- 0:18Speaker 1: Return to Glory past season six, some big, big big changes.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Big change. Number one, we are live on video. Austin
- 0:33Speaker 1: dressed up in Nebraska attire hunters.
- 0:36Speaker 2: At least for the first time. You know, you got
- 0:38Speaker 2: it at least for something right.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Got something on it. I got their turn to glory.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Had a dak. What do you got for yourself?
- 0:47Speaker 3: Twenty sixteen Beatris football playoff shirt?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Good year?
- 0:53Speaker 1: What happened to the ou?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Had that is down in the Ozarks, in the bottom
- 0:58Speaker 3: of the lake.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Where it belongs right honors on that boat.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And he went turned around to go get it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, two minutes later he goes, oh shit, my hat.
- 1:14Speaker 2: It just fell off while you're zipping on the water.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it flew away. I wouldn't find its way. Well.
- 1:23Speaker 1: One of the reasons we didn't want to go on
- 1:25Speaker 1: video was, you know, so everybody could one watch, but Dak,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I wanted everybody to see that you did wear that
- 1:31Speaker 1: same hat and a lot of times the same shirt
- 1:34Speaker 1: every podcast.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And one podcast no shirt. If you remember correctly, remember
- 1:39Speaker 2: that I was shirtless part of it. You were changing
- 1:43Speaker 2: clothes while we were doing it. I don't remember why.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We may need to get some age verification on that
- 1:50Speaker 1: d Now the new laws, I.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Don't remember that one, but the return to Glory OnlyFans Paige.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Te oh, well, welcome back to everyone. New season, New
- 2:06Speaker 1: things in store for the podcast is here obviously, like
- 2:09Speaker 1: I mentioned before, being on video, that also means we
- 2:12Speaker 1: will be on YouTube eventually. We will be trying to
- 2:16Speaker 1: get us live and we're going to go every Sunday
- 2:20Speaker 1: and Wednesday night at around nine o'clock. That may change
- 2:24Speaker 1: a little bit, but hopefully we'll be live at some point,
- 2:27Speaker 1: but the videos will be recorded posted on YouTube. You
- 2:31Speaker 1: can still find us on Twitter at Gloria Return, on
- 2:35Speaker 1: Apple podcast, on Google Podcasts, Spotify podcast, anywhere else you
- 2:41Speaker 1: find your podcast. We will be there Austin. It's season
- 2:45Speaker 1: six for US, season two for Dak. We're finally just
- 2:49Speaker 1: making some big strides. Everybody can finally see what we
- 2:52Speaker 1: look like.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Uh huh, this is you know we've been saying, you know,
- 2:56Speaker 5: season three was our breakout here. This is really the uh,
- 2:59Speaker 5: this is the this is the you know, there's the
- 3:02Speaker 5: six year rebuild, what's the concal herd thing. There's a
- 3:04Speaker 5: six year green build and a two year rebuild. This
- 3:07Speaker 5: we're part of the six year green build this.
- 3:10Speaker 2: You're sick.
- 3:10Speaker 1: We're part of where you know we got two year five?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Were like, all right, is it's worked to continue? You know,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we still like to give our thoughts, our takes on
- 3:18Speaker 1: Husker sports. We bring in a non Husker fan that
- 3:22Speaker 1: gave us a spark, got things rolling last year. Now
- 3:25Speaker 1: it's taking that next step, so we're not staying stagnant
- 3:28Speaker 1: here that We'll start with you. You know, it's been
- 3:33Speaker 1: two months, two three months since we got off air.
- 3:36Speaker 1: How's life been. Update the people on what they want
- 3:39Speaker 1: to hear.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Oh, it's been pretty good. Nothing too crazy has been happening.
- 3:44Speaker 4: I've been looking at I've been watching a lot of
- 3:48Speaker 4: preseason stuff football last couple of weeks, getting ready for it.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we've been watching stuff for just playing the
- 3:56Speaker 1: video game.
- 3:57Speaker 4: A little bit of it feels like it's taking ever
- 4:00Speaker 4: to get here, Like let's kick off.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Already, I mean thirty five days away now thirty four days.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I think we were five weeks from yesterday from when
- 4:14Speaker 1: week one utep so week zero's four weeks around the corner.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's here. I thought July flew by
- 4:23Speaker 1: the last couple of months have really flown by. There's
- 4:27Speaker 1: been a lot of, as always, discussion on this team
- 4:32Speaker 1: this year, and the win total has been out and
- 4:34Speaker 1: published seven and a half. We can talk about that
- 4:37Speaker 1: here in a little bit as well. I think it's
- 4:42Speaker 1: a pretty fair number, believe it or not.
- 4:45Speaker 2: H Yeah, it's almost as if the books know what
- 4:48Speaker 2: they're doing. They want to put a number that's hard
- 4:51Speaker 2: to pick over.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Austin, What is up with your life the last couple
- 4:57Speaker 1: of months?
- 4:57Speaker 5: It's been busy. You know, we're at that a it's
- 5:00Speaker 5: the wedding age. Last time I saw you, Hunter, were
- 5:02Speaker 5: we were throwing up in a grocery store, calling in
- 5:04Speaker 5: a wedding that I remember correctly.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Thanks for mentioning that.
- 5:08Speaker 2: What we yeah, wedding. We rode, we carpooled. We had
- 5:14Speaker 2: to pull over on the way home so Hunter could
- 5:16Speaker 2: throw up in a grocery store. It's the most fitting
- 5:19Speaker 2: way to do it.
- 5:22Speaker 3: You're just sick.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I had one job that night was to get Austin drunk,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and I think I succeeded, but also brought myself down
- 5:30Speaker 1: with it.
- 5:30Speaker 5: I was there, but you were slaving them quicker than
- 5:32Speaker 5: I could. You bring me one, and then you'd probably
- 5:35Speaker 5: drink two in the and then it's the Tekila Shots Stand.
- 5:39Speaker 5: That's downtown Lee's Summit, Dak. It's a good place, a
- 5:44Speaker 5: lot of excitement.
- 5:46Speaker 4: I've never been drunk, so I don't even know what
- 5:49Speaker 4: that's about.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, we believe that. I'm also you've been drunk
- 5:55Speaker 5: on this podcast. So with YouTube, that might be a thing.
- 6:01Speaker 1: We got back to. Need to get a different drink
- 6:03Speaker 1: every podcast and share it with the people. What he's drinking.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Shots, no comment, No, it was just summer of weddings,
- 6:13Speaker 2: some of our family gatherings. So ready for football, ready
- 6:17Speaker 2: for fall, and.
- 6:20Speaker 1: We're here, I think Hall of Fame game, all ready
- 6:24Speaker 1: for the NFL's coming up. Normally, normally July is the
- 6:29Speaker 1: DoD days of summer for sports. And you know what,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I think this year.
- 6:33Speaker 2: For summer saved the summer. That's what it was.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It did. And and and Olympics like mm hmmm, we're here,
- 6:41Speaker 1: We're we're we're rolling. How about that today before we
- 6:45Speaker 1: get us for sports talking, we got Lebron a thirty
- 6:50Speaker 1: nine year old just taking over. And I'll give I'll
- 6:54Speaker 1: give Kevin Durant credit where credits due. That was pretty impressive.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Against the Serbians today.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a really good basketball game. You know,
- 7:05Speaker 2: the beginning had this all a little worried. It was
- 7:07Speaker 2: a rough start, but yeah, Lebron and Katie were freaking incredible.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Jason Tatum really pitched in a lot today too.
- 7:15Speaker 3: He was sick. Oh he was, Yeah, he was, he
- 7:19Speaker 3: was sick.
- 7:21Speaker 4: That's that's that's my scouting port was Yokich sucks and
- 7:23Speaker 4: jays Dam was sick.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Yeah, Okay, Drew Holliday better than Jason Tatum, question Mark.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'll tell you what Drew Holliday is. He's a needed
- 7:35Speaker 1: piece on that team. Like he does exactly what he
- 7:38Speaker 1: needs to do. A role player, defender, lock down their
- 7:41Speaker 1: point guard, make everything tough, doesn't need to score a
- 7:43Speaker 1: whole lot, but can make an open shot. He's a key,
- 7:47Speaker 1: might be might be more of a key than Jason Tatum.
- 7:50Speaker 5: Oh, he'll definitely be a bigger role than Jason Tatum.
- 7:53Speaker 5: There's like four guys on the roster who gonna be
- 7:55Speaker 5: Jason Tatum's role.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Once he gets to the feeling better, he'll be balling out.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yah eight and a half points a game, two rebounds,
- 8:05Speaker 2: seventeen minutes.
- 8:06Speaker 1: A game, seven hang on I'll be right back now.
- 8:09Speaker 1: They got video and I got to show you something.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Uh, oh, here we go.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, can you get just sent the summer celebrating. Oh
- 8:17Speaker 2: there we go.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Case we get up. We get up at six thirty
- 8:25Speaker 1: on Saturday morning with the plans to watch case A
- 8:30Speaker 1: just dominate.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah that worked out real well for you, did it?
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. I was so pissed, so just to
- 8:36Speaker 1: lay it, lay it out there watching a little bit
- 8:39Speaker 1: of the warm ups, like two minutes before game starts.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Case is on a normal team's bench, the first person
- 8:46Speaker 1: ready to come in, like the six man sitting next
- 8:48Speaker 1: to the coaches, like, okay, he's coming to play. No,
- 8:51Speaker 1: Japan's bench is backwards, where their first subs are on
- 8:54Speaker 1: the very end, so.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Short of a bench.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You didn't get in, or he got in for thirty seconds,
- 9:01Speaker 1: didn't touch the ball. They were down by fifteen to
- 9:04Speaker 1: twenty with the last four minutes that nobody subbed. Also pissed,
- 9:10Speaker 1: so sad.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I'm so glad.
- 9:13Speaker 4: I didn't come over, didn't watch that. Hunter called me
- 9:16Speaker 4: and he woke me up. I fell back asleep, and
- 9:20Speaker 4: I have guys set an alarm for it. So I
- 9:22Speaker 4: went back to sleep for about ten minutes, walk up
- 9:24Speaker 4: again to my alarm, and yeah, I didn't watch it.
- 9:29Speaker 2: It's not shocking. I mean, there's a lot of good
- 9:33Speaker 2: players in Japan as a country. I'm sure. I'm just
- 9:36Speaker 2: surprised they didn't get in even when it was garbage time.
- 9:38Speaker 1: But there were two five foot five guys that play
- 9:41Speaker 1: for them. Kse is taller than them, and they play now.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I will say, they play like Case like. They shoot
- 9:48Speaker 1: the same kind of shot. So it was kind of
- 9:50Speaker 1: fun to watch, but they're not good. Germany just outmanned
- 9:53Speaker 1: them pound for pound.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Well, Germany is good, I mean, I mean.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They're they're they're decent, and Daniel Tyers was my favorites.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They just kicked their ass. So rip Case maybe he'll
- 10:04Speaker 1: get his chance. I did see in their last couple
- 10:06Speaker 1: of exhibition games he was like, oh for seven from three,
- 10:09Speaker 1: so got it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: He's a three point jersey, the one guy who is
- 10:16Speaker 2: actually doing well. Where's your Jack McVay jersey?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah that I don't have one. It's funny. I forgot.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I had a Matthew Dellavedova Aussie jersey. He's not even
- 10:26Speaker 1: really playing, and I was like looking through that, I'm like,
- 10:28Speaker 1: oh my god, Jack McVay put.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Speak uh Finals MVP.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I believe Yeah, Like I mean, he's like bawling out
- 10:36Speaker 5: in Australia, Dak.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Do you know who Jack McVay is.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yep, former Husker Boy, Wow, you nailed it. Barely played Yea,
- 10:46Speaker 3: he had.
- 10:46Speaker 5: A lot of injuries, but when he had the there's
- 10:48Speaker 5: a stretch there where he was pretty good.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Very slow on defense.
- 10:54Speaker 1: That's just that.
- 10:55Speaker 2: On most of the players from that era of Husker basketball.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Was good. He was on a high game.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Remember, yeah, we we had, we had tournament aspirations with
- 11:06Speaker 2: that team.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And that means it is a good That means it's
- 11:08Speaker 1: a good team for Nebraska.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we's got injuries. That's what kills that.
- 11:15Speaker 1: All right, Husker football. We spent way too long not
- 11:19Speaker 1: talking about that win. Told seven and a half expectations.
- 11:25Speaker 1: We talked about that a lot on this podcast. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: think Husker fans are known I don't think I know.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Husker fans are known for having very high, unrealistic, drinking
- 11:36Speaker 1: the kool aid type expectations, especially in the offseason. I
- 11:40Speaker 1: could go get my other shirt that has us defending
- 11:43Speaker 1: our offseason Natty title for the last twenty three, twenty
- 11:46Speaker 1: four years now. But we're here. I mean it's Paul
- 11:50Speaker 1: Campus starting Big ten Media days. Just was last week.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Coach Rule talked for about fifteen minutes, brought three of
- 11:58Speaker 1: the seniors along to speak about their team.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yah, Darling, he's all over ESPN. I don't he does.
- 12:06Speaker 1: He likes to go like obviously that's part of every coach.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But then he also does these side shows and side
- 12:12Speaker 1: talks with all these different which is.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Surprising because you know, he's on Pat McAfee, he does
- 12:18Speaker 5: Joel Klatt, he's on h he did Sports Center, or like, uh,
- 12:23Speaker 5: wake up, We'll not wake up?
- 12:24Speaker 2: What is it.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Good?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just uh. I just find it interesting that
- 12:32Speaker 2: like ESPN likes him, Like, I don't you know, James
- 12:35Speaker 2: Frank was not doing these shows.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, he's not sticking the mud. He's a good interview.
- 12:40Speaker 2: He's a good he's a good SoundBite.
- 12:43Speaker 1: And I think, like PJ.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Fleck, but.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I think that's with good reason. With the Rule, I
- 12:50Speaker 1: think he knows his intentions behind it. I think these
- 12:54Speaker 1: first couple of years it does. He has to be
- 12:56Speaker 1: the face and the of the program to the media
- 13:02Speaker 1: and the media drives so so much of opinions in
- 13:07Speaker 1: college football and especially in recruiting, and Rule does a
- 13:11Speaker 1: good job of getting out of front of that and
- 13:13Speaker 1: saying things for the program and helping build. And I
- 13:16Speaker 1: think he says a lot of the right things and
- 13:19Speaker 1: trying to say that with an unbiased opinion, but I
- 13:23Speaker 1: do think he's a football guy. He's a football coach
- 13:25Speaker 1: and does a really good job of expressing himself. Now,
- 13:28Speaker 1: Paul Finebaumb might disagree on the other hand, not too
- 13:35Speaker 1: technologically advanced where we'll insert that clip, but at a
- 13:38Speaker 1: high level, Rule said four Big Ten teams should get
- 13:42Speaker 1: into the college that will playoff every year because that's
- 13:45Speaker 1: how strong the conference is. Not dismissing the SEC or
- 13:48Speaker 1: in the other conferences, but the four Big Ten team
- 13:50Speaker 1: should get in. Paul Finebaumb then goes on to just
- 13:53Speaker 1: rip the comment and says, stay in your lane, Matt,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you need to just make a pathetic ball game first.
- 14:00Speaker 1: You're putting yourself in the conversation of Ohio State and
- 14:03Speaker 1: Georgia and Clemson, and you just need to make a
- 14:06Speaker 1: bowl game, and basically went off, which I thought was whatever.
- 14:14Speaker 5: I will say, paulifying bomb there's a little out of
- 14:17Speaker 5: context how it was framed to him. Greeney proposed it
- 14:22Speaker 5: as Manuel's semant and said that they should be automatic
- 14:25Speaker 5: qualifiers for four Big ten teams. What do you think
- 14:27Speaker 5: of that? Which is then what PAULI fying Bomb responded to,
- 14:31Speaker 5: which is not what matt Uel said. Matt Reel said
- 14:34Speaker 5: that the conference is strong enough that it should have
- 14:36Speaker 5: four people in it every year, not automatically qualifying, but
- 14:39Speaker 5: there should be four teams that are worthy of being
- 14:41Speaker 5: the top twelve team in the country.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Was how I interpreted it.
- 14:45Speaker 3: At least fine Bomb's an SEC guy.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yes, and the ESPN's an SEC shop.
- 14:52Speaker 1: That is how Fine baumb got his name. I mean,
- 14:54Speaker 1: I remember when I first heard of him. He came
- 14:57Speaker 1: out of the SEC and that was all he could
- 15:00Speaker 1: talk about. I mean, this was like at the beginning
- 15:02Speaker 1: of the playoff era when I remember just Paul fying
- 15:04Speaker 1: Bomb raving everything SEC. I also just think it's kind
- 15:09Speaker 1: of a it's kind of a media ploy, right, Like
- 15:12Speaker 1: all of his comments, Rull never want said Nebraska should
- 15:16Speaker 1: be one of those, right. I think I think, you know,
- 15:19Speaker 1: he hopefully thinks we can. But he wasn't implying that
- 15:23Speaker 1: we are going to be qualifying every year. He just
- 15:27Speaker 1: said the conference is strong enough that they should be
- 15:29Speaker 1: getting for in.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I was, I'm gonna assume that Paul five momb
- 15:35Speaker 5: he's doing his best Steven A. Smith where he doesn't
- 15:38Speaker 5: really believe what he's saying. He's just saying it to
- 15:40Speaker 5: get the clicks, because it was it was a pretty
- 15:43Speaker 5: bad take. Trying to be unbiased about it because if
- 15:46Speaker 5: you actually but just yeah, if he just listened to
- 15:47Speaker 5: Rule said that, he did not respond to what Rule
- 15:50Speaker 5: said he was responding with Mike Greenberg posed it as,
- 15:53Speaker 5: which is, I would say, an inaccurate representation of the conversation,
- 15:57Speaker 5: un totally taking out of context.
- 16:02Speaker 1: It's any more comments on Paul fine bomb.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Well, I don't like him either way, but but I
- 16:11Speaker 4: guess I like him now because we're in the SEC.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he's your driver, who's a conference driver.
- 16:16Speaker 4: He blows the SEC all day every day, and and yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 4: of course he's gonna he hates every other commerce bise
- 16:23Speaker 4: that Colorado.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, if you when the SEC, he hates you.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Although I do, I do agree then though they're I
- 16:33Speaker 4: don't think you'll ever get four Big ten teams in
- 16:36Speaker 4: you know, Penn State will be there every year because
- 16:37Speaker 4: they go ten to two.
- 16:39Speaker 5: I mean last year we would have had four teams.
- 16:43Speaker 5: We would have had three, right.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Iowa State, Michigan and Penn State State.
- 16:48Speaker 2: It's not unreasonable to think a fourth team could sneak in.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I mean, they were a top twenty five team last year.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Just look at Iowas scheduled this year. It's stupid. They
- 17:01Speaker 1: probably have a chance at getting in.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Uh.
- 17:04Speaker 1: The other one that I looked at, that's kind of funny.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Their schedule is ruggers. I'm not saying they're gonna get in,
- 17:09Speaker 1: but I mean if you look at who they play,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and if they're decent, they don't play any of the
- 17:14Speaker 1: top four teams, Like they could go nine to three
- 17:17Speaker 1: and play in the title game in the Big Ten.
- 17:19Speaker 1: And you can't tell me that if two teams get
- 17:22Speaker 1: in the Big Ten, they're not gonna at least start
- 17:24Speaker 1: with the two in the title game. I mean, I
- 17:27Speaker 1: think that would be a start. So it's just funny
- 17:29Speaker 1: with this whole new conference thing, it hasn't be really
- 17:31Speaker 1: excited for college football in general because they're.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Well, not only at Oregon, Orgon is gonna be there, u.
- 17:44Speaker 1: USC win totals like seven and a half.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I think they got organ.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So we can we can dive into Big ten teams
- 17:55Speaker 1: and we will in future episodes. I just think this
- 17:57Speaker 1: whole new era with eighteen teams in the Big Ten,
- 18:01Speaker 1: sixteen teams now in the SEC, the Playoff, expanding the
- 18:05Speaker 1: twelve teams, like everything's happening at once and nobody really
- 18:09Speaker 1: knows what that's gonna look like. But to me that
- 18:12Speaker 1: makes it exciting. Like, Dak, you have O you and
- 18:14Speaker 1: the SEC? Now, are you even used to that? No?
- 18:18Speaker 4: Not not even not even close. Like it's gonna be
- 18:22Speaker 4: weird playing LSU, Bama and Georgia every year now, But
- 18:28Speaker 4: I don't know, And like playing a college football games
- 18:30Speaker 4: the SEC on the field, it's weird. I wish you
- 18:34Speaker 4: stayed in the Big twelve. I wish everybody did, but
- 18:37Speaker 4: I guess I guess we're stuck with the now.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Wait, so you do wish you would stay in the
- 18:42Speaker 1: Big twelve?
- 18:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I wish the huscar are still in Big
- 18:45Speaker 4: twelve too. I like, I like playing all the teams
- 18:48Speaker 4: are close falser to me up here than freaking going
- 18:51Speaker 4: out to Mississippi and Bam and all that. I don't
- 18:54Speaker 4: just have it back, keep Colorado and Nebraska back in it.
- 18:58Speaker 4: You don't gotta bring those weirdos down and him back,
- 19:00Speaker 4: but Missouri can bring back.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Real quick. The current structure of the SEC Big ten
- 19:09Speaker 1: in the playoffs, how many years do you think it
- 19:12Speaker 1: stays like this? Like no more teams added or get
- 19:15Speaker 1: rid of and the playoff doesn't change. How many years
- 19:18Speaker 1: of this structure for something changes five years and what's change.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I think it's going to be changing the automatic bids
- 19:28Speaker 2: three years.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I'm just saying the twelve teams, like they might.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Change the twelve teams. I don't think it's a bigger
- 19:36Speaker 2: than twelve.
- 19:38Speaker 4: It all depends on the money. If there's it's it's
- 19:40Speaker 4: all driven by money. I could see it five years
- 19:43Speaker 4: going to sixteen teams. They are already trying to get
- 19:46Speaker 4: sixteen right now without even playing a single game at twelve.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm more in the shorter term, and I think
- 19:56Speaker 1: the five year, five to seven year timeframe I that
- 20:00Speaker 1: I think you're spot on with the money take. I
- 20:01Speaker 1: just I think they're going to become their own league,
- 20:04Speaker 1: and I think that comes with adding the teams that
- 20:06Speaker 1: can afford to be in those and I think both
- 20:09Speaker 1: leagues can get up to potentially twenty ish teams, maybe
- 20:12Speaker 1: a little bit more, and they're going to separate off
- 20:14Speaker 1: and do their own thing, and the NCAA is going
- 20:18Speaker 1: to be stuck with whoever's left. And I mean, I
- 20:21Speaker 1: don't know if that's better for the sport in general,
- 20:23Speaker 1: but I think that's what's going to happen. I just
- 20:26Speaker 1: don't see things staying this way for ten to fifteen years.
- 20:31Speaker 1: It's just too much of a volatile market right now,
- 20:36Speaker 1: and everybody's after the new contracts and new bids and
- 20:40Speaker 1: new money, and a lot of teams can afford it.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I mean that's not even mentioning nil and all these
- 20:45Speaker 1: other things that are changing with college football. So I
- 20:49Speaker 1: don't know. I think it's going to be short lived.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And I don't think people should get too hung up
- 20:53Speaker 1: on the because everybody's going to complain about this thing
- 20:57Speaker 1: and that thing. I think everybody should just enjoy what
- 20:59Speaker 1: we have because it's going to change. People are going
- 21:02Speaker 1: to be upset when the teams get selected on who
- 21:04Speaker 1: that is how people are already pissed about the way
- 21:07Speaker 1: the video games selecting teams for in the seeding and
- 21:10Speaker 1: the rankings, like it's just a whole big ordeal. So
- 21:13Speaker 1: let's enjoy it because I think it's going to be
- 21:15Speaker 1: fun and it's crazy. And guess what, Nebraska's got a
- 21:17Speaker 1: better chance of making the playoffs by expanding it even more.
- 21:21Speaker 4: That's true, the ACC will be the next one to fall. Yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 4: they won't be long for the ACC's done, and then
- 21:30Speaker 4: I can see I think eventually it'll just be the
- 21:34Speaker 4: Big ten SEC only maybe the Big twelve stays and
- 21:37Speaker 4: picks up.
- 21:38Speaker 3: It's just like.
- 21:38Speaker 4: A scrap like left or scraps of teams over there.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But what's fascinating with like the Big twelve, Like you said, like,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I don't know where where do they fit in that?
- 21:49Speaker 1: Because they for basketball they do have fat wrong if
- 21:54Speaker 1: not the strongest conference, and so I don't know where
- 21:57Speaker 1: that fits in all of this and how that could look.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And that might be the one thing that actually keeps
- 22:03Speaker 1: all of this still part of the n c a
- 22:05Speaker 1: A in the in the future. But it it is,
- 22:08Speaker 1: it's going to be interesting. I just think we're not
- 22:10Speaker 1: here to stay, especially with the football world, but I
- 22:14Speaker 1: think it's college sports in general, and I do think
- 22:17Speaker 1: that we're not too far away from collectives and agents and.
- 22:24Speaker 5: The big twelves already looking for a corporate sponsor to
- 22:27Speaker 5: co sponsor the conference.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yep, we got logos being we got logos being approved
- 22:32Speaker 1: on the field. Like it's all going to get commercialized here.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And whether that's for the better or for the worse,
- 22:37Speaker 1: I don't know, but it's it's it's moving in that direction.
- 22:41Speaker 1: The athletes I think, are going to end up being
- 22:44Speaker 1: employees eventually, Like that's going to happen. I don't know.
- 22:47Speaker 2: There's something that got passed that the university could pay
- 22:50Speaker 2: student athletes director.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So it's all moving. Let's enjoy it, Let's enjoy, let's
- 22:56Speaker 1: have fun with it.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Is the NCAA commissioner is he live? Because there's no
- 23:01Speaker 4: rules anymore?
- 23:02Speaker 3: He doesn't give.
- 23:04Speaker 4: I think it's probably because the conferences are bigger than him.
- 23:06Speaker 4: He can't really do anything about it.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Where the money's at, Like, like you said, where's the
- 23:11Speaker 1: money at right now? It lies with the schools and
- 23:14Speaker 1: with these big donors and people that are willing to
- 23:18Speaker 1: give all this money to the schools for nil and
- 23:21Speaker 1: the conferences. And I mean that's where the money's at.
- 23:25Speaker 1: And the kids are going to be getting the money
- 23:28Speaker 1: as they should because it's an entertainment business. I mean,
- 23:31Speaker 1: you talk about sports in general and you look at
- 23:33Speaker 1: all these professional sports. It is the entertainment business. And
- 23:37Speaker 1: where people's advertisement and money of that sense goes, it
- 23:42Speaker 1: should be going to the ones that are providing the entertainment.
- 23:44Speaker 1: It doesn't every other sport.
- 23:46Speaker 4: He's probably staying quiet because because he knows if he
- 23:49Speaker 4: pissed off these schools, they can easily just leave and
- 23:52Speaker 4: be independent by himself. So he's just letting them do
- 23:54Speaker 4: whatever because basically NCAA's is they're just for name only.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Now they ain't doing anything, and yeah, who knows what
- 24:02Speaker 1: the other schools. So okay, let's let's circle back to
- 24:06Speaker 1: Husker football. Let's get there. Where are we at? What?
- 24:10Speaker 1: What do we think? Where did our minds go? I
- 24:13Speaker 1: know that after the offseason, you know, we talked about
- 24:18Speaker 1: how we finished last year, didn't make a bowl game again,
- 24:20Speaker 1: but a lot of close games. We bring in Dylan Rayola,
- 24:25Speaker 1: five star quarterback away from Georgia like that has been
- 24:29Speaker 1: the talk of the entire offseason, and the spring game happens.
- 24:34Speaker 1: He lives up to his hype. We watched a spring game.
- 24:36Speaker 1: We're like, oh my gosh, he's Patrick Mahomes two point oh.
- 24:39Speaker 1: That was the title of our last episode.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Well, like we we.
- 24:44Speaker 1: It just it just feels like things could be trending
- 24:47Speaker 1: in the right direction. But with everything that's happened with
- 24:52Speaker 1: our past few coaches, we have to still be a
- 24:55Speaker 1: little bit aware of getting out of control with our expectations.
- 25:00Speaker 1: But I don't know, is it is it real this year?
- 25:04Speaker 1: This time? Like, could it be? When I say get
- 25:07Speaker 1: us back? I could it be a eight and four
- 25:09Speaker 1: year given our schedule a nine and three year if
- 25:11Speaker 1: we performed better than we should, it definitely could be.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I mean you you're right, it's totally built top of
- 25:22Speaker 2: our expectations of what our schedule is. You know, you
- 25:25Speaker 2: look at the first seven weeks, the.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Toughest seven and.
- 25:31Speaker 2: We should I mean we think we should. We should be.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Colorado, right, That's the only game I'd be worried about,
- 25:38Speaker 4: and that you should start minimum six and one.
- 25:43Speaker 1: But why, Like I'm not saying I don't agree. Why
- 25:47Speaker 1: are we saying that we should be seven and oher
- 25:49Speaker 1: Like we're the better team to win at Purdue, to
- 25:53Speaker 1: beat Rutgers at home, like Illinois at home? Why why
- 25:57Speaker 1: why should we think that we're just better than those
- 25:59Speaker 1: teams and we're gonna be them even I mean Colorado
- 26:01Speaker 1: at home. I mean, I will say Utep in Northern Nilo,
- 26:06Speaker 1: we better win those two games. But there's what have
- 26:11Speaker 1: we done in the past eight nine years that have
- 26:15Speaker 1: shown that we're gonna win those games?
- 26:19Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, you you've struggled to beat Purdue every year.
- 26:24Speaker 1: And Rogers.
- 26:28Speaker 4: I think those teams are awful those first seven times people,
- 26:31Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, I guess, I guess the Rats have
- 26:35Speaker 4: been awful. You've been on the level of Fordue Rutgers
- 26:39Speaker 4: in Indiana, Well, I think Indiana might be one of
- 26:43Speaker 4: the worst teams in the nation.
- 26:45Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 26:49Speaker 5: I think if you look at best case, worst case,
- 26:52Speaker 5: I mean obviously excluding worst. When I say worst case,
- 26:55Speaker 5: I mean worst realistic case, because we're not going to
- 26:57Speaker 5: go zero and seven.
- 26:58Speaker 2: I just don't think that would happen.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Nope. Not.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Best case would be oh and seven, worst case probably
- 27:04Speaker 2: three and four. That seem right, Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's third game.
- 27:14Speaker 1: So many Husker fans just say we're seven and no,
- 27:16Speaker 1: we're gonna be setting like like like beck as you
- 27:18Speaker 1: started off, and it just it is so funny because
- 27:22Speaker 1: it's the same song and dance every year and we
- 27:25Speaker 1: justify it so differently every single year. This year we
- 27:29Speaker 1: have we we say we have a reason with Dylan
- 27:32Speaker 1: Ryola and Matt Rule in the second year. So everybody's saying,
- 27:35Speaker 1: look at Matt Rule and you're to Temple at Baylor.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Look what he did, Like this should matter. Well, guys,
- 27:41Speaker 1: remember Matt Rule said last year was like here two.
- 27:44Speaker 1: That's what he claimed when he came here. So we're
- 27:47Speaker 1: trying to justify why we should be when again, in reality,
- 27:51Speaker 1: we just need to win football games and that's all
- 27:54Speaker 1: that matters at this point, game game by game. But
- 27:57Speaker 1: we're sitting here looking seven games in and I you guys,
- 28:03Speaker 1: still there a little buffer there we go. I think
- 28:13Speaker 1: we're back.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't know what was going on.
- 28:20Speaker 1: To me, little little interference, Uh, but yeah, I think
- 28:24Speaker 1: seven to zero. Like, I don't know why we're talking
- 28:26Speaker 1: about it at this point because these teams are not
- 28:31Speaker 1: teams that we have shown that we can just beat.
- 28:33Speaker 1: By twenty Now with all this stuff coming in, maybe
- 28:36Speaker 1: we can. Maybe it will be the year that we
- 28:37Speaker 1: can turn things around. I don't know, but all of
- 28:40Speaker 1: the Husker media fans, all the people that we've talked
- 28:43Speaker 1: to friends, are all so hyped. And I can say
- 28:46Speaker 1: I've been there myself, had a couple of days. No
- 28:51Speaker 1: like it, it'll it'll come around. But I have to
- 28:53Speaker 1: like say, nope, one, I'm I'm going to the Indiana game,
- 28:57Speaker 1: so we're probably gonna lose that game, because I'm going.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Oh fuck, if you lose, you're screwed.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Anything here looking at I mean, so Media Days pretty uneventfuble.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Really isn't anything there that really I don't think that
- 29:11Speaker 5: hyped anyone up? Was there anything Media Days? I got
- 29:13Speaker 5: you hyped up? It felt pretty scripted. They were all
- 29:15Speaker 5: kind of on the same page. These are our talking points.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I will say this. Husker fans thought Rules take like
- 29:24Speaker 1: I've listened to a couple of the other podcasts like
- 29:26Speaker 1: if I maybe I'm reading into this too much, but
- 29:29Speaker 1: I think Rule thinks we're going to be pretty good.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I think Rule thinks we have a chance of making
- 29:32Speaker 1: the playoffs. You dumb idiots, like come on, like and
- 29:38Speaker 1: I think we do.
- 29:39Speaker 2: He does think the team's good, which he should.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Is your coach canna say my team sucks.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Yeah, But I do think off season wise, I mean
- 29:52Speaker 5: there's a couple of shortcomings to the USCER media, which
- 29:54Speaker 5: I want to get into eventually. Coach Cooper's personal and
- 30:00Speaker 5: for leaving that they no one seems to know no
- 30:03Speaker 5: one in all of Nebraska, Like there's literally one.
- 30:07Speaker 1: No one really cares anymore. That's what's weird about it.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so, yeah, we do have a new Corners.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Coach under the rug.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Well, I think it's yeah. I don't know if it's
- 30:18Speaker 2: because we hired a supposedly really good Corners coach from
- 30:22Speaker 2: the NFL.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Of course we're gonna says good, right, I mean, you
- 30:27Speaker 1: know he did.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Coach the you know it was like the best pass defense,
- 30:31Speaker 5: top five pass defense, I don't remember anyways, So there's that.
- 30:35Speaker 5: But I think coming out of the off season, you're
- 30:37Speaker 5: just excited because the chasing three you kind of see
- 30:41Speaker 5: the athletes and on the offensive side, and you feel
- 30:43Speaker 5: better about the wide receivers, and you feel better about
- 30:45Speaker 5: the quarterback and you feel better about the running back room.
- 30:47Speaker 2: So it's hard not to feel better than you felt
- 30:49Speaker 2: last year. And I feel like we were pretty positive
- 30:51Speaker 2: coming out of last year.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Yah, best ship. That's got right too. You guys, are
- 31:00Speaker 3: you guys gonna miss Jeff SAMs?
- 31:02Speaker 2: No?
- 31:03Speaker 1: What a take?
- 31:06Speaker 3: Why not? No? But why not Dack?
- 31:11Speaker 4: Why not obviously have one good thing to look forward to.
- 31:14Speaker 4: You know, your quarterback play can't get any worse than
- 31:16Speaker 4: last year. And if if it is worse, I don't know.
- 31:22Speaker 4: I don't know how it could be that that's one
- 31:23Speaker 4: of the worst quarterback plays or a teams ever I've
- 31:27Speaker 4: ever saw play and we.
- 31:28Speaker 5: Still won five games. So yeah, you have to feel
- 31:31Speaker 5: all right about it. Right, the defense will take a
- 31:34Speaker 5: step back. I want to feel I feel confident saying
- 31:37Speaker 5: we're not going to come out swinging like last year.
- 31:39Speaker 3: You're not going to be the top five defense.
- 31:42Speaker 2: No, we're not going to catch people off guard.
- 31:45Speaker 4: You do have a you do have a top twenty
- 31:48Speaker 4: offense and defense coming into the week two in the Lincoln.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Supposedly a course like I mean, i'mn't going to talk
- 31:54Speaker 2: about eas Colorado.
- 31:57Speaker 1: That now's your time to ask your question. In the text,
- 32:00Speaker 1: I said to wait for the podcast O.
- 32:05Speaker 3: The starter.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 32:09Speaker 5: I don't think it's I do think it is fluid.
- 32:12Speaker 5: I do think Harbard I could win it, but no.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Going to start. But wouldn't that just be Husker Nation
- 32:21Speaker 1: if we didn't hear anything and just the first snap
- 32:24Speaker 1: against UTAF we get the ball, it Heiner Harbord rolls out,
- 32:28Speaker 1: like what would the stadium do? People would just have
- 32:33Speaker 1: no idea how to react. Like I thought about that
- 32:37Speaker 1: the other day, I'm like, that would be hilarious. But
- 32:40Speaker 1: I think Yola start. But that's good, that's good. I
- 32:46Speaker 1: think the bigger conversation is how we're going to utilize
- 32:49Speaker 1: Harbor because it sounds like there's potentially that Tay some
- 32:53Speaker 1: Him Blake Beldozer type of role for him potentially. But
- 33:00Speaker 1: then again, if he's your clear cut second string quarterback,
- 33:02Speaker 1: do you want him in on places with potential to
- 33:05Speaker 1: get hurt? Because if Raola goes down, do we trust
- 33:10Speaker 1: the freshman Danny Kalin from Bellue West right off the bat?
- 33:14Speaker 1: I don't know, So I think that's a whole another conversation.
- 33:17Speaker 1: But I do think that what you said quarterback play
- 33:21Speaker 1: can't get worse. Quarterback play was potentially two or three
- 33:27Speaker 1: wins last year that we could have had and our
- 33:30Speaker 1: season could have definitely looked really different. And then we're
- 33:34Speaker 1: probably now like drinking the hype of the national title
- 33:38Speaker 1: this year if we were seven and five last year,
- 33:40Speaker 1: but I do. I think like Rayola's job is not
- 33:45Speaker 1: to come in and throw for four hundred yards a
- 33:47Speaker 1: game and three touchdowns a game. Like that happens great,
- 33:51Speaker 1: But I think his job right now as a freshman
- 33:54Speaker 1: is to come in and be a game manager and
- 33:55Speaker 1: lead the way he knows how to lead a group
- 33:58Speaker 1: of men. And I have confidence at what I saw
- 34:01Speaker 1: in the spring game that he can do that. And
- 34:03Speaker 1: just one thing that still sticks out into my mind
- 34:05Speaker 1: to this day from the spring game, was he led
- 34:09Speaker 1: our team out or the white team, I guess out
- 34:12Speaker 1: of the tunnel, and like with confidence. It wasn't a
- 34:15Speaker 1: cocky arrogant but it was like no, like we're gonna
- 34:18Speaker 1: do this. When he let his team out, I'm like that.
- 34:21Speaker 1: That shows like Jeff Simms did not have any of
- 34:24Speaker 1: that at all. And I can even say some of
- 34:27Speaker 1: our past quarterbacks like we haven't seen that in them.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I feel like Adrian led with a very much more
- 34:34Speaker 1: composed type of leadership and led by example, and I
- 34:38Speaker 1: think that was good too. I think they got him
- 34:40Speaker 1: a long ways. But I mean right out the get go.
- 34:43Speaker 1: We see this with Dylan Reola, and it's exciting. It
- 34:47Speaker 1: brings hope that if our quarterback play even just gets
- 34:50Speaker 1: a little bit better, that maybe will be in a
- 34:52Speaker 1: lot better position this year.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Not unreasonable to have the hope. I don't think.
- 35:03Speaker 3: You guys, you guys can be rooting for that call
- 35:05Speaker 3: in the Nebraska game.
- 35:07Speaker 1: What are you talking about.
- 35:09Speaker 2: In the Colorado Nebraska game?
- 35:11Speaker 3: You're are met team for Colorado?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Oh what are you?
- 35:15Speaker 1: What are you even talking about that game? You guys?
- 35:18Speaker 2: Absolutely, you're just talking with us.
- 35:19Speaker 1: You thought that was working with us. Yeah, Hey, we
- 35:24Speaker 1: gotta beat UTEP. We gotta beat UTEP. That's yeah, first step.
- 35:29Speaker 2: It's true if we go into their ozh and one.
- 35:31Speaker 5: But I still think out of all the games, I
- 35:34Speaker 5: think that's probably the biggest game on our schedule.
- 35:37Speaker 2: We'll get there. But I mean, yeah, that's potential to
- 35:42Speaker 2: really deflate a lot of.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Fans like, Okay, yeah, there's obviously a billion different what
- 35:47Speaker 1: if scenarios how these first few games can go if
- 35:52Speaker 1: we do start off. I mean, like you said, your
- 35:54Speaker 1: floor like three and four. I mean I don't I
- 35:59Speaker 1: haven't played that one out my head much. But I
- 36:00Speaker 1: have played out like the because everybody talks about the
- 36:03Speaker 1: six and one, the seven and zero start going to
- 36:05Speaker 1: Ohio State being a top ten team like before. How
- 36:11Speaker 1: how will Husker just think about our fan base and
- 36:14Speaker 1: how nuts we're gonna be, how good we're gonna talk
- 36:16Speaker 1: us up like it's just gonna be crazy, when really,
- 36:20Speaker 1: I mean, if you want to look at our schedule,
- 36:22Speaker 1: we really had will not have played anybody great up
- 36:25Speaker 1: until that point. Well, I say that teams that we
- 36:28Speaker 1: should be, right that we talk about teams that we
- 36:30Speaker 1: should be. But in the same sense, we've also said
- 36:33Speaker 1: we just need to get to that point of beating
- 36:36Speaker 1: these teams that we should beat consistently and not go
- 36:40Speaker 1: lay in a get Northwestern on the road because we
- 36:42Speaker 1: fumble it or punt the ball the wrong way against
- 36:45Speaker 1: Michigan State and they return it or I don't We
- 36:48Speaker 1: don't need to go through the thousand ways that we've
- 36:50Speaker 1: lost games the past two or three four years, but
- 36:52Speaker 1: like we do, we do just need to win these
- 36:54Speaker 1: games that we quote unquote should win. Still don't know
- 36:57Speaker 1: why we're saying we should win, but there we go.
- 37:02Speaker 1: So expectations are weird.
- 37:05Speaker 3: You have not even guaranteed win for you anymore.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Uh, I would say that probably is.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I hope it is. I mean I think we should.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I think we're like a thirty point favorite.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say that's probably guaranteed win.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Okay, we're running.
- 37:27Speaker 2: You guys probably had a whole hour of EA content.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Oh no, we don't got to talk about it.
- 37:32Speaker 1: We'll get there. We'll get there plenty of We are
- 37:35Speaker 1: going to try to keep our episodes to forty minutes
- 37:38Speaker 1: like we have done in the past. Still do two
- 37:41Speaker 1: times and that two times a week. Like I said,
- 37:44Speaker 1: video will be recorded. We'll have some new exciting news
