- 0:17Speaker 1: Good morning. We've made it to Friday again, and we're
- 0:21Speaker 1: getting ready for our Front Porch Friday edition this morning.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Pray you had a great week. Hope you've enjoyed the
- 0:28Speaker 1: devotions that we have had on the subject of mercy.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I pray that you can take those things with you
- 0:34Speaker 1: as you go into the next week or the next
- 0:37Speaker 1: season of your life. And just constantly pause and just
- 0:41Speaker 1: thank the Lord for His tender mercy and grace upon
- 0:43Speaker 1: our lives. Very important. This morning we go to Galatians
- 0:47Speaker 1: chapter 6 and verse number 10. And I just got
- 0:50Speaker 1: to thinking about this morning how we're all connected. And
- 0:54Speaker 1: even before the digital age, the technology age where we
- 0:58Speaker 1: all come together like we are now. or just through
- 1:01Speaker 1: all these different medias, we were still all connected in
- 1:05Speaker 1: some way. And I caught myself saying something the other
- 1:09Speaker 1: day that I thought to myself, where did I get
- 1:12Speaker 1: that from? Where did I learn that? And then I
- 1:15Speaker 1: realized I'd heard it from someone else years ago. And
- 1:19Speaker 1: somehow that saying had worked its way into my everyday
- 1:24Speaker 1: conversation without me really even noticing it. And so in
- 1:28Speaker 1: Galatians chapter 6 this morning, verse number 10, the Word
- 1:31Speaker 1: of God says this, As we have therefore opportunity, let
- 1:36Speaker 1: us do good unto all men, especially unto them who
- 1:41Speaker 1: are of the household of faith. We pick up more
- 1:48Speaker 1: from each other than we think we do. As we
- 1:50Speaker 1: go through life, we pick up certain habits or certain
- 1:53Speaker 1: traits or Maybe the way we walk or the way
- 1:56Speaker 1: we talk kind of resembles somebody in our family. Or
- 1:59Speaker 1: maybe it's a favorite expression or a way of making
- 2:02Speaker 1: somebody feel good that we've picked up along the way.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Around this area, we have a habit of waving at
- 2:09Speaker 1: every car that goes down our country road, whether we
- 2:11Speaker 1: know who's driving it or not. Those are just things
- 2:14Speaker 1: we kind of pick up over the years. Some things
- 2:17Speaker 1: are taught to us on purpose, but others simply become
- 2:20Speaker 1: part of who we are. Because of the time we
- 2:24Speaker 1: spend with someone else. That's how we kind of are
- 2:27Speaker 1: all connected. And that got me thinking about how many
- 2:31Speaker 1: lives go into making one life. Think about that this morning.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Each and every one of us are a product of
- 2:39Speaker 1: all the different lives that have been invested into us.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Somebody may have showed you how to do a job.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Somebody taught us maybe how to laugh instead of being
- 2:50Speaker 1: so serious all the time. Somebody was patient with us
- 2:55Speaker 1: while we tried to figure things out and that made
- 2:57Speaker 1: an impact on our lives. But the truth is, along
- 3:00Speaker 1: the way, those influences become part of how we live
- 3:05Speaker 1: our life and how we treat other people. And it
- 3:09Speaker 1: just keeps going and going and going on. If you're
- 3:14Speaker 1: a good listener this morning, maybe it's because someone taught
- 3:17Speaker 1: you by listening to you when you needed an ear.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Now a person going through a difficult time, they feel
- 3:25Speaker 1: heard and they feel respected because you stopped long enough
- 3:28Speaker 1: to give them your attention. How did you learn that?
- 3:31Speaker 1: Perhaps someone once made room for you at their table
- 3:36Speaker 1: to listen. And now you're the one pulling up a
- 3:39Speaker 1: chair and lending an ear. See how that works? We
- 3:42Speaker 1: all learn things from each other. We may never see
- 3:46Speaker 1: how far those moments travel through our lives. The person
- 3:49Speaker 1: we encourage today might offer the same encouragement to someone
- 3:53Speaker 1: else years from now. And before long, a kindness that
- 3:57Speaker 1: started with one person is now passed through several different lives.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And God knows the whole story, even when we just
- 4:06Speaker 1: see a small part. And that's why a lot of
- 4:10Speaker 1: times when I'm having to do funeral services or things
- 4:13Speaker 1: of that nature, I always try to make sure I
- 4:17Speaker 1: impart upon the family that just because someone passes on
- 4:21Speaker 1: from this life to the next, part of them lives
- 4:25Speaker 1: on in each and every one of us because of
- 4:29Speaker 1: the impact they've made upon our lives. It gives us
- 4:32Speaker 1: a reason to pay attention to the ordinary opportunities and
- 4:36Speaker 1: the ordinary moments that are in front of you right now,
- 4:40Speaker 1: this moment. We don't have to make a speech or
- 4:44Speaker 1: do something grand to make an impact. We can simply
- 4:48Speaker 1: share what we know Give someone a second chance or
- 4:52Speaker 1: stay just a few minutes longer when they need to talk. See,
- 4:55Speaker 1: those little simple ways are doing good when you have
- 5:00Speaker 1: the opportunity to do so, like the Apostle Paul was
- 5:02Speaker 1: writing here in Galatians. So let me ask you something
- 5:06Speaker 1: different this morning on our Front Porch Friday. What's a
- 5:10Speaker 1: saying or a habit or just a little bit of
- 5:13Speaker 1: wisdom that you picked up from someone else? It can
- 5:17Speaker 1: be meaningful or it can be funny. Or it can
- 5:20Speaker 1: be both. But I sure would enjoy reading and hearing
- 5:23Speaker 1: about that in our comments today. You might discover that
- 5:27Speaker 1: a few of us have learned some of the same
- 5:29Speaker 1: things in life even though we're miles apart. Our lives
- 5:33Speaker 1: are connected in more ways than we fully understand. And
- 5:37Speaker 1: I'm so grateful this morning for the people whose lives
- 5:41Speaker 1: have touched mine. And I hope in some simple small
- 5:45Speaker 1: way that I have passed those along to others who
- 5:49Speaker 1: and did good to them, just like it was done
- 5:53Speaker 1: to me. So before I go, I'm glad to also
- 5:56Speaker 1: share that a new collection of songs will be released
- 5:59Speaker 1: on November 1st. It'll be on all the usual streaming platforms,
- 6:03Speaker 1: so if you've listened to some of the other albums
- 6:06Speaker 1: and collections that we put out, this next one will
- 6:09Speaker 1: be coming out November 1st. I hope you'll give it
- 6:12Speaker 1: a listen. I hope it'll bless your heart. It's entitled,
- 6:15Speaker 1: When the Morning Comes. So today, be safe. You be
- 6:18Speaker 1: strong and you be blessed. Have a great weekend. And
- 6:21Speaker 1: Lord's will, we'll gather back here again on Monday. Have
- 6:25Speaker 1: a great day.
