- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to a meeting of the minds crafted from decades
- 0:05Speaker 1: of talk show experience, an extension of the magic they've
- 0:08Speaker 1: created together on radio in the phenomenon called M and
- 0:13Speaker 1: M Hot Topics in the News and Wisdom from Life.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's Mark Davis and Mike Gallagher. This is eminem extra.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It is with great fanfare and a big open heart
- 0:27Speaker 2: that we welcome him back literally an openert. Now, look,
- 0:31Speaker 2: I don't know, it's not. It's three days, so it's not.
- 0:33Speaker 2: That's just a normal vacation in Mark Davis world. I mean,
- 0:37Speaker 2: you kidding me. But in this case it was a
- 0:39Speaker 2: little bit different. It was a medical issue. And I
- 0:42Speaker 2: teased yesterday on the podcast that when you come back
- 0:46Speaker 2: today you'll understand where you were. You'll you'll explain. Now, look,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I got no control editorial over what you say or do,
- 0:54Speaker 2: but can we not do nine hours on the procedure
- 0:57Speaker 2: itself like you did this morning on your show.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Thank you. I did that. I gave people a completely detailed,
- 1:03Speaker 3: granular walk through this, and folks seemed to enjoy it.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Because there are some folks who might be up for
- 1:10Speaker 3: a heart catheterization, which is what I had done on Monday.
- 1:13Speaker 3: It all started with my Biascan of Los Colinas calcification
- 1:16Speaker 3: score being sufficiently high that they said, well, let's do
- 1:20Speaker 3: a ct angiogram. And then they did that, and my
- 1:22Speaker 3: cardiologists looked at that and said, oh, okay, maybe you
- 1:25Speaker 3: want to look specifically at the left anterior descending artery.
- 1:28Speaker 3: The widow Maker love that name, and so they did that.
- 1:31Speaker 3: In the great news was it was fine. I'm going
- 1:34Speaker 3: to continue to drop some pounds and do some things
- 1:36Speaker 3: and make some good lifestyle choices, and I should be
- 1:38Speaker 3: absolutely fine. But the curiosity they had about a particular
- 1:42Speaker 3: blockage in a particular place was not the case. And
- 1:46Speaker 3: that something about that catheterization where they send that wire
- 1:49Speaker 3: in through your arm, that's what I get this thing
- 1:51Speaker 3: on here for. I'm still not supposed to move my
- 1:52Speaker 3: wrist very much. It's about another day. He doesn't. It
- 1:56Speaker 3: does not. It was very tender for a couple of
- 1:58Speaker 3: days because they gotta, you know, you know, drive that
- 2:02Speaker 3: thing into your we go the soft sound effects. He's
- 2:06Speaker 3: gotta do this sound. I love that.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Do you remember the comedian years ago who used to
- 2:12Speaker 2: do that? I used to do a sound effect with
- 2:14Speaker 2: his mouth. Who was that guy?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Well, there there were a number of folks who had
- 2:18Speaker 3: just were almost everything they did was kind of yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 3: you know that that kind of stuff. Well, are you
- 2:23Speaker 3: thinking of Spike Jones, No, who did a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 3: old bits.
- 2:28Speaker 2: He was like the Don Rickles, kind of the roasts.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I don't know. There was a guy though, when I
- 2:33Speaker 2: was a kid, and he would do all these funny
- 2:36Speaker 2: sound effects. You were describing the procedure this morning on
- 2:40Speaker 2: your talk show in great detail, and as you described it,
- 2:44Speaker 2: you would say, well, now when the when the tube
- 2:46Speaker 2: goes into your oc make you always make all these
- 2:49Speaker 2: noise noises. And it's just.
- 2:53Speaker 3: A guy named Wes Harrison. I've never heard of him.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Michael Michael Winslow is the guy who is in the
- 2:59Speaker 3: police account any movies you can do like helicopters, And
- 3:03Speaker 3: I think it's him.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I think like And when I mentioned you earlier, Mark
- 3:07Speaker 2: people said that, and I said that, He said, who
- 3:09Speaker 2: else does that? Mark does this thing where he's describing
- 3:12Speaker 2: and you do this with everything You'll talk about very much. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 2: you'd make these little noises. It's just why we love
- 3:17Speaker 2: you. You're endearing and and even going on for seven hours
- 3:21Speaker 2: and thirty seven minutes so exactly. Our feature entailed, we
- 3:23Speaker 2: love that about you.
- 3:25Speaker 3: And that's funny because you heard the beginning, but I
- 3:28Speaker 3: don't know if you heard the time that I devoted
- 3:30Speaker 3: to it, and then I didn't hear.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I know this, listen podcast, folks. This was a two
- 3:35Speaker 2: part conversation on the mark most.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Certainly was and I'll tell you one thing, and this
- 3:40Speaker 3: was the thing that I thought was going to be
- 3:42Speaker 3: podcast only, but I decided, what the heck, And that's
- 3:46Speaker 3: the prep process now going into this thing. When you're
- 3:48Speaker 3: going to do a heart catheterization, they got to get
- 3:50Speaker 3: to your heart one way or the other. The arm
- 3:52Speaker 3: of the wrist, of the radial route is what they
- 3:55Speaker 3: usually do, as opposed to what I thought was certainly
- 3:58Speaker 3: a possibility, and is of course through the groin, okay,
- 4:02Speaker 3: which I did. Nobody wants to do that. I didn't
- 4:05Speaker 3: want to do that. There so many that time for
- 4:07Speaker 3: that eight o'clock arrival for a nine thirty procedure. I'm
- 4:10Speaker 3: in there, Lisa's, you know, getting some stuff ready, and
- 4:12Speaker 3: before she they bring her back, they say, okay, you
- 4:15Speaker 3: did they tell you about the prep? I said, well,
- 4:17Speaker 3: I'm prap. I mean I've been prepared for everything. I
- 4:19Speaker 3: feel very prepared. But what do you mean, Well, we're
- 4:21Speaker 3: going to shave your arm, you know where the thing
- 4:23Speaker 3: goes in. And thought, that's great. I much appreciate that.
- 4:25Speaker 3: And then we're gonna say and then we're gonna shave
- 4:27Speaker 3: your groin. I said, I beg your pardon, but it's
- 4:32Speaker 3: my understanding. This was wrist orient He said, oh, absolutely,
- 4:36Speaker 3: that's plan A. That's what we always try to do,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and that's like ninety five percent of the time. But
- 4:40Speaker 3: if something doesn't work in the wrist, we're going downtown.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So I'm getting a full SPA treatment. There we go.
- 4:49Speaker 3: It's like it's like all right, all right, so you
- 4:53Speaker 3: know I am speed already.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And now look, did you say that on the nine
- 4:59Speaker 2: o'clock hour on your yes? Sure, because this is definitely
- 5:03Speaker 2: PG thirteen because some people would say we didn't really
- 5:07Speaker 2: need to hear.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Or talking about that. People thinking about my nads on
- 5:10Speaker 3: the radio every morning, so you're thinking about it. So
- 5:14Speaker 3: I'm thinking, everybody, thank you, thank you.
- 5:19Speaker 2: We were all praying for you. Incidentally, uh, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: me fixated on the on the live chat on YouTube
- 5:25Speaker 2: our YouTube channel, and a ton of people are back
- 5:27Speaker 2: because they wanted they wanted to anticipate your return. Scott
- 5:31Speaker 2: reminded us who it was. I was thinking of, Charlie Callous.
- 5:36Speaker 2: That's who of course with nose.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yes, great, Charlie Callous as.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Absolutely that's who I think of. So listen, before we
- 5:46Speaker 2: continue with Boomer Radio and do more on our medical procedures,
- 5:50Speaker 2: you can't bury the lead. So a quick backstory, and
- 5:54Speaker 2: and I tied it into God giving us the tools
- 5:58Speaker 2: to look out for each other and to look out ourselves.
- 6:01Speaker 2: After Lindsay unexpectedly died of an aortic rupture that was
- 6:04Speaker 2: apparently brought on by an arterial you know, you know, Arteriller,
- 6:09Speaker 2: what it is, arterial sclerosis, which is hardening to the arteries,
- 6:13Speaker 2: which is what you we want to hear you're dealing
- 6:14Speaker 2: with and I might be dealing with. I went out
- 6:16Speaker 2: and got a scan too, because you've got via scan
- 6:19Speaker 2: of Las caalinus in uh in the in the Dallas,
- 6:22Speaker 2: Texas area. Here in the Tampa Bay area, we have
- 6:25Speaker 2: a place called Craft Body Scan. I went over to
- 6:28Speaker 2: Craft Body Scan and because and then when you were
- 6:31Speaker 2: going through all this, I thought, good, I'm glad we're
- 6:32Speaker 2: both doing this we're on top of it. We're gonna
- 6:35Speaker 2: we're gonna find out. Well, I got my report back
- 6:38Speaker 2: this morning, and I haven't had a doctor review it yet,
- 6:42Speaker 2: but it was online, so I'm reading it and it
- 6:45Speaker 2: kind of gave me the the the the the summary,
- 6:49Speaker 2: the overall summary of my heart lung scan was good.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And then on the calcium score, which is pretty crucial.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I think my calcium score, My overall calcium score is
- 7:00Speaker 2: an eighty four, which chat GPT says isn't normal, but
- 7:05Speaker 2: it's mild and you want to keep an eye on it.
- 7:08Speaker 2: And they say, the score in the chart here, your
- 7:11Speaker 2: calcium score one to one hundred means I have a
- 7:14Speaker 2: mild plaque burden. And like you, it looks like the
- 7:18Speaker 2: bigger number and I don't even know how to really
- 7:20Speaker 2: really analyze this or dissect it. But the big number
- 7:25Speaker 2: is the left anterior descending, which you said is the
- 7:29Speaker 2: widow maker. Well that's the higher number I've got, which
- 7:32Speaker 2: is fifty five, which is still minimal plaque, but there's
- 7:35Speaker 2: plaque there. The left main artery is twenty one. Then
- 7:39Speaker 2: the left circumflex whatever that is, is an eight, and
- 7:42Speaker 2: then everything else is a zero. Looks like my right
- 7:44Speaker 2: side's perfect, my left side we got to be worried
- 7:46Speaker 2: about the left is it? And the total calcium score
- 7:50Speaker 2: is eighty four? So I asked you what's your total
- 7:54Speaker 2: calcium score? And Intermark Davis, you still don't know.
- 7:57Speaker 3: No, I do.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Now because I'm after you badgered me and berated me
- 8:01Speaker 2: for not I've been waiting all damn day for you
- 8:05Speaker 2: to tell me not nervous now and now here's the reveal.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And I'm going to lead up to that reveal with
- 8:10Speaker 3: an interesting text you sent me this morning. I think
- 8:14Speaker 3: during the show you said that you just spoke to
- 8:17Speaker 3: somebody on your text line who had a pretty I
- 8:21Speaker 3: mean lowis sort of like yours calcification, but wound up
- 8:27Speaker 3: needing had a massive blockage. Right. You want to know why? Why?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Because the texture claimed I didn't tell you the whole text.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I didn't just share all this with you. They claim there.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I guess there's two kinds of plaque. Is there's soft.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Plac I had doctor Duncan on the show this If
- 8:46Speaker 3: everybody go to six sixty AMI Answer dot Com podcast
- 8:49Speaker 3: nine o'clock hour, you get my full blow by blow
- 8:52Speaker 3: of the prep and everything else and a quick chat
- 8:54Speaker 3: with doctor Duncan's question, I said, list, I've been telling
- 8:56Speaker 3: everybody about this, how can there be a bit of
- 8:58Speaker 3: a divergence between what your calcification score might be and
- 9:02Speaker 3: the actual blockage you have? Because I'm the inverse. I'm
- 9:05Speaker 3: the inverse of that guy. He had a pretty okay
- 9:08Speaker 3: calcification score and a big old blockage. I had only
- 9:12Speaker 3: a twenty or thirty percent stenosis. Seventy is when they
- 9:15Speaker 3: put a stint in and you want to know what my.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Score was because your calcium score, Yeah, yours what eighty four?
- 9:22Speaker 3: This guy's seventy two? Know what mine was? Two hundred
- 9:24Speaker 3: and eighty five. Now you know they go into the
- 9:27Speaker 3: four hundreds, they go deep into the four I mean,
- 9:29Speaker 3: you know, it could be crazy. But so I've got
- 9:32Speaker 3: like an overall circulatory efficiency issue that can be helped
- 9:38Speaker 3: with diet, exercise, lifestyle stuff. But that's the kind of
- 9:41Speaker 3: thing that made them want to go in and look
- 9:43Speaker 3: and see is there something that's really blocking stuff in
- 9:45Speaker 3: a particular place. And for me, that answer was thankfully no.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So that's thank God, thank God, And that's and look,
- 9:53Speaker 2: look this sounds so selfish of me, but I was
- 9:56Speaker 2: as worried as I am. And look, I'm worried because
- 10:00Speaker 2: I am the biggest, fattest, stupidest baby hypochondriac on the planet.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I mean when you say you don't hurt, and I
- 10:07Speaker 2: got that. I can see that brace you got on
- 10:09Speaker 2: your hand. Look, i'd be in the emergency room. I'd
- 10:12Speaker 2: be getting treated right now for the wound on my hand.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I'd call it. I'd say that what that needle is
- 10:19Speaker 2: the equivalent of a gunshot wound to the hand, and
- 10:22Speaker 2: I'd want the er to treat that for me. So
- 10:25Speaker 2: I am a big baby. So I'm a little bit
- 10:26Speaker 2: nervous about eighty four. And I was, you know, between
- 10:29Speaker 2: you and me, I was kind of hoping, since you've
- 10:31Speaker 2: already had the clear all clear now and they know
- 10:33Speaker 2: what was in there when they it's kind of hoping
- 10:35Speaker 2: your number was higher.
- 10:36Speaker 3: That Well, there I live to serve.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 3: So there you are.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and you've got it. Looks like according to
- 10:43Speaker 2: my chart that I got from the Craft body scan, folks,
- 10:48Speaker 2: one oh one to four hundred means moderate plaque burden.
- 10:53Speaker 2: So you're not an extensive because you're right, more than
- 10:55Speaker 2: four o one that's extensive, But you're moderate and I'm
- 10:59Speaker 2: my em and m there we go, bingo new sponsor.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Now here's the weird psychology of this.
- 11:08Speaker 3: As I was having this hanging over my head about
- 11:10Speaker 3: the passa and this technology, Lord knows I riffed on
- 11:13Speaker 3: this forever too. I'm just it's a miracle that this
- 11:16Speaker 3: doctor hovered over a massive X ray screen and there's
- 11:20Speaker 3: snaking a wire through me and up my arm and
- 11:22Speaker 3: across my classical and down into my heart itself, looking
- 11:26Speaker 3: all the while for impediments and blockages and snow seas
- 11:30Speaker 3: as they're called. And if they found something, they could
- 11:33Speaker 3: have done a stint right then and there. And so
- 11:36Speaker 3: as I'm talking Elsa on the way and as like,
- 11:37Speaker 3: what exactly, Because very seriously, what you pray for is
- 11:41Speaker 3: the best result possible. Lord, let the guide the doctor's hands,
- 11:45Speaker 3: Let this all work out well, Let the news be
- 11:47Speaker 3: as good as it can be. We ultimately said, God,
- 11:49Speaker 3: whatever the best result is, we leave that to you.
- 11:52Speaker 3: But just purely self servingly, did I want the stint
- 11:56Speaker 3: If it's fifty to fifty and we could either do
- 11:59Speaker 3: it or not do it. There's a literal part of
- 12:00Speaker 3: me that said, put that bad boy in because I
- 12:03Speaker 3: really like steak.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Well, I mean, what part of it don't What do
- 12:06Speaker 2: you mean why wouldn't you put it in? If they're
- 12:08Speaker 2: already in there and that's pretty easy to put it
- 12:11Speaker 2: in while they're in there?
- 12:12Speaker 3: What is that? If it's seventy percent, it's like, we
- 12:14Speaker 3: got to do this. I'm sure there's a range of
- 12:17Speaker 3: judgment call for the doctor. Mine was so so refreshingly
- 12:22Speaker 3: unblocked that it was a no brainer not to do it.
- 12:25Speaker 3: If it was seventy eighty percent, it's a no brainer
- 12:27Speaker 3: to do it. If it's in that middle ground where
- 12:30Speaker 3: we could either do a stint or not. I'm literally
- 12:33Speaker 3: not totally kidding. I would have thought, knock yourself out,
- 12:36Speaker 3: go ahead and do it because I like burgers.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Oh, I was just saying I'd go for it all
- 12:41Speaker 2: all the way. And can I just say, yeah, put in,
- 12:45Speaker 2: I'd be getting stents just preventatively. Just go ahead and
- 12:47Speaker 2: put him in, knock them out, go on in, get
- 12:50Speaker 2: put in about four and I'll be I'll feel I'll
- 12:52Speaker 2: be feeling better. What did I do medically a couple
- 12:56Speaker 2: of years ago that was so stupid and it was
- 12:58Speaker 2: just a preventive There was some thing I took. I
- 13:01Speaker 2: was some stupid I don't I think it was just
- 13:03Speaker 2: a prescription. Anyway, I don't want to get look where
- 13:05Speaker 2: we we we've I will say this though, I'm going
- 13:08Speaker 2: to I'm going to start to urge you as we
- 13:11Speaker 2: all get in our into our golden years here in
- 13:15Speaker 2: our fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, aches and pains of life
- 13:20Speaker 2: are just a matter, just a reality, and I want
- 13:25Speaker 2: to urge you to do something. I've been talking about
- 13:28Speaker 2: Relief Factor for a long time on my show, and
- 13:31Speaker 2: I have shared the wonders of this incredible, one hundred
- 13:35Speaker 2: percent drug free product. It happens to be somebody something
- 13:38Speaker 2: I believe in deeply because I get out of pain
- 13:42Speaker 2: with Relief Factor. I had a hips or I had
- 13:44Speaker 2: a hip replacement, like fourteen fifteen years ago. I always
- 13:47Speaker 2: had a little spot. Remember that. I always had a
- 13:48Speaker 2: little spot on my lower back, a little bit of pain,
- 13:51Speaker 2: nothing bad, you know, but it annoyed me. And then
- 13:53Speaker 2: I learned about Relief Factor, started taking it, and like
- 13:56Speaker 2: that guy on the TV commercial, you see that guy, honey,
- 14:00Speaker 2: pain is gone. Well mine is gone. And if I
- 14:03Speaker 2: forget to take it, it comes back, and it's an easy,
- 14:06Speaker 2: easy order. I'll give you the number and the phone
- 14:08Speaker 2: number just a moment, But can I put you on
- 14:10Speaker 2: the spot here on the eminem extra the day of
- 14:13Speaker 2: your return on this Thursday. Put it in the calendar
- 14:16Speaker 2: and look answer any way you want. But would you
- 14:18Speaker 2: consider taking relief factor mark as your friend and as
- 14:22Speaker 2: your colleague, and as somebody who's going to tell you
- 14:25Speaker 2: that it very well could work and just life for you.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Would you mention sure, how timely this is? There's something
- 14:31Speaker 3: is this is really pretty wild because all my stuff
- 14:33Speaker 3: from my procedure is going to be irrelevant in a day.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I mean, this thing will be gone. It's fine, But
- 14:38Speaker 3: there there has been for for a little bit in me.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And once again Boomer's talking about their conditions. I've got
- 14:43Speaker 3: a little a rotator cuff thing. And because we get
- 14:46Speaker 3: out in the backyard we throw tennis balls to the
- 14:47Speaker 3: dogs and you know, you know, completing completing my tom
- 14:51Speaker 3: sever rotation old baseball reference, there's a little bit of
- 14:54Speaker 3: a catch in there. And sometimes yes, sometimes no, And
- 14:57Speaker 3: it's one of the it seems like right in the
- 14:59Speaker 3: release factor sweet spot, not something that's so terrible. I
- 15:03Speaker 3: need to go to the orthopedist and get it operated
- 15:04Speaker 3: on right now. But just something nagging that I really
- 15:07Speaker 3: wish wasn't bugging me. Heck, yes, I'll do it, and
- 15:11Speaker 3: let's just sort of see all good. So these good
- 15:14Speaker 3: people will slide me a little something in the in
- 15:17Speaker 3: the mad I can make a call those bad boys
- 15:19Speaker 3: of media. I know people.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I can make a call, and I'm going to get
- 15:22Speaker 2: you some Relief Factor to your doorstep, and thank you
- 15:25Speaker 2: for being open to that. I want you to try
- 15:27Speaker 2: it and we'll talk a little bit about the experience together.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And if you want to order a Relief Factor, the
- 15:31Speaker 2: three week Quick Start just seventeen dollars and seventy six cents.

- 15:50Speaker 2: then where do you want to start? My friend, you've
- 15:52Speaker 2: been gone for a few days. You missed a little
- 15:54Speaker 2: bit of the news. I heard you asking about Darlene Graham.
- 15:58Speaker 2: We talked a little bit about this morning on the
- 15:59Speaker 2: ex Let's talk some headlines and things that are making news,
- 16:03Speaker 2: and I'll bounce one off.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Of you, but you go first. I was particularly interested
- 16:07Speaker 3: in view of the depth of your South Carolina experience,
- 16:09Speaker 3: and I think we're speaking with the same voice here
- 16:12Speaker 3: in terms of numerous things that are true at the
- 16:14Speaker 3: same time. Here we go. We love and miss Lindsey Graham.
- 16:17Speaker 3: We appreciated him after some years where there had been
- 16:21Speaker 3: what I called good Lindsay and bad Lindsay. It was
- 16:23Speaker 3: much more good than bad. His border softy years appeared
- 16:27Speaker 3: to be done. He really does like military involvement around
- 16:31Speaker 3: the world, maybe a little more than I do, a
- 16:32Speaker 3: little more than Trump does. But he was a wonderful
- 16:35Speaker 3: and loyal Trump Ally. We want that in his successor
- 16:39Speaker 3: as Sister Darlene incredible story, wonderful woman, gracious woman, prepared
- 16:43Speaker 3: to love her, my heart is open to her, and etcetera, etc. However,
- 16:48Speaker 3: that ain't what any of this is about. What we
- 16:50Speaker 3: need is Lindsay Graham's successor as a staunch, reliable conservative,
- 16:54Speaker 3: and Mike, I don't know if she is one. I
- 16:56Speaker 3: don't know that she's not, but with a complete goose
- 16:59Speaker 3: egg of real elected not that everybody needs elected experience. Heck,
- 17:03Speaker 3: Trump didn't have elected experience, but he'd been in the
- 17:06Speaker 3: public eye for decades. He was a known quantity and
- 17:10Speaker 3: she's just not. And with Ralph Norman and the other congressman,
- 17:15Speaker 3: mister mister Frye, Russell Frye, don't we have two folks
- 17:18Speaker 3: with real track records who might be a better bet
- 17:21Speaker 3: for a conservative senator?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Well, you've got a couple of real, real uh strong
- 17:26Speaker 2: conservative and Mark Lynch whom you mentioned. Also Ralph Norman
- 17:29Speaker 2: and Mark Lynch. Of course you got Pam Evatt. I
- 17:32Speaker 2: don't know if she's she hasn't really said if she's
- 17:35Speaker 2: going to throw her hat in the ring. You've got,
- 17:38Speaker 2: you got this, Russell Frye. You got remember uh uh
- 17:44Speaker 2: the former former governor Mark Sandford controversial, I mean he
- 17:49Speaker 2: went out in disgrace. Can I tell you Mark Sandford
- 17:52Speaker 2: story that you're gonna love? You'll appreciate this.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Tell tell everybody the Mark Tell he give you everybody
- 17:57Speaker 3: the sixty seconds of Mark Sandford, isn't it?
- 17:59Speaker 1: So?
- 17:59Speaker 2: He was a South Carolina politician. I'm pretty sure he
- 18:02Speaker 2: was a congressman won the governor's race. Was the governor.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I think he ran for Congress, if I'm not mistaken
- 18:09Speaker 2: again after he left the office in disgrace. But he
- 18:11Speaker 2: left the office in disgrace because he was having an
- 18:13Speaker 2: affair and he took his mistress. I forget this. She
- 18:19Speaker 2: was either from Argentina and they were hiking the Appalachian
- 18:22Speaker 2: Trail she or she was from Appalachia and they went
- 18:25Speaker 2: and went to the Argentina trail trail.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I think walking the Appalachian Trail was an odd type
- 18:31Speaker 3: of slang. I seem to remember the staff he vanished.
- 18:34Speaker 3: He just vanished a middle of these controversies and lascivious things.
- 18:39Speaker 3: And the word came from the from the The reason
- 18:41Speaker 3: he was hard to reach was that he was hiking
- 18:44Speaker 3: the Appalachian Trail. I guess that's what bulliant now with
- 18:47Speaker 3: the with the mistress. And I don't think that and
- 18:50Speaker 3: I don't think that's code. I don't think that meant.
- 18:52Speaker 2: And he was actually hiking the Appalachian Trail with the
- 18:55Speaker 2: mistress from Argentina. So that became kind of a punchline
- 19:00Speaker 2: and everybody was joking about.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I just thought, hey, man, where's Billy. I don't know.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I think he's hiking the old apple Achian.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Tray rock you know, yeah, here's the thumping upstairs, you dud,
- 19:10Speaker 2: don't come knocking if the van is rocking, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 2: I'm hiking the applection. Well, anyway, let me tell you
- 19:17Speaker 2: why I happened to really like Mark Sandford despite his
- 19:21Speaker 2: personal indiscretions and all of that. And you know, look
- 19:24Speaker 2: when he was in office before the scandal, pretty pretty
- 19:27Speaker 2: popular politicians in South Carolina, rock solid conservative, good guy.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I remember Joey and I Joey Hudson and I once
- 19:34Speaker 2: went to the to his office in the in the
- 19:36Speaker 2: Governor's office there at the Statehouse in Columbia and interviewed
- 19:40Speaker 2: him and spent some time with him. So he's an
- 19:41Speaker 2: interesting guy. This scandal hits the fan, he drops out
- 19:45Speaker 2: of public site, he leaves in disgrace. All that one
- 19:48Speaker 2: day my phone rings I was living in I remember
- 19:50Speaker 2: I was exactly where I got the call. I was
- 19:52Speaker 2: in my kitchen in Keller, Texas, when I was still
- 19:55Speaker 2: living in the in the Metroplex ring ring. It was
- 19:58Speaker 2: Mark Sandford and I Holy cow, because this was all
- 20:02Speaker 2: right post scandal, and it all hit the fan and
- 20:07Speaker 2: it was bad and it was rough, and Mark Sandford
- 20:09Speaker 2: was on the phone, and I had interviewed him and
- 20:11Speaker 2: new him, you know, not very I mean, I didn't
- 20:13Speaker 2: know him like Frankly, I knew Lindsey better than I
- 20:15Speaker 2: knew Mark Sandford. But nonetheless, Mark Sandford said, Mike, this
- 20:20Speaker 2: is Mark Sandford. I know you've been following all of
- 20:23Speaker 2: my controversies and all of my problems. I just want
- 20:27Speaker 2: to say something to you. You supported me as a broadcaster,
- 20:32Speaker 2: he said. I screwed up badly. I made incredible mistakes
- 20:37Speaker 2: in my personal and in my public life. I let
- 20:40Speaker 2: the people of South Carolina down, and I will take
- 20:43Speaker 2: that to the grave. I'll always remember that. But I
- 20:46Speaker 2: also let down writers and broadcasters and radio hosts and
- 20:51Speaker 2: pundits and the like who supported me. I let you down, too,
- 20:56Speaker 2: because you stuck your neck out for me, and I
- 21:00Speaker 2: kind of embarrass you. And I am ashamed of that,
- 21:03Speaker 2: and I am profoundly sorry for that. And I just
- 21:07Speaker 2: wanted you to know that because I've always been grateful
- 21:11Speaker 2: for the support I got from people like you, and
- 21:14Speaker 2: I just want you to know how devastated I am
- 21:17Speaker 2: that I let you down, Mark Davis, I will never
- 21:20Speaker 2: forget that call for the rest of my life. Well,
- 21:22Speaker 2: I can imagine not because how often does that happen?
- 21:25Speaker 2: How often you get real contrition express to anybody, much
- 21:28Speaker 2: less a downlaw. I mean, because imagine he had a
- 21:31Speaker 2: list of people to atone for and to apologize to
- 21:35Speaker 2: that Listen, I'm sorry.
- 21:37Speaker 3: That speaks volumes. I am moving by that.
- 21:40Speaker 2: It does, and I've shared that story before. I'm sure
- 21:43Speaker 2: I'll share it again if he's in the race. I mean,
- 21:45Speaker 2: I don't know that he has a chance. Who knows,
- 21:47Speaker 2: but nonetheless.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Forgiving it, how forgiving a country are we? I mean,
- 21:51Speaker 3: there are people who have done way worse. Wait when
- 21:53Speaker 3: I don't know at worse, don't play? Can you top this?
- 21:55Speaker 3: There are people with worse scan worse scandals, you know,
- 22:00Speaker 3: more recently, you know, who are well and fine.
- 22:03Speaker 2: And it was just so moving to me because he
- 22:05Speaker 2: acknowledged it all. When he was talking to me, he said, look,
- 22:08Speaker 2: I've let my family down, I've embarrassed my kids, my wife.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I mean, it was like and it was not fake,
- 22:14Speaker 2: it was you know. I mean, I don't know. Maybe
- 22:16Speaker 2: he's a great actor, but if he is, give him
- 22:18Speaker 2: an Academy award because he was very convincing to me,
- 22:21Speaker 2: it was it was very it seemed very heartfelt. He
- 22:24Speaker 2: didn't have to call me, and he did. And I
- 22:27Speaker 2: will never ever forget that. And to your point, Mark,
- 22:30Speaker 2: when's the last time you heard a politician ever doing that?
- 22:34Speaker 2: And they just don't do it. It's always the And
- 22:36Speaker 2: I know if I offended anybody, I'm sorry if you
- 22:39Speaker 2: were bothered by this, I am sorry.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Exactly stupid. And I know this speaks directly to you
- 22:45Speaker 3: and to me because of what we do for a living.
- 22:47Speaker 3: And I don't and I know there are people watching
- 22:49Speaker 3: and listening going, you know, like like people who lived
- 22:50Speaker 3: in South Carolina who are burger flippers or accountants going.
- 22:53Speaker 3: He didn't call me, but there I appreciate, just personally
- 22:57Speaker 3: and professionally, because we do go on a limb for
- 23:00Speaker 3: people if they if we support you, we we're going
- 23:03Speaker 3: to be loyal most of the time. I would you
- 23:05Speaker 3: think our profession would decide to back people whom we
- 23:08Speaker 3: wish to back, oppose people whom we wish to oppose, right,
- 23:11Speaker 3: And if we really do go out on a limb
- 23:13Speaker 3: for somebody and then they turn out to make a terrible,
- 23:17Speaker 3: terrible stumble for him to get on the phone to
- 23:20Speaker 3: you and say, look, you you really stuck it out
- 23:23Speaker 3: for me. And I'm sorry. I I don't know that
- 23:27Speaker 3: that's that's that's that's not nothing. That's that's not nothing.
- 23:30Speaker 3: It was something, and it's something meaningful that I'll never forget.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Let's let me change gears a little bit. I went
- 23:37Speaker 3: on a you know, like you do. And we all,
- 23:39Speaker 3: all of us big mouth talk show hosts, we often
- 23:41Speaker 3: do this. We take we go on a tear and
- 23:42Speaker 3: then we go down a rabbit hole with our audience.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I went down the Mitch McConnell rabbit hole today. I'm
- 23:48Speaker 3: about I'm about fed up with what's going on with
- 23:51Speaker 3: Mitch McConnell. And I got mad when I saw a
- 23:54Speaker 3: little TV clip last night of Mitch McConnell's top aid.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I think it's just chea of staff stopped walking down
- 24:02Speaker 3: a hall, wouldn't say anything about his condition, about where
- 24:07Speaker 3: he is, what state he is in. Mark Enough is
- 24:11Speaker 3: enough already, this is crazy. How many days has it
- 24:15Speaker 3: been now? Is the poor guy still in the hospital?
- 24:19Speaker 3: Do constituents of his and American citizens have a right
- 24:24Speaker 3: to know for crying out loud. Is the guy a vegetable?
- 24:28Speaker 3: Is he in a coma? Is he attached to? I mean, Mark,
- 24:32Speaker 3: what the actual hell exactly? And the people of Kentucky
- 24:35Speaker 3: have the greatest stake in this. It's their business more
- 24:38Speaker 3: than it is any of ours. But it is everybody's business.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I remember I was talking about this and where the
- 24:42Speaker 3: heck is he? And the weird proof of life photograph?
- 24:45Speaker 3: And you know how real is that? I guess it's real.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I don't know. Somebody said, you're not from so Tucky?
- 24:50Speaker 3: What business is it of yours? Is the most powerful
- 24:53Speaker 3: one of the most powerful politicians in the country. Hear,
- 24:56Speaker 3: it is everybody's business. And so Democrat Governor of Kentucky,
- 25:00Speaker 3: Andy Basheer, is like putting out some pressure. It's like, listen,
- 25:06Speaker 3: one of two things needs to happen. Mitch McConnelly. I
- 25:09Speaker 3: neither need to have a conversation with Mitch McConnell or
- 25:12Speaker 3: I need his resignation letter.
- 25:14Speaker 2: He's not wrong, yeah, but you know why he's saying that, Mark,
- 25:17Speaker 2: And I got this pointed out to me, and I'm
- 25:19Speaker 2: not as I'm not as well versed on the Kentucky
- 25:22Speaker 2: procedural where they are in the electoral process. But I
- 25:27Speaker 2: had a lot of people suggest to me on the
- 25:29Speaker 2: text line that Andy Msher Basheer, the governor of the
- 25:33Speaker 2: state gets to a point his at least temporary successor,
- 25:38Speaker 2: and that would be a Democrat.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Maybe maybe not. Usually that's what states tend to do.
- 25:43Speaker 3: The governor, there's a Senate vacancy, the governor appoints. Somebody's like, oh,
- 25:47Speaker 3: that's a nice gifts.
- 25:48Speaker 2: What just happened. But it's what just happened with Lindsay
- 25:51Speaker 2: mcsmaster appointed his sister.
- 25:53Speaker 3: One hundred percent. Most states do that. In Kentucky, where
- 25:56Speaker 3: they had a Democrat governor and have for a while,
- 25:58Speaker 3: the Republican led lature said, uh, this isn't fitting. So
- 26:03Speaker 3: what we're going to do is we're going to change
- 26:05Speaker 3: the law somewhat to where the governor gets to do
- 26:07Speaker 3: an appointment, but it's from a list of three people
- 26:10Speaker 3: that'll be of the exiting senator's party, so it would
- 26:13Speaker 3: be like three Republics up. But then they change that.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Then they said, no, tell you what special election. Just
- 26:20Speaker 3: let the people need to decide. Now here's the deal.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Governor Basher constitutionally challenges that and says, no, no, no, no,
- 26:27Speaker 3: you can't do that. I am constitutionally empowered to name
- 26:31Speaker 3: a successor. So I went to the Kentucky State Constitution.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I'm going to paraphrase this. It basically gives the governor
- 26:39Speaker 3: the right to appoint somebody for vacancies for officials who
- 26:43Speaker 3: represent the state at large. Now, to me, I would
- 26:48Speaker 3: think that would be the state attorney general, the state comtroller,
- 26:52Speaker 3: the state this the state that not somebody who is
- 26:55Speaker 3: in a federal office but doesn't mention McConnell represent the
- 27:00Speaker 3: people of the state of Kentucky. He does. That's an
- 27:04Speaker 3: interesting semantics thing and it might be an interesting court challenge.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Governor Bisheer says, I think I have the right to
- 27:09Speaker 3: appoint a successor. It'll be very interesting to see. You know,
- 27:12Speaker 3: he's trying to run for president, and wouldn't that be
- 27:16Speaker 3: a lot of Democrats are saying, yeah, that's what he
- 27:18Speaker 3: needs to do. That's how you stand and fight. So
- 27:20Speaker 3: amid all of this, I think that people are just
- 27:22Speaker 3: trying to keep Mitch McConnell alive, rehaps figuratively politically, if
- 27:26Speaker 3: not literally, so that we can just get through this.
- 27:29Speaker 3: We already have the primaries. Andy Barr is the Republican nominee.
- 27:33Speaker 3: He would certainly seem to be Mitch's likely successor. But
- 27:37Speaker 3: so let me ask you and give you the talking
- 27:39Speaker 3: stick back. It matters on principle greatly, people of Kentucky,
- 27:43Speaker 3: you are being hosed. America's being hosed. I think we're
- 27:45Speaker 3: being misled. Does it really matter that much? I mean,
- 27:49Speaker 3: and just how many days of the Senate do we
- 27:52Speaker 3: have left? Can we just kind of get to the
- 27:54Speaker 3: election and move on here, or is there something really
- 27:57Speaker 3: burning in the urgency of doing something about Mitch in
- 28:00Speaker 3: the short term.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I believe the urgency stems from the Save America Act,
- 28:05Speaker 2: and the reason it's urgent and the reason we cannot
- 28:08Speaker 2: let this go is that Mitch McConnell is said to
- 28:11Speaker 2: be stubbornly blocking the Save America Act. And as long
- 28:16Speaker 2: as he is in the state of limbo and they
- 28:19Speaker 2: can't get on with a special election and the procedure
- 28:22Speaker 2: that would put in, I would hope a Republican replacement,
- 28:25Speaker 2: maybe a conservative who would absolutely agree that the Save
- 28:29Speaker 2: America Act has to get passed. Mitch McConnell stands in
- 28:33Speaker 2: the way of it. And one of the many theories,
- 28:35Speaker 2: and Mark, there's a gazillion conspiracy conspiracy theories.
- 28:39Speaker 3: He's in a.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Coma, he's brain dead these days, already died, YadA YadA.
- 28:45Speaker 2: The other one is they're not announcing his condition because
- 28:48Speaker 2: they want to drag this thing out, even though he
- 28:51Speaker 2: might be on death's door, because he is a reliable opposition,
- 28:55Speaker 2: a stumbling block to getting the Save America Act passed.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So let's continue to gum it up without without replacing him,
- 29:03Speaker 2: so that we can keep our refusal to get the
- 29:05Speaker 2: Save America Act passed, says the Beast, says the says
- 29:08Speaker 2: the Uniparty, says the folks that don't want it passed,
- 29:12Speaker 2: like John Thune.
- 29:13Speaker 3: That's the reason I think the sclerotic Ivory Tower Ivory
- 29:17Speaker 3: Tower Republican establishment that does not want the Save Act
- 29:20Speaker 3: views this as a useful moment that they that they
- 29:23Speaker 3: can that they can put to use to block it.
- 29:26Speaker 2: I wow, does that make sense? Do you think that's why?
- 29:30Speaker 2: Is it plausible? Of course it is? Do I know
- 29:32Speaker 2: that's the case. Of course not. But what you've just
- 29:34Speaker 2: described is not is not implausible. There there's no end
- 29:37Speaker 2: to the degree to which the the hardened GOP establishment,
- 29:41Speaker 2: the John fun John Cornyn, and you know some others
- 29:45Speaker 2: or are just not will you had to go to
- 29:47Speaker 2: what eighty percent of Americans want to do. We've been
- 29:49Speaker 2: talking a little bit about our health and about the
- 29:51Speaker 2: goodness of technology and things that can be done to
- 29:55Speaker 2: make us feel better, to make us look better. Well, look,
- 29:58Speaker 2: I'm thrilled that one of our first spots answers was
- 30:00Speaker 2: PhD weight loss and nutrition. And I want to take
- 30:03Speaker 2: just a moment to thank doctor Ashley Lucas I mean it,
- 30:06Speaker 2: and as I see these my little eighty forty eighty
- 30:09Speaker 2: four calcium score numbers. Look, I'll say a little prayer
- 30:13Speaker 2: on my way to the emergency room after the podcast
- 30:15Speaker 2: to remind everybody that you two can get fit, you
- 30:18Speaker 2: can lose the weight, You're going to keep it off.
- 30:20Speaker 2: The beauty of PhD. And I mean this from the heart.
- 30:23Speaker 2: You're never hungry. All you want a steak, Mark loves steaks.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I love steaks. You want to you can have a
- 30:29Speaker 2: burger all you want. I went to Chipotle yesterday for lunch.
- 30:34Speaker 2: The difference is you make little tweaks to your day
- 30:37Speaker 2: to day intake and all it is is following their instructions,
- 30:42Speaker 2: and I'm a pretty good I'm pretty good at following instructions.
- 30:45Speaker 2: So you go ahead and make that call. Change your
- 30:48Speaker 2: life forever PhD weight loss because everybody knows that if
- 30:52Speaker 2: you look, the shots and the pills are out there,
- 30:55Speaker 2: but the second you come off them, that weight comes
- 30:57Speaker 2: pouring back. You don't want that schedule your consultation now,
- 31:01Speaker 2: mention me, Mike Gallagher. They'll add two free weeks to
- 31:04Speaker 2: the program and they'll even pay for the cost of
- 31:06Speaker 2: your food. That's a fifteen one hundred dollars value. What
- 31:10Speaker 2: are you waiting for? PhD weight loss called eight sixty
- 31:13Speaker 2: four six four four nineteen hundred eight sixty four six
- 31:16Speaker 2: four four nineteen hundred PhD weight loss or go to
- 31:19Speaker 2: myphdweight loss dot com, myphdweightloss dot com. Mark I do
- 31:27Speaker 2: have to I want to play. I want to put
- 31:29Speaker 2: a smile on everybody's face. Although now I don't even
- 31:32Speaker 2: like that phrase, because Hannity says that every single night
- 31:36Speaker 2: going into Gutfeld.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Have you heard that? Every night?
- 31:39Speaker 2: Every night there are things when people You and I
- 31:43Speaker 2: we have our quirks, and we have our we have
- 31:46Speaker 2: our little idiosyncrasisyncrasies. Yours is to go nine hours on
- 31:50Speaker 2: a medical procedure with sound effect.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Me.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I whine a lot. I'm I'm selfish. I get we
- 31:57Speaker 2: have our bits. We have our bits, we have our
- 32:00Speaker 2: we have our little quirks. But you know something we
- 32:02Speaker 2: don't do and I don't. I mean this, And I
- 32:05Speaker 2: think it's because we're pretty seasoned and we're experienced, although
- 32:07Speaker 2: Sean is too. But it's when people repeat a phrase
- 32:11Speaker 2: or an expression or a thought over and over and over.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I love that people have taglines by words, little things
- 32:18Speaker 3: they use that are kind of there there face.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I guess, well, every night when Sean signs off, and
- 32:24Speaker 2: Sean's a friend, I'm not drying dish on Sean. But
- 32:27Speaker 2: Sean says Greg Guttfield's coming up to put a smile
- 32:31Speaker 2: on your face every night, It's like, damn it, I
- 32:34Speaker 2: get it. Put a smile. And it's like Harold Ford
- 32:37Speaker 2: every day when the five shot the table. Oh, I'm
- 32:40Speaker 2: glad to be around the table with you, and they
- 32:41Speaker 2: all laugh at him over they're sick of it too.
- 32:44Speaker 2: You can see it. Gutfelds like, we just stop with
- 32:46Speaker 2: the bee around the table with us, every day. He's
- 32:48Speaker 2: the only one that does. It makes me crazy, makes
- 32:51Speaker 2: me crazy, you like that?
- 32:54Speaker 3: I mean, I kind of listen. If it takes no
- 32:56Speaker 3: more than like a second and a half, I'm pretty
- 33:01Speaker 3: good with it.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Too much now, I'm pretty enough. It's good to be
- 33:04Speaker 2: around the table with you. And sometimes a couple of
- 33:07Speaker 2: times they'll try to cut them off at the pass.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Once I saw Greg Wan say, Harold Ford's here, Harold.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Is it good to be around the table with just
- 33:14Speaker 2: today your fast Harold in your face?
- 33:18Speaker 3: So anyway, the greatest of the five, they have genuine
- 33:21Speaker 3: affection for each other amid some difference. Anyway, So put
- 33:24Speaker 3: your highest ray smile on our face. Highest rated show
- 33:26Speaker 3: they got, I mean they that show does? That show
- 33:29Speaker 3: does very well? And what is it? I mean, I look,
- 33:32Speaker 3: I think, to be honest. As much as I get
- 33:35Speaker 3: angry about her and I get all fired up and
- 33:38Speaker 3: my blood pressure goes through the roof, I think I
- 33:41Speaker 3: like it better when Jessica Tarlof is on than when
- 33:44Speaker 3: she's off. I kind of do too, because Harold is
- 33:46Speaker 3: a very I like Harold more than Jessica, I like,
- 33:51Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, Jessica seems like a sweet,
- 33:52Speaker 3: sweet lady. She's wrong on everything. Harold is pretty sensible.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Almost sixty percent of the time had still at that party.
- 34:01Speaker 3: So the cot flake is fun. Watch Jesse and Greg
- 34:05Speaker 3: beat up on Jessica and that her bow up to
- 34:08Speaker 3: them every once in a while, so they find a
- 34:10Speaker 3: way to make it work.
- 34:11Speaker 2: And I love how she bows up. It's so funny
- 34:13Speaker 2: because she always when she's called out, it's the funniest thing. Great.
- 34:18Speaker 2: She likes stops talking, like she can't believe they've dared
- 34:22Speaker 2: to challenge her, and she's like, she didn't say anything,
- 34:26Speaker 2: and there's like these long pauses and then I don't
- 34:28Speaker 2: know if she's gathering her thoughts, but hey, God bless her.
- 34:31Speaker 2: She's made at work for her. She loves it, I
- 34:33Speaker 2: guess over there, and they do like her personally, apparently
- 34:36Speaker 2: off air, well apparently I wouldn't think so from her
- 34:41Speaker 2: performance on TV anyway, put a let me put a
- 34:46Speaker 2: smile on your face. TikTok, TikTok, TikTok. Bernie Sanders giving
- 34:51Speaker 2: a speech. I came across this last night on X
- 34:54Speaker 2: and I thought I got to play this for Mark.
- 34:56Speaker 2: And on the podcast today there was somebody with a
- 35:00Speaker 2: giant boat. Bernie said, I didn't even know where this
- 35:03Speaker 2: was or when it was, but it was a while ago.
- 35:05Speaker 2: He's on a He's at a podium in front of
- 35:08Speaker 2: a body of water that had boats, and there was
- 35:12Speaker 2: a Trump boat. There was a giant Trump There was
- 35:16Speaker 2: a boat with giant Trump flags and banners, and the
- 35:21Speaker 2: boat decides to pay a little visit. This is how
- 35:24Speaker 2: it was when poor Bernie Sanders was attempting to deliver
- 35:29Speaker 2: a speech.
- 35:31Speaker 4: In nineteen sixty eight, when he stated, in nineteen sixty eight,
- 35:48Speaker 4: how good is that?
- 35:49Speaker 1: Mark?
- 35:50Speaker 3: Do you love that?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Now? Did that put a.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Smile on your face? Listening, you see Bernie from the
- 35:54Speaker 3: left profile the body of water, flags flying in the breeze,
- 35:59Speaker 3: and then a just slowly slowly moving right to left,
- 36:03Speaker 3: a powerboat going clearly intentionally two miles per hour with
- 36:06Speaker 3: a massive Trump sign just going right below Bernie as
- 36:10Speaker 3: he attempts to complete a sentence.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Blowing the horn and again interrupting his uh. And look
- 36:17Speaker 2: it ties it as something's going on in our world today.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I kind of liked the days of Bernie being the radical.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I've never heard Bernie call for political violence. I've never
- 36:30Speaker 2: heard Bernie celebrate the assassination attempts on President Trump. I
- 36:34Speaker 2: didn't hear Bernie celebrate Charlie Kirk's murder and assassination. Bernie
- 36:40Speaker 2: is kind of quaint compared to what they're doing these days.
- 36:44Speaker 2: For example, Zoe Ron the Destroyer as I call him,
- 36:47Speaker 2: the Mayor of New York calling to arrest pretending he's
- 36:52Speaker 2: had the ability to arrest the Prime Minister of Israel.
- 36:55Speaker 2: I know because of his antisemit anti Semitic.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Hatred flogging this. They just know that Jew hatred and
- 37:02Speaker 3: israel hatred is their stock in trade, and he's particularly
- 37:06Speaker 3: good at it. And on the flip side of that,
- 37:09Speaker 3: Jared Polus, the Democrat governor of Colorado, speaking of Hannity,
- 37:13Speaker 3: was on Hannity last night and and and Hannity kind
- 37:17Speaker 3: of brought up his party's problem with Israel and distaste
- 37:21Speaker 3: for Israel and anti Semitism flavors and the modern reasonable
- 37:28Speaker 3: mainstream Democrats he's reasonable with an asterisk, are scared to
- 37:33Speaker 3: death to inflame the Jew hating wing of their party.
- 37:38Speaker 3: They know there will be a price to pay if
- 37:40Speaker 3: they aren't anti Israel enough. And that's an interesting corner
- 37:45Speaker 3: to be painted into.
- 37:46Speaker 2: It's a it's a well, it's kind of a terrifying
- 37:49Speaker 2: corner because they're all lining up, protooted to leave. Even
- 37:53Speaker 2: AOC all not Menyah, who's a war criminal. He's committing genocide,
- 37:59Speaker 2: their killer, They're torturing babies, they're killing people. I mean, Mark,
- 38:03Speaker 2: this is an evil. This is an insidiousness that we've
- 38:07Speaker 2: never experienced before.
- 38:08Speaker 3: And there's another. We talk a lot about the anti
- 38:11Speaker 3: Semitic tropes, the anti Semitic index cards. Saying certain things
- 38:16Speaker 3: and expressing a certain view doesn't instantly make someone guaranteed
- 38:20Speaker 3: anti Semite. But if you're sort of trafficking in their lexicon,
- 38:23Speaker 3: if you're kind of using stuff of their index card,
- 38:26Speaker 3: it makes you kind of scratch your head. AOC the
- 38:28Speaker 3: last day or two had this thing that the National
- 38:32Speaker 3: Defense Authorization Bill that funds the military absolutely contained a
- 38:36Speaker 3: part that gives over control of the American military in
- 38:40Speaker 3: some fashion to the Israeli Defense Forces, that the IDF
- 38:44Speaker 3: will we'll have certain powers over the American military. It
- 38:47Speaker 3: was a complete lie. But that is just one of
- 38:50Speaker 3: the main anti Semitic tropes that the evil Jews, or
- 38:54Speaker 3: somehow able through their wiles and their and their their
- 38:58Speaker 3: mystical powers to lure unwitting Americans into various things to
- 39:03Speaker 3: benefit Israel.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Dude, it's bad. And I got into a big back
- 39:08Speaker 2: and forth. You know, I'm so comfortable working with you.
- 39:12Speaker 2: And of course I've worked with Hugh Hewett over the years,
- 39:15Speaker 2: for many years, decades. Actually, Hugh and I were on
- 39:19Speaker 2: at an event the other night in Sarasota, and of
- 39:23Speaker 2: course there were some gems from Hugh, who I always
- 39:27Speaker 2: couched this with this caveat. He and I are friends,
- 39:30Speaker 2: He and I are longtime colleagues, but we don't often
- 39:33Speaker 2: agree on things. We don't, for example, agree I'm glad
- 39:37Speaker 2: you're sitting down and you've got your hand cradled in
- 39:39Speaker 2: your lap. Susan Collins is wonderful, and Amy Cony Barrett
- 39:44Speaker 2: and John Roberts are two of the smartest, best Supreme
- 39:47Speaker 2: Court justices we've ever had. I mean, he went on
- 39:51Speaker 2: a tirade about defending her on the birthright citizenship case.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Sit over in the room, not well, not well, I
- 39:58Speaker 2: mean I sort of want the room over when I
- 40:01Speaker 2: about fell off my chair at that. But you know,
- 40:04Speaker 2: we but but and I do love him, and he
- 40:07Speaker 2: had he had great Forest. He's terrific, one of the
- 40:10Speaker 2: greatest interviewers in our business.
- 40:12Speaker 3: I love it. I love it.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I appreciate the work he does, and I appreciate his
- 40:16Speaker 2: knowledge of foreign policy. And he spent a lot of
- 40:17Speaker 2: time talking about Israel and Iran and why we're doing
- 40:20Speaker 2: what we're doing, and how it needs to end. And
- 40:23Speaker 2: he had some great, great takes on Pickaxe Mountain and
- 40:26Speaker 2: car Island and all that. But he but he, but
- 40:29Speaker 2: he did something that I thought was regrettable and something
- 40:32Speaker 2: I disagree with, and I disagreed with it. The other
- 40:34Speaker 2: night too, he kind of likened what we're going through
- 40:37Speaker 2: today with today's Democrats to the Kent State era of
- 40:42Speaker 2: years past. He was comparing, he said, he actually said,
- 40:46Speaker 2: he sort of said it was like kind of like
- 40:48Speaker 2: the seventies. You know, remember Kent State, Remember Patty Hirst
- 40:52Speaker 2: and the Revolutionary Guard. I'm like, Hugh, this is different.
- 40:56Speaker 2: This is so much more drastic and radical. The radical
- 41:01Speaker 2: extremism of today's Democrat party is.
- 41:04Speaker 3: What I wondered what he was talking about or what
- 41:06Speaker 3: you were telling that that that the the Democrats who
- 41:08Speaker 3: seem radical are as isolated an incident as as the
- 41:14Speaker 3: King State protesters, the Symbionese little fami. Yeah, that it's
- 41:18Speaker 3: just it's just a little microcosm. It's not really emblematic
- 41:21Speaker 3: of much more than that.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Now, I think that's what no I But I don't
- 41:25Speaker 2: even know that it was about about isolating. I think
- 41:28Speaker 2: because because because my point is, look, they're taking over.
- 41:32Speaker 2: The Democrats are winning prime They're winning primaries left and right,
- 41:35Speaker 2: flavor of the moment all over the place. I mean,
- 41:38Speaker 2: there was another one saw there was one socialist that
- 41:40Speaker 2: got blown out in Arizona, but there was another one
- 41:42Speaker 2: who won a DSA candidate who won one of the
- 41:45Speaker 2: Arizona primary victors. So this is different. And and and
- 41:49Speaker 2: Hugh didn't agree. I don't think with me, But it
- 41:52Speaker 2: is there's a radicalism. And I got a theory, and
- 41:55Speaker 2: I thought about it the other night, and I wanted
- 41:57Speaker 2: to bring it up on the show today, and I did,
- 41:59Speaker 2: and I'm gonna I'm gonna bounce it off you. I've
- 42:01Speaker 2: got a theory about why the normal the quote unquote
- 42:05Speaker 2: normal Democrats are standing sitting idly by as this is
- 42:11Speaker 2: all unfolding. I think they kind of enjoy it. I
- 42:14Speaker 2: think that even the mainstream Democrats enjoy the radicalization of
- 42:18Speaker 2: their party.
- 42:19Speaker 3: And here's why.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I know enough Democrats and I know enough Trump haters
- 42:25Speaker 2: to know that they think we're crazy. They think we're radical,
- 42:30Speaker 2: they think we're fascists. They think we're we want to
- 42:33Speaker 2: shred the constitution where we're destroying democracy, as they always
- 42:38Speaker 2: like to say it, right, that's what they think about us.
- 42:41Speaker 2: And they lost. They lost, They got their butts whipped.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Trump beat him twice, and Trump beat him with Kamala
- 42:48Speaker 2: and they hate it. They can't believe he's back. I
- 42:51Speaker 2: believe their their mindset is, you know what, you crazy,
- 42:55Speaker 2: Maga America firsters, you want crazy, will show you crazy.
- 43:00Speaker 2: We'll give you Zoe, Ron, Mom, Donnie. We'll give you
- 43:04Speaker 2: the crazy far left radicals. We'll give you the Democrats
- 43:07Speaker 2: Socialists of America. Will support them, We'll lift them up,
- 43:11Speaker 2: and will be quiet when they say insidious, awful, horrible things,
- 43:15Speaker 2: because we're gonna out crazy. We're going to out radical
- 43:19Speaker 2: you radicals. What do you think do you think that's.
- 43:22Speaker 3: And if those were, I'm just to continue the thought
- 43:25Speaker 3: it's in a linear fashion. If this makes sense to
- 43:28Speaker 3: take the ball and run with it, and if this
- 43:31Speaker 3: crazy energy of the Democrats succeeds in beating down Trump
- 43:35Speaker 3: and beating down certain portions of MAGA, there they will
- 43:38Speaker 3: be to say, Hey, remember us, Remember John McCain, Remember
- 43:44Speaker 3: Mitt Romney, Remember Paul Ryan, Remember the squishes and the
- 43:47Speaker 3: go along to get a long crowd. We're back and
- 43:51Speaker 3: we're ready to take the reins of you.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I think they that's exactly what they're hoping.
- 43:56Speaker 2: You could be right. I think we should be right.
- 43:58Speaker 2: I want to end on a proful note. And let
- 44:00Speaker 2: me tell you what about the prayer, Because this was
- 44:02Speaker 2: a little controversial. I had a caller I decided in
- 44:06Speaker 2: your absence this week, I was thinking about the power
- 44:09Speaker 2: of prayer, and I appreciate the fact that every morning
- 44:11Speaker 2: on your radio show in Dallas, you start the morning
- 44:14Speaker 2: with a prayer, and it always touches me every time
- 44:17Speaker 2: I'm driving over the dog Gone Howard Franklin Bridge, dodging
- 44:21Speaker 2: the rocks. Although now they have redone that thing. You
- 44:25Speaker 2: can't believe they got it. They got express lanes, baby, ooh,
- 44:28Speaker 2: you can get that up to about eighty five ninety
- 44:31Speaker 2: miles an hour. You can get it right over that bridge. Oh,
- 44:34Speaker 2: my luck's gonna run out. Oh no, I was thinking
- 44:35Speaker 2: about that yesterday. My luck's gonna run out. My luck
- 44:38Speaker 2: will absolutely run out one day, and then good old
- 44:41Speaker 2: Johnny Law is going to pull over Uncle Mike, and
- 44:44Speaker 2: I'll have to pay that. Anyway, I was listening to you,
- 44:47Speaker 2: and every time I listened to you pray, I think,
- 44:49Speaker 2: thank you God for letting Mark do that. And then
- 44:51Speaker 2: I started thinking, wait a minute, I got a show too.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I come on after Mark in Dallas. I've got an
- 44:57Speaker 2: audience like Mark, Why and I pray? And I decided
- 45:00Speaker 2: to sit down and I composed a prayer just like
- 45:03Speaker 2: you did. How many years ago? How long ago you.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Did you put your prayer to go to it with COVID?
- 45:07Speaker 3: When I came back after I was on vacation, I
- 45:10Speaker 3: was spring break and COVID was breaking out all over
- 45:13Speaker 3: and I came off a vacation to come back and
- 45:15Speaker 3: reclaim my show from the villain knows because it was
- 45:18Speaker 3: clearly a huge breaking story. Said, what's the first thing
- 45:20Speaker 3: I want to do? Just want to publicly pray to
- 45:22Speaker 3: get us through this. And I haven't stopped ever since.
- 45:26Speaker 2: You have done it continually, do you mind? As we
- 45:28Speaker 2: end today's podcast and the return of Mark to eminem
- 45:31Speaker 2: and now.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I feel whole again.
- 45:34Speaker 2: My life is complete.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Marcus back.
- 45:37Speaker 2: It's kind of fun too on the show and Tim,
- 45:40Speaker 2: I refer to you now, I refer to you as
- 45:42Speaker 2: my podcast partner.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Colt Well, it is.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Because like like we almost not jokingly say the talk
- 45:51Speaker 2: shows are our second favorite thing to do during the day,
- 45:54Speaker 2: which I don't get worder. I hope that. I hope
- 45:56Speaker 2: the companies are right right with that. I know, don't
- 45:58Speaker 2: tell anybody so, but it's fun to say, my podcast partner,
- 46:01Speaker 2: would you mind? Do you mind sharing your prayer? I mean,
- 46:05Speaker 2: I don't know if you're in the right studio, if
- 46:06Speaker 2: you've got it, because I've got mine written down, but
- 46:09Speaker 2: I thought, absolutely well, I thought it might be kind
- 46:11Speaker 2: of cool for you to do your prayer me to
- 46:13Speaker 2: do mine. No, let me do mine first, because we'll
- 46:15Speaker 2: end with you, because we'll end with yours, because you're
- 46:18Speaker 2: the you started this tradition. And a quick backstory on Monday,
- 46:22Speaker 2: when I started doing reading this prayer, this guy called
- 46:25Speaker 2: the show and he said, that's foolish, that is so stupid.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I know what you're doing as a guy. He was
- 46:31Speaker 2: guy calling from California, shocker and from Upton, California. And
- 46:37Speaker 2: he said it's a stupid, foolish thing to do. And
- 46:40Speaker 2: I said why, He said, because you're asking God to
- 46:43Speaker 2: take sides, and you're asking God to crush our enemy.
- 46:48Speaker 2: God doesn't take sides. Don't pretend that you're going to
- 46:51Speaker 2: play God and ask God to defeat our enemies. That's
- 46:54Speaker 2: not something God does. He doesn't take sides. What about
- 46:57Speaker 2: all the innocent men, women and children of her Gallagher,
- 47:01Speaker 2: why don't you deal with Why don't you pray for
- 47:03Speaker 2: the men, women and.
- 47:04Speaker 3: Children of Iraq? I mean of Iran?
- 47:06Speaker 2: And I'm like well, And of course the phones blew
- 47:09Speaker 2: up and everybody got upset and excited and supported my
- 47:14Speaker 2: decision because if our podcast audience would like to listen
- 47:18Speaker 2: to the words, you tell me, if there's anything in
- 47:21Speaker 2: this prayer that makes you think that I'm asking God
- 47:24Speaker 2: to take sides or I'm expecting God to crush the men,
- 47:29Speaker 2: women and children of Iran. See if you get that
- 47:32Speaker 2: from my prayer, here's mine, and then Mark will share
- 47:35Speaker 2: with you his. As we wrap for a Thursday, Heavenly Father,
- 47:40Speaker 2: we come before you with humble hearts, asking for your
- 47:43Speaker 2: mercy and your peace in this uncertain hour. We lift
- 47:46Speaker 2: up the leaders of our nation and leaders around the world.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Grant them wisdom beyond their own understanding, courage to do
- 47:53Speaker 2: what is right, and discernment that they may prevent needless suffering.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Guide every decision with justice, restraint, and a desire for peace. Lord,
- 48:01Speaker 2: We pray for the brave men and women of our military,
- 48:04Speaker 2: and for our police officers, firefight fIF firefighters, paramedics, and
- 48:08Speaker 2: all first responders, including the brave men and women of ice.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Surround them with your protection, Strengthen them for the difficult days,
- 48:16Speaker 2: comfort their families, and please bring them home safely. We
- 48:20Speaker 2: ask you to watch over our country, unite us in purpose,
- 48:23Speaker 2: calm our fears, and remind us that our ultimate hope
- 48:27Speaker 2: is found in you and you alone. May your peace
- 48:30Speaker 2: rule in our hearts, Your truth guide our nation, and
- 48:33Speaker 2: your hand of protection rest upon the United States of America.
- 48:37Speaker 2: In your holy name, we pray, Amen. And now was
- 48:41Speaker 2: there anything in there that there was you ought to
- 48:45Speaker 2: be persnekety if somebody wanted to. First of all, no,
- 48:48Speaker 2: that's fantastic, as I hope mine is, because mine contains
- 48:52Speaker 2: some talk sholl issues and here it comes. But it
- 48:56Speaker 2: does it in a way that I think if it
- 48:58Speaker 2: does quote unquote take aside, it takes the side that
- 49:01Speaker 2: God is on. I'll let everybody judge that here in
- 49:03Speaker 2: a second, when you mentioned the ice officers with specificity, and.
- 49:08Speaker 3: People, well ice, maybe I'm anti ice, Well, okay, maybe
- 49:11Speaker 3: you are, but but you don't want them killed. One
- 49:14Speaker 3: would hope, we would hope that that you would want
- 49:17Speaker 3: law enforcement officers, whether you agree or disagree with whatever
- 49:20Speaker 3: policy they're carrying out, to be safe as they do
- 49:23Speaker 3: their duty. You could you could certainly get arguments about
- 49:26Speaker 3: almost anything. But I thought that was absolutely fantastic.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Of course, of course, well thank you, let's do yours.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Let's listen to your prayer that yeah, please, I'm ready, and.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Then and then and then a preview about tomorrow, because
- 49:37Speaker 3: do you still are you still doing this afternoon what
- 49:39Speaker 3: you told me you're doing this afternoon?
- 49:41Speaker 2: Yes, although there might be a little wrench in the works, you.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Do that. You're gonna do that first and pray us
- 49:47Speaker 3: out or pray it no.
- 49:48Speaker 2: You no, yeah, let me just quickly mention I'm scheduled.
- 49:51Speaker 2: I got a ticket to see the Odyssey because I
- 49:53Speaker 2: couldn't get in all week. The theater was packed every day,
- 49:57Speaker 2: every every showtime.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Talked about movie in the world Odyssey with Matt Damon
- 50:01Speaker 3: and you and I love talking movies.
- 50:03Speaker 2: So you've seen it. I can't wait to hear your thoughts. No, No,
- 50:08Speaker 2: don't you just blew it now? Why?
- 50:10Speaker 1: No?
- 50:10Speaker 3: I've been all over social media saying that I loved it.
- 50:13Speaker 3: I haven't been gushing about it like some people have.
- 50:17Speaker 3: I have found some of the criticism to be weird,
- 50:20Speaker 3: but that doesn't mean everybody has to like it. But
- 50:22Speaker 3: I'm stoked because tomorrow. I hope there are no big
- 50:25Speaker 3: issues in the news tomorrow, because if we got room,
- 50:28Speaker 3: we're gonna do Odyssey back and forth. And you remember
- 50:32Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago, I told you there was
- 50:34Speaker 3: an eight season show that I started watching with Lisa.
- 50:39Speaker 3: I thought it was going to be one of her cute,
- 50:41Speaker 3: little romantic shows. Sure, honey, I'll watch a couple of
- 50:43Speaker 3: episodes with you. I grew to tolerate it, then love it.
- 50:46Speaker 3: It's been one of my favorite shows of the maybe
- 50:47Speaker 3: of the last decade. We're going to finish up, probably today,
- 50:51Speaker 3: and I will tell you about it tomorrow. And I've
- 50:54Speaker 3: got a couple of issues about shows and the content
- 50:57Speaker 3: of shows to sort of wrap up to put in
- 50:59Speaker 3: our front broadcast. But first, don't tell me you're not
- 51:02Speaker 3: doing it. Are you still on board for Odyssey?
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, And and I want to observe real
- 51:07Speaker 2: quickly the reason the movie is controversial, and I think
- 51:11Speaker 2: the reason pushed back and why you call these weird reactions, Well,
- 51:15Speaker 2: let me let me, let me explain why.
- 51:16Speaker 3: People think it is.
- 51:17Speaker 2: People. Well, people are offended that they think the movie
- 51:20Speaker 2: is woke. You've got a black Helen of Troy. You
- 51:22Speaker 2: have things that aren't historically accurate. You got Elliott Page,
- 51:26Speaker 2: so and they and people are angry about that. And
- 51:29Speaker 2: Matt Walsh, for the record, as we know, the trans
- 51:33Speaker 2: thing is is is a big thing for him. That's
- 51:35Speaker 2: a big issue for him. So I guarantee you he
- 51:39Speaker 2: was never gonna.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Like this movie.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Ever. That's what it's about, Mark. It isn't about I
- 51:44Speaker 2: don't think he's making a compelling argument about the merits
- 51:47Speaker 2: of the movie.
- 51:48Speaker 3: But no, But but of all of all, I need
- 51:50Speaker 3: to go back through every post he ever did. The
- 51:53Speaker 3: casting of Elliott Page, in which who I'm glad to
- 51:56Speaker 3: call Elliott You can change your name, but not your sex.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Elliott Page is a is a she she she and her.
- 52:02Speaker 3: It wasn't so much it was about all kinds of
- 52:04Speaker 3: other stuff. He just went full raging bazooka on the
- 52:08Speaker 3: thing and just it was just weird. But I got
- 52:11Speaker 3: to know what you think, and I can't wait and
- 52:12Speaker 3: say by None of this has anything to do with
- 52:14Speaker 3: whether you find it artistically meritorious. So you either will
- 52:18Speaker 3: or you won't, and we'll and we'll find out. Okay,
- 52:20Speaker 3: we'll find out, Shay.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Let's end. Let's go out with your prayer that use
- 52:24Speaker 2: that you have expressed for years on your daily show
- 52:27Speaker 2: on six sixty am. The Answer in Dallas.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Lord, we thank you every day for this blessed nation
- 52:32Speaker 3: and for your hand in creating it. Fill our hearts
- 52:34Speaker 3: with the energy to defend the freedoms which come from you,
- 52:37Speaker 3: which our nation was founded to protect. These are times
- 52:40Speaker 3: filled with opportunity to improve our great nation as we
- 52:43Speaker 3: fight for what we believe in. Help us to carry
- 52:45Speaker 3: a positive spirit, treating others as we would want to
- 52:48Speaker 3: be treated. We know we will always face challenges, so
- 52:51Speaker 3: lift us as we follow your word and work for
- 52:53Speaker 3: a better America. Where our constitution is honored, our borders work,
- 52:58Speaker 3: where we protect the unborn, or we fight for the
- 53:00Speaker 3: definition of the two sexes created by You, and where
- 53:04Speaker 3: we navigate all of our differences with honesty and goodwill,
- 53:07Speaker 3: and where our freedoms of speech and worship are protected.
- 53:10Speaker 3: And Lord, as we face each day's problems, give us
- 53:13Speaker 3: the clarity to look around and cherish our many blessings
- 53:15Speaker 3: in our nation, our great state of Texas, our communities,
- 53:19Speaker 3: and our families, because if we follow you, Lord, we
- 53:21Speaker 3: know we can get through anything. And we ask these
- 53:24Speaker 3: things in your holy name. Amen.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Amen, I'm glad you're back. Amen, and Amen, just do
- 53:29Speaker 2: it again tomorrow having great Thursdays. Love you to see
- 53:32Speaker 2: tomorrow and honestly talk to come
