- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:11Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:15Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. It is Danny Parkins Friday. Danny Parkins from
- 0:23Speaker 1: FS1' s First Things First. What's going on, man?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Chilling, Bo. Thanks for having me back, man.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Hey, man. Got you on. And this is going to
- 0:31Speaker 1: be a really fun moment. for me and Ryan, what's
- 0:34Speaker 1: about to happen. Now we got Chiefs bills, some other
- 0:36Speaker 1: NFL stuff, great moments of white basketball history going on
- 0:40Speaker 1: right now. We'll get to all of those things. But first,
- 0:44Speaker 1: my father is from Louisiana. Ryan is from Louisiana. My
- 0:48Speaker 1: dad is from a little town called Oakdale. Ryan is
- 0:50Speaker 1: from Lafayette. And I say that to say that we
- 0:54Speaker 1: are both people who are very familiar with with Louisiana
- 0:59Speaker 1: and the different ways that Louisiana gets down. Danny is
- 1:03Speaker 1: from Chicago and has done Midwest and really, really cold
- 1:08Speaker 1: New York state living, right?
- 1:09Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 1:10Speaker 3: This is not very Louisiana at.
- 1:12Speaker 2: All, okay? I got no Southern ties in my family.
- 1:16Speaker 2: The only Louisiana experience I have is basically Bourbon Street
- 1:20Speaker 2: in New Orleans.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Okay, and I need you to understand there's Southern, but
- 1:23Speaker 1: there's Louisiana. Louisiana stands on its own. So- This LSU
- 1:28Speaker 1: coaching search.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Was already declared.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Ross Dellinger at Yahoo Sports put something in one of
- 1:33Speaker 1: his pieces where somebody's quoted as saying that this is
- 1:35Speaker 1: going to be the most Louisiana thing ever, okay? Now,
- 1:40Speaker 1: where this has gotten extra Louisiana, and when we say that,
- 1:44Speaker 1: we mean like in a Huey Long sort of way,
- 1:48Speaker 1: is that the governor... has decided that he is going
- 1:53Speaker 1: to run this search, right? Like this is clear that
- 1:56Speaker 1: he has decided he's going to run this search. Now,
- 1:57Speaker 1: an important detail for you to understand is that the
- 2:01Speaker 1: athletic director at LSU, Scott Woodward, is the guy who
- 2:05Speaker 1: also was the athletic director at Texas A & M
- 2:07Speaker 1: when they hired Jimbo Fisher and he got the $ 70
- 2:09Speaker 1: million buyout.
- 2:10Speaker 3: And this Brian Kelly buyout, which is a $ 50.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Million buyout, I believe, Though it's worth noting, James Franklin
- 2:19Speaker 1: also has a $ 50 million buyout, and your boy Scott
- 2:22Speaker 1: did not negotiate that one. This is just kind of
- 2:24Speaker 1: what things cost, okay? But he's that guy. Anyway, LSU
- 2:30Speaker 1: has an interim president right now. So that's why the
- 2:32Speaker 1: governor has taken in this power vacuum. And I started
- 2:36Speaker 1: seeing crazy quotes from the governor's press conference yesterday.
- 2:41Speaker 3: People were sending them to me. And I just read them.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Because they were quotes, they were written down, like they
- 2:47Speaker 1: were sent in tweets. And I try to stay off
- 2:50Speaker 1: of that place as much as I can at this point.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So I wasn't clicking the links, right? Then I was
- 2:56Speaker 1: made aware that it was a press conference. And, baby,
- 3:01Speaker 1: if you thought that what we had told you previously
- 3:04Speaker 1: implied Louisiana-ness in this situation, Danny, we're about to let
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know how Louisiana get down. Ryan, can we get
- 3:12Speaker 1: Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana at his press conference about
- 3:17Speaker 1: this LSU coaching situation?
- 3:19Speaker 4: You know, to foot the bill. So, yeah, absolutely. Who's that?
- 3:25Speaker 1: No. No.
- 3:25Speaker 5: I can tell you right now, Scott Woodward is not
- 3:27Speaker 5: selecting the next coach. Hell, I'll let Donald Trump select
- 3:29Speaker 5: it before I let him do it.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I don't know, but the.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Board of Supervisors is going to come up with a
- 3:33Speaker 5: committee and they're going to go find us a coach.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Hold on, hold on. One real quick thing on that.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Because here's what y'all reporters need to do.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Y'all need to start looking at who represents all these people.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Like these agents. You know what's interesting?
- 3:47Speaker 5: If I'm not mistaken, Woodward's agent, Kelly's agent, the Texas
- 3:52Speaker 5: A & M, they're all the same agent. Like, you
- 3:55Speaker 5: realize if I would be, I don't know how many
- 3:57Speaker 5: sports writers we got here today.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Just you. We should have a bunch. Okay? Like, this
- 4:03Speaker 4: is ridiculous.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Lawyers would be disbarred for the way these agents act
- 4:08Speaker 5: and the way they're able to represent. In fact, they may,
- 4:11Speaker 5: there's no doubt, they may even represent some of the
- 4:13Speaker 5: players now. Like, it's really time for the NCAA to
- 4:17Speaker 5: put on some guardrails in college sports.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Because it is fine. We don't need to guardrails.
- 4:23Speaker 5: If big billionaires want to spend all that kind of money,
- 4:27Speaker 5: no problem. But if I got to go find $ 53
- 4:29Speaker 5: million from Kevin, it's not going to be a pleasant conversation.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I'm just telling you.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:37Speaker 1: First of all, he's not entirely wrong on the Asian thing,
- 4:41Speaker 1: but he's also not entirely right. Like that's a platitude.
- 4:44Speaker 1: We know this, right?
- 4:47Speaker 2: Um, put a pin in that point. Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Put a, put a pin at that point though, because
- 4:51Speaker 1: I just need your reaction to simply hearing that man's voice.
- 4:55Speaker 2: It's very Cajun. Uh, that, that, that is, it's hard
- 4:59Speaker 2: to take anything he says seriously.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And they get mad about that, by the way.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I know.
- 5:05Speaker 4: I know.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I just gave them red meat in the comments there. Um, yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I'm like, This is terrible. But I'm thinking that he
- 5:17Speaker 2: sounds like a character in Adam Sandler's The Waterboy. Yes. Like,
- 5:20Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Mr. Coach Kline. Like, I'm
- 5:23Speaker 2: just like, I can't take him seriously. Like, that is just,
- 5:26Speaker 2: he's just a stereotypical archetype of everything that I learned
- 5:30Speaker 2: about Louisiana culture, which my first exposure to it was
- 5:33Speaker 2: Adam Sandler when I was like, 12 years old, which
- 5:36Speaker 2: is not good.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And the thing for me and Ryan is, we're like, no, no, no,
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's just kind of how it goes, right? Like, this
- 5:42Speaker 1: is not what any of you think is coming. That's
- 5:43Speaker 1: like the Ed Ogeron situation, right? That was amazing. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 1: but Ogeron was a football coach, so more into a
- 5:51Speaker 1: lane that you could go for.
- 5:53Speaker 3: And he is from St. Martinville, Louisiana. This is archetype,
- 5:59Speaker 3: I think, is an appropriate.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Way for you to put this, but What I heard
- 6:04Speaker 1: as he went through all of that, including the platitude
- 6:06Speaker 1: about the agent thing.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Like, yeah, buddy, you know what's interesting to me?
- 6:10Speaker 1: And as I heard him say this, right, which sounded
- 6:13Speaker 1: very much like a moment that all of us can
- 6:15Speaker 1: have at various points where you meet a fan in
- 6:19Speaker 1: the wild and they hit you with a platitude, really
- 6:23Speaker 1: thinking that they dropped the big joke. They're like, hey, man,
- 6:26Speaker 1: you know, I got this thing that I've been thinking about.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They shoot two minute three pointers in the NBA.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And you're like, oh, man, glad you brought that up.
- 6:35Speaker 1: You need to talk about that on your show.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:38Speaker 1: He was that guy. And that's what dawned on me
- 6:40Speaker 1: is going to make this search hilarious. And what generally
- 6:43Speaker 1: makes these searches hilarious when they're not done by an
- 6:46Speaker 1: athletic director. If it's not done by an.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Athletic director, you know who's going to go find your
- 6:50Speaker 3: new coach?
- 6:52Speaker 2: A fan.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Maybe a really rich fan. Maybe a very powerful fan.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Perhaps one with high levels of education.
- 7:00Speaker 3: But in the end, just a fan.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Right someone who's got a good idea on message boards
- 7:08Speaker 2: yes like someone who has a username somewhere you know
- 7:12Speaker 2: uh i don't know if it's relevant but it feels
- 7:14Speaker 2: like it might be because i did see some sort
- 7:16Speaker 2: of like walk back comment from him that he was
- 7:18Speaker 2: like but i'm not going to be selecting is this
- 7:22Speaker 2: is this gentleman popular like is he broadly popular.
- 7:25Speaker 1: You know what let's look Jeff Landry approval rating.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Five days ago, headline, Governor Landry's approval ratings drop across Louisiana,
- 7:40Speaker 1: even in Acadiana, and Acadiana is.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Where he from.
- 7:44Speaker 1: His approval rating has dropped to 39%. And that's the
- 7:48Speaker 1: reason why I think we're seeing this in the way
- 7:49Speaker 1: that we do. Look, talking bad about Brian Kelly and
- 7:52Speaker 1: wanting to fix LSU football is a bipartisan issue, shall
- 7:56Speaker 1: we say. He sent the tweet during the game about
- 7:59Speaker 1: how they needed to roll back the increase in ticket prices.
- 8:03Speaker 1: He has figured out his way back to the top, except, ooh, ooh,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I don't think this is really going to be it.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Yeah, right, exactly. Criticizing Brian Kelly, rolling back ticket prices,
- 8:12Speaker 2: that's like a populist agenda thing. He could have taken
- 8:15Speaker 2: that 39% and maybe bumped it up into the low 50s,
- 8:18Speaker 2: but then he went a step too far and was like,
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm taking over the search. No, you're not. No, you're not.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm going to run. Don't you have other things that
- 8:29Speaker 1: you should be doing? And he's like, what's more important
- 8:31Speaker 1: than this? And the people are like, you know what?
- 8:33Speaker 1: You got a point.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Exactly. But if they liked him, they'd be like, yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 2: I mean, he can't do a worse job than the
- 8:39Speaker 2: last guy who hired Brian Kelly, but they don't like him.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Hey, man, understand this. Louisiana is known for.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Government and people oftentimes having, we'll call it misplaced priorities.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Look at how long it took for them or the
- 8:55Speaker 1: circumstances under which it took for them to change the
- 8:58Speaker 1: legal drinking age. From 18 to 21. And what they
- 9:01Speaker 1: did that at the expense of, which I believe was
- 9:04Speaker 1: federal funds for the highways.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But they decided that.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Some things are more important than your highways being what
- 9:11Speaker 1: they are supposed to be.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You tell the governor like, hey, man, it's about to
- 9:15Speaker 1: be a category five barreling down.
- 9:18Speaker 2: We have a coach to find.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Like you think that you want to see a category six?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Let us not find a coach. That'll be a category six.
- 9:31Speaker 2: We've seen hurricanes before. We don't like seeing five losses.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Category five losses is the real problem.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Well, the other part is because that's a state with
- 9:41Speaker 1: only one really big time school. It's like Ohio State.
- 9:45Speaker 1: This is what everybody does. There's no split going on here.
- 9:49Speaker 1: This is not being partitioned.
- 9:51Speaker 3: This is what everybody's into. This is what everybody cares about.
- 9:56Speaker 2: When I will say their their marketing is pretty spectacular
- 9:59Speaker 2: like I'm not I love college football but it's not
- 10:03Speaker 2: in my like top three like sports like I got
- 10:05Speaker 2: a wife and kids so I kind of have to
- 10:06Speaker 2: give up a lot of my Saturdays just with them
- 10:08Speaker 2: because of what I do on my Sundays but the
- 10:10Speaker 2: marketing of like i haven't been to a night game
- 10:14Speaker 2: at baton rouge just like feels like a black hole
- 10:17Speaker 2: in my sports fan experience.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I don't want to go i gotta want to go
- 10:20Speaker 1: i gotta want to go like i've done i've done
- 10:22Speaker 1: a night game at baton rouge but it was at
- 10:24Speaker 1: southern which is also cracking but i'm sure i kind
- 10:27Speaker 1: of want to do the baton rouge thing and while
- 10:29Speaker 1: they sing a garth brooks song that i don't actually
- 10:32Speaker 1: know but i've heard of only because of them which
- 10:34Speaker 1: tells you a lot because i'm from texas um like
- 10:37Speaker 1: the the thing is we got to make sure we
- 10:39Speaker 1: get to like at once a good one but also
- 10:42Speaker 1: one that we know they gonna win like i don't
- 10:43Speaker 1: want to be around them if they're a little they're
- 10:46Speaker 1: a little salty but i bet that tailgate is bananas.
- 10:48Speaker 2: That's really what it is i just want to i
- 10:50Speaker 2: want to experience the game day culture and then the
- 10:53Speaker 2: game can be yeah it can.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Be hey start working on it and in 2026 we'll
- 10:59Speaker 1: figure out and when i say working on it you
- 11:00Speaker 1: understand what i mean you know talk to the boss
- 11:04Speaker 1: See if you can get you a couple days. And
- 11:06Speaker 1: I think that we can go down there and do
- 11:07Speaker 1: our odd couple thing down there in Baton Rouge.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Ryan can start working with his boss, too.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I'm in.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah, we can do this. I am in. And yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 2: that's the doubleheader. Now, we don't want to go to
- 11:21Speaker 2: a Saints game. No, no, no, no, no.
- 11:22Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. They might fight me. Like
- 11:26Speaker 1: the Saints game. Saints games I don't need to be,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but I'm going to take you over. I got to
- 11:30Speaker 1: take you over my side of Baton Rouge. You know,
- 11:32Speaker 1: I got all kind of family through there.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I believe it. I'm in, man.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I got to show you the other side of Baton Rouge,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but we're going to do that. Now that we have
- 11:39Speaker 1: laughed at the LSU search, we got a big weekend
- 11:42Speaker 1: in the NFL.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Not because it's a lot of big games, but it
- 11:45Speaker 2: is Chiefs builds.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Big ones.
- 11:48Speaker 1: The Bills, regular season against the Chiefs. They've shown that
- 11:52Speaker 1: they put up a puncher's, got a puncher's chance. In fact,
- 11:54Speaker 1: might win. It's the playoffs where they don't seem to
- 11:57Speaker 1: get over the top on this one. They get this
- 11:59Speaker 1: game at home. But what is interesting is we were
- 12:02Speaker 1: early this year looking at Buffalo. They're going to go
- 12:04Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl in Kansas City. Are they going
- 12:06Speaker 1: to make the playoffs? And now I feel like we've
- 12:08Speaker 1: all got back to our senses. And we're like, ah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: look at Kansas City.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Best team in the AFC. And Buffalo, we're like, hey,
- 12:15Speaker 3: they can't stop the run.
- 12:17Speaker 2: That is correct. And I'm not even totally convinced, even
- 12:20Speaker 2: though the numbers are pretty good, that they can stop
- 12:22Speaker 2: the pass because Drake May lit them up and Lamar
- 12:24Speaker 2: lit them up. They've played a terrible schedule. They have
- 12:28Speaker 2: no impressive wins at this point unless you give them
- 12:31Speaker 2: credit for that week one Baltimore win where they actually
- 12:34Speaker 2: didn't look that good. So yeah, you can run on
- 12:36Speaker 2: them and you can pass on them. And I'm expecting
- 12:40Speaker 2: the Chiefs to do both in this spot. Now, I
- 12:42Speaker 2: will say, I do think the bills like blip of
- 12:45Speaker 2: two losses was more of a blip. Like I do
- 12:48Speaker 2: still think the bills offense is excellent. So I expect
- 12:51Speaker 2: this to be a very high scoring game, but this
- 12:54Speaker 2: chiefs thing, man, they're putting up offensive numbers that are
- 12:58Speaker 2: identical to 2018 to 2022. Like not like five games
- 13:02Speaker 2: of that stretch, like five years of that stretch. So, so,
- 13:07Speaker 2: It's I do think that the Chiefs are very much
- 13:09Speaker 2: back to being the Chiefs and the Bills are in
- 13:11Speaker 2: a real bad spot here.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Right. So let's talk about these two losses, though, for
- 13:15Speaker 1: the Bills and whether or not they qualify as a blip.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And the reason we say this is you. I say
- 13:21Speaker 1: this is you are right. They got that one.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Win over the Ravens.
- 13:24Speaker 2: And you're right.
- 13:24Speaker 1: They give up 40 points. It's easy to forget because
- 13:26Speaker 1: it was so long ago. But otherwise, they've beaten bums.
- 13:30Speaker 1: They beat the Jets.
- 13:32Speaker 2: They beat the Dolphins.
- 13:33Speaker 3: They beat the Saints and they beat the Panthers. And
- 13:37Speaker 3: the teams that they.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Lost to are the Patriots, who, hold on, we'll get
- 13:42Speaker 1: to them.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The other one is the Falcons.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I don't ever have to explain what I'm saying when
- 13:45Speaker 1: I'm talking about you beating the Falcons, right? Like, come on.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But them beating the Patriots, the Patriots have also, all
- 13:52Speaker 1: those wins they've got are all against tomato cans.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Every single bit, right?
- 13:56Speaker 1: And so does that mean that the Bills are also
- 13:59Speaker 1: a tomato can as they are fitting in with a
- 14:01Speaker 1: lot of tomato cans that the Patriots themselves have beaten?
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's kind of where we are now. I feel like
- 14:06Speaker 1: we're getting enough of a sample in the games where
- 14:09Speaker 1: we can now raise questions about how good your wins
- 14:13Speaker 1: actually are.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I agree, and I don't know if you do your
- 14:17Speaker 2: NFL analysis this way, but if you've been good for years, plural,
- 14:24Speaker 2: I do think there is a carryover. I do think Philly, Detroit,
- 14:31Speaker 2: Kansas City, Buffalo, I am inclined to give those teams
- 14:36Speaker 2: the benefit of the doubt and say the schedule didn't break.
- 14:40Speaker 2: It's really impossible for them to have an impressive resume
- 14:43Speaker 2: right now based on what their schedule is for this team.
- 14:47Speaker 2: But I still think that offensive line, that quarterback, that
- 14:52Speaker 2: running back, by the way, James Cook, he leads the NFL.
- 14:55Speaker 2: leads the NFL in rushing. Like I still think Buffalo is,
- 14:58Speaker 2: we're going to wake up at the end of the
- 15:00Speaker 2: year and they're going to have double digit wins and
- 15:03Speaker 2: be a problem. And let's say they lose to the chiefs.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Then all of us, Miami, Tampa, Houston, Pittsburgh, like we
- 15:11Speaker 2: can poke holes in any of those opponents, Cincinnati, new England, Cleveland.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Like there aren't that many good teams in the NFL
- 15:19Speaker 2: this year. So if I only can judge you based
- 15:22Speaker 2: on your resume this year and what you've done, who's good?
- 15:25Speaker 2: Kansas City? Philly? Philly? Like it's not it's not a
- 15:29Speaker 2: very long list.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And Kansas City's five and three, you know, like per
- 15:33Speaker 1: what you're saying. And I do think it is worth noting.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And I did not say this. Yes, the Bills have
- 15:38Speaker 1: beaten tomato cans. But in fairness to them, they have
- 15:41Speaker 1: beaten the hell.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Out of those tomato cans.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Like they always do.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 1: They're beaten by double digits.
- 15:46Speaker 2: You're right.
- 15:46Speaker 1: They are.
- 15:47Speaker 2: They are that sort of team.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And it is very similar, I would say, to the
- 15:53Speaker 1: Ravens when they roll. They are going to beat Bums,
- 15:56Speaker 1: and they are going to beat the Bums emphatically. It's
- 15:59Speaker 1: those other games they get a little bit dicey, but
- 16:01Speaker 1: they're not going to do a whole lot of losing
- 16:03Speaker 1: that they're not supposed to do, except when you play
- 16:04Speaker 1: against the Falcons.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yeah, they have– I had this on Breakfast Bowl the
- 16:10Speaker 2: other day when they came out of the Carolina game.
- 16:12Speaker 2: That was their 10th win of 28 or more points
- 16:18Speaker 2: in the last five years.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 16:19Speaker 2: 28 or more in the NFL is an ass kicking.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Like that, that is a, that is a, that is
- 16:24Speaker 2: a college football power five V not type of game.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And so they, they, they can kick your ass if
- 16:31Speaker 2: you're really bad and not in their class. And yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 2: your point is valid. Like they, they can't beat the
- 16:36Speaker 2: chiefs in the playoffs. Josh Allen hasn't been the problem. Like,
- 16:39Speaker 2: in the regular season or the playoffs, like he's got
- 16:41Speaker 2: 24 touchdowns against five turnovers in his 10 career games
- 16:44Speaker 2: against the chiefs. Like Josh Allen will show up. It's
- 16:47Speaker 2: just that that other team has 15 and Andy Reed
- 16:50Speaker 2: and everybody else. So, you know, there's really nothing Buffalo
- 16:54Speaker 2: I think can prove to the masses at large in
- 16:56Speaker 2: this game. But let's be honest, man. Like what if
- 16:59Speaker 2: Kansas city loses? Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Oh, we'll turn so fast.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:04Speaker 3: They'll be sitting on a five and four.
- 17:06Speaker 1: They are fortunate in that the Chargers thing hasn't turned
- 17:10Speaker 1: out like it looked like it was going too early
- 17:12Speaker 1: because there was two sides, two sides of the coin
- 17:14Speaker 1: in that game in Brazil in week one.
- 17:16Speaker 2: It was like, oh, my gosh, what's going on with
- 17:18Speaker 2: the Chiefs?
- 17:18Speaker 1: But hey, look at the Chargers, even though looking back,
- 17:21Speaker 1: that game was not like. given the uniqueness of the
- 17:25Speaker 1: circumstances and the margin was not so great that maybe
- 17:28Speaker 1: it didn't mean as much as any of us wanted
- 17:30Speaker 1: to believe that it meant at the time, but Buffalo's
- 17:34Speaker 1: got 10 games left and five of them are tricky.
- 17:36Speaker 3: They got the chiefs at home, the bucks at home
- 17:39Speaker 3: at Houston.
- 17:40Speaker 1: And I think the Houston is one of those where
- 17:42Speaker 1: it's going to turn where they probably played better than
- 17:44Speaker 1: their record indicated early.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And I think that one starts coming around.
- 17:47Speaker 3: They got at.
- 17:49Speaker 1: The Steelers, um, at the patriots and they've got the
- 17:54Speaker 1: eagles second last week of the year oh yeah that's
- 17:57Speaker 1: there we go those are the five.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yeah like so if you were going to say who
- 18:02Speaker 2: can you more reasonably see missing the playoffs chiefs or
- 18:07Speaker 2: bills you would say it's the bills comfortably correct.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I would say it's the bills and i think it's
- 18:11Speaker 1: in line with your point that's the benefit of the
- 18:13Speaker 1: doubt factor that the chiefs have heard like we're at
- 18:16Speaker 1: like buffalo How many years in a row is it
- 18:18Speaker 1: now that they've won that division? Is it something like six?
- 18:21Speaker 2: It's six.
- 18:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 1: That's kind of crazy. Like, I don't think we discussed
- 18:26Speaker 1: that nearly enough that they are now the way the
- 18:29Speaker 1: chiefs are running that division. Like we're in the way
- 18:32Speaker 1: that the Patriots were running the East, except I think
- 18:34Speaker 1: the difference is, well, with Buffalo is the same division
- 18:36Speaker 1: that we've long found to be mediocre. The chiefs thing
- 18:39Speaker 1: is we haven't felt that way necessarily about the division
- 18:41Speaker 1: and they just keep walking through.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yeah. I think that, you know, the AFC West gets like, well,
- 18:46Speaker 2: they've got, Harbaugh and Sean Payton. And it's just like
- 18:49Speaker 2: now Pete Carroll, like it's just, it's an impressive group there.
- 18:52Speaker 2: We saw the Patriots dominate the East for even longer
- 18:55Speaker 2: than the bills have dominated the East and the bills
- 18:58Speaker 2: haven't backed it up with doing anything in the playoffs
- 19:00Speaker 2: that anybody cares about. I think that I think that's
- 19:03Speaker 2: really the biggest thing. It's like, oh, OK, well, so
- 19:05Speaker 2: you dominate a bad division and then you lose in
- 19:07Speaker 2: the divisional round of the playoffs. Like, how impressed am
- 19:10Speaker 2: I supposed to be by that? And I don't think
- 19:12Speaker 2: that's entirely fair, but I do think that's why we
- 19:16Speaker 2: kind of downgrade their regular season dominance. Like, let me
- 19:19Speaker 2: go ahead. Let me tell you this, though, buddy.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I can't imagine how cracking is going to be in
- 19:23Speaker 1: that stadium because, you know. as Nick would say, it's
- 19:25Speaker 1: Super Bowl time for the Buffalo Bills.
- 19:28Speaker 3: And he's not wrong. He's not wrong. They get this
- 19:30Speaker 3: game at home against the Chiefs.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Because look, man, for them, it ain't just about the teams.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's also about the Josh Allen thing. They love him
- 19:39Speaker 1: in a very unique and special way. And they want
- 19:41Speaker 1: all the best things for him.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And this is a time. This is another example.
- 19:46Speaker 4: I know.
- 19:46Speaker 2: And I know that like, I heard you, I saw
- 19:49Speaker 2: the clip of you saying like that everybody loves Josh
- 19:51Speaker 2: Allen and the media roots for him. And I was like,
- 19:53Speaker 2: is he talking about me? It's everybody.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I know. I know.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Well, but here's what I will say about it in
- 20:00Speaker 2: like defense, I guess, of the opinions at large. Cause
- 20:03Speaker 2: like Nick and I were going back and forth at
- 20:04Speaker 2: this yesterday on TV and he was like rattling off
- 20:07Speaker 2: all the people that said Josh Allen was the best
- 20:09Speaker 2: quarterback in the world. He's like, people are so quick
- 20:10Speaker 2: to move on from home. So I'm like, I at
- 20:12Speaker 2: least never said that. My thing has always been though.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I think as much of a foregone conclusion as it
- 20:18Speaker 2: is that Mahomes is the best, it should also be
- 20:22Speaker 2: nearly that much of a consensus majority of opinion that
- 20:25Speaker 2: the second best quarterback in the NFL is Josh Allen.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That's where I disagree because I think that's really selling
- 20:34Speaker 1: Lamar short. Now, of course, the issue becomes the drop
- 20:39Speaker 1: in performance in postseason.
- 20:42Speaker 2: That's a pretty big one.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's a pretty big one, but all I'm saying is,
- 20:45Speaker 1: We never dropped Peyton Manning to number three, or in
- 20:49Speaker 1: some cases below number one, under very, very, very similar
- 20:54Speaker 1: circumstances through this point in his career.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Okay, but I hear what you're saying, and comparing eras
- 21:01Speaker 2: is like a worthwhile cause, but I think that there are,
- 21:04Speaker 2: like the game has changed, what we value changed, we
- 21:06Speaker 2: get smarter, different stats, whatever the case may be. Like,
- 21:10Speaker 2: since 2020, Mahomes is first in the NFL. In passing yards,
- 21:16Speaker 2: passing touchdowns, wins, and playoff wins. Josh Allen is third
- 21:22Speaker 2: in passing yards, second in passing touchdowns, second in wins,
- 21:28Speaker 2: and second in playoff wins. And the only guy who
- 21:31Speaker 2: passed him in passing yards was Justin Herbert. It was
- 21:33Speaker 2: like two weeks ago. So Allen, in terms of the
- 21:37Speaker 2: quarterbacking things that we care about, the yards, the touchdowns,
- 21:42Speaker 2: the winning, the playoff wins. He's second to the goat.
- 21:46Speaker 2: So I just, I feel like it's like a fairly,
- 21:49Speaker 2: now the highs of Lamar, the difficulty of defending Lamar,
- 21:54Speaker 2: multiple MVPs. Lamar's amazing. And with all of this, we
- 21:58Speaker 2: are parsing greatness. But if Josh Allen also balls out
- 22:01Speaker 2: in the playoffs and Lamar doesn't, I feel like that's
- 22:03Speaker 2: a reasonable place to put the tiebreaker.
- 22:06Speaker 3: While I hear you. And I don't do a lot
- 22:09Speaker 3: of stat leaning at this point.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 1: But I think we're ignoring that the dude last year
- 22:16Speaker 1: had 41 touchdowns and four interceptions.
- 22:18Speaker 3: And I also think that.
- 22:22Speaker 1: He is the central node of his offense in the
- 22:26Speaker 1: way that Allen is in his, it's not just about
- 22:30Speaker 1: what the numbers are. It's that everything that happens here
- 22:32Speaker 1: is because of this guy. Now we're at a place
- 22:34Speaker 1: where they went and got Lamar, got some dudes around
- 22:36Speaker 1: him in a way that Allen no longer does. Right. Like, like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: The Stefan Diggs is not there anymore, for example, though
- 22:43Speaker 1: they do have James Cook. They put the stuff around Lamar,
- 22:46Speaker 1: but this is about Lamar. The advanced statistical case for
- 22:49Speaker 1: Lamar is also pretty spectacular. I think it is a debate,
- 22:56Speaker 1: and I think that that's where I think that we go.
- 22:58Speaker 3: A little too hard because of the postseason stuff with him.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Not to say that having Allen at number two is unreasonable,
- 23:05Speaker 1: but I don't think that it's indisputable.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I think that's my thing.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and listen, I mean, if I say it's indisputable
- 23:12Speaker 2: and then you dispute it, that immediately makes me wrong.
- 23:17Speaker 2: So I guess I'm happy to concede the point. I just–
- 23:21Speaker 2: I will defer to the guy who– got it done
- 23:25Speaker 2: in the playoffs more now. And again, neither of them
- 23:28Speaker 2: have gotten done in the playoffs at the ultimate level.
- 23:30Speaker 2: And I do think I over sell the 13 second game.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I'm like, Josh Allen had 300. Oh, that's, that's, that's
- 23:38Speaker 2: the ultimate man. Only, only a Josh Allen can get
- 23:40Speaker 2: credit for what, for not winning. Oh, I watched the
- 23:45Speaker 2: game too.
- 23:46Speaker 1: It was pretty good. I'm not saying it wasn't good, man.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I was there. I mean, I wasn't there.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I mean, he never got the ball back. Yeah, that's
- 23:53Speaker 1: how it goes. Finally, for the first time ever, people
- 23:57Speaker 1: were like, wait a minute. Sudden death is wrong because
- 24:00Speaker 1: Josh ain't get the ball.
- 24:01Speaker 2: No, I didn't want it changed. I don't need my
- 24:03Speaker 2: overtime to be fair, but I do need to be like,
- 24:06Speaker 2: he can't beat Mahomes in the playoffs. I'm like, yeah,
- 24:08Speaker 2: he can.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Well, maybe he can, but the bottom line is he
- 24:11Speaker 1: did not.
- 24:12Speaker 2: That's right. The bottom line is that he did not.
- 24:16Speaker 3: The bottom line is that he did not.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Look, we're big fans of the big galoot over here, right?
- 24:22Speaker 1: I want to make sure that we're very clear about this.
- 24:24Speaker 1: We are big fans of the big galoot.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I'll be hoping, man, just hoping, just hoping.
- 24:31Speaker 2: And I want to be clear that I am big
- 24:32Speaker 2: fans of Lamar. Like before last year, I would still
- 24:35Speaker 2: have made like a burrow over Lamar argument. And now
- 24:38Speaker 2: I'm like fully off that. Yeah.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah. So that was, that was people overreacting.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:42Speaker 2: That was overreacting. I will, I will fully concede that.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And Lamar stays on the field in a way that
- 24:48Speaker 2: burrow does not. And burrow is better in the playoffs,
- 24:51Speaker 2: but he's not there as often. And so like, I'm,
- 24:54Speaker 2: I'm not, well, Lamar is to me very clearly at three.
- 24:58Speaker 2: But yeah, and so Lamar is Lamar is spectacular. And
- 25:01Speaker 2: by the way, there's the reason why the Ravens right now,
- 25:06Speaker 2: even though they are two and five are favored to
- 25:10Speaker 2: win the AFC North is their path compared to Pittsburgh's
- 25:14Speaker 2: path is so much easier. Just the next like they
- 25:18Speaker 2: don't play Pittsburgh until week 14. They very easily could
- 25:22Speaker 2: be tied or in first place before they even beat
- 25:25Speaker 2: them one time. So Lamar coming back, I think, changes
- 25:29Speaker 2: everything for them. And I do still expect the Ravens
- 25:31Speaker 2: to win that division.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Hey, speaking of Pittsburgh, I just read something. Did y'all's
- 25:35Speaker 1: homeboy get his nipples pierced?
- 25:37Speaker 2: He did. Yeah, yesterday.
- 25:39Speaker 1: They got a homeboy named Pony. And Pony worked on
- 25:43Speaker 1: the radio. And I forget what he said, that if
- 25:46Speaker 1: something happened, he would get his nipples pierced. I got
- 25:48Speaker 1: to be honest. It wasn't that, like... It was on
- 25:52Speaker 1: the board that this could happen, whatever the thing. What
- 25:54Speaker 1: was the thing?
- 25:55Speaker 2: It was Steelers-Bengals two weeks ago.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. On a Thursday night on the road,
- 26:00Speaker 1: I got to say, I just think he wanted to
- 26:02Speaker 1: get his nipples pierced because that was not nearly hyperbolic
- 26:06Speaker 1: enough to justify the risk.
- 26:07Speaker 3: And next thing you know, you look up.
- 26:09Speaker 1: He out here looking like Janet Jackson.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That is right. And, you know, he's a showman. He's
- 26:15Speaker 2: a performer. He's king of Pittsburgh radio. He turned it
- 26:19Speaker 2: into a– he pivoted nicely– Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they raised,
- 26:23Speaker 2: I think, $ 12, 000 last night at a bar. Packed the house,
- 26:26Speaker 2: a bunch of people showed up, bought tickets, made a donation.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Pat Fryermuth donated some game-worn cleats that they auctioned off,
- 26:32Speaker 2: that sort of thing. But yeah, right now, both of
- 26:36Speaker 2: his nipples are pierced. And I haven't spoken to him
- 26:38Speaker 2: yet today, but we were texting last night and he
- 26:41Speaker 2: said his nipples were burning. I'm like, yeah, I bet.
- 26:43Speaker 2: You didn't need to tell me that. But he also
- 26:45Speaker 2: added in the tweet, without a numbing agent. Like why?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Because the real answer to this, to me very clearly,
- 26:52Speaker 1: is he a freak. Like he just, he just a freak. Like,
- 26:59Speaker 1: like he needed an excuse to get this freak shit off.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And he, he, he put it, he put it out
- 27:04Speaker 1: there and then he went and he went, yeah, yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 1: He didn't do no numbing agent.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Nah, man.
- 27:08Speaker 3: He wanted to feel that pain.
- 27:09Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying?
- 27:11Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And I mean, I'm not going to out my boy
- 27:13Speaker 2: from college too much, but you're on it.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah. You just learned some things about the homie that
- 27:18Speaker 1: maybe you knew it ain't telling us, but I could
- 27:20Speaker 1: tell right now, like he, he, he, he, he, he
- 27:23Speaker 1: a freaky deaky.
- 27:24Speaker 3: That's, that's, that's, that's, that's what it is. Like I'd
- 27:26Speaker 3: never really thought about how this relates to men, but I.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Guess, yeah, he a freaky deaky.
- 27:30Speaker 3: That's the, that's the only explanation.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Andrew, Andrew Filippone. Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: By the way, talking about spinning radio events, I have
- 27:38Speaker 1: to bring this up because I think that this went
- 27:40Speaker 1: on during a time that I wasn't really on the
- 27:42Speaker 1: internet and I was not aware of, but a buddy
- 27:44Speaker 1: of mine made me aware of. guys this guy danny
- 27:47Speaker 1: parkins one time in chicago got so tired these people
- 27:50Speaker 1: talk about what about chicago that he helped to fuck
- 27:52Speaker 1: like could you like i'm dead serious because this was
- 27:55Speaker 1: one of the most impressive things that i had ever
- 27:56Speaker 1: seen you did this with the the acho that people like.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Uh yes sam acho yeah wow thank you for bringing
- 28:04Speaker 2: that up um i think i'm wearing yeah i got
- 28:07Speaker 2: my undershirt on right now is one of the shirts
- 28:08Speaker 2: we we sold for that event it says keep chicago
- 28:11Speaker 2: out of your mouth um I listen, I'm a privileged
- 28:15Speaker 2: kid from the north side of Chicago who then moved
- 28:17Speaker 2: to the more privileged northern suburbs of Chicago. But I
- 28:21Speaker 2: read and I know people from the city and all
- 28:24Speaker 2: parts of Chicago. And it would really piss me off
- 28:26Speaker 2: when politicians would make the very disingenuous when they were
- 28:30Speaker 2: talking about gun control. They would be like, well, gun
- 28:32Speaker 2: control doesn't work. What about Chicago? They've got strict gun laws,
- 28:36Speaker 2: but they've got all these gun deaths. And I was like,
- 28:38Speaker 2: you you guys don't give a shit about Chicago anymore.
- 28:41Speaker 2: you know, damn well that it's a eight minute drive
- 28:44Speaker 2: across the bridge to Indiana and the gun laws there
- 28:47Speaker 2: are so lax. And like 40% of guns that are
- 28:50Speaker 2: recovered in violent crime in Chicago come from out of state.
- 28:52Speaker 2: They know all these numbers and they do not care.
- 28:54Speaker 2: And they just use Chicago as this argument to, to
- 28:57Speaker 2: shit on the city when they don't live there and
- 28:59Speaker 2: they don't care about it. And so this is long story.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I'll tell as quickly as I can. But when the
- 29:07Speaker 2: George Floyd murder happened and there was all that, civic unrest.
- 29:12Speaker 2: There was, there's this group of kids, uh, at this
- 29:15Speaker 2: like afterschool academy in Chicago that, uh, had this liquor
- 29:19Speaker 2: store that was across the street from their afterschool program
- 29:22Speaker 2: where a bunch of bad stuff was happening, drug deals,
- 29:25Speaker 2: things like that. And it got, it got looted, um,
- 29:29Speaker 2: and got torn up or whatever. And Sam Acho and
- 29:32Speaker 2: some other, uh, Jason Hayward and other people put money
- 29:36Speaker 2: together to buy the liquor store, tear it down, pave
- 29:40Speaker 2: over it. And the kids started a food mart program
- 29:45Speaker 2: because they were in a food desert in the Austin
- 29:47Speaker 2: neighborhood on the west side of Chicago. And they partnered
- 29:49Speaker 2: with a grocery store and they were able to get
- 29:52Speaker 2: tomatoes and avocados and whatever, you know, produce. for cost
- 29:56Speaker 2: to sell to the neighborhood. So the kids had an
- 29:59Speaker 2: entrepreneurial program. They were able to provide healthy food in
- 30:02Speaker 2: a place where there wasn't a grocery store within walking distance,
- 30:04Speaker 2: that sort of thing. But the problem with a food
- 30:07Speaker 2: mart in an open air area on some pavement in
- 30:10Speaker 2: Chicago is it gets cold. And so I was really
- 30:14Speaker 2: moved by this story and they were having to shut
- 30:17Speaker 2: down the food mart around holiday season in Chicago. And
- 30:21Speaker 2: so we did this radiothon. I did this 24 hour radiothon.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I called it the, what about Chicago radiothon? Like turning
- 30:27Speaker 2: it on its head. Like you talking about Chicago? What
- 30:29Speaker 2: about Chicago? And broadcast for 24 hours, brought on a
- 30:33Speaker 2: lot of those athletes who funded the grocery store, brought
- 30:35Speaker 2: on the kids, brought on people who talked about the
- 30:37Speaker 2: benefits of, you know, closing food deserts. And we raised
- 30:41Speaker 2: $ 670, 000 and built a 1700 square foot, uh, refrigeration, security,
- 30:52Speaker 2: grocery store that still exists in Austin to this day
- 30:54Speaker 2: that is fully staffed by kids.
- 30:57Speaker 1: That is pretty incredible. Coming up next, we'll talk about
- 30:59Speaker 1: the incredible Austin Reeves. All right, Ryan, you got DraftKings
- 31:06Speaker 1: Pick 6 for the folks.
- 31:07Speaker 6: All right, that's right, Bo. Football is back, and so
- 31:09Speaker 6: is your shot at big wins with DraftKings Pick 6,

- 32:16Speaker 3: All right, we are back with Danny Parkins.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I want to switch to a little NBA because I
- 32:22Speaker 1: do think what's going on with the Lakers right now
- 32:23Speaker 1: is really, really interesting, right? So start the year, Luka
- 32:26Speaker 1: puts up 40 with LeBron sitting there saying nothing.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Been there, been there. No, no, nothing's wrong. No, I
- 32:35Speaker 2: just want to watch the game.
- 32:37Speaker 3: The problem is you asking me if something's wrong.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You know, so we've seen that. Then Luka put up
- 32:42Speaker 1: another 40 in game two and he gets hurt. And
- 32:45Speaker 1: then Austin Reeves comes out and puts up a 50,
- 32:48Speaker 1: 11 and nine and then puts up another 40 the
- 32:52Speaker 1: next night. This is, hey man, I don't know what
- 32:56Speaker 1: this means, but there was a time when Austin Reeves
- 32:58Speaker 1: would do this and this is like the AR-15. Hey man,
- 33:01Speaker 1: he'd be the most famous man in America right now
- 33:03Speaker 1: for putting up this run. Like maybe he needed to
- 33:05Speaker 1: do this when he was a little sorrier and then
- 33:07Speaker 1: it could be Linsanity.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and football season. We are peak college football, NFL,
- 33:16Speaker 2: the unbelievable World Series. No one's paying attention to early
- 33:20Speaker 2: season NBA unless it's Victor Wembanyama.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Who? I mean, ridiculous. But yeah, I mean, Austin Reeves
- 33:31Speaker 2: right now is averaging a cool 34 points, five and
- 33:36Speaker 2: a half boards, 10 assists. 1.8 steals.
- 33:41Speaker 4: That'll play.
- 33:42Speaker 2: That'll play for the headband wearing Austin Reeves. And in
- 33:46Speaker 2: 38 minutes a night, like second best player on the team.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Oh. Just saying.
- 33:56Speaker 3: I'm not ready to do that. I understand you.
- 34:02Speaker 1: There's certainly a plausible statistical argument for this fact.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Now, let me ask this question because this.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Is what I think is interesting about it, which is
- 34:10Speaker 1: when the Linsanity run happened, a lot of people said, well, hey,
- 34:13Speaker 1: if you let me come out here and run high
- 34:15Speaker 1: pick and roll every time down the floor, it would
- 34:18Speaker 1: look similar too. There was a guy named Matt Maloney
- 34:20Speaker 1: who played for the Rockets who during the playoffs one
- 34:23Speaker 1: year did the same thing to Gary Payton.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Gary Payton was furious. Cause he's like, it's just high
- 34:28Speaker 3: screen to roll every time.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Like you get out here and do, I mean, cause
- 34:32Speaker 1: Matt Maloney, by the way, was like if Austin Reeves
- 34:35Speaker 1: went to prep school.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Like he went to UPenn, if I'm not mistaken.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Oh, nice.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:41Speaker 3: And he's out here giving it to Gary Payne, right?
- 34:44Speaker 2: It was a similar sort of thing.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Is Austin Reeves a guy where if you create a
- 34:48Speaker 1: circumstance that allows him to be your best player, he
- 34:51Speaker 1: could be the guy who does this. You don't necessarily
- 34:54Speaker 1: win anything. but he could put up big numbers under
- 34:56Speaker 1: these circumstances. But does that mean he's actually a guy
- 34:59Speaker 1: that could be the second or third best player on
- 35:01Speaker 1: a really good team? Because like the way it's looking,
- 35:04Speaker 1: I think we all agree. Luke is a top five
- 35:06Speaker 1: to seven player in the league.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 1: If Austin Reeves is a credible number two, Right? Because, look,
- 35:13Speaker 1: I don't know how much LeBron is actually going to
- 35:14Speaker 1: play this year. Not that he doesn't want to, but
- 35:17Speaker 1: a man his age, I don't think you can just
- 35:19Speaker 1: write down 65 games.
- 35:20Speaker 3: That's not, you know, he got my back hurt right now.
- 35:26Speaker 2: All right? That's right.
- 35:27Speaker 1: That's a thing.
- 35:28Speaker 2: That's a thing.
- 35:29Speaker 1: But I don't know what Austin Reeves is. I guess
- 35:32Speaker 1: we've seen what Austin Reeves is if he's the two
- 35:34Speaker 1: or three. And it wasn't anything that made us believe
- 35:36Speaker 1: that he could be the guy that scores 50 when
- 35:38Speaker 1: he's got the chance.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Right. So like, I don't know. There's a, there's a
- 35:43Speaker 2: few things here. I think that the NBA is the
- 35:46Speaker 2: only sport that real realistically has enough talent where I
- 35:49Speaker 2: would be totally comfortable with expansion. Like there are, there's
- 35:53Speaker 2: so many talented basketball players that are on the bench
- 35:56Speaker 2: that I'm not like to your point, I'm not saying
- 35:57Speaker 2: that it would be if they got their moment in
- 36:00Speaker 2: the sun, that they would be the best player on
- 36:02Speaker 2: a championship team, but that they could average 27 a game.
- 36:06Speaker 2: and look like an NBA player. We see those types
- 36:08Speaker 2: of stories all the time where guys come in and
- 36:11Speaker 2: make an outsized impact. And you're like, who the hell
- 36:12Speaker 2: is that guy? And it's like, yeah, he just got
- 36:14Speaker 2: the minutes. Like someone got to get buckets on bad teams.
- 36:16Speaker 2: It's an NBA truism. But I also believe that to
- 36:21Speaker 2: really win in the NBA of your top three guys,
- 36:27Speaker 2: two of them have to be two way players. Yeah.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Like you can't have like the, the bulls team, A
- 36:34Speaker 2: couple of years ago, like Chicago guy, love the Bulls,
- 36:37Speaker 2: like DeMar DeRozan, Zach Levine, Nikola Vucevic, where there are
- 36:42Speaker 2: three highest paid players. There are three, quote unquote, best players.
- 36:45Speaker 2: All of them were traffic cones. Right.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 36:49Speaker 2: And it's like, well, then they had Caruso and they
- 36:51Speaker 2: had Lonzo Ball. And like, yeah, but then Lonzo got hurt, whatever.
- 36:54Speaker 2: But like you, why Giannis is so special is because
- 36:56Speaker 2: he's a two way impact player. Right.
- 36:58Speaker 3: The Knicks are in this bind.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Exactly. Brunson and Cat are their best players, but they
- 37:04Speaker 2: are both liabilities on the defensive end of the court.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Your best players need to you need to also have
- 37:09Speaker 2: an impact from them defensively or else it's too hard
- 37:11Speaker 2: to construct your team based on the money. So I
- 37:14Speaker 2: don't think Luca, Austin Reeves and LeBron as your big three,
- 37:18Speaker 2: quote unquote, at this stage of what LeBron can do
- 37:21Speaker 2: athletically with availability, athleticism and the oh, my back hurts.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I don't think that that's a thing that can win anything.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Hey, Ken, I see what I don't know and I
- 37:30Speaker 1: need to watch them more closely. I need to find
- 37:32Speaker 1: out if Austin Reeves really isn't a good defensive player or,
- 37:36Speaker 1: you know, y'all out here, crabs in a barrel, don't
- 37:39Speaker 1: want to give no props to y'all's countrymen and acknowledge
- 37:42Speaker 1: the possibility that he might be out here playing some defense.
- 37:45Speaker 1: But I'm going to tell you this right now, Austin Reeves,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and then we'll give you some very important advice, okay?
- 37:50Speaker 1: You keep balling like this and things have changed a
- 37:54Speaker 1: little bit. but I still think there's a lot of
- 37:57Speaker 1: money out there for you just as being the one
- 38:00Speaker 1: that's not like the other.
- 38:01Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 38:02Speaker 1: Like you can really, you're going to be talking to
- 38:04Speaker 1: all the schools, like all the kids going to be out,
- 38:06Speaker 1: you know, like it's, it's the world is.
- 38:09Speaker 3: The games out there, games out there waiting.
- 38:12Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 38:13Speaker 1: It's all there for Austin Reeves, but this is a
- 38:14Speaker 1: very important thing that he and his marketing people need
- 38:17Speaker 1: to understand. They're going to stop loving you, or at
- 38:21Speaker 1: least they're not going to have you in the same category.
- 38:24Speaker 1: if you mess around and start getting your hair cut
- 38:27Speaker 1: with the rest of the team.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Okay?
- 38:30Speaker 3: Maybe you need to go get your hair.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Cut where Rui get his hair cut, because he does
- 38:34Speaker 1: not seem to get his hair cut with the rest
- 38:36Speaker 1: of the team, but you need to keep that floppy
- 38:38Speaker 1: shit going.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Like, you think about this.
- 38:40Speaker 1: They don't give Tyler Hero no bonus white boy points
- 38:42Speaker 1: at basketball, and I think it is entirely tied to
- 38:45Speaker 1: white people believe in the quality of your whiteness based
- 38:48Speaker 1: on how cool your haircut is. And if you mess
- 38:51Speaker 1: up and get a cool haircut, It's all going to
- 38:54Speaker 1: go away. Like even Luca, Luca's haircut is like moderately cool.
- 38:58Speaker 3: He ain't really going there. Like Tyler Hero looked like
- 39:00Speaker 3: he might fly his barber around.
- 39:04Speaker 2: So should he go all the way with the Kirk
- 39:07Speaker 2: Cousins sport clip sponsorship?
- 39:10Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying, there's more money in that.
- 39:13Speaker 1: That playwright, that archetype, right? You could do that. It
- 39:16Speaker 1: would help him if he was from the Midwest, because Arkansas,
- 39:19Speaker 1: people talk bad about Arkansas. But if he was from
- 39:22Speaker 1: Indiana or Iowa or Kansas or one of those places
- 39:26Speaker 1: and was just out here flopping it, it'd be it'd
- 39:29Speaker 1: be good times for him.
- 39:30Speaker 2: How do you feel if he went like the Justin
- 39:33Speaker 2: Herbert route and like got himself a very famous Madison
- 39:36Speaker 2: beer type like chatting, chatting someone up courtside at a
- 39:41Speaker 2: Lakers game?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Could see that's going to be the key for him
- 39:43Speaker 1: is like what he parlays this into.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Right.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Because like I say, the world right now is his oyster.
- 39:51Speaker 1: There are guys in the NBA that you would know of,
- 39:54Speaker 1: but aren't necessarily top 50, 75 guys. And I know
- 39:57Speaker 1: the people that they's able to get hooked up with.
- 39:59Speaker 1: And I'm talking about black ones. They is able to
- 40:01Speaker 1: get into some places that I'm telling you, Austin Reeves
- 40:03Speaker 1: might be able to put you just show up with
- 40:05Speaker 1: the right car at the mall. And you might have
- 40:07Speaker 1: a chance at making that happen. But right now the Lakers,
- 40:10Speaker 1: the Lakers ain't just had a regular degular white dude
- 40:13Speaker 1: really out here killing it since Jerry West.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Oh, damn.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Like, they was happy about Kurt Rambis.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Well, you said before we started recording of, like, it's
- 40:26Speaker 2: the type of guy who 8-year-old me would own his jersey.
- 40:28Speaker 4: That's right.
- 40:29Speaker 2: That's right. I've been thinking about that for the last
- 40:30Speaker 2: 39 minutes, and it's so true. Like, it's just, like,
- 40:35Speaker 2: so on the nose. Like, when I saw Jon Paxson
- 40:38Speaker 2: as a kid, I was like, I can play in
- 40:39Speaker 2: the NBA?
- 40:40Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like this. You would not just have the jersey.
- 40:42Speaker 1: You would have the jersey because your parents would buy
- 40:44Speaker 1: it for you. Like, that's... You can be anything you
- 40:48Speaker 1: want to be, son.
- 40:49Speaker 2: That's right.
- 40:50Speaker 3: That's right.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Like, Austin Reeves should play for the Patriots. Like, it's
- 40:55Speaker 1: that kind of situation. But he actually, he's good. Like,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I think that's an important thing to know. Like, Alex
- 41:00Speaker 1: Caruso became an interesting case because people couldn't figure out
- 41:02Speaker 1: what to do with, hey, he's an NBA player. Austin
- 41:05Speaker 1: Reeves appears to be a better than average NBA, like, maybe,
- 41:10Speaker 1: you know, 70th percentile NBA player.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I mean....
- 41:17Speaker 3: I mean, he's putting up 50 points.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I was going to say, I feel like we may
- 41:20Speaker 2: need to go a little higher than the 70th percentile.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Look, man, I got to be careful. I can't get
- 41:27Speaker 1: too wrapped up here, but that's a fair point.
- 41:30Speaker 2: I don't think that 30% of players in the NBA
- 41:34Speaker 2: can drop 50. That's a good question.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Right? Okay, so I don't think 30% of the NBA
- 41:40Speaker 1: could drop 50 and then drop 40 the next night.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Right. That's, I guess that is more accurately what I'm saying. Like,
- 41:47Speaker 2: I think that that is, that is a real amount
- 41:50Speaker 2: of production.
- 41:51Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 41:52Speaker 2: That is just really impressive. I'm not saying he's Donovan Mitchell,
- 41:57Speaker 2: you know, I'm not saying he's that level of score,
- 42:00Speaker 2: but I think, I don't think he's in the 70th
- 42:02Speaker 2: percentile of players. And yeah, like Caruso is an interesting
- 42:05Speaker 2: one too. Like Caruso is excellent at defense and then
- 42:10Speaker 2: he can like do a couple other things. Like But
- 42:12Speaker 2: Alex Caruso is not going to go out there and
- 42:14Speaker 2: go like 30-10-10.
- 42:16Speaker 3: You're correct.
- 42:17Speaker 2: You know, so the white specialist is one thing. Like
- 42:21Speaker 2: the white American all-around hooper. Right. It's a rare breed.
- 42:27Speaker 1: We got a white boy scoring putting up 50, and
- 42:30Speaker 1: we got a white boy playing on the all-defense team.
- 42:34Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Hey, man.
- 42:37Speaker 4: And the number one pick. That's right.
- 42:39Speaker 2: That's right. And the number one pick.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Not just the number one pick, but like the number
- 42:42Speaker 1: one pick and everybody sees it.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Look, man, it's been a lot of times that y'all
- 42:46Speaker 3: could have just quit.
- 42:47Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 42:48Speaker 1: It's been a lot of opportunities that y'all had to
- 42:50Speaker 1: just turn around. The way you've been getting shit on
- 42:52Speaker 1: by all these people and people saying that y'all ain't
- 42:54Speaker 1: got it.
- 42:55Speaker 3: But these cats kept on going. These cats, they kept
- 42:57Speaker 3: on pushing through. You know what I'm saying? In spite
- 43:00Speaker 3: of all the bad influences that was around them.
- 43:03Speaker 2: It's a story of perseverance. It is. Really.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Hey, man.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Look, man.
- 43:08Speaker 3: You got like we always talk.
- 43:09Speaker 1: A guy called my radio show many years ago said
- 43:11Speaker 1: to be as short as a constant fight for credibility.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I don't know if that is the case. And that
- 43:15Speaker 3: is true.
- 43:15Speaker 1: You know, neither of us got to deal with that.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So the rest of y'all, you know, we this is
- 43:19Speaker 1: what we heard about y'all. But at the same time,
- 43:22Speaker 1: it'd be as short as a fight for credibility. I
- 43:24Speaker 1: can't imagine what it is to be a white basketball player.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Hey, wait. Made a fairly popular movie about it.
- 43:30Speaker 4: They did.
- 43:31Speaker 2: White man can't jump. Got the hustle on. You put
- 43:34Speaker 2: a cat in the oven, don't make it a biscuit. Yes.
- 43:38Speaker 3: This is.
- 43:39Speaker 1: It is the wildest thing because white people just gave
- 43:43Speaker 1: up on it. Like, black people at every turn, you
- 43:45Speaker 1: tell us we can't do it.
- 43:46Speaker 2: It'll be a few.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Well, I don't want to use that word right now,
- 43:49Speaker 1: but it'll be a few dissenters that'll be quietly like,
- 43:52Speaker 1: y'all know we can't do that. But at least in
- 43:53Speaker 1: front of people, we're going to be like, hey, we
- 43:55Speaker 1: can do anything the white man can do. White people
- 43:57Speaker 1: don't even try that with a few different things. And
- 43:59Speaker 1: then when you get one.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Get a little bit too excited.
- 44:02Speaker 1: So I kind of feel like right now, it's the nice,
- 44:07Speaker 1: wonderful in-between stage.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Yeah. And again, we're not... You mentioned Linsanity in passing. I...
- 44:16Speaker 2: That is not what is happening with Austin Reeves.
- 44:18Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no.
- 44:19Speaker 1: I'm only saying it's insanity in the sense that you
- 44:22Speaker 1: can put up, if you give a guy low expectations
- 44:26Speaker 1: and say the world is yours, that there's a set
- 44:29Speaker 1: of numbers that you could put up that doesn't necessarily
- 44:31Speaker 1: reflect where you stand in the real concept of team basketball.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that is totally fair. And I do think that
- 44:40Speaker 2: we're going to get a fairly long runway here. for
- 44:44Speaker 2: Austin Reeves because of the LeBron injury and there'll be
- 44:47Speaker 2: plenty on national TV and playing off of Luca is
- 44:50Speaker 2: a good place to play. Like I, I think, I
- 44:52Speaker 2: think Austin Reeves is in a real nice position to
- 44:55Speaker 2: make an all-star team.
- 44:57Speaker 3: It's on the board.
- 44:57Speaker 1: And let me tell you this, man, if him and
- 44:59Speaker 1: Luca get out there balling together, they're going to be
- 45:01Speaker 1: a movie about starring them about that. They go, the
- 45:04Speaker 1: new lethal weapon is just going to be them or
- 45:08Speaker 1: like Starsky and Hutch.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Well, that's going to be an interesting basketball question in
- 45:15Speaker 2: the post-LeBron world of the Lakers. Like, can that be
- 45:19Speaker 2: your big two?
- 45:22Speaker 3: That will completely change the game.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Like that, that, that'll make me and my people be like,
- 45:28Speaker 1: we lose the country, bro.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 2: There's going to be a, there's going to be a reckoning. Like,
- 45:32Speaker 2: you don't wait. The Lakers don't need a seven foot
- 45:35Speaker 2: center anymore. They need Luca and a guy named Austin
- 45:38Speaker 2: from Arkansas. Yes.
- 45:40Speaker 3: The silver Lake Lakers are in the house.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Right. Before we get out of here, you enjoy engaging
- 45:47Speaker 1: in the gambling a little bit more than I do.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Your top line thoughts of the last week.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Oh, damn, man. Well, Chauncey's in trouble. He's in big trouble.
- 46:04Speaker 2: If it was just the poker side of it, I
- 46:11Speaker 2: wonder if there would be a way to totally prove
- 46:14Speaker 2: that he knew about it and or if he was
- 46:17Speaker 2: just in the pocket of the mob and got in
- 46:20Speaker 2: too deep. But it's the vulnerabilities that are there are obvious.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I do think as the gambler, it is important for
- 46:28Speaker 2: me to make the point that the reason why Jonte
- 46:33Speaker 2: Porter's unders was exposed so quickly or Terry Rozier's unders
- 46:37Speaker 2: was exposed so quickly was because it was legalized. Like
- 46:42Speaker 2: the regulation is what exposed it. You're not betting five figures,
- 46:46Speaker 2: much less six figures on the seventh or eighth guy
- 46:49Speaker 2: on a team's player prop market on a given night.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Like we like to gamble, but we don't like to
- 46:53Speaker 2: gamble that much. So like that, that is a, that
- 46:56Speaker 2: is a stupid crime that those guys committed. Like it
- 46:59Speaker 2: was just, it was, it was a crime of stupidity
- 47:02Speaker 2: because they were obviously going to get caught when they
- 47:06Speaker 2: did that. Um, People say, you know, there's a cost
- 47:09Speaker 2: that comes with these leagues taking the money. And of
- 47:13Speaker 2: course that is true, but I'm not sure that people,
- 47:16Speaker 2: and I know that you do like have a full
- 47:18Speaker 2: grasp of just how much money it is. It it's,
- 47:23Speaker 2: there was a point in time. If you listen to
- 47:25Speaker 2: sports radio, the only thing you heard was car dealership commercials.
- 47:31Speaker 2: And then there was a point in time where it
- 47:33Speaker 2: was like beer distributors and every radio station in every
- 47:36Speaker 2: market in the country, was doing one or two remote
- 47:39Speaker 2: broadcasts a week, and the liquor reps were just paying
- 47:43Speaker 2: five figures in the big markets for you to just
- 47:45Speaker 2: show up with your radio show at bars because they
- 47:47Speaker 2: were just spending money in that way, hand over fist.
- 47:50Speaker 2: That is now the gambling companies. So, like, of course
- 47:57Speaker 2: the leagues are going to take the money. And there's
- 47:59Speaker 2: a cost that comes with it. But they are absolutely
- 48:03Speaker 2: willing to pay the cost because... of the massive amounts
- 48:07Speaker 2: of money that it is. And I know you said
- 48:10Speaker 2: top line thoughts and I've given you like, but like
- 48:13Speaker 2: the other part is, is that the leagues and the
- 48:17Speaker 2: gambling companies, their interests on catching this stuff is a
- 48:25Speaker 2: hundred percent aligned. Like the league doesn't want the integrity
- 48:29Speaker 2: of their games in question. And the gambling sites don't
- 48:33Speaker 2: want to be took for a bunch of money. on
- 48:36Speaker 2: some on some funny bets so like I think there
- 48:38Speaker 2: are some solves for some of it like don't make
- 48:42Speaker 2: player props a two-way market and by that I mean
- 48:46Speaker 2: you can't bet the under like you've got a if
- 48:49Speaker 2: you want to if you want to bet Austin Reeves
- 48:51Speaker 2: points you can't say under 48 and a half you
- 48:56Speaker 2: you've got it's got it's got to just be a
- 48:57Speaker 2: straight over like I think that helps some of it
- 49:00Speaker 2: but this story could have been a lot worse um
- 49:05Speaker 2: And it probably will be at some point. And that's
- 49:08Speaker 2: just the reality. And you can say that that was avoidable,
- 49:15Speaker 2: but Pete Rose was a big story. The Black Sox
- 49:18Speaker 2: were a big story. You know what I mean? Gambling
- 49:22Speaker 2: is something that's happened for forever. Prohibition doesn't work. Legalization, taxation,
- 49:27Speaker 2: regulation is going to catch most of this stuff, but
- 49:30Speaker 2: there will be more controversies that come of it. There's
- 49:32Speaker 2: no question. Yeah, I think they're going to have to
- 49:34Speaker 2: ask themselves the question that a.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Hard ban on gambling from the participants in the league,
- 49:41Speaker 1: because I think to me, the real vulnerability we've talked
- 49:43Speaker 1: about this, so I don't have to go too deep,
- 49:45Speaker 1: is the idea that Chauncey Billings could wind up in
- 49:47Speaker 1: this place is the question that you need to get
- 49:50Speaker 1: to the bottom of and figure out how many more.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I mean, Damon Jones, too.
- 49:53Speaker 2: But like how many? I mean, I guess Terry Rozier. Right.
- 49:56Speaker 3: Like they all have the hallmarks of I owe people
- 49:59Speaker 3: a lot of money.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Gambling is an addiction. But if you even if you said, though, Bo,
- 50:05Speaker 2: you cannot bet you cannot set foot in a casino.
- 50:08Speaker 2: You cannot bet sports, even the sports that you don't play. Man,
- 50:13Speaker 2: you don't think Chauncey Billups can find an offshore bookie
- 50:18Speaker 2: or an underground card game?
- 50:19Speaker 3: You're totally right.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Well, what you would have to do to make it
- 50:21Speaker 1: work is you'd have to make an example out of
- 50:24Speaker 1: a couple of people. and catch somebody and toss them
- 50:26Speaker 1: out the league just for going to a casino or
- 50:29Speaker 1: something made. That's what you would have to do, and
- 50:30Speaker 1: I don't think they're willing to engage in that part.
- 50:35Speaker 1: They're also lucky as of right now. Chauncey Billups is
- 50:38Speaker 1: a pretty big name, but on the player front, it
- 50:39Speaker 1: hasn't been a name that matters. You mess around and
- 50:42Speaker 1: get one of those. Now, that's when they are in trouble,
- 50:48Speaker 1: but I do think that as a media, we are
- 50:49Speaker 1: downplaying this a little bit because it's a little bad
- 50:53Speaker 1: for business to be as honest as we should.
- 50:55Speaker 2: No, listen, I think that there's definitely some truth in that.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Basketball is susceptible to this, but so is tennis.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Yes, but tennis has historically had match fixing.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Match fixing. Yeah, but I guess my point, though, is, man,
- 51:15Speaker 2: if I was a golfer, you can bet on if
- 51:19Speaker 2: I'm going to have over or under 68.5 on my
- 51:20Speaker 2: next round. and if I told my boy to bet
- 51:25Speaker 2: the over, but I felt like I can make the
- 51:28Speaker 2: cut and still shoot a 69 or a 70, but
- 51:30Speaker 2: I can make that extra money on the side. Like,
- 51:32Speaker 2: I think you can do it in any sport and
- 51:36Speaker 2: toothpaste might be out of the tube on this one.
- 51:38Speaker 2: And I, and I know that's fatalistic on some, on
- 51:41Speaker 2: some level, but like, I just think these things are
- 51:44Speaker 2: going to pop up. You're going to have to, I agree,
- 51:46Speaker 2: be very, very harsh in your punishment. I said this,
- 51:51Speaker 2: I think with Colin, Do you think, and it's, I mean,
- 51:53Speaker 2: the guy might go to prison, so it's a different,
- 51:55Speaker 2: it's not high on his list of priorities. You think
- 51:57Speaker 2: they're going to throw Chauncey Billups out of the Hall
- 51:58Speaker 2: of Fame? I don't think they should.
- 52:02Speaker 1: I guess they could, but I just, I don't, I
- 52:05Speaker 1: don't believe in, in Eraser in that way.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Neither do I. You know what I mean?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Like, I don't, I think that would be inappropriate, but
- 52:12Speaker 1: it depends on if somebody wants to grandstand, right?
- 52:14Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I'm just, you were talking about like,
- 52:16Speaker 2: they have to like really make examples of these people, right?
- 52:19Speaker 2: Like if they really want to say, like just, be
- 52:22Speaker 2: as harsh as you possibly can on all of the
- 52:25Speaker 2: punishments across the board to like really try to be
- 52:28Speaker 2: maximum deterrent. Like, I don't, I don't know. I don't
- 52:33Speaker 2: know what you're going to do because prohibition, like I said,
- 52:36Speaker 2: it doesn't work. It is an addiction. I agree with you.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Like a lot of this stuff reads as like these
- 52:41Speaker 2: guys with all that money still needed money. Yeah.
- 52:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:45Speaker 1: I need, I need it now. Need it by Friday.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Need it by Friday.
- 52:54Speaker 2: And organized crime. Still in the league. Still in the league.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Everybody's so surprised that organized crime is.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Still in the league.
- 53:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, what do you think they did?
- 53:03Speaker 2: Fold it up? Still in the league.
- 53:07Speaker 1: That concrete don't sell itself. You know what I'm saying?
- 53:11Speaker 1: There are runs of businesses that are theirs.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the... I'll paraphrase from the Sopranos, businesses that are recession-proof. Yes.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Some aspects of Hollywood and our thing.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Man, there is a 15-year-old story about the ice cream
- 53:30Speaker 1: truck business in New York City.
- 53:33Speaker 3: And basically, there's Mr.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Softy that everybody knows and there's this other company I
- 53:37Speaker 1: can't remember the name of. But anything that involves just
- 53:40Speaker 1: staking out real estate is very susceptible to criminals because-
- 53:45Speaker 1: The willingness to bust somebody's head in it. Basically, this
- 53:48Speaker 1: company was running Mr. Softee off the block at every turn.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Mr.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Softee was hitting their people like, yo, why you why
- 53:55Speaker 1: you leave it?
- 53:55Speaker 3: And they're like, you go stand out there.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Right. And it was very clear that like, oh, a
- 54:00Speaker 1: syndicate of some sort is running the ice cream game.
- 54:03Speaker 1: All I'm saying is.
- 54:04Speaker 3: There are a lot of games that they why would
- 54:08Speaker 3: they give them up? Why would they stop?
- 54:10Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not saying that every place that is
- 54:13Speaker 2: like this has that element to it, but cash businesses,
- 54:16Speaker 2: you ever go to a restaurant and they're like, cash only? Yes.
- 54:19Speaker 2: You're like, cash only? Yes. In 2025? All right, you're
- 54:24Speaker 2: not reporting everything on the books.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, cash only, cash only. Cash in the bag, B,
- 54:29Speaker 3: cash in the bag.
- 54:30Speaker 1: That is Danny Park. Let's check him out on FS1,
- 54:33Speaker 1: First Things First, 5 o'clock Eastern on your cable dial.
- 54:37Speaker 3: My brother, I appreciate you.
