Luna: Like on the table? Or under the chair? Lucas: Exactly. We use special words for that. These are called prepositions. Luna: Prepositions. Okay. Let me try. Is it easy? Lucas: It is very simple if you know one key word first. Do you remember it? Luna: Is it... 'is'? Like in English? Lucas: Yes. The verb 'to be'. In Spanish, it is 'estar'. So we start with 'está'. Luna: Okay. 'Está'. That means it is there. Lucas: Correct. Now let us put it somewhere. Let us say the cup is on the table. Luna: On the table. In Spanish, 'on' is often 'en'. So... 'En' can mean inside or on. But sometimes we want to be specific. Luna: Specific. Like directly on top? Lucas: Yes. For that, we use 'sobre'. It means 'on top of'. Luna: Sobre. Okay. 'El libro está sobre la mesa'. Lucas: Good. Let us practice the phrase from our list. 'Está sobre el libro'. Luna: Wait. If the cup is on the book, then... 'está sobre el libro'. Lucas: Yes. Listen slowly. 'Está sobre el libro'. Luna: 'Está sobre el libro'. Okay. 'Sobre' is like above, but touching. Lucas: Exactly. Touching. Now what if the cat is hiding under the chair? Luna: Under.
