- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:09Speaker 1: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 2: He was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Wow that Prime Time. Maybe I had a crush on
- 0:18Speaker 1: Betty Rubbell. I honestly, until after the segment ended and
- 0:22Speaker 1: we went to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan
- 0:24Speaker 1: Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 3: You're listening to Stu Gottson Company, Ster Goattson Company presented
- 0:33Speaker 3: by FANDUL on the PANDUL Sportsbook.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Mike Golig Senior is with us.
- 0:36Speaker 3: He is headed out to his charity golf tournament, his
- 0:39Speaker 3: annual charity golf tournament today. I mean he is looking good.
- 0:44Speaker 3: He is looking thin, he's got a golf shirt on.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Mike Golett Junior set them all up, so no technical problems.
- 0:51Speaker 2: You were looking good, Mike.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Did you guys not get the invitation? I was expecting
- 0:55Speaker 4: the guys to be here. I did. Did Did they
- 0:57Speaker 4: get lost?
- 0:58Speaker 5: Well?
- 0:58Speaker 4: What's going on? Yeah?
- 0:59Speaker 2: You know better than to invite us?
- 1:01Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I wanted to run smoothly.
- 1:06Speaker 6: Did you send it with the same carrier that stull
- 1:08Speaker 6: sends my checks to?
- 1:10Speaker 4: Pretty much?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Mike, he is going to keep making that joke, even
- 1:14Speaker 2: though I pay him every two fucking weeks. He's going
- 1:17Speaker 2: to keep making that joke. Yeah, two weeks the only
- 1:22Speaker 2: joke he's gotten his arm, Michael, is that.
- 1:25Speaker 4: A loose two weeks?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Two weeks, it's a loose. It's a lose two weeks
- 1:30Speaker 3: if I'm being honest. But he's still going to keep
- 1:34Speaker 3: making the same dance.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes, yeah, no, we're getting ready to go
- 1:38Speaker 4: a lot of We teamed up with the Legacy weekend
- 1:42Speaker 4: for the spring game for Notre Dame, and there's gonna
- 1:44Speaker 4: be a few hundred former players here as well. So yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 4: big big golf tournament, big golf day of crappy golf.
- 1:52Speaker 2: It was a big night for Taylor last night. This
- 1:54Speaker 2: is special.
- 1:55Speaker 3: He was invited to participate in the draft and watch
- 2:00Speaker 3: a draft with both Chris and Phil Sims.
- 2:03Speaker 2: How about that?
- 2:04Speaker 4: Really? How did that come about? Did you win a
- 2:06Speaker 4: win a charity auction or something?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Well that Sims is my friend. Then we asked them,
- 2:10Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I just.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Invided myself like oh gotcha? Okay, one of those where
- 2:15Speaker 4: it was a begrudgingly asking you, huh.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yes, we do to you.
- 2:20Speaker 3: But so, Mike, you know how we talk about the
- 2:24Speaker 3: big bars for Halloween for candy, you know right, you
- 2:28Speaker 3: love the big bars. They had boxes of big bars,
- 2:30Speaker 3: just boxes of big bars. And at one point I
- 2:34Speaker 3: text Taylor, Hey, how is Phil doing? And Phil sitting
- 2:38Speaker 3: next to all the big bars? And what is Phil leading?
- 2:40Speaker 3: And what does Taylor respond? Carrots and a diet coke.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Seriously, I mean, you know, it's like it's like Halloween
- 2:49Speaker 4: when when people give out pennies or raisins or a
- 2:52Speaker 4: toothbrush on Halloween. It's one fucking day. It's one day.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Eat the candy, right, you got you got the candy
- 2:58Speaker 4: to celebrate the draft, freaking candy. He's not gonna kill
- 3:01Speaker 4: you one day.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Phil having Garretts I loved.
- 3:05Speaker 7: I love that draft experience because instead of when a
- 3:08Speaker 7: pick would be made, hearing ESPN's breakdown, I would hear
- 3:12Speaker 7: Chris Simms's breakdown, and I also heard Chris Simms's breakdowns
- 3:16Speaker 7: leading up to the picks and stue. My favorite part
- 3:19Speaker 7: was from the fourth pick on every time a team
- 3:24Speaker 7: was said the pick is in. Simms would go, this
- 3:27Speaker 7: has to be Sonny Styles. He had four, five, he
- 3:30Speaker 7: said it picked six, and then he said it picked seven.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 7: And then when he when Sonny Styles was the pick
- 3:35Speaker 7: for Washington at seven, he turned to somebody and said, I.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Told you it was.
- 3:40Speaker 7: And I was like, ha could say that for twenty
- 3:43Speaker 7: five minutes.
- 3:43Speaker 2: He was bound to get it right.
- 3:45Speaker 3: And so when he eventually did get it right, when
- 3:47Speaker 3: he did, Is turned and said, I told you.
- 3:48Speaker 4: So, Yeah, that's how you do it. That's right.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yes, I'm so proud of him. I've never been proud
- 3:57Speaker 2: of him.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Prince Simms, Mike, it was interesting last night you had
- 4:02Speaker 3: four of the first eleven picks from Ohio State. I
- 4:04Speaker 3: guess that's why Ryan Day keeps saying, Hey, you want
- 4:07Speaker 3: to come here, you better be a first or second
- 4:09Speaker 3: round pick. Ohio State has really turned into like an
- 4:12Speaker 3: NFL factory. It's incredible, oh it is.
- 4:15Speaker 4: And by the way, there, this used to be kind
- 4:18Speaker 4: of Alabama, right, be close to winning the title every
- 4:21Speaker 4: year and then sending guys to the draft. Now it's
- 4:24Speaker 4: Ohio State. I mean again. I saw a couple of
- 4:28Speaker 4: players who were drafted later and from Ohio State, and
- 4:31Speaker 4: they're like, hey, we still kind of made it even
- 4:34Speaker 4: though we weren't the first round or two, kind of
- 4:36Speaker 4: taking a shot at Ryan Day. But listen, they get
- 4:40Speaker 4: some of the best talent in the country, without question,
- 4:43Speaker 4: and they they there's some teams you know that that
- 4:47Speaker 4: with the portal. They minor in the portal. They don't
- 4:50Speaker 4: major in the portal. Right, so you still have your recruits. Now,
- 4:54Speaker 4: you'll lose some recruits obviously over the years, but they
- 4:57Speaker 4: still they don't wholesale swap their teams, right.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I can't believe I'm saying this. I can't believe I'm
- 5:04Speaker 3: thinking this. I can't believe Taylor agrees with me. I'm
- 5:07Speaker 3: certain Mikey a does not. He was very bitter last night. Again,
- 5:12Speaker 3: I can't believe I'm saying this.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I like what the Jets did last night, Mike I do.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I mean, tell me I'm wrong, You're wrong. I'm not
- 5:21Speaker 2: you going, Oh.
- 5:23Speaker 4: So, Mikey, Yeah, you don't like what the Jets did?
- 5:26Speaker 6: Now I don't. I don't at all. I think I
- 5:29Speaker 6: think they swung and miss three times.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Oh geez, really, what why?
- 5:36Speaker 4: I like what they've done. I think Cooper I like
- 5:40Speaker 4: Coop Road to Indiana could be a good slot guy. Right.
- 5:44Speaker 2: They trained it up into the first round to get him.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, obviously you got the pass rusher in Bailey,
- 5:49Speaker 4: and that's who I would have taken, you know, in
- 5:51Speaker 4: the mock drafts that everybody does. Now, Bailey and r
- 5:54Speaker 4: Vel Reachu was kind of you know who six and
- 5:58Speaker 4: one a half dozen the other. But I liked Bailey
- 6:01Speaker 4: a little bit more. And what what do you not
- 6:04Speaker 4: love about Sadiq?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:06Speaker 4: Oh my god, I mean that dude is a weapon.
- 6:10Speaker 4: You got you got him last year. You got him
- 6:12Speaker 4: last year.
- 6:12Speaker 6: And Mason Taylor in the second round, and I do
- 6:15Speaker 6: not try.
- 6:18Speaker 4: He had some he had some.
- 6:20Speaker 6: He had some minor injuries this year, but I mean
- 6:22Speaker 6: in a four win team who didn't have minor injuries.
- 6:26Speaker 6: It was it was simply that it seemed like they
- 6:29Speaker 6: let analytics do it.
- 6:30Speaker 4: They outthought the room.
- 6:32Speaker 6: They they're gonna take two tight ends in the top
- 6:34Speaker 6: two rounds of two back to back drafts. And I
- 6:38Speaker 6: don't trust anybody in that organization.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Any of this. That's the problem.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Are they gonna take it anyone last night and he
- 6:46Speaker 3: would have That's the difference.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Who would you have taken Mike who.
- 6:50Speaker 6: I would have I would have taken r V L.
- 6:51Speaker 6: Reves because I think David Bailey was to save my
- 6:53Speaker 6: job pick. I think rvel Reese has a much higher ceiling.
- 6:57Speaker 6: I think David Bailey is the guy that you can
- 6:59Speaker 6: put in right now and go, please get us some
- 7:01Speaker 6: sacks there, please. So I think that was a panic move.
- 7:05Speaker 6: I think that was a please save my job and
- 7:07Speaker 6: make us look better. I would have taken the Bolitnikoff
- 7:10Speaker 6: winner from two years ago, Maleki Makay Lemon when he
- 7:13Speaker 6: was sitting there for.
- 7:14Speaker 2: You, because you have a gaping hole at.
- 7:17Speaker 6: Your number two wide receiver spot, and they took a
- 7:20Speaker 6: tight end and then you took it. You took a
- 7:22Speaker 6: nice slot guy, you know, trading back up. And I
- 7:26Speaker 6: like Denzel Boston a lot more than I like Omar Cooper.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Really, I think Denzel I think Omar Cooper was underrated,
- 7:34Speaker 4: quite honestly. I loved him a play in the slot.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I think Sadiq is a monster. Way you look at
- 7:42Speaker 4: the way tight ends are used in the NFL, you
- 7:45Speaker 4: look at brock Bauers again, not the blocking type, but
- 7:48Speaker 4: more of the receiving type, and you're getting more NFL
- 7:51Speaker 4: teams with two tight ends, one that can block a
- 7:54Speaker 4: little more on pass catch in the other, which is pure.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I mean he is a mismatch on on defendive defensive
- 8:02Speaker 4: players that normally cover tight ends. He is a mismatch. Yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 4: I love Sadik.
- 8:09Speaker 3: There were people Mikey who told us the upside on
- 8:11Speaker 3: Sadiq was he could be.
- 8:12Speaker 2: The best player in the draft five years from now.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I mean, I mean they said that. It was my God.
- 8:18Speaker 2: It's not god.
- 8:18Speaker 4: I mean I would never put a I never put
- 8:21Speaker 4: a shirt on again if I were him smoked.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Why if you look like.
- 8:27Speaker 4: The way you're looking either. No, No, the shirt hides
- 8:31Speaker 4: a lot to believe me, Sadik doesn't need a shirt.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I mean, dude is just stoked.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I mean, I love Mikey a turning into fucking mel
- 8:39Speaker 3: kiper junior. Hie, you're just listening. I understand it. I'm
- 8:44Speaker 3: with you. I've been a Jeff fan for forty years.
- 8:46Speaker 3: You don't trust anyone making the decisions, but it's hard
- 8:49Speaker 3: to say you don't like any of the three picks
- 8:51Speaker 3: they made last night, ridiculously mad.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Three better picks.
- 8:54Speaker 3: What but Mike, you're not a fucking GM you don't
- 8:57Speaker 3: evaluate talent.
- 8:58Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 9:00Speaker 4: Neither do they. I think I think that's the issue,
- 9:06Speaker 4: is just it's the Jets making the pick, so you
- 9:10Speaker 4: automatically go to the glass cracked, not the no.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I think I've done ten drafts with him. He's never
- 9:16Speaker 3: come away happy from the Jets draft. Last year, he
- 9:19Speaker 3: wasn't happy with Mason Taylor.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Now he's not happy with the d I didn't.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Hate Mason Taylor, and I liked and I like the
- 9:26Speaker 6: Membu pick.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Okay, well, congratulations, you like boy.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 7: So Stu Sim's analysis from the bar from the barn
- 9:36Speaker 7: was they got three guys that should be able to
- 9:39Speaker 7: help them right away. And he doesn't think that the
- 9:41Speaker 7: Jets are AFC East Division winners, But the way he
- 9:46Speaker 7: was talking was like, if these guys come in and
- 9:49Speaker 7: hit right away, there's a chance for the Jets to
- 9:52Speaker 7: make some noise in the AFC. And Omar Cooper Junior
- 9:55Speaker 7: playing in New York City.
- 9:57Speaker 3: O cj OCJ listen good, attempt to excited.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Good in Baylor, in uh In Bailey and Sadik. You
- 10:07Speaker 4: have two two big play potential guys and a Cooper.
- 10:12Speaker 4: You have a steady guy who's who when it's third
- 10:14Speaker 4: and six is going to get you seven or more.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I like them now. Listen, they have a ton of
- 10:19Speaker 4: holes and they're not going to compete this year. But
- 10:21Speaker 4: I I like the young foundation there.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I think Mikey is really coming from the standpoint it
- 10:26Speaker 3: doesn't matter who we take last night, Geno quarterback.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah, understand it now I get Yeah, yeah, we have
- 10:33Speaker 4: to wait till we're pastor Gino Smith era. Yeah yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 4: we have to go to the Ty Simpson era and
- 10:38Speaker 4: the Rams.
- 10:39Speaker 3: H Mike so, uh, your guy, Jeremiah Love, Notre Dame
- 10:42Speaker 3: running back goes to Arizona. My only concern there. I
- 10:45Speaker 3: know how great of a player he is. My concern
- 10:48Speaker 3: is that team is so bad. Well, he might get
- 10:51Speaker 3: the ball five hundred times.
- 10:52Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, look what happened Ashton genty. You
- 10:55Speaker 4: know we went to the Raiders. They struggling the old line.
- 10:58Speaker 4: If you're picking high, you're a bad team and you
- 11:00Speaker 4: got to go through the growing pain. So they have
- 11:03Speaker 4: to they have to help on the O line, without question.
- 11:07Speaker 4: But I mean that's what bad teams do. They pick.
- 11:09Speaker 4: They pick game changing players, and Love is he's not
- 11:13Speaker 4: a normal running back. He can run, he can go
- 11:15Speaker 4: in the slot, he can be a wide receiver. And oh,
- 11:17Speaker 4: by the way, the most thing not talked about the
- 11:20Speaker 4: most with running backs. He can block, he can pick
- 11:24Speaker 4: up a blitz. He is an easy three down back.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Uh So, I mean I I think it was a
- 11:29Speaker 4: great pick. But yeah, just like Gentis struggled with the
- 11:32Speaker 4: Raiders at times, Jeremiah Love, he may have to make
- 11:35Speaker 4: his own holes or do his own thing, but he's
- 11:37Speaker 4: a he could be the best player in the track.
- 11:39Speaker 4: And then to have Dadarian Price go thirty two, so yeah, yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 4: the first round as well for a guy who didn't
- 11:46Speaker 4: play as much. Obviously, they split time, but Love got
- 11:49Speaker 4: more of the time.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So there are teams that are bad that take someone
- 11:52Speaker 3: like Love. I know he's going to be a great player,
- 11:54Speaker 3: but they take him at three. And then there are
- 11:57Speaker 3: teams who win the Super Bowl, get rid of the
- 11:59Speaker 3: Super Bowl, trade him away, get them away to the
- 12:03Speaker 3: Kansas City Chiefs, and take the running back from Notre
- 12:06Speaker 3: Dame that no one's ever heard of.
- 12:07Speaker 2: That's a Super Bowl winning team.
- 12:09Speaker 4: While Love initially is going to make more money than Price,
- 12:14Speaker 4: obviously the third pick to the thirty second pick, Price
- 12:17Speaker 4: is in a much better situation. I mean, oh my god.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I mean he's got to be like, are you kidding me?
- 12:24Speaker 4: I just hit the lottery.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Yes, so Stu from The Barn, Sims was going over
- 12:30Speaker 5: who the Seahawks could pick there, yeah, and his co
- 12:34Speaker 5: host on on but Connor Rodgers. By the way, Connor
- 12:37Speaker 5: Rodgers might have been my biggest winner of the night.
- 12:39Speaker 2: That guy. He's good, Yeah, he's good. Yeah.
- 12:43Speaker 7: So Sims was going through who the Seahawks should pick,
- 12:46Speaker 7: and Connor Rodgers just stopped him and said, how about
- 12:49Speaker 7: Genarian Price? And Sims said, I don't know if the
- 12:52Speaker 7: Seahawks have the balls to do that, and then they
- 12:55Speaker 7: showed they have the balls to I don't.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Think Sim's and the balls styles there.
- 13:02Speaker 4: I mean, again, you got rid of the Super Bowl
- 13:04Speaker 4: MVP and Kenneth Walker. I mean you so you had
- 13:07Speaker 4: a hole there, man, I mean I know, I know
- 13:11Speaker 4: they signed a couple of running backs in free agency,
- 13:13Speaker 4: but nobody who was really going to take the spot. Oh,
- 13:16Speaker 4: by the way, Price can return kicks as well.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yeah, Mike.
- 13:22Speaker 6: We talked about the worst picks in the draft with
- 13:24Speaker 6: the Jets. But I want to get to the second
- 13:26Speaker 6: worst pick in the draft. I go do it and
- 13:28Speaker 6: ask you about the Rams using their one first round pick,
- 13:32Speaker 6: their gifted first round pick in the top thirteen to.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Go get a guy who is it going to help
- 13:37Speaker 2: you this year? Wait?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Hold on, Simpson, let me ask it this way, okay,
- 13:41Speaker 3: because a lot of people are praising the Rams for
- 13:44Speaker 3: making that pick even though they're in win now mode,
- 13:47Speaker 3: but they're always thinking about the future.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Let me let me put it this way.
- 13:51Speaker 3: If the Jets went up, if it was anyone but
- 13:53Speaker 3: Sean McVay who made that pick, would it be as
- 13:56Speaker 3: popular as it's been.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Did you see the post draft presser? That's what I
- 14:04Speaker 4: would say. I mean, like he was given one word.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Answers talked about how he'll compete with Stepson for the
- 14:11Speaker 4: back he did. He was normally he's giddy after a draft.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Stu dude looked like somebody he had sour milk in
- 14:20Speaker 4: his cereal. It was.
- 14:21Speaker 3: It was stunning, really because it's like, wait, well, hold on,
- 14:25Speaker 3: I just figure that him and less Sneve were always
- 14:27Speaker 3: on the same end.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Oh no, I mean, I think just what Mike Yea said,
- 14:32Speaker 4: and I think what every every person is saying. You're
- 14:35Speaker 4: in win now mode. You and Seattle were the two
- 14:38Speaker 4: best teams in the league last year. That could have
- 14:41Speaker 4: been the Super Bowl, the NFC title game, and so
- 14:45Speaker 4: get somebody that helps. Now I'm not sold on ty
- 14:50Speaker 4: Simpson even be in the future quarterback of this team.
- 14:53Speaker 4: So you take him when you picking thirteen.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I mean, I.
- 15:00Speaker 3: This is a rare case where it would have made
- 15:01Speaker 3: more sense for the Jets to do it.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Yeah, how about it? I mean, but I mean now
- 15:07Speaker 4: now they're they're doing the Ty Simpson thing the right
- 15:09Speaker 4: way do I still am hung on he only had
- 15:12Speaker 4: fifteen starts. He's got to wait. I know other analysts
- 15:16Speaker 4: and like, oh, he's a great passer, he struggled towards
- 15:19Speaker 4: the end of the year. All this blah blah blah
- 15:21Speaker 4: blah breaking down the stuff. I get it, But the
- 15:24Speaker 4: fifteen starts kind of hangs there. So you knew he
- 15:27Speaker 4: shouldn't start right away and he won't obviously, But at
- 15:31Speaker 4: the thirteenth pick of the draft, you are saying, Ty Simpson,
- 15:35Speaker 4: you are the future quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams
- 15:39Speaker 4: and Stu you got to go on online, yeah and
- 15:42Speaker 4: watch McVeigh. I mean it is eye opening.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Right, what if less Snead well, I guess McVeigh would
- 15:50Speaker 3: know it as well.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Staff retiring in a year, right, it seems.
- 15:53Speaker 4: I mean McVeigh would know that. I mean McVeigh without
- 15:59Speaker 4: a doubt, without a doubt. I was stunned at his reaction.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Plus you have to make that uncomfortable call to Matthew
- 16:06Speaker 3: Stafford and explain.
- 16:07Speaker 4: It, you know well, and they did. They did talk
- 16:10Speaker 4: to Stafford before and tell them we're going to do
- 16:12Speaker 4: it all right. As long as Stafford's playing the way
- 16:14Speaker 4: Stafford is, He's got nothing to worry about. He'll plays.
- 16:16Speaker 4: I mean, this could be a like a you know,
- 16:19Speaker 4: I'm not gonna sit there and say Brett fav Aaron
- 16:21Speaker 4: Rodgers because there are two Hall of Famers. But for
- 16:24Speaker 4: the time that Aaron Rodgers had to sit, I simply
- 16:27Speaker 4: could be sitting that long.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I gotta tell you this McVeigh needs to get over himself.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I mean, he has no idea. What if Stafford does
- 16:32Speaker 3: retire in a year and this guy turns into something
- 16:34Speaker 3: that's close to Matthew Stafford, is he gonna you know that,
- 16:37Speaker 3: he's gonna praise Lessted.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I mean enough, that's what the.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Rams are banking on. But I think McVeigh was like, listen,
- 16:43Speaker 4: our window is open right now.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yes, of course, let's.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Let's get somebody who can make an impact and not
- 16:48Speaker 4: somebody who is going to be holding a clipboard.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Yes, they were play away from the Super Bowl last year.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, and you didn't help yourself at pick thirteen
- 16:57Speaker 4: for this year.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Well, if Stafford gets hurt, yeah, well.
- 17:01Speaker 4: I mean what like McVeigh said, he'll compete with Stepson
- 17:05Speaker 4: for the backup. Might not be the backup. We have
- 17:09Speaker 4: no idea what he's going to do. Could be great,
- 17:12Speaker 4: could not.

- 19:10Speaker 7: Mike, what did you think about the Giants using their
- 19:13Speaker 7: two first round picks, their two top ten picks, one
- 19:15Speaker 7: getting Rvel Reeves, who if it didn't really seem like
- 19:19Speaker 7: he would have felled to them at five, and then
- 19:21Speaker 7: them kind of shoring up that offensive line with Maui Noah, oh.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I again, I love I love their multiple picks. I
- 19:28Speaker 4: like the Jets multiple picks. I like the Browns multiple picks.
- 19:31Speaker 4: I think the teams helped themselves and Arvel Reese. You know,
- 19:36Speaker 4: I had Bailey over Reese, but just kind of ya
- 19:39Speaker 4: a hair. Reese is a little more versatile. He can
- 19:42Speaker 4: play off ball, He can be an edge guy as well,
- 19:45Speaker 4: and they needed help on that old line. Now, No,
- 19:51Speaker 4: he could, he could play the right tackle, he could
- 19:53Speaker 4: kick down to guard. You have obviously a good left
- 19:55Speaker 4: tackle already, so it'll be interesting where he ends up
- 20:00Speaker 4: at right tackle or or or guard. But he's a
- 20:03Speaker 4: he's a fricking tank, Yeah he is. He is a
- 20:08Speaker 4: hell of an offensive lineman who's been highly rated since
- 20:11Speaker 4: high school. Uh so, no, I I like both their picks.
- 20:15Speaker 6: With Brian Burns Thibodeau a dual carter and now rbl Reese.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Should any team be able.
- 20:22Speaker 6: To ever pass the ball against the Giants, should the
- 20:27Speaker 6: quarterback just fall down?
- 20:29Speaker 4: I mean that that's that's the way Harball likes to
- 20:31Speaker 4: go line D line right right right up the spine
- 20:35Speaker 4: or or or the big guys the old line and
- 20:37Speaker 4: D line. So he got what he wanted. So yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 4: I mean that's that's one of the things that you
- 20:42Speaker 4: want to do. You want to put pressure on the quarterback,
- 20:45Speaker 4: and then you want to protect your quarterback. So I
- 20:47Speaker 4: I definitely think they handled their business pretty well.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Mikey A looks like it appears that our boys, Spags
- 20:53Speaker 3: walked into Andy Reid's office gold Egs boy and said, hey, Andy,
- 20:57Speaker 3: get me some fucking players, because Andy, eating the cheese,
- 21:00Speaker 3: went out and got Spags a couple of players.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Mike, Well, I mean, going up there, they didn't think
- 21:05Speaker 4: Delane would be there, and he was the best cornerback
- 21:07Speaker 4: in this draft. You know, in a mock draft. I
- 21:09Speaker 4: don't do trades in a mock draft, but I had
- 21:12Speaker 4: them taking Delaine at nine, But I thought was he
- 21:15Speaker 4: wasn't going to be there right at nine with teams
- 21:18Speaker 4: ahead of him.
- 21:18Speaker 2: That needed because they lost McDuffie.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Right, they lost to both their corners, you know, I mean, yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 4: they had to fill the slot.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Uh.
- 21:26Speaker 4: And then and then they picked the kid from from Clemson, right,
- 21:29Speaker 4: Peter Woods. Yes, Uh, a d tackle to go with
- 21:33Speaker 4: Chris Jones. Again. I liked their multiple picks, but they
- 21:36Speaker 4: had to get a dB. Had to and it cost
- 21:39Speaker 4: him some assets obviously to move up and do it.
- 21:41Speaker 4: But it was a need position.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Uh. Listen, I know you love this stuff the way
- 21:46Speaker 3: that I do. How about the reaction. I don't know
- 21:48Speaker 3: the kid's name, but the kid who was selected by
- 21:51Speaker 3: Pittsburgh by the Steelers in the first round and his
- 21:54Speaker 3: reaction with his family around him was just fantastic.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Did you see that?
- 21:57Speaker 7: Oh?
- 21:58Speaker 4: Yeah, the kid from Nigeria Max. I won't even tire.
- 22:02Speaker 4: I heard him pronounce his last name. I won't. I
- 22:04Speaker 4: won't try and butcher it. But a big, big dude,
- 22:07Speaker 4: big tackle who did not start playing football until Juco
- 22:13Speaker 4: until junior college was the first time he played football,
- 22:17Speaker 4: and now he's the number twenty one pick in the draft.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I mean absolutely amazing. Yeah, his reaction, I mean, listen,
- 22:24Speaker 4: that's what it's all about, right, Yeah, I mean, and
- 22:27Speaker 4: the difference is in reaction. How about Desmond Bane, I
- 22:31Speaker 4: mean good or I'm sorry Ruben Baine. I mean, I
- 22:35Speaker 4: thought he was going to kill somebody. He looked like
- 22:39Speaker 4: he was ticked off. I mean the interview he did
- 22:42Speaker 4: was like one word. I don't know if he was
- 22:44Speaker 4: mad where he got drafted. He got drafted what fifteen
- 22:47Speaker 4: like Tampa. I don't know if he was ticked about that.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That's a spot for him.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, But the difference is in people's reaction.
- 22:55Speaker 4: The one dude is just like, thank god he's got
- 22:58Speaker 4: drafted for a guy just start playing football a few
- 23:01Speaker 4: years ago. Yeah, but yeah, it was a cool I
- 23:05Speaker 4: like how they did it in Pittsburgh. I like how
- 23:07Speaker 4: before their pick they played the stick song that they
- 23:09Speaker 4: play in the second half of the game. And I
- 23:12Speaker 4: like how they had the other other picks, the calls
- 23:15Speaker 4: from the other picks. I thought they did it well.
- 23:17Speaker 4: And man, can it be any more popular the hundreds
- 23:21Speaker 4: of thousands of people that blows my mind.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Nope, Stu, I don't know if you saw this, but
- 23:29Speaker 5: the Steelers were actually.
- 23:31Speaker 7: On the phone with McKay lemon. Yeah, and they were
- 23:36Speaker 7: telling him, hey, we're picking you at twenty one. And
- 23:39Speaker 7: while McKay Lemon's like, oh my god, I'm gonna get
- 23:42Speaker 7: drafted by the Steelers. The Eagles couldn't reach him because
- 23:46Speaker 7: the Eagles traded ahead to draft McKie Lemon, right, and
- 23:49Speaker 7: they couldn't get in contact with him to be like,
- 23:51Speaker 7: hey we're drafting you.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Well, Hawie Roseman doesn't call anybody, only picks up the phone.
- 23:59Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, how about it. But yeah, that was
- 24:02Speaker 4: And so as soon as they picked mackayle Lemon, you
- 24:04Speaker 4: know a J. Brown, is that that he's going to
- 24:06Speaker 4: be gone?
- 24:07Speaker 2: Of course?
- 24:08Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, so I like mckaye Lemon. I'm a
- 24:11Speaker 4: fan of his. So uh but yeah, that that was interesting.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Wait, so Lemon went from thinking he was going to
- 24:17Speaker 3: be a Steeler to actually being an Eagle.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's an upgrade, that's a win.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Eagles made a couple of deals. How about the
- 24:26Speaker 4: Eagles and the Cowboys making the deal? Yeah that's Hatriots
- 24:31Speaker 4: and Bills.
- 24:31Speaker 2: But it's not great.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Right. He went from a team that doesn't have a
- 24:34Speaker 3: quarterback to a team where they're still not certain if
- 24:36Speaker 3: they have a quarterback, even though he's won a Super Bowl.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Yeah that's true. Yeah, but cats and dogs getting along
- 24:41Speaker 4: out there with some of these trade partners.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Yes, what do you think Bayon is pissed off about it?
- 24:46Speaker 3: I think it's I think he's tired of hearing. Hey,
- 24:49Speaker 3: if my arms weren't eighth of an inch longer, I
- 24:51Speaker 3: would have been a top five pick of the draft.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean you you think about, uh, the
- 24:57Speaker 4: edge rushers, because we had nine off offensive linemen, right,
- 25:01Speaker 4: I mean to two guards and seven offensive tackles. We
- 25:06Speaker 4: had four edge guys and Bain was second. I mean now,
- 25:10Speaker 4: now Reese may go down and play some edge, you
- 25:13Speaker 4: know for the Giants. I get that, But it was Bailey, Bain,
- 25:17Speaker 4: Mesidor and and the kid Fock from Auvard who's a
- 25:22Speaker 4: friggin freak. But yeah, I don't know if Bain was
- 25:26Speaker 4: mad he dropped out of the top ten. But Boyle
- 25:29Speaker 4: boy Or, he's just that's just his attitude. Which, hey,
- 25:33Speaker 4: if that's his attitude, he fits in football.
- 25:36Speaker 6: Just he'll do just fine. Mike, we could listen to
- 25:43Speaker 6: all the draft experts. Mel Kuiper's the mikey A's after
- 25:46Speaker 6: the draft talk about whether a player was good or
- 25:49Speaker 6: bad or not. But if you really want to know
- 25:51Speaker 6: if you've got a good player, when a player reacts
- 25:56Speaker 6: the way Malik Gabors did when the Boys got Caleb
- 26:01Speaker 6: Downs because he was live. He was doing a live show.
- 26:05Speaker 6: And when they when the Cowboys got Caleb Downs, He's like, man,
- 26:08Speaker 6: I gotta go up against these guys. Why is that
- 26:11Speaker 6: he was so disheartened about having to go up against
- 26:15Speaker 6: this guy because they played against each other. Uh yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 6: when when Downs was at Alabama, That's that's really the
- 26:21Speaker 6: tell for.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Me, Caleb Downs is he could You know, you sit
- 26:27Speaker 4: there and you sit there and you try and pick
- 26:28Speaker 4: who's going to be the offensive rookie of the year
- 26:30Speaker 4: defensive rookie of the year. And I heard some people
- 26:33Speaker 4: picking Caleb Downs and I don't think he will be
- 26:36Speaker 4: And that's not because he's not going to be great.
- 26:39Speaker 4: You look at what how do how do players get
- 26:41Speaker 4: picked for awards? It's by stats. Caleb Downs isn't going
- 26:45Speaker 4: to have six or seven interceptions, He's not going to have,
- 26:48Speaker 4: you know, a bunch of sacks. But what he's going
- 26:50Speaker 4: to do is he's going to run that defense. And
- 26:54Speaker 4: we've seen the safety position now and especially by Kyle Hamilton. Now,
- 26:59Speaker 4: downs isn't the size of Kyle Hamilton, but where you
- 27:02Speaker 4: can play off the ball, where you can play linebacker depth,
- 27:04Speaker 4: where you can play on the line of scrimmage. This
- 27:06Speaker 4: guy is a sure tackler and he is going to
- 27:10Speaker 4: just be kind of the lynchpin of up the gut.
- 27:13Speaker 4: You talk about d tackles, inside backers and safeties, Well,
- 27:16Speaker 4: safeties do so much now of where they line up.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I love him, Love this kid. Now to your point,
- 27:24Speaker 4: he shouldn't be covering thelak neighbors a whole lot. You're
- 27:26Speaker 4: not going to put a safety on the leak neighbors.
- 27:29Speaker 4: But what he could do is he can run that secondary.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Yes, Mike, say what you will about Jerry Jones and
- 27:35Speaker 3: the Cowboys.
- 27:36Speaker 2: They seem to handle.
- 27:37Speaker 3: The draft pretty well. They do consistently handle the draft
- 27:39Speaker 3: pretty well.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Yeah, And one of the great ones is way back
- 27:43Speaker 4: when when Jerry Jones got talked out of out of
- 27:47Speaker 4: drafting Johnny mane Zach Martin instead. That was a big turn. Yeah,
- 27:52Speaker 4: that works out really well. You're right, they draft well
- 27:57Speaker 4: and then you know they struggle paying like on time,
- 28:01Speaker 4: they do end up paying unless they trade a Michael.
- 28:04Speaker 4: But now this thing, yeah, now this thinge with George Pickings. Hey,
- 28:08Speaker 4: you're gonna play it on the franchise tag and of
- 28:10Speaker 4: course George is George isn't going to turn down twenty
- 28:13Speaker 4: seven million dollars. No, no, no, I mean the players.
- 28:16Speaker 4: I've said this forever when when I when I was playing,
- 28:19Speaker 4: when free agency started and then you had the franchise tag,
- 28:24Speaker 4: players loved it because they were getting the average of
- 28:27Speaker 4: the top five players in the league. Now they hate
- 28:29Speaker 4: it because it's a one year thing and it stops
- 28:31Speaker 4: them from getting the long term deal.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 7: And with that, with that Caleb downtrade, the Cowboys just
- 28:36Speaker 7: moved up a spot and they essentially just got those
- 28:39Speaker 7: picks back because they moved back from twenty to twenty
- 28:43Speaker 7: three when they drafted uh Malachi Lawrence, the edge rive
- 28:47Speaker 7: from from UCF. Let's just make a pack right now.
- 28:51Speaker 7: If the Cowboys defense looks competent regardless of stats, we'll
- 28:56Speaker 7: give Caleb Downs Rookie of the Year.
- 28:58Speaker 2: We have to make a pack.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Do that, you're that, I mean, we can do that,
- 29:02Speaker 4: but voters won't voter makes right because they don't watch
- 29:07Speaker 4: all the games so they make stats, nor do they
- 29:09Speaker 4: make Yes, that's exactly right.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:12Speaker 7: But if if the Cowboys defense looks competent, our show
- 29:18Speaker 7: can give Caleb downs the Rookie of the Year, and
- 29:20Speaker 7: then we can have Caleb Downs on and present it
- 29:22Speaker 7: to him that Yes, yes, I made you the Commissioner
- 29:25Speaker 7: of Sports, so I'm good with that.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Yes, that's a good one. That's a good long range plan, Taylor.
- 29:32Speaker 2: He's always thinking, thinking ahead.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Very good. Wow, Wow, I can't wait for you to hear.
- 29:41Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you, like, listen, if Simpson turns into
- 29:44Speaker 3: this Hall of Fame quarterback, that's better than Stafford. I
- 29:46Speaker 3: don't think less sneed should let McVay coju how about that?
- 29:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that'll happen.
- 29:55Speaker 2: The best coach of the game right now? Yeah?
- 30:00Speaker 3: All right, Mike, we appreciate it. You're headed out to
- 30:02Speaker 3: your golf tournament. You excited for today?
- 30:05Speaker 4: Oh? I mean I haven't. I've played golf once since
- 30:08Speaker 4: I had my shoulder replaced. We call it the Subpar
- 30:11Speaker 4: Classic for a reason. It's a much crappy golf, but
- 30:15Speaker 4: we have a lot of fun. There's a lot of
- 30:16Speaker 4: obviously drinks and food on the course. And uh, and
- 30:19Speaker 4: it'll be this year, like I said, a bunch of
- 30:21Speaker 4: former players, so it'll be kind of like a mini
- 30:24Speaker 4: reunion on the course. So it'll be fun. I'm really
- 30:26Speaker 4: sorry the invitations didn't get to you, guys.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, it's okay. Hopefully next year, don't hope. Hold,
- 30:38Speaker 3: but you love today.
- 30:39Speaker 2: You're raising money for a good cause.
- 30:41Speaker 3: You're going to be with people that you love, and
- 30:43Speaker 3: you're gonna be with people that love you and your family.
- 30:45Speaker 2: So that's great.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a cool weekend. I'm glad we kind of
- 30:48Speaker 4: change it to this weekend to kind of partner up
- 30:50Speaker 4: with the football program. So yeah, should be should be fun.
- 30:54Speaker 4: But obviously it did not stop me from talking football
- 30:57Speaker 4: with my favorite guys.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And so, Mike, what do you do after the golf tournament?
- 31:01Speaker 3: You you know, you just have the draft on the
- 31:03Speaker 3: entire weekend, right.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Actually right after the golf tournament. Sydney and Ben my
- 31:08Speaker 4: daughter Sidney and her husband Ben, who played for the
- 31:11Speaker 4: Bears for a number of years and now is about
- 31:12Speaker 4: to enter residency in the neurology department.
- 31:15Speaker 2: A real underachiever so he wasted his time playing for
- 31:18Speaker 2: the Bears.
- 31:19Speaker 4: My god, their second son, Joe, right after golf is
- 31:23Speaker 4: getting christened here by Father Nate, the the the priest
- 31:29Speaker 4: for the football team. He is all the other kids,
- 31:33Speaker 4: all my three other grandkids. So yeah, we're doing a
- 31:36Speaker 4: christening right after the golf. So if I get to
- 31:39Speaker 4: I get too drunk playing golf and I got to
- 31:41Speaker 4: walk into church, My god, that could be tough.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Yeah what a special day tailor.
- 31:45Speaker 6: Huh they're putting the draft on in the church or
- 31:50Speaker 6: how does that work?
- 31:51Speaker 4: Yeah, well we Father Nate again is the priest for
- 31:55Speaker 4: the football team, so we understand.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Quick prayers back to football.
- 32:01Speaker 9: He gets it, absolutely all right, all right, all right, Mike,
- 32:07Speaker 9: enjoy the golf tournament, the christening, enjoy the weekend, and
- 32:11Speaker 9: enjoy the remainder of the draft.
- 32:12Speaker 2: We appreciate your time as always.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Yep, you got guys.
