- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:11Speaker 2: This is, by the way, I'm just kidding about cal
- 0:13Speaker 2: State Northridge. It really is a superb institution of higher learning.
- 0:18Speaker 2: It's called Harvard of the West.
- 0:22Speaker 1: And now Handle on the news. Ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:26Speaker 1: Bill Handle.
- 0:32Speaker 3: It's Friday.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's a foody Friday. It's an ass candle anything Friday.
- 0:37Speaker 2: It's a rainy Friday. It's time to hunker down and
- 0:43Speaker 2: in front of the fireplace. And if you don't have one,
- 0:45Speaker 2: just light a fire in your living room and you
- 0:48Speaker 2: will feel warm and toasty. So good morning everybody.
- 0:53Speaker 3: In the rain. It has it hit Verbank yet. The rain.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I'm in Orange County today.
- 0:57Speaker 4: I don't think it's earning. It was dry on my
- 0:59Speaker 4: way in.
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's a little bit. It's sprinkling, but not bad.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's going up there first, and then usually
- 1:05Speaker 2: what happens is the storm the weather moves down south.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah. Santa Barbara County has already got like two to
- 1:11Speaker 4: three inches of rain.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Wow, that's tough. That's a lot of rain. It's coming
- 1:18Speaker 2: down really hard. And I'm not a big fan of
- 1:22Speaker 2: the rain.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I'm really not really. Yeah, I got it.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I know we need rain. I understand
- 1:31Speaker 2: we need moisture. But I go outside and it's dry,
- 1:35Speaker 2: and I know it's a rain. I go yo, if listen,
- 1:38Speaker 2: this is why God invented garden hoses. Leave me alone.
- 1:41Speaker 2: We don't need this kind of rain.
- 1:42Speaker 5: I'd come from somewhere. Why do you so it's just
- 1:45Speaker 5: so lovely?
- 1:47Speaker 3: No, it's not. It's wet. Well, that's what it is.
- 1:50Speaker 3: It is wet.
- 1:52Speaker 5: We're going to have a house full of kids because
- 1:54Speaker 5: we're throwing an early birthday party for my boy, and
- 1:59Speaker 5: so a bunch of seven to eight year old is
- 2:01Speaker 5: going to be running around the house because we had
- 2:03Speaker 5: planned it before the rain.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Oh, excellent, all done, All right, quick Collo, Neil Gorning.
- 2:10Speaker 6: Good morning, Willie Wolf, Happy.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Day, Happy Happy rain Day.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Cono, good morning, good morning, Happy National Pickle Day.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Pickle Day.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Now what kind of pickle? Because there's so many kind
- 2:25Speaker 2: of pickles, new pickles, sweet pickles, dill pickles.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Well, apparently on TikTok, glitter pickles are now a thing.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Glitter pickles. Wow, And how does that work?
- 2:37Speaker 4: Amy, Well, my understanding is that you dip them in
- 2:40Speaker 4: that edible glitter. I've only heard of using the glitter
- 2:44Speaker 4: in drinks, which to me, it's.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Like gold, you know, ice cream with the gold leaf
- 2:51Speaker 2: on it, edible gold.
- 2:53Speaker 3: And it's that's kind of weird too.
- 2:55Speaker 5: You know, it's even weirder is glitter Pickle was Conano's
- 3:00Speaker 5: nickname in prison.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Not bad, not bad?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Okay, good morning, will find that hilarious. Good morning, Will,
- 3:09Speaker 2: Good morning. What does that say on your T shirt?
- 3:12Speaker 3: There? H Nebraska?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Oh?
- 3:15Speaker 3: Nebraska? Okay, you should say Disneyland. I went there last
- 3:18Speaker 3: night just to just to one up Amy. Oh, how
- 3:22Speaker 3: was it? It was great? It was? It was it crowded,
- 3:24Speaker 3: it was okay, it was okay for an off day. Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 4: How long did how long were the lines for smugglers run?
- 3:31Speaker 3: That was about almost about fifty minutes.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Fifty Oh that's a long time to wait.
- 3:36Speaker 3: For that ride.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Oh now you're on for wait to say you're waiting
- 3:39Speaker 2: fifty minutes to ride for three minutes pretty much. Now,
- 3:42Speaker 2: if you want a really good fast ride, go to
- 3:44Speaker 2: a building that has a fast elevator. You'll be just fine. Yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 2: you don't wait that long. Same thing about weightlessness, peel, Oh,
- 3:52Speaker 2: I want to go into space and be weightless.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Go into an elevator. Leave me alone. You're a sour pusterday.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, I'm me today. Sure, no, I'm
- 4:03Speaker 2: just you know, I just it is Friday. Good morning
- 4:08Speaker 2: to you, and good mon Okay.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Why is today?
- 4:14Speaker 2: I feel like it's passover. Why is today different than
- 4:16Speaker 2: any other day?
- 4:18Speaker 3: It is not? It is not. It is the same.
- 4:21Speaker 2: All right, guys, I got a lot going on. The
- 4:23Speaker 2: big story, of course, is the rain. And we'll do
- 4:26Speaker 2: a little bit of politics, not very much. We have
- 4:29Speaker 2: Hitler News always interesting.
- 4:32Speaker 3: We enjoy Hitler News, don't we.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And uh, well, you know what, we may actually even
- 4:38Speaker 2: though there's a Costco story in the Footy Friday segment,
- 4:43Speaker 2: we may actually blow past the Costco story.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Woe.
- 4:46Speaker 3: We'll probably put now, we'll probably put it in. We'll
- 4:49Speaker 3: probably put it in.
- 4:49Speaker 6: We are talking about what do you mean the Costco story?
- 4:55Speaker 6: These are put in there for you.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I understand that. But what I'm saying is maybe we're overdoing.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Not that this show overdes leaders love it. How do
- 5:04Speaker 2: you know, because they tell me.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the other thing. One listener tells you.
- 5:09Speaker 2: This is one of the things A little inside Baseball here,
- 5:12Speaker 2: boys and girls. All right, since most listeners do not
- 5:16Speaker 2: write in and the only ones that do email us
- 5:19Speaker 2: or deal with it are people that hate us.
- 5:22Speaker 3: All right, people that like us.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Put it this way, negative feelings are much stronger than
- 5:27Speaker 2: positive feelings.
- 5:28Speaker 6: So you get so much mail?
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yes, exactly. So let me ask this.
- 5:33Speaker 2: There was a time that does not anymore that one
- 5:37Speaker 2: negative letter represented how many people listening to the show.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Roughly one hundred back in the day.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Just one hundred. Yeah, I thought it was one hundred thousand.
- 5:47Speaker 3: One letter was one hundred a million people.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Hold on, let's just make this quick hate Hey, Kno,
- 5:54Speaker 5: what's the most listened to downloaded podcast segment of the
- 6:00Speaker 5: Bill Handles Show.
- 6:02Speaker 3: That would be Foody Friday?
- 6:04Speaker 6: Okay, so really people have spoken?
- 6:07Speaker 3: Is that true? Yeah?
- 6:09Speaker 4: It's every month.
- 6:10Speaker 6: The top three are usually the FOODI free.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 5: So I think we learned something and an apology is
- 6:18Speaker 5: due to me. Wow, I'll take I'd rather have an
- 6:23Speaker 5: apology from the BBC. All right, let's move on, guys.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It is time for Handle on the News with Amy
- 6:30Speaker 2: Neil and Me lead story, and it is the rain.
- 6:36Speaker 2: All southern California under severe weather threat. It has not
- 6:40Speaker 2: yet hit Burbank. It has not yet hit Orange County,
- 6:42Speaker 2: where I happen to be today. But as Amy said,
- 6:46Speaker 2: Santa Barbara has already gotten two and a half inches
- 6:50Speaker 2: of rain.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I mean that is not good news.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Because it's okay, excuse me, Hope Oprah is okay?
- 7:00Speaker 3: Isn't she got that way? Yeah?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, monacido ish. So we'll be doing more about that,
- 7:07Speaker 2: and you'll be on the news, your news segments, you'll
- 7:10Speaker 2: be talking about.
- 7:10Speaker 3: The rain most of the morning. I'm assuming, right, yes, okay, moving.
- 7:16Speaker 4: On absolutely, so sorry, please don't sue. The BBC has
- 7:20Speaker 4: apologized to President Trump over a misleading edit of his
- 7:23Speaker 4: speech from January sixth, right before the Capitol riot. But
- 7:28Speaker 4: the bb says said we didn't defame you. Because Trump
- 7:33Speaker 4: is threatening a one billion dollar lawsuit, the BBC chair
- 7:37Speaker 4: sent a personal letter to the White House. They say
- 7:41Speaker 4: there are no plans to re broadcast the documentary either,
- 7:44Speaker 4: and it did have parts spiced together from his speech
- 7:48Speaker 4: that were about an hour apart.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they absolutely whether it's defamation or not, they
- 7:55Speaker 2: absolutely screwed the pooch on this one.
- 7:57Speaker 4: It really I watched the edits, I watched what Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 4: really happened, and then how it was edited, and I
- 8:01Speaker 4: was like, holy cow.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and for the BBC, which used to have a
- 8:06Speaker 2: reputation of being objective and fair, not so good news.
- 8:10Speaker 2: But in the end, is that enough an apology? We
- 8:15Speaker 2: won't do it again. Sorry, Nope, I want a billion dollars.
- 8:20Speaker 5: They should just put like a clock that spins between
- 8:23Speaker 5: to let it no time has passed, or an ellipses
- 8:26Speaker 5: with like twelve dots.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I don't think defamation is going to fly on this one,
- 8:31Speaker 2: but we'll see.
- 8:33Speaker 3: It's a threat.
- 8:33Speaker 2: And by the way, Donald Trump's threats are not idle threats.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Well they may be idle threats, but the various news
- 8:41Speaker 2: outlets take them very seriously. Read ABC, CBS paramount.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Maybe he'll set it just for the crown. All right,
- 8:51Speaker 5: So the Justice Department is suing to block California's US
- 8:56Speaker 5: house maps, and we kind of saw this come in.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Right, going to happen.
- 9:01Speaker 5: This is all because it could tip the control of Congress.
- 9:04Speaker 5: That is freaking conservatives out. Of course, the kaploite filed
- 9:09Speaker 5: here in California in our federal court. It's kind of
- 9:12Speaker 5: targeting that congressional map. This was prop fifty that was
- 9:19Speaker 5: highly voted for here in California, Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom,
- 9:24Speaker 5: Newsom and White House Hopeful, I believe, said it was
- 9:30Speaker 5: in response to a similar Republican led effort.
- 9:33Speaker 3: It was a response to what Texas did.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Texas did it based on what the President wanted Texas
- 9:38Speaker 2: to do. Look at the hypocrisy here. It is stunning.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It is breath taking. The hypocrisy. Texas revamps, it's congressional map.
- 9:50Speaker 3: That's okay with a Justice department.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Why because Republicans California, on the other hand, because it's democratic,
- 9:56Speaker 2: therefore it is illegal. And their argument, their legal argument,
- 10:00Speaker 2: makes no sense whatsoever. Because what the Republicans the Department
- 10:04Speaker 2: of Justice are saying that the independent commission that was
- 10:09Speaker 2: established by law in California has now been undone by
- 10:14Speaker 2: law in California. And what the Department of Justice said,
- 10:18Speaker 2: you can pass legislation that sets up an independent commission,
- 10:22Speaker 2: but you can't do a.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Proposition that goes the other way.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Propositions are illegal unless we agree with them. Stunning, just
- 10:32Speaker 2: absolutely stunning. Why don't you bitch about Texas because Texas,
- 10:36Speaker 2: Texas is a different place. It's totally different, right, Well,
- 10:40Speaker 2: it is a different place. So anyway, it's just it's everything's.
- 10:44Speaker 3: So blatant these days.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Well, they're a judicial order involved in Texas at all.
- 10:49Speaker 2: No, it was a legislature that did it, and they're
- 10:53Speaker 2: allowed to do it legally in Texas and in California,
- 10:58Speaker 2: the legislature was not allowed to read this rage until Prop.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Fifty was passed, and now the legislature is allowed to
- 11:07Speaker 2: do it.
- 11:07Speaker 4: And they're challenging the way they did it. They're saying
- 11:13Speaker 4: that they used racial that it was discriminatory because they
- 11:18Speaker 4: were focusing on Hispanic voters. That's what the lawsuit says.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's it's doesn't make any sense because Texas did exactly
- 11:26Speaker 2: the same thing, and it's it's it's a verdict that.
- 11:29Speaker 2: In other words, they're saying that the politics they didn't
- 11:31Speaker 2: do it based on politics. Think about this for a moment.
- 11:34Speaker 2: It's not really a democratic or Republican move. It really
- 11:38Speaker 2: isn't politics. It's all about racism or racial differentiation.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Do you buy that? Does anybody buy that?
- 11:47Speaker 4: But that's what the lawsuit says.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's going to.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Go no place and no hypocrisy is stunning, And why
- 11:52Speaker 2: didn't Texas do the same thing, because that's the way
- 11:55Speaker 2: it works, is that African Americans are genuinely democrats, Hispanics
- 12:02Speaker 2: to a lesser degree.
- 12:04Speaker 3: And it's.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Doesn't make any sense. And by the way, Turney General
- 12:08Speaker 2: Pam Bondi says, the redistricting scheme is a brazen power
- 12:13Speaker 2: grab that tramples on civil rights and mocks the democratic process. Really,
- 12:19Speaker 2: propositions in California trample on the democratic process. Therefore we
- 12:27Speaker 2: shouldn't have propositions. It just I don't get it.
- 12:30Speaker 4: All right, Show Hey, Otani sure likes winning things. Not
- 12:33Speaker 4: only did he just score back to back World Series,
- 12:35Speaker 4: he's now a back to back MVP. The two way
- 12:39Speaker 4: Star for a second season in a row, won the
- 12:43Speaker 4: National League's Most Valuable Player award. It was a unanimous decision.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Only Barry Bonds has more MVPs than Show Hey. He's
- 12:51Speaker 4: got four so far and he's only thirty one. Sing
- 12:56Speaker 4: about that.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Not much more to say except I have a question.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, has an interpreter with him, He hangs out with interpreter.
- 13:04Speaker 3: How good is his English? I heard a little bit
- 13:06Speaker 3: of his English during the parade during the celebration.
- 13:09Speaker 4: So what I've heard because I haven't had a conversation
- 13:13Speaker 4: with him, but I've heard that he's pretty good, but
- 13:15Speaker 4: he uses the interpreter during interviews because he doesn't want
- 13:18Speaker 4: to screw it up.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Okay, fair enough, all right, So the US has proposed
- 13:26Speaker 5: with everything going on in Gaza and the war and
- 13:30Speaker 5: the battle fatigue of everything, the building, structure, infrastructure, everything's
- 13:36Speaker 5: gone right. So the US comes and says, this is
- 13:40Speaker 5: what we'll do, the Board of Peace, and this will
- 13:43Speaker 5: be a group that oversees the rebuilding and all of
- 13:47Speaker 5: these things, temporarily governing the territory. Well, since this is
- 13:52Speaker 5: going through the UN Security Council, you have the Chinese
- 13:55Speaker 5: and the Russians who are Vito Wilding wielding member.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Of the UN. So it's not going to happen.
- 14:02Speaker 5: So they said, they said no because the Chinese and
- 14:06Speaker 5: the Russians know what's best.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, conversation's over.
- 14:10Speaker 2: With any of the Big Five having complete veto power,
- 14:14Speaker 2: the UN is basically a non entity. It really isn't
- 14:18Speaker 2: the only thing it's good about being a UN members
- 14:20Speaker 2: you don't have to worry about parking tickets in New
- 14:22Speaker 2: York because you have immunity.
- 14:25Speaker 3: That's basically it.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Big win for Bezos did you see this? Yes, spectacular.
- 14:33Speaker 4: The Blue Origin launched its new Glen rocket from Cape
- 14:39Speaker 4: Canaveral on board couple of NASA probes that are headed
- 14:44Speaker 4: towards Mars, although they don't get there until twenty twenty seven.
- 14:47Speaker 4: But the launch was absolutely astounding yesterday. And not only
- 14:53Speaker 4: did they successfully launch this massive rocket, they also landed
- 14:57Speaker 4: it back on the platform. And the SpaceX does it
- 14:59Speaker 4: all the time. Bezos' company hadn't done it yet and
- 15:01Speaker 4: it was just their second try, and they landed on
- 15:03Speaker 4: a platform six hundred kilometers out off the coast in
- 15:08Speaker 4: the ocean. It was spectacular, pressive, spectacular.
- 15:12Speaker 5: And that's the one that looks like a big rank
- 15:14Speaker 5: that looks like what.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Like like a phallis.
- 15:20Speaker 3: No, they all looked like They all look like that.
- 15:23Speaker 2: They all look like that, And it depends on which
- 15:25Speaker 2: companies some like some look like circumcised and some look
- 15:28Speaker 2: like uncircumcised, depending on which company.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Well, anyway, it was a big accomplishment for Bezos.
- 15:37Speaker 3: It was very cool science.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, More strikes killing drug boats. Apparently the
- 15:44Speaker 5: Pentagon conducted its twentieth strike on one of these alleged
- 15:49Speaker 5: drug trafficking boats earlier this week, so says the Defense Department.
- 15:55Speaker 5: The strike occurred in the Caribbean, once again for Narco
- 15:59Speaker 5: teararists were killed, no survivors. Of course, the Trump administration
- 16:05Speaker 5: officials have acknowledged that they don't necessarily know the exact
- 16:08Speaker 5: identities of the individuals, but apparently there is technology that
- 16:13Speaker 5: can from a distance know if there's the presence of
- 16:17Speaker 5: large amounts of drugs.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Oh, I don't think anybody doubts that there are plenty
- 16:23Speaker 2: of drugs aboard those boats. I mean there are cigarette
- 16:27Speaker 2: boats they call them. That they fly along at eighty
- 16:30Speaker 2: miles per hour and that's all they're good for, and
- 16:32Speaker 2: you can actually see the drugs. The issue is the
- 16:35Speaker 2: people that are driving those boats that are considered narco
- 16:40Speaker 2: terrorists by our Defense Department or our War Department.
- 16:44Speaker 3: It is now and I believe this that these are.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Just fishermen and they're citizens that live in these poor villages,
- 16:54Speaker 2: these seaside villages that the Narco terrorists are saying, you're
- 16:57Speaker 2: going to go or they offer them five hundred or
- 17:00Speaker 2: one thousand dollars to do this, and these people are impoverished,
- 17:05Speaker 2: I mean, they can't feed their families and that is
- 17:07Speaker 2: the issue is that the ones that are being targeted,
- 17:12Speaker 2: I mean the ships are being targeted or the boats,
- 17:14Speaker 2: which I'm fine with that. It used to be just interdictions,
- 17:16Speaker 2: coast Guard, the services would go out there and just
- 17:19Speaker 2: stop them and then arrest them and confiscate the drugs
- 17:23Speaker 2: and now you die. And the cost of going after them.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I mean, you know it's aircraft carriers and these huge
- 17:33Speaker 2: drones that cost the fortune.
- 17:36Speaker 5: I would imagine that it's not just about the boats.
- 17:39Speaker 5: It's about setting a precedent in a way that will
- 17:42Speaker 5: hopefully strike fear. That's what roism is.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Noh, I have no doubt. I have no doubt about that.
- 17:47Speaker 2: But who get gets caught in the middle. You can't
- 17:50Speaker 2: call people who are not narco traffic candes, narco traffic cantes.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Well, especially what about if they're doing that with you know,
- 17:58Speaker 5: carrying drugs and just using people. They still get arrested
- 18:02Speaker 5: if you're a drug carrier.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And that's the point is it used to be people
- 18:07Speaker 2: people who did this were arrested when there the interdiction happened.
- 18:12Speaker 2: They were not blown out of the water. That's I
- 18:15Speaker 2: think the controversy. Let's say Imbrie Cartel's Baby.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Sad Day for ABC of Award winning journalist Jim Avila.
- 18:23Speaker 4: He was a senior correspondent for ABC News, a host
- 18:27Speaker 4: of twenty twenty or a correspondent for twenty twenty. Worked
- 18:30Speaker 4: for ABC for seventeen years. He just died after a
- 18:34Speaker 4: long illness. Jim Avila was sixty nine. He apparently died
- 18:38Speaker 4: Wednesday at his home in San Diego.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Not much to say about that. Gummy shame, Yeah, it
- 18:48Speaker 3: is a shame for sure.
- 18:50Speaker 5: THC gummies, drinks and things like that are under looking
- 18:56Speaker 5: down the barrel of a ban. You've got a spending bill,
- 19:01Speaker 5: and this tiny little provision kind of tucked in this
- 19:04Speaker 5: federal spending bill signed by President Trump could upend the
- 19:09Speaker 5: THHC industry. So they're they're allowed to put zero point
- 19:14Speaker 5: four milligrams of THHC per container in things like gummies
- 19:20Speaker 5: and beverage, even topical pain relief.
- 19:23Speaker 3: That's absolutely nothing in the world of THC. I have
- 19:27Speaker 3: no clue.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Well, I'm not an expert at it, but it's for
- 19:31Speaker 2: those people that do take gummies regularly. I don't want
- 19:34Speaker 2: to mention any names, Lindsay and they're.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Wait a second, are those the same as these, or
- 19:41Speaker 5: are there because I've heard some people say they couldn't
- 19:44Speaker 5: need a whole gummy.
- 19:45Speaker 3: They would It depends. It depends on how strong the
- 19:47Speaker 3: gummy is. So these are like skittles. Oh I could.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I don't know. I'd be afraid of that's that's because
- 19:56Speaker 3: of her pain thing.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Because in many cases, THC helps with a lot of
- 20:01Speaker 2: medical issues. Glaucoma, for example, has been forever. It helps
- 20:07Speaker 2: cancer patients, for example, regain their.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Regain their ability to eat. Oh, I thought about it.
- 20:16Speaker 5: It was illegal when my dad was dying and he contemplated,
- 20:21Speaker 5: you know, no, it brings up but so that.
- 20:23Speaker 6: That may upend a lot of that. We'll see how
- 20:25Speaker 6: that turns out.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Overestimated, maybe just a little bit. So there's a judge
- 20:34Speaker 4: who is looking over all the money that's been spent
- 20:37Speaker 4: on homelessness in Los Angeles, and apparently there's a shelter.
- 20:43Speaker 4: It's part of Project Home Key. It was reported that
- 20:47Speaker 4: there were eighty eight beds in that shelter, but then
- 20:51Speaker 4: an inspector went and checked and only found forty four.
- 20:54Speaker 4: So half the rest are just empty platforms. The judge
- 20:58Speaker 4: David oh Harder, during a court hearing on Wednesday, says
- 21:04Speaker 4: I send a little fraud, and he criticized the city
- 21:07Speaker 4: for what he says he perceives as a lack of
- 21:10Speaker 4: curiosity over a huge discrepancy like this.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, how about the suggestion is fraud all over the place. Now,
- 21:17Speaker 2: when you think of homeless shelter, you think of buildings, right,
- 21:21Speaker 2: you think of facilities. This homeless shelter are tents and
- 21:30Speaker 2: in those tents are these beds. But half of those
- 21:33Speaker 2: they don't Those beds don't exist. And this is a
- 21:35Speaker 2: contract that this homeless shelter I has with I think
- 21:41Speaker 2: it's the city of La.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Nobody's watching two point three.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Million dollar contract to provide eighty eight beds and as.
- 21:50Speaker 5: So much money half or not there so much money,
- 21:54Speaker 5: which is why diet a union rescue mission.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, they actually hurt around for a very long
- 22:00Speaker 2: time and they don't pet people into are accountable, all right,
- 22:04Speaker 2: So you go ahead one more and then when in
- 22:06Speaker 2: a bail and it's about the math, not mathing.
- 22:09Speaker 5: California high school graduation rate is up to eighty seven
- 22:14Speaker 5: point five percent. The Hyacinths twenty seventeen. Yay, we're celebrating.
- 22:20Speaker 5: More people are graduating. However, you compare that with the
- 22:25Speaker 5: over fifty percent of graduates not meeting college or career
- 22:30Speaker 5: readiness standards, meaning the basics.
- 22:33Speaker 2: So what does that tell you? What does that tell
- 22:36Speaker 2: you straight out.
- 22:37Speaker 5: That we're giving people, we're graduating people that are not
- 22:40Speaker 5: equipped with.
- 22:41Speaker 3: That is exactly correct, yeat.
- 22:43Speaker 2: The requirements to graduate are dropping, dropping, dropping. When I
- 22:48Speaker 2: went to high school, they would fail you. You didn't
- 22:51Speaker 2: graduate unless you made quote the grade, unless you know.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I almost didn't graduate. Now it's impossible not to graduate.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Well, if you're willing to, if you're willing to sit
- 23:03Speaker 2: in college, if you're willing to exactly, if you're willing
- 23:06Speaker 2: to stay in school, you're graduating. What's it.
- 23:10Speaker 3: You're done and you become a high school graduate.
- 23:13Speaker 4: It's like a participation trophy.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, yes, well said.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Every wonder why we're seeing so many bears and lions
- 23:21Speaker 4: and run ins figers, well not tiger's luckily. Researchers in
- 23:27Speaker 4: California say it's because of climate change. They say an
- 23:30Speaker 4: increase in human wildlife conflict due to prolonged climate exacerbated
- 23:36Speaker 4: drought conditions. They say that when the weather's really dry,
- 23:41Speaker 4: then there are more interactions between especially mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats,
- 23:48Speaker 4: and people.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Human wildlife interactions is basically a euphemism for people getting
- 23:54Speaker 2: eaten by these animals.
- 23:56Speaker 3: That's the bottom line.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Well, like there was the parking Orange County last week
- 24:00Speaker 4: where there was a couple of mountain lions sightings and
- 24:02Speaker 4: they were saying that one mountain lion was stalking a
- 24:05Speaker 4: couple of bicyclists.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Mountain lions are not fine.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I mean when you have bobcats, right, those yeah, those
- 24:13Speaker 2: are fun there. I've seen a couple of them and
- 24:15Speaker 2: they are the size of a medium sized dog and they're,
- 24:18Speaker 2: you know, kind of cute and fine.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Mountain lions. No, No, your breakfast for a mountain lion.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Here's a crap out of me.
- 24:26Speaker 5: All righty, Fanny May officials, This is a little weird,
- 24:30Speaker 5: but it's they're kind of doing an investigation here.
- 24:34Speaker 3: You've got Bill Pollute. Is that pronounce his name? I
- 24:39Speaker 3: think it's Pulta Pulte.
- 24:41Speaker 5: He's the Trump administration's top housing regulator. But they're they're
- 24:47Speaker 5: looking at this kind of confidential mortgage pricing data going
- 24:51Speaker 5: back and forth between Fanny May to a principal competitor.
- 24:56Speaker 5: And the only reason this would be going back in,
- 24:59Speaker 5: the reason why it's setting off alarms is.
- 25:02Speaker 3: That this could cause colluding and.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Collusion because you've got you've got Freddie Mack, you've got
- 25:11Speaker 2: Fanny Made. These are separate organizations. And the art and
- 25:14Speaker 2: the accusation here is he took information from one and
- 25:17Speaker 2: gave it to the other.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And that would be which is unknown? Right, I saw
- 25:22Speaker 3: a price fixed. It's just for racious information.
- 25:25Speaker 2: It's like, well, here's the analogy secret bids, right, you
- 25:32Speaker 2: tell what you're bidding, is uh, and the person taking
- 25:35Speaker 2: the bids actually sneaks the bidding information to a competitor.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I think that's the analogy here.
- 25:43Speaker 4: And Camelot lives. Jack Schlossberg, he's going to have to
- 25:49Speaker 4: change his name is the grandson of former President John F.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Kennedy has announced that he is running for Congress in
- 25:55Speaker 4: twenty twenty six. He's actually going after Representative Jerry Nadler seat,
- 26:00Speaker 4: which is New York's twelfth congressional district, because Nadler announced
- 26:04Speaker 4: earlier this year that he is not running for reelection.
- 26:06Speaker 3: And Nadler is a real power in the House.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I mean, he's part of leadership, or at least in
- 26:12Speaker 2: the upper upper echelons of the powerful Congress people. So
- 26:17Speaker 2: we'll see how he does, my guests, he's probably gonna win.
- 26:21Speaker 2: And then finally, Oh, what a story this one is.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Oh so Lady Gaga revealed she experienced a psychotic breakdown.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Strangely enough, and she's thirty nine year old years old,
- 26:33Speaker 5: but strangely enough, it came like during a massive high
- 26:37Speaker 5: point when she was doing A Star Is Born and
- 26:41Speaker 5: her song was in the category for Oscar, which she won,
- 26:49Speaker 5: but she was on lithium and apparently she has called
- 26:53Speaker 5: off a couple of concerts and things like that, and
- 26:57Speaker 5: she was in a really scary place. This comes from
- 27:01Speaker 5: a Rolling Stone interview. She's since come out of that
- 27:05Speaker 5: and feels that she is a healthy, whole person. But
- 27:08Speaker 5: can you imagine the pressure of being having that kind
- 27:11Speaker 5: of talent and everybody staring at you and all those things,
- 27:15Speaker 5: And we kind of think, well.
- 27:16Speaker 2: They're used to being stared at, I mean, rock stars,
- 27:19Speaker 2: you know, they sort of revel in this for the
- 27:21Speaker 2: most part. But that's that's kind of interesting that she
- 27:24Speaker 2: admitted that, I mean, good for her. Also, anytime we
- 27:27Speaker 2: mentioned A Star is Born, I, of course I have
- 27:29Speaker 2: to interject with that A Star is Born is also
- 27:33Speaker 2: the most popular film in Sweden, always has been, and
- 27:38Speaker 2: there it's called A Star is Bjorn. I have to
- 27:42Speaker 2: do that every single time. I cannot control myself.
- 27:46Speaker 6: How come I don't know that one? After thirty years.
- 27:49Speaker 5: I've heard every job, all three of your jokes, your word,
- 27:52Speaker 5: over and over.
- 27:54Speaker 3: God, that one I don't know that I've heard. Wow, Okay,
- 27:59Speaker 3: those times.
- 28:00Speaker 6: With Rex the Wonderhorse.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Okay, this is KF I am sixty. You've been listening
- 28:06Speaker 3: to the Bill Handle Show.
