- 0:10Hi, welcome back to the Astral Gateway podcast.
- 0:14I'm Marie Twice the Vicioni. In the previous episodes, we
- 0:18went through the main steps of the process, relaxation,
- 0:22creating focus, and what happens as you move closer to that
- 0:27transition state. And as people start practicing
- 0:31this or even just listening and trying to understand it,
- 0:35questions naturally start to come up.
- 0:38Sometimes it's small things at 1st and sometimes it's deeper
- 0:42questions about what's actually happening.
- 0:45So in this episode I want to go through some of the most common
- 0:50questions just to clear things up a little and make the process
- 0:55feel more familiar. Not to add more information for
- 0:59the sake of it, but to answer what people actually tend to
- 1:03experience. One of the first questions
- 1:06people often ask is am I doing it right?
- 1:10And the honest answer is there isn't really a fixed way it's
- 1:13supposed to look, because what you're learning here isn't a
- 1:17strict technique with exact steps that always produce the
- 1:21same result. It's more about becoming
- 1:24familiar with a shift in awareness, so if your experience
- 1:29doesn't look exactly like what someone else describes, that
- 1:33doesn't mean anything is wrong, it just means your mind is
- 1:36learning it in its own way. Another common question is what
- 1:42if nothing happens? And in most cases, something is
- 1:46happening, you just might not recognize it at first because a
- 1:51lot of this process is very subtle.
- 1:52At the beginning you're learning to notice the moment the body
- 1:56starts to fall asleep while awareness is still there.
- 1:59And at first that could be easy to miss.
- 2:03Even falling asleep completely is part of it because over time
- 2:06you start becoming aware of how that transition actually
- 2:09happens. Another question that comes up a
- 2:13lot is, should I be trying harder?
- 2:16And usually trying harder doesn't help because it creates
- 2:21more mental activity, and that tends to pull you back into full
- 2:25waking awareness. What works better is something
- 2:29softer, staying present but not interfering, just allowing the
- 2:34process to unfold. Then there's a question, Are
- 2:39vibrations supposed to happen? Sometimes they do and sometimes
- 2:43they don't. They're not required, they're
- 2:47just one possible part of the transition for some people.
- 2:50So it's not something to look for or measure progress by.
- 2:56If they come, you let them be there, and if they don't, the
- 2:59process is still the same underneath.
- 3:02And another one I hear often is how do I know it's actually
- 3:07working? And usually it's not something
- 3:10dramatic, it's more subtle than that.
- 3:13You might notice that you stay aware a little longer as you
- 3:17drift towards sleep, or that you recognize the shift more clearly
- 3:21than before, or that you don't get pulled out of it as easily
- 3:26when something unusual happens. That's the progress it builds
- 3:31quietly over time. Another question that comes up
- 3:35is about sleep paralysis. What if I get sleep paralysis
- 3:40and I can't move? What's important to understand
- 3:43here is that sleep paralysis isn't something added into the
- 3:48experience. It's already part of the sleep
- 3:51process every night. The only difference here is that
- 3:54awareness becomes active while the body is already in that
- 3:57state. So it can feel strange because
- 4:00normally the mind isn't present for it, but the state itself is
- 4:05neutral. It's just the body being offline
- 4:09while awareness is still slightly awake, and that
- 4:13mismatch is what creates the unusual feeling.
- 4:18Another thing people often don't realize is that sleep paralysis
- 4:22is actually one of the signs that you're close to the
- 4:26transition point. Not because it's required, but
- 4:30because it shows the body has fully shifted into sleep mode
- 4:35while awareness is still nearby. So instead of seeing it as
- 4:40something to deal with, it can help to recognize it as a stage
- 4:44of separation. Another question is, what if I
- 4:50get scared? And fear in that state is not
- 4:53really about danger, it's usually about loss of control,
- 4:58because the mind is used to relying on movement, on checking
- 5:02the environment, on confirming everything is normal.
- 5:06When that ability is removed temporarily, the system reacts.
- 5:11So fear is often just a nervous system interpreting unfamiliar
- 5:15stillness as uncertainty, nothing more than that.
- 5:20And the interesting part is fear only becomes stronger when you
- 5:24engage with it mentally, when you start analyzing it,
- 5:28resisting it, or trying to escape it.
- 5:32But when you simply allow it to exist without building a story
- 5:36around it, it usually peaks and passes quite quickly.
- 5:43Another common question is why does it only happen sometimes?
- 5:49And this is where people often misunderstand the process.
- 5:53Because it isn't a linear skill. It's not something you achieve
- 5:58and then repeat on command. It's a shift in conditions.
- 6:03Your awareness, your body state, your level of mental activity,
- 6:08all of these have to align in a certain way, and that alignment
- 6:13doesn't happen the same way every night.
- 6:16So inconsistency isn't failure, it's just the system
- 6:19recalibrating over time. What changes is not that it
- 6:24becomes forced, but that you start recognizing the conditions
- 6:28more quickly. And that recognition is what
- 6:32creates consistency later on. Another question is, what if I
- 6:37fall asleep every time? And this is actually one of the
- 6:40most important parts of the training, because falling asleep
- 6:44is not the opposite of success. It's part of how the boundary is
- 6:49learned. What's really happening is that
- 6:52awareness is losing continuity at a certain point.
- 6:56So each time you fall asleep, you're getting closer to the
- 7:00moment where awareness doesn't drop completely, and eventually
- 7:04instead of a full drop, you get a partial 1 where the body
- 7:09sleeps but something of you remained observing it.
- 7:13That's the shift you're developing, not stopping sleep,
- 7:16but changing how much of awareness stays present during
- 7:21it. Another thing people often ask
- 7:24about is vibrations. What are the vibrations
- 7:28actually? And it helps to be clear about
- 7:31this. They're not something external
- 7:34happening to you. They're not a signal from
- 7:38anywhere else. They're more like a byproduct of
- 7:41two states overlapping for a moment, sleep starting to take
- 7:46over the body while awareness is still partially anchored.
- 7:50So what you're feeling isn't a separate phenomenon, it's the
- 7:55nervous system shifting states while consciousness is still
- 7:58present enough to register it. That's why it can feel like
- 8:03buzzing, movement, pressure, or sound, because different parts
- 8:08of the system are switching off at slightly different speeds.
- 8:13Another important thing is that vibrations are not one single
- 8:16thing. People Group A lot of different
- 8:20transitional sensation under that word, so trying to identify
- 8:24them too precisely often creates confusion.
- 8:28What matters more is the direction of the experience, not
- 8:32the exact sensation. Another question that comes up
- 8:36is why do I sometimes get close and then it disappears?
- 8:42And this usually happens at the point where awareness becomes
- 8:46slightly too engaged. Not in a dramatic way, but just
- 8:51enough to restabilize the waking mind.
- 8:54It can be curiosity, it could be anticipation, it can even be
- 8:59sudden excitement, like it's happening now.
- 9:02And that small shift is enough to bring you back into full
- 9:05waking awareness. So it's not that the state was
- 9:10lost, it's that attention moved. Another common question is about
- 9:15false awakening, where you think you've woken up but you're still
- 9:19in a dream, like Claire. And this is actually a very
- 9:22natural part of the transition process, because the mind is
- 9:27still using the structure of waking reality to organize
- 9:30experience even while the state has already changed.
- 9:35So it creates a familiar environment first, often your
- 9:38room, your bed, your usual surroundings.
- 9:42But the level of awareness is different and that's why it can
- 9:46feel slightly off even when everything looks normal.
- 9:50The important thing here is not to treat it as an error, it's
- 9:54just the mind stabilizing perception while the transition
- 9:58is still active. Another question people often
- 10:02ask is why do exit techniques sometimes work and sometimes
- 10:06don't? And the key point here is that
- 10:09exit techniques don't actually create separation, they only
- 10:13give awareness a direction once separation is already becoming
- 10:18possible. So when they don't work, it's
- 10:21usually not because the technique is wrong, it's because
- 10:23the state hasn't reached that threshold yet, or awareness is
- 10:28still slightly too anchored in the physical reference point.
- 10:33When the timing is right, the same technique can feel
- 10:35effortless, almost like it's happening on its own.
- 10:39So it's less about finding the perfect method, and it's more
- 10:43about recognizing when the shift is already available.
- 10:47So if we bring everything together, most of these
- 10:51questions are really pointing to the same thing.
- 10:54They're not separate problems to solve.
- 10:56There are different ways of trying to understand the shift
- 10:59in awareness that doesn't behave the way our normal waking mind
- 11:03expects. At the beginning, the mind wants
- 11:07clear markers. It wants to know what's right,
- 11:10what's wrong, what means progress, and what doesn't.
- 11:14But what you start to notice over time is that this process
- 11:18doesn't really work in those terms.
- 11:21It's more about conditions coming together in the right
- 11:24way. Relaxation, reduced mental
- 11:28activity and awareness, staying just present enough to observe
- 11:33the transition instead of being pulled fully into it.
- 11:37And when those conditions are there, things like vibration,
- 11:40sleep paralysis, false awakening, or exit sensations
- 11:44can appear, but they're not the goal.
- 11:47They're just different ways the transition can be experienced,
- 11:51and none of them are required for the process to work.
- 11:54What really changes over time is your relationship to it.
- 11:58At first, everything feels new and uncertain.
- 12:02You analyse it while it's happening.
- 12:04You wonder if you're doing it correctly.
- 12:06But as it becomes more familiar, that layer of questioning starts
- 12:10to drop away, and instead of trying to control the
- 12:14experience, you begin to recognize it.
- 12:17You notice the familiar signs earlier, you stay calmer when
- 12:22unusual sensations appear, and you don't get pulled out of it
- 12:26as easily when the mind reacts. The familiarity is really what
- 12:32development looks like here. Not intensity, not control, just
- 12:37recognition. Before we finish, I just want to
- 12:41say this, you don't need to get everything right in order for
- 12:46this to work. Each time you practice, even if
- 12:49nothing seems to happen, you're still training awareness in the
- 12:52exact direction it needs to go. And over time that builds
- 12:56something very stable in the background.
- 13:00If you have any more questions, you're welcome to add them in
