- 0:41Speaker 3: Good Wednesday afternoon, everybody, It's an all Willie Wednesday here
- 0:44Speaker 3: as we get you through the middle of the week,
- 0:47Speaker 3: and we got a big show today. The Astros are
- 0:51Speaker 3: not playing this afternoon. That game has been rained out.
- 0:56Speaker 3: It'll be a doubleheader tomorrow. Stay on the Socials to
- 1:00Speaker 3: see how Brian Broadcasting handles the broadcasting of that game.
- 1:09Speaker 3: If it's going to be possible for tomorrow. But the
- 1:13Speaker 3: Astros postponed eleven and nineteen, and that'll be the start
- 1:19Speaker 3: of our sports headlines brought to us by Central Texas
- 1:23Speaker 3: Sports Medicine as my Houston Astros continue on this terrible
- 1:30Speaker 3: streak there on right now, where the pitching is not
- 1:38Speaker 3: up to par despite an offense for the Astros that
- 1:42Speaker 3: is going alright, But they lost five to three yesterday
- 1:50Speaker 3: when they only give up five runs. That tells you
- 1:53Speaker 3: where you are with the pitching staff because you only
- 1:57Speaker 3: give up five runs and I'm thinking, hey, you had.
- 2:00Speaker 4: A chance to win that one. But they're going to
- 2:03Speaker 4: go at eleven thirty.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Five tomorrow, and the Astros here are four and a
- 2:09Speaker 3: half games behind the Athletics and Seattle their one game back.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Oakland is the only team in the American League West
- 2:21Speaker 3: with a winning record. So despite the fact that the
- 2:26Speaker 3: Astros are eleven and nineteen, they are still only four
- 2:30Speaker 3: and a half games out of first place behind the Eights,
- 2:36Speaker 3: which means when it gets to May, the whole season
- 2:42Speaker 3: can be played over it. You can act like the
- 2:44Speaker 3: month April never happened. But that's okay. We'll get the
- 2:47Speaker 3: Astros report coming up later. That's about four forty today.
- 2:51Speaker 3: We have Steve Dinton. He's going to come on and
- 2:53Speaker 3: talk about the Aggies and men's tennis as they get
- 2:57Speaker 3: ready for the NCAA tournament this week end, and we
- 3:02Speaker 3: go take a quick look back at what happened as
- 3:05Speaker 3: far as the SEC tournament which was hosted here, and
- 3:12Speaker 3: you know, you had some great tennis being played out
- 3:15Speaker 3: at the at the Mitchell Tennis Center. So the Aggies
- 3:19Speaker 3: will be hosting the first and second rounts. So let's
- 3:24Speaker 3: see what else is going on in the world of
- 3:27Speaker 3: sports today. We are also going to hear from Trisha
- 3:31Speaker 3: Ford today as they get ready to play top ranked
- 3:35Speaker 3: or maybe their second ranked now Oklahoma this weekend. And
- 3:38Speaker 3: then also Aggie baseball last night with ay come from
- 3:42Speaker 3: behind nine seven victory over Tarleton. We're going to hear
- 3:46Speaker 3: from the head coach, Michael Early. We're gonna hear from
- 3:52Speaker 3: Fresh Corn and I don't know who the third interview
- 3:54Speaker 3: is at. Who's the third guy up, Cayden Surrell. Well,
- 3:58Speaker 3: that's interesting enough because I spoke with Kayden Cerell and
- 4:03Speaker 3: Fresh Core in the postgame show last night, so we'll
- 4:09Speaker 3: get to hear from them. Oh no, that's Tyler Darton.
- 4:12Speaker 3: That is not Fresh Corn, So it'll be early Darden
- 4:16Speaker 3: and Serell coming up here in the first half hour,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I'm sorry, before the forty five, before the forty five today.
- 4:25Speaker 3: So all right, let's see what else is going on.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Lebron James and Michael Jordan, who's the greatest player of
- 4:36Speaker 3: all time. But the game's different. And if the game
- 4:44Speaker 3: is different, what does that mean. Well, they're not the player,
- 4:49Speaker 3: same player. Obviously, you're not playing in the league now
- 4:53Speaker 3: where they play much defense. I mean, I won't take
- 4:56Speaker 3: anything from Wimbayama because he's he's a great defensive player. Okay, buddy,
- 5:04Speaker 3: he's Ralph Sampson all over again. It's just you're rewarded
- 5:07Speaker 3: for being a big man shooting and making some three
- 5:10Speaker 3: pointers now that you weren't before. So defensively, not the
- 5:15Speaker 3: same game. There is nobody like the bad Boy Pistons,
- 5:19Speaker 3: like the Lakers were defensively very underrated having to go
- 5:24Speaker 3: against Elija Wan Clayton. I mean, Lebron James did not
- 5:28Speaker 3: have to do that. So but who says you can't
- 5:32Speaker 3: be the best two players of all time? And that
- 5:38Speaker 3: would be kind of hard to think that they're not
- 5:41Speaker 3: the best two players of all time. So but lots
- 5:46Speaker 3: of interviews. Is he at the end of his you know, career?
- 5:52Speaker 3: Is it almost over? Well after they eliminate the Rockets
- 5:59Speaker 3: coming up here. I don't know if it's today or tomorrow.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Let's see the next game for the Rockets. It's tonight
- 6:08Speaker 3: at nine o'clock. The Lakers lead three games to one and.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Still know.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Durant he's gonna miss this game as well. So if
- 6:23Speaker 3: the Rockets come back and win this, it would be
- 6:26Speaker 3: a miracle.
- 6:28Speaker 4: But hey, it's Christmas. Believe in miracles.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Let's see what's going on in the world of NFL.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I haven't been on since the NFL Draft. I like
- 6:41Speaker 3: what the Dallas Cowboys have done. It's not as egregious
- 6:47Speaker 3: as some of the years.
- 6:50Speaker 4: The Cowboys do draft well.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Okay, they do draft well, but after that first contract
- 6:58Speaker 3: there's issues because sometimes they delay the second contract.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Uh.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Caleb Downs is as good a defensive back as there
- 7:10Speaker 3: was in the country. As opposed to what anybody says,
- 7:16Speaker 3: you're you're changing the narrative if you don't think Caleb
- 7:21Speaker 3: Downs was the best player on the Ohio State defense
- 7:23Speaker 3: this year.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Now they got the.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Best player in the country played wide receiver who was
- 7:29Speaker 3: probably the number two pick in next year's draft after
- 7:32Speaker 3: somebody drafts Arch Manning. But the real best player is
- 7:36Speaker 3: their wide receiver. This guy went up against him every day, so, uh,
- 7:42Speaker 3: Malachi Lawrence, you know, we'll talk about him coming up.
- 7:46Speaker 3: So I like the ass the Cowboys draft. I like
- 7:51Speaker 3: what they've done. We'll kind of take a look, kind
- 7:53Speaker 3: of an in depth look at you know, some of
- 7:56Speaker 3: that coming up here later on in the show as well,
- 8:00Speaker 3: because it was interesting hearing the interview with Sherien Williams
- 8:05Speaker 3: about cash As Howe and you know him not going
- 8:10Speaker 3: as high. Well, I think some teams missed miss some opportunities,
- 8:16Speaker 3: including the Cowboys, So we'll talk about that coming up
- 8:20Speaker 3: as well. The Texas Rangers, I think they already played today.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I know Chip is listening in and he probably knows
- 8:29Speaker 3: that the Rangers actually lead the Yankees three to nothing
- 8:34Speaker 3: in the bottom of the eighth inning. So right now,
- 8:40Speaker 3: it's been a great game for the Rangers. And the
- 8:44Speaker 3: kind of performance that you need to get when you're
- 8:47Speaker 3: going against the Yankees is and the ball Tonight Ivaldi,
- 8:53Speaker 3: who has been known.
- 8:55Speaker 4: As the Yankee Killer.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I mean, he has had plenty of games where you know,
- 9:01Speaker 3: he dominated the Yankees as a member of the Red Sox,
- 9:04Speaker 3: even as a member of the of the Rangers. So
- 9:07Speaker 3: he went seven innings, give up four hits, one walk,
- 9:10Speaker 3: and struck out seven and threw one hundred and two pitches.
- 9:13Speaker 3: So it's can they hold on and you know, can
- 9:18Speaker 3: they get some more insurance? Well that would probably be
- 9:20Speaker 3: nice as well. So Rangers trying to hold on there
- 9:25Speaker 3: and keep that game with a victory. Soccer, I know,
- 9:30Speaker 3: I don't talk a lot of soccer. Yesterday, got to
- 9:35Speaker 3: see some of PSG and Baarn play so five to
- 9:44Speaker 3: win win for Paris Saint Germain over Baron Munich. I'm
- 9:51Speaker 3: watching this. It's on CBS in the middle of the afternoon,
- 9:55Speaker 3: very interesting timeslot and kind of off and on of
- 10:00Speaker 3: seeing it, not really paying attention. PSG wins. And that's
- 10:04Speaker 3: when they dropped the bomb on me. Well, in the
- 10:07Speaker 3: aggregate they're plus one when they played the second part
- 10:10Speaker 3: of the semi final next week. It's on aggregate goals.
- 10:15Speaker 3: It's not on if you won the match that's going
- 10:19Speaker 3: on right now. And I just I could not think
- 10:22Speaker 3: of a sporting event where the aggregate mattered and not
- 10:27Speaker 3: the game that you're actually playing that day. I don't
- 10:29Speaker 3: think you would see the World Series winner determined on
- 10:34Speaker 3: the aggregate the number of runts scored by you and
- 10:36Speaker 3: your opponent. So that football confusing me. Maybe there's fluteball
- 10:44Speaker 3: fans out there that can explain it to me someday,
- 10:47Speaker 3: probably not today. All right, that's our sports headlines, brought
- 10:52Speaker 3: to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine. When we come back,
- 10:57Speaker 3: it's time for the Steve didn't show you for the
- 11:00Speaker 3: NCAA tournament coming up with the Aggies this weekend. Come
- 11:04Speaker 3: on back here, so on all Willie Wednesday the Sports
- 11:07Speaker 3: of Programs brought to you by and Co Insurance.

- 11:35Speaker 6: co Insurance a Hub International company, so you're ready for tomorrow.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Evn Kanty and Michelle are fun sportsman life.
- 11:42Speaker 1: He will not ask.
- 11:43Speaker 7: Out, but I think it will be so obvious to
- 11:45Speaker 7: both parties. We tried this, no bad blood. We move
- 11:49Speaker 7: on Kevin Durant with a group of young players as
- 11:52Speaker 7: the old.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Veteran doesn't make sense at this point in this career.
- 11:55Speaker 7: Kevin Durant makes sense joining a team with his peers
- 11:58Speaker 7: to try to win it all. I don't personally believe
- 12:00Speaker 7: Kevin Rant plays another game in his career for the Houston.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Rockets unsportsman like.
- 12:05Speaker 8: Listen in weekday mornings from Fine to Adam the Zone
- 12:08Speaker 8: eleven ninety three point seven.
- 12:10Speaker 9: FM, wilcome to the Steve Denton Show featuring the Men's
- 12:16Speaker 9: tennis coach at Texas A and M and your host
- 12:19Speaker 9: Chia Power. The Steve Denton Show is brought to you
- 12:21Speaker 9: by Texas Regional Liceenter.
- 12:26Speaker 3: All right, well we're efforting Steve Denton right now. We're
- 12:29Speaker 3: trying to get him online.
- 12:30Speaker 10: UH.
- 12:31Speaker 3: We'll see if that comes to fruition pretty quickly. See
- 12:36Speaker 3: if we give him a call back and see if
- 12:38Speaker 3: we can get the men's tennis coach online with the
- 12:42Speaker 3: UH with the Steve Denton Show and UH you know,
- 12:47Speaker 3: it's just kind of one of those weird Wednesday kind
- 12:51Speaker 3: of situations. It's interesting to hear them saying that, you know,
- 12:54Speaker 3: KD never play another game for the Rockets. Well, the
- 12:58Speaker 3: bad part is Steve Harden did the same thing, and
- 13:02Speaker 3: you know, I think that you see what happened there.
- 13:06Speaker 3: You also had, you know, other trades that the Rockets
- 13:12Speaker 3: have made trying to come up with the winning formula
- 13:19Speaker 3: as far as having you know, some sustainability, and I mean,
- 13:25Speaker 3: they traded some pretty important.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Pieces to Phoenix to get.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Durant and it has seemed like a couple of times
- 13:35Speaker 3: here recently it's not coming to fruition.
- 13:40Speaker 4: For the Rockets, and that's pretty frustrating.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I mean, it's not like you traded Luka Doncic, but
- 13:47Speaker 3: you know you still traded, you know, you you traded
- 13:51Speaker 3: up some of your pieces as well, and it's just
- 13:54Speaker 3: not you know, the kind of start that you want
- 13:57Speaker 3: to see when you're trying to get a run to
- 14:00Speaker 3: the playoffs. So we're still efforting. Coach Ddton has not
- 14:06Speaker 3: come on yet. Okay, tell you what we're gonna pivot.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Let's go to Aggie softball. Let's bring up the head
- 14:17Speaker 3: coach as we have the Aggie's in Oklahoma and softball
- 14:23Speaker 3: this weekend huge match and Trisha Ford spoke to the
- 14:28Speaker 3: media today about having the Oklahoma Sooners first time as
- 14:33Speaker 3: conference mates in a long time coming here this weekend.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Obviously, you know, the weekend didn't go the way we
- 14:40Speaker 5: had hoped it to, but onto the next you know,
- 14:45Speaker 5: I think there.
- 14:46Speaker 11: Were some moments of really good stuff.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I thought that we had some opportunities to break the
- 14:52Speaker 5: game open, and we just couldn't find a way to
- 14:55Speaker 5: break it open. We had traffic every you know, especially
- 14:59Speaker 5: day three, and just you know, sometimes you have weekends
- 15:02Speaker 5: like that, and you know, it is what it is.
- 15:04Speaker 5: It's a team game, and you know, when one part
- 15:08Speaker 5: of our game is having a hard time, it's our
- 15:10Speaker 5: responsibility to.
- 15:11Speaker 11: Pick it up. And we just did it.
- 15:13Speaker 5: You know, we couldn't manufacture enough runs to get things
- 15:16Speaker 5: going this weekend, So you know, it is what it is,
- 15:21Speaker 5: and you like, you know, it's good for this to
- 15:23Speaker 5: happen now instead of in a couple of weeks.
- 15:26Speaker 11: So you know, we'll get out on the field.
- 15:28Speaker 5: Today, get going on some things, and get ready for Oklahoma.
- 15:33Speaker 5: So I'm excited about that. Excited to get back on
- 15:35Speaker 5: the field. It's a short week. I feel like every
- 15:37Speaker 5: week has been a short week this year. But you know,
- 15:41Speaker 5: it's what a great opportunity. I think the fans will
- 15:44Speaker 5: be excited to see really good stop a lot.
- 15:46Speaker 12: Davis Diamond is you're hitting hiccups right now? Is it
- 15:51Speaker 12: is as simple to say that maybe your batters are
- 15:54Speaker 12: not swinging strikes more enough times or what do you think?
- 15:58Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 15:58Speaker 5: I just think we chase and one thing that we
- 16:00Speaker 5: do really well is we don't chase. And when you chase,
- 16:04Speaker 5: you know, it makes the game much more, you know,
- 16:07Speaker 5: it's much more difficult. I think there's a spell on
- 16:09Speaker 5: us when we go to South Carolina apparently that I need.
- 16:12Speaker 11: To find a voodoo doll to break.
- 16:15Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean I think you know, I was
- 16:18Speaker 5: talking to coach Charger. When you look at this whole
- 16:21Speaker 5: season overall, we've played a really tough schedule.
- 16:25Speaker 11: How many weekends can we.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Sit here and say, oh, we had a bad offensive weekend,
- 16:31Speaker 5: this might have been it? Like, there really hasn't been
- 16:33Speaker 5: a whole weekend where we're like, whoof, that wasn't good?
- 16:37Speaker 5: And so it's gonna happen and so what I you know,
- 16:40Speaker 5: I was it's.
- 16:41Speaker 11: Funny, but not funny.
- 16:42Speaker 5: But I'm like our team gets along so well that
- 16:44Speaker 5: when they go in slumps, they go in it together
- 16:46Speaker 5: and not just one person. So that that'll be my
- 16:50Speaker 5: message to them is like, hey, we don't really have
- 16:52Speaker 5: to be that much of a team.
- 16:53Speaker 11: We can you know, separate.
- 16:54Speaker 5: But you know, it's a game, and there's things to
- 16:57Speaker 5: be learned from from this past weekend. And I think
- 17:00Speaker 5: think the lesson to be learned is when we don't
- 17:02Speaker 5: follow the plan, when we don't you know, swing at strikes,
- 17:07Speaker 5: anybody can beat you. And we know this like in
- 17:09Speaker 5: our conference, anybody can beat anybody. And and now we're
- 17:13Speaker 5: hoping that this weekend that's what happens to Oklahoma. We
- 17:16Speaker 5: come out here and we beat them.
- 17:18Speaker 12: And so follow up on that for other questions, how
- 17:20Speaker 12: do you feel your hitters match up against Oklahoma's pitchers?
- 17:24Speaker 12: So what about that match up?
- 17:25Speaker 13: Then?
- 17:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they're a very different break profile. So
- 17:28Speaker 5: I mean, I think they're good, you know, I mean,
- 17:30Speaker 5: they're not the number one team for you know, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 5: for a reason, you know, but I do think they're
- 17:36Speaker 5: very different. They're different than South Carolina so, you know,
- 17:41Speaker 5: do I think that they match up well? I always
- 17:43Speaker 5: think we match up well, and we you know, stick
- 17:46Speaker 5: to our plan. I think we have a good plan.
- 17:47Speaker 5: I think, you know, Kacharger does a tremendous job of
- 17:51Speaker 5: you know, setting our hitters up for success. So it's
- 17:54Speaker 5: just going to be whether or not we can execute it.
- 17:56Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean I think they're very different, but
- 17:58Speaker 5: they're obviously really good. I mean, Gachino has plus plus change,
- 18:01Speaker 5: Lowry's been effective.
- 18:03Speaker 11: You know, Alissa Parker. They have a lot of.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Different looks I think would be what I think their
- 18:07Speaker 5: kryptonite is. And so our ability kind of like when
- 18:09Speaker 5: we face Kentucky and we talked about Ole miss and
- 18:15Speaker 5: even Georgia, the ability to make that change quickly in
- 18:19Speaker 5: those adjustments quickly.
- 18:20Speaker 11: I think it's going to be important for us this weekend.
- 18:23Speaker 14: At Tea and Peters have been developing the entire season.
- 18:27Speaker 13: Yep.
- 18:27Speaker 6: How are you preparing them to face the scatting one
- 18:29Speaker 6: up this weekend?
- 18:30Speaker 11: And are you leaning more towards or leaning towards Peters
- 18:34Speaker 11: lesson team involved or what's the.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Work this weekend?
- 18:36Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I think the important thing is is
- 18:38Speaker 5: you're you know, against.
- 18:40Speaker 11: I think what Oklahoma is really good at is their offense.
- 18:42Speaker 5: I mean it's the you know, their best defenses, their offense,
- 18:45Speaker 5: their best offenses, their offense, you know, And so I
- 18:48Speaker 5: think it's going to be important that we'd not approach
- 18:51Speaker 5: each hit or the same way over and over. I
- 18:53Speaker 5: think they make good adjustments they have, you know, obviously,
- 18:57Speaker 5: coach Gasso is a really really high respected coach, and
- 19:01Speaker 5: you know, they both do a great job of getting
- 19:04Speaker 5: their hitters prepared. And so I think that that'll be
- 19:07Speaker 5: my job. It'll be our chess match of you know,
- 19:09Speaker 5: being able to change speeds, not attack them the same
- 19:12Speaker 5: way over and over, and then not over exposing our
- 19:15Speaker 5: pictures for a long period of time. I think our
- 19:18Speaker 5: ability to change looks will also be important this this weekend.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I mean to just go back on the offense, new
- 19:25Speaker 3: pieces like in King Lorg and tell On Edwards, how
- 19:27Speaker 3: are they going to help kind of gel the offense
- 19:29Speaker 3: for this weekend?
- 19:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think they've been in this, you know,
- 19:32Speaker 5: and I think, you know, when you think about those two,
- 19:34Speaker 5: they've been to the World Series, they've played at a
- 19:36Speaker 5: really high level, and they've all had you know, off weekends,
- 19:39Speaker 5: and so I think they don't panic because they've been
- 19:42Speaker 5: through it, you know, whereas when you're younger and you're
- 19:45Speaker 5: going through this for the first time, you know, you're like,
- 19:47Speaker 5: is this a real thing?
- 19:48Speaker 11: And you know, you're just kind of questioning yourself.
- 19:51Speaker 5: And I think those two, especially, you know, have been there,
- 19:55Speaker 5: they've done that, They've played at a high level their
- 19:57Speaker 5: whole career, and so I think, you know, like work
- 19:59Speaker 5: was up coach Trger's office and.
- 20:01Speaker 11: Talking to him and back to her normal stuff.
- 20:03Speaker 5: So I think that consistency is that leadership is that
- 20:07Speaker 5: senior piece of it, and so yeah, I mean, we
- 20:13Speaker 5: got to make adjustments, but I also have faith that
- 20:15Speaker 5: we will make the adjustments.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yeah, she's asked about the hitting and sort of the
- 20:19Speaker 1: approach there was specifically with the runners left on base
- 20:22Speaker 1: this weekend.
- 20:22Speaker 8: You sort of mentioned it was when you went back, look,
- 20:24Speaker 8: was there anything that you can really pull back from.
- 20:27Speaker 15: From just not give those hits at clutch moments this weekend?
- 20:29Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you ever been a part of a
- 20:32Speaker 5: game or series where like nothing goes your way like
- 20:36Speaker 5: that was us this weekend and we didn't get one call.
- 20:40Speaker 11: It felt like, you know, not one overturn, like it.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Was just one of those weekends like KP had triples
- 20:45Speaker 5: twice that you know, weird things and what she was,
- 20:48Speaker 5: you know, called out, you know. And so I think
- 20:53Speaker 5: for me, the message really is to the team is
- 20:55Speaker 5: like that's postseason when you think about last year, like
- 20:59Speaker 5: it got really really hard, really fast, and we didn't
- 21:01Speaker 5: respond well.
- 21:03Speaker 11: And I felt like this weekend we got a little
- 21:05Speaker 11: taste of it.
- 21:05Speaker 5: And so I think it's like, you know, I'm I
- 21:09Speaker 5: believe in a lot of you know, I have a
- 21:10Speaker 5: lot of faith, and so I feel like it was
- 21:12Speaker 5: like kind of God's plan to kind of give us
- 21:14Speaker 5: a little like, hey, remember, like things can get hard
- 21:18Speaker 5: real quick, and.
- 21:19Speaker 11: It's how you respond.
- 21:20Speaker 5: And so I think my message to the team is
- 21:22Speaker 5: a little bit like, hey, our fight, Like even when
- 21:24Speaker 5: it gets hard, you.
- 21:24Speaker 11: Got to keep fighting.
- 21:25Speaker 5: You got to figure this out if you want to
- 21:27Speaker 5: keep playing, especially in this time of year. We got
- 21:32Speaker 5: to do some things differently. And so I think it's
- 21:34Speaker 5: a good reality check. I mean, not one that I've enjoyed,
- 21:37Speaker 5: but I do think it's a good reality check.
- 21:39Speaker 11: And again I'm happy to have it now versus in
- 21:42Speaker 11: a couple.
- 21:42Speaker 16: Of weeks a couple of really tough at addicts for
- 21:45Speaker 16: Grace obviously the first neigh Versussippi State, and then this
- 21:49Speaker 16: game three.
- 21:50Speaker 11: How is she responded?
- 21:51Speaker 4: I guess, And do you see situations going forward? You
- 21:55Speaker 4: still counter and high love situations.
- 21:56Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean I think, you know, Grace is a senior.
- 22:00Speaker 5: Today will be the first day that I get to
- 22:01Speaker 5: sit down and talk to her her bullpen.
- 22:04Speaker 11: I just think she needs to go out and throw
- 22:05Speaker 11: her pitches.
- 22:06Speaker 5: You know, she'll you know, get some live batters this
- 22:10Speaker 5: week and try to keep her fresh. But you know,
- 22:12Speaker 5: I think, you know, as we move forward and the
- 22:14Speaker 5: situations get more critical and more critical, I think, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 5: my job is to figure out, you know, what is
- 22:20Speaker 5: that best matchup, And maybe it is Grace, and maybe
- 22:23Speaker 5: it's somebody else, But I think my job is to
- 22:25Speaker 5: really get them all ready to go so that they
- 22:27Speaker 5: can come in.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Sure to be a.
- 22:28Speaker 17: Scary thing when you said we can all go to
- 22:30Speaker 17: a slump the same time, especially you know.
- 22:32Speaker 4: In Oklahoma SEC and the Originals.
- 22:35Speaker 18: But if there is one or two players you think
- 22:37Speaker 18: could be that sort of slump wriker, I guess you
- 22:39Speaker 18: need sort of a.
- 22:40Speaker 11: Vision that could be yeah. You know, it's funny.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I think at anytime, like once we get rolling, we
- 22:48Speaker 5: get rolling.
- 22:49Speaker 11: You know, KP.
- 22:53Speaker 5: She loves the spotlight, not on her, but I mean
- 22:56Speaker 5: like when the game's big, she loves it. So I
- 22:58Speaker 5: think KP, you know, we go, KP goes, and that's
- 23:01Speaker 5: a lot of pressure on her.
- 23:02Speaker 11: But she's also earned that pressure, you know.
- 23:05Speaker 5: So I think KP is somebody that I definitely look
- 23:07Speaker 5: at to be that voice in the locker room, be
- 23:11Speaker 5: that voice on the field, you know, Maya Perez, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 5: like you know, Work is she gonna protect her, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 5: those types of situations, and I think Work is ready.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Like I said, I just there's a little bit of
- 23:24Speaker 5: ease to me because we have work, we have talent.
- 23:28Speaker 11: They've been there, they've done it.
- 23:30Speaker 5: You know during their career at Okie State, they had
- 23:33Speaker 5: you know times late in their career or late in
- 23:35Speaker 5: the season I should say, in which you know, they
- 23:38Speaker 5: didn't play well as a team and they lost some
- 23:40Speaker 5: games and then they bounce back.
- 23:41Speaker 11: So they've gone through it.
- 23:42Speaker 5: You know, Maya has gone through it, KP has gone
- 23:45Speaker 5: through it, and so I think if we hadn't have
- 23:47Speaker 5: gone through that before, I would be a little bit
- 23:51Speaker 5: more concerned, but we have and you know, even lessantine
- 23:54Speaker 5: like last year she was here, and so I don't know,
- 23:57Speaker 5: I just I think that it's not necessarily that we
- 24:01Speaker 5: I kept saying, I said it, But we have to
- 24:03Speaker 5: get through a slump. We just have to go back
- 24:05Speaker 5: to what we were really good at and focus on
- 24:07Speaker 5: that instead of letting things kind of slide. And like,
- 24:12Speaker 5: look what happens when we let things slide, Like we
- 24:15Speaker 5: go to this direction, Like, let's refocus back into the
- 24:18Speaker 5: task at hand.
- 24:19Speaker 12: What about Oklahoma when you look at their numbers, say,
- 24:23Speaker 12: sometimes you might be better off and you fall behind two, one,
- 24:26Speaker 12: three out to walk the person, but yet they're more
- 24:29Speaker 12: likely to hit a to run homeward than any team
- 24:31Speaker 12: you're facing. As the pitching coach, how do you handle
- 24:35Speaker 12: that fine line? For for for this team?
- 24:38Speaker 11: Yeah, I think you have to pick and choose your battles.
- 24:40Speaker 5: I think, you know, do you want to walk you
- 24:44Speaker 5: know a batter X and who's behind her?
- 24:47Speaker 11: You know, is she going to do the damage or.
- 24:50Speaker 5: Are you You know, you got to play the odds
- 24:51Speaker 5: a little bit. So I do think it's going to
- 24:53Speaker 5: be a chess match. I do think that, you know,
- 24:56Speaker 5: at any point in time, really one through nine can
- 24:58Speaker 5: put the ball over the fence, and so I don't know,
- 25:02Speaker 5: I just I think it's a great opportunity for us
- 25:04Speaker 5: to figure out, you know, like at this time of year,
- 25:08Speaker 5: what else we could still work on. I think that's
- 25:10Speaker 5: kind of exciting, you know, like it's and at the
- 25:14Speaker 5: same time, they put their shoes on the same way
- 25:16Speaker 5: as we do, Like, yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 12: What about it is senior weekend. Kennedy Pole. You've talked
- 25:23Speaker 12: at last from her, but just what has she meant
- 25:27Speaker 12: that the program and her.
- 25:29Speaker 19: Three years here?
- 25:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you know, I don't know that I
- 25:32Speaker 5: can say enough about kpe.
- 25:33Speaker 11: KP has been wonderful.
- 25:35Speaker 5: I think this year especially, and I've kind of been
- 25:38Speaker 5: talking about it quite a bit this week so far,
- 25:39Speaker 5: of just her growth, like her ability to really lead
- 25:45Speaker 5: this team and lead it in a different way depending
- 25:49Speaker 5: on who she's talking to and who she's like, She's
- 25:51Speaker 5: figured out how to communicate with different types of people.
- 25:55Speaker 11: She has really challenged herself.
- 25:58Speaker 5: I think she's more connected to their teammates than she's
- 26:01Speaker 5: ever been. And those are things that I wouldn't have
- 26:03Speaker 5: said about KP when she first got here, and I
- 26:07Speaker 5: think it says a lot to her that, you know,
- 26:09Speaker 5: when her and I had our end of the year
- 26:11Speaker 5: talk last year, like she had some things that She's like,
- 26:14Speaker 5: I want to do this, I want to be remembered
- 26:17Speaker 5: as this type of a player, this type of a teammate.
- 26:19Speaker 11: And I think she's done that.
- 26:21Speaker 5: I think that she has left a mark on this program,
- 26:25Speaker 5: or she will leave a mark on this program that
- 26:27Speaker 5: she can be really proud of. And I think there's
- 26:30Speaker 5: been a lot of growth in her. You know, obviously
- 26:33Speaker 5: she's a really good soft out but player, but really
- 26:36Speaker 5: a lot of growth I think from her from a
- 26:38Speaker 5: personal standpoint.
- 26:39Speaker 11: That I'm really proud of her about.
- 26:41Speaker 5: And I think she did some things that were uncomfortable
- 26:44Speaker 5: for her this year that we really needed her to do.
- 26:47Speaker 12: I think we were missed. We didn't ask about, Well,
- 26:49Speaker 12: is this one of the most talent freshmen you've seen?
- 26:52Speaker 11: Yes? Yeah, I mean I mean impressive.
- 26:55Speaker 5: You know, you know, I get excited to see her
- 26:59Speaker 5: a Maya Perez to be on the field together, you
- 27:01Speaker 5: know what I mean. I think, you know, I think
- 27:03Speaker 5: my mind is just as impressive. You know, and I'm
- 27:07Speaker 5: biased one hundred percent, but like I think Mina's pretty good,
- 27:10Speaker 5: So I think it's gonna be you know, what a
- 27:14Speaker 5: great atmosphere for somebody that loves softball to be able
- 27:16Speaker 5: to come and watch really high level softball.
- 27:19Speaker 11: What you know Wells has done this year.
- 27:21Speaker 5: I think all over softball there's been some crazy You
- 27:23Speaker 5: have Issa Torres.
- 27:24Speaker 11: You have Woolery at UCLA.
- 27:26Speaker 5: I mean, you have some really special talents playing this game,
- 27:30Speaker 5: and we're talking about it, and I think at the
- 27:32Speaker 5: end of the day, I'm really happy that we're talking.
- 27:35Speaker 11: About softball, you know. But yeah, she's she's gonna be fun,
- 27:39Speaker 11: fun to pitch tim. Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 17: Going back to Kennedy, however, being made to the.
- 27:45Speaker 11: Huge as I say just about the Texas a andem
- 27:48Speaker 11: development here.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think, you know, again, like I
- 27:53Speaker 5: think kp A what an honor like to you have
- 27:56Speaker 5: somebody from our our program again get picked. You know
- 28:01Speaker 5: obviously last year left you got a golden ticket, just huge,
- 28:05Speaker 5: And you know, I think, you know, my bias is
- 28:08Speaker 5: like kp should have been in there the whole time.
- 28:10Speaker 5: You know, that kid's very versatile. She can hit, she
- 28:13Speaker 5: can play out field, she can play in field. But
- 28:16Speaker 5: at the same time, when they're making those draft picks.
- 28:19Speaker 5: It's a very tough, you know, time of the year
- 28:22Speaker 5: for them to kind of know what you know, each
- 28:25Speaker 5: organization is gonna need and those types of things. And
- 28:28Speaker 5: so what I'm really happy is for this opportunity because
- 28:31Speaker 5: I think KP will absolutely earn her way onto a
- 28:35Speaker 5: permanent roster. I think that she deserves it, you know,
- 28:39Speaker 5: And I think I don't know, I just I'm excited
- 28:42Speaker 5: for her that she can kind of continue and and
- 28:45Speaker 5: continue playing and just continue to keep our name in
- 28:49Speaker 5: that league. And I think, you know, with the possibility
- 28:52Speaker 5: of maybe even her coming back and playing in a
- 28:54Speaker 5: championship series here at David Diamond.
- 28:56Speaker 11: So what a cool moment that would be.
- 28:59Speaker 3: All Right, that's Trisha Ford, the Aggie Softball coach, getting
- 29:04Speaker 3: you ready for A and M and Oklahoma Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 29:08Speaker 3: huge series.
- 29:08Speaker 4: As you get ready for.
- 29:10Speaker 3: What's coming up, Let's try We're gonna try to get
- 29:13Speaker 3: Steve Dinton coming up in the bottom of here in
- 29:15Speaker 3: a second. But first we're gonna have Chip come in
- 29:17Speaker 3: and tell you about the great folks over at Galleria
- 29:19Speaker 3: Day SPA.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I want to remind you that gallery of Spa Salon
- 29:22Speaker 1: boutique a couple of locations. The boutique is at Century
- 29:27Speaker 1: Square and then the one on Rock Prairie across from
- 29:30Speaker 1: Scott and White. You know it's been there a while.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Where you go, they've got a pool, jacuzzi, Manny's and petties,
- 29:38Speaker 1: massages the whole nine yards. And at Gallery of Spa
- 29:41Speaker 1: Salon they have a full hair salon for women, a
- 29:46Speaker 1: barber shop for men, all the spa services, and that
- 29:51Speaker 1: boutique with clothing and home decorps. I've got jewelry. Go
- 29:57Speaker 1: seek all of the folks at that one, and guy,
- 30:00Speaker 1: get your significant other certificate she can pamper herself. I
- 30:06Speaker 1: think you'll like that. Go online at galleriasposalon dot com.

- 31:42Speaker 21: If you miss Tech SAgs Live, you miss Live Good
- 31:45Speaker 21: Buddy Luke Evangelists.
- 31:46Speaker 14: Are they better talent wise right now than they were
- 31:49Speaker 14: a year.
- 31:49Speaker 16: Of Yes, one hundred percent they have and you saw.
- 31:53Speaker 16: That's not to discredit the talent that was on this
- 31:55Speaker 16: team last year, because a lot of those guys were
- 31:57Speaker 16: very talented and they were able to buy in Bucky's system.
- 32:01Speaker 16: But the raw, pure talent that they have, I mean,
- 32:04Speaker 16: they didn't have a single player outside of Rashaun ag
- 32:07Speaker 16: averaged more than eleven points per game.
- 32:09Speaker 8: And PJ.
- 32:10Speaker 16: Haggerty is gonna probably score combine what A and M's
- 32:14Speaker 16: top two leading scorers did last year.
- 32:16Speaker 4: So they have a.
- 32:17Speaker 16: Legitimate All American potential player in PJ Haggerty. They have
- 32:22Speaker 16: all SEC talent behind him. Like if it was PJ
- 32:24Speaker 16: Haggerty in the Power of Friendship, I'd be questioning it.
- 32:28Speaker 16: But if they get Bryson Warren cleared and Mackenzie Imbaco
- 32:30Speaker 16: is the player that I saw last summer, They're gonna
- 32:33Speaker 16: have potentially three first, second, and third team All SEC nominees.
- 32:37Speaker 21: Texas Live brought to you by David Gardner's Jewelers hang
- 32:40Speaker 21: out weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone.
- 32:52Speaker 15: Shop John Willis, it's around and is on real all.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Right, welcome back to an all Willie Wednesday. Unfortunately we
- 32:59Speaker 3: were able to get coaching Dinton on the line. Next Wednesday,
- 33:04Speaker 3: Chip will get coach again and we'll be preparing for
- 33:08Speaker 3: the next round of the playoffs as hopefully the Aggies
- 33:14Speaker 3: will be able to advance. The Aggie's coming up this weekend.
- 33:20Speaker 3: They play against Wagner in the first round. That's going
- 33:25Speaker 3: to be at one o'clock on Friday, and then the
- 33:28Speaker 3: Penquakers and Stanford will play after that, I'm sorry, before
- 33:35Speaker 3: that at ten am, and then the winners will play
- 33:39Speaker 3: at four pm on Sunday. Women's tennis is playing this
- 33:41Speaker 3: weekend as well, and you have a track meet, and
- 33:46Speaker 3: you have softball, and you have baseball and you have
- 33:49Speaker 3: banana ball.
- 33:50Speaker 4: All that is going on.
- 33:52Speaker 3: So it is a huge week and it's going to
- 33:55Speaker 3: be very very exciting for the sports fan here in
- 33:59Speaker 3: brian Colecht to see the the the good.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Sports that are coming this weekend.
- 34:05Speaker 3: So we're gonna uh the Aggies last night we're able
- 34:10Speaker 3: to rally. They took a three to nothing lead on
- 34:15Speaker 3: Tarleton State, and the fifth and the fourth inning the
- 34:20Speaker 3: Texans scored five, took a five or three lead. The
- 34:24Speaker 3: Aggies rallied in the fifth inning to tie it to
- 34:28Speaker 3: Tarlton went back ahead seven to five in the sixth inning,
- 34:33Speaker 3: and then the Aggies rallied again in the bottom of
- 34:38Speaker 3: the sixth inning, so get back inning and the Aggies
- 34:42Speaker 3: are able to do that.
- 34:44Speaker 4: To tie the game at seven.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Then you get to the eighth inning and the Aggies
- 34:49Speaker 3: pushed to across again. So they had a stat on
- 34:52Speaker 3: TV last night that while I was doing the game,
- 34:55Speaker 3: I took a snapshot of it because of the success
- 35:00Speaker 3: that Charlton State, who has went over Texas this year,
- 35:04Speaker 3: also has a win over over the Baylor twice. So
- 35:12Speaker 3: offensively been very good and they had three pitchers with
- 35:16Speaker 3: two pictures, was five saves in their bullpen, so they
- 35:20Speaker 3: had some confidence. Charlton was twenty five and three when
- 35:24Speaker 3: scoring five or more runs. Texas A and M before
- 35:28Speaker 3: last night was six and eight when the opponent scored
- 35:31Speaker 3: six runs. So you can see that even though the
- 35:34Speaker 3: Aggie offense has continued to really push everything as far
- 35:39Speaker 3: as how well they've played. Still you have a team
- 35:45Speaker 3: in Tarleton that thinks they're going to rally back. Well,
- 35:48Speaker 3: the two homers by Caden Serell, which went four hundred
- 35:52Speaker 3: and sixty feet and I'll tell you why it was
- 35:56Speaker 3: told to us at forty five. And then bar Harrison
- 36:02Speaker 3: hit a home run to straightaway center field. The TrackMan
- 36:05Speaker 3: had at three hundred and ninety feet. Well, it's four
- 36:07Speaker 3: hundred feet to center field. So TrackMan was off by
- 36:11Speaker 3: about ten feet last night. So Sorell over the railroad
- 36:16Speaker 3: tracks and Wright and then you get Bear Harrison straightaway
- 36:21Speaker 3: center field. Well, the Aggies did it a little bit
- 36:24Speaker 3: different way. In the eighth inning, Sawyer far scored on
- 36:27Speaker 3: a wild pitch Nico Partida single through the right side
- 36:32Speaker 3: that scored Gavin Grohovic nine to seven.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Was how the Aggies would hold on.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It made a winner out of Ethan Darten, his fourth
- 36:42Speaker 3: victory of the year, and then Clayton fresh Corn gets
- 36:46Speaker 3: his tenth save. So other than Grant Cunningham, we went two.
- 36:50Speaker 4: And two thirds. Give it four. His four runs all
- 36:52Speaker 4: four earned.
- 36:53Speaker 3: The reason why three walks and he hadn't done that
- 36:56Speaker 3: this year. But let's listen to what Michael Early had
- 36:59Speaker 3: to say after the He's nine to seven win hard
- 37:02Speaker 3: Fop win last night over Charleton say about your.
- 37:05Speaker 22: Club to come back melt once but twice and still
- 37:08Speaker 22: find a way to win a big meat game.
- 37:09Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean we didn't. We didn't play very clean baseball,
- 37:13Speaker 15: but played tough, right, played tough. How good at basketball?
- 37:16Speaker 4: We needed to.
- 37:16Speaker 24: Got it down when we needed to. We kind of
- 37:18Speaker 24: put ourselves in that situation. But yeah, I mean very
- 37:21Speaker 24: resilient group. Obviously they've been all year, so I wasn't
- 37:23Speaker 24: surprised at all.
- 37:24Speaker 22: When it comes to your pitching. What were you hoping
- 37:26Speaker 22: to see tonight? And ow did the results stack up
- 37:29Speaker 22: to that experience?
- 37:31Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 37:31Speaker 15: I mean Vargas pitched good.
- 37:32Speaker 24: I mean the weather's the weather, like those one balls
- 37:35Speaker 24: hit hard that left to the one he hit he
- 37:37Speaker 24: hit I think like ninety five miles an hour, like
- 37:39Speaker 24: it wasn't pitches a little up, but that's a generally
- 37:42Speaker 24: have fly ball.
- 37:42Speaker 15: But win blue for us too.
- 37:44Speaker 24: So because that's not an excuse I thought he was.
- 37:46Speaker 24: I thought he did a fine job. Like we were
- 37:48Speaker 24: trying to get you in that forty range. Who could
- 37:51Speaker 24: have got him through four. That would have been great.
- 37:52Speaker 24: I mean, Grant came in with some traffic. It was
- 37:54Speaker 24: a little shaky at first, but then he got it
- 37:58Speaker 24: together and kept us in the game.
- 37:59Speaker 15: Darden kept us in the game, and then you know,
- 38:02Speaker 15: Fresh came in and was able to shut the door.
- 38:04Speaker 24: So I thought, I thought they did a fine job.
- 38:06Speaker 24: I thought they should a ton of resilience and kept
- 38:09Speaker 24: us in the game.
- 38:09Speaker 15: Let our offense work a.
- 38:11Speaker 13: Little bit of a different look of the lineup tonight.
- 38:13Speaker 13: Just what'd you see from Wesley and Sawyer in particular.
- 38:16Speaker 4: They were able to show you up.
- 38:17Speaker 15: Yeah, I thought, you know, Wes what's done a good job.
- 38:19Speaker 24: He hasn't had game at bats, but you know he's
- 38:21Speaker 24: been getting Like last Wednesday, he got about twelve trying
- 38:23Speaker 24: to keep his eyes, you know, slowed down on the machines,
- 38:26Speaker 24: and I thought he competed a nice job so he
- 38:27Speaker 24: could get it. And Sawyer, I mean, great job by
- 38:30Speaker 24: him coming in. I mean that's just that's just dirty work.
- 38:32Speaker 24: Plays like not getting out of the way of it
- 38:34Speaker 24: hit by a bitch, you know, getting the third on that,
- 38:37Speaker 24: making great plays on defense. That's why he got the
- 38:40Speaker 24: lineup card tonight.
- 38:40Speaker 15: Man, you never know, and you know what's gonna be
- 38:42Speaker 15: called hell of a job by Sawyer.
- 38:44Speaker 24: I'm super proud of it for for stand ready because
- 38:46Speaker 24: that's not easy to do, but day in and day out,
- 38:50Speaker 24: he does it.
- 38:51Speaker 15: He got a chance, and you know, I thought he
- 38:53Speaker 15: want us to baseball game.
- 38:54Speaker 17: You know, what's to say about your club? Like you
- 38:56Speaker 17: see you see teams around the country drop these midwek games.
- 38:59Speaker 17: But you guys have had so much success in the
- 39:00Speaker 17: midweek games. What have you seen from the club that
- 39:03Speaker 17: you all have been able to win so well on Tuesdays.
- 39:05Speaker 15: Yeah, they're tough, right, I mean they're tough. That's a
- 39:07Speaker 15: good team, man, It's a really good team.
- 39:09Speaker 25: Uh.
- 39:09Speaker 15: You know, I just we we played not tonight. We
- 39:12Speaker 15: didn't play clean.
- 39:13Speaker 24: A couple couple of players at Warren Airs that were
- 39:15Speaker 24: mistakes that led to runs. But just resilia and you know,
- 39:19Speaker 24: you gotta have some offense on Tuesdays and we had
- 39:21Speaker 24: that tonight again.
- 39:22Speaker 15: Our pitchers are just they've done a good.
- 39:24Speaker 24: Job of keep us in the game no matter what
- 39:26Speaker 24: happens in the course of the game. When they score,
- 39:28Speaker 24: the moment when you need to stop him, they stopped.
- 39:30Speaker 15: Him and they did a good job.
- 39:31Speaker 22: You know, what does it say about Sorell for a
- 39:34Speaker 22: tough weekend to come out and have a night like
- 39:36Speaker 22: tonight and then also can something like tonight to home runs.
- 39:39Speaker 13: You'll spur him on down the stretch.
- 39:42Speaker 24: Yeah, he's got a he's got a pretty short memory,
- 39:43Speaker 24: and he never he never loses confidence in himself.
- 39:46Speaker 15: So I was not not shocked at all. It's nice
- 39:48Speaker 15: to know. It's nice to see him do that.
- 39:50Speaker 24: You know, he had that that guy through a really
- 39:52Speaker 24: good pitch and that that three too like a pitch.
- 39:55Speaker 15: I don't know if he'd seen it that at that
- 39:56Speaker 15: alley through it, so I think just kind of bumping him.
- 39:59Speaker 24: But that was a really good at that, you know,
- 40:00Speaker 24: until the end, and I just thought he had had
- 40:02Speaker 24: some goodins.
- 40:02Speaker 15: I'm not surprised, we you know, just you're looking at video.
- 40:05Speaker 24: Obviously when the guy's struggling. There wasn't like a mechanical
- 40:09Speaker 24: thing that jumped out.
- 40:09Speaker 15: It was just like a mental thing. He was trying
- 40:11Speaker 15: to just go do too much. And it comes with
- 40:13Speaker 15: the territory with him a little bit, right.
- 40:15Speaker 24: He's a he's cerebral, so he wants to and he's
- 40:17Speaker 24: competing and sometimes you can overcompete.
- 40:19Speaker 15: But I thought he did a.
- 40:21Speaker 24: Good job tonight, honed it in, got to some counts,
- 40:23Speaker 24: worked to him, and yeah, I mean, I'm not surprised at.
- 40:26Speaker 22: All considering this the second to last mid week of
- 40:29Speaker 22: the year and opportunities are getting cleaned down the stretch.
- 40:32Speaker 22: How much added emphasis or importance was placed on this
- 40:36Speaker 22: ball game aside from the result in the previous mid weeks.
- 40:40Speaker 15: They're all important to me and all important to our team.
- 40:42Speaker 15: So we need to win. That's a that's a good team,
- 40:45Speaker 15: you know, they got to. That's that team very well
- 40:47Speaker 15: end up in a regional They probably will. They're really
- 40:50Speaker 15: really good.
- 40:50Speaker 24: So we want to play good baseball, and we're always
- 40:53Speaker 24: gonna have to be resilient and tough. We didn't play
- 40:55Speaker 24: great baseball fine offensively, it's resilient, tough.
- 40:59Speaker 15: So this is as always to win period.
- 41:02Speaker 24: Yeah, you can't set a standard not winning or like
- 41:07Speaker 24: making it seem like it's not important.
- 41:09Speaker 11: Right.
- 41:09Speaker 24: If you're consisting, you're consistent, and that's what we want
- 41:11Speaker 24: to be on a day to day basis, no matter
- 41:13Speaker 24: which was Friday or Tuesday.
- 41:14Speaker 3: The need to go there, all right, that's Michael Early.
- 41:17Speaker 3: When we come back after this break, we are going
- 41:19Speaker 3: to hear from Darden and Surrell. Two home runs by
- 41:24Speaker 3: Sorel last night after our one for fourteen weekend at Florida,
- 41:28Speaker 3: and that hit coming in his last at bat of
- 41:31Speaker 3: the weekend, so he was ready to go. And then
- 41:35Speaker 3: take a look at a couple of things with the
- 41:37Speaker 3: NCAA tournament and where A and M stacks up right
- 41:40Speaker 3: now when we come back.
- 41:43Speaker 4: But we're going to get to.
- 41:44Speaker 3: The Astros Report that's brought to you by Oscar and

- 43:04Speaker 26: The Houston Astros dropped a five to three contest in
- 43:07Speaker 26: Baltimore to the Orioles in the opening game with three
- 43:09Speaker 26: game series at Camden Yards. Kaiwai Tang started on the
- 43:12Speaker 26: mound for the Astros. Baltimore played two runs than the
- 43:14Speaker 26: first to go up to nothing. Score remained to nothing
- 43:17Speaker 26: Orioles until the top of the fifth Bryce Matthews at
- 43:19Speaker 26: the plate.
- 43:20Speaker 23: And Matthews lines this one pretty deep to right center field,
- 43:23Speaker 23: going back as Bieber's looking up.
- 43:25Speaker 4: See you later.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Bryce Matthews goes the opposite way for his second home
- 43:31Speaker 3: run of the season.
- 43:32Speaker 26: That cut the lead in half, making it to one.
- 43:34Speaker 26: But Baltimore stretched the lead in the home half of
- 43:36Speaker 26: the fifth, scoring two more runs filed by a running
- 43:38Speaker 26: the seventh to go up five to one. Astros came
- 43:40Speaker 26: back with two in the eighth, but that is as
- 43:42Speaker 26: close as Houston would get. Five to three final score.
- 43:45Speaker 26: Another loss for the Astros, who've had a forgettable month
- 43:47Speaker 26: of April, now ten games below the five hundred mark
- 43:50Speaker 26: this month. Same two teams back at it tonight in

- 45:53Speaker 3: singing Broke Back Mountain no more.
- 45:55Speaker 4: But that's okay.
- 45:56Speaker 3: What we do have is Aggie's winner from last night
- 46:00Speaker 3: Ethan Darden, who came out in relief in a really
- 46:04Speaker 3: nice outing and he came into some important spots there
- 46:09Speaker 3: against Florida as well.
- 46:10Speaker 4: But here's last night's winner for the Aggies, Ethan Darden.
- 46:14Speaker 22: Ethan, what's the mentality when you come in that the
- 46:17Speaker 22: sixth sitting and there's some traffic and you're trying to
- 46:19Speaker 22: already play from behind?
- 46:21Speaker 10: Uh?
- 46:21Speaker 27: Yeah, it's a mindset thing, just going in there and
- 46:24Speaker 27: attacking his zone, nameless faces, opponent.
- 46:27Speaker 13: Just go out there and compete. You never know what
- 46:29Speaker 13: can happen.
- 46:30Speaker 27: If you throw strikes, if you work around the hitter,
- 46:32Speaker 27: you're probably gonna walk guys, and you're probably gonna get fooled.
- 46:35Speaker 27: So the best thing to do is just go in
- 46:37Speaker 27: that attack mindset and just pound the zone.
- 46:39Speaker 22: What allows you to have success tonight and really study
- 46:42Speaker 22: the ship for this pitching stuff, just knowing that the
- 46:44Speaker 22: defense behind me, they're gonna make plays, they're gonna put
- 46:47Speaker 22: their heart on the line.
- 46:48Speaker 27: And when you're on that mountain, that's there's no worries
- 46:51Speaker 27: in the world besides just throwing strikes because you know
- 46:53Speaker 27: the guys behind you are gonna put it.
- 46:54Speaker 13: They're all into it and show effort.
- 46:57Speaker 17: What's kind of the message going out there on that
- 46:58Speaker 17: seventh and just how big was the show downating network.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Out of that hour?
- 47:02Speaker 27: H Yeah, So our goal is to put zeros on
- 47:04Speaker 27: the board and have shut down ending, so nothing really
- 47:07Speaker 27: changes whether we're up by ten or down by ten.
- 47:11Speaker 27: You still got to go out there and put a
- 47:12Speaker 27: zero up for your team to have a chance to
- 47:14Speaker 27: come back or maintain the league.
- 47:16Speaker 22: Considering there's not too many midweek opportunities, let to go around.
- 47:20Speaker 22: How much, if any added important emphasis was placed on tonight's.
- 47:24Speaker 13: Ball game from you and your fellow up pitchers.
- 47:26Speaker 22: Is fuld postseason drive around the court.
- 47:28Speaker 27: Every game is the same, Every game is the same,
- 47:31Speaker 27: Every game counts for the same. We need to win
- 47:34Speaker 27: the mid weeks. Good teams win mid weeks. Good teams
- 47:37Speaker 27: win two out of three. So that's just what our
- 47:39Speaker 27: standard is. And we're still trying to hold that. Yeah,
- 47:43Speaker 27: give everybody our best ball game, because if we play
- 47:46Speaker 27: to our standard, no one can beat us.
- 47:47Speaker 11: What picture mix is working for you today?
- 47:50Speaker 27: I mainly just throw a sinkers and sliders, So I
- 47:53Speaker 27: through one change up today, So.
- 47:55Speaker 13: Yeah, just those two pitches pretty much.
- 47:57Speaker 17: You mentioned the need to win on Tuesdays. Why has
- 47:59Speaker 17: this club been so good and taking care.
- 48:01Speaker 13: Of business in the mid week games this season?
- 48:03Speaker 27: I feel like we're putting a lot of young guys
- 48:05Speaker 27: on the mountain. I feel like it's it's very inspirational
- 48:07Speaker 27: to our order guys just to see those younger guys
- 48:09Speaker 27: get that work in and all the time they put
- 48:11Speaker 27: in in the fall and.
- 48:13Speaker 13: In the summer, to go out there and just show
- 48:15Speaker 13: the world with a guy, I mean, it's it's awesome.
- 48:17Speaker 13: And everybody's behind them Tinto's so yeah, it's fun, fun,
- 48:21Speaker 13: fun to watch.
- 48:22Speaker 22: What's it like pitching with this offense behind you?
- 48:25Speaker 13: Oh it's great.
- 48:25Speaker 27: You know they're gonna put up runs, you know they're
- 48:27Speaker 27: gonna make plays behind you, So just attack his own
- 48:30Speaker 27: and good things were happening.
- 48:31Speaker 3: So yeah, well, I think that you know, getting the
- 48:38Speaker 3: pitching staff to to you know, come out and compete
- 48:40Speaker 3: the way they did last night, especially after being down
- 48:43Speaker 3: and then the Darden pitching the way he did and
- 48:46Speaker 3: then giving the ball to fresh Corn, who you know,
- 48:49Speaker 3: kind of jokingly during the game we said, the one
- 48:51Speaker 3: guy who was not available would have been fresh Corn,
- 48:54Speaker 3: and then he comes out and gets his tense saves.
- 48:55Speaker 3: But the guy who you knew was gonna be available
- 48:58Speaker 3: and you knew was us prime for a huge bounce back?
- 49:02Speaker 3: Was Caden surreal the two home runs to pay Saggy?
- 49:06Speaker 3: Sure's what Cayden said after last night's nine seven win.
- 49:10Speaker 22: Kayden, how does today feel considering the last few outings
- 49:14Speaker 22: you've had?
- 49:15Speaker 13: It definitely felt good.
- 49:16Speaker 25: I mean, you know, didn't get the AB's that I
- 49:19Speaker 25: really wanted in Florida, you know, kind of stayed felt
- 49:22Speaker 25: my approach a little bit, and then talked to earlier
- 49:25Speaker 25: a little bit, worked on some things. Felt great to day.
- 49:28Speaker 25: We sing both pretty good.
- 49:29Speaker 22: So when things aren't going your way, you're not happy
- 49:32Speaker 22: with the quality of that batch you're having. Me, how
- 49:33Speaker 22: do you stay locked in? How do you work on that?
- 49:35Speaker 13: What is the work outside of games.
- 49:38Speaker 25: Look like to allow you to come back and have
- 49:39Speaker 25: a night with Yeah, I try not to stress too much.
- 49:43Speaker 13: You know, baseball is a very tough sport. It's a
- 49:45Speaker 13: mental sports.
- 49:47Speaker 25: As soon as you get down on yourself for having
- 49:48Speaker 25: one bad weekend, and you know, that's how you just
- 49:51Speaker 25: keep on going downhill.
- 49:53Speaker 13: So not letting them get to you too much.
- 49:55Speaker 25: Just knowing it's baseball, and you know, showing up doing
- 49:57Speaker 25: your routine every day, and you know, just trying to
- 49:59Speaker 25: get better time particular.
- 50:01Speaker 13: Just what you see from your offense.
- 50:02Speaker 17: I'll able to battle back from multiple deficits throughout the night.
- 50:05Speaker 13: Yeah, we had some pretty good AB's all around.
- 50:08Speaker 25: You know, I didn't get the job done with bases
- 50:10Speaker 25: loaded one out, you know, and then Nico comes up
- 50:13Speaker 25: does a job, and that's that's what it's all about,
- 50:15Speaker 25: you know. Having we're going to s ABS one through nine.
- 50:17Speaker 25: You know, if I don't get the job done or
- 50:19Speaker 25: somebody else doesn't get the job done, then the guy
- 50:20Speaker 25: behind's gonna get it done.
- 50:22Speaker 17: You see teams across the country lose midweek games quite often.
- 50:25Speaker 17: Just what is it about this team though, that you
- 50:27Speaker 17: guys have been able to have the success you've had
- 50:29Speaker 17: in the Tuesday games throughout the entire season.
- 50:31Speaker 25: Yeah, I think just not letting our our foot off
- 50:34Speaker 25: the gas. You know, obviously like these Tuesday games, they're
- 50:37Speaker 25: not like SEC skill level, but you know, none of
- 50:42Speaker 25: that matters. We still got to show up. We got
- 50:44Speaker 25: to do our thing. We're trying to win ball games.
- 50:46Speaker 25: That's what we show up with do every single day
- 50:48Speaker 25: is just.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Trying to win a game, no matter who.
- 50:50Speaker 13: The opponent is.
- 50:51Speaker 25: So showing up, getting our job done and you know,
- 50:55Speaker 25: having good AB's going through nine and pitching good.
- 50:57Speaker 22: What's the furthest you've ever hit a ball?
- 50:59Speaker 11: If this ballpark and just.
- 51:01Speaker 22: Does something we can't do it, tell us the feeling
- 51:03Speaker 22: of hitting a ball four hundred and forty six feet the.
- 51:07Speaker 13: Furthest I've hit one?
- 51:08Speaker 25: Here? Are we talking about just games or at a
- 51:13Speaker 25: point at any point? I want to say in my
- 51:16Speaker 25: freshman year, I hit one four seventy straight down the
- 51:19Speaker 25: line and live abs. That's part of like the Wednesday
- 51:23Speaker 25: Warriors who you know didn't get an ABS during the weekend.
- 51:27Speaker 25: And then I was, you know, hitting on Wednesday and
- 51:30Speaker 25: hit one four seventy, So that's part of this one
- 51:32Speaker 25: I've gotten.
- 51:33Speaker 22: And then today what you get on that bitch with
- 51:35Speaker 22: forty six feet and how does that feel coming.
- 51:38Speaker 23: Off the back.
- 51:38Speaker 13: Yeah, it feels good.
- 51:39Speaker 25: I mean, got a heater in ninety five miles an
- 51:42Speaker 25: hour was sitting on a heater something middle of down
- 51:45Speaker 25: and do a middle end, had a good swing on it.
- 51:51Speaker 25: Probably should have ran out the box a little faster
- 51:53Speaker 25: than I did, but you know, it felt really good
- 51:57Speaker 25: coming off the bat, especially, you know, not having a
- 52:00Speaker 25: good weekend.
- 52:02Speaker 4: Go get all right, that's Cain Serell.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I don't know if you heard the postgame show after
- 52:07Speaker 3: the game last night, but God bless Hayden shot trying
- 52:13Speaker 3: to get cad and Serell to take his name out
- 52:16Speaker 3: of the draft and come back and not be a
- 52:19Speaker 3: first round draft pick.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Wait to go, Hayden.
- 52:22Speaker 3: I mean, that's taking one for the team right there.
- 52:26Speaker 3: The Aggies are up to number four in the RPI.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Right up until the time Texas rallied again with three
- 52:34Speaker 3: runs in the bottom of the ninth ending to beat
- 52:36Speaker 3: Sam Houston State. It looked like A and M might
- 52:38Speaker 3: move in front of the Longhorns and jump up to
- 52:41Speaker 3: number three in the RPI. But A and M is
- 52:43Speaker 3: in the top four. La Georgia Tech, Texas, Texas A
- 52:48Speaker 3: and M, then Auburn A and M's opponent this weekend Alabama,
- 52:52Speaker 3: North Carolina and Oregon State. Looking at Baseball America's field
- 52:57Speaker 3: of sixty four that they put out yesterday, number one
- 53:00Speaker 3: UCLA across from number sixteen Florida State, the Atlanta Georgia
- 53:06Speaker 3: Regional Georgia Tech at two, fifteen seed is Alabama the Longhorns.
- 53:12Speaker 3: The three matched up with Southern miss North Carolina four
- 53:17Speaker 3: matched up with Ole miss Auburn number five, matched up
- 53:21Speaker 3: with Nebraska at twelve, Texas A and M at six
- 53:26Speaker 3: matched up with Mississippi State at eleven. Georgia is seven,
- 53:31Speaker 3: matched up with Oregon State, which is ten, and Coastal
- 53:35Speaker 3: Carolina at eight matched up with Kansas, the big surprise
- 53:39Speaker 3: from the Big twelve this year at nine.
- 53:42Speaker 4: I don't know how Georgia, who.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Is leading the SEC A and M, who is second
- 53:48Speaker 3: the SEC, treil Auburn and Texas in their projections.
- 53:54Speaker 4: I do know how, but I don't know how.
- 53:56Speaker 3: But huge this weekend with Texas A taking on Auburn,
- 54:02Speaker 3: who's right there in the mix in the middle of
- 54:04Speaker 3: the top eight national seeds both those teams, and then
- 54:07Speaker 3: Texas taking on Mississippi State, who, as I said, is
- 54:12Speaker 3: rated as the eleventh seat. A lot of big important
- 54:15Speaker 3: baseball still to come here down the stretch for Texas
- 54:20Speaker 3: A and M. So this is a big weekend weather.
- 54:23Speaker 3: It's going to make some things uncomfortable at times. The
- 54:27Speaker 3: times are going to change around. Please pay attention. If
- 54:29Speaker 3: you have tickets, go watch it. I understand what is
- 54:33Speaker 3: happening in Kyle Field. Okay, I'm not naive to that.
- 54:37Speaker 3: You paid some pretty good money. If for summer reason,
- 54:40Speaker 3: A and in baseball is going on during a exhibition
- 54:43Speaker 3: for the Bananas, and you're a local, you need to
- 54:46Speaker 3: be at the Aggie game. You don't need to be
- 54:48Speaker 3: watching the Bananas. That's for funsies. This weekend against Auburn
- 54:54Speaker 3: is for real, and they need you in the stands.
- 54:56Speaker 3: Auburn is not seen in offense like A and M.
- 54:59Speaker 3: A handled pretty good pitching this last weekend. Florida had
- 55:03Speaker 3: given up twenty four home runs on the season before
- 55:06Speaker 3: hanging him hit five this weekend. And that's without Kin'sryl
- 55:10Speaker 3: hitting any at all. So be ready, get out there,
- 55:15Speaker 3: yell for your Aggies this weekend. When we come back,
- 55:18Speaker 3: we will get you ready for the second. How we're
- 55:20Speaker 3: going to talk to Tom Turbyville coming up a little
- 55:23Speaker 3: bit after five o'clock. But first let's hear Chip Howard
