- 0:00Speaker 1: Hmmm. Make yourself all cozy and nice and relaxed in
- 0:26your bed, and then close your eyes. Take a deep
- 0:32breath in and then slowly and gently let the breath
- 0:37out again. Deep breath in, and then slowly and gently
- 0:49let the breath out one more time. Deep breath in,
- 0:59and slowly and gently let the breath out, and just relax. Now,
- 1:10imagine you're walking in a beautiful, lush green rainforest with
- 1:17the most amazing trees. Some of them are very tall,
- 1:23so tall it looks like they reach up to the sky,
- 1:28and you're deep in the forest, and you realize it's
- 1:32late in the evening because you notice that the sun
- 1:36has already set and it's disappearing beyond the trees. The
- 1:42night sky is growing darker, and you look up and
- 1:46you can see the stars have come out, and you
- 1:49notice that the moon is shining brightly high up in
- 1:53the sky, lighting your way forward. The stars are so
- 2:00very bright and you can see them clearly as you
- 2:02walk along, and the air smells so fresh and crisp.
- 2:09It fills your lungs, helping them to expand and really
- 2:12breathe in deeply, and it feels so good as you walk.
- 2:21You can hear the amazing sounds of the evening. You
- 2:25can hear an owl calling to its mate. You can
- 2:29hear the gentle hum of crickets. You can hear the
- 2:34wings of the birds as they fly to the resting
- 2:37place for the night. You can even hear twigs being
- 2:42broken and stepped upon by the animals of the night
- 2:46as they go about their business. And this comforts you,
- 2:50and it makes you feel quite safe, very relaxed, and
- 2:56so calm and so peaceful. You stop suddenly and look
- 3:02ahead of you, and you see what looks like a dinosaur. Wow,
- 3:09a real live dinosaur. He has a long neck and
- 3:17a very long tail, but rather a small body. His
- 3:22skin is brown like the bark on the trees, and
- 3:26it has long stripes on it that are the color
- 3:29of the green leaves. And he has the most amazing,
- 3:34big brown kind eyes. He also has a bright orange
- 3:40tie around his long neck and a very big, bright
- 3:44yellow flower sticking out behind one of his ears. Hmmm,
- 3:49it's a bit odd. The dinosaur is gently eating the
- 3:54grass and the flowers around him. Phew. You think to yourself, well,
- 3:59that okay, because now you know that he won't eat you,
- 4:03because he has a herbivore and not a carnival. Only
- 4:08carnivores eat meat, so they won't eat you. You watch
- 4:13him quietly for a moment because you don't want to
- 4:16scare him, and you notice how he chooses food. It's
- 4:22like his mouth is rolling from side to side, you know,
- 4:25kind of like the way a cow does. And he
- 4:28looks like he's really enjoying it too. He's very happily
- 4:34munching away without a care in the world. Suddenly he
- 4:44sees you, and he stops and he looks at you,
- 4:49and then just as suddenly, he darts behind a very
- 4:52large tree. He's hiding from you. He thinks you can't
- 4:58see him now, but he can because his very long
- 5:01tail is sticking out and you can see it, and
- 5:06you can also see his bright orange tie flapping in
- 5:09the breeze. You walk over to where he is hiding
- 5:14and you say hello. You tell him not to be afraid.
- 5:18You're not going to hurt him. You just want to
- 5:20say hello. The dinosaur with the big bright orange tide
- 5:29and the big yellow flower behind his ear peeks out
- 5:33from behind the tree and he looks scared. Will you
- 5:37tell him it's okay? You just want to be his friend.
- 5:44The dinosaur slowly steps out from behind the tree and
- 5:49very shyly says hello, and you smile at him and
- 5:54tell him your name, and he smiles back at you,
- 5:58and he tells you that his name is Douglas, and
- 6:02you say you are very pleased to meet him. You
- 6:06ask Douglas why he's so scared of you, and he
- 6:10tells you it's not that he's just scared of you,
- 6:14he's scared of everyone, even the other dinosaurs. He tells
- 6:20you that he doesn't have any friends, only his mom
- 6:22than his dad, and you think that very sad. Douglas
- 6:28tells you that because he doesn't know anyone, they scare him.
- 6:33He says he's very afraid of anything new, not just
- 6:37dinosaurs and people everything. You tell him that a shame,
- 6:43because new things can be fun. And you tell him,
- 6:48what if you found a new fruit that you hadn't
- 6:52tasted before, but you wouldn't try it well because it
- 6:56was new, then you would be missing out on something
- 7:00very tasty, because sometimes new fruit tastes much better than
- 7:06the old fruit. Douglas says that that is true, but
- 7:12eating new fruit isn't the same as meeting new people.
- 7:18So you tell him that meeting new people is much
- 7:22better than meeting or tasting new fruit. If he met
- 7:29new people and new dinosaurs, then maybe he would meet
- 7:34someone who could be his best friend, someone who he
- 7:39could play with and go on adventures with. Now, wouldn't
- 7:42that be nice? But what if I met someone new
- 7:46and I didn't like them? Douglas says, Well, you say,
- 7:53if you meet someone that you don't like, you can
- 7:56still be nice to them, but you don't have to
- 7:59be there, and you can just say goodbye and not
- 8:02see them again, and then everything would be okay. Douglas
- 8:08has he never thought about it that way before? He says,
- 8:12all he ever did was hide away from them. You
- 8:17tell him that sometimes there are strange people and strange creatures,
- 8:24but mostly everybody are usually very nice. So you tell
- 8:31him that sometimes it's worth meeting a few maybe not
- 8:36so nice, just to meet the ones who are nice,
- 8:40because you will meet them. So for a few moments,
- 8:46stay with Douglas and show how nice and friendly that
- 8:51you can be. You can tell him all about your
- 8:54friends too, how nice they are. You can tell him
- 8:58all about the bit in your life, the good bit,
- 9:00and the bad bits on they're not some good bits
- 9:02that you don't really like very much. But you still
- 9:05have a wide circle of friends. All these people in
- 9:11your case, people that you love very much, some you
- 9:15just like, some you don't like. But the ones you
- 9:18don't like, you just don't have to see them again,
- 9:20do you. Maybe you can help Douglas to find some
- 9:25new friends of his own, So just stay with him
- 9:28for a few moments and help him and be kind.
- 12:35That was nice, wasn't it? Just you and Douglas making
- 12:41a friendship that will last forever. But now it's time
- 12:47for you to return to your own home. Now you've
- 12:51had a really lovely time with your new friend Douglas,
- 12:55and you've helped him very much. Now he's not so
- 12:59scared to meet new people or new creatures, and he's
- 13:02not so scared to try new things because you helped him,
- 13:08because you were kind to him. Douglas looks a little
- 13:14bit sad that you are leaving, but you tell him
- 13:18that you will be back again really soon. Then Douglas
- 13:22gives you a great big smile of happiness, and this
- 13:26makes you very happy too. Douglas gives you a wave
- 13:31and says goodbye and bravely turns away. But he does
- 13:37feel ever so brave now, ever so confident, And you
- 13:42did this for him. You helped him to be brave,
- 13:47and you helped him to be confident. And you should
- 13:51be very very proud of yourself. And remember you can
- 13:57come back here time you want to see Dougless again,
- 14:03and I know that it'd be very very happy if
- 14:06you do. So. For now, just breathe in through your
- 14:11nose and slowly and gently breathe out through your mouth. Again,
- 14:21breathe in, and slowly and gently breathe out through your mouth,
- 14:32one last gentle time. Breathe in and slowly breathe out
- 14:41through your mouth, and you find yourself now back in
- 14:46your very own bed, feeling so happy, so peaceful, but
- 14:55very very tired. So close your eye now and just
