Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: The Internet. It's an amazing place that has expanded the
- 0:07Speaker 1: way we think and interact as a society, from education
- 0:11Speaker 1: to entertainment. It's a world of its own, and within
- 0:15Speaker 1: that world there are shadows, places where things get dark
- 0:20Speaker 1: and mysterious. True and fictional stories run rampant, spinning people's
- 0:25Speaker 1: imagination out of control. The story of Kate Yupp is
- 0:29Speaker 1: the center of one of those shadowy places, and her
- 0:32Speaker 1: story has the potential to be very very dark.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Warning the following podcast and material in a mat your
- 0:47Speaker 2: audience listener discretion is advised.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Hey, how was it going.
- 1:11Speaker 3: My name's Ben and I'm Nicole, and you're listening to Wicked.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And Grim, a true crime podcast. And Nicole once said
- 1:19Speaker 1: and forgot her line.
- 1:21Speaker 3: No, I didn't forget. I was just like waiting for
- 1:23Speaker 3: you to do more.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm not supposed to do more. You forgot
- 1:27Speaker 1: that it was your turn to chime in.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Holy heck, one day, one day, I'll get it so perfect,
- 1:33Speaker 3: and people would be like, who the shit's that?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Well, ninety nine percent of the time you do it
- 1:37Speaker 1: so perfect. It's just that's true. Sometimes all of a sudden,
- 1:41Speaker 1: for whatever reason, you just like forget.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I was very distracted by Mika. I'm not gonna lie,
- 1:45Speaker 3: and I felt like you had more to say, and
- 1:48Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah, it's me.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Well, I mean this is a podcast. We generally have
- 1:52Speaker 1: a lot to say, so we do so with that
- 1:55Speaker 1: in mind.
- 1:57Speaker 3: What's your drinking over that day?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Actually got Stanley Park brewing a trailhopper IPA nice.
- 2:03Speaker 3: That's awesome. Look at us supporting BC. I'm drinking sand
- 2:08Speaker 3: tel Rose, the best rose around, betful, so good. They're
- 2:12Speaker 3: in Colonna their winery.
- 2:14Speaker 1: You love your wine, especially from Kolona.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Okanagan is the best wine ever.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Okanagan is pretty dope for that sort of so good.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Oh we should do it. Throw up a little quick
- 2:23Speaker 1: cheers for a happy Father's Day. Yeah, all the fathers
- 2:27Speaker 1: out there right now who are doing absolutely awesome. You're
- 2:29Speaker 1: crushing it, keep crushing it. Happy Father's Day.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, Happy Father's Day.
- 2:34Speaker 1: We're actually recording this on Father's Day right now, so yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 1: it's a little belated happy Father's Day when this is released,
- 2:40Speaker 1: but still happy Father's Day.
- 2:42Speaker 3: And anyone who may struggle with their father relationship or
- 2:46Speaker 3: missing a father just showed up to you as well.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Sometimes these days are not always easy for everyone.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Exactly, especially if that man has never come back with
- 2:55Speaker 1: the milk. Not a joke. I should have said, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: don't even know, like, okay, you get it, because like
- 3:03Speaker 1: the deadbeat dads, I'm just going to go I get it, Okay,
- 3:06Speaker 1: just making sure, okay, go moving on, moving moving on.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Okay. I said something so sweet and you just ruined it.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I thought it was funny.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Okay, it's funny.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we gotta think patrons.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Oh yes, we got two of them to thank thank you.

- 3:32Speaker 3: So good.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And they're going to get an exclusive episode coming up here.
- 3:37Speaker 3: At the end of the month very quickly.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so we don't even know what we're going to
- 3:40Speaker 1: do for me at this month. So if you are
- 3:43Speaker 1: a patron and you want to have a you have
- 3:45Speaker 1: a suggestion that you're thinking, Hey, this month deserves this case,
- 3:49Speaker 1: let us know. We'll take a look and we'll see.
- 3:50Speaker 1: We of course have a crap ton of requests.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we might know what we're doing and depending
- 3:55Speaker 3: if I'm doing that one or not. I do have
- 3:57Speaker 3: a case or cases that I'm working on, so oh okay,
- 4:01Speaker 3: so we'll see. But I mean, obviously like requests are awesome,
- 4:04Speaker 3: and we put them in our book, and we do
- 4:07Speaker 3: go through that book often if we're like, oh my gosh,
- 4:09Speaker 3: what are we going to do?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so, yeah, thank you to their patrons. You guys
- 4:13Speaker 1: are absolutely wicked, totally awesome dope perks over there. So
- 4:16Speaker 1: if you want to sign up, you can find a
- 4:18Speaker 1: link in the description of this or give us a
- 4:20Speaker 1: search on Patreon and you can get some behind the scenes,
- 4:23Speaker 1: some awesome access.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And yeah, yeah, I feel like our Patreon's pretty awesome.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I've no, I have no nothing to compare it to,
- 4:29Speaker 3: but I think it's dope.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I think it's pretty dope. I think so too.
- 4:33Speaker 3: And yeah, so I'm holding some jack O stickers because yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 3: we said, we already mentioned we're recording a day early,
- 4:39Speaker 3: and we're doing that because I'm actually going away on
- 4:43Speaker 3: holidays or once in my.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Life for once in your life.
- 4:46Speaker 3: It's been a while, but yeah, I'm heading to the island.
- 4:49Speaker 3: And there is inta fino, there is Thancouver Island. Oh, yeah, sorry, sorry,
- 4:57Speaker 3: it's just so everyone here just is the island and
- 4:59Speaker 3: you know exactly what it is right away if you're
- 5:00Speaker 3: in BC. Yes. So anyway, in Taffino, which is like
- 5:05Speaker 3: this most beautiful town, I guess you wouldn't. They don't
- 5:08Speaker 3: know if it's a city, it's right more of a town.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'd say it's a town.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah. Anyway, it just has the most beautiful beaches ever
- 5:13Speaker 3: and one of the most amazing places to eat. It's
- 5:15Speaker 3: called Taco Fino.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, so good.
- 5:17Speaker 3: And they've also expanded that and I think Tafino is
- 5:20Speaker 3: the og Taco Fino.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I think so.
- 5:23Speaker 3: They have them in like Victorian Vancouver now too. But anyway,
- 5:26Speaker 3: their food truck you can put stickers on there, so
- 5:29Speaker 3: I'm going to put some Jacko stickers on there, so
- 5:32Speaker 3: I'm going to eat it epic tacco exactly.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And if you find yourself ever in so Fino and
- 5:38Speaker 1: you're gonna go to Taco Fino, take a picture of
- 5:41Speaker 1: yourself in front of the truck with the Jacko sticker,
- 5:43Speaker 1: see if you can locate it. Yeah, we want to
- 5:45Speaker 1: see who can send us pictures, and the first person
- 5:47Speaker 1: to send us a picture in front of the Taco
- 5:49Speaker 1: Fino truck with that sticker. You might get something. We'll
- 5:52Speaker 1: just say that.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I'm going to send you a picture of me standing
- 5:56Speaker 3: in front of the star. What do I get?
- 5:58Speaker 1: You'll get a high five when you get home.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Oh anyway, yeah, I'll see if I can maybe stick
- 6:03Speaker 3: to on there. We'll see. But super cool.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking of pictures, actually, we've had people asking for
- 6:11Speaker 1: pictures of our dogs quite a bit, whether it's Facebook, Instagram,
- 6:14Speaker 1: They're like, oh, we want to see you guys get
- 6:16Speaker 1: pictures with your dogs. So we actually recently did get
- 6:18Speaker 1: a photoshoot with our dogs from a friend of ours, Melissa.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Shout out to Melissa there. So we are going to
- 6:24Speaker 1: be posting some pictures of us with the doggos on
- 6:27Speaker 1: Instagram and Facebook here in the next day or so.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah, they're so awesome. There's so many, so many cute ones.
- 6:32Speaker 3: So yeah, people always want to We talk about them
- 6:35Speaker 3: a fair amount, right, so they always want to see
- 6:37Speaker 3: and learn a little bit more about the doggos.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Well, it's hard not to talk about them when you're
- 6:41Speaker 1: sitting here doing a podcast and they fart mid podcast
- 6:45Speaker 1: because they're laying right next to her.
- 6:46Speaker 3: They need a drink of water, let outside or pacing
- 6:48Speaker 3: or something. They're very much so in our space, in
- 6:51Speaker 3: this space.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yes, hashtag tiny home living.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You can't get away.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah, because we actually had someone I believe, give us
- 6:58Speaker 1: a bad review at one point. If you go back
- 7:01Speaker 1: checking out our reviews, they're like, oh, you're talking about
- 7:03Speaker 1: your dog farting. Just put your dog in another room.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Or yeah, I think they said that we were immature
- 7:08Speaker 3: because of it.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah, we were immature. Yes, go put your dog in
- 7:11Speaker 1: another room. Just a little side note, we don't have
- 7:15Speaker 1: another room.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I mean they might not have known that
- 7:19Speaker 3: we live in a tiny home. Like literally, there is
- 7:21Speaker 3: there is nowhere else that we can put them unless
- 7:24Speaker 3: we put them outside. But then they're gonna get eaten
- 7:26Speaker 3: alive by mosquitos at the current moment.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they'll just wine at the door and
- 7:30Speaker 1: that'll be even worse. But yeah, anyways, moving on from
- 7:33Speaker 1: all that, I think we can go into the actual
- 7:35Speaker 1: case today.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Ooh, this is exciting. Kay. I know a teend tiny
- 7:40Speaker 3: little bit I have.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna preface this with telling everyone what I
- 7:44Speaker 1: told you. This is the story of kate Yup and
- 7:48Speaker 1: she does muck bang videos on YouTube, which.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I was like, what the fuck is that? Yeah, and
- 7:52Speaker 3: then you showed me and I was like, actually, that's
- 7:55Speaker 3: like kind of gross. I don't know if I'm supposed
- 7:57Speaker 3: to think that's gross, but I thought it was a
- 7:59Speaker 3: little bit gross.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's not my sort of thing either, But well, content creators, influencers,
- 8:05Speaker 1: social media personalities. They're all like, it's a relatively new
- 8:08Speaker 1: term that we have to deal with today, and terms
- 8:10Speaker 1: like muck bang is going to be thrown in there too.
- 8:12Speaker 3: People might not know what that means.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I know, I'm getting to that cam you tits like
- 8:19Speaker 1: you keep.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Just saying that word. I'm like, some people might not
- 8:21Speaker 3: know what that is.
- 8:22Speaker 1: No, I'm literally saying right now, there's a lot of
- 8:25Speaker 1: words that we don't know because we're in a whole
- 8:28Speaker 1: new world of the Internet. Yes, other words like content creator, influencer,
- 8:33Speaker 1: social media. It's it's all new terminology. Okay, okay, yeah, okay,
- 8:38Speaker 1: so hold off on the muckbang thing. I just gave
- 8:41Speaker 1: a little early access to that word. We're diving into
- 8:44Speaker 1: the case here. I'm starting off internet before.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I define Okay, Okay, I get it, I get it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: We're on the same page. I think, are you sure,
- 8:52Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Hold back on that wine.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Maybe, Okay, you make it sound like I've literally had
- 8:58Speaker 3: like a couple of SIPs, so.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Well you act and like you had a couple bottles.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Anyways, so it's all too common for individuals to be
- 9:09Speaker 1: posting on social media, all these apps and everything to
- 9:13Speaker 1: try and better their business, you know, and hopes to
- 9:15Speaker 1: get more likes, more followers, subscribers, all for the long
- 9:18Speaker 1: term goal of becoming you know, well established, whether it's
- 9:20Speaker 1: themselves or their business.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I should preface I have to also say that it's
- 9:24Speaker 3: exhausting to be a content creator, like exhausting, it really is.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And honestly, like us as a podcasters, we are content
- 9:32Speaker 1: creators and yeah, it's a lot of work. Yeah, And honestly,
- 9:36Speaker 1: we do live in a time where you can make
- 9:37Speaker 1: a very good income from posting, Like if you post
- 9:40Speaker 1: some good content, you garner you know, hundreds of thousands
- 9:44Speaker 1: or perhaps even millions of yous you know, boom money
- 9:47Speaker 1: and sponsorships tend to roll in.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 3: No, there's like quite a few people that I have
- 9:51Speaker 3: aroun that have I mean, I can consist they've stayed
- 9:55Speaker 3: consistent and they're putting like unique content out there and
- 9:58Speaker 3: now it's like literally their job and stuff, which is
- 10:01Speaker 3: really cool.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Exactly. Well, like someone I turned to quite a bit
- 10:05Speaker 1: for this topic, call Me Chris, where she started on TikTok.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Actually a little bit of name dropping here. I was
- 10:11Speaker 1: actually kind of friends with call me Chris on TikTok,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and I was like, you're going to blow up, I
- 10:16Speaker 1: can tell. And then yeah, of course she blew up.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And now I'm pretty sure she's going to be like
- 10:20Speaker 1: fucking Hollywood the next two three years. But yeah, and
- 10:23Speaker 1: it happened so fast. So anyways, studies showed that approximately
- 10:29Speaker 1: thirty percent of kids in the US want to be
- 10:32Speaker 1: a YouTube star when they grow up. Yeah, they want
- 10:36Speaker 1: to forget about the nine to five you know what,
- 10:38Speaker 1: it's a little more alluring to make, you know, big income,
- 10:42Speaker 1: doing what you want from the comfort of your own home.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Just really quickly. Like that is so true because I
- 10:47Speaker 3: used to work for a summer camp, right, and I
- 10:50Speaker 3: would ask lots of times the kids, like, what do
- 10:52Speaker 3: you want to be when you grow up? And so
- 10:54Speaker 3: often they said a YouTuber. So often.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a big thing, and.
- 10:58Speaker 3: It just it blew my mind. It blew my mind.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Well, on February fourteenth of two thousand and five, the
- 11:04Speaker 1: world would further be changed because of YouTube. That whole, big,
- 11:07Speaker 1: hard hitting website launched and gave the opportunity for those
- 11:10Speaker 1: stars to be, you know, the star of their own show.
- 11:14Speaker 1: So Ever since then, we've seen the rise and followed
- 11:17Speaker 1: many successful people on the website known as you just
- 11:20Speaker 1: said the word YouTubers. And over the years we've seen
- 11:23Speaker 1: an evolution of the type of content getting posted to
- 11:26Speaker 1: the platform as well. We've seen things like sketches and vlogs,
- 11:29Speaker 1: which were primarily popular in the twenty tens, and as
- 11:35Speaker 1: recently it has become more grounded in educational content. Now, how
- 11:39Speaker 1: the videos, sorry, how to videos and reviews showing exactly
- 11:44Speaker 1: the type of information you're after. You know, you google
- 11:46Speaker 1: how to do this or review for this thing, you
- 11:50Speaker 1: do that on YouTube you will find an answer. So
- 11:52Speaker 1: it's a lot more educational that grounded type content. But
- 11:56Speaker 1: that doesn't mean YouTube is strictly a search engine now
- 12:00Speaker 1: searching for these things. It's not just a teaching tool.
- 12:03Speaker 1: In fact, it's still an incredible amount of genres available
- 12:06Speaker 1: on the platform one of which has become very popular
- 12:10Speaker 1: in the past few years called muck bang.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Okay, here we go, I need.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yes, here is where I define muckbang. So, muckbang comes
- 12:22Speaker 1: from the Korean word miokbang, which I really hope I
- 12:26Speaker 1: said that correctly, which combines the Korean word for eating
- 12:32Speaker 1: and broadcast. Now, in simple terms, you can define muckbang
- 12:36Speaker 1: as an eat cast. This is a podcast, right, muckbang
- 12:40Speaker 1: is basically an eat cast. So basically it's a video
- 12:43Speaker 1: where the host consumes various quantities of food on camera.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Usually the focus of the camera is on their mouth
- 12:50Speaker 1: and they tend to have the microphone very close while
- 12:52Speaker 1: they pick up the sounds.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Oh that's just not okay.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I knew you would have a problem with this topic.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Like, yeah, well, honestly, the one you did show me,
- 13:08Speaker 3: can I say? Or no?
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'll wait, Well, I showed you the first video. I
- 13:13Speaker 1: showed you ten seconds of Kate Young's first video. We'll
- 13:17Speaker 1: get into her first.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I'll talk about that again in sc but I was
- 13:21Speaker 3: just like kind of a pulse and I don't know
- 13:23Speaker 3: if I'm ever in amu to eat that again.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Fair enough, Well, muckbang, Honestly, to me, it seems like
- 13:30Speaker 1: a form of ASMR, which means autonomous sensory meridian response,
- 13:36Speaker 1: And these are a type of video that show very
- 13:38Speaker 1: satisfying visuals and sounds there akin to that, like you know,
- 13:42Speaker 1: peeling that plastic off a brand new phone screen. Yeah,
- 13:45Speaker 1: that's popping bubble wrap. But who But some people have
- 13:49Speaker 1: different things that satisfy them like that, And I think
- 13:53Speaker 1: I can't say this, I can't speak for other people,
- 13:56Speaker 1: but I think that muck bangs are a form of ASMR,
- 14:01Speaker 1: is what I can draw the conclusion of.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah, you're very right. I might have trouble
- 14:06Speaker 3: with this with the topic of this podcast.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I do also want to throw this out there as
- 14:11Speaker 1: a side note too, or it could very well be
- 14:13Speaker 1: some sort of kink. Some people very well might have
- 14:16Speaker 1: some sort of fetish revolving around food and consuming it,
- 14:20Speaker 1: So throwing that out there too.
- 14:23Speaker 3: This is just a whole new world here. Yes, I
- 14:25Speaker 3: feel like it's gonna be a whole new world for
- 14:27Speaker 3: a lot of people probably now.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Regardless of all this information, though, on April twenty third
- 14:32Speaker 1: of twenty eighteen, a new YouTube channel would emerge with
- 14:36Speaker 1: its very first video. It was a Muckbang channel with
- 14:39Speaker 1: the YouTube name of Kate Yup. I just realized I
- 14:43Speaker 1: think I might have said young earlier when I was talked.
- 14:45Speaker 3: About about it. Kate, I feel like you said yep, But.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Okay, Kate yep. Anyways, Kate's first video will be titled
- 14:52Speaker 1: quote eleven pounds salmon and then brackets five kilograms of
- 14:57Speaker 1: salmon in French World record ASMR. So this would feature
- 15:05Speaker 1: a thumbnail image of a woman sitting in front of
- 15:07Speaker 1: a pile of raw salmon philets, appearing to eat the filets.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Then she was dipping it in her soya sauce.
- 15:15Speaker 1: And yes, she usually has like a bunch of like
- 15:18Speaker 1: dips of sorts like taraiaki sauce, soy sauce and stuff
- 15:22Speaker 1: she's dipping it in. But yeah, of course this thumbnail
- 15:24Speaker 1: did not disappoint the channel's host. Kate Yupp, who was
- 15:27Speaker 1: a very small, petite woman, began to devour the entire
- 15:31Speaker 1: eleven pounds of raw salmon on camera and while she eats,
- 15:37Speaker 1: though I do want to point out it is not
- 15:39Speaker 1: a slow pace. She's not just casually biting. She is
- 15:43Speaker 1: howing how.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Long is that video? Because yeah, like we said, I
- 15:47Speaker 3: only watched like a very short glimpse.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I think it's about twenty minutes. Holy shit, I think,
- 15:53Speaker 1: but I'm not. Don't quote me on that.
- 15:55Speaker 3: So I'm like super obsessed with sushi. I think most
- 15:58Speaker 3: people know that. And I occasionally like raw salmon or
- 16:02Speaker 3: raw tuna. Yeah, I just like have absolutely no interest
- 16:07Speaker 3: in eating any sort of raw salmon anytime soon, anytime soon.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And I only showed you like a ten second clip.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but I was just like, this is not my
- 16:17Speaker 3: cup of tea.
- 16:18Speaker 1: And that's what it is for the entirety of her video.
- 16:22Speaker 1: And she's not just sitting here like with a knife
- 16:24Speaker 1: and fork or chopstick, so you guys know she is
- 16:27Speaker 1: with her hands just digging in chunk after chunk, stuffing
- 16:31Speaker 1: her face.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I mean, I should say, teach their own everyone can
- 16:34Speaker 3: have your own interests.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. I don't judge. Now, Kate is wearing some
- 16:39Speaker 1: sort of makeshift mask in these videos. It's kind of
- 16:43Speaker 1: like a piece of cloth or a bandana that hides
- 16:46Speaker 1: what looks like where above her mouth would be. Okay, okay,
- 16:51Speaker 1: So the camera is framed such so the majority of
- 16:55Speaker 1: everything past her upper lip I can't see, but this
- 16:59Speaker 1: mask has a cutout for her nose to stick through
- 17:01Speaker 1: and a cutout for her eyes. There are clips in
- 17:03Speaker 1: some of her later videos where you can see like
- 17:05Speaker 1: the bottom of her eye peek out as she dips
- 17:07Speaker 1: down in cameras view sort of thing.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Okay, because that was actually a question I had if
- 17:11Speaker 3: in any of the videos you get to see her.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Face, you don't, which added a very large sense of
- 17:17Speaker 1: mystery to her videos.
- 17:18Speaker 3: No kidding, And some people probably do show their face
- 17:20Speaker 3: and stuff, right, assuming very much so.
- 17:23Speaker 1: So Kate seemed to be from somewhere in possibly France
- 17:28Speaker 1: regarding the French, right, And she didn't talk in her
- 17:32Speaker 1: videos either. Only occasionally she would whisper a couple words,
- 17:37Speaker 1: speaking just a little bit like this, very very quietly,
- 17:41Speaker 1: which is again akin to ASMR videos. And you could
- 17:45Speaker 1: hear that French accent when she did talk. Okay, Yeah,
- 17:49Speaker 1: now her video descriptions written in English and French, I
- 17:52Speaker 1: should say that as well. Either way, it's a mystery
- 17:55Speaker 1: to anyone who Kate Yup was. She was clearly hiding
- 17:59Speaker 1: her identity for one reason or another. And it's not
- 18:01Speaker 1: uncommon for people to hide their identity online year right,
- 18:04Speaker 1: not at all yeah, user names and stuff, and it's
- 18:08Speaker 1: not weird for that to happen.
- 18:09Speaker 3: No, no, that doesn't alarm me at all.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so her video did get to see a lot
- 18:14Speaker 1: of attention. Thousands of views began actually pouring in. Her
- 18:18Speaker 1: channel began to grow as she continued to post these
- 18:20Speaker 1: muck bang videos where she eats an absurd amount of food.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Her first few videos contained a continued to be raw
- 18:28Speaker 1: salmon phillots, then they began to shift into other seafoods
- 18:32Speaker 1: like lobsters, crabs, prawns, shrimp, squid, octopus, and the whole time,
- 18:38Speaker 1: she never showed her face or revealed her identity. She
- 18:42Speaker 1: kept herself very private, very concealed. Now, people of course
- 18:48Speaker 1: speculated who she was, and the mystery around her identity
- 18:52Speaker 1: had people asking a lot of questions, Right, it's like,
- 18:55Speaker 1: reveal yourself, who are you? You want to see? Right?
- 18:58Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I feel like just that sense of curiosity, right,
- 19:02Speaker 3: you just need to know almost, especially like you're a
- 19:05Speaker 3: big fan of this right.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Now. A lot of this speculation especially began to grow
- 19:11Speaker 1: when some pretty significant bruising on her left arm appeared
- 19:15Speaker 1: in one way, Oh no, yes, right along her bicet
- 19:20Speaker 1: huh now. Viewers also noted that it looked like she
- 19:22Speaker 1: may have a cut or abrasion on her lip on
- 19:25Speaker 1: the left side to go along with it, which begins
- 19:28Speaker 1: to make Kate's story take a little bit of a
- 19:31Speaker 1: dark turn.
- 19:32Speaker 3: H Oh yeah, Okay, I don't like where this is going.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Where do you think it's going?
- 19:37Speaker 3: I don't know. I felt like, maybe is she getting
- 19:39Speaker 3: abused or something? Potentially is that what people are thinking?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Potentially, so everyone, of course potentially begins to think the worst,
- 19:49Speaker 1: is Kate being abused? What's a big question on everyone's mind,
- 19:52Speaker 1: just like you said, And if that is the case,
- 19:55Speaker 1: who is it that's leaving those marks? And how did
- 19:58Speaker 1: they happen? Was she really eating of her own free will?
- 20:02Speaker 3: Also became a popular question shoot to my mind and
- 20:08Speaker 3: not go there at all.
- 20:10Speaker 1: It did for some people.
- 20:12Speaker 3: But that could make a lot of sense. Yes, I mean,
- 20:16Speaker 3: because even when I said that, I was like, how
- 20:17Speaker 3: is this person consuming that amount of food? Like are
- 20:20Speaker 3: they throwing up afterwards? Or like how is this even happening?
- 20:24Speaker 1: It's possible a lot of that sort of stuff. Is
- 20:27Speaker 1: it plays into the conspiracy questioning because we have this
- 20:33Speaker 1: giant puzzle and we're just trying to fit it all
- 20:36Speaker 1: together and make sense of it. So we have this
- 20:39Speaker 1: very thin woman eating a crap ton of food. Why
- 20:43Speaker 1: how like everything, who is she? We know none of it?
- 20:47Speaker 1: That's the biggest problem.
- 20:49Speaker 3: I kind of like that it's like kept a secret
- 20:52Speaker 3: in a sense, like I don't know that just it
- 20:55Speaker 3: adds a lot.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It adds a whole new world to it.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Yeah, new world.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Sorry, I won't do that now. Kate actually explained that
- 21:05Speaker 1: these bruises were caused by the sun and the split
- 21:08Speaker 1: lip as a cold sort. Now, what's in her defense
- 21:13Speaker 1: is actually kind of plausible, and I'll touch on why
- 21:16Speaker 1: those are plausible a little bit later on when we
- 21:19Speaker 1: get into some of the theories. Okay, this would actually ignite
- 21:23Speaker 1: though a long chain of Internet sluice digging into Kate's videos,
- 21:27Speaker 1: these bruisings, the cut lip, that sort of thing. People
- 21:30Speaker 1: were watching her videos with a very very close eye.
- 21:34Speaker 1: They were going back, they were rewatching, they were studying
- 21:37Speaker 1: every frame for clues to see if Kate was okay,
- 21:41Speaker 1: or if there were any hints on who she was
- 21:43Speaker 1: or who potentially could be causing harm to her.
- 21:46Speaker 3: And a lot of these sheep are so good ye
- 21:50Speaker 3: at what they find. It's mind blowing.
- 21:52Speaker 1: The internet is ruthless, so the more people look through,
- 21:59Speaker 1: the worst it seemed to get. Honestly, the same video
- 22:02Speaker 1: you can find the bruises in was titled quote this
- 22:05Speaker 1: is a long title, so bear with me. Two whole fish,
- 22:09Speaker 1: whole giant squid, lobster, king crab, salmon and tuna, raw, octopus, scallops, shrimp.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Now the other strange things that were found in that
- 22:21Speaker 1: video that that was titled mm hmm were these? At
- 22:25Speaker 1: four minutes and fifty two seconds into the video, the
- 22:28Speaker 1: table seems to unexplicitly move, as if as Kate's hands
- 22:33Speaker 1: are up, leading people to believe that Kate is not alone.
- 22:36Speaker 1: The table was bumped by potentially someone else.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Oh like the person who's recording her and forcing her
- 22:42Speaker 3: to do this or something.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Correct Now further findings and other videos. As people look closer,
- 22:48Speaker 1: they would find this to be very true. In fact,
- 22:50Speaker 1: it's faint, but through her videos there are some points
- 22:54Speaker 1: where a man's voice can be heard whispering to Kate,
- 22:58Speaker 1: instructing her, instructing her things like come on, swallow it,
- 23:04Speaker 1: hurry up faster.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, yes, oh my gosh, I really don't
- 23:12Speaker 3: like that.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It seems like whoever this is there for one reason
- 23:17Speaker 1: or another coercing cape to keep eating, and, according to
- 23:22Speaker 1: internet sleuths, perhaps against your will.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Well yeah, because those kind of commands don't necessarily seem
- 23:28Speaker 3: like they're in this together.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Right, It also doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad either.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I guess. But I mean, if we were in on
- 23:37Speaker 3: something like this, and like I was eating all this
- 23:40Speaker 3: nasty food and like you were commanding things like that,
- 23:42Speaker 3: I don't feel like i'd be like so into that.
- 23:45Speaker 1: That's true, But also think of it this way. If
- 23:47Speaker 1: it's say a coach is on the side of a
- 23:50Speaker 1: swimming pool and someone's swimming laps and trying to get faster,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and the coach is shouting these things at them, is
- 23:55Speaker 1: that a bad thing? The coach is trying to get
- 23:58Speaker 1: them to go right, I guess is it bad?
- 24:02Speaker 3: What are the commands again?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Um, come on, swallow it, hurry up faster or I
- 24:11Speaker 1: believe it was fast. Actually I think I wrote that
- 24:13Speaker 1: in correctly.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Fast Okay, I mean the hurry up one, I guess
- 24:18Speaker 3: is the worst one. I feel.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, there are some other ones as well. That's just
- 24:23Speaker 1: some of the more prominent ones.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Now another thing that was found at eight fifty or sorry,
- 24:29Speaker 1: five thirty seven. I don't know why I said eight.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Kate begins to tap on the side of the bowl
- 24:34Speaker 1: very quickly as the bowl that she's eating from, which
- 24:37Speaker 1: some claim is Morse code for things like SOS or
- 24:41Speaker 1: I need help. There's multiple claims of what it is
- 24:45Speaker 1: translated from. Okay, but this one is easily debunked by
- 24:49Speaker 1: people who actually know Morse code, though we will touch
- 24:52Speaker 1: on that in a moment as well. Also in that
- 24:56Speaker 1: same video, at seventeen minutes and thirty five seconds, there
- 24:59Speaker 1: is texts that pops up on the screen that reads
- 25:01Speaker 1: this and I quote the meat is so delicious, soft
- 25:05Speaker 1: and tender. Now, the problem with that is there are
- 25:10Speaker 1: certain letters capitalized in the spelling of that sentence. All
- 25:14Speaker 1: of them are lowercase except three letters, three letters that
- 25:19Speaker 1: say s.
- 25:21Speaker 3: S really correct really really holy shit. Yes, that seems
- 25:33Speaker 3: very alarming.
- 25:34Speaker 1: It does seem very alarming, and this got people even
- 25:38Speaker 1: more riled up.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Holy It's like she's trying to put a hint out
- 25:44Speaker 3: there that she needs some help or something.
- 25:47Speaker 1: If that is a legitimate thing, that she did on purpose.
- 25:51Speaker 1: That is literally calling for help. SOS is save our souls.
- 25:55Speaker 1: That's what it stands for. It's an international symbol for help.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I mean, unless it's just like random, but that seems
- 26:03Speaker 3: it seems.
- 26:04Speaker 1: A little particular to be random.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Now, almost a month after that particular video where these
- 26:11Speaker 1: things were found, another post by Kate was on August
- 26:17Speaker 1: fifteenth of twenty nineteen, titled quote I Am Alive. She
- 26:23Speaker 1: addressed the concerns that everyone was having of her and
- 26:27Speaker 1: talking about this whole situation they're leaving it. In her comments,
- 26:31Speaker 1: she addressed it regarding her safety, telling people she's fine.
- 26:36Speaker 1: In this video, however, she doesn't talk just like the
- 26:39Speaker 1: rest of them. It's all texts that pops up on
- 26:42Speaker 1: the screen. So she does another muckbang in this video,
- 26:46Speaker 1: as she always does, chowing down on some insane amount
- 26:48Speaker 1: of seafood, especially for her frail stature. I might add,
- 26:53Speaker 1: but in this video the text pop ups on the screen.
- 26:55Speaker 1: You know, you can see her smile begin to eat
- 26:58Speaker 1: and the textbox pop up, and what these textboxes read
- 27:01Speaker 1: really caught people's eye, especially concerning the last one that
- 27:06Speaker 1: may have said you know SOS right, So with these
- 27:09Speaker 1: certain textboxes, certain capital letters again appeared. Now these textboxes
- 27:16Speaker 1: were not in this specific order, but the only capital
- 27:20Speaker 1: letters were on these sentences, and they go a little
- 27:23Speaker 1: something like this. First one, Hey, I'm alive, my friends,
- 27:29Speaker 1: you can see to my smile. The next one, everything
- 27:34Speaker 1: is okay for me? Next look at me? Are you
- 27:39Speaker 1: really thinking I'm forced to eat? The next one prawn?
- 27:44Speaker 1: Just smaller than giant shrimps and easier to eat because
- 27:47Speaker 1: I can remove the skin. Now, the capital letters in
- 27:52Speaker 1: each one of those was the very first letter of
- 27:55Speaker 1: each sentence, okay, and the very first words. I'll read
- 27:59Speaker 1: the first words of each one and just pay attention
- 28:01Speaker 1: to the first letter. Hey, everything look prompt. The capital
- 28:09Speaker 1: letters were H, E, L P, hmmm.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. This is just getting worse and worse.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Yes, it's extremely suspicious and those like that. People are
- 28:26Speaker 1: freaking out and panicking. Yes, they're asking Kate, like are
- 28:29Speaker 1: you okay? How can we help you? Like say something?
- 28:32Speaker 3: Oh, but that's almost like potentially like making it worse
- 28:36Speaker 3: or something. Yeah, I think it sounds like though, there's
- 28:38Speaker 3: so many people looking into this and like trying to
- 28:41Speaker 3: do what they could, but what could they do?
- 28:43Speaker 1: Well, and the problem is, like you say, it could
- 28:45Speaker 1: be making it worse because people are trying to contact her,
- 28:48Speaker 1: say like, you know, let us know. So there are
- 28:51Speaker 1: actual comments if you scroll through her videos, like stop
- 28:53Speaker 1: asking about this because you very well could be putting
- 28:55Speaker 1: her in a more dangerous situation.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Yeah. But then also it's very hard to just do
- 29:01Speaker 3: nothing too when this person is like it's very seemingly
- 29:04Speaker 3: asking for help. It seems like yep.
- 29:07Speaker 1: And now Kate also posts a quote comment on the
- 29:10Speaker 1: top of one of her videos regarding the apparent Morse
- 29:13Speaker 1: code around this time. Now on this this comment, it
- 29:17Speaker 1: reads this. Now it reminds you this is not Kate's commenting.
- 29:22Speaker 1: This is someone else who wrote this. Kate just took
- 29:25Speaker 1: this and pinned it to the top okay.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Of the comment section.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yes, okay, so that comment went like this, it's not
- 29:33Speaker 1: morse code. That isn't even how morse code works. It
- 29:37Speaker 1: is a series of short and long pulses. Even thinking
- 29:39Speaker 1: outside of the box, by assuming she is using one
- 29:43Speaker 1: finger for long pulses and one finger for short pulses,
- 29:46Speaker 1: she taps three fingers on the bowl. It is just
- 29:49Speaker 1: random tapping. There is no correlation between her tapping and
- 29:52Speaker 1: Morse code. I couldn't identify a single letter, so that
- 29:56Speaker 1: Morse code is effectively ruled out, and Kate this to
- 30:00Speaker 1: the top, trying to rule it out herself as well.
- 30:04Speaker 3: But unless it's a code, that's it is a code,
- 30:07Speaker 3: but it's just something between her and the person that's
- 30:10Speaker 3: in the room with her.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Potentially potentially potentially like.
- 30:15Speaker 3: They have some sort of some code system that they
- 30:18Speaker 3: use or something that's true.
- 30:19Speaker 1: But what would they be trying to communicate then.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, maybe she did need help or
- 30:25Speaker 3: to stop or I don't know.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Who knows. Now much of this could be tied up
- 30:30Speaker 1: to misinformation, or it could be something like you said,
- 30:33Speaker 1: an inside piece. It's hard to say. But then after
- 30:38Speaker 1: this three videos later, on November tenth of twenty nineteen,
- 30:42Speaker 1: Kate Yup would upload her final video titled I Lose
- 30:47Speaker 1: my tooth during this.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Meal, oh my gosh.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And having a textbox within this video saying this I quote,
- 30:56Speaker 1: oh my god, I can die in peace. After this
- 30:59Speaker 1: bite before she disappeared, she would say that no face reveal,
- 31:05Speaker 1: no assurance that she is okay, nothing, just stopped uploading.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And how consistently were these videos being uploaded and such
- 31:15Speaker 3: a four about once a month.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Oh okay, and that was her last one was in
- 31:20Speaker 1: twenty nineteen.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Hmm, so not even that long ago, really not really?
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, in that video that she posted where she
- 31:28Speaker 1: claims to have lose a tooth, Kate does in fact
- 31:31Speaker 1: lose two teeth while eating. In that video.
- 31:34Speaker 3: What is she eating?
- 31:35Speaker 1: She's eating seafood, is normal, but she pulls out a
- 31:38Speaker 1: tooth and she shows it to the camera and continues
- 31:40Speaker 1: to eat, and then later it pulls out another.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Oh oh my gosh. Yeah, oh that's too much.
- 31:46Speaker 1: And this whole tooth loss thing caused a lot of
- 31:50Speaker 1: affirmation that something was in fact wrong. But the question
- 31:54Speaker 1: is what is wrong?
- 31:57Speaker 2: Well?
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yeah, because like any seafood, is that going to make
- 32:00Speaker 3: you lose a tooth?
- 32:02Speaker 1: It's hard. Who knows? Would getting punched in the face
- 32:05Speaker 1: make you lose a tooth? Yes, who knows? The problem
- 32:10Speaker 1: is we don't know. Kate has never been identified, she
- 32:13Speaker 1: has never been heard from since. It's ridiculous. However, there
- 32:18Speaker 1: are some theories, sorry, surrounding the whole mystery with Kate.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I should say this, who she was, what happened?
- 32:25Speaker 3: There are theories good, well, gosh, because this is like,
- 32:29Speaker 3: I want to know what the heck's going on here?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Well, as far as we know, that is the end
- 32:33Speaker 1: of Kate's story, but these theories might fill in some
- 32:36Speaker 1: of the blanks. The most popular theory online is that
- 32:39Speaker 1: Kate had been kidnapped and was used in some sort
- 32:42Speaker 1: of human trafficking situation. Okay, whoever the person is who
- 32:47Speaker 1: is whispering to her behind the camera is perhaps holding
- 32:50Speaker 1: her captive, perhaps starving her and abusing her, then letting
- 32:55Speaker 1: her feast and forcing her to binge eat all this
- 32:57Speaker 1: food to make these sick videos to post online.
- 33:01Speaker 3: That sounds awful.
- 33:03Speaker 1: The motive for this, however, is a little unclear. This
- 33:07Speaker 1: theory would suggest that if Kate is in fact kidnapped,
- 33:12Speaker 1: she would be issued the ability to edit her own videos,
- 33:15Speaker 1: her own kidnapped videos. Otherwise, how would the subliminal message
- 33:19Speaker 1: of SOS and help be integrated into the videos?
- 33:22Speaker 3: Oh? Okay, like you're meaning, she wouldn't have been able
- 33:25Speaker 3: to edit those her own videos.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Well, the theory says she is, Oh she is, because
- 33:31Speaker 1: the captors sure aren't going to put those messages in
- 33:33Speaker 1: the videos, right, So if she is kidnapped and being
- 33:37Speaker 1: forced to do this on camera. She would have to
- 33:40Speaker 1: have the ability to edit her.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Own videos, right, which doesn't really.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Does logical at all.
- 33:45Speaker 3: It's not logical what the kidnappers would be the ones
- 33:49Speaker 3: most likely putting the video out there exactly.
- 33:52Speaker 1: And if that were the case, wouldn't it make a
- 33:54Speaker 1: lot more sense to like one frame, do like a
- 33:58Speaker 1: big write up on help me. My name is so one,
- 34:00Speaker 1: so I'm being held by this guy whatever. The captors
- 34:03Speaker 1: watching it won't see a single frame, but Internet sleuths
- 34:06Speaker 1: who are watching it frame by frame certainly would. It
- 34:11Speaker 1: would make a lot more sense to do something like
- 34:12Speaker 1: that than a random SOS and say, no, I'm fine,
- 34:16Speaker 1: disregard that.
- 34:17Speaker 3: But maybe they didn't. They wouldn't know to think to
- 34:19Speaker 3: just do a little message like that on a frame.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I mean, I would know.
- 34:23Speaker 1: That's true, but regardless, it certainly doesn't make sense to
- 34:27Speaker 1: let the kidnap e edit the videos.
- 34:30Speaker 3: No, it does not at all. Actually, dang, because that
- 34:34Speaker 3: one makes a lot of sense.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, sorry, I don't know where I'm at on
- 34:39Speaker 1: my notes now. I just went off on a ramble. Okay, yeah, sorry,
- 34:44Speaker 1: got it. There is a name actually that some people
- 34:46Speaker 1: think they may have that is linked up to Kate yep.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Okay, linked up to Kate yep Oh.
- 34:54Speaker 1: That name is Carly Goose. Now. Carly is a Californian
- 34:58Speaker 1: teen who went missing in two thousand and eight. She
- 35:02Speaker 1: was sixteen years old when she went missing, and she
- 35:04Speaker 1: hasn't been seen or heard from since. The case has
- 35:09Speaker 1: unfortunately gone cold since many people think that Carly Goose
- 35:14Speaker 1: could be Kate yup.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Really and they're just thinking this from like the nose
- 35:21Speaker 3: down that they look similar pretty much.
- 35:23Speaker 1: It's a similar smile, similar stature, potential age. But since
- 35:27Speaker 1: they know since Kate's never shown her face, they don't
- 35:30Speaker 1: have much to go on. But they're thinking, Okay, if
- 35:33Speaker 1: Kate is a missing person, a kidnapped individual, we should
- 35:36Speaker 1: look at missing persons reports, right, this person is missing
- 35:40Speaker 1: looks fairly similar, could it be?
- 35:42Speaker 3: And sorry, where did you say they were missing from California?
- 35:47Speaker 1: Which doesn't really line up so much with the idea
- 35:50Speaker 1: of Kate being from France exactly. Yeah, this is actually
- 35:53Speaker 1: a good I point for me to say this. I
- 35:55Speaker 1: didn't know where I'm going to put this information, so
- 35:57Speaker 1: here it is. There are some small pieces of information
- 36:01Speaker 1: that actually tie Kate to France a little more so,
- 36:04Speaker 1: being there is a grill in one shot of her videos,
- 36:09Speaker 1: and that grill has been identified to be a French
- 36:11Speaker 1: grill from France, as well as a Coca Cola bottle
- 36:15Speaker 1: that was written in French. So there's there's a few
- 36:18Speaker 1: little pieces that have been brought forward to identify that
- 36:21Speaker 1: her videos are in.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Fact from France and not Quebec.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Correct, So, a missing team from California being the person
- 36:30Speaker 1: in France is a bit of a stretch.
- 36:32Speaker 3: It does seem like a bit of a stretch. That
- 36:34Speaker 3: so is it Quebec That would seem like quite as
- 36:37Speaker 3: much of a stretch.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Correct. Now, Unfortunately, it's pretty much proven that these two
- 36:45Speaker 1: aren't going to be the same individual. If you look
- 36:48Speaker 1: at some of the distinguished, distinguished distinguishing features there we
- 36:53Speaker 1: go on Kate versus is Carly, they don't quite line up,
- 36:59Speaker 1: things like freckles and moles. There's two particular freckles on
- 37:03Speaker 1: Kate's neck that Carly does not have.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, because I mean, oh, that is a it
- 37:10Speaker 3: is a good theory. But it's also if this person
- 37:13Speaker 3: was from France, I would very much think so but
- 37:16Speaker 3: the fact that they're like way all across the world
- 37:19Speaker 3: kind of in California right now.
- 37:21Speaker 1: There is another theory that popped up on Reddit from
- 37:24Speaker 1: the username of Ashmel fifteen regarding another individual that could
- 37:29Speaker 1: be Kate, and this one's a little more believable. Now.
- 37:33Speaker 1: They say that Kate is a European female UFC fighter
- 37:37Speaker 1: by the name of I'm going to butcher her name
- 37:39Speaker 1: because it's a really hard name to say, but Joanna Zidyechek,
- 37:43Speaker 1: I believe is how you say her last name. Again,
- 37:46Speaker 1: this theory points to similar appearances between the two, except
- 37:48Speaker 1: this time Johanna is not a kidnapping victim. She is
- 37:52Speaker 1: a fighter, which would explain you know why she has
- 37:55Speaker 1: bruises and cuts on her body? Okay, yeah, professional fighter,
- 37:59Speaker 1: you know you're going to take punches. That's part of
- 38:01Speaker 1: the game exactly. So cut and lip in fact also
- 38:04Speaker 1: matched with one that Johanna had on her lip, so
- 38:08Speaker 1: the Kate and Johanna cut line up. This would also
- 38:12Speaker 1: explain why Kate had managed to stay so thin after
- 38:15Speaker 1: eating so much eleven pounds of salmon in her first video,
- 38:19Speaker 1: not gaming gaining an ounce that would explain it because
- 38:23Speaker 1: to be a UFC fighter, you would have an extreme
- 38:25Speaker 1: workout routine to burn all these calories or a reason
- 38:28Speaker 1: to actually eat that much to specifically bulk up in
- 38:31Speaker 1: your diet.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, she's a professional athlete. Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 1: And it would also give a reason for her to
- 38:36Speaker 1: hide her identity online because she doesn't want to be
- 38:38Speaker 1: tied up with her personality in the UFC ring.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Huh? And where is this person living and stuff?
- 38:45Speaker 1: I'm not too sure where exactly she's from, but she
- 38:48Speaker 1: is from over in Europe somewhere. Oh, I didn't look
- 38:51Speaker 1: up her exactly where she lives.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Wow. Hmmm, So that one really seems good.
- 39:00Speaker 1: It is pretty pretty tight, except again the marks on
- 39:06Speaker 1: her body.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Oh shit.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Also, more specifically, we're not so sure with the previous one,
- 39:13Speaker 1: but with Johanna, we do know for sure. She does
- 39:15Speaker 1: not have a small tattoo on her wrist that kate
- 39:18Speaker 1: Yup actually does have. Kate Yup in her early videos
- 39:21Speaker 1: shows a tattoo about the side of a quarter on
- 39:23Speaker 1: her left wrist, which she later covers up with a wristband.
- 39:26Speaker 3: But yeah, okay, in this UFC fighter sorry what was
- 39:31Speaker 3: her name, Johanna does not have this.
- 39:35Speaker 1: She does not have that tattoo nor the same freckles
- 39:38Speaker 1: or marks that Kate Yup has.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Okay, well that's out then.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and unfortunately, no one has ever been able to
- 39:47Speaker 1: find a suspected individual with the same tattoo as Kate.
- 39:54Speaker 1: But there is another person out there, a YouTuber who
- 39:58Speaker 1: did find a very convincing lead. The YouTuber is by
- 40:03Speaker 1: the name of Tory Kinlove did some reverse Google search
- 40:08Speaker 1: sor reverse Google image searching theory and found a Facebook
- 40:12Speaker 1: photo tagging a woman by the name of Kate Yup
- 40:16Speaker 1: located in France. She compared the photo of the girl
- 40:22Speaker 1: to Kate Yup from her YouTube videos resemblance and all
- 40:27Speaker 1: that was extremely convincing. In fact, the two were very
- 40:31Speaker 1: wearing very similar rings on the same fingers as well.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Huh.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Unfortunately, the photo that she found on Facebook was taken
- 40:40Speaker 1: at a distance which made it very hard to see
- 40:42Speaker 1: things like freckles and moles, so they could not be
- 40:45Speaker 1: identified to be confirming, and even more so unfortunate, the
- 40:50Speaker 1: photo has since been removed by the individual who posted
- 40:54Speaker 1: it and tagged Kate.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Okay, well, that seems kind of fishy.
- 40:58Speaker 1: That is extremely fishy. So whether this is her or not,
- 41:03Speaker 1: the main question is was Kate kidnapped? Was she a
- 41:07Speaker 1: victim of some sort of violence or some sort of scenario,
- 41:10Speaker 1: or is there something else at play?
- 41:14Speaker 3: Huh and literally in twenty nineteen, just cold turkey, like
- 41:19Speaker 3: nothing else from this person norrecked. Okay?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Correct? Now, here are some theories that may explain something
- 41:26Speaker 1: in a little bit of a different light rather than
- 41:29Speaker 1: she's kidnapped or something like that. Right, So, primarily Kate
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yup has an eating disorder, an eating disorder that we
- 41:38Speaker 1: all are all very familiar with. Actually bolimia. Now, as
- 41:42Speaker 1: described by a website Maoclinic dot organ that I found,
- 41:45Speaker 1: they put it together very well in a description here,
- 41:48Speaker 1: people with bolimia may secretly binge, eating large amounts of
- 41:52Speaker 1: food with a loss of control over their eating, and
- 41:56Speaker 1: then purge, trying to get rid of the extra calories
- 41:59Speaker 1: in an unhealthy the way.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 42:01Speaker 1: That sounds a lot like what Kate Yup could have
- 42:04Speaker 1: very potentially have been doing.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I haven't said that. I was like, what
- 42:07Speaker 3: are they doing with all this food?
- 42:09Speaker 1: Was she throwing it up? Now? Furthermore, bolina is of
- 42:13Speaker 1: course very hard on the body and can cause things
- 42:17Speaker 1: like very easily bruising, oh okay, and can cause damage
- 42:22Speaker 1: to an individual's teeth and gums, potentially explaining why she
- 42:27Speaker 1: so easily lost her tooth while eating.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Huh okay, I didn't know that part.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So this YouTube channel could have very well have been
- 42:36Speaker 1: Kate's outlet to binge eat, and of course she would
- 42:41Speaker 1: have covered up her face. Many people who suffer from
- 42:43Speaker 1: an eating disorder like this often view themselves in a
- 42:45Speaker 1: very negative way. Yeah, it's really sad, and they wouldn't
- 42:48Speaker 1: want to associate themselves with this binge eating act. It
- 42:53Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense. But what about the SOS message?
- 42:59Speaker 1: What about the help message? What about the man whispering
- 43:02Speaker 1: in the background?
- 43:05Speaker 3: Yeah? Because I also feel like if she was hiding this,
- 43:08Speaker 3: would she have had someone present? Right? Like, would someone
- 43:12Speaker 3: have been helping or doing this with her?
- 43:14Speaker 2: Like?
- 43:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that I just don't feel like that's right.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Well, this kind of leads to a little bit of
- 43:20Speaker 1: another theory about it being a bit of a setup.
- 43:26Speaker 1: As her channel grew, she began eating more, you know,
- 43:29Speaker 1: specifically for the views and specifically for the subscribers.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and making money potentially and such.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Right yep, So a boyfriend or someone very well could
- 43:37Speaker 1: have been there to help her and keep her eating
- 43:40Speaker 1: to maintain these views, coercing her to keep going, very
- 43:44Speaker 1: much so like a coach on the edge of a
- 43:46Speaker 1: boxing ring or a swimming pool, helping the person continue
- 43:49Speaker 1: to go. Now, especially even if you do include the
- 43:53Speaker 1: eating disorder within this, it makes a lot of it.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I don't think that someone who views this eating in
- 44:00Speaker 1: a negative light, who just does it once in a
- 44:02Speaker 1: while because they need to, is going to want to
- 44:06Speaker 1: do it more for the views when they want to,
- 44:09Speaker 1: especially when there's such negative connotations attached to it. Now,
- 44:13Speaker 1: As for the messages, it could have been something that
- 44:15Speaker 1: got out of hand again playing with views and subscribers.
- 44:20Speaker 1: People watching develop theories and continue to watch more and more.
- 44:24Speaker 1: So Kate could have simply gave them something to watch
- 44:27Speaker 1: for and theorize about, and then when things got a
- 44:30Speaker 1: little too out of control, whether it was something like
- 44:33Speaker 1: an eating disorder or potentially fan theories getting far beyond
- 44:38Speaker 1: anything she could comprehend, was done with it. Yeah, she
- 44:43Speaker 1: could have simply just walked away and dissociated herself from
- 44:47Speaker 1: this YouTube channel altogether.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Wow huh, this is just like mind blowing though, But
- 44:57Speaker 3: it is. I also just feel that theory too. It
- 44:59Speaker 3: the but the coach or whatever, and like if this
- 45:02Speaker 3: person did kind of suffer from an eating disorder, like
- 45:05Speaker 3: I don't love that, oh no at all. Like is
- 45:08Speaker 3: that someone that literally is like a loved one, you know,
- 45:11Speaker 3: Like that just doesn't make sense.
- 45:13Speaker 1: In all honesty. I don't think there's a single thing
- 45:15Speaker 1: about this case, any scenario. I don't love a kidnapping victim.
- 45:20Speaker 1: I don't love I guess actually, if it is the
- 45:22Speaker 1: UFC fighter who's just like, yeah, I'm gonna hide my
- 45:23Speaker 1: identity and I'll just do it, what if I want?
- 45:25Speaker 3: That would seem terrible? Does it?
- 45:27Speaker 1: No, it doesn't, but it's it's proven to not be
- 45:29Speaker 1: her right. But if it is an eating disorder, I
- 45:33Speaker 1: don't love that this individual is going through that. If
- 45:35Speaker 1: it is someone who's coercing them to do it, I
- 45:37Speaker 1: don't love that. If it is someone who's fishing for
- 45:39Speaker 1: views and subscribers and faking this, I don't love that. Yeah,
- 45:43Speaker 1: of course, all this, unfortunately is just speculation though, like
- 45:48Speaker 1: everything surrounding this is pure speculation. Was Kate ever in danger?
- 45:52Speaker 1: Was it from another person or herself that she was
- 45:55Speaker 1: in danger from? Was it all in act? Was it
- 45:58Speaker 1: a kink between two people to consenting adults? Yeah, just
- 46:03Speaker 1: got wrapped up in the Internet. I don't know. We
- 46:05Speaker 1: honestly probably won't ever know. The only way we'll ever
- 46:08Speaker 1: solve this is if another video is posted on Kate's channel.
- 46:12Speaker 3: And I mean honestly too, like what happens if she
- 46:15Speaker 3: did die or something right? But it was even like
- 46:18Speaker 3: just a car accident or something right, and that's why
- 46:21Speaker 3: the video stopped too.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Yep, we most likely will never know as off right
- 46:27Speaker 1: now though Kate's channel has one point three nine million
- 46:30Speaker 1: subscribers and only twenty nine videos.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Wow.
- 46:34Speaker 1: The thirtieth video where her teeth actually fallout, has since
- 46:37Speaker 1: been removed by YouTube for violating guidelines.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Oh has it okay?
- 46:43Speaker 1: Which I'm assuming it's the teeth falling out that they
- 46:46Speaker 1: were not cool with?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Well, yeah, because so, because I'm very intrigued to know
- 46:50Speaker 3: what that she was eating at that point, I was
- 46:52Speaker 3: almost gonna go look, even though it's like I don't
- 46:55Speaker 3: know if I want to.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I haven't found the exact video, like
- 46:59Speaker 1: the entire video myself, but I'm sure you could find
- 47:02Speaker 1: the whole thing out there. I've seen clips, but not
- 47:04Speaker 1: the whole thing. But you can definitely go take a
- 47:06Speaker 1: look and see what she was eating.
- 47:07Speaker 3: For sure, and so and she was really only had
- 47:10Speaker 3: those injuries in one video, wasn't it?
- 47:13Speaker 1: Or was there other The bruising on the arm was
- 47:16Speaker 1: in one particular video, but there she's wearing longer sleeve
- 47:20Speaker 1: shirts and.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Other videos too, you wouldn't even know.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Which leads to more speculation, right, she covering things up.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Exactly, huh. But I do think that if that was
- 47:31Speaker 3: some sort of like uh like assault or whatever, that
- 47:36Speaker 3: they would probably have covered that up as well. Yeah,
- 47:39Speaker 3: in that video.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Now the people have gone down like major major internet
- 47:44Speaker 1: sleuthing over this case as far as trying to find
- 47:48Speaker 1: reflections and the bowls and the the oh my god, individuals.
- 47:53Speaker 3: It's so amazing what they do.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yes, though nothing has been found. But one thing I
- 47:58Speaker 1: really like, actually, her finger nail are usually like well
- 48:02Speaker 1: taken care of. Would a kidnapped victim have very nice
- 48:06Speaker 1: manicured fingers now?
- 48:08Speaker 3: I doubt it not at all, unless unless they're prepping
- 48:11Speaker 3: it exactly.
- 48:13Speaker 1: So, now we're just right back to where we started exactly.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Yeah, everything had it seems so much makes sense but
- 48:19Speaker 3: then it's like, well.
- 48:22Speaker 1: The sum of this is there's an individual who was
- 48:27Speaker 1: eating a crap ton of food on YouTube, got famous
- 48:31Speaker 1: for it, and they stopped posting.
- 48:34Speaker 3: And then seemed to disappear.
- 48:35Speaker 1: That is all we know. We know nothing else. Everything
- 48:40Speaker 1: else has been completely fabricated by the Internet.
- 48:44Speaker 3: And I wonder if there's still people out there looking
- 48:46Speaker 3: into this.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Oh there is, yeah. Yeah. You go to Kate's YouTube channel,
- 48:50Speaker 1: there are people posting daily comments regarding this. You go
- 48:53Speaker 1: to Reddit, there's people talking about it.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Wow.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yep. Now, whether the these conspiracy theories are true or not,
- 49:01Speaker 1: that's who knows. We'll probably never find out.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Yeah, And honestly, my brain I'm going back and forth.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I have no idea which one I think it is.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I hope you can sleep good tonight after this one.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 49:14Speaker 3: My mind is going a mile minute because I in
- 49:17Speaker 3: my head, I'm like it's that one for sure, like yeah,
- 49:19Speaker 3: and then you'll say something else because I'm.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Like, oh, yeah, well we'll probably never know, huh. And
- 49:26Speaker 1: that is the story of Kate yup.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Wow, that is like so interesting And I've never heard
- 49:31Speaker 3: anything about this. I didn't even know what the what
- 49:34Speaker 3: did you call it again, muckbang, muckbang. I didn't even
- 49:37Speaker 3: know that was a thing that existed.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Before, clear clearly because you asked me to define it incessantly,
- 49:43Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's coming up, comya, tits.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Well, am I the only person in the world that
- 49:47Speaker 3: doesn't know.
- 49:47Speaker 2: What that is?
- 49:48Speaker 1: No, I'm sure you're not okay.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Because that's like a whole new world for me.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry, I won't, I won't. All right, Well,
- 49:58Speaker 1: thank you for listening. I hope you guys enjoyed this case.
