- 1:27Speaker 1: with these Uh. These men are doing uh post career,
- 1:30Speaker 1: their transition and their second act really got some great stuff.
- 1:33Speaker 1: So you you guys, make sure you guys tune in.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You know what, this is something off the cup, But
- 1:37Speaker 1: this is what I've been noticing. I've been here for
- 1:39Speaker 1: two days now, and I'm all about you know what
- 1:43Speaker 1: is my own personal notes and what I've seen and
- 1:46Speaker 1: acknowledged from my first experience on radio row. For me,
- 1:50Speaker 1: it's all about the entourage. And you know what that
- 1:53Speaker 1: is the entourage of who's coming with the superstars and
- 1:56Speaker 1: who's doing the radio real clicks. You freaked out or not?
- 1:58Speaker 1: I shouldn't say freaked out? What what entourage was the
- 2:01Speaker 1: biggest for you? Yeah, because it's all about numbers. For me,
- 2:03Speaker 1: I don't care if you're holding the phone. It's all right.
- 2:06Speaker 1: The biggest entourage. Let me just answer the question. The
- 2:08Speaker 1: biggest entourage from me it's between Dion Sanders. He was deep.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Dion was deep custom deep. The next one Shannon sharp deep.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I mean, and I get it. Shannon's the man, He's
- 2:21Speaker 1: doing great thing. How many people deep would Shannon was
- 2:24Speaker 1: probably seven or eight deep, Keon was probably eight to nine.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Stephen A. Smith probably had twelve. Look at look at
- 2:32Speaker 1: pretty he's walking by right now to the right. He's
- 2:34Speaker 1: got a little entourage, I mean one to three full five, No,
- 2:39Speaker 1: it's just three people everything. I'm telling you. Look, it's amazing.
- 2:42Speaker 1: The the entourage you pick up when you win some
- 2:44Speaker 1: games and you get her elbow and the you can't
- 2:46Speaker 1: throw the ball no more. It's just crazy. But everybody
- 2:49Speaker 1: wants a piece of Now it's good. Do it's good.
- 2:52Speaker 1: The last person Joe Montana. Joe Montana came in here
- 2:56Speaker 1: deep too the other day. Very exciting. I mean, I'm
- 3:00Speaker 1: biggest Joe Montana fan that you probably could be. And uh,
- 3:03Speaker 1: it was just all out of respect. I'm just admiring
- 3:06Speaker 1: everybody's entourage. That's what has been big for me. Also, Peanut,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you tell me the one thing that's bothered you. I
- 3:12Speaker 1: hope you say the right answer here. Can you talk
- 3:14Speaker 1: about just everybody following you around, walking around with cameras. Now,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I don't I don't like it. I don't like people
- 3:20Speaker 1: walking in front of me trying to film me, uh
- 3:22Speaker 1: and then putting it on social media, Like I think
- 3:24Speaker 1: that's I think that's weird. I'm not I'm not a
- 3:27Speaker 1: fan of that. That's probably the one thing that bothered me. Like,
- 3:29Speaker 1: I think we're so in tune with social media and
- 3:32Speaker 1: you gotta film every little thing. It seems it seems
- 3:35Speaker 1: fake at times. Rather just pick up my phone, I
- 3:37Speaker 1: filmed something like it. Just a lot of the guys
- 3:40Speaker 1: that what you see, what we've what I've noticed, guys
- 3:43Speaker 1: were just walking and then they got a guy with
- 3:44Speaker 1: a camera in front of them and they're just walking
- 3:47Speaker 1: back or filming themselves. Like it just seems a little
- 3:50Speaker 1: it just seems a little weird. That's just me. You
- 3:53Speaker 1: did the Entourage. Mine was like the camera walking like
- 3:56Speaker 1: it just didn't really I wasn't really doing it for me.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I wasn't feeling that they didn't get it. I didn't
- 4:01Speaker 1: get it either. I don't understand. And everybody's got one now,
- 4:03Speaker 1: so that's the other thing except us too, maybe because
- 4:06Speaker 1: we're old and we just like, I don't care, I
- 4:08Speaker 1: get it. I yeah, I'll just continue to do the
- 4:12Speaker 1: zoom and we can do it live like this every
- 4:14Speaker 1: so often. But the day I record myself walking backwards,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I have someone recording me walk backwards, like just to
- 4:21Speaker 1: do it in some cool music like come slap me
- 4:24Speaker 1: content creators. Man. I guess so we we mentioned it earlier,
- 4:27Speaker 1: pinut did. We had a great guest on earlier, Brandon Marshall.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Let's take a listening unto his interview and we're back.
- 4:39Speaker 1: We gotta we gotta real treat right now. Um, I
- 4:41Speaker 1: want to welcome to the show one of my former teammates,
- 4:45Speaker 1: former All Pro receiver and now business media mogul, Brandon Marshall.
- 4:51Speaker 1: We're trying to be like you, boss, you know, with
- 4:53Speaker 1: the podcast and everything. How you you you got going on.
- 4:55Speaker 1: You're like, y'all y'all blew up, y'all, blew all the
- 4:58Speaker 1: way up. We'll be big. Well, I think it's more
- 5:00Speaker 1: so timing right, like we saw podcast blowing up in
- 5:06Speaker 1: the NBA unfiltered and for us in the pandemic. You know,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I just had this idea of like, look I just
- 5:14Speaker 1: invested fifty and equipment. I had a social media team
- 5:17Speaker 1: talking about telling the story of House of Athlete, my
- 5:19Speaker 1: wellness company that I'm passionate about is to me as
- 5:23Speaker 1: my life's work, and so we're looking at all these
- 5:26Speaker 1: resources that we had, was like, let's just try to
- 5:28Speaker 1: sell a show so everybody is home and you know
- 5:31Speaker 1: the stories that we were telling, and it was just
- 5:33Speaker 1: the stuff that we talked about all the time. So
- 5:36Speaker 1: whether it was me Oho and Reggie Wayne, or if
- 5:39Speaker 1: it was just US three and bran U Lacker or
- 5:43Speaker 1: Penut I mean, uh Julius Peppers, it was always gonna
- 5:47Speaker 1: be the same vibe. Like we shared this brotherhood, this fraternity,
- 5:51Speaker 1: and it's like, man, it's so special and just putting cameras,
- 5:57Speaker 1: lights up, cameras, microphones, that's all it is, Like we're
- 6:01Speaker 1: capturing that. You know, That's what this whole space is about.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You know. That's one great thing about when we practiced
- 6:07Speaker 1: all the time too, Like no day was ever really
- 6:10Speaker 1: the same. I know we had the same schedule, but
- 6:12Speaker 1: you never know what you're gonna get when you're dealing
- 6:13Speaker 1: with all these great guys and the vibes that you
- 6:15Speaker 1: would have, like you're talking about and so I want
- 6:18Speaker 1: you to tell me some of the good, Like give
- 6:20Speaker 1: me two or three great stories about ump Nut at practice,
- 6:23Speaker 1: because I've heard about the rivalry. It is a rivalry
- 6:26Speaker 1: and it was definitely some heated battles were my hatred. Yes,
- 6:30Speaker 1: So going in to the Chicago Bears, I knew obviously
- 6:34Speaker 1: knew who Peanut was. Peanut Punch was legendary um, but
- 6:40Speaker 1: I didn't know how he how elite he was. Right,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I practiced against cham Bailey Um after I left Chicago,
- 6:47Speaker 1: an opportunity to practice against the roll Reeves and so,
- 6:50Speaker 1: like I remember running a jerk route and anybody else
- 6:58Speaker 1: in the world, like I would get open because you
- 6:59Speaker 1: get it's a three way go and he would just
- 7:02Speaker 1: sit on that and he would be right there. I'm like, yo,
- 7:06Speaker 1: how and he's like, well, I'm forcing you to go
- 7:08Speaker 1: this way, you know. So the strategy and his thought
- 7:11Speaker 1: process of every single play, every single details, like this
- 7:14Speaker 1: dudes a lead. And it wasn't just the physical right
- 7:18Speaker 1: like he's a specimen tall, the Peanut Punch, but literally
- 7:22Speaker 1: every single move that you would make he had an
- 7:25Speaker 1: answer for or he would force you to do something.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So going into Chicago, I had to put my cleats
- 7:31Speaker 1: every single day because I wanted to beat his ass.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Can I curse on this podcast? Like that's what I wanted.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And I came in very fiery, and I went and say,
- 7:41Speaker 1: like they taught me how to, they showed me what
- 7:44Speaker 1: the team is, and I still made mistakes, but like
- 7:47Speaker 1: I wasn't like always the best teammate, you know, so
- 7:50Speaker 1: like sometimes I would take it too personal and he's
- 7:54Speaker 1: not backing down right, so we'll be out there literally
- 7:57Speaker 1: like you gotta pull us apart whatever. It was legendary practices. Yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 1: we were stubborn two minute drills because I love you
- 8:06Speaker 1: would give us you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, we we'd
- 8:08Speaker 1: get like some crazy offenses up you gotta score touchdown
- 8:11Speaker 1: or whatever. In situations, I mean, if he'd catch the
- 8:14Speaker 1: ball or I knock it out and it was like
- 8:16Speaker 1: no no, if he called us like no no, then
- 8:19Speaker 1: you can't help. But taking persons like I know, I
- 8:21Speaker 1: just his feet was out of bounder, you know, ford
- 8:24Speaker 1: Tay would do something and it would they're trying to
- 8:26Speaker 1: keep the drill going so they can get some stuff
- 8:29Speaker 1: players like you don't like you like, no, he was
- 8:32Speaker 1: holding this, that's passing affairs coached Peanut Cane and it's like, no,
- 8:36Speaker 1: you know, moving back and you you can't help, but
- 8:39Speaker 1: your emotions get in there, you know what I'm saying.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Like it's like I want to win him. I want
- 8:43Speaker 1: to beat his ass too. Like you can't come on down, coach,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you can as a Chicago Bear, practicing against pe Nut
- 8:51Speaker 1: was he only got the ball out once? Like that
- 8:54Speaker 1: was my number one goal going into practice, Like, I
- 8:58Speaker 1: know I'm gonna kept some balls as soon as I
- 9:00Speaker 1: get up filed his his butt is not getting this
- 9:03Speaker 1: ball out. He got it out once. That was one
- 9:06Speaker 1: of the most devastated days ever. All right, tell me
- 9:09Speaker 1: about this. What do you think about the Bears all
- 9:11Speaker 1: time rankings? Do you guys know this? That's where you
- 9:14Speaker 1: guys are at. Both you guys are on the list
- 9:15Speaker 1: the top one hundred Bears of all time. Yeah, I
- 9:17Speaker 1: think b Marshall you are eighty one. Yeah, Peanut you
- 9:20Speaker 1: are thirty one of all time. What's your opinions on that?
- 9:24Speaker 1: How does that make you feel? Well? First, I think
- 9:25Speaker 1: Peanuts should be probably top twenty. And I know there's
- 9:29Speaker 1: some legendary Bears that That's what I loved about the organization.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Being on that team is that when you walked in,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you walked into like it's almost like royalty, right, Like
- 9:36Speaker 1: you're playing with Hall of Famers and goats and you're
- 9:38Speaker 1: seeing them in the rafters. Uh. And I still believe
- 9:42Speaker 1: he's top twenty. I feel like if I, if I play, uh,
- 9:45Speaker 1: if I if I stayed longer with Chicago, I would
- 9:48Speaker 1: definitely be up there, um, because I had some really
- 9:51Speaker 1: good years there, but I didn't stay long enough. I
- 9:54Speaker 1: do think eighty one is kind of disrespectful. Can I
- 9:56Speaker 1: get like seventy? You know what I mean? Like I
- 9:59Speaker 1: appreciate that out, but I was the piggyback. Yeah. I
- 10:04Speaker 1: think if you would have stayed there longer, if you
- 10:05Speaker 1: would have had it weren't three Yeah, I was there
- 10:07Speaker 1: three years. Yeah. I think if you would have had
- 10:09Speaker 1: a longer career in Chicago, you would easily top thirty. Yeah. Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: for sure, because that's what I'm saying. You could you
- 10:21Speaker 1: could have. Yeah. And you know another great thing is,
- 10:23Speaker 1: so I don't know if you remember this, so b Marsh,
- 10:26Speaker 1: I played you guys with that Saints in Denver when
- 10:29Speaker 1: you were in Denver. I remember early in your career,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I thought you were gonna break every record in receiving,
- 10:34Speaker 1: like you guys were on fire early in your career,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and then you ended up bouncing around a little bit.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Like what was your experience like from from that transition,
- 10:41Speaker 1: like you leave in Denver to Chicago. Do you think
- 10:44Speaker 1: that takes down your career experience at all being going
- 10:47Speaker 1: three or four different teams from a football standpoint, yes, right,
- 10:50Speaker 1: Like you know, again, remember my first five years of
- 10:53Speaker 1: my career four five years, and my career was tumultuous, right,
- 10:56Speaker 1: Like I was getting in a lot of trouble, you know.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You know, that's where the mental health stuff came in,
- 11:01Speaker 1: you know, trying to learn myself, figure out why I
- 11:03Speaker 1: thought the way I thought, why I did the things
- 11:05Speaker 1: that I did. So it was tough, so I understand why.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Like the transition from Denver to Miami, my second year
- 11:11Speaker 1: in Miami, I actually was a year I transformed and
- 11:14Speaker 1: I got it right. And then going to Chicago, I
- 11:17Speaker 1: was a better teammate, you know, but I still was
- 11:19Speaker 1: rough around the edges. Um. So from a football standpoint,
- 11:23Speaker 1: you look at it and be like, dang man, dude,
- 11:24Speaker 1: bounce around a little bit because of you know, maybe
- 11:28Speaker 1: how he approached things at times, but from a human experience,
- 11:31Speaker 1: it was phenomenal. I played in the biggest cities, man,
- 11:33Speaker 1: and you know, I met so many great people like
- 11:35Speaker 1: I played with Jason Taylor, I played with Peanut, I
- 11:38Speaker 1: pay with Julius Peppers. I played with Matt Forte. I
- 11:41Speaker 1: played with you know, Champ Bailey. I played with Darrelle Reevers,
- 11:45Speaker 1: New York, Chicago, Miami. Even my last cup of tea
- 11:49Speaker 1: was Seattle in the Saints, so I was able to
- 11:51Speaker 1: even see Drew Brees sit there rock bro. I saw
- 11:55Speaker 1: Drew Brees do this after Fast Friday, everybody's gone. He
- 12:03Speaker 1: goes into the weight room because he's waiting for everybody
- 12:05Speaker 1: to clear out of the indoor after we just did
- 12:07Speaker 1: a walk through. Media's in there. He's standing there in
- 12:11Speaker 1: front of the in front of the mirror. I'm on
- 12:12Speaker 1: the StairMaster, and he rocks like this for thirty minutes,
- 12:17Speaker 1: going side to side. I go up to the strength
- 12:19Speaker 1: of conditioning coach and said, what does he because I
- 12:21Speaker 1: just got there. I said what is he doing? He said,
- 12:24Speaker 1: He's going through every single play in this hid in
- 12:27Speaker 1: every situation, and he does this every Friday, every Friday.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I saw him doing. I was in there with every Friday.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Every Friday he threw out there. He would go through
- 12:36Speaker 1: like in the end zone. Sometimes that's like going through
- 12:38Speaker 1: plays in his mind that they were gonna held on
- 12:40Speaker 1: the call. She on Sunday, and he went through the
- 12:42Speaker 1: whole call. Sheot if I would have played with Drew,
- 12:44Speaker 1: if Drew could have been a Chicago I don't. I
- 12:47Speaker 1: don't want superside numerous super Bowls, numerous with our defense numerous.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's why I was hot though, uh the year, and
- 12:54Speaker 1: I feel like the biggest mistakes of Chicago Bears made
- 12:57Speaker 1: was letting go love you and then also didn't go
- 13:00Speaker 1: Brian Orlacker like oh the Monster of the Midway talking
- 13:03Speaker 1: about office nose defense. Right. All we need to do
- 13:06Speaker 1: is have some continuity and what we were trying to
- 13:10Speaker 1: do on our run in the past game we had myself,
- 13:12Speaker 1: Matt Forte, we had Devin Hester. I don't know what
- 13:15Speaker 1: the hell Jake Cutler was doing, but like us, Devin Hester,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you understand like they were scoring a touchdown her to
- 13:23Speaker 1: a game when I first got there. You're talking about
- 13:27Speaker 1: legendary and it wasn't just like you had the stars,
- 13:29Speaker 1: but they played on the string. I remember coming out,
- 13:31Speaker 1: man we had this little route in the in the
- 13:33Speaker 1: slot where I could do anything I wanted to do,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and I was killing him. I was killing him about
- 13:38Speaker 1: two weeks and then all of a sudden, it just
- 13:40Speaker 1: they locked it up and they start talking. Briggs be
- 13:43Speaker 1: talking about what they would come bro. I wish we
- 13:49Speaker 1: had more time to dive into it. And it was
- 13:50Speaker 1: like Chicago was so awesome. You go to the silent
- 13:54Speaker 1: here and sitting there, five of them, six of them, like, Yo,
- 13:57Speaker 1: Pepsi's up, Pepsi's up. What are you doing well this
- 14:00Speaker 1: time when we say pepsi, PEPs we're gonna give him
- 14:02Speaker 1: cover three. But then if I say Pepsi's down and
- 14:05Speaker 1: I say pepsi, pepsi, then it's something different, something different.
- 14:09Speaker 1: They played the game like they paid Manning, but all
- 14:11Speaker 1: of them want the same. Yeah. Brown was real good
- 14:15Speaker 1: at like switching up the calls and making us do
- 14:18Speaker 1: certain you know, this week we're gonna use this. Okay,
- 14:21Speaker 1: this week this is the dummy call, but we're still
- 14:24Speaker 1: gonna keep you know, making them think we're cover to
- 14:26Speaker 1: cover through you know whatever. Blitz. Yeah, it was. It
- 14:29Speaker 1: was it was pretty dope. And in that matter, he's
- 14:31Speaker 1: he's got a football mind. It's yeah, it was. It
- 14:34Speaker 1: was fun to play with. He's like a field general.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Him and Mike Brown, like the way they the way
- 14:39Speaker 1: their minds would think it was. I wish you could
- 14:41Speaker 1: have played. You would Oh my god, you would have thrived.
- 14:44Speaker 1: You would have thrived. Yeah, I would have been I
- 14:46Speaker 1: would have been cold. Um, I'm not used to that.
- 14:48Speaker 1: That weather up there. You gotta be honest with you.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It was brutal. It's gotta be. But we didn't wear
- 14:52Speaker 1: sleeves that as cold as it was, you didn't even
- 14:56Speaker 1: wear sleeves. It's just it was some mentality, right. It
- 14:59Speaker 1: was tough. We played in uh below like thirteen below zero.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Grown men played against the Dallas Cowboys. I knew we
- 15:09Speaker 1: were gonna win because we were the only ones warming
- 15:12Speaker 1: up and they didn't even come out the tunnel. DEAs
- 15:13Speaker 1: Brian peaked his head, I went right back and say,
- 15:15Speaker 1: we got this day, all right, So here we go.
- 15:17Speaker 1: We gotta get to a couple of real questions here.
- 15:19Speaker 1: All right, you're the shows and stuff that you've been doing,
- 15:22Speaker 1: your podcasts, all these other things. How do you think
- 15:25Speaker 1: that that has helped you in your transition post football career,
- 15:30Speaker 1: because I was asked about your your your mental episodes
- 15:33Speaker 1: and really being rough around the edges earlier career, like
- 15:36Speaker 1: how you have you transformed and held up together? Well,
- 15:39Speaker 1: I gave you a hug earlier. I'm like, bro, you
- 15:41Speaker 1: are still well put together, that's right. Yeah, I'm still
- 15:44Speaker 1: like ten over, I need to drop. I want to
- 15:45Speaker 1: get leaner. But um, in two thousand and fortunates playing
- 15:49Speaker 1: for Chicago Bears, I spent my whole offseason at Harvard
- 15:52Speaker 1: studying transition, and what came out of it was content
- 15:55Speaker 1: and commerce, and I like, I opened up my facility.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I opened up with some facility. That opened up my office.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I started doing inside the NFL, so on that would fly,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I would fly there. So I started that transition back then.
- 16:10Speaker 1: So everything I'm doing now literally comes from that case
- 16:13Speaker 1: study from two thousand and fourteen. And then also uh
- 16:17Speaker 1: ruffles some feathers to like Matt Fort J. Cutler, a
- 16:20Speaker 1: couple of guys on the team. They would look at
- 16:21Speaker 1: me like, why are you doing this now? And I
- 16:23Speaker 1: always felt like I get it, you know, and it
- 16:26Speaker 1: was disruptive, But I'm like man, if I don't do
- 16:29Speaker 1: it now, I'm never gonna have an opportunity like this.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Like I'm trying to build it so that transition is easier. Um,
- 16:37Speaker 1: but a lot of guys didn't respected and then when
- 16:39Speaker 1: the new regime came in that first meeting, it's like, yo,
- 16:41Speaker 1: we don't want you doing none of that. And I
- 16:43Speaker 1: remember walking out the office as I called my my agents, like, hey, man,
- 16:46Speaker 1: get me traded, because like I truly believe that, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 1: we could do more than just play ball. Like I
- 16:52Speaker 1: was still putting up yards fourteen touchdowns. I got to
- 16:56Speaker 1: the Jets and I was still doing it and I
- 16:58Speaker 1: had my best year ever. So yeah, it's like they're
- 17:02Speaker 1: trying to put you in a box, and you know
- 17:04Speaker 1: you you're you're so much more than I'm more than
- 17:07Speaker 1: just football. We we have might go like on a
- 17:08Speaker 1: little bit earlier, and you know, we're talking about podcasts
- 17:11Speaker 1: and like specifically your podcast, one of your podcasts and
- 17:14Speaker 1: all the guests that you have on there, like obviously
- 17:17Speaker 1: a lot of form of athletes football, basketball, and I
- 17:21Speaker 1: think what I love most is y'all don't really just
- 17:23Speaker 1: talk about what that person player uh did on the
- 17:27Speaker 1: court on the field, it's just about like life. And
- 17:29Speaker 1: then you hear these stories about what they do, what
- 17:32Speaker 1: they accomplished outside of their sport. You know what I'm saying,
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's like, damn, I didn't. I didn't. I didn't know that.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Like I didn't know that person accomplished this, that they
- 17:39Speaker 1: were this smarter, they had a degree in this, or
- 17:41Speaker 1: they had to figure this out, or they have this business.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Like I think, I think that's dope. And I applaud
- 17:47Speaker 1: you for having the timing and everything else that you're
- 17:50Speaker 1: doing with your house of athlete Like, I think it's dope. Man.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I love what you're doing. Thank you, Thank you a
- 17:55Speaker 1: lot of hard work. And you know it's it's tough. Now.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I invested ten million into it, pretty much all my
- 18:00Speaker 1: football money. I'm in there. It's like it's yeah, boom
- 18:03Speaker 1: or bus. But they said that's the best way to
- 18:05Speaker 1: do an entrepreneur. You shouldn't invest with people unless they're
- 18:08Speaker 1: all in, if they got other jobs and some other
- 18:10Speaker 1: things like be careful on that. But when somebody goes
- 18:13Speaker 1: all in, they burned the boats. There is no turning back.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And so for you to be all in, I think
- 18:18Speaker 1: it's a beautiful thing. And that's what allows you to
- 18:19Speaker 1: get to where you are right now because there is
- 18:22Speaker 1: no turning back. You're all in. And so I kind
- 18:24Speaker 1: of have a hitch because I can go like the E, S,
- 18:26Speaker 1: P and or FS want to make some money if
- 18:28Speaker 1: I had to, you seek, don't you see? Yeah? You're good?
- 18:33Speaker 1: All right? All right, So let's talk about this partnership
- 18:37Speaker 1: that you you've done with Tom Brady TV twelve. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: want to I want to buy some stuff, so let
- 18:43Speaker 1: me know that is it all? Is it all? Just
- 18:46Speaker 1: the last picture? I think this is yeah right. I
- 18:50Speaker 1: felt like, I mean, man, he could do that. No, no,
- 18:55Speaker 1: my part, don't do that picture. I'm just telling you.
- 18:59Speaker 1: He was leo like they no definition? Sorry good you
- 19:05Speaker 1: look good like a model? Yeah no? So um pills
- 19:10Speaker 1: T shirt? So what house of athlete is? It's it's
- 19:12Speaker 1: our experience. You played what twelve? But he only played
- 19:18Speaker 1: yeah right, I know you always like damn yeah back
- 19:20Speaker 1: in the day you had them great, Like who's that
- 19:23Speaker 1: back there? I had to get it. It's all respected, literally,
- 19:29Speaker 1: that kind of that's why I stood out. That's right.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It's like literally like that's the guy with the ground.
- 19:34Speaker 1: But I interrupt to keep going bad. Know how many
- 19:36Speaker 1: years you play? You played thirteen? I played thirteen. So
- 19:39Speaker 1: our experience of walking in the Bears facility or the
- 19:43Speaker 1: Saints facility, that's House of Athlete, the fundamentals, right, like
- 19:46Speaker 1: every single day, this is what we lean into our routine,
- 19:50Speaker 1: how we train, how we feel, eat, drink, how we
- 19:54Speaker 1: recover our mental fitness right from performance to impairment. And
- 19:57Speaker 1: then also try community. Right, So those five things were
- 20:02Speaker 1: modifying and giving to the general population. We've always had
- 20:05Speaker 1: access to the best gurus out there. So TV twelve
- 20:09Speaker 1: that's pliability, that's that's alex right. So now I'm being
- 20:13Speaker 1: able to have TV twelve inside of House of Athlete.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Everywhere we go, there a guitar there in Vegas, We're
- 20:19Speaker 1: gonna go to London, in Paris, you know, l A, Miami.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So being able to take these things that help us
- 20:26Speaker 1: perform at a high level every single day, year in
- 20:29Speaker 1: the year out and give that to everybody, that's what
- 20:31Speaker 1: it is. And you know, we launched h O A
- 20:33Speaker 1: plus because obviously breaking mortar it's hard and we won't
- 20:36Speaker 1: be everywhere. So being able to almost democratize you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: health and wellness for everybody, Like where the healthiest people
- 20:44Speaker 1: on the planet. Right, So that's what House of Athlete
- 20:47Speaker 1: and h O A Plus is and our app store. Um,
- 20:50Speaker 1: just taking the things that we do every single day
- 20:52Speaker 1: and giving it to everybody. Well, man, I know we
- 20:55Speaker 1: gotta wrap you a busy guy here a radio role
- 20:57Speaker 1: super Bowl. Thank you so much and let me do
- 21:01Speaker 1: I received what you said about my work as I received,
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think very much. I really do. Really really you
- 21:08Speaker 1: need to learn how to take compliments better that I
- 21:14Speaker 1: do know. I mean, I mean, you're a Hall of Famer.
- 21:17Speaker 1: You're one of the best to ever do it. I
- 21:19Speaker 1: hate it practice against you. There as times I didn't
- 21:21Speaker 1: like you, you know, but when you look back, it's like, man,
- 21:23Speaker 1: this dude made me better. And you're a phenomenal person
- 21:25Speaker 1: what you do in the community and the family. And
- 21:28Speaker 1: you also were one of those guys while you were
- 21:30Speaker 1: playing what you were doing with the government still do right,
- 21:33Speaker 1: like you are a blueprint for a lot of us. So, like,
- 21:36Speaker 1: I know, we had some tough battles out there, but
- 21:39Speaker 1: you made me better and all of you guys did
- 21:42Speaker 1: so I'm appreciative of you, man. I received that. I
- 21:45Speaker 1: appreciate you, thanks for coming on the show. Thank you.
- 22:01Speaker 1: We're joined by two men who are changing the game
- 22:04Speaker 1: of virtual reality with our company, Status Pro, Andrew Hawkins
- 22:09Speaker 1: and Troy Jones. What's going on, fellas? Appreciate you all coming,
- 22:12Speaker 1: not too much. Appreciate you guys having this man. So
- 22:15Speaker 1: one of the questions I really want to get to
- 22:17Speaker 1: right away is, uh, Lamar Jackson. How in the world
- 22:21Speaker 1: did y'all get him to be like the face of
- 22:24Speaker 1: Status Status Pro? Also, how did you too link up
- 22:27Speaker 1: to do this together? Did then get another guy? You
- 22:30Speaker 1: gotta start the yeah, yeah, yeah, jumped the gun. So
- 22:33Speaker 1: originally to me and Troy were both former athletes. He
- 22:36Speaker 1: was a Division one quarterback. Obviously I played in the league.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Um while I was playing in the league, my older
- 22:41Speaker 1: brother played in the league back in the day. I
- 22:42Speaker 1: got family members, and from my perspective, it was like, okay,
- 22:46Speaker 1: in sports, when you're done, as you guys know, there's
- 22:51Speaker 1: not a lot of avenues for you to continue to
- 22:52Speaker 1: affect the game that you devote at your life too,
- 22:54Speaker 1: And so I was trying to figure out a way
- 22:56Speaker 1: to make the fact that you have experienced playing the
- 22:59Speaker 1: value propositions. So I started a company that was gonna
- 23:02Speaker 1: start mobile application that literally would be just that the
- 23:06Speaker 1: value was their expertise and so and that is I'm like, man,
- 23:10Speaker 1: it's just like sixty and I'm in the league. I'm
- 23:12Speaker 1: trying to get this company going. I'm trying to think
- 23:14Speaker 1: of the next step. And I'm like, man, VR and
- 23:16Speaker 1: A are is where things are going? How do we
- 23:18Speaker 1: get there? And so I like basically scoured the country
- 23:21Speaker 1: looking for for companies to partner with. To make a
- 23:24Speaker 1: long story short, Troy was running a sports strategy for VR,
- 23:29Speaker 1: A our company that thought the same thing, and as
- 23:31Speaker 1: former athletes, we just super clicked and it was like
- 23:35Speaker 1: we met I think a seventeen um and then in
- 23:40Speaker 1: lateen we like kind of came back together and started like, Yo,
- 23:43Speaker 1: what does this look like to do this? Y'all study
- 23:45Speaker 1: this in college like undergrad as far as like programming
- 23:48Speaker 1: or so. My story is obviously I didn't make it
- 23:52Speaker 1: to the league, So like most athletes transitioning from college,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out what my next step is
- 23:56Speaker 1: rey at that point, so I had a bunch of
- 23:57Speaker 1: random jobs from working in them all. Its working at
- 24:00Speaker 1: you know and finance at Morgan Stanley. Eventually I landed
- 24:03Speaker 1: at the n f L p A is an intern
- 24:05Speaker 1: and really just trying to trying to figure out, all right,
- 24:07Speaker 1: where's the opportunity and it may make an impact, right
- 24:09Speaker 1: like ultimately, as kids, that's ultimately what you want to do.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Let your name mean something sports. So at that time
- 24:15Speaker 1: I got introduced the virtual reality. I obviously understood the
- 24:18Speaker 1: athlete perspective of where the game was going. Right in
- 24:20Speaker 1: the p A, obviously the focus is preserved the player,
- 24:22Speaker 1: protect the player. Um So I partnered with two other gentlemen.
- 24:25Speaker 1: We built this product that allowed players to practice against
- 24:28Speaker 1: holograms because during phase one to begin to part O
- 24:30Speaker 1: t A is you're not allowed to line up against
- 24:32Speaker 1: a heartbeat, right, So this idea of all right, instead
- 24:34Speaker 1: of you know, you simulating walk throughs against a trans can,
- 24:37Speaker 1: what does it look like to actually put the defense
- 24:38Speaker 1: up on on this big wall, through wall or through
- 24:41Speaker 1: the VR headset and have your guys cycle through rep
- 24:44Speaker 1: cycle through formations. We ended up getting the Ravens to
- 24:46Speaker 1: sign up. So from there I left the p A
- 24:48Speaker 1: went into this full time. That's when Hawk and I
- 24:50Speaker 1: connected and we kind of just hit it off running
- 24:52Speaker 1: from that standpoint, and then we're business guys like our
- 24:55Speaker 1: backgrouard players, but we understand like we're also both started
- 24:59Speaker 1: as walk on That significant because we earned scholarships and
- 25:02Speaker 1: obviously went even even further. But it was like we
- 25:04Speaker 1: approached the game from all the different angles, from preparation,
- 25:08Speaker 1: how you prepare, knowing everybody on the field and what
- 25:11Speaker 1: their jobs are, understanding from a fan aspect, you know
- 25:14Speaker 1: what I'm saying, we're not five star recruits and that
- 25:16Speaker 1: that's significant. So as we built the consumer product and
- 25:19Speaker 1: it's from the eyes of the athlete, it's like, yo,
- 25:21Speaker 1: we are the best founder market fit to create this
- 25:25Speaker 1: experience because we've been there a quarterback, and he's a quarterback.
- 25:28Speaker 1: He knows how you scan the field, the things that
- 25:31Speaker 1: as a fan they've always wanted that last level of access,
- 25:34Speaker 1: which is what does it feel like to be on
- 25:35Speaker 1: the field. And again we were subject matter experts there
- 25:38Speaker 1: and we just continued to build from that. So you're
- 25:40Speaker 1: selling me on it right now and I don't know
- 25:42Speaker 1: all of what it is. Like, how how did you
- 25:44Speaker 1: sell lamar on On on your products? Yeah, so when
- 25:47Speaker 1: we first have to had the training product that was
- 25:49Speaker 1: going well, but then we saw this. We would put
- 25:51Speaker 1: the headset on players, they would have fun, they wouldn't
- 25:53Speaker 1: want to take it off. So I got together was
- 25:55Speaker 1: like the head said, what is what? What it was?
- 25:57Speaker 1: At the time, it was reality headset. It's called the
- 25:59Speaker 1: Microsoft HoloLens. Now in the game, we'll get to that,
- 26:01Speaker 1: but it's on like the quest vr ha sbr UM.
- 26:05Speaker 1: But we was like, what does it look like to
- 26:06Speaker 1: build a game from it? It was nothing that ever existed.
- 26:08Speaker 1: We knew the next step for fans was seeing what
- 26:10Speaker 1: it would be like to be their favorite athletes and
- 26:12Speaker 1: who's a human video game. At the time, it was
- 26:15Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, so he didn't have any endorsement deals at
- 26:17Speaker 1: the time. It was his high year when he won
- 26:20Speaker 1: the MVP. We had some mutual connections, so we're like, hey,
- 26:23Speaker 1: let's approach him and him and Felicia on it. The
- 26:25Speaker 1: one thing about Lamar and Felicia is they love authenticity.
- 26:28Speaker 1: They respect people who can who can relate. So we
- 26:31Speaker 1: went to them with the opportunity. We put the headset
- 26:33Speaker 1: on Felicia first. She loved it, believed in it's all
- 26:36Speaker 1: the future. Eventually got what l did the same thing
- 26:38Speaker 1: Um and the rest was history. Now, he obviously is
- 26:40Speaker 1: a big believer in a company, big believer in us,
- 26:42Speaker 1: and practically family so and I think it was like
- 26:44Speaker 1: a mutual like risks that that was taking right, Like,
- 26:47Speaker 1: we started talking about Lamar after his rookie year, and
- 26:51Speaker 1: that was when everyone was like, Oh, he's running the ball,
- 26:53Speaker 1: he's not this, and he's not that, and we were like, yo,
- 26:56Speaker 1: we think this guy is going to be the next level.
- 26:59Speaker 1: You think he's going to shock people. And that's when
- 27:00Speaker 1: we started the conversations that I think our belief in
- 27:03Speaker 1: that and then their belief in us, because at the time,
- 27:05Speaker 1: it was just me and him and we're gonna We're saying, hey,
- 27:08Speaker 1: we're gonna build this NFL game, We're gonna do all
- 27:10Speaker 1: these things, and there was nothing that has ever been
- 27:13Speaker 1: like that before. And they were they were still like, Oh,
- 27:16Speaker 1: we think we believe in YouTube, we believe in the
- 27:18Speaker 1: vision that you're painting, and we're willing to basically going
- 27:23Speaker 1: on this road together. And here we are to three
- 27:26Speaker 1: years later. Well, it's it's crazy because like I grew
- 27:29Speaker 1: up a video game advocate, like I'm all in on
- 27:31Speaker 1: video games, and so now as everything has advanced. You
- 27:35Speaker 1: know Madden you can do thirty different things with each
- 27:37Speaker 1: individual player. Now about a couple of pushes the button,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and it's all going towards virtual reality because you want
- 27:42Speaker 1: to be there. Not only do I want to I
- 27:44Speaker 1: don't want to hit the button. I want to throw
- 27:45Speaker 1: the pass now. And you're allowing these people to do
- 27:48Speaker 1: this and give it the opportunity. I saw Mina Kimes
- 27:50Speaker 1: was doing something on one of you guys social media pushes.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Big fan of Mina. She's a football junkie. So the
- 27:57Speaker 1: more and more you get and you just introduce you
- 27:59Speaker 1: to people, people that love football, that they want to
- 28:01Speaker 1: play it but can't play it, this is a perfect
- 28:03Speaker 1: opportunity for him. So I kind of like it. I
- 28:06Speaker 1: need to put on some some goggles and get this
- 28:08Speaker 1: thing at least to try. I want to win it
- 28:10Speaker 1: a little bit. I need to try this thing a
- 28:11Speaker 1: couple of times. Is it on the so? Is that
- 28:13Speaker 1: how you I got the first one? I got the
- 28:16Speaker 1: black Oculus, so I got to bother to sit the
- 28:20Speaker 1: new Oculus. We're also dropping on the PSBR two, which
- 28:22Speaker 1: has a new headset coming out in February for the
- 28:24Speaker 1: PlayStation five. This month, so yeah, get on there. It
- 28:28Speaker 1: really is like an experience you've never had, you guys specifically,
- 28:31Speaker 1: and that was kind of the insight we had early
- 28:33Speaker 1: on is we had this idea, but we probably put
- 28:36Speaker 1: it on to this point probably a five thousand players,
- 28:40Speaker 1: and each and every time they take it off and
- 28:44Speaker 1: they're like, Yo, that feels exactly like it was on
- 28:47Speaker 1: the field, and it's going to take you back. Man.
- 28:50Speaker 1: My brother played teenage in the league, and he he
- 28:52Speaker 1: had like, you haven't had that feeling in nine years?
- 28:55Speaker 1: How would it in a quick version, Like, explain it
- 28:58Speaker 1: to me if when I put it on and I'm
- 29:00Speaker 1: not actually running, or am I if I'm a d lineman,
- 29:03Speaker 1: do I just do my hands like left right or
- 29:06Speaker 1: the farterback to start that. We're gonna eventually add all
- 29:09Speaker 1: the other positions. But the first part of the experience,
- 29:11Speaker 1: when you first enter in you're running out of the tunnel,
- 29:13Speaker 1: because we all know that as we're playing the game exactly,
- 29:17Speaker 1: and I talked about it like, all right, what do
- 29:18Speaker 1: we want our first time user experience to be? We're like, yo,
- 29:21Speaker 1: running out of the tunnel. For me, it was my
- 29:22Speaker 1: first game in college. We played Miami. I remember it. It
- 29:24Speaker 1: It was a labor day weekend night. He talked about
- 29:26Speaker 1: his experience, so we put that in and that's something
- 29:28Speaker 1: that everybody loves. Right as far as the game, you're
- 29:30Speaker 1: the quarterback and feeling everything that comes with being the
- 29:33Speaker 1: quarterback to control the command, Like everything starts and ends
- 29:36Speaker 1: with you, right, So we're starting there, but the goal
- 29:39Speaker 1: is to build it out to where again, eventually we
- 29:40Speaker 1: got all positions that you can play a virtual game.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Me and Hart versus y'all too. You know, I'm quarterback,
- 29:44Speaker 1: he receiver and we're just going back and forth. Let's go. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 1: it's gonna be done. Number one. I could probably let's go.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I'm ready. I'm reading right now. You guys talked about
- 29:58Speaker 1: YouTube and the team even coming together and all these
- 30:01Speaker 1: other things, and maybe you guys tell me your experience
- 30:04Speaker 1: or how you feel and knowing that you were two
- 30:05Speaker 1: young brothers, African American mills in this tech space, there's
- 30:09Speaker 1: not a lot of representation that looked like you, and
- 30:12Speaker 1: so how does that make you feel knowing that you're
- 30:14Speaker 1: doing that, and also what is it going to open
- 30:17Speaker 1: up the doors to other possibilities for you guys and
- 30:20Speaker 1: others for me? It was. It was actually a similar
- 30:22Speaker 1: a lot of parallels when I first started playing quarterback
- 30:24Speaker 1: when I was younger, right, because this is before today
- 30:26Speaker 1: right where there's a lot it's a lot of us um,
- 30:29Speaker 1: but there was perceptions around how you had to be
- 30:32Speaker 1: to be able to make it through and continue to
- 30:33Speaker 1: play through high school through college. And I think with
- 30:35Speaker 1: Hawk and I face is the same thing as entrepreneurs, right, like, Okay,
- 30:38Speaker 1: you got this perception, go to Harvard, Um. They've had
- 30:41Speaker 1: this experience, they have that they come from this background
- 30:43Speaker 1: which we don't have in gaming. Right, we're just two
- 30:45Speaker 1: dudes that just know how to hustle us that's scrappy um,
- 30:48Speaker 1: figuring it out as we go along. So it's been
- 30:50Speaker 1: definitely been a journey, but we were used to that
- 30:52Speaker 1: because we've always been underdogs. And for me, like I said,
- 30:54Speaker 1: I pulled from that experience of like feeling like, oh,
- 30:57Speaker 1: the biggest thing I learned in sports was be you like,
- 30:59Speaker 1: don't how to be the next quarter right, That's that
- 31:01Speaker 1: way you gotta own into your skills. And I feel
- 31:03Speaker 1: like we do the same thing with Status Pro. Just
- 31:05Speaker 1: like Yo, we know what makes us different, we know
- 31:07Speaker 1: what makes our companies stand out compared to the other
- 31:09Speaker 1: gaming companies. Let's just lean into that, be that, and
- 31:12Speaker 1: you know eventually they'll they'll buy in. And I think
- 31:14Speaker 1: we started to see that success is always, you know,
- 31:17Speaker 1: the the best source of making believers right. And I
- 31:21Speaker 1: think for Troy, we made that conscious decision decision really
- 31:24Speaker 1: early that we were gonna be ourselves because it was
- 31:27Speaker 1: very easy to go into this and be like, oh,
- 31:28Speaker 1: we gotta make sure we check all these boxes to
- 31:30Speaker 1: get people to believe. And I'm gonna be completely honest
- 31:33Speaker 1: and say there is times that works against us a
- 31:36Speaker 1: lot of times, and even we with proven success, we
- 31:40Speaker 1: still are trying to bust through the boxes that people
- 31:42Speaker 1: put us in. But we do think the end result
- 31:45Speaker 1: is going to be more people that people look at
- 31:48Speaker 1: and just say, oh, they look what they've done, um,
- 31:51Speaker 1: look at the way that they work and look at
- 31:54Speaker 1: the output. We should give more people chances, and that's
- 31:56Speaker 1: what we're hoping to be. I think it speaks to
- 31:58Speaker 1: being authentic. Yes, of course. I think when we start
- 32:01Speaker 1: doing this podcast at some point, at one point in time,
- 32:04Speaker 1: I think we were trying to do something a certain
- 32:06Speaker 1: kind of way and be a certain kind of way,
- 32:08Speaker 1: and I'm just like, hey, man, let's just let's just
- 32:10Speaker 1: be us. Let's just do what we do. Let's just
- 32:13Speaker 1: put the name on it, you know. I tell Thomas, like,
- 32:15Speaker 1: if you're gonna give me a question, you can't write
- 32:17Speaker 1: the whole thing out. I don't sound like that. I
- 32:19Speaker 1: can't be like that. Just give me a bullet, bro.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I got auticity. Authenticity's true authentic self. And it kind
- 32:27Speaker 1: of looks like that's what you're doing. You're taking your
- 32:29Speaker 1: experiences from from working hard, playing football, and then you're
- 32:32Speaker 1: applying it to this to the tech world, right, and
- 32:34Speaker 1: you're making it your own, doing it your own way,
- 32:36Speaker 1: putting your own little spice on it. And that's yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: that's how you have staying power to right, Like with
- 32:41Speaker 1: you guys in the podcast, like if you're trying to
- 32:44Speaker 1: be somebody else, you always be the second version of that.
- 32:46Speaker 1: If your Peanut and all your viewers like, yo, we
- 32:48Speaker 1: love Peanut, we love Harp, then there's nobody else that
- 32:51Speaker 1: can do that. They have to come to you for that.
- 32:53Speaker 1: So we're building as a company, like we're putting our
- 32:56Speaker 1: own selves in the product and the way we built it.
- 32:59Speaker 1: And when there's success and everyone tries to say, well,
- 33:01Speaker 1: now we're gonna rush to there, They're always going to
- 33:03Speaker 1: be second fiddle because to get us, you gotta come
- 33:06Speaker 1: to us, right, And that times into the lamar too. Right.
- 33:08Speaker 1: So when we sit there with telling him what we're
- 33:10Speaker 1: gonna do, how we're gonna execute it, and the fact
- 33:12Speaker 1: that he can relate on this idea of just being
- 33:13Speaker 1: authentic because obviously he is who he is at all times,
- 33:16Speaker 1: great guy. If anybody you know that it's close to
- 33:18Speaker 1: him and tell you how his team guy team got first,
- 33:20Speaker 1: and you know he's very passionate that way. But he's
- 33:23Speaker 1: who he is. And some people, you know, they're not
- 33:25Speaker 1: familiar with it, and you know they have their opinions
- 33:27Speaker 1: about it. But I think for us that's what brought
- 33:29Speaker 1: us all close because we're like, we're facing the same
- 33:31Speaker 1: thing in a different way. Um and now you're starting
- 33:33Speaker 1: to see the fruits of it with the game being
- 33:34Speaker 1: out his success. So it's just a lot of a lot.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I would ask you guys this now, would ask any
- 33:38Speaker 1: entrepreneur this. That's early stages and a lot of early stages.
- 33:41Speaker 1: But starting out, you guys are still young in this
- 33:43Speaker 1: is so how could more people. What can we do
- 33:46Speaker 1: to help and not only that, but how can we
- 33:48Speaker 1: help spread the word or what is something that your
- 33:50Speaker 1: company is looking to do next? Like what's gonna be
- 33:53Speaker 1: that next step for you guys? It's really great to
- 33:54Speaker 1: bust through. How do you create longevity or have this
- 33:58Speaker 1: runway of now you're getting steady in coming all these
- 34:00Speaker 1: others our company, you gotta we gotta stay alive. I
- 34:03Speaker 1: think that's the beauty of it, right. I think the
- 34:05Speaker 1: first point is to your point, busting through it was
- 34:08Speaker 1: very very important for us to show the awareness and
- 34:10Speaker 1: show what we're capable of. Like we don't ask people
- 34:13Speaker 1: were like, hey, where this you should go support? It's like, no,
- 34:15Speaker 1: go play the game when you can't try it where
- 34:17Speaker 1: you can you can try it the demos and stores
- 34:19Speaker 1: or wherever, and if it's dope and you like it,
- 34:22Speaker 1: tell people about it. And that's how we've grown. Like
- 34:24Speaker 1: when we first launched the game, it was a slow
- 34:27Speaker 1: trickle and the curve was kind of under low, and
- 34:30Speaker 1: it started to pick up. And that's a great thing
- 34:32Speaker 1: for us because that means it's grassroots. That means people
- 34:35Speaker 1: are talking about it means more and more people are
- 34:37Speaker 1: finding it and communicating and we just gotta stay on
- 34:40Speaker 1: that trajectory. And that's how you guys help try it.
- 34:43Speaker 1: And when you're like, yo, this feels exactly like it
- 34:45Speaker 1: does when I was in the stadium in New Orleans
- 34:48Speaker 1: or in Chicago, say that, because then fans are like, Yo,
- 34:50Speaker 1: if Peanut and Roman think that, then I need to
- 34:54Speaker 1: get in there and check it out, you know. So,
- 34:56Speaker 1: so y'all must have a mouthpiece, right, Like meaning when
- 34:59Speaker 1: I say mouth piece, something like, you know how to
- 35:01Speaker 1: talk to people, you know how to sell stuff, right,
- 35:02Speaker 1: So you gotta have them there since I know, startups
- 35:04Speaker 1: or or it takes a lot to convince someone to
- 35:08Speaker 1: give you millions, thousands whatever that money is where the
- 35:11Speaker 1: number is. So you got lebron Naomi Osaka, who's I
- 35:17Speaker 1: know he's an investor, Like what what is that like?
- 35:20Speaker 1: To have those influencers b yeah, A three big names
- 35:25Speaker 1: Like what is that like? Yeah? I think for us
- 35:27Speaker 1: it was about just getting people that understood what we
- 35:29Speaker 1: were trying to execute the vision that we had and
- 35:31Speaker 1: getting them to buy in. Right. So for us, it
- 35:33Speaker 1: was like, Okay, we can get the staff from a drake,
- 35:35Speaker 1: from a man, from a Lebron from a Naomi. They're
- 35:37Speaker 1: the best at what they do and if they see
- 35:39Speaker 1: our vision that we it was validation that we were
- 35:41Speaker 1: on the right track and we're doing something that we
- 35:43Speaker 1: think consumers want, right, because all of them in some
- 35:45Speaker 1: way impacts they. You know, Drake sells his music, Lebron's
- 35:48Speaker 1: obviously is Lebron, So how can we impact the sports
- 35:51Speaker 1: fan and people who want to feel what it's like
- 35:54Speaker 1: to experience with only one percent of people in the world, dude, Right,
- 35:56Speaker 1: So for them to back is it was just kind
- 35:57Speaker 1: of like, Okay, we're on the right track, We're headed
- 36:00Speaker 1: in the right direction. Was it important that they were
- 36:01Speaker 1: fans of football? I think so. I think yeah, because
- 36:07Speaker 1: I mean this is where we're starting and they are
- 36:09Speaker 1: all football fans, um. I think that was important for
- 36:12Speaker 1: them to come on with us. To Troy's point, the
- 36:14Speaker 1: other thing that is really dope is I think I
- 36:17Speaker 1: mean we have investors that are those who name Nao, Me, Drake, Lebron.
- 36:21Speaker 1: We also have owners of NFL teams, we have leagues involved,
- 36:26Speaker 1: we got some of the biggest VC firms. And to
- 36:29Speaker 1: your back to your point about authenticity, I think they
- 36:31Speaker 1: feel that you know what I mean. And I think
- 36:33Speaker 1: we have the ability to talk to the Lamars and
- 36:35Speaker 1: the owners of NFL teams and they both completely understand
- 36:39Speaker 1: and get division because of the way we painted and
- 36:41Speaker 1: they see their part in it. And so when we
- 36:43Speaker 1: were talking to all those people, we didn't try to oversell.
- 36:46Speaker 1: We actually the opposite. We underseil and over delivered. That's
- 36:49Speaker 1: our motto, you know. And so I think over time
- 36:51Speaker 1: people understand the kind of work that we put in
- 36:54Speaker 1: and if they see the way that we're on this
- 36:56Speaker 1: seven up early, going to sleep late, and they're like, yeah,
- 36:59Speaker 1: there was a people I want to take a chance
- 37:01Speaker 1: on because I know if if the worst case happening,
- 37:03Speaker 1: it doesn't work, it's not going to be because they
- 37:06Speaker 1: ain't working hard. They're not you know, drilled in on
- 37:09Speaker 1: the strategy in the gas. Yeah. Well look, man, I
- 37:11Speaker 1: want to say thank you guys for coming out here,
- 37:13Speaker 1: Thanks for telling us more about Status quo, sharing us
- 37:15Speaker 1: with our listeners. I gotta play the game. I do too,
- 37:18Speaker 1: and I have as I got the first version, Yeah,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I got the black version, second ones like the white,
- 37:23Speaker 1: the white, I got era. You gotta do all right,
- 37:28Speaker 1: I'm with it. Thank you guys may appreciate you, Thank you,
- 37:32Speaker 1: thank you. Keep crushing the fellows. You guys are inspiring
- 37:34Speaker 1: seriously than likewise appreciate it alright, pe Nut, I thought
- 37:45Speaker 1: that was great. Number one. I thought Brandon Marshall was
- 37:48Speaker 1: very vulnerable, and I always tell people vulnerability is strength,
- 37:51Speaker 1: especially when you open up and you share those thoughts
- 37:54Speaker 1: and emotions. I thought he was beautiful the way he
- 37:57Speaker 1: apologized to you, talk to you about being the teammate,
- 38:00Speaker 1: where he lacked that in life and uh and his
- 38:03Speaker 1: whole wellness, uh, goals and opportunities what he's trying to
- 38:06Speaker 1: do now is really beautiful. And also with Andrew Hawkins
- 38:09Speaker 1: and Troy Jones, I mean, these guys are too bright,
- 38:12Speaker 1: sharp guys for them to step out there and yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 1: I can't. It takes so much faith and confidence to
- 38:19Speaker 1: be entrepreneur. I don't have those aspirations. I don't either,
- 38:25Speaker 1: nor am I. I don't think I'm brave enough to
- 38:27Speaker 1: do it. I'm not brave enough to do it because
- 38:30Speaker 1: I haven't found the thing that I would want to
- 38:32Speaker 1: be an entrepreneur in. I think if it were something
- 38:34Speaker 1: that you wanted to do, say fashion sneakers, something like that, you,
- 38:40Speaker 1: you might change your attitude as far as how much
- 38:44Speaker 1: or how passionate you would be about that. The thing
- 38:46Speaker 1: that I appreciated about Brandon was his authenticity. Like, um,
- 38:51Speaker 1: we had a moment, like I received it. I thought
- 38:53Speaker 1: we were on bad terms. Now I shouldn't say bad
- 38:56Speaker 1: you know what. You're not always great at taking compliments either,
- 38:58Speaker 1: So it was a it was a really unique moment
- 39:01Speaker 1: for me to witness it. Well, I'm just I feel
- 39:03Speaker 1: like I'm like humble, and I try to just like no, no,
- 39:05Speaker 1: you know, I just I try to, but yeah, you're right.
- 39:07Speaker 1: But I really appreciated his authenticity. And I thought when
- 39:12Speaker 1: he loved Chicago, we weren't like on the best of terms,
- 39:15Speaker 1: but we didn't hate each other. So for him to
- 39:17Speaker 1: say those things, I was like, oh, man, okay, yeah,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I appreciate that I received that. As far as you
- 39:22Speaker 1: know Andrew and Troy, I I appreciate what they're doing
- 39:26Speaker 1: and I love that they are stepping out into the
- 39:29Speaker 1: tech world where it's probably a field that they're with
- 39:34Speaker 1: other people that don't look like them, you know too,
- 39:37Speaker 1: young African American males, and their their Troy place, and
- 39:40Speaker 1: they're doing some good things. And I'm I'm wanting nothing
- 39:43Speaker 1: but success for those two gentle Medish and Brandon as
- 39:46Speaker 1: well in their in their business. Man. I think another
- 39:48Speaker 1: cool thing about Troy and and Hawkins is uh Hawker
- 39:52Speaker 1: Andrew sorry, I used to play in football. Name is
- 39:56Speaker 1: that is that Uh not only are they new to
- 40:00Speaker 1: but they're so new to this space like this is
- 40:02Speaker 1: not something they grew up doing. This isn't something they
- 40:04Speaker 1: studied in college, but still finding this niche market that like,
- 40:09Speaker 1: you know what, we can we see a disruption happening here,
- 40:12Speaker 1: and that is something that's so necessary when you're early
- 40:15Speaker 1: stage entrepreneur guy and you dive in there and from
- 40:18Speaker 1: them all of a sudden breakthrough, having their first breakthrough
- 40:21Speaker 1: and having some of these meetings with these high level
- 40:23Speaker 1: UH influencers and big money people, and it's a shout
- 40:29Speaker 1: out to them. Man. Y'all y'all doing a great job. Man. Yeah. Man.
- 40:32Speaker 1: And so with all that being said, thank you guys
- 40:35Speaker 1: as always to our listeners for always tuning in. Like
- 40:38Speaker 1: I always remind you guys, because I know you do it,
- 40:41Speaker 1: but I just want to give a friendly reminder. Hit
- 40:43Speaker 1: that hit that like button, give us a review, makes
- 40:46Speaker 1: you hit follow, tell a friend, tell Peanut to tell
- 40:50Speaker 1: his friend to tell another friend to join us, and
- 40:53Speaker 1: uh continue to follow us anywhere you can hear your podcast,
- 40:57Speaker 1: whether this Apple Podcast, I Heart Radio, or aywhere else
- 41:00Speaker 1: you listen to your podcast. Thank you as always Peace
