- In-Person: That's okay. Rhythmic ball play. Mike: Season six is here We're back Season six I can't believe it It's crazy We're all here too Paul's got a new background What's up sir? paul: It is so good to Joe: And he's muted. paul: be back. It's so I'm not mute. You did you mute me? Joe: You were. No, you were. Mid season form, brother. paul: Love you guys. Miss you guys. Ready for a new season, new beginnings. Here we go. Let's go. Mike: Ball's got a new camera. They're bad a thousand Joe: It's season form. Jamal Smith: I love the mute. I love the mute. I love the mute. paul: Pre season Billys. Free s preseason everybody. Jamal Smith: That shit was too intense for you guys to hear. That's why I muted it. But yes, my camera is 4K ish. In-Person: Rhythmic ball play. Jamal Smith: I I I I feel like my voice is probably paul: Yeah. Jamal Smith: a little muddled. But here we are, ready paul: We'll work with it. Jamal Smith: to go. It's preseason! Mike: Chris is in a new hotel with sunlight. Risi: I mean, yeah, there it is the sun it is the the surface of the sun outside. I mean lovely Phoenix here, hundred and fifteen degrees, but I am so happy to happy to be back for Eagles football. So this is good. Mike: And we we need the room service guy to set up the food behind you while you're live. That would be amazing. No, like Risi: I will s I will turn the camera for that too 'cause I Mike: tell him I I want I want it back there. Just point to the table back there. Joe: Yeah, right behind you. Risi: You know we might have a special guest on tonight. Mike: Put can you put it on the cock chair? Joe's here. His background's not Joe: What's up? Mike: different. He's got a green shirt on though. Joe: Yeah, I got a green shirt on. Have you guys ever gone to like City Field? Or have you you've never been to City Field? So Mike: No. I've never Jamal Smith: No, never been there. Mike: been to any New York stadium except for Giant Stadium. Risi: I I've been the Yankee Stadium. Joe: Yeah. So I went to City Field last weekend to see just a baseball game like mess around New York City for a couple days. And I thought for sure that when you went to City Field and you watched the New York Mets and a player on the Mets hits a home run, that you're supposed to reach over to the guy to your right and give him a handjob. Apparent apparently that's not what happens. All they Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha. Joe: have is this apple In-Person: That's okay. Joe: that comes up in center field. I was completely caught off guard. Mike: So is the guy next to you. So is the guy. Jamal Smith: Huh. Mike: Somebody was happy. Joe: Fuck the Mets. Seventeen games out. Mike: that's great. Jamal Smith: I love it. I love it. Mike: Well, w we're at the final week of Eagles training camp. Tonight is actually the live in person public access that you gotta pay ten dollars to go to practice. and Friday's the final preseason game against who are we playing? The Bengals. roster cut down's right around the corner, and tonight we're gonna talk a little bit about all that, what's going on, some storylines from camp, and maybe we'll talk about the two picks that Jalen Hurts has already thrown tonight. yeah. paul: Ooh. Joe: yeah. I think they're Jamal Smith: Tonight, Jesus. Joe: already talking about it on WIP, I think. paul: Yeah, well listen. Mike: Yeah. But he but but there's been a couple of over the middle passing touchdowns that have happened tonight too. So we we we we can balance it out. We'll talk about that though tonight a little bit. but before that we'll start off with Paul. He's got our first story of the year about the final week of camp and the public practice that I'm already talking about. Go ahead, Paul. paul: So as Mike talked about, yes, tonight is the final practice for preseason for the for the fans. Usually they used to do it twice a year. I miss those Lehigh days when I used to travel to Lehigh. That was they were fun. Did any of you guys go to Lehigh? Mike: I went w one time, yeah. Joe: I did it once when I was a kid. Jamal Smith: One time, one time only. paul: Yeah, I went with TO, so I left at four o'clock in the morning and the line was already down the road. If you knew about Joe: Oof. paul: anything about Lehigh, it was like one road in and one road out. Mike: Mm-hmm. paul: So the traffic was insane. But yes. No, I didn't go with didn't go with TO, but I did go with a group of friends. That was the good Mike: So you went with Teo? That's the question that I you w That's Okay. paul: old deeds though, man. But yeah, so like Mike said, the final practices tonight for the fans. One chance to see, and then it was packed from the signs. From the scenes on Twitter. It looked it looked jam-packed. so with the practice, it's gonna be the final look for the press this week. So they had practice yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and then on off day Thursday, and then the final preseason game. And then we'll get into the that's when the cuts happen and all of that good stuff. The fifty-three man roster gets settled. I don't really think there's too many things that's up for Mike: Shocking. paul: grabs other than the backup quarterback situation, but we'll get into that later. Mike: But i the thing I want to ask, like for these public practices that they do once a year now and they actually make you pay to go, well it's a donation. I'll take that back. It's a donation, but you still pay. Yeah. paul: Autism, Autism Foundation. Mike: that's not a yeah, altism found it's their it's our foundation. paul: Yep. Mike: but like i is it really a true practice that's going on right now, or is this just Joe: No. Mike: like what can we do to show the fans something exciting? So that's why like when I made the comment about the the the two picks, like that's not really that big of a deal they threw two picks in this practice for me because he's just Trying to be exciting on the field, right? Risi: It's a good story though. Mike: Yeah, I mean it's gonna get ran with. I mean, we already know that the New England Patriots fan base ran with everything that happened last week because I saw so many tweets lost in the first day of group practice, lost the second day of group practice, lost the preseason game. and we have AJ Brown. I was like Jamal Smith: Ha ha Mike: Like, come on. But yeah, I I don't really think like tonight, us watching it as fans, it's cool to see players, especially if you don't get to go to a game. paul: Yeah. Mike: But like we're not seeing anything from this. It's gonna be like a takeaway in my opinion. Joe: Yeah, you're watching just extended seven on seven drill. That's that's really all it Mike: Yeah. Joe: is. It's for I don't know however long they go, they're doing seven on sevens. It's not even like a real practice. You know, they I don't I mean, I've never been the one, but from what I understand, they come out, they warm up, and then it's seven on sevens like ninety minutes. You get to see the starters go first and then you know, they start rotating in reserves kinda as it winds down. yeah, it's just seven on seven. I think it's good because I mean, guys, if you have a family of four. And you want to go to an Eagles game and let's say you sit upper level. paul: Yeah. Joe: I mean, you're talking about like a six or seven hundred dollar day at least, right? Risi: At least. Joe: To park tickets. Mike: Paul, what's face value on your seat? You sit lower, upper level. What's Yeah, that's paul: About two hundred. Two hundred. Mike: crazy. Joe: It's two h it's like two hundred bucks, that's face value up there. That's paul: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Joe: nuts. So you're talking about eight hundred bucks just for tickets. You know, and then fifty dollars to park, seventy to park wherever you park. And then even if you don't eat anything, you're almost at nine hundred bucks. I mean, it's crazy. Mike: Yeah, it Jamal Smith: That's insanity. Mike: and it well well Chris and I went to SmackDown a few weeks ago and we were sitting in the seats just like watching and somebody was walking around selling stuff and all we heard was eighteen dollars and we were like eighteen dollars for fucking popcorn and then we looked over and we were like, No, that's cotton candy. Cotton candy is eighteen dollars. Yeah, it's air Risi: That was for Todd Candy. Not not even the pile on this. Jamal Smith: Jesus. Just sugar. Just just sugar. paul: Yeah. Risi: The the gritty run, right? I do the gritty run everywhere. They give you free tickets. Now they have a way to like, you know, get lower level. I like added I got the gritty run, my free flyers tickets. And then I was like, okay, I'll go lower level. Just to do the adder for lower level was like an additional five hundred dollars. I said I paul: Yeah. Risi: said, What? These are supposed to be free. Joe: we're giving we're giving you an opportunity to sit lower level and you click on it and it's like four hundred and eighty-five dollars. It's like what? Mike: Yeah, a way to get your money, Philadelphia. Risi: Yeah. paul: And the concessions, you know, tonight were packed, you know, people buying beers, food. Mike: of course. And and it and I'm sure it was limited concessions tonight too. It wasn't like the full run. It was just the, you know, few. And it was the Joe: Lower level was open, that's Mike: thirty dollar Risi: Mm-hmm. Mike: the thirty dollar chicken fingers. No, I'm I'm exaggerating, they're not that much. I they're like eighteen Jamal Smith: The thirty dollar chicken fingers. Well Well Mike: bucks. Jamal Smith: Well it paul: But as far as Jamal Smith: might as well be. paul: as far as tonight Mike: Yeah. paul: goes, who's the player if you guys did go that you would key on tonight? Just if you had the opportunity to see in practice. Is there anybody? We can go around the horn. Risi: i if I had to go, I yeah, I I'll go. It was the it's the discounted merch is what I would look out for tonight. Joe: Yeah. Mike: yeah, that is a they do have the sidewalk sale where you can get the twenty dollar AJ Brown jersey. Joe: Yeah, yeah. Risi: Yeah. paul: I like that. I Mike: That I mean that is a that is true. paul: like that. Jamal Smith: Ha ha Joe: Remember that? That was a classic. Mike: for me, Mikhail Lemon, it's the first one he's back, right? Like I mean he came back this week and it's the first paul: Yeah. Mike: time the I mean, it's the first time the public's gonna get to see him, so that would be the big one. 'Cause he was paul: Yeah. Mike: only there the beginning of camp and then he got hurt like right away, right? paul: Right away, right away. So it's not good. Who you got, Joe? Who would you like Mike: Yeah. Joe. paul: to see? Joe: I would really focus on the relationship between Jalen Hurts and his wide receivers, particularly AJ Brown. he's not on the team anymore, right? Mike: Wait got so confused right there. I was like, Wait, what's going on? Joe: been it's been it's been so quiet, it's hard to even tell. There really hasn't been any real kind of off season controversy news and you know whatnot, other than I think we're gonna get into a little bit later who's gonna be the backup quarterback, which is like the kind of talk that you have Mike: That's been the Yeah. Joe: on a normal football team that doesn't have the kind of nonsense going on that we've had for the last couple of years. So but mostly just the kind of balls that that that Jalen Hurts is throwing in this offense compared to last year. Is he throwing In-Person: Rhythmic ball play. Joe: more to the middle? he's thrown some interceptions. Remember last year, he didn't throw a single interception in camp, something like that. Who is that? was keeping track of it and LF Mike: Yeah. Yeah. Elliot Shure Parks. Joe: Short Parks, he was keeping track of it every Jamal Smith: ESP. Joe: week. Every week. no interceptions for Jalen. Well, it's very risk averse behavior. Yeah. Yeah. Mike: That would be the time to take yeah, that'd be the time to take the chances and possibly throw an interception. But you know. Joe: So mostly just Jalen Hurts, you know, his back's up against the wall this year, I guess. It's like another proof of year for him. He's had quite a few of those in his career in college and in the pros and he's come through every time. So that's who I'd be paying attention to. Mike: Did we miss it? Chmal. paul: Jamal. Jamal Smith: Me. So I was actually gonna say, at first I was gonna say Makai Lemon, but then it reminded me of a point that I didn't quite get out when we were first talking about his interceptions. My eyes will be on Jalen Hurts. I am not positive that these interceptions are necessarily a bad thing, 'cause I'm hoping that means he's taking chances that he was unwilling to take when he was being conservative. And that is clearly not going to work in the current offense that we are trying to run. Honestly, I don't care if If he looks bad taking chances for, I don't know, even into week two or week three, as long as he can pull it together. I wanna see him fully devoting himself to trying to be the kind of quarterback that fits in the offense that we're running, even if it means breaking a couple of eggs. So he would be the person I'd admire. Mike: Yeah, and and it looks like they're putting him in them uncomfortable situations. He's thrown over the middle a lot. And paul: A lot. Mike: that's awesome. Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Mike: It's great, 'cause that's what we want, right? Like we want him to do that. And they're saying that what he looks faster now too. I've heard a couple things. They saying he looks a lot faster when he breaks out of pocket. So Jamal Smith: I've heard it. Mike: maybe maybe it will be I I mean I am actually excited again for this year. I like I wasn't really excited for last year. It was kind of just it is what it was, but like this year, definitely I am excited. Joe: One thing that I said before we started recording, like if I was coaching staff, I would tell Jalen Hurts this year, if you throw one interception every game, that one that's on the house. We're not even gonna talk about it. Cause we want you to take the chances and operate the offense the way it needs to be off operated. And now not an expert, but it seems like it's a little bit more wide open. You're throwing the ball in the middle a little bit more, interceptions are gonna happen. So Mike: Mm-hmm. Joe: I th I said I think we're gonna see some games where he throws for, you know, three hundred with three touchdowns and two picks. You know, we're gonna see that a few times this year, I think. And that might not necessarily be a bad thing. Mike: I don't think so either. And I I think that actually segues in perfectly to story number two that Jamal has talking about her new wide receiver room and the absence of one AJ Brown. But we did get some of that excitement back last week when we played them. But anyway, let's talk about the new w the new room. Jamal Smith: Yes, Devonta Smith and Makai Lemon are back. Very exciting, very exciting. the wide receiver looks very different. This is a based on the story from Philly Voice and Bleeding Green Nation. Devontae Smith and rookie Makai Lemon returned his full practice participants on Monday for the first time since August third. Lemon reportedly went right back in with the first team offense and got targets immediately, including work against Cooper DeGene. Lemon has also talked about needing to be more professional off the field, which is worth discussing because missing most of the camp as a first round rookie puts pressure on how quickly he can earn the trust of his quarterback and the rest of the offense for that matter. The receiver room now has two stories at once: getting healthy at the top and figuring out who survives at the bottom. I mean, obviously Makai Lemon and Devante Smith float right to the top of everybody's minds when it comes to the receivers. But we also have a couple other guys in there who are new. W Wicks. What what is his first name? I know it is it's leaving. Mike: It's it's d is it's not Devante, it's what the hell is it Devon it Davy yeah, De Tavion paul: Did did the Davion or something? Jamal Smith: I was just I was trying to I I Risi: The Tavion. Jamal Smith: was just trying to get one of the light people to say it. I'm sorry. paul: Or or just say brick hands, brick hands, 'cause he drops a lot of balls. Mike: But but but so but supposedly him and Jalen have been forming a little bit of a a bond. Dontavian Jamal Smith: Yeah. paul: Don Tavian. There it is. Jamal Smith: Don Tavian Wix, yes, yes, yes, yes. Mike: Him and Jalen have supposedly formed a little bit of a of a bond relationship and they were saying while Lemon was out that he was looking like he was an easy fit for number two. And then I mean we also Risi: That's a scapegoat. Mike: we also have Hollywood Brown. I just don't think he's as fast as people or he used to be. And I don't Jamal Smith: No. Mike: But the Woods is in kid looks good. why Cooper, thank you. Yeah. paul: Cooper. Cooper. Yep. Jamal Smith: Cooper. Cooper. He's been showing out, man. Mike: He looks very physical. He looks like pot not I'm not gonna say he is AJ Brown level, but that type of receiver, f the physical receiver that can go up and grab a ball and push somebody around. he looked good last week in the preseason game. Jamal Smith: No, he definitely did. asking you guys though, 'cause obviously Lemon is the the big ticket item that we picked up in the draft. And a lot of people are very concerned. how badly do you think three weeks off has hurt this man when it comes to when he starts week one? 'Cause he's probably gonna I don't know if he'll start week one, but he'll be in. How do you think he's gonna look with so little practice at NFL level? Joe: start if you guys Mike: Yeah, got. Joe: it hurts a lot for wide receivers missing three weeks of camp as a rookie is really really puts you at a disadvantage because historically as a rookie as a wide receiver in the NFL a lot of times it takes a couple years for it to really click and missing camp learning a new offense getting a relationship with that quarterback playing at game speed not doing that Really, really hurts a rookie. So I would ask people to be patient with Mikhail Lemon. Give it a few weeks. I would say give it half a year before you really start seeing meaningful production from this guy. Playing wide receiver in the NFL is so hard because the cornerbacks are so good compared to what you face Mike: Yeah. Joe: in college. Mike: You're going against what? The top two percent of the cornerbacks that you ever saw in college, you're now gonna go against? Joe: You're basically yeah, you're gonna basically be playing against probably one of the best corners that you ever played against in college every single week. You know. Jamal Smith: Every week. Mike: Yeah, and the shittiest cornerback you're going against is the best cornerback you played in college at some point. Joe: Yep. Yeah. So it takes a while for these guys to learn, especially if you're going up against older guys who's got years in the league. They know a lot of tricks, they know how to get inside your head. You know, it's he's got a lot to learn. And I think he's gonna be a solid player, but he's gonna need some time. So just be patient. They're gonna have to lean on guys like Hollywood Brown and Wicks a lot more than hopefully they do down the road, especially this maybe this entire first season, but at least for the first half. I'd be very surprised if he came out on fire and like putting up numbers like in the beginning of the season. Mike: Yeah, I don't I I mean he had a walk in touchdown tonight, but I I I that's again, this is the practi Joe: Seven on seven. Mike: yeah, exactly. So I don't know if that's really a thing or not to think about. But I I don't know. I think I agree with you. I think him not being able to be playing at game speed or NFL level speed for the first five weeks is really gonna hurt him. Risi: To kind of piggyback off of Joe with the patience thing. That's kind of how looking at the whole season, not just at Makai Lemon. I think you you nailed it where this is a disadvantage for a a rookie wide receiver in and missing those reps. But I I the patience to me, there is going back earlier to AJ Brown not being here and making jokes about it, this whole season to me is. Patience. Like I'm just I'm so looking forward to this season. I'm not sure what to expect going into it, but I am going into this season with that much patience because I I feel like the the nucleus is rebuilt and it's going to take a little time to get that co you know, that cohesiveness back together. And that's not gonna it's gonna be a little bit bumpy, but I'm I'm I'm excited for it. So I I he if he produces right away, that's fantastic. I just think that's more luck than anything. But that's this is gonna take some time to get to get right. Not just Makai, but the whole team. Joe: One one more thing about Mikhail Lemon in practice, I hope they're telling guys like Cooper DeGin and Quignan to really put it on him because he's Mike: Yeah, like give Joe: not going to be playing against guys of that level in the NFL. And if they dominate him in practice and teach him when he's playing against a lesser corner, and we all know in the NFL there are plenty of corners that aren't nearly as good as the two guys we have, it will help him in the long run. So they need to really put it on his ass in practice all year. Every time you have a rep against Lemon, I want everything. You know, that's what the coaches hopefully that's what they're saying to Quinyan and Cooper DeG. Risi: Put it on his ace, that's what I heard. Jamal Smith: Got anything poor? Got anything poor? Risi: Paul's vibe. Mike: He's five. Jamal Smith: shit, he's vibing out, baby. Well while while while Paul vibes, I do have one last question about this receiver room because obviously the the big draft pick and Devontae both suffered from hamstring injuries that really, really hampered their preseason. Are you all worried? hamstrings are the kind of injury that will pop up out of nowhere and eliminate two to four weeks of a of a receiver's season or any player's season. How concerned should we be about these injuries? Joe: I I'm I'm more concerned about Makai Lemon than and just just because of w how it affected the rest of his camp and his time and Jamal Smith: Yeah. Joe: his reps. But I Devontae Smith doesn't really need the camp reps. He's a vet at this point. so that's that's just Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: Bye bye, yeah. Makes sense. Joe: him caution. Yeah. Yeah. Mike: Y you just need him to knock the little bit of rust from the pro the off season off, but that wouldn't take you know, an extreme amount of time. Exactly. Except Joe: And he's doing that over the next two weeks. You know what I mean? He's gonna be fine. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: he played last week in the practices against the second day I think he came back and practiced against the the the Patriots. Joe: Yeah. And you know, wide receivers of the NFL, there's a lot of them play with kind of screwed up hamstrings like the whole year. Like their hammies Mike: Yeah. Joe: are always bothering them. So this could be just one of those. If Risi: AJ Brown last year. Joe: it was like regular season game reps, you know, you're playing the, you know, the commanders next week. You know, Smith is gonna be in there. You know what I mean? He's gonna be ready for the he's gonna play the game. But it's preseason camp. He doesn't need the reps, he doesn't need the work. He's a vet now, so you just let him sit out, let him get to be a hundred percent. Mike: But all right, so and and I don't Jamal, I don't know if you're gonna ask this. Like, but do we think Makkay's got the second sewed up? Joe: No. He's a slot receiver. Jamal Smith: How? Yeah, how? Mike: Yeah. Joe: I don't think he's a number two. He's a slot. Oliver Mike: Who goes in the number two spot? Hollywood or Joe: Brown. Mike: not Ontavian? Joe: Well it'll be it's a battle between them two. I think they might see equal playing time, but I think right now I think Hollywood Brown's at the top of the depth chart for the second wide receiver. You know, and Lemmon is is the slot receiver, which for all intents and purposes in most offenses is a starting wide receiver because they're on the field for seventy five percent of the plays. So yeah. Mike: Starting yeah. Yep. But does Jamal Smith: Yeah, it's a starting. Risi: We've s we've had a luxury the past couple of years though. Mike: but does he get that three spot or is it i is it Smitty, Dontavian, Joe: Hmm. Mike: and Hollywood Brown? Joe: No, he's he's he's getting he's gonna play in the slot. 'Cause that's what they drafted him to be. They I'm pretty sure they drafted him to play in the slot. So he needs the reps. Even if he isn't productive in the slot, he's gonna get the reps. Because one thing he should be able to do right now is beat a linebacker. And that's Jamal Smith: Yeah. Joe: what happens to your slot receiver. Sometimes Mike: Yeah. Joe: a linebacker, outside linebacker, has to cut has to cover you. If you're in man coverage or whatever, you can force it. It's a mismatch. That's he he needs to be able to beat those guys like right now, and I think he can. So it's good for him to get early success, you know, even if he is beating the crap out of linebackers that are, you know, not nearly as quick as he is. Mike: Well, if we ever have to go to a backup quarterback and see who throws to him, Chris is gonna tell us a little bit about Tanner McKee and the roster turning and the final preseason game. Maybe talk a little bit about the Red Rocket. Joe: Ha ha ha Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha Risi: You know, how do I tell a story warrant? How we talk about the red rocket here. Tanner McKee, so In-Person: That's okay. Risi: the the Backup quarterback situation remains a camp story with Tanner McKee continuing to be watched closely as the team headswords the final preseason game. So in here what we have is who's who's been starting more? Tanner McKee or or is it the Red Rocket right now? Joe: The red rifle. Mike: The red road. Joe: His name is Dogmoner. Okay. Jamal Smith: Who would have thought we'd have the Red Rocket versus Jewish Bazooka? Like, why don't they talk about this more? In-Person: I'm over here stroking my dick. I got lotion on my dick right now. I'm just Joe: Who is a Jewish duca? Risi: Yeah. Mike: But the war the Jewish bazooka The was Tanner McKay No he was the Polish it was it was we we found out he the Mormon missile but it was also but but bas No, no no Joe: Who was that? Risi: I for Yeah. Jamal Smith: He's not. I don't think I don't believe he is. Wait, he was the Mormon missile, the Mormon missile. Joe: He's He's not even Jew, right? Risi: No. Joe: Hmm. that's right. And Mike was like, What is he the Jewish bazooka or something? Risi: Yeah. Mike: no Jamal called him the Jewish bazooka Risi: Mm-hmm. Mike: So we made a t shirt for it So we made Joe: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jamal Smith: I still loved him even if he was a Jewish bazooka, just so that's out there. Risi: Yeah, it Joe: Ha ha. Mike: my god. Risi: so we've we've got official backup quarterback controversy. Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Risi: Who we going with? We go we who Mike: Well, I mean, right now, I wanna call him the thinner one. I wanna call him the the the Red Rockets. Like it's really my But right now it's Andy Dalton. he's but but he's he's played as the backup in every preseason game as of right now. Which and he looks fucking horrible. He looks god awful. Like I Jamal Smith: It's over. It's over for him. Joe: So Mike: I I mean good. Joe: I ha I have a a theory about what they're doing, In-Person: Hello there. Joe: I think. I think if it gets down to a point where Jalen Hurts needs to miss a game or two and you really need to win these games and it's later in the season, I don't think it's gonna be Andy Dalton. I think it'll be Tanner McKee. Okay. Mike: Gotta be. Risi: It's gotta be. Joe: I think what they're probably doing right now is the was the quarterback. What's the name of the guy that he did they drafted? I forget. The dude from North Dakota. Mike: the new kid. Yeah. Risi: Cole Payton, Cole Payton. Mike: yeah. Great name. It's like the other it's like the running back. Two great porn names. Joe: Old Peyton. Interesting. Yeah. And we'll talk about him too. Mike: Two great porn names. In-Person: Number one is hard. Joe: Interesting prospect, this guy is. a lot of teams are keeping their eye on him. So I think the Eagles ideally would like to keep they would, I Mike: They're keeping our eye on Andy Dalton or Cole Payton? Joe: think they would like to keep all three quarterbacks on the roster. But to do that, one of them would have to go to the practice squad. Tanner McKee ain't going to practice squad. He'll get claimed. Mike: No, yeah. Joe: You don't play Cole Payton or whatever his name is. Wasn't it Cole Payton? If you don't play Cole Payton, You can probably sneak him just onto the practice squad. Jamal Smith: Mm Mike: 'Cause they'll never see you. I get what you're saying. Joe: He doesn't get any reps, you know, nobody really knows. In-Person: Hello there. Joe: You might be able to sneak him on there. So that may be what they're trying to do. Mike: Maybe or they trying or was the initial thought to parade the red rocket out there, get people excited for it and they're Joe: No. Nobody w no he was available. Anyone could have signed him. Risi: Nobody. Mike: like, Look at that thing, it's huge. Risi: Why would we Jamal Smith: Ha Risi: draft Cole Payton then just to put him on the practice squad and when you have, you know, Andy Dalton as your third on on that? I don't understand that that play. Jamal Smith: And the dog. In-Person: Hello there. Joe: Drafted Jalen Hurts when we had Carson Wentz when we thought he was gonna be an Mike: Yeah. Joe: MVP, remember? Risi: Yeah, but we kept we kept Jalen Hurts on the team though, right? He didn't go to practice. Joe: What we said, why Mike: Yeah, like Ja Joe: did we draft Jalen Hurts? Risi: But why would you put core Peton? Mike: But but but but I get recruited saying Jalen went on the field during preseason and played. Like you're gonna stow away what's his name to the practice? Cole Joe: Yeah. Mike: Cole Payton. Joe: I I'm just I'm trying In-Person: Hello there. Risi: Yeah. Jamal Smith: They were Joe: to justify maybe why they're doing what they're doing and not naming Tanner Mike: No, no, I I I'm following you. Joe: McKee and giving this other guy more time. 'Cause I by b bait I test, Andy Dalton should be cut. Like they should just cut him. Mike: Is there a relationship is Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: there a relationship between Sean Mannion? Jamal Smith: He might be cut. Mike: Is there a relationship between Sean Mannion and Andy Dalton? Where where did Andy Dalton Joe: Not that I know of. Not that I've heard of. Mike: come? Where did he come? Joe: Since he was a Bengal for a long time. Mike: No, that was that was yeah, that was a long time ago. Jamal Smith: Yeah. That was a thousand years ago. Then he was in D I think he was on Dallas for a little bit. Joe: Yeah, he was there. Jamal Smith: he's been on like every team. Mike: Andy Dalton stats. Let's go back. Andy Dalt Jamal Smith: Well like, hold up. Mike: Carolina. He was recently in Carolina. Joe: Yeah. He was down there. Mike: North Carolina Jamal Smith: He may get cut though. Mike: Carolina, New Orleans, Chicago, Dallas, Cincinnati. Joe: Everywhere. Everywhere. Mike: Cincinnati Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: for well from eleven Dan is how old is he? He was in Cincinnati from eleven to nineteen. Dallas and twenty. Joe: This is like his fourth this is like his sixteenth year in the league or something. It's crazy. Mike: Dallas Jamal Smith: Yeah, Mike: in twenty, Jamal Smith: it's called. Mike: Chicago in twenty one, North New Orleans in twenty two, Carolina twenty three, twenty four, and twenty five. Andy Dalton is aged thirty eight. That's not right. Is it thirty eight? Nineteen eighty seven? Thirty yeah, I guess that's right. Jamal Smith: Sucks, right? Yeah. Risi: Case thirty eight. He's gonna be Jamal Smith: He does like the Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: exact opposite of Joe Flacco though. He comes on teams and he just fucking sucks. I don't think he ever makes any impact on any team. Like Joe Flacco will at least like pretend like he's gonna take him somewhere for a little bit. Mike: Well he he had all right, so he had a couple decent years in Cincinnati. So his second year they were ten Jamal Smith: He did. Mike: and six, eleven and five, ten and five, ten and three. Joe: I think the last time they Jamal Smith: He was good Joe: won a playoff Jamal Smith: there. Joe: game he was Mike: Yeah, and then he went to Dallas. He was four and five in Dallas. He played eleven games. And then in Chicago, he played eight games. He was three and three. In New Orleans, he played fourteen games. Six Jamal Smith: I don't even remember that. Mike: and eight in twenty twenty two. Joe: Yeah. Yep. Mike: He played three games in Carolina and he he was he he didn't finish them. He was and one and One and four in the second year he was there and one and again. Yeah. So Jamal Smith: He's not good. Mike: no. Risi: Just caught him. Mike: And what did he do well what did he even do last year? Let's look. He had Twenty five completions on thirty seven attempts in four games. He was sixty seven percent for completion percentage. He had two hundred ninety three yards, one touchdown, one interception. His longest pass was thirty three yards. Yeah. He had a seventy three he Joe: He sucks. They should just caught him. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: he had a seventy th he had an wait, was his QBR? He did he not even get one thirteen point one. With an eighty nine point one rate. Yeah, he's Joe: Yeah. He's not good. He's gone. Jamal Smith: He's gonna get cut. Mike: not gonna make it. Jamal Smith: Yeah, I think we're looking at this shit wrong. They're running him out there so much to fucking cut him. Like yeah, yeah, yeah. Mike: To see. Yeah. Like, all right, maybe there is a chance and they were like, No. They Risi: No. Mike: have to I mean we'll see who plays I mean I we'll see who starts he's gonna start tomorrow or Friday. Risi: Call patency any time on the field? Joe: He's gonna I think they said he's gonna play the fourth quarter. In-Person: Hello there. Mike: Cole Payton, that's a great name. That is a great Jamal Smith: Cold salad, man. Mike: name. Him and what's the other kid's names? Something steel. Joe: Cameron Steel or something. Mike: No, it's like j it's like no, Jamal Smith: Cameron Steele. Mike: it's really b it's really horny. Jamal Smith: John yo, Johnson Steele would be solid. Johnson Steele would be nice. Joe: It's Carson Steel. Mike: Carson Steele. Yeah. Come on. Come on. Jamal Smith: Carson Steele. Mike: The come on, that's that's that's in the trending bar. Joe: That's like that's Jamal Smith: Come on. Joe: That's like the dudes from Boogie Knights. You remember when they made the movie? And it w and the the one Mike: Yeah. Feel feel feel my heat. Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Joe: guy's name was like Chess Rockwell and the other guy's Mike: Mm. Joe: name was fucking what was John C. Riley's Mike: Brock Joe: name? Mike: Brock Landers Brock Brock Joe: No. Brocklanders and Jamal Smith: Breath him. Mike: Brock Landers and Chest Rockwell and Chet Rockwell. Yeah. Joe: Was it Bro Chet Rockwell or something like that? Yeah. Jamal Smith: Bracolanders. Mike: And Chet Brock Joe: Great names. Mike: Brock Landers and Chet and Chet Rockwell. Feel, feel, feel, feel my heat. Joe: Yeah. Mike: They also covered the Transformer song. Jamal Smith: You got the touch. Mike: Yes. Joe: Got the power. Mike: Greatest scene in all movie history and it's the only reason I like Sister Christian. Joe: Ha ha ha. Mike: Every time I hear that song I just think of the guy in the kimono throwing fireworks. In-Person: That's okay. Risi: Mm-hmm. Mike: Ha ha ha. yeah. Great. I love that Risi: Yeah. Mike: movie. Love that movie. My wife just saw that movie for the first time like a year ago. Yeah. Joe: Really? It's a great movie. It's a classic. Mike: She's like, really? I was like, you like porn? You're gonna love this movie. Joe: Yeah. Jamal Smith: Yeah. That movie's wild man. Fucking wild. Mike: all right, where are we going next? yeah. Risi: well d to wrap this up though, we got Eagles have continued to make bottom of the roster moves. This is for the other roster churn. They signed DB Jalen Mahoney and running back Jordan Nims after releasing safety JT Gray and waving running back what's that Jack Jaquandan Jackson? There Joe: Juanden Jackson. Risi: you go. Johnny Wilson has also been waived. Mike: Yeah, Johnny Wilson's gone. The j the Johnny Jamal Smith: Wow. Mike: Wilson hype train is over. Joe: Yeah, it's over. Jamal Smith: He got lost in the mix, man. Cooper kinda stole his thunder. Risi: Yeah, he he he's done. And so then at the end of it Friday night, this preseason finale is the is the last audition for QB two, which we kind of went through here. So really it's the last piece here, is like, is there any spots unsettled? And I think we went through some of the wide receiver, but you know, running back, D B edge, is there anything else that we think is gonna be shaken up moving into this last preseason game? Joe: I think the starters are set. depth wise, there's gonna be a lot that probably changes, but I c I don't know for sure who's who's on the bubble or not. It's just been it's been so quiet. This is this year's just been it's been the quietest training camp in a long time. Risi: Long time. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Joe: You know, it's why we kinda haven't been that motivated to get back on and get back doing this. 'Cause you know, if something if AJ Brown was pissing in people's Wheaties again or, you know, making weird comments and you know, the press is holding Jalen up to the wall and asking him uncomfortable questions and he's saying what he says, you know, about litter boxes and taking a shit and, you know, whatever else he has said in the past. Then we'd be Risi: I've enjoyed it. Joe: we'd be talking a little bit more about it. But it's been quiet. So it's kinda hard to tell. Risi: I've enjoyed this all season. I've enjoyed like it's been like a it's been a relief. Like I feel like there's been so much drama with like the Eagles. Yeah. Jamal Smith: He did it he did a lot of that last year, unfortunately. They kept moving Mike: Yeah, well yeah, yeah, I did a lot of that. Jamal Smith: the litter box, man. Mike: All right, let's talk about Jalex Hunt and Moro Jomo. Defensive front remains one of the most encouraging parts of camp, especially Jalex Hunt and Moro Jomo, where we're both highlighted again after Monday's practice. Hertz, Hunt, sorry, not Hertz. Hunt has been one of the most consistent names of camp and looks like he can be more than just a rotational development edge. Jomo continues to flash matters because the Eagles need interior depth that can keep the pass rush rolling when the starters rotate out. this is the good stamp camp storyline that can become real in September because defensive line depth tr does travel. it's been really, really good to hear both of their names being shouted out a lot during training camp this year and in the preseason games. I mean Jalex Hunt's had a couple interceptions too, like besides the the hits. Joe: Yeah. I have a prediction for these two. This is gonna be at the end of the year. Milton Williams and who's the other guy we lost? Mike: Mm-hmm. Jamal Smith: But no, no, no, no, no. Mike: back to No. Nicoby Dean? Nicob I mean who Joe: No, defensive linemen. No, defensive linemen. We lost two defensive linemen, I think last season. And it Jamal Smith: Damn who? Joe: was like everybody was like, my god. And I'm you know, I'm like, guys, we just can't keep all these guys. They're gonna make a lot of money. Risi: Guy went to Chicago he went to Chicago, I think. Joe: Yeah, it I think that's what's gonna happen at the end of the year. These guys are gonna show out, they're gonna have great years, and Jamal Smith: They're gone. Joe: they're gonna be gone because Yeah. Mike: Jalen Phillips. Joe: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That it's gonna be that again, I think. These guys are great. Why can't they keep You know, but They paid Jordan Davis. Mike: Yeah, but we only brought him in for we yeah, and he was only the one year rental, Jalen Phillips, right? He came in last year and that was it. Joe: Yep, he came in on at Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Joe: the trade deadline, did he not? Mike: Yeah, like or in camp, but I can't remember. It was early. But he played well. I mean we I'm not gonna knock him. Joe: Mm-hmm. Risi: He was a he was huge. He came in great. Mike: But for you guys out of these two, who's kind of like starting to change your opinion? I kinda was always high on Jalex Hunt, so I was happy to hear that he's doing well. So I I don't know if he changed my my opinion got changed on him, but I think maybe Ojomo, because I had like no hopes or no I had like no seal, Joe: Yeah, I'm with I'm with you on Mike: like nothing for him. Joe: right. I I'm with you on a Jomo. Like to me, Jelix Hunt, I've been on Jalex Hunt for the last two years. You know, like I've I've known he's been a a a really solid player. he makes the next step this year, all the better, especially for him. but yeah, Jalex Hunt is not a surprise to me, or I don't think anybody else who follows a team. Moro Jomo Mike: No, I mean Risi: This is this is expected though. Like I I don't know what it is. Like I I feel like this is the recipe for the Eagles. Like it just takes them a couple seasons, they develop, they do great, they don't sign and they already have someone in in in the wings ready to go. Like this is a recipe that has been working. So to me, like, you know, whoever whoever's in the the think about the what's his name? Ooh are, right? The The Nigerian dude, like he th this guy's gonna take a couple of years, but by the time these guys are gone, the you know Mike: Can we talk about how big that motherfucker is? When I Joe: It's Yeah. Mike: I didn't realize he was in the Jamal Smith: It's unreal. Mike: game the other night and I was like, shit, that's that Nigerian dude, he's huge. Jamal Smith: It's unreal. Joe: Yeah. It's it's the same thing. It's like these two guys are, you know, Milton Williams and whatever, two point and then they'll leave, and then right behind them we have this Nigerian monster. can we just start calling him what's his face like from WWE? Oba Femi. We got Oba Risi: dude. bah. Mike: Oba. Oba. Jamal Smith: You are over family? Joe: Femi and the fucking the vanilla gorilla who's starting to really show out this year. Like they're the next they're next up. I forget. Mike: Yeah, wh what what's that kid's name? What's Joe: He's just a vanilla gorilla. Risi: They should put them in like in in a Brock and and a Jomo or not Jomo. Jamal Smith: shit. Joe: They look like Brock Lesnar and fucking Risi: Yeah. Joe: Oba Femi standing next to each other. It's crazy. Yeah. Mike: Yeah, it's g it's gonna be like it's gonna be like Sunday night's main event. Oba versus Jamal Smith: Ober Femi. Mike: the the what what the hell's his name? Braun Breaker. Yeah. Joe: Bronbreaker. Yeah. So yeah. Jalex Hunt being a breakout candidate. I I think he's already broken out. I think the league already knows who that guy is. Risi: Mm-hmm. Jamal Smith: Yeah, I'd agree. Mike: Who who is the new who is that white vanilla kid? What the hell is his name? Joe: He had a nice game against New England. Yeah. Mike: Last week he did, yeah. He had a r what that Is it like Robinson or something? Or or Joe: Something. You're not gonna need to know his name until next year. So it's fine. Mike: Yeah, that's very true. We're not or we're halfway through this year when somebody gets hurt. Joe: Yeah, yeah. Mike: Yeah. But I mean I I don't know. I I what about you t Chris and and and Jamal. Who what do what do you I think I mean more Jamal 'cause Chris kinda gave an answer, but who what do you think about these two? And is one of them more expected than the other? Jamal Smith: Ugh, so I think it would be unfair to put like crazy, crazy expectations on both of them. I'm kind of along the lines where you guys were though, where Jalex Hunt stood out. He's made some plays. he's made it known that he could potentially be like the real deal for Moro Jomo. I feel like he had some flashes here and there, but I'm not expecting nearly as much out of him as I would Jalex. I if if Moro Delmo takes that next step this year, it would it would shock me a little bit more. It would catch me more off guard. Yeah. I I would say that Jalen Jalex is the guy I would expect this type of shit out of. and if they both if they both come out fine on all cylinders, it's gonna be an exciting year. I I I feel like they should be starting to enter their their prime. Yeah, let's make it happen. Let's make it happen. but yeah, I yeah. Joe: Yeah, if these two if the if if these two guys are good, this defense is right now it's a really good defense, but this defense is an absolute nightmare if these two guys are are both really productive. Mike: Hi Robinson. It's the white kids in it, yeah. Sorry. Joe: Ty Robinson, the vanilla gorilla. Mike: The vanilla gorilla. Okay. Risi: Dude, Joe: That's his nickname. Risi: he's six five, man. He's a monster. Jamal Smith: Hm. The the vanilla gorilla. Vanilla gorilla. I see. Alright. Mike: I think we gotta say vanilla. Vanilla gorilla. Vanilla gorilla you gotta pronounce it vanilla. Risi: Vinnow. Joe: Yeah, they say vanilla. Jamal Smith: Can I call him the porcelain powerhouse? Joe: You can? Jamal Smith: I just Mike: I I would prefer that actually. We we can start Joe: Porcelain powerhouse, yeah. Mike: that. We can start that. The porcelain powerhouse. Risi: Horse one Mike: The Caucasian conquistador. Risi: Uh-huh. Jamal Smith: Ha Joe: Mm-hmm. Risi: Just fucking Joe: Caucasian conqueror. A Caucasian colonizer. Mike: Good. Jesus. Jamal Smith: God. I think that would go over well. Mike: my God. We're Risi: in in the next story. Mike: getting out of hand now. What's the next story we got going on? Joe, let's talk about great. Joe, let's talk about controversy in Cleveland. Joe: Yeah, it's not controversy here. This is more controversy. Mike: Well it is after the Risi: Yeah. Joe: it wouldn't be wouldn't Mike: Take it away, Joe. Take it away. Joe: be an episode Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Joe: if I didn't say something like that. So Risi: Ha ha ha. Joe: mid season form for me too. all right. So Cleveland's quarterback controversy. Watson, Shadur, Sanders, and the maturity gap. So Jamal Smith: So Joe: we all know Cleveland has been one of the weirdest quarterback stories in the league. Deshaun Watson and Shador Sanders split and alternated first team work during camp, but Watson appears to be the choice to open the season. And he was actually named the choice, I think, on Monday. Watson was booed during preseason action and then made comments that rubbed the people the wrong way. He later apologized and clarified Mike: Ha look at that. Look at you. Jamal Smith: Well he's gonna rub no matter what. Joe: Was I gone? Mike: No, Deshaun Watson wrote people the wrong way. Did you not get your own pun? Come on. Joe: No, I didn't. No, I didn't. He's usually the one getting rubbed the wrong way, not the other way. Mike: no, he did it the other way around Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: though. Joe: Watson was booed during preseason action and then made comments that rubbed people the wrong way. He later apologized and clarified that he was not talking about all Browns fans. Did you guys hear what he said? Mike: No, what did he say? Jamal Smith: No. Risi: No. Joe: Absolute insanity. They asked him about the booze after the game. And he's like, Well, you know, I think it's more personal than it is about the performance. And he's not wrong about that. But Mike: No, of course it's not. Joe: but he said the last time I played on this field, I tore my ACL. And the crowd cheered. They're happy I got hurt. And he went on basically to say the Cleveland fans are basically assholes. After what Yeah, the controversy is yeah. Yeah, yeah, Mike: Horrible, they're assholes. Well, I mean after he after he got a lot done to his asshole. Risi: Exactly. Joe: yeah, yeah. Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Joe: So the controversy is bigger than one bad preseason game. Browns fans are still carrying years of frustration. The trade costs, the guaranteed money, the injuries, the off field baggage, and the lack of playoff games on the field. Shador Sanders, meanwhile, has handled the situation with a surprising amount of maturity. His public message has been about development, improving day by day, and staying ready instead of forcing drama. So After what Watson said on Saturday, he should have been released. He shouldn't Jamal Smith: Yes. Joe: even be on the team. That's how just incendiary these comments were. If you haven't seen them, go on YouTube. They're there. You can see them. They're bad. I've never s seen an active professional player talk about their fans in this manner. Shudor Sanders. I've criticized him. Since he was in college. I thought he was overrated. I didn't think he was nearly as good. I didn't think he warranted a first round pick. He's not a fifth round pick, but he definitely wasn't a first round pick. All that being said, he deserves his shot. He deserves a fair shot. Mike: Well, and he was not named the starter too, correct? Didn't yeah. Joe: He wasn't. Deshaun Jamal Smith: Nope. Joe: Watson is. And I don't care. Like, I think I forget who said it. Some one of the ESPN commentators said it said, like, just if you're a Cleveland Browns fan, just don't go to the game this year. I Mike: Yeah. Joe: know it hurts. Just stop. Just don't go. Put your tickets up, do whatever you gotta do. It does. It's a shitty stadium. Fun Mike: Stadium kinda sucks anyway. Joe: fact about the stadium, though, the Cleveland Browns are going to open a new stadium in the same Mike: Yes. Joe: area in 2029. If the trend holds. That will be like the first NFL stadium to ever open and close to never host a postseason game. That's how bad. Risi: my gosh. Mike: Whoa. Joe: That is how bad this organization has been to that fan base. And to allow this to slip, Mike: That would be that's we need this to happen. Joe: and to allow this to slip, and then not just cut this fucking guy from the team is crazy. I know there's a lot of money involved and everything else, but you just cannot have a player say something like that. The apology he did he said when he came back on I think it was Tuesday, or no, it was Monday after he was named the starter. He came back out and talked to the team. He kind of tried to clear it up a little bit. And it was, I think, a genuine apology. But he's gotta just it's a toxic relationship at this point. I don't think there's anything that can repair it. Risi: He didn't have any leash to begin Mike: No, he needs Risi: with. He didn't have any leash to like take that. Joe: No. Jamal Smith: No. Joe: No. Mike: I mean I maybe with a team he did, Chris, like with ownership, but I mean I publicly he didn't have anything and I think that's Joe: No, none. Mike: what this is all about. This is just they paid him a ton of money. The ownership paid him a ton of money, so they're making him they want him to play. They're trying to get a return on their investment. And it's stupid, just cut your loss. It is what it is now. Yeah. Joe: It's gone. The investment's gone. It's Risi: It's some cost. It's some Joe: gone. He Risi: cost. Joe: shouldn't even be on the team. We shouldn't even be having this conversation about him being the starter, them getting money on their investment. Like, do we think that there's even a chance that Deshaun Watson's gonna be effective? No. Jamal Smith: No. Mike: No. Joe: So just cut him. Just part ways with him and it it's Jamal Smith: When is the last time he played? Wait Joe: over. Jamal Smith: wait, Joe, when is the last time he played? Like realistically, on the field. Yeah. Joe: Deshaun Watson, he played last year. Mike: He played last year? Joe: He tore his ACL. Jamal Smith: That was last year? How many Mike: Yeah. Joe: Yeah. His record as a Browns quarterback is nine and ten. He's played nineteen games in four years. Jamal Smith: Jesus. I didn't even realize he was on the field last year. That's how far I thought Joe: Yeah. Jamal Smith: it had been. Mike: It was really just early in his career, right? Like it was early in the season not his career early in the season. Joe: Well, yeah, the first his first few seasons with the Texans. Well, his most of his time with the Texans, he was he was electric. He was really good. Jamal Smith: Yeah, he was very good. Yeah, he was he was amazing with the Texas. Joe: But then he had that off the field stuff going on where, Mike: Yeah. Joe: you know, we all know about that. And, you know, Texans kind of just got rid of him and he wound up going to Cleveland and they gave him a guaranteed deal, made him the most the highest paid player of all time at the time. bad move. Cleveland's just a bad organization, and they're just kicking the fan base in the nuts. People that just don't deserve it anymore. They've been kicked in the nuts enough. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Joe: You know, I I and did Cleveland make a football decision? Yeah, they made a football decision. They have a ninety million dollar investment and they want to see, you know, what they have, but that's not the right thing to do in this case. Mike: No, no, I agree. Joe: You know, and another thing for Shador Sanders, how he's handled this, I am very impressed with. And I'm actually starting to root for this kid. The fan base in Cleveland wants him, and he is gonna get a shot because Deshaun Watson's gonna fucking stink the place up these first two road games. Week three, Shador Sanders is a starter in Cleveland. Risi: That's pretty good for him. Mike: Yeah I I think good. Jamal Smith: Yeah, I was gonna say he mentioned Shador and I I was probably negative on him on the podcast last year, I'm sure. I've really taken the Joe Road when it comes to Shador Sanders and maybe I got there a little bit earlier. I was impressed last year how he would deflect most questions and he's always been fairly good in the media and whether it was on purpose or not, he certainly distanced himself from his father. Like he got Joe: No, he was cock he he was cocky with the media. Colorado, you didn't see it because that fan base out there was so friendly and starving for any kind of success. It it was Jamal Smith: Okay. Joe: softball questions and he was never really pressed out there because they were coming Jamal Smith: Yeah. Joe: to save the program and they kind of did. But, you know, when he first got to Cleveland, his first couple of press conferences there, what he said at the draft, like the guy's been immature. And because he's never, he's never, yeah, he's never Jamal Smith: Well yeah, but I mean he's grown since then. Yeah. Joe: been coached by anyone but his dad. You know what I mean? So it's a completely different situation. He's gr he's definitely grown over this last year. I can see the way he's handling this. And it isn't fair for him because he deserves a fair shot at making this work. The odds are stacked against him. I don't believe he's gonna turn into anything special. But he deserves a fair chance. And all this shit going on around him, it's not fair for him to have to manage this and deal with it. But he does, and he's handled it like a champ so far. Jamal Smith: He's d he's doing it well. He he really is. And I didn't think that he had that in him. 'Cause honestly all I saw was like a little rich kid who was raised by a Joe: Little rich kid. Yep. Jamal Smith: mega superstar and you were born with these genetics that most guys just don't ever get a chance to fucking actually get. And it's Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: carried you for most of your career. I didn't know if he had that extra gear and we we are still yet to see that. But I was impressed on how he started dealing with the media as opposed to how he had done prior. Joe: Yeah, go look at go look at these press conferences from all this situation. Start with, you know, Watson's postgame presser right after the game. And then, you know, listen to Shador Sanders' talk on Monday afternoon after he found out he wasn't going to be the starter, even though he's absolutely outplayed this guy in the preseason. Just hands down, he's outplayed him. Higher passer rating is thrown the only touchdown pass, the only touchdown this team has scored in preseason was off of Shador Jamal Smith: Yeah. Joe: Sanders' throw. he has thrown two picks and Watson's only thrown one, so I won't that's that's a good argument. But overall Shador Sand and Shador Sanders has has actual there's potential for him to have an actual future where everyone knows that Deshaun Watson is done. Like everybody Jamal Smith: Let's go. Yeah. Joe: knows he's done. Yep. Mike: Milk's gone bad. Jamal Smith: that's what I wanted to ask. Now, if he comes out and puts up fucking three hundred, three fifty yards a game, three, four touchdowns, minimal interceptions, do people forget that he is Massage Watson? No. Joe: All's forgiven. They're two in a row. They're Mike: they get back rows. He's getting a back row. Joe: they're they're two and going into week three. He's the starter. He's got six touchdown passes and six hundred and ten yards or something. The masa the yeah, Mike: Hand in Stones gave him a gift card. Joe: yeah, he's getting hand in stone Risi: Ha ha Joe: gift cards. Mike: Like it never happened. Jamal Smith: He said hand in stone. Mike: All right, let's go real quick. Rapid fire. Let's go around the the Eagles line here. Joe, Mikhail Lemon, confidence check, level one one through ten. What's his week impact week one impact gonna be? Jamal. Joe: One. No impact. Jamal Smith: Bah I'll go too. Mike: Chris. Risi: Three. Mike: Paw. Joe: Like Mike: Good job. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go to one. Joe, one eagle whose stock is up after camp for you. Joe: Moro Jomo. Another guy we talked. Carson Steele. We haven't talked about him. Carson Steele. There's no way Mike: Okay. Jamal. well you d Carson's Joe: there's no they have to keep him on the roster. There's no way he slips into a practice squad spot now for the team. No possible way. Nope. Yep. Mike: No way he's not gonna make it. He won't make it through. He's our scatterboo. Risi: Art scattered. Joe: He's a retard like him too. Did you see him talk? Like he's he's he he's a knucklehead. Mike: yeah, dude. You're allowed to say that now. Yeah. Jamal. Stay away from stereotypical slang. Jamal Smith: I I'm gonna go Dante. I'm gonna go with Dante and Wicks. I think Yeah, I'm going Wicks, man. Mike: okay. That's who you're Jamal Smith: I've heard positive things and honestly when we got him like it's gonna be another flame out wide receiver who's probably like running like gas or some shit. no, I I've heard good things. It seems like he's made a bit of a connection with Jalen. I think that he could be a solid receiver for the team. Mike: Chris. Risi: My my standout, I was gonna go with the what's his name? Carson Steele because of all the the the backwards. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go Sean Mannion over here, right? The team is is clicking. Mike: Okay? Risi: I think I think there's not there's no drama. The the dust is subtle. I'm gonna go with Sean Mannion as in the he's pulling it together and he's and you're gonna see a a new version of Jalen. Mike: I'm gonna go Darius Cooper. I think there's been some good things about this kid wide receiver wise. but yeah, we'll go with that. Sorry, I just got a big pop up on my screen that said Paul's recording has stopped. Joe: No fantasy ball with Paul this week then. Yeah. Risi: He We we Mike: I was still playing the intro 'cause you guys need to hear it. One Eagles one Risi: we've lost in the void. Mike: Eagles player whose roster spot you're worried about, Joe. Who isn't gonna make it? I know mine. I'm just gonna Joe: Brit and Covey. Mike: Ooh okay. Joe: Yeah, I think that might be a sneaky cut. Mike: Jamal. Jamal Smith: I'll be honest, I don't know if I have one. Come back to me. Mike: All right, Chris. Risi: I'm in the same like who am I scared of that they cut? Is like I I don't think I have like the I don't know if I care if they cut anyone else that like I want it that's on the edge. I like the top guys that they have, so there's not really I'm a I don't really have a fear of whoever they cut. Like there's no one I'm holding on for that's gonna save us to the promised land. I you know what? Joe: Andy Dalton. Risi: I'll tell you, I was if if they put Cole Payton on the practice squad and they Mike: I I was gonna go I was gonna go with Andy Dolan. That was gonna be my That Jamal Smith: Yeah, I was about to say the red rocky 'cause In-Person: That hard. Risi: That's the one I don't want to happen. I don't want that to happen. Mike: Mine is Carson Steele. Risi: Ha ha Jamal Smith: Carson Steel Mike: worried they're gonna cut him. Okay. Well I I don't even I'm gonna skip this one. way too early gut feeling. Are the Eagles better, worse, or different or any different than last year? Joe, same order. Joe: I think they're gonna be better. Just gut feeling. And I that might not be good because I'm usually the one that says they're gonna lose all the time. But yeah, Risi: Yeah. Joe: I think they're gonna be better this year than last year. I don't know. There's people talking about, they're super bold that I'm not well, let's pump the brakes and let's enjoy the ride. You know, if we get there, fantastic. If we don't, you know, a deep playoff run i i is good. Jamal Smith: Soon as you ask that question, I don't know if you saw the pain in my face. because Mike: really? Jamal Smith: well, so here's the thing. I feel like it's inappropriate to lie to our fans. you know what I mean? Rosenberg were a trusted institution. It's been I don't know how many years now. I have to be honest, I feel worse. I've felt it, I've tried to bury it. I can't get around it. I think this could potentially be a 9 1 season. Now, given I'm probably not gonna predict that when we get into our predictions because it's not what I want and I feel like putting energy into this shit means a lot as a fan. I gotta be positive. But if you want my uncensored, completely honest feeling about it, I'm worried. I'm worried that this offense is gonna take a little bit longer to click than it needs to. I'm worried that certain moves on defense, like we don't know anything about how a strong safety is gonna be. I I his name is lost on me for his Akuba. Makba, we don't know. We don't know. He looked promising. He's looked promising this year. But he looked promising last year and then kinda fell into a bunch of rookie shit. I am I'm worried. Joe: One thing to be concerned about is the lack of Reed blankenship back there. He was he Risi: Mm-hmm. Jamal Smith: Absolutely. Joe: was a steadying force in the secondary. He was the leader of the secondary. Mike: Yeah, yeah. I forgot about that. I forgot about that. Jamal Smith: Absolutely. Joe: So don't he's Mike: Where did he go? Joe: Reed he signed with the Texans. He got paid. Mike: Yeah. Yeah. Jamal Smith: He got money. Mike: Chris, what are you thinking? Good, better, better, worse, indifferent. Risi: They're worse. They're gonna be worse this year. Only my main reason is is the O line. I'm terrified. They're Jamal Smith: Yeah. Risi: that ol the defense I'm I'm confident they'll pull it together. They'll figure it out. And then this is a year where Jalen's you got Sean Mannion's gonna he's pulling it together. I just feel like the injury bug's gonna kick in this year, which I'm not looking forward to. And it's just gonna be a rough ride. So I I think overall it's a worse year, but I at the end of it it will be a It'll be more promising heading out of it. It's just gonna this is gonna be a bumpy ride, the way I'm looking at this season. Joe: Just one other thing to take away from this, if Jalen Hurts doesn't have a really good year, they're turning the page on this guy. Hope everybody's ready for that. They will not renew Jamal Smith: Yep. One hundred percent. Mike: I agree. I absolutely agree. I agree. Risi: Yep. Yep. Joe: him. He'll play here probably for another season and then we'll be we'll be changing course. Mike: And and and I absolutely agree. And I think we said at the end of the year, I I don't think Mannion was brought in as a candidate to replace the coach if it's a bad year. Manion was brought in as a compliment to the coach to replace the quarterback if it's a bad year. Yeah. me Joe: I think so. And again, just so everybody's clear, I am betting that Jalen Hurts is gonna break out. He always has Mike: I do too. I totally think so. Joe: in this situation, every time he has stepped up. So Risi: Hundred percent. Mike: But I I I do think that the office would rather have if they're both bad, or if if he's bad, the office would rather have Nick than Jalen. If I said that right. I think I said it right. Like I I think Joe: yeah, yeah. Mike: they like I think they have more trust in Nick than they do Jalen. for me I think they're gonna be better. I I think especially if knowing that knowing now that We are the league candidate to bring Hassan Reddick into the organization. And if he comes back, that just tells you everything was true. Everything was true. And he came back because that guy was gone. And with that much of a shit that was going on in the locker room, massive distraction to the team. And it makes sense to my all the shit that happened happened last year. last thing we were going to do, but it seems like Paul disappeared. We were going to start a new segment this year, and it was going to be called Fantasy Ball with Paul. And we created or I created two intros for him. And right now I'm gonna play those two intros and we can vote to say which one we want to be the official fantasy ball with Paul soundtracked. He has no say 'cause he's not here. So Joe: He has no say 'cause he's not here. He doesn't have a vote. Risi: Yeah. Mike: we'll go with option one. In-Person: Fantasy more with Paul, let's get our fantasy on Talking about fantasies of the ball with Paul before. It's fantasy for Joe: We love that. Mike: So that's number one. That's number one. no, you need number two. Number d number two, Jamal Smith: Yeah. I don't know how you I don't know how you beat that. I don't know how you I don't know how you beat that, bro. Do you remember a couple of years ago when that fucking Joe: Ch Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Put like a pirate face on him or something. Like a fucking hat, eye patch. Jamal Smith: when that song broke out? That was like it's it's made in that exact same style. I can't think of kind of music that shit Joe: Sea shanty? Jamal Smith: is. Yes, that shit exploded a couple of years ago. That one song. Yeah There yeah, there were di Joe: That was from Assassin's Creed or something like that. Yeah. Lever, Johnny Mike: is that was it the song from there? Became big? Yeah. Joe: Lever? Jamal Smith: I cannot remember the name of the song, it's killing me. But there was Mike: I have no clue you guys are killing me. Jamal Smith: a huge, huge, huge song. I was singing that shit all the time. yeah Risi: Wellerman. Jamal Smith: Yeah, there we go. Yep, yep. The Wellerman. Joe: Lever Johnny Lever? the Wellerman. Jamal Smith: Yeah, so Wellerman Mike: Okay. Jamal Smith: cut. Yo, that shit was shit. Yeah, look that shit up. Jamal Smith: Yeah. No? No, Joe shitted on everyone. Risi: I won the year before. And Joe: Yeah, Chris nailed it. Jamal Smith: Nail Joe: Yeah. Jamal Smith: D. He killed shit all the way around.
