- 0:00Leviticus chapter 4, let us pray.
- 0:05Our Father who's in heaven, Lord, you know all of our needs.
- 0:11Lord, search us, search our minds and our hearts.
- 0:16God, pull out the dross, pull out all the impurities, pull out
- 0:20the things that we're holding on to.
- 0:21God, we consecrate the temple today, drive out the money
- 0:27changers, flip over the tables. God, don't let them make
- 0:31merchandise out of us. God, we are yours.
- 0:36We are yours alone. We don't care about houses or
- 0:41land, we don't care about riches, money, God, we want the
- 0:45fear of the Lord. Teach us your ways, Father.
- 0:53Show up and show off and show out.
- 0:55God, You are holy and worthy. Mighty Lord, we praise your holy
- 1:03name. We enter in the gates with
- 1:05praise and Thanksgiving. God, we come in with clean hands
- 1:09and a pure heart. We have not bowed down to idols
- 1:12or swore by a false God, for this is the generation that
- 1:16seeks thy face. O Jacob, thank you, Father, for
- 1:26another day. Thank you, God, for giving us
- 1:30our marching orders, giving us health, Lord, helping us to see
- 1:34you and to see You correctly, helping us to have sound
- 1:38doctrine, sound theology. Father, thank you for the full
- 1:41context of Your word. Thank you, God, for all of the
- 1:45many things that you revealed to us.
- 1:48Lord, thank you for the convictions that we hold.
- 1:51Father, I pray that no one will talk us out of it.
- 1:54Father, that will be resolute, Lord, that it'll only be You
- 1:59that we want to serve. Lord, let the fear of man go.
- 2:03God, we fear you. Let everything else bow unto
- 2:07you, Father, for yours is the Kingdom, and the power and the
- 2:10glory, forever and ever. Amen.
- 2:14Let's start in verse one. And the Lord spoke unto Moses,
- 2:21saying, Speak to the children of Israel, saying, If a soul, if a
- 2:26soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments
- 2:30of the Lord concerning things with ought not to be done, and
- 2:35shall do against any of them. So here he's going to talk about
- 2:40some things that are not so sweet to his nostrils, some
- 2:43sense that he abhors. Friends, verse three, If the
- 2:52priest that is anointed do sin according to the sin of the
- 2:56people, then let him bring for his sin which he has sinned, a
- 3:01young bull without blemish unto the Lord for a sin offering.
- 3:05So we're going to get into this whole section of a sin offering
- 3:10friends, and a lot of these are going to be sins that they
- 3:16unwillingly knew that they were committing.
- 3:19But we are all sinful and that is what God wants us to know.
- 3:24Every single one of us has fallen short.
- 3:27There was no one that could ever save themselves.
- 3:30And that's what Jesus was so upset with the Pharisees and the
- 3:35Sadducees and the Sanhedrin when he came on the scene as they
- 3:39were trying to build all of these laws on top of the laws to
- 3:43protect them from breaking the law.
- 3:45And He was showing them that through all of their meticulous
- 3:50behavior, it still was not enough.
- 3:54And it would never be enough. Only Jesus Christ was the ever
- 3:58was the only one that ever fulfilled the law, was able to
- 4:01live up to every single standard of the law because He is the one
- 4:07who created it to show us our need for Himself.
- 4:11Praise the Lord God Almighty, we love Jesus for and he shall
- 4:16bring the bull onto the door of the Tabernacle of the
- 4:19congregation before the Lord, and shall lay his hand upon the
- 4:23bull's head and kill the bull before the Lord.
- 4:26So, so many times. You see that the person bringing
- 4:30it is to lean upon this animal to show that all of their sin
- 4:36was put upon the animal. You know, friends, this would
- 4:39have been a sight to see. All of it would have been in
- 4:44plain sight for the people to be able to look at, and to see that
- 4:48the priest here was putting his sins upon this animal. 5 And the
- 4:53priest that is anointed shall take of the bull's blood and
- 4:58bring it to the Tabernacle of the congregation. 6 And the
- 5:03priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it of the
- 5:08blood 7 times before the Lord, before the veil of the
- 5:11sanctuary. So imagine that this veil that
- 5:15is keeping them separate, and this blood that goes upon it,
- 5:21friends. And that is the only way that we
- 5:23could ever enter in to the holiest of the holy places, as
- 5:27if we're covered in the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 5:29One day you're going to stand before a holy God, and he's only
- 5:33going to see you one of two ways.
- 5:35There's not 1/3 option, friends, either he's going to see the
- 5:39blood of Jesus Christ covering you from the top of your head to
- 5:43the bottom of your feet. He's not going to see not a
- 5:47single sin that you've ever committed, period.
- 5:50And God is going to say, well done, good and faithful servant,
- 5:53come into the rest that I have prepared for you.
- 5:57Or you're going to try to enter in and there's going to be a sin
- 6:03in your life that is not covered by the blood.
- 6:07And Jesus is going to say, depart from me for I never knew
- 6:11you. And you're going to try to say,
- 6:12look at all these pedigree. Look at my resume.
- 6:16Look at all the religious things that I did.
- 6:19And he will say, go to where there's weeping and gnashing of
- 6:22teeth because you refuse to be covered in the blood.
- 6:26Friends, this is how important it is.
- 6:28Lock in 7 And the priest shall put some of the blood upon the
- 6:36horns of the altar of sweet incense for the Lord, which is
- 6:40in the Tabernacle of the congregation, and shall pour all
- 6:44the blood of the bull at the bottom of the altar of the burnt
- 6:47offering, which is at the door of the Tabernacle of the
- 6:49congregation. So you need to know Is Jesus's
- 6:52blood ran red down that cross, and is spilled out on the ground
- 6:57every place that had touched his holy friends. 8 And he shall
- 7:04take off from it all the fat of the bull for the sin offering,
- 7:08the fat that covers the inwards, and the fat that is upon the
- 7:11inwards. 9 and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them,
- 7:15which is by the flanks, and the call above the liver and the
- 7:19kidneys, He shall take away. 10 as it was taken off from the
- 7:23bull of the sacrifice of peace offerings, and the priest shall
- 7:26burn them upon the altar of the burnt offering.
- 7:31So here you can see that as they're dressing this animal
- 7:35out, friends, as they're butchering it down, God says to
- 7:39burn it because it is a sin offering.
- 7:43It is not to be enjoyed because there is no fun in sin.
- 7:48It is only fun for a season and it leads to death.
- 7:52It bites like a Viper. Friends, you need to know that
- 7:56sin will always lead to death. Anytime that that that Satan,
- 8:00that the enemy comes in and he tries to lie to you and he tries
- 8:04to get you to believe the lie that God's holding out on you.
- 8:07The original lie all the way back in the garden that the
- 8:11serpent told Eve whenever he was trying to get her to think that
- 8:15God was holding out on her. And you need to know that this
- 8:18pride of life, you need to know that this disgusting lust of the
- 8:24eyes and the disgusting lust of the flesh and how it always ends
- 8:29in death. No matter if it's greed, no
- 8:32matter if it's in the sexual immorality, no matter if it's in
- 8:38drunkenness, no matter if it's in any of the things that Satan
- 8:44tries to come in and to get us to, to walk in this pride and
- 8:48vanity, it always leads to death, friends.
- 8:52That's what you need to know at the outset.
- 8:54We need to understand that He does not play fair.
- 8:58He is the father of lies. He will drag you away.
- 9:01And it is nothing but disease. It is nothing but decay.
- 9:06It is nothing but torment, friends.
- 9:09And that is where it leads. It is death, friends, and that's
- 9:14what God wanted us to know when He's talking about the sin
- 9:17offering. 11 in the skin of the bull and all his flesh with his
- 9:28head and his legs and his inwards and his dung.
- 9:32That's what it is. It's just a bunch of dung.
- 9:35It is smelly, it is disgusting, it is repulsive.
- 9:40Friends, in the nostrils of a holy God, sin always leads to
- 9:46death. Well, even the whole bull shall
- 9:50he carry forth outside the camp unto a clean place where the
- 9:55ashes are poured out, and burn him on the wood with fire.
- 10:00Where the ashes are poured out shall he be burnt.
- 10:04It says take him out of here, get the sin out of here.
- 10:08And that is what is modeled and mirrored here, friends, is the
- 10:13sin offering must be dealt with and it must be taken out before
- 10:18it kills us, before it destroys us.
- 10:22Friends, it'll destroy your life.
- 10:24It'll destroy your body. It'll destroy your marriage.
- 10:27It'll destroy your health. It'll destroy your relationship
- 10:33with people, with your children, with your relatives.
- 10:36Sin will destroy all of those things.
- 10:40And we tout it and we're proud of it, friends, and we need, we
- 10:43need to understand the gravity of it.
- 10:46We need to understand the depravity of it.
- 10:48We need to understand that it does not ever go anywhere.
- 10:53It is always decay. 13 And if the whole congregation of Israel
- 10:59sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of
- 11:02the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the
- 11:06commandments of the Lord concerning things which should
- 11:09not be done, and are guilty. So here, this is the sin of
- 11:14ignorance, friends. And there is very clear mandates
- 11:20within the word of God of what we are to do.
- 11:23And when it finally comes to our attention that we've been
- 11:25sinning against God, we need to make it right. 14 When the sin
- 11:31which they have sinned against it is known, then the
- 11:35congregation shall offer a young bull for the sin, and bring him
- 11:39before the Tabernacle of the congregation.
- 11:41So this is the most expensive thing.
- 11:43This is what God deserves. He deserves our finest and our
- 11:47best. There's nothing better in life
- 11:49than to serve God when you were young.
- 11:52Friends, give him the best of your years. 15 And the elders of
- 11:57the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bull
- 12:02before the Lord, and the bull shall be killed before the Lord.
- 12:0616 And the priest that is anointed shall bring of the
- 12:09bull's blood to the Tabernacle of the congregation. 17 And the
- 12:14priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood, and sprinkle
- 12:17it 7 times before the Lord, even before the veil.
- 12:21Can you see the blood dripping down this veil, allowing them
- 12:26access into the throne room of God?
- 12:29This prototype of what's happening in the heavenly realm,
- 12:33day and night and night and day, forever and ever.
- 12:36A perpetual scene of pointing towards Jesus Christ.
- 12:42The land that was slain before the foundations of the earth. 4
- 12:46Living creatures bowing down the sea of glass mingled with fire,
- 12:52thundering peals of lightning. Friends, this rainbow above his
- 12:56head, can you see him, friends? He is the Lion of Judah, and he
- 12:59roars. 18 And he shall put some of the blood upon the horns of
- 13:04the altar which is before the Lord, that is, in the Tabernacle
- 13:08of the congregation. I shall shall pour out all the
- 13:12blood at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is
- 13:15at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation. 19 And he
- 13:19shall take all, all his fat from him, and burn it upon the altar.
- 13:24Give God the best part, Give God our first part. 20 And he shall
- 13:29do with the bull, as he did with the bull for a sin offering, so
- 13:36shall he do with this. And the priest shall make an
- 13:39atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them.
- 13:43So the first bull, that was for the priest, if he had sinned and
- 13:48he knew it. And here this is for the people,
- 13:51if they sinned unknowingly and it finally dawned upon them that
- 13:56they had sinned, perhaps they had found the book and they
- 13:59realized that they had been acting wickedly and serving
- 14:03false gods. And all of a sudden they want to
- 14:06start serving the Lord God Almighty.
- 14:09And they realize that they have done the things that he told
- 14:12them not to do, and they weren't doing the things that he told
- 14:15them to do. And here they're wanting to make
- 14:18it right. They want to be at one with God.
- 14:20They want His blessing and his covering.
- 14:22They want to be at 1:00 and they want to be justified in his
- 14:26sight. 21 And he shall carry forth the bull outside the camp
- 14:30and burn him as he burned the first bull.
- 14:33It is a sin offering for the congregation.
- 14:36So you need to understand is the the worship that God will accept
- 14:40is the worship that he outlines within his Word. 22 When a ruler
- 14:45has sinned and has done somewhat through ignorance against any of
- 14:49the commandments of the Lord his God concerning things which
- 14:52should not be done and is guilty, 23 Or if his sin, where
- 14:58he has sinned come to his knowledge, he shall bring his
- 15:02offering a kid of the goats, a male without blemish.
- 15:05So here you need to understand that you got to pay the IT costs
- 15:08to be the boss. If you're in a lead position,
- 15:12you're held to a higher regard. And that is why the Bible tells
- 15:17us in the New Testament that not everyone should rush in to
- 15:21trying to be a leader. You were going to be judged by a
- 15:25different standard, friends. We're going to be held to a
- 15:28higher standard, friends. And so that's what he's talking
- 15:32about here. And he's telling them to bring a
- 15:34goat, a male, without any spot, because God deserves our best.
- 15:3924 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and
- 15:42kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before
- 15:45the Lord. It is a sin offering. 25 And the
- 15:49priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his
- 15:52finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of the burnt
- 15:55offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the burnt
- 15:58offering. 26 And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, and
- 16:03the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings, and the priest
- 16:07shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it
- 16:12shall be forgiven him. So just as they did whenever
- 16:16they were having the communion is here, he's telling them that
- 16:21he's burning all the fat just like they did back then.
- 16:25And that is a sign that God is worthy of all of our best. 27 In
- 16:34if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he
- 16:40does somewhat against any of the commandments of the Lord
- 16:43concerning things which ought not to be done and be guilty.
- 16:48So this is just a common person. This isn't somebody in
- 16:52leadership 28 or if it's sin which he has sinned come to his
- 16:57knowledge, then he shall bring his offering a kid of the goats,
- 17:01a female without blemish for a sin which he has sinned.
- 17:04So notice here that God does not just require bulls, but he also
- 17:12will accept sheep and doesn't just require bulls and sheep,
- 17:16but he says a goat, but make sure that it's male.
- 17:19And then look at here, He will accept for the common person, a
- 17:24female, which shows that God doesn't really try to keep
- 17:33people away from himself. He will meet you where you're
- 17:40at. He will meet you and He will
- 17:42actually allow you to come near to Him no matter the amount of
- 17:48money that you earn in a year. God just wants the best.
- 17:52He wants the first. He wants you to acknowledge your
- 17:55need for Himself and He's going to continue to go down and He's
- 17:59going to continue to degrade what is required to come near to
- 18:03Him based upon if you are rich or if you are poor, if you're a
- 18:09leader or if you're a commoner and God just wants to meet you
- 18:13where you're at. That's what you need to
- 18:15understand is that God doesn't exclude anyone because He wants
- 18:21everyone to come unto the saving knowledge and to repent and to
- 18:25turn from sin and self and to actually worship Him in spirit
- 18:30and truth, and to be covered by the blood of the Lamb. 29 And he
- 18:42shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay
- 18:45the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering. 30 And the
- 18:50priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put
- 18:54it upon the horns of the altar of the burnt offerings, and
- 18:57shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the
- 19:00altar. 31 And he shall take away all the fat of it, as the fat is
- 19:05taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offering, and the
- 19:08priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto
- 19:13the Lord, and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and
- 19:17it shall be forgiven him. So imagine that, friends, this
- 19:20at one mint, friends, they can be at one with God.
- 19:25They can have peace with God. They can have the forgiveness of
- 19:29their sins. They can know that if they were
- 19:31to die, they're going to spend eternity in the presence of God
- 19:35Almighty. And isn't that amazing, friends?
- 19:38This isn't just hey, bless me, this isn't just, hey, forgive
- 19:42me. This is wanting and desiring
- 19:46fellowship with a holy God. And God is so powerful and he
- 19:49dwells in unapproachable light, friends.
- 19:52And we have to come to him covered in Jesus's blood so that
- 19:58he will see us as holy friends and set apart.
- 20:01And he won't see us as profane. He was.
- 20:04He won't see the sin in our life, friends.
- 20:07He will only see us. Completely at one with him. 32
- 20:15And if you bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it.
- 20:18He shall bring it a female without blemish.
- 20:21So he requires it to have no defect.
- 20:27He wants the best. 33 And he shall lay his hand up on the
- 20:31head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in
- 20:35the place where they killed the burnt offering. 34 And the
- 20:38priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his
- 20:41finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of the burnt
- 20:44offerings, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the
- 20:48bottom of the altar. We'll end on 35.
- 20:53And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the
- 20:57Lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace
- 21:00offerings. And the priest shall burn them
- 21:02upon the altar according to the offerings made by fire unto the
- 21:07Lord. And the priest shall make an
- 21:09atonement for his sin that he has committed, and he shall be
- 21:13forgiven him. So God wants to get level with
- 21:16the gravel. He wants you to know that He
- 21:19loves you and that He is for you.
- 21:21He's not against you. And He wants you to come to him
- 21:24on his basis. You don't get to make up your
- 21:27own rules of how you want to approach God, of how you want to
- 21:30worship God, of what you're comfortable with.
- 21:33You need to understand that God gives us from Genesis all the
- 21:38way to Revelation, He gives us the way that we should come.
- 21:41And it's only by the blood of the Lamb that was slain before
- 21:45the foundations of the earth. His name is Jesus Christ of
- 21:49Nazareth. And this is all pointing towards
- 21:51our desperate need to be covered.
- 21:54There's only one way unto the Father.
- 21:56No one comes unto the Father except through Jesus Christ.
- 22:00He's not one of many ways. He is the only way, friends.
- 22:03And we've got to come to God on His terms.
- 22:06And it is by being covered in Jesus's blood.
- 22:09I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 22:12Word. I know I sure have.
- 22:14I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 22:16I love you. We'll see you back here
- 22:18tomorrow. God bless you.
