- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, I had the opportunity to have a quick conversation with one of my spiritual heroes, who, by the way, because of this week of camp that we were at, had almost lost his voice.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: Now listen, as we discuss the importance of summer camp.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: We've been talking this week on the broadcast about why camp.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: Actually earlier in the week, part of message I preached here at this camp and had a wonderful time.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: But for you, you made the most of the decisions at camp as a young person.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe even as an adult, a pasture, and four years of ministry, it's for you to answer that question why camp.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: What comes to mind for you?
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, when you take young people out of their normal routine, take them out of their environment,
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: take them out of their comfort zone, put them in preaching multiple times a day, put them into a more rigorous schedule, sometimes in their used to, almost like football camp or even military, where they get ward on a little bit physically, the spiritual influence is there.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: You start to break down all of the strongholds and soften their hearts.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: So it becomes one of the most productive places for them.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Myself, firstly, first time I had ever gone to a camp.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: What for the wrong reasons, but it broke me down at three times a day.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'd never been anywhere.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're at preacher more than, you know, once twice a day.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm having three times a day, every day, preacher, plus devotions, plus studying the Bible for Bible quiz.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: All of that influence, plus you pulled me, you know, I played sports.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: That was a neighborhood guys I hung with about fifteen of us.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: Pull me away from all my friends, pull me away from TV, boom, put me in that situation and preach to me and get me the Bible.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I wanted to win points, so I memorized scripture for Bible quizzing, and God changed my heart.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: and now in a day when there's so many distractions that opportunity to pour ourselves away a little bit.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: And here at the end of the week, Krisha Finale on Massage Special Evolved did about where the soldiers, and just that question, we're in a battle arguing.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: And you and I have this opportunity, we're almost like recruiters to some degree.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: So large degree, we have an opportunity, we have this desire, we have a commission yesterday, it's the world, but you and I can't do that.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: And so we have to just like we're speaking to so many folks across to America and the world right now, get to hear from faithful listeners across to America and many other nations.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: Let me encourage you if you are not actively involved in the cause of a great commission, well then this would be an opportunity for you to get involved.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: You can order free gospel tracks from our ministry, but let me encourage you especially parents to send your young people to summer camp.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you don't know of a good
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe your church doesn't go, or I would love to recommend to you a good camp, pass from all to you and I. Your research described us having some good connections and some directions.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: And we have, we know folks across America, we're some good phenomenal, some casual Bible preaching.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think you have the ministry of Bible trust, all of Amy.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: In the forty years, he preached a Bill Rice Ranch.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Talk to us about the legacy that you see looking back and the hope it gives you going into the future.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I went to Bill Restridge with teenagers.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: I was a youth director back in eighty-one to eighty-seven.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I took teenagers every year to Bill Restridge and wrote Paul Levine Bridge and his stories about, you know, always telling girls to open up that person called on and saw the flashlight walk around and all these different things.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: But taking these teenagers there watching their lives transform was miraculous and then for years at Mount Salem and then Cedar River when I was out in Minnesota and then we're the grown start of the camp here coming round and we started with snow camps and so forth so
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: But the legacy, you know, all the way back from what I went to camp, the Mirror Quakers Youth Camp, and by the way, had the privilege of contacting the pastor, the priest, night I got right with God.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: I scheduled these in his way up in his eighties.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: Last time we talked to each other, I was fifteen.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm sixty four now he's coming to preach our missions conference next year and all that being said I said to him he said what are you doing we're yet I said brother is really great I said we're the creed I'm still preaching just like you food I'm still going as a matter of fact the summer I'll be going to these camps I told about it I said I am now you who have the tapes
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: You appreciate me when I was fifteen now I and you and guys like you know you were one of my players at football camp now you're one of the administrators you know and you were a coach and now he well that could be me he's gonna be doing the same thing so the legacy passes on
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, to the next generation, the land just asked me about my son if my son was going to be a football camp again.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize he picked up his boy last year here in the Butler talking to Kate.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: He was looking for a ride for him again.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was going to say, you know, he said, is your ball going to be a football camp?
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, oh, no.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: What did he, what did he do?
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: But known it.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so hopefully my son is taking on a legacy of his father.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: No, so.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I get upset.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: The sermon today, I was gripping about where the soldiers seemed like back in the seventies, all these, but you know what, there are some.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not as many as we'd like, but there are some to get a look around.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, man, pay attention to the amazing thing that you and I have been entrusted to with this opportunity.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mentioned this in Introducing You Tonight.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: There is this brief transitory period.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: There's brief transition where the elder generation passed the baton
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: younger generation and the desire of the previous generation is that there would be someone in their lane who would have passed baton two.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: We've got maybe six minutes, let five minutes.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: Would you give us, I'm asking you to still a fifty-five minute message into five minutes here, but talk to us about this, you start with Pearl Harbor.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: and how these these young men in the immediate aftermath, several seven, nineteen, forty-one, they were lined up wanting to go to federal country, tell the viewers, encourage them about this fall of where are the soldiers?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, when Paul talks to Timothy, both the first and second Divinity, he plays on this concept of being a soldier.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: And at Pearl Harbor, when Pearl Harbor was bombed in December, September, nineteen, forty-one, three in three months, the Marine Corps, just a Marine Corps doubled more than doubled in its enlistment.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: They were lining up because they loved their country and saw a need.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: And my concern is that Christians either don't see a need or don't feel the desire to line up to try to save their nation because we are under attack.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're under attack with all the immorality under attack from the liberals under attack from just crazy thinking.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: And my sermon was all about where are the soldiers?
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Why aren't we lining up to do exactly what God wants us to do?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, we had a lot of people line up to them.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people surrendered to preach a girl from our church.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: I know her parents are missionary, her advances rather.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: She's serrated to be missionary.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be so delighted when they call her tonight.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know how many of their work I'd like to know.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: But the hands had been thirty.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: hands for just that had people surrendering to go so morning in their church sign up in list sign up to be on bus routes sign up in list get involved right that's what it's amazing I mean excellent point you said there's a lot of Christians and there's some by list right now see a couple weeks ago we played a message by Paul the being probably one of the hardest hitting measures ever the hard to call the beam and the amount of people I heard saying we need more that preaching on the radio and so
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: We're making an application that may rub some of you the wrong way and I hope it does because if you throw a rock into a packet to August or one that helps and so I'll say this with the grace but also with the healthy helping of truth.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned that there are some soldiers they want to be in the reserves.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: What do you mean by that?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the reserves show up one weekend a month, two weeks out of the summer.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: We have a lot of people in our churches like that.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I really love the Lord.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: I love the Lord.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: And they show up once a month.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: If you if you love the Lord so much, maybe you can teach a sensual class in your church.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you darken the door more than once a week.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe just maybe you'd say someone else needs to know about what's going on at my local church and you'd go and invite some people.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you would use gospel tracks to do so.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: Really encourage you to get off the bench and get plugged into what God has for you to see that picture of those young men as you look at them and maybe it follows you watching on YouTube.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: We'll put that picture up on the screen there.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: But to see that picture, there's a sense of nostalgia, you know, black and white, all that type of stuff.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: But you think about, I wonder, one of the thoughts I came to mind is, how many of those boys didn't come home?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you have to keep this question.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: You said tonight, the ones that they look like a fourteen years old.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and no joke.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: They could have been lying about the rate.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: They were hit a bit.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: How old was your father?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: I down was seventeen.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: Seventeen joined the Marines.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: Why you had to get a permission to let Warforge do something like that?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: He took his brothers' verse to be.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because he didn't want to get his parents.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Because he was so adamant that he needed to get involved for the cause of his country.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I am an American.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm a mass of American flagging here.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: We love America.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: We're all of the dead.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: We're fine with that.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Can I tell you?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: You would be ashamed to me if I loved America more than I loved my God.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, encourage you.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're from another country, I hope you love your nation.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: All of them have awards, all of them have problems.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: But we all need, but I can tell you this, we serve a God that's perfect.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: And we have the opportunity to serve him.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: And we should do so with gusto.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: We should do so with Furver.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: And so I encourage you to get in line, get enlisted today.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: One last application here.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned while those guys are standing in line and this happened to your dad, they were placed at the needs of their service.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: Where they were put in your dad was a grumbalding G, that they filled up the infantry ranks before they got to the Gs and he ended up what as a
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was on a mortar crew and he was always upset.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: He won't even know what that was.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't know the mortar crews.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: He wanted to be in the infantry, want to be a foot soldier.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: And by the time they got to G's, because they had to land up alphabetically, that was already filled.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: But he told me, you didn't join the army, tell them what you wanted to do.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: You joined and they told you what they needed.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's very likely that there are people listening right now that God is working on your heart.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know exactly what you should be working at.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: I tell you it's really easy because I get to be the host of his Bible track that goes radio broadcast every single Christian should be carrying gospel tracks.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell you that God's people should be carrying gospel tracks and distribute them
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: freely.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is a man uses gospel tracks.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: This is a man, pastor, remodeling.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: Then courage is the use of gospel tracks has track stories.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Let me encourage you, friend, get in line.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: We've got about one minute and twenty seconds or so.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: In the last eighty seconds, it's give us a final charge about summer camper.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I was on your hard tour list.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know, we've talked about summer camp, but you know, this same kind of a thing can be recreated by parents and home with your children.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: This same thing can be recreated in youth groups and in churches.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: If we really get serious about realizing young people could take a lot more than what you think.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: I always say to these young people every year, I love preaching to teenagers and they've heard me many, many times.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll say, you know why?
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: And they haul her back because we can take it.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: What I like about young people is they like to hear the truth, they like to hear it straight up, and they like somebody that trusts them enough to tell it like it is straight out.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: We have soft soaked everything.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: We complain about a soft society.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Who made them that way?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: We made them that way because we have softened and dumbed down everything.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: So create that kind of environment.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Take your kids this summer and have a week at your home.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: No radio, no television, no electronic devices.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: We'll play good games every night.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: We'll read the Bible in the morning.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty together and read it noon at night.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's going to give a devotion three times a day and put them away from everything.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to go out with the kids and run on the table all day.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Pull them away for five days and see what it does.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard it said this as we conclude that there are so many parents.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_02]: that are so interested in giving their kids everything that they didn't have, that they forget to give them what they didn't have.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I'd encourage your friends, if you've got an ounce of spirituality, I think your heart might be burning right now about reaching the next generation.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe about getting a line yourself.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much for joining us for Bible Tract Eggers Pass Remote.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited as we continue for it.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: We're in day closer to the Lord's returning, and that means we need to reach one more soul.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: God bless, have a great day for his glory.
