- 0:00Speaker 1: We're back with Jim More on the Yukon Football Coaches
- 0:02Speaker 1: Show on Mike Crispino. Georgia State coming up the Panthers.
- 0:06Speaker 1: They're coming in on a four game losing sheet. They're
- 0:08Speaker 1: going to be trouble. You can you can expect if
- 0:10Speaker 1: they had a one loss, a one score loss to
- 0:13Speaker 1: app State, Appalachian State. Most recently, they have a win
- 0:15Speaker 1: against Vanderbilt. Jim, when you first start looking into a
- 0:19Speaker 1: team and what you're going to face, how much of
- 0:23Speaker 1: what their results were coming to play, Because I mean,
- 0:27Speaker 1: if you beat a Vanderbilt team that Alabama lost to,
- 0:31Speaker 1: you must have some talent in that Georgia State locker room.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I don't even look at the scores, and I don't
- 0:37Speaker 2: look at the record. We look at the film. And
- 0:39Speaker 2: that's how we determine who a team is is what
- 0:41Speaker 2: we see on film. And I see a really good
- 0:45Speaker 2: football team. And I see a quarterback you transferred in
- 0:48Speaker 2: from Georgia Tech that you know has has played really well.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I mean he's completing sixty eight percent of his passes,
- 0:54Speaker 2: he's got four touchdowns and no interceptions. He can run
- 0:57Speaker 2: the ball. I see, you know, two really good runs.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I see a good receiving corps. I see their tidy
- 1:02Speaker 2: end being their second leader receiver. I see an offensive
- 1:05Speaker 2: line with two returning starters that tackle, and a group
- 1:08Speaker 2: that inside that plays well together. On defense, you know,
- 1:11Speaker 2: I see a team that is really physical upfront, linebackers
- 1:16Speaker 2: that come downhill. I see a group, you know, in
- 1:19Speaker 2: the secondary that is ballhawks that gets after the ball.
- 1:23Speaker 3: That you know they have.
- 1:24Speaker 2: They get interceptions, they recover fumbles, they play hard as heck,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and you know they're they're a good football team. I
- 1:33Speaker 2: just think you you just take the record out of
- 1:36Speaker 2: the equation when you're preparing for an opponent because their
- 1:40Speaker 2: previous results do not have any impact on their potential
- 1:45Speaker 2: future success.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, they're a team that based in Atlanta. The Huskies
- 1:50Speaker 1: went there last year, lost thirty five to fourteen. I
- 1:54Speaker 1: think it was a final. This guy Kevin Swint, he
- 1:57Speaker 1: came from Clemson.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I was checking him.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Out and some some video and he wears number nine,
- 2:03Speaker 1: five and a half tackles for lost four sacks. I mean,
- 2:06Speaker 1: this guy looks like he might be a game wrecker.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You got to get you got to get him under
- 2:10Speaker 1: control somehow.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just a big, long guy.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I mean he's got he's got length, he's got power,
- 2:16Speaker 2: he's got speed. He runs well. When you watch him
- 2:21Speaker 2: on film, you just you know he does. He stands out,
- 2:23Speaker 2: he looks different, he looks you know, he looks like
- 2:26Speaker 2: a good football player, a really good football player. And uh,
- 2:30Speaker 2: you know, I'm just impressed with the way he's able
- 2:33Speaker 2: to move latterly.
- 2:36Speaker 3: You know, he's not I mean he's not a huge,
- 2:38Speaker 3: huge guy. Mean he's big, don't get me wrong.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You know, he's just six foot three plus two hundred
- 2:43Speaker 2: and forty five pounder. But he's got long arms, and
- 2:45Speaker 2: he can really engage and then disengage and use his leverage.
- 2:49Speaker 3: So really good football player.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yeah, here's gonna he's gonna be some trouble on Friday night.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And let's speaking about Friday night. How about a night game.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Let's get it under the lights because the rent is
- 3:01Speaker 1: A is a great stadium. You and I were talking
- 3:03Speaker 1: about it on the field before the game. I mean,
- 3:05Speaker 1: great grass field. I think the weather's gonna be really good.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I mean, if you're a football fan, I don't know,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I kind of like night games. I think it's fun
- 3:14Speaker 1: to go to as a fan because there's something different.
- 3:17Speaker 1: There's a little more electricity around a night game.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Totally agree. I mean, I love night games.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I don't like waiting around all day to play a
- 3:24Speaker 2: night game, but the environment at night is pretty special.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I love it being on a grass field. You know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: there'll be a little dew on the field, there's that smell.
- 3:39Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Game starts at seven, so in pregame warmups we'll see
- 3:44Speaker 2: that beautiful sunset and it's just you know, the lights
- 3:48Speaker 2: glistening off the helmets.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I just think it's I think it's really cool. It
- 3:52Speaker 2: almost it takes you kind of almost back to your
- 3:55Speaker 2: you know, Friday night high school games right right.
- 3:59Speaker 1: There's so many, so many of us have been part
- 4:01Speaker 1: of that over the years. As you kind get set
- 4:04Speaker 1: for this game Georgia State, you got one less day,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I would think to get prepared. How do you kind
- 4:11Speaker 1: of condense what you're trying to do here through the
- 4:15Speaker 1: week when you're not playing on a Saturday, you have
- 4:17Speaker 1: to play on a Friday night.
- 4:19Speaker 2: We're going to get the same amount of practices in.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You know, our guys work hard, they love to work hard.
- 4:26Speaker 2: We adjusted a little bit. We're not losing that much time. Really,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you know, it's a seven o'clock kickoff. It's just not
- 4:35Speaker 2: that big of a deal. I think the most important
- 4:37Speaker 2: thing is just making sure that you get the work
- 4:40Speaker 2: in you need to get work, and then the players
- 4:42Speaker 2: have enough discipline to you know, to recover, to make
- 4:45Speaker 2: sure that they're hydrating, they're refueling, making sure that they're
- 4:48Speaker 2: putting their phones aside at night and turn off the
- 4:50Speaker 2: TV of the computer and going to bed, and making
- 4:54Speaker 2: sure that they're getting in the cold plunge and doing
- 4:56Speaker 2: contrasts and getting the treatment that they need and they're
- 4:58Speaker 2: rolling out in the stretches and when and uh. The
- 5:02Speaker 2: thing for us is to make sure our final forty
- 5:04Speaker 2: eight hours is consistent, that we're always doing the same
- 5:06Speaker 2: thing in those last forty eight hours, and this schedule
- 5:09Speaker 2: that we have allows us to do that, and I
- 5:11Speaker 2: just think that helps with us mentally and emotionally getting
- 5:16Speaker 2: getting ourselves where we want to be in those two
- 5:18Speaker 2: areas to play a good football game.
- 5:20Speaker 1: A couple of minutes left with Jim more you come
- 5:23Speaker 1: football coach, Jilanie Stafford's going to be with us in
- 5:25Speaker 1: a couple of minutes, coach, and then Ballentin sent those
- 5:29Speaker 1: two guys, you know, they've been around now for a
- 5:33Speaker 1: couple of years, and Friday is going to be a
- 5:35Speaker 1: special night really, right, your final home game, that's that's
- 5:38Speaker 1: something you're never going to forget.
- 5:41Speaker 3: For those guys. I hope it's not my final home game,
- 5:44Speaker 3: but oh not.
- 5:45Speaker 4: You know, I think ob play perspective, right, It's going
- 5:50Speaker 4: to be different going out there, and you have something
- 5:52Speaker 4: to tell me, but no, I you know, I want
- 5:57Speaker 4: to honor those guys, but we have to win a game, right,
- 6:01Speaker 4: and so I address I did address it with him
- 6:03Speaker 4: on Sundays it's it's Senior Appreciation night.
- 6:07Speaker 2: But guys, we got we got work to do. You know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: we got work to do. And you can let your.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Mom or your dad or your grandma or whoever.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Let them get emotional, all right, You stay focused on
- 6:19Speaker 2: this thing and we'll get The players can get emotional
- 6:24Speaker 2: with the banquet if they want, but I don't want them.
- 6:26Speaker 2: You know, they need to stay focused. You know, this
- 6:29Speaker 2: is this is for the parents. And yeah, there'll be
- 6:32Speaker 2: some nostalgia.
- 6:33Speaker 4: You know.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I was talking to Toronte and he you know, he said, God,
- 6:35Speaker 2: I've played a lot of games here.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And this gonna be my last one.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, okay, good, great, but it's not your
- 6:40Speaker 2: last game, all right, and uh so I hope it
- 6:45Speaker 2: provides some maybe just a little extra focus and emotional response.
- 6:52Speaker 3: But you know, the important thing is we execute. We
- 6:55Speaker 3: got to.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Execute, and the Huskies will have Georgia State. Seven pm
- 7:01Speaker 1: Friday night is the kickoff. We'll be back with vl
- 7:04Speaker 1: Sen and we'll talk to Jilani Stafford as well. Thanks
- 7:07Speaker 1: to Jim Moore coach, best of luck on the weekend.
- 7:09Speaker 3: We appreciate you all right, nice talking to y'all.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Take care all right, back with more of the Yukon
