Ramsey County’s warning: if you grabbed mulch or compost from their yard waste sites lately, check your soil—jumping worms may be hiding there. These invasive pests, confirmed at Arden Hills and suspected in White Bear Township, are wrecking gardens by stripping nutrients and turning soil into coffee-ground-like mush. County’s paused all mulch/compost distribution while they investigate, even incinerating contaminated wood mulch.
