- 1:46So Asperger syndrome, I'm going to start at the top.
- 1:48So Asperger syndrome is not a term that's used anymore.
- 1:50Asperger syndrome was a term that was coined in the 1980s by
- 1:55Lana Wing, which reflects the work presented by Hans Asperger
- 1:58in 1942. Now this.
- 2:00Work. Was predominantly used, you know
- 2:03on young boys to kind of come about the idea of autism and,
- 2:06and other types of neurological conditions under the autism
- 2:10spectrum umbrella. But then in 2013 they realised
- 2:12that people diagnosed at Aspergers were, were being left
- 2:16off helpless and weren't being able to get the support and help
- 2:19that they need because they didn't have the term autism in
- 2:21the diagnosis. So they put Asperger syndrome
- 2:23within the umbrella of autism spectrum disorder, and the same
- 2:26thing happened in 2019 that ISDI think is or IDs, which is
- 2:31another kind of diagnostic criteria because the first one
- 2:34was the. DSL 5.
- 2:35So moving on from there, well, on Earth is Asperger Central.
- 2:37What does it mean? You might have heard Elon Musk
- 2:39talking about it and other people and Albinistein and all
- 2:41this stuff. Basically what it means is that
- 2:43it's people on the autism spectrum like myself who have
- 2:46lower support needs than somebody who may be non verbal
- 2:49and unable to use the batter on their own right.
- 2:52So you have an ultimate spectrum.
- 2:53So it goes all the way from like people who can, you know, hold
- 2:56down a job and hold verbal conversations like I can all the
- 2:59way to people who will need 24/7 care because they really need
- 3:02help with like extreme executive function.
- 3:05Now Asperger syndrome, you know, has been around like it says
- 3:08we've not since the 80s and there's been hundreds and
- 3:09hundreds of people diagnosed with Asperger syndrome.
- 3:12I myself was diagnosed in 2013 just before they changed the
- 3:14nomenclature with Asperger syndrome, which obviously is
- 3:18autism. Now I'm going to leave some
- 3:19links down below if you're interested.
- 3:21And if you want my Autism Wife Hacks PDF book, you can download
- 3:24it at autismhacks.net. But the interesting thing about
- 3:27Asperger syndrome is common characteristics.
- 3:30People with Asperger syndrome will typically have like a
- 3:31monotone type of talking voice. They'll be well consistent tone
- 3:34and they will deviate though we know inflections on their voice,
- 3:37which is interesting. And a lot of people say that's
- 3:39kind of robotic, but you know, I think it's just comfortable.
- 3:41People with Asperger syndrome will have an obsessive interest
- 3:43in something usually quite intellectual and could be
- 3:46something like like trains to science, to automotive
- 3:49industries, and those things become obsessions that they
- 3:52learn everything about and they'll become very, very
- 3:54knowledgeable in those areas and they'll even become experts in
- 3:56those areas and sometimes probably work in those areas.
- 3:58Also, people with Asperger's syndrome tend to have little to
- 4:02no social life because they've had social interaction very
- 4:04hard, including eye contact, and they'd like to be more
- 4:07conservative and be home researching, studying and all
- 4:09that kind of stuff and then other things.
- 4:11People with Aspergic syndrome typically suffer from sensory
- 4:13processing disorder, meaning they're susceptible to doing
- 4:16types of stimuli from, you know, third party environments like
- 4:19sound and smell and taste and things like that.
- 4:22And this obviously impacts their ability to want to go out inside
- 4:24and do anything and also impacts their ability to sleep properly
- 4:27as well. So they'll probably have a lot
- 4:29of sleep problems, which is really, really interesting.
- 4:31I think I gave 77 symptoms of aspergic syndrome, aspergic
- 4:35syndrome in a video I did recently in my channel.
