too.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: So yeah, it's anoious.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: So in last episode, we asked the question do you
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: think the centaurs know more than they let on? And
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: we got some really good responses from Jerry about this,
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: and Jerry said, I think the centaurs do have some
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: deep wisdom and can see trends by their stargazing. However,
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: many of them also share a weakness of being very
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: species centered, only really caring about how things impact centaurs
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: and to a lesser extent other magical folks like unicorns
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: and mayor people.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: Friends.
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: Seems to be one of the few to see his
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: duty to society and the world as a whole and
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: decide to try to help against evil, even if that
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: evil isn't at the moment directed against centaurs. He realizes
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: that once evil has control, it will start looking to
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: destroy or use or abuse more groups. The rest would
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: be appalled if they realized they were almost as bigoted
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: as Professor Umbrage. She thinks only magical witches and wizards
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: are important, and they feel almost the same about centaurs.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: I will say that I agree with this. I think
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: that there's a reason why Friends gets kind of like
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: ostracized from the rest is because he does meddle as
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: they would say a little bit more with the humans.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: And I think that the centaurs absolutely, to your point,
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: do know more than they let on, but they're very
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: selective in who they share that with. And I think
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: if the centaurs shared more about what they thought, it
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: would have greater impact. But they kind of to you know,
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: your point that you made there, Jerry, is their very
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: species centered so it's like we know this, but you
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: stupid humans don't.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: So good luck, which.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: They end up being impacted anyway, the centers do, so
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: like why they wouldn't speak up and maybe something could
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: be done sooner before it gets to the point of,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: you know, the Battle of Hogwarts where they have to
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: be involved in the battle, like maybe you know, wouldn't
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: have had to have been.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: I think, to Jerry's point, like it's their weakness of
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: being just a little too self centered and not thinking
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: that things are going to impact them because they just
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: stay out of things, right, they stay out of the affairs,
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: but not.
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: At the end of the day. Yeah, not our problem.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: We know what's gonna have, but it's not our problem
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: until it was too late and it became their problem too.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Jerry also shared some thoughts just about astronomy in general
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: in the books and said, I admit to being confused
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: as to why the students at Hogwarts study astronomy for
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: a minimum of five years.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: That actually is a really long time.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: Jerry says, I don't see it as being used that
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: much compared with subjects like postion, charms, or transfiguration or
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: herbology that, along with history of magic, seem to make
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: up the core curriculum. Now, I admit that history of
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: magic as taught by Bin seems pretty useful also, but
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: in fact history is important. Those who don't remember history
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: are condemned to repeat it. I have developed the theory
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: that the real reason that the author had the students
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: taking astronomy was to be sure that they and the
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: readers were all accustomed to the Astronomy Tower, often repeated
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: and stressed as the tallest tower in Hogwart's Castle. It
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: is the scene of at least three very important events.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: The transfer of Norbert to Charlie's friends, the capture of
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Harry and Hermione, getting them detention and massive loss of
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: house points. Next, the student's viewing of Hagrid's arrest and
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: the stunning of Professor McGonagall during the Astronomy Owl practical exam,
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: and of course the killing of Dumbledore. Other than set
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: up for that, I really think the other classes would
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: have been more useful and are interesting to fill that spot,
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: so many that I don't have time to list them all.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: But just one other unrelated curriculum issue on the first
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: year book list is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: But the students don't take a magical creature class until
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: their third year, and the textbook then is the Monster
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: Book of Monsters. I wonder if they ever actually use
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: Nut's book as a class textbook, although we know from
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: the margin notes in the first muggle Worthy edition put
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: out for charity that Harry and Ron read and enjoyed
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: the book, and I feel like Harry and Ron wouldn't
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: have just read the book unless they had to.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: So I feel like they probably had to read it
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: for something.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: I was wondering if they maybe had to read it
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: for defense against the dark arts, because I mean, in
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Lupin's classes, we see a lot of creatures introduced. Even
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: Lockhart has the Pixies. I know this is a movie scene,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: but Quirrel, when we see him teaching, he's like, hold,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: he's got that. Yeah, so maybe maybe for that class
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: might relate to magical creatures. But yeah, I agree about
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: the astronomy tower though. I do think it is used
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: quite a bit for like setting and to give them
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: a bird's eye view of certain things, and like what
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: better reason to be outside really high up than stargazing,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: So yeah, I think it probably that's probably quite a
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: bit of it. Yeah, So our discussion question for this
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: episode is what book moment are you hoping to see
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: included in the Harry Potter HBO series. We would love
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: to hear from you, so you can drop us an
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: email at Ravellio Podcast staff at gmail dot com, or
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: reach out to us on social media. You can find
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: us on Facebook at Facebook dot com, backslash reveliocast on
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Instagram and TikTok at Revellio podcast on Twitter and YouTube
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: at Revellio Underscore Podcast. You can also support the show
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: on Patreon at patreon dot com, backslash Refellio Podcast. We've
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: got a lot of extras on there, including some extended
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: conversations and bonus content, so go ahead and check that out.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: All right, Well, I feel like now we have all
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: these episode ideas just after recording this one discussion that
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I have to go and put in our planning sheet.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: Now, yeah, I think I feel like lots of character
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: deep dives coming because we just seem to focus a
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: lot on the character moments. But yeah, no, I think
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: that I'm glad we did this episode because obviously, I
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: know we've talked about some of these things in other episodes,
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: but it's been obviously a little quiet on the Western
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: front as it comes to the show since we got
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: kind of that onslaught of trailer and documentary and then
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: it's just kind of been quiet.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: So interesting to see what we get over the summer.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: I feel like things should pick up because we're gonna
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: start setting into marketing season.
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: So we're about six months out now that it's June,
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: so Christmas in July.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Maybe that means we get Harry Potter in July too.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: Because maybe for Harry's birthday do we get something? Maybe
